I used to like this platform. It was a convenient way to get small jobs done. But they've changed their booking system and automatically assign a time frame THEY think it will take to complete your job. I have a repeat task I do every summer - installing my air conditioner units. I have 4 of them. In the past, it took 2-3 hours max. They told me it would take 8 hours, and don't allow you to edit that any longer. What's more, when you cancel it, they don't automatically refund you, they credit you - I had to reach out for a refund. I deleted them from my phone. What a scam. And in the long run, that will hurt the professionals they use, because people won't pay twice as much for tasks just because Handy thinks they work slowly.

Horrible company. They charge extra add on fees for everything! No live person to talk to in customer service. When my contract was finally up after a year, I wanted to cancel and I was told I had one specific day to cancel, not the day before or the day after. I was out of the country that day on tour in an area with no cell service. By the time I got reception, I had missed my ‘window’. They charged me $100 to cancel my plan. Beware!

It is very customary for Handy "pros" to come very late, or not come at all. And sometimes Handy will charge you a booking fee even though it was not your fault that the cleaning did not take place. Many of the cleaners do not know English, not even basic English. But to their credit, I would say that almost all of the women cleaners are very nice. Handy is much cheaper than other services. I am not sure if that is a big enough plus.

I hired Handy to hang Govee lights. The advertised Holiday outdoor lighting. I assumed the person they sent out would know how to install them. He hung them backwards and they couldn’t be plugged in. He had no solution and took off. If they can’t be reused I will be out the cost of the lights which is $200. They refunded the installation charge but did nothing about the lights and he did a terrible job hanging them.

Horrible company. I had a cleaning scheduled. The woman messages me through handy app to call her the day before. I don't see the message. When it's time for her to show up for the appointment, she never shows. I message her on handy to ask if she is coming and she becomes unprofessional saying I need to call her before and she canceled on me. I call handy and they reschedule me for Sunday, and give me a 10 dollar credit. Sunday comes and 30 minutes before my appointment I get an email canceling my appointment and rescheduling me for Tuesday without asking my availability. I call customer service to ask about why they canceled, and I get a bs excuse about pro availability. They offer a 10 credit for a cancellation.

I had a subscription for bimonthly services which were rarely rendered professionally due to no shows or lateness of their pros. One week, a pro arrived late & smelled like weed. The next time, the pro cancelled & the final straw was a pro arriving almost 2 hours late & asked me to pay her outside of the app & that she wouldn’t complete the booking unless I paid outside of the app. While trying to reach Handy’s customer service to alert them, they failed to promptly intervene making me feel uncomfortable & unsafe. To make matters worse, the customer service reps couldn’t comprehend how dangerous the situation could have been & just told me they could rebook again for the inconvenience. The initial customer service rep was so inconsiderate to the point that I just said give a refund so I could rebook the services.

After realizing that I never received a refund confirmation, I called back & a nicer customer service rep told me to just rebook & they would credit the account. But after failed attempts with pros, I decided to cancel the subscription because what sense does it make to pay for services in the future that I may never receive. So as I canceled the membership, they also canceled the rebooking that was supposed to be credited. So therefore, I received no services & no refund for services not received. In addition, pros have the ability to say they’re at your home when they haven’t arrived as well which is problematic. That happened a lot. You’re unable to receive & send messages through the app as well. The platform is not efficient & the customer experience is a nightmare. I would not recommend.

They refund it to your Handy Account. Who does that? The first time, they did not refund our money to our credit card, we went ahead and booked another service and they asked for more money. So, we went ahead; but then again they cancelled the service and then we are stuck with $178 in our Handy account. I highly recommend reconsidering before engaging in any transactions with Handy/Angi. Our experience with their Haul Away Service, arranged through Walmart, left much to be desired. Despite Walmart indicating that the service was complimentary with a mattress purchase, the "professional" sent by Angi exploited the situation, demanding an extra fee under the pretext that King size mattresses were not covered. He insisted on a $60 payment, asserting that this was a discounted rate from the supposed standard $120, and warned of potential additional charges if the mattress was returned to Walmart.

To add insult to injury, the service provider urged me to approve an extra 1 hour and 45 minutes of comp time, even though the entire job took a mere 5 minutes, during which I assisted in loading the mattress. Following this incident, I reached out to both Walmart and Angi, and both agreed that such charges were unwarranted. While Angi committed to refunding the haul away fee, they refused to reimburse the $60 paid to their "professional."

Despite numerous attempts through calls and emails, it appears that Angi lacks concern for their customers, casting a shadow over their business values. I strongly discourage anyone from availing of their services to avoid falling prey to such deceptive practices. What's particularly concerning is that the individual responsible for this incident is still permitted to offer services in our residence, highlighting a lack of accountability. Instead of terminating his employment, Angi chose to let him continue, potentially scamming the next unsuspecting customer.

Moreover, the frustration was exacerbated by the offshore customer service, making communication with Angi even more challenging. Conversations with representatives in India, following a repetitive script, added to the overall dissatisfaction with the company's handling of the situation. Angi should strive for improvement in both service transparency and customer support, and reconsider the impact of their business practices on consumer trust.

I was then rescheduled with another cleaner who cancelled two hours before. The third cleaner came and said she was “allergic to dogs” (there were no pets in my home!) and texted on the app “I have to leave” after only five minutes being there. When I tried contacting customer service 16 times, the two times someone finally picked up they didn’t speak English. There’s no way to email this scam of a company who charged my card three times for $118 for absolutely no services. This company is literally run by a bunch of criminals and needs to be shut down.
