The two men who removed my sofa and a rug were great. Efficient and friendly.
1. They show up and get all set up to do the work, THEN they give you a quote. I may have declined, but the truck had been backed up and they were ready to go. I’m surprised they work this way.
2. I feel that it’s very expensive, so I didn’t give a very good tip and now I feel bad. ):
This is the second time I used this company. They are wonderful and professional people. They call when they are coming. They are on time. They help to clean, and move. I had Vic and Dre this time. 5 out of 5 stars.

I received a couple of phone calls from Kay telling me they'd be delayed. My appointment was for 1 pm and they arrived closer to 2:30. That really wasn't a big deal. I think they were surprised how little "junk" I had was as I had it all pushed into the kitchen near the door of my apartment to make it easier for them. Kay went over basic procedures with me and then started to quote $2 hundred.... and Brandon ** interrupted and said he thought it would take 3/8 of the space. So Kay increased the price to $368.
I was a bit surprised there was no discussion or double checking on this as I am 68 single female recovering from both a stroke and polymyalgia rheumatica. I can no longer work and live off of $1,140 a month Social Security. I don't own my home. But I was so exhausted and in pain that I let it go and paid. I think they were in and out in half an hour. I gave them drinks as it was hot out as they left. So it was quick, the team was professional and it's done. I just wish Brandon had kept his mouth shut or they at least double checked the measurement to save me some money!
Nathan and Owen just removed leftover cement bags, and a huge construction pipe from my place in the Rochester/Hilton area. Wow, fast, efficient, professional service. I will definitely be calling their service again. The appointment was easy to arrange, they showed up early!, and the junk was gone within 10 minutes. I paid with a credit card processed on their tablet and received an email receipt. Quick, easy, and the best part - the junk is gone!
Except for the big guy that did the heavy load of 1 combo Kenmore wash-dryer alone down 1 floor level and up to the truck, here it is:
2-Minutes later, a deceiving dumb excuse: 'it's a single appliance, promo don't apply'. There is nothing on their details: 'Valid for same day bookings only. No cash value. Cannot be combined with any other promotion' It was same day (1 hrs later) booking. Where it says it can't be applied to 1 single appliance?
3-I didn't have cash, so I asked in the chat if there was any way to tip the guy for hard work: 'App doesn't have option.'
I called 1-800-got-junk to hire for a job on 08/06/2022. I was given a confirmation email with the specific date and time the driver would arrive. I was told I would receive a phone call for a price quote but was never quoted a price prior to the driver arriving at my home. The first driver showed up on that day and began the job. Shortly after there was another driver in a different truck to assist. I asked why they needed two trucks, for such a small number of items, and was told it was "standard." To put this job into perspective, I will list the items I had removed from my home.
I want to prefix the "junk" was a total of 6 large bags of gently used clothes, and sneakers, some of which were never worn. Those items mostly consisted of workout clothing Nike, Adidas, and Reebok, along with Christmas tree ornaments in its original packaging, a Christmas tree in the original box, 2 area rugs rolled, and taped, Dish sets including two 24-piece plate settings, 24 Crystal wine glasses, 24 water classes all in boxes, and wrapped for moving to prevent from any breakage, Other misc. glassware, a large Air fryer never used which the staff took home for their personal use.
I even had the employee who came to assist the first employee say to me "today feels like Christmas!" He thanked me for my things as the two of them removed my "junk." I told them both I was considering donating the items to the salvation army, or goodwill, but since it was the weekend, I went along with them instead. I told them both if I were in their shoes and wanted the items, I would take them. It would be a shame to throw out such wonderful things. The one complimented my cars in my garage and mentioned my living in a "well-to-do neighborhood."
I was charged $1,275.00 for this job. I asked the employee why it was so expensive, and he told me that “the price predicated on the weight of the truck..” I found it odd, but because the job was already happening, and I have never hired a "junk" removal service from my home before, nor was I familiar with pricing for this sort of job I went along with it. The entire job lasted around 15 minutes including taking my payment. After the job was completed, and payment was rendered, I was told I would receive an "itemized receipt" which I never received.
I did, however, receive a copy of my payment receipt that was sent to my mobile phone. The receipt has the company's name logo, street address, and phone number. However, there was not anything "itemized" or then it reads "1 x Quick Item." along with the total $1,275.00 dollars. Keep in mind what I mentioned regarding the staff taking items for themselves. Against my better judgment, I decided to give the company 1-800-GOT-JUNK another try assuming because it was even fewer items being removed from this job than in the last job, I would have better luck. Unfortunately, this would not be the case. I requested a job for hire on 8/31/2022. I received a confirmation email with the date, and time of the arrival, but no price quote.
In the description box for this job, I listed the 4 items being removed. 1 Queen pillowtop mattress, 1 queen box spring, 2 brand new the package twin box springs, and that was it. I was sure it would not cost as much as the other job, but I was wrong. The driver showed up a little late, but I did not mind being I was already home for the day. The driver quoted me $ 575.00 dollars to remove those 4 items! Did I ask why? He said it was because it would be "$ 150.00 dollars for each box spring, and a separate price altogether for the mattress." Keep in mind 2 twin box springs, 1 queen box spring, and 1 mattress!
At this point, I had it, and asked the driver to leave my home, and expressed how ridiculously expensive it was. I also asked did the price has to do with the weighing of the truck like the previous job, and he looked puzzled, and said "no sir, it goes by each item." He even said he thought it was expensive too, which is odd. As he was leaving, he asked, "what kind of price are you willing to spend?"
At that point in time, I knew I was being taken advantage of, and asked him to leave. A few minutes later the same driver rang my doorbell and said, "my boss wants to work something out with you." I declined, and he left. Because this was egregious and needed to be reported I called the 1-800-GOT-JUNK customer service hotline to express my grievance about both ordeals! There was an older gentleman with a British accent answered the phone, and I explained the two scenarios, and how upset I was about them.
I will admit my voice was elevated during the beginning of the call, but he was calm and waited patiently for me to finish. He asked if he could help him with writing up a complaint, and I agreed. I was surprised at how nice he was considering what was happening at that time. He took the notes down and explained to me that someone from Corporate would return my call within 24 hours. I was surprised to receive a phone call 25 minutes later. The supervisor named Mr. Noah ** called to follow up on my grievance, and I explained the scenario all over again which was not making the matter any better.
Mr. ** apologized for each incident, and attempted to explain to me the "company policies" For the previous job he asked, "did you inspect the truck before the driver left?" I told Mr. ** I was unaware I was supposed to inspect anything, nor did his employee offer it, Mr. ** said “it is company policy to have the customer inspect the truck before leaving.” “Mr. ** seemed confused about which drivers were on the job that day which also was strange. For this job he also said that the employee was “new,” which my thought was regardless of the employee's tenure on the job he should be aware, and well versed with the “companies' policy.” Mr. ** did say he would have to do some “coaching and would do some firing if necessary.” Insisting “that this was not what the company stood for.”
I also said I was upset about the $1,275.00 dollars that were taken from me on the 6th of August! I explained I had never heard of a company charging items being removed by the weight of the truck, and he said, "we charge by the column." Which infuriated me even more since that hired job was literally a few items I was going to donate, but since it was the weekend, I decided to go with them. I then expressed my outrage over the quote given to me that day and gave him the breakdown in price that his employee quoted me. Mr. ** apologized, and said he wanted to "fix this." He also mentioned to me that he was the supervisor on the phone of the driver I asked to leave my home.
I cannot express how upset I was hearing this since his phone call was about figuring out "what happened" during that interaction with me, and his employee. I expressed how I was being robbed without a gun, and I was filing a report on "consumer affairs," "yelp," and the company's webpage. In the middle of that conversation, I mentioned to Mr. ** that I never received that "itemized" receipt, which he said he would "look for." and email me. At this point, I am exhausted, and after he offered to have one of his drivers come back out to my home, I agreed but requested to not have the same gentlemen who were here prior and expressed my lack of trust in his company being there different "company policies" for each employee. I told Mr. ** I would email him pictures of the 4 items being removed from my home which I was quoted $ 575.00 dollars to show how insane it was to justify the quote I received which I did.
Twenty minutes went by, and Mr. **'s email with the "itemized list" came. Here is what the exact "itemized list" had on it. "Job Details." "Product," "1/2 load." "Quantity," "1.00." "Descritption." "Other decorations," "Lots of misc hh items, etc.," "Price" "$ 528.00 dollars." Second "itemized list" "full laod," "Quantity," "1.00," "Description," "Household junk from garage," "$747.00." The reason I quoted each item separately is that prior to me asking for my "itemized receipt" I had no idea what was going to be on it to justify $1,275.00 dollars. I also want to point out that this "itemized list receipt" was generated on 8/31/2022 the day of the second job I requested. If you are following this the receipt states, "Job ID ** Receipt date 08/31/2022," "Service date 08/072022."
This receipt told me there was never a generated "itemized receipt" in the first place, and this was a final effort to "fix it." This, however, makes it worse and suggests to me that the practices, or "company policies," should be investigated more closely so that the policy is the same for each customer, not creating one on the fly. I have asked Mr. ** to do a follow-up, which I have not heard from yet. I find this entire ordeal to be toxic, and hope someone reaches out to me for a resolution.
Two men arrived with a full truck load. They base your price on a guestimate of how much your items will fill the truck. They get you to agree to the price and if your load is less than their estimate, they do not reduce the price. It feels as if you are scammed. The truck should arrive empty and there should be a formal process for measuring load. I do not recommend this company as there are other businesses with better prices and morally sound.
I set up an appointment and two gentlemen came out and quoted me a price for the junk I had. They said 700.00. I then scheduled an appointment. The workers showed up looked at my junk and said it would take one and a half truckload, I said just take what you can. I am not paying for another truck. Going outside to see the truck it was more than half full. Not neat full just piled in. They picked up what they could and then another truck showed up, this one was also more than half full. They finished tossing the junk in and never entered the basement were I had more trash to get rid of, which they new about. I was shocked how they just threw the junk in the truck. There was no kind of organization on loading the truck. Now I am still left with trash in the basement. I am very disappointed in this service. The two trucks they sent would be equal to one half of the load I had.
They didn’t honor a promo sent in their advertising emails. Additionally they broke up the item in my driveway and left behind a mess including multiple screws. Customer service complaint yielded no resolution for the issues. I will never use them again.
Bought a new sofa and love seat from Rooms to Go but, that is another nightmare. Had to remove old sectional. We were quoted an amount on phone and specifically asked if she was sure, and women said she is looking at the information for a 3-piece sectional in her book. Well, they show up and charge us $150 more. Not sure if they like to take advantage of senior citizens or just use bait and switch as their business premise. I did call and complained. I got the difference back. My husband wants to report them to the BBB.
