I’ve had Cal Spas before and I also saw them at the Kern County fairgrounds. I purchased another one that's gray and is for six people but sits five. There was a little problem with the installation process having to do with the timing. I was told a certain delivery date but the delivery didn't happen. I had paid it upfront so I was concerned about when it would be delivered so when the initial delivery time came and went and the product still wasn't delivered I called to see what was going on. I was given another date and that came and went too. No one called me to find out what was going on. I went in person to their office and it wasn't a pleasant experience.
I saw a sign that they weren’t there at the office. What happened was their staff was at the fair during that time. Their guy got a little irate and got upset like I was bothering him. I told him that I was trying to find out why the spa was not here yet and that maybe he could do a follow-up as it was paid for. It made me a little nervous. The communication was not good, but we finally settled it and I got my spa. Their staff realized he was a little bit out of line and he called and apologized too.
The spa is gray and it works fine. But I’m having a little problem with the electrical pad. When I push the button, I have to keep resetting it in the electrical box because sometimes it doesn’t pick up. When I try to hit the jets to make them turn on the way they should, sometimes they won’t turn on at all. Other than that, it’s been a very nice product. One of the reasons I got it is because of my foot injury, to help me improve it. Hopefully, with the massaging and the water movement, it would help it, and it has, which is a good thing. It's also for the relaxation part and to get rid of the tension. The spa is one of my favorite purchases and I’m glad about it.
It’s a good product for anyone to have. I prefer it over a swimming pool. I’ve had both and I wouldn't ever want another pool but I’d never want to be without my spa if I had a choice. It really has helped my well-being and my health. I get in it at least maybe once or twice a week. It’s really relaxing and therapeutic. But I don’t use it the way most people use it. I could be in there an hour or an hour and a half because I don’t have it hot. I keep it lukewarm and I find that way, I could be there longer and use it to cool down when it’s hot outside. It serves its purpose even if it’s not hot. If I had it hot like at 100 and something with the heat, I’d be out in 10 minutes. It would be too hot. On the whole, it's been a soothing experience.

I had a Cal Spas before but their service was not good so I wasn't too pleased with them. On the other hand, my new one is doing well, except for the black cushions that you rest your head on -- they deteriorate. I called to the place where I bought it at Secard and I haven't heard anything back from them. It's been a year now. They never got back to me.

My daughter who lives in Hesperia was looking for a swimming pool so we went over to the Cal Spas there. Since I was going to move, I decided I wanted a hot tub. I went in and I saw the round one. The first one I saw was blue but I waited too long and they sold that one. Now the one I got, a four-person tub, I bought it just right at the same time that I got my house. Everything worked out great. They had great installers. They rolled it off, set it in where I was at, explained everything to me, plugged it in, I put water in it, and I was in it two hours later. They were professional and they were really good about it.

I got the Cal Spas F-1222 mostly for my daughter who is autistic. We didn't wanna get a pool but needed something big enough for her to play around in. She loves being in the water and that is a huge thing for her every day. Most of my interactions with the Cal Spas team were through the pool place that I purchased it through, and they've been helpful with anything that's come up. The installers were very courteous and got it done quickly and efficiently.

Cal Spas is a good spa. The outdoor space is much improved because of it. But it was improved by other aspects, too, because it was put in in conjunction with putting in a fire pit and a barbeque. However, I don’t think the maintenance in the handbook was explained very well. But the spa has been great and I like it. The people who I bought it from were very helpful especially in trying to figure out a way of getting it in into my yard which was very difficult. They worked with me and when I couldn’t put it in right away, they held back for a long time until I was able to get it in. It’s been a pretty good experience.

It's been 10 years that we've used Cal Spas because they have good value and service. We got a 7x7 hot tub with four seats and two benches. Cal Spas team called us to see if everything went okay, and when we had a problem, they fixed it. They're nice. The delivery people did a good job setting up our tub and leveling it. We use our hot tub all the time. It's everything I thought it would be, and it's good.

The installation of the hot tub was done very efficiently. However, we had some problems with the cracking of the panels, but Cal Spas installed that later on although it took us a really long time to get the panels back. We use the hot tub all the time and we've been very satisfied with it. Plus, their team have all been very nice. It's been a very positive experience and we love our spa.

The people of Cal Spas at the store were great, but the guy who came out to our house was god-awful. He was rude, mean, and he stressed me out. He made my heart beat really fast and I wanted him to leave. My sister, unfortunately, lives close and got the same guy, and we both said never again. I told the people at the store but they said they've never heard of that before, which I find very difficult to believe. Otherwise, the experience has been fine. I've been using the product for about a year and I’m taking care of it by myself.

The only problem I have with my Cal Spas is that I can't find another filter for it. The guy said that it can be cleaned and be reused over and over. I just put it in a filter cleaning solution, which if they'd had told me that when I bought the tub, I would have bought two filters because this filter is a pain in the butt. I’ve taken so many pictures of it and measurements, emailed them to people, and I still do not have another filter for the tub. I would have shut it down and not even run it for at least 24 hours so I can clean the filter, which isn't good especially in Colorado because it gets pretty cold up here. I tried to reach out to the distributor and when I managed to get them to answer me finally, and the place they told me to contact to get the filter was a big mess up. I'm still working with just one filter and I already gave up on those guys.

I have had several hot tubs before but when I got Cal Spas 13 months ago, it’s like driving from a Fort Pinto going into a Cadillac. I really enjoy it but it's like a girlfriend, I got to take care of it and watch it. I installed myself and I hired an electrician to inspect the input. It’s a big tub and I had to lift it up on to a nine-foot deck so I had to use my pump to do it. Furthermore, I'm most impressed with their service. I called up and said I’m having an issue with the tub. The guys there, the next morning, not only fixed it but updated all the stuff that’s been recalled without even being asked.

I was looking online for a Jacuzzi and I found out about Cal Spas. I like the design. A lot of the other spas were a little cheap and this one looks like it has high quality. It was also the decor of my house that's why I chose them. The model I have seats three people. It's very hot in California right now, so I sit in there, not turning it off so it's almost like I'm swimming in a pool. When I turned on the lights for the spa, it's like a disco ball because it has rainbow colors. I don't know if it's the model I got but they should have something different than that. It looked like I was having a rave in my backyard when I turned it on. I'm a little too old to be raving anymore so I don't want my neighbors to think I'm having some kind of EDP in my backyard.

I like the style of the Cal Spas hot tub and their warranty was good. For installation, I had to get a crane to get the tub up and over my house to get it in the backyard. Everybody was out there watching probably hoping it fell over the roof to give them something to see. That was a little bit of an experience, but all went smooth.
In the beginning, it was not too good with their team. I had an issue with the tub. I don’t know if that’s a newer tub that no one seemed to be able to explain the issue to me. Their sales guy didn’t know a whole lot about it. I also had an issue with their regular spa. They know a lot about the Jacuzzis but not the swim spa. However, the tub has improved my way of living. The foot jets are good. I like the swim feature. I cool the tub down, so it’s like a pool. I swim a lot in it. It’s been a nice tub. Overall, I like it and I’m very impressed with it. Now that they got the leaks fixed, things have been working. Their reputation is not the best, but fairly good.

We've had Cal Spas for a year now. We chose it for its great price. The installation wasn't a fun experience. I think the two workers were having a fight with each other so they did a crappy job in putting up the gazebo around it. The finished product then looked like something that came from a used place, so I had to call them back. Cal Spas sent someone else instead to fix it and do some touch-ups, and I'm happy with the spa now. We saved on water with it since we don't have to keep refilling it up like we did with our in-ground one.

Cal Spas was a completely different type of spa. It's definitely better than the others. We got the Softub from them. I wouldn’t say their team was friendly but they know what they're doing. We thought we needed to purchase new filters but they advised that the amount of time we had with our filter is good. We have the tub in the entire outdoor patio. We spend more time there and less on vacations because we have the spa now. Our electricity bill did go up quite high compared to what we had before but the hot tub is better for the family having it. There's more time spent together because everybody wants to be in it.

I was at the mall and Valley Spa was having swim spas and found out about Cal Spas which they have on sale. I chose them over other manufacturers because of the price and availability. They told me what I needed to do to get the slab put on and gave me the number for the electrician that they use and somebody who would build the deck around it because it was going above ground and they helped me with getting everything going. They had no problems. Our spa was brought in before they assembled it, was put on pillows and was put perfectly on the slab. Since then, I got the lid off of it so I don't have to do it myself and got the chemicals down. It's there when I want to use it.
I love my sun spa and I'm very satisfied except for the outer covering on the spa. It tended to warp because it's in a sunny area and I'm in the desert but Valley Spa had somebody come in. They go "We can take it off and put a new one on there" but that would ruin my deck. They just put some extra wood screws in there to keep it down. My deck too just started to fade so that's how hot it gets, but it's great. Everything works well and it's very relaxing and I enjoy it a lot when I go out there. I also had such a great experience with Valley Spa promoting Cal Spas that they took care of any questions I might have had and they’ve been very helpful for anything I've come up with on how to take care of the lid and how to take care of the spa. I couldn’t be more satisfied.

Now the product is good. I have owned 3. But the owner of the Bakersfield store is awful. He never keeps his promise of a service. I ordered a brand new side panel on a brand new hot tub that received a scratch in from the delivery people. He promised me at least 4 or 5 times that he had it and would install. He kept giving me the runaround and dates he would have someone come out. His repairman is a joke never returned my calls.. He would tell me he can't hire good people once he told me his daughter would install it. He never answers the phone and does not give you written orders unless you actually buy something.
I complained to main office and nothing came of that either. This will be my last spa with this company. Yes I am sure on paper he is selling the product, but what about the service. New car companies would be out of business with lousy repair shops. Others are unhappy with the lousy service. He is very unprofessional once he sells you the spa.

I purchased a Cal Spas hot tub through Home Depot mainly for the size of the tub and the price. Delivery and set up were no problem and I had a licensed electrician do the wiring. We filled the tub and everything seemed to work fine, but the next day we noticed that the water level had dropped. I found a leak in the main suction line to the pump. I contacted Cal Spas and they sent a local tub supplier to fix the problem, but they were not able to get a proper seal and parts had to be ordered.
We returned home to Canada before the repair was completed so I don't know if it is fixed properly or not. The issue I have is the bill for a service call for $250.00. You should not have to pay to have a brand new product repaired, especially if the issue is the fault of the manufacturer. This was poor workmanship and zero testing or quality control at the factory. I contacted Cal Spas by email but have yet to receive a response. Based on the way I was treated, I would never buy another Cal Spas product and would advise other potential buyers to look elsewhere for a better product and better service.

We bought 2 jets already for $35. Now we have 3 more that need to be replaced. We really did my homework before purchasing this hot tub. I even drove a hour and a half away to wet test a Cal Spa because that was the closet Cal Spa dealer to us. We have several other spa dealer closer to us like Hotsprings, Caldera, Bull frog, Jacuzzi and Sundance to name a few. There were a lot more and wet tested them all. We finally decided on a Cal Spa.
Once we get it, a month later it gets a leak! Also one of the lights was not working on the corner. It takes K & B pools approx a month to come out here due to weather and they wanted to make sure they had all the parts since they were so far away. Once they came out come to find out the light wasn't even hooked up and it was leaking because the fittings or something was loose.
NOW we have already replaced 2 of the 5" power storm wagon wheels and 3 more are breaking. This is going to be very costly if we have to purchase 2 or 3 every other month. That is ridiculous. I would expect that from a cheap tub but not a $8k tub. We can't afford to keep replacing jets. Their response was they would send us the jets but we have to pay for the freight which cost more than the jets. I am just not satisfied with this response after I have spent $8K and having issues already!!

My Cal Spas tub is a smaller and less expensive one compared to the other spa that I had, which is a Marquis. Cal Spas installed my tub and it was easy. When I filled it up though, it was not exactly level. That's still an issue and it's not that bad, but it is a few inches. I can see that the water is higher on one side and lower on the other. Also, it doesn't have the clarity of my other spa, but overall, I'm pleased with it. I like to turn it on at night when nobody's out there. Their manual to adjust temperature and time is pretty weak. It’s black and white, you can’t tell the pictures. I have to literally got to have it out here with me to try to work through it. It could be better. The company that I purchased it from has given us zero services. They did not set it up and we were shown nothing. So my husband installed the spa. When we had two leaks in it, we had another spa supplier come down and fix it twice. I know it’s not Cal Spas’ fault, but I'm dissatisfied with the dealer.

The spa pictured on the website does not give the consumer adequate information to make a solid decision. The manufacturer kept us waiting for weeks to deliver our spa and upon its arrival it was obvious that this was not going to work for us. The bench seating is very uncomfortable. The seats are low to the ground which makes getting up very difficult and the well is small (if 7 adults were to sit in the spa we would have to have our legs on top of each other). Although I contacted the manufacturer immediately they refused to take the spa back or consider giving us credit towards a tub that would be more comfortable for us.
Now I am stuck with a tub that will cause me discomfort instead of the "complete comfort and therapeutic relief" the website promises. I would not do business with this company in the future as they are very rude and do not have any regard for customer satisfaction. We've always owned Cal Spas. We've had two used ones and last year, we decided to buy a brand new one. My husband loves spas and he gets in them every day. When we first purchased the spa, the plastic that they tear off from the outside of the spa was melted onto the actual wall of it. We've also replaced the motor through warranty because Cal Spas already replaced the motor in it but it just never worked. My husband called their rep but he never returned his calls. So my husband had to go in town every time to get business taken care of. It was hard to get a hold of their customer service rep and everything he promised never happened until I spoke to somebody at corporate and she helped me get through to a repair person that does warranty work here in town.
Our other used Cal Spas have been wonderful but with this new one, it seems the actual plastics that cover the knobs where the filter is have enormously faded. And we had to get the bubbled headrest replaced too. So, the quality of the material is not the same as the old ones. When it first came out of the factory and they hooked it up, it blew. Evidently, there was something in the UV light that was not put together right in the factory and it would blow the circuit. But we were able to use the spa in the meantime, and then they brought a new one out two weeks later.
Dealing with the people and the installers was good, but the actual spa is not. It's too deep for us and not comfortable. My older one is not near as deep. The guy that was trying to fix our previous hot tub was a Cal Spas dealer here in the Phoenix area and he recommended the tub to us. We have Cal Spas for two years now and it has been excellent. The installation was very quick and they did everything that we asked them to. They placed it in the right place, made sure that the electrical was all working before they left, then they came back later and added the tub cover. Then when we wanted a lift on the cover, instead of having to put it down on the ground, they came again and did that.
We've owned hot tubs for close to 25 years. We're Canadians so, we don't know a lot about reputable dealers. Being able to rely on somebody, getting that kind of customer service, and knowing nothing has gone wrong, that everything's been fine, it has been a peace of mind more than anything else. I had another hot tub, which I bought nine years ago and it wore out. I went to one of Cal Spas' shops. It's been six months since I bought their hot tub. When I bought it, they told me that they would come deliver it, and put it in place. I paid for it. The next thing I knew, they told me that they’ll take the old one, bring this new one up and they wanted me to pay for it. I told the rep, April, that I wasn't paying for it because that was not what she told me. I had my own electrician come up and set it all up. The tub, even to this day, vibrates loudly. It makes a lot of racket, even when I'm in it. I called Cal Spas up and they had a guy come up.
The guy that does fixes and repairs for them works for another outfit, Performance Spa. He does this for Cal Spas once in a while. He was here when I got home. He was sitting in his truck and said he already looked at the tub. I asked what he found out and he said that the racket was because the tub was sitting on redwood deck instead of concrete. He said that was typical. It sounded normal to him. I wasn't happy the way that went down. I was told I was gonna get a written copy of this, but I haven't received it yet. I'm being patient and I live with it. It’s probably been a month. I’m gonna give them another week or so. If I don’t hear anything, I’m gonna call and request that.

We were using Spa-N-A-Box - a portable hot tub. My wife and I weren't sure we're going to enjoy it but after experiencing the warmth and all that, we definitely wanted an upgrade so we bought a real one. My friend and I installed the Cal Spa tub and hooked everything up. The functions on it are very simple and I had no issues. It does have the light, a stereo, and a waterfall. It has around 20-30 jets and it seats five. I’m very happy with it, especially the price. It’s at a vacation home up by Yosemite here in California. When it is cold outside, it’s nice going into a nice, warm tub. It’s relaxing and refreshing. Every time we go up there, we’re always working on the place, so after a good hard day’s work, it’s nice to go into something that’s cozy. We really enjoy it. I would definitely buy another Cal Spa and I would definitely have a spa all my life.

We had our old Cal Spas Jacuzzi for 14 years and we really liked it. We just got a new one a year ago and we're ready to turn it back in because it doesn't keep clean. We even have a repairman come to try and show us what we might be doing wrong. The pumps or the filters don't keep up with it. There's only one filter that we change every week and it's smaller than the old one we had (the old one had 2 filters). Also, there's no basket for filtration.
We didn't buy the jacuzzi through Cal Spas but we bought it through a broker of swimming pool place. So we contacted them, they came out and explained to us that we were going to have to do a whole lot more work to keep it clean because it's not quite after what the old one was. We didn't listen when we bought the new one but the guy who goes out and looks at it said he gets this all the time. People who had the old ones think that the new ones are going to work as good as the old ones did but it doesn't. This has been a disappointing experience.

Everything was spot on. The installers pretty much just delivered the Cal Spas and that was it. The tub improved the outdoor living space and it definitely brings up my quality of life. Jumping in it before bed relaxes me, makes my muscles feel better and gets me ready for sleep. I also love the modern look and the quality of the way it operates seems to be topnotch.
Initially, there was a small issue when I got it. The molding itself for the tube was cracked and it started to leak after three weeks of owning it. The vendor called Cal Spas and they swapped it out. Within a month, it had to be made so we couldn’t use it for that month, which was kind of a downfall. After that, they brought another one and there was one other issue with the small water filtration upgrade on it. The housing began to leak as well. They sent me a new housing in the mail and I replaced it myself. Everything’s been fine since.
We got the floor model and it's the very first model of that product. So when we had the shell crack and they sent us a new one, the production model is a little bit different than the floor model, which I was a little dissatisfied with. But other than that, it's a great experience and if I have the opportunity and needed to buy a Cal Spas again, I would. I've always known about Cal Spas. I've seen them in every people’s houses and I've lived in rentals that had them.

It was a tough job but they got it done. After the spa was installed and filled up, there was a leak that was coming from the underside of it. I contacted Cal Spas and they came out the next day and identified and isolated the leak. It was a broken part, so they ordered the part. They were back within two weeks with the new part and installed it. Everything’s been good since. I've been using the spa regularly to swim and exercise.

I've been looking at the Cal Flame grill in a gas company in Greenville who's sell outdoor grills and outdoor deck furnishings. I got the grill at Christmas last December and it never worked. There was always something broken on it. The lights, rotisserie, the searing element also wouldn't work. We never could get it to work as it was supposed to.
The store was good enough. We went six months with the grill not working as it should, and sometimes we couldn't use it at all. Then it took them about six months to replace the whole grill with another brand because Cal Flame would not replace it. They put the other grill brand in and we had to put a piece of stainless behind it to make it fit the hole. So they took the Cal Flame and I don’t have that anymore. It was flawed and did not work right. I'm really not very happy and I would not recommend Cal Flame to anyone. However, I like their pizza oven but I would recommend that they put insulation in its door because the door gets so hot and if I were to touch it, it would burn my hand.

I'm very happy with everything and the experience is 100%. Good quality and good merchandising. I got my money's worth out of my new tub. We've got Softub before and that's a joke compared to Cal Spas' because theirs are of good quality and they're a lot better than the others. I'm getting more for my money. What I got is fiberglass, sits six people, has its lights changing colors, and has an automatic filter system so I don't have to worry about keeping my water clean. It also has more features than the other ones which look plain and cost around $5,000. My Softub lasted not even a year. It's lighter and not deep enough. I have to crouch to get in. But with my new tub, I just got a couple of steps and I get in there.
My tub helps me with my feet and legs. I could be crawling out of the bed and then when I get in the spa, after 15 minutes I can actually walk back to go to bed. I tell people how amazing what hot water could do with the jets circulating. I don't need to go to the emergency room for my extreme pains because I can now do it myself. Ever since I got the tub it has also helped me health-wise. I'm extremely happy that I have it now. I'm in it all the time and I love it.
The installation was great. All what the Secard people had to do was set everything up and it was done professionally. Everybody at Cal Spas is top-of-the-line. They're all courteous and respectful. They told me to feel free to call if I have any questions. Two days after Secard installed it, a representative came to go over all the features and showed me how to work everything, how to heat it, all the buttons, and how to do the chemicals. I don't do the chemicals because I have a pool man, but the guy still showed me how to do it.

It was the end of August when we purchased our first hot tub. We live in a rural area and the next largest city next to us had a Cal Spas dealer with a showroom. So we went in and they were easy to deal with. Unfortunately, it's been a terrible experience and I've been so disappointed with them for it had nothing but problems like terrible leaks. It's been broken down probably a third of the time since we've had it.
I've had a problem getting the dealer to come out, wait for parts to come in, get on people’s schedules and keep up with the issues that we've had once it was installed. We've been very frustrated with the product. We put in two electrical boards, which was the problem but they're not always kept in stock. The very first day they came out, they couldn’t get it running. So they had to install a brand new one at my house that day. And then another one had to be installed again three months ago.
We considered that once we got it up and running, we'll sell it because it's just been a thorn in our side, but we have such a beautiful place that we have it and we really enjoy it. We love it and don’t want to get rid of it. I don’t know if I got a lemon, but I know that my contact person is really the source of the majority of my problems. We have a pool guy that comes and keeps up with the chemicals once a week. We made a special trip to see him and try to resolve it, but he's really not a very upstanding person. We've had a hard time getting anywhere with him. And if we get too mad at him, then he really doesn’t take care of getting our stuff fixed. He told me to file the complaints with Cal Spas operation about him but I haven't. I don’t like having to be that way but it's just been really rough. I'm not super excited about Cal Spas at the moment. It's not the experience we were hoping for.

The swim spa that I tried in their warehouse was good so I went ahead and bought it, but I'm disappointed because what I purchased is different from what they showed me. What I purchased turned out to be a 12-footer while the one I tried out was 16. It's very difficult to swim in it. I do cross-training so my idea was to swim, but it's just sitting there. I never noticed the difference in length because it took another few months before I started to use it. The installation though was perfect. Their personnel's performance was excellent, they were very polite, and everything went well. They delivered what I signed for on time and they were very good. The unit itself was good. When I availed their service they also responded very well. They came and they fixed the two issues that I had. I haven't had any other issues with them, except that it's too short. I would recommend it to a friend on the basis of their service.
But, it was a bad investment - a big, expensive mistake. I'm not an expert on the subject and it's my inexperience that did this so I don't blame them entirely, but the guy who sold it to me should have warned me that I'm getting 5 feet less so I would have made a different decision. I believe it was just sold to me, they took the money, and they delivered what I signed. I have no basis for complaints because I signed the paper. They have a protocol to follow and they have the paper that got rid of me.

We've had Cal Spas in the past. We had one 10 years ago and then we got one through Costco, which was some off-brand I never heard of. It sprung a leak and so we got another Cal Spas to replace it. Between the two brands, the Cal Spas seems to be performing better. When I had problems with it, the young lady in customer service was very helpful in resolving them. There was one where there was some screws that were rusting. She got me replacements screws which seemed to go in okay. Then we had a problem with the filter cover that cracked. She arranged to have the whole thing replaced.
Cal Spas wasn't helpful though with the last problem only because I got email chained from one of the engineers which was kind of insulting. It was rather condescending instead of helpful, like "Hey, don't ask me that question. It's beneath me." It wasn't the customer service person's fault because she was just relaying information. We were thinking there was a seal problem, like one of the seals was degrading. There was kind of a rubbery substance on the spa and we didn't know what it was. Apparently, it's what they call "gunk" and we had to do some special treatments to clean up the spa. The spa had only been used like three times.
So I went to Leslie's Pool Supply and they helped me resolve the problem. I've got pH balanced or alkaline balanced and the right amount of chlorine or bromine in it. Then apparently, this buildup can happen. I basically got a fast course on how to balance the water. That was the problem where the gunk was coming from. Every week I would go to Leslie's and they'd check the water and then helped me balance it. They were very helpful with regards to it.
The salesperson at Cal Spas said this is a super easy spa to maintain. I just throw a capful of chlorine every time I use it and it’ll be fine 'cause there's an oxygenator in it. It's not the case. Every week I've got to do a test on it to make sure that the balance is right, so it's a little more complicated. Now that we’ve got it all balanced out, the spa is a nice thing to have around. In hindsight, I wouldn't have bought one.

We’ve used Cal Spas for about a year, and this year, I purchased a new, five-person, above-the-ground model. Installation was fairly quick, and the installers got here on time. The tub is pretty to get into. They moved it into position, uncrated it and plugged it in. They gave me a brief overview on how it works and it didn't last any more than an hour or two. But I was not a hundred percent satisfied in dealing with their team. It seems like there is only one girl in charge in the office who really knows what she's doing, but she's not there all the time. Her hours are a little hit and miss. And when I did get somebody else other than her, the service was terrible. They said they'd call me back but they didn't. It was just somebody from the warehouse who happened to pick up the phone because it was ringing. The people in the office were less than desirable. There are some people that should be praised down there but overall, they need to get their act together.
However, the technician who came out here was fantastic. He got here at the prescribed time and took care of the problem, which was actually a manufacturing defect. They had left a seal out when they put the thing together, but it's understandable because I think it was a showroom model and everything's cooled there. The spa itself does have a couple of places where it looks like they did some body work on the fiberglass and I'm not a hundred percent happy with that. But it's not causing any trouble other than cosmetic, so I've done both repair and fiberglass repair. And I can see where they definitely had some holes drilled and filled them up.

I went to the Bloomsburg Fair in the late September of 2014 and bought a tub at Cal Spas. I was sold by the light accessories and was also attracted to all the waterfalls and the fountain. I didn’t want any of the electronics like the music or TV. They had the largest amount of jets for the amount of seating I wanted compared to other brands and also the most lights.
My installation experience was good but there was a mix-up when I purchased it. When I bought at the stall, they sold it out from under me so I had to wait a good two months before I could get my hot tub and I was anxious to get it. But when I got it, the installation team installed it the same day and made sure it was all working before they left, so I was happy with that. Then there was a problem with the cycling system since it wouldn’t shut off and then my tub overheated. They did come and checked that out. Unfortunately, the tub wasn’t doing the problem when they came so they said they couldn’t fix it. But it hasn’t done it since. Nevertheless, they replaced the two lights that went out and the headrest as it started deteriorating. I wasn’t too happy with the supplier and the tub itself had some issues but fortunately it's still under warranty.

Cal Spas has been awesome. The salesman we worked with showed us the range of things. We were looking at everything from new to previously owned and we ended up with something that we're happy with. They've sold a great product and their service, delivery, and set up were also very good. The advice they gave me about how to run and maintain was very good. They even came out and did that in person. We continue to get supplies from them and it's all good.

I purchased a tub for my previous home from a different vendor and I wasn’t happy with the service there so I went to Cal Spas because they service all types. When I moved and it came time to get a new one, I trusted their expertise. The installation went fine. It was November 14 when it was supposed to start snowing in the afternoon, so they were supposed to be out in the morning but they were late. So they ended up finishing it in snow. But it was installed correctly - all’s well that ends well.
I have to talk to Cal Spas again when they had to replace the radio on it. Then the heater and pumps would not run at the same time. The guy opened the box and changed one little switch. Both times they were prompt and fixed it. But if I had to do it over again, I would have gotten the better installation package. I wished the guy had pushed that a little harder. It would have run a little more efficiently. But we've been happy overall.

The only hassle I've had is the jets. The inside broke out of them and I had shards of this plastic showing up from the bottom of my hot tub so I just knocked out the center on the rest of them. They were all breaking down, and I don’t know what the issue was. They said we probably hit it with our foot or something. My wife and I are the only people that use this hot tub and we don't mess around with it. But other than that, the hot tub’s fantastic. Before having Cal Spas, our other hot tubs were a little hotter which ran around 105 to 106. Cal Spas only runs at 104, but we’re getting used to it and it's comfortable. The installers that came in were good. They took the old tub out, slid the new one in and had a couple of minor issues, but got everything resolved.

I had a horrible experience with Cal Spas and I would never, ever buy from them again. The process was really bad. It was my first spa and my wife and I were very happy and excited. We did research between different brands and manufacturers and decided to go with Cal Spas. When I was there, I took a picture of the spa I wanted which they had on display and it looks almost black. As for the marble, they explained to me the color might change a little bit because of the lining, but it was no problem. When they delivered the Spa to my house, I have pictures to prove the original spa that I wanted at the fair and the one they delivered in my house was a different color.
Moreover, I have to build a little slab in the back of my patio because there was a little slope and before I hired this construction guy to come and build it, I talked with my salesman and he talked to his manager about the spa dimensions. I was anxious and explained to him that I have to build to make sure it’s flat surfaces so it would be balanced once you put the spa on. He told me an inch or two as allowance should be good. He knew that I ordered a cover lift which goes underneath the spa.
The shipping company Cal Spas used was horrible because they didn’t unwrap everything and when they put the spa onto the concrete where I built it for, the cover lift didn't fit. The dimension was not big enough and I needed more room to put the cover lift because it is hanging out. So now, I don’t have a cover lift on it and I can’t have the construction guy come back and rebuild me something. The jacuzzi is super heavy, not even the world’s strongest man can move this and they expect me and my wife to move the spa off and put the cover lift and build them myself. Not only that, I had the electrical guy have to come to contract and do my electrical work at a certain spot for the spa to be in. I even cut down my gate to move the spa in and put the gate back together. There was a lot of process that I had to do to buy the spa and I tried to explain that to them, but the bottomline is they didn’t give a damn about me after I bought it.
Every time I call them for customer service, this girl, Elaine, is the only one that helped me there. I tried to talk to her manager and the owner, but she knew I can’t talk to them. I think they only have one or two people working there because every time I call, my wait time is at least 30 or 45 minutes. Also, when I had an issue with the side panel falling off on the wood, they told me the spa is under cover through the warranty but the technician was on vacation and they didn’t have another technician to go to my house. I had to wait three or four months for a technician to come which is ridiculous. I was told that if they call another outside party, they'd have to pay for it which they wouldn't do.
Another thing is that I tried to refund the cover lift. Elaine told me on the phone that she was going to give the retailer’s 400 bucks on the cover lift, but then says that she can’t give retail because we lost the package deal at the fair and can only give 150 bucks. I told her that it was not a big deal. Moving on, they said they had wired it to my bank but my card is cancelled so, they'll write me a check instead. I had been calling to get my money back and didn't get it until a couple of months later and for some reason, it was only $114 instead of $150. It was a nightmare and I was so upset. I’d rather pay more to a different company to deal with and get over it. It was the worst buying experience in my life. I'm a manager, I deal with a lot of clients. I know how to treat people and I would never treat my customers the way Cal Spas treated me. I tried to go to Better Business Bureau and voice my opinion but Cal Spas never reached out, called back or care.

Also, five of the jets that twirl have disintegrated within six months even though we have a cover on it and it’s not in the sun. Then, they had to bring the unit back. All in all, it took about nine months before we were able to use our item.
I filed numerous complaints, called and talked to managers, directors, sent emails, Yelp review, everything, and they basically kind of told me to go fly a kite. I'll never use Cal Spas again. I've been married 40 years and every 15 years, we get a new spa because we're spa people. We bought Cal Spas in June. It has what most closely fit our needs. It has more complexity to it as they offer more things but we didn't have any initial issues. With our old hot tub, it was pretty straightforward. But after nine years, it had wear and tear on the parts.
However, we've had more reliability with the other ones and just fewer difficulties. One of the reasons we liked with Cal Spas is it actually had more features than what we wanted. But we just basically want it to stay at a constant temperature and have jets that worked really well. We don't care about music or lights or all those kinds of things. The on-off button for the jets only worked intermittently. It had something to do with the connection on the surface with the button not connecting properly so Valley Pool's technicians replaced that.
And then, we had some issues in the summer which became more noticeable in the fall. We wanted to keep a constant temperature - somewhere between 102 and 103 - but it would overheat and turn itself off. If I wasn't going in every day, it would either be completely turned off or it would be down to 60 and became a bit of a problem for us going into the winter because I never knew when it was going to do that and we didn't want anything to freeze up or create other problems for ourselves. They ordered a new motherboard and put it in early January. Since then, we haven't had any issues at all but I feel we got a lemon. The tub structurally is great with the right size but everything that has gone wrong has been of a computerized nature.
We've gotten great service from Valley Pool. I didn't have to pay them anything for it's still under warranty and the technicians have been prompt and honest. They've come out and dealt with the issue. We were just a little frustrated because we'd gotten something new that had issues with it and when you have issues in the first year, it worries a little bit if you'll have continuous issues. Now, we're hoping that they've been sorted. We actually like the product when it's working.

We knew that it was time to get a new one because we couldn’t even read the numbers or what the spa does. And our neighbor got a new spa and it’s like, “Oh my, that’s what a new spa’s like. We need to do that.” We got a new one from Cal Spas because of their location.
Installation was a piece of cake. But then, it was a little more complicated because I did not realize that we needed to upgrade some of the wirings because we had an old model. We had to send an extra $1000 to upgrade the wiring. But then it turned out that the wiring guy would only do so much and he recommended a handyman. It took three professionals to get the spa installed. But it’s wonderful to get in the spa.

Dave is the Cal Spas Service Manager that I worked with and he was Awesome. He truly cared and spent the time talking with me to show it. Dave also proactively called me to ensure good results. I really appreciate that and will always do business with a person like that. I am also satisfied with the refund applied to my account for the board that I replaced. As a suggestion to everyone installing or replacing equipment like this: It is very quick work so get it all on video. That level of documentation would make this a lot easier. I am sure it would be annoying to the person doing the installation, but it is your brand new hot tub that you need to take care of.
Cal Spas: Please review the circuit board as these types of issues (main terminal) do not happen this often on any other pieces of equipment (from cars, computers, to houses). It might be a simple terminal block material change or spacing to ensure this never happens again. The GFCI should trip. Overall I am satisfied with the reaction and results provided by Cal Spas. Again, Dave was AWESOME. I am a very critical person, so that I and we may learn. My 3 stars definitely goes to 5 stars.

When we were still looking for a tub to purchase, everybody was saying not to buy a Cal Spas unless we go directly to them. We were told we’re going to have a lot of difficulties with warranty if we buy with the distributors, and that’s exactly what happened two weekends ago. We had an issue and the distributor gave me some crap about how it’s because the torque on the terminal block wasn’t right. It was incorrect because I’m an electrical engineer and I had a master electrician that they recommended install it while I hovered over his shoulder. I provided the torque wrench to make sure it was right because he didn’t bring one. They said they recommend me to re-torque it every six months. That’s baloney because that’s not in the manual. The manual gives the steps to wire the hot tub and if we deviate from this at all, it voids the warranty so I did not add or remove any steps.
They then said it was a loose wire and I said it's not because it’s the ground. If the ground gets loose and it arches, it trips a GSCI and I have two of them inline. They said they'll send it in for warranty to Cal Spas and hopefully it works. I think there’s some issue with the terminal block. I found it Saturday morning when I went to go hop in the hot tub and the water was out like 75 and the panel was off, so the breakers were tripped. I had this hot tub underneath it with a little low extra heater at 100 degrees which I did. I kept it between 98 and 106, so the entire weekend until Monday, I left multiple and multiple voicemails with different people in the service center.
We had to call because they do not call us back yet. They came and replaced the board but it wouldn’t be under warranty because the warranty doesn’t cover loose wires, which is not stated in the warranty book. Then the service tech once again did not use a torque wrench to torque down the terminal block to 27 to 30, which I called the service manager right away and he said "Well, that’s on us if that close down."
They’re trying to not reimburse me. I had to pay upfront the 640 bucks. Not only that, but when it went down, the UV filter inside broke. I told them to disconnect it because I’m not going to pay for another $480 for it to get replaced. They were telling me I’m on the hook for all of it and that I was going to pay 1000 bucks so I watched the service tech while he did all the work. I won’t know for another three weeks if Cal Spas is going to reimburse me for the circuitry, which I’m obviously going to raise, if they don't.
But in general, I have been incredibly impressed with the hot tub and with the service that I got at Woodsbury store. Everyone was nice. The service manager I talked and explained all this to truly and sincerely cared. He said he would write a note to go with my bad product at Cal Spas. This is not a loose wire issue. This must be a manufacturing default issue. And I would assume that the service manager has the ability to change them out. The difference between Cal Spas and their competitors is that their competitors are small enough that they can directly take care of the issue immediately.

We are sorry to hear that there may have been an error with the electrical installation from a third party causing a problem with the circuit board. The torque values of the electrical connections are on the inside door of the control box for future reference. In any event we do not want you to be unhappy and we do appreciate your business. As a gesture of good will Cal Spas will provide, at no charge to you, the circuit board you needed for this repair. I understand that the store where you purchased this spa will refund the money you spent on this part right away. We wish you many years enjoying your new hot tub.
