We keep the spa up and running in the winter and I use it once or twice. During the summer, my husband uses it almost daily. He works outside and it's intense work. He likes to come home and loosen up his muscles. But we've got issues. The light feature doesn't turn on and that needs to be fixed. The headrest that we have is poor quality so, it started to disintegrate in the hot tub. Everything was out of warranty every time we called Cal Spas and they just told us how much it would cost. People should do their research before they buy a hot tub. If I would have done more research, I wouldn't have bought one to begin with. Every other day, you have to add chemicals to it. Twice a year, you have to drain it and refill it. You gotta wash the cover. It's a lot of work.
Hello Tammy,
Thank you for providing your feedback and for the review. We apologize that the minor issues you have experienced have not been warranty related. We hope you and your husband continue to enjoy your spa.

I ended up choosing Cal Spas because I wanted a recourse. If anything happened to the spa, they would repair it. If anything was wrong, I could reach out to them. Even though their prices may be a bit more than what I could buy somewhere else, at least I had customer support from the one where I purchased it. Every time I emailed with any questions, I got quick answers. They're a very wonderful company.
I went with the biggest spa that didn't require me to get additional voltage. I wish I went with something a bit higher voltage, stronger jets, for therapeutic reasons. But the heat element itself is still therapeutic. Just sometimes, I want one of the jets to be stronger. But it's lovely. It's very relaxing and I use it all the time. Also, it's very easily maintained. I've been in other people's hot tubs, and it's very good quality and is comfortable. I got my money's worth.
As far as part replacement, Cal Spas would tell me exactly what I needed. The only parts I've needed replaced were things I could do, like the clips and the headrest. They're very easy. And they needed to come out and replace the GFI on mine. It was tripping, and it wasn't my source. It was the actual hot tub itself. So, someone came out and took care of that for me.

I use my Cal Spas hot tub every day during the wintertime. So far, it's been enjoyable. It has jets, lights and a waterfall. It also has a lounge which is my favorite part. However, I've had a couple of small parts failures, like a nozzle breaking. I've had some heater core issues, where it would get too hot and it would shut itself off, which it protected itself. But then I would go to use my hot tub and it'd be cold. I have to restart the heater. But other than those, it works for me 98% of the time. I'm happy with it.

We've had our spa for three years now. The first thing to go was the Cal Spa logo on the floor of the tub. The adhesive failed and the whole thing peeled up and sent globs of adhesive floating around in the tub for weeks. We drained it and scraped the rest of the sticker and adhesive off the bottom of the tub and that was that- a bellwether I suppose. Around that same time we noticed the outer shell around the top edge began to crack in one spot. A year later there are several hair line cracks along the top edge of the shell in several different locations. They are noticeably unsightly and a constant reminder of the lack of quality in this tub.
We have reached out to Cal Spas and were told that this is "normal" and they offered us a $1500 payout to forget about it. The payout would void the remainder of the warranty. To pay what we did for the spa I would expect the company to stand behind their product and offer a full replacement. Sadly this has not happened yet. I guess time will tell. Will update when this has been resolved.

I got my second hot tub with Cal Spas. The installation went well. They set up a delivery to the driveway, and then I had to hire another firm to bring it back to the backyard, but it was to be expected. The installers were kind and professional. Compared to other hot tubs, Cal Spas is not the best but for the price, it's good. It's not like a 5 star hot tub, but it's doing well. It is enjoyable and therapeutic and allows me to connect with my friends and family, too.
A couple of things could have been improved though. One was when I received the spa, I called customer service because I needed to cut into the packaging to find out where the mechanical spot was. The rep on the phone told me to cut into the packaging, and I ended up slicing right into the cover. I guess the customer rep did not know about the spa, and he guided me inaccurately. But they sent me a new cover, and so that was nice that they accepted responsibility for that. The foam inside the cover has deteriorated and so I called them up and they said they're gonna send me a new one, but it hasn't arrived yet. So, I'm still on the fence whether or not they're gonna follow through with that one. Overall, the quality of the foam and the cover was not of good quality.

There was also a chunk of plastic lodged inside one of the jets which blocked the water. The company never responded to our emails. Concerning the tub, it does. Have a nice variety of jets and a strong shell. The operating system is easy to use. We do like the unit, after all these issues were sorted, but wouldn’t recommend the company.

The color they gave me blends in with the back wall. The tub has the lights, but it doesn’t have speakers. It could have speakers. At first, I was having the pumps on to circulate the water. Then I bought the fogger. But the fogger is not compatible with the spa. I had to drain the water out and reuse it. It's pricey but for what you pay, it’s a good investment. I recommend Cal Spas to everybody. The tub is relaxing. The jets are good for the back. I use it when I get off of work. It puts me to sleep at night. I've been getting a better night's sleep since I've been using that.

I bought a home in March that had a Cal Spas put in 2 years ago. The pump went out and I called my local spa store where the Hot Tub was purchased. They were also the spa store that installed the Cal Spas. This past month, the pump 1 went out and I called for a repair from the spa store and they called Cal Spas to get it covered under warranty. Since I am not the original owner, it is not covered. It is not transferable. What a bunch of bull. First of all, how does the pump go out after 2 years. This means it is a terrible product. And you can't warranty it because you know it is a terrible product. Now get this, the new pump was installed and the 2nd one went out a week later. We had to buy 2 pumps after 2 years of the life of the Hot Tub. Go to another dealer. Cal Spas does not make a good product and you will regret it in the long run. By the way, the pillows also have to be replaced over and over due to tearing in the back. Just awful all the way around.

Cal Spas delivered the tub. It was a pain in the butt because we didn't know everything that it entailed. I had to pay an electrician to come and run the wire. And it needed to be this many volts. That was $2,000. Also, Cal Spas just dropped the tub off. They told me nothing. I asked, "But wait, so how do we get this going? Any instructions?" They gave me a little package and I dealt with it. Whatever they gave us doesn't work. I ended up having to buy the Frog system on Amazon. That finally ended up working. I called them to ask questions and they were not the same one. Once the sale was over, they were, "** off." They're not the best.

Cal Spas was helpful. They were straightforward when it came to buying the spa. There's no financing. You have to pay it upfront. When we saw the prices here in LA compared to the prices over at the fair, there was much of a difference. The person that helped me out was friendly and very patient with us. It took about an hour for us to decide on which hot tub to get. He mentioned to get the bigger size because we're a lot of people in it. The installation took about 45 minutes. They brought it all the way inside the property, laid it down, and we just had to connect it ourselves. They said they don't provide instructions on how to connect. But we love our hot tub. It's big. My wife wanted a swim spa, and we bought it for her. The guy we dealt with was great, and he gave us a good deal on it. As a matter of fact, we were at the Pomona Fair when we purchased it. I wasn't there to buy a spa, but it worked out well. The guy was an all around a nice person, and he was worth dealing with. I had to move the swim spa 'cause there was a bit of a problem with the concrete underneath, and I had to redo the concrete to make it level. All in all though, it was great. I was able to get ahold of Cal Spas. It was a little expensive, but I managed to get it done. I would recommend Cal Spas to a friend. It's decent, and my wife likes the swim spa. We've always had real in-ground swimming pools, so having a spa like this is a first for us. It's not bad, and it suits its purpose. We went to the fair to buy a Cal Spas tub and their reps were extremely helpful. We explained the situation and exactly what we were going to use it for. They gave us a few different options and they didn't try to upsell us anything crazy. And they got us the best thing that fit for what we needed. We purchased the 739LX because we had a specific size requirement and this was the one that fit within our dimensions. We were looking for it for medical purposes as well. Also, the other ones of this size were shorter to the ground where this one is raised up. Aside from that, this one had what they consider therapy jets in place of standard jets. So the jets are a little bit stronger, even though there aren't as many as some of the shorter models. They're more specifically located for medical purposes than just for a fun health accessory.
The delivery was great, too. The guys were on time and they kept in contact with us the entire time with any delays. The two gentlemen who delivered our tub also went over everything with us, and made the adjustments for the movements that we wanted for it to be in the right spot. For the installation, it's fairly plug-and-play but I haven't finished installing it.

I was in Pomona Fair. My daughter doesn't like cold water. She wanted a spa. I got Cal Spas and it was more like a thermal pool. It was just a little bit hot. Cal Spas was number one in that. I had a huge trouble getting with the guys for the electricity thing. They came late. They came two hours for four to five days. They always found something like tape or made me buy expensive cable for I don't know what. It was a huge thing. They didn't complete the work even though I paid them. I had to contract other people to try to finish the work. It was a huge mess. My brother also bought a spa from Cal Spas and had the same exact problem. If they could get the person who buys a spa to get the electricity guy, that would be nice because it was a lot of trouble. They take forever and they didn't do things right. Those guys can mess up the spa. It was not nice and I was really upset.
The spa came out a little bit late too but that was all right. It was like just one week late. It was not a huge thing for me. Cal Spas should tell the people where to put right the connection system. I made my own floor and I contracted somebody to do that. They did it right. It was just the measurement was little bit of a little problem for me. They plugged everything okay. It was not a big deal.
The spa working right. Just I have a little bit of trouble with the buttons. I don't know necessarily how they work. I had to read the manual. But it was hard because nobody came and said, "Oh, you have to do like this or like that." I was like in a little bit of trouble. I had to figure out through YouTube, which I did. I have an arc of water and it's not working that much right now. One is working and the other one is low. I don't like that but I don't know how to fix it. I will just figure it out on my own.
That aside, I like the spa a lot. My problem is that I didn't get the person to put it in the right way. Now, I don't know if my spa is wrong because of that or if my spa came wrong. But now that I fixed it, it gets super hot like I want it to be. It has a lot of seats in the whole thing. I have a big family and when I have parties, we can all sit in the spa. Maybe 102 people can sit in it. That's really nice. But the cleaning is a bit of a trouble for me. And I had to figure it all out on internet how to clean it. it would be nice if Cal Spas brings a little class. On the whole, I love the spa but I was really disappointed.

The sales rep was really great about everything, but I found the manager at Cal Spas to be dishonest and too pushy. The guy that was helping us to buy the spa was very nice. He was very calm and informative, but when the manager got involved, I felt rushed. He was just making me hurry up and pick one, and he was picking out things I didn't want. I didn't even want to be talked to by him anymore, but I didn't wanna be rude and say it, so I let him. I felt that because of that, I made the wrong purchase. Also, I was told I was gonna get the handles for the lid that goes on the tub so that would be easy to lift. It was gonna be included with my purchase along with the stairs. The stairs came, but the pieces to make the lid for easy lifting was not there.
Another thing is, the jets are not strong. When I'm sitting in the tub, I know that there are some jets on, but I think it's gonna give me a nice massage and it's not. That was misleading, since I have this big purchase and it's not even what I thought it was. Besides that, the installers were absolutely amazing. They were very patient. Because the space that I had, the person that had put down the pavers had not done it correctly, and I let them know ahead of time, but the guy was not listening to me. When they got there, they explained it to him and they offered to come back at a later time to be able to set the tub up. They were really helpful, and I give them a 10.

We started doing all the paperwork then he said I was going to start getting emails on my phone. When the emails were coming through, there was a 20-something dollar more month payment than what he showed me. I told him that that was not what we agreed upon and he said it was just in there right now. But once I signed the final paperwork, they'd get the loan taken care of and my payment was going to drop down to what he showed me. But that never happened. I got stuck with that higher payment, which ended up costing me almost $2,000 more over the entire thing.
When I called him back about it, he said he didn't know what happened. By this time he was back in Tennessee. He said we was going to figure it out, so he calls this guy named Dylan, the Pomona Fair manager. I talked to Dylan during the whole transaction the first time, too. So I told Dylan what was going on and he said he would find out what was going on and make it right. He said he'd call me right back but he wouldn't even call me back. He would just text me and he said that the other said that he gave me that one price. And I was pissed because we just got off the phone and he acknowledged the price we discussed and what he showed me. But when Dylan called him up, he backed out of his story and told Dylan a different story. Then, none of them would get on the phone. They'd only text me.
Then, Dylan told me to take it or leave it. He said I could cancel my deal by 4 o'clock that day, otherwise, I'd be locked in for 10 years. I was pretty pissed off about it and I felt like we got jerked around a little bit. But we went ahead with it and so far, we like the spa. But in one of the sales pitches that we got, the rep said that we'd get 96 jets or as low as 40 jets. He said that if we went lower, our jets would be a lot stronger because they'd be pumping out through the holes less. He said the jets would push you off your seats if you turn it up all the way. So we went with the lower amount of jets to get more power. But they're not as powerful as what we're used to or what we thought they would be.
Besides the jets issue, the spa is great quality. It's brand new, and it's nice and shiny. We got the top-of-the-line spa and my wife's really happy with it. But if we were to do it again, we'd probably pass on it just for what the sales pitch was, what they were telling us, what we ended up getting, and the price we were promised which we didn't get.

Cal Spas' pricing was more in our price affordability. We went in store and looked at the models and decided what we wanted. We bought two. Customer service was fine. We’re able to make a deal on two of them. They took a really long time. When we first ordered the spas, they told us three to four months. But it ended up being more like 9 or 10 months. This was during COVID and they were having issues getting parts. These are not from the manufacturer as the manufacturer is here. It was for some of the electronics and things. It was a struggle to get into inventory to do their job.
The spas are okay and we enjoy them but they are not my favorite. We've had a few issues with them. We have a swim spa and a regular spa. We put the cover on the swim spa. But all the metal parts start rusting and it looks bad. I made Cal Spas aware of it and they said that was not their fault. They were non-responsive. We now have to get in there and try to scrub the rust off. They don't offer anything. We've had a couple of the things that you adjust where the flow comes out of the jets in the regular spa blow-out. They did come and fix those under warranty so that part was good. But it was aggravating when it happens when it’s a brand-new spa.
Thank you for the review! We apologize for the production delays on your product, Covid19 did take a toll on the supply chain in all industries. Your feedback is much appreciated. We're always looking to improve.

Cal Spas is a good spa to get into. It has the smoother finish inside so it doesn't build up the scale or the hard water as bad. And it fit our budget. In the beginning I had a problem with electrical and the manager was not helpful. We had our uncle who is an electrician do it because it cost a bit for Cal Spas to come out and do it. Other than that, the interior is good. Some of the adjustments on the jets stick a bit, like the air valves. We did the wood surround, and that faded quickly. We love the features, since we have some lower back pain and muscle aches.

We liked the Cal spa design we had. It gave us enough room for my almost seven-foot son so it was great. It's got a waterfall and then, it had a corner one where you can adjust the jets from that area. It had jets coming out of the floor, another corner one and two side ones. The installation was good. I had a problem though with the two side ones, which struggled with either airlocks or it wasn't set up right in that respect. We had it for two years but we had to sell it with the house because it cost too much to move that. I would have almost bought a brand new one by the time I put that in and moved from Texas to Michigan. So I left it there and sold it to the people that bought the house. I’m gonna buy another thing up here probably. My wife loved the heck out of it. She was in it almost probably every other night.

The Cal Spas salespeople were the owners of the shop, and they were pretty good. The delivery people came several times. The only problem I had was the tub is so wide, we had to hire a huge crane that could barely get it over the top of the house without going into alarms. We got it settled after four different attempts with four different cranes. I have the tub set up on a deck at the back of my house facing Sierra Blanca mountain chain. So, it's pretty nice. I wish I could have gotten a bigger one, but this one here taxed the cranes pretty heavily. We bought the Covana top for it, and I would recommend that for everybody because taking off those manual tops will be a lot of problems, especially when you get to a bigger spa like this one. I've seen the ones that are kind of like an old-fashioned buggy style where the two tops flip up on each end, and it blocks your view if you have a view that you want to look at. So, Covana top is the way to go.

Yes, the fuse was blown as well as the number two pump! Another two week wait. The #2 came in the earlier inexperienced employee installed it. While he was testing it, he said 'great, it's working!' (NOT). Pointed out the #2 jets are still not working! He said give it thirty minutes for it to 'prime'. He left.
After he left no #2 jets/pumps working as I constantly hear the #2 pump attempting to kick in and out. Also the temperture had been set to 95 and now it goes to 101? The #1 and #2 Jet Incons continue to 'rotate' while the unit is not in use. I can turn on the #1 side pump/jets by pushing the #1 icon while I can shut off the same with the #2 icon? Sometimes before the above problem occurred, both icon buttons infrequently and temporaryly inop. Randomly, the number one pump kicks on (outside the cleaning times). Called the local dealer, says they are working on the problem with CalSpa Tech Assist but don't have an answer yet? (NOT SO) Funny, I call the Cal Spa Tech Line twice. The first time, the Tech Specialist was on vacation, 'can he call you back next week?' The second time 'he was out for the day'. Still no communication from local dealer?

We were happy with the outcome every time. If something needs to be replaced, their rep took it out and took it back to the shop, rebuilt it, and brought it back.
As far as the delivery, the team members were definitely strong enough to pick this thing up and put it in my backyard. They didn't ask me for help. I’m satisfied with Cal Spas. It’s a good product. They also have a showroom. But having a showroom with some live examples, and being able to test the seats out with water in it and see if they're comfortable, would probably be a good idea. This recent purchase was my second Cal Spas. My first one started to leak. In the wintertime, one of the motors was encased in ice, and it froze the whole system out. It shorted out. I called. It was still under warranty. But the guy could not find the leak. He said, “I think it repaired itself.” But I don’t think the problem fixed itself. There was an electrical issue and we had to change the wiring, and I paid for that.
The second Cal Spas is about the same size. It’s got the same amount of jets too. But with the first spa that I bought, I could sit in it and the way the bucket was designed, it was comfortable. Now, the seats, I sit in it, and I almost slide out of the seat. I have to put my feet in the middle just to stay in my spot. Another thing, when I go to open the hot tub, I slip the one side up and I’ll just hold it there. Water would drain out of that top for a few seconds and then, continue opening it. Somehow, there is steam condensing inside the cover and that water then finds a way to a corner and drips down. I was like, “I’ll never buy a Cal Spas again.” But they came out for the warranty issue.

Cal Spas had a beautiful spa on display and we decided to purchase that. The crew came that very next week for the installation. The spa came with a gazebo and some barstools. It has a little bar area and we really like that with some planters, it looks super nice. It's a great size for us and my grandkids also enjoy it. It's like a small pool for them. When it comes to this kind of purchase, be ready to keep good maintenance on it. We've had a couple of issues where we didn't put the chemicals in correctly so we had a little fungus. We had to empty out the spa and suction out all the jets and clean it out real well and refill it.

I went into a spa dealer and liked the colors and the deal that they offered. They were super helpful and nice people. It was easy. And I bought the spa. The quality is superb. I have a pool, and it has a Jacuzzi at the end. It's too hard to heat every time. But I have to keep it. So, I decided to put one on my porch. And it's just always hot. It always stays working. And I've never had one minute problem with it, never had to call anybody. It has a light that changes color, and that has always worked. And the Jets are good. If I went down and looked at the new ones, I would want another one. Soon they will come out with massaging jets that go up and down like my Infinity chair. I like Cal Spas a lot. I'd recommend it.

I went to Secard which is a local Cal Spas dealer, and ordered my spa and got it, which was fine in the beginning until it started having issues. It wasn't the greatest idea to get a Cal Spas. It was made a little cheap. It has had leaks, and it's lopsided. They didn't level it when they put it in. One side of the water is higher than the other side. I've had to have them come out seven times. I also had a heater issue. I had a Bluetooth stereo system put into it. That went on for two years before they finally came out to get that. It was hard to get ahold of them for a long time. That was because of COVID. They were closed. So, we couldn't use our spa for 11 months until they went back into service and could come out and fix the stuff.
Secard was the one that I had to call down to Fontana, who was the nearest one from Hesperia from where I bought the spa. And the one in Fontana had to send somebody. That repairman gave me his direct number because every time I would try to get through them, I couldn't get ahold of them. They wouldn't even message. So, he finally gave me his phone number and I would go to him directly. And he just came to my house and started fixing the spa himself. So if it wasn't for this repairman, it would have been a lot worse. Because trying to go through either one of these stores to get somebody to come out was almost impossible.
I have all the bells and whistles with the spa. It's a large one. I have the lights and the fountains. Some of the things now don't work on it. The jets don't work on half of the spa anymore. I don't have the money to have somebody come change it because my warranty went up right before COVID. So, I was screwed. I just got my income tax and paid off the loan for that spa. Now, I gotta have somebody come out and try to fix the rest of it. I'm just not going to go through Cal Spas because it's gonna cost me more.

I don't have a Cal Spas anymore but I loved it. It worked well. We moved a little over two years ago, and we left the Cal Spas at the other house. I’ve had four spa hot tubs in my lifetime, and that was probably the easiest one to operate and keep the water balance in, for whatever reason. Which obviously, makes it more enjoyable too when you’re not fighting the water all the time.

I had a Hot Springs spa for 20 years, and then the guy who worked for Hot Spring Spas started his own place and said, "This is just as good as Hot Spring Spas and you'll love it and it's great." But I really regret buying this Cal Spas. It's a spa, but if I never had the Hot Spring spa before, I wouldn't have something to compare it to. It's noisy. The system for managing the chemicals isn't as developed. I'm constantly having to add chemicals and it's not even that old. The pillows on the spa have already deteriorated. I wouldn't recommend it. I wouldn't buy it again. I would probably go back to Hot Spring Spas. I'm disappointed.

I've had hot tubs most of my adult life and most of them have had leaks and things falling apart. I had one where the jets would constantly explode and all the ball bearings would spray all over. But I've not had any of that with Cal Spas. The quality held up and it's a year and a half old now. I've had not a single problem and it's the first hot tub that I've had that I can say that.

I already knew that Cal Spas existed, but I didn't look at them until I was at the Valley fair. Also, I read about them. I knew they are all worthy and they were good spas. The installers came in on a flatbed truck set on furniture dollies. And then I have a double gate, so it came on dollies on its side into my backyard. They were nice guys.
I got a good deal. I got the model that only has seats, jets for the spa on one end. It's a large swim spa. But I only got it for the pool part of it, not just the spa side. So it doesn't have a lot of seats. Only the two on the one end that have jets for the spa side. I've had shoulder surgery so the jets on my one side are different than the jets on the other side. That was my favorite spot.
The only thing I'm not happy about my spa is I have a crack at the top of it. I already have Astro Turf down and under the Astro Turf is a bunch of sand because I used to have above ground pools. So the sand is still all there. And then I have Astro Turf on top of it. They told me I needed to put pea gravel down on top of the Astro Turf to be able to level the spa. When the workers came out to deliver it, they said I didn't need to do that. But because of the pea gravel, the spa is not sitting level now. I used it a lot the first year. A lot by half the time the second year. I haven't used it all this year. It has been empty. I have cracks on the top edge because the spa is not sitting level. I have to call somebody out to level it. Cal Spas has not returned my calls back a lot when I called Secard. I don't know who to call. But I took pictures of it and I passed around to people who are interested. I still promote Cal Spas.

The people at the Cal Spas showroom were spectacular. Our landscaper drove over to talk to them about how things worked and they helped explain everything to him. The salesman was great and so was the lady in the office that helped us. There was a really good customer service. But the installation part was a little tough. We had ideal conditions in that we had a brand new home built. But the spa is so large that we had to find a crane company to deliver it into our backyard. Luckily no homes had been built behind us yet. What happened was the crane we hired was short and couldn't get in. And the company didn't bring the backup materials to be able to bring the spa to our front yard. They had to come back out another time which meant we had to hire another crane. We got charged a show-up fee for the crane. That was the downside. The delivery was difficult and unorganized.
That aside, our Cal Spas is of extremely good quality. Everything was installed beautifully. We follow the guidelines in the booklet that we got about how often to clean it and maintain it. With that, ours is in excellent shape. We love the fact that we can switch our Cal Spas back and forth between a spa and a swimming pool. In the area we live in, it gets really hot in the summer but we have access to the spa for the rest of the year. We like how it's versatile that way. We also really like that our Cal Spas is large for a spa. When we use it as a spa, we can swim around in the warm water. We really love our Cal Spas and we're glad we bought it.

If you can get ahold of customer service, they're good, but they don't always work in there. I suppose that with the Coronavirus, they're not always in the office.
I hate this hot tub. It doesn't have the same jet power as the Sundance at my cabin. Cal Spas doesn't come out for service too. They try to talk to you everything over the phone. Right now, I can't get it below 106, so I have to add cold water to it whenever I get in it. I called and they just told me to try to play with the cleaning settings on it.
We are so sorry you are unhappy with your purchase. I was able to reach out to the dealership where you purchased your spa. It appears that they offer phone troubleshooting on how to set your spa controls so you don't have to pay for a service charge. Programing your controls is not a warranty issue and is addressed in the owners manual. It is much easier for you as well, when they want to walk you through the spa functions, than to again, pay for a service man to come out and do those things for you. If you would like them to come out, they will do that in accordance with their store policy. Check your filter cycles, make sure they are not set too high which can add heat to the water. If that doesn't work, call the store they will come out and attend to any technical issues you are having.

Cal Spas is a good quality tub for the price. It's probably one of the better quality tubs out on the market. My friend was looking for a hot tub and talked me into buying one when he bought one. We both bought Cal Spas on the same day at the state fair. The installers were very good. They were very professional. It's very frustrating at times because we have it at our lake cabin. You have to be a chemical engineer to keep the water clean, and we're not there all the time. But we enjoy the hot tub.
We also spend a ton of money on chemicals. We don't use it for a week at a time, and sometimes two weeks at a time. It seems like we're pretty good at it if we get up there once a week. But if we don't get up there once a week, then it's like you get a truckload of chemicals and put it in there. I haven't really got anybody to give me any good answers on how to manage that better. I've heard from other people, "Well, you gotta get a saltwater one." I did spoke to the customer service reps and they were like, "Just dump more chlorine in it." So I just learned, "If it don't look great, just dump a bunch of chlorine in it, dump a bunch of oxidizer in it, put a bunch of oil in it." I just wish somebody would invent a feeder system for it and get a combined composite chemical that would work. It would be really cool.
Just before the year was up, I got three LEDs that are out in mine. I called them and they said, "Yup, yup, we'll fix that under warranty." I said, "Rather than come up there in the winter and try to do it in the winter, why don't you wait till next spring?" They said, "Yup, be happy to do that and we'll mark it down." So they marked it down. Then, in the spring when they were ready to come up there, I said, "This is gonna be under warranty. Ain't gonna cost me anything." "Nope, nope. Won't cost you anything except for the trip up there." The trip up there was gonna be $130. I'm not gonna spend $130 on a warranty item. So I still have three lights that are bad. I said, "Well, why don't you give me the lights?" They said, "Well, take out the ones you have and then bring them in." They said that they would give me the lights. I haven't done that yet. Other than that, the quality of the tub is great.

It was a little tight trying to get it through the gate to the backyard, but they did a fabulous job. They had three or four guys and they manhandled that and put it right through there and set it right in the right spot. I then had a little problem, but they came out and fixed it with no problem. I'm originally from California and I've always heard about Cal Spas. My parents had a hot tub Cal Spas when I was growing up. Then we moved to Minnesota early summer two years ago and we decided we wanted a hot tub in our backyard. We looked at the Minnesota State Fair during that timeframe but we weren't really impressed with the deals there so we went to Cal Spas' storefront. I had a nice conversation with the guy there and it was a painless purchase process. We did take some time to make some decisions because we weren't sure if we wanted the extra jets but all in all, we were very pleased with our purchase. When we first got the hot tub, we had an issue getting it hooked up with an electrician but it was not Cal Spas' fault at all.
We finally got it hooked up and we put the water in. They gave us the starter kit of supplies. But water in Minnesota is extremely hard so it took the whole bottle of pH and alkalinity down to get the levels right but they weren't right because we needed more. We were right in the middle of travel so we were worried that our tub was gonna get destroyed. When I called Cal Spas and explained everything to them, they got some pH down together and gave us a couple of bottles on the house. They had it all tied up in a bag and had it all ready to go so that we could just drop by, pick it up with the kids, go home and put it in the tub. Everything ended up turning out just fine.
Then they had the guy come out shortly thereafter to give us the lesson that they offer to new hot tub owners about keeping the chemicals. We had a problem with water and we went in there and one of the gentlemen who worked there told us how to take care of it. It’s been perfect since. I love the hot tub and it's one of the best things that we could have ever invested our money in.
When we first bought it, we got the lounger in our hot tub and we weren't gonna get the extra jets 'cause we were looking at the cost. We wanted to be smart but we also wanted to take advantage of what we were gonna buy. I told my husband that if we were gonna spend eight grand, we might as well get what we want. So we decided to spend the extra $900, get the jets in there and we do not regret it. It is the best thing we've ever done and we love that thing. It was a great investment and it will be with us for as long as we have it. We also asked how much the tub weighed empty because with our jobs, we sign mobility agreements and we may have to move. But it's well under the weight limit of what we would have so we will probably move it with us.

I love the layout for our Cal Spas. We have that 13-foot length and we have the benches all the way around. It works great however there was a manufacturing defect that can’t be fixed yet until the quarantine’s over. When the installers put the plastic subfloor underneath it, they shot nails into it and they were sticking up. And one of the water hose underneath that’s laying on top of those nails eventually vibrated straight through it and put a hole on it. They can’t get it fixed until this is all over. But beyond that, it's fantastic.

We saw Cal Spas at the entrance of the state fair where we go to. They feel like one of the more reputable companies in the area and we were able to get a pretty good deal on the one we got. Everything is working well. The installation took an hour, and it seemed pretty straightforward. The product we got is spacious. We can easily fit four or six people in there without really any effort. The interface took a little bit of time to get used to but it was not too bad and it's fairly intuitive.
The only thing we found, and we kind of learned this the first winter, was the cost of heating in the winter was pretty extensive and we had it kept to 100 degrees all year and the heating bill went up. It's like $250 to $300 a month just for that winter. So, we dropped this next two years and we really didn't use it that much in the winter. The next two years, we kinda set the temperature down to like 65 or 70. And then the cost went down dramatically. It makes sense but that was something we kinda learned the hard way the first year.

Cal Spas is a well-known brand but we saw it at the state fair. We received good customer service when we got the tub. We installed it ourselves. After getting it installed, we had no help whatsoever. I contacted by phone. I couldn’t find the right manual because we were given the wrong one. And then, I went into a store and the guy said there wasn’t even a manual available for that one. So, it wasn’t until a month or so later did we get the manual for it.
But then, we had a guy come out and help us, and teach us how to use it. He was there not even 20 minutes and that was it. He didn’t really teach me anything. He didn’t explain much because we went through all the options in the menu and he was like, “You don't need to know about that. That's nothing, that’s nothing. You only need to know these three.” It was temperature and speeds, and that was it.
Additionally, our starter kit was for the smaller tub and I had to purchase more stuff because of the iron in the water. And then, once the guy realized that, he said that we only had enough for the smaller tubs. But it’s just the hassle of trying to figure out how much chemical I needed to put in there because I didn’t want to waste it or put in the wrong one. The guy was like, “Well, if it looks like this, then just add a little bit of this.” And was like, “Well, can I get a measurement?” I was supposed to have the store manager come out but he went on vacation, and then, I didn’t hear from him after that. So, I’ve just been learning how to use it.

Everything went okay with Cal Spas, but it could've been better. Customer service is a little bit lacking. You'd call in and it would take a while to get an answer from them. Then, they'd have to farm things out and that took more time to get some things done on it. They used a delivery service and they did fine. They showed up and put it down. The one thing they do not do is the electrical on it. Maybe they should look at having the electrical done too. The quality of the tub is pretty good so far. But the tub I had before was a little sturdier. Also, they matched up the wrong Bluetooth to the sound system in it and they didn't correct it with me.

We did some research online independent of talking to anybody and had some ideas of what we wanted to do and looked at a couple other manufacturers. But we never heard of Cal Spas until we were at the Minnesota State Fair. The gentleman that we worked with was named Dylan. He was very good and very informative. This was the first hot tub we ever bought. I peeked at the ConsumerAffairs website before I bought the spa and they ranked pretty good, so I felt pretty good about the purchase.
In all due respect to the gentlemen that were delivering it, we were about 70 miles from their facility and they had about six other deliveries to do that day. They were thorough and they covered the basics. Would I have liked to spend more time with them? Yes. But as a guy who works on the road too, I can empathize a bit with the fact that they had a lot of work ahead of them because we were their second stop of the day. Cal Spas did an awful good job. They exceeded our expectations. We have been using the tub for a year and a half now. It has been flawless. The local branch where I get my maintenance items from for them has been extremely helpful, very good and very easy to deal with. And they have really been a good resource for me to keep the tub running pretty much maintenance-free since we got it.

There's a couple of things that I'll change with our Cal Spa but overall, it's good. On the corner where there's a shoulder massage or neck massager, the jets are way too low and they don't even get close to my neck. My old one had that and the jets were higher and got down at you. It sprayed some water so they made them lower. Now, they don't hit your neck at all. But overall, I like the quality. It's wonderful. I bought it for medicinal purposes more so than recreational. It's soothing on the back. I used to go to the chiropractor twice a week. Now, I haven't been there in four months.

Everything was perfect during the installation of our bathtub. The three big guys who did that were wonderful and they didn't damage anything. We’ve had our bathtub for the last year and a half now. We're happy and we're definitely enjoying it. We like hot water and I use the tub every single night. But we had to call one time and had some help. We got that all figured out. We have some issues sometimes. It’s random, but the tub won’t let us set the times and dates for the filtration system. The computer board is messed up. My husband contacted Cal Spas and they told him how to reset it by shutting it down and rebooting it. They explained to him that it was like a computer. It all worked great. He hasn't called them back since because he has done that a few times. It works for a while.
We haven't had any other problems. Our neighbor has two filters for his spa and all that kind of stuff. He has a different brand. He has to clean the filters constantly. We don't want to do that. Ours is perfect. We have one big filter which my husband cleans once in a while and we're good to go. We can buy one at 40 bucks which is inexpensive. We got two so one’s always clean.

I didn't like paying for it, but if you want it, that’s what you had to do. Other than that, I like all of the features of our new spa. I like getting in it and relaxing. I appreciate Cal Spas' service, too. I called once because I wasn’t sure about the heater. It seemed like it would come on quite a bit and I'd hear the sound like it was running. The lady informed me that the heater comes on periodically to keep the water up to the temperature you want. So, now I’m kinda used to that and I have no other problem. I don't write reviews too often, but in the case of our $13,000+ Cal Spas EC-867B hot tub I purchased in May 2019 a review is warranted. First off I like to buy American when I can and it was a big selling point for me pitched by the sales rep at Dreamstyle Remodeling as in my experience American made products tend to be better... however this has not been the experience I've had with my Cal Spas hot tub. In the 2.5 months that I have owned this patio ornament it has been unusable (or partly usable if you don't mind flooding your patio and filling it up daily.... As an extra bonus a high water bill will follow at the end of the month as well).
We have had 3 different significant leaks over this period (I swear its like Wack-a-mole), a broken diverter valve, and speakers that stop working that have been repaired/replaced also 3 different times. Concerning our most recent leak the a repair tech was sent out by Dreamstyle a full week after reporting the leak and the tech found that he was unable to fix it, had to order new parts, and will have to completely drain the tub and either lift it or flip it on its side...here comes that water bill again. In fact, the tech's actual suggestion was to see if we could return it and swap it out for a new one. Additionally, due to the hot weather and near constant leaks the inside cabinet is starting to get slimy and gross.
We contacted Dreamstyle as to our desire for a replacement tub and they said that the decision had to come from Cal Spas and that they only sell the tubs and service them. So once again, my family is going through another week and weekend unable to use our hot tub, paying a ridiculously high amount for a water bill, having to get new chemicals, and paying a car-payment size hot tub bill for what's amounted to little more than an overpriced decoration. Bottom Line: If you want a near constant headache, pay a huge sum of money for a low quality product, and have your utilities sky rocket buy a Cal Spas hot tub. If the previous suggestion sounds unpleasant (trust me it is) then buy another brand.

Then when I saw the rep the following year and spoke to her, she gave me some information on how to keep my water clean. When I had to call for some repair issues, they were prompt with getting someone out to take care of those issues as well.

We had a great experience working with Don at the Plymouth Mn location. He was very helpful and educated. This helped us decide quickly that we wanted to buy through Cal Spas which has a great product and warranty. Thank you! -** Family-

We like the price and the size of Cal Spas. We wanted something that was large enough to have enough seats in it but enough room to swim and that would fit our footprint in our backyard. We got a swim spa from them and the installation was great. A bunch of guys showed up and they got it off the truck in the backyard and in position. They made it look easy. The spa is really nice and the maintenance is pretty easy too. It has a good filtration system with UV, the light treatment and keeps everything pretty clean. Everything's been working well.

The Cal Spas sales rep at the fair was very convincing. The installation was done well and I like the speaker system in the hot tub and the lighting. The only thing I don’t like about it is it is too deep. I’m 5’2”, and the seating is too deep.

When we first bought the Cal Spas hot tub, the cover on it didn’t do well. The connection was glued on and it was faulty. It lasted about a week, and then it came loose. I called Chris from Cal Spas and they replaced it. There was no problem since then. The hot tub does what we need it to do. We had the retailer do the installation and the experience was good. He was a good guy. We have had the Cal Spas hot tub for several years now and I would recommend them.

Great store that literally defines customer service. On a recent purchase, we had an issue that was not Cal's fault, but their team was out the very next day (which happened to be a holiday) and went way above and beyond expectations to the make the situation right. Rare occurrence in today's world where a high ticket vendor actually solves a problem all the way through. Cant say enough about the service we received!

I got a Cal Spas tub a year and a half ago. Their reps were very friendly and they took care of me. Their guys did a great job with the installation, too. They rolled the tub in the backyard, set it up, put it in place exactly where I wanted it and left. My kind of an install. It's a nice spa and it works very well for what we need it for. We've got five people in the house, which means there could be up to eight people in it at one time. Plus, it is a lot simpler system to run. The control panels are a lot less cumbersome than my previous one was.

I liked the spa design and got the Cal Spas Bel Air. It can seat eight to 10 people and it's their all-upright seats. There's no lay flat and I like that. We've had the spa for just a year now and we use it once a week or so. The chemicals took a little bit to get used to but we're there now. The Cal Spas team has been a good resource too. They have been helpful with the chemicals and what to do.

We inherited a Cal Spas tub from a family friend and we had that for quite a few years. Then we bought our own about a year ago. We went back to Cal Spas for their reputation and their price point, and their team was great to work with. Their level of customer service was very good. The tub that we got is bigger and our family enjoys it. It's an eight-person tub with the foot jets and water foam, and we try to use it at least four times a week.
