I was skeptical of an online review site as I had never used one before. Something told me to give this one a chance and I'm glad I did. The company that this site recommended to me was professional and honest, and kept me from spending $1,000+ on a new refrigerator. Instead I spent $140 repairing an older unit. Great site, will use it again if needed.

On 11/2/2015 I submitted a dissatisfied review on a roofing contractor they recommended for me and to date it has not been posted. The response was it needed to be verified - I have no idea what that means. Not only did HomeAdvisor contractor not help us but HomeAdvisor themselves will not print unsatisfied reviews. They are selectively posting satisfied reviews and not posting bad reviews therefore misleading people searching for services.

The service providers listed by HomeAdvisor have been responsive and reliable. It makes getting help much easier and less stressful.

I was debating between fixing my washer or buying a new one. Someone recommended HomeAdvisor on Facebook so, I just looked in to it just for kicks since is FREE. HomeAdvisor pass my information to a top rated company to get a quote (That I request), I got a phone call almost immediately and indeed it turn out a great experience with an amazing outcome! It turned out that I ended up fixing both of my washers that weren't working for a very fair price and on the same day. I MOST definitely will use this site for further projects, and the company they recommend to fix my appliances will always be my go to place for appliances repairs. Extremely happy with both. I broke the freezer control stem. It was fixed, however, I told the technician that the food in my freezer may have been thawing and refreezing, and swings in temperature. He said to wait and let freezer stabilize. If still wide temp swing, call back. I wouldn't be charged the travel charge. He came back, and tested the freezer, but couldn't fix it then. He had to order parts. Then he came out a third time (no travel charge) and put in a new temperature controller. It's seems it is fixed.

I used HomeAdvisor for the first time twice this week. I needed to have a couple inspections done on a house I'm buying and didn't know who to contact that would be reliable and reasonably priced. I had seen tv commercials for HomeAdvisor and thought I would check them out. I am so glad I did. I found 2 businesses that I am totally impressed with through them. I will be contacting other contractors I need from HomeAdvisor.

This company is a big scam. They the sale rep going to tell you that your phone will not going to stop ringing and then he make up numbers of client that call every month for the same service. After you pay them they tell you that you did not understand what he say. I am with them for a month and did not receive even one phone call from a client and they sale rep don't reply to me calls or emails.

Just filled out the short form and I was connected with a contractor in less than 10 minutes. The contractor arrived on time, identified and repaired the issue quickly. I'll be using HomeAdvisor again.

I use HomeAdvisor for all my home projects. You have your choice of companies to do the work and they are all excellent companies. I would recommend HomeAdvisor to anyone for having work done on your home, and HomeAdvisor service is free. That's a win win for everyone.

I answered HomeAdvisor's email offer for referrals when I needed my hot tub repaired. I had 2 choices... give me a list of companies or have them contact me. I wanted to research them myself, so I picked the first option. I had barely pushed "send" and my phone began ringing with people looking to do my job. Needless to say, I was annoyed. To make matters worse, the first guy to call was someone I'd hired, on my own, recently, who I would NEVER use again. He was the reason I turned to HomeAdvisor. To have him be the first guy to call me made me wonder how good the other guys would be. I did end up hiring the second guy who called and had a very good experience.

I found a great handyman using the HomeAdvisor website (first time), so am trying to give positive feedback to the website after posting a positive review for the handyman.

Had musty smell coming from ducts and wanted to know "why"? They fully inspected my system and explained to my satisfaction the reasons I had the smell and told me what to do to avoid it in the future. Alex was so knowledgeable, I was impressed. He and George were thorough in the cleaning and disinfecting process and very professional. I am very happy with HomeAdvisor's connection and will use them again for other work projects.

The job completed on 10/26/15. AHO seamless gutters LLC. ** gutter cleaning, addition of gutter covers as well as replacing gutters over garage door. The job will be done on Nov 13/15. Cost very reasonable.

Cement Tile Roof Repair - Another great experience using HomeAdvisor.

Over the past few years I've used HomeAdvisor for work from installing ceramic tile to repairing an evaporative cooler. I always get a number of professionals and have never been disappointed with their work.

I was looking for help with drywall repair and cleaning/staining a deck. I received a call almost immediately and scheduled a visit within a week. I got a bid promptly and was able to schedule the job within a couple of weeks. The crew did a great job from start to finish. I'm glad I took a chance and used HomeAdvisor. The whole experience was easy. No drama. Just the way I like it.

Small business owners Beware of Home Advisor. This service is a money pit. It will cost you more than it will make you. When they offer the service it sounds great, they send you leads and they tell you that you will only pay for viable leads. They also said that you will get customers calling you directly. This is not the case. In our situation, we have not had one customer call directly. We had received 5 leads the first week; however, only 2 of them were viable. In the weeks to come this became more and more lopsided with leads that did not produce a thing. Regardless of whether leads are viable, you are still charged for all of them. We have a small appliance business where we service and sell used appliances consisting of stoves, washers, dryers, and fridges (we do not repair compressors or coolants).

Locate electric problems and repaired and replaced breakers. We use HomeAdvisor for all our repair and maintenance jobs and have good experience each time.

Paver and concrete work - The experience with HomeAdvisor was fine. The problem is getting the contractors to respond.

I have used HomeAdvisor 2 times. I have been impressed each time how quickly I get responses. It makes it so much easier when you can just go to 1 site and find all the need professionals.

I needed to locate an indoor air quality tester for particulates (silica dust) after renovation. Contractor made a mess with dry cutting granite indoors. I listed my needs/parameters with the HomeAdvisor tool and was shown a few area companies that could be useful. I called the first 2 and the second "lead" provided what was needed, at a reasonable price, were able to provide service and test results all within 72 hours. I had a couple of contacts from companies that were "air quality," but specialized in mold or asbestos -- which were not what I was looking for, but I responded to them that I had 1 a different requirement, and already hired someone, and they were professional and courteous in turn.

Workers did a fine job. Kept work area clean each day. No nails or debris left on the ground. Roof looks fantastic.

I was looking for a service for my home and stumbled upon HomeAdvisor. Within minutes I had 3 people contact me to offer estimates for the job. The one I chose worked out great.

I was sent information in a timely manner and there was follow up to make sure I was happy with the recommended company.

You provided me with 3 candidate responders who might have fixed the leak. M&M Plumbing, citing owner Monroe Meeks in particular, responded to my home emergency leak problem in timely and helpful manner, proficiently fixing the leak at reasonable cost. I paid him more than his asking price as warranted by the service he rendered.

We needed a roof repair in an emergency and a professional contractor was easy to find through HomeAdvisor.

One service was not as forthcoming with questions re cost etc. Second service very open with regard to questions. Chose them and everything appears to be fine. Still must do a little due diligence. Company I did not choose was very interested in reasons why. A good sign that they may be sensitive to reviews.

I was searching for appliance repair and found HomeAdvisor and their recommendation for APEX appliances repair was excellent. I recommend to go to HomeAdvisor for any service needed and absolute hire Song for any appliances repair.

On a separate topic, not the last electrical one but a different project altogether, not so good an experience. I called three different asphalt companies and it is now day 7 and not one returned my call. If they are not interested in giving a bid, they should just say so on the front end. Over a week has been wasted trying to get help that's not coming.

My overall experience with HomeAdvisor was good. Of the company reps that I met and received estimates from, I was thoroughly satisfied with my final choice. On the "Con" side - I was not expecting the 4th Tree Company who showed up unannounced. Also, the review section of the website did not function properly the first few times I attempted to submit a review. Not sure if it was down for repair or update at that time but it was a frustrating experience. So, again, overall fine experience with a couple of minor issues.

The experience was good -- the contractor came right out and in a matter of hours the repair was made.

Lied to about the fees and process when signed up over the phone. Told they would send leads out to multiple companies and the one who gets the work would be charged a fee. The fact is that they charge every company they send the lead to for each lead and they don't filter the leads in any way. They also automatically deduct these fees out of your account without getting written approval. All leads we received were 100% bogus. When we called to follow up, the leads told us that they weren't in the market on every occasion. I believe they pay people to make up fake leads.

HomeAdvisor help me find a great stucco guy and save me time and money. They sent different pros to give me a estimate on my home. The website was easy to find what I was looking for. The guy that I use to put the stucco on my home was a pro and did a great job.

While HomeAdvisor associate do put you in touch with contractors in the area, not all contractors reach out and are available. So patience is the key. But this is an excellent resource to find the right contractor for a project. A lot of research is to be done by the homeowner still.

We found a recommended plumbing company on HomeAdvisor and had them come out to look at a gas line that wasn't working on an outdoor fire bowl. The technician arrived to our home on July 17, 2015 and looked at an outdoor fire bowl that the gas line had stopped working. He told me he needed to "take apart" the fire bowl to get a part number for the repair and it would take "a while" to do so. The service call would cost $62.50 and he needed another $62.50 that would be credited towards the actual repair, I was informed. Since I got their name from HomeAdvisor, I was confident in the company's trustworthiness and agreed to write him a $125 check. The disassembly of the fire bowl I was told would take "a while," actually took 5 minutes and he was done. He took the check, left me with no paperwork and said he would call Monday with the cost of the repair.

I have used HomeAdvisor for a lot of projects and I find I have the best experience when choosing my contractor from HomeAdvisor. Recommendations from friends don't usually work as well as HomeAdvisor. There's another list out there that does not work for me at all and I had to pay for it. Love the algorithms working on this website. Makes me a happy customer every time.

I had a horrible experience with an electrician (Mark H Anderson Electrical Services) and I wanted to leave a review to warn others about this unscrupulous electrician who abandoned my electrical job. (He also had several similar reviews on Angie's list.) I uploaded my review at least 10 times, and after a month, the review is still not visible. HomeAdvisor claims I would be contacted via phone or email and that it would take 10 days to "review" the review. I have not been contacted by anybody, nor is my review posted online. It appears that HomeAdvisor is just as incompetent as Mark H Anderson Electrical Services.
