    This company is horrible, poor customer service and communication. Their contractors for the most part are unprofessional and have poor ratings. If I could give a zero rating I would or even speak to someone about our experiences with them! Asked once to speak to customer service and they hung up on us! Had a issue with a contractor, they have to send it to another department, took 2 weeks to deal with and eventually hired our own plumber to fix a leak and blockage. Do Not Use this company.

    I would recommend Choice Home Warranty for not only those who have bought new homes, but for those who have existing homes. It is nice to be able to have some of the more expensive bills covered with only a small out of pocket expense. I like that we are given the option to find our own vendor, get approved and be reimbursed. That is a fairly seamless process that I find works well if the vendor is agreeable to send in the particular information so that the job is approved. I have used this option twice and have been reimbursed within 4 weeks.

    I had my first issue with my washing machine and the technician determined it was more costly to repair but Choice elected a buyout against my wishes giving me just 1/3 of what it will cost to replace it and have refused to replace it at that cost that they claim they could purchase it.     This is the worst company to work with. It's a scam, stay away, call center is in the Philippines and people are rude and hard to understand. They use the cheapest companies they can find to do repair and warranty work. Do not fall for any lies they tell you. The sales team are Americans but after that, you deal with Philippine people to resolve your problem. No good. You have been WARNED!!!

    The customer service agents and case managers have been rude. By rudeness I mean interrupting, overtalking, lack of empathy, heavily sighing, sarcasm, short/irritated tone. Choice is not HVAC certified and will make decisions (denying claims or parts of your claims) that will leave your home not up to code, or things that could cause a fire or gas hazard. Choice DOES NOT follow the manufacturer's recommendations for repair. They repair the CHEAPEST parts possible. One of their own technicians Mark's Excellence told me they are "snakes". Technicians have to fight the internal department at Choice to get claims approved. This causes extra work for the technicians that most of them don't want to do. Therefore the diagnostics are sub par. They are more like a triage. They do the bare minimum to get the system working but not actually fix it. They more or less put a bandaid on it and leave other things undiagnosed on purpose.

    This is our first time having to use Choice Home Warranty. Our a/c went out and we called Choice. They had a repairman out the next day and we were satisfied with the repairman. He determined the compressor was bad. He reported it to Choice and it took two days for them to get back to the repairman to authorize a portion of the repair. Choice will pay for the compressor but not for the other parts that also need to be replaced because the new compressor won’t be able to work with the older parts. Our repairman said both parts need to be replaced for the entire unit to work. Choice’s loophole says that only the compressor is faulty and is covered but the other parts are an “upgrade” and they will not cover the cost. Contract is very misleading as it says all parts are covered. We will be looking for a different warranty company when our contract runs out. Been without A/C in July in Florida for 5 days due to Choice inaction.

    This company is an organized scam. You are better off without home warranty than wasting money and time here. Here is a timeline of events that happened with me.

    6/26/2022: My refrigerator stops working and I file a claim.
    6/28/2022: Claim assigned to a technician scheduled to come on July 18th (almost a month later which is absolutely ridiculous).
    7/14/2022: I get a phone call from Sears that they don't have any technician availability and I will have to reschedule for August. (sounds outrageous, right?)
    7/14/2022: I reach out Choice and they give me ok to hire my own technician.
    7/18/2022: Technician comes and diagnoses a sealed system fault which he thinks is not worth repairing and recommends replacing the refrigerator. He submits the diagnosis online in front of me.
    7/19/2022: I call Choice and they say that they have not received a diagnosis. I get in touch with the technician and he submits a diagnosis again which is finally received by Choice.
    7/19/2022: A technician is assigned who is scheduled to come on August 17th (a month later and 2 months after the fridge broke down).
    7/19/2022: I call Choice and after hearing the usual babbling and apologies, they tell me that they have sent a message to the technician to call me and schedule an earlier appointment.
    7/20/2022: I don't hear back anything from the technician so call Choice again and have to listen to the babbling and apologies again and am told that the August 17th appointment will be canceled and another request for a sooner appointment has been sent out.
    7/20/2022: I get a message in the evening that I can again hire my own technician and will be reimbursed.

    7/21/2022: I call Choice and ask them why I am hiring a technician again when I already had a technician come and tell me that the fridge should be replaced. I ask them if I can order a fridge and if I will be reimbursed. The lady tells me that I need to get it checked out again and submit another diagnosis. I ask her that, "Why do I need to get a technician to look at it again when he looked at it 3 days ago and already submitted the diagnosis." She goes on repeat mode and repeats the same thing over and over again without giving me an answer to my question. I request to talk to a supervisor or someone with some common sense and she says no.

    After wasting so much time and energy I finally gave up and ordered a refrigerator from Home Depot which is arrived yesterday. I submitted the receipts and haven’t heard anything back and have absolutely no hopes that I will be paid. I could have had all this done a month ago if it wasn't for Choice Home Warranty. Essentially I wasted my money paying for home warranty, wasted my time and energy on all the back and forth, was without a refrigerator for a whole month and had to pay out of pocket in the end.

    Overall, I’ve been satisfied. I was fortunate that I have three properties that I use Choice Home Warranty for. I paid upfront for so many years. It was $6,000. They have come through on some things. On others, not so much. It depends on their technician, who they bring to your house, who they cooperate with. They could do a better job of finding a more qualified or more professional technicians. I recently had a claim for garbage disposal. And it has been a year since I made a claim for a plumbing issue that I had. Choice sent out a plumber to fix a leak when I had a tenant in the property, and told me the tenant it was fixed. The tenant kept on using the bathtub like a bath. And when they would drain, there was a leak. It would flood the bathroom a bit. I called another technician. The technician came out, didn't loosen any drains, didn't do anything.

    The technician came in, sat on the edge of the bathtub, looked at the drain from four feet away, looking down at it. And looked at the crawl space. All of this took maybe four minutes for him to determine the issue. And it was an issue that Choice wouldn't cover according to him. And told me but if I pay him $150 right then, he would fix it for me. Or he could call Choice and sit on the line for a bit, and that would take some time. I said, “Nah, I'm okay. I'll wait and see what Choice says.”

    I went and got a tool to unscrew the bathtub drain. I lined up the pipe to the bottom of the drain in the bathtub. When I did, this washer came out and it was cracked. So that was where the leak was coming from. I went to Lowe's. I bought the same washer, I brought it back. I put it on, I tightened it up. I paid over 100 bucks for two technicians to come out but both of them didn't do the job. It was a $4 washer and it flooded my tenant’s place enough to where it went into the laminate and it buckled the laminate. I had to replace the whole floor.

    But the good thing is one time I had an air conditioner go down at one of my units. And they came up with 3,000. I think it was $3,000 where they said they'll pay out $3,000 for me to hire someone and get a AC. Luckily the ACs were only around 5,000 at the time. So to pay 2,000 and get a new AC unit at one of your units when you only put down 6,000 off the bat, that's a decent payout. So, they've done some good. But sometimes, you get a couple bad apples, like in the technicians. It depends on qualified professional people. I've seen it a few times when you can tell a tech will come in here and spend 10 minutes. Because they're gonna get that service coffee. And you can make a living just going from place to place, taking service coffee.

    I signed up with Choice Home Warranty with a 5 year plan. They provided an extra year so for the value, it was pretty good. We've had some issues with CHW like telling them our water pressure regulator was leaking, they send out a repairman who tells them the water pressure regulator needs to be replaced, only to be told it was not covered. They could have told me that when I first called, saving me the $45 service call fee. But then CHW sent me a Lowe's gift card when my microwave couldn't be fixed and we had to buy a brand new unit. They gave us $200 towards the $350+ new microwave. So we're happy to have a new working microwave. All said, pretty good value for the peace of mind insurance.

    The rating reflects my overall experience with CHS and not just the incident below. I have been a long-term previous customer. I always liked the fact that I can pick my own service repair company and had mostly positive experiences with the service providers. I had let my policy go for a few years and decided to research a new policy. I received a call to discuss my interest the following morning. My first words were, I am having a bite of food before I go to work – or something very similar. I mentioned that the rates had gone up significantly so I had to give this some thought. The sales representative said, "Let me speak to my manager about a discount" and came back with a 20% discount offer. I said sure.

    After receiving my information, the sales rep then asked if I wanted to purchase multiple years for an additional discount. I said no. He then broke down the savings. I said no again. He then wanted to explain how much money I would be saving if I would just agree to even 3 years. I said no again and he started to speak again. I politely yet firmly said that if he could not accept that I agreed for one year only, I wanted to cancel and I would have to call back when I actually had time. He then quickly said ok and hustled off the phone. I understand this is a sales job but a literal stranger should not be hounding a person about why they should be comfortable spending more than $1,000 of their money.     It took CHOICE well over 72 hours to locate a technician to repair/replace my broken JVAC-Compressor. Once the technician was selected... I was told by the technician it would be an additional 3-5 days before he was able to visit and determine the reason the A/C system not working. I called back to CHOICE and gave them the information I had been told it would another 4-5 more days before someone would come to my home to make the necessary repairs. I called a personal friend and asked him for the name & phone # of his HVAC repair service (HE HAD JUST INSTALLED A NEW HVAC SYSTEM), The technician was called and one hour later the technician had replaced the electrical switch that turns on/off the compressor. I then immediately called CHOICE and cancelled the work order.

    If I could give NO STARS that is what you would get! Please note that the plumber that came out was very nice however your warranty company makes false assumptions and uses skewed options when determining if a claim is approved or not. We have only filed 2 claims with this company since we purchased this policy and both times you have based your denials on inaccurate information. The sheer audacity of your claims adjusters insinuating that the issues were preexisting or caused by misuse or abuse is completely ludicrous and unwarranted.     We have paid IN FULL for CHOICE home warranty services which includes our A/C units. We have had CHOICE technicians come out 3-4 times to service the AC. When a technician came out the week off June 27, 2022 we were advised that a schrader valve needed to be replaced and freon added. After several days of following up a technician returned to replace the valve and add freon. The same AC unit failed again on 7/23/22 and another claim was submitted. A technician came out on 7/26/22 and said he found a leak in the evaporator coil. This was not noted on the last call which is a failure of the previous technician. We filed a claim to have the evaporator coil replaced which CHOICE denied citing our policy did not cover rust and corrosion. We contacted them to advise this was NOT the cause of the leak and the technician was contacted who also confirmed the evaporator coil did NOT fail due to rust and corrosion.

    An appeal manager contacted us on 7/26/22 at 1530 to continue to tell us that the policy does not cover rust and corrosion and despite the technician acknowledging that the coil is NOT corroded or rusted CHOICE continued to deny our claim. They said they would offer us $250 towards a repair despite an earlier member offering us $300. We said to cancel our policy and were told that we would be charged a $50 early cancellation fee. When we requested that be waived we were flatly told NO. The manager continued to interrupt us and speak to us in a flat tone ignoring our pleas to be heard.

    When we asked for our money back and advised the manager to stop speaking to us in a flat tone she replied "You don't have to be racist and say ** tone". We attempted to tell her that we said "flat tone" but she immediately hung up the phone! We are disgusted at the handling of our situation and are very angry at how CHOICE has misrepresented their services, the despicable way in which the representatives have spoken to us and (mis) handled our account at every turn!

    Had put in a claim May 15, 2022 for our home AC. I the over 2 months since they sent 2 different techs out. Neither did their review satisfactorily for the company to be willing to act on the fact that both said the unit was beyond repair. On two other occasions they arranged for techs to come out. Both times no one showed or called.

    I have filed 3 claims with this company. The first one was for my refrigerator not cooling. The Technician did not file the diagnosis to have the repair approved. I waited 3 weeks to be reassigned. I ended up paying for the repair myself and waiting to be reimbursed a fraction of the actual cost of the repair. My 2nd claim is for dishwasher, this technician has not submitted the diagnose for repair it has been 5 days.

    The last and final claim is for my AC not cooling. The first technician assigned was the same company that came out for the refrigerator. I wrote to them saying I did not want this company to handle the repair. They reassigned me to another company, but this company can not come out for a week. It is 95+ degrees and I have no AC. I called and was told there was no earlier appointment. I asked to pay for the repairs and be reimbursed but was told that because they have scheduled a technician (more than 24 hours after the claim was reassigned and per my first conversation if it took longer than 24 hours to find a technician I could hire my own and be reimbursed) that I did not qualify to be reimbursed. I am going to have to out of pocket the repair. No way we can wait more than a week to have this issue resolved. Switching to another company!

    I put in a claim because my drain was backing up into the toilet and tub. I was promptly given a claim number and plumber and date the plumber would coming to fixed the problem. I took off work to be home for the plumber but the plumber never arrived. I tried calling the number given 3 times but no answer from the plumber. The next day I called Choice and explained that the plumber never showed or answered the number given. The Choice representative proceeded to tell me that the date was changed and it was my responsibility to call the plumber who did not answer and make arrangements. He stated the new date and again the plumber did not show up on that date nor did he answer the phone.

    I called Choice again and and again explained the problems and the representative tried calling the plumber with no answer. She then got a new plumber who came out to fix the problem. I should not had to take off 3 working days because I was not notified that the plumber Choice hired did not show up to perform the hired task. And it was not my responsibility to try and make contact with plumber on any occasions when told by Choice the date and time the plumber was arriving. Choice did a poor job of not notified me because I lost two day of wages. I am looking to go with another company who VALUE their customers.

    The tech that came to diagnose the problem was great. I would give them 5 stars. My AC unit is less than 2 years old and the parts are covered under the manufacturer's warranty. CHW said they would cover ALL costs (parts & labor) but denied the claim because the faulty compressor is covered under a manufacturer's warranty, which would mean CHW would not have to cover the cost of parts and only cover labor. It does not make sense to me to deny this type of claim and I just paid them $1,642 to renew my policy starting in August... I now know where I can find the cash to pay for the repair they won't cover.

    First, for the positive things. The customer service was always helpful and professional. Also, the contractor that they sent out to look into what was wrong with our washing machine was wonderful. I would 100% hire him again. Last thing, their communication was very efficient and fast. We got some form of communication regarding everything while the issue was ongoing within 24 hours, whether that was just a notification that a date was scheduled for the contractor or a callback, or an email update with how things were going.

    The main reason for the very negative score is because of what ended up happening with our washer. The contractor came out and said that it couldn’t be fixed. Choice Home Warranty fought with him for about 20 minutes trying to convince him that we had somehow broke in the washer so that they wouldn’t need to replace it, rather than just taking his word for it the first time. After that, Choice home warranty said they were going to give us a gift card to Lowe’s so we could just purchase a new one. This is where the problem happened. An equivalent washing machine on the cheaper side would cost around $600.

    Choice wanted to send us $343, about half of that. When we called and asked why, the answer we were given was that it wasn’t eligible based on the machine we had, but we had compared prices and it would be impossible to replace the appliance with the amount offered. We really appreciate the customer service, however it is not a good practice to lie to your customers and say that you will replace something, when you won’t actually replace it in full.

    I first contacted Choice at the beginning of June to file a claim for my AC not cooling appropriately. Several weeks went by and I didn’t hear from them. I called Choice and was told a technician had been scheduled already but I was supposed to work that day. Choice rescheduled this for me but the whole thing happened again. They had me call the tech directly that time. The tech said he had told Choice he couldn’t accept any claims that week because he had been exposed to Covid.

    I called Choice back and they scheduled another tech (2 weeks later). This tech didn’t show. I called him and he said he told Choice he didn’t accept the claim because he was going on vacation. Another tech was scheduled and showed up on 7/22. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem but it was something Choice said they don’t cover. So I waited over a month and a half with bad air conditioning to be told they won’t cover it. Very frustrating! They need to work on their communication with the customer and the HVAC companies. I would not recommend them!!!

    I have had several appliances that I needed to replace. The first one as a stove. The check they sent didn't cover a fraction of the cost of a new stove. Then we needed our air conditioners replaced. They have a $3000 limit on the replacement of HVAC equipment.     The technicians who made this call were polite, knowledgeable and extremely professional. My problem is with Choice Warranty customer service. I turned in a claim for a kitchen sink stoppage. The technicians found the stoppage caused by the disposal which they had to replace. Choice Warranty made me call in a separate claim so that I had to pay an additional $75. As the customer I am not required to crawl under my sink to take the pipes apart to see where exactly the stoppage was, I talked to Yvette after they left and explained my dissatisfaction and she was very rude and her mind was already made up and she would not even seriously listen to me. When I called in the request for the disposal Choice issued my a new number and a new day for the technicians to come so it would look like there were 2 service calls but they were here and installed right then. I think I have a $75 credit coming to me.
