I made an online appointment to have a few things picked up. Cardboard boxes and about 6-7 garbage bags. That's it. 2 young men. Overcharged me. Said the truck was nearly full. They purposely drive a small truck and load it unevenly so that they can give you a lame excuse about pricing. Charged me $783.62. It's a scam and I DON'T RECOMMEND this company to anyone. A complete nightmare!

I was moving out and requested a basic pickup estimate. What I heard was the employee gave a "verbal" quote and stated no more than $538.00 with 2 employees using their trucks. I repeated back the amount to the employee with my husband on speaker phone. Since another company quoted around the same amount we thought it would be reasonable. My husband repeated back the same quote over speaker phone and we collectively agreed.
At the end of the job, the employee requested $5,060!! There wasn't a written contract or signed agreement. My husband and I make a modest living. The bill was a shock and an inconvenience for us because we had to call a supervisor to negotiate the amount. In the end we paid $1,500 just to end the stress, way more than we could afford. The workers were courteous and did a great job, but I cannot recommend this company as they should be more transparent with their pricing. Do your due diligence and read reviews. Notice a common thread? Bait and switch pricing.

Pricing over the phone was only max 838 but once they got there it went to 1850. We rented a dumpster which cost was just under 400 to cover all furniture and debris. 10 cubic yards. I will forget this company even existed. Worst customer service starting with initial phone call giving false hope and price. To being late and over doubling cost and adding hidden fees. I am writing this review because I want to warn other people about this service. We called up for an estimate on some things we had left from moving out of our house and within a half an hour there was two guys with huge two huge garbage trucks coming down our driveway mind you we called for an estimate not for any kind of pickup. They had to get walked through our entire house. We felt very uncomfortable. They wouldn't leave for like 2 hours and I feel really bad for anybody that's elderly or unable to protect themselves because I was honestly scared At a point. These people should be closed down plus everything that I've read online is extremely overpriced and they have different charges for anything and everything you could think of.

Take precautions before hiring this company. I typically do not write negative reviews; however, I feel it is my moral obligation to alert prospective clients to 1-800-GOT-JUNK’s unprofessionalism and injustice. The movers caused approximately $5,500 in damage to the restaurant beneath my apartment and have refused to accept responsibility. Initially, the company assured me that they were insured and would cover any damages. However, the general manager, Johnpaul **, later contacted me and stated that they are not liable, claiming that their employees reported my onsite realtor as the responsible party—my realtor claims otherwise, an assertion made without any vested interest or motive to misrepresent the facts.
Currently, the financial burden for repairs rests solely with me, in addition to the $934 they charged me to remove four furniture items. After multiple attempts to seek a resolution, the company has ceased all communication, ignoring my calls, texts, and emails. I feel dismissed and ignored. Johnpaul has prioritized his employees’ accounts, who are clearly hesitant to jeopardize their jobs, leaving me, the client, in a vulnerable position.

It appears that the way that 1-800-GOT-JUNK is able to get customers to pay such sky high prices is to avoid telling you the real prices you will be faced with. I was told over the phone that the most I would be charged would be $499. When the junk crew arrived, they presented me with a pricing schedule and I was quoted at over $800. It makes perfect sense from a business standpoint to avoid telling people they might be paying $800 or more over the phone because they will likely hang up and seek another option. I ended up having to keep several items because I refused to pay more than the $499 I was told when I scheduled the pickup. The crew then explained that the office staff doesn't know what the pricing schedule is. This seems like a deceptive way to get people to pay exorbitant prices when they have already set aside time for the pickup and prepared everything to be ready when the crew arrives.

I really appreciated the communication. The gentleman that came to load the equipment were awesome. But the price was completely outrageous to get rid of 3. Items, a couch, a recliner, and a TV unit cost me $500 plus a $75 labor fee, which was never discussed or have I ever paid while using them before? I could have rented a dumpster for what it costs to get rid of 3. Items and I might add that I took all the cushions off the couch and threw them away. The recliner was taken apart. It was 2 pieces that could be easily picked up. And the wall unit had the top taken off, and it was by the door easy For them, it took them ten minutes to remove my stuff. And I paid five hundred and thirty five dollars, not worth it.

I made an appointment for an estimate to remove a piano. Two guys showed up and gave me a quote. I told them I received a lower quote so one of them called "his boss" and they matched it. So I agreed. They started to roll it towards the steps, leaving marks across my wood floor. Then when they got to the steps they asked if I had any old blankets. So they sent an inexperienced crew without any proper moving materials to remove a heavy piano. As they are sliding it down the steps on my blankets, I hear a loud bang. They dropped it and it cracked the ceramic tile at the bottom of the steps. They apologized and told me the "boss" would be in contact with me that day. I heard him call the damage into someone. I paid (and stupidly even tipped because I felt bad for the guys who clearly weren't equipped to move a piano).
I never hear from anyone, then get the automated email from 1800GOTJUNK asking to give feedback. After I informed them no one reached out about the damage a repair company called. I texted him a picture of the damage. No contact to schedule an appointment to inspect the floor. I sent a second email about no follow up. This time ANOTHER repair company calls. Tells me they will call back for an appointment. Nothing. I asked 1800GOTJUNK if they will give me a refund for the moving charge at a minimum. My entire entryway will have to be retiled. They will contact the GM of the franchise and get back to me. That was six weeks ago. Needless to say, now I am left with grooves in my wood floor and a cracked entryway. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

This was our first time using 1-800-GOT-JUNK, and will be our last. Beware of them.... They provided me a service window of 1-3 pm, and showed up at 6:45 pm... No call, no text, nothing. My husband and I basically waited all day for them. When I called customer service to complain, they claimed that the original team of guys "couldn't make it" and they were sending another team out. Then, when they arrived, they quoted us $700 to remove an IKEA couch and loveseat that were taken apart!!! Absolutely absurd. I instantly told them "no", we were not interested. They then proceeded to call a "manager" (who might have been a fake person, who knows?) and asked us for $350, which we still said no to. Finally, they asked for $228, which we agreed upon, although still too expensive.
Overall, they seemed dishonest and scammy... They were also over 3 hours late for no reason. Do not recommend them at all. Oh yes, and... to add to all of it, they forced us to leave a 5 star Google review while they stood there and watched us write it, otherwise they would charge us more $$! What a horrible company. Lesson learned.

My mother died and we needed to have her apartment cleared out fairly quickly. They advertised that they take everything and sort it according to what can be donated, what is recycling, what is garbage. 70% of my mom's things could have been donated. Especially the household goods in the kitchen. I had boxes and other supplies they could have used. Instead they walked in with heavy duty garbage bags and started to throw all her dishes, China, glassware into the bags, smashing everything to pieces. They took my tool bag without inquiry. Then they took my mom's lawn furniture from outside, and instead of going around outside, they dragged it through the apartment leaving trails of filth all over the the apartment, the building hallway, and foyer. It was wicker furniture. It was light enough for them to carry it an extra 8 ft to the truck by going around the building.
The price was exorbitant. They left before I could check to see if they got everything out. They didn't and I had to clean up the mess they made. I had 8 bags of industrial garbage bags to throw out. If you hire these people thinking that things will be donated, don't delude yourself. It was Twice the price they quoted on first glance because you have to pay for labor too, which is not in the quote. The men were friendly, but I'd only hire this company to clean demolition only.

They called and asked if they could come 3 hours earlier. We pulled everything out on the driveway and when they showed up, they gave us a list of the "new" pricing. $1600 for a full truck. We could have said no, but everything was out so we went ahead and loaded it to avoid overtime. When they finished, we found out they only take cash of a credit card with the option of a gratuity. We took the smaller 10% and they didn't sweep up. Just left and told us if we gave them a good review, the two guys (very nice) could get a bonus. $600 turned into $1800 in the space of 2 hours. I argued and finally got them to reduce it down to $150. And the $20 off coupon did not apply. And then you’re also pressured to tip. I called and emailed them and they kept saying someone would contact me, but that never happened. I think they know that once they’re in your home, you won’t want to cancel. I called this morning to get quote and schedule appointment. I explained that I needed a king mattress removed from second floor. I was told that the quote is not by amount of items but space on the truck so it would be for $69 to include removal, disposal, environmental, taxes.... so I understood if the price fluctuated slightly based on differences in size of mattress. I was then told there was an appointment from 10-12am so I accepted. I was later contacted by this number and saying the times would be unable to be kept. Understood... then waiting all day to allow for whatever oversights in scheduling on your end, I receive a call at 2:45pm saying the crew was 18 minutes away but the estimate for the mattress of $69 did not include the work. I was told there was also a work fee now of $75 per person! That's $150 plus the original quote of $69!!!
I was told it was an oversight by the person offering the quote- that is definitely not just an oversight! I was then told that if I could remove the mattress from the home to outside, they would still only charge the original quote. How does that make any sense? I originally stated the mattress was inside the home and even confirmed it was on the second floor before I was offered the quote! This business needs to figure things out and not attempt to hustle over three times the original amount quoted on some claim of oversight. We accepted their offer and they immediately got to work on moving a large leather couch out of our basement through a narrow hallway and up a narrow staircase. I must say it was very arduous work which they never uttered a negative word about the many gotchas they encountered along the way. Professionalism shined through all the way. They got the couch through the front door and out of the house and into their truck in a reasonable amount of time considering all the obstacles they had to overcome. Do not use this company. I booked them to clear out my mother's home after she passed. Just a small 2 floor home with basement. Typical things. All kitchen stuff boxed, clothes in bags, etc., furniture standard stuff. When you call and book the appointment the girl tells me she would not give me labor rates, that the guys would give that to me when they arrived. I thought that very strange but..I went with it. She said typically a truck is between $450 - $1000 based on how much packing they needed to do. The 2 person crew showed up on time and after going through the house gave us a quote of $5200!!!! There are all kinds of fees nobody felt the need to tell me over the phone. They have a removal fee, environmental fee, mold fee, landfill fee, etc. Plus they do not necessarily pack the truck. It goes by weight. So if you have extremely heavy stuff they will hit their weight limit and need to come back with a second truck.
Who knows what that cost would be. Nothing disclosed over phone. So after negotiating back and forth (the guy getting more upset with us) he comes down to $2500! What!! How can you get from $5200 to $2500 in 30 minutes?? Why not start out with that first?? They kept saying "well we're here now and we are trying to help YOU out". Like they are doing me a big favor. And then after all of that they do not give paperwork to you before they start. Nothing to lock in price. It's all on his smartphone! Oh well that works?? Haha! At this point we did not trust them and sent them on their way. They were not happy! But that is their policy right??..They show up first (who knows why they don't see the property first), THEN give you a price and you either take it or leave it. We left it. Then we got a local guy to do it for $2000. I am located in Reading, PA. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Oh and one last thing. Like I said we are located in Reading, PA. (They came from Harrisburg, PA.) When we asked them why we were given a truckload price between $400-$1000 the guy actually said the girl on the phone is in Canada and was probably giving me "Canadian" prices???? Hahaha! Unbelievable bullshit. So why would you allow them to talk to people outside of Canada- if that is the truth but I doubt that is the truth either. I'd give them a -10 if I could.

They refused to do anything and if you tell them to take it off, they literally throw it off on the ground wherever. Because my friend got upset she just ended up paying it which I wish she had not. Total rip off. I tried to upload the picture but it wouldn't work. Don't use them.

Fraudulent charges. I used this service on July 3, 2025, in Philadelphia. It was a super hot day and the workers were lovely. (No complaints about the workers!) They worked hard and loaded up one full truck. Sadly, when I received my bill, I had been charged $1600 USD - - (what???) for a truckload and a half. We did not ever have an extra half a truck so I called the customer service number to solve this. They gave me a case# and said someone would call me back after the weekend. Nobody did.
I called again later that week and was told that someone would get back to me - - nobody did. I called again and was told that the local manager had tried to call but I didn't answer. - - Seriously? In 2025, you don't leave a voice message or send a text? He had not called me. - - In short, it took TEN CALLS over the course of 3 weeks to get the overcharge removed. When I finally spoke to the Philadelphia manager, he had all sorts of excuses and he spoke very loudly. Not pleasant and not very helpful. The workers were kind and polite - - but customer service and the eventual manager did not seem to care that I had been seriously overcharged!

They packed the truck poorly and then wanted to charge us for a full load when truck wasn't full. I have tried to upload a picture, but file is too large for website. I would like to share my deep dissatisfaction with a recent experience that was, quite frankly, one of the worst I’ve encountered with any service provider. When I booked the collection through your central reservations, I was quoted a rate between $175 and $500. However, not only did the truck arrive over four hours late, but I was ultimately charged $761—far exceeding the quoted maximum.
I immediately contacted Stott regarding this discrepancy, but he was dismissive, unhelpful, and stated that the central office had "made a mistake." His attitude was extremely rude and unprofessional, adding to an already frustrating situation. This experience has left me completely disillusioned with your company. I am requesting a formal explanation for the overcharge, as well as a refund for the difference between the quoted price and the amount charged.

Setting up the appointment was very easy. They were on time and respected my home. Only problem I had was how they priced the removal. Be prepared to spend a lot of money even for what you may think is a small amount of stuff. I needed a queen sized bed set removed. Frame, dresser/mirror, chest, and 2 night stands. Very basic stuff. They took pictures of everything and sent it to a supervisor then that's when I was quoted 900 dollars. I've worked with other companies that charged less for more. Rather than charge our quoted estimate ($150 with a return customer discount), they were trying to charge us $800 for a full truck. When we reached out to Got Junk, they assured us that a BC representative would contact us (Brendan, Patrick or Christine). Not a peep. I don’t recommend this company; the workers used intimidation and manipulation to get me to accept their services. The main representative spoke fast and kept asking me how much money I intended on spending when I told him the initial amounts he was quoting was more than I wanted to spend. Then he asked if I ever did “something like this” before, to imply that I didn’t understand the cost to clean up the hoarding situation I was dealing with. Then he asked me how much I planned on spending for the job and I foolishly told him (hindsight is always 20/20). However, I initially declined the 1st time and he left. I continued working so I didn’t realize he had only gone to his truck but didn’t leave. Then, maybe 5-7 minutes later, he came back with a lower price based on filling up one truckload.
The items were aluminum cans. I finally agreed, but they only got less than a fourth of the job done. Then, during the time they were working they got another call so they finished quickly in order to leave, and left what they were working as is. They did not even tidy up around the area. Then, the lead representative, tells me I will receive two emails, the receipt and another one. I told him I saw the receipt but the second email did not appear. When it did pop up in my inbox, he asked me to click on it and then said “excuse me for reaching“. He continued talking, stood next to me while reaching in to click a button on my phone. It was a feedback survey. He clicked on the “10” and then told me to click done. The process was done before I knew what he was doing! He was talking rapidly the entire time.
After the fact, I told him that I just realized that was a feedback survey and I told him that I was supposed to give the rating, not him. He then said he had been doing that for his customers for the past 4 years and they never complained. Then he said “didn’t you like our services?” I told him I don’t like being “manipulated and strong armed”. Also, later when I looked at my receipt it incorrectly itemized as E-waste, quantity 2; however, it was about 100 lbs of aluminum cans.
Overall, I was pressured and taken advantage of. Later, few workers came in and bagged up the cans in the entire yard for less than the amount I was charged from 1-800-GOT-TRASH, and I wasn’t spoken to like an aggressive salesman in a car dealership. This was a costly learning experience for me, but I have learned to stand my ground and trust my initial instinct if I don’t feel good about what I am hearing from a potential service provider. However, I suggest you heed my warning without paying a high price for this life lesson. :-)

Despite this, the team showed up before 3:00 PM, without warning, while both my husband and I were at work. This completely defeats the purpose of selecting a later time — I chose that window because I work during the day and wanted to be present for the appointment. I did receive a missed call from an unknown number, but no clear communication was made about changing the scheduled time. The pricing is not transparent and is determined by the driver's understanding. I believed that I was overcharged after the driver stood up/arranged several items in the truck's cubed cargo space. This adjustment moved the price from the agreed 288.00 to exceeding 400.00. The pricing is determined by a formula based on cubed volume. This driver didn't understand the formula when I questioned his pricing and provided no feedback when asked about the absence of a measuring instrument to calculate the volume.
I also questioned, not knowing there was a price-based policy, and spoke to the business representative, who mentioned nothing about a price or fee. I have photos, but I don't have a place to post them yet. Upon voicing my grievance, a series of multiple phone calls ensued, requesting that I leave a voicemail. Upon connecting with a person, they would take your complaint and forward you to another person's number to leave a voicemail.

But then they added hauling fee and labor fee as well which ended up being double the price (No mention of this in there ad at all). After I complained, they lowered the price back down to 1/2 a truck load, hmmm, playing with the price seems all too easy for them. After they left I noticed that the driver not only added the itemized bill incorrectly but he also tacked on a tip, who does that???
When my father got his credit card statement they had added on more money. The charges on credit card got disputed and fixed with no help from them. When I called them out on it and explained what happens when you steal money, they said they would talk to the driver and get back to me about it. They never did, of course. Buyer be Ware. I called 1800gotjunk and was given an estimate over the phone, after I listed the items to be taken away, of $250 - $495. When the two men arrived they told me the cost to haul away my stuff would be $1000 and there would be an additional charge of #350 per man. When I questioned him he immediately took of one of the $350 charges, then when I questioned him again, he took off the other $350 charge, which left $1000 (more than double the highest estimate given).
I called customer service and was told the head of the NY franchise would call me back in two minutes and the customer service rep would ball me back no later than Monday. I did call back after an hour and was again told the NY franchise would call back in two minutes. Needless to say, the NY franchise never called me. We were told that Got Junk has a piano removal service. We reached out and made an appointment for 10/22/2024 an on-site estimate and, if we liked what we heard, they could take it that day. We made an appointment and about 30 minutes before the appointment a young man called us and said her would be there soon. We asked, “are you alone”. He said yes. We expressed grave concerns about one man handling a 400 plus pound spinet piano.
When he arrived, he said I heard your concern and brought a partner. A woman, maybe five feet tall and a hundred pounds arrived with him. He gave us an estimate of $454 and a $75 “service fee”. We said okay but we do not want any damage to our home (flawless tongue and groove oak flooring, brick porch and stairway) or the piano (a beautiful cherry wood Baldwin Acro-sonic spinet). He said the piano was beautiful and there would be no damage to it, or to our home. They said all the right things.
All they had was a hand truck. They struggled, I mean STRUGGLED, there were more than a few scary moments. The man was hit in the head by the piano and knocked off his glasses. If he were knocked unconscious we'd had a 911 situation on our hands and a piano in pieces on our walkway. Long story short, they damaged the floor and destroyed the piano. Plus, I had to help lift a couple of times. I am a 72 year old man who has had back surgery and thought I was paying for a professional piano moving service. They barely survived getting the piano into their truck. It took about an hour. Then they asked for a tip!
So the one hour of activity, damaging my house and destroying the piano, cost me $581! We asked to have a manager call us. No call back 24 hours plus later.DO NOT use “Got Junk “ Richmond VA for piano moving service! Update, someone called yesterday but we were in the car and about to go into an appointment. The person agreed but again 24 hours later no call back.

The first appointment was canceled by the company and rebooked for the following day. The guys who work for the company were awesome - professional, courteous and friendly - and they were the only positive thing I can say about this. HOWEVER, because we were in a hurry, we were forced to use 800-got-junk and what a mistake! We had them take one couch, one small desk top (only the top) and two small kitchen chairs. We had put everything outside on the porch - the two guys had to go down 4 stairs and carry the furniture may 20 feet. And the price? With tip (which in itself is awkward - they stand over you and watch that screen) it was about $531!!!! I like the guys very much but a $48 tip for 15 minutes work?
And all the talk about recycling? Well all we were told was that they would have to cut about the couch and that's why it was so expensive. I asked about recycling but all he talked about was cutting things up and taking it to the dump. Nothing was dump-ready, everything could have been recycled. So disappointed. We had gotten other estimates which varied from $285 to $350 but they were available one day later than we needed to be out of the apartment, so we took a chance with 800. Big mistake and I would never recommend them or use them again. The fact that you can't get an estimate beforehand is ridiculous - had we known it was in the $500 range, NEVER would we have used them. So don't go by their website with "suggested" prices, they aren't even close. The real name is more like: 800-ripped-off.

I called today and arranged for a pickup. They came as promised, earlier than expected. The 2 guys were very pleasant and moved the items out very quickly. That part of the service was great. I asked about recycling some items and was told that they go to the Salvation Army first and see if they can use anything. I thought that was great but what I didn't expect was the way they loaded the truck, which was already half full from somewhere else. They pushed that down one side (front to back) and crammed my stuff, by taking a hammer and breaking and destroying all the furniture, into the other side (front to back). Certainly not the way it is portrayed in their video. I was also charged $785.83 for half a truckload which I think was excessive.
So much for recycling. There were items that could have been of some use to someone. They did give me a worst case scenario before they started which I agreed to, but I did not know at that time that the truck was already half full. While one guy was pulling my stuff out, the other was in the truck rearranging his earlier pickup!! You would expect that the truck as portrayed in your video would arrive empty and easier to judge the volume and charge accordingly. I asked what would have happened if my storage unit had been completely full from top to bottom? They said once the truck was full, they would go and dump the load and return. Good job that did not happen - totally unacceptable. While I am glad to see my storage unit empty, however, I am sorry to say that the service no way resembled their video.

Company was made aware that I was in a storage unit that had to be moved that day by 5:30pm so I questioned them repeatedly on that quote to make sure it was at least close to what I’d pay because I would have no choice when they showed up because at that point it would be too late to get anyone else. This was also stressed repeatedly to them which I feel they used to their advantage. Didn’t even show up until after 5pm, which was not the time frame we were given. But when they showed up, was told it would be $509.00. I of course got upset and informed the movers of the price I was quoted and was then told “they do that all the time” by the movers. NEVER AGAIN!!! I booked 1-800-GOT-JUNK? to come in to remove some items from our basement, in preparation for renovations. I used them specifically because their website claimed that they donate/repurposed items that are in good condition. We had a few items that were definitely in better than "good" condition, but sadly we had no way of getting the items to a donation location. Among the items was a solid wood futon that was used maybe a dozen times (only slept on once), a dining room table that had just been refinished in 2023, and a sofa that we cleaned specifically so that it could be donated. All of these items were in great condition (and from a smoke free home) until these clowns showed up.
Instead of taking stuff apart (which I offered to do), and before I could say anything, they turned my futon and dining room table into kindling by stomping on them. They threw the sofa upside down into the filthy truck, so you know that wasn't being donated, not to mention the space under the sofa could have been used to take the few items that they had to leave behind for lack of space. I managed to rescue a few boxes so that I could donate them.
In addition to this, they took a box clearly marked as containing a full set of dishes and chucked it at the truck, only they missed the truck, and the dishes broke in the driveway. To make matters worse they left most of the broken glass in the driveway. Unfortunately, it wasn't until my Neighbour had told me what had happened that I knew the glass was from them, so I just cleaned it up without taking pictures. For this they charged me $740. I was in a bit of shock by what I had witnessed, and I just wanted these people to leave, so I did pay deciding to just deal with the company directly...for all the good that did.
I had used this company in Brockville to help get stuff out of my father's apartment after he passed away. I used them for the same reason, that they claimed to donate items. The team was amazing, they removed a sofa bed, 2 large recliners, coffee and end tables, a shelving unit, 2 nightstands and 17 boxes...far more than the team took from my place in Kingston. In Brockville, I was only charged $350 for a quarter of a truck that was packed neatly. In Kingston, I was charged $780 to have stuff smashed to pieces and just thrown on the truck with no concern for maximizing space. While I now don't believe that anything was donated in Brockville either, that team at least had the decency to lie to me and not trash the stuff right in front of me.
I submitted a complaint via email to the company, and I posted on their social media page, they requested the details of the visit, but offered nothing in return. To this day I haven't heard back from them. The to add insult to injury, today I received a marketing email falsely promoting that they recycle or repurpose items. If you're looking for an expensive way to get rid of garbage, then this is the company for you. However, do not get fooled by their lie that items are repurposed or donated as they definitely are not.

I recently used 1800GotJunk. When I called to make the appointment, I told them what I had and expressly made sure I told them I had a spinet piano. Also, about 5 bookcases and a sofa bed and a side chair. He told me that would probably be a 1/2 truck pricing. Wow, was I surprised when the crew showed up. The first thing he told me was there is a separate cost of $500.00 for the piano. I explained to him, I was not told that on the phone when I made the appointment, his response was, "They never tell you that. We are a franchise, we do the pricing." I told him that the customer service should have told me about a separate cost, again he said, "They don't tell you that."
I had no choice but to accept the pricing because I was moving and could not take the piano with me. I checked online for local piano movers in my area. I looked at two services. They charge by the mile how far to move. I put in 15 miles and got a cost of $250.00 from one and the other was $175.00. All in all, I paid #1000.00 for everything. You tell me a 1/2 truck space is $500.00 and the piano at $500.00 as a separate cost is reasonable? What a rip-off. Their website and video says "no hidden fees," I object to that. Those items mostly consisted of workout clothing Nike, Adidas, and Reebok, along with Christmas tree ornaments in its original packaging, a Christmas tree in the original box, 2 area rugs rolled, and taped, Dish sets including two 24-piece plate settings, 24 Crystal wine glasses, 24 water classes all in boxes, and wrapped for moving to prevent from any breakage, Other misc. glassware, a large Air fryer never used which the staff took home for their personal use.
I even had the employee who came to assist the first employee say to me "today feels like Christmas!" He thanked me for my things as the two of them removed my "junk." I told them both I was considering donating the items to the salvation army, or goodwill, but since it was the weekend, I went along with them instead. I told them both if I were in their shoes and wanted the items, I would take them. It would be a shame to throw out such wonderful things. The one complimented my cars in my garage and mentioned my living in a "well-to-do neighborhood."
I was charged $1,275.00 for this job. I asked the employee why it was so expensive, and he told me that “the price predicated on the weight of the truck..” I found it odd, but because the job was already happening, and I have never hired a "junk" removal service from my home before, nor was I familiar with pricing for this sort of job I went along with it. The entire job lasted around 15 minutes including taking my payment. After the job was completed, and payment was rendered, I was told I would receive an "itemized receipt" which I never received.
I did, however, receive a copy of my payment receipt that was sent to my mobile phone. The receipt has the company's name logo, street address, and phone number. However, there was not anything "itemized" or then it reads "1 x Quick Item." along with the total $1,275.00 dollars. Keep in mind what I mentioned regarding the staff taking items for themselves. Against my better judgment, I decided to give the company 1-800-GOT-JUNK another try assuming because it was even fewer items being removed from this job than in the last job, I would have better luck. Unfortunately, this would not be the case. I requested a job for hire on 8/31/2022. I received a confirmation email with the date, and time of the arrival, but no price quote.
In the description box for this job, I listed the 4 items being removed. 1 Queen pillowtop mattress, 1 queen box spring, 2 brand new the package twin box springs, and that was it. I was sure it would not cost as much as the other job, but I was wrong. The driver showed up a little late, but I did not mind being I was already home for the day. The driver quoted me $ 575.00 dollars to remove those 4 items! Did I ask why? He said it was because it would be "$ 150.00 dollars for each box spring, and a separate price altogether for the mattress." Keep in mind 2 twin box springs, 1 queen box spring, and 1 mattress!
At this point, I had it, and asked the driver to leave my home, and expressed how ridiculously expensive it was. I also asked did the price has to do with the weighing of the truck like the previous job, and he looked puzzled, and said "no sir, it goes by each item." He even said he thought it was expensive too, which is odd. As he was leaving, he asked, "what kind of price are you willing to spend?"
At that point in time, I knew I was being taken advantage of, and asked him to leave. A few minutes later the same driver rang my doorbell and said, "my boss wants to work something out with you." I declined, and he left. Because this was egregious and needed to be reported I called the 1-800-GOT-JUNK customer service hotline to express my grievance about both ordeals! There was an older gentleman with a British accent answered the phone, and I explained the two scenarios, and how upset I was about them.
I will admit my voice was elevated during the beginning of the call, but he was calm and waited patiently for me to finish. He asked if he could help him with writing up a complaint, and I agreed. I was surprised at how nice he was considering what was happening at that time. He took the notes down and explained to me that someone from Corporate would return my call within 24 hours. I was surprised to receive a phone call 25 minutes later. The supervisor named Mr. Noah ** called to follow up on my grievance, and I explained the scenario all over again which was not making the matter any better.
Mr. ** apologized for each incident, and attempted to explain to me the "company policies" For the previous job he asked, "did you inspect the truck before the driver left?" I told Mr. ** I was unaware I was supposed to inspect anything, nor did his employee offer it, Mr. ** said “it is company policy to have the customer inspect the truck before leaving.” “Mr. ** seemed confused about which drivers were on the job that day which also was strange. For this job he also said that the employee was “new,” which my thought was regardless of the employee's tenure on the job he should be aware, and well versed with the “companies' policy.” Mr. ** did say he would have to do some “coaching and would do some firing if necessary.” Insisting “that this was not what the company stood for.”
I also said I was upset about the $1,275.00 dollars that were taken from me on the 6th of August! I explained I had never heard of a company charging items being removed by the weight of the truck, and he said, "we charge by the column." Which infuriated me even more since that hired job was literally a few items I was going to donate, but since it was the weekend, I decided to go with them. I then expressed my outrage over the quote given to me that day and gave him the breakdown in price that his employee quoted me. Mr. ** apologized, and said he wanted to "fix this." He also mentioned to me that he was the supervisor on the phone of the driver I asked to leave my home.
I cannot express how upset I was hearing this since his phone call was about figuring out "what happened" during that interaction with me, and his employee. I expressed how I was being robbed without a gun, and I was filing a report on "consumer affairs," "yelp," and the company's webpage. In the middle of that conversation, I mentioned to Mr. ** that I never received that "itemized" receipt, which he said he would "look for." and email me. At this point, I am exhausted, and after he offered to have one of his drivers come back out to my home, I agreed but requested to not have the same gentlemen who were here prior and expressed my lack of trust in his company being there different "company policies" for each employee. I told Mr. ** I would email him pictures of the 4 items being removed from my home which I was quoted $ 575.00 dollars to show how insane it was to justify the quote I received which I did.
Twenty minutes went by, and Mr. **'s email with the "itemized list" came. Here is what the exact "itemized list" had on it. "Job Details." "Product," "1/2 load." "Quantity," "1.00." "Descritption." "Other decorations," "Lots of misc hh items, etc.," "Price" "$ 528.00 dollars." Second "itemized list" "full laod," "Quantity," "1.00," "Description," "Household junk from garage," "$747.00." The reason I quoted each item separately is that prior to me asking for my "itemized receipt" I had no idea what was going to be on it to justify $1,275.00 dollars. I also want to point out that this "itemized list receipt" was generated on 8/31/2022 the day of the second job I requested. If you are following this the receipt states, "Job ID ** Receipt date 08/31/2022," "Service date 08/072022."
This receipt told me there was never a generated "itemized receipt" in the first place, and this was a final effort to "fix it." This, however, makes it worse and suggests to me that the practices, or "company policies," should be investigated more closely so that the policy is the same for each customer, not creating one on the fly. I have asked Mr. ** to do a follow-up, which I have not heard from yet. I find this entire ordeal to be toxic, and hope someone reaches out to me for a resolution.

Two men arrived with a full truck load. They base your price on a guestimate of how much your items will fill the truck. They get you to agree to the price and if your load is less than their estimate, they do not reduce the price. It feels as if you are scammed. The truck should arrive empty and there should be a formal process for measuring load. I do not recommend this company as there are other businesses with better prices and morally sound.

I set up an appointment and two gentlemen came out and quoted me a price for the junk I had. They said 700.00. I then scheduled an appointment. The workers showed up looked at my junk and said it would take one and a half truckload, I said just take what you can. I am not paying for another truck. Going outside to see the truck it was more than half full. Not neat full just piled in. They picked up what they could and then another truck showed up, this one was also more than half full. They finished tossing the junk in and never entered the basement were I had more trash to get rid of, which they new about. I was shocked how they just threw the junk in the truck. There was no kind of organization on loading the truck. Now I am still left with trash in the basement. I am very disappointed in this service. The two trucks they sent would be equal to one half of the load I had.

I received a couple of phone calls from Kay telling me they'd be delayed. My appointment was for 1 pm and they arrived closer to 2:30. That really wasn't a big deal. I think they were surprised how little "junk" I had was as I had it all pushed into the kitchen near the door of my apartment to make it easier for them. Kay went over basic procedures with me and then started to quote $2 hundred.... and Brandon ** interrupted and said he thought it would take 3/8 of the space. So Kay increased the price to $368.
I was a bit surprised there was no discussion or double checking on this as I am 68 single female recovering from both a stroke and polymyalgia rheumatica. I can no longer work and live off of $1,140 a month Social Security. I don't own my home. But I was so exhausted and in pain that I let it go and paid. I think they were in and out in half an hour. I gave them drinks as it was hot out as they left. So it was quick, the team was professional and it's done. I just wish Brandon had kept his mouth shut or they at least double checked the measurement to save me some money!

I paid with a credit card processed on their tablet and received an email receipt. Quick, easy, and the best part - the junk is gone!

Bought a new sofa and love seat from Rooms to Go but, that is another nightmare. Had to remove old sectional. We were quoted an amount on phone and specifically asked if she was sure, and women said she is looking at the information for a 3-piece sectional in her book. Well, they show up and charge us $150 more. Not sure if they like to take advantage of senior citizens or just use bait and switch as their business premise. I did call and complained. I got the difference back. My husband wants to report them to the BBB.

I booked 1-800-Got-Junk with ‘Aaron’ from Reading, PA. He assured me that I would get a quote for the job after they assessed it and I was under no obligation to use them. They were 45 minutes late because of long lines at the dump from a previous job. Ok-they notified me so no problem. When they arrived I showed them what needed to be done, which I had already specified when I booked them. The job included removing old mattresses from my basement. They gave me a quote to which I agreed. They went to get the first mattress and within 5 min. they came right back and started to pack up and leave. Aaron pulled out his phone and told me they could not complete the job because of bed bugs, to which he showed me a picture of bed bugs on a white mattress. He told me they couldn’t come back without a certificate of extermination. They fairly ran to their truck and left.
As I nervously called my exterminating company, I realized there were no white mattresses in my basement. I spoke to my exterminating company anyway and they agreed to come out and begin Treatments. There was to be a considerable amount of prep work before they could come out. It was hours of work-and I had just had two major surgeries. When the exterminator came, he did a very thorough Inspection, and concluded that I did NOT have bed bugs. The picture Aaron showed me must have been from the internet, and it provided an excuse for his buddy and him to not do the job. Their ‘lie’ caused me three days of prep work, considerable anxiety, and a $100.00 inspection fee.

WARNING- DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! First, nobody called me at or before my scheduled time, I had to reach out to them and then finally got a call 45 mins after my scheduled time...just to tell me they weren't going to be there for another 45 mins. This would have been fine if I was at my home or known ahead of time but I was waiting at my storage unit. To make things better, at the end of my service I was told that their "card system was down" and I needed to go to an ATM and get cash out to pay them (which I found out later was a lie). An hour later I got an emailed receipt for $225 less than what I had actually paid in cash. Called the main number to let them know, they told me it was probably an "accounting error" and would let the franchise know, two more hours later after an "investigation" they told me the two people on my job had lied about me needing to give them cash to try and steal the extra money.
After countless phone calls, confusion and irritation on what was happening, not to mention the inconvenience of having to drive to an atm and paying an ATM fee to take out cash, the company told me they would only returning the tip money I had given the workers. How am I suppose to know I actually got charged the correct amount through paying with cash? No one else was there. Not to mention for putting me through all this all you're going to do is give me the tip money back? Forget it, I hope nobody else ever has to go through this, BUYER BEWARE with this company, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

About a month and a half ago I had them come get a refrigerator from my kitchen, left a hammer and screwdriver with the item to remove my door In case it did not fit out. My brother was home to show them everything but is in a wheelchair and could not help. A man named Herman called me in the way I explained that I had left it in case he needed to remove my door. After the job is over they call me from outside to take my payment over the phone, I specifically ask at that time if they had to remove my door. Herman then tells me he did not have to remove my door and then everything went well; I pay the $123 and change with my card over the phone and expect that to be the end. When I get home I find that they did not only dent my door but gouged my $400 and change (more with installation) door in multiple areas. I called right then and there and I’m told I’ll hear back within 24 hours.
Three days go by and I callback, I’m told they’re sorry. They will send a message to Herman who is apparently the manager and have him contact me. Another week and a half goes by I have heard nothing but I received an email from a woman who tells me the case is going to be closed because no one has heard from me. I reply to the email that no one has contacted me as my phone does not have a spam blocker and I answer every call due to my business. And then call the woman explain everything to her surprise Herman said he contacted me multiple times and I did not respond to him.
Surprisingly he contacted me in the morning, but then proceeded to tell me that I was wrong, told me that the screwdriver and hammer I left was not enough to remove a door, got mad during the phone call when I told him that I have pictures and I want it replaced or I want the money to pay for the door and installation, proceeded to try to say that my brother who is in a wheelchair told him he could not remove the door, and then hung up on me. I called back to one 800 got junk flipping out on the way he handled things and then I received a text message from him asking me for the door price and what it would take to fix it. I send all the information back picture of the door with the price tell him it needs to be installed as well he says OK somebody will come measure the door and get back to me.
No one came, so I text him again asking him when they’re supposed to show up he tells me they already came and no one was home, mind you my brother who’s in a wheelchair never leaves because we don’t have a wheelchair ramp he is always home!!! I explain that is not even possible as somebody is always at my house and I have two very large trained watchdogs who will alert the home to anybody there especially that close to the door. I then get a phone call later that night that somebody is on their way to come take a look at my door. I told them I would like them to leave the measurements they find with my brother and to let me know what’s going on the gentleman says OK leaves I have the measurements here when I get home and I am expecting a call to let me know when it would be done.
Nothing came for about a month, so I texted Herman and asked him for an update. He ignored the text. I called the main number at the beginning of this week and was told that the franchise did not answer but somebody will answer me by Wednesday at the latest.. It is now Friday, trying to sell my home and explain that I have a banged up ding the door because of idiots is not the easiest. I have to contact the comptroller as well as an attorney to be able to get this fixed fast enough that I can sell this house, and not be charged way more than needed for the door replacement! If I can give them zero stars or negative I totally would, not just for the original experience, but for every proceeding experience after that. This place is absolutely the worst company I’ve ever done business with!

I'm mad at myself for trying them twice; do yourself a BIG favor- DON'T. I called them at the end of May for what I THOUGHT was a simple task- to clean out a partially filled 10' x 15' storage space at istorage located on 7600 Queen St in Wyncote PA. I explained that I'm handicapped (a bilateral leg amputee), & I needed them to take away the rest of the items left over from my father's house after his sudden passing 2 years ago. The representative explained the process very well; a crew of movers would contact me inside of a 2 hour window at a phone number I provided, meet me at the pre-defined address, look at my job, quote me a price based on their observations, and haul everything away. Simple & straightforward, correct? NO, the process was NOT simple or straightforward at ALL.
That Sunday at the end of May was HOT. Due to my many health issues, I don't do well in the heat (that is my issue & NOT their fault BTW); what I DO blame them for is the repeated LIE that someone is "on their way" & "the team will call" for 2 hours while I waited in the heat. When they DID call after my shouting at the rep on the phone, they informed me that they had 3 larger, more important jobs ahead of mine, AND maybe they could squeeze me in the next day! I angrily cancelled that pickup. In addition I was charged an extra month at the istorage facility due to 1 800 GOT JUNK's shenanigans.
Despite my better judgement I actually tried the service again- today. Unfortunately the same thing JUST happened AGAIN. The difference being I have a reliable friend with a truck as a backup plan in place. 1 800 GOT JUNK clearly places the importance of its jobs by their size & prospective customer cost instead of order of receipt. If they made that fact clear at the outset BEFORE people like me believe the implied LIE that once they schedule you they will try to honor the scheduled time promised at the initial call, then all bets would be off & all complaints would be SILENCED. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID. TWICE. Find another service.

They did not arrive until 2:15 pm. We were told important documents would be sifted out or if taken brought back. This was not true. Items were taken that should not have been. On the second day only one person came around 10:30, although a “full crew” was promised. After two and a half hours a second person came. After another hour both left to empty truck and get lunch. At 5:00 pm I called to hear where they were. I said I needed to leave in 20 minutes. One man showed up after I left. I do not recommend this crew in West Michigan.
