I finally went out and purchased a new Maytag washer and dryer top load machines to replace our 3-year-old LG front load and have noticed a difference in the clothes in a week’s time. I love the new ones. I have never got any help or satisfaction from Home Depot or the LG company. They both know how unhappy we were with the machine and after 3 servicemen later, we decided to trash the old set and bought a new one. We felt we got a lemon as the fluid leaked down on the hinges and finally down on the drawers which then made the drawer not open and close without spraying lubricant on the side. Good riddance to LG and Home Depot. LG knew we were unhappy with the smell and the lack of cleaning this machine did. When my husband noticed his underwear was getting dingy, what does that say?

On Friday, August 13th I placed an online order with Home Depot for two refrigerators, one a Maytag and the second an LG. Both refrigerators were listed as in stock, and a confirmation via an online chat with Alberto, a Home Depot online appliance specialist, clinched the deal. A delivery date of August 31 was confirmed. On Saturday, August 14, LG, called me to congratulate me on my purchase and to confirm the delivery date of August 31.
On Friday, August 20th, at 12:00 pm I received a phone call from the Maytag Home Depot rep who informed me that my Maytag refrigerator was on back-order and would not be available for delivery until September 16. I contacted Home Depot and inquired as to why the unit, which was listed as in stock the week previous, and for which I had a scheduled delivery date of August 31, some three days hence, would now be back-ordered. The rep had no information. So I called Maytag and was told that the item was never in stock and that Home Depot merely tells customers that items are in stock based on projected sales of particular items. He apologized and confirmed that the unit would be available to be delivered on September 16. He also informed me that since the Maytag fridge was delayed that I should check with Home Depot on the status of my LG fridge.
I then called back Home Depot and told them the information that Maytag had given to me. They told me that the information Maytag had given to me was false, and that since ordering appliances is a live process that sometimes items that are shown as in stock aren't really in stock and therefore get back-ordered. After a lengthy discussion including my commenting that clearly someone was not telling me the truth, I asked to be put through to a supervisor. My call was routed to Mr. **. This is where the story really gets bad.
I explained to Mr. ** that not only was it not acceptable that an item I had paid for on my credit card and which was listed as in stock was now suddenly, 3 days prior to delivery back-ordered, but that now my husband and I would also have to take 2 days off of work, one on August 31 for the delivery of the LG fridge and again on September 16 for the delivery of the Maytag fridge. Mr. ** told me that there was nothing he could do for me, and that since I had refused any conciliatory compensation he could not help there either. I informed him that I had not been offered conciliatory compensation. He offered me a $200 Home Depot gift certificate.
He then continued to reiterate that my only two choices were to wait until September 16 for the Maytag item to arrive or to cancel the Maytag order and order another fridge to replace it. So when I told him to cancel the Maytag order and just deliver the LG fridge on August 31, he told me that he would have to cancel the entire order and that I would have to re-order just the LG fridge as if it were a new order, and that meant that the LG fridge could no longer be delivered on August 31, but would have to be delivered around September 21. At this point I became furious and I asked Mr. ** to make certain that the LG fridge was still scheduled to arrive on August 31 before I took steps to cancel the Maytag order. He told me he would look into it and call me back
Half an hour later Mr. ** called me back to tell me that LG had cancelled my delivery date of August 31 because the Maytag unit was not available and had changed their delivery date to, you guessed it, September 16 when the Maytag unit was scheduled to arrive. Imagine my shock, since the LG fridge was, to the best of my knowledge, ready to be shipped and delivered to my home. Additionally, imagine my disbelief that neither LG nor Home Depot had called me, by 3:30 pm on Friday, August 20th, to inform me that my scheduled delivery of Tuesday, August 31 had been postponed to Thursday, September 16. After all, Maytag/Home Depot had called me three and a half hours previously to tell me that my Maytag unit was back-ordered. I asked Mr. ** if there was a reason why neither LG nor Home Depot had called me to inform me of this change, and he had no response.
He did tell me that he had called LG, Maytag and GE Consumer and despite his pleas on my behalf, no one was able to re-instate the original date of August 31 because other deliveries had been scheduled into my original time slot. I made it clear to Mr. ** that I planned on calling LG and GE Consumer to verify his story and he told me to go ahead and do so. I also told him that I needed to speak with his supervisor, because this was most assuredly the worst customer service I had ever experienced. He told me that his supervisor would call me back. She never did.
In the meantime, I called LG. Guess what? LG told me that Christine from GE Consumer/Home Depot telephoned them at 12:00 pm on Friday, August 20 to change the delivery date to September 16 because Home Depot had called GE Consumer and asked them to change the date to September 16. Why would Home Depot do that? Probably because Home Depot wanted the delivery to be consolidated on one day and not split between 2 days because Home Depot didn't want to pay for two separate deliveries. In fact, the LG customer service rep with whom I spoke had very detailed notes including people with whom he and his company had spoken, the times which they spoke and what had transpired during those conversations, and he assured me that the LG fridge was ready for delivery. He then contacted GE Consumer who not only still had time available on August 31, but who assured me (Yep, I called them myself at 3:20 pm) that my LG fridge was ready to be shipped to the GE Consumer warehouse but that LG had delayed that shipping because Home Dept, through GE Consumer, had told them to do so. Which means that Mr. **'s story that he begged LG to deliver the LG fridge to me was utterly and completely false.
Then I called GE Consumer who verified the story that the LG rep had told me. GE Consumer also told me that it was Home Depot who contacted them and told them to call LG and delay shipment until September 16.
After spending almost 5 hours on the phone, I did finally manage to get LG and GE Consumer to agree to deliver my LG fridge, albeit not until September 3. The Maytag fridge is, to the best of my knowledge, still on back-order and is still scheduled for a September 16 delivery to my home. But let me assure you that ensuring the delivery of my LG fridge was due entirely to my efforts, since clearly Home Depot did everything in its power to delay that delivery.
In summary, here is what I believe happened. Home Depot lied to me about the Maytag unit being in stock and available for delivery. Home Depot also lied to me about the delivery of my LG unit. Home Depot lied to me about why LG never called me to inform me that my LG fridge delivery was delayed, because LG never delayed my delivery. It was Home Depot who made the call to delay the delivery, and then Home Depot never called me to tell me that they had ordered that delay. In fact, it was only the Maytag customer service rep who told me that Home Depot had probably delayed my LG delivery because Home Depot is too cheap to pay for split delivery orders when a promised in-stock item is back-ordered. Home Depot lied to me about who changed my delivery date. Home Depot lied to me about begging LG and GE Consumer to allow the delivery of my LG fridge to remain on the originally scheduled date of August 31. In short, Home Depot lied, lied and lied.
If this isn't one of the worst, most appalling customer service, or should I say lack thereof, stories you have ever heard, then frankly, don't tell me what the worst is. I don't want to know. As a customer, I was lied to from start to finish. I was treated in a rude and condescending manner. While it is true that, by the end, I got angry and raised my voice, I never once used rude or insulting language and, more importantly, I never lied to any of the people with whom I was speaking.
I plan on telling this story to as many of my friends and colleagues as I possibly can. It is a shining example of how to never, ever, ever treat a customer. I have also mailed a copy of this letter to the Massachusetts Better Business Bureau as well as to the Massachusetts Attorney General's office.

I bought a fridge on line thru Home Depot. Order process, delivery and fridge are great, but here's the problem. For the past 3 days, I'm getting phone calls 2 from India, 3rd said he was in FL. They say they represent a buying club. They want to send me a 'free' restaurant gift card, the one today said he would also be sending s 'free' 7-day membership to this club. When I asked how they picked me, he said they are 'partners' with vendors where I bought something, I asked which stores and he listed 4. I didn't buy at other 3, so it could only be Home Depot.
The problem this guy had my cell phone number (that's how he called me) my full mailing address and the last four digit of my Amex card number. Have these ** at Home Depot not heard of identity theft? I am outraged that Home Depot would pass on my personal info to some outside company. If this is a corporate policy, it needs to end now.

I purchased a washer from Home Depot on February 1, 2009. When I purchased the washer, I purchased an extended 4-year warranty. The warranty is now with Service Protection Advantage. I placed a call to the Warranty Plan on Monday, August 16, 2010. I was told the machine could not be serviced until Thursday, August 19, 2010. I thought this was unreasonable, but felt I had no choice. On August 19, 2010, the service repair company was a no call, no show. The repair was rescheduled for Friday, August 20, 2010.
Again, the repair company was a no call, no show. The repair was rescheduled for Saturday, August 21, 2010. The repairman came on August 21, 2010, however, the machine was not repaired and leaked water all over the tile flooring. On Monday, August 23, 2010, I called to reschedule. I wanted the machine serviced on Monday, but was told no. The repair was rescheduled for Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Again, the repair service was a no call, no show. Home Depot continues to place me on hold and insist on recoding my telephone calls.
The machine is non-operative, and the warranty is not honored. I am not sure which company is worse, Home Depot or Service Protection Advantage. Both Home Depot and Service Protection Service refuse to give me a physical address which will accept service of process. Service Protection Service is nothing short of a scam. I have got to believe that Home Depot is well aware of the Service Protection Service's nonexistent services.

My clothes don't get clean, and are barely wet when I take them out of the washer. They're still dirty and I rewash them, doubling the water usage. It's a Bravo series and I spent nearly 1000.00 on it. What a waste of money. No more Maytag appliances for me! My water bill is higher than ever because of this washer. I'm not a happy customer! Dirty clothes, and higher water bills.

I purchased a 110 air conditioning unit , Mod # LW8010ER On 07/25/10. This unit is a piece of "junk." You would expect the unit to last a little bit longer than 2 weeks. We called the service man out on Mon Aug 9th. He informed us the fan motor and capacitor was out. He informed us he would order the parts and they should be in by Thursday. I called and no parts. I'm disabled and for the past week the heat index has been around 106 to 115. Try shutting off the air in your building and you will know how my wife and I have felt for the past week . Thanks and good bye.

We have owned a Maytag washer and dryer for 2 weeks and we are yet to get a load of laundry through this piece of crap. They are over $2,000 and there they sit. The repairman came and said that it was fixed. He was gone 10 minutes and it doesn't work again. We waited a week for him to show up. We're not waiting another week. When we first told Home Depot that it doesn't work, the lady was rude with me and said that I had to let the repairman work on it and that I had no choice. Well, guess what? Neither the saleslady nor the repairman is worth the time of day. They're getting this piece of crap back if it needs to, I have to load it up and dump it in front of their store.

On 4/5/05 Home Depot sold me a Maytag Neptune Top Load Washer (Model # FAV6800AWW Serial #16487410GE) and "two-story dryer" for $2462.15. I was so excited, we drew up plans a remodeled our condo kitchen "around" it! Literally! I was told it should last about 20 years. I could cry. I have smelled sulfur for as long as I could remember. Dealt with knotted and damaged clothes in the washer. Can they sell something when they are about to settle a lawsuit? I feel betrayed by this and the fact that I am now being offered half of what I paid for it. And, I am so sorry thinking about anyone else I may have harmed. I have had every test in the book, literally to find out why I have been passing out and my husband just got out of the hospital for an unidentified allergy to a possible mold/mildew pneumonia was as specific as they could get.
I have sent emails to my doctor detailing sulfur I smell in the house, in the air, called SDG & E, put in a detector for carbon monoxide and called the fire department. I have almost reached the end of my "rope." Last week, a repairman emptied the tub when the bearings broke and the whole tub finally gave a hint when it smelled of sulfur- finally a hint! I just went on the internet and feel like crying. I can hardly wait to ask my doctor about this and find out if my husband and I are in a permanently bad mood since about 2006 when I began to document that he started to "be in a bad mood" and lose his temper for no good reason. Could this sulfur smell have something to do with normally happy people having all of these healthy problems? This may have cost us our health and happiness.

In 2008 we purchased the Maytag washer/dryer set Series 5000 on sale at Home Depot for $2600. We're not wealthy, we just have teenage boys who play all the sports and we figured we'd spend the money and by the better items and do less work keeping clothes clean with grass stains, smells & such. Spending such a large amount, we bought the warranty & the extended warranty offered. I love my set. It's been wonderful!
In the beginning of June 2010, I went to put in a load of clothes into the dryer & it beeped with the code F23. I called the service number on our contract. She said 4 phone numbers and I told her the closest one to my area & was told that someone would contact me in 24 hours to set up an appointment. 48 hours later, I called back & was told that the company rejected the contract. I asked them when were they going to notify me, they told me that it was up to me to keep up on it. (How am I suppose to know the contract was rejected? )
They picked another service company but they didn't have an appointment for two weeks. I told them what code was blinking which indicates what's wrong - either the control panel or the thermostat. The service tech came out without either part so I had to wait for another week for the parts to be shipped & another appointment. The parts arrived, still didn't work, same code. The tech was told on the support line to order another board, we received a "bad one."
To make a very long story short. We've had 3 control boards ordered, 3 thermostats and 2 other parts that they didn't tell me the names of. All sitting on top of the dryer collecting dust. Two techs who have been all over this machine and have no idea why it isn't working. No one wants to listen to either of them that they think it should be replaced because they've done everything. it's been frustrating for them & for us. We've called the Primary Customer Care Service Line at Home Depot to ask for help and basically received nothing but, "uh ha, ya, right," what would you like me to do? Sorry can't help, that's not how "it" works. I don't know what "it" is, I just want my dryer to work!
We've repeatedly called "Warranty Assurance." The "holder" of our extended warranty. Besides being the most rude, arrogant, condescending people I've ever dealt with, their warranties are about as useful as a $3 bill. Please, if anyone reads this and we can help anyone else, never buy an extended warranty! We were stupid thinking that we were buying an extended factory warranty since it came with a big Maytag letterhead. That should be illegal! They are misleading honest folks! It's actually some shady 3rd party company no ones ever heard of where the people won't even give you their name so you can't say who said what to you! I had one of their people actually tell me I was being "ridiculous" because I wanted my dryer replaced if they couldn't fix this one. Their warranty only covers "fixing" & "parts. " If for some reason it can't be fixed, you are out of luck!
We are now half way through July. Over $75 spent at the laundromat. We finally broke down last weekend and went to an estate sale & bought an old Whirlpool Dryer for $150. We still have no dryer. Maytag was contacted, they don't know what's wrong with it, these people don't know what's wrong with it. We have a $1,300 paperweight. We will never buy Maytag again.

In 2008, I purchased a stainless steel grill at Home Depot. The rotisserie grill does not work and now the inside parts are rusting out. I do not use the grill a lot, but it shouldn’t rust out. It is an outdoor grill, you shouldn’t have to baby it. Now I find they’ve had a recall—just great an explosion threat to boot! I paid more for this grill thinking all the rust problems would be solved. I’m really disappointed with Charmglow as I looked at them as a respected company. I guess I’m just out a lot of money. I bought the energy saver GE washing machine, GE Profile colossal capacity hi-efficiency washer model # WPRE6150KWT, on 5/3/10. I hate it. The water level does not cover the close. I have to use the outside hose to at least fill it to cover the load. I tried it the way, they said and the whites do not come out clean. We went back to Home Depot and they said that is the way it is suppose to be. We did this three times. I do not know whether or not to call GE about this. My friend works for HD and he suggested originally that I do not get a GE as it's rating was not good. But I could not afford the $1,000. Stains in the clothes are still there after the wash cycle. What use is that? The design problem is that you can't pre-soak the clothes in the same machine as the washing.

A couple of years ago, I used their hot water replacement service. The guy they sent to put it in was very polite and seemed honest enough; however, now I see not so much. The hot water heater that was in there had been in there for years (old house). Therefore, it has a cabinet built around it. He called me at work to tell me that he would have to take out my kitchen cabinets to remove it, but he could put it back without a lot of problems. However, I thought it best to move the hot water heater to the garage as it was too large to fit into the space in which the other one was. Fine.
Well, last year, I was diagnosed with cancer and spent most of the year in treatment and had a scare early in this year. However, I had contacted them because my kitchen flooring has turned dark due to water leaking between it and the floor (from guess what?) an old hot water heater that has not only not been removed but had not been drained either.
I received several calls from the regional manager or district manager, and he proceeded to tell me he doesn't know what he can do but will try. I have not heard from him again. I did get a call from the store manager. He and I played phone tag for months. I called and left messages, and he never called me back.
Now, mind you, during all of this time, I am in both chemotherapy and radiation, so it is all I can do to get up every day. And this jackass is treating me in this fashion. Well, to make a long story short, it is another year later and the place on my floor is getting darker and darker and growing. And I have still not heard from any of them.

We purchased a new Maytag dishwasher with at the North Spokane Home Depot including free delivery and installation on May 12, 2010. Five days later, the installers who were employees of a moving company, not a plumber, or contractor appeared in their moving van. The movers removed the existing unit, cross threaded the existing plumbing pipe and hooked the drain hose to our garbage disposal unit. Unfortunately, the existing drain outlet wherein the previous unit was hooked to was avoided. The garbage disposal had an existing plug in the unit that would not allow the water from the dishwasher to drain out when activated.
We had water running out from the uncapped previously used drain in the sink. We had water leaking out from the cross threaded water line and the dishwasher filled with water and could not drain when in operation. Water leaked out of the unit and onto our cabinet floors. We went into Home Depot that evening (Friday) and were told that someone would look into the problem on Monday when the staff was back in the store. We placed a bucket under the damaged pipes and called a plumber. The plumber had to replace the damaged water lines and fixture at the price of $115. After a month of hassle, along with a threatened small claims court action, Home Depot refunded the purchase price, picked up their water-filled Maytag and paid the plumbing bill. We purchased a Whirlpool from Sears and saved $20 in the process. The Sears installer, a fully licensed electrical/plumber, properly installed the dishwasher to code. Never again Home Depot on any major purchase. We did learn a valuable lesson and purchased our kitchen carpet today from another dealer, not Home Depot.

On March 6, 2010, my Maytag washing machine broke. It is still under warranty under Home Depot where I purchased the washer. HD gave me the name and phone number of the service for me to call and make an appointment. The service person came and said he needed to order a new motor and it will take 3-5 business days to get the part. On March 13, 2010, the service man came back with the motor and after realizing that the motor wasn't the problem, he said that the washer was unrepairable. Between March 13, 2010 and today ,April 10, 2010, I am still without a washing machine.
I call HD every day to find out what they are going to do about my washer. First, I spoke with Calvin. Calvin would keep me hanging for days without any answers and when I called him and left messages, he never returned my calls. I had to keep calling until he answered his phone. Then I got frustrated with how Calvin was handling the situation with my washer and started speaking to Bob. He said that there was a discrepancy between what the service man wrote for my washer being unrepairable and what the claims dept considered unrepairable. He said the claims dept needed to speak with the repairman in order to make any decisions about the washer.
I continued to call Bob everyday until finally, on April 5, 2010, after being put on hold for 15 minutes again, Bob said the claims dept spoke with the repairman and it was agreed that the washer is unrepairable. Bob said they would give us a check in the amount of $698 so that we could buy another washing machine that is comparable to the one we have. The washer we purchased cost $1,060. Bob insisted that this other machine that cost $698 was the washer they compared my washer to and $698 is what they would give us.
My husband then called and asked to speak to a supervisor. This is when my husband spoke with Geff. He said that $698 is the cost of the machine comparable to ours, but this is a sale price. He said if the machine goes off sale, then he could send a separate check for the difference. I called Geff on Friday, April 9, 2010 and spoke with Geff. I told him that since the machine is under warranty, why do we have to pay the tax on the machine out of our pocket? He said that they don't pay the tax.
Since I have been without a washer for over a month now, I told him to just send the check. He said the check would be cut next Thursday and will take 5-7 days to get to me. I told him that this was not acceptable. I have been without a washer and inconvenienced for over a month already. I told him I wanted to speak to his supervisor. He said that he is the supervisor and there is no one else there over him.
I have been without a washer of over a month. I have a family of 4 and have to go to the laundromat to do the wash every day in order to keep up with it. My back hurts from carrying the wet laundry home to put in my dryer at home. Going to the laundromat is an inconvenience and it is not fair that I have had to be inconvenienced for this long. It is also not fair that HD will not replace the machine for me. They said they can only send a check in the amount of a machine they find comparable and cannot send a replacement machine. I had spent a small fortune at the laundromat besides endless hours there doing the wash for the past one and a half months. HD has an unfair warranty.
I am so stressed which is causing me to have migraines. I looked up HD corporate office and they have no address, no phone number. I am so upset that HD has not fairly honored the warranty for the washer. I should not have to pay anything out of pocket. The warranty should cover all costs. Now I have to wait another 2 weeks or more to just order another washer by the time I get the check from them. I have to continue going to the laundromat, and carry the heavy loads of laundry everyday, besides spending any free time I have calling HD to make sure they are doing their job. If I didn't call them everyday, they would never have called me.

December 30th, 2007, I bought Maytag Epic Z, Model MHWZ400TQ00, Serial no. HLU3724405. It was delivered on January 08, 2008. At the store, nobody asked where is the laundry was located or what type of floor I have. I also bought extended warranty for 5 years. At the first wash, the house was literally shaking. I called the manufacture warranty who said at 2 calls that I have to change the floor. My house shacked one year and half, because I was not prepared at the time to change the floor because I bought a new washer and dryer! I changed the floor with 1-inch plywood and tile on top and I did call the extended warranty to understand why even I did change the floor and it continues to shake. The display started to show F 25.
It was replaced a part in September - October 2008. They checked the washer without the load and it did not move. After he left with the load, it started to shake. The third floor, all the time, is shaking and we cannot sleep when the washer is working. The first repair was done by Platinum Appliances in Mission, BC. I continued to complain about shaking the house (on the 3rd floor above the laundry is the bathroom, where the cupboard, glued on the wall started to show a gap). During the phone calls, I had all the advices in the world (move the laundry, pour concrete and stay next to the machine when in use, cancel the cycle and rearrange the load inside). Finally, they changed the technician and came from Vick's Maytag in Abbotsford, two technicians who removed the pedestal. That did not stop the shaking. I live in a townhouse. You can hear outside the noise.
In December 2009, I did a written complain at Home Depot. They said in few days someone is going to contact me. It took 3 weeks after I called for someone to contact me. In February 2010, Whirlpool Canada called me and during the discussion, they concluded (her name was Melissa) that my floor on all level has to be changed. As a today, April, 4th, 2010, the washer started to leak. I called extended warranty and they wanted to know where is leaking is that I may need a plumber! Looking on the Web, I see that their other models are on recall and I decided to write a complaint. It maybe the case with this model, too. After 2 years and 3 months of shaking my house! Thank you so much.

I bought a washer and dryer in November to be delivered in January to my new home. I finally went to the store with a truck and picked up the appliances and paid a handyman to hook them up for me. I got nowhere with Home Depot after three visits. The product works marvelously now but it was a lot of aggravation for a 70 year old to have to go through. I will never shop at the Home Depot again but will go elsewhere for my Maytag Products. I had to hear a lot of grief from my wife as to why I paid in full for the product over the internet without seeing the appliances first. Also having to pay someone to hook it up. Home Depot says free delivery and haul the old unit away. [Lies].

Wife noticed occasional black specks in ice being dispensed from door on G.E. model GSH25JFTAWW side-by-side refrigerator which is less than 4 years old. I inspected upper inner dispensing area from outside with flashlight and discovered much black fungus covering the buried and nearly inaccessible area all around ice flapper door and behind the water dispenser spout.
Assuming this can not be a healthy situation having fungus falling into drink glasses, and since I'm still under the extended warranty I purchased from Home Depot on the refrigerator, I decided to call their 1-800-79DEPOT number to see what can be done to cure this situation or if there's a possible recall or fix as something like this should not be. After trying to explain our problem to the girl who answered, she put me on hold twice to consult with someone higher up. First I was told to get some warm soapy water and a rag and wipe the whole affected area down good. I re-explained to her that it's nearly impossible to get even a fingertip into that buried area. She consulted again then informed me my warranty only covers mechanical problems and this isn't one, so problem will have to be solved by me and there’s nothing they can do.
Feeling a refrigerator should not be designed for this unhealthy situation to occur, or could be happening because of a "mechanical" malfunction, or if it does commonly, build it so the owner can get at it to clean that area, my wife and I went to our Home Depot store to talk to customer service. The girl at the counter tried to be helpful, even called the warranty department again. Apparently, she spoke to the same girl that I did as she was told she had just talked to me and told me it's not a warranty problem. She then went in the office and brought out a fellow I assume was a supervisor who told us we'd have to clean it like we were told. He also hinted at first that maybe the fungus was caused by us not changing the water filter often enough until I assured him we do, it was just changed a couple weeks ago and that wouldn't have anything to do with where the fungus is anyway.
After telling him we'd gladly clean it but it's impossible to get at as there's no access to get into that area the fungus is covering unless you could take something apart, he took us back to the appliance department to show us how. He ended up sticking his fingertip from inside the freezer door just through the little ice cube trap door on a couple different refrigerators. I'm not even sure they were GE's. To me this was a very stupid solution coming from a supervisor as there is still no way to do any wiping where a good part of the fungus is. Also, my wife didn't appreciate his implying she's a dirty housekeeper by his smart remark that we have to expect to do some regular normal house cleaning!
We went home and tried it and as small as my wife's hand is, there's no way she can get it down in the recess to even put a finger through the ice trap door from inside the freezer door on our refrigerator. We worked for over an hour today with q-tips, cloths on small screwdriver tips, everything we could think of, and still have been unable to get at a major portion of the fungus. And there is no human finger, even on a child, that could get into the recesses needed to clean all the fungus through the inside of the freezer door of our GE refrigerator. That supervisor is full of hot air and a master of **.
I wanted to talk to GE but couldn't find a number where I could speak to a human being even; everything is "push a button". I doubt they would be of anymore help than Home Depot is anyway. So, I guess this is the last water/ice in the door refrigerator we'll ever buy, especially GE, if this filthy situation is normal on them. We would appreciate any sensible advice on what to do now.

My complaint is in regards to fraudulent representation in advertising, a well as poor customer service. I was in the market to replace a broken built-in dishwasher. On the Home Depot web site (Canadian), I found a GE model listed at $298 which matched my stainless steel GE fridge and stove previously purchased from Home Depot (my first bad experience with Home Depot), however it stated "Available In Store Only". I drove to the Halifax (Lacewood drive) location and and spoke with the sales representative who informed me that this model was not in stock. I asked if he could order it and was told it was not available but could be ordered online and it would be delivered to me.
I returned home, called customer service and explained what had transpired. I supplied the customer service representative with the details (make and model #, etc.) who in turn called the store and spoke with the sales rep and than informed me that there must have been a misunderstanding, that in fact the store could order the unit. She offered to transfer me to the said representative whereby I was disconnected. Upon calling the store back, I was put on hold for 20 minutes and again disconnected. The following day I called back, was again put on hold for 15 minutes after which the receptionist came back on line to inform me that they were too busy to take my call and that someone would call me back.
The following day, having not received a call back, I called again and eventually reached a sales representative who upon being provided with the make and model of the dishwasher quoted me $498. When I explained that it was listed on the website for $298 (which he looked up and confirmed to be correct), he informed me that he would have to speak with his supervisor and call me back. When he did call back, he informed me that they would not honor that price. When I asked why, it was explained to me that that price was for the item only if it was in stock. It should be noted that this is not a promo item, sale item or limited quantity/no rain checks type item. In fairness, it should be noted that in small print, it does state that "Price may vary by store". I just believe that a $200 variance is excessive (seems to me to be no different than list pricing a product for a $1 and than charging $197 when someone wants to actually buy it).

On Jan. 7, I called and asked if would delivered on the 8th and they said yes. No delivery was made. I went to store and told them and they said they would give us a loaner the next day. Two men came with a washer and dryer with no tools that I had to supply them with, no screws to hook up the electric to the dryer. I had to wait for someone from the store to come with three screws.
I turned the washer on to the wash cycle and it appeared to be working okay and the men left. The rinse and spin cycle came on and spun the water all over our newly installed carpeting. I called the store and the appliance manager said they would take care of it tomorrow by bringing another brand new washer and rug cleaner for the carpet. In the meantime, it was soaked. We used our rug scrubber to get some of the water out and took the washer out ourselves to clean up the carpet.
The next day, they came with another washer, installed it and left. When it went into the spin ,cycle it vibrated so bad that it pulled the plug out of the wall. By then, I was totally disgusted with the whole thing that I loaded the washer and dryer up on my truck and took it back to the store and told them to get it out. That was taken care of with some grumbling. The appliance manager made no apology or offered any other solution. At that point, we asked for our money back. I went to the service desk. Part of the payment was done with a Home Depot credit card and the other was $600 in cash. It took the better part of an hour to return our cash money. We went to Lowe's and bought what we wanted and within 45 min., we had our purchase with no hassle.

I purchased a front loader LG washing machine from Home Depot in 2007. I got their extended warranty and the first time that I tried to use the warranty was nine weeks ago. I am still waiting for my machine to be fixed. They sent a tech out, who told me that it was the circuit board and it would take 1-2 weeks to get it because it had to come from China! So the weeks passed and I still didn't have my machine. The next step was to call the corporate Home Depot headquarters in Georgia. They said it was the extended warranty company that would have to order a replacement. I called the warranty company and they said that I would have to be without the part for 3 months before they could order a replacement!
The Home Depot that I bought the washer from finally gave me a loaner on November 17. Today, water flooded my whole laundry room and if we weren't home, it would have just kept flooding because it has a water load sensor and the machine would think that it had to keep filling. My husband finally tipped the washer up and had to crawl inside and found that the clamp to one of the hoses inside was not on, and the hose had just fallen off. I called LG and they said it was out of warranty for them, and they couldn't do anything about it. I said that if they were going to sell their product in the US, then they should have parts available in the US. I never did get an answer.
I heard from my neighbor that Best Buy just sends out a replacement because they can't get the parts. At least they send a replacement. Never buy an LG appliance. They work great until they break down and then you are on your own. I have called the appliance repair company over and over and get the runaround. The secretary says that she will have the owner(?) call me back in an hour. Nothing happens. I called a few days later and she said that "He's on the road and will call when he gets in." Never happened. I called again and she said that he is in a meeting and will call me back. No call. I called again and she said that they had a tracking number, so it was on its way. That was 5 weeks ago.
I am thinking of going to small claims court, but don't know who to sue first. The appliance repair company keeps telling me it's on its way. The last message that I got from them was 3 weeks ago, saying that it won't be any more than a day. Fact of the matter is, I believe that there are no parts of this kind available and it's just one big stall. It is a Home Depot extended warranty but it's Assurant who is the carrier, not Home Depot itself. So I am at their mercy and I don't know how this is going to end.

I ordered a washer and dryer set. They said the soonest it could be delivered was during the first week of December which I agreed to. They said they would call when it arrived and schedule a delivery. After the week was over and having not heard from them, I called. They said that it came in a few days ago, but they could not deliver now due to today being a Saturday. They brought them out on Tuesday. When they brought the dryer in, the delivery men told me that they could not install it with the old dryer cord. Home Depot requires a new cord at installation or it voids the warranty. I told them to go ahead and install it with a new cord. They did not have one.
Had I known upfront that I would need a new cord, I would have purchased one and had it available when the unit was delivered. Next, they brought in the washer. They said that they were supposed to tell me that they could not test it. Home Depot told me that the units had been stored outside for several days and the zero degree weather had frozen the water that was shipped in the unit from the factory testing. They said the 2 of the 3 they had installed that day were all frozen up. Had they explained all that to me upfront, I would not have had the suspect unit delivered. I knew if I sent it back, it would be re-delivered as a new unfrozen unit after it thawed.

I bought a Bryant 13 SEER HVAC unit from Home Depot in July 2008. It was incorrectly installed and blew cold air on my roof for 2 days. There were numerous problems, including the thermostat. Then when it became cold outside, the heater did not work. We had to wait about a week while a sensor was ordered. Then someone came out and had to insulate the unit. There was also damage done to my new roof. When it became hot again, my A/C didn't seem to be cooling. I was told that the unit was only manufactured to cool the temperature 20% from the outside air temp. My comfort zone is around 72 degrees. I live in California and it is often over 100. That means I can expect 80+ degrees most of the summer.
My new roof had some eave shingles broken. Someone came out and glued them. I am not satisfied with the unit at all. The salesman assured us that "our comfort" was so important. My complaints have not been resolved. I feel that I should have been told that the unit only cools 20%. I never would have bought it. I don't even think it was a new unit because it never worked right.

November 27, 2009, around 5 or 6pm, Black Friday, we purchased a washer that we saw on the ad, Maytag MVWC6ESWW 4.0 large capacity washer. We paid $299.00 for the washer and extra for installation, etc., and we were not aware that they printed the receipt with another SKU number, which is another Maytag Centennial 3.2 Cu. Ft. Super Capacity Washer (Model # MVWC300VW). We got a phone call from the sales rep who told us that the Maytag MVWC6ESWW is no longer available, so the newer model will be given to us. And little did we know that the newer model is smaller and cheaper in price.
We complained the following day, and the manager said that we were told that they no longer have that washer because Maytag oversold and we will get it delivered by late January. They said that it was our fault that we didn’t look at our receipt and didn’t call back ASAP as we got the call. We came in the store afterwards, but the person was off. Monday (Nov 30), nothing happened but a waste of time and aggravation. We went back to follow up. We spoke with assistant manager (Ray) and said that we were aware of the whole situation. We said that we don't know how to look at SKUs and our washer capacity is not even to that standard because of our huge family.
He told me, “You were told that this is what you’re getting. How come you didn’t call us back right away? And you were aware that this is the washer that is getting delivered because of the SKU number on it.” We are not experts on SKU numbers. We had the ad on our hand, we had the washer in front of me, I put out my money, and I paid for it. What have I done wrong? Bottom line is it does not benefit me at all. I told him that we still had a Saturday and a Sunday to get that deal if it wasn’t available anymore, if only had we known.
He also mentioned “while supplies last”, but they were still selling it on Saturday and Sunday. Woodland Hills Home Depot ran out of those washers on Sunday, because we were there too. It was already Monday, and all the deal was off. We bought the product on the first day it went on sale! He gave us two options - that is, to buy the item full price or buy the item with the difference, whatever the difference is. He will share 50% of the cost. I refused and choose to think about it. He also said that I can cancel and they will just give me the money and "Sorry for the inconvenience." He also emphasized that we are so fortunate that Maytag considered replacing that washer with another lower model because they have not done that in 8 years.
Wednesday (Dec 3), we just had it and we drove to the store again and wasted our gas. We went to cancel the order and spoke with Ray again. I cannot get a refund of my money because they said that they have to cancel the order and call Maytag. 2 hours later from lingering in the store, we left. An hour later, we called and spoke with Ray. He said that the associate is still trying to cancel the order and delivery. I was asking for a ballpark time, and he told me that he is not a psychic. But as soon as he gets off the phone, he will call in an hour.
40 minutes later, Ray called and said that they left a message for Maytag (represented by GE delivery people). He said that we will get a phone call tonight that they will deliver. I said that I will not accept any of that responsibility anymore since he’s on that case. Also he said that he found a nice person to cancel an order so he can accommodate us - meaning that they cancelled their order so they can have something available to give us right now. Now, does that sound really reliable? He also wanted us to go back there for some transaction, and I just told them that we have no more money for gas and will not waste mileage for something crappy like this.

I called Maytag and told them I want my money back. Clearly these are lemons. They told me that they did have some trouble around that time, because Maytag and Whirlpool were merging. What they have offered is 15% off a new purchase or 50% off parts for microwave and 100% off parts for dishwasher. I pay labor. When the stove element broke, they would not do anything for me. We bought and install ourselves.
I think I am getting taken. These appliances are clearly defective, given they are all broken in one manner or another, and in such a short period of time. It is not like we are a big family and they get abused. I am about the only one who uses them.

They've had to replace the freezer engine; now the lights are too hot in the fridge part that the insides of the fridge have melted. There are big, plastic pieces falling off - it is a huge danger.

On 10/13/09 at 9:26 pm, I bought a clearance clothes dryer. The original price was $399.99 and it was marked down to $269.00. A sales associate brought the dryer paperwork to the register. The cashier had to call the night manager for assistance to make the sale. The night manager had to enter a price override code to sell the dryer at the new clearance price. That same evening, I installed the dryer and it did not work. The next day, I returned to the same store with the dryer and the receipt. I went to the Returns desk and the cashier claimed that the dryer was not the dryer that was stated on the receipt. The store manager was called. He took my receipt and came back to the desk after 20 minutes. He said that the dryer was not from his store and would not take it back.
I left the store with the dryer. 1/4 mile from Home Depot, a group of 3 police cars had pulled my vehicle over and ordered me out of the vehicle. I was handcuffed and accused that I had stolen a dryer from Home Depot. The Store manager, Paul, had called the police. I was sent to police headquarters, fingerprinted, photographed and charged with a Class U felony, Grand Larceny Steal Property greater than $200 not from a person. After spending 18 hours in jail, my girlfriend called a bail bondsman and paid him $500 cash non-refundable to post a $5000 bond. The police now have my dryer and the receipt in evidence holding. I returned to the same store and met with the night manager who made the original sale. She got a printout of the original receipt and gave it to me.

I bought a refrigerator at Home Depot in May '09. It was not keeping cool so I called LG. They told me to unplug it and reset the computer. I did that but it did not work. I called again and they sent a technician out. The technician said it was the compressor and that he would order a replacement. A week later, he replaced the compressor but it still didn't work. I called Home Depot to ask for a replacement. They have not been helpful. They called LG who insisted on having another appliance technician out to repair. That technician came out a week later and clanged and banged until he said that he thought it was the compressor. That appliance company called into LG and said that the refrigerator should be replaced.
LG again said no and insisted on sending out a third appliance technician. Another week and the third company says the refrigerator is unrepairable also. I have called both LG and Home Depot innumerable times and have gotten the runaround. I am in between the politics and I shouldn't be. Both companies should be ashamed of themselves. They have lost a customer and I will tell everyone that I know to avoid purchasing any products from Home Depot or LG.

I purchased an LG washer dryer and paid for installation. It cost $2000 plus. Upon delivery, the installer said I have the wrong plug in and he could not install the equipment. But he offered the range plug cord free of charge, but that would void the warranty and I would have to install the cord myself. I called Home Depot and asked about this while the installer was still there. So I refused delivery, and Home Depot called after they left and offered $100 when I purchased this equipment. Then Home Depot said they would install everything and I would have to do nothing. I do not understand why if I install the power cord provided by the installer, this would void the warranty. This location in my house has powered 2 Whirlpool dryer and 1 Maytag, which now is in Atlanta at my daughter's house.

We purchased an LG French Door Refrigerator on July 28, 2008. We also purchased the extended warranty. Well, one month after the manufacturer warranty expired, we noticed ice crystals in the back of freezer and on the racks of freezer. This is all documented day by day from August 28th of this year until today, September 14, 2008. We have had the repairman here 4 times. One time he unplugged it and said it would reset. The second time, he replaced the circuit board on back of fridge. The third time, he replaced the defrost control inside freezer. The fourth time, he replaced the defrost control system again. Now ice is worse than ever in the freezer.
The warranty company is saying that the tech said the refrigerator is fine. Now I have pictures of this with dates and times showing the progress of ice building. I have been trying to get someone from Home Depot to help me with this situation to no avail to date. We keep getting shuffled around no matter where we go. I have dealt with this last year on another refrigerator purchased at Home Depot with the same problem, different brand. However, that happened within one week and even had to fight for weeks to get that resolved.
Can you please tell me how they sell extended warranties that don't cover anything? I worked at Home Depot and they said tell customers that with the extended warranty, if they can't fix the problem, they will replace. However, the warranty people say that if the tech says there is nothing wrong, there is nothing more they can do. Hmm, go figure. Does that save them money and screw the consumer, you bet. Have been through the same situation 2 times in 14 months? Any help out there for the poor working man would be appreciated. We don't have the money to keep replacing a $1,300 fridge every year. Thank you for listening.
Economic damage to fridge is nothing at this point. It started to freeze food though in the freezer. The physical damage to the fridge is nothing but the physical damage to us is tremendous. I have gotten physically ill trying to get this resolved. My heart races and my stomach is in knots. I have lupus and my husband is going in for back surgery with 6 months’ recuperation. Needless to say, this is not helping us. Thank you.

In September 2008, I purchased an Amcor Portable Air Conditioner at a Home Depot store located at 8181 Airline Highway in Baton Rouge, LA. The reason I bought it was to provide cooling during power outages. Power would be provided by a generator. Recently, I was using it to supplement my upstairs central air conditioner. After using it for about a week, the compressor would not come on. The warranty is for one year for the unit, and five years for the compressor. This was in early July 2009.
I called the telephone number listed in the Owners Manual (**). The message is that the number is not in service. Then, I went to the Home Depot where I bought it to find out how I could get warranty service. Customer Service (Ms. **) tried to contact Amcor. She reached an answering machine and left a message requesting a return call to her.
I called her the next day and she had not received a return call. I called her the following day, but she was not in and did not return my call. The following day, I left town for several weeks. In late July 2008, I returned to the store. Ms. **was not in but a Customer Service named ** helped me. She submitted an electronic request to them requesting they contact me either by telephone or by email. I have not been contacted by them. I called **, and she spoke with a manager. The manager was going to try to find out if the company had been sold to another company, and if so, the name of the new company.
I have paid Home Depot $260.73, and have nothing of value for my money. I think Home Depot should provide warranty service, exchange my air conditioner for another one, or allow me to return the unit and refund my money.

In 2004, my husband Tom and I bought appliances for our house. We bought GE everything and spent well over a thousand dollars. We have been calling GE and Home Depot because our appliances keep breaking. The GE stove that we ordered, we didn't get because they sold it and discontinued it and every other thing there is under the sun for an excuse. They came and finally fixed it, but it still, when the hot point stove trips the breakers, it shoots flames out the side of the stove and electrocutes people. Considering that we have a seven month old girl and a three year old girl, having a stove is critical but we cannot use our stove due to the above reason, yet we cannot keep eating the ways that we are because winter will be here soon and I cannot just cook outside when it's twenty below zero on a gas grill.
The guy who came to fix it said that it was infested with mice. Well, where is the evidence? The guy didn't even take the stove apart to look at it. Also, our dishwasher when you start it, it leaks water out the front of it and needs the seals, and many other things that are wrong with it. We want our money back so we can get our new stove and dishwasher. I'm sick of constantly having to complain about these appliances. They are not even the ones that I ordered, but after waiting, we got the cheaper products that we didn't order. At this point, we just wanted to get our kitchen put together and it had already had been at that point three months roughly since we had purchased and gotten them to our house. Please help us get our money back for a new stove and dishwasher.

My husband and I bought appliances at Home Depot in Lebanon, NH when they first opened on June of ‘04. The first order was for a refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher, and microwave hood for over the stove. When they called us to tell us our appliances were in, we went there and to our disappointment the only thing that was okay was the microwave. The refrigerator we bought was discontinued the day that we bought it, but we didn't find out about it until we came to pick up the items. The stove was sold to someone else and the dishwasher was the wrong brand along with the stove and the refrigerator. We had to have a refrigerator because we were getting married the next day at our house and had nothing to keep stuff cool. We had to pay full price for. We had to reorder the stove. We order again and by the time we got our stove, which was supposed to be a GE stove priced at around $800, it was a $599 Hotpoint stove and we didn't get the money back from the difference.
Now, four years later, the stove has been worked on more than four times. It now is tripping the breaker and when it trips the breakers, it shoots either a flame or a spark out the side of the stove. It has even shocked my husband a few times. We have two very young kids. We cannot have this stove in our house. We have tried contacting GE and Home Depot, but have gotten nowhere. The guy that came to fix it said that we have a mouse infestation. When we pulled the stove out, there are no mouse droppings that we could see. So, they won’t give us our money back for the stove because of the mouse problem and the stove is under warranty for, I think, another year. We don't even want to try to fix the stove because we have had so many problems with it. We want our money back so we can go to another store and get a different one. What should we do about it?

Plus, ice would fall out of the tray when you pulled the bottom freezer door out to gain access to the freezer. After numerous calls and complaints, we were given an upgraded module fridge (LFD22860TT) only to learn we had the same problems. Now, the white pieces on top of the doors have broken off as I see others have had, too. After months and months of calls to LG Service, I was finally told, "You are now out of warranty. We can no longer help you." I wrote then and called them back and said we were not out of warranty when the problems occurred; but since you failed to contact me for repair for months and months, I am now out of warranty? First, we went into Home Depot to return it, 12-12-06, because the handles on the doors kept coming off & still do, things in frig keep freezing & after adjusting it down different times, it still does, and you can't get ice out without cubes and/or shavings of ice on the floor and the rubber mechanism to work the water and ice is so hard and/or stiff, that you think that you are going to break your glass just using it. But they said we couldn't return it and that we had to call a repair co. first, so Steve ** at Home Depot gave us a number to call. So I did, and a repair man from A&E Factory Service came out to fix it. But putting different screws in for handles has never fixed the problem and had no answer for the freezing part in frig and only told us that poor design was the fault for the ice coming out the way it did, making a mess and the hard rubber mechanism of the button to push for the water and ice.
I can only say that the tolerance for this machine has reached its end. We thought, that buying a Maytag would be a good decision and appliance, but this has proven to be a mistake on our part, and will in the future go back to the brand of our previous frig, a Frigedaire frig. which is 14 and a half years old, and still hasn't given us any problems like this, it's ice making part quit, and instead of buying the part, my husband wanted to buy me a new frig (again, a mistake and with an expense to boot.) But my husband & I don't just hold you at fault, we are not happy with Home Depot. I mean come on, you tell me just because it is big, a person can't return it?
We have learned not to buy appliances from them any more, and will have no hesitation of telling others of our experience with them. I stress again, that this comes to you now, after 2 and half years because of our tolerance for this is up. Please contact us of your response on this situation by e-mail and/or calling, or writing a letter. Thank you for your time and being able of sharing this frustration.

On 6/15/2009, I went to Home Depot to shop for appliances. I picked out an LG range, LG micro, Maytag dishwasher and LG refrigerator. I spoke with Christi that day and she gave me a written quote on the appliances. The refrigerator had a price tag of $1499 on it then there would be 10% off that. When Christi pulled it up on the computer, the price was shown as $1599. The quote printed out as $1599 so Christi wrote $1499 on the quote then minus the 10%, it was $1349. Christi signed her name by the correct price on the quote and wrote wrong signage on it. She said that way if she wasn't there when I came back, the person who waited on me would know that the refrigerator was tagged $1499.
So on 6/17/2009, I went back to Home Depot to purchase these four appliances for a total of $3056. Guess what? Home Depot wouldn't honor their own price. Christi wasn't there and I dealt with Jennifer. When I pointed out to Jennifer what was written on the quote and explained about the price tag, she said it didn't matter the quote was only good for 24 hours (the first I had heard of that and nowhere does it say that on the quote). She offered to call the manager, Patrick, and I said go ahead. She told him I was there to buy several appliances and what the problem was. He said I had to pay what the computer said. I still can not believe that the manager of the store would rather let a $3000 sale walk out the door because they wouldn't honor their posted price. No wonder Home Depot is in trouble.

So I cleared my schedule for the day, 8AM-5PM, on a Friday. I received an automated call the day before advising that my delivery window is 4PM-8PM! This was unacceptable and not what I was advised. The recording only offered a long distance, out of state call back number and advised that my delivery time could not be changed. I called the store for help and was given a toll-free number for GE, who was apparently the company that was to deliver and install my new Maytag.
I contacted them and got nowhere, other than to cancel the delivery on the 29th. GE advised that they deliver 8AM-8PM and will not advise you until the night before when your 4-hour window for delivery would be. They expect that you hold 12 hours open for them. They would not work with me at all. As it is difficult with two small children to clear an entire day, some days I could do morning, some afternoon or evening, but I had to schedule more than a week out to clear an entire Saturday to wait for my assigned time. Their response was "take it or leave it." I contacted the store again and was told basically the same thing, followed by "There's nothing we can do about it."
The store would not stand behind their delivery time hours promised by their sales associates. I even tried to just go pick it up myself and get it installed so I could get a working stove in my house sooner than the now 2+ weeks since I will have paid for it or just get a refund and go buy it somewhere else. I was advised that I could not have it delivered to the store or just go in and pick it up, and cancelling would cost me a 15% restocking fee for an item I can't actually receive. None of these problems, including that fact that it was not Home Depot that was actually doing the delivery/install nor that they require a 12-hour window to schedule delivery, was disclosed prior to purchase! I purchased an LG gas dryer for my home. Our house runs on liquid propane (LP), so we had to order the conversion kit. Our gas supplier is supposed to hook up the dryer and convert the valve. We, at the same time, had purchased a GE Profile gas range so both were to be converted and installed. We booked the gas company to install the two appliances, but they could not get there for almost two weeks since they are very busy with other orders. So we arranged to have the appliances delivered the day before the gas company arrived on April 14th, with the gas company arriving on the 15th, with my wife at home.
The gas company had no problem installing the GE gas range with it having instructions for the technician on how to access the appliance and change the valve. However, the LG dryer had no instructions in the manual and no service manual showing an exploded view or how to access the interior of the dryer. The back does not have an access port and there is no access through the bottom. The dryer is different than other dryers in construction. So the gas company would not try to do the job because they did not want to damage the unit trying to figure out how to open it. There were no notes on the unit or in the owner's manual to have the technician call LG - only that a qualified technician was allowed to disassemble the dryer. So the gas company left without the dryer being connected.
I stopped by the store and talked to Chad in the appliance department to talk about it. He printed out the owner's manual and I headed home. Once home, I realized it was the same manual we already had and would not help me. So I called the LG hotline. LG would not tell me how to access the unit nor would they send me a link or mail me any documents on how to open the unit. LG told me that they only tell the technician over the phone on how to do it and have no manual or drawings that they give out to the public for liability issues. I then called Chad back at the Home Depot store and explained the problem. Meanwhile, remember that my original gas dryer was now gone.
So the next day the 16th, I went back to the Home Depot store and talked to Peter. I asked to contact the LG regional manager, have him call me and get this settled. He called but the manager did not pick up and Peter left a voicemail that he would call back. After waiting the rest of the evening and all of the next day, with no contact from the Home Depot or LG, I went back to Home Depot and told Chad and the manager of the store to come to my house; remove the unit; that I will no longer buy from Home Depot any more appliances; will be complaining to Consumer Reports and the Home Depot corporate offices; and that they should push this up to the corporate ladder with Home Depot and LG.
So now I have to go to another store, buy another manufacturer's dryer, line up the gas company to install it (which might be another two weeks or more) and meanwhile I have no dryer now since Home Depot hauled away my original dryer that was still working. My suggestion is nobody should buy this dryer who has liquid propane. Help! I'm stuck in a catch 22.

I've ordered Home Depot installation of a GE 40 gallon 12-year warranted water heater to be installed. Because I wanted to use my Home Depot card and it was an emergency, I went with Home Depot. I paid $887 total: $300 for install and $587 for water heater. It became a nightmare. I was sent to three different stores after being charged and refunded 3 times. I needed a water heater! The store that's closest to me is Elmont LI, NY. An appointment was set. I waited for the contractor to call me each time. I waited 2 days to be told that Home Depot Elmont, NY does not install in Queens, NY. Okay, so now I called Home Depot back and the representative advised me that Freeport Long Island, NY can install in Queens. Now this was too good to be true. It was. The manager from Home Depot Freeport said no after telling me yes. Now mind you, these stores are the closest to me.
One month gone and my second refund later, Home Depot rep advised me that the only store in Queens to install a water heater was Springfield, NY. I was very pleased to hear that and anxious to proceed with appointment, etc. I was also aware of complaints online regarding installers for Home Depot especially water heaters and the $100 charge they'll try to impose. So with that all being said, the installers from Tristate arrived and just like a script, first of all, they sent what seemed to be very young and inexperienced (assuming approx. 18-21 years old). As soon as they saw the heater, first words (yes, that's 2 installers) they said, "Oh no we have a problem." Like I said, just like a script.
The water heater is tall and requires additional cutting. I said, "Okay, how much?" I do contract work as well. I said, "Do you need snippers to cut the tin vent?" I will do it myself. I was actually advising the plumbers. The young man quoted me a price of $90 for a valve and then it seemed like he forgot what else to say and decided to call his manager. After speaking to the manager, he turns to me and says, "We are not equipped to do the work" and did offer me an alternative water heater which was shorter and with 6-year warranty. He told me it was not boxed. For all I know, it could have been a return so I declined. The plumbers left.
I called the Tristate contractors myself so what happens next since they were not equipped to do the work. I was advised that they will have to place another order to install with proper items. So I went to the Home Depot to obtain a refund. I was told $887 minus $100. Of course, I told my story and declared it's not my fault the plumbers were not equipped and seemed inexperienced. I also advised that Home Depot has a lot of complaints online regarding installation services. I was given my refund. I decided to purchase the water heater and get a 20-year professional to install and was charged only $250. It appeared to me that these young plumbers were rehearsing along with the manager going from home to home to collect a $100 fee providing no work and/or poor service keeping a used water heater in their truck. This is truly a scam and quite tacky, until they came to me.

I recently received an extended warranty for my dishwasher purchased from Home Depot approx. 1 year ago. It never worked properly. I always had to add water by hand and suspected that it was not installed properly. However, the dishwasher now does not even work after I add the water by hand. It simply runs through its cycle without washing any dishes. Receiving the warranty extension irritated me enough to call them and let them know it has never worked properly. They now want me to call GE and tell them my problem with the dishwasher. I will do so tomorrow. The machine looks like new as it has been used very little due to the fact that I could not make it work. I usually did my dishes by hand as our household consists of only 2 people.

I purchased all my kitchen appliances from Home Depot in Decatur, Al on 9/17/08. They were delivered about 5 days later. The microwave would run but would not heat. I contacted the Maytag service department and they was going to send someone out. After two months of trying to find out when they would come fix it. I contacted Home Depot about replacing it. They asked me to let them see what Maytag wanted to do.
I got a call from an appliance center the next day who came out about a week later to see what was wrong. The technician stood in my kitchen and ordered the part from Maytag. Three weeks later I called Maytag to see when they would be back out to make the repair. I was told that no parts had been ordered and that they did not having any record of me or anyone else calling in. Maytag sent then sent the parts that I needed for repair to my house by mail. I called and found out that they found the order and would be sending the tech out.
In January the Tech never came so I called Maytag and they once again had no record. I contacted Home Depot and told them I have had enough and I wanted it replaced they told me they would call me back. Within the hour I had a call from Andy in Maytag’s consumer repairs who set up a tech to come out on February 9, 2009. Andy started my warranty over and said if they don't get it fixed he would send me a replacement. The tech came out on 2/9/09 and needed another part, he ordered it standing in my kitchen.
Now here it is March 25, 2009 and Maytag said they have no record of the part being ordered and they will not replace the Microwave because it had been to long since I purchased it. I contacted Home Depot in Decatur, Al and they told me they would order me a new one. The called me back an hour later and said they could not doing anything about it until Maytag authorized them to take it back and besides it was pass their 90 day policy.

The service man showed up at 5pm and said he does not handle this machine so I had to call again. The next guy came and had to order parts. I had to wait 2.5 weeks for the part which cost me around $150 at the laundromat. The technician came March 10 and fixed my machine. On March 16 my wife put the washer on and went to pick up her daughter at school. When she came home my laundry room was filled with water and the washer was still going which caused my basement ceiling to cave in. Bought an LG dishwasher in May of 2007. Had first repair in December of 07- replaced motor. In January of 2009 the dishwasher broke down again. Service man came out and replaced the motor again and dishwasher still did not work. Repairman then ordered a new motherboard and upon its arrival put it in and it still did not work. He then ordered another motor which has now arrived as I write this but repairman has not shown up although he was to be here between 8am and 12pm and its now 11:35am and I have not heard or had any contact from the service company in regards to his whereabouts. This dishwasher has been sitting in my kitchen since 01-16-09 unusable and like a previous complaint my wife and I have been washing dishes by hand.
Numerous calls to both Home Depot and GE which handles the extended warranty on this product have resulted in nothing but the runaround and what even bothers me more is that this product is still covered under a full factory warranty from LG on all parts. Yet Home Depot doesn't want to take the product back and either refund my money or give me a comparable product to replace the broken one. I have even gone to the store where I bought the dishwasher and now they are not recommending LG due to fact that all of the LG dishwashers only use the Hot Water from the hot water heater and there dishwashers have no power boost to heat the water temperature up to a level which would sanitize the dishes.

I purchased an LG refrigerator from Home Depot and had it delivered. From the first day, it was so difficult to open the doors because the suction was too strong. I complained to Home Depot who really didn't believe me. I called LG, who said to put WD 40 on the metal where the gaskets met. I did so and it didn't work. The warranty people did not want to make an appointment to come here. Apparently they think this is not a problem, but the integrity of the door handles is being undermined each time I open the refrigerator. The amount of pull that must be used to open the doors will soon destroy the handles. I only hope it is before the warranty expires. I WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY AN LG APPLIANCE, NOR PURCHASE ANY APPLIANCE FROM HOME DEPOT.

I went to purchase a GE 18 dishwasher that was on display (and had been for at least two (2) weeks), however, when the purchase was written up it came out to more money than the sign that they had on the display dishwasher, more than $100. The salesman then informed me that they didn't have this model anymore so I had to take another model at more money. When I spoke with the assistant manager and told her that the dishwasher that they were trying to get me to take should be given to me at the advertised price, she said she couldn't give me an upgrade at that price. I told her that there had been plenty of time to change the sign over the weeks and I had only come in because of this advertised price. She still refused to honor the advertised price because the model it was advertising was no longer being carried. Their signs should have been changed to reflect this fact not lure customers to this particular machine and then say it's not available.

I purchased 3,600.00 worth of appliances for my second home in Cape Coral, Florida from my local Home Depot. My wife and I thought it would be better to physically see the items we were purchasing rather than ordering on line. We were told that it did not matter that we were making the purchase in MA because the appliances all came from the same place and were shipped out accordingly. The appliances were delivered as scheduled and when the delivery man removed the tape securing the protective film from the stove the finish came with it. When I asked what happened, he said it was residue from the tape and it happens all the time and a good cleaning was all it needed. He was lying!! Second and most important the refrigerator temp. setting can not be adjusted, causing all the food and drinks to freeze and explode. I tried to resolve this at the Home Depot I purchased them at which was less than 2 weeks after the purchase and was told it was Maytag's problem.
Maytag said it was less than 30 days of purchase and it was Home Depot's problem. Finally, Home Depot got Maytag to handle the problems but their solution was not very helpful. They wanted to send repair man to evaluate. That's 1 day. Then return to fix fridge on another day. If the repair does not fix, then reevaluate and possibly exchange. The stove repair was scheduled for a different date from fridge. This house is a vacation rental property and is 1200 miles from my residence so accommodating Maytag's solution will likely cost me over a thousand dollars in air fare not including car rentals and living expenses. Lost income in renters due to not having working fridge. I told both Maytag and Home Depot that I would be willing to pay my way there to accept exchange but would not be able to fly down multi times to accommodate their attempt to repair. Further more, why should I? These products are brand new. I may have to buy new stove and fridge from local appliance store and store Home Depots in garage until this is resolved. I hate to do that but I think any other way could snow ball into financial hell.

When it was unpacked, we discovered that there was a dent on the side of the door and a small dent on the side panel. Coming home that night, we stopped at Home Depot to advise them of the dent as well as show the saleslady and the manager photos of the dents on my digital camera. There, we met Jose and spoke about what had happened but when he tried to call GE, they were closed. I put the heavy heater back in the car to go back the following day at eleven when he starts his shift. I explained we had no hot water for two days. He didn't care to help, just wanted a receipt. I tried to give him the number to call GE but he wouldn't call or help. He told us in front of everybody including my wife and two-year old baby, "No receipt, you aren't going to get **," screaming it out loud. I bought a new LG washer from Home Depot. It was expensive, new and nice. It was purchased in 2006, bought with a credit card. Shortly after purchase, the pause button on the circuit board would stop working, making it where you could not either stop the machine or start the machine. It would work 80% of the time. Then about a year later, it would work about 40% of the time. Finally, it got where you could turn the machine off and on and then hit the pause/start /stop button. The relay that unlocks the front door to start /stop machine got to where it would not work at all... almost. I say almost because the $85 repair guy comes out from Home Depot's competitor as Home Depot has no service or any employees that give a damn.
Repair man said this should be in the warranty but you need a new circuit board. I call Home Depot and got the Appliance Department. The salesman could not get rid of me fast enough to send me up to the African-American Front Desk who sent me to Bookkeeping who sent me back to Appliances who sent me back to Front Desk ... who sent me to Bookkeeping again. And finally, they said, "Here, call LG." I called LG. LG was in Alabama. It was the same runaround - a min. wage shy Hispanic sounded like she was 18, maybe, said, "We can't even talk about whether you have a warranty until we have your date of purchase." Home Depot can't give me date of purchase or receipt without identical credit card used. American Express can't give out my past number from 2006 as the credit card number changed.
So I have to go search through all my Amex purchases from 2006 if I can find the records to find the date of purchase as Home Depot will not lift a finger to even find the date of purchase and they will run you from department to department, until you get tired and hang up. Then I drove up there. The Appliance Department looked like the domino table at a rest home for men. No one was doing anything other than avoiding a customer like me who needs service - not another new LG washer that doesn't work so well. One guy said, "Here is where to look for the serial number..."
Thanks for that because LG won't warrant without date of purchase and Home Depot wont' give me the date of purchase without a credit card number and American Express will not give me a credit card number as that was 2 years back and it will take some time. Meanwhile, that's $15.00 to the Washateria while my $1100 LG machine sits there and maybe today, it will wash; then tomorrow, it won't. Then the next day, it might, and thank you, LG Alabama. I buy your expensive machine and have trouble and now I can't even get to first base to get my circuit board warranted by you or Home Depot and the $86 per call service guy can't fix it. So he just installed a new one and charged me 250 more dollars.
If you have a washer that works, leave well enough alone. The Alabama LG people are just as bad as Home Depot. They deserve each other. LG - Life's Good - is only a marketing term for lousy garbage, low grade service, loose grunt and Home Depot is the min. wage low morale store you can guy one in. I miss the two Maytags from 96 that were loud and clunky but they worked. You could at least turn them on.

I called Home Depot and they told me to check the hose, etc. Several weeks later it was still leaking. Asked that the washer be replaced since it was defective from the date of delivery - Home Depot has a 90 day return policy. The store manager, John ** ? stated that it was the store policy that they did not have to honor the return policy (the website first indicates a 90-day return policy but later in the text states that they don't have to honor it - pretty deceptive).
On November 11th a service tech (A&E Factory Service of Jew England) came to the house and assured me that it was the pump and replaced it (cost$147.45). This tech came late with a real attitude. He said that the transmission was defective and replace it (cost $309.29). Tech was in hurry, assured me that is what the problem was and left without testing.
As soon as he left, I ran the washer through a cycle and it immediately started to leak. I call the tech on his cell phone and he told me it was impossible and that he was now off duty to call the service number. I once again called Home Depot customer service and they spoke to the store manager who agreed to replace the washer. The washer was replace with a different model ((MVW500VW) which does not match the dry and does not have the same features as the first one. When I bought the washer and dryer, I bought a matching set for that very reason - not to have a missed matched set. Home Depot refuses to replace the dryer or give me a washer that would match the dryer. As an attorney my time is costly. I have spent considerable amount of time trying to resolve this matter. I assured them they had not. I gave my credit card info and was told I would have a credit in 72 hours (11/7). On 11/8 I received an email that my credit card would not be charged. It was.
On 11/20 I emailed customer service that the charge was still on my card. I called my card holder but they said I had to wait 30 days. I got a message from Home Depot that I needed to call to process my refund. I called Home Depot the next day - 11/21 and was told that my card would be credited less $79 that I had to obtain by submitting a rebate form for delivery charges. I explained that I didn't receive a delivery and was told that the computer did not allow this to be refunded. I obtained the form on line, which states that it would be fraud under 18 USC 1341-42 to submit the form since I did not receive the merchandise or the delivery service and that it would take 6-8 weeks to receive the refund...for service I did not receive. Now I have to submit the form - fraudulently - so I can preserve my 30 day limit to submit and I must send a formal dispute to my card holder requesting that they resolve this in the required 30 days.

Since we have been experiencing a drought in the Atlanta area the last two years, and my thirteen year old large capacity GE top load no frills washer was getting to the end of a very hard working life, on February 8, 2008, I decided I purchased an LG washer #WM2455HW and the matching dryer #DLE5955W. The sales person made sure I was aware of the fact that the washer would shake like crazy when it was spinning and told me not to put it in the upstairs of our house. My laundry room is on the ground floor so that was not a problem for me. I am glad we have sturdy floors. I was able to do all of my laundry in about four loads per week and was under the impression that I was saving water since I did more loads per week with my other washer. I was surprised to see that my water bill did not go down but had actually gone up several dollars after the first month and, I believe each month since. Then the smell started... I always drain the pump after the last load and wipe the seal with a dry rag even though I was not aware that I would have to do this before I purchased the machine (it is a pain).
This has not seemed to make a difference. Each week the smell gets worse, just like backed up sewer. The dryer has a beautiful large drum but, I was surprised again to see that it did not dry as well as my old dryer and the clothes are more wrinkled. It has even shut itself off several times saying that the filter needs to be cleaned. I clean the filter after each use and if I am drying towels or other items with heavy lint, sometimes I will stop the dryer and clean the filter before it is finished. I NEVER had this problem with my old dryer. I have not tried to contact LG or Home Depot about these problems yet but thought I would tell my experience after reading all the others.

We purchased an LG Steam Washer and Dryer at our local Home Depot on November 11 and arranged for delivery on November 15th. In anticipation of delivery on Friday, I pulled everything out of our laundry room so a new floor could be put down. I rushed to get backer board down, a new tile floor, grout and new baseboards and 1/4 round. Friday the Washer and Dryer were delivered only for the deliver people to discover the Washer was damaged. We were told since they were sold as a set, they couldn't leave the dryer and would have to take both back. A new delivery date of November 19th was arranged. I don't know why it only took 2 1/2 days for the 1st set to be delivered but almost a week for the 2nd set.
The same day, my wife contacted one of the managers of the local Home Depot and described the problem. She explained we did not have a washer and dryer, etc. The manager did offer to attempt to find us a loaner. We declined this. Her attitude then changed, saying, "Well, I don't know what you want me to do then." We patiently waited for our next delivery date which was 11-20. On the 19th, my wife receives a call telling that our new washer is in but the dryer was now on back order and they didn't know when they would have one. At that point, she declined delivery. She immediately went to the local Home Depot demanding a refund. The person at customer service was extremely nice and helpful. She couldn't believe we spent $3000.00 and still didn't have our washer and dryer after 9 days.
We had paid for this purchase on our Debit Card and she attempted to get us a cash refund. She was told they couldn't do this and it would be anywhere between 3-10 days before our money would be refunded. It is amazing that when we paid for the washer and dryer, the money came out of our account immediately but when Home Depot has to refund it, it takes up to 10 days. We are still without a washer and dryer, waiting for our money to be refunded so we can go elsewhere.
I don't understand why it is going to take so long to refund our money. I don't understand why our dryer was suddenly on back order when there was one sitting on the truck on the delivery day. I don't understand why the 2nd delivery date was almost a week after the 1st date. Even the customer service representative told my wife that she couldn't believe Home Depot didn't do everything they could to have us a washer and dryer the following Monday.

I purchased a dishwasher on 11-4-08. They said that all I needed to get was the install kit and I would be all set. They scheduled the install for 11-08-08. When the installer arrived at 15 minutes before the window they gave me expired, they said they could not install the dishwasher because I have plastic pipes so they left. I called Home Depot that night (spoke to Nate) and they told me that it states that in my paperwork I need metal piping when in fact it does not say that anywhere - it says proper fitting. Since there is already a dishwasher there, it would seem to me that there is a proper fitting.
When I spoke to Kate, she told me that I didn't have pipes up to code and they recently changed it. This house was built in 1989 and was recently inspected and no mention of a change in code. Both Kate and Deshawn said that I needed to pay a plumber to come out and change the waterline to the dishwasher even though the existing dishwasher is also a GE. The solution from them was to have one of their plumbers come out if I was willing to split the cost. I agreed. He came on Wed. 11-12 and put in connection he was instructed to put in. I spoke again to Deshawn and they set up another install appointment for Sat., 11-15. They came out but did not have the dishwasher.
I called back and spoke to Deshawn again and he credited me $100 and assured me that this never happens and that he would get in installed on Wed., 11-19. When the installers arrived, they said that connector was not the right size and they could not install it. I called Home Depot again and spoke to Nate and Kate and they told me that they would send the plumber out again tonight to get it installed. The plumber called and gave a window of 3p-5p and at 4:50 pm. He called and said he would be late and would get here at 5:30 pm. When he arrives, he states that he doesn't know how or have the proper equipment to install it.
I called Home Depot AGAIN and spoke to Johnny. He said, "What do you mean?" I told him that when I spoke to Kate this afternoon and she assured me that this install would happen tonight. The plumber that was here this evening said all the earlier installers needed to do was go buy a connector because they brought the wrong one. I talked to the plumber's supervisor and he said he will have someone back out tomorrow morning between 8a-10a. I called Home Depot back and Johnny had already left. So I spoke to Victor who was less then pleasant. I asked him when his store manager would be in and he said not tomorrow. I asked him to give him a message and he said I should just call back and I informed that every time I call to speak to him (Bruce **), he is not there and I get Deshawn.
I asked him how to contact the corp office and told me if I wanted that information I had to look it up online myself. I asked him again if he could give me the number and he basically refused stating he didn't know it? I will be calling Home Depot in the morning. I don't feel that me paying $531 for the dishwasher and $55 for the plumber and Home Depot giving me $100 back was sufficient. It might have been before today but not anymore.

Washing machine messed up, need a new one, went to local home depot to buy cheap washing machine and was talk and duped into buying more than was needed. Because there was no stock on all washers on floor, i could settle for floor model and take home today for a discount. Family required washer after long weekend at hunting camp so i looked at what was available now. Needing and trusting who i was talking with, was duped into buying a floor model to take home today and set-up myself, because no other products where available to take out. Needing a washing machine, I chose for the product the young lady was pushing, and bought them on the home depot card for so much more than I was wanting to spend. But was told she was going to give me 12m same as cash and give me a discount on the washer and dryer set both costing 2600.00.
Reluctantly, I said yes and signed the papers after she added a 5 year service plan for any fault with the machines. Wife loves the looks and the results, till after 4 days of washing, bad smell came from the washer even after doing what LG manual advised consumers to practice. Very disappointed with lg machine and honestly believe my young children's health is at risk, not only their self-esteem as smelling like mildew at school. Very unhappy with product and home depot for pushing such a product on a needing consumer.

I went to my local Home Depot in June of 2007 to buy a dishwasher. I was hosting a bridal shower for my daughter and my old dishwasher broke. I purchased a LG stainless steel dishwasher, floor model. I made arrangements to have it picked up the next day and have it installed. The man I hired went down to pick it up and discovered the store sold it again to someone else. The store then gave him a gift card and he went to 3 other Home Depots to try and find one. He found another floor model in the Berlin, NJ store. He picked it up and brought it to my home. It was too late in the day to start installing it, so he left me a note telling me what happened. I had to pay him a day's wage for all this.
I noticed the insulation was ripped and the door did not close properly. Also it was scratched. I went down to the local store and raised hell. Since it was evening, the person in charge was not the manager and he arranged for the second dishwasher to be picked up and deliver another one, but it would take another week. I had a broken dishwasher in the kitchen at the other one in the living room with a shower scheduled for the weekend. The paperwork has dishwasher #2 for pickup and delivery of #3. The day it was delivered, I had to again pay the man I hired to be here with me and even though your people was supposed to install it, my helper ended up installing it.
I gave all the paperwork for the second dishwasher to the 2 men who brought the third dishwasher. Then when I started to get bills with the purchase of 2 dishwashers on it, I first called the store and after repeated efforts to get my bill corrected, I went down to the store. Again it was evening and none of the supposed top managers were there. Only the guy in charge for the evening. I blew up. He told me to contact the credit card company which I did. A few more months went by and the credit card company denied my claim and told me go back to the store.
We were now over a year since all this happened. 2 more trips and I got to speak to a man called Frank. He attempted to help me. He asked for any paperwork I had which I supplied when I returned to the store again today. After leaving the store, I received a call from a woman named Cheryl who was downright rude and inferred it took me 2 years to attempt to solve this problem (She obviously does not know how to count, I bought it in 6/07). Then she said her manager, Frank, told her to put through a credit to the credit card company "to make me happy". She spoke sharply and totally does not seem to understand this whole mess started because the store made a mistake. I told her my lawyer who is also my son, told me to go to the TV action news who investigates this type of problem to get them settled. She then said she was not allowed to talk to me because I "had a lawyer". She spoke to me on my cell phone. When I got home I also found another message from Cheryl on my house phone that was just as obnoxious.
I will never buy anything in your store again. This cost me the wages of the man I hired for 2 days, I have had to take time off from work to attempt to catch the "real managers" during the day and all this aggravation. Let alone the multitude of phone time with the credit card company. I work full time and my job requires me to be out of the area for days at a time, so Cheryl's tacit comment about calling me and nobody answers is still obnoxious. I have to work like everybody else to pays my bill. I figure the cost of my time and days missed from work on this problem cost more problems for me. I will now write a letter to the Better Business Bureau and a complaint for shoddy practices against your company. The only person in your store who even spoke to me properly was Frank.

Ordered appliances the first of October and was told the dryer was discontinued. Had to go back to store and reorder all appliances and pay more for the new dryer that replaced the discontinued model. We thought ok. They called back a couple of weeks later to inform us that this new dryer was also discontinued and the refrigerator was no longer in stock and would need to be reordered. We went back to the store again. The manager gave us updates on all appliances for our trouble, we order again. The next day, they call me at work to pay for the updated appliances. I am busy and upset so I cancel order. Here is the problem:
They talked my wife and me into buying all these appliances to get a rebate and then open up a Home Depot Credit Card for another 10 percent discount. So the first of October when we opened up this line of credit to buy these appliances at discount we also made a $1000.00 payment. We have not been able to get our money back after several calls to the store and the Home office. WE were offered a store credit but we want our money back. About a week ago, they called from the home office, informed me they were sending back my money but it never happened. I went back to the store last Saturday to ask for my money back and they put me on the phone to their home office. I have been told I will receive my money back in 14-30 days. I do not trust or believe them. Can You help?

I purchased a Maytag Neptune Washer and Dryer in late 2001 from Home Depot. Eventually I noticed mold around the rubber seal and did my best to clean with bleach but it was constant and wouldn't all come off. In 2005, the machine began holding a lot of water and I was constantly having to repeat the rinse and spin cycle to empty the water enough to take the clothes out. I called Maytag and found out that my brand new washer and dryer were both already owned by someone else and repaired by Maytag. I also found out that there was some sort of settlement that I just missed the deadline for and I wasn't informed of it since the products were already registered to someone else.
I called Home Depot and they told me that Maytag must have made a mistake and that they don't sell used appliances. I told them that I don't think they would have made a mistake on both my washer and dryer. I could see maybe one mistake, but two mistakes and the previous owners also live in my town. I argued over the phone for months about this. Finally I went to the store and after talking to Carol from appliances and the district manager who happened to be in the store that day, they decided that the only thing they could do for me was have Maytag repair the washer and bill Home Depot directly. I was told that Maytag would be contacting me within a certain number of weeks.
After giving them more than enough time, I called Maytag and they had no idea what I was talking about. So I called Home Depot and they told me they would call Maytag back and I would hear from them soon. I waited a few more weeks and called Maytag and for months, I went back and forth but was never able to reach Carol so I just had to keep telling my story to the person who answered the phone and would take my message. After several months, I gave up because I wasn't getting anywhere.
I filed complaints online against Home Depot and Maytag and never hear from anyone. Lately the mold is so bad that I have to use at least 5 fabric softened sheets in the dryer for each load to make my clothes not smell terrible. I have bleached it over and over but it doesn't help. The other day, when I tried to take my clothes from the washer and put them in the dryer water spilled on the floor when I opened the door. I closed it up and tried to get it to empty but the machine started making a really loud noise and smelled like something was burning.
This washing machine is a piece of junk. I think Home Depot should either refund my money or replace it with one that was not previously owned. I am scared to try to turn it on again to fix it because I don't want it to catch fire. I also think the mold could be causing health problems for us since it is black mold. I want Home Depot to be held responsible and replace my machines with new ones. They can claim it wasn't used all they want but still to this day after calling Maytag at least 20-30 times, it is still registered to the previous owners.
I have had many clothed ruined by this washer. Anything that is while or light colored is ruined even from one wash. I have probably had to throw out over $3,000 worth of clothing, bedding, etc. because they have been stained with the mold.

Last Summer, I bought one of your Remote Transmitter Temperature probe units at Home Depot. Model #ET-71 HD/SKU #294-811. I used it two times and it worked great. I couldn't have been more pleased. This morning, I got up at 5:30 to start smoking some meat for a family gathering and after getting the grill and meat all set up, I found the temp sensor did not work. The units seemed to be responding to each other but the Temperature reading was about 110 to 120 degrees in cold meat. Luckily, I had another unit, not remote, that worked perfectly. Needless to say, I was not happy. Spending $40 on a unit for two uses seems a bit expensive. Just wanted to let you know. Maybe QC can watch for things like that, but I sure don't know how.

On that date, there was no delivery, so I called to check the status of my order. I talked to three people at that number and was informed of three different things. One person said the date had been changed and I would get a partial refund. Another said the order had never been placed but my credit card had been charged, and the last (the supervisor) told me that my order had been canceled and my credit card had gotten a full refund, but that I needed to wait three days to see it on my account. Well, I waited the three days, and lo and behold, there was no refund on my account.
I called on the fourth day and talked to the same supervisor. He told me then, that he had not told me I had gotten a refund, but that he could give me a refund if I wanted it. After I said that I could get my lawyers to contact him, he made a conference call with me to someone at Homedepot store and she took my credit card number again and said she had just refunded my money and is sending out a receipt to my home. I bought all new appliances from Home Depot, along with extended warranties. I was moving to a new home. The fridge was back-ordered and no one told me. Found out the last minute, and ordered one I didn't really want, just so I could get delivery on time. Many, many phone calls later, they delivered a day early. I had to race to meet them. The delivery people said they do not set things up for me. We had to set up ourselves??!! The risers came later, back-ordered, then we got extra ones. It took at least a year for Home Depot to get the bills straight, and they double charged us, and did all kinds of wacky things with the bills. I had to go on the phone at least 20 times and make several trips to get them to straighten this out. That is my past experience. I will never deal with Home Depot for appliances again. Now, less than 3 years later, the fridge that I didn't even want has broken down. Now I am finding out how useless the extended warranty is. I have to wait, at Thanksgiving, for over a week just for someone to LOOK at it. How am I supposed to survive all that time without a fridge? This whole scenario is absurd. I purchased a Haier Refrigerator (HTQ21JAAWW - 20CF) on 05-01-06. Not being familiar with the product brand, I bought an extended two-year warranty, which ultimately resulted in one of my more prudent decisions. I have experienced many of the problems of others, already entered in this website, but to make a long story short, as of 09-18-08 the product was deemed non-repairable. I am now awaiting a comparable replacement (GE brand) and will be ever so happy to witness the departure of this Haier-from-Hell Collection of Manufacturing Miscues. I would advise anyone who purchases any such little-known product, to also pay the extra small premium for extended-warranty protection.
As a rule, I usually would not buy the extended warranty; however, under circumstances (already discussed) in retrospect, it was a wise decision. I visited two Home Depot Outlets today and found out that these two stores no longer stocked the Haier-brand larger refrigerators. A person would truly have to be hair-brained to take a chance on a Haier-brand refrigerator product after having read of my (and others') experiences noted on this website. I AM quite satisfied with Home Depot, however, and the services of the extended-warranty insurance company, American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida.

I never received a bill, but I made payments in excess of the minimum payment and once the repairs were completed, I paid off the balance. I received a letter of apology from about the error in having this judgement levied against me and was told that it would be removed.
Apparently, accounting office never notified legal department and contracted local law firm of this error on [their] part. This just cost me an auto loan and additional problems. I am having difficulties with American Express as they are concerned over these two, specific judgements.

On 5/27 my husband and I went to home depot to look for appliances and carpeting as we had just purchased an older home to remodel. We purched all Maytag,as they were having a large sale and you received a rebate of $ 400 if you bought the qualified items. We ordered matching washer ans dryer, stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. These items were not to be delivered untill we were moving into our home which was to be 7/17. So on my papers it stated delivery 7/17. Well, here we are moving into our home on the 15th and our appliances would be there a a couple days.
On 7/15 I received a call from Whirlpool that my appliances were on back order. Let me remind you they were purchased 5/27. So now they would be there 7/31. Not having a thing to cook on or to even keep things cold we started filling ice chests. I contacted Home Depot and expressed how, we'll say, unhappy we were and they went to another Home Depot, filled our order, except frig that would be delivered 7/31. We noticed our washer and dryer were not perfectly matching but couldn't remember exactly what they looked like in the store. Ok, now we are spending over $3 a day to keep food cold, what a hassle.
On 7/29 Whirpool called again saying my frig was still on back order. Now here we are, if we cancell our order we loose $ 400 rebate so agreed to wait again. This time delivery was 8/9. On 8/7 we received another call from Whirpool. It seems they can't get us that frig as it has become obsolete.I phoned Home Depot, they ordered me a new model, which I got a week later. Now it's time to fill out rebate as I have all appliances and serial numbers. I took all my papers to the appliance department and Beth started to fill them out.
They delivered me the wrong washer. Mine was over $100 more than the one I have. They wanted US to return the wrong one and we said, you deliver us the right washer and you can have yours back. This is 8/28 and I still haven't heard a word about the trade. Sure has been a long struggle since 7/15 and hope someday to get our washer and rebate check so we can go to Lowes and get the last few things for our home to be complete.
we spent way over $100 for ice, which we were told they would give us $100 to compensate. We'll see

I had a stove/refrig. picked out at Home Depot. The HD appliance specialist was wonderful. I had purchased 3 Home Depot coupons for $18 for 20 percent off up to 3,000 on eBay. When we presented them to buy our stove and refrigerator, we were told by HD manager they never accept 20 percent off coupons and it was a scam, and coupon was no good. The coupon looked very legitimate, and had the Home Depot Insignia front and back, scan code, et cetera. I asked for a statement to the effect that it was not their coupon, and the manager would not give me such statement. I explained I needed something in writing so I could go back to eBay with it if I were scammed.
He asked me for the coupon, which I gave him because I had two more. He said he would give me 10 percent off instead of 20. The store was already having a storewide sale at 10 percent off, and I figured okay, I would at least get 20 percent between the storewide sale and the 10 percent the manager offered us. The clerk and manager had taken our paperwork we were given by the appliance specialist who wrote up the order less our coupon so we no longer had the figures. We had a pressing appointment, and this had taken way longer than we expected, so my husband just wrote the check for the amount they presented to us.
When I arrived home I looked at the invoice, and we had actually paid MORE than the storewide sale price, and NO extra 10 percent from the coupon fiasco. It took three attempts and two days to call the store before I just accepted their offer of a correction to the storewide sale price and $200 discount, - not necessarily to my satisfaction, but I was tired of struggling over it. They are holding our check for ten days until it clears, and then we are supposed to go to the store and pick up our refund or credit for the amount they overcharged us. I have to trust that they will.
In the meantime our appliances arrived, but the guys who brought them were trouble from the minute they jumped off the truck. The one asked my husband for his power drill as their's had died. The one guy sat on top of my new refrigerator in the street trying to remove the doors. The other guy brought in the tray to the refrigerator and crashed it in our doorway. I asked him to set it down. I wanted to tell him how hard I worked for these appliances and to please be careful. He mumbled something nasty under his breath, would not look at me, and said he didn't have to listen to me, and was just thoroughly rude. His dress was very unprofessional and inappropriate, and his attitude was bad as to be scary.
My husband told them to just put the appliances at the door and we would take them in and set them up ourselves, which we did, and I am so glad we did. I actually quickly snapped a photo thru the door of the guys with the one sitting on top of my new refrigerator, because I was concerned in case we had a problem, and I'm just glad we did not let them do anything further than to leave the appliances off the truck for us to take care of. A horrible experience in every way, except my appliances are safe and seem to work fine.
I still do not know for sure if our Home Depot coupon was really a fraud as we were told by the manager. I was later told these coupons are given to store employees. I don't know what to believe. I also spent a lot of time trying to get to the bottom of the actual price we were being charged. Finally, I feel we paid for a delivery service we never received, as this is built into the price somewhere even with a rebate. I would not buy anything major at Home Depot again.

I purchased an LG refrigerator 2 years ago from Home Depot. Imediately after I received the unit the plastic funnel that directs ice from the ice machine broke. I was not able to get a replacement part. The part that was offered me did mot fit. Later the plastic drawers in the refrigerator broke, which I have been patching with crazy glue. The plastic in the unit seems to have a lot of filler in it (feels dry instead of slick) - manufacturers put filler into the plastic to deduce costs.
Lately the ice dispenser keeps freezing up. I will not buy LG products again, and I do not recommend them. I got screwed buying LG. I do not believe there is anything I can do but give it away - I don't want it.

I purchased a range and refrigerator from The Home Depot in Easton PA. To begin with, the salesperson entered my order incorrectly. When the woman in Customer Service brought that to his attention and asked if he would delete the order and enter it correctly, he said he would do it correctly on the next order and left us at Customer Service. After Customer Service entered both orders, I realized that she entered the wrong price for the refrigerator. ( it was showing up over $100. more than what was advertised.) Again, she had to void the order and start over while I went back to Appliances and pulled the display tags for both appliances. My total order was almost $1500.00. You would think that the sales staff would point out that there is a 15% restocking fee on returned items.
At any rate, the appliances were delivered a week ago and they don't fit. As soon as the delivery team put them in my kitchen, I could tell they didn't fit and asked them to take them back immediately. They refused and told me to keep the appliances ( and use them!) until I went back to Home Depot and found something that fit. I insisted that I really did not want them in my kitchen, they didn't fit, and again, they refused to take them back on the truck. I immediately called the store and told it would not be a problem, but I had to wait 24 hours to make arrangements to have them returned. I waited the 24 hours, the sales person I spoke with earlier was off so I was given to someone else who really couldn't help me.
Two days after that, I received a call from someone named John who told me there was a 15% restocking fee and I could either pay another $65.00 to have this independent company pick up the refrigerator, or I could return them myself. The next day, I went in to the store and spoke with Frank, the Operations Mgr. who reinforced what John told me re: restocking fee & delivery fee. He asked me to replace the appliances with something else. I told him I had been in his store on 3 different occasions and no one offered to help us. One night, we walked out because we couldn't find anyone to help us. I also told him I couldn't find the correct size at Home Depot. He asked me if I purchased new appliances somewhere else, and I told him I purchased them at Sears. He basically said, we can get the same appliances that I ordered through Sears.
I left the store to have dinner & returned about 2 hours later. I told him I didn't want to do business with his store & I wanted the appliances picked up. At that point, he said they would waive the $65. delivery fee, and they would try to have them picked up Monday or Tuesday. (This was Friday evening.) Today is Monday, I called the store twice, and spoke with Frank once, who said, Oh, didn't they call you? I said they hadn't and he said he would call them. It's now 7pm and I haven't heard from anyone. If I have to return them myself, I will, but I do not want to be held responsible for any scratches or marks on these appliances.
I'm preparing to put my home up for sale and cannot do so until I get these appliances out of my home. Additionally, I'm probably going to be held responsible for the restocking fee which comes to $400. Almost the price of a new range and $400 that I can hardly afford to throw away.

Over the telephone, I changed my order to a 36" Thermador gas cook top and a 36" Jenn-Air stainless steel microwave hood on the associate's advice. She assured me that the order was placed and that the installer would contact me as soon as the items were available to be installed. However, when I contacted the Expo appliance center at 1-800- on July 7, the customer service rep told me that not only had the order not be updated, it had never been placed.
I then returned to the Expo on the afternoon of July 7. The manager of the appliance area worked with me to update my order. After speaking to the installer on the telephone, the manager informed me that I should not order a microwave hood. I placed my order for the 36? Thermador stainless steel gas cook top and a 36" stainless steel Thermador hood. I paid for my order in full at this time. I was told by the manager that the installer would contact me as soon as the order was ready for installation.
However, I received a telephone message from the Expo appliance center on July 11, telling me that the Thermador hood that the manager had ordered was no longer being manufactured. I spent an hour back at the Expo trying to get someone to understand what the problem was and correct my order. I finally ended up ordering the 36" Jenn-Air microwave hood after the original associate I had dealt with spoke to the installer again about my order.
I then contacted the Expo appliance center on July 21, and to a customer rep who told me that the cook top had been sent to the installer, that the hood had arrived, and that she would call the installer to pick it up. I contacted the Expo appliance center again on July 24, 2008, and was told that all of my appliances had been picked up by the installer and that the installation company should contact me shortly. The following day, I contacted the installation company myself after failing to hear from them.
My installation finally occurred on Tuesday, July 29, but the installer was unable to complete the job at this time. Again, I was forced to contact installer myself after failing to hear from them as to when the cabinet doors and metal facing needed to complete the project would be ready. As a finishing touch, the installer missed the appointment on August 7, to install these items, but did not bother to contact me to let me know that they would be unable to make the time scheduled. I had to call the main office myself in order to track down the technician who was supposed to do the installation.
My project was delayed by a month. As I am 8 1/2 months pregnant, this does not leave my painters enough time to reinstall the sheet rock that the Expo's installers removed and repaint the affected rooms before my baby arrives. Since completing the project as quickly as possible was my whole reason for going with the Expo in the first place, I am really unhappy with the result. I would rather have saved my money and not paid the Expo's premium prices and have used the time to find a competent kitchen planner and contractor.

To my dismay, I called Home Depot about the order. I spoke with a female manager, do not recall name, and she told me another manager will call me to straighten out the problem. I called Home Depot back the next day, since no one bothered to call me. I spoke with Mark, another manager, and cancelled the order after I explained what had happened, but he could not assure me that the restock fee could be removed and again was told another manager would call me to let me know the final decision due to the circumstances. Couple weeks later, I get a bill from Home Depot credit card. I called the card company to inform them the order was cancelled. The representative tells me to ignore the bill because the refund was not applied to the card.
Recently, last week of July, I get another Home Depot credit card bill stating that my account was default and late charges were now applied. I called the Home Depot credit card company again, July 30 2008 and spoke with a representative. She gave me two options, put a dispute or deal with Home Depot, I told her I will do both. I asked her if I was reported to the credit agencies as delinquent and she told me she could not tell me that. I told me it was my account and couldn't understand why she could not tell me that information. She told me that I needed to contact the credit agencies to find out. I requested to speak to the supervisor.
Joy, the supervisor got on the phone and informed me that it could not be done that I needed to contact the credit agencies. I told her that this was ridiculous, it was my account. She then laughed on the phone and said, there is nothing she could do or I could do about it and asked me "what are you going to do about it". I promptly told her that I wanted to close the account with them, and I never wanted to do business with them or Home Depot again. She then tells me she would report to the credit agencies that I was wanted to close the account because I refused to be reasonable.
On Aug 6, I get a called from Home Depot credit card collections, and spoke with Patricia. I informed her my ordeal with the credit card department. She apologized and informed me that my account was not reported to the credit agencies as delinquent. I thanked her and told her that was all I wanted to know. She again apologized for losing a good customer since I had always paid my balance in full.

When it was operated, a small amount of water comes out and it flushes on the screen sensor F 11 and it will not spin at all. Meaning to say it is not working. I called the Home Depot customer service, Home depot care one, Home depot store with one answer to deal or call Maytag company which I did.
Maytag Company send the A&E technician 12 days after the delivery. I called Maytag beforehand to expedite to send the technician informing there is water inside the machine that causing the machine to be rusted but no avail. They said it was fully book until July 12. The technician found and reported communication problem ccu / mcu board, meaning to say not only one deffect but two deffect which I have to deal with it from time to time. What about if the warranty expired ? It will drain your pocket to repair and mintain it.
The Home Depot and Maytag Co. refused that I will return or to be replace a new one. They insisted to go with their offer which to repair the washing machine that I just bought it and never use it. Where is my right as a Consumer? Like I'm buying a second hand machine, with the same expensive price that you can not use it. I refused to cooperate with them to repair the machine because I feel I am cheated with this two companies. How it was a frustrating, humiliating and unfair experience to shop at Home Depot with a damage product that you couldn't return and replace it.Ripoff to you
Home Depot and Maytag.
To the consumer, be careful to shop at home depot with their product promotions that really it doesn't work. The first thing they did, they refused to give me and increase of my Home Depot credit which supposed to buy the GE washing machine. Then the folowing day July 18 they send me an email to call the Home Credit Card Service about the increased my credit. I called them and to my surprised in a second they incresed my credit limit enough to the washing machine. Now that GE washing machine that about to is not available anymore so we ordered the Maytag front loader washing machine which is not working and damage one. Is it right or fair to pay my home depot credit card which I used to buy this washing machine that I cannot enjoy to used it because it is not working at all?
Do this two companise have the right to to refused to replace this washing to a new working one. The damage they've done is I've have no washing machine to use because they hauled already the old one. I have to go to the laundry store to wash our clothes with extra time and more moneyto spend. I have to pay my home depot credit card with the interest which I used to buy this damage washing machine and I never used it. With my family having two kids we feel uncomfortable and dissapointed that we went through this kind of a problem. I hope and I'm expecting that somebody could help us out.

I've special ordered twice from this specific store and both times, they can't deliver even close to time frame I was quoted.(both times items to be shipped to store for customer pickup)
This last time, ordered a dishwasher -- store checked and had 17 of the specific model in New Jersey (site they receive deliveries TWICE a week)and should be no problem, delivery expected in 10 days. Now, at the end of 3rd week(almost into 4th week)since ordered and paid for in full, they have NOT EVEN SHIPPED the item yet. Went into store and had salesperson call --- said would maybe be on the next Fri or Monday shipment. Checking their web site to check on order, STILL not even shipped yet. (has only said on web site, for 3 weeks, that order in transit, not shipped.
Been without dishwasher for over 3 weeks now and becoming totally discouraged with Home Depot service/deliveries. Come Monday, if order isn't at the store, or verified that is shipped, am planning on canceling order and demanding full credit back. Will then buy same unit from a more reputable operation that either has item in stock or can specify 3-5 day delivery. Must say, am disappointed that I didn't go ahead and order from Sears as they have ALWAYS delivered on time!!!!

I must mention, the agents were least courteous and did not have the right attitude to explain what is required to install the new appliance. After repeated request, I could gather their request for an electrical outlet. I was told to reschedule the delivery when the electrical outlet is ready and these agents did reconfirm that they would come back to deliver and install. Spoke to Home Delivery America customer service representative and rescheduled the delivery for 7.9.08. 7.05.08: Hired an electrical contractor and completed the work for the electrical outlet as requested by the delivery agent.
7.09.08: As per schedule the delivery agents came home, however they would just deliver the appliance and categorically refused to install the new appliance. Reason, the new appliance is a slide-in electric downdraft and they are not contracted to install. Spoke to customer service at Home Delivery America and I got the same reply and they asked me to contact Home Depot local store from where I had purchased this new appliance. When I contacted, The Home Depot local store now reversed their stance (that is, what they told me during the purchase of the new appliance) and informed about their inability to install, as they are legally bound to deliver and not install the appliance.
I did contact Jenn-air and got a different reply. I was told all the Jenn-air appliances sold by Home Depot must be delivered and installed by Home Depot certified technicians. I went and met the sales rep. at Home Depot and he compiled detail statement of outstanding issues and forwarded the complaint to his head office in Atlanta.
7.10.08: Did contact the Home Depot local store and they echoed the same reply from head office that, "Home Depot will only deliver this appliance and it is the responsibility of the customer to install the appliance or contract the work to a professional installer." As I did not have cooking range for nearly a week, I was forced to abandon my fight about who will install the appliance and seek the help of a professional installer. I was fortunate enough to get a professional installer and the appliance got installed on 7.10.08. The installer was baffled as to why the delivery agents wanted the electrical outlet in first place, as there was provision in the new appliance to directly wire the electric range. I had to spent $350.00 to install the appliance and another $150.00 to provide with an electrical outlet, thus Home Depot and the delivery agents together scammed me for $500.00.
I would like to echo my appliance buying experience from Home Depot and I would like to warn all the future Home Depot appliance buyers. If there is any closure to this case, please take appropriate action against Home Depot and Home Depot to refund the $500.00.

On June 13th, 2008, a new LG brand front load washer and dryer were purchased from the Grafton, WI Home Depot store. The delivery date was set for Thursday, June 19th, between the times of 3pm and 7pm. The delivery service, RAS Appliance Service Inc of Muskego, WI (which I was told is an extension of Home Depot) showed up at approx 3:45pm. The units were unpackaged and installed by the RAS delivery personnel. One week later, my wife noticed that a load of clothes in the dryer was not completely dry, minor dampness was present in some of the clothes, which should not happen because it is a feature of the dryer to sense when all the clothes are dry. I instructed my wife to try another load and it did not happen again until the following week.
We were about to leave on vacation over the 4th of July weekend, so I told my wife we would have to live with the situation until we got back and I could call for service. When we returned late Sunday evening, she tried to dry a couple loads of wash and noticed an odor which smelled like rubber that was in the clothes. I checked the drum to see if anything had fallen out of a pocket or anything else foreign in the drum was causing the smell. I did not find anything. She did another load and this load would not even dry, there was no heat being generated by the dryer. The drum turned and the front panel was working, but no heat. I read the instructions for the dryer for the second time to see if it was being operated properly, which it was, then I looked at the troubleshooting section to see if the problem might be simple.
Keep in mind, I was still going to call service on Monday morning (July 7th), but I was just checking to see if the problem was something simple that I could fix. The first thing in the trouble shooting guide when the dryer does not generate heat is to check the circuit breakers and power connections, which I did. When I checked the cord (240V 4 prong) going into the outlet, I moved the power cord and heard a "pop", like an electrical short, come from the back of the dryer. I immediately unplugged the dryer and could smell something burning, similar to the smell that was in the clothes. Fearing that something was burning, I moved the dryer away from the wall and noticed that there were some burn marks around the access panel where the power cord is connected. I removed the single screw that holds the access panel on and removed the panel.
The first thing I noticed is that the red wire was very charred and the insulation was burnt off of it, and there was a lot of "spatter" which occurs when there is electrical arcing of metals. Being a degreed engineer who has done electronic packaging for the last 18 years, I know a little about electric connections, the National Electric Code and UL. The first thing I noticed was that the screw that fastens the ring lug of the red wire from the power cord to the terminal block on the dryer was not even close to being tightened. This is what resulted in the short, which could of caused a fire and possible electrocution. The RAS delivery person forgot to tighten it. Not only was it not tightened, they use a cordless drill/driver to tighten everything. Electrical connections should be properly torqued.
I immediately took some pictures and left it alone and called Home Depot on Monday morning. On Monday, Home Depot instructed me to call RAS, RAS said it was not their fault and told me to call LG. Finally, on Wednesday July 9th , a RAS employee came to my residence to inspect the dryer. At first, he did not even acknowledge that the red wire was completely loose, and wrote down that the red and white wire had fused together. Well, yes they did, but ONLY BECAUSE THE RED WIRE WAS NEVER TIGHTENED AND OVERHEATED AND MELTED BECAUSE OF THE IMPROPER CONNECTION. Once he acknowledged that the red wire was not tight, he tried to say that the screw was stripped because of a gouge in it(manufacturing defect) and that's why it did not tighten properly. I had to point out to him that the gouge was from electrical arcing from the ring lug on the red wire, BECAUSE THE RED WIRE WAS NEVER TIGHTENED ON THE TERMINAL BLOCK.
I finally made him add to the document he was filling out that the red wire was never properly tightened, which he finally did. RAS filed a claim to their insurance, Electrical Insurance and the claim was rejected, RAS claiming it was a manufacturing defect, that the red and the white wire had shorted because they were touching and fused together. The white wire in question, which is part of the LG dryer as it is manufactured, was damaged and fused to the red wire, but the red wire is PART OF THE CORD THAT RAS INSTALLED!
The only reason the white wire was damaged is because the red wire GOT VERY HOT AND MELTED BECAUSE OF THE IMPROPER CONNECTION OF THE RED WIRE INSTALLED BY RAS. I can not believe that RAS is still claiming that this is a manufacturing defect. It has been 7 days now, and all I have is a $700 pile of garbage in my basement, a bunch of clothes that smell like burnt electrical insulation, finger pointing, and a bunch of BS from both Home Depot and RAS.
7/17/2008 Update: Home Depot in Grafton WI requested that a LG service rep. come and look at the dryer in question for this claim. A service person from Dudley Kitchen Appliance in West Bend, WI checked over the dryer yesterday afternoon (another 3 hours that I had to take off of work), and filled out a service report on the dryer. He agreed with me that all of this was caused from the red power wire on the cord that the RAS delivery person installed not being properly tightened. He also made a call to LG customer support and technical support to report this, and LG stated that they are not responsible for the power cord installation, and any damage that occurs from improper installation of the power cord in the installers fault, in this case that being RAS delivery.
I have been without my new $700 dryer for 10 days now, it ruined 2 loads of clothes, I have had to make 3 special trips home which is 17 miles one way (gas is at $4.25 per gallon) and take off 10 hours of work, and I still have no resolution, all because the RAS employee who installed the power cord did not tighten a screw. Ruined dryer that has yet to be replaced, lost work time, travel expenses running back and forth from work to meet with service and delivery people, 2 loads of clothes were ruined by the smell from the burning wires.

I thought it was great that I could order my appliance at the Indiana Home Depot and get it delivered to my new Texas home. That convenience became a bad mistake. The service technician came out and told me that the dryer's poor performance was not the dryer's fault since it was working as designed. Specifically, it told me clothes were dry when they were not all dry and all of my wash and wear shirts needed to be ironed. I could ship the units back to Indiana for a credit, but they would need to be packaged for that. If I just put them on a pallet, I could not insure the units.
On top of that, Home Depot apparently decides which product reviews it will allow to be posted on its web site. Mine failed to make their review. I had previously purchased high end lamented flooring that performed poorly, but neither the store (even corporate) nor the manufacturer even felt they needed to respond to my written complaint. Products were delivered on time but the dryer did not operate (it spun the clothes) properly and actually dry the clothes. Called the store and was referred to the delivery company. Called the delivery company and was referred to the factory. Called the factory and they set up an appointment for the following Monday. Called to confirm on Monday and the appointment was not set up, then rescheduled for Wednesday.
Person showed up on Wednesday as promised and could not fix the machine. He ordered several parts still not being sure of what was wrong. Set up a return date, scheduled for 1 week away. I called the factory to complain and check the status of the ordered parts...ie. would they arrive in a week? Why they could not be overnighted/FEDX, etc. I was informed that the parts did not show a deliver date nor showed them as in stock within the USA hence, the lack of delivery date.
I called Home depot back and requested a replacement machine. They denied the replacement machine and claimed it was a factory warranty problem. I showed up at the store, demanded that Home Depot remove the appliances, cancel the order at no cost to me, period.
They claim I owe them money for the washer for a re-stocking charge due to the fact that nothing was wrong with it. I replied that I had bought a pair of machines and services under a single order which Home Depot has failed to adhere to since the dryer machine was delivered defective and has not demonstrated a single correct operational cycle thus, they did NOT fulfill the terms and conditions of the signed agreement.
They are taking the products back, possibly this week and intend to charge me a 15% restocking fee...a fee they will never receive since I am also cancelling the credit card for their failure to deliver the products under the terms and conditions agreed to. If however I would have received a single working cycle from the dryer, they would be correct. In this case, they never completed the delivery and paid for installation successfully as promised thus, I will not pay a cent.

This 11 day delayed in delivery should have alerted us of the upcoming problem. When they called my husband (he took a day off from work for the delivery), they said that they would be there at 3:00 pm. They arrived on time, hauling away my broken washer & working dryer, installed both the new washer & dryer, and supposedly tested both appliances. All this done in 30 minutes. After troubleshooting the dryer and over two hours of attempting to dry a medium load of laundry, the 'New' dryer still wasn't blowing any hot air.
On 7/2/2008 at 8:37 am I called Home Depot and was informed that they need to send my call to the appliance department. At 8:52 am (15 mins on hold); Bernie answers and informs me that I now have to call phone number 866 for service. This is the Maytag repair center. My question is; why can't Home Depot do someA Quality Assurance before shipping non-working or broken purchases? This incident and a previous incident where we had some (2 out of 11) kitchen cabinets delivered broken (sides caved in and was told WE needed to return them to the store even though they delivered them & they didn't have any others in stock to replace) we will never solicit this greedy, non-customer friendly business again.
[Maytag will] be out 7/3/08 (tomorrow) to fix the dryer. My hat is off to the Maytag team. Maybe they shouldn't let Home Depot sell their equipment.
Husband missed one day of work (had to use vacation), I lose 1/2 day of work for Maytag (Not Home Depot) repair man, time lost on numerous phone calls (and lengthy hold times w/Home Depot)

Replacements knobs are not available as Home Depot can not identify their own product. They claim they can not identify maker of unit by serial numbers listed on the Air conditioners side.
I have to replace $1200.00 woth of product because Home Depot is to inept to be able to provide about $20 worth of replacement parts. I had sent high resolution photos of the knobs in an effort to identify knobs needed. Weeks later the customer care rep message box is too full to even leave a follow up inquiry.
Ten perfectly working air conditioners will be heading to a landfill. $1200. in product useless as it is IMPOSSIBLE to get any type of customer service. Endless voice promps always lead to a leave a message and NO returned calls.

7 Weeks ago i called to request repair on my washing machine under an extend warranty that was purchase from Home Depot. they sent an uqualified repair person that never showed up when he made appointments for us to be home. I requested another more reliable service to be dispatched. The set the next appointment up with a repair service but it took them two weeks to get to us. During this process we have missed three days of work. The tech determined it was the transmission and would have to order parts. He advised we could use the washer to wash very small loads because at this point it was only leaking.
On Saturday 6/15 I place a very small load of undergarments to run on delicate and the washing machine caught fire. It filled my whole bottom den with smoke and all the fire alarms went off. My husband had to pull the washing machine out of the house onto the back deck to keep it from burning down the house.
The warranty company now tells me it will take another two weeks before they can do anything about this. First the repair person must deem the washer unfixable. He in turn must file a report, the warranty company need to file there paperwork all in all it will be at least another two weeks before they will be able to do anything for us. This is the worst customer service I have ever dealth with. I feel after all we have been through a voucher should be issued for a new washer and delivered for all we have been through. But no they continue to give me the run around with no resolution.
The money we spent for this warranty was not worth it. By the time you factor in laundromat expense, three lost work days without pay, plus money spent to have three repair companies come to my house, they could have bought us a new washer by now. I can only hope this message gets out to anyone that is considering to purchase and extended warranty with Home Depot, do not do it! It is not worth the time and money.
Lost time from work - 3 days without pay. Laudromat bills for 9 weeks. Gasoline to get back and forth to laundramat. House filling with smoke and now smells of burnt rubber. Plus the distress of almost having my house burn to the ground.

We bought an LG washer and dryer from Home Depot, then shortly afterwards cancelled our order. Home Depot lost the cancellation, then forced us to either pay a 15% re-stocking fee or accept the order.
Our new dryer has a paint flaw in it and we are fighting to get a new one installed at no cost to us. Home Depot is pretty much washing their hands of the problem, stating that it is now between us and LG. LG wants to replace the front control panel. We are concerned that this will lead to problems down the road. Factory installation is almost always superior to post ad hoc repairs. Our friends bought from Sears and Sears took their appliances back at no charge after the appliacnes were used. Sears has a 90 day money back return policy. Home Depot should just take the unit back and deliver a new one - no questions asked. Our recommendation is buy at Sears, not Home Depot.

I submitted everything I was requested to. Since that time, I have called numerous times, and have been given the run-around. They have acknowledged that my submission was correct, and that I would receive the credits,
They tell me things like they sent the check (said this twice). It is obvious to me now that this is a SCAM, and that they have no intension of ever sending me anything. I cannot understand the reasoning behind this way of doing business. I will NEVER make another purchase from any Home Depot store and will advise all my friends of what has happened to me.

In May 2004, I bought a thru-the-wall Maytag brand air conditioner / heater. The Home Depot flyer for these Maytag units stated there was a five year in home parts and labor warranty.
In early 2007 this unit broke and would not work at all. I had all my paperwork, receipt, warranty information, and the Home Depot flyer that clearly stated the Maytag / Home Depot warranty. Well Maytag said they were not responsible as the unit was actually manufacturered by Fedders Corp. under the Maytag brand name. Maytag referred me to Fedders. Fedders gave me nothing but problems for nine months. Home Depot would not give me credit for the unit, but they did offer assistance and finally got Fedders to send someone to the house and get the unit to repair it.
It took about two weeks and the unit was returned. After four months, it broke again with the same problem. Neither Home Depot or Fedders will take care of the problem. I have nothing good to say about Home Depot. Their advertizing clearly stated thw warranty. Can you help ?
Could not use my work shop for the spring / summer months as it was to hot in there to work.

We called a work center and the repair person stated that he new what it was without even testing the machine. The lets me know that this occurrence will probably happen again. I seems like GE is still selling a machine that is faulty. I would like my money back (full refund) for the set of GE washer/dryer and purchase another brand.
My wife and I are both ill and it causes a huge inconvenience to go into town to launder. It is almost 45 minutes drive back and forth, and another 3-4 hours at the laundry mat. Costs are: (fuel & wear/tear) $10.00 to $15.00; and the $15.00 to $25.00 for laundry usage. We've been into town twice. There has been no reply as to when it will be repaired.

GE hotpoint Water heater lasts one day! Home Depot sells water heaters with built in defects. I trusted them on a Water Heater from GE and they obviously don't check out the cunsumer ratings! They are big on buying lots of extra warrenty and GE is Big on rebuilding their water heaters just as soon as you have paid to have it permenently installed. I do not relish the thought of paying for several installations to get one working Water Heater or sitting home Monday to Friday 9 to 5 losing work time to wait for a one day old water heater to be rebuilt! I am extremely dissapointed!
GE should not be allowed to sell water heaters on days that they will not fix them! They can sell me a water heater on the weekend but they won't fix one unless I miss work sitting around during the standard 9 to 5 Business hours. Therfore sales should not be allowed during hours when service is forbidden! So I have a water heater installed Saturday that they do not want back and won't touch for days later leaving me in cold water them in hot water with me!
I will have to pay to have a plumber (who is not responsible for appliance quality) to replace my water heater since GE has a policy that refuses return and begins rebuilding your product the day it is installed!

The salesman stated that the range we wanted showed 0 on the screen which meant there were none to be had and we would have to wait until LG shipped more which could be a few weeks. One week later they called from the store to say the computer showed 35 being shipped, and told me to come in to place my order. No one ever stated that the cost ($1,100) would be charged IMMEDIATELY to my credit card. This item is not even in the United States yet. Why am I responsible for paying for the item before it's even in the warehouse? The Home Depot corporate customer care person stated that it is their policy to charge people when an item is ordered. I completely understand that concept when it is in stock and can be delivered within a week or so. However, this item won't even be in the US until the 10th of April and I don't feel it is fair to charge me for something that they don't even have yet.

The crew (who spoke very little English) could only deliver the dishwasher. I was told to call store to set up a new delivery date for stove and fridge, which was done. On the 2nd delivery, the stove was fine but the fridge was too big for the space (the crew measured), and we needed a smaller size. So the fridge was not even taken off the truck, and again it was a crew who spoke little English. We purchased a new top of the line refrigerator, washer and dryer from home depot. The installers had to remove our very large, heavy oak/glass front door to get the fridge into the house-no problem. After a short period of time, I went into the laundry room to observe installation of washer and dryer. They had crammed the washer up against the wall at an angle pinching the two water hoses, and in the process smashed the plastic electric plug cover on the wall. The guy was in the process of trying to remove the old fitting from the gas valve with two pairs of old pliers and was getting nowhere except to round off the brass fittings. I told him that the washer installation was unacceptable and then asked if he did this every day, and where were the proper tools for removing the fitting? The two of them told me they couldn't finish this type of installation--and drove off with my front door leaning against the outside of the house!
I promptly called the home depot I purchased the stuff from and was put on hold forever because no one could find the/a manager. Finally one came on line and after explaining to him what we just had experienced, I was told it's out of our hands. I reminded him that the sale and installation transpired with them, at that store, and THEY charged me for installation. He then told me another company installs the appliances, work it out with them. I asked him if he was going to drive out and help us put the door back on it's hinges. He informed me that that was my problem too! We got our (large) neighbor to help us set the door back on it's hinges again. I moved the washer away from the wall, replaced the plastic electric plug cover, got the kinks out of the braided hoses that we purchased as an option, got two small pipe wrenches out of my tool box, removed and replaced old/new gas fitting in about 2 minutes and finished installing the gas dryer. But I couldn't even get my 50 buck installation charge back from home depot.
50 bucks isn't a big deal, it's the principal of the thing #1, and #2 the blatant lack of integrity that this company represents. DON'T SHOP THERE!

First of all it took 14 days for them to deliver it and when it finally got here they was a dent on it. The icemaker water line I bought additional for $9.99 was useless. All it was was a 6-foot hose and the deliveryman said he wasnt going to hook it up because I didnt have the fittings or shutoff valve. The lady on the phone said he would install the water line for free as long as I bought it but that was wrong.
He never even leveled the frig and I asked him to take back the icemaker water line since he wasnt going to install it. Here its been 10 days and I still havent seen a credit back on my credit card for the return of the water line.
The drawers on the door are way too big for anything except a gallon of milk. Everything just falls over when I close the door even a 3-liter bottle of soda falls over. I installed my own icemaker water line and it started making ice then just stopped. I looked into the freezer department today and there was an ice cube stuck already preventing the icemaker from working.
My neighbor told me that is how they get rid of dented appliances, they send them out on delivery items.
When they started to bring the frig off the truck into the house I mentioned coming around the steps and he just came down the steps anyhow, putting black marks on the side of the frig from the hand bar on the steps.
Now I have to wait for the $100 rebate for the dent from GE, the $25 gift card and $55 free shipping rebate. I wonder what else will go wrong?
All in all, I am completely unsatisfied with this frig. I should have just gone to a bonafide scratch and dent store or an auction

I bought $1400.00 washer dryer and when it was delivered the drain hose was leaking. When repairman came, they didn't bring drain hose specifically asked for. It took another week to get repair man out. They say they will upgrade, it's now been over two weeks. I've paid $1400.00 and have no washer and dryer. And I was billed for delivery. Home Depot won't waive the delivery for the items I've never received.

We were shopping for a new washer and dryer. We went to all the stores that sold them to look for the best price. Lowes was the best yet then we went to Home Depot and we were told that if we purchased the GE washer and dryer set we would receive a $100 rebate plus a $50 Home Depot gift card. This sold my husband and we bought the set from Home Depot. We were told to wait until the delivery of the units then mail in the rebate and gift card info which I did all on the same day.
Today we got a postcard in the mail from Home Depot stating we do not qualify for the gift cards because we mailed our paperwork in too late. This were never told but,we mailed everything in before 30 days, when I called the rebate department and spoke to "Steven" he told me that the $100 rebate check was mailed out today, what a coincidence since I called today and that we could only qualify for one $25 gift card because some of the mail was post dated after the eligible date and the other mail was posted before the eligible date.
When I asked him how that could be since I mailed everything on the same date and couldn't he see that on the paperwork he stated that the paperwork is in a storage unit and the data entry clerk is the one who entered the information into the computer system that they use. I then told him that the data entry clerk may have entered the info wrong because it should all have been entered as the same date and that they should have the paperwork accessible in case of problems like this so the proof is in front of them, he in turn told me, quote: "maybe you're the one that's wrong and maybe you need to check your paperwork, you give us proof that you sent it in on the same day then we can see what can be done, until then you don't get your cards" un-quote.
I then became very insulted and frustrated and now I feel like we have been ripped off and treated like useless pieces of crap.

Two weeks ago, I went to Home Depot and told them my refrigerator had broken down and that I had an emergency need for a new refrigerator. On the advice of their sales person, I bought an LG refrigerator. I was told that the earliest they could get it to me was a week later. I was not happy about it, but was in a bad spot, so went ahead and ordered the delivery. I also bought a portable dishwasher.
The night before delivery, I received a call from the company telling me my merchandise would be their the next morning. I received a second call directly from Home Depot telling me my dishwasher was to be delivered. When the truck arrived, the dishwasher was on board, but the driver had no refrigerator. I asked the driver what happened to my refrigerator and he said he didn't know what I was talking about. I asked him to call his boss and found out what happened to the rest of my order and he couldn't be bothered.
I then called Home Depot and only then was I told that the item was on back order and they had no idea when delivery could be made. When I told them that I had told the original sales person that my need was an emergency and had been promised that the goods could be delivered, their only response was oh gee, we must have dropped the ball. They then offered to "allow" me to come in and purchase a more expensive refrigerator, which I would have to wait an additional two weeks to receive.
I told them this was not satisfactory and asked them to call their delivery agency to resolve this.

I bought a hot water heater after opening an account at Home Depot. After my plumber installed the water tank, we found out the item was defective. GE has been giving me so much run around, and the Home Depot will not let me return the water tank for a new one.

Six months ago, I bought a freezer, among other items, at Home Depot. I had everything else delivered, except the freezer because it was small enough to fit in our truck.
For the last three months, I have been trying to get the freezer fixed. I waited for an apptointment with Maytag, just to find out it wasn't one of theirs. Then I'm shuffled around for another month and an charged $25 dollars for someone to look at it again! I am then told it was a bad compresser.
So they tell me to throw it out and they would reimburse me only the orgiginal price. NOT the taxes or the money I spent to find out it was a defective product.

The other day, I went to my local Home Depot store to purchase a new washer and dryer. The deal was all made, and as we sat down to finalize plans for delivery, the salesperson told me that I had to purchase a section of flexible exhaust hose. I told him that I have permanently installed rigid ducting in my home, and that I spent nearly $500 having it installed just last year.
He told me that the installers wouldn't use it: that it is their policy not to connect to existing ductwork. I told him that I was sure he was mistaken, that the policy must mean not reusing existing flexible ducting, but he assured me that he was correct. The only way that the installers would hook up the dryer is if I remove or bypass the rigid ducting, and use flexible hose to connect the dryer to the outside. I spoke to the manager, and he confirmed that this is indeed the policy.
I contacted Home Depot's "Consumer Care" department, and after they called the store themselves, they told me that there is nothing they can do. I installed the rigid ducting because I was told that flexible ducting is a fire hazzard. The run from the back of the dryer to the outdoors is about 15 feet. While this distance can legally be covered with rigid ducting, local building code allows for only 8 feet of flexible duct. I would either have to move the plumbing and electrical connections for the washer and dryer, or move the outside vent to a location within my garage.

We ordered all of our appliances; refrigerator, stove, washer, dryer, dish washer from Home Depot in December. We had scheduled our delivery to be on 12/8/05. The delivery people called us the day before. I spoke to them and told them that I was 20 minutes from work. They said that was fine, we would get a call 1/2 hour before the delivery.
They called my husband on 12/8/05 at 3:57 and indicated that they were 15 mins away. He indicated that I needed 20 minutes to get home, and gave them my cell phone number. I left my work at 4:00 pm. I arrived home at 4:20. I never received a call or did they leave any type of record stating they came.
I called the Home Depot Direct about 3 times and they indicated that they would be there. My last call they told me that they put a message into their dispatch. HDD indicated they would call me back either way. We never received a call.
We now have no appliances, we gave our other ones away in preparation for the delivery. We are a family of 5. They told us that it was our fault. The driver said he waited 20 minutes for me. That is impossible. If he called my husband at 3:57 and said he was 15 minutes away, he would of arrived at my home by 4:15. I arrived at 4:20- We never got a call, and what happend to the 1/2 hour window?
I have never been treated so badly before from a store. These appliances were what we wanted. Now have to wait until next week.
