We looked at a couple of different companies but we went with Cal Spas for the price and the warranty. The tub is very relaxing and has helped with my sore muscles and aching joints. The tub has Bluetooth speakers, LED lights, a lounger, a half-moon bench seat, and jets. It's excellent with the exception of some jets we were having some issues with. We're supposed to have some new jets coming in to replace them.

We like the spa, but we hate the gazebo. It’s cheap and made out of the most horrible material. We didn’t think it looked that cheap in the showroom. The guys who put it together did a horrible job and didn’t want to touch up paint when they messed it up. I was just handed some paint in somebody’s used Powerade bottle and I wasn’t too happy with that. I had to hire a handyman to make repairs to the gazebo and make it safe. It was just ready to fall apart or would’ve blown apart in the first wind. I also had my handyman install the snap covers for the lid because the guys who were supposed to install them said they can't do it because of liability. But it seems to me it’d be more of a liability not to have those on to keep the kids out.
We are so sorry that you've had a negative experience. Receiving paint in a used Powerade bottle is unacceptable. Please standby for a call from our Customer Care department so we can see how we can best assist you. Thank you.

It’s only been a few months that I've used the Cal Spas tub but I absolutely like it. It was a very simple and painless installation. The installers just had to maneuver the tub around the back of the house and get it on the patio, and it was a basic plug-and-play scenario. So far, it’s been all good. I was a hot tub fan from many years ago. In fact, I had one in Colorado but it wasn’t a Cal Spas but when I relocated out here, I realized that a hot tub was a necessity in my world because of what I do for a living. I have a very physical and active situation so it gives me that hour in the evening of relaxing and just being able to unwind. Overall, I was very satisfied with the whole process and I’ve been real happy with the product.

I bought a hot tub 20 years ago and I didn’t have a very good experience with that one. I like my Cal Spas better. My Cal Spas hot tub took a little longer to get delivered than I expected. But I understand that because it was during a huge sale that they had. The installation went fine, they came when they said they were going to come and they took my old tub away and put the new one in. It’s something for the family to enjoy together, so that’s a positive.
We love how much you are enjoying your spa. Keep having fun with it for the rest of the year! We're sure you'll have a blast!

Purchased a Cal Spas PL880 from Ricks/Spa Max in Corona Ca in Nov-2016. We paid over $10k for the spa and told it was a 2016 floor model top of the line. Sales rep sold us on the galvanized steel frame (vs wood frame that can get water rot) and all the features of the Platinum series from Cal Spas. "This was Cal Spas best hot tub." He offered a discount if we purchased their showroom floor model. He assured us it was never used – brand new.
Well 30 days later they delivered it and to our surprise it was not a "steel framed unit". It was made out of 2x4s stapled together. Come to find out it was nearly 2 years old and the sales person said the manufacturer changed the serial number plate and tried to push it as new and he didn't know!! The spa evidently had been at several home shows and county fairs of the last 2 years. Well he offered to replace it with a new 2016 steel framed unit that was built 10/2105 (2016 model). Only difference was the color is Desert Horizon instead of the White shell we had.
Well today 12/26 they delivered the new 2016 spa. The spa was so scratched and had stress fractures all over the outer lip. The edges were so worn and the cabinet we scratched everywhere. Mossy yellow water was spewing from the jets. The spa had been thru a war zone. I told them to take them both back and refund my money. I took photos of everything. Can't believe a manufacturer as large as Cal Spas would deliberately change the ID plates and serial numbers to try and get rid of a used and refurbished spa. This is actually an illegal act and we will probably be taking the experience a bit further. Still waiting to see when the company will give us our $5200 deposit back?!!

We’ve had two previous spas from Cal Spas. What I was looking forward to when we decided to get another one is that we had natural gas that time. We've sold the house with the pool heaters we got from them in '92. We moved here, down the desert, so we’ve had another heater down here. They were available then and we were over the top happy with it. We found a guy who works on the spas and does maintenance stuff that we couldn’t do particularly, and he was very helpful.
When we were gone traveling, the spa had a leak. It freezes here, and he said he's gonna fix it. The heater is probably 10 years old and he said it needs to be replaced. I told him he needs to find it a home, which he did and I was thankful for that. But then we hadn’t had one for a long while. He got one but there was no gas. I was really upset ‘cause I don’t particularly care that it’s electric.
I got back and the bill was so over the top expensive because of it. The heater was going on every half hour or 40 minutes. They sent somebody out, checked everything, and he says it’s fine. Our bill was close to $200 and that never really got resolved. I could have called Cal Spas and put this thing away. However, the remedy from Secard Pools was to change it from Standard mode to Economy because we don’t use it that often. We can just pop it and heat it up when we need to, and I agreed with that. It's a bold-faced lie when the label "Cal Spas" is on the product but nobody from Cal Spas has an answer of why it’s doing a certain thing. I was very happy with their product previously, but with the recent one, not so much.
Hello Debbie. We are so sorry that you've had a bad experience with your spa. Please contact us so we can assist you further. Thank you.

My neighbor bought a hot tub from Cal Spas five months ago and told me about it. Then I bought the 14 or 15 feet long tub that's got a couple of jets, a three seater on one side, nothing in the middle and one big jet on the other side. Their customer service was really good but I would not recommend them because I'm not happy with the product. After spending so much money and paying cash for it, I did not get what I ordered. There are supposed to be six small LEDs all around the tub that I wanted. However, before I got the tub, they called me to say that they don't make those LEDs anymore for whatever reason. I told them was fine with it as long as I still have the two at the bottom. But when it was delivered, the two LEDs at the bottom were also missing. I thought it was not a big deal. But one evening, when I turned on the tub, it just wasn't enough.
And on one side of the tub that has a big jet, the panels are kind of deforming, bending, twisting and were not where they were before. So I went back to the store and they told me that they're going to send somebody down. When somebody came by, he said I needed to run the tub 800 times a day and other stuff about it but nothing's been done about the lights or the panels. After that, I have not had a chance to go to their store. However, if they wanted to take care of something, they'll be down right away or at least say that they'll take care of it in six months or a year. Also, it doesn't take much to take side panels off, drill a hole and put a light in it. But Cal Spas didn't lead me anywhere and I just gave up after that.
I've also seen a couple of panels off of my tub. When the technician was trying to hook up the tub, I had hired an electrician to wire up the thing. And when he took a panel or two apart and I saw what's behind, to me, cheap stuff was used in it and I'm not impressed at all. A lot of the screws go through the outside panels but when they go in, they're not even into the beam. They're just sitting there. It also seemed like they were trying to fill up holes.

We got a hot tub from Cal Spas and it's fine. Years ago, we had one from another manufacturer, and their products are pretty close. We went with Cal Spas this time because the saleslady was great. She was very knowledgeable, took care of every need, and answered all the questions I had. We got a Plug & Play. It's a 110 plug-in and doesn't have to be hardwired. It has about 35 jets. Everything was fine, except for a couple of issues with the delivery. They strapped the spa on incorrectly and the foam that's in the cover had about four smash marks on it, and they told me there's nothing they can do about it. It was the delivery people who were at fault, though, and not Cal Spas. It's been great to relax a little more with our Cal Spas hot tub.

Cal Spas have better price and seemed more energy-efficient than other spa and hot tub providers. The installation team was good and professional. They seemed to be having a good time at work, but not obnoxious. They were joking around with each other. They got the tub in super quick. The spa did raise the electricity rate, obviously, like they all do. But it has positively impacted my life and I have no complaints. I enjoy it on a weekly basis, and we're doing good with it.

We've had the Cal Spa bathtub for 2 years now and I'm happy with it. My wife likes it, too. The features are real good and it still works well, especially the heater and the well-made lights. The water and power are not putting an addition in the bill so it mostly works really well for us. The price was even right. The people who did the job were very professional, good, and did a very clean job. They picked up everything, didn't leave any mess behind, and didn't do any mess. Everything was done right. I would recommend it because it's real economical and have recommended it to my sister and she has already purchased one.

When we talked to the people at the store where we bought the swim spa, they told us to get a particular voltage setup in preparation for our spa. So, we did that. We had an electrician come out and then when we got the spa, it said that we needed a different amperage on the spa. We didn't get the manual for the spa until the day that it was delivered or else I guess, we could've figured that out for ourselves. But we just took them at their word. Our installation, on the other hand, went great. The people were helpful. They came when they said they were going to come. It went smoothly. We loved our spa. It made our summer, fun.

I really liked the salesman from Cal Spas so I gave him a call back and decided to get a swim spa. The installation went very well. I exchanged some text messages with their customer service team and they got back to me promptly. We're in our swim spa five days a week. The swimming spa allows me to exercise. I got bad feet and so I can't walk or run so I'm able to take advantage of the spa from that perspective.
The one thing I didn't like was I had to get outside vendors to complete the project. I had to hire an electrician to assist with installation, a crane operator to help deliver the product, and someone that took care of the decking. I think that it would have been nice if those option would have been available to me if I wanted to do them. But I was given a list of people that I could reach out to and that was really uncomfortable because I had to coordinate with other people to make sure the job gets done.
It wasn't under one roof. So, things could have gone wrong on a day and it would have been a very difficult situation. Things went right because the electrician that I hired showed up, the crane operator showed up. But had something like that not happened, then it could have been bad. But that was the only negative part of the experience. I have a beautiful deck built around it, a composite deck and I also have an Alumawood cover built over the swim spa, and it looks just amazing. It really turned out nice.

We made our first purchase from Cal Spas last August. It's quite a bit of money but they included the housing and the price was good. I had the hot tub installed outdoors which was free and it's working good. It's an additional feature in the house, however, we very seldom use it now because it's too cold. But the tub is still on to keep maintaining the temperature. When I asked questions about how to use it, like how to put the chemical thing, they responded very professionally and were really helpful. The hot tub's great and I'm satisfied. It's a very good and happy experience.

We live up in Hesperia. And up here, there is a sad dearth of available outlets for hot tub shopping and we had to go down the hill to San Bernardino to look around. We went to the one place and there they were-- great displays, great people, lots of help, good product and that's where we found out about Cal Spas. The Cal Spas tubs were in our area to look at and pretty much anywhere else you went. There wasn't a lot of market penetration apparently of the competitors. It's really a question of what we had available to us to look at and Cal Spas appeared to be the product. So, we just went ahead and went with it.
This is the first time I've ever owned one. Having it installed was pretty interesting. We had to put down a concrete slab and I had to measure the distances between all of the portions of the installation so that the power cable would come up in the right place. I got those measurements and put some string down to mark out where it was going to go. It went real well. Naturally, I was a little nervous about aligning everything properly but it worked out beautifully. The installation process was extremely easy once I got the electrical concrete slab all worked out.
It is what they told me it would be, the process was extraordinarily easy, and quite frankly, it's a wonderful thing. When I get out of that tub after 15 minutes of cooking, I'm ready to go hit the couch and get dozy and sleep well for the night. It has positively impacted my life. It's without question, a luxury item and I guess for those who are not partial to hot tubs, it's no big deal. I've always enjoyed a good hot tubbing. But if you can sit in a hot tub for 15, there's definitely a health benefit, whether it's just relaxation or more. But I sure love mine and it was surely worth the money.
Hi Robert,
We're so happy that you are enjoying your hot tub! We know that you will enjoy it even more now that the cold weather is here! Have a great holiday season!

We’re very pleased when we found out Cal Spas was up here in High Desert especially that all shops for pool resources that were here a few years back closed. We went to their showroom and was pleased with how they approached us, how they were very helpful in answering our questions, and demonstrating anything that we asked about on the spa. When they came out and delivered it, they were atop of putting it together and how they had to get it in to our fence. They were also superb in letting us know how to work on the chemicals, the water and the temperature. They were very professional in setting everything up and explaining everything to us, and reassuring as we watched them put it together. Everything went very smoothly. The model we got seats five and it’s what we liked in comparison to the different features of the other models.
The experience was great all the way around. All our questions were answered when my husband talked to them over the phone, when we went to their store and during the setup. Everybody knew what they were speaking and the product has come to be what we were told about like its efficiency and quality. We appreciate the quality and the experience because we've had other things in the past but Cal Spas' was a smooth transition into purchasing and enjoying the product after it's been received. And the team has kept in touch with us.
My husband and I are both 70 years old and the tub is most needed to keep up our health. Having the tub impacts my life by helping achy bones not to ache anymore. And it's very comforting because when I get in there, the warmth of the water is relaxing. I have some disabilities as far as knees and legs and I can work out, do my exercises within, and it gives me the mobility that I need in keeping my legs and knees in working condition.

Cal Spas was the worst experience I have ever had in my life. I almost got killed one time in a car accident and in a boating accident but dealing with Cal Spas was worse than that. I bought a spa in 2014 and we had a problem with the shell because it was crazing all around the lip where it's exposed over on the outside. It had some fractures in it that can be seen. But I was told that shell had been discontinued because of that exact issue.
I also dealt with Aaron pools because I bought the spa from them, but they were pushing everything on Cal Spas. They did everything they could do and they were working their butts off to try to get this and that. Then Cal Spas sent one of the guys whom I bought it from to Texas and go take a class on how to fix crazing. Months went by, and when I called Aaron Pools, they kept saying that they're waiting on Cal Spas. I was almost to the point of hiring an attorney and suing Aaron Pools and Cal Spas, which I wish I would have done because I probably would have gotten a faster result. More months went by and they finally agreed to get me a new spa, but several more months went by before they called me in to choose the spa shell I wanted. I went in and picked out the shell, and that's when things started picking up. But it took a year before they agreed to send me out a new unit. It was pathetic.
I have a new unit now but I don't agree with them not honoring a new warranty. So, I have a brand new spa and a warranty for my old spa that is for 3 years on some parts. My brand new spa has some stuff not even under warranty anymore. I'm also a business owner and I would never do that to one of my customers. My new spa unit has all new parts and new pumps but I only have one year left on parts warranty. If a pump goes out after November next year then I gotta come out of my pocket.
Now, because of this experience, Aaron Pools is not selling Cal Spas anymore and they've switched over to Jacuzzi. Evidently, Cal Spas is not a reputable company and it's horrible customer service. I tried to call Cal Spas numerous times and I left messages for people. I even called some lady who's high up in California. But her voicemail box was always full. She could've checked her messages and made some room for people to call her and leave a message. I left a message and I'm still waiting on her to call me back and that was six months ago.

I got Cal Spas' Grande and its installation went easy overall. On the other hand, a few things have happened with the spa itself. The first thing I noticed is one of the jets came completely out of the hole immediately and so I talked Scott at Mirage Spas. He told me to screw it back in but one of the ears on the lock physically broke. It took a little while to explain that to him. I'm a mechanical person so I knew what happened. Also, Cal Spas puts a lot of these little black 'spiders' basically with three little holes or four little holes and they attach to the jets. They're plastic things and probably cost 25. They shouldn't even put them on because they all break constantly. They're junk and are not made right.
Two months in, my wife noticed that it's always wet on one corner. It was leaking from underneath where the motor part was. They had to send the guys out multiple times to fix it because they tried to fix a couple of times, probably trying to do a patch job. In the end, they had to order a new elbow wing from Cal Spas and its size different than anything you can get anywhere. That was fixed and it went smooth after but they tore one of my lock tabs for my hot tub cover. They didn't unlock the hot tub cover and lifted it up and ripped one of the tabs off. They also managed to mess up the door because they kept having to take the door off to get to where they were trying to fix that plumbing. So they broke a little piece of the door as well. Scott it willing to fix both those things for me but I haven't had time to go and pick up the parts off of one of his hot tubs and switch them out.
In addition, when I first got the tub, the plumbing underneath had 2 suction things but almost immediately, it only had suction from one. I'm a toilet technician so, when something works one way at first and doesn't work that way later, something is different and I want to know what's different. But Scott told not to worry about it and as long as I had the suction, it's fine. Other than that, the hot tub works wonderfully.

My husband was looking for a hot tub. We needed it for medical reasons. I was diagnosed with a disorder and needed it for my body, to help relax my muscles. My husband went to the Cal Spas store and spoke to some people there, and he looked around. He basically knew what he wanted and we got a good feel from them. The reps were all very friendly and helpful. We've had our hot tub from them since May. We had it put in, and that was all well and good. My husband is now literally in the hot tub six out of seven days a week, even with the temperature going down for the cold season.
However, we've had one issue with them. Some of the paneling on one side warped and pulled away from the base of the foundation. My husband spoke with them and they said, "Just send them some pictures of the damage." It's been about a month, but he's yet to hear back from them on the email of the pictures that he sent. Nevertheless, aside from this one issue with the warping, it's been great with them. We absolutely love the hot tub. We also own a pool and get all of our supplies for our pool from them as well. Cal Spas had good reviews so we purchased our tub from them. They did a good job placing it where I wanted but they didn't install it. I had to hire an electrician. I've been meaning to call them because the little plastic things that go where the jets are, they're breaking. I've already had three of them break. I don't know if that's a warranty issue or they're just cheaply made. It's not good when you paid an amount close to $9,000 and just for the first two weeks, they're already breaking. But, I'm satisfied, with the tub. We try to stay cool in the summer, not really heating up the water and then warm in the winter.

I was initially buying from Endless Pools since my fiance wanted something she could actually swim on. However while I was online looking for Endless Pools, I'd seen Cal Spas and they came out cheaper by thousands. A lot of people told me that Cal Spa are not swim spas but they have very good Jacuzzi tubs plus the company has been around for a while and it's a good brand. I eventually chose Cal Spas since they at least gave me a lot of information about where I could go and do things on my own when it turned out that the electricians that they recommended were ridiculously expensive. I think they're in cahoots with the person that was gonna run the concrete. It was really shady and I didn't like it.
We got the Swim Spa with two river jets, 15 feet by 32 inches. I wasn't happy with the installation but the work got done. Their sales people need to know that when it's necessary to put in a reinforced concrete slab, the correct dimensions are needed on the part where the electrical supply conduit would be put. The person that gave us our estimate was way off. He don't know what the hell he was talking about nor did he care. He was just trying to sell the product and we had to do a lot of modifications which cost me more money than it was supposed to. I didn't like that at all and I would never ever tell anybody to buy a Cal Spas from the people I bought.
They told us that we won't get the spa on display, they only get any spas when they sell them otherwise they had to make room. They didn't tell me however that it takes 21 to 28 days for the product to come in. After a month, I called them since the spa hadn't shown up. It showed in their system that it was delivered though, so I had to go back to the store. They had to redo the paperwork only to find out the spa had been delivered to their store. I waited two months to get my spa and when I did, the benches were off so they had to turn to the reinforced concrete, messing them up.
Their sales reps seemed friendly and knowledgeable, but I really think they need to know a little bit more about the product other than just the basics. They are just like used car salesmen that show the nice, prettiest product but when the customer comes back for any question after paying the money, the salesmen don't know who the client is. That lady knew that the spa that came to her store room was supposed to have been the one sent to my house. I can tell by the way she answered the question that she knew it was a mistake, but she tried to cover it up.
It was a bad experience but we got the spa in the end. However I also had to overpay the electricians for the wiring. We had to chop up one part of the concrete to re-position the conduit that hooks up to the electrical part of the spa because it didn't work where it originally was. The installers also ended up being here a little bit longer than anticipated and they tried to make it quick because they had to install several things that day. That was frustrating and I could even hear the installers voicing their distress. The installers made it work and stuck around to make sure I was satisfied. I'm happy with that. For the first two months, I was expecting to see that the concrete slab all cracked up, twisted, and a big mess but that didn't happen.
Although most of the experience was horrible, the product is fine. The selections on how to set it up for the cleaning could've been a bit more simplified but overall, the spa works as advertised. My fiance loves it and she's in it three or four times in a week so it's getting its use. As long as she's happy, I'm happy. Also, the Cal Spa product is good value.

I bought a Cal Spas 2016 Swim Spa S1325 from Secard. It's a big spa, I like it, and the price was a lot reasonable. The other ones were way out of hand as far as the price was. Even with the price being lower than the others, it was just as good if not better. I have a six-person Master spa and they're about the same in quality but Cal Spas is a swim spa so it's way bigger. The controls and the jets are a little better on the Cal Spas. They also have a better reputation and more people are familiar with them than Master Spa.
Our Cal Spas product is above-ground and the delivery and the setup was good. I had a little warranty work done on it and I had a good experience with that because they came out right away. The contractor was really good, friendly, and knew what he was doing. Some of the light had come undone during the delivery or on the truck, but the put them back in and fixed it. He did what I wanted him to do so I have no complaints, but I didn't deal with them that much. Since having Cal Spas, it's impacted my wife's life better than mine because she wanted something to swim in and I wanted a hot tub. But it has cured two problems for both us and we're both happy with it. It's a good value and I enjoy it.

I got the Patio Escape Plus Special Edition from Cal Spas. When the installation guys brought the tub, they looked like they were having a difficult time, but they finally figured out how to get it off the truck and get it in the backyard. Once they put it together, the paint on the wood part of the countertop was warped so we called Cal Spas and they took pictures for them to replace it. But so far, they have not done that. They need to come and fix that wood.
I still got stuff to learn about the tub and it would've been nice if we could have someone explain to us how to punch the buttons and how they lead to changing the lights. I wish they would've also put in a different type of knob for the controls because what we got now is a push button, and if I keep on pushing the button too much, I'm going to lose the lights. It would be nice if they had a button that controls the lights or the power of the machine instead of using the electric power to turn the power button off, or something that would control the machine automatically where it comes back on or off every hour, on its own.
And when I found out that the lights inside the tub makes the same color as the gym, I flicked it over but I can't get back to it. Then one can get locked out using the buttons. The problem is there’s one only one button that controls the lighting, heating and other features. They need to put all the buttons separate from each other, not all in one. But other than that, I love the product. It's so nice having the spa especially when I wanted to relax after working out from the gym or coming home from work.

We were looking for a particular type of spa and ended up dealing with one of the Cal Spas dealers. They dropped the ball where they had to expedite it. For some reason, the order didn’t get put through so they were about three weeks late on the delivery which really upset my wife. We had to approach the company, figure out what was going on, and keep pushing them for answers until they finally took care of it. We got the 13-foot swim spa and have had it for a little less than a year now. However, it's not what we were told it would be. We had a Coleman Spa before and we really liked it. We wanted Cal Spas this time due to the availability of the store in our area and also because we like the guy at the store. The sales person was not pushy and told us what we wanted. I really liked that I got the very much of a no BS type of buy from him. He didn’t try to sell us something that we didn’t want. I really respected that. He was very available and answered questions. He listened to our needs associated with it and he matched them perfectly. I’m glad we went with them. I usually use the spa very early in the morning. I’ll hop in for 30 minutes before I go to work. It also gave our son a place that he can splash around. He’s four. And since it’s already warm, he can use it year-round instead of just a certain number months in the summer.

I visited the local store in my area and a gentleman at the store helped, showed me around, showed me the pricing, and explained to me. He was very friendly and did a good job. We went with a decent one which was about $4500 and it's an exterior spa. It was delivered and the team did a great job. They were friendly, showed up on time, and set it up. I purchased one Cal Spas when they used to have their dealer right here at Ontario 63. My first pack came from them and it was wonderful. I never had any problems, and the people were very professional. The person that I dealt with was on top of everything. When I went looking for them again, I found out they were no longer there. When Yelp them, Cal Spas doesn't have stores anymore, just dealers.
I wanted a hot tub, and the guy there who told me he was the manager, said that they had two in the premises. I asked him to tell me the difference between one and the other, and then as I decided to buy one of them and selected the color, he told me that it had to be manufactured. I also wanted to purchase the gazebo to go with it, and he showed me that they carried it in there too, so I ordered that as well. He was able to answer all my questions and seemed to know what he was selling, so I felt a bit comfortable. I gave my down payment to have this tub built, and they were going to call me when they were going to deliver it.
The delivery was horrible. The Cal Spas distributor told me six weeks and then six weeks went by and nobody ever had the courtesy to call me about what was going on. I called Vince and he had to call the people about where they were going to transport the spa from. All they could tell me was they were either too busy or the delivery could not be done. I waited more than eight weeks for them to deliver. Then on the day they delivered it the one that they were bringing to the place was the same size as the previous spa that I had come through the same area which was the side of the house. The people didn't want to bring it in from there because according to them, the measurements wouldn’t fit. I had to have an air conditioner that I had in there removed, which cost me $350 to do so and install again.
I wasn't ready up to my head with the delay, so I scheduled for the following week. The following week, the installers came and they were going to install the gazebo, but when they installed, they broke one of the panels in the front of the hot tub. It was cracked and it had a big dent which was very obvious. They also scratched the tub on the top where one could see it very well. Then the gazebo was installed like I installed it myself. Nobody knew the parts would not even match together. They had all the nails where they drilled and they could knock off through there and they opened another hole. It was horrible and I was paying $4000 for this.
I called and complained to the Cal Spas distributor, and the lady who answered the phone yelled and told me that it's not their custom to deliver things like that. I took pictures and sent them to her so that she could see what I was talking about. When she received the pictures, her answer to that was they had to see when they could fit me in their schedule to fix the problem. We went back and forth for four weeks more.
I have to have an attorney involved for the distributor to come and fix the problem, which has caused me more money. The only thing that they replaced was the panel and the only other thing that their rep did was make the gazebo to pull it all apart and have it rebuilt again the right way. I didn't want to proceed any further than that, but I definitely would never go down to their store and buy anything from them because they’re the worst people I can deal with. Overall the product is good, and that's why I went in there to get the same product again. I had no problems with the tubs in the past, but the distributor makes Cal Spas look really bad.

My neighbor had recommended them, but I did all of my research on the internet. I asked for the top 10 spas that are reliable and has low repair cost. One of them was Arctic Spa, and the other one was Cal Spas. The place in Florida offered a $10,000 spa that included everything - shipping it out here and setting it up. And I thought if they can do it that cheap then I should be able to find one in California. It's gotta be $2000 less. But I didn't find any. I found Cal Spas and they were in Pomona. They were said that I had to go see them at a swimming store. I can't just go out to their factory, but I had to buy it through an authorized dealer. Secard Pools was the closest Cal Spas distributor so I went there.
I got a swim spa installed. It's seven feet by 14 feet. So it's very large. I had to take down a block wall. My house is on the corner and the trees or the electrical poles made it impossible for me to have a crane lift it over the fence which is why I had to take that down. The people come out. There were two crews. We had to tear all the small trees. They were very careful and responsible. They managed to get this two ton marble off of a great big huge flat bed and put it on a couple of dollies and move it into the backyard. They asked me where I wanted it. They made little chalk marks. So once they put it down, it stayed exactly there. And then they positioned the spa and plugged it in. They took off the wrappers and set up the internal things. And all I had to do was put in the hose.
The installers were very nice. I could tell they had done it many times before because they didn't do a lot of talking. They just went here and did the job. They laughed about the block wall because no one knew that when the original owners put it up, they filled it with cement. It was a nightmare trying to get it off. They tried cutting it and then they tried knocking off brick by brick. Finally they drilled a couple of holes, wrap a chain around it, and had to use a truck to pull it down. Each one of these blocks was full of cement. No one was gonna go through that fence. It was kind of a big deal and when the Cal Spas people came out, they had to make sure that all of the debris was out of the way.
The head guy did all the talking and ordering. He gave me starter kit, but they could have spent a little more time explaining it. They hand me the bag and they said it was all set up. All I need is to put in water. Later on I wanted to change something I didn't know how to do. I would have liked a video where I can read it and replay it so that I know what I'm doing.
When I first started putting it together, I had trouble breathing the chlorine so I went to a bromine mixture. For the first couple of months I just had a devil of a time. I finally called Cal Spas and they were real helpful. The guy told me what I had to do. I ended up going Leslie's Pool Supply and brought in a sample and they would test the water for me and then they told me, "You got to put one quarter cup of this. Two and two thirds cup of that. Three tablespoons of that." And none of that was in any of the brochures that I got. After that I finally got it adjusted and it's been great.
I'm a short, fat, old lady, and I've already lost 20 lbs. I go out there at least once a day, sometimes twice a day. I usually spend two hours or three hours initially. And then if I can, I'll spend another two hours in it. I really like it. You can turn on the propeller thing and it pushes water at you. It gives me more freedom because when you're in water, you don't weigh anything. So I can move my arms and legs when I swim. I've had some friends over and they all get in. It's just been a really wonderful experience.
Hi Sherry! We're so happy that you enjoy your spa and have lost weight using it! Sorry to hear about that hassle with the wall but we're glad it got resolved. Let us know if you need anything!

The water is great because I got sore bones and muscles. However, the spa's control panel is not user-friendly. I have four buttons with the words jets, lights, arrow up, arrow down and you have to push these different ones to get it to do one action. Then to change the different types of programs whether it be sleep mode or economy mode, you have to push these buttons multiple in a sequence. It's like a coded pad and not like pushing the word mode and change its mode. I told my wife that we shouldn’t spend another $5000 just to get the user-friendly panel. But everything was fine. It turned out to be a pretty good experience with Cal Spas, except for the top that secures down the spa. You can buy a top that comes with it and you can upgrade it. And the one that came with it, all it did was fold up. The one that I had bought that was designed for it has two arms that hold it up so you can get in it. When you close it, you just hit a latch and it comes back down. A gust of wind hit it and ripped it completely right off that spa. No defects, no nothing but it is not secure. Someone needs to upgrade it. We live in an area where there's rain and sometimes wind. A small gust of wind can actually take that lid.
Unfortunately, it was still underneath warranty but the company that I bought it from tried to find everything in their power for them not to replace that lid. They even quoted Mother Nature, which was so bizarre. Mother Nature doesn't cover the warranty on the spa itself. We ended up spending another $400 to put a new lid on it and then flipped the new arms on it because the arms were bent. The people that installed the spa were courteous, punctual, and perfect except for they did not come equipped. The manufacturer is sending out these spas and all the pieces are not there. So that means that whoever is warehousing is not packaging all the parts. I had to take one of the workers down to the local hardware store and we had to pick up a piece of hardware to supplement or actually to replace the item that was missing.
The spa is awesome to have. We use it primarily in the winter. It's hot to get in in the summer because it gets up to 122. I can't wait 'till winter time so I can get in it. It's enjoyable knowing I have it and I'm happy with the spa. I would recommend people buying the spa but I wouldn't recommend them going back to those people. The people that sold me the spa were kind and the sweetest person on the world. But once you get that apartment, then the true person comes out. They were rude. I would not go back.
That lady that sold me that spa was sweet. But, when I went in to try to get that thing repaired or replaced, she just went on to irate mode. "No. We're not doing that." We've gone somewhere else to buy the chemicals and we have another place that we go to if we have any questions. Sadly when you call them, it's hard to get an answer. It's like you're trying to pull a tooth out of them for some information. They'll give you the answer but it takes so long to get it.

I've heard a lot of good things about Cal Spas. They had the displays at the fair, I liked what I saw and picked one out. Everything was done very efficiently the day it was installed and the installers were great. They came in, knew what they were doing, put it right up and told us what to do because we wanted to fill it later. It was a real quick deal and a very pleasant experience overall. Then when I had problems turning the heat down, all I did was call the one up here in Victorville and he was very informative. He walked me through it so now I know how to do it. I've also called him to get filters. I haven't had any problems with it. We love the hot tub and it's really nice when I get home from work.

I’ve had Cal Spas before and I also saw them at the Kern County fairgrounds. I purchased another one that's gray and is for six people but sits five. There was a little problem with the installation process having to do with the timing. I was told a certain delivery date but the delivery didn't happen. I had paid it upfront so I was concerned about when it would be delivered so when the initial delivery time came and went and the product still wasn't delivered I called to see what was going on. I was given another date and that came and went too. No one called me to find out what was going on. I went in person to their office and it wasn't a pleasant experience.
I saw a sign that they weren’t there at the office. What happened was their staff was at the fair during that time. Their guy got a little irate and got upset like I was bothering him. I told him that I was trying to find out why the spa was not here yet and that maybe he could do a follow-up as it was paid for. It made me a little nervous. The communication was not good, but we finally settled it and I got my spa. Their staff realized he was a little bit out of line and he called and apologized too.
The spa is gray and it works fine. But I’m having a little problem with the electrical pad. When I push the button, I have to keep resetting it in the electrical box because sometimes it doesn’t pick up. When I try to hit the jets to make them turn on the way they should, sometimes they won’t turn on at all. Other than that, it’s been a very nice product. One of the reasons I got it is because of my foot injury, to help me improve it. Hopefully, with the massaging and the water movement, it would help it, and it has, which is a good thing. It's also for the relaxation part and to get rid of the tension. The spa is one of my favorite purchases and I’m glad about it.
It’s a good product for anyone to have. I prefer it over a swimming pool. I’ve had both and I wouldn't ever want another pool but I’d never want to be without my spa if I had a choice. It really has helped my well-being and my health. I get in it at least maybe once or twice a week. It’s really relaxing and therapeutic. But I don’t use it the way most people use it. I could be in there an hour or an hour and a half because I don’t have it hot. I keep it lukewarm and I find that way, I could be there longer and use it to cool down when it’s hot outside. It serves its purpose even if it’s not hot. If I had it hot like at 100 and something with the heat, I’d be out in 10 minutes. It would be too hot. On the whole, it's been a soothing experience.

Everything worked out great. They had great installers. They rolled it off, set it in where I was at, explained everything to me, plugged it in, I put water in it, and I was in it two hours later. However, I don’t think the maintenance in the handbook was explained very well. But the spa has been great and I like it. The people who I bought it from were very helpful especially in trying to figure out a way of getting it in into my yard which was very difficult. I just put it in a filter cleaning solution, which if they'd had told me that when I bought the tub, I would have bought two filters because this filter is a pain in the butt. I’ve taken so many pictures of it and measurements, emailed them to people, and I still do not have another filter for the tub. I would have shut it down and not even run it for at least 24 hours so I can clean the filter, which isn't good especially in Colorado because it gets pretty cold up here. I tried to reach out to the distributor and when I managed to get them to answer me finally, and the place they told me to contact to get the filter was a big mess up. I'm still working with just one filter and I already gave up on those guys.

It was also the decor of my house that's why I chose them. The model I have seats three people. It's very hot in California right now, so I sit in there, not turning it off so it's almost like I'm swimming in a pool. When I turned on the lights for the spa, it's like a disco ball because it has rainbow colors. I don't know if it's the model I got but they should have something different than that. I was at the mall and Valley Spa was having swim spas and found out about Cal Spas which they have on sale. I chose them over other manufacturers because of the price and availability. They told me what I needed to do to get the slab put on and gave me the number for the electrician that they use and somebody who would build the deck around it because it was going above ground and they helped me with getting everything going. They had no problems. Our spa was brought in before they assembled it, was put on pillows and was put perfectly on the slab. Since then, I got the lid off of it so I don't have to do it myself and got the chemicals down. It's there when I want to use it.
I love my sun spa and I'm very satisfied except for the outer covering on the spa. It tended to warp because it's in a sunny area and I'm in the desert but Valley Spa had somebody come in. They go "We can take it off and put a new one on there" but that would ruin my deck. They just put some extra wood screws in there to keep it down. My deck too just started to fade so that's how hot it gets, but it's great. Everything works well and it's very relaxing and I enjoy it a lot when I go out there. I also had such a great experience with Valley Spa promoting Cal Spas that they took care of any questions I might have had and they’ve been very helpful for anything I've come up with on how to take care of the lid and how to take care of the spa. I contacted Cal Spas and they sent a local tub supplier to fix the problem, but they were not able to get a proper seal and parts had to be ordered.
We returned home to Canada before the repair was completed so I don't know if it is fixed properly or not. The issue I have is the bill for a service call for $250.00. You should not have to pay to have a brand new product repaired, especially if the issue is the fault of the manufacturer. This was poor workmanship and zero testing or quality control at the factory. I contacted Cal Spas by email but have yet to receive a response. We have several other spa dealer closer to us like Hotsprings, Caldera, Bull frog, Jacuzzi and Sundance to name a few. There were a lot more and wet tested them all. We finally decided on a Cal Spa.
Once we get it, a month later it gets a leak! Also one of the lights was not working on the corner. It takes K & B pools approx a month to come out here due to weather and they wanted to make sure they had all the parts since they were so far away. Once they came out come to find out the light wasn't even hooked up and it was leaking because the fittings or something was loose.
NOW we have already replaced 2 of the 5" power storm wagon wheels and 3 more are breaking. This is going to be very costly if we have to purchase 2 or 3 every other month. That is ridiculous. I would expect that from a cheap tub but not a $8k tub. We can't afford to keep replacing jets. The seats are low to the ground which makes getting up very difficult and the well is small (if 7 adults were to sit in the spa we would have to have our legs on top of each other). Although I contacted the manufacturer immediately they refused to take the spa back or consider giving us credit towards a tub that would be more comfortable for us.

We've also replaced the motor through warranty because Cal Spas already replaced the motor in it but it just never worked. My husband called their rep but he never returned his calls. So my husband had to go in town every time to get business taken care of. It was hard to get a hold of their customer service rep and everything he promised never happened until I spoke to somebody at corporate and she helped me get through to a repair person that does warranty work here in town.
Our other used Cal Spas have been wonderful but with this new one, it seems the actual plastics that cover the knobs where the filter is have enormously faded. And we had to get the bubbled headrest replaced too. So, the quality of the material is not the same as the old ones. I told the rep, April, that I wasn't paying for it because that was not what she told me. I had my own electrician come up and set it all up. The tub, even to this day, vibrates loudly. It makes a lot of racket, even when I'm in it. I called Cal Spas up and they had a guy come up.
The guy that does fixes and repairs for them works for another outfit, Performance Spa. He does this for Cal Spas once in a while. He was here when I got home. He was sitting in his truck and said he already looked at the tub. I asked what he found out and he said that the racket was because the tub was sitting on redwood deck instead of concrete. He said that was typical. It sounded normal to him. I wasn't happy the way that went down. I was told I was gonna get a written copy of this, but I haven't received it yet. I'm being patient and I live with it. It’s probably been a month. I’m gonna give them another week or so. If I don’t hear anything, I’m gonna call and request that.

We were using Spa-N-A-Box - a portable hot tub. My wife and I weren't sure we're going to enjoy it but after experiencing the warmth and all that, we definitely wanted an upgrade so we bought a real one. My friend and I installed the Cal Spa tub and hooked everything up. The functions on it are very simple and I had no issues. It does have the light, a stereo, and a waterfall. It has around 20-30 jets and it seats five. I’m very happy with it, especially the price. It’s at a vacation home up by Yosemite here in California. When it is cold outside, it’s nice going into a nice, warm tub. It’s relaxing and refreshing. Every time we go up there, we’re always working on the place, so after a good hard day’s work, it’s nice to go into something that’s cozy. We really enjoy it. I would definitely buy another Cal Spa and I would definitely have a spa all my life.

We had our old Cal Spas Jacuzzi for 14 years and we really liked it. We just got a new one a year ago and we're ready to turn it back in because it doesn't keep clean. We even have a repairman come to try and show us what we might be doing wrong. The pumps or the filters don't keep up with it. There's only one filter that we change every week and it's smaller than the old one we had (the old one had 2 filters). Also, there's no basket for filtration.
We didn't buy the jacuzzi through Cal Spas but we bought it through a broker of swimming pool place. So we contacted them, they came out and explained to us that we were going to have to do a whole lot more work to keep it clean because it's not quite after what the old one was. We didn't listen when we bought the new one but the guy who goes out and looks at it said he gets this all the time. People who had the old ones think that the new ones are going to work as good as the old ones did but it doesn't. This has been a disappointing experience.

Everything was spot on. The installers pretty much just delivered the Cal Spas and that was it. The tub improved the outdoor living space and it definitely brings up my quality of life. Jumping in it before bed relaxes me, makes my muscles feel better and gets me ready for sleep. I also love the modern look and the quality of the way it operates seems to be topnotch.
Initially, there was a small issue when I got it. The molding itself for the tube was cracked and it started to leak after three weeks of owning it. The vendor called Cal Spas and they swapped it out. Within a month, it had to be made so we couldn’t use it for that month, which was kind of a downfall. After that, they brought another one and there was one other issue with the small water filtration upgrade on it. The housing began to leak as well. They sent me a new housing in the mail and I replaced it myself. Everything’s been fine since.
We got the floor model and it's the very first model of that product. So when we had the shell crack and they sent us a new one, the production model is a little bit different than the floor model, which I was a little dissatisfied with. But other than that, it's a great experience and if I have the opportunity and needed to buy a Cal Spas again, I would. I've always known about Cal Spas. I've seen them in every people’s houses and I've lived in rentals that had them.

It was a tough job but they got it done. After the spa was installed and filled up, there was a leak that was coming from the underside of it. I contacted Cal Spas and they came out the next day and identified and isolated the leak. It was a broken part, so they ordered the part. They were back within two weeks with the new part and installed it. Everything’s been good since. I've been using the spa regularly to swim and exercise.

I've been looking at the Cal Flame grill in a gas company in Greenville who's sell outdoor grills and outdoor deck furnishings. I got the grill at Christmas last December and it never worked. There was always something broken on it. The lights, rotisserie, the searing element also wouldn't work. We never could get it to work as it was supposed to.
The store was good enough. We went six months with the grill not working as it should, and sometimes we couldn't use it at all. Then it took them about six months to replace the whole grill with another brand because Cal Flame would not replace it. They put the other grill brand in and we had to put a piece of stainless behind it to make it fit the hole. So they took the Cal Flame and I don’t have that anymore. It was flawed and did not work right. I'm really not very happy and I would not recommend Cal Flame to anyone. However, I like their pizza oven but I would recommend that they put insulation in its door because the door gets so hot and if I were to touch it, it would burn my hand.

I'm very happy with everything and the experience is 100%. Good quality and good merchandising. I got my money's worth out of my new tub. We've got Softub before and that's a joke compared to Cal Spas' because theirs are of good quality and they're a lot better than the others. I'm getting more for my money. What I got is fiberglass, sits six people, has its lights changing colors, and has an automatic filter system so I don't have to worry about keeping my water clean. It also has more features than the other ones which look plain and cost around $5,000. My Softub lasted not even a year. It's lighter and not deep enough. I have to crouch to get in. But with my new tub, I just got a couple of steps and I get in there.
My tub helps me with my feet and legs. I could be crawling out of the bed and then when I get in the spa, after 15 minutes I can actually walk back to go to bed. I tell people how amazing what hot water could do with the jets circulating. I don't need to go to the emergency room for my extreme pains because I can now do it myself. Ever since I got the tub it has also helped me health-wise. I'm extremely happy that I have it now. I'm in it all the time and I love it.
The installation was great. All what the Secard people had to do was set everything up and it was done professionally. Everybody at Cal Spas is top-of-the-line. They're all courteous and respectful. They told me to feel free to call if I have any questions. Two days after Secard installed it, a representative came to go over all the features and showed me how to work everything, how to heat it, all the buttons, and how to do the chemicals. I don't do the chemicals because I have a pool man, but the guy still showed me how to do it.

It was the end of August when we purchased our first hot tub. We live in a rural area and the next largest city next to us had a Cal Spas dealer with a showroom. So we went in and they were easy to deal with. Unfortunately, it's been a terrible experience and I've been so disappointed with them for it had nothing but problems like terrible leaks. It's been broken down probably a third of the time since we've had it.
I've had a problem getting the dealer to come out, wait for parts to come in, get on people’s schedules and keep up with the issues that we've had once it was installed. We've been very frustrated with the product. We put in two electrical boards, which was the problem but they're not always kept in stock. The very first day they came out, they couldn’t get it running. So they had to install a brand new one at my house that day. And then another one had to be installed again three months ago.
We considered that once we got it up and running, we'll sell it because it's just been a thorn in our side, but we have such a beautiful place that we have it and we really enjoy it. We love it and don’t want to get rid of it. I don’t know if I got a lemon, but I know that my contact person is really the source of the majority of my problems. We have a pool guy that comes and keeps up with the chemicals once a week. We made a special trip to see him and try to resolve it, but he's really not a very upstanding person. We've had a hard time getting anywhere with him. And if we get too mad at him, then he really doesn’t take care of getting our stuff fixed. He told me to file the complaints with Cal Spas operation about him but I haven't. I don’t like having to be that way but it's just been really rough. I'm not super excited about Cal Spas at the moment. It's not the experience we were hoping for.

The swim spa that I tried in their warehouse was good so I went ahead and bought it, but I'm disappointed because what I purchased is different from what they showed me. What I purchased turned out to be a 12-footer while the one I tried out was 16. It's very difficult to swim in it. I do cross-training so my idea was to swim, but it's just sitting there. I never noticed the difference in length because it took another few months before I started to use it. The installation though was perfect. Their personnel's performance was excellent, they were very polite, and everything went well. They delivered what I signed for on time and they were very good. The unit itself was good. When I availed their service they also responded very well. They came and they fixed the two issues that I had. I haven't had any other issues with them, except that it's too short. I would recommend it to a friend on the basis of their service.
But, it was a bad investment - a big, expensive mistake. I'm not an expert on the subject and it's my inexperience that did this so I don't blame them entirely, but the guy who sold it to me should have warned me that I'm getting 5 feet less so I would have made a different decision. I believe it was just sold to me, they took the money, and they delivered what I signed. I have no basis for complaints because I signed the paper. They have a protocol to follow and they have the paper that got rid of me.

We've had Cal Spas in the past. We had one 10 years ago and then we got one through Costco, which was some off-brand I never heard of. It sprung a leak and so we got another Cal Spas to replace it. Between the two brands, the Cal Spas seems to be performing better. When I had problems with it, the young lady in customer service was very helpful in resolving them. There was one where there was some screws that were rusting. She got me replacements screws which seemed to go in okay. Then we had a problem with the filter cover that cracked. She arranged to have the whole thing replaced.
Cal Spas wasn't helpful though with the last problem only because I got email chained from one of the engineers which was kind of insulting. It was rather condescending instead of helpful, like "Hey, don't ask me that question. It's beneath me." It wasn't the customer service person's fault because she was just relaying information. We were thinking there was a seal problem, like one of the seals was degrading. There was kind of a rubbery substance on the spa and we didn't know what it was. Apparently, it's what they call "gunk" and we had to do some special treatments to clean up the spa. The spa had only been used like three times.
So I went to Leslie's Pool Supply and they helped me resolve the problem. I've got pH balanced or alkaline balanced and the right amount of chlorine or bromine in it. Then apparently, this buildup can happen. I basically got a fast course on how to balance the water. That was the problem where the gunk was coming from. Every week I would go to Leslie's and they'd check the water and then helped me balance it. They were very helpful with regards to it.
The salesperson at Cal Spas said this is a super easy spa to maintain. I just throw a capful of chlorine every time I use it and it’ll be fine 'cause there's an oxygenator in it. It's not the case. Every week I've got to do a test on it to make sure that the balance is right, so it's a little more complicated. Now that we’ve got it all balanced out, the spa is a nice thing to have around. In hindsight, I wouldn't have bought one.

We’ve used Cal Spas for about a year, and this year, I purchased a new, five-person, above-the-ground model. Installation was fairly quick, and the installers got here on time. The tub is pretty to get into. They moved it into position, uncrated it and plugged it in. They gave me a brief overview on how it works and it didn't last any more than an hour or two. But I was not a hundred percent satisfied in dealing with their team. It seems like there is only one girl in charge in the office who really knows what she's doing, but she's not there all the time. Her hours are a little hit and miss. And when I did get somebody else other than her, the service was terrible. They said they'd call me back but they didn't. It was just somebody from the warehouse who happened to pick up the phone because it was ringing. The people in the office were less than desirable. There are some people that should be praised down there but overall, they need to get their act together.
However, the technician who came out here was fantastic. He got here at the prescribed time and took care of the problem, which was actually a manufacturing defect. They had left a seal out when they put the thing together, but it's understandable because I think it was a showroom model and everything's cooled there. The spa itself does have a couple of places where it looks like they did some body work on the fiberglass and I'm not a hundred percent happy with that. But it's not causing any trouble other than cosmetic, so I've done both repair and fiberglass repair. And I can see where they definitely had some holes drilled and filled them up.

My expectations are that a company should stand behind their product. So we'll have to buy another salt machine which will work well during that time. Now, we're using chlorine pucks. Another thing is I don't like the screen. Sometimes the buttons stick, and during the night I can't see what are the numbers. There are only three buttons to do every option. So I don't like how it works. It's complicated to go in the cycling of the filtration and there's no light on it. But otherwise, we like the spa.

I went to the Bloomsburg Fair in the late September of 2014 and bought a tub at Cal Spas. I was sold by the light accessories and was also attracted to all the waterfalls and the fountain. I didn’t want any of the electronics like the music or TV. They had the largest amount of jets for the amount of seating I wanted compared to other brands and also the most lights.
My installation experience was good but there was a mix-up when I purchased it. When I bought at the stall, they sold it out from under me so I had to wait a good two months before I could get my hot tub and I was anxious to get it. But when I got it, the installation team installed it the same day and made sure it was all working before they left, so I was happy with that. Then there was a problem with the cycling system since it wouldn’t shut off and then my tub overheated. They did come and checked that out. Unfortunately, the tub wasn’t doing the problem when they came so they said they couldn’t fix it. But it hasn’t done it since. Nevertheless, they replaced the two lights that went out and the headrest as it started deteriorating. I wasn’t too happy with the supplier and the tub itself had some issues but fortunately it's still under warranty.

They even came out and did that in person. We continue to get supplies from them and it's all good.

I purchased a tub for my previous home from a different vendor and I wasn’t happy with the service there so I went to Cal Spas because they service all types. When I moved and it came time to get a new one, I trusted their expertise. The installation went fine. It was November 14 when it was supposed to start snowing in the afternoon, so they were supposed to be out in the morning but they were late. So they ended up finishing it in snow. But it was installed correctly - all’s well that ends well.
I have to talk to Cal Spas again when they had to replace the radio on it. Then the heater and pumps would not run at the same time. The guy opened the box and changed one little switch. Both times they were prompt and fixed it. But if I had to do it over again, I would have gotten the better installation package. I wished the guy had pushed that a little harder. It would have run a little more efficiently. But we've been happy overall.

The only hassle I've had is the jets. The inside broke out of them and I had shards of this plastic showing up from the bottom of my hot tub so I just knocked out the center on the rest of them. They were all breaking down, and I don’t know what the issue was. They said we probably hit it with our foot or something. My wife and I are the only people that use this hot tub and we don't mess around with it. But other than that, the hot tub’s fantastic. Before having Cal Spas, our other hot tubs were a little hotter which ran around 105 to 106. Cal Spas only runs at 104, but we’re getting used to it and it's comfortable. The installers that came in were good. They took the old tub out, slid the new one in and had a couple of minor issues, but got everything resolved.

I had a horrible experience with Cal Spas and I would never, ever buy from them again. The process was really bad. It was my first spa and my wife and I were very happy and excited. We did research between different brands and manufacturers and decided to go with Cal Spas. When I was there, I took a picture of the spa I wanted which they had on display and it looks almost black. As for the marble, they explained to me the color might change a little bit because of the lining, but it was no problem. When they delivered the Spa to my house, I have pictures to prove the original spa that I wanted at the fair and the one they delivered in my house was a different color.
Moreover, I have to build a little slab in the back of my patio because there was a little slope and before I hired this construction guy to come and build it, I talked with my salesman and he talked to his manager about the spa dimensions. I was anxious and explained to him that I have to build to make sure it’s flat surfaces so it would be balanced once you put the spa on. He told me an inch or two as allowance should be good. He knew that I ordered a cover lift which goes underneath the spa.
The shipping company Cal Spas used was horrible because they didn’t unwrap everything and when they put the spa onto the concrete where I built it for, the cover lift didn't fit. The dimension was not big enough and I needed more room to put the cover lift because it is hanging out. So now, I don’t have a cover lift on it and I can’t have the construction guy come back and rebuild me something. The jacuzzi is super heavy, not even the world’s strongest man can move this and they expect me and my wife to move the spa off and put the cover lift and build them myself. Not only that, I had the electrical guy have to come to contract and do my electrical work at a certain spot for the spa to be in. I even cut down my gate to move the spa in and put the gate back together. There was a lot of process that I had to do to buy the spa and I tried to explain that to them, but the bottomline is they didn’t give a damn about me after I bought it.
Every time I call them for customer service, this girl, Elaine, is the only one that helped me there. I tried to talk to her manager and the owner, but she knew I can’t talk to them. I think they only have one or two people working there because every time I call, my wait time is at least 30 or 45 minutes. Also, when I had an issue with the side panel falling off on the wood, they told me the spa is under cover through the warranty but the technician was on vacation and they didn’t have another technician to go to my house. I had to wait three or four months for a technician to come which is ridiculous. I was told that if they call another outside party, they'd have to pay for it which they wouldn't do.
Another thing is that I tried to refund the cover lift. Elaine told me on the phone that she was going to give the retailer’s 400 bucks on the cover lift, but then says that she can’t give retail because we lost the package deal at the fair and can only give 150 bucks. I told her that it was not a big deal. Moving on, they said they had wired it to my bank but my card is cancelled so, they'll write me a check instead. I had been calling to get my money back and didn't get it until a couple of months later and for some reason, it was only $114 instead of $150. It was a nightmare and I was so upset. I’d rather pay more to a different company to deal with and get over it. It was the worst buying experience in my life. I'm a manager, I deal with a lot of clients. I know how to treat people and I would never treat my customers the way Cal Spas treated me. I tried to go to Better Business Bureau and voice my opinion but Cal Spas never reached out, called back or care.

Also, five of the jets that twirl have disintegrated within six months even though we have a cover on it and it’s not in the sun. Then, they had to bring the unit back. All in all, it took about nine months before we were able to use our item.
I filed numerous complaints, called and talked to managers, directors, sent emails, Yelp review, everything, and they basically kind of told me to go fly a kite. I'll never use Cal Spas again. I've been married 40 years and every 15 years, we get a new spa because we're spa people. We bought Cal Spas in June. It has what most closely fit our needs. It has more complexity to it as they offer more things but we didn't have any initial issues. With our old hot tub, it was pretty straightforward. But after nine years, it had wear and tear on the parts.
However, we've had more reliability with the other ones and just fewer difficulties. One of the reasons we liked with Cal Spas is it actually had more features than what we wanted. But we just basically want it to stay at a constant temperature and have jets that worked really well. We don't care about music or lights or all those kinds of things. The on-off button for the jets only worked intermittently. It had something to do with the connection on the surface with the button not connecting properly so Valley Pool's technicians replaced that.
And then, we had some issues in the summer which became more noticeable in the fall. We wanted to keep a constant temperature - somewhere between 102 and 103 - but it would overheat and turn itself off. If I wasn't going in every day, it would either be completely turned off or it would be down to 60 and became a bit of a problem for us going into the winter because I never knew when it was going to do that and we didn't want anything to freeze up or create other problems for ourselves. They ordered a new motherboard and put it in early January. Since then, we haven't had any issues at all but I feel we got a lemon. The tub structurally is great with the right size but everything that has gone wrong has been of a computerized nature.
We've gotten great service from Valley Pool. I didn't have to pay them anything for it's still under warranty and the technicians have been prompt and honest. They've come out and dealt with the issue. We were just a little frustrated because we'd gotten something new that had issues with it and when you have issues in the first year, it worries a little bit if you'll have continuous issues. Now, we're hoping that they've been sorted. We actually like the product when it's working.

We need to do that.” We got a new one from Cal Spas because of their location.
Installation was a piece of cake. But then, it was a little more complicated because I did not realize that we needed to upgrade some of the wirings because we had an old model. We had to send an extra $1000 to upgrade the wiring. But then it turned out that the wiring guy would only do so much and he recommended a handyman. It took three professionals to get the spa installed. But it’s wonderful to get in the spa.

Dave is the Cal Spas Service Manager that I worked with and he was Awesome. He truly cared and spent the time talking with me to show it. Dave also proactively called me to ensure good results. I really appreciate that and will always do business with a person like that. I am also satisfied with the refund applied to my account for the board that I replaced. As a suggestion to everyone installing or replacing equipment like this: It is very quick work so get it all on video. That level of documentation would make this a lot easier. I am sure it would be annoying to the person doing the installation, but it is your brand new hot tub that you need to take care of.
Cal Spas: Please review the circuit board as these types of issues (main terminal) do not happen this often on any other pieces of equipment (from cars, computers, to houses). It might be a simple terminal block material change or spacing to ensure this never happens again. The GFCI should trip. Overall I am satisfied with the reaction and results provided by Cal Spas. Again, Dave was AWESOME. I am a very critical person, so that I and we may learn. My 3 stars definitely goes to 5 stars.

When we were still looking for a tub to purchase, everybody was saying not to buy a Cal Spas unless we go directly to them. We were told we’re going to have a lot of difficulties with warranty if we buy with the distributors, and that’s exactly what happened two weekends ago. We had an issue and the distributor gave me some crap about how it’s because the torque on the terminal block wasn’t right. It was incorrect because I’m an electrical engineer and I had a master electrician that they recommended install it while I hovered over his shoulder. I provided the torque wrench to make sure it was right because he didn’t bring one. They said they recommend me to re-torque it every six months. That’s baloney because that’s not in the manual. The manual gives the steps to wire the hot tub and if we deviate from this at all, it voids the warranty so I did not add or remove any steps.
They then said it was a loose wire and I said it's not because it’s the ground. If the ground gets loose and it arches, it trips a GSCI and I have two of them inline. They said they'll send it in for warranty to Cal Spas and hopefully it works. I think there’s some issue with the terminal block. I found it Saturday morning when I went to go hop in the hot tub and the water was out like 75 and the panel was off, so the breakers were tripped. I had this hot tub underneath it with a little low extra heater at 100 degrees which I did. I kept it between 98 and 106, so the entire weekend until Monday, I left multiple and multiple voicemails with different people in the service center.
We had to call because they do not call us back yet. They came and replaced the board but it wouldn’t be under warranty because the warranty doesn’t cover loose wires, which is not stated in the warranty book. Then the service tech once again did not use a torque wrench to torque down the terminal block to 27 to 30, which I called the service manager right away and he said "Well, that’s on us if that close down."
They’re trying to not reimburse me. I had to pay upfront the 640 bucks. Not only that, but when it went down, the UV filter inside broke. I told them to disconnect it because I’m not going to pay for another $480 for it to get replaced. They were telling me I’m on the hook for all of it and that I was going to pay 1000 bucks so I watched the service tech while he did all the work. I won’t know for another three weeks if Cal Spas is going to reimburse me for the circuitry, which I’m obviously going to raise, if they don't.
But in general, I have been incredibly impressed with the hot tub and with the service that I got at Woodsbury store. Everyone was nice. The service manager I talked and explained all this to truly and sincerely cared. He said he would write a note to go with my bad product at Cal Spas. This is not a loose wire issue. This must be a manufacturing default issue. And I would assume that the service manager has the ability to change them out. The difference between Cal Spas and their competitors is that their competitors are small enough that they can directly take care of the issue immediately.
We are sorry to hear that there may have been an error with the electrical installation from a third party causing a problem with the circuit board. The torque values of the electrical connections are on the inside door of the control box for future reference. In any event we do not want you to be unhappy and we do appreciate your business. As a gesture of good will Cal Spas will provide, at no charge to you, the circuit board you needed for this repair. I understand that the store where you purchased this spa will refund the money you spent on this part right away. We wish you many years enjoying your new hot tub.
