My husband and I have been married for 33 years. When we were in year one of marriage, a friend shared her love of her mini chopper. My husband purchased one for me as a Christmas gift. I STILL use it and it works great. It’s easy to complain when something goes wrong, but this Black & Decker mini chopper has gone above and beyond!! Very impressive.

This review is for the poor, outsourced customer service, nonexistent 1 year warranty, and my bad experience with BLACK+DECKER EM031MB11 Digital Microwave Oven. Purchased on Jun 14, 2021 for $108 on Amazon. I knew I should have returned this microwave the first day I got it. This microwave causes a lot of condensation/water drips upon microwaving anything, wet or dry. The water drips are a problem as it covers the top, dripping into the food, and forms from the inside section of the door. It's also a pain because you are required to wipe it clear within every use, otherwise it starts to develop bad smells as you wait for the drips to dissipate.
I have owned many microwaves, never experienced. I reached out to customer service (which is outsourced to a 3rd party called Midea) for a fix, exchange or refund. They did not offer a solution for the issue. They did nothing. They claim this is normal for microwaves; that is unacceptable. It is a lie to the consumer to claim that microwaves behave this why. If that's "normal" for your microwave, then your product is built very poorly. We couldn't take it anymore after 4 months, so we purchased a Toshiba EM131A5C-SS to replace it (great quality, highly recommend).
Do not trust the one year warranty. This is clearly a lie based on this review and others who experienced similar issues. Another issue I have with this microwave is it's incredibly loud - both the door upon closing it and the heating. The door push latch is hard to push. Not only am I disappointed in this microwave, but Black and Decker's poor customer service shows their lack of care for their customers. I have lost all trust with Black and Decker completely from this experience.

This is the best hand-held vacuum that I have ever purchased. It is small and easy to handle, store and use. The design of the wand makes reaching into those crooks and crannies easy and the power pulls all the debris out into an easy to open, empty and clean chamber. It is equipped with a lithium rechargeable battery that keeps it ready when you are. Having the right tool for the job make every man a pro. This is the right tool for cleaning the car, the stairs, and all of the other places the upright will not reach.

Product number BESTA510, this was a great trimmer with lots of power; however it barely lasted one season. I purchased it a year ago and it worked through last summer and fall, however when I plugged it in for the first time this spring I got zero response from pulling the power trigger (and yes, I checked the power supply). To make things worse, the "certified B&D service centers" are a joke so trying to get this thing fixed is a major hassle.

I purchased a Black & Decker Pressing Iron (for clothes) Model CR15X 120V-60Hz, just last month at Target. This iron is not safe because the "retractable cord reel button" is on top of the handle (not in a safe place). When I'm ironing clothes, I accidently touch the button and the cord automatically retracts and frightens me, it could also cause me to get burned by the hot iron when I panic. I want to returned this iron and buy a better one but unfortunately, Target is not giving refunds at this time, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and I can't find my receipt. Just saying....

Very easy to use, across the bare floor and carpet. I like that it has the hand vacuum that comes off of the front, very handy. The vacuum has good good suction with the roller and the brush. The Hand Vacuum also has very good suction. This is very easy to clean. The cover comes off of the hand vacuum where it can be emptied. The filter is washable. Just rinse and let it dry. This is also cordless. Don't have to worry about tripping over a cord or plugging it in to a wall socket when cleaning. Only to charge it. I would purchase this again. Easiest vacuum I've ever bought.

Called Customer service, and told them there was an issue, product not working. They said to look on the prong of the plug and read off the numbers on the prong. After that they said to cut the plug off and take a picture of the prong with the numbers showing and email the picture to them for replacement. Sent the email with the photo within the hour of conversation.
After a week of hearing not a word, called them they said they got the email with the picture, but the picture was too big they wanted me to resend it in a smaller jpg form. After deciding I could not down size the picture, I called them back. This time I was told to send the picture by mail or send the plug, along with a check for $7.50 to cover the cost of shipping a replacement.... Nothing but a runaround, the product was a piece of junk and the so called customer service and replacement policy is nothing but a scam. I think they make it so difficult with all the aggravation, they hope you give up.

I attempted to communicate with Black and Decker but their site was not working. This was my next option. I purchased the Dustbuster Lithium Flex Hand Vacuum. HFVB315J22. The reason I picked this one was because of the good quality that I have had experience with in the past. The battery does not hold its charge. It gets clogged at the inlet to the cylinder and then backs up into the tubing. I feel this is because there is not enough space between the hose and the spinning part of the cylinder to let the debris to get in and clear it. I feel it needs a little refining to make it work correctly and be up to par for the Black and Decker product.

Purchased Black+Decker TD4314SSD Rotisserie Convection Countertop Oven in late 2018. Tried it for the first time in March 2019 to bake tuna casserole in "convection bake" mode. Set temp to 350 and time to 30. I assumed the time was in minutes. I stepped out of the kitchen for a time and when I came back the oven was off. I did some experiments and found the timer only goes for a maximum of 10 minutes. On the oven it is marked up to 60 minutes. I cannot turn timer knob past "30". It is supposed to have a "stay on" feature if you turn knob to the left but mine won't turn to the left beyond off.
It appears the people at the factory installed the wrong kind of timer in this oven. I searched to see if anyone else had this timer problem and found many reviews of the door exploding. I had high hopes for this oven because it did an excellent job of baking the two casserole dishes evenly. They barely fit in the oven. I'm definitely going to return this as it is defective and dangerous. I don't think I should even donate it to the goodwill store as it will be a problem for someone else.

In the past 9 months, I have purchased 5 Black & Decker Power Series Pro 2-in-1 cordless Lithium Ion Vacuum and have influenced a half dozen others to purchase them. The product itself is wonderful as far as performance and features. A key component of performance and longevity of the vacuum is regular cleaning of the removable filter (B & D instruction manual emphasizes regular cleaning/washing of filter). With less than a year of use, the filters on some of my units have become very frayed and are clogging. B & D Instruction manual identifies replacement filter kit and filter on the BOX the vac arrived in and in the instruction manual, and directs the owner to B & D's website to purchase said filter.
The problem is, they have NEVER had the filter, seem to have no knowledge if the filter will EVER be available... I have contacted B & D by phone and email a dozen times about needing the filters and have been told to call a retailer, call a B & D service center, and the last one told me they think the filters are back ordered. The BS has been flying and the bottom line is -- there are no filters and once the filter croaks on these vacs, no matter how nice they are, they will be dead. This is perhaps why they now retail at $150 and under?? I paid full price of $179 and $199 earlier and I have almost $1k invested in these 5 units. THIS IS MY LAST BLACK & DECKER PURCHASE!

My son threw the receipt away not expecting for it to be such low quality. So I call their warranty line and without a receipt they won’t stand behind their warranted products. They also expect us to send this large vacuum back to them on our dime should we find the receipt. What a ripoff! Shipping back their crappy product will cost us almost as much as the vacuum did. Way to gouge and dump poor quality items off on the consumer rather than taking responsibility and acting ethically. Purchased the 4 slice Black and Decker Toaster on July 17, 2017 because of the name and price was good. On Sept. 25, 2018 the 2 left sided slots got stick with 2 slices of bread inside of them. Smoke came raging out and the smoke filled my kitchen, dining room and living room with thick smoke. My family and I have been cleaning for 2 1/2 days trying to rid my home of this burnt toast smell. The smell has lessened a little but still reeks. We are seeking the help from a professional emergency service company to come and see if they can rid my home of this awful smell. After this incident we have used the internet to see if anything like this has happened in the past with this toaster and sadly it has and always on the left side of the toast.
This is awful and customers need to be warned that this could happen and this toaster needs to be taken off the market. I'm not sure what the cost will be to fix this problem but it involves a custom built wooden kitchen cabinet which the toast sat under, extensive carpeting in the house plus a couch and love seat that all need to be cleaned or replaced! Plus the cost of the service company and a Hepa filter air purifying machine. My home owner’s deductible is $3000.00! Very sad experience with this 4 slice toaster!

I purchased a Black & Decker cordless power screwdriver/drill product #BDCS40BI, a small simple tool. When I looked in the instruction manual it said nothing about how to tighten the bits (that come sealed in the package with the tool). It only shows to put the bits into the hex spindle (DUH) with an arrow pointing in in the illustration, but the bits are very loose and just fall out, much like any other drill that you have to then tighten down the bits, or it isn't usable. I studied this drill and found nothing that tightens the bit. I emailed the address that was given on the instruction manual (and their site online) but the emails kept returning - no such email address.
I called the service number they give to ask any questions or have a problem and this older lady (I think - cause I'm 75) didn't know WHAT I was talking about though I used all the correct terms for the parts and product that's in the manual. After hemming and hawing while reading the same diagram and instruction manual she said she had no idea what the answer was. I sent an email to an address that she gave me (a week ago, and it was never answered). This is just the simplest of power tools, and if I can't get an answer for that - what about the bigger more complex tools?? This also will be posted online and my Facebook page.

Original Review: Dec. 13, 2016
I had bought a Black & Decker 2-in-1 Smart Tech Vac a little over a week ago. Seeing that I like to clean we figured it'd make life easier because it's so light and versatile. It seemed like a great idea but the minute we took it out of the box and went over the manual and used it first time, that's where the problems actually started. First off, we have a toddler and a dog which has a lot of fur. So the fact that the dust bowl is so small was just a minor thing but it's something that wasn't a problem seeing that I do not mind dumping it often. But that was far from the problem. It was the issue that first time dumping the dust bowl and when putting it back into the vacuum, the part that holds the filter that is SUPPOSED to snap back into the vacuum, doesn't actually SNAP all the way back in.
We've tried pushing the chassis back into place and even tried messing with the release vacuum but definitely isn't going totally in. And when using it throughout the week we've had it about 9 times out of ten the filter pops out of the side of the vacuum. And then there is more of a mess to clean up, simply because either this vacuum itself is faulty or it's the model/product itself. And, after reading the manual and seeing that it says not to return product for any reason before reading the manual, and then many attempts contacting customer service thru the website and no reply back to fix this problem.
So I wanted to give this product a chance because the idea of the vacuum is convenient. But then to make matters worse continued to try to make it work and then used the handheld to suck up messes and to find that not only is it got issues it also is pretty much just blowing the dirt and dust right back out seeing that the filter isn't totally secured into the reservoir. That was pretty much the last straw after realizing over this last week that my 8 yr old vacuum that isn't worth $10, which I was using before picks up ten times as much. I'd rather deal with an outdated vacuum that hasn't failed yet. And it's the point. Not everyone has $150 to spend on a vacuum and I don't think anyone who would have this issue with this vacuum would even give it too many more chances to see if it worked. So either my local Walmart sold us a "bad egg" in the batch of vacuums, or simply that this vacuum is just junk.
So, as far as this certain vacuum, unless you enjoy vacuuming up the dirtiest of messes and all to have it blow right back out all over the floor, then this vacuum isn't something I would ever recommend to anyone. After calling the customer service about the issue I only told her a small issue was on phone less than five minutes, I explained how frustrating it is and her answer was that Walmart has a 30 day return policy so her advice was to bring it back. Well sounds like to me the customer service rep really doesn't care that Black & Decker has a unsatisfied customer. Then why should any customer have to go thru such inconvenience. I just want anyone's input who may have the same vacuum and if they have noticed any issues similar to this because this is totally ridiculous!

I purchased a rechargeable Black and Decker lithium halogen spotlight for general purpose and specifically to take on night fishing trips. I bought the flashlight new several months ago and have had it on the charger. I took it out two nights ago and the flashlight didn't work at all. This is the second one I bought because the first one didn't work and I assumed it was a "lemon". Walmart accepted the initial exchange. This time I didn't feel like it was Walmart's responsibility so I called Black and Decker (as indicated on the tag on the flashlight if there is any issue, "don't return to the retailer"). I spoke to the customer service representative Chris and the short of it was that I have to produce a receipt (which I no longer have) and then ship the flashlight to their service center (at my own expense) for their diagnostics and if the product was found faulty they would send me a replacement.
I respectfully explained to him that this is the second faulty B&D flashlight I've had and there is obviously a problem. Honestly the two hours it would take me to go to Walmart, try to research and find the receipt; package the flashlight and charging cords, stand in line at the post office and pay for shipping wasn't worth my time. I paid probably $45 for the light. Not a huge deal, but the fact that I have / had other B&D products, with marginal quality in the past years I will no longer be a customer. Chris was just following policy but I can tell you Black and Decker if you can't empower your customer service people to accommodate the customer when you have marginal products anyway, you will lose customers. I have had B&D circular saws, jig saws, nail guns and I grew up in a family that had Black and Decker products.
I proposed Chris send me a shipping label and I would mail the light and accessories to their center for diagnosis and if they discovered it was a product issue they could send me a new one. He said they couldn't do that. Doesn't speak well to your quality control priorities either. I don't normally go to these extremes to spend time writing a customer complaint, but B&D used to be a good company with quality products. My Dad still has a "steel" B&D drill that he has used since I can remember (almost 50 years). I would love to come back to this site and tell the public that B&D saw this posting and stood by their product. Unless you send me a new light, improve your product quality and customer service, I will no longer be a B&D consumer and will advise any of my colleagues to avoid them as well.

I called again and was told they would send another form. 7 or 8 days later I received the form. I filled it out and sent it to the appropriate address. On the form it said that merchandise refund requests are processed within 10 business days. 14 business days went by and no refund check. I called Midea and asked about status of refund and was told that it normally took 20 business days to process the request. I personally will never buy another Black & Decker product of any kind. Their products are no longer of any reasonable quality. My advise to any potential Black & Decker customer, buyer be extremely aware.

I have a Black and Decker T0137SSD Toaster Oven and the Temperature Control Knob melted onto the shaft and is no longer working. There is no heat shield between the ovens thin wall and any of the control knobs, which concerns me. Also these knobs are made of plastic. From what I am reading they should be made of heat resistant phenolic to meet high temperature requirements.

Part broke within 30 days and the company did not even answer phone. I was transferred a number of times to a never ending ringing tone, or left on hold for hours with the same tune replaying repeatedly. Torture to say the least. The company does not seem to support their kitchen products and leaves you out in the cold when you call for assistance. This happened more than once and every time I recalled and told them I had a problem with a kitchen product. The last time I called they gave me a number to call that was an infomercial about winning a cruise to the Bahamas and numerous products.

First day noticed the motor sounds laboring. It is making smoothies. I've had it for 5-months now. I like the price, glass pitcher and compact size. However the circular seal between pitcher and blade assembly broke. I found only one online site for replacement parts (only one seal left at $11). All parts are expensive compared to other brands (Oster - 22 seal). Why would the Black and Decker glass replacement pitcher cost more than buying a new blender? Doesn't Black and Decker sell replacement parts for their brand? When the seal broke my sugary milk mix seeped into all control buttons. A design with a hood could have protected buttons. Has this compromised the use too? I will not recommend this brand.

I bought a Black & Decker chest freezer a little over 2 years ago (and yes haier also does black and decker). I came home from work one day to find my garage fully engulfed in smoke. I called the fire department and they determined the motor from the freezer started the fire, and had done over $5,000 worth of damage to my home. This was just over a year ago, and I am still fighting with them. I called the customer service line, talked to many reps, managers, agents, etc. After months of talks they put me thru to their insurance company, who contacted the manufacturer in China.
They denied my claim because I could not ship the freezer to China!!!! Never mind I had the fire report, pictures of the freezer where the fire started, and countless other documents to prove their freezer started the fire. This is disgusting! They just now sent me a replacement freezer, that was even smaller than the one I had. Then they had the audacity to send me a letter in the mail with a recall for my particular freezer that said unplug immediately it may ignite. Really? This had me to the boiling point. I am in search of an attorney. I know it's not much money to some, but it's a lot to me. I have to scrape every penny, and they should have to make this right. 5,000 is nothing to them. Sometimes it takes a mouse to bring down the mountain.

Just bought this new coffee brewer 2 months ago. The unit is a bad design, it will dump brewing hot coffee all over the counter. This happens because the basket that holds the filter tilts as the urn is pushed into the maker. This has happened about 10 times. No matter how careful you are, it will still happen. I've had this happen on other brewers but that was because the basket had grounds in it and plugged up a small hole. This brewer is a complete bad design and will probably end up starting a fire.
Every time I use it, I'm really careful how I set it up to brew. It can make a real mess on my counter. There is no serial # on the unit, just BLACK AND DECKER'S NAME. I have bought the name Black and Decker since the '60s. Over the last 10 years, the quality has gotten worse and worse. You think the company would address these complaints, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR.

I purchased a B&D 32 volt cordless trimmer from a big box home improvement store. A few months later, I attempted to find a second battery for the unit as the charger is designed for two batteries. I discovered that the trimmer had been discontinued and B&D no longer manufactured (provided) batteries. I understand that certain models of equipment are discontinued but with cordless units, the batteries should be available for at least a couple of years. Batteries go bad and this makes the unit worthless. I contacted to B&D customer "service" and they were completely uninterested in helping. I would steer clear of B&D at all costs unless you have lots of extra money to throw away. BTW, the battery pack I have appears to be bad now after only two seasons.

I bought my first B & D 12-cup adjustable brew strength coffeemaker a couple of years ago and after 6 months it wouldn't work. I had a house full of company and when I went to make coffee in the morning, the coffeemaker was dead - it wouldn't do anything. After several weeks of back and forth with Black & Decker, I was finally told to cut the plug off the cord and send it to them and they would send me a new one as it was still under warranty. Of course, I had bought a cheapie coffeemaker in the meantime.
I finally received a new one in the mail. It hasn't been a year yet and the same thing has happened. The element must be gone because all the lights and clock comes on, but it doesn't brew. Nothing. I am extremely dissatisfied with Black & Decker. I'm glad I kept my cheapie Sunbeam because that's what I'm using now. It's too bad because I really liked the coffeemaker. It looked good and made good coffee and for the price I thought I'd have many years of use from it. I will not be purchasing any more Black & Decker appliances.

Black and Decker SpaceMaker coffee maker rusted after 2 months. After many calls and hours on the phone with customer service, the only way they would replace the unit was to cut the cord and send it to them. It would also take at least 4-6 weeks to replace because they have none in stock anywhere in the US. So, I had to go out and buy another coffee maker in the interim. Black and Decker Space Saver toaster purchased at the same time just had door pull fall off. After 3 calls and hung up on twice, I got the same answer. They will replace the unit after I cut the cord and send it to them. Hence, I have to go out and buy another one till replacement arrives. Black and Decker quality has become so disappointing and the customer service even worse. I would sadly not recommend these products to anyone, in the future.

In attempting to contact B&D, I made four calls into their customer service line; and every time, I was hooked into a French-speaking person, whom I obviously could not understand. Once the French person got done speaking, I was hung up on. 45 minutes later, I actually got a person to talk to. This person was very good at taking my complaint and said they would send me new chargers. Well, at least he said he was going to send them. Time will tell.
My big complaint is the customer no-service that B&D made me go through for 45 minutes. I will be thinking twice before I purchase another one of their products, any of their products.

I purchased the B&D tabletop convection oven (Perfect Broil Convection Oven CTO4500S) at Macy's on 3/3/12 and it was shipped to me. The "timer" on the oven also doubles as the on/off switch. It is a spring loaded turn knob with directions to turn past the "20" minute mark, then turn back to the desired number of toasting minutes. This sets the timer and, when time is ended, serves to turn the oven off. With less than a month's use, the timer "sprung" - you could neither set the timer nor turn the oven on/off. I called B&D and they advised me to discontinue use and that they would send me a replacement oven.
I asked whether it was fair to assume that the replacement would also have this same defect and was told by the representative, Rebecca, that "we don't have any recall of this product". I was also told that I would receive a letter instructing me on disposal of the original oven. This phone call with B&D was on 4/27/12. I received the replacement oven on 5/2/12 and began use. I also packed the original oven for return. On 5/18/12, I re-contacted B&D and spoke with John. I told John that I had not received the letter instructing me on how to dispose of the original oven and asked him for direction. He confirmed that the letter had not been sent and it would be "soon". I have not received any instruction from B&D regarding disposal of the original oven as of this date (6/1812).

I called several times the 800 number on the enclosed brochure. After 47 minutes the last time on hold, an automated voice came on to leave a message, still no answer after a couple of weeks. I just went to an “answer website” and they want $30 to answer my questions! These mixers have not been used more than two dozen or so times a piece. What is happening to standards? I just want to know if I can get either of these mixers fixed or replaced, and not give someone another 30 bucks for them to say, "Oh, well, that's your tough luck." Can anyone out there help me?
