I purchased my first Panasonic 42" plasma TV from Circuit City in 2007. I also purchased a 2-year extended warranty which of course expired a few months ago. On Sunday 9/26/10, I attempted to turn on my TV. It wouldn't. I tried everything to get it to turn on, switched outlets, bought new HDMI cable—everything.

I decided to call my cable company, thinking that maybe it was a signal problem. They told me it was the TV. My grandson told me he had counted 10 blinks at the on and off power button on the TV. Later on, it was down to 5 blinks and then that evening it was down to 2 blinks. I went online and tried to find if other customers had this blinking problem with their Panasonic. I would not believe the hundreds of people that I found to have this same problem.

I contacted Panasonic by sending an email. The only thing they did was send me an email giving me a local number to call for service. I would be responsible for the costs.

I found out that this place in Poway would charge $80.00 for diagnostics, $195 for a part or additional for parts—really? And $80.00 to pick up the TV and $80.00 to deliver it back. 2-3 weeks wait for part or parts. Really? I paid $1300.00 in 2007. Why would I pay an additional $500-$600 to repair it when I just found out how many different blinks (inverted back light board, faulty power boards, etc.)? Someone who has had the same problem twice recorded 13 different blink amounts and posted all the different boards that die.

The "blinking red light of death". That’s what everyone online calls it. This is robbery and non-disclosure of defective parts. Why can't the consumer advocates do something about this? Why should we pay twice for a television that the company knew had defective boards and parts? The older the TV, the more expensive the extended warranty. That is why we don't purchase 5-year warranties. It’s like purchasing two TV’s when you are only buying one!

I am 63 years old and disabled.

I work with great difficulty because I have no savings account and no other income than my miserable $39,000 gross a year. This is a terrible hardship on me because my TV is my only entertainment. I don't have any extra money after paying the mortgage, the HOA, the insurance on condo and car, groceries, and gas to get me back and forth to work. I don't go anywhere, not even to a movie. I don't eat out. My TV is my only means of entertainment. I have never been able to afford a plasma TV in the past. I always had those big ones that you can buy for $300 or $500.

Now I'm sitting here at my computer with no TV. No entertainment. I guess I could go online and watch some of those free TV shows on the TV guide channel online. It's not fair and it's not right. I want something done about this for all the people, hard working people like myself who can barely make it from one week to another that have been ** by Panasonic.

We purchased a Panasonic 42" Plasma, model # TC-P42G15 in Dec. 2009. On Sept. 7, 2010, no picture, red lights blinking, indicating what parts need to be ordered. Parts were ordered through Sperry TV in Lincoln, and 3 parts came in right away. But one has been on back-order and ETA is not until Oct. 13. Really? I finally got a "live" customer service rep. at 800-211-7262 who took down my information and complaint and said her supervisor would review my situation and call me within the hour.

"Louis" did call me within 25 minutes and answered my questions and listened to my complaints of having to wait for a part and being without a TV for over a month. I told him that I had done some research on problems with the PC boards and why is it on back order? He said that there has been an adjustment and changes in their ordering process and it is being worked on. He also said that it was very unusual that the other 3 parts had to be ordered also. I insisted that my extended customer care warranty continue until Dec. 2011. No problem and he sent me an email indicating so.

I have a case # and will receive paper work with the new warranty with a CCP warranty #. He told me everything is in their computers and has been documented should I have anymore problems. I guess I will be holding my breath and hope nothing goes wrong. He also said that even if something happens after Dec. 2011, I can email him or call them, give them my case# and CCP# and they would look into the problem again.

Obviously, there is a glitch in this television, and their Japanese parts and order dept. that needs to be addressed. Panasonic has lost another customer, sorry to say and I will forewarn family, friends and coworkers not to buy Panasonic. On the positive note, Louis was very helpful and courteous and was willing to do anything he could to help.

Panasonic 50" plasma TV with extended warranty won't turn on. I reported it in July. When they came to the house, it turned on that day so they closed out the work order. Same thing happened 2 weeks later and now, it won't go on anymore. I ordered the part but it's on backorder because this happens to 1000s of TVs. I'm now just waiting.

I am not very happy with Panasonic! I bought their 50 inch Plasma model TH-50PZ77U two years ago, July 2008 and paid $2600 plus taxes to purchase what we thought was their high-end TV, judging by the good reviews of it on the internet at the time.

Now, we're without a TV for over a month (failed in August). We were watching it when it just went out and wouldn't come back on. There were 7 blinking lights which showed a pc board problem, when we researched the internet. I had to drive an hour and a half to the nearest repair shop and then waited two weeks to be called that the part was in. But then the technician told us he replaced the board only to see it fail 30 seconds later. He then checked out the plasma screen and discovered it to be shorted out which was causing the problem and told us it's too expensive to fix.

Great! Like we can afford to spend $1500 a year to watch TV! So I called Panasonic and they said they don't give cash back and that the TV was outside the warranty. I told them it is not a warranty issue but a quality issue and I certainly expect a TV to last longer than 24 months, especially at that price! Their offer was for us to buy a new model from them (cheaper model) for $900, it retails for about $1200. That was all they would do! I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and if anything else can be done with these guys? I will never buy another Panasonic again. This is a terrible company for customer satisfaction. Twenty four months and I have to replace a $3000 TV. They can't even fix it. Outrageous!

I purchased a Panasonic TV (Model: TH-46pz85u) two years ago and the warranty expired two months ago. The TV does not turn on and I am seeing a series of blinks at the power light. This is obviously a widespread problem that Panasonic does not want to address properly. I was told by the customer service rep that I would have to pay for all technician visits, repairs and parts. Panasonic will not share any costs. These same complaints about the TV problem and Panasonic's stand on this problem has filled many forums online. Please advise if anything can be done about this or if any current class action suit is pending for this issue.

I purchased a 42 inch Panasonic Viera plasma television in July of 2009. It worked great up until a few weeks ago when it kept shutting off. So I called customer service, and they said my one year warranty is up. Are you kidding me? One year warranty is all I get for a $1200 television? So I was told I couldn't be helped and that's it. I'm two months past a warranty which frankly should be five years and I cannot get any help. I will never buy anything from Panasonic again.

Considering Panasonic, run away! I've had a TH-50PX60U for maybe 3 years. The TV was great, but I'm afraid to leave it plugged in now. Panasonic has electronic issues where the TV shuts off by itself or won't start. Then, the TV sits there for quite awhile sounding like it's trying to turn back on. I've been told it's the main board to the power unit. I could almost buy the same TV for the cost of repair. Of course, it cost a lot more when I purchased it. I'm hoping for a class action lawsuit over the matter since I'm one of thousands to millions that seem to have the same issue with many of Panasonic's TV styles and sizes.

I bought a Panasonic Viera Plasma television in December of 2007. On September 9th, 2010, the picture just shut off and has 10 blinking lights. It will not turn on and the repair man is saying it will be $550.00 to fix this problem. Panasonic will only give me a $150.00 discount on a brand new television which to me seems very minimal. I paid $1,800.00 on this television and now 2 1/2 years later, I am supposed to just shell out for a brand new television that could possibly do the same thing? I don't see how a company can not acknowledge a defective part and we the consumer have no recourse.

The TV now is turning on and off by it self. I only had the TV for a few years. I have no TV in the house and no job to buy another one. I also have three kids that can’t watch TV any more.

I have attempted over 6 times to contact Panasonic to resolve an issue with their Plasma TH50PZ8OU Plasma TV. I purchased it on 1/7/09 and it quit working on 11/2/09. It was serviced on 3 different occasions under warranty (11/6, 11/30 and 12/11). On 8/3/10, the same problems occurred again. I contacted Panasonic over 6 times with no results. Upon researching, I have learned that this same model has many complaints the same as mine. I also read where they are extending the warranty on this model but not sharing this information with the public.

After waiting since 8/3/10 for an answer (which I never received from Panasonic), I am told by the repair person that they will only cover $100 parts and $100 labor on a $700 job. I don't believe that a $1200 unit should only last 18 months. And I hesitate to put another $500-$700 into a unit that will probably only last another few months. Please advise if there is anything else that can be done to resolve this problem. Thank you.

$1200 TV lasted only 11 months before having issues. Worked 7 more months before having the same issue again. As the company knew there was a problem during warranty I feel they should stand behind their repairs and product at this time.

I purchased a Panasonic 50" Plasma TV in December 2009 (also purchased a costly 4-year warranty plan). Six months later, TV crashed. Best Buy did not have "Geek Squad" service in our area (23 miles away) and a 2nd party picked up the TV for repair. To date (September 2, 2010), I still do not have my TV back.

After several calls to various departments of Best Buy, I spoke with Charlie and Supervisor Stacy in Customer Relations Dept. (53 total wait time) who were of no help at all other than to tell me that they are still trying to work with Panasonic. Stacy also informed me that if Panasonic did not approve replacement and my Best Buy warranty kicked in and my TV was replaced through the warranty that I would have to purchase a separate warranty plan. Yeah, right!

They just lost me and my family as customers! I've spent many hours of my own time contacting each party involved instead of receiving the customer service that Best Buy claims to provide.

My Panasonic TH-50PZ85U has joined many others that have failed after a short time. Panasonic's local service center told me I needed four replacement boards at a cost of $1100.00. Needless to say I wouldn't go for that but did buy the parts and installed them myself (I am an experienced technician). The service center’s diagnosis was wrong and it would appear that at least the infamous power supply is involved. It was very frustrating for a few months of use from an expensive TV. I haven't decided if I want to invest any more money in a very disappointing product.

On 8/18 I had a Comcast technician at my home to upgrade my service. I have Panasonic PVC2450 TV which was purchased in 2000. He was unable to program the remote so that it would turn the TV on/off and adjust the sound. I called Panasonic's 1 800 number so that I could get the 5 digit code the technician needed. For two hours, I was either on hold or transferred to nine different people/departments. Needless to say, this was frustrating. The final representative, Karen, told me that my TV was too old to be compatible with the Comcast remote device. She was going on and on about why and I interrupted her to let her know I understood and told her the two-hour wait was too long. She didn't appreciate my interruption. Well, I certainly didn't appreciate the 2-hour wait. I would like to recommend to Panasonic that they get the type of phone service that takes your number and a representative calls you. I felt stress and disappointment that my problem was not resolved in the way I hoped it would be.

This is about my Panasonic Plasma (model # TH-42PZ77U). I paid over $2,000.00 to include a service plan of 3 years (which was well overpriced),. In May 2010, this plasma television no longer functions properly with it switching off. I called for service to be provided being that we paid several hundred dollars for this service. After the run around of approximately 45 minutes speaking to many different customer service reps, finally we received an appointment for July 4, ridiculous waiting period! They never even offered a temporary television to alleviate the problem.

On July 2 , they called and left a message to reschedule until the end of July 2010. I returned the call after being transferred for about 25 minutes. They made another appointment, again at no time did they offer to provide a temporary replacement. Once the technician arrived on July 13, he states, "The lights are blinking because the unit fans are no longer working." Then he said, "You should have asked for a replacement television." I was furious. I then called in three separate occasions to inquire about the fans and the technician. First they said that the part was on its way. I called 10 days after the 13th. I called several days later, a rep said she would have the parts department call back, never did.

What is happening to Sears? I don't know. What I do know is that through word of mouth they will lose a lot of clients. It's the 16th of August 2010 and I still haven't received the parts or a technician and my plasma is still not working! I will call today and I can only imagine what they will say. I can only imagine that they are waiting for my service plan to expire on December 2010 so that they can charge me the parts.

This horrendous customer service will only make present clients shift their business to Best Buy and so many other responsible companies! Shame on you! A cost of over $2000 was spent for a plasma in Sears. In May, it stopped working and since then I still have it. Thanks to Sears, the same problem. Today is Aug. 16th. I'm furious!

I own a Panasonic LCD TV Model PT-50CZ70 for less than three years and the Lamp Assembly Part No. LFS4000PA1. I reported the Warranty Problem to Panasonic end of June and was given a Case #. I was not able to get the problem fixed until August 7, 2010. The parts department of Panasonic in Washington State could not get their act together and ship the replacement part. They did not answer Panasonic authorized dealers emails or return phone calls to get the Warranty Part to them for this Warranty Repair.

Panasonic Parts System does not work and they cannot get their problems resolved. I, as consumer had to spend over 1 hour talking with Panasonic to get the Part shipped to their dealer. We reconfirmed the ship to address, but they shipped it to the wrong State. Their computer system does not work and it keep shipping parts to a PO Box (Service Dealer) billing address, and not the Land Address. They could not even ship it to the correct state after their Supervisor re-confirmed the correct ship to address. Their Customer Service is located in the Philippines. My short 3 year warranty for service was beginning to run out. The Lamp had a 5 year warranty and the Service Period needs to be 5 years. I have no faith that this new Lamp will last. I own a Panasonic TH-46PZ85U that I purchased in Jan 2009. I recently fell victim to the power light blinking fault. IE a defective power supply board or other board on the TV. Needless to say, the warranty expired in Jan 2010. I am very upset; an $1800 dollar set fails with just 19 months of use. I do a little search on the net and I discover that thousands of Panasonic flat panel TV owners have fell victim to this factory defect Panasonic TV models that were built in 2007 to the present.

During my research before I purchased my Panasonic, no one in any electronics magazine including Consumer Reports made any mention of this problem. Please do searches on Panasonic Power light blinking and you will have the info necessary to question Panasonic reliability? There is a class Action lawsuit against Panasonic concerning the black level issue, but in my humble opinion the power light blinking fault is a much more pressing and wide spread issue.

Please research this and hold Panasonic accountable for their poor manufacturing. This should be the grounds for a recall. I should not have to pay for a manufacturing defect/defective parts.

We bought our Panasonic Plasma TV (Model TH46FD18) from Costco in November 2008. We had heard good things about Panasonic Plasma's. On July 11, 2010, the TV would not turn on, showing us the 10 red blinking lights. Then it went to 2 blinking lights. We researched on the web and discovered, to our dismay, that Panasonic has been having power board issues for years, years not months. Of course, we contacted Costco since they have the extended warranty coverage, and they have been wonderful in this matter. However, Panasonic has not. They know they have a major problem on their hands yet continue to allow these power boards to fail, almost always after their one-year warranty is no longer valid! We had a repair company out to determine the problem, and it is the power board (Surprise!).

Now, it has been over 3 weeks with the part on back-order, and a call today with Panasonic indicates it will be another 2-3 weeks on back-order. Panasonic is flippant, arrogant and do not seem to care. We will never buy Panasonic again and really encourage folks to stay clear of them when choosing any of their products! They do not back their products. We have told Costco that they had better get a reign on Panasonic, and use some of their muscle to get them to be honorable. Recalls, etc. should have happened. We feel sorry for those of you who did not get the TV from Costco and now your TV is a piece of junk, not worth the price of the repair.

We are fortunate to have the extended warranty, although we wish we had another product brand now. We have had many TVs in our lifetime and none have had any issues. But one would expect when an issue does occur, the company makes it right with the consumer. It is not happening with Panasonic! Tell everyone not to buy Panasonic! Maybe one day they will hurt enough to care, not likely in our near future though. Sad, Sad! It is the principle for us. We are under the Costco extended warranty so the good company of Costco will make this right as they believe in customer service and satisfaction!

Panasonic's attitude and handling of this matter for years now is completely unacceptable! They win and we lose. They don't seem at all interested in keeping their existing customers. And how many potential new customers will they lose after reading all the reports here and elsewhere online? Get new leadership Panasonic! Fix your quality problems and make it right with your customer base.

Approximately four years ago, I purchased a Panasonic Lumix digital camera. Almost from the beginning, I have occasional problems with the LCD screen. The screen would not properly display images. This condition was rare and would correct itself. May of this year the LCD stopped working entirely and did not correct itself. In early June of this year, I mailed the camera to McAllen, Texas as instructed. I included a brief description of the problem and requested that the repair be performed without charge due to the fact that the LCD never worked properly. The camera was in very good condition and clearly was never abused. I was never contacted and on July 7, 2010, I called to inquire the progress of the repair. During this conversation, I was told the cost of the replacement would be $180.75. I requested that the fee be waived; I was told by the customer service representative that I would be contacted within the next 30 minutes. I found the employee to be less than helpful and I was never contacted further.

On July 8, 2010, I again called about this issue. I spoke with Kloe (who was very professional and helpful) about this problem. I again requested that the fee be waived. Kloe advised I would be contacted within two business days; I was not contacted. On July 12, 2010, I again called about this issue and spoke with Devona. I explained the circumstances and requested to speak with a supervisor. My call was either terminated intentionally or disconnected. I called again, and due to the poor voice automated system, I was connected to the wrong department. The employee I spoke with advised he would transfer my call; again the call was disconnected or terminated intentionally.

I called for the third time on July 12, 2010, and due to your poor voice automated system, I was connected to the wrong department. The employee I spoke with advised he would transfer my call; again the call was disconnected or terminated intentionally. At that point I had become too agitated to speak with a representative and sent an email through Panasonic's website. The email requested a name, address, and phone number for the executive in charge of service and repairs. The website advised I would be contacted in two to three days, I was never contacted.

Obviously, I have many complaints, the first of which I was never contacted after mailing the camera to McAllen, Texas. Second, to my knowledge no examination of the camera has been performed (is it possible the problem is user error and no repair needs to be performed?). Third, the employee I spoke with on July 7, 2010 was less than professional. Fourth, On July 7, 2010, I was told I would be contacted, I was not. Fifth, On July 8, 2010, I was told I would be contacted within two days, I was not. Sixth, on July 12, 2010, my call was terminated. The customer service representative had my phone number and did not attempt to contact me.

Seventh, On July 12, 2010, I called two more times, and due to the automated system, I was connected with the wrong departments. When employees attempted to transfer me, these calls were also terminated. Eighth, also on July 12, 2010, I sent an email through Panasonic's website requesting the name and address of the executive for Panasonic in charge of service/repairs. The website advised I would be contacted in two to three days, I was not contacted.

On or about July 19, 2010, I spoke with Bill **, Panasonic Consumer Affairs. I explained the above details to Mr. **, he advised me he would look into my case and call me back. Approximately two days later, Mr. ** called, advised my camera would be examined, and the cost of the examination would be waived, I would be responsible for the cost of the repair. I agreed to this arrangement. On or about July 26, 2010, I was contacted by Panasonic, advised the examination was performed and the cost of the repairs would be $172. I agreed to this amount and paid for the repair with my Visa card. I was further advised the repair would take approximately two weeks. On August 9, 2010, I was contacted by Panasonic. I was informed that the balance of my repair was $217. They also referred to my previous payment as a deposit. Based on the above details I wished to be contacted by a senior company representative.

Well a couple of hours later, I went to turn on the TV and again, same issue! I contacted Panasonic Support Centre; they suggested I take it to one of their approved service centres, which I did. The service centre contacted me saying the S Board needed replacing but Panasonic stop making that particular kind back in 2007. They suggested that I put in a formal complaint to Panasonic, as the TV is only 4 years old, parts should still be available.

Panasonic said that they do not sell the part to fix the color. Now, I'm out the repair cost plus what I paid for the TV.

Panasonic LCD TV failed far before the promised 10,000 hours of lamp life and the color screen went out at the same time. After having the $300.00 lamp TY-LA1000 replaced. The colorers in the LCD projection screen were gone Like reds and blues etc only color what's there are black, white and this over powering yellow in the picture. Everything was working fine until the lamp TY-LA1000 went out, in return took out the TV color thing.

I have brought this to the shop 3 times. The first time, they replaced a Fan as the power supply was shutting the fan down. This worked for a while and then the problem happened again. This time the shop could not find anything. I returned home and is now living with this annoying problem.

After the third time to the shop, they still cant find anything wrong with the TV and when I brought it home, it wont turn on at all. There is still the 11 flashing lights. On November 24, 2008, the lamp (model number TY-LA1500) went out on my Panasonic LCD TV (model number PT-45LC12) for the 3rd time. I went to the store that sold me the lamp. I bought a new one for about $300. On November 20, 2009, the lamp went out again for the 4th time. Again, I went and bought a replacement lamp. In talking to the service manager, he suggested I contact Panasonic because the lamps had a year warranty on them. I did so and after several calls, I was told that I would either receive a new lamp or reimbursement for the cost. I received neither. On July 25, 2010, the lamp I placed in on November 20 failed.

I called Panasonic about this and the other one. After 2 hours of getting nowhere, I was told I could either wait up to 2 months to receive a new lamp, provided I fax all receipts in showing I purchased the lamp as I said I did to the support representative named Peewee. This would then go on to someone else who would make the follow up calls. I asked for a supervisor and was told there wasn't anyone available. I asked if I was supposed to wait for up to 2 months to watch TV. He told me that I had the option of purchasing a new lamp from them for $299.00 plus shipping. He also said my 3rd option would be a new TV, which he hoped would be a Panasonic brand. I asked about the other lamp or reimbursement I had expected. I was told that in order to get that, I would have had to mail in the old lamp which I was never told about. Since this has happened, I've read about a class action suit for models similar to mine with the same type of lamp problems.

I purchased a Panasonic Plasma TV Model TH50PZ85U from Best Buy on May 25, 2008. On June 1, 2010, this TV would not turn on but did indicate two blinking red lights on the front panel. After unplugging the unit and waiting for a few minutes, the TV would again turn on.

This went on for several weeks, getting worse as time went by until it would no longer function. When I spoke to Panasonic, they were sorry but denied that there was an issue with this TV. They could send someone out to look at it but it would be at my expense since it was out of warranty. Needless to say, I told them I felt that this TV should last more than 24 months without having major problems. Again, they said, “So sorry, nothing we can do”.

Upon researching this problem, I learned that I am not alone in this particular problem. There are numerous complaints about Panasonic TVs having the same issue, bad power supplies, going back to 2004. It's curious that it's generally just out of the warranty period that these problems occur although there have been several complaints from new owners.

In conclusion, it seems this has been an ongoing problem with Panasonic Plasma TVs for sometime. One which they don't or won't acknowledge. Panasonic needs to own up to this issue and replace the faulty power in these TVs. The cost to troubleshoot and replace the suspected boards for me, at least is $500-700, prorated for a $1900.00 TV for 24 months use.

I bought a Panasonic Plasma TV in 2006, Model TH-42px600u. It worked fine for about 6 months but after that time it started making some popping noises like the clicking noise you hear when you turn the TV on. It kept making that annoying sound for some time but a least I was able to see the image and hear the sound from its speakers. Afterwards, it started turning off automatically, with the power red light blinking 7 times. I checked the outlet looking for a possible ungrounded wire, as the manual says, and everything was okay with the grounding. The remedy for this was to unplug the power cord for some time, let the TV cool down and then powers it back again. Also I used a fan aiming at the back of the TV to try to prolong the viewing experience.

About 6 months ago, the TV stopped working, no image and no sound at all. I contacted Panasonic to find out if they can help and they say no since the warranty already expired. The only thing that the Panasonic technical support gave me is the phone number of a Panasonic certified technician which I contacted and took the TV to. He charged me $50.00 for examining the TV. He said that it was one of the PC boards and Y-sustain board. He also said that the repair would cost $320.00 and I agreed with that. One week later, the technician calls me back and said that he needs to change another board that causes that another board to fail thus increasing the repair cost to around $500.00. He also advised me, for those prices buy another new TV set, because of the obvious outcome.

I purchased a 42" flat screen Panasonic Plasma television Model #TH-42PX75U at a Brooklyn NY PC Richard and Son store on 11/23/07 at a cost of $696.97 (excluding tax.) The warranty included was 1 yr parts and labor.

On June 19, 2010, while watching this television, it suddenly shut off for no apparent reason. After determining that it was definitely a television problem and not a cable problem, I called Panasonic at the number listed on the "Plasma Concierge" card they mailed me shortly after I registered the television purchase. The number listed is 1 800 973-4390. I explained the problem and was asked if the red light was flashing on the television. It was blinking and I was asked to count the number of blinks. I counted 12 blinks and informed the Panasonic rep I was speaking to of this.

As the television was now past the 1 year warranty provided by Panasonic, the rep said she would give me the name of a local repair company. I called the company but had a bad experience with that company which I reported back to Panasonic. (They wanted to take my television after paying them $165 with no estimate of the costs to repair and stating that it would take up to 3 weeks to return my TV).

I refused and asked for my money back. I then called Panasonic back and they gave me a second company to call Advisory TV at 212 243-0786. Once again I was told that a technician would be sent out and I would have to pay $145 plus tax for him to evaluate the problem. I was told I would receive an estimate for the repair and I could decide to repair or not but that the $145 plus tax would not be refunded if I chose not to repair. I said I understood and the technician came to my home. He opened up the back of the television and said that the "A Board" was defective and would need to be replaced.

This was causing the television to shut off as the A Board shuts it down when it sees something wrong going on. I asked how much this would cost. He made a call and gave me an estimate detailing the costs as follows: $225 Labor, $217 for the part, $4 for "other," $10.00 S/H and the $157.87 evaluation charge for a whopping total of $654.34! The labor charge is the worse part as it probably takes them 10 minutes tops to change the part.

Needless to say, I was shocked beyond words to get such an estimate to fix a 2 and 1/2 year old television. I paid for the evaluation as required but declined to have the repair done. I called Panasonic to discuss this estimate. I told the rep that I felt that Panasonic had given me a television with an "A PC Board" that became defective after only 2 and 1/2 years of use and I asked that they assist with paying for the repair. I was told to fax in a copy of my receipt and the estimate given by Advisory TV.

I received a call back from Reynard today who told me that Panasonic was willing to pay $225 of the repair, leaving me to pay the balance of $429.34 ($157.87 of which I had already paid). I told Reynard that I did not think it was fair to expect that I, as a consumer, be stuck with paying $429.34 for a 2 1/2 year old television because of a defective PC Board (A Board). I informed him that I had an RCA television prior to this television for 20 years and never once needed to call a technician for repair. I do not think it unreasonable to expect that this expensive television should at least function well longer than 21/2 years without a problem!

I also told him I thought this was a rip-off as Panasonic knew exactly what the problem was when they asked me how many times the red light blinked. Why did I have to have an "evaluation" done which I had to pay for before the television was even repaired? I am now out $157.87 and I still have a broken television.

Consumer Affairs, I need your help here. This is a rip-off! I thought Panasonic was a reputable manufacturer but I have found out this is not so. I am certain I am not the only consumer this has happened to. Why would they ask me how many times the red light blinked? They know what it meant and still made me do an evaluation at a cost $157.87. I want everyone to know what a ripoff this is. I am very disappointed with Panasonic's response to this matter.

I bought a Panasonic 42-inch television, model TH42PZ77U, on November 20, 2007. It broke in April 2008, November 19, 2008, and June 28, 2010. The first two breaks occurred within the warranty period. The first two times, the invoices show that the same parts were replaced: TNPA 4415 S (DG circuit), TNPA 4360 S (an H Circuit), and ETX2MM681MFS (a P Circuit). I don't know what is wrong this time, though I have my suspicions, given the track record of these parts. But the first two fixes didn't last, so I'd feel like a fool paying for a repair.

I contacted Panasonic’s Viera Concierge Service hoping for some kind of just settlement. The first representative I talked to commiserated when I said the set had broken three times in such a brief period. Once, yes, he said implying that more breaks hinted at a defect in the product. He said he'd have to look at the case background and would phone me. He didn't call back, and I regret that. I sensed he understood. The second representative was less friendly. He said the set was out of warranty and that he could arrange a repairperson to come to the house. I said, "Would you have a set repaired that had broken three times in such a short period? I paid $1,200 for the television." He said, "If I wanted to keep the set, I would." It’s a chilly response. Clearly, it’s a coached answer.

I've bought a Panasonic TV in the past, a CT-25L8G in 2004. It performed fine. I've got a Panasonic Lumix camera. It takes swell photos. But this particular plasma television is a lemon. Panasonic needs to acknowledge its engineering error on this product or on the parts needed to fix it and move on. Otherwise, I think a class action suit makes sense or a comic YouTube video, shot at multiple sites, of folks blasting this model with paint balls, pouring roofing tar over it, or otherwise finding ways to express their frustration at the ** things. Maybe a cluster of comic videos on this topic would go viral. "Unwarranted Failure" could be their title. Maybe Michael Moore would pick up on it.

I would like to add my name to the ever-growing list of frustrated customers in hopes that maybe Panasonic will grow up and recall and fix the problem for their customers. I paid almost $2600CDN for a set that has lasted about 20 months. I overpaid because the price dropped $1000 about 2 months after I bought it, but that's beside the point. It only makes it worse though. I would urge you to put pressure on Panasonic to recall TV sets that may have this problem. They must have known this was a problem, but have done nothing. Thanks.

$2600 hard-earned cash thrown away on a TV that failed within 20 months because Panasonic won't stand behind their product, not just for me but many more customers with the same problem.

Our Panasonic TH42PX60U repeatedly shuts off and the power indicator light blinks 8 times, rests for 2 counts then repeats this pattern. Recognizing this as a preset troubleshooting code, I called Panasonic help center. CS Rep said he could not tell me what this meant and referred me to an area authorized service center. The service center tech said they could not tell me what the blinking light code meant without the "bench charge", meaning that we'd be taking the 42" plasma, in an upright and standing position, on an 1 hour drive to this nearest repair center. (in-home service is not available outside 5 minute radius)

Then there would be the $60.00 bench charge, along with the diagnostics charge and very possibly replacement parts charges, a likely total of around $400 to $500.00. With no guarantee of success. We now have a $1,100.00 Plasma "plastic rectangle" that cannot be disposed of or used as a television.

Panasonic also does not have an authorized servicer in the city of 200,000 people where I live. Nothing major happened. I just can't seem to get any answers. For a while, I've been dealing a personal issue about the 3D TVs and technology that has been coming over the last few years. Recently back in March, I attended the auto show in Dallas and Panasonic had a setup for people to get a first hand experience of watching their 3D.

I was a bit skeptic about if it would or work or not. All my life I've never been able to see 3D and thought maybe this time it will work. But no it didn't. The problem with 3D is if you don't have perfect eyesight or even depth perception, it will not work. I've tried contacting people that make these products and ask what they can do about that and the main point is there is no disclaimer on the products of this nature about that. All the sales reps tell you is that it works. So who can I talk to about this?

TV began having large colored circles in the pictures right after lamp was replaced. Called Panasonic and found out it was a factory warranty and they sent someone out right away to fix the problem and they were kind enough to reset the lamp for us. I luckily purchased a protection plan with the television, and after a three-month struggle and a call to the executive offices at Circuit City, they gave me a replacement Panasonic television (model #PT-52LCX65).

After three years of use and purchasing a new lamp for this TV (around $250), I am having problems with it. I looked on a website for troubleshooting and found someone who has the same type of problem as I do--a purple hue that moves around the screen and affects the lighter areas of the images on the TV programs. The repair man who responded to the Panasonic customer's question said that Panasonic has had trouble with this particular model's projector engine and to contact Panasonic directly.

I Isolated the problem to the television by getting new connections for the Verizon FiOs and also playing a movie on the DVD player, making sure the problem was still there even when watching a DVD movie. I then called Panasonic to find out why I have had two expensive televisions break down in less than 5 years' time. They did not have an answer, but instead, they referred me to an authorized repair business and said I would have to pay for the repair.

I am completely dissatisfied with this response and believe that Panasonic is selling defective televisions, leaving their customers to solve the problems at our expense. I also found out through Panasonic's customer service that they are no longer making LCD projection televisions that require a lamp for operation, probably because they have had so many problems with them. I believe these lamps heat up the television internally and cause malfunctions due to excessive heat. I can't justify fixing a television for who knows how much, when they have a reputation for breaking down so frequently. What do I do?

I know that Panasonic has a class action suit for this exact problem with my TV. Please advice on how I can be reimbursed for this bulb problem. September 29, 2006, Panasonic offers replacement lamps for some LCD TVs.

As the result of a recent class action settlement, Panasonic has agreed to replace the defective lamps found in many of their LCD projection TV models. Although Panasonic admits no wrongdoing, the company settled with The Garden City Group, Inc., a law firm in Melville, N.Y. Under the settlement, consumers who own Panasonic model numbers PT-50LC13, PT-60LC13, PT-50LCX63 and PT-60LCX63 are to be included in the settlement. Panasonic has agreed to give those consumers: A.) An extended warranty until November 30, 2007; B.) Reimbursement of monies spent to replace failed lamps; C.) If the consumer has had three or more issues with the TV, they can get a replacement TV, or if the consumer chooses, a $1,000 rebate certificate toward the purchase of a new Panasonic TV with a retail price of $1,500.00 or more.

The bulbs blew out in less than 3 years. Because it was still on warranty, Best Buy came and replaced it. The bulbs blew out a second time. I called Best Buy, only to find out that the warranty had expired. They said that they did send us a reminder. My husband and I could not recall getting the reminder letter. I was in school and working full time and taking care of my daughter. They finally send a TV repair person to diagnose the problem, which we paid for, but Best Buy replaced the lamp at no extra cost to us.

Now, the lamp blew up a third time, less than 7 months it was last replaced. We are unable to enjoy our big screen TV. We paid close to $2000 for this TV, including the surge protector and the accessories that Best Buy made us buy for this TV. We were always worried that the TV may blow out in the middle of a big show or when we have guests. Whenever the bulb is out, we were unable to watch TV. The other 32" JVC in my daughter's room, we could not watch because she would be sleeping. We've had this JVC since 2000 and had no problems at all. We would like a refund of our money to buy another TV that does not operate with bulb/lamp.

I purchased the TV instead of a plasma, with the thought that it would last longer than 3 years, as I was told that the plasma screens burn out after that time. It only took 4 for the bulbs to go out, and now, it needs to be replaced. I don't think a $1,800 TV should need to be replaced within 4 years.

I will have to buy lamps for replacement which looks to run at least $100. I haven't seen how much the installation costs, but I have been told not to do it myself, as the lamps contain dangerous chemicals such as mercury. That will cost more money, I'm sure.

I see on the website that there was an extended warranty given to consumers who had purchased the Panasonic PT-50LC13. We never received any information on this, and we have replaced our lamp numerous times. The lamps never last anywhere near the 10,000 hours they are supposed to, they last usually on average 1 year. Which is rediculous considering they cost $250 to replace. With all of the replacement lamps we have purchased, we might as well have bought a new tv. We have tried purchasing lamps from a different website, but those only seemed to last about 3 months. Also, how come we were never aware of the extneded warranty that was given to people who had purchased their tv?

I purchased a plasma tv TH-42PX60U on November 2006. A week before its one year anniversary the tv started showing red vertical lines which made it impossible to watch. After contacting the local authorized repair shop they came in and replaced the PDP panel with labor costs of $321. Less than a year after this by mid 2008 the tv set started acting up again with the same vertical lines. This time it took longer for the lines to impair viewing the tv. Now the repair company is estimating total repair costs to be $1,990 which is the same amount I originally paid for the set. The fact that these PDP panels have lasted for less than a year with very little use raises suspision about a defective design.

I paid $1,200 for a panasonic TH-42PZ77U and about 14-16 months after purchase, the set simply stopped working and showed a sequence of 7 blinking red lights. This set saw very gentle and light use during the time it worked, and was a beautiful and enjoyable television. With no signs of any problems, it simply stopped working.
A google search immediately returned websites dedicated to people who have this same problem. A large number of panasonic sets supposedly shipped with faulty components with no assistance provided by the manufacturer. I proceeded to call customer support on 9/14/09 and was told I was outside of warranty and that I would need to pay to have this set fixed. I was not given any estimate of cost. I was told I may appeal the company for assistance but I can only do that AFTER I pay a 3rd party money to "evaluate" my set. I'm grateful I searched the internet first, to find that many people are forced to pay hundreds of dollars before any parts and labor are considered. If this is the same for my case, it will cost over half as much as the new item costs, a complete waste of money. And people still report multiple failures even after being fixed.

The green light on the power indicator in the front of tv would blink then the tv turns off as we see a red light on the lamp indicator beside the power indicator. Diagnosis is covered by the extended warranty, but the Sam's warranty rep said if the lamp needs replacement, then it will not be covered. That was when I researched on the Panasonic projection LCD lamps. Our model takes a TY-LA1001, which is the newer version of the TY-LA1000, which won in the class action settlement. I purchased a PT-50LC13 television from Best Buy with a 3-year service contract. At the beginning of the 2nd year, the bulb blew (so I was told); Best Buy covered the TV, came out and fixed it. In year 3 of owning the TV, the balister overheated and needed a replacement along with the bulb. Year 4 went okay and in year 5, the balister overheated and the TV is not usable, it now sits in my garage as a giant paper weight. For an item I paid over $3,000? After lots of research, I opted to file a complaint here as it is clear the TV is a defective product. The system design is flawed and Panasonic should stand behind their products. After many calls and discussions with Panasonic, they were finally, so it appeared, going to assist me. I needed to provide them with some documentation and proof of ownership. I did not have the receipt from Best Buy, but I did have the service contract details as well as all other documentation.

After the review of my details and documentation from Panasonic, they came back to me and offered me a discount to purchase a TV through them at 20% off the listed internet price. After a little more research, I realized the discount they were offering me off their price was still more expensive than if I were to go to a store or purchase online from Best Buy. How can a company do such a thing and think it is okay? Aside from being out the $3,000+ I spent on a highly rated TV at the time, I am out about 4-6 hours of frustrated conversations, looking for receipts from 5 years ago and gathering all the information. I estimate I also have about 4 hours of research into why the TV is failing. It is a design flaw and everyone that has this TV will suffer this or similar issues, due to the balister overheating.

And after waiting fifteen minutes, I was hung up on. They did not want to deal with the problem and only offered a 15% rebate off the purchase of a new TV from them (for which a better deal can be found almost any day on the internet).

I was not able to talk to anyone, but to a standard technical support person. I've only had the TV 2 years and paid well over two thousand for it. And now, I'm looking at spending at least another thousand to fix it. Something's gotta give. Extremely frustrated over the issue of our Panasonic 60" LCD TV failure. We have model PT-60LC14. The TV is hardly used, being that it sits in the guest room, not even close to a 2000 hours of use. I was watching a DVD and the thing turned off and a red lamp LED starts flashing. I called Panasonic service center and was told that most likely, it was a lamp failure and to "do yourself a favor and just buy another set". I purchased this unit new at $1900.00 from Sam's Club. That's no favor! I purchased it in 2006. I have an RCA 50" screen, which was purchased in 1992 and still works fine in our bedroom. So it would not be unreasonable to expect a newer, more updated 60" LCD would last at least as long.

After reading some of the comments about the headaches dealing with Panasonic on these issues, I've decided not to purchase any more products by Panasonic. I didn't mind paying a little higher price, if it meant I'd get a better quality product. However, anyone can plainly see that this is not the case here.
