In May of 2008, I purchased a Sealy Springfree Latex mattress. I did a lot of research and it was considered one of the best mattresses for neck and back problems as well as side sleepers. On Sealy's site as well as in the store, I was told that the latex springs back immediately, and will always hold its original firmness. Sealy makes firm, plush, and 3 ultra plush models. I purchased the Beachside model, which although "plush", is only one step up from "firm", deemed "medium firmness".
After 3 months, the mattress started getting softer than normal, and eventually started to form deep pits where I slept, and did not bounce back, not immediately, or after an entire day. End of December 2008, I called Sealy and got the automated system; it says I should contact store of purchase with any concerns. I called the Mattress Mall where it was purchased from Al who was "not in", so Steve said, "Call back after New Year." I went into the store just after New Year. Although the store was completely empty of customers, Steve asked me to come back "mid-week".
I went back on Wednesday, Steve said he would either replace or exchange; he would contact Sealy, to give him "a couple of days" and he would call me. Over the next two weeks, I called several times. Steve seemed to never be in and never returned my calls. I called Sealy and finally spoke with a Customer Service rep named Robin. Robin said, "Well, you bought a soft bed. What do you expect?"
We went back and forth, me insisting it was not supposed to be a "soft" bed; it was one step above firm, and 3 steps down from "soft". He insisted that because the word "plush" was present, that meant soft. I stated that I was very disappointed in the way this was being dealt with, $1400 for a bed that I can now not sleep on after only 6 months, and that he was basically telling me, "Oh well, too bad..." I said, "I might as well have thrown that money in the gutter." His reply was, "Well, I wouldn't have put it in those words ... but basically, yeah".
Today, after 17 days of no replies from the store of purchase, I spoke to John. He said that Steve was no longer there; he will try to help, but "The store is having financial problems". He then went on to say that to go through them, they have to purchase a replacement from Sealy, who then has to issue them a credit, and "The store can't afford to do that... so if you want, I can file a claim for you, but you will have to wait in line due to the numerous people ahead of you."
I feel I have been had all the way around. The store doesn't stand behind the products it represents, and Sealy does not stand behind its own products. If a mattress sags 1 1/2 inches, it is defective, but at 1 1/4 inches there is nothing wrong? Regardless of the degree, the bed sags. The body indentations do not go away - ever.
I wake up every morning with my hips aching and barely able to walk. This bed is making my problems worse rather than better and all I get is a bank account with $1400 less in it, and a big fat, "Oh well". Sealy should be ashamed. I am so disappointed with what I've read on this site about Sealy and how they do business. I fear my situation will only get worse once they do, if ever, send out an "inspector". Those people are trained to not find a problem. It is a big charade at the consumer's expense. There seriously should be a law against this blatant charade.

I purchased a Sealy mattress only in 2006 and it has been the most horrible mattress I have ever purchased. This last year, it has sagged and causes numbness in my arms (scary). I wake up with terrible backaches. I called to claim the warranty and have gotten a runaround. I paid well over $1,000 for this mattress and feel they should have pride in their product and stand behind their warranty.

I purchased this mattress in 2004. Since that time, the bed has developed sagging of greater than 4 inches, the sides are bulging. I contacted the place where I purchased the bed. I filed a complaint form. They sent out an inspector and then 10 days later, I received a letter stating the mattress is stained and they cannot replace the mattress and are voiding the warranty. The mattress is not stained and in attempt to not honor their warranty, they used a blanket unsanitary condition to void the warranty, while their warranty has not defined unsanitary condition. Mattress cost was $3,699. I have developed arm and hand numbness only when I sleep. It wakes me up constantly. It is painful but it goes away when I get out of the bed.

I purchased a Sealy mattress from Sears and am now having trouble with exchanging it under the warranty. I noticed that the tag that is sewn on the mattress says it was manufactured on 06/12/03 my sales slip says that the mattress was delieved to my house on on 06/11/03. Is Sealy making mattresses and sewing tag with a later date? That's one thing with this mattress. The other thing is the mattress that is under warranty has been discontinued. The warranty is for 5 year no charge replacement. I did find one that was another name same everything but Sears is saying I would have to pay the difference in what I paid for the 1st one. I was told every couple of years they discontinue them How is someone to get the same mattress under warranty? The Sears exchange dept. I've been dealing with is 1-800-549-6178 Please let me know how Sealy can put those tags on the mattresses. Thank You

10 Year Warranty on Mattress
Mattress failed, developed a large crater, it was not holding shape.
Contacted MW Oct 2006.
MW Sight unseen declared Mattress unsanitary and stated there was nothing that could be done.
November 12th wrote letter to Sealy after researching warranty rights on line and the Sealy Company.
November 28th received same response from Sealy that due to health concerns for their workers there was nothing that they could do.
We purchased a new mattress from a different company, took delivery Dec 17th 2006
December 29th, filed claim with the Taunton MA District small claims court.
January 2007 phone call from Sealy.
Asked if we wanted a replacement mattress, stated we had already purchased a replacement mattress. Sealy stated in an intimidating tone, that they had no choice but to turn it over to their legal department.
March 7, 2007 first and only court date.
We spent the morning at the court house, after many hours preparing to state our case. Sealy did not show.
Default judgment was given for us.
Payment review scheduled for 04/09/2007
We went to the court house.
Sealy did not show. Sealy has ignored the court and the judgement
We now possess a Capias (Civil Warrant of Arrest) for the defendant. Expires 04/29/2008
We called a constable in Taunton, they informed us they need a Ma office to serve the warrant.
We have looked hard for a Sealy Massachusetts office with no results so far.
We are looking for help in what steps to take next.
Additional Information:
The Warranty documentation does refer to Heavily Soiled Mattresses not being covered? We have many pictures that show that this mattress looks like new and is not lightly soiled. This tactic taken by Sealy is insulting and intimidating. There strategy demonstrated to be aligned from the corporation and their distributors is irresponsible.
The Sealy Mattress product is inferior and their warranty is not worth the paper it is printed on.

We purchased a Sealy mattress less than one year ago. It has a limited ten year warranty. After six months we began to feel significant sagging beneith our bodies. We are of normal weight and size. Nine months later there was a dramatic warp visable on the side of the mattress.
A independent party arranged by Sealy, was sent out to inspect. The individual who looked at it, worked full-time for Jordans (where we purchased the mattress.) I don't believe he could be unbiased. He found our nine year old box spring to be the problem, and suggested several remedies which all included spending more money. He found depressions of 2 and a buckle on the side. No stains and proper frame support (except that our box spring is nine years old.) Claim #244232, though I have not seen his report yet.
Jordans claims that Sealy must accept the mattress as defective to get any remediation. Sealy representives claim that the warranty is not covered unless it is supported by a Sealy box spring, or equivalant.

I purchased a set of Summerlin Backsaver mattress and box springs (kingsize)from, Mattress Discounters,US 301 South,Fayetteville, NC, 28306, Phone: 910-425-7900, and I started having trouble with the mattress, Body impressions, large hump in center of mattress, a spring or knot poking me in the lower rib cage, I contacted Mattress Discounters and was told that they no longer did business with Sealy, Inc due to there way of handling warranty problems,. and was told that I would have to contact the factory, and was wished good-luck.I sent in the claim form and they said that there was not an adjuster in this area and that I would have to send them pictures, (ever tried to take a picture of a white object) I sent the pictures , such as they were and received a letter that denied my claim, I called and was told to send more pictures and that she (Heather, District Manager)would reconsider my claim.

Was given the impression that their prices were better because it was coming direct from Sealy (based on the name of the store), but I found the same beds cheaper at other retailers in the area. Why would they claim to be Sealy Factory Direct if their pricing is no better than any other store that sells Sealy? Seems like false advertising to me.

This mattress and box spring set was purchased in January, 2003 and paid for in full. I had this mattress set to replace a previously one after 18 plus years. I do not like having a sunk in middle in this bed and it is not confortable to sleep. It has taken me some time to acquire the funds to made this purchase without charging it. I feel my needs and concerns are not met. All that I wish for is a new set, one that is not defected.

About six months ago, my wife and I, bought a Sealy mattress from the store, Tops Appliance City. It has been only six month's since we bought the mattress and already we have abnormal indentations on both sides of the mattress which is bothering me and my wifes back. When we bought the mattress we recieved instructions on how to flip and rotate it in order for the best feel, we have followed the instructions and still experience back pains.
We are sure it is from the mattress because the only time we feel the pain is when we wake up from sleeping and we know that the indentations that are on both sides are not normal because they are greater than 1-1/2 and the warranty that came for this mattress states this as a qualification for repair or replacement.
We have a warranty for ten years for this mattress. I have tried to contact Sealy Mattress Company for more than five time to see what they can do to solve this problem, but they transfer me to a answering machine saying that they will call back but they never do. The back pains me and my wife are experiencing from the mattress are getting worse and we feel that something must be done to fix this problem.
Both my wife and I have experienced bad back pains from the mattress. And the customer service the Sealy Mattress Company provides is one of the worst I have seen and is basically useless, because no customer service is provided. It is very stressful.
