This particular appliance collects lint inside the machine and when enough lint is in there, the appliance just stops drying. No error message, no nothing. LG does not document this, provide information on how to repair and could not provide the name of an authorized rep within my state that could repair it. I've paid Sears twice (once per year for the time I've owned the thing). LG says that Sears is an authorized service rep but won't pay for the repair.
Since the "repair" is actually a redesign (no external access to where the lint builds up, they are mum. I had terrible time with customer service and after two years, still no resolution.

On 10.01.12, I complained that our LG Front load washing machine model no. F 1056LDP was not working. The service person came and spotted that panel wire was cut and told that the panel was out of stock. After a gap of 15 days, he came and changed the wire and left without checking due to current failure at that time. He assured that he will come after half an hour when the current comes to check the running of the machine. We paid Rs.500/-to him even though the machine was under warranty. But the machine was not working even after changing of wire. So again, we phoned to M/s. Golden Enterprises, Chennai-60 but nobody took the phone. Even after 20 days nobody turned up to rectify the machine. Again, we spoke with LG Customer Care and registered a complaint. But then also till date no one came to even see the machine.
Due to this we have suffered a lot and it is really a mental agony after having spent Rs.20,000/- on the machine. We do not know where to complain about the irregularities in the services of LG company. It is very disheartening to note that such an esteemed organization has failed to cater to the needs of a customer.

Purchased my washer machine 1/3/08. The drum in my washer stopped turning, no warning lights of any kind came on. Called LG and because I didn't get their extent warranty, my washer repair for parts only was going to be $500.00 plus not including labor. I had to use my daughter Lowe's card to buy another washer. Having a washer for only 2 year paying $880.11 from Home Depot. Called LG customer services and LG Customer interactive Center. They said my model washer was made in 2006, don't know what that had to do with anything because been made in 2006 and with me purchasing it in 2008, my washer should've lasted long then that. Please can someone help me? Don't understand how big company get a way with beating us out of our money and nothing can be done. Angry! There is a defect with this washer!

After my husband returned home from Iraq, we thought we deserved an upgrade of our 15 year old hand-me-down washer and dryer. We purchased the LG front loading washer (model # WM2487HRM). It began smelling horribly, not long after. We have had to leave the door and the dispenser drawer open, put dryer sheets in to help with smell in between washes, regularly try to "wipe out" the disgusting rubber seal, after every wash, because of the remaining water, and still it stinks. The printing on the machines is rubbing off, and the "seams" on the exterior of the dryer seem to be disintegrating.
Every time I wipe it clean, the color of the machine (red) wipes off! We also have terrible vibrations with it. On January 18, 2012, we had a "service technician" come to check why it sounded like it was so far off balance, that it was going to crack the interior. Of course, the extended warranty provider, Federal Warranty Service Corporation, sent out the repair company of their choosing. He checked that the machine was indeed level (we already tried that), still it shook so bad that he had to remove the top of the washer, and proceeded to tell me "wow! You should see how bad it is! That thing was going "crazy" inside there!" He said the "bearing" was bad, and warned that with continued use, it might seize up.
He also said that he wouldn't even attempt to replace it, because of the man hours it would require, and they only pay him a flat fee of $95 to repair it. It just wasn't worth his time. He said he would contact the service contract provider with the recommendation, to replace the machine altogether, and even recommended that we get a top loader next time! We still haven't gotten any resolution, and our washer is worse than ever! LG, Home Depot, and Federal Warranty Service Corporation should all be ashamed of themselves for producing, selling, and attempting to maintain service contracts on this washing machine! It is the last time I will I purchase from any of them! Class action suit? Count me in!

The gasket, and inside the gasket where I can't get to it, is solid slimy mold and mildew. I have done everything that has been recommended by technicians, phone support, and internet users and nothing will keep my towels from smelling horrible when we use them. There is a brown, gunky build up all around the gasket and under it, in addition to the mildew, that I can't get rid of. I would not wish this machine on my worst enemy!

Fix for mildew smell in LG washer: Use a half cup or so of plain old cheap vinegar in every load. It takes the smell away. Add it with the detergent you use. We use 2 or 3 cups in heavy loads of towels. Our old top loader, my mother's front loader, and our new LG all needed it. Nothing we ever did took the smell away. For us it was a combination of the water in our town and our washers. Just try it. Your clothes will not smell like vinegar. We hated that smell and this fixed it. Anytime we forget to add it, we get the smell again. A gallon of cheap vinegar costs 2, maybe 3 bucks at the most? Seriously, try it on a few loads of towels and you'll be happy.

I bought LG washing machine and dryer, model wd-12316rdk, two years back (supposed it's 5 years guarantee). In the first year, the main board had burned and I called the agency. (They told me that this model has main default which is this one. So why do you still sell it? I really don't know.) They didn't want to change it then they changed it after pressure from my side. One day later, it's burned again then they changed again and now it's getting burned for the third time. Three times within two years is really unacceptable. It cost me a lot almost $1000 so I really need to be compensated by a new one or I will raise and file official complaint against your company in front of the Egyptian courts.

I have read through almost every comment on here and have to agree with how dissatisfied I am and what a disappointment these machines are. Class action suit please! I have the squeaky tub and mildew/musty smell I can't get rid of. Additionally, hot water is non-existent. It seems in my machine and I can't seem to select 'Sanitize' no matter what I press. Oh, and bleach? I can't tell you how many loads of clothes have been ruined because the bleach does not fully wash out of the dispenser in one wash. It leaks into other loads afterwards.
Seriously, a class-action suit needs to be started. How is it that a company / product has so many widespread complaints and concerns with mostly nothing being done about these problems and yet are still able to market their products without any consequences? Lastly, "Sandy" who has commented on this page is obviously affiliated with LG. I could go on and on with many valid points decimating her comments, but suffice it to say that a washing machine that you have to 'baby' to keep running is a piece of garbage.

I have the same problem with the moldy smell. I had a service guy in today and I am going to follow his advise and see what happens. The washer is already smelling better! His advise; First, he adjusted the front feet so the machine sloped slightly back so the front gasket drains fully, then he showed me how to drain the washer by using the dials (no one explained this to me!). Turn on machine, don't touch the main dial, go to spin speed button and press it. Display should read 13 minutes, then start washer. This will completely drain any standing water! Good luck **. He also recommended to use half a cup dish washing detergent in the drum, wash on full hot cycle. Do this at your own discretion, I am trying this tonight!

I have posted here before about the smell from my LG Tromm washer. I have been reading other posts regarding leaving the door open and peeling paint. I have always left the door of my washer open and, as I've posted before, still get that awful smell. We are at the point now of needing to replace the washing machine after 3 years because our clothes smell so bad. We have tried all the front-loading washing machine cleaners we can find and have used bleach in the tub clean as per the owner's manual.
One of the worst smelling items is our wonderful towels. After showering, we have to remember not to breathe deeply while drying our faces! And I just noticed the paint is peeling off the front of the machine, near one of the “seams”. It is almost like the way wet latex paint will just wipe off if. It is painted over an oil-based paint. What can we do about this? I really can't afford to buy another washing machine already.

The dryer had a complete computer board failure ($200 repair) and now the washer has a transmission issue that not surprisingly is not covered by the 10 year transmission warranty. I was cleaning the exterior of my LG washer WM2701H with a soft dry dishtowel and the printing around the dial wiped off. Never in my life have I had any appliance that I have cleaned on the outside that the printing just wiped off. I was not using any cleaners or liquid on it. The service person I talked to said that the printing coming off was not covered by the warranty. To me that is not the point.
In this day and age with the technology we have as a country, you should be able to buy a washer that when cleaning, the printing doesn't wipe off. The washer manual say that the outside of the machine can be cleaned with warm water and mild, non abrasive household detergent. Immediately wipe off any spills with a soft, damp cloth. I guess LG doesn't care about the consumer. I'm so disappointed in their non-response to problems people are having with such expensive washers and dryers. I'm surprised Sears still sales LG products. It's giving them a bad name too.

Our 4 year old LG front load washing machine started making a lot of noise during the spin cycle. We contacted LG who referred us to call an Authorized LG repairman. Well after a $100.00 service call that lasted about 30 minutes, we were told that the drum bearings were bad and not covered under the warranty and the machine would probably not be worth repairing.
I will never buy another LG appliance again. It’s no wonder why LG has such a low rate of repairs on Consumer Reports magazine because their machines are not worth repairing!

I purchased the LG HE top loader (machine # WT 4801CW) in December 2011. It has never effectively cleaned a single load of clothes. Shirts come out of the wash still smelling of perfume/cologne; sheets come out with large dry spots where they never got wet. Washing in cold or hot water does not matter, nor does setting the washer on the highest level for soil and the extra high level of spin speed. I do not use a clothes dryer, so I use fabric softener but the clothes are so wrinkled even if I remove them the instant the cycle stops that every single item would need to be ironed. Even when washing very small loads (one pair jeans, 2 shirts, 2 pairs socks) there are dry spots on the clothes until the final rinse cycle, so they are obviously not getting clean.
This machine will not remove any stain at all, no matter how minor. It also takes over 60 minutes to wash one load and has increased the number of loads I do a week despite having a much larger capacity than my previous washer. Luckily, when we bought it at Best Buy, they provided a 30-day return policy. My new washer will arrive this weekend. I'm back to a front load Frigidaire, which is what I had before. I never had a single complaint about that machine. It lasted 18 years and never had a single service call, cleaned every single thing we ever put in it, and was very inexpensive to operate as well as having a much more reasonable price than anything else we saw on the market.

I thought a purchase price of $900 would give me a machine that would last like my previous washing machines, both 12 and 15 years.
After six years, a pump went out costing $160. Within another month, a rotor went out, along with an outside basket. I was told that this would start at $500 parts and labor. My opinion at this point is until more money means a longer lasting machine.
Buy something cheap and replace just as often. I will not buy another LG.

I purchased LG washing machine model #WT5101HW on 6-26-2011. In December, I realized that the "hot"/"cold" cycle was not hot. The water was really not even warm. I called LG and after speaking to numerous people, they agreed to send a tech out. On December 20, 2011, the tech arrived only to inform me that it was an ongoing problem and there was nothing he could do. It was the way LG designed the machine. On the hot cycle, it adds both hot and cold water so that is why it is not hot. I was furious!
I called LG and they informed me that if I wanted to wash my clothes in hot water to use the sanitary cycle which is a 3 hour cycle or the bright whites cycle. My washing machine has an internal heater that is supposed to heat the water to 122 degrees on bright whites and 158 on sanitary. On my bright whites, it is only 90 degrees and not sure what it is on sanitary. LG is advertising that they have a hot cycle when in fact it is not hot and it makes no sense to add cold water to perfectly good hot water and then heat it back up! How is this energy efficient?
I called LG again today and now I am being informed that the heater only works on sanitary and if I want hotter water on my cycles, I need to turn up my hot water heater. On page 7 on the instruction manual, it clearly says, "the heater increases water temperature and provides better cleaning for sanitary and bright whites.” So, even LG is admitting hotter water cleans better! This machine is a complete joke. LG should not be able to advertise that this machine has a hot cycle when it fact it does not.

Every other load, this HE top load machine (wt5001cw) goes off balance. At the end of the spin cycle, the machine repeats the rinse/spin cycle over and over until it goes off balance or I manually stop it. This causes the clothes to never spin fully dry. I've contacted LG and they won't do anything, because I can't find the original bill of sale from Sears - although Sears did give me a printout showing a summary of my purchase from 10/3/2010 which includes the model number of the LG Washer, but not the purchase price.
According to a repair estimate, the parts and labor for just a new control panel will be over $400, which still does not solve the balance problem. The machine is only 14 months old and LG doesn't care. By the way, I've been using a family member's new Whirlpool HE top loader and its working great, washing the same clothes without ever going off balance. I only say this because LG will probably blame the balancing issue on the clothes or me.

We have had nothing but problems with our LG front loader. Any "efficiency" savings were eaten up in repairs and having to wash on super duty just to get stuff cleaned. The odor problem is the absolute worst. I just pulled out the detergent area and it was absolutely caked with black mold. It was the worst on the areas where the water is dispensed through. This means that no "solutions" of solvents would ever get to that source because it's before the detergent area entry.
We use the special detergents and they take care of he smell for only a few days. Who wants to spend all that time and money maintaining a washing machine. It is supposed to help us simplify our lives. I also had to drain it many times manually to remove the small items that get into and clog the drainage system. How does that possibly happen? That is a seriously flawed design problem. I have read many of the other complaints and they are all the same. At what point can we file a class action lawsuit against this company which has a very poor quality product?

I purchased an Lg Washer and dryer a little over a year ago. Within the first year I had to have the washer repaired a total of four times with three of those repairs being done for the same issue. When I bought the washer at Pacific Sales in San Dimas Ca, I purchased an extended warranty. Just recently, the washer began to leak water again. I contacted the warranty department and notified them of the problem. They sent a technician out and he deemed the washer unrepairable since it had been repaired for the same thing several times. I then contacted LG and told them that they needed to replace my washer or give me my money back. This washer is a lemon. They told me that I was out of warranty and that I had to deal with my extended warranty company. I told them that I already had and that since the problem was a pre-existing one, they would have to replace it.
So after two months, I still don't have a washer that works and not only that, I have a wash room that has been damaged due to the leaks from the washer. My wood floor has begun to warp. We purchased an LG front load washer and dryer and they both work fairly well. However, the front of the washing machine is rusting! Yes rusting, right by the soap dispenser. It sounds ridiculous that after 4 years the machine is rusting, but worse than that was the company's response. LG does not care. They act like they care, they tell you they care, they express their sorrow, but they won't fix the issue. They do absolutely nothing! They expressed to me that I must continually dry that area. "In the manual it tells you to keep it dry! "
Not that the design is bad, not that the dish should not leak, but that by not constantly drying that area it could rust! I asked if they ever heard of this happening and they said no. Then I searched online and found out, that was not the case. This is absolutely a problem! A $1,000 problem. Supposedly a reputable company but what a piece of garbage! We purchased an LG high-efficiency washer several years ago and have had the same problems described by others.
The washing machine smells of mildew often and I tried to control it by running empty cycles with bleach and also empty baking soda loads. The baking soda sometimes does not completely come out of the detergent drawer and we then have to do another rinse cycle. Another problem is it stains on our clothes. They appear randomly and we are unable to remove them.
It has been very expensive and time-consuming to run extra empty loads to try and keep the washer clean, get rid of the smell and hopefully get rid of whatever is causing the stains. The biggest expense for us has been the ruined clothes.
This is a never-ending problem and the only solution is purchasing a new washer that works properly! This LG has been an incredible money pit and disappointment!

I found this site while researching LG FL washers. I have had an LG WM2010CW washer for years now. I went through the mold issue and solved it with common sense. I'm not disparaging anyone here with mold issues but these suggestions fixed my issue which was minor in comparison.
Clean out the filter at the bottom of the machine; then run a clean cycle with a cup of vinegar. Pour it into the dispenser for detergent, not the bleach dispenser. When the cycle is done, re-clean the filter and wipe out interior with vinegar. Get out the goop manually. Remove the dispenser drawer and wipe out the entire compartment with vinegar. Allow to air dry overnight leaving out the drawer. Replace the drawer and run a rinse to remove the vinegar. Quit using fabric softener or dryer sheets and switch to an unscented powder detergent. You need to be able to smell the machine. Use 2 tbsp. per load for moderate water, 1 if your water is soft. Adjust up or down as needed from there. Fill the softener compartment with white vinegar. Run an extra rinse on every load to work on the buildup.
If you are using scented detergent and it's still strong-smelling after the cycle, it isn't rinsing out. To monitor rinsing, add a gallon of water through dispenser drawer during rinse cycle, or more if needed, to see water. If detergent isn't rinsing out, either the oil or dirt is in your clothes. Do this for a month or so as every load of clothes will be reintroducing mold to your machine. Fabric softener is made from animal fat and will get rancid and breed mold. It also leaves fatty, greasy residue on your clothes that detergent must cut through. Detergents are alkaline so the mold in your washer needs that environment. The vinegar is a mild acid. Once your washer is back to normal and you have detergent dosage worked out, use a max of a tbsp. of softener or mix softener (50/50) with vinegar. The clean cycle on your washer is for maintenance. It isn't designed to eradicate a major problem. It took awhile for the machine to get in such bad shape and it will take time to fix it.

I am so fed up with my two LG front load washers which I purchased in August, 2006. 1 1/2 years ago the cold water valve had to be replaced in #1 washer. Six months ago, the hot water valve had to be replaced in #2 washer. Today the cold water valve had to be replaced in #1 washer again. I paid over $2,000.00 for these washers. Doesn't anything last more than 4 years? Next time I'm buying top loading, cheap washers so when they break, I will just throw them out and buy new ones.

I've already posted my complaint on this site, but I forgot to mention that I had to pay to have the door hinge replaced because it had corroded ''due to bleach spilling onto it", the only bleach I use is when I am using the Tub Clean cycle to attempt to remove the stink and slime. I have never spilled the bleach so the dispenser must leak. I believe the cause of the leaking might be due to the LG repairman puncturing the bleach compartment because I was having problems with bleach remaining in the chamber after the wash cycle and then bleaching clothing in the next wash load (dark clothing). Biggest mistake I have ever made in appliance purchase.

Up until recently, I was under the impression that I was having fluke problems with my LG Tromm front loader but I'm beginning to wonder if this is just standard for this machine! We purchased the washer in 2007 when we moved into our new home. We previously had Bosch and Miele machines which I loved but thought we'd try the LG. The slimy, smelly gunk is impossible to fully remove even with the tub clean cycle and bleach and quickly returns again. At times, I will find disgusting streaks of the smelly slime on clothing (especially sheets). Our clothes and towels have a permanent smell.
Our whites are yellow and if there is any staining on our clothing I know it will not come out in the wash. With my Bosch and Miele machines our whites were pristine and if there was a heavy stain that didn't fully come out in the wash. I knew that the staining would disappear next time I washed the item. We tend to move every five years or so and I am counting the days, not because I want to move but because I want to be rid of this machine. If I could give this machine zero stars I would.

I called the service department and we were unable to troubleshoot it over the phone. He referred me to the one and only LG repair service in Cincinnati for repairs. The parts are (maybe) covered, but not the labor. Just for the service to come out is $80. Unbelievable! We loved this machine initially. It wasn't three months though before we started to notice that not only were our clothes not getting clean, but they smelled horrible. We have to run bleach regularly and use vinegar with every load. Some comments suggested the contents of the laundry are to blame, but judging from the complaints, we are not alone. Did anyone get this solved? All in all, this machine works great (and looks good). They said I could only purchase a new console. I explained that the machine is about 1 1/2 years old, and that this lettering is poorly done. They repeated that it is cosmetic abuse. I paid over $800.00 dollars for the washer, and told the supervisor that I had a Kenmore for over 25 years, and none of the lettering came off. It had a leaking Tromm front loader. This ruined my 180 sq. ft. of ash hardwood flooring costing approximately $2000.00. After the floor was replaced and a pan placed under the machine, I have noticed that it fills up about once a week. This leak is coming from the dispenser tray! I noticed water and soap residue on the inside of the front panel that had also caused the door hinge to start rusting. After closer inspection of the dispenser during operation, I can see water hitting the angled section of the tray and running over the side. LG said a repair tech would have to fix this, but without a newly designed part, it will just do the same thing again. This is not caused by too much soap as some might suggest because it does this with or without adding soap! The only solution I see is to buy another brand after spending over $1000.00 a year for a poorly designed product.

Obviously an engineering design flaw, the tub cannot empty completely. Thank heaven for Lestoil!
I do not use bleach, but have found what look like bleach spots on my towels. This is very disheartening as we recently remodeled our bathrooms and all my towels are new. I'm embarrassed to let guests use them because they look terrible. Now, a new problem has arisen. My "clean" laundry comes out of the washer with large gray blotches that look like they were splashed with muddy water. And if I don't take them out of the washer immediately after the cycle is finished, my laundry has a hundred small, dirt spots on them (the same size as the holes on the drum). At invitation via email from LG, I spent quite a long time writing a careful, truthful evaluation of my fancy still-under-warranty LG washer WM3875HVCA, which has had about seven or eight service visits. Both computer panels have been changed out; the water valve has been replaced; the door latch has been replaced; and still, the thing locks when I try to open the door post-cycle. Also, water continues to leak into the drawer serviced by the water valves, and the supposed anti-wrinkle option, which an LG representative told me directly on the phone is supposed to be constant for the eight hours as indicated, appears to do nothing. It is never on, whenever I check on it after a cycle.
I had written a grammatically correct, no swear words, truthful review, and picked only two starts out of five. Would anyone like to guess how LG responded? They denied allowing my review to be published on their site, supposedly claiming it did not meet their guidelines. Um, would those guidelines include singing only praises of their products (i.e.. if you give a negative review, they don't want to hear it, publish it, or know of it)?
I am completely disgusted with this situation. LG's email denying my review's acceptance told me to 'submit another review' as if anything similarly negative would receive their approval for site-publication.
As long as I don't rave about this washer, I suspect they are never going to allow anyone to see what my experience has been because then, prospective buyers would take a pause before considering a similar purchase. Indeed, the only reviews, which I read, on LG's site are all glowing about my washer. Ha.

I have an LG Tromm Washer and Dryer. I have only had it for a few years. As others have complained, the washer has a foul smell due to the mold that grows as a result of the water getting trapped in the rubber door seal (poor design/manufacturer defect). It's not like LG did not know about it. Look at all of the complaints. There is definitely negligence on their part at this point. At the very least, there should have been a label put on the machine that warns you not to use it in a small space, which is unrealistic since most laundry rooms are not large. How come this product has not been recalled due to the health hazard?
In addition now, I can't find the reason why the dryer does not make any noise (although it does turn on) and the washer won't even turn on! Maybe this is a blessing in disguise to get rid of these machines. Unfortunately, most people are being duped out of a small fortune to buy them without being fully informed of the health hazard. This may need additional legal action.

Trail Appliances, where we bought the unit, is going to charge $90 for a serviceman to come out. Then $85 per hour to assess the problem. This is before we even pay for the repair! It will be cheaper to just replace the unit than repair it.
Avoid LG if you want to avoid headaches and costly repairs.

I own an LG washer, model wm2050cw, and it is a piece of junk. I bought it for $598.00 from Home Depot on 3-15-10. After 8 months, it started to leak. It's not just a small leak, it filled the whole laundry room floor not once but 3 times. The repairman LG sent blamed it on me. He said I was using too much detergent and told me to only use 1 tsp. I did and the thing still leaked and my clothes were not clean. The repairman eventually replaced a mushroom shaped gasket that he admitted was a design flaw and that LG had no intention of fixing. Now, the machine is 18 months old. And everything comes out smelling awful, especially towels and washcloths. I have done everything LG says to do - leaving the door open, pulling out the detergent tray, running the clean cycle, using less detergent, etc. but nothing helps. I now have to buy another washer because I can't stand it any longer. My previous washer was a plain GE front load and it never gave me one problem. I sold it because it was old. I wish I had it back. LG needs to be run out of town!

We purchased a LG Washer and Dryer on March 26th 2011. On September 23rd 2011, the Washer (WT5101HW) created a very large bang and on inspection, we found the washer had rotated more then 100 degrees on itself, luckily not tearing the water lines from the connections. The top portion of the machine, lid and control panel, were no longer connected to the main chassis and were lying to one side. The drum was not on any of its mounts and the side panels around the drum were all pushed out, as if there had been an internal explosion. I now have two significant holes in the dry wall walls on either side of the unit and the thought that if any of my children were in the vicinity when this happened, they could have experienced serious injury or worse. We are in the process of working with LG on this issue but after reading the list of complaints about LG's lack of customer support, I am not optimistic of a satisfactory resolution.

I called LG customer service to ask if they would pay to replace any parts since I had 3 failed parts at once and they were of no help at all. They would not even let me speak with a "supervisor". I had a service contract and Best Buy was great in sending a repair person to troubleshoot and ultimately replaced the motor. We still have the occasional OE code, but LG told us to reduce the amount of detergent and always use high-efficiency detergent.
The smell started and there was a black mold around the front tub seal and smelly clothes. Initially, I thought that the smell was due to sweaty football gear, but it continued after the season. We have used vinegar, bleach, you name it, yet it still smells.
Now, I've had two leaks that flooded my laundry room and I can't find the cause. My guess is that the front door seal is not seating properly every time.

I bought the LG Front Loader 4 years ago at Home Depot and it has ruined comforters, sheets and clothes with greasy black stains which don't come out, especially if you don't notice them and put the item in the dryer. If you catch them and rewash with bleach, they become light brown stains, but don't go away. It doesn't happen all the time, but often enough to completely frustrate us. We always use the detergents, no softeners and some liquid bleach. We run the tub clean cycle once a month and wipe out the nasty black gunk from the gasket regularly. I have very 3 sensitive children that have allergies and I have asthma as well. This is harming, not helping out health! Also, the detergent dispenser drawer somehow gets stuck a number of times. The washer broke this June 2011. We had Geek Squad come out, it took four weeks for them to get back to replace the drum and three other pieces that attach to the drum. Four weeks! Then it broke again six weeks later.
Same thing, we tried to get Geek Squad out again and they are so hard to work with to schedule a time. They should realize people have jobs! I called Best Buy to get help and they gave me LG's direct line. She was very helpful and friendly. But then the service tech called and his first words were, "Do you agree to pay for this service call?" and told us it was not the drum, it was a shock absorber.

It has extreme wash wear even with minimal HE detergent in a medium size load with extra water and slow spin speed on delicate ones.
In addition, when it arrived, it was poorly color matched so the two appliances looked awful side by side (one crisp white and one grayish white). For the first week of washing, the machine stank like chemicals and it transferred to the clothing/linens. I managed to clear that up with repeated scrubbing of the gasket and religious maintenance schedule of hot bleach washes, leaving the door and detergent drawer open at all times when not in use. I left my house at 8:30 a.m. the next morning, went through laundry room, no problem. My daughter came home from summer school and called me to say our house is flooded (I have 10,000 wood floors throughout the main level) and our washer door is open. I said I will be there a.s.a.p. I came home with water all over my laundry room, kitchen, breakfast nook, family room, bathroom and hallway. My husband sucked up over 40 gallons of water with a shop-vac. It also went into my vents and down into the crawlspace.
I called to have a repairman come out. He pushed some buttons to get the error code in the window so he could figure out the problem. He turned it off. There were no lights, no power - nothing. While standing there talking to him, the drum just started spinning. We heard the water valves open up and then the water started to fill again. All right before our eyes! He said the main control board went out. It filled with water and because it wasn't in a cycle, the door wasn't locked so the pressure from the water pushed the door open.
I called LG that night and told them, they gave me a case number. For the next 4 days, I called them to see what they were going to do about it. Finally on the 4th day, I said I am running out of patience and I need a person that can help me NOW. They gave me a number to their legal department. From there, I got a lady who asked me to provide her with things such as pictures, 2 estimates, my old washer parts that were removed by the repairman and a completed form that she e-mailed. I sent everything to her within 24 hours except the estimates. I ended up getting 4 estimates and all of them were within a few hundred dollars of each other - I have 30,000 in DAMAGES.
For a couple of weeks, I dealt with the legal department with them saying they had to test my old parts. The third week, I was informed that my case was transferred to their insurance company and my control board was sent to Korea. By this time, I have probably put in over 100 hours communicating, researching, meeting with contractors, etc. So everyday I kept e-mailing asking them to please tell me my test results. I have begged and pleaded because my daughter is HIGHLY allergic to mold and I fear the longer I wait, the better the chances are that I am going to have mold. I have cried, screamed, stressed, fought with my husband because we are so stressed out and don't know why they can't simply acknowledge what has happened and take responsibility for this.
So I googled President of LG, found a phone number, called it and I got connected to his secretary's voice mail. I, of course, left a message. On Monday, I got a call from their insurance company saying ok this is what we can do. In order to do more tests, they have to "open" the control panel. And by doing that, it will destroy that part and no further testing can be done; Or we can send the part to the United States. You can find, hire and pay for your own expert and we can have our expert and your expert test it together; Or we can give you 50% of your claim and you can live with it.
I said I will make a couple of calls and call you back. After talking with whom I needed, I decided to tell them keep the part in Korea, do what you have to do. I know the part is bad so continue your testing. I did it that way because how would I EVER be able to tell that is MY part that they sent back. The next day she calls me again and says our attorney will prepare a Product Testing Agreement and Waiver for you to sign and send it to you Fed EX. I am so angry at this point and I am not sure what to do. My daughter is not feeling well due to her allergies, I am sure. She also has asthma and now she has headaches, her chest has been hurting and now she is telling me that her nose burns.
LG, you need to stop making products. Period. You don't care about your customers, you care about the almighty dollar! An outstanding company would stand behind their products and take care of their customers so they would continue to be a customer. I will never buy anything with those initials on it ever again and I will make sure everyone I know doesn't own an LG product as well. To go through something like this has been extremely upsetting, but to continue to go through unnecessary crap to prove your washer malfunctioned (I even have the repairman that witnessed it) is the worst customer service I have ever heard of. At one point, like 3 weeks into this, the legal department asked me "what cycle was your washer in when it leaked?". I wanted to pull her through the computer and choke her! I said: First of all, it wasn't in a CYCLE and it didn't LEAK. It turned itself on, filled with water, pushed the door open and continued to poor water into my house. The machine even flooded the kitchen and laundry room again, as the payment for the service call was being processed, for he left the valves on after his inspection.
I consider this machine new since it was purchesed about a year and a half ago. I expected LG to step up to the plate here and provide a reasonable response. I purchased a front loading LG Trom in January 2007 from Home Depot. This was to replace my Maytag that lasted 16 years. A couple of months ago it began making a terrible sound during the spin cycle. I called the repairman, who said it would cost $800 to fix it. The bearing and rollers and tub shaft were going out. His statement was "they are designed to fail between 3 and 5 years". I called LG and spoke to two different individuals, who were very nice, but basically said, sorry. They don't stand behind their product and I hope they go out of business. I am also disappointed that Home Depot sells products with such poor quality.

Bought a new LG washer model WT5001CW from our local Home Depot. Two days after having it delivered and installed by Home Depot we go to do our first load of laundry and get an error code on the front of the machine. The manual says to call for service, so we call LG's service number listed in the manual. The young lady I spoke with at LG was most unhelpful, her response was because the washer was less than 30 days old they would not service it that I had to return it to the store for an exchange. Have called my local Home Depot twice and am getting no where with them it amazes me that neither the store or the manufacture seem to care that they sold me a defective product.

I purchased an LG Tromm steam washer and dryer (WM2487 & DLE7177) in Sept. 2007. Somehow, I was spared the stinky mold/smell problem. However, the washer is making a racket during the spin cycle. This developed into a burning smell which eventually produced an error message of "LE". I phoned a tech. He told us to unplug machine and let the motherboard cool for half an hour, depress the arrow button and re-start the cycle. This didn't work. I was told that the proper use of machine requires a wait of 15-30 minutes between loads to allow the board to cool (No problem, I have nothing but time in my hands).
LG tech came out in a very fancy van and told us that we have soft water in our area and should've only used 2 tbsp of soap per load. Since too much detergent was used, it crystallized somewhere and caused the bearings to go bad. The repair would cost $1,200 and since we didn't buy the extended warranty, it's cheaper to buy a new machine. The two machines cost us $2,337.74 in 2007. We didn't buy the extended warranty because my engineer husband didn't think we'd need it (me neither). My parents' top load machine lasted 25+ years.
Like a **, I went back to Home Depot and ordered a newer version of LG steam washer. Sales person told us we didn't need to buy a new pedestal and that we could use the one we have. A delivery company came out and said we could not use the old pedestal, it was against liability rules established by Home Depot and besides, design change for new pedestal. Washing machine had to be put back on the truck. I was told that the machine and pedestal must arrive at the same time for installation or forget it. What a dirty racket. I am forced to buy a warranty and a new pedestal each time for a machine that doesn't last for 4 years. I looked at Consumer Reports today and they say LG has the best reliability rating. LG Tromm dryer takes forever to dry towels.

I bought an LG front load dryer because of the good reputation that LG had. I had the dryer for less than two years and it began to trip the house circuit breaker. After a week of this, it completely shut off. I had a repairman come out to fix it and discovered that internal wires had shaken loose onto the drum of the dryer and melted through until it shorted out when one of the metal zippers came into contact with the drum. This fried the whole motherboard and destroyed the machine.
Further inspection showed that the circuit breaker prevented the dryer from catching on fire. The very expensive product failed us and nearly caused a fire. This is an extremely hazardous flaw that LG needs to fix so that the wires do not come in contact with the drum. This product really should be recalled for the consumers' protection.

We purchased a model WM 2301H washer along with a dryer in October of 09 from Home Depot. In February 11 we called a repair company to service our washer which had stopped spinning. The repair company talked with the LG tech support on several occasions and replaced motor, stator, control board; then forgetting to order parts for us, we had to contact LG for parts at which time the control board was replaced again and our washer was repaired finally March 25, 2011. Then on June 12, 2011 the washer began making noises and would not engage in spin cycle. We called another repair company who said the motor was bad and we would have to call LG to authorize repairs or we would have again have to pay for repairs. The motor has a ten-year warranty. We contacted LG who stated they had no history on our washer and that we would have to send in materials documenting that we had purchased the machine and had repairs done.
I faxed the materials I had to them and had to call back three days later to confirm they had received the fax, and then had to call back four days later to find out what their decision was. They requested a history from the first repair man because the repair invoices from that repair man were insufficient. After considerable discussion they authorized repair parts (which were under warranty anyway) but said we would have to come up with more documentation as to why the motor was replaced in the first place. The previous company we had repairs done from has changed owners and no longer does repairs, so I cannot come up with additional documentation other than my receipt for purchasing the washer, the shipping labels for parts sent from LG and repair invoices.
We spent over two thousand dollars for a washer and dryer less than twenty months ago. During that time it has cost us over two hundred dollars in repairs. Four weeks without a washer the first time resulting in two forty mile round trips and seventy five dollars at the laundry mat, not to mention the time having to stay at home waiting for service men to show up and multiple phone calls to LG for service.
This time so far it has cost me one forty mile round trip to the laundry mat, thirty dollars at the laundry mat and a cash outlay for soap as the machines do not use the soap like I use at home. And so far instead of getting work done, I have had to spend two hours on the phone with LG just to get the authorization for warrantied parts to be replaced. Home Depot no longer carries LG washers and dryers because of the large number of problems their customers have had with them. I firmly believe LG is aware of the electrical problem they have with their product but does not want to offer help to their customers. I am afraid to pay for repairs again because I do not trust that the company has a fix for the problem and if I have to shell out another two hundred for repairs after this. I might as well purchase a new washer and save myself the hassle of dealing with this mess.

I am in the process of trying different remedies, but I have noticed I have been sick a lot lately, and it started about a year ago when I first noticed black, slimy, smelly stuff in the gasket of my washer.
I have had front washers before, but their gaskets were easier to clean than the LG. And I kept up with it. I have been pretty good with the LG, but the stuff accumulates where you can't reach it. I am allergic to mold and never had any problems before, but now, I have been itching all over my body all day long and can't sleep from the itching. When I called them twice, I was once told it would be looked at by a supervisor. But no one ever called or told me if they really did look at helping with the cost. So, I called again. I can't stand the rotting egg sulfur smell that comes from this machine. Yes, we have cleaned it over and over again, left all doors open, etc., but nothing makes it better. It's so gross when you think about it.
Their customer service sucks and they don't care because nothing happens to them and they are allowed to get away with providing lousy goods to their customers. Also, the dryer has never dried right since we bought it. They have come to look at it over and over again and say nothing is wrong. I finally gave up. After research, I bought the front-loading stackable top of the line washer and dryer, along with (thankfully) an extended parts/service warranty. My previous machines had worked for almost 15 years without a problem. Within a few months, the washer was leaking water through the seal and had several episodes of various electrical messages. The tech had to replace the board and then just propped his feet against the front of the washer and pulled the drum to the front, saying this is a common problem with LG. Also, my dryer has never worked right at all despite the tech telling me it is fine. "Very dry" is not, and "low" on timed dry is much hotter than I would expect.
The dryer started going thunk thunk, so out came the tech again. This time, under the extended warranty. Like others, the weld was broken on the drum. How does that happened? So it got replaced and a year or so later, just out of the 5-year warranty by less than 30 days, it is thunking again. To think that I was getting ready to buy an LG refrigerator. Silly me. I am sorry that LG won't fess up to these problems and just fix them. I would have been a customer for life.

I just recently read about black mold growing in the gasket of front loader washing machines.
I have an LG front loader I purchased brand new in 2006, 5 years ago from Home Depot in Helena Montana. Over the years, I have noticed that my clothes did not smell very clean after washing them. I noticed what looked like soap marks on the clothes. I thought this was due to my soap. I only use a eco friendly laundry detergent and a very small amount and always run as an extra rinse . I never have used fabric softeners. Just plain bio clean or Armond hammer powered detergent. After spending hundreds of dollars in trying to find the mold problem in the house, not having any idea that the problem might be from the washing machine. Just last April 28 2011, I have discovered several cases on the internet that talk about black mold as a problem growing in the front loader of washing machines. Most of the complaints were about the washers smelling. I have discovered a black like substance in the washer gasket. I have cleaned it out not knowing it may have been mold. Now I realize this my be the very cause of mold problem that has been such a mystery to my health, that I have been living, sleeping in on with my clothes and sheets for a number of years.
I would like to ask if you know of any information or sights that explain more about health problems with washing machines as to the mold growing on clothes. Can mold grow on the clothes after drying the clothes? If so, is it possible to ever get the mold out of the clothes? I have heard that black mold does not smell. Do you know if this is true? I wash my clothes with bio clean detergent and use no fabric softener. When I put the clothes away, I see them clean. It is not until weeks later that I discover what looks like mold on my clothes. There is plenty of air flow in the closet. The mold tests that were done a month ago in several rooms in the house show no mold. Even after the test was done a month ago, just last week, once again I discovered what looked mold on many of my clothes.
I appreciate any information you may share with me to solve this problem. For nearly four years, I have had constant skin rashes not knowing where the problem came from and joint problems on an off. Mold and fungus has often been diagnosed as an issue effecting my health, yet I have not been able to solve the problem. For the past year and a half now, I have been discovering what looks like mold on my dry clothes. Several times I have rewashed the clothes and taken apart my very dry closet and wall searching for mold, as well as having the house professionally tested and even taken out the dry wall to see if mold was growing in the walls. Now I am at my wits end with health problems of chronic sinus infections, skin rashes around the eyes as well, itching, inflamed joints and foggy brain and digestion problems. No matter what I have done to solve this problem, my symptoms are still present. Just a few days ago, I first discovered the information about mold in washers. I have cleaned the black slimy substance of what looked like mold from the gasket before not realizing this is black mold. Based on the hundreds of cases I am reading about LG washers, I would like to join a class action law suit and have the washer replaced and have some compensation for much loss due to ill health. Please let me know what are the most effective steps to take to have my case heard and just compensation for damages to health and clothes and not at present even using the machine. Thank you for you help in concerning these matters.

I purchased the washer and dryer for around $2,500 in January 2010. I noticed right away the very long cycles to wash and dry with poor results. It didn't get dog hair off clothes, towels, cloths, and most clothes still smelt dirty--a permanent moldy mildew smell exists in almost all my laundry. I did regular maintenance as per manual and wiped seals down drained hose, etc., to no improvement. My huge concern is that last week--April 2011--I could smell something burning. I had my washer on tub clean with nothing in it--no clothes or soap as per manual.
I opened the basement door to find my washer shorted out somehow and was full of smoke! I am six months pregnant with a three-year old. My one year and four-month old washer should not be about to start fire. The LG rep came out and had no idea why the power board melted down. The parts will be covered but the labor is $100 (I am still waiting to hear for the repair date). The top of the washer's inside when the back panel was removed is dark and smoky and the repairman noticed the smell too even when he came four days after it happened!
Shame on you LG! Someone's house will burn down one day because of this ** washing machine--I have no doubt. I am thankful that I was home to turn off the breaker and unplug this hazard. I hope that a lawsuit comes to Canada to recall these defective machines.

I had to call back 6 times in 2 days and after finally having the unit looked at the parts that caused the problem are under warranty but the additional parts that were damaged when the other ones failed are not. It is now going to cost over $500 to repair. I never had the smell or mold problem as my wife took really good care of the door seal.
After having the repairman out to look at the unit he asked why I bought LG and told me they are the one of the worst. Oddly, we have not had the mildew/odor problem so many people complain of, but we have had to have the technician out twice because it didn't dry adequately. Each time he tinkered with it, the problem seemed to be okay. At least we could live with it, though clothes were never really dry.
Well this time, it stopped drying the clothes at all, even though the dryer air is hot. This is a two-part story about what I thought was the best washer and dryer in the world when I purchased them from Home Depot in 2007. Exactly one month following the warranty expiration, the LG Washer (Model: WM2487HWM) had the main pump go bad. I was very upset considering what I paid for these top-of-the-line appliances. It took over eight weeks to get the part, and two service companies later to get the job done--all at a premium for Northern NJ Appliance Serviceman rates.
The washer has worked flawlessly since, and I am content with its trouble free operation since that time. Now, fast forward to 2010, my LG Dryer (Model: DLE3777W) starts making a thump while it is running. Now, in late 2010, I finally can see the reason with this ever-growing crack in the stainless steel drum. So I called LG tonight. They now have in place a five-year drum warranty that supersedes the units and they are making arrangements to come repair this one at no cost.
This is still a complaint about shoddy workmanship and poor quality. However, I am impressed that they are standing behind the product. We bought this washing machine 2 years ago, in 2008. We spent over $3000 on the washer/dryer combo. It had glowing reviews and we thought it would be a great investment. It has been nothing but a headache. In only one area, cleanliness of the clothing. That is the whole point of a washing machine, correct? To clean your clothing.
Our clothing is never clean, smells musty at best and totally mildewy at worst. When we dry off with towels, we rub the mildewy smell all over our bodies. I have done all of the recommended maintenance and care, and used all the right products. I wipe down the door seal, drain the front hose and filter, and leave the door open, all to no avail. Bottom line, there is a design problem with this washer. There are things you can do to make the smell better, but it will never go away. When I take my husband's shirts out of the dryer, after a 2-hour intense wash cycle, his shirts still smell of his cologne. How clean is that?
We are sick that we spent this kind of money for such a terrible product. Someone needs to stop LG from ripping people off. They clearly realize there is a huge problem with their product, but are probably continuing to manufacture the same junky design. I wish we could all band together to do something about it!

We bought a new 2007 washing machine at Home Depot in 2007. In 2010, it broke down. The LG repairman told us that the part that failed is a 2001 water pump! Home Depot tells us that's unacceptable. LG told us too bad. We paid over $200 to have the machine fixed and heaven only knows how many other old, out of date, parts are waiting to fail. A one-year warranty should be for parts that are new from the inception of the warranty not six years old.

We purchased an LG washer and dryer and have had nothing but problems ever since with the washer. It vibrated so much that all my pictures shook off the wall. When I contacted LG customer service, they said if the unit is on a wood floor, it will happen. The service tech that was called out also said the same thing. The next step after 3 visits from the extended warranty service company, they tell me I need to buy the vibration pads, which I did for $80.00. Tried that thinking, “Oh good. I can use it on high speed now and get my full high efficiency affect.” No—it didn’t work.
I once again had to only spin on medium. We continued to have the same problem and the service tech decided to replace the motor that runs the drum. So now the washer will not stay level and the washer continues to shake all over and is banging against my dryer and walls.
The other issue I have is that my detergent cups don’t drain right and leak down the front of my machine. I cannot believe that I paid big bucks and got junk. I tried to get LG to just replace with another washer and they refused. Please help. There were damages to the dryer and the surrounding washer walls. I also am not able to use the high speed (high efficiency) option and the result is the same electric usage as my old one.

I have a new LG front loader, and it leaks - small loads, large loads, almost all the time. Sometimes it's a stream across the floor, and other times it's enough to dampen a paper towel underneath the washer. The wood floor has been ruined in the laundry area.
I called for a repair, and the repair man made it clear that he did not want to do more than spin the drum and tell me that I was using too much detergent. We are currently using a miniscule amount of HE detergent, and it's still leaking.

I moved into a home that offered a free a free LG washer/dryer with the purchase. I was so happy that it had a dial that made sounds. I especially liked the song that played when the dryer was done and the space saving feature of stacking. So, my sons clothes got wet and he left them in a bag. Upon moving in, I had to wash them. Mind you, I don't even have anything in the home at this time. I washed the clothes and still smelled the odor, so I washed them again. My son's clothes were clean (I thought until they got wet again), yet the washer had this odor. I contacted Home Depot and they told me to use the washer cleaner for front loaders. I did so twice because it was recommended for "bad cases". They are all bad cases are they not if you can smell mildew?
Anyway, did this twice on sanitize, the hottest and longest cycle, and could still smell mildew. I left the door open and finally reverted to using a small fan to dry out the inside for two days. This did not work either. So, I ran bleach through a couple of cycles and also just ran water for a couple of cycles. My clothes stink when they get re-wet outside the washer (i.e. dish cloths, bathroom towels and shirts that have been rained on or sweat in). I did not know what to do. I have decided to run everything on Sanitize and dry everything on Bulk load. This does the trick for the clothes, yet I am not sure how efficient that is for these energy efficient washers and dryers. My delicates feel like alligator skin now...Thanks LG!

Purchased an LG washer. After 2 weeks, the door seal went. Contacted LG for warranty and 2 weeks later a repairman came to replace seal. The next load the seal went again. Contacted warranty was promised a repair. 2 weeks nothing. Called again, promised repair, 2 weeks nothing. Getting no results. LG warranty is handled by transglobal and they hide behind many layers of call centers, mainly offshore. This is not the service you would expect for a top priced product.

It was about 4 years ago that we purchased an "LG" washer/dryer set from Best Buy. These appliances worked okay for the first couple of years, then (after the warranty ran out) the washer began to leak around the door. This was gradual at first but has gotten to the point that you have to stand by with a wet/dry vacuum to catch the water as it runs out the door. In contacting LG about the problem, all they did was refer me to some service agencies about setting up an appointment to have the machine repaired. I've worked on major appliances for the better part of my life and know how to repair them most of the time, but this monstrosity has defied being repaired.
The gasket against which it seals is in good condition, so that's not the problem. The door itself seems to be the problem in that there is a lot of top and bottom slack and play when it is closed and there are no internal adjustments to correct this. At nearly $1000 for the washer and dryer, you would think that they shouldn't have any major problems such as this as quickly as they have. Being retired now and on an income that's fixed we can't afford to shell out that kind of money every few years. Judging from the complaints seen here on this web site I will never put my trust in another LG appliance. They might do okay when it comes to items such as cell phones, but they need to leave major appliances such as this washer and dryer to the big boys who know how to build quality and longevity into their consumer products.

After realizing that the mold that was accumulating in the gray rubber gasket of my LG front loading washing machine was not going to go away, I finally went online to see if other complaints had been logged about this issue.
As others have posted, this problem began soon after (two months) I purchased this machine. After each wash, I would try to clean out the gasket as best as I could and leave the door open but it has not been enough to keep the mold/gunk problem at bay and much of the inner folds of the gasket are now permanently stained from the mold. The thought that this is the device that is actually serving to "clean" my clothes is unsettling.
Furthermore, my family and I are being exposed to mold which is a known toxin. I agree with others: this is a class action suit in the making. There’s unknown physical damage, but I imagine that it would be very easy to prove that mold exposure is toxic. Many home owners insurance plans covers construction costs associated with the removal of mold in the home. While perhaps the exposure here is not on the same scale, it is exposure nonetheless.

What is the world coming too, well, at least in the appliance industry? I'll give you only the basics so you can be prepared. 2005 LG front load washer WM2032HW, delivered to new build home, price about $1,000.00 plus after delivery. Bearing in washer starts making noise early 2010, service technician finds crack in front outer tube that allows that piece is $95.00, another $75.00 for bearings. Problem - they don't make the outer tube anymore, this unit came out on the market in 2004 and they don't make parts for it. LG says, will give you $165 towards a new one after you pack everything up and ship it to us.
Recap: A washing machine should last 10 - 15 years by today’s standards, not 5 and discounter make parts for it. (Sounds like a scam here). Similar to buying a Honda Civic and they'll give you $1,000 towards a new one because they don't make the muffler for it anymore after 5 years after being made. Am I missing something? Please help me reconcile my thought process, did my common sense co-habitat with my 15 year old sons!

The front loading washing machine is not built to drain all water out of the machine and therefore leaves clothes and unit smelling of mildew. Despite repeated calls to LG Customer service, there is nothing that they will do other than tell you to run the "sanitary" cycle with bleach, drain the unit from the trap door, then clean the filter every two weeks. Despite following every recommendation, the problem persists. LG acknowledges that this problem is prevalent but says that's the nature of the front loaders because they can't drain all the water.

This is great! I don't have to bother writing about my washer or dryer because everyone has described my situation and findings to a "T". Never again will I buy one of their products. Never. And yes: I also bought my Sears washer in 1974 for $159. It was even moved five times. I had to replace a thermostat and a belt of some sort, once each. It went through 4 children and then some. Stupid me, wanting something that 'looked fancy'. Sears: I'm almost ready. The mold smell is just disgusting, especially when your clothes won't dry either!
I had to throw towels out as well as some clothing. Hanging them out didn't do the trick. It was a terrible waste of money on items I have to replace. All that is not the point! I want a product that works, whether I paid $80 or $800!

I bought the stand up washer and dryer from Home Depot in Benton, Arkansas. It worked great for approximately 3 months. Now the dryer will not completely dry the clothes without sending through for another cycle. I called LG and they sent out many different techs, none of which can figure out the cause of the problem. The first time, they told me to dig up 25 feet of my yard and put in a French drain saying the vent was too close to standing water (that didn't help). The second time, they replaced circuit board (didn't do it either). The 3rd time, the tech talked to LG and LG said my wife doesn't know what she is doing and there is nothing wrong.
The fifth, time they checked heating element and said it was fine and left. The sixth time, they ordered a dampness sensor and mailed it to my house. The tech shows up and says there is nothing wrong and leaves with the sensor. I have called twice to LG customer service asking them to replace the dryer. They say unless the tech deems it un-repairable, they won't do that. But the tech can't deem it un-repairable because they don't know what is wrong with it. Now the machine is out of warranty and still the clothes are damp.
I tried to keep climbing the ladder, but they are well trained to not let anyone speak to anyone that can really do anything.

I want to reiterate the comments made about the LG front loading washer gaskets. There is clearly a design flaw in the washer door gasket and clearly the customer service reps just hold the party line. Mold, link and essentially particle build-up are rampant and it is up to the purchaser of these units to clean them as best you can without being able to really access the area where the real problem is occurring. So much for modern design and modern technology. I'm sorry I bought an LG washer.

On 1/27/07, we bought both the LG front Load Washer and Dryer from Home Depot. at almost $2,000.00. We thought it would last forever. Wrong! On August 24, 2010, the washer starting making a horrible noise. We called a local LG service representative, and he came out and looked at it. And when I say he looked at it, that's all he did was look. He did not take it apart or anything else.
He called an LG tech at the 800 number and then he informed us it was going to cost $600.00 to repair. I immediately called LG customer service and told them the problem. They explained to me that I did not have the extended warranty. Well, I did not give up. They put in claim and informed me that a committee would review it and I would hear back in 24 hours. Well, 48 hours went by and I still did not hear anything. My wife called and she was told they did receive the information and it was under review. We should hear something in 24 hours.
We just kept after them, finally, after a week, we got a call at about 9:15 pm and said that it was approved for parts only. Part are cheap. labor is not. It was still going to cost us about $350.00 to fix. Well, we called the authorized service center and gave them the authorization number for the parts and they said they would order them and call us when they came in to set up an appointment. Then a hour later, they called back and said they did not want to fix the washer. We would need to find another authorized service center because they did not want to be involved in a law suit.
Well, that just set me off. I was back on the phone with LG so many time and all they can say is I am sorry. Well, I am sorry too that I ever bought a LG product. They advised me to call another authorized service center and pay again for another service call so that the parts could be ordered. I just don't understand why if someone already came out and got paid to tell me what the problem is, why I need to pay again for someone to do that. I cannot tell you how many hours I have spent on the phone with LG. Well, LG has finally won cause even though I cannot afford it, I am going to go a buy, a new washer and you can bet it will not be an LG. I think a class action lawsuit is definitely in order.

We dry the front gasket (the round rubber thing) and leave the door open after each wash and the mold keeps growing. It is disgusting. Neither Best Buy nor LG will help us despite the fact that we purchased a 5-year warranty. They did replace it once but the same thing happened again so they refused to replace it, maintaining that it is our fault. It is a design problem. This company needs to have some integrity and admit it produced a bad product and give consumers a workable solution.

We got two times demo for machine but my wife couldn't satisfy with the same. After that my wife had submitted demo request on 14-8-2010 and today 18-8-2010. After 4 days time, the company demo guy visited my home and given demo. So if the given customer deem request than 4 days would require for demo? It is not acceptable.
Our complaints are 1) Machine is not working fully automatically 2) average time to wash - as per salesman told us is 90 min but sorry to say that machine takes 3 hours and each individual functions are not working 3) after wash function again my wife need to check machine and machine show error 4) same way after rise and spin function it has repeating again and clothes aren't spin properly. Also machine take 3 hours to wash the clothes and after that time clothes didn't get washed and complete waste of time, effort, energy and electric bill. We lived in a joint family and as per my family need, we bought this machine as I have high brand value for LG but after this experience it has lost.
From 7th Aug until date 18th August, almost 11 days, my wife found very unusual and embarrassing situation. The machine has been installed at 1st floor and our kitchen is at ground floor. So in this 11 days, she has gone up at first floor and come down at kitchen 7 to 9 times every day during the time of cloth washing. I have twin baby boy kids in my home and it is very unusual condition for my wife to manage every time. So she is completely lost and fed up with LG product. Today, the demo guy came to my home and during the demo guy Mr. **** found that machine is faulty and not working properly and have manufacturing problems. After that, I have contacted 24 hours customer service-toll free number and all have not given me proper answer.
I felt that I am setting on roller-coaster ride and nothing in my control. So as a customer it is my mistake to buy LG washing machine. I also contacted Ahmedabad based Customer Care person Ms.**** and Technical Head Mr. Dhiraj **** and both have attended me and taken my complaint and asked me to replace the machine. But within this, complete buying experience is lost, nobody has taken care for customer buying experience nor apologies for the same. My question for the company is why such faulty-defected machine has been delivered at my home. I took the decision to buy LG product after comparing with other competing brands. Is there any quality check process at factory level? With this experience, I have lost my working man-hours with this problem because my wife is calling me during my office hours 5 to 6 times in a day since last 11 days except Sunday.
As a customer, I am facing this difficulty since last 11 days and nobody is taking care of it! Even the customer care toll free number every day is asking on my cell if I am satisfied with LG product and at the same time I am relaying this problem but it isn’t solved. So why such customer care calls to customer? At customer care division, nobody is updating this to the concerned head? I am working with FMCG Company as Brand Manager and know entire funds of branding-marketing-customer satisfaction. So post buying experience is completely lost and highly disappointed. When I bought the product and paid on the same day and I got the machine delivery on same day, now with such incident I will get the machine replacement after 4 to 5 days.
What is the customer’s fault? Until today, nobody is asking for post buying experience to customer or product experience and apologies for such incident? To be honest LG brand strength is there but I am unsatisfied customer. I would expect that this will not happen with any other customer. Guess if the company will sell this product to a rural customer. How the rural customers can react? We all are living in technology and at least company need to take corrective action and to satisfy to customer over a phone or send some person at customer’s home to apologize for hardship and to give confidence in brand deliverables. I would expect them to attend to my complaint and revert me as soon as possible.
