    On Thursday I placed a service call with Choice for my washing machine. A technician was sent to my home the next day. He wouldn't accept a debit card as payment for the service call so we had to get cash to pay him (would have been good to know that beforehand). He stated he didn't have the belt to repair it but would come back on Monday and someone needed to be there. On Monday we made sure someone was home all day. No technician and no call. On Tuesday, tried calling the technician but he wouldn't return a call. Called Choice and they stated (after placing me on hold to call the technician) that the technician would call me within an hour. No call.

    When I looked online at the status of my claim, it stated that the repair was approved by Choice on Friday and parts would be 3-5 days according to the technician. This morning, after another call to Choice, the technician called me. He stated he was having personal problems and hadn't been able to get back out to complete the repair. After he picked his son up from wrestling, he would call me back to let me know when he could come back. Should this be acceptable? It's most definitely not professional and I feel Choice needs to correct this, but they are not willing to do anything further except to wait on this technician. This is my first service call but I am definitely not impressed with Choice's selected service tech, nor their unwillingness to step in and correct this matter. So far, 7 days without a washing machine and counting.

    When I called in to sign up for a month to month the sales rep was telling me about another plan. When she was done she asked if I wanted that plan for further savings. I said NO over and over. It really made me feel bad. But I signed up for the month to month even though she was pushy and made me feel bad.

    We won’t use Choice next year. We’ve spent years with Choice and every time we lose an appliance, we come WAY out of pocket to replace it PLUS the $45 fee. It’s been horrible honestly. Choice says they will help but they give only a 1/3 of what you can find a new appliance for. I just don’t trust them to help us cover our appliances. Never again.

    HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE company to do business with. Scam artistry at it's best!!!! Please avoid by all means!!!! On May 9, 2019 I was called by a gentleman named Barry from Choice Home Warranty because they could see where I had been researching warranty companies....anyhoo Barry told me all the enticing benefits of being with Choice. I told him from what I was hearing he sparked my interest but before I can commit to anything I would need him to go over my CURRENT warranty contract with me and compare if they covered all and if not more than my current company. Barry said yes, yes, yes, to all my questions. That and the level of professionalism Barry showed is what made me even change over to Choice. Now let's fast forward to 12-13-19 and $313.36 in contractual payments when I have to file my first claim.

    The heat in my home went out all of a sudden. I called Choice and they instructed me it would be no problem to get a tech to my home to look at the heating system. On 12-14-19 which was a Saturday – keep in mind I was contacted by R&H Heating and Cooling letting me know they would be coming out that day to look at my unit. The tech explained to me that the heat had went out due to the wheel coming of the shaft of the unit. They told me it wasn't uncommon and they would communicate that with Choice and don't really see it being a issue which would be about roughly a $829.00 job give or take. Only hold up would be giving Choice and myself a quote on how much it would be exactly and how long the whole process would take because again it's SATURDAY and the parts warehouses are closed.

    The tech left my house around 3:20pm and exactly at 3:29pm I was receiving a email from Choice saying my claim had been denied. Now due to my insane disbelief I called Choice and asked how in the heck was my claim denied and the tech just left my house???? The representative told me based on the analysis the tech gave they concluded it was a uncovered part!!!! Now how in the heck of deceptive practices could that be when I asked the rep specifically asked if the policy covered all things involved in the heating and air conditioning units and Barry and Choice assured me it did!

    Let the rep tell me the wheel coming off the shaft was not normal wear and tear even though it's in the attic of our home which is 10+ years old which 3 of those years we owned it and both Us and the previous owners have taken care and pride in our very lovely home with regular routine maintenance and care. So if there was to ever be a problem with the wheel, shaft, blower would they not think we would have known prior to this because the air and heat have been working completely fine up until 12-13-19 with no problem.

    She told me I had the right to appeal their decision and escalated it up to a case manager. So on 12-16-19 I received a email from a Choice case manager by the name of Eddie ** asking me to contact him. After SEVERAL calls and a email (because I assume my family having no heat wasn't important enough to return my calls or email) I FINALLY got a hold of Mr ** who told me that according to the techs who work at Choice – mind you he told me there were two who read over the analysis – they determined (without ever even looking at my unit) that the wheel coming off the shaft was not normal wear and tear and NOT the technician from the R&H company which I was previous told was the determining factor which apparently was a LIE! The Choice techs wherever they work made that determination. Which is why they don't have any plans on covering it.

    The ** man told me to look at it like a car if your driving a car and the wheel comes off, that's just not natural which is why it would be a uncovered item???? REALLY ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS!!!! So you're comparing my heating wheel a non mobile unit to that of a vehicle which is driving everyday???? I much rather him told me GO TO HELL rather than insult my intelligence with such a off the wall comparison. I immediately cancelled my contract which out of $313.36 all they saw fit to refund me was $39.17 because I had just paid my dues on the 9th. Go figure. Lucky me!

    Livid, lied too, deceived and suckered would be good definitions of how I feel right now but luckily enough my husband is a attorney and I have started my process of suing Choice Home Warranty and even found other people who they have deceived in my state as well as others and some have been helpful enough to write letters and statements to show just how crooked this company is!!!! It's the principle that people work hard to have nice things and make sure they purchase necessary contracts as such to keep their nice hard worked for properties and companies like Choice takes advantage of that!!!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

    So I had a repairman come out and fix the problem, they do not pay for valve replacement in your heater system, now they say they will fix any components, so I'm out of pocket money of $380 plus what I have been paying for a warranty for 6 months I'm out of that money also never again, I've been better off replacing the home unit.

    Updated on 06/15/2020: A/C Repair. Choice had me an appt for repair within 24 hrs on a weekend. Fantastic! The technicians showed in the window that Choice gave me, I would have liked the technician to call me in the morning to confirm when they were on time after I contacted them for a proposed show time. They quickly diagnosed the problem and repaired the defective part with 30 minutes.

    I’ve been using Choice Home Warranty (CHW) since December 2017 after I switched from other company. I called them to repair my washer and dryer machines on 12/16/19, they answered the phone quickly, the representative was nice, friendly, and professional.     Choice Home Warranty will not cover your claims and lie about it. I am been waiting for my dishwasher to be fixed. The Choice home warranty first asked me to get the technician to come look at it and pay him 60 dollars. Once the technician told Choice Home Warranty what the issue was they said they will not cover it. After calling them for months and not getting any responses they finally said they will only pay 100 dollars for 250 dollar repair. Now I have to pay out of pocket to fix it. Choice Home Warranty LIKES TO CHEAT. Never buy this home warranty.

    As I told Michael **, I don't know if you recorded our conversation or not, or if you kept it. If you look up the people you sent out, First Stop Appliance, on the internet you will see just what kind of "professional" loser your company uses. This has been the most irritating and frustrating ordeal I've ever had to deal with. I thought you used reputable contractors to work with your customers, apparently I was wrong. Judging by the way they and you treated me I can only assume that not only are First Stop Appliance not a reputable company but I guess you're not either. I want to thank you people for absolutely nothing. I can't believe you would hang a customer of yours out to dry like that.     I had a 38 year old wall oven thermometer go out requiring a replacement. They offered $449.00 as a settlement to buy a new 24 inch electric wall oven. I did my research and found out that a replacement starts at $550 and more for anything decent! I had to call my adjuster twice, in tears, to get the $ amount increased, the finally agreed on $550.00, I had to pay $588 for off brand plus installation fee. Overall a very stressful transaction!

    I’m satisfied with the contractor that came out. Prompt, pleasant and professional. CHW indicated replacing was cheaper than fixing. However the replacement funds were not for full replacement. Needing resolution I agreed to the second amount offered as it covered most of the cheapest appliance. I had to come out of pocket approx. $100.00+ retrieval and installation of the replacement. Contract indicated fixed or replaced, not "We’ll offer what we’d expect to pay." Probably won’t renew. :(

    Buyer Beware with Choice Home Warranty, they will make up problems to avoid paying you despite professional technician opinions. We had a small crack in our furnace, in the heat exchange. Our furnace is 26 years old. Two separate technicians from two different companies, both came and took a look at it. Both agreed that the crack was due to age and normal wear and tear. Choice Home denied coverage claiming it was moisture damage from a non-existent humidifier. There is no humidifier attached to the furnace and there was no leak. When we told them that, then they claim that they will deny coverage because furnaces are supposed to last 30 years and since ours is not 30 years yet, moisture must have caused the crack. Never mind the furnace is 26 years old, and two actual professional were confident in saying moisture was not a factor. How dare our furnace break down 4 years early, the nerve!

    Beware, if your appliance breaks down before the "expected" shelf life date, you won't get coverage. We applied for many appeals and they wouldn't budge, even after the techs went to bat for us. Even one of the technicians when he found out that we have Choice Home told us good luck, they will find any reason to not pay out. When a company has a reputation among the industry professionals, and it is a bad reputation--red flag alert.

    We had a fire in a electrical outlet in our 12 year old's room. Nothing was plugged into this outlet and her bed was right next to this outlet. When the electrician came he made his recommendations and submitted the claim after we paid our 65.00 copay. He did not fix the outlet that has exposed wires showing in our 12 year old's bedroom and you denied our claim and now we have to appeal while our daughter's room has exposed wires showing. I am very disappointed with this process as electrical is nothing to play around with and I would have thought to say the least that an outlet would have been placed to cover the exposed wires as this is a safety issue to me. So would I recommend your home warranty? Sadly right now I would have to say no.

    I am a landlord who has owned several rental homes and commercial property and have used other warranty co. with great success. Choice dropped the ball at every turn and I cancelled my policy. Basically in a nutshell we had a high water pressure problem from our main water line in the house due to a bad pressure regulator on the main water line as diagnosed by their chosen plumber, damage was caused to the power vent on the water tank and damage also to the tank itself. The high pressure in the house and the high pressure in the water tank damaged the thermal expansion tank.

    Choice basically had everything excluded and repaired nothing, their case manager Sherice ** had limited knowledge of any of the mechanics of the plumbing or hot water tank, actually had no idea what the main water line pressure regulator does or where it's located. Her response on why there are so many exclusions on the policy "It's how we keep our premiums low". Worst warranty I have ever dealt with.

    I have filed two claims and have had to file reimbursement with both claims. You sent me an email that you found someone a day after I had had the problem fixed myself. When I called your contractor to tell him, he stated that he was not planning on coming that day between 7 am and 11 am. He was only going to call me and set an appointment. This was a stoppage of water in the plumbing system. This problem could not wait. It needed to be fixed ASAP. It has ruined my carpet in 3 rooms and that is another expense because of waiting on you to send someone before you told me to call my own tech which I did.

    First of all I think that you need to know that I am a Licensed Real Estate Agent here in Corpus Christi and I have a lot of influence on my Buyers when it comes to choosing a Home Warranty. I had a Home Warranty with American Home Shield for 2 years and became unhappy with them, when I had a leak under my Kitchen sink during the Christmas Holidays and their only plumber that they used in this area (Population 350000) could not get to me for 5 days. So, for 5 days I couldn't use my Kitchen sink. This summer I researched and talked to several different Warranty Co, and decided to go with your Company and I even bought a Contract for 5 years I think.

    Anyway, I have had a claim with a Ceiling fan and because it was just the light kit, your Co. wouldn't cover it. $65 later I had to buy a new fan. Then we had a leak in our pool, and just before the Leak Detection people got here, they called and said that they didn't think y'all would cover it, so we cancelled that Claim, saved ourselves that $65. Then I had a problem with my AC/Heating Fan running and making quite a bit of noise, so because I have a Home Warranty I made a claim and the Technicians came out and checked it out to find that the motor was going out. So, after talking with Carrier and y'all they said that Carrier was going to cover it, because it was covered under the Carrier Warranty, but that we would have to pay $100. for the Labor.

    Now, my ? is I have paid $65 and because the Unit is covered under the Manufacturers Warranty which saves your Co. $700 or $800 We are being forced to pay $100. for the Labor. I am right now asking myself. "Why am I carrying this Home Warranty?" Maybe I need to cancel and get back the unused portion. I have played Telephone Tag with a Case Mgr. for 2 days to no avail and I hope that this gets to her. Thanks, Tinker **.

    Our home is only 3.5 years old. At the two year mark, I decided to purchase an extended warranty mainly to cover the A/C. Having lived in 3 homes prior, I’ve both renovated and built. My last new home’s A/C unit was ten years old and I sold it with no issues with the unit at ten years old. Unexpectedly, an annual routine maintenance uncovered a leak with our coils upstairs. What a surprise calling to actually use the warranty, only to be told it isn’t covered. I’ll be canceling the warranty and saving the extra money each month.     I’ve been with Choice Home Warranty for a couple of years now and have always paid my monthly payment on time. On Christmas Day our water heater went out! My son went and looked at it and said there were no leaks and the unit looked good! After troubleshooting the issue of the pilot light he determined that the thermocouple was bad and needed to be replaced or a new water heater purchased. I told him I would just make a claim because that’s why I pay monthly to protect my appliances around the home. The contractor they sent out wasn’t even a certified plumber! He tells me that the tank is leaking and I would have to buy a new hot water heater. Needing to shower and get this fixed I agreed and asked why my policy wouldn’t cover it. He told me they won’t replace if the storage tank had issues. The storage tank was fine and full of water. There was no water anywhere in that area! The guy even told my son he wasn’t a plumber.

    On the website Choice Home Warranty states they fix or replace all home appliances including water heaters and tanks! They make you feel that you need to buy the warranty so you don’t have to make a big purchase all at one time only to take your money and then give you false information about the problem so they can say in the fine print we don’t do nothing with this particular problem. Most water heaters have a tank of 40 to 50 gallon! The main component is the tank but they say they won’t replace is water heater due to leaking tank. They need to be held accountable for lying about the issue to a female who doesn’t know just so they don’t have to fix or replace it. They use tactics to make you feel like the only option is to replace it using their people. This is wrong!

    Both major claims were denied because of corrosion. The warranty company is aware that there may be some corrosion on the evaporator coils, so they use this as a lack of maintenance and denies the claim. As to the tankless water heater that was leaking leaked into an electrical component and caused the wire to corrode. End result denied due to corrosion. Additionally, they made up the the entire system was corroded which is completely false and fabricated. The authorization representatives coerce the technicians to say that it's possible corrosion exists in places unseen therefore the representative makes the assumption that the reservoir is corroded without thorough inspection. This is the biggest scam going and hopefully the states regulate them more and the courts send a message to companies who are scamming people out of millions of dollars and not doing the repair.

    On 2 different occasions I submitted claims that were denied. After reading the fine print they should have been denied. My issue is that Choice did not proactively deny the claims, instead they scheduled technicians to come out my home, have me re-arrange my schedule, then have me pay $75 dollars to be told that the claims are not covered.

    They go over the contract very quickly during their sales pitch and only mention what they cover and not what they do not cover. They also represented their coverage per area as per incident and not during the contract period. They tell you that you can make as many claims as you need per covered systems or appliances. This is a lie. You can only make claims if you have not capped your system for the year. This is in the fine print that they do not go over with you.

    In my case, I had a pool repair done on my valves which were allowing air into my system. I paid my deductible after multiple trips to my home the fix was complete. It was better but not completely fixed... This degraded more over time and I submitted another claim. At no time after the fix was submitted did they tell me my coverage was capped for this system. They scheduled a tech to come out.. have me pay the $75 again just to deny my claim because my previous repair used up my contract max. Of course I did not know this prior or after they denied my claim, until I called them.

    The 2nd claim was for a front load washer boot that was causing my washer to leak. Through their online claim form. I selected "leaking" as my issue and wrote out very clearly that the boot was damaged and was causing the leak and needed to be replaced. I once again re-arranged my schedule. Spoke to the tech proactively to tell him the issue. He came to my home for 5 mins. I showed him the issue and he gave me a bill for $75 and said he would submit to Choice. The claim was denied and I was told seals are not covered. This is in the fine print for this appliance. I appealed and asked for my $75 back since I clearly told them what the issue was and they should have denied immediately and not wasted my time. I was told because I selected "leak" as my issue vs "seal" is the reason why it was not denied immediately. Even though I specifically said the boot needed to be replaced in my claim. Appeal denied.

    One last nugget you should be aware of. After my first denial, I tried to cancel my policy and have them reimburse me the pro-rated balance of my policy. This was denied also.... because in the fine print if they actually have to pay out money for successful claims you cant cancel. Of course whatever dollar they say they had to pay out for the repair is completely arbitrary by them and you are not shared this information.

    I was with a different home warranty for a long time. This year, I got moved to Choice warranty based on the reviews and price. However, my experience is really bad so far. First of all, they don't have good field coverage. They always go with an independent contractor, who seems to be not interested in resolving a customer issues.     I filed a claim on my furnace. CHW sent service person out and it was determined my furnace heat exchanger had crack. Claim was denied, so I filed appeal. An appeal manager was assigned. I got a second furnace repair person (at my own cost) to check furnace. He determined furnace heat exchanger had cracks. Following CHW rules, my repair person and I called CHW authorization dept. CHW dept said would send email for how I can be reimbursed. Never received emai. Called CHW appeal manager, he said claim denied and everything that my repair said had been changed. So, ask for copies of all photos and reports submitted by CHW service providers. CHW refuses to provide copies.

    Please avoid this company at all costs. They refused to repair my Kenmore Elite Refrigerator which was well within warranty and had suffered an issue with the compressor. This was a 2016 model and was well within manufacturer warranty as well. They required me to connect with Sears who ended up sending the parts. After the parts arrived, they refused to send a technician to complete repairs. As a result, I ended up paying for the parts and repair. Overall, a very very dissatisfying experience.     I filed claim online on 12/19 'cause my heat was not working right. It took them Dec 23 rd to get some to my house. He determined it was the blower motor so he sent it in to Choice. They they sent me a response the next morning. It has been determined that the blower motor has failed and is now in need of replacement. This will be a covered repair. Additionally it has been determined that due to the blower motor assembly being obstructed by the gas valve and the burners, the technician is unable to access the motor to make the covered repair, the technician will need to remove these two components to gain the required access. Please refer to your terms and conditions section F number 2; we are not responsible for providing access to or closing access from any covered item which is concrete-encased or otherwise obstructed or inaccessible.

    First let me say this will cost 120.00. I have to get this done. This is labor which is free. I looked at blower motor. It's not obstructed nor inaccessible or in-case in concrete. You simply removed 8 screws for door and the motor is at the front held down by 3 screws and then some wires that plug into motor. I talk with tech pro. He said it's labor. They do not even know what Access charges are. They said the 120.00 is labor charges which are covered. So I called in to service sp with Deanna. Nothing she could do until I get email about determination which I got the next this morning but was told I could speak to another supervisor 'cause she would off today.

    Called back sw jade. She would not give me her ext or employee#. Would not let me sw her mgr Jim refused to due it called back sw alex. He did provide his employee # but refuse to let me sw with his mgr David.. Told me since I filed appeal it takes 4 business hrs to respond. The email says at least one bus day. Jade told at least 3 lies. She said she did not know Deanna then said she did. She told me Deanna does work at the Sunrise Fl call center. Alex verified that she. Jade said she does not have employee # or ext # which she does so she lied.

    There is no service here. I have been with this company for 4 years. Only had one other complaint and it was bad service too. Had to push them to pay part of the water heater replacement. Still cost me 880.00. Do not use this company. After this issue is done and I keep appealing the 120.00 get that resolved I may look for another company. This appears they do not want to pay for legit labor charges ever. The person they sent said they sent it in as labor charges.

    I paid over a thousand dollars for a warranty, I even paid extra for ice maker coverage. My ice maker stopped working a few weeks ago. I called Choice and made a claim. They did send out a repairman who was very nice, he determined that my icemaker malfunctioning was due to normal wear and tear. He said he would relay this information to choice. I received a email 2 days later stating that my claim was denied for a manufacturing defect. I’ve checked with Samsung and there is no recall on my model refrigerator. The refrigerator is less than five years old and up until three weeks ago the icemaker was working great. I still don’t understand how Choice made that determination from my office in New Jersey. I think this is just a ploy from them to not pay for my claim.

    I have had this coverage going on three years and this is my first claim and this is how I was treated. I Believed this was a good company. I even got my mother a policy with them also recommended them to my best friend who Also got a policy. If I knew what I know now none of us would have coverage with this company. I am extremely unhappy and frustrated because I paid extra for this coverage And the first time I tried to use them this is what I get. -5 stars in my book.

    Contacted CHW for two separate issues. Was denied both times. I received the policy with our property purchase. At first glance the policy appears to cover a majority of items, A large amount of excluded items...many within the covered ones...become apparent after reviewing the policy details. This creates a buyer beware situation. A property purchaser may believe he is getting a warranty which will cover more than it actually does. Know what you are getting and not getting before assuming anything.

    Checked the claim after filing it over the phone. Many, many mistakes, such as what appliance and the problem. Only half was fixed after an email response. Please have someone answer that understands English. Because of the description, no one wanted to work on the issue. The appt to LOOK at the issue is 10 days after initial call. Who knows how long after that. I am diabetic and NEED my refrigerator. Problem was that the back half was freezing things solid. Can't afford an issue like this for that long. My 3 insulin products are most surely damaged. 90 days of each down the tubes! I think this could have been handled a whole lot better.

    I should have known that I would have problems with CHW from the beginning. I originally had decided to go with them as a warranty company because they had amazing reviews. Well I went in and filled out the information that was asked of me and immediately I had a phone call from one of their agents. He was so rude and made me feel like I needed to go with their warranty company for the next 3 years. He did not understand that I didn’t want to do that. He harassed me about not having money and made it seem as if I was just being “cheap.”

    I asked to speak to his manager and he told me that a supervisor was not there until after the weekend. So I had to wait to submit a complain about how he was harassing me. I hung up and called back and demanded to speak to anyone that could take a formal complaint. I was determined to ask for a full refund and take my business elsewhere. Somehow the girl on the other line convinced me that maybe I should give the company a chance. Okay, I figured I could do that.

    Fast forward a few months and I realized that our heating system wasn’t working right. Got online and filled out the information so we could get someone out to take a look. I wasn’t sure when the heating system had failed so I put in a random date (didn’t think it was a big deal). Submitted my claim and immediately they dispatched someone to come take a look. Technician came out and fixed the problem, collected the service fee and went on his way. About 10 mins after he has left, I get a call from him. He stated that when he submitted the claim it was denied. I was so confused, why would it be denied?

    I called CHW and the gentleman who answers tells me because I put that the heating system failed 01/01/2019. It made no sense, were they really using this random date to not pay my claim? I explained the reasoning for it and the jerk told me that I needed to appeal it, but more than likely they would not be paying it. Like WTF? So you mean to tell me that CHW took the claim, sent someone out to fix the problem and now they are deciding they aren’t going to pay it? Like why not just tell me that from the beginning and let me figure it out. When I submitted the original information I had no idea the date needed to be more accurate.

    Then I was assigned a case manager. Called and spoke to the lady over the phone; I also explained to her that it was an error on my end and if it had any idea this would happen I would have been more accurate on my claim. She then tells me there’s a gap between the date I stated and the date I told her that the heating system stopped working. Like I know there’s a gap! And she obviously wasn’t listening to me when I told her it was a mistake on my end. AC worked fine during the summer and when we turned the heater on it wasn’t working correctly.

    I couldn’t tell you when the Heating system stopped working since we hadn’t used it all summer. She gave me some crappy apology and told me that either way that it’s going to be cheaper using there vendor then finding my own. I don’t know how they brag about customer service when It sucks. So basically it’s my problem that I made a mistake on my end. I will definitely not be renewing my warranty with them again and I will make sure I tell everyone who considers them about my terrible experience with them.

    We initiated claim to fix a broken water dispenser and a repair person was sent out. Although he was able to temporarily resuscitate the dispenser for a day, it quickly stopped working again. As requested by the repair person, we contacted them again, and the person said he would return to complete the repair properly. He never showed, but later reported to Choice Home Warranty that the matter was closed, the item was fixed.

    When we tried to explain that that was not the case, and that we had text messages to show that the repair person had promised to return, we were told that as 30 days had elapsed we needed to restart the claim and pay the service charge once more. When we called to explain, the situation was escalated to a manager, who upheld the original decision to make us pay the charge again. Our experience with Choice Home Warranty was terrible. They use inexperienced contractors, and are willing to allow customers to cancel their policies rather than address issues properly. This is a sub-standard home warranty company, so buyers please beware and avoid this company at all costs.

    I paid almost $4,000.00 in cash in advance, to protect my property when emergency occurs. Every call becomes an stressful appeal process, in my opinion some of their technicians are incompetent criminals including Home Choice, they request me to pay more in deductible than my contract stated they don't submit quotes for home choice then it becomes a long stressful process scheduling with several technician for a simple repair, my mother 80 years old have, she has over 2 months on and off no heat. They also send 3 different technicians to repair a microwave a year old previously replaced by Home Shield warranty. My previous home insurance comp. They can't fix the microwave.     Just want to let you know that I am not happy at all with your company. Every time I have a claim it always seems to be something that is on your exclusion list. This last one was for a microwave that went bad. You attribute it all to a bad magnetron and you are not covering. The tech said it was due to the magnetron being weak and the arcing was just a secondary problem. Anyway you can you tried to use your exclusions to the detriment of your customer.

    I just renewed my CHW contract. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to do. There have been so many times that CHW has pissed me off for their lack of honesty about their contractual agreements. The bottom line was that I actually had more repairs than what I paid for the contract. The other thing I want to mention is that there have been many, many times that I never bothered to call CWH for an issue that happened at my home. I just didn't want to hear the BS from CHW. That's right, BS! Things that were actually agreed to in the beginning that mysteriously became items not covered in the contract. To top it off, when pushed into a corner, CHW would refer me to their bottom line.... that they reserved the right to pay or not pay for whatever item is being discussed. One other thing is that there is a dollar limited on the items, another small detail that was never mentioned during the initial sales call at the time of purchase.

    The biggest issue I had was this past year when my well pump went bad. We had no water. For two days, I waited for CHW to call me and to give me information on who was going to repair the well. At the end of the second day, I was called and told to get my own well company. We had lost yet another day without water. Finally it was repaired and then I was told it wasn't a covered item. We discussed this along with paragraph E-3. It seemed pretty clear to me that I was owed $500. The lady I spoke with was trying to say that I didn't take care of the pump which is why it went bad. The pump of course is down in the well and it isn't something that anyone does or can do maintenance on. It either works or it fails. The bottom line is CHW covered it, paid me the $500 allowed by the contract and we called it a day.

    Having said that, I can also say that some of the repairs were very pleasant experiences. I called CHW, they called a repairman, the repairman came out and did the repair, I paid the initial fee and the repairman left. The process can be clean, effective, and done without anyone getting upset. That's how it should be every time. Again, looking back over the past six years, your record isn't perfect, but it's acceptable to a point. There's no doubt in my mind that there were times when I wasn't going to get any results or satisfaction.

    I have warranty through this company. I recently filed a claim for heating that will not work. The tech (HVAC company) that came out put in a claim to have my air handler replaced but Choice denied the claim. I was not aware of this because Choice emailed me and told me that the tech's diagnosis was no mechanical failure and no repairs needed. Mind you my heat is still not working. SO I get upset with the tech thinking he was trying to scam me and all along Choice is aware that I need an air handler but keeps telling me the tech said no repairs were needed.

    It wasn't until the owner of the HVAC company reached out to me and send me screenshots of all the communication with Choice that I found out that Choice was trying to play me. When I contacted Choice again in regards to this, they still tried to deny the request was made. Choice even tried to play me against the HVAC Company but didn't realize they weren't talking to me...they were bad mouthing the HVAC company to the HVAC company.

    I recently bought warranty from this company and signed for 4 years. The sales person mentioned lots of things and I thought I will give it a try. But all their promises of warranty went off as soon as I submitted my first claim of plumbing. It was a minor issue like replacing expansion tank on a boiler and they made a big deal and I am still struggling with them. It has been a week and it still has not been fixed.     If you do not mind working with techs who are new to the industry or field, building experience and business off your back, or those that should no longer be providing services because they should have retired years ago, this is the place to go. After a month, I finally got my washer fixed. Each visit (4) in total, things were replaced, would work for 5 minutes and then boom, out again. Parts that he put on that he thought would fix it, wasn't and he would remove the new part and replace it with the old part he saved, moving on to what he thought was the problem next, and when it wasn't removed the part, replaced the old and so on.

    Got that kind of time? Most folks don't have a month of laundry mat trips. Good luck in canceling their services cause it will take more than one time despite assurances it was done. Doing it of course after you are billed again. And if you WANT to cancel, well that will take a lot of talking and debate besides long waits on the phone to talk to ANYBODY and it is always the wrong department. I went back to my old provider who cost more but I never had such problems with.

    I am disappointed with the coverage provided with choice HW. My GE built-in microwave went out. The technician determined that it needs to be replaced, since no parts are available for repair. Since it cannot be repaired, Choice HW give me some money for replacement. I have 2 problem with this:

    1- The money is not even close enough how much it will cost me to replace the units with a similar unit, ie GE stainless steal.

    2- Even when I take this small amount of money, I have to pay someone to install the unit!

    I would have thought, even if I accept the small amount of money and by the replacement unit, the technician who came to do the diagnosis would come back to install the unit. This is not the case according to their contract. I have to take the small amount of money they offered and I had to pay for someone to install it. They should at least have the technician come back and install the new unit. He would have to do that if he was actually going to repair the unit, why not also install the unit as well. Why make me pay for another person to install it!!!

    My claim was denied on a technicality costing me $$$$ right before Christmas. Why am I paying Choice? The technician was shaking his head and stated "this is why I don't do warranty work". USELESS CONTRACT!!! The technician needed access ahead of the clogged drain NOT JUST from the clean out. My claim was denied because he didn't specifically state "clean out". Since I grew up in the plumbing business I know this is a total SCAM. Most plumbers are willing to go the extra mile to clean out the drain in both directions since it will prevent a REPEAT VISIT.     Got the warranty. Turned it in on our refrigerator someone and said they couldn't replace it and earn $8,000 refrigerator. They're only going to give us $780. Do not get them and they're making us wait a whole month to pay another month premium to get their money. Leticia and customer service is the most horrific person I've ever dealt with. Horrible. No customer service skills whatsoever. Do not get this home warranty. You will regret regret regret it. Read the fine print. All they will pay in the very end is up to $1,000 for anything.     For the second time this year, I have called CHW to report a repair need. For the second time this year, I have been denied coverage. And in both cases, I ended up paying the full freight on a garage door pulley issue and now on a leaking faucet. Your technicians are great - I just have to pay them the entire amount to get something fixed. Not sure this policy is worth it when I have to pay the entire repair bill. I should have read the entire policy in detail - and there are exceptions to coverage everywhere.

    I would like to say this. I bought this warranty confident that they would hold up to their rating however they absolutely have not. Just like most warranty companies if you don't read the fine writing they find a way to sneak out of any coverage if at all possible. For instance I called in a claim for my dryer and they agreed to cover it. They then showed up a week later to fix it. The tech was given the wrong piece and left my dryer in pieces. I then received an email back a couple days later stating they were no longer going to cover it instead would offer me money to replace it.

    Now it has been 2 weeks without a dryer. The amount they offered me to replace my $1400 high capacity dryer was $299. There isn't a dryer out there that can be purchased for that. So now I have to call the warranty company to discuss with them their quote and I get this manager 4 days later that proceeds to tell me that the money is not to replace but to fix it. Huh. That's funny. Isn't that what you guys are supposed to do? So now after our conversation they agree to fix it and it has now been almost a month without a dryer???? Mind you I have 3 kids and this is around Christmas.

    So I'm taking all my kids clothes to the laundromat spending my money to wash and dry my clothes because they can't get their ** together. It's sad that these companies think it's normal practice to screw their customers. Thanks Latasha for the great customer service. I would recommend finding a new profession. Customer service is def not your forte. To all the consumers out there do not use this company. They are a joke and have so many exceptions in their policy that they literally don't cover anything.

    You can check any order # associated with my account. My experience is the same. I pay month after month, but the two times I sought coverage my claim was denied. You can reference contract sections and sub-sections, but it doesn't change the fact that CHW takes my payments every month and then, cleverly, figures out how to deny coverage. I pay for appliance coverage, but the refrigerator ice maker isn't covered. My HVAC is covered, but not the gas valve, etc...

    I submitted 2 claims and both times they found a reason not to cover it. They take long to get back to you after the technician comes the 1st time. I was having a problem with my pool filter leaking. They didn’t get back to me in a timely manner so I had to fix it on my own. I was having my daughters graduation party and could not wait any longer after waiting a week to hear from them. After fixing the problem myself I asked them to reimburse me for the parts. They did not even cover the parts. Stay away. They only want your money.

    What I did not like was that garbage disposal I had was a Whirlpool medium grade one half horsepower and was replaced with a lowest Badger grade # (1) unit with only one third horsepower. I am understanding if item can't be repaired it was to be replaced with same model, I told you when I opened the claim with what I had along with a full description of the model, serial number and horsepower.

    One star is too high for this organization. BUYER BEWARE! I would not recommend this company to anyone. I originally filed a claim on 11/13 because our furnace was not working. Choice initially scheduled a visit with a technician quickly and the technician came out and shared that our over 40 year old furnace would likely need to be replaced. He submitted this information to Choice along with an alternative solution of a new circuit board and new thermostat which is the option Choice funded.

    The technician came back to install these parts and that still did not fix the problem so they told Choice a second time the furnace would likely need to be replaced. Instead, Choice ordered further diagnostics that identified a multitude of problems: Surging blew the new circuit board so that needs to again be replaced but the entire system needs to be rewired so it stops the surging that blew the board and it also needs a new blower but the technician again shared that with a furnace this old this solution would likely not work and stated the system needs to be replaced as the root cause for all of these issues cannot be fixed due to the age of the furnace. Choice sent the technician out a third time to take pictures to verify what they had in their report which they did.

    Instead of processing the claim for a new furnace Choice ordered a second opinion stating that the technician's notes stated they could not diagnose the problem so they could not fix it. This is a lie because the technician walked me through everything he was entering in the notes (the problems shared above) as he was reporting them to Choice. No new technician has been contracted by choice and it is now December 18th and about 20 degrees outside. They have not appropriately escalated or expedited any of this (we are now over a month into the process since the claim was originally filed). I would never do business with Choice Home Warranty again nor would I recommend them to anyone. If you are looking for a home warranty avoid this company at all costs as they do not follow through with the "Service when you need it" claims that they make on their website.

The representative told me the generalities of the coverage and referred me to the website. I signed up and extended the service to a five year contract. Needless to say the exclusions in the contract are numerous and my repairs were not covered. I honestly am considering the cancellation of my remaining contract. Looking at the repairs I have made in the past ten years very few are covered. Also there are caps on the coverage not discussed at the time of sign up.

    I think 1 star rating is too much. Looks like a total scam to me. Every time I make a claim they reject it by either saying, "You didn't maintain it or it's a part of normal wear and tear." Then after appeals they pay like 50% of the cost of the repair every time I made a claim. My current repair was also declined. I just want them to refund the insurance premium since they aren't going to process any claims ever. The only claims they actually refunded were some bathroom clogging and you don't need an insurance company for that normally. It would be interesting to see how many claims they actually process in a class action suit and audit. Reminds me of the movie The Rainmaker.

    This is the worst company ever. 3 claims none paid. Doesn’t offer repair folks for reasonable response time. Does not pay claims. Does not send customer service communication as stated, still no email or forms to complain after multiple calls. They call you with automated response for appointments but no such appointment exists with technicians so then you wait another 24 hour period for response. Yet you have no hot water, ridiculous doesn’t cover it. I prepaid for 5 year policy, MONEY WASTED. Buyer beware.

    First, understand that warranty companies only make money when the amount you pay for the agreement is less than what they have to pay. With some customers they lose, and with others they come out ahead. I understand how businesses operate; on average, they need to make money to stay in business. If you are signing up because your house is old and has a lot of problems, realize that many of the needed repairs will likely be excluded. Don't expect to get new appliances when one breaks down. Before you sign up and pay, read the agreement in detail. If you understand the problems in your home, you can make an informed decision. I can understand they can't cover everything, so if you do decide to get a policy, realize they only cover a specific subset of issues; There is a very high likelihood that the repairs you need covered will NOT be covered.

    My mistake was not reading the fine print closely enough. I knew there were some exclusions, but I had some claims denied due to exclusions that were debatable. Some exclusions are fairly clear, others not so clear. The first repair we had was a water heater that started leaking. It was actually an excluded item because it was due to corrosion, but they paid a portion anyway when I told them I simply wanted to cancel the policy. I thought that was nice. Other repairs were declined. Freon leaks for refrigerators are not covered, failure due to age or corrosion, plumbing leaks in the foundation/slab, Also realize what the refund policy is; I didn't read it closely enough. We purchased a five year plan for $1,750.

    We spent many, many hours on the phone trying to get CHW to cover some repairs, and finally in frustration we cancelled about two years into the agreement. We ended up getting nothing back. I figured we would get some money back, but the fine print says that the refund amount will be the pro rata amount, less any service charges. Had I known I would not have cancelled. It would have been nice if the person who "helped" us with the cancellation had let us know we would get nothing back. For CHW, they get to keep the full amount paid with no further obligation. The only cost is another frustrated customer who might post a negative review.

    Overall I would have been better off financially if I never signed up; at best for us it was break-even. If I place a value on the frustration from dealing with the claims process and the MANY hours wasted trying to get them to cover charges, this was a colossal waste. Some of the people at CHW were polite and professional, but others we spoke with were just plain rude, and failed to respond to emails and phone calls.

    Some people might have better luck than me, but I do NOT recommend Choice Home Warranty. I do acknowledge my lack of attention to the details of the fine print contributed to this, but in the end, it was the unprofessional manner of some in the claims process that led us to make another irrational decision and cancel when I am SURE they knew we would get nothing back. They said NOTHING to us about getting nothing back in the cancellation. We had to call to be told this. There was no other communication with us that we were not entitled to a refund.

    I bought the warranty and 4 months later my heat pump went out. They sent out a service rep to diagnose it. It cannot be repaired and they refused to replace it. They have a clause that if you have any type of corrosion, they can refuse to repair. Replace whatever is wrong. This is really a crappy company and I will make every effort to steer people away from them. Customer service is a pain and they are not helpful.

    We have had Choice warranty for a little over two years now and to say they are horrible is being humble. They are the worst. First, it has taken them at the very least a week to send out a technician. Every single technician we have had has been unprofessional and clueless as to how to fix the problem. Second, they almost cover nothing, the policy states that they cover a lot but when it comes to getting something fix there is a clause that prevents them from covering it. I once had a claim that took 6 weeks to get resolved. Lastly customer service is not any better, they always refer you to a manager who seems never to know how to resolve any of the issues. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

    I purchased a contract on a home I bought that was foreclosed on. I had never had a contract with Choice Home Warranty but internet review seemed positive. First call was for a refrigerator that quite running. It was about 2 weeks before a technician came. He said it couldn't be repaired. After a couple more days I was informed it wasn't covered because of poor maintenance. Next the nice looking dual fuel range door latch kept locking and unlocking. The technician assigned y couldn't look at it for over two weeks. Since I had new tenants paying good rent I got my own technician who told me the main board failed causing the latch to malfunction and the parts were no longer available. He talked to authorizations and told me they would allow $400 but I almost immediately was told it was denied as the door latch burned out the main board and doors are not covered.

    The third was a water heater that would not stay lighted. The technician said it needed replaced. The claim was denied as they said the technician said there was a leak in the tank and the water put the flame out. Tanks are not covered. There was absolutely no water leak. I appealed each time and was immediately denied and the original reason for denial parroted. The technicians offered to talk to them but that was not entertained. It seems the findings are spun so that the claim can be denied. I then checked with the Better Business Bureau and found there were more than 5000 complaints!

    Choice Home Warranty has found many ways to not live up to what they promise. My water heater went out and the technician that came out said they have never approved one getting fixed in his years in doing business. Then they gave me ridiculous limits for things to be housed under to fall into being covered contractually. My water heater developed a leak irreparable leak and because of it is excluded from being fixed. The leak would have been normal wear and tear as no one does anything to their water heater. The pressure reducing valve needs to be replaced. They decided not to cover that either. I have found that the services you sign up for, are not really covered and they are to seem like they are. I worry that if they need to replace my roof they will find a way to not cover that just because it is on top of my home.

    First off, you stated someone would get back to us within 1 working day, well it was almost 3 working days, if I had not called. The other, not sure why we have to beg to get more money on a replacement. Do not care for your pricing, because no one can buy at the value you say you can buy replacements for. Case in point, my washer, you said $299.99. Well my cost on sale was $398.00 plus $20.00 to remove old unit, then we have tax, so add 8% at least. Begging I finally got $350.00 out of you, so your full replacement as stated, is false advertising.

    Second, the speed. This is my second claim in what 3 years. The other was Air conditioning. Oh by the way stuff never breaks down on weekdays! My air, in summer time, was crazy, called on Saturday and you said can't get anyone until Monday. 115 degrees, really!!! So I called folks and got it fixed, again had to beg for money, but only got about 75% of what I paid to stay cool, which I was not when it broke. Well anyways, trust me I will not be renewing my warranty with you folks. Sorry but you need to be more fair and have faster service.

    I have had CHW for three years and this is the time to change to another company. Hot Water Heaters are suppose to be covered but if you have a leak from tank or non tank location it is Not covered. I am so disappointed because on the initial call they made a determination not to cover even though no service person had looked at it.     Wouldn't even pay for a new thermostat for furnace/heating repairs. No labor for ducts under the house that had come unhooked. You're paying for a piece of paper nothing else. I didn't purchase this policy. It came w/ the house which was just another way for my Title People to keep more money. I'm going back to my apartment and giving this money pit back to the bank.     This company does not follow the expert repairman's diagnosis but automatically declines the claim stating that the appliance was not well maintained despite the fact that you have receipts from companies that performed maintenance work every year. The contract states that the life of appliances is 13 years but when your appliance dies after 13 years they decline a repair or replacement. This company is guilty of fraud as far as I'm concerned.

    Washing machine over flowed into kitchen sink. I called Choice they sent a plumber who said he had to call his crew but not to worry I would just owe him $60. The crew he sent I later found out paid him extremely well for the reference. They packed every thing from the kitchen cabinets and laundry room assuring me that my only cost would be my homeowner deductible. They then removed my kitchen sink and cabinets assuring me that when the plumbing is finished all would be put back together.

    That was over a week ago. Plumbing isn't fixed because Choice denied the plumbers claim. Said it was a homeowner policy problem. Homeowner insurance agrees with everything but the plumbing repair says that is a Choice responsibility. In the meantime while Choice does its best to weasel out of the claim I am going to have Christmas without a kitchen. Take my advice and stay away from CHOICE HOME WARRANTY COMPANY. My experience leads me to believe they are professional scam artists.

I spoke with a claims manager this morning to ensure I could call my own plumber AND named the one they took 14 day to dispatch on a plumbing claim mos ago and state that co was NEVER to be sent to my home again.     This was the first time I used the warranty.     So far so good. I just got it, but I have a long experience with other home warranty. I still evaluating it, so the real review will be after I open claim and they start to processed it. There is where things start to get interesting and there is where you understand what you dealing with. more review to come certainly. Hope they will be all positive. So far all good, I recommend to try, and also ask for more grace period (get your full refund), because you have 30 day of grace period, but you are allowed to open your first claim after 30 days of purchase.

    BEWARE CHOICE, If their Dollar limit for a system is $1000 and a $10 part inside of a $2000 piece of equipment within the system fails and is no longer available and you need to purchase an entire new unit for $2000, they will only pay you $10 of your system and not the $1000 max allowed. Their policy is written so ambiguous. They have multiple ways to limit their liability and screw you over. American Home Shield is 100% a better product.

    I would be very careful about using Choice for your warranty needs, they denied a claim on a 17-year old AC unit claiming it was not normal "wear & tear" even though the on-site tech advised that was the case. When I attempted to escalate/dispute with Choice management they dodged my calls and never returned multiple attempts to reach them via email and directly over the phone. I later discovered there is a class-action lawsuit in AZ regarding this company for misleading consumers regarding claims and denying services so I have included myself as part of this suite. I will never use them again nor recommend to anyone.

    Our initial experience with Choice Home Warranty was positive. We had a good and friendly salesperson who informed us of discounts available for us and did not try to hard sell us on what we didn't want or need. Our first negative experience was at the end of the first year when our water heater went out. It was an older unit, and we could not fault Choice for the fine print of our contract which stated they would not cover failure of a water heater because of corrosion brought about by age. We didn't like it, but we understood why the claim wasn't covered. We moved shortly thereafter, and we decided to go with Choice again. We began to regret it at once.

    This time, we had a sales agent who was one of the rudest salesperson I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. Not only did he try to sell us what we did not want, but he was aggressive, disrespectful, and would not take no for an answer. When I told him firmly we weren't interested in his sales-pitch, he spoke in a derogatory manner and hung up on us. We almost canceled.

    Now we wish we had. We had a routine service call for a leaky washer during which it was determined that there was an abnormal tear in our washer boot-seal. Apparently, Choice's default mode is to consider any failure of equipment that cannot be repaired on the spot as "normal" wear and tear for which they aren't responsible. In short, they rejected our claim. This leaves us wondering what they actually will cover, although technically all our major appliances are "covered" by our plan. Apparently, their reflex mode is "Sorry, not our problem." I would encourage consumers to call a few service companies in their area to determine what locals consider to be the best home warranty service.

    Earlier I had posted a One-Star Review for Choice Home Warranty because of a disappointing resolution of a claim on an HVAC component. Prior to posting that review I had tried unsuccessfully to reach a more equitable solution. When it didn't happen, I turned to social media. Within hours of that posting, I was contacted by Choice Home Warranty with a very acceptable offer to "make it right". I accepted the offer and rescinded my policy cancellation. In light of the quickness of their response and their desire to do the right thing, I have to give Choice Home Warranty 5 stars. Any large corporation can and will err on occasion -- that's to be expected. But it's difficult to continue to be critical when that company is willing to correct the error and offer an equitable resolution. So I will continue to maintain a healthy business relationship with this company.

They do, however, perform a lot of work for other home warranty companies. A main board went out of one the units, and the repair estimate was $431. Upon filing a claim with Choice Home Warranty, they asked for the technician to give them a call, which he did. CHW gave him authorization to effect the repair -- at my expense, but said that I would receive reimbursement within a reasonable amount of time. And this happened. But the amount of reimbursement was $140, about 1/3 of the total cost.

    While I did not expect full reimbursement because my vendor was not on their list, I certainly expected the amount to be closer than 1/3! I left a message on my account page regarding this issue, and if it isn't resolved more equitably, I'll be forced to cancel my contract and seek out another company with whom to do business.

    We have had Choice Home Warranty for over 2 years. We have never filed a claim this year against our home warranty plan. In November we have to make over 8 phone calls to have choice find someone to correct our heating issue. After we put in the claim we continued to get emails from choice home warranty that they were unable to find anyone to provide services for the problem with our heating.

    We ended up having to go to weeks without heat our home temperature was at 58゚. We finally were able to have someone come out to our home However when the technician came to the home and was able to identify the issue I made a decision that my family needed to be kept warm instead of freezing waiting for choice home warranty to provide an authorization to have the work done to repair the heating unit However because of the Fact that we had the heating unit repaired because our home was almost below 40 choice home warranty made the decision not to repair our system.

    As stated previously we have had no claims this year with choice home warranty however at the rate we pay per year not to include what we pay out of pocket for our the actual service call cost that we must pay for a technician to even come out to determine the problem, they completely disrespected the help of my elderly disabled mother as well as myself in my husband who are US Army veteran servicemembers and completely disabled.

    To all my fellow service women and service men and arms I highly recommend the That you will not do any service with this company. You will end up paying more out of pocket than for the services and the problems that you will encounter trying to have your items in your home repaired. This is no way to treat a customer who pays close to To include service cost Indian mound of over $700 a year. This company is a waste of time I don't care what any other individuals have wrote about this company but I am I advocate for providing reviews for people so they know the truth about how a company works.

    I would not recommend choice to anyone they are the most company serviced more than customer service their main objective is to place you in a position where they benefit from your service and your fees more than you do. Furthermore I would also say that as a disable veteran and my husband being disable veteran for a toll of 32 years this is the most disrespectful service provider. I would never recommend them to my worst enemy. They are the worst home warranty plan. Stay away from them.

    Finally, Even the representatives who are tasks to help the Individuals who are tasked to take care of customers lack the basic sympathy or empathy to take care of a customer even if they have to make one exception. Every single person is treated in a black-and-white manner which is not possible. Do not use choice home warranty. Do not use choice home warranty. They are a scam and they will have you pay more to make you think that you will receive awesome services but will actually receive the worst customer service and the longest wait time for what they deem a pay back if you have to pay out of pocket or a service.

    I called in to renew my warranty a little late. it expired about 3 weeks ago. The call started great but I felt the salesperson was a bit aggressive. I was clear I only wanted to renew for what the offer was (1 year plus 2 months complimentary).     Recently switched from one other top rated home warranty company to Choice Home warranty. The call started out straightforward enough. I just wanted to sign up for a one year contract. The salesperson informed me of better deals if I would sign up for a three year contract and I told them, I just wanted to try the one year contract for now. He persisted with pushing the three year contract to the point that I was fixing to back out of the whole deal.     Choice Home Warranty - Water heater claim. When we signed up for a Choice Home Warranty, they convinced us to pay extra to insure our Seisco tankless electric water heater which we agreed to do and paid extra. They told us that if anything goes wrong with the heater and it is does not work, they would fix or replace it. On September 28th 2019, the heater stopped working and we called in a claim. After some days, a technician called and said he was sure it was the circuit board and he would try and find another one. He could not locate one, but came out to look at the unit anyway. He did some testing and said there was 220 volt power going into the unit, but the circuit board was not sending power to the heating elements. He also said one of the inlet sensing units looked bad which he removed and cleaned. He said it may have had some sediment on it but was working properly.

    He left and said he would try and get a board, but that the Seisco company was out of business a few years ago. The claim was assigned to a case manager (Paula) and she said because sediment was mentioned in the report, Choice was not going to cover it. I told the office technicians should realize that the electric circuit board does not come in contact with any water so sediment has nothing to do with the problem. The circuit board is not working and that is the problem and a covered item by Choice. We also had our water tested and the report came back it is a perfect water supply. Paula said she would check with her supervisor. I called her back every few days, no response, then was told she was no longer with the company.

    After some days I called and was told Andy was my case manager. Finally spoke to him and he would get the unit repaired or replace the heater and would talk to the technician. I called him every few days, his voice mail said he would get right back to me. Had to request the supervisor of the case managers have somebody call me. Andy finally called on November 14th to say they would not cover any repairs on the unit, claim was closed. I then had to buy a new unit (boards not available) myself and have it installed. The new installer tested the old circuit board and it was not working and when removed and drained the old unit, there was no sediment inside the unit, it was an electrical circuit problem and should have been covered by Choice.

    We now have hot water after 2 months. Choice knew replacement parts were not available and they did not want to pay for a new unit. Choice did a terrible job of diagnosing the problem, weeks of delays in calling us back, and did not cover an item that they should have. Before this claim we had a clothes dryer that stopped and they sent a repair company that came out 4 different times to install 4 different parts to try and fix it and it still runs very hot during operation. Choice is very poor to deal with, I would not recommend them as a warranty company and we are going to cancel our contract with them. We will also be posting these comments on Facebook, CR, and other social networks.

    Our garbage disposal began to leak so I called Choice Home Warranty who contacted Vail Plumbing. A serviceman came out the same day and determined the old unit could not be repaired. He took a photo on his phone and sent it CHW right from my home. CHW authorized him to replace the unit in about 2 hours time and he returned the next day and installed a new garbage disposal.
