I was never informed by the salesman that the adjustable base was not part of the 30-day home trial. They said they would take back the top of the bed, but I would have to keep the base (which was the most expensive part of the bed). I have had 2 back surgeries and this is the worst bed I have ever slept on in my life. The floor is more comfortable. They sent a couple of products to make it better, but it did not. I would also have to pay them an additional $200 to pick up the top of the bed. I would still be stuck with the base and would only get back less than a third of what I paid for the bed. I was told by customer service that they would let the district manager know so they could do more training with the salesman. How does this help me? Then, I would still have to go purchase another bed. I will not ever recommend this company to anyone due to the dishonest and misleading practices. The salesman should have been upfront and honest and I could have made a more informed decision on my purchase. They advertise 30-day in-home trial.

The Sleep Number p5 bed took 2 weeks to arrive and was delivered in 3 small shipping boxes. It took the delivery men 10 minutes to set it up. Seeing that shocked us. The first night, we didn't get any quality sleep. We have tried numerous settings and nothing helps. The bed sits so low it looks like a toddler bed. It is basically made of an air mattress, a few pieces of foam and a plastic base. Our salesman lied about how much we would be out if we didn't like it. It was $200 for delivery and that was supposed to be what we would be out total.
That’s the first lie. It is actually that plus the same for return. I read so many negative reviews and didn’t listen. Friends told us that we would hate it and we didn't listen to them. We saved for a year for this bed. I am so upset we are out $400 for nothing. Plus, we bought the mattress pad and the sheet set which does not work on regular mattresses. So the total is over $600. Customer service was not sympathetic at all. This is where they make money, not on satisfied customers.

We've purchased 3 Sleep Number beds and love them all (just changed sizes over the years). I'm writing about a King bed purchased in 2000. Today, we discovered mildew/mold on our air bladders & foam. I called the company and they are sending out new air bladders and foam at no charge to us! In 2005, the company developed a treatment that prevents this problem from happening. We experience the same level of support from the company when ordering these beds. They have been wonderful for both my husband and I as we both have back problems. We are delighted to have these beds!

I am not defending them, but they did respond quickly and sent a replacement Sleep Number bed to try and solve our problems. But the lack of in-home service could save us consumers lots of stress. However, the replacement mattress cover has a flaw in its construction that would save them lots of money and cut the cost for us. CS was very accommodating. We are still sorry we purchased it. They need a consumer council where we can tell them about our problems.

Sleep number is the worst company to deal with ever! I tried the bed, didn't like it. No problem, I have 30 days to return it, no questions asked. I called the place I got it from and listened to 15 minutes of excuses as to why it was my fault the bed was not comfortable. When I finally said to come get this bed and bring my old one back, they said they didn't keep the old one. I was specifically told that the old bed would be returned! That is one of the major reasons I got this bed. I am telling all of my friends in person, on Facebook, strangers I meet on the street, everyone to stay away from these crooks.

I did contact the store on several occasions telling them I had difficulty finding my number and not sleeping well. They advised to give it time and the correct way to find the setting. Due to my own misunderstanding of the trial period, I waited too long to return the bed. I contacted customer services and told them how uncomfortable the bed is and that the mattress cover was bunching up after only a few months. They went over things to make us more comfortable and sent a new cover and a new pad. What really upsets me is that we have to take the entire bed apart to put on this new cover that I think will just bunch up again. They have no in-home service after the sale. We are both disabled with back problems and we have to install it?

I have had my bed since 1998, so 14 years. I have Fibromyalgia, 4 ruptured discs in my neck and serious lumbar problems as well. I have nothing but good things to say about this bed. It has been the main reason I can sleep at night without waking up in extreme pain. So today, I called the company due to a slow leak in the air of bed. I immediately reached someone with a solution to find the problem, plus an offer to send me caps to test the bed at no charge. I am hoping to buy a new Select Comfort bed soon.

Within four years of owning the Sleep Number bed, the LCD screens on the controllers failed and cannot be read. We were told the replacement for the devices was not available. One air chamber does not maintain pressure throughout the night. When I tried to contact customer support, the automated process said they were closed even though I called during their operating hours posted on the website.

We bought the bed with a remote and a tech set it up for us in 2006. Immediately, I noted that it was merely two air mattresses with some foam over the top. The first big problem I noted was my husband and I were on really different numbers. So, since his side was softer, I kept sliding down towards him all night. After years of this, there was a permanent dip in the middle and when we contacted the company, we were told that they knew this would happen and they wanted us to purchase a "shelf" to correct it. My hubby stuffed the middle with an old comforter and sheets to even up the bed. The remote only works intermittently and I no longer sleep well on it.
When we originally purchased it, we used their financing. We made all the payments as requested and after it was paid off, they sent me a bill for a stupid amount like $4.00. I paid it, only to get another bill for something like $0.26. No, I am not kidding. The interest was accruing faster than we could pay it off and the rep I spoke to actually threatened to put that on our credit - yes, the $0.26. I overpaid it and guess what? They never refunded the difference. Go figure. We just purchased a new mattress that is being delivered today. All I can say is go buy two air mattresses and place them on a box spring. It is the same thing, throw a pillow top over it and you have your own homemade bed. Do not waste your money.

I had the P4 mattess and really liked it. However, I switched from a full to a queen bed and so I bought the C4 bed in August 2011 for my queen. It was so bad I returned it and got an upgrade to the one I had before, the P4. It is not the same bed. The bed is advertised with an 11" height. Mine is barely 9". The SC tech said you do not measure the side of the bed, you measure in the middle. What a load of crap. How do you measure a bed in the middle? Anyway, I have had the bed almost 1 year and have not had one night of good sleep on it. I wake up stiff. I can hardly walk. My lower back and hips hurt constantly. No matter what number I put it on, I feel like I am sleeping on a hard, uncomfortable air mattress.
When I finally called SC, which I kept forgetting to do until every night when I got into bed and then it was too late, they were worthless. He suggested I spend even more money to buy more foam for the top to make it comfortable. I spent $2,100 for this bed and now I have to spend more money to make it comfortable? The company should be run out of town on a rail. I know lots of people love this bed. But as far as I am concerned, do not buy a Select Comfort Number bed.

We recently moved and when putting our bed back together, we found that we misplaced the remote to inflate the bed. After looking for the remote, we finally called the company to see what we could do to inflate the bed since without the remote, the bed is useless. We were told we had to buy a new remote and with tax and shipping, it would be $86.00. With no other recourse, we ordered the remote and within the next couple of days, we found the old remote on the same day the new remote arrived two day UPS that took three days. When I called to ask to return the new remote, I was told Sleep Number will not accept the remote and be thankful now that both my wife and I have our own personal remotes. I will never do business with this company again and will never recommend this company to anyone.

It's one of those situations that is too complicated to list all the confusion. Let's just say that I wish I had come to ** first to avoid all the problems. We tried to upgrade from queen to king and that's when all the problems started. We were putting another $1,000 or so into their pocket and everything got screwed up. We put the order on hold (out of town for a death in the family) and they shipped it immediately. We asked that the sheets ordered with the bed be cancelled since we bought the sheets at the retail outlet; instead, they shipped the sheets and charged us twice. We spent hours on the phone with customer service covering their mistakes and were offered nothing in return. And that's only part of it. We found www.consumersaffairs.com and saw that out of 704 reviews that they only got less than 2 stars. Then, we cancelled the whole order and are hoping for a refund in 21 days. Let's hope that we get our refund. I see that we will probably spend another few hours on the phone handling that one.

I purchased a Sleep Number Twin Bed in May 2012. The bed arrived in boxes and was put together by a tech. There is no mattress per se, just an air bed surrounded by a foam zippered in, with foam on top and placed on plastic. A glorified air bed for $949.98 plus shipping of $169.99. I exercised my right to return and they will charge me $199.99 for someone to pick it up or I can break it down for 3 prepaid labels of $29.99 each. They keep the first shipping and charge again for the return shipping. I believe this is outrageous. The salesman said it will cost me $200 to return. I will lose hundreds of dollars for an air bed. Don't get caught in the hype, it is bogus.

I was high pressured into purchasing a single chamber queen bed with all the fixings. It took almost a month to get the bed. The cover that goes over the base continuously comes off so the mattress slides all over the place. I have yet, after 2 years, found a number where I do not wake up with some part of my anatomy asleep. The bed does sag in the middle. If you want a bed like this, go to K-Mart and for $99.00, you have it. I spent $1,500.00 for a bed I despise.

I purchased my Flex Fit Adjustable Sleep Number queen size bed at a very costly price two years ago. I guess it's way more cash because I can sit up to watch TV or adjust it to raise my feet if I'm tired. It's now paid for and it's not working appropriately. The end rail fell off and I can't fix it. I have back problems and can't lift much. The center of the bed caves in, so I feel like I'm sleeping in a hole. I sleep alone and I just can't believe that it would give me problems so soon. This is so overpriced and after a while, the bed is no longer comfortable. What a total rip off! There has to be a better way to maintain this bed for a longer period of time. By the way, when I purchased the bed, I was promised a free pillow and sheets. However, when I returned for it, because they didn't have any at the time, they totally had no idea what I was asking for. How conveniently that they don't remember. Not the best customer service support.

I bought a queen size Sleep Number bed 6 years ago. I didn't like it from the beginning but called after 30 days, too late to return it, maybe 1 week after I couldn't get comfortable. Well, I spent $1800 on this bed. Anyway, I put up with it because it was a lot of money to throw away and now I am out of a bed. It started to deflate on one side, then the other side and the chamber didn't work on one side. We called. It would cost us $200 to fix it. We didn't think we should have to pay for something like this after 6 years and $1800. That's not counting the chamber that pumps it up. Guess what? I don't have a bed at the moment. We have to go out and buy one. I am with every angry person who bought a Sleep Number bed right now. I don't have money for an attorney, would like to join a class action suit if there is one.

Sleep number adjustable queen with mattress foam top - On April 26, I purchased the bed from Hulen Mall in Fort Worth, Texas. They will call you in a week to deliver the bed. I got a call in three days confirming the sale and will get a call in a couple of days to schedule delivery. I got three calls starting in two weeks. I was told that I can't look that up without the RMA number. Since I retired from a health care service industry, I asked if it could be looked up another way. I was told they would call me back when they are coming my way.
The next call was for the 17th of June. I called back to be told that they don't deliver on Sundays. I called again everyday to see if a new time had been set. On June 22, I was told it will be delivered anytime between 8:00 am to 10:00 am. I called to say that no one had showed up. Then, they said, "Oh, it is a range from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon." We talked my mom and dad into buying the Sleep Number bed. They sold them two sets of sheets. They only had them about a year and it was like the material had a defect. When you pulled it to put on the edge, it just tore in half. I told them to take the sheets into the location in Amarillo where they bought the bed. They took both sets in and the gentleman got new sheets for them and then said, "I have to call my manager." The manager said, "I am sorry. There is a 6-month guarantee on the sheets." The bed, both sheet sets, mattress pad cover and something else they talked them into getting and putting on the bed because my mom sweats so bad, cost them a fortune. I will not be telling anyone to buy a Sleep Number bed again. I am very disappointed that this happened. I purchased the bed for my husband three years ago, and we have nothing but problems with the bed, from the remote to the framework in general. My biggest complaint is there is no customer service when there are problems. I was told by an employee to go get my neighbor to help me. I am 75 years old and unable to get down on the floor to see or repair the problem. Needless to say, I was very angry. The bottom line is, after just three years, I have thrown the bed into the junk pile. The last thing to happen was the plastic panels that were replaced. I paid for it, and it was installed by an outside contractor from The Sleep Number Company. They were not installed properly, and the bed collapsed during the night. My husband is a heavy man and disabled, but he is within the total weight level.
It took me over 15 minutes to get him out of bed with the help of a rehab strap. Please note that out of the last years, he has spent approximately 9 months at different times in a rehab unit. He is the only one who slept on the piece of junk. The company had just replaced the air pump and the remote, which were never installed, as I was unable to get down to unplug and plug in the new pump. But it wasn't needed, as the bed has been destroyed. I would say over $2,000 for a bed for three years is kind of pricey. I would never recommend this bed to anyone.

We purchased our Select Comfort bed about 12 years ago and I have not had a great night's sleep since. The only time I get a decent sleep in this bed is if my husband is away for the night. In that case, I set both sides the same and I am able to sleep without fighting not to roll onto his side. This bed is like sleeping on a water bed. You will roll toward your partner if they out weigh you, even if both sides are set the same. I like my side firmer than my husband does and it's like perching on a hill. I have to do a balancing act just to stay on my side. I wake up most mornings with a backache and a headache. Sleep Number (Select Comfort Corp) needs some major help. Our order was bungled every step of the way. We visited a Sleep Number company store because the spouse and I like different mattress firmness. But I also toss and turn a lot which can be tough to tolerate, so we also wanted to buy two twins and put them side-by-side. The salesman told us that would be an expensive solution and calculated how much we would save by sticking with a king. What a mistake. Don't buy this brand if you are easily awakened by your spouse's movements.
After 2 weeks of miserable sleep, we called to arrange returning the bed under the no-risk trial offer and that's when the 800# rep told us the salesman neglected to mention the 'split king' option. This version is two side-by-side twins that share a motor, so it's only about $100 difference versus the bed we were sold. We agreed to exchange our king for the split-king and paid the upcharge. We were told the replacement bed will be expedited and will arrive in a few days. I thought that sounded a little fast, since the first bed took nearly 3 weeks to arrive - they claim to make each bed to order but I think the company just needs that time to fumble along.
We waited and waited but still had no word on our replacement. After nearly 3 weeks, I called and was told our order was hung up in the accounting dept for some unknown reason. It hadn't even been processed yet and I barely got an apology from the rep. We'd have to wait another 3 weeks or so. We decided that more empty promises weren't worth waiting for and arranged for the bed to be returned as originally planned. The price to return it? $200 to have them pick it up (or ship it yourself and save perhaps $20 if you can find some big boxes). Ouch! Added to the original delivery fee, this is one expensive 'no risk' trial offer. A Sleep Number bed may be fine for some people, but good luck if something goes wrong buying, maintaining or returning it because these folks are lost.

Arbitrarily re-sets to a rock hard setting during the night - We purchased our Sleep Number bed about 3 years ago and for about 2 years, it was OK. Now over the past year, we have been having problems with it, but of course, it is not under warranty and the store where we bought it said to contact the company. But we haven't had much luck contacting them either. We are going to start shopping for a new mattress this weekend and get rid of the Sleep Number bed. If I had to do it over, I would never have purchased this bed and I would not recommend it. I expect to get more than 2-3 years out of a mattress.
The main problem we have had is the bed doesn't stay on the same setting throughout the night. It arbitrarily resets itself to some other number, usually much harder than what I set it on, and I wake up very stiff and sore from this. My perfect number is 45 or 50 and my husband likes 50 or 55. I typically go to bed about an hour or two before he does. When I go to bed, I put my side on 45 and my husband's on 55. When my husband comes to bed, my side resets to 90 or 100 and I wake up and can't get back to sleep. I try resetting the number to where it should be and the remote "says" it is on 45, but the bed still feels hard as a rock. This happened again last night and I am sore! I have enough problems with stiff back and neck without the bed doing this to me. The couch in the living room is more comfortable and I've had to go for weeks at a time sleeping out there because I can't stand the rock-hard sleep number bed.
My husband doesn't experience this because his side is still comfortable so this has become a source of stress and argument about whether to get rid of the Sleep Number bed before I have to spend another night like this (me) or whether to keep trying to fix it and not waste money on a new mattress (him). The other problem we have had is that over the past year, it gradually sank down so it feels like your head is going down and your feet are up. We can't turn it around because of the way the pump is set up. If I sleep with my head going down, I wake up with a massive headache and sinus congestion. And again, this is not something that I expect from a bed, to wake up feeling worse than when I went to sleep. So now when I do sleep on this bed, I have to put my head at the foot board.

I bought my Sleep Number bed in 1997, long before they were called that. Before that, I used to sleep three hours/night and wake up unable to stand up straight. I took a risk buying this bed based on a fellow nurse's positive response. For me, it turned out to be a godsend. I told everyone I knew that I would take a mortgage out on this bed as it truly saved my life. Over time, it developed a slow leak on one side and I would have to inflate it maybe once every two weeks.
I recently went into Maplewood Mall, MN to help a friend buy her Sleep Number bed and they offered me the fix for my leaker by plugging it with a cap. I figured, what the heck, the bed is 14 years old, I will try anything. I knew they had mold issues with the older beds after national and local news stories. I am in St Paul, near the headquarters in Plymouth, MN. I checked my mattress and pad often and never saw a thing brewing. I had checked the foam topper a month and a half ago when painting my bedroom and all was good, no black mold at all. So last week when I went to cap the leaker, I pulled it apart and lo and behold the dreaded black mold.
I had read the complaints and figured I would get nowhere with customer service. I was prepared for a battle but in the end it was slick as it could be. The foam pad and air mats came about a week later at no charge and included pre-paid postage to return the air mats. I just wanted to send my positive experience out there. It sounds like they have enough consumer complaints out there. Again, I was surprised by the ease of return and prompt replacement due to the mold. I would still take out a mortgage on this bed. I am a staff nurse and work long hours with a bad back and again, this bed truly saved my life. Just glad the bed was bought in my name, not the ex's as it would have been useless if it was in their name. Best of luck to you all out there. I agree this bed is not for everyone but for me, I am blessed.

When I called to return it, they told me there will be a $199 pick up charge or else they would send me a return slip for $29.99 and I could pack it up myself - no boxes provided. I opted for the $199 just to get it out of here. It was $169 to have it set up. So I'm out $368 just to have the privilege of sleeping on an air mattress for a month, not to mention the month long of headaches and the two days I had to stay and wait for the set up/take down people.

I can't speak of the quality of the current products or the usefulness of customer service, but I am planning on purchasing a mattress for my child's room and intend to make it a Sleep Number bed, avoiding all of the upsells that appear to be pushed by the salespeople. They add nothing to your sleep experience.
For anyone looking, 1) buy the least expensive model that meets your needs. Extra layers of memory foam and padding do not make an air bed better. Massage functions will never meet your expectations as well. 2) Double check all of the connections. Any leaks we have had were because a hose wasn't plugged in properly. 3) Buy a standard mattress frame. They are inexpensive and work just fine (at least on the 1997 model!) And 4) Read the fine print! The warranty is 2 years plus another 18 years of diminishing coverage--This is not a true 20-year warranty. Also, finance agreements are designed to push up your price even when they say "free financing." Avoid them and a lot of headaches!

I have been dissatisfied ever since we purchased this bed in 2010. It was supposed to help my husband who has had three back surgeries. Now, I have constant back pain. I've adjusted and I've brought a new thicker pad, but nothing works. The bed is lopsided and seems to deflate. I went on vacation and slept like a baby and had no back pain in the morning and could walk throughout the day. Back at home, I can only walk or stand for short periods because of the constant pain. My husband just returned from travel and said he slept great on a Simmons Beautyrest. We finally have just purchased another mattress.

I was told and they had an ad in the newspaper, "no finance charges or fees or interest". I paid $1200 initially and signed to pay the $3000 additional charges in a year without fees or charges. I paid the $3000 off after delivery.and soon started receiving bills from a bank, GE of Orlando. I called the bank on two different occasions and was disconnected both times without explanation. I went to the store where I made the purchase and was told by the salesman who sold it that he had made calls and he told me not to worry, they owed me a credit, not me owing them. The bills continued from the bank w/ late charges.
I went back to the store on two more occasions showing him the bill. He again reassured me that it was an error, "not to worry, it would be taken care of". I continued to receive billing so I wrote the bank, detailing the situation. They wrote back, "the bill and late charges should be paid". I contacted Sleep Number bed service. They would not give me explanation, just that I should pay my bills to avoid credit problems! It's not the size of the bill. It's the principle of being lied to and given the run-around.

I went to a Sleep Number store here in San Antonio and purchased a bed. I spent almost $2000. I didn't finance it; I bought it. I was told two weeks, since it had to be made. Three days later, they called to set up delivery. It was going to be on Wednesday, 4/18/12. They said they would call me later in the afternoon to schedule a time. They never called. I had asked for a Tuesday delivery day because I was off. There was not a Tuesday date available for at least 8 weeks (seems that they are not in the San Antonio area very often). I called the store and they gave me a number for customer service. They were so willing to just cancel the order than deal with it.
I called back the delivery company and they told me the best they could do was just drop it off and that was it. No set up. This was not good for me. So I called back customer service and cancelled my sale. Well, it is going to take 14+ business days to replace the monies back into my account. Funny, it only took 14 hours to take it out! To top it off, they took it out of my account in one lump sum and it will be returned in three different payments. **! I was online looking for a replacement bed because I know there are others out there and came upon this site! I really am glad that the purchase didn't go through. The last thing I want is a headache with black mold on it. I cannot thank you enough. So, thank you, thank you!

The Sleep Number bed is the worst piece of garbage I ever purchased and I would gladly recommend it to my worst enemies and Hitler. We purchased two twin mattresses about three years ago--one failed one and a half years ago. So as we were on warranty, we were told how to check what was wrong by phone--not a simple process.
Well, as it turned out, one of the bladders was leaking. We had to purchase another set from them and go through the expense of sending the faulty set to them. Of course, we had to set up the bed by ourselves. Within a year after that, the second mattress failed completely. Then, the repaired mattress started to list heavily to one side.
I called to tell them that I wished to have the mattresses picked up and returned. They had the nerve to tell me that the bed was out of warranty after three years! This, in my opinion, is the worst business it has ever been my displeasure to deal with. My advise is do not even consider buying one of these pieces of junk. I dumped the beds gladly to a land fill and will remain ever grateful to this site for permitting me to exact a degree of payback by revealing the truth about this awful firm and its awful mattress.

My husband and I bought a Sleep Number bed to try and improve our back pain in 2007. The first year, everything was fine and then I had to start calling customer service because the mattress was always uneven from one side to another. Customer service’s response was that I had to pay 149.00 dollars for a staff member to come to our house to check what the problem was. My answer was whether the mattress was 20 years of warranty, I did not have to pay anything and that the contract does not say anything about extra fees for changes or repairs.
Then in the following years until today, the mattress loses air all the time, the control to raise or lower the mattress does not work and we cannot see the numbers. The famous customer service response is that we have to pay for a new control and if we want to change the air chambers, we have to pay $349.00 plus shipping. My husband and I have put a dispute in the Court of Queens, New York because we thought that Sleep Number is deceiving people with a defective product and will not help anyone. If someone who is going through the same, should do the same. Put your dispute in court to stop this abuse.

Horrible company with terrible customer service! I have had a Select Comfort mattress for quite a few years. Upon ordering it, I was told that if I paid it off in 6 months, there would be no interest charges. I ended up being charged a lot of interest and was told they never said that, even though I had a witness! It was a real scam.
Now I tried to buy a new fabric cover as mine is worn and discolored. I was in shock when they told me the fabric cover would be $702.83! What the heck! Are they insane? When I questioned it, I was told it was "the most intricate part of the bed". You've got to be kidding me! I sew and stated that it wasn't "intricate" at all. Then they said that the little "pillow top" part is very intricate and expensive to do! Hello! I told them I buy the pillow top mattress pads for my regular mattresses all the time and they're about $100.00, again with the word "intricate". I told them to forget it and that it was Tempur-Pedic time. Select Comfort is a rip off! Big time!

We have had it in for service on numerous occasions, and the best solution the RV service department came up with was to cap the leaking bed. Finally, a new pump was ordered, but the pump was incompatible with our mattress and a new remote was needed. We had to purchase the new remote. When the new pump was installed, the bed deflated faster than ever. We have talked to customer service and even said we would accept a pro-rata refund on the bed so we could get a real mattress. Do not buy a Sleep Number bed. Poor product and poor aftersales support. I have had one 5 years, it never stays up. The salesperson lied to me and told me they would send out someone anytime it goes wrong, not true. The salesperson was very unpleasant. Also, we were told that the parts were covered by 100% warranty. Not true either, it is only 60% and probably this reduces as time passes. I had one set of experts come and replace the fittings and mattress once. It did still leak and now I am being asked to try to find the problem. They said if it still leaked, it was because the neighbor has one and his remote was affecting my bed.
Now the support staff are saying that could never be true. Three lies so far and counting. It still leaked and all they are saying I now have to try to troubleshoot and they will only then send out the parts as we eliminate what might be wrong. If I know that I would have to mess with parts and troubleshooting, I would never have bought the bed. In summary, the bed has never held air all night. Staff are not very truthful when it comes to selling the product and if the experts cannot fix it, they blame the neighbor's remote control.

Marital Sleep Solution: This Sleep Number 5000 Mattress did save us from a bed that was entirely too firm. We don't agree on the exact firmness of the mattress so that solved a marital disagreement for us but only symbolically. We cannot complain because we can make adjustments if we please.
Sleep Number Hijacking:The remote control responds properly and does a good job of resetting itself. Unfortunately, someone moved into our neighborhood with a similar bed or a remote with the same frequency. They can control our bed! Imagine your Sleep Number changing from 30 to 90 at about 4:00 in the morning. That is sleep hijacking as far as I am concerned. We put up with it for a while.
Customer Support Unresponsive to Valid Problem: When we finally called the Select Comfort, we expected the Sleep Number hijacking problem to be solved simply and quickly. Instead, we heard that we should just unplug it and it should reset itself. We told the customer support representative that we had done this many times and it does not work. She said that she had never heard of our problem before. We got no further help beyond that. I think not being able to control my sleep number is a valid problem that should not be dismissed by the company.
Sleep Number 5000 Expensive: These beds are not a good value. I don't experience proper back support for my money. There are essentially 2 narrow air channels surrounded by sponge materials inside the mattress. The bed sheets on the extended queen mattress are impossible to find. The ones we were forced to purchase from Select Comfort were pricey.
Useful Materials: I like how you can unzip the top of the mattress to clean it if you have to. The fabric and the materials are of decent quality. I am pleased with that aspect of the mattress.

Hi Crystal, thank you for sharing your concern with us. We think it is really important to know that while situations like this are rare, common household mold can occur in any mattress or piece of upholstered furniture under certain conditions. Mold spores are present in ALL outdoor and indoor environments. Our testing revealed common household mold levels were in each case lower than mold levels typically found in normal outdoor air and were generally lower than or comparable to mold levels found within buildings with good air filtration systems. We have been advised by independent experts that for consumers with mold allergies to be affected, the mold spores must be airborne or otherwise come in direct contact with the consumer, and this does not appear to be caused by our product.
For further information related to mold, we invite you to visit www.sleepnumberfacts.com where you will find the latest information concerning steps Select Comfort has taken to ensure its products remain mold-free. Credit card in hand, I came very close to purchasing a $2099+ closeout bed from the Select Comfort website and found the manner in which this company advertises and represents its products is at best misleading. The bed in question was represented as a "closeout" and on the info page it indicated the 30-day in-home trial.
When you go to "Learn more", this 30-day trial does not cover "limited editions". The bed is listed as iLE. Just before placing the order, I asked about this to ensure the 30-day period was in play and was told that this bed was in fact a limited edition bed (iLE) and not eligible for the 30-day period. When I asked the sales rep where on the website this is indicated she was unable to find it. I was then bounced to customer service and asked/explained the situation. After some looking, the customer service rep also could not show me where this was and that the policy was to allow only for an exchange.
Not wanting to pay $2099+ without a 30-day trial, and when they, in fact, could not show me where this bed was indicated as a "limited edition", I asked them to honor their advertisement and allow me to purchase the bed with the 30-day period. He put me on hold, checked with his boss who found one place on the site that links this to a limited edition bed and basically said "Sorry".
I feel that since the sales staff and customer service rep could not find this, that the consumer is left with, at best, misleading information. Only after going to a third person could they locate the information. If they couldn't find it, neither will the consumer. Clever. The fact that I was ready to buy the bed seemed to make no difference to this company. I have to wonder what other clever way they are misleading the consumer.

You will also find general information concerning the health impacts of household mold. Full customer satisfaction is a top priority for Select Comfort. I am so upset with the Sleep Number bed. Their product is poorly manufactured and the company service is horrible. My bed worked well for the first 2 years, but started having problems after. I contacted the company thinking that my warranty would cover the issue. Surprisingly, they told me that they will not send out a service technician and that I have to work on it myself but that they would be generous enough in guiding me through the process. Let me tell you what a nightmare that was. I gave up and ended up hanging the phone on them. I am so disgusted with them.

I purchased a brand new Sleep Number queen bed in 2005 or 2006 and within two years time, the display on the remotes began to fade. While it didn't initially effect the performance of the bed, I was unable to see what I was adjusting the inflation to. About a year after that, the display disappeared altogether. I called customer service knowing the bed came with a warranty and was promptly told that the warranty is for the bed (not the remotes and pump); however, they'd be happy to send a replacement at a pro-rated cost. After spending nearly $5,000 for this bed, I certainly wasn't about to put more money into it. Just this weekend, the pump has now died all together and the bed is slowly deflating. Needless to say, the bed is not absolutely useless. There is no sense wasting my time calling their customer service again. They're not about to provide any sort of customer service other than to request an even high prorated amount now for a replacement pump and controllers. Consumers beware. Don't by a Sleep Number!

I have been in possession of a sleep number bed for less than one year and have had nothing but problems with this bed holding air. I am on my fourth pump and 2nd bladder on the side that deflates to zero every single night. I have done everything asked of me to figure out what the problem is with this bed.
Bottom line, I am fed up with ending up sleeping on a slope and waking up with back pain. Heck, I purchased this overpriced bed in hopes that it would decrease or minimize my pain and inability to get a good night sleep. All I have gotten is "you are past the return time and we will figure out what the problem is". They even said on this last pump that they would put the pump through quality assurance to guarantee that it works. Really? Why not do that with the product in the first place?
Anyway, this bed still does not hold air and when capped off is fine. Needless to say, I have had to resort to sleeping on my couch which is now breaking down. Couches are for sitting not sleeping on every night. I just want my money back so I can go back to a normal mattress. Is there anyone out there that can assist? I feel ripped off!

I have two of these beds. I was happy for about a year with the first one. Then it began to deflate. First in a week’s time and then overnight. The company response was useless. So each night before bed I need to fill the mattress before going to sleep. And in the morning, the bed has lost about 15 numbers from deflation. And it goes. I have sent $4500 on these two mattresses and feel like I was ripped off. No solution other than to move on. But if a class action starts up I want to be the first signature.

After owning this bed for less than a year it rapidly lost air on one side. After using the owner’s manual and talking to a customer service rep, I did everything to troubleshoot but to no avail. I had hoped they would send a tech to rectify the matter but was told that they don't do that and expect the user to fix the problem. They can send a set-up tech for $180 plus and then they don't carry parts. They send any required parts to you and expect you to fix your own bed. Trust me, the bed isn't that great to justify this shabby customer service and lack of support. I will tell anyone who will listen: do not purchase a Sleep Number bed. It’s overrated to the ninth degree!

I like a firm bed and my husband likes a soft cocoon type bed. After searching for over two years, we decided on a sleep number bed. We have owned our queen sized double chamber sleep number bed for five years. We have a small to medium sized dog, and grandchildren, who love to lay on it and watch TV. We get a lot of power surges in our neighborhood, and it is recommended that the pump be plugged into a power strip. I began to notice my side deflating a little. I went to pump it up, and my control was blank, and my husband's lit up, but would not work either. I just called customer service, and they are sending not only a new pump, but new upgraded controls and new tubing.
They charged my credit card only $117 for parts under the warranty (100% is only for 2 years, and we have had our bed for 5 years, so it is a discounted warranty of 36%), tax and shipping. The lady I dealt with was extremely helpful, and is a pleasure to talk to. She emailed me directions and a receipt. I actually had them, before I got off the phone with her. We will receive our new parts in 5 to 7 business days, and I have the UPS tracking number, so I can track it. I love it, and it is the best investment!
When we took it apart to troubleshoot we found no mold, signs of wear, or any of the other things. I have read about one here. I do, as it recommends in the owner's manual, and leave the covers back, while I shower and get ready in the mornings, before I make it up for the day. I have always done this to air out my beds, first thing in the morning. I love my bed!

Inside of a year, the mattress cover zipper broke and the foam pad underneath became ripped. The bed worked great for the first couple of months and then went downhill. A call to the company provided no relief whatsoever. We spent almost $3,400.00 dollars and we had to use duct tape to keep the bed together as the bolsters in the bed would not support the air mattresses. I wrote early with the same complaints as the others. Since this was my boyfriend’s, I was only looking to resolve the comfort problem and fortunately this site popped up. I arrived home this evening to ask him to please pull the bed apart. He did not know why, I was hoping to not find the mold. Unfortunately, the bed was covered in black mold. That explains my recent respiratory issues that started about 6 months ago.
After spending a few months sleeping in his bed, I will never forget the first night going to his house to sleepover. Grant you, I have never in my life had an allergy but I could not stop sneezing and coughing, I thought I must be allergic to something in here. That's weird since I have never had an allergy. I also felt bad as I said to him, “your room smells like mold.” He said he did not smell it. I had to sleep with the window open because I felt as if I were suffocating. He thought I was over reacting as I thought he was just used to the mold smell in his room. After today, I’m relieved to have read this and discovered it now before we were highlighted on the next episode of 1,000 ways to die.

I recently moved in with my boyfriend whom unfortunately owns a Sleep Number bed. I am a very fit woman who sleeps great and has no aches, pains, chronic illness or injury. I have been complaining to him every night, waking all through the night with numbness from the top of scalp all the way down to my toes. I had such a massive back pain that I was practically temporarily disabled. He thinks it's me as his side does not have the problem mine does. We always cuddled so close in my bed. I woke up happy and well rested. Now, I wake up angry and riddled with pain. He can't cuddle me because I will fall into what I call the crack of hell. I smell the mold I feel sick and I feel like I have respiratory problems.
I'm a respiratory therapy student and have noticed a change in my pulmonary function since consistently sleeping in this bed. "Sleep ha, ha, what a joke!" I looked forward to he and I have a happy life together and everything is great with the exception of this bed which is enter fearing with my entire life. I feel angry, I'm in chronic pain, I get no sleep and I feel sick. All of these symptoms are upon waking and last a few hours. I'm wondering how long it will be before I end up permanently miserable. I have asked him several times to please buy a new bed however it is hard for him to believe I have all of these problems since he does not have them on his side and he swears he bought America's number one bed. I can't wait for him to read all the people who have the same complaints as me. If we could afford to, I would buy a new bed. But since I can't and he has no room for me to bring my bed, I may have to move out or sleep elsewhere a couple of nights a week just to get a good healthy night’s sleep.
I hope this company gets sued and all of the people who have been affected and life interrupted by the purchase of this Demon bed are compensated. I don't believe in class action law suits or civil for that matter, but after reading so many of the dissatisfied consumers blogs. This company should pay or at least be put out of business. Someone please investigate.

We were involved in the tornado in Joplin. One of our first replacement items were a select comfort bed. Started to have issues right off. Called the company and someone in the company told us that we did not purchase the bed and it was not on their records. We had to make numerous purchases with replacing our damaged items and checked with the credit card company.
The credit card company told us that Select Comfort did not bill us properly, they only billed us for the base of the bed which was about $3500.00. So I called back Select Comfort to give back the entire bed. Select comfort told me that they only wanted the mattress and let me keep the base. The base was no longer good to me, and I needed to replace the entire bed. I think it was Julie from Select Comfort who left a nasty message on my phone and Select Comfort will resolve this issue.

We have had a king size dual chamber Select Comfort bed since 2002 with no issues at all, and only wonderful things to say about comfort. In fact, many times we made comments about how it was one of the best investments we ever made for our home.We have been very happy with the bed itself. I have arthritis in my spine and hips, and it is absolutely a blessing to be able to change the firmness or softness of my side of the bed, depending on my pain levels which are also greatly affected by the weather and other circumstances. My husband prefers a firm bed on most nights.
When we purchased the bed, we did not even opt for the number control, and did not rely on any specific number. I just adjusted by how good it felt, and really have been very happy.Recently (after 10 years of use), my side started to lose air. We pulled the bed away from the wall to check for leaks in the valves, and using soapy water looking for bubbles around the hoses, we found no problems. So we unzipped the cover and opened the bed to check to see if there was any poked holes in the chamber from something we may have caused.
By the way, there was no mold or other dirt or dust in the chambers, only some light breaking down of the charcoal colored foam side wall inserts where I always sit on the edge of the bed. The zipper worked fine. No problems. While the bed was open, my husband sat down quite abruptly on one of the chambers, and the fabric actually popped and then tore. We were a bit surprised... "Oh- oh" what did we do? So he ripped a bigger hole in it and looked inside to see some places where the fabric lining outside or inside coating was thinning. We took the now-flat air chamber out, he put his full air chamber on my side of the bed, and we brought the twin sized spring mattress from our guest room on his side to use temporarily.
Again, this is after 10 years of no problems. You wouldn't expect to buy a car and have all of the parts last for 10 years. Even my dishwasher had parts that broke after 8 years. Wear and use are normal, especially for something you use 8 hours a day 365 days a year. Plus, we usually watched movies in the bedroom, played with our pets, played video games, our bedroom is more of a living room for us than our living room is. That bed gets a lot of people-time on it, plus our pets sleep on the bed also. But of course we had to call customer service and order a new chamber. After 10 years, I didn't know if we still had a warranty or not.
We were greeted on the phone with a very friendly sales rep, "Elizabeth". I was surprised to know I was still under warranty, and they still had my information, address, etc. on file. She was very helpful, applied my warranty discount to my new chamber, upgraded my shipping to two-day delivery, and then held the order until I could do a bank money exchange to pay for it. My chamber, shipping and all came to about $100.25. Excellent! I thought I would have to pay a small fortune to replace the chamber. I had no idea what they would cost when I called them, I only knew I loved the bed, and do not want to go back to a regular spring mattress.
It's only been couple of days but I am waiting for delivery. It will likely show up tomorrow. We also ordered the two side wall foam inserts just to refresh the stability of the edges of the bed. That was under $20.00 plus $8.00 shipping. I have no doubt that this replacement chamber will be wonderful for the next 10 years or more.I told Elizabeth I read these consumer complaints, and that I would come on and tell my happy story. Most people don't want to hear the happy stories, but mine is the truth, and I am very happy we have a Select Comfort bed. I have recommended them to family and friends, and quite frankly, I'm spoiled. I really miss it when we are traveling and have to sleep in a hotel bed. I think they should put them in hotel rooms everywhere, and let people try them out. They would probably double their sales. I love it.

If you like and need a soft mattress, you will not get it with the sleep number. Rather, firm and saggy are your choices. My husband likes it because he likes firm. I'm sad that the bar in the middle had halted our cuddling life. You will need to sleep strictly on your own side of the bed with a sleep number. I actually worked for Select Comfort for 4 and a half years. I had a bed that was losing air. Read the warranty! It is an air mattress plain and simple. If you have a problem, you open the bed up and work on it yourself. Seriously, the warranty is not like a car--you fix it yourself! And the warranty only covers the bed for 2 years. Don't let them lie to you and say it is a 20-year warranty; it is 2-year warranty. On year 3, if the little pump fails you are out about $200. And they make you open the bed and cap the chambers for 2 days to make sure it is the pump. Then if it is the pump you replace it yourself.
They don't have people that can come out and look at the bed. What kind of ridiculous warranty is that? Read it before buying. And a 30-day trial is ridiculous; it takes 30 plus days to get used to a new sleep surface. This is all coming from a former Select Comfort store manager. Going over the ridiculous 30-day trial you will be stuck with this air bed. Warranty is good for basically 2 years, and you will fix the bed yourself.

Both air mattress chambers failed in exactly the same manner: crack in the plastic connector underneath the black O-ring. In addition, the inflation numbers on the individual controls have long since faded out so that they are unreadable. The bed itself is only mediocre with regard to sleep comfort. Certainly not worth spending premium prices for the bed. Given the nature of the mattress failure, I don't think that one should have to pay for mattress chamber replacement since I consider it a product defect. The service rep knew exactly what I was talking about, leading me to think that this is a common failure cause--something that could easily be prevented by using better quality connectors. Given the cost of the bed, one would logically assume that it is made up of high quality parts. That would be a foolish assumption. I do not recommend this bed. Save your money. Let me know when a class action lawsuit is filed.

Within 5 days of our bed arriving, my better half had two bites on her collar bone. Two days later I had two bites: one on my stomach and the other rear deltoid.
We didn’t want to believe that our new bed arrived infested, but after additional bites this confirmed our fears and disgust. I called Sleep Number customer service and spoke to Nick. He spoke to two different supervisors and both times returning to the phone with Sleep Numbers advice: call Orkin because were not responsible. I then spoke to James who is the customer service case manager and he told me the same thing: not Sleep Number’s issue; not responsible; call Orkin. I asked James, if I get Orkin in to spray our once clean home, will Sleep Number pay for it? James said no.
Unbelievable! I’m losing my mind. I got Sleep Number’s president and CEO Bill McLaughlin’s direct number and left three messages. Three days later, Keith called back and told me Bill McLaughlin was doing other things and doesn’t deal with the customers directly. Why not? I went through the whole thing again with Keith and the response was the same: your bed, your problem. I stated at the very least Sleep Number should pay for getting rid of the bugs: “Nope, sorry, not our problem. We watch for bugs. They can’t be from us. It’s your problem, though.” So I spoke to the first line of customer service defense to the top office of the President and CEO and what I found was a really low integrity company with crappy customer service, not to mention a bug infested product. Worst company. Don’t buy from them.

I also am trying to return the bed to them via UPS and bill the receiver (Select Comfort). I am blazing angry over this. My parents have been taken advantage of several times over the past year or so, until I stepped in and put a stop to it. I am recording my DPOA with our clerk of court so it will be public record. We have had our queen with the individual "number" sides for about 2-1/2. For over 1 year now, it seems we roll into the middle and our "numbers' are about the same. Now, the air pressure doesn't seem to remain on the settings; we put it on even just 24 hours earlier. One day, my side near the bed railing seemed to be too firm. The remote showed a setting of 100 while in the middle of the bed, I could feel the base through the air chamber. We bought the bed because I had been experiencing some major back issues and a newer mattress we had was just too firm.
I tried a "tempurpedic" type of solution but, after a couple of years, it didn't seem to "bounce" back. We had experienced a Sleep Number at a hotel and thought it was very nice and my sister-in-law has one she likes. We decided to spend the money and now, my back has been in dire straits for months and requires medical attention. I was going to complain to the company but saw this site and read through many of the complaints regarding the product and the "20 year" warranty.
It appears I am experiencing many of the same problems so many other consumers are having with the Sleep Number product. I am dreading what I will be up against when I have to contact the company. At the cost of the product, one would think you would be dealing with a reputable company. The worse thing I have facing me is telling my husband that we may have just thrown out a great deal of money. From my experience to date and after reading what the others have written, I would advise a "Buyer Beware" notice be posted with this product. This is not a "fake" review. If there ever is a class action law suit, count me in.

To Molly of Portland, OR! The mold issue that you speak of is a thing of the past. The people who are complaining of mold have older beds. Yes, they used to have an issue with mold but they have fixed that issue and now, everything is treated with anti-microbacterial stuff.
There should be a huge thing on mold on that site and explaining about the mold, which is a common household mold that you even get in your innerspring mattress. I have opened up my innerspring mattress before and guess what? There was mold in it and a lot of it. I just wanted you to see the facts on the bed before you just base your decision solely of what people say.
There have been no known cases of mold since 2005 when they started treating the chambers and people who owned a bed before the date they fixed the issue. Yeah, well they get free replacement parts: Chambers, foam, covers. Anything that touched the mold or has mold on it will be replaced at no charge to the customer plus the warranty on the bed is amazing, better than the warranties of other beds. It's 2 years full coverage and then it prorates after that.

I purchased a sleep number bed, that is 3 years old. About 1 years ago, the remote display started going out and now is unreadable. Have to pay for a reman. pump since the remotes are hard wired. The pump has a 1 year warranty and the bed 20 year warranty, the pump is the bed. The wireless pump seems to have problems too. Just for the record, these older remotes are not hard wired. If you open the remote case, you can see the cheep electronics and they are plugged into the cable with a simple jack, if you can put batteries in your TV controller, you can fix the remote.
So why do I have to pay for a pump when I should get the control heads for free. I'm an electronic tech for any years, I can tell sleep number took the cheep way out on these controls, cost on the high side $ 5.00 per unit. What I paid for this bed all should be covered under the 20 year warranty. The pump doesn't run all the time. So it alone should outlast the warranty. Poor quality control and Engineering support. P.S. I guess now that mentioned, I opened the remote, my warranty is void.

My husband and I recently stopped in at a Sleep Number store in our local mega mall out of curiosity from the ubiquitous TV commercials. We happened to get the regional manager as our sales representative, so we got the Full Monty (he actually used that phrase once)! We were interested in two mattresses, a twin and full, as we sleep separately (our secret to 35 years together). We are on a fixed income and no credit to speak of, so we’re thrilled to learn about their no-risk layaway program. We left with all our brochures, a printed quote, and would take the time to make our decision in the New Year.
When I mentioned our experience to our daughter-in-law, she told me about the mold problem, so I decided to go online to see if it was just a rumor. I guess not! Since most of the complaints were 3+ years old, I kept looking. Then I found this site and I'm glad I did! I know that people who are satisfied are much less likely to post than dissatisfied people, but the number of unhappy people here are beyond what I would expect, and the dates of the posts are very recent.
I can tell most of these folks are not the usual complainers, those who are seldom happy with anything they buy, or who don't want to accept their responsibilities as informed consumers. If so many people have problems with the top-of-the-line mattresses, it follows we'd be asking for trouble only being able to afford the bottom of the line! We'll save up for six months what we would have spent for the layaway program and take our cash to a reputable local mattress company. I've been on a Sealy Posturepedic for 5 years, past its 10 year warranty, and I still have comfortable nights snuggled in my "trench"!
Thanks to all who took the time to post. We won't be purchasing beds with so many "moving parts"! You've saved us a lot of grief! One thing nobody mentioned: what if the power goes out for an extended period? How would we adjust our bed(s) then?

After neck surgery in 2001, to help with my pain, we bought a select comfort bed and loved it. In 2004 (maybe 2005), my husband and I were both having sleeping problems. He has RLS and also sleeps with a CPAP. So we bought a second bed for him. When I bought my daughter the select comfort bed last year, my husband is having a lot of back trouble so we got the adjustable part for his bed and they came and installed it. When they installed it, I was in the room and the tech told me they would have to send me new parts for the bed and he showed me all of the mold (this was the bed from 2005.) I was in shock and we checked my bed which is 10 years old and the mold terrified me.
I am a real estate agent and appraiser or at least I was until 2 years ago when various strange illnesses disabled me. I am well aware of mold and what it can do. Years ago, I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease and put me on chemo-therapy. I have been on one drug after another because no person has been able to treat my headaches, fainting, fatigue and one health problem after another. I live in a very small town and I am sure I will have to travel rather far to find someone to test me and so if there is a treatment they can do something. In the meantime, I will hire a professional mold inspector. I will find a doctor that can at least test me and I will find a lawyer that will help me.

I am writing to say that I am actually thrilled with my sleep number bed. I've had it for 4 or 5 years now. Before this bed, I changed my mattress to a Temperpedic due to back pain. I was still in severe pain and returned the Temperpedic for the Sleep Number thinking that I needed a firmer mattress. It turns out that the only thing that relieved my back pain was an extremely soft mattress. I would not have been able to know that with any other bed. I sometimes choose to firm it up, when my back is feeling good. I did have one issue with one of the sides wherein sometimes loosing pressure. They send me new air chambers for about $90. I have them in the box still as I've been too lazy to install them.
The original one does lose some air slowly on the left side but so far, I just keep adjusting the pressure every few months and it hasn't been bothering me too much. I'm just keeping the extra chamber in case the problem gets worse. I personally think that this is the only bed that anyone with back pain should be considering. It can adjust to anything that you need it to be. If your back pain doesn't go away with this bed after you try many settings then it's not going to go away with any bed.

The Sleep Number bed is a "rip off". It did nothing as advertised. After sleeping on it for almost 30 days, my back hurt worse. I bought a king-size mattress which sunk down in the middle after about one week. It kept losing air. No technicians are available to come to your home. I gave them a prescription from my doctor, which meant I was not to pay any sales tax on the bed. They charged me anyway and said they could not find the prescription even though the salesperson said he had received it.
I had to call several times to get them to pick up the bed. The papers were not sent from the customer service to the company that does the pick up. I was finally told and then someone expected me to call the "pick up" company. I should not have had to let them know that I do no work for the company so I could not call the "pick up" company. They make it seem that it is so easy to return the bed. But they charge a whopping fee to pick up. This was the worst purchase I have ever made. It is still in the experimental stage as far as I am concerned.
I am still in dispute with the company about the sales tax that I was charged incorrectly. In addition, they charge an inordinate fee to pick up the bed. No other company I have done business with has charged as much.

Sorry but I happen to love my Sleep Number bed. After waking up every day crying from back pain on my three year old mattress, I took my sister's advice and bought a Sleep Number. Best 3k I've ever spent! I have a single chamber queen, which has no sag like the split chamber, so I cannot comment on that. And, the Lyocell sheets are like sleeping in butter! The only issue I have is that two months after purchasing my ILE special edition for $2800, it is now on sale for $2400. They will only adjust pricing for 30 days so I'm out that $400, which, if you consider the 60+ days of real comfortable sleep, is a wash. It has deflated to 35 or less a few times but has been during power surges and blackouts. I just press the memory button and right back up to 55 it goes. Another non-issue there.

As for the remote, the display worked sporadically until we changed the battery. It is a standard 9v. The only problem we have found so far, is the chambers leaking. We are in the middle of "testing", and are not sure if we have to purchase anything if something is wrong. Although one month is a little soon for something to be wrong with the bed already. We purchased almost $4,000 sleep number bed for my husband who has had 6 back surgeries and was told a lot of bull about the bed or should I say not told a lot of things. We have had it a little over a year and had problems with it already. It got a lump in the middle of the bed and was soft all the time.
We call only to find out no one comes out, you have to order it over the phone. When we received, it is was nothing but an egg crate piece of foam. It took the lump out but the mattress still would not get firm enough for my husband and every time he goes to get out of bed, the side of the bed folds down and I have to get up and help him get out of bed.
It did not do this when we bought the bed and our sleep number was 40. We now have it on 100 and still it is not firm and folds down, so if he has to get up at night, he has to wake me up to help him get out of the awful bed. I also work full time and he is disabled which causes issues during the day.
I call the GE people who we send payments to every month and have now 2 times try to say our payments were late and charge us late fees when my bank shows they got them in time. They removed the fees. They also told me to call the sleep number store that we bought it at. I did. They said call another number and that their policy was only 30 days to return the bed. All we wanted to do was to have them take the bed back for what we still owed. Oh no! Then I was sent to customer satisfaction and was told the same thing. That I should call back when I am with the bed and they would instruct me over the phone! What kind of customer service is that?
They don't even have people employed to fix their own equipment which I must say is pretty faulty. This is a rip off company with misleading advertisement and the sales people who I am sure are trained to leave out the many facts of motors going out, batteries getting low and only egg crate foam in the bed. Never go into the store. It is not a good place to buy a bed. My husband and I are now stuck with a bed that does not work for him and will have to as I have read in other reviews, put it in a spare bedroom and spend more money on a reputable bed company.

I told the woman that did little to assuage my concern, as I've been struggling with chronic sinusitis for four and a half months and was on my 4th course of antibiotics. They said they would send a new foam pad and new air chambers "at no cost". But we had to leave the mold on the air chambers as is so we could send them back.

Hi Barbara, thank you for sharing your concern with us. You will also find general information concerning the health impacts of household mold. Full customer satisfaction is a top priority for Select Comfort. I love the bed. I had it for 5 years. But everyone’s complaint with the remote is dead on. I have the wireless one. I called customer service. They tried to sell me a new pump. Finally, I got through to them. All I need is a new remote. The second issue is the referral program. I referred my daughter and her husband. They bought one. I never received my $50.00 credit. I kept asking and they said it was coming. Well, I just got off the phone with Select Comfort. They told me it was rejected. I asked why. They couldn’t tell me. And now they say it’s been too long and they can't do anything about it and basically hung up on me. At this point, I’m not very happy. It’s not my fault it’s been too long. The remote is a joke.

I bought a full-sized dual chamber Select Comfort Bed in 2005. I knew 2 different couples who had Select Comfort Beds and they were both happy with their purchases so I bought one. I had problems with the trough effect that others complained about. I also had problems with some leakage. I was divorced after buying the mattress and I would end up sleeping in the trough or on my side across it. Now, one side loses pressure within 30 minutes to an hour and it is not the side that I sleep on. I would sometimes lay with my head and shoulders on that side. Now, with the one side losing so much air during the night, I roll into the deflated side and wake up hurting. I bought the bed because of back problems and I needed surgery on my back and both knees but I had an immunity problem that prevented me from having surgery.
When I got the paperwork out that explained the warranty, I saw all of the charges. I think it said 20% of the original cost of the mattress and 4% for each year since the date of purchase. I lost my job almost 11 months ago and I live alone without any help. I am trying to get Disability and right now I am living on some savings that I have, which are going fast. There is no way that I could afford to replace it and if I send it off like the instructions say, I do not have another bed to sleep on. I am very disappointed with their 20-year warranty. They do not tell you the warranty details when you buy it, only that it is for 20 years. I agree with the others that a class-action lawsuit should be done. From where I live, it would have been very hard to try to send it back after the 30 days. Also, 30 days does not give you long enough to tell. Most mattresses that cost this much will give you 90 days.

We bought a King SC classic about 9 months ago. Had no issues with it until we moved. The movers lost some important parts of the bed (pump, foam liners and bladders). so I requested quotes from SC for an insurance claim to replace them.
I was informed that after spending $1500 for the parts that they would only have a 2 year warranty. This means that a 1 year old bed with a 20 year warranty will only have an effective warranty of 3 years on the most important parts (which would be newer than the originals). When I questioned the logic of this, they responded with the, "Those are the terms of our warranty. Thank you for choosing Select Comfort".

I've had multiple problems since I purchased the bed about three years ago. First, the pump failed, and I had to test it for days; the replacement failed and they finally sent a reliable one. The remote control became so weak, the numbers disappeared, and I had to pay $60 to replace it. The new one is not designed any better: the display is weak, but when you tilt and rotate it at an odd angle, you can see the numbers. The dual air mattress sags in the middle, so it's uncomfortable for two people. The bed frame is cheap and ugly, and has to be covered with a dust ruffle to hide it.
I'm sleeping on an overpriced, uncomfortable bed. It is made up of parts that are of poor quality, and the bed is not any better or more comfortable than an inexpensive air mattress you can buy in a camping store. The warranty varies by part and time owned, but you pay a lot to replace parts. I would never buy this bed again, and do not believe this company is advertising in an ethical manner.

I would like to complain about all the complainers on this site. I was ready to buy my Sleep Number bed and came across the many bad reviews here. I always research thoroughly when making important purchases, and coming here put an halt to my intended purchase at the time. However, my sleep quality only got worse due to my inaction, and I started reconsidering Sleep Number one more time. Logically, the bed made sense for our needs. My wife and I don't like the same firmness in a bed. We compromised years ago on a BS diagnostic at the local mattress store that told us what our "perfect" mattress was supposed to be (picked the mattress right in the middle of our firmness preferences). This wrong mattress now had dips throughout the bed that give us back pain when we woke up, and also forced us to toss and turn to get comfortable. The SN bed was just so comfortable in the store and just made sense for all of our issues.
We decide finally, we could not take anymore of sleeping so miserably each night and decided to take the plunge. After all, the 30 night trial was somewhat of an insurance policy (and, for those complaining about it not being what it says it is,can you all not read? It is plain as day on your receipt which you sign on how it works and what you are responsible for. If you cannot understand the basic jargon, would it have hurt you to ask the associate? I guess some people think their signature on a legal document in no way contributes to their agreeing to what they are signing.) Well anyway, we love the bed. It does what it says it does. Period. Great product. Great value. But most importantly, great sleep.
For all those whining about the warranty coverage, I say the same as I do to the 30-day trial complainers: can you not read? And if you can read, and just disagree with Sleep Number's terms, why the hell did you sign for the purchase of the bed in the first place? Who's fault is that?
So I will continue to complain about all you idiotic complainers who prevented me from having the best night's sleep I've ever had because you didn't take the time or decency to value or understand what your signature means.
You people signed a purchase agreement, and are disagreeing with it now? Since you signed saying that you agreed, does this not make all of you liars? Stop preventing people from getting the sleep they deserve by trying to make them think your mistakes and acting as irresponsible consumers are the equivalent of Sleep Number being a disreputable company.
Sleep Number obviously helps people, and all of you are helping no one other than your bruised egos for having agreed to something you apparently never agreed to in the first place.

They told me that I would have to pay $29.99 each for 4 shipping labels and I would be responsible for the return shipping costs. This is an outrageous price for shipping labels that I refused to pay.
I ended up loading all four boxes in my truck and driving 50 miles to return the bed and frame to the warehouse. Also, they would not refund me for a mattress cover that costs $159.00. I had to go to the store and exchange it for something else in the store. I did not invest this much money in a bed and expect to put my time into fixing any problems. They informed me it would cost $175.00 for a technician to come out and look at the problem. When I looking at buying a Sleep Number bed, I was looking at an i8, the salesman pushed more towards the iLE which is supposed to be between the i8 and the i10. He never told me that according to Select Comfort it's not returnable. The bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever laid on. Where the air chamber is there are two sunken spots even when they are inflated to 100. I wasn't happy with the shipping cost or assembly of approximately 2 plus hours. The pump leaked down every night and every day. The salesman "Lee" came to my house on Sat. after it was delivered and assembled by me on that Tues. to bring a new pump. He was astonished at the sunk in spots and the quality of the mattress. He advised that this didn't look right.
After sleeping on the bed for 10 nights and my back hurting every morning and not sleeping past 4 am any morning, I contact select comfort to return this overpriced piece of junk. They informed me that special editions were not returnable. I hit the ceiling, this was not stated to me when I ordered the thing or I would not have ordered it. What is the 30 to 45 day trial period for? The salesman told me once I got a hold of him several days later that he would fix it no matter what it took. Well he has avoided me like the plague. He did advise me that there was a sign at the front desk, I told him that it was his responsibility as the store manager and a salesman to inform me of special stipulations such as this.
I slept on the mattress for 32 days and just couldn't stand it anymore and disassembled it and put it back into all 6 of the boxes. I have tried to call him many times and he is either sick, on vacation, on a conference call or just on days off. I got a call from him on the 35th day and he was going to Houston to a big meeting and he was to present my case to all his bosses, but I haven't heard from him since, 9 days now. Can a large corporation like this be so irresponsible as to make all these claims and TV advertisements and not back them up with good customer service as expected? I am still trying to contact the store manager but he won't be back for another day. The worst company I have ever dealt with in any situation.

We bought a king Sleep Number bed two years ago because of my lupus and fibromyalga. From the beginning, I can only tolerate the bed for a few hours before moving to my old bed. The bed we bought from Sleep Number hardly has any mattress cover. It is as hard as a rock and certainly doesn't fill in the spaces according to one's body. Around the sides and down the middle of the bed are pieces of foam making a well on each side for each person to sleep in. I wake up all tensed up trying to fight against the "well". That foam is the only soft part of the bed but it is only about 8 inches wide. Sometimes I get on the foam to get a little relief. I can't say this is the worst bed that I ever had. But I can say it's the second worst one I ever had. It doesn't matter if I put the control on 10 or 100. The bed still feels like a rock because of lack of a decent mattress cover. Today, I was searching on line because I wanted to see if I could get a replacement pump with remote cheaper than the company quoted $99. That's when I found out that tons of people were having my same problems- broken remote and middle of the bed sagging. I believe that both these things should be addressed by the company as they are product failures. At these parts replacement costs, you know that they are still profiting from their bad product design. That is unconscionable.
We will live with not being able to know what our two "Sleep Numbers" are, and with the middle of the bed sag because we do not have the funds to replace parts on a bed that will cost me even more to keep up down the road.

After numerous attempts to correct the poor quality of this product, I finally threw my bed in the garbage and had to purchase a new mattress. Each time I reached out for assistance, I was told I had to purchase this or that. I have replaced several parts but the bed continued to leak. I read a review that the bed was filled up to 100 and down to zero in no time. I experienced the same issue. I woke up several times every night to replace the air in the bed. I have been trying to get to the bottom of this and have been dealing with it for three years.
Several times, I have replaced O-rings and the plastic clips that attach the hoses from the machine to the bed, which I paid for. It is virtually impossible to locate the leak. The next step was to purchase a new pump, which I was quoted $450 and/or the mattress itself, which apparently is around $100 or more. It cost me less money to purchase a new mattress than to continue to replace each part until it was corrected. It is ridiculous to put this type of financial burden on people who feel they are making an investment that will last 20 years or more and have to constantly replace parts in order to get a good night's sleep.
This product is very expensive and I could have purchased a much better product with the money that was spent. The 20-year warranty is a joke and I see that many customers have reported the same problems and poor response from the company. The company does not stand behind its product and charges a substantial price for the product, only to have to replace several parts within a few years. A complete waste of money and it's completely obvious that I am not alone. I am furious about having to purchase a new bed and have finally given up due to major back and neck problems, as a result of sleeping on a bed that deflates.

I was reasonably happy with my side, but the LED displays on the controls began to "burn out" just at the 1-yr mark (as soon as the warranty expired, of course). Subsequently, my mattress has developed the same "trench" in the middle that other people have complained about.
When we called customer service, they told us we'd have to replace the entire pump & control assembly at a cost of more than $700! Even after several conversations with the company, their attitude was clearly, "tough luck, suck it up or buy a new unit". There is no customer "service" at this company and we feel ripped off. No matter what you say, they repeat the company mantra over and over. My husband and I, both seniors, prepared to hook up the new pump this morning. We took off the pillow top. We took off the foam and the air chambers below were wet. We went ballistic. We had been wondering and looking for a year for the musty smell in the bed. We constantly sprayed and washed our pillows to get rid of this musty smell. Well, we found it, under the foam. We never imagined it could be coming from the bed.
When I saw the air chambers, I actually got sick to my stomach, thinking about what we had been sleeping on. I called SC again and got such a runaround. It was unbelievable. I paid too much money to throw it out the door. But believe me, one more thing and out the door it will go. Presently airing out the bed completely, we will be sleeping on our couches tonight. We will probably strip the bed down to the air chambers once a month to make sure we do not have mold. We will certainly join in class action. However, I believe this is a very disreputable company and it may not be worth anything.

Yesterday, I went to Walmart and bought an inflatable full airbed for about $60 (one large air chamber with its own adjustable air control) and took out the two smaller Sleep Number chambers (it fit perfectly with the removal of the end baffle). A couple of years ago, I had separately purchased a memory foam top and put this on top. In one night, I have died and gone to heaven! What an easy and inexpensive solution!

It is where the hose connects (clips on) to the air mattress tube. I tried everything to fix it myself since the problem was so minor! But nothing is working, much to my surprise. I tried a new O-ring, Blu-Tack around the hose, and an electrical tape tightly around every crevice, making it virtually impossible for the air to escape--even superglue--but the air keeps coming out from somewhere! That's how I ended up here.
I was looking online for possible help for a home repair or replacement parts to buy. Well, as you all know, every site leads you to Select Comfort, where they give you that ** about paying a percentage! That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. And they rave about their 20-year warranty. I, too, was highly upset to see that they do not have a service team to come out and fix the problem! But as I have seen here, they would only charge you for an arm and a kidney.
Their suggestion is to pack up the defected part(s) and ship it back to be fixed. What? I have to take apart this monstrosity that weighs about 1,000 lbs, put it in a box and pay to have it shipped to them, only to pay to have it fixed and shipped back? No way! You know, I probably shouldn't divulge this information but in my case, I guess, you get what you pay for. I only paid for about half the cost before I defaulted on my credit. I ran into some financial problems and couldn't pay my other bills (i.e. SC bed). So I paid for half, and now I only have half a bed.
But, you know, in all honesty, I don't care! I would really rather be in debt than to have paid full price for this horror! I feel bad for all of you. I just got finished reading most of the testimonies here, and as I said, I really never had a problem until now. It is a minor problem but to hear that this company is a sham, is heartbreaking! They can eat the rest of the cost and call it part of our revenge on them.
I would love to go in on the class action suit but I have no idea how to go about starting one or what's involved and because I didn't finish paying it, I don't think it would be right for me to participate. They would probably turn around and come after me! Anyway, I am glad that I found this site for future reference and I hope you can all find solutions and some peace!

We bought a Sleep Number bed 4 or 5 years ago. The hand control just broke and now, we have to buy a whole new pump and hand control for almost $100. I am furious. Why should I, as a consumer, have to pay for their defective product, especially after spending several thousand dollars on this bed? This part should be replaced for free. I feel exploited and ripped off, and would not recommend this company to anyone.

Now, GE Money is constantly calling me at work saying my account needs attention, asking for over $2,000, which is incorrect. GE Money told me yesterday that I have to personally go to a Select Comfort store and straighten things out. Why can't Select Comfort "straighten things out" by themselves?

We had mold all over our Select Comfort bed about two years ago and trying to get Select Comfort to replace the bed pad was an uphill battle but it happened.
I just recently noticed mold on the pillows we use, which we purchased with the bed from Select Comfort. I called Select Comfort asking them to replace the pillows. The response was no! I asked to speak to a supervisor (no again).
So they won't replace a pillow--the place you lay your head and breathe mold. I have been to the doctor for headaches. This is something that needs to be addressed.

Hi Botkin, thank you for sharing your concern with us. We think it is really important to know that while situations like this are rare, common household mold can occur in any mattress or piece of upholstered furniture under certain conditions. Mold spores are present in ALL outdoor and indoor environments. My husband and I did many, many trips to the store at our local Mall before making our decision to buy. My husband recently lost both of his legs and has some paralysis due to some strokes. We purchased a twin for his bed and a queen for my bed, the Sleep Number p4. It is without a doubt the worst bed either of us have ever slept on.
I called the company and they have offered to send me a piece of additional foam to put in the bed, but seriously, should I have to be adding foam to a bed of this expense? We are so very, very unhappy with these beds. My husband and I are on a very limited income and to purchase these beds was a huge expense for us. This company should not be allowed to sell these beds. They are so dangerous. I have had severe back and neck pain since our purchase and I have never had back problems.

In a nutshell, we have had nothing but problems with our Select Comfort Mattress.
2. The zipper broke on the mattress topper after 3 years and we had to replace the whole topper at our cost.
3. The base pieces began to bow on the sides and in the middle, we had to replace those too.
4. The bed sags in the middle, so you always roll to the middle of the bed.
5. We wake up everyday with back pain no matter how many times we have tried to adjust the sleep number.
6. The bed sways, dips and creeks.
7. The customer service team is not helpful. All they do is offer replacement parts at my cost and we are not sure if the parts will fix the problems.
8. The store salespeople who sold us the bed were untruthful about the warranty and the lifetime expectancy of this mattress. They also told us this was allergen-free as my husband and I both have allergy problem. I think the mold potential should be explained to the customer.
We thought we were making a lifelong investment in this product and here we are, less than 8 years later, having to buy a new mattress. This mattress gave us 3 years of comfort, that was it. I have a 17-year old mattress/box spring in my guest room that we slept on for almost 10 years that still sleeps great. I guess the term "don't fix it if it isn't broken" truly applies here. I cannot believe there is not a class action lawsuit on the product, especially the mold problem. I have seen this complaint all over the web. I am allergic to mold and over the last 2 years, I have experienced bronchial issues. Luckily, we took the bed apart to see why it was dipping and saw the nasty mold. I have never had a mold issue with any of my standard mattresses before. Buyer beware should be posted on Select Comfort's website.

Our bed does not hold air on my husband's side and the remote control broke. We blow it up to 100 and within a minute, it is down to 0. Select Comfort told us to inflate the bed to see where the air chambers are leaking. Hello! The remote control was broken. So, my husband took the remote apart and had to solder parts back together to get it to work. He is 70 years old and has had two open-heart surgeries, eight stents, cancer, chemo, kidney removed, and much more. I am on dialysis. Neither one of us can lift this mattress to look at the air chambers.
Select Comfort does not stand behind their product and will not help anyone when their bed doesn't work! I am really angry that I spent $3,800 on this bed and can't get service or even a response from the company. One call to a customer service representative and I got pretty much the same response as the others on this page had received. I would have to spend more money to get a brand new chamber shipped to me. Even though I can see the area where the air is escaping, they only offered a new chamber as a solution. The Sleep Number bed is a piece of ** We paid about 4K for it, several years ago, because my wife likes a soft mattress and I, a hard mattress. It has a heater and we even got that stupid vibrator in the bed which was supposed to make it vibrate in a bunch of ways. We also got the thing that raises the mattress either F or B so we pretty much bought the whole shebang.
We wanted the best possible sleep environment as possible. Presently, my side doesn't hold air. A couple of years ago, the pump crapped out and we had to pay 3/4's the price for a new one. The bed is very cheaply made and the thing isn't worth one-fifth of what we paid for it.
It's a money-making scam and the service department sucks, too. It turns out that the owner of the company has a wood pellet stove company called Bixby Energy. And guess what? I have the stove, too. It's quite a stove when it works but it has to be watched 24/7 if not freezing to death is important to you. Both products are advertised extravagantly as if they were technical breakthroughs. The Bixby service/parts department doesn't exist as far as I can tell. There isn't a Bixby repair person within a thousand miles.
Anyway, don't buy the bed; its junk. It doesn't even come with head and footboard. I could have bought a whole bedroom set with a real mattress, for what I paid for this thing. "You get what you pay for" is no longer true!

I have a standard double sided queen mattress for a Murphy bed for many years at my vacation condo in Maine. It works okay (thus, my good rating), but as most all of you have noticed with the 2 chambers meeting in the middle, the dreaded "slump spot" is there. It's bearable but not what I like. I have just ordered a "single queen chamber" replacement bladder (from an aftermarket competitor) and will just put a "T" on the pump hoses. The old "bladders" are to be experimented with at home. Same idea with a "T and or 2 separate needle valves" and simple air compressor with low pressure gauge or manometer so I won't pop them. I will use a strap around both of the bladders to have them like it's one big mattress without the side foams (it will be like a double then, I guess).
I will let you all know how my experiment goes (or just sell the two old individual bladders for whatever I can get on eBay or use them for camping since they actually are quite durable feeling).

I selected this bed hoping that it would give us sleepful nights. When I saw it coming in the house in pieces of plastic, I started to wonder why it was so expensive. I tried to sleep on it but I was out of the bed most of the night! My back, legs and shoulders hurt so bad the next day I thought I had the flu. I ached all over. The bed was so low that I could hardly get out of it. When I did get out and looked at the bed, it looked like two sink holes. I then had to inflate up to 100 just to raise the bed so I could get out of it. What a piece of junk!
I called to tell them that I don't want the bed. "No problem," they said. However, I had to keep it for 30 days! I knew after five days that I have had enough! But I had to keep it for 30 days before it could be returned. Now, they came to take it and I got a bill for $530.00! "Oh sure, try it for 30 days and if you don't like it, return it," they say. Well, I tried it for five terrible, uncomfortable, sleepless nights and that was enough for me. I didn't know that it was going to cost me over $100 a night to "try" to sleep on it. They made their money even if I returned it. There is no way that this bed should cost over $2,000.00!
I had to pay for a set up when I received it, then I had to pay for shipping it back. Oh, and they had me check out this wonderful mattress pad cover that was so cool to the touch you would think it came out of the refrigerator. "They line space suits with this material to keep them cool," they said. Ha, what a joke. When we put it on the bed, we couldn't tell which was the correct side up. How come it wasn't cool at home? Another rip off that cost $250.00! I wonder why they didn't put that mattress pad on a bed to feel how cool it was? It was on a cardboard display. Buyers, beware!

I am currently again unable to sleep due to your air mattress bed. So I'd figure that I should share my grief (and how I wish I could have spent that wedding money on a better bed). My wife and I purchased your product, a queen size model QS29PSE, and from day 1 it has been a nightmare. First off, my wife and I discovered that we could not even sleep on our own side of the bed without being sent to the sinkhole in the middle of the bed. One of your representatives at a sleep store recommended that we pump the bed up a few times a week to get rid of the sinkhole.
To our dismay, we have been doing that (surprisingly, my cars do not require this much attention) to this day but we still deal with that. Secondly, I wake up with hip, knee and lower back pain (this includes experimenting with the different numbers a couple weeks at a time). My wife, who is now approaching 2 months pregnant, is having hip, neck and shoulder numbness (dealing with numbness for months) when she sleeps on her side. I am not impressed with going to the chiropractor to get adjusted only to get bent out of alignment the later in the day.
I really want a refund so I can get a better bed so we can sleep to be productive. I am really surprised at how others we run into who also were dissatisfied about your product. Truthfully, we do not speak highly of your product to our co-workers, friends, or family and tell them to not take the commercials seriously. We also purchased a mattress pad that controls temp (421279) and that did not fair well as we struggled with controlling bed temp at night. We took that off after a few months and it's a closet item.

Nothing helped.
Now, I am sleeping on a board, with no support whatsoever. At one time, my husband was giving testimonials on the radio regarding how "great" this sleep system worked for us. I can only hope that I'm asked to give a testimonial. I would never recommend this sleep system to anyone, not even my worst enemy. I have owned an i10 Split King Foam top adjustable sleep number bed for three months. It took a little adjusting to find the right number, but now my wife and I both love it. We have owned a number of beds from water to memory foam topped good quality mattresses. Our last one was a Memory Foam Topped King Air, and we thought it couldn't get any better. That is until now. It was great. This is heaven. We figured at our age this would probably be our last bed; so, we popped for the Select Comfort best. I don't regret the expense of a great sleeping bed, but do have one complaint.
Wouldn't you think a company with their stature and size, would be able to troubleshoot any problem an owner might have at no charge at least the first year? Not Sleep Comfort; apparently, once the bed is set up, and the installers walk out, you are going to pop down $169 if something is not right. At least that is the way it was explained to me by their customer service. Select Comfort has no field repair technicians. It is done through the installation people. Thus, you have a problem. You are going to pay to have it looked out. The mattresses shift off of the foundation by as much as 3/4 to 1 inch, and have to be pushed back on the foundation every morning. We worried about unnecessary and premature wear.
When I called customer service and explained my problem and concern, they said it would cost me $169 to schedule a repair call. When I asked how do I know this is due to a defect in bed, or the installation I was told it didn't matter. I still had to pay the repair fee this time, and every time I have a problem--even when the bed is only three months old. It's great to have a great, good looking bed, but the adage still hold true. This would not be so frustrating if it were explained at the point of sale that the warranty is strictly for the bed. Troubleshooting is going to cost me extra. A company is only as good as its service, and they need to rethink theirs. Just thought you should know before you buy. I didn't.

This means the "cost" of this zip up "bag" is normally $1000!!!! This is ridiculous.
The representative told me it is because it is all hand sewn, etc. I told her if it were such good quality, I wouldn't have had the zipper split out. I mean it has not been zipped or unzipped since the day it was installed! This is unfair and unethical business practices and I believe that Select Comfort is charging such high prices on "warranty items" that in fact they still garner a profit from the consumer after paying their percentage. I will never buy from them again and they should be investigated for unfair and unethical business practices!
