We upgraded our Cal Spas tub with a newer model and it has less features than our previous tub. We prefer the old one, which we had for quite a few years and had no drama with. But its cabinet was starting to deteriorate so it was time to upgrade. With the new one, we've been fighting a battle with the water clarity, which is the biggest issue we've had. We also had another issue which Cal Spas warrantied and took care of. We've got a pretty good relationship with the dealer. However, they could have more locations. We live 70 miles away from the dealership and it is not as convenient as it could be to get water samples and stuff.

Cal Spas was recommended to me by a friend and after seeing them at a state fair last year, I got the six-seater hot tub. It's sitting on the patio and I use it for relaxation. The Cal Spas folks delivered and set it in place for me then I had an electrician connect it for me. I also sometimes drive over to Cal Spas to buy my chemicals and the team has been friendly and very knowledgeable.

A friend told us about Cal Spas. We felt that their spa was a lot sturdier and more heavy-duty built than the others. Their reps were also very nice and they were able to answer the questions we had. We bought a patio spa, they delivered it to us, and we installed it ourselves because we had to pay $500 to have it hooked up and that was a bit expensive. We've had the spa for six months now and we're enjoying it. We use it every day and the kids love it.

We moved into the house in 2016 and we knew we wanted a spa of some kind. Cal Spas had a gazebo structure and a soft base to put it on, which we had the space to use. It was the full package as well as a high-quality spa. The installation was more involved than the salesman said, but the installers did a bang-up job. They said all we needed was have the site mostly level, but when we arrived there they said it had to be absolutely level. Luckily, where we put the spa was readily accessible and we had a bunch of crushed rocks for resurfacing our backyard. They used that and leveled the site, then they put up the soft base, put the tub on and erected the gazebo. Then we called the electrical guy who finished the hook-up, which was a little more stressful and expensive.
The tub is a beautiful addition to the house. My wife is a nursing assistant and does a lot of lifting in her work. Her back would bother her and I have arthritis in my legs. The tub was wonderful and really helped both of us before I came down with ALS. In addition, the spa store people have been very responsive and good at helping out when we had problems. We're very satisfied with Cal Spas.

I saw Cal Spas at the state fair. Since they have a local retail outlet that was very close to me, I got our hot tub from them. The installation was fine. However, they referred an electrician who came out and unfortunately, I had some electrical problems afterwards that I had the Cal Spas distributor come back. They said the electrician did the wrong job wherein the electrical was installed improperly and I had to get new electronic parts. They also said that it wouldn't be covered by Cal Spas warranty and so I was disappointed.
The people who came back to fix the tub were doofuses. They said they didn't work for Cal Spas and they were a separate company yet it said Cal Spas on the van. I also told them that they were the ones who referred me this electrician and they were saying he did it wrong and so now, I've gotta pay a big bill to replace all these electronics. They said they refer people all the time and that doesn't mean anything. The whole thing was negative and I was unimpressed. They were not really eager to find a solution and just said what it would cost for the part to get replaced. But since I wanted to get the tub back up and running, they replaced the part. Other than that, I'm glad I have the tub. I use it once a week and my family uses about that often.

I love my Cal Spas spa. It's great and has a particular design that I like. Plus, I had a good installation experience. It was interesting since they had to bring a crane put the spa in. It has been with me for one year. Having it is really good and using it is relaxing. I have another Cal Spas product, a swim type style, that I've had for three years. I have an issue with the Bluetooth but I can’t get a hold of anybody. I think they might have closed down one of the stores where I had gotten my Cal Spas from. But they provide great customer service overall.

We bought a Cal Spa nearly 4 years ago for $14,000 and the main selling point was the lovely LED lights, and have had to have it fixed on two occasions. Both times were under warranty but the last problem was caused by the main light according to the technician that repair the main power board. "Common problem with the main light" he stated. We discussed this with the Cal Spas representative here in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia and was sent another main light to discover that it is the completely incorrect. My husband managed to take out the blown light and we started seeking a replacement. Emailed Cal Spas and was first told that the model wasn't a Cal spa and they couldn't help us.
We resent the email with pictures. They then sent us a link to the online ordering and we were offered the incorrect light. We then sent another email stating that the light was the wrong one and included in the email the item number of the light and the Model number of the spa for a third time. We finally got a link to the correct main light and was directed to the online ordering process. Can’t post to Australia from USA so we're unable to use the online ordering process. Another email was sent stating the problem and was told that they would order it on our behalf and wanted a contact phone number. Provided the information.
Received a return email stating that the part had been ordered but on the address for postage was our correct postal address except the country was USA. I sent another email, by this time I was quite frustrated, and was told that the part was no longer available. So at the end of the day, we have no lights on the spa and haven't solved anything. We are unable to locate a main light for the spa and no one at Cal Spas is able to assists us at all. Very disillusioned by the service offered to us. Anybody have an ideas???

We wanted a larger spa. We researched different spa companies and went to Cal Spas in the end. The interaction with their reps was pretty quick and the installation went fine. The only thing we didn't realize was how much maintenance there would be. We thought we'd be able to higher the floor spa for it but we couldn't. There was a lot more than we expected a little less way. We'd be less likely to recommend above ground spa but as far as Cal Spas, we would recommend it if somebody wanted one.

Years ago, we went to a Cal Spas store and bought a spa that we didn't have a problem with. It's a smaller one we had it in our home in Southern California. I bought another one which is big and it cost me about $1,200. There was a store that sold Cal Spas not far from where I live. The spa installation was all right but it cost quite a bit. I had to have a crane pick it, take it over the roof of my house and put it down. I then had to have an electrician come and makes changes.
But the salesman ordered the wrong cover for it when it came out to the house so he had to get another smaller cover. And since I paid more, they offered me the pool you use to exercise inside. I took that but they didn't offer to bring it to my house so we just recently picked it up. We're getting ready to install it but something happened. The latch of the spa is totally broken and the spa is starting to rust a little. The salesman said they would bring the latch and install a new one on the 22nd so I can't use the spa until then.
Also, the salesman had never been particularly helpful but he was responding to this mostly. But after I called and told him that I received a call, they were replacing the product. But nobody could tell how the latch could have been broken in this new spa. I am very dissatisfied. If they give some responses and somebody could determine what happened and how this would never happen again, that would be good. But so far, I certainly haven’t gotten my money’s worth out of my spa yet. I was injured and I’m still hurting. I am recovering and the warm water would help. I got the spa because I thought it could be some sort of convenience.

We have seen Cal Spas at the Minnesota State Fair over a year ago. We liked the idea of having a hot tub, and we got ours in September of last year. The experience is mediocre though. The guy who sold it to me told me that I could put it on gravel. But then, the store here locally said, "No, you can't." And so, I put down a sand base. They told me they would supply a free pad. But, when they delivered the hot tub, there was no pad. Also, the installer said it was fine to go on the sand, so they put in on the sand and left. And it was not leveled. The hot tub went down. They said that was good enough. They were in a rush. It was raining, so I got that they did not wanna be there. That was a pretty miserable day. Then, I did not interact with the store anymore because they cannot supply the pad.
Nevertheless, we enjoy the tub a lot every day. Just make sure you are there during delivery to make sure everything gets done correctly. Otherwise, everything works great and as it should. The unit itself is great, but the interaction with the sales technician at the state fair down to delivery was not a great experience.

I've used ConsumerAffairs and checked out some other spas. But Cal Spas was local to me within 15-20 miles so it made it a little easier to go see what they were all about rather than drive 50 miles to go visit another manufacturer. I decided to get a Cal Spas tub because of the number of the jets and the fact that it's 36 inches deep. It was big enough for me to sit in because I'm not a small guy. The installation part of it was okay. Deciding to buy the spa and writing up the contract was okay. But it was the interactions afterwards that I wasn't too happy about. The guy that said he would be available wasn't. The only time I could get a hold of him was through email and that would be three or four days or a week later.
Cal Spas tub seems to work okay as far as the jets and the pumps and all that. But it's expensive to run. It's got two 6 horsepower pumps in it, which seem to work. But it doubles or triples my electric bill. So what benefit am I getting from it if I can't afford to run it? I spent $8000 and it doesn't do me any good. The spa was a little expensive. But I like nicer things so I bought it anyway. I also bought it for medical reasons because I have a back issue and a knee issue and I was trying to get some kind of a water therapy for my back. The first few months was fun. It worked all right. But it's not giving me any benefit now. It's just sitting there. I've also thought about selling it and it's not even a year old. Plus I also could never get the chemicals right in it, which isn't really their fault.

We knew about Cal Spas through my wife's family and we bought our first tub when they were offering deals during the Minnesota State Fair. The rep was great. We would ask him the right questions and he answered them. They did a good job in the installation. When I got home from work, my wife said it was ready to go. The hot tub is great. It's more for my wife but my kids are enjoying it as well. I like that we can spend more time outside in the winter. When it's cold you don't hang out outside but you can in a hot tub.
I've been talking to a buddy of mine who is thinking about getting one and I told him that Cal Spas hot tub has a very good quality and works really well. I also told him to try to go with a bigger tub than what he thinks because the tub gets crowded as the kids start to grow. My tub's cover has broken already and they have the hydraulic one. We haven't had time to bring it in but hopefully, it's covered under warranty. I would recommend the Cal Spas tub.

The Cal Spas tub I bought was a special. It was a Jacuzzi and a tub with the gazebo. They gave me an excellent service when I purchased it and they worked with me. Everything was planned out perfectly with the installation and it went smooth. I'm down in the desert and there is no lake, so the tub is a nice thing to see. When I'm drained, I'd jump in the tub and feel I'm having a nice afternoon because of the water. The tub also brings the family a little closer and it gives a little smile on their faces. I’ve had the hot tub since August and it's been running great so far. Also, they've treated me good and they've never done me wrong.

We were getting rid of our pool and a hot tub was the other option. There were two providers at the fair but we liked Cal Spas better. Their salesman was good although he undersold how much work it's gonna be. He told us that all I gotta do was change the filters every month, but it was more of a surprise and it made it easier to buy it when it sounded like it’s very little maintenance than what it really is. We found our own electrician to do the wiring and did most of the work ourselves.
We’re glad we got the tub, but it took a while to get used to everything you gotta do, with the right amount of chemicals and when you need to do it. It’s a learning curve but we’re getting through that now and it seems to be a lot better. We enjoy the tub and we love it. We’ve looked at other companies but the quality of Cal Spas is better than anything else out in the market. A friend of ours bought from the other place at the same fair that we did and they regret going with the other company. Ours was a better deal and a better product.

I've had my Cal Spas hot tub for about five years. The work they did was fine but there were issues with getting it delivered. We bought it in the Twin Cities area, Metropolitan Minneapolis where we live, and we had it delivered 140 miles away. We ordered it in the fall and the model that we purchased was a floor model because they gave us a great deal on it. The issue that we had is that it had water in it when it was on the floor of the showroom. And in the interim of getting it taken off the showroom floor, drained, and delivered to Northwestern Wisconsin, it was early November so it froze.
I told their rep that maybe we should be putting antifreeze on the tub, but he said no and that it would be fine. So we had it installed, had an electrician come out, filled it up with water, and turned it on, then water started spraying everywhere. We had to go through several conversations and had the owner of the place call us. And my wife told him that we asked about putting insulation on the tub before since it was going to be delivered in November. He admitted that we had asked that specific question and eventually, we got a new tub and they made it right.
The whole process took three weeks. It was installed by the time we told them it had to be installed. We love our new tub and since the one that we’ve had the bad experience with, we bought a new one. And the second time, we bought the biggest non-swim spa that they have and they installed that last summer. It’s been awesome and they did everything correctly. We have a Master Spas at home that we like, but it’s old. And when that one goes in the next couple of years, we will probably buy another Cal Spas, because we like the spas. They seem to be well built and if something goes wrong, as long as they make it right at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.

Everything seems to be really good with Cal Spas. They are one of the better quality hot tubs. We bought ours at the Minnesota State Fair, and the people there who sold it were very good and helpful. However, we were told that it would be there four or five days, but we ended up waiting 20 days when they installed it. But, other than that, all was good. Also, a pipe froze this winter and they came out and took care of it. They got it out and replaced what they needed to replace, and they were very good about it. We had a tub prior to it before. Although, this one is a lot nicer and bigger. Also, both Brian and I have health issues. He has a really bad knee, and I had back surgery three years ago. There are times when we are hurting really bad, and we go sit in it and it helps. We had a really good deal on the hot tub. And we enjoy it.

They made sure we understood everything before they left and did a good job placing it and taking the old one away. The spa is just a great thing for the desert because you can cool down. Cal Spas has been in Sacramento for many years. I went out to a fair and talked to a couple of vendors out there and was really impressed with their knowledge and where they were located. Also, their showroom was nice. I just bought my spa in August. It seats five people. It’s a package deal where I got the steps, the cover and everything for about $3900. I got a good deal and they told me who to contact for financing and the financing has been good.
I was not impressed with the delivery at all though and the installation was awful. We were scheduled for 7:30 in the morning and they showed up at 6:30 on a weekday. We were still in bed and we had to jump up. Also, they had asked me to send in the measurements of my backyards and patio, which I did. But the tub was still too big, so we had to cut a part of my roof to get it there and the roof still hasn’t been fixed. But the tub is a really good product. I use it for about four times a week and it makes a big difference. I have somebody that comes every week to put the chemicals in and it has worked just fine as I didn’t wanna deal with chemicals. I sell insurance and work a lot of hours, so it’s nice that I have somebody that just comes once a week and test everything out for me.

We’ve been looking for a spa for some time through the vendor, and they began carrying Cal Spas. I was very happy with the people who sold us the spa. They were very knowledgeable. Then installing the spa went smoothly. The installers came when they said they were going to and installed it. It was a good experience. It's a little smaller than our older one, but we’re happy with it so far. We are enjoying it. We’ve already had a problem with it where we had to have them come out and fix it. One of the jets was broken when it was installed. And so, it wouldn’t work when we started using it. But I am hoping it’s just a one-off.
The only other thing that's kind of a negative, we had speakers installed in it, and where the Wi-Fi antennae is located makes it very difficult to connect to so it’s spotty. You can’t just go and turn on the speaker. You have to go and stand here and there and cross your fingers. We may end up having to take out the antennae and put it in a different location. But overall experience is good. Seems like a great spa. We haven’t had it a long time but we’re happy with it so far.

Cal Spas is refusing to warrant the spa claiming chemical abuse after reviewing a video I sent to them showing the caulking and plumbing coming apart. Model: Bel Air 851B, serial: 16S-005856, purchase date: 5-23-16, delivery date: 7-30-16. Numerous problem dates. Had to get a police detective to get the spa because the dealer went to jail and abandoned his business. Cal Spas would not help. Within 2 weeks the jets were blowing out, went back and forth with Cal Spas (Robert ** and Karen **) to get those replaced for 7 months. Started noticing white flakes in the water within the 1st year, called a Cal Spas dealer in Utah who refused to help and said it was hard water. Did a test to confirm it was not biofilm. Several filters broke from the bottom and ended up in the water. Reported that to the parts department, no response to several emails.
Spa cabinet is deteriorating and warping. Reported that to the Utah dealer and Cal Spas in October 2017. Also reported the spa had been tripping the breaker since the summer intermittently. Utah dealer refused to repair the issue as I was too far from his store (75 miles). Spoke to Cal Spas warranty department (Marfelia **) who agreed to let me find someone else willing to do the repair. The only closest company, Brady's (60 miles away) agreed. They replaced the control box and just put screws in the panels. Cal Spas did offer to replace the panels under warranty, but was going to charge me $114 to ship them, which I still dispute because they are covered under warranty. They also charged me to ship the control box, plus I had to pay the trip charge for the repairs, even though labor is covered under the warranty.
The repair did not fix the tripping issue and is now a daily occurrence, which they tried to blame on the power company at first, then the electrical work (which I had checked) and now they say maybe a new pump would help (at my expense, of course)...fact is, they have no idea what is causing this and I believe it is a stalling tactic until the warranty expires. Two weeks ago I did a water change. While cleaning the interior shell, I discovered that the sealant around ALL of the jets and the filter housing is coming off in chunks and has the consistency of putty, yet very sticky like tree sap. I tried to clean it off the best I could, but even touching it causes it to fall off. I filled the tub so it wouldn't freeze and it tripped the breaker 3 times during start-up. So, I took off the access panel to look inside for a leak.
At that time I noticed all of the plumbing is full of this sealant and then suspected that was the cause of the "white flakes" I had been seeing for the last year. I talked to Brady's and Cal Spas and also sent them both a video of the issue. I was advised to do a super chlorinated flush, even though I told them I just changed the water, the stuff will not come off my shell (let alone the pipes because it is too sticky) and that the sealant is not causing the breaker to trip (even though I was told by Brady's it could). Cal Spas asked for a photo of my pillows (which have some wear after almost 2 years-warrantied for 90 days) and now claim chemical abuse as the reason to not honor the warranty to fix the issue estimated at more than the cost of a new tub.
They claim that, although I am using the right chemicals, they believe I may have used too much and that caused the plumbing to fall apart, yet they advised me 2 days prior to do a super chlorination (which I did not do). If my supposed "high use" of chemicals would cause this, why wouldn't a super chlorination? The fact is, my water is always balanced and checked weekly or before I go in (1-2 times a week). I am very meticulous about the chemistry. I believe they are claiming this to intentionally void the warranty. I offered a water sample, but that does not stop them from claiming it could have happened "any time" within the time I have owned it. I believe Cal Spas is responsible for the manufacturing ERRORS of this tub that are causing it to now fall apart.
I issued a complaint against them and their response was, of course, still chemical abuse and they wanted me to provide a chemical analysis of the "white powder" (they said) that is floating in the water. Which is crazy because that "white powder" they are referring to is THEIR sealant and THEY should know what it is made of. And, now I'm curious what it is made of, too. Perhaps it is a hazardous substance that is putting my family's health at risk from being in the tub. But, as you see, yet again they are avoiding the issue and laying the responsibility on me, the consumer, to avoid warranting this hot tub. I have a video showing exactly what is happening because it is difficult to explain in writing. It can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjFWGDbZUvA&t=1s.

I am very satisfied with my decision to purchase a swim spa from Cal Spas. I got one for medical reasons and I've had it for about nine months now. Everything went smoothly with the installation. Since it's a swim spa, the area wasn't big enough so I had to dig out some dirt and had someone to put cement on there. Then when that was all done, the hot spa came. The installers had to lift it over with a crane, bring it down and set it right. The other guy was there guiding it to make sure nothing happens. They also had an electric guy over at the same time and they set all the electric up to 240 then hooked everything up.
Since I was new to having a spa, I went down to Cal Spas a couple of times to clarify some things I wasn't sure of. I was a little confused how things work like with the pH and sanitizing. Every time I would do what I read or what I used to put in there, it was still showing a little different than what it should be. Also sometimes, the water gets a little cloudy that I am wanting to shock it. Still, the spa is therapy for me and it relieves the pain in my legs that I'm having.

When I started looking for a spa, I did my searching around online. I went to the dealership that had Cal Spas and I liked the price. When I bought the spa last year, they came and just dropped it off. I thought that they were actually gonna give me a tutorial or explain it, but no. And that was an issue. I was reading over the manual and I wasn’t really getting it. I had to call the place because there were a lot of things I wasn’t sure I was doing the right way. I called the number and they were trying to explain, but it’s harder when they're not there showing you. For that, I did not have a good experience. But they told me the products that came with it and that I needed to put one in the water. As far as filling up, I wasn’t sure if I was doing it right because you gotta fill up through the filter where the filtration system is. And I was a little confused as to whether I had to take off some filter or fill it up with the filter on.
Also, I haven’t used the spa that much. When I used it for a little bit, my electricity bill went up super high. It was a $200 difference and I don’t think it was supposed to be that much. I know other people who have spas and they say that it shouldn’t be that much as well. So I disconnected it. But I am planning on using it again in the summer because at least with us, our power bill comes every two months. I wanted to make sure that that was the issue or it was something else.

Cal Spas' rep was good and very knowledgeable. The installation was a piece of cake. I was making sure that the chemicals were right and what they sold me versus what I was being kind of told. It was a very short conversation. It was almost like, at that point, just go to the pool/spa place where you get your chemicals and talk with them. The installers were phenomenal though. They were a very quality crew. The spa is great and we’re in it almost every night. It helps me sleep better. I'll probably end up with another Cal Spas.

My husband had back surgery so he had been wanting a hot tub for quite some time. He is 6'4" and Cal Spas' hot tub's depth and amount of seating made us attracted to it and go with it. When it was installed, the experience was easy and wonderful. We have the tub for six months now and it's relaxing. My little one likes to think it’s a pool and jumps in it.
Holly, Thank you for letting us know that you are enjoying your spa. It is great therapy someone with a sore back and for those little ones that just want to have fun too. We appreciate your business. Best Regards,

We drive by Cal Spas' store every day. When we went to their store, it was nice. We could bring water and they would test it for us. They would also give us advice on how to treat the water and on different things to manipulate it. We got a five-seater hot tub from them which was their best seller. It's got four seats on one side and the lay-down tub when you come in the entrance. We also got a gazebo cover that made it a good deal. However, the way the salesperson pitched the hot tub to us wasn’t exactly what she said, but I’m not sure if she knew what she was talking about. When one half of the spa has the jets going, the other half won't. I looked into it and that's just the way it's supposed to be. If I knew it was like that, I would’ve purchased a bigger, more expensive one.
The third-party installer did an okay job, but I had to go through and tighten a lot of the bolts in the gazebo and fix a lot of things, although this was just basic repair. And then when they put the actual hot tub in, the drain was unplugged. I should have checked it because as I was filling it, it was just draining everywhere. I call my fault on that, but they should’ve checked it before I started filling it up.
The tub also had a couple of problems. After I plugged the drain back, there was another leak somewhere inside it. So, a technician came and had to fix that. Then there was another issue with the tub and I had to leave for a few weeks, and the good thing was the techs came out right away. Also, it was no cost on our end for fixing it since these were all covered under warranty. But we've had the hot tub for nine months now and over time, we've realized that it was just a bad purchase and we shouldn't have done it. We should've invested 7,000 into something else.

I've had my spa for roughly eight months now and so far, it's been good. During the installation, I had everything ready to go. My wife said that the team did a good job and I think it was pretty flawless. It was expensive running the spa this winter but outside of that, it has performed well. Also, we talked to their customer service for the sales staff and regarding a replacement filter that broke and they’ve helped us on both of times. I'm satisfied and I’d recommend Cal Spas.

We wanted a swim spa and we checked out different ones, and they were over $30,000. Since there's just the two of us, so we don’t need a bunch of bells and whistles. So, we decided that swim spa would work for us. The installers came and hooked up everything. And they didn’t have a part of the stairs so they took that away and then I went back down and picked it up down in Sacramento, just about an hour and 15 minutes away from here. Our swim spa got 1300 gallons of water in it and it's got two chairs type that do different things where you’re sitting in a recliner thing. And then on the side, it’s got single jets where if you wanna have a bunch of people that could all be doing something. Or you could just do the swim thing, which my wife has done a couple times and she enjoys it.
So far, the spa is working good. However, we only got to enjoy it for a few months before winter came. And then when we got them two $220 bills back-to-back, we said, “Okay. We’re gonna have to shut her down.” So, we haven’t enjoyed it for four months now. It’s just sitting there. It’s just too expensive to run during the winter which I didn’t know about. If we would’ve known about that, maybe I might not have gotten it. We've had our Cal Spas for almost a year now and I have referred my neighbors and they went and bought a spa the next week we bought ours.

They didn’t know what they were doing. I got tired of watching them. I had seen four guys that didn’t have the slightest clue about what they were doing. But I like the tub and I’ve always enjoyed it since having it installed. However, I have a couple of jets that are broke right now and I need to call Cal Spas.

I’m 61 years old and I’m disabled. My husband is also disabled so his knees are really bad. He has always wanted a spa, so I bought the Cal Spas for him for Father’s Day. We installed it ourselves. We just had them put it on the patio where it was gonna go and we just hooked it up. My husband is retired from maintenance he provided for the San Benito County so he knows codes. We enjoyed using the spa. However, it was too cold in the wintertime even though it was a warm spa. We live in the high desert and we get a breeze so we’re gonna put a wall or something up so that we don’t get a breeze.
I noticed that the paint on the steps was not very sturdy. One night, I was getting out and I had my one foot on the first step and I had a hold of the rail. I was pulling over the top and when I stuck my left foot, the other foot, on the step, it slipped right out from under me. My hand slipped like if I was hanging on to something wet and slipped, so I went completely down. I landed with my right leg backward and my back on the steps. So I had a huge bruise from sliding down the step on my back and I had bruising on my foot. I went to the hospital to be x-rayed and they didn’t see any broken bones, but they were very surprised because I had looked like I had broken my foot. I was in a lot of pain.
I fell about four months after I got it and I haven’t been in it since. My husband put some carpeting on the steps so that it’s no longer slippery. But we still need to figure out something to put on the handrails to make them not slip when wet. I’m afraid to get in the spa because of the steps. The steps didn’t come with a warning. Cal Spas should have warned me.

We've had our hot tub from Cal Spas for about six months now and we love it. However, my experience with the sales guy was a little jaded. But since I'm in sales myself, I understand being rushed. Cal Spas was busy at that time as there were a lot of people on the showroom floor and they had a lot of orders. The installation also didn’t go as well as I thought it would be. The salesperson did the measurement for the installation and I was asked for a certain amount of an access to my backyard to pour a slab. But then when their team came out, they needed more than what they said. A slab got poured the whole alleyway and then they asked for a certain amount of access to my fence. I called Cal Spas and they worked with me, but they didn’t really want to hear about it. So I paid an extra $150 to my contractor who was pouring the slab to redo my whole fence and take out the additional three and a half feet.
Also, the quality of the hot tub is a little below what I thought it would be in regards to the paneling on the side where the motor is. It’s starting to deteriorate a lot faster. In addition to that, the buckles have already broken for the top that is heavy. But, we’re enjoying the spa. The kids love the low hill type of fountain. The hot tub is not getting as much of the action though because we're on a high desert and we have a lot of winds.
We are sorry to hear you had some issues prior to the delivery with the sales person. It sounds like you got it ironed out. Please contact Secard to take care of any issues you are experiencing with your cabinet. You know you have a 5 year warranty on your spa and we do stand behind that for all your needs. My hot tub had gotten damaged and my son-in-law told me that everybody told him that they make better ones at Home Depot. So, I got online and I ordered a Cal Spas hot tub. And it’s been bad. They first brought the first one in the summertime and it was used. The guy who brought it up wouldn’t even back into the yard and it’s a whole big safe here. And I gave him permission. They got stuck up. I had to get a bunch of people in, and they carried it and got it up on here. The guy helped them, he knows nothing was dropped, and when they set it up, water was pouring out and you could smell nothing but pure chlorine.
My first hot tub from another provider was way better. It was sealed completely around. Water didn’t get in it, underneath it, and into the speakers. And the wind didn’t blow water underneath it either. With Cal Spas, one whole set is not even sealed and I kept trying to tell them. I’d talked to one lady from Cal Spas and she said, “Well, they’re made that way.” Anybody who’s got common sense knows that a hot tub has to sit down on what I call a cage. It has to sit completely on that and didn’t seal around it. It keeps the cold air out from under there. And I’ve tried to tell her that the gap is so big, that that ice cold wind goes straight up and under that hot tub, and the heater does not keep off at all on freezing or cold nights.
I have given them a year to do right. I ordered the tub from homedepot.com and not from CalSpas.com. So, when I order it from Home Depot, Home Depot should be the one taking care of me and not tell me to call this one or that one. And nothing gets done, and I’m still sitting here with this messed up hot tub with speakers that go in and out now and sometimes completely off because they’re destroyed by the winter.

The people that came in installed our Cal Spas tub quick and easy after we had the electricians come out. They were very helpful in showing us how to keep it clean and where to put the filters and chemicals. It’s easy to clean the filters with chemicals. The model we got fits the area we needed to put it in.
But for some reason the Cal Spa doesn’t wanna hold temperature quite as well when it’s on the economy mode. I know my Sundance Spa actually held better. For some reason the temperature drops a lot faster when I wanna heat it up to go into the spa. But other than that it’s fine. They are responsive and everything else works very well and it’s comfortable. It’s wonderful especially when your body’s a little bit sore and tired and you go on in and it’s very restful. The jets are really well for massage or relaxation. And it’s just very enjoyable to go outside and look at the stars. We love it and we’re very satisfied. Their prices are very comparable and we have good customer satisfaction.

I bought a spa from them in July or August last year and it was the Hawaiian 240-volt model. I knew what I wanted going in. My interaction with the reps was okay and it was what I was expecting. They were typical salesmen. I told them what I wanted, then they gave me the price and said that the spa I wanted was on sale. But since I live in snow, it would have been nice, in buying the spa from the get-go, to have them explain and for me to know about getting a heavier duty spa cover because I bought one after-market later. Cal Spas delivered the spa and put it down where I wanted it outside, then I hired an electrician to do all the wiring. Since the installation of the spa, I have liked and enjoyed it. I wanted him to be present to help me learn things about the tub. I have had to learn those things myself. That makes me believe that if something goes wrong with my hot tub that I'm going to be pulling teeth to get service after the sale. So I wouldn't recommend Cal Spas.
While my older tub of 10 years was first class and it would probably run longer than my new Cal Spa, I got the new one because it was bigger. My new hot tub is 1,500 gallons. Though I've drained it and it's sitting empty right now, I'm going to be filling it back up in one week and it's going to be making my summer days a lot better. I was buying chemicals from Cal Spas for my old hot tub, which is also a Cal Spas. It was with the house that I bought a little over a year ago. This summer, we traded that tub in on a hot tub from Cal Spas. The purchase of the new one was very easy and quick. The guy who came out and installed the new hot tub was nice. The hot tub works, however, I am having a little bit of a problem with is that the cover was installed on one side, and now it rubs against the house. My old one does not, so I am going to have to call them to come out and fix that.
Also, some of the nozzles are rusting. And I went into Cal Spas and the rep basically told me it was my fault for using chlorine and said to bring some of the heads in. When I bought it, he said chlorine was fine because we were using chlorine in the other one instead of bromine. Also, I literally bought chlorine when I bought the hot tub and they gave me a free bottle of chlorine, too.
So, I'm was like sitting there going, "All right. This is a $10,000 hot tub that I have had for less than a year and you're trying to tell you don't want to fix the problem." I'm like, "I would like someone at my house looking at it. I don't want to start ripping my hot tub apart and bringing parts to this guy." And this is like their main sales guy over at their particular Cal Spas I bought it from. So, now that I own the hot tub, and the way I've been treated since I've owned it, and the Cal Spas that I bought it from, I'd probably never buy another one. The initial experience has been great, but that is not why I buy anything.

Both my wife and I interacted with hot tubs our whole lives and we’d never even thought that advice was helpful. The installation was great, too. The installers came a week ahead of schedule both on the day of delivery and on the day of logistics. We were timing it up with a project so it required some additional maneuvering to make everything work and they were very accommodating to that project schedule.
We use the tub almost every day and we saved a lot of water because we don’t use the big bathtub up in the master bathroom anymore. Also, Cal Spas is receptive and attentive. The reps were kind and nice. They showed us what we were getting and we got what we ordered. The installation went smoothly too. I was impressed with that dolly that they have. Two guys rolled up with a flatbed and a jacuzzi and they got the thing out on its side. They strapped up this big, wheeled cart, rolled it around and it was in.
So far, everything is good with my experience with Cal Spas. However, they should make the price of the top that goes to the jacuzzi standard and not $299 extra dollars once you spend 5 grand. I'd still tell a friend to buy one and if they get an opportunity to special order the jacuzzis, I would recommend to put the jets in the jacuzzi where they want them and have the reps explain the way that they cycle the jets from one side to the other. Because I didn’t really understand how that worked and how I see what I would do differently if I were able to fix it myself. If my wife wanted to sit in a jacuzzi, instead of us having to sit on the same side if we want full power to the two jets, if there’s an inverter to be able to do one or two or three at the time, get that.

I enjoy the initial thing about it while it’s warm, but for the last month, I haven’t been able to get in it because I just had a triple bypass. I got in the spa for the first time on Wednesday or Thursday as my doctor said I could get in it for 10-15 minutes, and it felt good.

We inherited an old hot tub with the house and I talked to the guy who works on hot tubs and was recommended by the hot tub supply company, and he said the manufacturer no longer makes them. He said he could help us get a new one, though. And he’s a reseller of Cal Spas, which seemed like a good brand. We've had our hot tub from Cal Spas for seven months, and so far it operates well. It is similar in size to the old one, but since it is newer, it’s easier to use. We really like it. We got it at a good price and it seems to be great. It’s also a nice stress and back pain relieving thing. There was a piece of the spa that was a little bit broken when it came. And I’m having a hard time to reach out to talk to Cal Spas, but other than that, I would recommend them.

We wish to commend Karen **, Customer Care Manager, and Renee of your Parts Department for their exemplary care in helping us to order the Replacement Control Box VS300 for our Cal Spas hot tub. Karen was thoroughly knowledgeable, thoughtful/understanding and patient with us, even to the extent of helping us with a discount, and waiting while we went to find a credit card with sufficient funds to pay for the part. Karen then documented everything and sent it to Renee who processed and expedited our order. Renee was very professional and followed up by sending us email confirmation of order placement; then as promised, tracking information. Like Karen, Renee was delightful, answered all of our questions and made us feel comfortable!
We both in our 70's, have lower back and leg issues and currently on a negative-cash-flow fixed income. We love our Cal Spas hot tub and have greatly benefited from using it over the years without ever having a problem! I went to a place that sells hot tubs and bought a Cal Spas tub. The people there were good, knowledgeable and the installation went great. When I was growing up, my parents had a spa and there was a door on the front to access the motor if something needs to be done. The new ones don’t seem to have that access to avoid the everyday consumer working on it. But it would be a convenient factor if I needed to have somebody come work on it or if I want to monitor what I needed to do something myself.

We had one of those inflatables that you get at Target and it sprung a leak. It also had some sun stains on it so we went to Cal Spas to see if we could find something to clean up the sun stains and patch up the holes, but we ended up getting a real one. My wife was there during the installation and she said that everything went along without a hitch. I was enjoying the tub. It was great but after a week went by without having to use it, this scale on the side formed and it felt like sandpaper. You can reach in there and scrape it away with your fingernails but after scrubbing at it for about half an hour, you get tired of it and you only cleared away about a foot.

I went to a few different companies, comparing prices in store and Cal Spas had the most reasonably priced tub. I had to put concrete in my floor but that was not on Cal Spas. We just made sure it's doable. The two guys basically just put it down from their truck. We've had the tub for seven months now and it's been really good. It's been a little windy recently so my cover got blown off and the tub got really dirty. I've had it cleaned two times recently which was frustrating but it's fine.

We bought an original Cal Spa in 1999. It was a great product and we really liked it, so when we were shopping for another one, we wanted to get another Cal Spa tub. We then got one through a retailer and they arranged to have someone bring the unit to our house. They did a very poor job because when the unit was delivered, it was damaged. They didn't take it back despite weeks and weeks of phone calls and e-mails. I then reached out directly to Cal Spas and they reached out to the retailer many times but the retailer was not responsive. We even had a fight with the retailer through the bank to try to get our money back. But Cal Spa said that for all our trouble they were going to give me a new hot tub for free.
Cal Spas then told me that they dropped the retailer as one of their suppliers and took it upon themselves to find another spa company on Long Island to come out to our house, remove the old hot tub and install a new one. The customer service was great and couldn't have been any better. We appreciated that Cal Spa jumped in when the retailer was unresponsive. They even had executives get involved and speak to us. They really went above and beyond with their customer service.
The tub that we have now however is a little bit different. It doesn't have as much legroom as the one that was replaced. With our old tub, my husband could be sitting on one side and I on the other and we could stretch our legs and feet and the jets massage us but now, we have to bend our knees since it's not as wide at the bottom. But the new one is easy to operate and very relaxing for something my husband and I enjoy doing together.

We bought our first hot tub with all wood from Cal Spas 25 years ago. In 2008, we walked in and bought our second one. We paid cash for it and we noticed that Cal Spas were a little bit cheaper on some things. They took our old hot tub and gave us the money for that. We liked that second hot tub and it was almost eight years old but we never had any issues with it except for a couple of bugs and Cal Spas fixed that. But a sidewinder tornado took it.
So we got a new 2017 64 jet hot tub. We had a 100% deductible with the insurance company and they paid for everything. The insurance went from what we had before so they gave us a check for $12,000 and we went into the store up in Plymouth and got a new one. They did a few wheeling and dealing because we’ve been their customer for years. The hot tub is a little spendy for people because not everybody can whip out $12000 and get a hot tub. And this hot tub that we got cost $11000.
We’re very much impressed with it. The paneling around is way better than the one we had in 2008 because whoever they hired put on our lid wrong on that one and it was a mess. We also got the cool down seats on our new tub and the lights that are all inside. We love that. But we didn't get the radio because we had one before and we did not like it. They were cheap speakers. So we just went out and bought a Bose speaker and saved money that way. We love that because we can do our own music on the Wi-Fi. I also like the idea of the waterfall and that the center chair has all the new sides. The jets are on the sides of your body and it sits up higher, too. The other ones tend to sink down and it’s hard when you’re short like a girl. But my husband is 6’1" and he loves the lounger because it has more jets underneath the calves while the other one did not.
The guys in Plymouth were very knowledgeable and easygoing. They knew us by name because we buy our chemicals there and we go back and forth. I've been such a good customer that every time we go there, they always tell me to not worry and get my chemicals then they pay for my shipping. They’re always that nice and that makes me want to come back and tell all the people about Cal Spas, too. But sometimes, it’s hard to get to Plymouth so we go to this store that my husband passes by. They said they’re the same name brand as Cal Spas and they have all the same filters so it’s nice in that way.

Cal Spas had an open house and when I went to buy the spa, I felt I was welcome. The people explained to me how that thing operates. Their installation team was did a good job, but they didn't install anything. All they did was bring in the hot tub, drop it off and then leave. It took them 45 minutes to an hour to do everything. Though I had to tell them how to do it, they're professional. So far, I love the tub itself. It's the big one and it has that ultrasonic filter. Everything is working fine, however the cover and the piece of cheap tubing that they use to lift the cover is horrible. Cal Spas has a good reputation but then, they provide those cheap cover with a handle. It really ruins the taste.
Other than that, when I went back there because I had a problem, the people at Cal Spas treated me like a stranger. It felt like they want me to stay out, and since they got my business, they don't need me anymore. They won’t even help me with my complaint. I asked them to let me talk to the expert since the spa is not working and I have a single question. Finally, they got somebody, got me in the office, and she was not a professional. She was just going back and forth, three or four times. Finally, I got tired of it. I got home, read the book a little, and I got the spa working. All in all, the spa is good but the service is horrible.

We had Cal Spas install a hot tub around five months ago. The salesperson we had was fine but there was a real disconnect between one of their operation guys from the San Bernardino store. I explained to them that getting a spa into the location would be a bit challenging because there were narrow openings with gates. The guy came out and took a look at it. He said it won’t be a problem and that they can get the spa in there. I was a little doubtful but went with him on it since he’s the expert. The installers came out and took a look at where they had to put the spa and said, “That ain’t going to happen.”
About the time we were having this discussion, my electrician who was working that day at our property was watching what was going on. I knew my wife was getting increasingly agitated because she wanted the spa put in. So, my electrician told us he’s got a friend who has a crane company. He got a hold of this friend and it turned out the guy was down the street finishing up a job. Within 45 minutes he showed up, hooked up his crane, lifted the spa over the top of the house, dropped it on the back, and then the guys installed the spa. It was $350 and Cal Spas paid for it. Other than that, the installation was great. They placed it and it worked out fine.
The other concern we had is that we didn’t get a good education on the proper use of the spa in terms of chemicals. We did as we were told but it overagitated the water in the spa. There’s a water clarifier and there’s bromine. Whenever we turn the pump on we get a lot of bubbles. And then the guy we talked to said we’re not supposed to use bromine and use chlorine instead. So, we switched to chlorine. But at that point, the water had been over-chemicalized that we’re still having a problem. I put the water in about five minutes and then the recommendation is to drain the water and do it again.
They didn’t do a good job explaining to us what to use and what not to use. They weren’t even sure. One said bromine and one said chlorine. At some point, we’re probably going to have to drain the water. Every time we turn on the big pump, it creates this foam. Otherwise, the spa is great. It got lots of jets. We love and enjoy it and I’d definitely recommend it.

I’ve used Cal Spas for 30 to 60 days since I bought the last one and it has been bad. The guy from Cal Spas came here and told me that he needed to get a crane to get the hot tub lifted over my house to get in the backyard. I told them I have access to the back, through a lot and they can pull their truck up back there and I'll help them get it up there. They said over and over that it cannot happen and that they needed eight guys. Luckily, I had eight guys working around the corner who could've helped us. But all said and done, it only took three guys to do the same job and get the hot tub. He wanted to charge an extra fee because the delivery was free. And then, he didn’t want to talk and just wanted to leave. I finally convinced him and said, "I'll give you a tip, whatever. Take $100, $200. Just listen to me and I guarantee you we're going to get it up there. It's not that bad. And you can get your truck all the way back to the lot." It was horrible delivery.
Then, we got the tub and it had a blown fuse on it so once the electrical was hooked up, it didn’t work. Then I went back and forth with Cal Spas. Finally, I had to call a third-party person and they came and looked at the spa. I told them that there’s a blown fuse when it was sold to me. They told me all they do is sell spas and they gave me a number and collected my $9000 and put it in their pocket. It was horrible. I did business with Royal Spas out of Indianapolis, Indiana. They manufacture Royal Spas and I used their spa for 10 years. It was an awesome company and I never had an issue. But Cal Spas is garbage. I bought the spa and already one of the jets broke. Now I'm calling them back and waiting what they’ll do on this part. It's a crappy product, crappy service, and crappy people.

We were a little frustrated when getting the spa took a bit longer than usual and then once we got it, we had one problem. So, they sent people out to fix it. The product was brought in and set up like they said it would, so it was good. Now, the only issue we're having is that my husband can’t keep the chlorine in it enough. Other than that, the swim spa is nice and it's perfect for our daughter. They were fast because it didn't take more than 20 minutes from the time they got there to the time that they were done. I sought Cal Spas and I've known about them for 30 years. I bought one at the Los Angeles County Fair 20 years ago at a different home and I just bought a new hot tub two months ago. The new tub has dual motors with dual filtration. Installation went fine and both tubs are good. I have a five-year warranty on it. The headrest has all bubbled up and lost their adhering effect that it has so it hasn’t held up with the water. I have to take all the cushions. It's easy to repair but that could be improved. They have a plastic step to go in the Cal Spas and it’s very poor. It gets very hot in the summer months that it burns the bottom of your feet. Cal Spas needs to address and upgrade that and I made one myself. The tub works all the time when we use it in the summer but we don’t want to go from hot to cold, it’s too painful. We can’t use it during the winter because it's too cold outside.

We bought our spa in June 2009 and its still looks great and works well. We had a few issues when we originally ordered the spa, which were resolved immediately by the company: The cover lifter we ordered was missing (they sent one). The 75sf filters didn't fit (they replaced them with 50sf filters). There was a crimped hose (they sent someone to replace it.) I was glad we were advised to order 2 covers; we replaced the original cover a couple of years ago with the second one we bought.
But I wish we had not gotten the bromine generator. It was a considerable added expense, the base chemical that makes it work was also expensive and hard to find, and we ended up just using bromine tablets anyway. Next time we might want to try the UV filter. We also had problems with the 24 hour pump and had to disconnect it; we just use the main pump which we find is sufficient for filtering. All in all, we love our spa and use it every day. We'd buy another spa from this company.

By 2015 the fixtures inside the spa rusted, the speaker covers rusted, one of the speaker covers under water came off; the debris catcher casing separated from the wall of the spa and the side paneling came off. Parts were replaced summer of 2016. ALL parts have rusted again & worse and the side paneling is off again. I purchased the spa from Secard Pools in Hemet and all they can do is replace the parts. I have asked both Secard and Cal Spa to reimburse me 75% of the cost and to remove it off my property and they say they cannot. Cal Spa (who built the spa) says it is not their responsibility. We have not been able to use the spa because it is a health hazard. The spa is maintained weekly by a reputable pool services and has been since we purchased it.
I cannot seem to get Cal Spa to understand that it is their product that is faulty and that water equipment should not rust. The Cal Spa Service Manager Karen said that because I have a contract with Secard it is their responsibility. Secard did not build the spa nor do they have the replacement parts, the parts come from Cal Spa. There is no resolve here and Cal Spa will not stand behind their product. Because of their faulty parts, I have not been able to utilize the spa and the spa is needed for my immune disorder, as I am a retired vet who suffers from chronic joint and muscle disabilities, which is why I purchased the spa.
We are very sorry that this rust issue continues to frustrate you. We want you to be able to use your spa confidently for your health and well being. We drove by one of Cal Spas’ distributors, Secard Pools and Spas, and we were curious about what they sold. We were originally thinking of doing an inground pool but the Swim Spa seemed like a better solution for our needs. The sales person at Secard was knowledgeable about how they work, like the special occasions as far as space around the spa that we would need for it to fit in our yard, so it was a pretty easy interaction. There was one time where I had an issue with a pump that was not wanting to start, and it was a Secard service rep who came out and looked at it.
The Secard team also did the installation and it went well. There was a bit of a tight squeeze to get it down the driveway, but they were really good about making through the clearance and they were quick. Since the installation of our Cal Spa Swim Spa, we have definitely been having fun as a family, hanging out in the spa portion of it when it's just time to relax. Also, it has been good for getting exercise when we would turn the current on and swim against it, so it has been good for our health and mental well-being too. It's definitely worth the money.
