    I have now gone through 2 bulbs since I purchased the TV. I saw the class action, and it is too late to file. I am facing another $300 charge. What options do I have?

    Purchased 2/23/04; replaced bulb 12/12/05; replaced bulb 1/10/07. This would mean that the TV would have had to be on 208+ days straight or average over 14 hours per day every day.

    I have a Panasonic TV PT50LC13 and I am on my Third projector bulb. I was just recently made aware that there was a class action law suit that was closed on 11/30/2007. I was too late. I called Panasonic about my problem and they said that they were no longer issuing any replacement bulbs and that I was out of luck unless I wanted to pay for it again. So now I am sitting at home with a useless $3000 TV. I can't keep paying $300 dollar every time when the bulb goes.

    The lamp on our PT-50LC13 TV keeps going out almost every few months and we are now out of warranty for the lamp. We were never notified of any class action law suit against Panasonic. I was merely calling the manufacturer to see if they could help in extending our warranty. This is when I learned of the law suit and that it has been settled and that we do not qualify for an extended warranty. So, if we want to watch TV in the future (because right now it is dead) we will have to pay $300 for it every time it breaks down. Panasonic will not do anything.

    Due to the high price on the lamp, I can no longer watch the TV that I paid slightly more than $4,000.00 for. Since I am not a rich man, my TV sits on my living room floor and I have to look at it every minute I am in my living room. My wife and I waited a long time to buy something this nice and expensive. We are completely in shock and deep despair at the loss of our money and the loss of our TV. I cannot afford to plug in $300.00 every few months for this TV. I can not sell this TV to anyone. I cannot trash this TV. It is so huge (55 inches or so), I cannot put it in any corner of my home! We feel like we have been taken for a ride by a giant corporation who does not care for little people and the bad part is that it is because of us little people, Panasonic got to be a giant!

    I had my TV (pt-60lc14) for three years and had to replace bulb (ty-la1000) which costs $300.00. In the manual it said that the bulb will last 10,000 hours. If I had known that this would happen, I would not have purchase this TV for which I paid over $3,000.

    I have a Panasonic HDTV 1080i purchased 07/2005. I have had to replace the TY-LA1000 bulb 4 times now. First time it was covered under the original manufacturer's warranty. Last 3 times it hasn't been. The lamps average $300 each time.

    I have spent almost $1000 in the last 2 years replacing lamps. I only paid $1800 for the TV brand new.

    We bought this TV in 2004 and had to replace the bulb just about 1 year later, 8/05. Then about 1 year later had to replace another bulb in 2006. Then today the bulb went out again 12/07. I did see the civil suit online in 2006, but it expired 11/07. So now I'm out of luck? I can't get anything for buying a TV and having to replace bulbs every year? It can be anywhere from $200-$400 for a new bulb. I can't believe that Panasonic will still not take any blame for the faulty works of this product. I don't know what causes this problem, but I have been replacing the bulb every year and we only use the TV a couple of hours in the evening Mon-Fri and more on the weekends, but never have we reached the supposed life any of the of the bulbs. We still need Panasonic to step up and handle this problem. What do we do?

    I do have the receipts over the last 2 years and then will soon have another. I believe we paid $350.00 for the 1st and 2nd, and I may be able to find just the bulb this time for about $200 instead of the bulb with the housing. Do you think there will be another suit opened? I don't think that because my 3rd bulb lasted just 29 days pasr the end of the suit that I should now suffer.

    I purchased a Panasonic Model PT-50LC13 television from Best Buy in August of 2003. The first bulb, TYLA 1000, lasted until January of 2007. It is December 28, 2007 and the bulb is out again, another $500.00 parts and labor to fix it. There is no way this bulb should be out by now. I looked on the internet and find a class action suit regarding this bulb issue. We were never notified about a resolution. Why was every owner of the models in question given an option to get reimbursed for their expenses or exchange their problem child?

    It appears that Panasonic was trying to lessen the impact by only taking care of the complainers, instead of dealing with the issue. I want to see if there are any options for me to pursue. I can't afford $500/year to replace a bulb that is having a design issue. I think it was totally unfair and unethical to not give all the owners the same options. Is there anything I can do?

    We have the Panasonic PT-50LC13 LCD TV. The bulb has been out on this TV for about a year. We do not watch TV that much, so the repair of it was not really an issue. In fact we did have a service person come out to take a look at the TV and said it was the bulb and that the repair would cost $600.00. We decided that this was too much to afford at the time and decided to wait. I was surfing the internet today looking for prices for this bulb when I came across this link regarding a class action that was filed against Panasonic for problems people have been having with this TV and bulb.

    Apparently a settlement was reached where Panasonic would replace the bulb or refund people who have already paid to have this replaced. However, the settlement claim filing period ended on Nov. 30, 2007, even though we were never notified or were aware of this settlement. Even the service man never mentioned a settlement regarding this TV. When we contacted Panasonic they refused to even consider to honor their settlement and basically said tough.

    As a result of this faulty lamp, it is going to cost us around $600.00 to repair a $1,200 TV. Since we never knew of the settlement and were never notified by Panasonic, how can we be included in the settlement?

    We purchased a Panasonic PT-50 TV about three years ago, and the bulb has just burned out for the third time. the TV cost about $2,500 and each bulb is about $300. Replacing the bulb every year significantly raises the cost of owning this TV, and we are terrible disappointed in the product and Panasonic in general. We've heard there was a class action suit and registered for it but never received any notice of the Nov 30, 2007 deadline. What can we do?

    The result is that purchasing this TV is costing us about $300 each year to own. This is completely unacceptable, and Panasonic needs to stand my their products. Can we get this more into the public eye to try to make Panasonic wake up?

    I have had two blown lamps since purchasing the TV in 2005. The first was replaced by warranty and the second was to be covered by the court action. I requested and turned in all paperwork and have received notice that they will not honor the requirements of the court decision.

    I have had to replace the bulb twice although hours on the TV are just over 5000. I'm out the cost of bulb, installation and transport.

    We bought the Panasonic PT-50LC13 television in July 2004. The first lamp exploded in May 2005 and was replaced under warranty. The second lamp exploded in June 2006, which Panasonic agreed to replace under warranty since it was just past the 1 year warranty period. The Panasonic representative said they would look into our TV being a possible lemon if the lamp exploded again. Hmmmm! Well, it is early December 2007 and the third lamp just exploded. I called Panasonic and they wouldn't talk to me because of this class-action lawsuit. We have never been notified about this suit or recall.

    Panasonic has failed in our eyes to notify consumers about problems. They have our contact information and know the history of our TV. We can't believe we are stuck with a television that we have to keep replacing lamps. Why should we have to do that? We now have a TV that we don't know what to do with. We paid $2000 initially and now face the realization we're going to shell out more just because Panasonic did not diligently notify consumers.

    I currently own a non-working Panasonic 50 LCD HD PTV model PT-50LC13. For the past year I have spent so much time in submitting the claim form to the Garden City Group, Inc (the claim administrator for Panasonic class action law suit) because my TV have not been working for the past year and a half. In the settlement form, it states, if the TV experiences 3 or more performance problems then I might be able to get a replacement of my defected TV. So for the whole time, I keep waiting for the City Garden Group to respond to my claim. I did not even bother to call Panasonic to come and fix my TV. I left it unfixed, hoping that I might be able to get a replacement for this defected $3000 TV that we purchased in 2004.

    Just recently, I contacted the City Garden Group, because I know the deadline is November 30, 2007. The Garden City finally replied to me via email stated that they could not help me with my claim because I have only two documents (invoices) for the lamp replacement and one invoice for the tuner block replacement, therefore, I am not qualify for the replacement of my TV, and there is nothing they could help me with. I felt extremely hopeless. I could not believe I went through so much for this TV and now it is still not working. Please help me out. I am not sure who I should contact to get my TV fix. I went online recently, I found that there are so many people with the same problems as I do through this website. I vow never to buy another product from Panasonic again evertime I look at my 50 non-working TV in my family room.

    Our 50" Panasonic PT50LC13 TV was purchased new through Nice Electronics on June 27, 2004. Since then, our lamp has burned out, red and blue dots constantly appear on the screen and most recently, the lamp light has started blinking again. However, the warranty company is stating that it may not be the lamp. We had the lamp replaced once--well before the 10,000 hours--and requested repairs to remove the blue and red dots. We were told there weren't enough dots to have that issue addressed yet, and that it was an engine problem.

    Only 7 months later after having the lamp replaced, the TV is not coming on again. Again, well with-in 10,000 hours of viewing. We now have about 7 dots appearing on the screen, but the warranty company is still stating it can't be fixed. In addition, it will cost $300 to have the lamp replaced, which is the only way for them to determine if that is the current problem. If not, we may incur more dept to fix the actual problem. When researching online, I saw that my model was involved in a class action law suite, and was hoping to get some assistance.

    The bulb! I have read the other complaints and I cannot believe that Panasonic, a company as big as they are, is not willing to back their product. What are people to do when the product fails, when they purchased products based on reputation of name of company? Panasonic's customer service department actually had me dismantling the television to try to find the problem. Oh no. Stopped after I was asked to get a screwdriver.

    What are we consumers supposed to do? $300.00 for a bulb, $80.00 to have the tech come out, labor is unknown at this time since bulb is not in stock. We have only had the television for 15 months. I would not recommend Panasonic to anyone. Who can afford to replace bulbs every year? Not sure of final costs since labor is not included in phone estimate. Not sure if even able to afford to have repairs done. We are still waiting for estimate.

    My Panasonic PT-50LC13 TV has numerous problems. I've replaced the lamp 4 times in 4 years. I ran out of the extended warranty and when I called Panasonic, they said I missed the Nov. 30, 2007 deadline for the class action law suit. Nobody notified me. This lamp supposedly lasts for 5000 hours on average. But they lasted less than 1000 hours each.

    It costs about $300 to replace the lamp.

    I own a Panasonic PT-61LCX65 TV and the bulb just popped one night, no warning. We had the TV for 2 years, so of course the warranty was out. I'd say there was maybe 3000 hours, and that's being very gracious, so no where near what they told me when we bought it. It takes the Ty-LA1000 bulb that was in the other class action suits.

    I have burned out three lamps in three years. The first lamp was covered under waranty, but it took several weeks to get the television fixed. The other lamp was purchased by me. The television now has a burned out lamp and has been sitting on the dining room floor for about two months.

    I am now watching a 20 non-HD TV waiting for Panasonic or the court system to settle the case. I am still paying for HD service. I would like a determination as to whether the lamp is going to be replaced or I will be compensated for the trouble I've had with the set.

    Lamp burned for the 3rd time in 3.5 years on Panasonic PT-50LC13 Projection Television. Turns out there was a class action suit, but I never received notice of this. When I found out today (Dec 7, 2007) I called Panasonic and they simply said too bad, you missed the deadline.

    Have had to replace 3 lamps at a cost of roughly $300 each.

    I purchased a 42 inch Plasma TV in September, 2007, and in November the TV started giving us problems. We contacted Panasonic right away (11/14), but I am still waiting for a response on Dec. 7. We've put in new electric in the house, new satellite dish wiring, and I've lost time at work trying to resolve this.

    As part of class action law suit againts the defective lamps in the Panasonic LCD TV my TV PT61-LCX65 was not listed, but I just spent $480 on repairs to my lamp. Also included in my repairs was a power supply and the imaging unit is also damaged which the repair shop has quoted my a price of $1500 to repair. After speaking to Panasonic customer care they said sorry you are three days late and there is nothing they will do about the imaging unit. I purchased the TV November 2005, two months after I evacuated from my sunken home in New Orleans.

    I am out the purchase price of my TV and the repair cost that I have payed for up to this point since the imaging unit is burned out.

    Today, My Panasonic Model #PV-M2035
    fell to the floor as I lifted it, and shattered. I went on-line to search this item and discovered that there had been a previous recall with some personal injuries awhile back. The described issue regarding the recall was exactly what happened to me. I called Panasonic and they responded by saying recall notices were mailed and that because the Model is over 10 years old, it is considered worthless and to throw away the pieces. I never received any recall notices and have been at my current address for over 20 years.

    Our TV is just 2 years old and not used as much as most and the lamp light has burned out once already. Then llast night, November 24, 2007, it burned out again. No place was open due to the holiday weekend and when my neighbor came over they told me that their parent's TV had done the same thing several times and that there was a recall. So I decided to check into it. Now here I am and my model # PT-44LCX65 is not one of the 4 to be replaced. What should I do?

    This is an update. I now am on my fourth lamp for this Panasonic TV in 3 years, and the TV repairman tells me that the reason the lamps go so quickly is that my Light Engine or Ballast has been bad: $1500 to repair. How long has it been bad? My first lamp blew way before the 10,000 hours that both the Best Buy salesman and the users manual tell me they should last. Doesnt that mean my light engine was bad under warranty?

    I suppose spending $3,000 with a company no longer engenders any sort of loyalty back to the customer. And making a shoddy product and passing the buck to me is the way to go for Panasonic. Why weren't any of the stated models covered in the class action lawsuit? My television is having the exact same problems and has the exact same lamp.

    I feel ripped off. I have had no end of trouble from this product and wouldnt be completely happy without a total refund; but a working TV for a year or more would suffice. I would love to speak to an attorney about this.

    I purchased a panasonic widescreen lcd projection screeen TV (model pt60 lc 14)in late 2005. I have had to replace the lamp three times in that time even though the lamp states it is supposed to last 10,000 hours. Since i purchased this TV (for 3,000$) it has cost me well over 1,000$ to keep it running.

    We had the TV bulb replaced twice under Panasonic's one-year warranty and at least 4 more times under Sears extended warranty. Now its out again; Sears is giving me a runaround saying it was just replaced in July, and they can't order another bulb. I'm very disgusted, could use some help, paid $2700 for the TV and $400 (twice) for extended warranties.

    I have a Panasonic LCD TV that I have purchased 2 bulbs in a period of 3 years and now the 3rd bulb has just blown. I feel this is becoming excessive at $300.00 each. It is going to cost me close to $1,000 in total for bulb replacements.

    Bulbs not lasting even 1 year for a TV we use 2-4 hours a day. We are using it less than 2500 hours a year and the bulbs explode.

    We have a PANASONIC LCD TV - #PT-45LC12. Why is this the ONLY one that is NOT included within the class action law suit? We have to buy a bulb for this tv at least once per year - unacceptable after paying over $4,000 for the TV! Please let me know where I do from here about getting a complaint filed.


    The bulbs cost $300 each and shipping is usually around $50.

    I purchased a Panasonic PT-60LC14 television on October 27, 2005. The bulb burned out on July 23, 2007. We have an extended warranty but it will not cover the bulb. The bulb costs $302.00. This is the same problem that Panasonic settled a class action law suit in 2006 on 4 other models.

    Received a Panasonic PT-60LC14 as a Father's Day gift purchased 6/18/05. The lamp TY-LA1000 blew in less than a year. As the tv was still under warranty Panasonic replaced the lamp on 5/31/06. The lamp blew again 6/24/07, just after Father's Day and just past Panasonic's 1 year warranty on replacement lamps. I was charged $284. plus shipping for a replacement lamp.

    I purchased a Panasonic TV Model# PT-52LCX65 from a Military Exchange in Okinawa Japan on February 15 2006. As soon as the warranty ran down, a red spot about the size of a baseball appeared in the right upper corner of the screen. I have contacted Panasonic and they said I would pay to send it in, labor + parts.

    The lamp in my Panasonic PT-50LC13 television burned out. I purchased it in March of 2004 and believe that I am outside the warranty period. I believe Panasonic should replace all the faulty lamps regardless of when they were purchased.

    The bulb in this television just burned out for the fourth time since we purchased this in November, 2003. We got this Rear Projection LCD at Best Buy along with their 4-year Performance Service Plan. After the third bulb death they informed us of their Lemon Law and we felt somewhat relieved knowing that at least we would get some kind of reimbursement for our investment.

    Now we're hearing that Best Buy may not honor their lemon law pledge because in talking with Panasonic it's been determined that it's not a defect with the TV but rather a normal wear and tear, regular maintenance issue and that it's the same as changing the oil in your car. Since it's not a defect, the lemon law will not apply and that it should just be repaired again!

    I bought a TV model # PT-50LC13 about 2 1/2 years ago. My lamp light is now flashing and the screen doesn't show any picture at all. For only haveing this TV for the 2 1/2 years I believe it should've lasted a bit longer than this.


    No picture is being shown by the TV. Lamp light on front is flashing while Power light is also flashing RED.

    We purchased a Panasonic Multi-Media Projection Display Model #PT-45LC12 in February of 2003. To date we have had to replace 3 lamps and 2 ballasts (one set was replaced within the first month after we purchased the television set). It is no surprise that our television set is down again and has been down for over 6 months. The lamps did not work the amount of hours they stated they would, and now we are being told by Panasonic representatives that they no longer make the ballast we need for our television set.

    I bought my Panasonic 60 inch LCD screen TV not even 1 year ago and I have already had to purchase a lamp for it. I have a friend who also purchased one a few months before me and her 50 inch LCD screen TV is also needing a lamp. We both live on a military base outside a small town and we have found out that the lamps run us around $250.

    I purchased a Panasonic TV model PT45LC12 in 2005 and since then I have replaced the bulb (TY-LA1500) 3 times at the cost of over $300 each time. Now the TV set has been sitting in my living room for the past 4 months because the Ballast is bad and none of the TV repair shops in my town would even touch it. I have checked with other repair shops in surrounding towns and only one told me that they can get the Ballast for $369 however after doing the repair the total would be over $900.

    The technician himself told me that would be stupid because not only this would happen again but these days with the price of electronics coming down daily I would be better off buying another brand of TV. He even mentioned that he would not even buy Plasma TV because every few years the gases in it (Neon and Xenon) have to be replaced, he said buy the biggest tube TV you can find since you can run it for 24 hours daily for the next 20 years and still have no problem.

    The Ballast in my unit has a Ceramic Thermal Fuse (250V 5A 115° C) that can not be purchased anywhere and if replaced the picture will come on for 15 minutes and the fuse will be blown again, therefore something in the Ballast is making it run too hot.

    Purchased Panasonic SC HT800V new 1/25/2007. Unit failed within one week. Took it to York Electronic Services (YES) in York, PA 2/06/2007. YES and Panasonic say it is not repairable. The warranty provides for repair or replacement. Panasonic refused to do either, instead offering a small refund check. I got the unit on a great deal, but paid $46 shipping. No shipping refund offered. I want the unit repaired or replaced. I do not care if it is out of production. I bought it in good faith.

    I have a Panasonic LCD TV Model Number PT-50LCX63 and am going on my third bulb. The second bulb I got didn’t even come close to lasting the 10000 hours that Panasonic says it should. My wife is ready to put the TV to the curb and go back to the old tube style TV because you don't need to spend $300 every six months or so.

    I bought the Panasonic PT40LC12 projection tv and have to have at least 5 bulbs replaced - thankfully I bought the 4yr warranty - but it is about to expire - and I know that the lamps will only last about 1/5 the time they are supposed to last and at $300 plus I can't afford that.


    Just having to replace expensive lamps about every 6 to 8 months at $300 plus ( I don't pay) covered under a warranty that will expire in 2 months.

    We bought a Panasonic HD TV in December of 2005 for about $2800. About 10 months after we had the TV, it would go blank off and on when watching cable TV. I called Panasonic and was told to contact the cable company because their box was bad. I returned the box and got a new one but weeks later had the same problem. I returned the other box and went through the process again. Then, I figured out that it was probably not the box but the TV. By then, we were out of the warranty period.

    First the ballast goes out but luckily the extended warranty covers that. No television for 2 weeks waiting on part to be delivered, then finally receive TV back and 2 months later the bulb blows out. It’s still under manufacturers 18 month warranty but they will not issue a replacement lamp until first you fax them a copy of original receipt even though it is registered with them and then have to use a credit card in case you don’t return defective part. This is definitely my last purchase with Panasonic until they can remedy their customer service and stand behind their 10000 hr bulb policy.

    We purchased a Panasonic Multimedia Projection TV, model #PT-43LC14 in April 2004 at Circuit City in Syracuse, NY. The lamp unit burnt out recently, and we had no idea what was wrong with our TV. It was not communicated to us when we purchased the TV that this would happen and that the lifespan of the lamp was a short period of time. We would not have purchased the TV, had we known of this added costly, annual expense.

    In addition, the owners manual for this TV indicates that a warning light should display indicating that the lamp needs to be replaced. This did not occur on our TV.

    I have a Panasonic model PT-50LC14 LCD television that uses the TY-LA1000 bulb. The TV was purchased two years ago, but is at a summer home and has less than one months usage on it. The bulb has shattered during normal operation. I informed Panasonic of this and was informed that my TV was not under warrenty and not covered by the class action lawsuit and that I would need to purchase a new bulb. I do not feel that a TV with such minimal usage should experience these problems.

    We purchased a Panasonic LCD in 2004 and up to date have replaced the lamp for the 3rd time. Each time the part alone cost approx. $300.00 + tax and shipping. THe first two times we had to hire a repair person to inform us of the problem and I paid over $500.00. I have the receipts for all these transactions.     I purchased a 40 Panasonic LCD, model number PT40LC12, on 4/26/03. Since that time period, I'm on my 3rd lamp and now the ballast is bad. I called Panasonic and was told there was nothing they can do.     My PT-43lc14 HDTV is experiencing the same problems with the ty-la1000 bulb as the larger models have.Am I the only one in this boat. I was upset when I heard panasonic agreed only to cater to customers with the larger models.I have owned this tv since 12/11/04, the first bulb failed in April of 05' and the second in january of 07'. I could not be more disappointed in this product. I believe panasonic is a good company but needs to realize that this product has failed.     My wife and I purchased a Panasonic TV Model#PT50LC13 at Best Buy 6/14/04. We also purchased a 4 year extended warranty with our TV. We had the TV for about a year and the lamp blew out. We got bounced around to different departments and finally after complaining enough we got the lamp replaced. Now it has maybe been a year and a half later and the lamp is out again. I was bounced around today on the phone for about an hour and a half and no one wants to replace the lamp unit. I should say they will replace it for about $300.00.

    Purchased a PT-50LC13 from Circuit City in Sept. of 2003. About a year and a half later the lamp in the TV burned out. I purchased a replacement and it worked fine until two weeks ago. The bulb burned out again. I purchased a new bulb and put it in and it works occasionally, when it does work it takes about 2 minutes to light. The bulbs cost about $550.00.

    I purchased a Panasonic TV, since purchase I’ve replaced the lamp three times and have had a repair person sent by Panasonic out to repair my TV. My lamp went out again and when I called Panasonic they told me about a settlement offer. I received an application after 3 weeks of leaving my information on the phone number given and sent it out. I asked if it was possible to exchange my lamp since I have been without a TV since December. I was informed that since I was involved in the class action settlement that i would have to purchase one.

    Lamp keeps burning out on my 50 inch Panasonic DLP TV. Purchased it in May 2004 and had to purchase a new lamp in June 2005. Lamp burned out again in June 2006 (Was replaced by warranty).     After participating in the Class Action Lawsuit we are now stuck in limbo - Panasonic accepted our claim and has agreed to replace our TV (Multiple-Failure Remedy), but we have not been contacted and we are now two weeks past the typical 30 Day window as mentioned by Garden City Group in which Panasonic supposedly sets up replacement/removal with consumer.

    We have contacted Garden City group numerous times and they are trying to assist us, but ultimately the ball is in Panasonic's court and we cannot locate the responsible party to discuss with at Panasonic. This has been going on since we purchased the TV in 2004! The lawsuit portion has been going on since October 2006 when our TV's lamp blew-up for the third time.

    How do we get our replacement tv promised under the Multiple Failure Remedy? So much for process we have followed as consumers. We are out $2400 and a TV until someone at Panasonic wants to become responsible to the consumer.

    I bought a Panasonic Pt-50dl54. Shortly after a year, the red lamp light would blink and the TV set shut down. I called Panasonic and they told me the lamp needed to be replaced. I ordered a brand new lamp, installed it according to their instructions, and the TV wouldn't turn on. The power light would turn on (green blinking) then about 20 seconds later the power light turned red and blinked without any picture or even the screen lighting up. I spent three hundred dollars purchasing a new lamp. Not to mention the loss time of use of this set.

    PT-50LC14 Bought 29 months ago, about 2500 hours on bulb. TV no longer comes on. Based on other complaints it looks like we've been lucky to have it work that long! The life of the bulb is stated to be 10,000 hours. We paid $2700 for the TV. I'm not even sure what is wrong with it (bulb vs ballast) but given the cost estimates to repair $300 for bulb, $700 for ballast, plus service repair charge $???, and the likelihood of bulb failure (and additional $300 a pop) I don't plan to even check- I'll just plan on buying a new plasma screen for less than $2000-and it won't be a Panasonic!

    A TV that cost me about $1200 per year to watch. Seems like a rip-off to me. I am aware of class action suits for other Panasonic models, there should be one for this model too

    In the two years that I have had my Panasonic PT-50LC13 TV, I have had to replace two bulbs and had a bad ballast board. The rep told me that Panasonic no longer manufactured the ballast board, so he would have to send it back to the factory to be reworked though it was doubtful if it would be a long-term fix. I now seem to have a very large paperweight!

    We purchased our Panasonic 45 inch LCD perjection TV at Ultimate Electronics in November 2004. Since our perchase we've replaced two bulbs and Febuary '06 we were told our light engine need to be replaced. Within three months antoher bulb went out.

    My wife and I purchased the Panasonic plasma TV (TH50PX60U) for $1709 (incl tax, installation and wall mount) on Friday 24 Nov. We purchased this tv, rather than a similar Toshiba model at Besy Buy (a savings of $1300 over regular price), because of the apparent price advantage. We were informed by the store manger, Eric, on 26 Nov that there was a screw up and that Circuit City could not sell us the tv for the price I paid, and the price and I have on my receipt. Apparently someone at Circuit City Corp made a mistake in allowing this price. The manager, Eric, whom I do not hold at fault, has offered several replacements, though they are either significantly more expensive or less capable and smaller TVs.

    Missed opportunity to purchase alternative TVs at other stores since we had purchased the TV at Circuit City. We'll have to wait months for the price to drop to the same sales price.

    I purchased a panasonic pt-50lc13 on Dec 14, 2004, in November of 2005 bad pixels started to show, took it for warranty and panasonic fixed for free, later on January, 2006 Lamp went bad, tv was out of warranty I purchased a lamp for 375.00, it worked fined untill April, 2006, then Ballaster went bad had it change, after ballaster was changed the technician said that the lamp was bad also. Since then I have the TV sitting on the living room, since I am out of money to keep buying lamps.

    I have a Panasonic PT-45LC12 Projection TV and have had constant problems with the TY-LA1500 projection bulb burning out. I have had the set for 3 years andhave just burned out my 4th projection bulb. The cost of the bulb is is approximately $250 which means when I buy this one, I will have spent about $750 for replacemnt bulbs. I do see where Panasonic has recently setteled a Class Action involving their PT-50LC and PT-55LC type projection TV's that use TY-LA1000 projection bulbs.

    On January 19, 2004 I purchased a 50 panasonic LCD TV Model #PT50LC13 from ABT, approximately 6 months ago the pictures flashed a few times and turned black. I called ABT they said it was probably the bulb. It would be a $179.00 service charge to come out and about $300.00 for the bulb. I could not understand how such an expensive T.V. could now start costing me additional money. I paid $2686.00 for the T.V. I recently learned that I am not alone.

    I have a Panasonic 52 LCD Television and have had for 1 year. This is the second bulb and one ballast I have had to put in this television. This is becoming a very expensive venture! When I read on-line the amount of people who are having the same problem it appears this is a product warranty malfunction. I would suggest that Panasonic does something about this immediately. I have over $1000 in repairs, which is half what I paid for the television in the beginning.

    I called to get a replacement lamp for my Panasonic PT-50LC13 LCD TV that I purchased 2-1/2 years ago. The TV just went out and a light is blinking red on the lamp light. She said that the lamp has a 1 year or 10,000 hour lamp life. I told to to repeat that again, and she did. I said there is no way I have had the tv on that long, since it's in our living room, and is not used a great deal. She said it would be $284 plus shipping and handling to get a new lamp. I told her I wasn't interested, and that I will look for it elsewhere.

    My parents also had their lamp go out within 2 years. They have a model that isn't under the law suit, so they'll have to pay around $300 every two years...That's $1,500 over 10 years...not a good buy is it?

    I am on my fourth bulb for my TV, the last one only lasted 7 days. When I called Panasonic to get another they refused. I now have to buy one aftermarket so that I can at least have a TV. I understand that there is an ongoing settlement ref. these TVs, even so I should be allowed to get another bulb. I'm sure the settlement will take some time and now I'm without a bulb.     I am having the same issues with my Panasonic PT-50LC13 as other consumers. My television has very little life on it considering it was in storage in the original packaging for almost two years. I watch very little TV. My Television went out two days ago and it seems not to be the buld but the balast is the problem and why the bulds go out. I am not sure if the extended warranty is going to take care of this issue for me. I spoke with Panisonic yesterday and upon determining that the bulb was not bad they asked me to call a authorized service repair person in my area. They did not offer to cover the charges. Is this not what the extended warranty should cover?

    Bulb went out in tv model # PT 60LCX64, after 15 months...they will replace with new but they knew about this problem from prior complaints. I think they were uncooperative and even charged me to ship the replacement bulb that they knew was defective. next one is one me for 300.00. I just had a Sony tv break after I've had it for 25 years.

    Future cost will be 300.00 plus each time it goes out. This could be every year. I spent almost 3000.00 for this tv. Last panasonic in my home.

    I purchased a Panasonic LCD projection TV from Circuit City in June of 2004 and was told the bulb would last 10,000 hours.     Bulb life not as stated in manual. Not 10,000 hours as Panasonic claims. Replaced 1/3/06 bulb blew 5/29/06. This is definatly not 10,000 hours of use and surely not worth 300.00 for a new TV. First bulb lasted about 1.5 years still not the 10,000 hours but I replaced it without complaining.     In October 2004 I purchased a Panasonic LCD 50 televison from Best Buy, model PT50LC13. Soon after their in-store return deadline, the bulb blew out. Best Buy management said they would do nothing since I has not purchased their extended warranty. The sales people never said anything about potential early bulb burnout, or that a new lamp would cost $300 to replace. Had I been informed of this, I would never have bought the set. Anyway, we dealt with the manufacturer who replaced the bulb. It didn't work still, and the serviceman found that the ballast had blown also.

    After 2 more weeks of waiting, it was replaced and worked. A few months later, the bulb went out again. Fortunately, we were just under the warranty expiration, and even though they balked, Panasonic replaced the bulb. The service company had to be the ones to install it, which they did, and all seemed well again. The bulb blew again a few months later, and I calculated that I got almost 8,000 hours out of it. I found a factory bulb on the internet from a reputable dealer, and replaced it myself. It lasted almost 5 minutes. The dealer warranteed the bulb, and sent me a replacement.

    We had the TV working maybe 3 weeks when the picture started flickering. I was informed by service people that I had to replace the ballast again at a cost of about $700. Enough is enough. I went to Costco and bought a plasma for $700 less than the LCD, and it's gauranteed. If it goes out, Costco will refund my money. That beats all of the other so-called warranties. I'll never go to a projection TV again.

Set repaired and 3rd problem occured 8 months later. The set has been down longer than it has worked. Panasonic negeleted known problem and failed to replace, exchange or refund for almost 2 years.

    50 inch TV is still in my living room taking up space still broken. I am deeply depressed and dispointented w/Panasonic.

    Purchased a Panasonic projector model # PT-AE700U, used with careful operation for less than 800 hours and the bulb blew out. Called projector people.com which is where I bought it and basically they told me to "contact panasonic." Am doing so when I get off work but it looks bleak now that I've found so many others with unresolved problems....now I feel like I spent $2k on a shoebox with a busted light in it. thanks panasonic.

    I, like thousands of other consumers, have purchased a Panasonic LCD/rear-projection television (PT-60LC13) and was advised by Panasonic that the lamp life in the set was 10,000 after only 18 months the lamp has exploded and costs $300 to replace. The life was nowhere near 10,000 more like 1,200 hours. If Panasonic had been honest and not deceptive in the product literature I am certain that myself and thousands like me would not have purchased this TV. No One in their right mind is going to spend $300 per year to replace a lamp in a television.

    Based on thousands of complaints that I have read on-line this is far from an isolated incident this is flat out theft. I would never be able to lie about a product just to sell it and this is exactly what Panasonic has done. Here is an on-line petition that lists over 2400 people who have had the exact same problem.

    Purchased the pt-50lc13 tv in Jan - 04 for my basement. I rarely use the TV except for about an hour a day. The TV was no longer working. The company told me I need a new Lamp. 2 complaints 1st is obvious...why is the lamp burning out so fast when the company said it has a life of 10000 hours. now I have to pay $300. to replace 2nd - They told me if I order a new lamp and that doesn't fix the problem, they won't allow me to return it for a refund. This is just outrageous... needless to say, I will never buy from Panasonic again.

    Panasonic LCD projection TV PT-50LC13. Bulb defect. I'm just adding my name to the number of people complaining about these bulbs. Panasonic rates them at 10,000 hours but in my case both lasted about 1000 hours. They then charge $300 for a replacement bulb. The product is obviously defective. I and others have notifed Panasonic about this.

    $300 per year at this rate to keep replacing a defective product.

    We purchased a 37" Panasonic Plasma TV last year for Christmas, right after one year the TV broke. We called Panasonic and they honored the warranty to fix it for free since it was only a few weeks past a year. The TV went to the repair shop and was there for over two weeks after much aggravation we finally get the tv back only to find it is worse, now the tv is totally dead. We call Panasonic and we all agreed that the tv is a lemon and we would get a newer model.

    We were offered a 37" for an additional $600.00 and a 42" for an additional $900.00. We decided to go for the 42". We sign the contract and gave our credit card information, our card was charged $900.00 over two weeks ago and we have not heard from Panasonic since, despite numerous phone calls and emails to 3 (yes 3) different people!

    Panasonic needs to reimburse us our money for all this aggravation, the fact still remains we originally paid over $2,000.00 for a tv that lasted only a year and now we have been without a tv for over 2 months and gave them an additional $900.00 and paying interest on this. We want our new 42" tv delivered and want our credit card remibursed for all the aggravation during the past two months.

    I purchased pt-50lc13 TV in July of 2005 and bulb is already gone (April of2006). Panasonic should be responsible for replacing this bulb. I can't belive they are getting away with such ripoff. I paid $2700.00 and I have to buy bulb for $300.00, which might lest next 3-4 months. What next? Should I buy one more, and another and another.......This is good business for Panasonic.

I have contacted the Consumer Complaint dept at Panasonic with no success. I have cpious documentation re: this from panasonic and their local service people. I would love to talk to an attorney to see f I qualify for some kind of "lemon law"

    I have replaced the bulbs and light gun under warranty, however am out about $500 in service calls and without a TV for 3 months. I currently have to fight for a new lamp.

    This TV states in the manual the bulb life is 10,000 hours. We have replaced the bulb THREE times already, far far less then 10,000 hours. When the bulb blows - which has been on Sundays, once just before the SuperBowl - I have scoured stores to find a replacement and no one carries it. This is a defective part, and the TV is extremely expensive to have to replace this bulb so often. I have read all the other accounts and my situation has been the same - There should be a recall on this part. I had the ballast replaced because they said it was defective - but another bulb blew soon after. I want free bulbs! I love the quality of the TV, but I will never buy a Panasonic anything (I have a digital camera too) again if this is not resolved.

    On May 28,2004 I bought a Panasonic 50" LCD TV PT50LC13. ON 2/1/2005 the ballast had to be replaced. It was still under warranty so there was no charge. Because I had a problem so soon, I bought Panasonic Customer Care plan for $469.95 for 2 years. On 9/3/2005 my bulb blew out. When I called the authorized repair shop the said the bulb was not covered by the plan I had, and that I would have to pay $300 for the bulb. I was not aware that my plan didn't cover the bulb.

    When go online and look at the FAQ's for the plan it says: "What does a Panasonic Customer Care Plan cover? The Plan covers labor and all replacement parts for keeping your product in good operating condition." Is not the bulb essential for the operation of the TV? Since the set was a little over a year old Panasonic did extend my basic warranty 6 months and didn't charge me for the bulb. Both times my TV was out of commission for 5 or 6 days.

    On Sunday 2/5/2006 I was going to have a small Super Bowl party at my house because I had the 50" TV. About about 1 hour before the Super Bowl my TV went out again. We hurriedly moved the Party to a friend's house. The repair man is scheduled to come Thursday. Again I had to wait 5 days. This is the first TV I've ever had that failed this often. Some have lasted more than 10 years without a problem. I feel that Panasonic should extend the warranty for at least 5 years. Even that would not make up for the days of lost availability of the TV. I would never buy or recommend another Panasonic product. As I read through the other complaints on consumeraffairs.com I feel these defects my be worth a class action suit.

    I purchased a Panasonic PT47WX53 in December of 2003. In November of 2005 the Television died. It has been in a Panasonic repair facility for well over a month. I am being told that the television can not be repaired due to parts being discontinued. I find this unacceptable for a purchase of over $1500.00. If this were a $200.00 TV I would throw it away and buy another. However I do not have $1500.00 to buy a new TV every 20 months. I can not believe that spare parts are no longer available for such a new product.

    About 3 and half years my father bought a widescreen 32" panasonic tv for our home. The tv was working fine until recently when the tv started playing up. TV would automatically go on standby mode -- even worse the screen would change colour, either it goes too bright or too dark. After trying numerous times to change the picture setting the same problem continued happening. I called panasonic at the Slough customer service.

    For 30 minutes I was on the phone, the lady didnt have a clue who to refer me to, so she refered to retailers. After 35 minutes my call ended up in one of the retailers in the high street who said i will be £95 to get a engineer..an expensive equiry call, but I did not go ahead. Within 2 days later I called out two tv engineers recommende dby some friends -- both engineer said the "bulb" which is located behind the screen is about to go and a replacement cost would be about £250/£350.

    I was also told that problem is very common with panasonic tv's and actual fact the "bulb" should last at least 7/9 years.

    I own a Panasonic PT50LC13 LCD projection TV purchased in approx May 2004. The lamp failed after approx 3-4 weeks and at that time they were out of stock everywhere because of what Panasonic stated was high failure rates. I received a temp replacement directly from Panasonic after a couple of days and the permanent replacement after several weeks. When discussing this failure with a manager at Panasonic Headquarters he indicated that these bulbs had been failing at a higher rate, and well in advance of the expected lifespan, and it appeared they had an issue.

    Well, I just experienced a second failure after only 17 months and it looks as if Panasonic has done nothing to correct the issues with this lamp. I have read numerous complaints on the Internet on this same issue and it seems the normal life span on the lamp is half or less than stated in the owners manual. People are indicating failure at anywhere from 1000 to 5000 hours, as opposed to the "up to 10,000 hours" stated by Panasonic. I feel it is time someone should address this issue with Panasonic and force them into making good to the consumer.

    We purchased a Panasonic LCD TV (Model number PT50LC13) June 13th, 2004. The bulb blew out on August 10th 2004. The whole scenario to get the bulb replaced took over 2 weeks. Within those 2 weeks a seviceman stopped out to look at the tv with no replacement bulb. Another service man called to come out and repir, still had no bulb. When the seviceman stopped out (around Aug. 24th) he knew we were unhappy and replaced the bulb in the tv and left us a spare.

    In May 2005 another bulb blew, we replaced it with the additional bulb from the service man. Today Dec.12th 2005 the bulb blew again. Now we don't have any replacement bulbs, we have to buy one and I believe they are around$300. So from 6-12-04 to 12-12-2005, approx. one and a half years there have been 3 blown bulbs. My wife and I both work and watch at the most 4 hours of tv and evening and are very aware about leaving the tv on when not in use. I am writing this letter both to make my complaint in ink and hoping this may help someone before they purchase a Panasonic LCD. Also my son has a Sony LCD and he purchase it soon after we bought our Panasonic. He has gone through 1 bulb, versus our 3 in the approx. same time period.

    I can just repeat almost the same complaint as below by Mary of Ellerslie, GA (9/18/05) and others: I purchased a Panasonic PT-50LC13 TV on December 21, 2003. The original lamp TY-LA1000 failed on October 28, 2004 and the second one on November 18, 2005, two lamps in less than two years and Panasonic does not except warranty claim. They lamp sell the lamp for $300, even though it looks like a very primitive and cheep prototype. If it is a consumable part, it should be priced at $30 instead. There are rumors, which I cannot prove, that Panasonic is involved in refurbishing original lamps and giving them as replacement within warranty, without notifying customers about that.

    I still have the last failed lamp and I am thinking of investigating if it is really a genuine part or a refurbished clone.

    About 2 months ago I contacted Panasonic b/c the new television I bought no longer had sound. I went to one of the only 4 shops in the area to service their productions on their recommendation. Please keep in mind you must usually wait 20 mins or more after you have finally gotten the voice activated person to actually put you through. So we contacted the repair shop whom I will be filing a separate complaint for Strauss Photo Technical Services and they came and picked up our television (Sept 19th).

    We waited a long time to get back in touch with Panasonic because it is truly 20 mins to 1hr on hold when you call them to get through to an actual person that doesn't count the 5-10mins it takes to get through their system. I am now told everytime I call Panasonic someone will call me back with details after they have contacted the repair shop, and of course no one calls back. Nor can you speak to anyone directly in the warranty department. They won't transfer you, they don't have managers you are just told someone will call you back. I hold Panasonic personally responsible for by TV since it is one of their "authorized repair shops" that my TV has been sitting in for the last 2 months. I don't know what can be done to get my televison back repaired or get a new one but I think I have been more than patient considering it has been in the repair shop longer than it was in my house.

    Bought a Panasonic LCD TV (model #PT50LC13) from 'Rex's' for 2500.00 on 7/14/04. As of 11/11/05 it no longer works. The $300.00 bulb burned out with about 2400 hours on it (not the 10,000 stated). We bought this Television with a 3 yr extended warrenty from Rex's - but of course it doesn't cover the $300.00 bulb (though the salesman told us it did). Rex's closed their store here in Columbia, TN - so now we are out 199.99 for a useless warranty and another $300.00 for a bulb that by what I have been reading on your site I will be replacing quite frequently. Panasonic needs to either (1) replace all our bulbs for the life of the tv - free or (2) Replace our televisions with one that is not a defective 'lemon'.

    I purchased a LCD Projection TV model PT-50LC13 from Panasonic. After 14 months the lamp unit burned. However, according to panasonic it should provide 10,000 houres. Mine was under 1000. My uncle and my freind also bought the same unit. My uncle had change his six time in less two years. my other freind change three times. I have checked out other consumer review sites and have seen at least 80 to 100 similar complaints.

    Ppurchased a panasonic television pt-50lc13 in january of 2004. the lamplight has gone out twice in 4 months time and the ballast has needed to be replaced. Now I have blue dots appearing on the screen of the television. I was told that the tv is out of warranty with panasonic but purchased an extended warranty through circuit city. spoke to a few tv repairmen which said it sounds like the engine for the tv is now going out and the part is 1100.00 to replace. I believe these tvs should be recalled since we rarely even watch it. Consumer beware!

    I bought a PT50LC14 television and after 6 months it stopped working without any signs that it had a problem. I than called panasonic and they refered me to authorized dealers in my area, when I called the shops they needed over a week to come and fix the TV, then they asked me where I purchased the TV and when I said Sears they replied we can't fix it you have to call Sears.

    The problem with that is Sears is going to charge me for the repair that should be covered by Panasonic, Who made me wait for 25 minutes or more on hold to tell me their is nothing they can do for me. I am so disappointed that I have returned the two new Panasonic units that I recently purchsed because I will no Longer support Panasonic if this is how they treat their customers.

    Bought my tv for $2500 on 7-12-04 and within 3 months the bulb blew out. Got it replaced and within 4 months it blew again. Now on oct 17,2005 it blew out again. There is no way I am even close to their 10,000 hours. (I mean that is what it says in the owner manual.) Then it was a pain trying to talk to panasonic (very long waits 7 min to over half an hour) and best buy to try and get a new lamp. If you are going to pay the money Panasonic ought to put its name behind their product. Will not buy another Panasonic product again b/c of all the trouble that I have had.
