    For your security, go and get ADT. That’s the most equipped thing that you can get right now. My sister also had it in her house in Louisville, Kentucky. At first, the setup was rough because they had the electrical doorbell. I don’t know anything about it so I didn’t wanna do it. The guy that originally was supposed to help me was always frustrated ‘cause I wasn’t understanding what they were talking about. So they got teed off with me and hung up on me. They can’t get upset with me when I’m not sure what I’m doing.

    I asked them to send me the battery system that I can mount on the wall, then it was very easy for me cause I set my own stuff up. I did it at 2 o’clock in the morning where nobody was out. I glued the doorbell thing up on the wall. Hopefully, they don’t get mad when I take it down cause this ain’t my apartment.

    ADT’s rep who originally set things up wanted me to give him more customers. He was talking about me getting a gift card if I do that, and for a minute, he kept calling me about it which was aggravating. I’m not the person that you wanna try to find people. I ain’t giving out numbers ‘cause I said everybody’s so private these days and things are so dangerous.

    But other than that, I love my ADT system. When I’m in my living room, it announces on my phone that someone’s in the living room. It’ll show me wherever I’m located at.

    My friend told me about ADT Self Setup, and my experience with it was all right, but not the best. I ordered the equipment, and they were supposed to come out on February 15th. And I had so many issues from February 15th to February the 25th. I had complications with setting everything up the right way. And some of the employees who came here were very rude, disrespectful, and just came when they wanna come.

    I work, and my kids are in school. I don’t get off work till 4:30. So, if they can come out between 4:45 and 4:50, because I don’t stay that far from my home, I can meet them. But they wanna come at 1 o’clock and sit there and think that I’m supposed to just walk off my job and come because they're here, that can’t happen. So, if they can’t come and respect me at the time that I’m requesting, then they can keep their stuff. I don’t need it.

    So, there’s been a lot of confusion from the whole thing. And now, they’re trying to make me pay $250 for their people coming out, when a supervisor told me that I didn’t have to pay that because it was their fault. Because everything was supposed to have been set up on the 15th. They were having issues with one of the doorbell cameras, but they say it was my internet.

    So, I called a friend who has the same internet I have, and he has ADT as well, because he was the one who told me about it. All his cameras were set up on one internet. For some reason, the two cameras worked on my internet. It was just the doorbell that didn't. So, there was something wrong with the doorbell. So, they had to bring me out another one.

    I have been calling ADT about the situation. And even the ladies that I talked to said that the technician didn’t do his job. And when he first came out, he acted like he didn’t wanna do it because they made him come back. And then he told me he was too far out. So, they sent somebody else the next day, and the next day.

    So, my bill was only 67.47. And I did pay 67.47. I’m not paying the $250 because I was told that I didn’t have to. Now, they’re contradicting their stuff and still have it on my bill. But it still won’t get paid. I still would only pay that 67.47. But if they don’t wanna stop there, they can come and get their equipment because it’s a lot of problem.

    I lost my husband and was afraid. Then I got hacked and some people took advantage of me, that’s why I got ADT. I needed the security, but they couldn’t get a service person out here. They wanted me to do it online with somebody helping me. I can’t do that because I can’t get on a footstool to re-glue something. I asked them to send someone and they did, but it was a long time without.

    Customer service has been great. I’m computer illiterate and being my husband passed away, he did all that stuff. And so, I’m in transition. The people are good, but there are different units they have to send. I called to let them know that the alarms were going off continually. When I would dismiss one window alarm, another one would go out. I said I needed an appointment earlier but they could not do that because it was handled by somebody else.

    They did refund though. They sent me a bill that I called on for stuff and they rebated everything. I also asked for paper billing, but I have to go on and change the billing that I have set up because I can’t do it on my phone. I was able to download DocuSign for their work orders but I couldn’t read their work orders because I can’t see very well.

    They’re very good people but they need to help the disabled a little more. I’m always in the country too. I’m way out in Green Isle, Minnesota where there’s a population of 300. So, they have to come from the city and that could be a challenge for them as well. But they did the best they could and they were very hospitable.

    I recently got a security system from ADT DIY for my new house, but I haven’t moved in yet. Since it’s a new construction, I haven’t set the lock codes or really used it yet. Right now, it just makes the usual beeping sound when you open the door. The equipment, especially the sensor you stick by the door, isn’t very good. It is made of plastic. When it is placed on the door with a screw, another part comes off and falls on the floor. Also, my main door is iron, and the sensor I received is white, which doesn’t match. It would be better if I could get a black one to match the door. Overall, the quality of the material could be improved. It has to be heavy-duty and the door sensors should fit better according to the measurements and what the client needs.

    When I purchased a home, I received a brochure from ADT in my mailbox. The service sounded convincing. I've always used security systems before, but I've never had one where I can set up phone surveillance when I leave and have police contact in just a matter of a few seconds. So, I got it for the safety of my home and my belongings.

    I set up everything myself. It took me a few hours to install three deadbolts and the magnetic door sensor. Then the next day, I hung up the cameras within an hour. Realistically, if one is hands-on, knows how to use a drill and a tape measure, and knows how to follow directions, then everything is straightforward. The instructions were self-explanatory. Everything about the system has been going well. I have no complaints. The system is all self-sufficient and does everything that it says it does.

    I'm not very happy with the service because I had to call so many people for a battery problem. All the other sensors are fine, but I have a sliding door and it tells low battery, and still it's blinking red. And there's not much help I have got. I have ADT for safety. It was self-setup. This got just installed in February 28. But if it's low battery, then what's the point?

    We had ADT at my parents' house. And I got it again at my house. Installing the self-set up was fine. However the Nest Aware wasn't working so, my cameras weren't saving any of the videos. They forgot to set that up. They fixed those cameras and it’s working now but I still have to check on the cameras because it's only been a couple days. I like ADT. It's helping me with my peace of mind.

    Right now, I don't like ADT. Everything is not bad, but when I try to arm or disarm my unit using the app, it would not work. So the alarm went off when my assistant got here and it took her a minute to unlock another door to turn it off. So that's one of the main issues I have. Also, ADT usually would call if the alarm goes off and offers to send someone out, but they said absolutely nothing this time.

    But overall, my experience has been okay. It hasn't been terribly bad. The representative was very knowledgeable and good. It's just that I don't live in the property that I have this alarm at. So when the app doesn't work, I have to physically try to come here or I have to leave the property without the system being armed. So that sucks because I want the convenience of being able to use the app but it does not work sometimes.

    ADT is a good company. If anything goes wrong, it's really easy to get them on the phone, and they try to help you fix whatever is wrong with it. It doesn't take hours on the phone. It's actually quick. That's important for me especially because I run a business from home, so I'm trying to do things as quick as possible. The actual setup was easy, and the functionality is really good. You can do everything from the app on the phone. You don't have to use the keypad. It’s very secured. I had one incident where the sensor was not good in the back door. They tried to do everything with me over the phone first. Then they came and replaced it within three days.

    I’ve seen ADT Self Setup through advertisements. I checked it out and realized it was a service I could probably use. The system has worked excellently. The setup process was easy for me, but that’s because I’m a do-it-yourself person and do a lot of things around the house on my own.     I had ADT at my previous house, but it wasn’t in my name, it was under my sister’s. When I moved to my new house, that’s when I decided to get ADT again.

    The system works perfectly fine. At first, I didn’t have much use for the base. I had to pay for the sensors separately. I was surprised because when I signed up and paid almost $400, they only sent the base and a video camera. They said the doorbell camera was free, but they didn’t send any sensors.

    The instructions didn’t really show me how to set it up like with my front door camera. It came with the tools, but no setup guide. Other than that, it’s actually good for making me feel safe, especially when I’m at work and my kids are home from school. Definitely great.

    It might have taken a little time to set it up, but I had to do some searching on YouTube to set certain things up. But the basics, like the base and video camera, weren’t hard. It was the doorbell camera setup that was tricky. Other than that, the experience was great. I recommend ADT to a lot of people. The pricing and monthly billing are perfect, not high at all.

    I’ve been an ADT customer for a while and recently moved my service to a new house, where a technician came out to install the system. It hasn’t been as good as the last house. We’ve had some issues mostly firmware problems and one device still isn’t working right. When they came out to fix it, they tried to charge me for the appointment because they thought I was the previous homeowner. I had to explain that I was still within my 90-day period, so it’s been a bit of a bumpy transition.

    The phone service has been good, and the first technician was wonderful. The second technician, however, was a bit too familiar and said some inappropriate things to my kids. My 21-year-old daughter was there to meet him. He also charged her, and I had to call back to get that removed from our bill. Unfortunately, the issue he worked on still wasn’t really fixed, that was the only part where we had a bad experience.

    He fixed two things, a door sensor and a smoke alarm but the system still says it’s not working. We keep getting alerts that it’s been tampered with, even though it’s sitting on the wall. It said it was restored, and he told us it was a firmware issue and updated it, but it’s still happening. I haven’t called them back yet because I got the charge from the last visit on my bill.

    I have a great sense of security with the product, actually even better than at our last house since we added the smoke alarm. Even though that’s the part that hasn’t worked perfectly, I still feel more secure having it.

    I’ve had service before with other companies and I let it lapse. My homeowner insurance lady told me I could get about a $42 discount if I got a security service. So I went on the internet and picked about six companies and compared them.

    ADT has a good reputation and just by talking with their consultant, the price sounded very competitive. We started out at $29.95, and after I told him I had somebody who would do it for $25.95, they were willing to work with me and we ended up paying $23.95. He also made it sound like it would be easy. We were looking at possibly getting a system for our home in South Carolina and one for our home in North Carolina, but I decided we would just start with South Carolina. If we liked it, we would add the system to the other home.

    I did the self-install and setting up the system was very simple. It’s also very easy to monitor. We have another home in North Carolina, and we’ve used the system probably about three times in the short time we’ve had it and haven’t had any problems. The bright blue sign in the yard really shows up.

    Somehow the salesman put the address down as the North Carolina home, so we had to call customer service to sort it out. We had several door monitors to put up and the instructions were very clear. There’s also online assistance if you need it.

    The agent we worked with was great. We went through about three people and it seemed like they kept passing us along, but once we got to the right person, the young lady was outstanding. It wasn’t difficult and we got everything handled in the afternoon.

    Overall, our feeling of security has improved. Our mountain home is a little over three hours away, so it’s nice to know you’ve got something this modern for it. Our son stopped by one day to have lunch and was going to roll out our trash can. He didn’t have any trouble disarming the system. We’re very pleased so far.

    ADT Self Setup was way cheaper than having an expert come out to do it. I like the system and the functionality because it’s a convenience. Everything can be done through one place, the app. It also connects to most of the other services, like Google Home.

    The ADT Self Setup was rather simple as far as Bluetooth and scanning everything, and I like the fact that I can watch it from my phone. I set the sensor off on myself like three times, though. It also fell off the wall and set itself off. So, I kept thinking I was getting a burglar, but no burglar. Then I put it on the couch, and a mouse must have gone across the couch and set it off again. So, I hung it up like I was supposed to so it quit falling. Now, I think I have to get a new battery because the battery in it is dead.

    The first representative who took my original order was great, but when I got my equipment, I thought I had too many sensors and didn’t get the tablet. I thought I was supposed to get the tablet, the door cam, and the two sensors for the window and door. I have way too many sensors, so I probably won't hang all of them up.

    As far as getting it straightened out, they wanted to charge me for the camera, but I told them no and that they should listen to the recorded conversation. Nobody on the team went back and listened to the recorded conversation. It’s not hard to get in contact with them, except for getting somebody to listen to the original conversation. So they finally gave me the camera, which made a huge difference, but I’ve yet to receive the bill. I would rather have the tablet and the round thing, though, because then I could have just mounted it next to the front door.

    I've known about ADT for a long time and have been a customer for a couple of months. As far as their services, it's fine, but I'm not too happy with some of the products. The doorbell camera doesn't stay charged, and the cold weather kills it. I don't know why they use it because it's not a plug-in camera. It's like a wireless battery camera, and it dies very quickly. I've had to have it replaced already because it wouldn't even charge correctly.

    ADT has a setup system that is wireless. I’ve had them for over 10 years and started off with cameras, sensors, and everything. It works pretty fine and it’s an excellent product. The alarm system feature makes me feel comfortable. I’m a truck driver and I’m usually gone from home for two to three weeks at a time, so I like that I’m able to operate it remotely from my phone.

    The customer service team is extremely professional and courteous. I’ve never had any problems over the years I’ve had their system. The price has gone up though, but it’s comfortable and it’s worth it. The system I have now is $35. I have paid as much as $62 for the system I had at my other home, but that system had more parts to it than this one.

    I would really like to get out of my contract with ADT because I've had so many issues with them. It has been incredibly frustrating and time-consuming because I've spent so much time on the phone with them, and overall it has not been a good experience.

    First, when I first got the system, they gave me a sensor that didn’t work. My alarm went off in the middle of the night and I was without service for 16 days. They gave me a bad sensor on one of my doors, the cops got called, and it was a whole ordeal. I couldn’t set my alarm because I had a bad sensor and the people on the phone didn’t know how to tell me how to bypass it. I spent hours on the phone with ADT. It was difficult to get to the right person because they bounce you around constantly. Sometimes I was transferred to two or three different people.

    Second, I’ve had billing issues. They overcharged me when my system went out because of the sensor. It was because of their equipment, not because of anything I did. They sent me a $250 bill for the technician to come out and fix the sensor in their equipment that was broken. I called and told them I was really upset about it because it was their equipment and not something I did to the system. They ended up crediting back the $250, but again I spent about an hour and a half on the phone.

    Issues aside, the system works great and it did exactly what it was designed to do. When I had that issue with the sensor, it alerted ADT right away and the cops came soon after. The system functions well. It’s more of the customer service that’s really frustrating. I’ve talked to a ton of people there and most of them are pretty good. I had one who had a bad attitude and seemed like she didn’t care about her job at all. She was on the account management team, but the majority of them have been helpful.

    The ADT Self Setup is still a little tricky for me. The first time, a guy came over and helped me set it up. He was very diligent, so I liked that. Then there are times I have to get my nephew, Jesse, to come over and help me set it up to turn the alarm on when I leave. I go into the settings and sometimes have trouble setting the alarm because I don’t understand everything in the settings. It doesn’t help that the way they put things in the online tools is difficult for me to understand.

    When somebody tried to break in, the system alerted the authorities. I like that it helps protect my possessions in my one-bedroom apartment. I have lots of sneakers and five clothing racks full of clothes and leather jackets with collars.

    Overall, I like the system, but they took money out of my account that I wasn’t aware of. I thought I would be able to pay it myself every month when I get my money on the 3rd, but they took about $54 out of my account instead.

    The house that I purchased almost three years ago had signs up for ADT. They had it in the past, and where I live you really need to have cameras and everything. So I called them up and signed up. Their sales representative was fantastic.

    I have set up several calls and they just keep transferring me and telling me, “Oh, we need to schedule an appointment for so and so to call you this day.” Then we do that and they go, “Oh, we can’t figure it out. So, we’re gonna schedule you with this person.” It feels like I’m in a constant scheduling loop.

    I’ve been paying for the renewal for three months and I still can’t connect my cameras or log into my account. I paid cash for my cameras, so it feels like money wasted at this point.

    We’ve grown up with ADT our entire life. While our interactions with the sales rep were fine, they should figure out their customer service issues. When we were calling to downgrade our system, we got transferred for about an hour before someone actually helped us. Some of the people in their customer service department were not actually interested in helping. They would just transfer me over until someone in the same role would actually help me.

    There were also times when, for no reason, the entire system would go down. We also had an issue about two years ago when we had to call them because our system got hacked. It wasn’t the best and definitely not great.

    I heard about ADT’s self setup when I was putting my car together. I realized that I’m pretty handy and could just do it myself, so I decided to do it on my own. The system setup was fine, but I still haven’t received one of the items. One of the door and window sensors also came damaged, and I still haven’t received any feedback on how we’re going to replace that.

    I did follow up but got a lot of dodgy answers. They were asking me to file a claim with FedEx, but FedEx rejected the claim. Now I have to reach back out to ADT to find out what the next steps are.

    Where I'm located now, I don't have the pro set up with ADT so I went with the self setup. I had them for 9 years where I used to live and saw no reason to consider changing to somebody else. I was pretty comfortable and familiar with their system. The set up originally was tough for me because I'm not a very hands-on type person, but I finally did get it set up with them after several calls and a couple things that I had to get rectified. It was fairly simple, just the instructions weren't very clear. I was able to get a person on the phone to help me right away and customer service was good.

    Being remote, I wanted something that was going to be monitored. But I have very slow internet, like between 7 and 13 megabytes per second, so I’m not able to use the camera because the Wi-Fi comes and goes. Also, my understanding when I put up the door sensor and Nest doorbell was that the battery life should be approximately 10 months, but I received a Wi-Fi alert one day maybe two weeks in that my door sensor battery was already dead and that my doorbell battery was also low because of the low temperatures. That's concerning. I did speak with ADT and they let me know my options as far as buying out of my contract, but that was the only option given. I’m very dissatisfied at this point.
