I bought a 42' Flat screen Vizio TV from Sears in September 2007 for $1,100. Yesterday, the TV screen went black. It won’t turn off without unplugging it. No sound or picture. I called Vizio and they gave me the number to a repair center where I can fix it at my own expense. It looks like there are a lot of people with this same issue. When I bought the TV, it had great reviews. Wish I would have known it would only last 2.5 years. Definitely not worth the money! Totally unacceptable for Vizio to make this product knowing its shelf life is so short!

I just bought a 32 inch Vizio TV on January 29, 2010 and after less than 3 months the TV goes out completely. I am dealing with Customer support now but to no avail. I sent in the receipt (copy)and I am waiting back for them to set up a service call. It's been 2 days and no one has called back yet. I am out 500 dollars for this TV. It took me a year to save up and buy (money from Tax refund). A TV should last longer than 3 months.

I called customer service, they said unplug, hold on the button for 30 seconds and that should fix it. It is still not fixed. I would not recommend anyone to this brand ever! I am out about $500.00 as it just went out of warranty.

I bought a 36" flat screen Plasma from Wal-Mart approximately one year ago. I paid $600.00 for the TV and just recently we decided to replace our entertainment system. I unplugged the TV and when I plugged it back in, nothing. I had the power cord tested and it was fine; however, the TV will not power back up. I did notice that a couple of days prior when I did turn the unit on it would turn on and off, similar to other complaints. I will never purchase another Vizio product again.

I purchased a new HDTV at Walmart on October 30, 2009. It worked fine up until today (almost 7 months). The picture on the screen became muted, then it developed lines throughout the screen without displaying a picture, made a electrical sounding popping noise, then went totally black. Is this the new business model, taking customer's money and not providing a quality product or customer service? This is ridiculous! This purchase required significant sacrifice during a time of financial hardship to enable my daughter to complete school assignments/projects. This will negatively impact my daughter's performance in school as I'm unable to purchase a new TV or have this one repaired.

I purchased a Vizio Plasma TV in March 2008. Approximately six months ago I started having problems with the TV. The screen would go black. I would turn the TV on and off over and over until it finally stayed on. One day I tried this again and it never came on. I purchased the Vizio TV at Wal-Mart and spent $600 on it. I don't want to spend more money to get it fixed. It’s obvious based on all of the other similar complaints that Vizio should replace these defective products. I should not have to pay to get my TV fixed. I will never buy another Vizio product and I will tell others the same.

It wasn't that bad when it started but now it's really bad. It takes like 5 freaking minutes to just turn the thing on. Not happy for the money I shelled out for that thing. I won't be buying Vizio again.

I purchased my Vizio Plasma HDTV, model # VP322 HDTV10A just about 1.5 years ago. For the past week when I go to turn the set on, it will turn on/off numerous times before finally staying on. Today was different, 5/21/10. When I tried to turn the set on today, nothing happened. I visited Vizio's FAQs site to see if there was anything posted about this problem and found nothing. The set is out of warranty and no extended warranty. The set cost me almost $600. Since the purchase of this Vizio HDTV, I have become disabled and am on a fixed income so I am not able to purchase a new TV, or take this one to have it repaired.

According to a Google search and your Consumer Complaints on Vizio television sets, this is a very common complaint and is a manufacturer defect which Vizio has been aware of since they started manufacturing them. I would like Vizio to do the honorable thing and replace it with a brand new HDTV. My television set prior to this one lasted me 20 years! And since it is now government regulated to go “digital”, I feel that these newer “digital” TV sets should be made with quality and integrity instead of turning a blind eye or trying to pass the fault onto the “End User”. I'm sorry; I just do not see how an overheating issue is an End User issue. It's not; it's a manufacturing defect, period!

I paid nearly $600 for a television set that is now nothing more than a tabletop decoration that doesn't work. Since I purchased the HDTV about 1.5 years ago, I have become disabled and am on a fixed income leaving me absolutely no alternatives for replacement or even repair. I have read on your Consumer Complaint section where others who have had the same issues and myself have had their sets repaired only to have the sets experience the same issues again, which ultimately means that repairing the problem is not the answer. Obviously, there is an issue with overheating, so maybe they need to install some sort of cooling system like they do for PCs that are used for gaming situations. Those types of PCs use a lot of power and resources and are designed with a built-in cooling system. The same should be done for these HDTVs that experience overheating.

I have a Vizio 32" Plasma. When cold at start-up, the unit repeatedly turns itself on and off before finally turning on. It is getting worse. It's less than 2 years old. The point I want to make here is the people ranting about Vizio and what a ** brand they think it is. All of the manufacturers of LCD and plasma including the "quality" names like Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, have issues the same as you with the TVs not lasting very long. Google it yourself, if you don't believe me. I am not happy with what has happened to my Vizio, but we must realize that the problem is with all the manufacturers. We should be ranting about all the makers of these TVs, not single out just one. I bought this TV as a replacement for my 19 year old set that still works fine.

I left the room, and when I came back, the television was making a loud scrambled-signal type sound and the picture on the screen was distorted (vertical lines going through the picture). I tried to shut it off with the remote and power button, but it would not power off. Finally, I unplugged it. I haven't been able to turn it on since. The yellow/orange stand-by light is on ("vizio"), but the panel itself will not come on. I've tried holding the power button while plugging in the unit (as someone described below), and this didn't help. This is really very irritating. I've contacted the lawyer. I called the support number and spoke to Tech Ray who told me this was an ongoing problem with that set. It gets too hot and causes problems for the power board. He told me that this will only get worse and that I had to have it fixed. He also told me that Vizio was aware of this and they had stopped producing Plasma sets because of the problem. I do not feel this is the right thing for them to do when they know that their product is only good for about a year and a half. I feel I am owed a replacement set. It does this around 20 times automatically before it will cut on.

But today, it never turned back on. I also tried leaving the TV on all night and day, because when I turned it off, it would either not come back on or go through the on and off procedure around 20 times automatically by its self. When the TV finally decided to turn on, I kept it on for two weeks straight. I would just cut the cable converter box on and off so that the dark black screen on the TV would come on instead of the bright blue. I did that for two weeks.

Today I spent several hours dealing with Vizio representatives regarding the repair of my new Vizio TV model V0320E. What started as a pleasant and prompt customer service experience several days ago turned into a nightmare today. I purchased the TV on December 7th from Costco and after just over 3 months the picture became defective. This was not user error or misuse, this is a product defect caused by overheating. I contacted both the Costco Concierge service and Vizio customer service departments around March 19th or 20th ,just days after the 90-day warranty was up. Per the request of the Vizio rep I sent digital photos to tech support.

They set up an appointment for today, March 29th - the service technician arrived and replaced a circuit board. The TV worked fine, I signed off on the paperwork and within about an hour the same problem recurred. I immediately contacted Vizio. After discussing this problem with several Vizio representatives, all they would offer me was the same response: Vizio would provide me with a re-certified unit or a new one which required a $150.00 additional charge. I stated numerous times that I wanted a brand new unit not a re-conditioned or re-certified unit. I purchased a brand new unit and I expect a brand new unit to replace it. They insisted no other option was possible. Throughout this entire exchange all I did get was "I'm sorry Sir". Well "I'm sorry" isn't what I was looking for. Although the TV was just days past the warranty deadline it seems to me that a full replacement with a brand new TV was not unreasonable.

After realizing I was getting nowhere I requested to once again be transferred to a supervisor which now was up to the Level 3 category - I was abruptly disconnected. Throughout these conversations a Costco concierge representative, Jose, was on the line. We discussed the next move and I indicted I wanted a full refund. He suggested I go back to Coscto and see what the manager could do. I immediately took the TV back to Costco and without hesitation the manager at the Costco in Lake Zurich, IL offered me a full refund in cash with no questions asked.

Something tells me he's been through this before. It seems to me that if you wish to maintain a loyal and faithful costumer base you would do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. I wasn't trying to return a product that was 9, 10 or 11 months old, it was just days out of warranty. I think you should take a long hard look at your company policy and remember that costumer satisfaction is priority. Yes, I received a full refund, but not without much stress, time wasted and aggravation. Many thanks to the Costco manager for understanding the situation. Vizio could learn something here. I suggest that Vizio reconsiders its position with this matter! Your timely response is requested.

You would have to literally push the button continually for about 20 min before it would finally catch and hold. We contacted the Vizio tech center and talked to Joe. We sent him a copy of receipt and he sent out a repairman who replaced two major components. Well, that lasted less than a year because last night the TV shut itself off and won't come back on. No light, no sound, nothing.

I called Joe and asked what could be done. He gave me the number of a service center where I can pay for its repair because I didn't buy an extended warranty. Something should be done to rectify or help consumers with this problem. This is simply unfair because there should be more done to prevent consumers from having to pay additional monies to get a product that we have faith in repaired. There is more to selling a product then slapping high price tags on them. Vendors should stand behind their products. I want the problem fixed. We saved a long time to purchase a new TV. This is not a disposable item. It would be nice if the government would force a recall. This happens to 99% of the TV's one month after the warranty is over. Consequences are that we are out several hundred dollars because no one will take responsibility and fix the problem.

I purchased a 42" Vizio HDLCD from Walmart in August of 2008. Out of nowhere, the picture went out and a flash came from the back. I still had sound but no picture. I called technical support and they told me to hold the power button for 15 seconds and I did. When I turned it back on, I no longer had sound. She told me it must be the motherboard and I would need to get a repair person out. I'm thinking a minimum $100 for the repair guy and another $250 or so for the motherboard. I'll go buy a new TV, but it will not be a Vizio, and to all of those I have bragged about this TV, they will all hear how they should never buy one. After reading the consumer complaints, I don't feel like I'm going to have anything good come out of a phone call to customer service or a technician. Obviously, Vizio doesn't stand behind their product and we are out the money. Where do we go from here? Can we all pull together and file a complaint through the court system? We might not get all of our money back but at least we could " stump their sales". This TV was financed through Dell at 21% interest and I am still paying on it and will continue to or my credit will be ruined. I'm left with no TV but the bill remains.

It appears we are not alone in our problem with the 46" Vizio TV that we purchased from the Sam's Club store in Springfield, MO in 2/07. We unboxed the TV after purchase, placed it on stand, hooked up the cables, and has not been moved since. It worked great, then on 1/29/10, we turned the TV on. The screen is black and white and scrolling from right to left, then went blue. It had sound for a while then no sound, a message came up: "NO SIGNAL".

We called Vizio and they sent us through their little test, like they haven't heard this story before, then said it was our satellite company's problem. I called Dish and they tried several different things - they didn't feel it was their problem. We hooked an old TV up to Dish and it worked fine. We called Vizio back the next day, of course we are out of warranty. They gave us a number to call for service - they want $365 to look at it and have no idea if it can be fixed. This TV was $1300 and you would expect for that kind of money it would last longer than almost 3 years.

The story even gets worse - we purchased 2 more because we thought the TV was so good - just waiting for them to do the same thing. I still have my receipt so I will be contacting Sam's next to see if they will compensate in any way. Hopefully they will stand by the products they sell since the manufacturer won't. I will definitely never buy another Vizio and will tell everyone I know about this experience. We have a Toshiba big screen that is over 15 years old that is still going strong.

I bought a Vizio HDTV a year and a half ago from Sam's here in Cheyenne for $1100. It's the largest purchase for our family and nicest thing we had ever bought. Two weeks ago, it started to not turn on when first tried. Then we turned it on upon returning home from out of town, and it started smelling like it was going to catch fire. I felt buying extended warranty was unnecessary at the time of purchase, what a mistake. I called Vizio, got nothing but a referral to their out of warranty repair provider. I called and was told it would be $125 for a tech to come and look at it but they explained the failure was probably catastrophic and would cost more than a new TV.

I am not working due to illness and cannot replace it at this time. Plus, several of our family members have bought Vizios upon our recommendation, and we are worried they are going to have problems with their TVs. We are back to watching a 20 inch Curtis Mathis that I purchased 12 years ago, back when a product built in America could be counted on to last. Upon my research, I have found I am not the only person or family who has lost out after purchasing a Vizio. We are just a number now. Vizio knows they are putting out trash masked by extended warranties. Getting only one quarter of the expected lifespan of a TV amounts to a fleecing of the American people. I bought a Dell Computer at the same time I bought the Vizio and the computer has had to be replaced and the TV is trash. It's sad to see the degradation of the American manufacturing sector.

On the December 28, 2009, a subcontracted Vizio tech, who to my surprise was our old Charter repair tech (That's another disastrous story!), came and changed out two circuit boards; this didn't work. We had no picture, except that bold green vertical bar running up the middle. He became so frustrated with his limited skills. He called his superior, who tried to guide him in the problem solving. In December 2009, we started having problems with the volume not working. But if you turned the television off and then back on, it would sometimes start working again. But then on January 4, 2010, the TV stopped working entirely. As soon as you would turn it on, it would immediately shut off.

We started researching the cost to repair the television to find that the repairs were as much as a new one would cost! As we researched things even further, we discovered that many other people were having the exact same problems with their Vizio televisions that we were having. We think it is ridiculous that a television that you pay that much only lasts for 2 years, if you're lucky!

Someone needs to shut this company down or make them stand behind this poor excuse for a product! We definitely learned our lesson, and we will research things before purchasing from now on! We are also spreading the word to everyone we know to not purchase a Vizio. They are a piece of crap!

I purchased a 26" Vizio HDTV from WalMart on 6/24/08. I paid $350 for this TV. In February 2009, the TV screen turned white and never came back on. There was sound but no picture, just a white screen. I contacted Vizio and it was still under the one-year warranty so I was able to ship it to them, they repaired it and they shipped it back. In December 2009, the exact thing happened again, white screen but still has sound. So I contacted Vizio again, only to find out that the original one-year warranty is expired and they only guarantee their warranty work for 90 days.

They gave me a phone number for a Vizio repair company but I have not called them yet because I do not have the money to ship the TV off to get it fixed and I'm sure I don't want to know what the cost will be to fix it. I told the Vizio representative on the phone that I would tell everyone I knew about my experience with their product and would highly recommend that they do not purchase those products. I am also telling everyone that WalMart will not stand behind the product they sell as well. Both companies should be reprimanded for poor business practices.

We purchased a 37 inches HDTV Vizio in November of 2008. In December of 2009 the TV power died. At first, there was sound, and then after that nothing. We did receive a replacement unit 2 weeks later and it also died after one day. We are having difficulty getting anyone from Vizio or Costco to rectify the situation for us. We want a store credit from Costco to purchase another brand. We do not recommend Vizio.

We bought a Vizio 32-inch HDTV flat screen from Walmart a yr. ago. My mom bought the same one at the same time. We thought we were lucky in our sleek new purchase. Well, a year later, the power keeps turning off and eventually my mom's never came back on. When we turn ours on, it turns off right away. It is funny how Vizio has good reviews at the places where the product is sold. Walmart makes its money and Vizio makes its money but the consumer is left paying hundreds of dollars for a product that lasts a year! Had I known, I would never have purchased this or any Vizio and my faith in Walmart and the electronics it sells is not good either.

I purchased WV32L TV in October of 2007 from Kmart. On December 26, 2008, I was watching TV and all of a sudden, the screen went black. It had sound but no picture. I tried unplugging it several times, nothing. From all the letters I've read from folks about their experiences with Vizio tech support, I'm going to waste my time, so I went to Best Buy and purchased a Samsung HD TV. By the way, the Best Buy I went to does not carry Vizio TVs! Wal-Mart and Kmart need to get Vizio TVs off their shelves. I will tell everyone that asked about TV not to purchase Vizio TV! I had a Magnavox 25 inch TV that lasted 27 years! By the way, I purchased an extended warranty to figure warranty ran out in October of 2009 and TV died in December 2009.

Vizio HD TV started shutting down as soon as we turned it on 12/22/09. We purchased the TV in August 2007 from Sam's Club in Auburn, Washington. Today, 12/23/09, we were watching the TV and we heard a large pop sound and the TV screen went blank but we could still hear the sound. I called Sam's Club and they said that they have never had a problem with Vizio's and if I could find the receipt, they might exchange it. So needless to say, on Christmas Eve, we will probably cart this worthless piece of junk back to Sam's Club and see what happens. Wish me luck! I will keep you posted.

I purchased a Vizio 42" HDTV in July 2006. In April 2009, the TV screen went black. You could still get audio but no picture. I called Vizio, of course the TV was out of warranty, and was told to unplug, wait a bit and plug back in. I did as instructed, and now TV doesn't even have sound. It will come on then click back off a few seconds later; a $1,499.00 piece of worthless junk. Of course now you can buy them cheaper than what I paid 3 years ago, but you would expect it to still work perfectly as it is in a bedroom where it wasn't even used much to begin with. Our 55" RCA is 16 years old and never had the 1st problem with it. This is ridiculous and Vizio will do nothing.

I'm at the beginning stages of what seems to be a prevalent problem! I purchased my 26-inch Vizio late 2007/early 2008 from Walmart and I paid $500. I had read that it was a very good TV, etc. On December 21, 2009, I experienced for the first time my 26-inch Vizio TV not turning on first via the satellite remote and the actual TV remote and then later the TV panel. First, I thought. "Hey, why won't this turn on," and thought it was the satellite remote and decided to try the TV remote and it had the same problem. When I pressed the remote, the amber light would go out like usual but the TV would not actually turn on. Then I could see a faint, dull light on the screen as I pressed the remote(s) continuously but there was nothing.

After experiencing this several times today, I thought, "Oh oh, something's up!" I decided to go online and see if this has been a problem and viola, a site filled w/ pages of complaints of the same problem! I own an old Zenith 27-inch that I've had since 1988 and it is still working! I had to put it in the shop once but only after I owned it for a while and the cost was nominal. While I'm at the very beginnings of this problem, I'm not sure what's to come w/ my experience. This is the first day and I'm out of warranty and, of course, I have not called Vizio yet. I have to wait and see what happens over the next several days. Once this plays out, and I'm so hoping my TV is not a lemon, stay tuned to part two.

We spent $1,400 or more on a 50-inch plasma less than two years ago. We lost the picture so we thought it had to be our cable. The cable guy came and checked it all out. He said the coaxial must be out because we could still use the CD video player. I called some repair shops and they all just laughed. We didn't even have to tell them it was a Vizio. They knew what it was when we told them of the problem and that it was only 2 years old. They said 2 years was about all you could expect from a Vizio. This will be the last Vizio I or anybody I know will get. With a product like that, don't expect the company to be around very much longer.

The subwoofer never connects and I'm always having to reset the damn thing and you're lucky if it even connects. It's not worth the money. Stay with cables in my book. I purchased a Vizio VP322 last Dec. and, in a few weeks, started having problems with it, like I have recently found out that many consumers have, with turning itself off when I tried to turn it on. The last time was 3 days ago, it took 15 attempts to get it to stay on. Now it is on all the time, 24/7. Vizio seems unwilling to help me out. They did offer me a courtesy repair if I could find the receipt. That is what prompted me to research the problem and find out that this is an inherent problem with this TV. I tried to get a copy of the receipt from the Walmart Store where I bought it but because I paid cash and could not pinpoint a date, that was useless. I will never buy another Vizio TV again!

I bought my 42" plasma TV from Walmart on Sept. 26th of 08. I turned it on last week and found a line running straight down the screen about 3/4 of the way over it, on all settings. I called Vizio and they said I didn’t buy the extended warranty. So, I was a soldier. I am disabled with MS and live on SSI. I saved 2 yrs to buy at $750.00 dollars. Walmart won’t even look at me for it’s there where I purchased. There was nothing I did, why should they be able to take advantage of us? I couldn’t afford at the time of purchase, but everyone said digital is coming and your old TV won’t be any good. Is this what we get for buying something the store salesman says will last at least 10 years with no prob.? I know there are things we can’t foresee, but come on.
