    This time around was not the same good experience I've had in the past. They seem to cancel my account without me knowing it. When I didn't hear from them I called them. That's how I found out my work order was canceled. Took some time for them to find me a contractor. This was the longest I ever had to wait to receive communication from Choice. The work was done by RT Plumbing and I am satisfied with the finished product.

    My Ac unit stopped getting cold while my wife and I were out for a few hours. I called Choice about 5pm. About an hour later the company that was assigned to do the repair called me to set up an appointment the next morning 8-12 am. They were there and found the problem in no time. It needed a part to place on order but the technician was able to have my system running until the part will arrives.     The garbage disposal and both kitchen sinks were clogged and the guest bathroom tub was draining very slowly. These were all issues that needed to be fixed right away. So, I called Choice Home Warranty, my home warranty company. Almost immediately after submitting my claim, I received a call from Kennedy Plumbing, a local plumbing company.     I filed a claim at 8:07 am on 8-1-17. I left a message at the repair service at 8:38 am. My call was returned at 9:34 am and I was advised by the repairman that he would be over when he was finished with the job he was on. He called at 12:20 am to say he was on his way. He arrived within 30 minutes and immediately knew the problem and completed the repair within 30 minutes. I would say that's excellent service.

    Please stay away at all cost, this company will try and find any reason not to pay for a claim. The company does not pay for ductless units and constantly kept telling me that I had a ductless unit. When the technician called and told them that I did not have a ductless unit and they told him and myself that they look it up and it is a ductless unit. A ductless unit does not come out the wall and have ducts through the wall so for them to say that this is bogus.

    How do you tell the technician who has the experience with HVAC that this is a ductless unit. You have no educational or work experience on units, they sit at a computer. They also send these people out to your home that are criminals. The person that came to my home stole my floater switch and he gave a diagnosis of something that is not covered so that I can pay him $250. When he faked try to fix it and it still didn't work and I refuse to pay him he said he had to order another part in which the company will pay for.

    The technician came into my home and never looked at my unit, made a diagnosis and then said they don't cover it. My question is how do you know the specifics of this company's contract and this is what he has been doing obviously to other clients. This company is a ripoff and I am contacting the Better Business Bureau. Stay clear of this unprofessional and rip off of a company, cross country warranty is a much better option. The company that installed my HVAC said that they are the worst warranty company and not to use them ever.

    I have a warranty for all three of my homes, and whenever I file a claim, Choice rejects it. The first claim I filed they rejected it and after I got an attorney, they decided to cover the refrigerator. Now I have a claim for a stove at another property and they rejected it and said it has rust and no maintenance services have been performed on the stove. I am so disappointed in their services. I will never use their services again.

    Went to dinner Sunday night 7/30/2017. Came home to find the house hot. I went out back to check the AC unit to find the fan not spinning, I shut it down called Choice Home Warranty who told me they would have a service person call me as soon as possible.     I am writing this review to make others aware about the issues I am having with Choice Home Warranty. It took more than 1 hour holding time after I filed my first claim about my air conditioning. Once I get to a real person, Choice Home Warranty refused to pay because they said the reason for my air conditioning broken down is lack of maintenance and the freon was low, hence they are not responsible for it. After calling them back for 13 times with more than one hour holding time for each time, they finally agreed to pay for a fraction of the cost which is $300 but the compressor costs $1500 and it costs 8 days delay. This is a SCAM… Don’t waste your money on Choice Home Warranty.

    My washer was doing something that had never done before. Making a loud noise as it spinned and not wringing out clothes in the spin cycle. I called CHW and within a couple of days someone was out here to take a look at it. He told me what was wrong with it and was calling it in to CHW. Two or 3 days after that he called me and asked if CHW had called me. Told him that if they had, they didn't leave any messages. Being that I work nights and sleep days I'm unavailable to answer calls during the day. I assumed they would leave me a message. He suggested I call them which I did. They informed me that they would be sending me a check but may take up to 30 days. It's been 24 days. So I'm giving them 6 more days to receive it. If not, I'll be calling them.     Microwave/oven repair - I loved the service and how easy it was to contact and make an appointment. The one area that I see that may need reviewing is the turnaround time. I place a call on 07/23/2017 and the company came on the next day. The problem that I have is that I am not sure of the tur around time frame. It has been a week and no one called. I called Choice Home Warranty and they stated that someone would come out Thursday. So it has been 10 days. Will update.     A year ago I cancelled my service with Choice Home Warranty. While searching for quotes from other companies Jimmy **, a sales representative at Choice responded to my request. After explaining my past negative experience with Choice he informed me that the company is under new management and issues that I experienced in the past have been corrected. He then went through a plan that would suit my needs. He asked if the credit card I used in the past can still be used now. Without pausing to get agreement on our acceptance of the plan or payment terms, he then went on to tell me about the different options I could have, i.e., a 3 year plan, a 5 year plan, senior discount, veterans discount, etc.

    When I informed him that I would only be interested in the basic plan and needed to know what my payment options were, i.e., monthly, quarterly, I was told by him that he had already charged my card for the yearly coverage without my authorization or permission. My wife and I were trying to inform him that this was not an agreed upon transaction, he loudly cut us off and would not take a breath long enough for us to get a word in edgewise. His high pressure tactics only reinforced my negative feeling towards Choice Home Warranty.

    I can only imagine how many people Jimmy ** has fast-talked into a sale. He then put me on hold for the Retention Dept. for a reversal of my credit card charges. After waiting on hold for over a half hour, the representative there, Regina, reversed the charges on my card (she was very professional and understanding). My suggestion for others looking for a reputable and honest company is to look elsewhere. Choice Home Warranty is a more interested in making a sale than listening to and servicing the customer's needs.

    We have now had 2 issues... one with plumbing and one with a water heater. Neither claim did they cover even though the technician that came to the house felt that they would be covered as stated to us "the needed repairs are for normal wear and tear."     Had an issue with my water heater. Called it in to CHW and then they send a technician and that guy didn't know what he was doing. He had to come out 3 days in a row and still did not fix it. As a matter of fact he made it dangerous. I called CHW and told them about my issues with the technician and the CSR told me not to worry she would take care of it. Sure enough a new company contacted me to let me know one of their technicians would contact me to set up an appointment. He called, let me know he would be at my house in 30 min and he was took him about 20 minutes to fix it.     I called in today, July 27, 2017 around 10:03am to ask questions about a quote and an email I received. The email was offering a discount and a month free. I wanted to know if they could lock me in the rate or if I could use a different home or cancel if I did not close on the house. I spoke to a Matthew who was aggressive about me starting a policy today. He was so aggressive that he would not allow me to complete my sentence so he cut me off as I was speaking.     Called to report my fridge that was making noise and a "beep" alarm that kept going off from inside the fridge on Sat. 07/22/2017. The Choice rep. called to take down my request. Promptly received a call from the repair co. assigned to address my issue with my fridge. The repair co. assigned my request advised me that on the following Monday 07/24/2017 they would come to my home to review the issue. The repair tech. arrived on Monday, assessed the issue, took down the information on the brand, model so that he could order the parts needed but advised me that first Choice had to approve the parts needed before he could come back to make the repair.

    Choice approved the parts needed and the tech. then called me to advise that Choice had approved the parts needed and the following day Tues, 07/25/2017 the tech. came back to my home and installed the parts needed into my fridge. And now the fridge is working with no issues. It took 4 days to get it fixed, caused an inconvenience because meantime the fridge was defrosting and water on the floor to wipe up (thank goodness we have ceramic tile in the kitchen, if not we would have had another issue).

    But considering that the fridge went on the blink over a week-end it was acceptable that it took time to get the parts repair approved by Choice Home Warranty and ordered by the tech. and installed as soon as he did. The tech was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He was neat and careful in not damaging my fridge. He cleaned up after the repair and told me if I had any problems with the fridge, to call Choice and if he was assigned my fridge again he would be happy to return and fix the fridge. I was very happy that the fridge was repairable. My three year contract with Choice expires in October 2017 but with the service I have experienced I am sure the contract will be renewed for another three years.

    Have had a warranty in effect for almost a year for a townhome we own in Flagstaff AZ. Townhouse is 5 years old. Last week the A/C failed to operate. Choice sent out their selected repair contractor who determined a freon test was needed to determine why the freon had leaked out. Choice does not cover a freon test ($180) although they will pay for repairs resulting from freon loss. Where is the logic in that? Even A/C repairman was scratching his head over that one.

    After test was done, which I approved, the contractor fixed the unit and restored the A/C for cooling. When contractor called Choice to announce repairs complete, Choice decided the repair was "outside their normal repair guidelines" and refused to authorize coverage and payment. Service contractor argued for 20 minutes with Choice that repair was legitimate. So I had to write a check for $460 to contractor. Along the way we heard from Choice that "We think this is a scam to receive money" and "The loss of freon was possibly stolen from your system". What? A completely worthless policy for 12 months. Buyer beware.

    This company is a Scam. I don't understand how they have such good reviews. I bought a 3 year deal with them and I have had to use them twice and neither time have they did what they was suppose to do. My fridge was a little over two years old and the condenser burnt out so instead of paying to fix it they sent me a 150 dollar check to buy a new fridge cause they said my fridge wasn't worth fixing. I had paid 2,700 for the fridge two years prior. Only fridge you can get for 150 dollars is dorm room fridge.

    This morning was the second time I had to use them. My AC in the house wasn't working right. They sent someone out to fix the AC and he did. After the work was complete he gave me a 500 dollar bill and told me the warranty place that sent him and authorized him to do the work wouldn't pay for it. So after a hour on hold I finally got through only to have a rude woman tell me that they don't pay for those types of fixes. I had a leak where the freon is stored and it leaked out. So why do I them? Basically all I did was pay someone 1,200 dollars to call a repair man.

    I have been with Choice Home Warranty since 2010, I pay around a lump sum for 6 year on my condo, and in addition with my main home yearly. At first, my 32 gallon water heater was not heating up. Technician sent out to check on it and told me that the unit was kind of old and he would only replace the upper element with the condition I had to sign the receipt that the Choice Home Warranty would not be responsible for my future issue on this Water Heater. It is kind of awkward with what the Choice Home Warranty advertised, but I agreed and it last only temporarily heat up to the point not too cold to take a shower for a few month and I ended up to replace new unit on my own.

    Most recently, my air conditioner was out on Sunday of 07-16-17; Tech sent to my home on Tuesday, and could not fixed it and on Wednesday, Choice Home Warranty called me and refused to cover due to rust and corrosion. The Three J A/C service tech told me the cost of replacing the condensing coil about $5200. I notice that, during my over 6 years under this Choice Home Warranty; every time, my AC or heater out with costly repair, I always get deny on the costly parts and end up pay 300 or more out of my pocket.

    In addition, most of my friends at work told me that Home Warranty is kind of scam and they never trust it and did drop them years ago, and I did not believe them until now when I needed most. Do not buy, these scam HOME WARRANTY, instead of saving the money for your future spend instead of rely on this scam and bogus fancy promise Home Warranty. Also, most of contractors who work for Home Warranty Insurance will most likely to work on the benefit side of their contractor, not the customers.

    A relatively small leak left a 12 inch stain on the corner of the ceiling of my dining area after torrential rains in the spring. CHW contacted a local roofer to diagnose and fix the problem. Armor Roofing came just a few days after I filed this claim, fixed the problem in less than 45 minutes, and referred me to a person who could repair interior sheet-rock.

    I was looking for a new home warranty and in searching Google. Choice Home Warranty came up as being on of the top 10. When it was time to file a claim I got nothing but the ran around. My A/C went out on June 22nd. They sent out a service guy who told me the unit would need to be replaced. Choice Home Warranty would not cover the unit because they stated lack of maintenance. When I called the service tech he told me it was not due to lack of maintenance, the unit is over 13 years old. He was surprised that Choice Home Warranty would not cover the unit. I went out and got a second option and it was due to the duct work when the home was built, putting extra stress on the unit. Choice still would not cover the unit.

    DO NOT WASTE your money!!! We have had this policy for a little over a month. Our AC unit went out when we were out of town. We turned off the unit so it wouldn't burn out the fan. We called and a claim. We couldn't connect with the first contractor so we had to have Choice Home assign another - he couldn't come out for 4 days! Meanwhile it's 100 degrees outside!

    Finally. After 7 days we get a technician and pay $60. We make contact with Choice Home and they say they aren't going to pay to fix it!!! Why? No good reason other than they don't want to! Compressor and fan went out. We called them and spoke with them and told them we were too frustrated and would call back when we had thought through it more. We tried to call back 10 min later and our number was blocked and went to voicemail saying they were closed... um... I spoke with them 10 minutes before and it was the middle of the afternoon. They blocked us. Save your money and either go with a different company or just don't get a home warranty. Now we're are out almost $600 and still required to pay for the repair on our own. This company is a total and complete scam!!! Run!!!

    Sales people lied that they cover everything, and when SPECIFICALLY asked then also they said that "yes this is cover." And just as other reviews they denied our first claim. For cancellation - they never refund the whole amount. Never let you cancel the policy in trial period. They lie to keep you in. And after trial period they charge unknown fees. Horrible customer support - ready to wait for 30 - 40 minutes when any representative tells you to wait for a minute. You have to make many calls for cancellation as they want to retain you without giving any service. I hope after reading my review other people can stay away from this company.

    When the A/C went out we called Choice. They sent Argo which replaced a part to make the a/c work a little. The second time Argo came out they said that the freon was overfilled and removed some. When we could not get the a/c working still, we called Choice to replace Argo. They sent Air Control. They diagnosed the problem. The a/c was low on freon. Choice approved for Air Control to replace 5 pounds of freon. Argo had taken that much freon from the system. Freon is not cheap and 5 lbs costs around $700.00.     Despite the promises of their salespeople and their "on hold" recording (which you will hear a LOT of as you spend a LOT of time on hold with claims) they did not cover the two claims that we made with them. One was for a pool pump that stopped functioning and the other was our AC unit that stopped working on a 90 degree day. After requesting service on our pool pump, I waited more than a week for them to find someone to come out to do an estimate. When it was determined they couldn't find anyone, they suggested I find someone on my own, pay that contractor for the service and then be reimbursed in 30 days.

    So despite having paid an additional premium to have my pool and hot tub covered, I chose to jump through this hoop. I got a guy out here who told me that my pump would need to be replaced since the interior wiring had worn out. Their excuse for rejecting my claim was that the problem was electrical not mechanical and wasn't caused by normal use. After a considerable amount of time on the phone trying to get them to pay for the replacement as promised in my policy ($600 including installation), they said they'd "help me out" by sending me $300. I agreed, assuming this was not typical. The AC's compressor died due to a burnt out valve. The unit is well over 15 years old (remember the pitch: It doesn't matter how old the house or appliance is?)

    They insisted that the problem was not normal wear and tear. Seriously? It has been running for more than 15 years and was working well until the middle of a hot July day when it died. We had maintained it as we should have, there was no "act of God" that struck it dead. It was NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. Their claims rep started out by saying it wasn't covered, then offered $250 toward the repair. From there, the next person up the food chain offered me $500. After insisting to speak to someone who had the power to override what was apparently a standard policy for this company - just pay the customer off with as small a payment as possible - I spoke with a "manager" who told me that, even though it wasn't a covered claim, they'd "help me out" (again) by getting me "their cost" using their tech. If I found my own tech, they'd pay "something" toward the cost.

    Now, here's the deal: The repairs quoted by their own tech were going to be well over $3000 and the max Choice EVER pays is $1,500 That's mentioned somewhere on the second to last page of your contract. You won't hear it from your salesperson, the company recording or the claims reps. She refused to admit that this problem was caused by normal wear and tear and #3 I had to go through negotiations with four different individuals just to find out that they still wouldn't honor their contract. They refused to admit that the problem was due to normal use. I think it's logical after our two experiences to expect this dodge with any claims in the future.

    I don't feel that after paying more than $2400 for a five year contract (six if you count what they "gave" to use to pay in full) I should have to argue for every dime when something happens that they've promised to cover. So, the upshot: I cancelled our policy and we will pay for an AC unit and installation on our own. The refund will go a long way to paying for that. I've been promised the total cost I paid minus the two months we used, a $50 "service fee" (what service?), and the $300 they paid for my pool heater. It was a rather expensive mistake, but this is my first step in trying to help others avoid it.

    I ordered Choice Home Warranty about 6 months ago. I have called in claims 3 times on separate things. Each time they assure the problem is covered and send a company out to fix it. After waiting around for a day or 2 the company arrives, calls Choice Home Warranty and says they deny the claim.     Their price was very low so I signed up. After reviewing the BBB report and seeing some were very negative, I inquired from friends and found someone who had them... They told me to run and that they declined most of his claims. They said his AC unit had not been maintained when their policy says that it is not necessary. I reviewed the policy document that became available to me after I signed up... it shows there is a limit to replacements...which I was also not told about. I called back to discuss... While on hold for about 45 mins, I decided to just cancel...too many red flags.     First off, they pressured me into buy a 3 year policy. Sent people out 5 times and never fixed my dryer! Then I was told that they would order a refurbished circuit board for it. I asked if I could just get a new dryer, as I did not want a refurbished board. I was told yes, and the allowable amount because of the age of my dryer was $253.06. I found a dryer for $299, which was acceptable to me, and now they say they are only going to give me $153.06 back! I would not have bought the dryer if I had known that was all I would get. I live on a fixed income and cannot afford that extra $100. I tried to cancel my policy after that, and was told I could cancel, but would not get a refund of the unused portion! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! USE AHS INSTEAD!!

    This corrupt, dishonest company is guilty of consumer fraud and breach of contract. If you don’t believe me just research it and see what the State of New Jersey sued them for and what they had to pay. Whatever you do avoid doing business with Choice Home Warranty. I still have four service claims that have not been acted upon. They have a hard time getting service technicians to work for them so what they do is tell you to find one to do the work and they will reimburse you if they agree with what they charge; they often dispute what the repair cost is so you get stuck with some or all of the cost. American Home Shield is the home warranty company to do business with NOT CHOICE HOME WARRANTY.

    Biggest mistake I’ve made in years is doing business with them. In one of my disputes with their fraudulent business practices, they offered to refund half of what I paid to date for my policy. I agreed. They sent me the paperwork and it was all about being prohibited from writing or saying anything “disparaging” about them, that they had taken care of my service claim (they hadn’t so they wanted me to be part of their lie) and there was no mention of severing our contractual relationship. I keep the policy only for one reason: to have standing in a court-of-law to sue them for consumer fraud and breach of contract which I am in the process of doing, and to also file grievances with various consumer protection and government agencies.

    Do NOT go with this company... Those positive reviews are lies and are in no way accurate. I paid 1700 for 6 years of coverage and have filed 2 claims just to have both them denied. One was a microwave that cost 200 dollars and the tech said it would cost 300.00. Choice denied the claim saying it was pre existing and not covered... EVERYTHING that goes wrong with something is pre existing. Stuff starts wearing and breaking soon as you plug it in you idiots... so after arguing with them they agreed to pay half the repair costs. Well guess what the cost was now???? 500.00 on a 200.00 microwave. They wanted me to pay 250.00 so they would only have to pay 50.00... SCAM.

    But wait it gets better... so I filed a claim about my air ducts leaking in the attic. Guess what I was told... YOU GUESSED IT. "I'm sorry sir that's a pre existing condition and not covered." So unless you all just want to hand over your money to a company who won't fix anything or go and buy everything new in your house after you buys a policy and take photos proving it's new before you got the policy so they can't use the Pre existing excuse on you then I suggest you find another warranty place but something tells me they're all like this... only in to make money not pay out any. Every positive review I have read has to be done by their company because there's no way they could get a positive review if they won't even fix a 200.00 dollar microwave.

    This company denied claims twice without justification. Statements were created so that claims could be denied based on what is found in contract. When I asked a representative to explain reason the explanation they stated was found in the contract but was not the actual situation. What the representative stated was false. On the second claim, the contractor stated that the company told him what to explain on the problem so that they can deny the claim. THIS COMPANY IS 100% FRAUD. Don't do business with them. They coach their contractors what to say in order to deny claims.

    We have had issues with this temperature probe on our Kenmore Elite multiple times. The technician from Jaks Services arrived exactly on time and called ahead before he came. He diagnosed the problem as the temperature probe, but could not change it out due to the previous technician from another company breaking the screws off. He told me the cost to have him and another person come back and fix the problem with the broken screws and it was very reasonable. This was a double oven, so it was going to take two people to remove it and get the screws out. Very sharp guy and very detailed in checking everything before scheduling the followup appointment.

    This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I called a claim in on Thursday, by the next morning they assigned a tech. The tech called me back after I called him 4 times, let the phone rang once and hung up. I tried calling back and he wouldn't answer. I called Choice and explained to them what happened. They tried calling him and had to leave a VM. They asked that I give him 2 more hours to call back and if he didn't to call them and restart the claim. I did just that. Friday at 2, I called them again and they restarted the claim. By 7 pm that night no one had been assigned. I called back inquiring and they said they were waiting. I called Sat. morning inquiring about my claim and was told that they were still waiting on some to take it.

    I called back at 11 am for an update because by then the temperature in my home was 95 degrees. I was told the same thing. I called back at 1 and spoke to the manager Malka who said that it was no guarantee anyone would come out this weekend because 48 hours was business hours not weekend and they didn't know when someone would come out. That she was the only manager on duty and no one else was able to help me. I was also told I could call my own tech out. He could diagnose his finding, call them back, if they approved the claim then they would cover it at their rate, but that wasn't a guarantee. I pay them every month and haven't missed a month. They are a ripoff, scam artist, that does false advertising for their product and service.

    Never ever use Choice Home Warranty. They rob you of your money every month, and then when something breaks, they send incompetent people to your house who do work they say "isn't covered under warranty." I recently had my AC unit go bad. I chose my own tech to look at it. It was determined that a new system was needed. Because the tech mentioned the coil was rusted, even though he explained that is NOT the reason the unit didn't work, they refused to pay the claim. Then they said they wouldn't replace the unit anyway. They would only reimburse me $500 for labor. This company doesn't value you as a consumer! I will be cancelling my policy as soon as possible!

    Dissatisfied with Choice HW. Hard to call and speak to someone, senior advisers are rude. Covered my AC unit or so I thought - contract says "All parts and components covered." Thats unless you have a rusty coil then they wriggle out. They had a class action lawsuit in 2016, had to pay out hundreds of thousands and the internet is full of Choice-horror stories - DO NOT trust this company - and all the good reviews you see is because they give people a free month if they give a good review. I have NO IDEA whatsoever how the state of NJ allows them to remain in business.
