I purchased a dishwasher (Model No.: FDBB944CB0). The pump motor was very loud from early on, but the real problem is the high heat dry option. When this is selected, the end of the cycle results in a burning smell. It is so bad that the dishwasher has to be turned off manually. I have even had a neighbor come over after smelling it outside of my house! This issue seems to be prevalent on the Internet, and I am surprised that a recall has not been issued. I looked for a government safety agency to file a complaint with, but have not found the proper avenue yet.

I purchased a new Frigidaire dishwasher from Lowe's, San Marcos, CA in August 2008.I also purchased the 4 year extended warranty. Around the beginning of March 2011 I noticed that our dishwasher was making very loud motor sounds. It sounded like a helicopter preparing for lift off. I then called Lowe's Service Advantage only to find out the my warranty was with National Electronic Warranty. I scheduled an appointment through NEW for March 11, 2011 with a local company called Antech Appliance.
On March 11th Antech Appliance repairman came to my house and did absolutely nothing to help dishwasher motor noise. What he did do was scrape together calcium and mumbled something about maintenance and on the way out the door said that he recommended that we not use the dishwasher! Well my dishwasher was full of dirty dishes so I told I was going to run it to clean the dirty dishes and then not use the dishwasher until we heard back from National Electronic Warranty Company.
What this repairman should have said to me was, "Don't run your dishwasher because I have done something horrible to it. Now your dishwasher will flood if you run it and it is going to leak all over the place!" I then called Antech Appliance to tell them about the new major leak after their repairman attempted to repair my dishwasher! They said they would call me back. They never called back, I was not surprised.
On March 17, 2011 I received Interpersonal Message Code from National Electronic Warranty Company. I called back with said code and was told that my dishwasher was not covered because of calcium. Note: My Frigidaire Dishwasher Use & Care Guide and product instructions clearly state that my dishwasher is self-cleaning!
I then asked to speak to a supervisor about my dishwasher that now leaks all over the kitchen! Remember I called because of loud noise not a leaking dishwasher! ! I spoke with Merial, Employee # **, and explained the situation. Merial said that she would send someone out for a second opinion.
On March 22,2011 AG Service arrived to service dishwasher. Apparently the repairman didn't know that he was the 2nd company and proceeded to try to figure out the loud noise. The repairman then said he was going to replace the pump assembly. I told him even if he fixes the motor/pump assembly the dishwasher now has a severe leak caused by the previous repairman from Antech Appliance, Escondido, CA.
Obviously, the repairman from AG Service walked in my house knowing nothing about previous leak problem! ! I am angry for many reasons, today is March 27, 2011 and after missing hours of work and spending time on the phone with various repair people, I still cannot use my broken dishwasher!
It has been just about 1 month I am requesting that Lowe's honor my extended warranty and replace my dishwasher immediately or face legal matters.

About an hour after emptying out the Frigidaire Dishwasher (Model FDBS956CC0), my family and I were watching a movie when we heard a loud pop in the kitchen. Ten minutes later, we smelled plastic burning and smoke started coming out of the dishwasher door by the latch, just behind the electric controls on the door.
I immediately turned off the electric breaker, brought in fans. After an hour the noxious smoke was gone. The door latch does not properly seal and prevent water getting into the electric control panel on the door front. This is a fire hazard and could electrocute the user-- very dangerous. This dishwasher has barely been used due to a delayed kitchen remodel.
On second thought, water getting into the control panel also explains why previously the dishwasher lights blinked erratically, sometimes started on its own, and other times failed to respond to the controls.

I have called regarding this poor dishwasher. It is Model FDB2310 LCC0 Serial TH33113332. It does not clean the dishes and is so noisy. I have had 3 service calls and I am told it is the product and nothing to do. I have to use the high heat element and it still does not clean. I have to wash the dishes and if there is something left on the dishes it does not come off.
I am an elderly woman, disabled and lives alone. I have very few dishes. I cannot afford to continue to have service. Last time I called Frigidaire, she said only call for service as it wasn't under warranty. I bought this house less than 2 years ago. The dishwasher still had the tags on it and all appliances in the home Frigidaire and new. I am told, however, that they were appliances from 2004. To me, they should be working!

My Frigidaire Professional Series (Model: PLD4375RFC) which was purchased in October '07 (or thereabouts) has worked more or less without problems until this past month. One day, I set the dishwasher to run before leaving to run some errands. When I returned, the dishwasher smelled of melted plastic, there was an ER code, and the machine was very hot. I opened the door to let it cool, then closed the door and pushed "cancel" to see if the code was gone. It did clear. Since a plastic plate on the top rack was grossly distorted, I assumed it had been the source of the melted plastic smell. I have been able to run the dishwasher a few times since on normal wash/high temp but each time I unloaded the dishwasher, the top spray arm had been blown off into the top rack.
I would re-attach it but it would blow off each time thereafter. Three days ago, I loaded the machine and attempted to run a normal load/high temp. But the touch pad would not accept any setting but Top Rack, EcoWash, or Rinse Only. On closer inspection, I noticed that the bottom spray arm was badly deformed in one of its arms. So, I assumed that the top spray arm blows off because the back pressure is now too great with the lower spray arm deformed. I ran two loads two days ago on Rinse, followed by EcoWash successfully. Today, I did the same thing but I received an ER code. The dishwasher was hot and the plastic bowl was melted beyond recognition.
Thanksgiving is coming and I will have to have a dishwasher--my wife does not think paper plates and plastic ware is acceptable (women!). I have read that this particular model has been having issues like this for others. I hesitate to bother repairing this thing since some of the appliance repair techs on some of the websites I've read pretty much guarantee that the problem, if fixed, will happen again. If I can fix it myself, it appears to be a minimum $240 job; if I hire somebody, considerably more. All this for a three-year old machine!

On Saturday, 11/06/2010, I woke up at one o'clock in the morning for a drink of water. When I walked into my kitchen, I smelled plastic burning. After looking around I opened my Frigidaire Model # FDB7101XCB0, Serial # TH45077719 to find the sprayer arm melted onto the heating coil.
The front cover of the dishwasher was extremely hot to the touch. We had to shut the circuit breaker off to shut the dishwasher off. If I had not woken up in the middle of the night for some water, no telling if my kitchen would have caught on fire. On Monday, 11/08/2010, we contacted Frigidaire at ** and was told that our dishwasher was out of warranty and that this problem could happen. They also offered us a twenty percent rebate if we bought another one.
After reading on the Internet we have found that the heating coil has been an ongoing problem with the Frigidaire dishwashers for some time now. We have also found that Magic Chef and May Tag have had a recall on their heating coils in the past and have replaced the coils and covered the cost of the labor. We feel that Frigidaire has a real fire safety problem with their heating coils and it should be address as soon as possible before a fire takes a life.

My Frigidaire dishwasher started on fire overnight. I turned it on before I went to bed and I woke up to smoke. I ran downstairs thinking that something plastic had fallen through onto the drying element, but what really happened is that the circuit board on the back of the control panel had started on fire and had burned right through all of the plastic inside before it was stopped by the inside of the stainless steel door. Needless to say, the dishwasher is history. Normally I would find this very troubling, but strangely enough the exact same thing happened to my Frigidaire range just over a month ago. The dishwasher model number is PLDB998CC0.

My dishwasher caught on fire. Its control panel shorted out and totally melted and began to singe under the countertop. I started the dishwasher and headed upstairs; luckily I heard a loud "pop" noise and went to investigate. I smelled a funny electrical smell and realized the dishwasher was on fire. My disabled husband was able to disconnect it from the wall and we turned off the circuit breaker. I called Frigidaire and was told there was not a recall on that model. So we replaced it with a KitchenAid. Installer of new dishwasher said we were very lucky I heard it and investigated. Otherwise, it would have been a major fire.

We remodeled our kitchen in October 2007, which included a Frigidaire dishwasher (model no. PLD4375RFCO) This is their 'professional line'. Within 2 months we noticed that the steam escaping around the perimeter of the door was so intense that it was ruining our new cabinetry and base boards. We would also wake up in the morning to puddles of water on the kitchen floor after a night of dish washing and cabinet steaming. We had a tech come out 2 or 3 times to check and replace all the seals and were told that everything looked normal and leaking and steaming was normal(?)! 'Take it up with Frigidaire'. So we did, and they were not responsive, so not responsive that the warranty expired without any resolution and here we 3 years later, with ruined cabinets and a pile of towels near the base of the dishwasher. And 2 days ago, the dishwasher became 'possessed' and randomly starts cycles without any programming and makes an awful noise. Is it time for a new one? (Hopefully! )

Purchased this dishwasher in Summer of 2009 for use in a household with two senior citizens. After 15 months, the "mother board controls" quit working, the unit overheated damaging glassware and melting parts of my blender. "Service" personnel were indifferent, not knowledgeable, and rude. We had an appliance repairman out who stated that steam from this model has nowhere to vent and likely caused the electronic control board to fail. (His assessment concurred with internet comments and complaints about this model).
Repairs would have run in excess of $250, and he is reluctant to make them as he believes the problem will occur again. Sales staff at Plass Appliance have attempted to be helpful, but Frigidaire sales rep says they've had no complaints or recalls (Read the websites!). He told Plass to tell me to order a modification part. When I called and gave the customer service person the request, she told me, "You need a parts number; I don't got no list of parts, only numbers."
My brother bought the identical model three months before we did and purchased an extended warranty--luckily for him as he's already had three parts replaced. What a piece of junk!

About 5 years ago, our dishwasher caught fire. The warranty was over but as soon as we called the company, no further questions were asked and they shipped a new Frigidaire dishwasher the very next day. They did not want to old one, see it or have me send a purchase receipt. I told my wife, this is suspicious and they are probably getting many serious calls and do not want government-imposed recall problems from complaints.
Now 5 years later, we hear of this recall during this past summer on the same problem. Do not use the heating elements to dry your dishes! What is happening is the heating element becomes extremely warped, two sides warp upwards and the other two sides warp downward, and burn into the plastic tub and catch fire. These are cheap elements without amperage load protection.
Marketing engineering is what I call it - build cheap so that we have to buy a new one every 7 years. Obviously, there is no money for appliances that last 20 to 30 years as was the previous appliances I had. Corporate America wants bigger profit margins and more sales. Filing legal action is what is needed with media coverage for free publicity seems like the only avenue to go these days.

I'm typing this with wet fingers, not from washing my hands but from sopping up water that my less than one year old Frigidaire gallery dishwasher has spewed onto my kitchen floor. I imagine seeing how it is surrounded by cabinets that the bases of the cabinets have sucked up a bit and soon shall do! I have had the repair men to my house no less then 6 times to look at the said machine. Only after I was told that they replaced every moving part on the machine was I told I was entitled to a replacement unit.
The first day I was using the machine, all seemed well when to my utter surprise, guess what, I heard the same grinding, rubbing noise which I was all too familiar with from the previous unit. As if that wasn't bad enough, now it pouring water out of the bottom of the door at certain parts of the cycle. I'm tired of *** about this, and the fridge makes noise, the compressor and the ice maker as well. I also had to replace the microwave three times for dents. They really show up on a nice reflective surface like stainless steel.
Furthermore when I received the stove, all seemed fine. But guess what, when I went to use the drawer under the oven, it wouldn't close (?) because it appears the unit was dropped on its front leg and the whole body was bent out of shape. Unfortunately, I didn't realize this and had to smash the stove back to shape with a rubber mallet! Frigidaire, your products are shameful pieces of junk. Hopefully, you will go out of business. PS, you suck.

Purchased matching Frigidaire Elecrtolux appliances for our new home. Purchased 900 series dishwasher from Sears in 2005 and had nothing but trouble with it. Had the Sears repair man out to fix it 3 times. We even bought the extended warranty for the first two years.
The bottom arm came loose, got burned on the element, the dishes sprayed food all over the dishes so that I had to wash them by hand before putting them away. The last thing that happened was the computer panel started to burn. If we hadn't been home to smell the electrical fire, perhaps the house would have burned down. There is no replacement part available. The order desk stated that no more were to be sold. We now have to purchase a new dishwasher after only five years.

I noticed there was water leaking into my closet. I took everything out of the closet only to find molded walls and carpet! I investigated the dishwasher model:FDB1050REM1, serial: TH63384283, and had found that the heating element had a defect. The plastic part around the water pipes was completely melted away because the heating element would get to hot and eventually melted it. Thank the Lord I found it in time because eventually it would have caused a fire. I had to rip out the carpet in my closet and cut out part of my shelving unit because it was molded.
I now have to rip out the cabinet that was next to the dishwasher. It's a scam. You buy a four year old product. This should not have happened! Electronics are being made poorly and the customer is the one paying the price and the distributor is reaping all the benefits! Manufacturers need to stand by their products and have a warranty. Do you not warranty your product because they know its going to break? Unsatisfied customer!

We purchased a Frigidaire Dishwasher Model number FDB1050REM4 on September 22, 2008. On August 3, 2010 we started noticing water leakage on our garage floor and walls. After checking many pipes and what could be causing the leakage, we discovered that the leakage is from our dishwasher. After thorough check of the dishwasher, we found out that the heating element in the bottom of the unit had burned holes in two different angles through the bottom plastic shell. This has caused the water leakage into the walls of our house and garage. This is obviously a defective product considering the fact that the dishwasher was less than two years old. This heating element could have caused fire while asleep.
On August 16, 2010, I called the customer service at Frigidaire to file a complaint about this defective product. All my explanation was to no avail. I was told that the product is out of warranty and since I do not have an extended warranty, they will not be able to help me. Through my research, I found out that many customers have also had the same problem with the Frigidaire dishwasher. There has not been a recall on this particular dishwasher. Obviously, we do not want to wait till people die in fire caused by this defective heating element in this dishwasher.
This is not a warranty issue, this is a defective product issue and should be recalled immediately before serious accident happen since most people run their dishwasher at night before going to bed. Frigidaire customer service department is not ready to help us consumers with this issue, we therefore need to resolve this through the appropriate agency.

I bought a dishwasher highly rated with Consumer Report and worked (not great) but dealt with it for over a year. Mechanically, it wouldn't register to recognize any cleaning modes. ironically a year and a month later, after we purchased it, paid over $200 to have the whole front panel/mechanical stuff done with someone that is authorized per your company. Still, it never worked properly but I worked with it and it finally didn't work and had to jump hoops to get you to authorize new service.
Yes, no need to hear once again that I didn't extend my warranty. How about a product that works for more than a year? We had a GE dishwasher for 15 +years, never had it serviced for 5 people plus numerous entertainment and household guests. Now, my kids are older and don't even use this dishwasher nearly as much. It still doesn't clean or work. Again, I paid to have this fixed right after the Frigidaire warranty expired, over $200. This model was highly rated on Consumer Report. What a mistake they made. So just got off the phone with Frigidaire and I will be compensated for 70% toward a new dishwasher. Seriously? Wow, I can't wait to share this with Consumer Report.
I'm waiting for something other than this offer. This product needs to be replaced not only here but off the market. Shame on all of you for not standing behind your product. To take an extended warranty and use that as an excuse to not repair an item? Should it break after 1 year if you provided a quality item? No.

We bought our home in 2005 and noted that we would need new kitchen appliances. The kitchen was nice but the appliances were old. We went to Lowes and bought one of their packages, Frigidaire. Our biggest issue has been the dishwasher since day 1. Now after reading other postings here I'm concerned about out refrigerator and range. We have had issues with our ice maker but that's been minor. However the Dishwasher is absolute junk! My house smells like a septic tank because of this thing. The service company is ridiculous too. They are never prepared with parts when they come out, so I have to leave work to meet them at the house to look at the appliance only to have to reschedule for them to come back once the part is in.
They have replaced the pump twice, the circuit-board, some flow valve, the soap dispenser and other pieces. I will say that after the second pump and the circuit board it worked fine for about 9 months and now all of the sudden it's flooding again. MFS came out to replace the flow valve and the next day it was flooded and worse than before. The said it was an install default and that was Lowes' problem. Needless to say we are now shopping for a new dishwasher and will not buy an appliance from Lowes or Frigidaire again! So buyer beware, if you have gotten this far in the laundry list of complaints and issues the brand is not reliable and the company will do everything in their power to delay or prevent replacement or refund! The dishwasher floods our kitchen and doesn't clean the dishes well which poses a health hazard. It promotes growth of mold and bacteria which can be harmful to immuno-compromised people, the elderly and young children. This product is not reliable as a sanitizer for baby-ware. The economical consequence is frequent payment for servicing the appliance, the damage done to our kitchen floors and cabinets, cost in time away from work to attend to service calls, and ultimately the cost of replacing the unit. Not to mention medical costs resulting from mold and bacteria exposure.

It is very disappointing to have a $550 dishwasher last only 2-1/2 years. I will never buy a Frigidaire appliance again.

Our dishwasher had an issue with the drain pump assembly. It was very loud and upon inspection was found to have a manufacturer’s defect. When the part was replaced the replacement part was also defective. The pump is made up of two pieces which are glued and then screwed together. In my situation, the part was glued together but not screwed together. When the service provided installed the replacement part and tested the dishwasher everything worked fine. They tested it to simply make sure it would pump water and not make the noise it originally did. Approximately a 5-10 test of the unit. When I ran the dishwasher for the first time the pump failed. Seeing how it was only glued together and missing the screws that hold it together it fell apart, thus, causing water to leak from the pump and under the dishwasher and cabinets causing damage to our hardwood flooring and cabinets. The water leaked into our basement, causing minimal damage there.
When Electrolux sent out their insurance adjuster we told them that because the damage to the basement was small, we would cover those costs ourselves. (It wasn't worth waiting to have the damage repaired down there). The $20,000 is accumulated from the following items: removal of existing damaged floor and replacement $6000; replacement of damaged cabinets $2759; countertop removal $1475-$3050 (depending on if the countertops can be removed and replaced without damage); and miscellaneous labor costs, subfloor repair/replacement, plumbing and electrical works were approximately $5,000-$7,000.
In regards to my homeowner’s insurance, I contacted them when this issue first began back in January. They said that they could look into it but that it would cause our insurance rates to go up and they recommended we work with Electrolux directly to avoid this. The first claim that was submitted with Electrolux was denied, stating that the service provider did not install the replacement part properly, and that if they had, then the damage would not have occurred. Of course this is ridiculous, so I resubmitted the claim.
After resubmitting the claim, I found out that the part in question had been recalled, but it took a lot of investigating to discover this information. Even the insurance adjuster that was hired by Electrolux was unaware that the part was under recall. Electrolux told me that they would have to do some investigating of their own to see when the part was ordered and when the recall went out. Basically they needed to see if the service provider installed the part after being notified that it was recalled. In the meantime I contacted the distributor of the part and the service provider and neither was aware that the part was under recall. The only people who seem to be aware that the part is under recall is the liability department for Electrolux. I never heard anything back on the recall status. Instead I was told that Electrolux does not manufacture this specific part and, therefore, they are not responsible for damages resulting from the part. Thus the claim was denied a second time.
I then asked them if they could give me the information who manufacturers the part and they said they could submit a request to get that information, but I have yet to learn this information. I guess what frustrates me the most is that nobody is willing to take responsibility here. Everyone wants to play the blame game. The way that I see it is that if Electrolux is not responsible for the damage, then they need to release the manufacturer’s information so I can contact them to take responsibility. They don't want to do this, then they need to take responsibility themselves.
And the kicker: the dishwasher is a Frigidaire brand but Electrolux is the parent company for Frigidaire. Everyone I have spoken with at Frigidaire admits fault of the part is theirs, but because the damage is above X amount of dollars, it has to be handled by their parent company Electrolux. The damage occurred to my home on January 22, 2010. I have been working diligently on this matter and have not been able to get any answers. Meanwhile, moisture and mold are major concerns of mine. The last thing that I need is to see one of my children become sick due to mold in my new home.

Our dishwasher stopped drying so we called a repairman. He found a melted spot on the underneath side of our dishwasher. The part had melted away and broken up leaving two wires with melted connectors exposed; the wires lead to the heating element. He said it was a fire hazard and that replacing the part could create a new fire hazard. The broken part would cost $50 plus labor to fix, but we are afraid of creating a new fire hazard. We will likely replace the dishwasher.

I have tried to reset the unit and it doesn't work. I called customer service and they will pay for parts but that's all. The service providers they gave me all cost $130 to come out. I had a friend look at it and say it's a bad panel but they won't accept that. Then they told me they will rebate me 50% towards a new Frigidaire dishwasher well, I am still out at least $150 and I have to buy one of their models. I have looked at the reviews of these dishwashers and every comment is the same.
I am a nurse and my husband is a police officer. We have 5 children and this is a major inconvenience. I have never had an appliance be so unreliable. With 5 children we do not have the money to just go buy another one! I really don't want another one of this brand. I saw on Lowes website comment after comment of them broken within a 2 year period. I think this is appalling. I would love to see what people would say if my husband or I did the kind of quality work that fridgidare is doing?! Thank you for your time.

In 1999, my husband and I purchased the Frigidaire Gallery, professional series fridge, range and dishwasher. The set was working fine until about 5 years. The dishwasher kept getting stuck at one part of the cycle and the red heat delay light would come on. We would have to check it each time it was put on and click the dial over to the next part for it to continue. Then it would stick again near the rinse cycle and the same light would come on. Once we clicked it again, it seemed to finish okay. We got used to this but had to remember to only put it on when we were around to check on it and not to leave it running all night. If we forgot to check what part of the cycle it was on before we went to sleep, it would still be on when we woke up!
Then the soap dispenser door broke and won't close, so now we have to wedge in one of the soap tabs in the open area about halfway through the cycle and still it doesn't rinse off and I sometimes have to wash the residue off by hand. It also leaks around the front bottom edge of the door, so I leave a towel down to catch the drips. Thankfully, we have ceramics in the kitchen so there is no floor damage, just a big puddle in the middle of the floor sometimes.
The water doesn't drain out of the bottom of the unit even after I've taken the parts off to clear it out. It is now at the point that it's not draining at all and the water is just getting higher and higher and I'm not sure what else to do. Also the brackets that hold it onto the counter snapped and the unit fell forward and almost landed on me. I had to rig up a new device since it ripped the particle board apart so that I can't screw into that area of the counter.
My husband wants to try and fix it (that would be me by the way; I'm the handyman of our family) but I've had enough; I think he may just come home one night and there's a huge hole under the counter and the dishwasher has gone to the curb! It's not worth my time, money and effort or a repairman's. I won't be getting a Frigidaire again.

My wife and I purchased a number of appliances including a Frigidaire dishwasher from Best Buy on November 6, 2008. As a result of delays in our kitchen renovation project, we were not able to install these appliances until the first week of March of 2009. After the dishwasher was installed, I noticed water on the floor along side of the dishwasher. At first glance, I thought the unit was leaking while running; however, a closer look revealed that there was a substantial amount of water condensing on the bottom of our countertop just above the dishwasher. This was then dripping onto the floor. After more investigations, I saw that when running the unit does not propel the air away from the dishwasher during its wash cycle, it drifts up alone each side and creates this condensation.
I contacted Best Buy by phone during the second week of March and described the problem to them but was informed that since it was more than 30 days past the purchase date, that they could do nothing for me. I was told that I should contact a representative for Frigidaire service directly. I then repeatedly tried to contact the local Frigidaire repair representative. I left multiple messages on their answering machine regarding this problem but my calls were never returned and no one from their company came to our house. The repair service information is listed below:
Alliance ApplianceP.O. Box 634
Rock Hill, NY 12775
Phone (845 791 9572)
After this, I contacted Frigidaire service directly with my complaint. I was told that someone would contact me and that a service call would be scheduled. The Frigidaire service claim number is #** as listed above. An investigation of this service claim number should reveal that I reported this problem in March and that an inspection was never performed. Also, contrary to the statement from Best Buy, this claim should provide proof that there is a problem with a product that was purchased from them.
I did get a call from a Frigidaire service tech from Florida named Mike (we are located in upstate NY) and described the problem to him. He told me that he would send someone to look at the dishwasher; however, to date, no one has ever come to my house to perform an inspection on the dishwasher. This service claim has not been resolved to our satisfaction. This condensation is a serious problem as it can lead to mold and deterioration of our new kitchen countertop. In addition, my wife has mold allergies exacerbating the potential health hazard.
The appliance was installed by a professional plumber according to the manufacturer's instructions. All clearances and measurements were observed. This is a possible design defect and is posing a serious health issue in addition to potentially damaging our new kitchen. Prior to disputing this charge, we had tried all other channels to resolve this issue with both Best Buy and Frigidaire but have gotten no satisfaction from either.
As consumers, we have the right to be able to purchase products that neither pose a health hazard nor damage our property. In those cases where a product is defective in either manufacturing or design - and neither the retail vendor nor the manufacturer are willing to provide a satisfactory resolution of the problem, then consumer protection laws will be invoked. Therefore, we feel in this case that a full refund for the price of the appliance is warranted.

The heating element works fine, which is quite evident from the "cooked on" food which is now all over our entire dish set. I have had RSI Appliance Service of Livonia, MI out on 3 separate occasions to fix this unit. They have replaced the wash pump assembly, heating element, tub seal, and splash guard without success. When the repairperson was out the last time to fix it, he told my wife there is nothing else left to fix, and that the next step is to replace the entire unit. However, RSI sent the final work order to Frigidaire saying that the unit was fixed, and that there is nothing wrong with the unit. It still does not clean dishes. RSI told me that I must contact Frigidaire again, but Frigidaire is telling me I must contact RSI.
Meanwhile, my dishwasher is still broken. The unit cost me $457 and only lasted 1.5 years. I would like a full refund from Frigidaire for the unit (they can have it!). Frigidaire customer service reps put customers on hold for 25 minutes and don't come back on the line. Frigidaire's service company, RSI, will not respond to me. On May 20, 2009, I purchased a Frigidaire dishwasher at this retailer. I picked up the unit and paid a professional plumber to install it. As it turns out, when the plumber ran a test cycle, the motor was making very loud noises and recommended calling the manufacturer. The manufacturer gave me a referral to a local appliance service company, Allen & Sons, whom I called. A technician came out the following day and told me the motor was defective and needed to be replaced. I then called the manufacturer back and refused the repair.
I felt I was entitled to a new unit considering I paid full price for a brand new unit to begin with. I didn't feel like it was fair that having never even being able to use it once, I should have to have it repaired. They did agree to replace and install the dishwasher and delivered it to the same retailer I originally bought it from.
This past Saturday, a week after the original diagnosis, a man named JD, our sales man from the Warehouse Discount Center, called and left a message to have the broken unit uninstalled and return it and pick up the new unit. When I called him today, he told me that they would not pick up or deliver and that they would not pay to have it installed. He was so rude. I then asked for my money back because I feel like I am not being treated fairly and he told me that not only does he not have to give me my money back but if he did, he would charge me a 25% re-stocking fee. On my receipt it does say that "unless defective", there "could be" a restocking fee.
At this point, I am so unsettled at the way I am being treated and the fact that I don’t feel it is my responsibility to pay for a technician to come and uninstall the old and reinstall the new unit. I already paid to have the broken one delivered and installed once.

I learned how to maintain it myself - unclog the sprayer arms and make sure the heating element is in the clips and not warping or touching the plastic tub. The dishwasher has worked well enough for its lifetime. I started a wash cycle one night before going to bed. I woke to my alarm clock the next morning and heard a hissing noise. I found a flood in my kitchen! The water feed line to my refrigerator sprung a leak behind the dishwasher. There was a funny burnt smell in the air, which I figured the dishwasher motor may have suffered water damage while running.
After cleaning up the mess, I reached for a clean bowl in the dishwasher. It finished its cycle, as expected, and the clean light was on. I found everything inside it was covered with soot and there is a hole 4 inches wide and nearly a foot high burned through the back of the tub! The heater tube broke apart. The heating element wire expanded out of the tube and ignited the plastic tub! The burning plastic dripped to the floor, passing the plastic water feed line and burning a hole in it which apparently extinguished the fire. The dishwasher continued on until its cycle completed. The dishwasher is properly connected on its own 15amp circuit. A GFCI is not required.

I called Electrolux and they suggested a tech. come over to look into it. While he was here I asked if the dishwasher could be leaking (from time to time I noticed water on the floor). I called Electrolux again. They said I had to get another tech. to look at it. Another tech. did, he tried to fix the problem (twice).
I'm hearing about the procedures that Electrolux needs to follow and not getting a positive answer. All I am asking is for a refund and they can have this unit back. It's obvious this dishwasher had problems all along. And I do not want a replacement model. I'm not happy about areas on my floor where the wood is damaged. I immediately turned off the dishwasher and tried it again.
While watching closely, when the washer arm began to spray the water, the door popped open about an inch, continued to run and began to spray water on my wall again. I called on Saturday and a tech arrived on Monday. He said the latch assembly didn't work and would need to order a new part (which would take 7-8 days). After 9 days, I called and was told that it had not come in.
On the 10th day, was contacted that it was in and the tech is supposed to come out tomorrow to fix it. He said it should only take about five minutes to fix, so I'm hopeful this takes care of things. I'll be honest, however. After reading all these horror stories, I'm very leary that this might not hold and, worst of all, have a Frigidaire range that is only a few months old that I'm worried will fail me, also. I will never buy from Frigidaire again and am sorry for the losses experienced by others on this site!
I had to leave work and stay at my home while the initial diagnosis was made, plus time spent to search for a repair store and for numerous phone calls to them (Mr. Appliance). My dishwasher has not run for two weeks (as of tomorrow), and was only 4 days old when it stopped working. I will need to leave work again tomorrow to be here when the repairman arrives again. After 2 independent contractors came out to inspect my dishwasher and informed me that per the manual I need to run my hot water first for a cleaning. I was dumb founded. No where in any of the frigidaire brochures did it say this but after purchasing the dishwasher opening the crate and dishwasher door I got to the manual that states this even though this dishwasher is advertised with a variable delay start!
What the heck is the point of a delay start if you have to run down right before it and run hot water through your faucet to get your dishwasher to actually clean the dishes? Well that is what I asked Frigidaire and after 4 representatives it ended with an Angel Prescott (I'm sure this is her business name) who informed me that since the product is not malfunctioning this is in essence my problem that the dishwasher is not in an ideal situation, (mind you my old one that was 4 years old ran perfectly fine off the same water line). And that frigidaire had not falsely advertised their product with the variable delay because it says in plain black and white in the manual that I may need to run the faucet to draw hot water in the line!
Ok never again will I buy Frigidaire or Electrolux! I have had other problems with a kitchenaid product and received stellar customer service. Now Figidaire left me with a falsely advertised product that can't perform in a basic factory setting. Oh and to boot Miss Angel said the CEO Keith McGoughlin does not speak with his customers nor can I email him or leave voicemails. Only thing worse than Frigidaires products is their service!!!

I purchased a Frigidaire GLD3450RD dishwasher. In less then 6 months the control panel failed. It was repaired and no more then 2 months later it failed again. After a third failure the company replaced the unit with a brand new unit which failed with the same problem after 2 or 3 weeks. It was once again repaired and now it has failed again. That is 5 control panel failures in less then 9 months. I asked about a recall and the representative on the phone said this was not a common issue.
After going on-line it appears that this is a very common problem and a design flaw. The panel can not manage the moisture from the unit when steam is created. This shorts the unit out and causes it to stop mid cycle in error. This has been a nightmare purchase and a horrible company to work with. There should be a recall on this unit. I found about a dozen stories of the same issue on epinions.com and yet the company says it's not an issue.
I have had to take several days off of work to deal with this same problem. The frequent repairs and replacement has caused damage to my wood floor.

I am completely disatisfied with their answers. Instead of paying ?$20.00 or less &SH, I must now evaluate whether I should repair it or not and possibly re-invest in another Dishwasher. Fortunately, I have done the work myself, otherwise, I would have service call charges wasted as well.
