Total garbage, has 4 or 5 parts that need extensive cleaning after each use, it takes longer to clean the item than it does to clean the floor, way longer. It doesn't clean hard floors. It just smudges dirt around, and, worst of all, the things absolutely stinks, it spreads a foul smell wherever it goes regardless of how much time you spend cleaning the item. I am trying to get a refund for selling me an item that doesn't do any of the things it claims to do. Do not buy Bissell under any circumstances.

When we bought our new home, we also decided to get a new vacuum—specifically the BISSELL PowerForce Helix Turbo Rewind Pet, an upright vacuum designed to handle pet hair with an automatic cord rewind, extra-wide cleaning path, and a sleek black and green design. We picked this model based on fond memories of Bissell’s past stellar performance, thinking it was a reliable choice that outshined everything else on the market. However, our experience has been quite disappointing.

We purchased this Bissell vacuum on October 5, 2025. From the very first use, the retractable cord didn’t work, and unfortunately, it’s been non-retractable for the entire month we've owned it. Initially, it seemed to clean hardwood floors adequately, but things quickly took a turn. The vacuum started spitting out debris from the back, and now, even cleaning near our kitty litter box during a quick spill results in litter being scattered across the floor in a wide pattern. Attempting to vacuum the carpet has become a joke—powerful enough to leave clean lines when grooming the carpet, but dirt and debris still spew out the back in every direction. Despite following all care instructions carefully, this machine is more noise than functionality—an expensive noise maker at best. Overall, this has been a deeply disappointing purchase experience and not at all what we expected based on past impressions of the brand.

This is hands down the worse item I have purchased. It cost $350 and has not gone more than 6 mos without issue. I even returned it to manufacturer and it just broke 2 weeks after getting it back. The warranty is a joke. I think they know unit is a piece of trash. It has stopped working.

I purchased a Bissell PowerClean FurFinder cordless sitck vacuum. We picked this machine specifically to clean up the cat hair from the carpet at our retail shop. What a disappointment! After the initial charging of the battery, I gave the PowerClean it's maiden voyage round my retail shop. This vacuum pulls the cat hair from the carpet, but it doesn't suck the hair up--it leaves the hair in a line (in the the shape of the brush head) on the carpet. It doesn't matter if you linger the vacuum over the line of hair for several seconds or if you run the vacuum over the line of hair multiple times.... it just moves the line of hair around, never sucking it up.

I switched the vacuum head to the FurFinder head, and it was able to mostly collect the lines of hair, but this is not a sustainable way to run the vacuum. The FurFinder head is very narrow, and it only wants to go in one direction--pulling towards you. In a 5,000 sq. ft. store, this method of vacuuming would take hours. Honestly, after I vacuumed with the Bissell for 30 minutes (because that's all you get out of the battery), I pulled out my little cordless $50 Shark vacuum. Not only did it pick up the lines of hair, but it picked up twice as much dirt in 5 minutes as the Bissell did in 30.

My brand new Bissell pet pro crosswave that cost $250 caught on fire and I've spent over a month almost 2 months now dealing with this employee Carla who refuses to honor the warranty and do anything. I'm disabled and I've already been to the ER because of having to clean up s*** by hand because of him physical problems now and my carpet is being ruined and I rent and I'm on section 8 which could make me lose housing. I am so furious. I've spent so much money on Bissell products and I've had all of them break in a very short period of time and the only reason I haven't dealt with it is because my mom died and I've been dealing with that for the last three years and I couldn't spend my entire existence trying to get my refund or get my replacement from a company that supposed to be honorable and have ethics but clearly there is none. I'm so furious, it's absolutely repulsive.

The 1551 I loved but pain cleaning brushes and cleaning carpet fibers that get picked up. Then my tank started to leak. Mind you it's never ben dropped. The money they want for tank is crazy so I bought the 1986. It has buttons you push and brushes drop out so much easier. Now guess what? My tank leaking. This is a problem with all all. It is is a plug with rubber to seal so I'm gonna try putting wide rubber band on it. If that don't work I'll buy another brand.

I love the Bissell Powerfresh Scrubbing & Sanitizing Steam Mop, 1806 Series. The initial assembly was easy. There is one screw involved and they tape it to the handle; where you cannot miss it. :) The wide base is great and the rotation of the base while in use is very nice. It steams-up very quickly. The mop will stay standing-up on its own. It's been raining so I had plenty of practice over the weekend cleaning up accumulated mud and then cleaning additional fresh mud tracks from our three dogs. It did a great job generating steam and cleaned the floors completely.

I like the size of the water reservoir and felt like I did not run out of water too quickly even when running on High Steam. And it's wonderful that the fill cup can be attached to the handle; so I will never lose it! Yep, I have had other steamers and always eventually lose the fill cup. I also admire Bissell's commitment to helping Animal Shelters. I've seen first-hand how Bissell's help translates into rescued dogs and cats being adopted. We have been working with Special Pals doing Fostering and we also help at Adoption Events. The assistance Bissell has been so generous in giving the Shelter makes a difference in saving lives.

Bissell is a terrible company! I own an upright carpet cleaning machine (Md 1899) which has been cheaply made. I think they know because they discontinued it much sooner than I think. It's only about 5 years old! There's a clear plastic part in the front bottom which sucks up the debris. It has broken on me now 3 times. The first 2 times it cracked but now 2 out of 4 tabs that hold it In place broke off so I want to replace it. There's no information for this machine such as part number. So now I can't search for it anywhere and after calling Bissell which isn't easy to get their help I'm told sorry no parts available. That's not product support it's a kick in the **. I will replace this machine but it won't be a Bissell product. I advise consumers BEWARE!!!

Do NOT buy Bissell! Their quality control and customer service is a complete failure. I purchased a Pet Hair Eraser Slim. It hadn't been a year and there was 3 holes in the suction tube. I called, they sent a replacement because the VACUUM was still under warranty. I had to send my damaged one back which of course meant they'll put the same badly designed tube in it and send it out to someone else. They sent the wrong head. I had to send that back and then they sent the right one. Mind you I was without a vacuum all through this.

Here I am not even another year later and I have a hole in the suction tube again. I contacted them. They offer me a 20% discount to buy that same defective reworked part or to buy a new vacuum. Because the vacuum is now out of warranty, past 1 year. They do not warranty the defective part they replaced separately. “This is unacceptable” I say. They have an obviously defective product, my vacuum isn't even 3 years old and I'm dealing with holes in the 2nd tube. “The best we can do is 25%” they say. Another 5%!? Are you out of your mind!?

I tell them to escalate this to a higher up. They say I'll be contacted within a week by email with a decision. I received an email within an hour saying the same. That it's 25% and it's only valid while on chat or phone ordering through an agent with this complaint. Completely blown off. BISSELL you are a huge company. Your customer service should be extremely better. There is absolutely no reason my vacuum shouldn't have been replaced by the newer model, at the very least. Your vacuum lasted LESS THAN A YEAR and now I have to buy another. I promise you, IT WON'T BE A BISSELL.

This was a weird experience! I bought the Bissell Spot Cleaner Pro without reading reviews. After a very short time of owning it, not even using it, the hose split open just from being wound on the coil. We were able to cut it down, but then again few short months it split open without being used. I called the warranty dept and they said I couldn't warranty it as no receipt. I was like "OK well let me buy the hose", and they informed me you can't buy the hose! After pressing them about how the warranties fix broken hoses, I was told they get shipped to authorized service vendors. I was excited to finally get it out of them than hoses do exist, but then when I tried to find this authorized dealer, it was in some obscure little town in CA! And nowhere else! I have to throw it in the trash now because of a cheap plastic hose!

I had used my Crosswave several times over its first year, cleaning it very well after each use. Then one day the little pump that squirts water on the roller quit working. I found that Bissell did not sell parts, as we wanted to repair it ourselves. We were told to take it to a repair shop where we were told Bissell won't sell them parts so they would be able to repair it. Basically, it is designed to be disposable.

    1. My bank or card is the issue.

    3. There are no retailers so good for me for calling.

    4. And lastly, payment went through but the address is incorrect so you must provide a refund.

Ordered an air filter for a Bissell product, Bissell processed the payment for $25 (immediately, of course) and then sent a bottle of $8 carpet cleaner. Not sure how they could confuse the 2 items, but mistakes happen. I called customer service and after spending 10 min. navigating their god-awful customer service menu, I finally connected with a CS rep who apologized and promised to send the air filter within 3-5 business days.

5 business days have passed and although I’ve yet to receive the air filter I initially ordered over 2 weeks ago, Bissell apparently did make the time to charge my checking account a 2nd time for the same air filter. If you deal with these idiots, make sure to spell everything out for them like you would a small child who’s hearing impaired. Additionally, keep a close eye on your checking account, it’s a little too convenient for them to process multiple payments without your authority once they have your account info.
