My dad went to IHOP, 15350 Shawnee Mission Parkway Shawnee, KS 66217, on 1/20/2018 arrived at 7:50 am. He is 89 yrs of age with heart condition. When the Manager seated him on north side of restaurant, my dad asked to be seated on south side to be closer to bathroom because of his heart condition and medications requiring multiple trips to bathroom. The manager refused to seat him in south side open section because they were short on servers. The manager didn’t try to accommodate a senior with disabilities. This request wasn’t unreasonable especially since he frequents this restaurant for breakfast on weekends and some weekdays and always asked to be seated close to bathroom at a table. I am furious they wouldn’t accommodate a senior that frequents this restaurant in the early morning hours which is not a peak time for them.
My dad is a Marine that served in Korean War. He deserves more respect than what he received. He doesn’t ask for much and is always pleasant to servers even when they are rude. Servers from several restaurants know him by name and always ask how he is doing. I don’t understand why IHOP manager wouldn’t accommodate a frequent customer with disabilities that never complains or cause any issues. No matter where we go together, including hospitals and Doctor visits, I frequently am told how cute he is and how they love him. Our local police know him from breakfast restaurants and will even stop by our apartment to check on him if they haven’t seen him out and about.

We have gone to several IHOPs all over the Chicagoland and south suburb areas for the last 20 years. I have to say each experience has been as bad or worse than the last. Do you train your wait staff to be SLOW AND UNCARING? It does not matter what time of day it is or how many people are in the restaurant. It actually takes an hour to get scrambled eggs and an English muffin with only 30 people in the restaurant or if there are 2 or 6 people in our party. Then they charge extra for the English muffin. The staff is mentally challenged when it comes to hospitality and service and mathematics. It just never gets better. We will not be returning to any of your restaurants.

Bad experience Store #3463 in Bel Air, Maryland location - I've only been to IHOP twice, both carry out orders. The first time everything was great! I decided a few days later to order out again -- what a mistake! I spoke with Amanda (443-371-6330) and she put me on hold and then disconnected me. I called back and Amanda put me on hold for about 5 minutes more. Then after finally answering, when I gave her my order (the same as the first time), she said "that sandwich doesn't exist." I said I got it a few days before and she said "that sandwich doesn't exist, are you sure you got that sandwich?" I said, "Yes, it's only a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and fries." She said again, "that sandwich doesn't exist".
When I asked for a manager, she said no one was on duty and when I asked for a Corporate complaint number, she didn't know it. I then went online and registered a complaint and when I didn't hear anything a week later, I called the Customer Service number online (1-866-444-5144). I had a case number from my online complaint and despite having an existing complaint, they wanted another week to address my complaint. They said that it was up to the store (franchise) to contact me and they couldn't make the location address my concern. What a mistake, avoid at all cost! I know I will from now on!

You How three IHOP restaurant who don't know how to serve disabled people. I am visually impaired. They do not have Braille menus that's required by federal ADA when they serve food to your customers. It is Cool and a lot of your workers Have a bad attitude yesterday. My daughter and I went to a IHOP on 17th St. before Grand Avenue in Santa Anna. The waitress had a bad Attitude, gave me sourdough toast that I did not ask for, cool eggs when the food should be hot and not taste like they all do. Something about your restaurant the ones on Harbor will not serve me because eight years ago my uncle who is a police officer came and told me to move my RV because McDonald's was talking about towing it.
They told me I was not allowed in the restaurant anymore. That's the way they treat their customers. I am disabled. One time I went in and I was told I could not plug in my power chair and I was sitting at a table by a plug. I only had one bar on my power chair and my husband had a push it to the Disneyland parking lot and there is a 500 pound chair. I don't appreciate people treating others like if they were a piece of trash and when you're homeless is not our fault but they don't want to serve them either. I have seen a lot of homeless people come into the restaurant and they're told to get out. People or people home with her not. We are God's people not dogs.

I have been a loyal IHOP customer for years. I travel with my family quite often and, no matter which state we are in, IHOP has been our first choice for breakfast. Unfortunately, after many years of patronage, our positive experience came to an end on Christmas day of 2017. On this morning, we decided to go to IHOP in 795 South Semoran Boulevard in Orlando Florida (Store #36-081).
After eating breakfast, our waitress returned to our table and informed me that my credit card had been declined twice. I found this to be odd so I called my credit card company to get more information. In the meantime, I paid for the meal in cash. The credit card customer service representative informed me that the transaction was not declined on their end. In fact, she saw two transactions posted. I called the waitress and informed her about my findings; she was not able to give a clear explanation so she suggested for me to speak to the manager. I agreed.
The manager came with a hyper attitude. He appeared to be annoyed by my request to speak to him. He stated that credit card companies sometimes decline transactions because of fraud. I explained to him that this was not the case in my situation and that two transactions were showing in my account in addition to the fact that I had paid in cash. He appeared not to be listening to my concerns. He was talking loud enough that it caught the attention of the patrons sitting around our table. He stated in an unprofessional and insensitive manner, "It is not my fault if your credit card was declined twice."
I reiterated to him that it was not my credit card. I also stated that I was going to keep an eye on the transactions and that I would be following up if I was overcharged. At this time he stated again in a loud voice that it was not his fault that I was declined twice. He abruptly and unprofessionally walked away with my receipt while stating sarcastically, "Merry Christmas, I am not going to go back and forth with you". Again, patrons around me were staring at our table, some chuckled. My family and I were extremely embarrassed.
As we were walking out, I asked the manager for my receipt. I also asked for his full name. He walked around hyper stating, "I'll give you my name, I'll even give you my damn picture with it." I told him that there was no need to be a **. He stated in confrontational manner, "What did you call me?" At this point I did not want this incident to continue to escalate, so I proceeded towards the exit. As I was walking out, a waitress yelled sarcastically, "Merry Christmas!" There were patrons at the main lobby waiting to be seated. Again, my family and I were made a focus of sarcasm. The unprofessional culture in store # 36-0810 is evident.
It is superfluous to reiterate how the manager treated us in an unprofessional and disrespectful manner. My family and I have never been embarrassed and treated in such a way by anyone, let alone by a manager of a restaurant that prides itself for their customers to "Come hungry. Leave happy". His unprofessionalism, sarcasm, negative behavior and lack of customer service cannot be justified.

Hello I was passing through San Marcos going to San Antonio, and I stopped by IHOP 1920 and where I sat down at a wonderful waiter's table, and I happen to overhear the Manager not letting his staff clock out when they were supposed to, and had them stay longer than supposed to which is awful but the coworkers there seemed so unhappy too. The staff were wonderful to the customers especially our waiter. Except there was this one waitress, I didn't know her name but I know she had a black ponytail, and the way she acted to her coworkers was extremely inappropriate. She was very rude to her customers. I feel so bad for her coworkers. It breaks my heart, I used to be a waitress, and I know it's difficult but the other staff looked like they were having a bad day - good day.

At a stop for lunch with my family, our server, Katrina went above And beyond her customer service duties. She checked on us every 5 minutes or so. However the food took awhile to get to us. The restaurant was not busy, so we couldn't figure out why our order was taking forever. My true reason for this review is to praise Katrina. She was the best server I've ever had. And I'm in the hospitality business! She deserves recognition.

My family went to the IHOP in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Restaurant number 360172. We used to go every Sunday, but every single time we went, we had problems with either the food, service, wait time, or some other ordeal. We tried going to a further IHOP in Fort Walton beach, but still horrible. They don't apologize, and only make excuses. I always get the egg white fit omelette with dry sour dough toast. It has come hard boiled, not cooked through, half the size, and we always (I mean every single time), get told we can't sub toast for fruit. Which they always end up doing after a very unpleasant confrontation.
This time, at the Gulf Breeze location, we were told, again, we can't sub toast for fruit. Terry (the unprofessional, wannabe manager) told my husband he had better be grateful they are giving us toast this time, because it will not happen again. My husband asked her firstly, why aren't the customers always right? That is a businesses true purpose, to make the customer happy. Next, he told her to grab the real manager. She was dismissive, and very rude. The manager never came to our table, our drinks didn't come until after our meal was delivered.
We love the food when it is made correctly. It was delicious this time. Demi ** was our server in training. She did a great job aside for forgetting our drinks. I have to say though, when we have had problems with our food, we actually get told that is how it comes, so if we ask for it to be made again, apparently it comes unfixed? I can't believe they actually get away with telling customers that. Terry needs to find a new job. Demi, told us she fired her as her trainer. So, Apparently, she is as rude to her fellow employees as she is to her customers.

I received a birthday certificate for pancakes at IHOP so my husband and I decided to go to the local IHOP in Parker, Colorado. When we arrived I asked the server if I could use the birthday certificate towards a reduction in my meal price instead of receiving an $8.99 specialty pancake platter. She told me whatever I ordered would be reduced in price by $8.99. I ordered a meal that included a side order of pancakes/French toast.
We were charged for three meals when we ordered two meals. I guess that way with the $8.99 off with the birthday certificate, IHOP was still charging us full price for everything served and the food served was repulsive!!! With the $8.99 cost reduction with the birthday certificate, and being billed for three meals when we were two people having ordered a TOTAL of two meals, we paid w/ tip approximately $37.00 for our grotesque meal - my meal which was with birthday certificate and for a simple meal for my husband. What we were served was repulsive. We took about 80% or more of the meal home in a "to go" box. Even with that my husband and I have been ill upon returning home and vomiting.
We repeatedly asked for a manager. No-one came. Then after going to the front register, the person there, at the register, said she was new. We asked for a manager again. We waited over ten minutes by the register repeatedly asking to speak to a manager. No-one came. It was clear no-one had any intention of coming to speak with us or to correct the bill. I remember in the past enjoying a meal at IHOP. This IHOP at least is nothing like the IHOP that I remember. Someone from corporate needs to inspect that IHOP and either retrain everyone there or shut it down. That location is a disgrace to the IHOP chain.

Lack of integrity and rude Manager. This morning we visited the La Verne location for a late breakfast. We had purchased a raffle ticket through our children's school a couple years ago, and held it until the time was right. The Gift Certificate was entitled, IHOP #791 1201 Foothill Blv La Verne CA 91750 and was "In the Amount of...Free Complete Meal for a Family of 4" - no expiration date. An ID in red ink on the bottom of the certificate. We presented it to our server, and in about 5 minutes the Manager ** came to our table and said, "Sorry, we can't honor this because there is new ownership." When I asked where on the certificate did it say that this certificate was predicated on ownership, she said that she'd have to contact the owner. I said, "OK, go ahead and give him a call." She said, "I don't think he's available". I told her that was not acceptable, and I think that they should honor it.
Nothing on the certificate indicated any expiration, amount or ownership. This is not acceptable and I expect a full refund - total $43.74. I added a $10 tip for **, the server who apologized profusely, but I have no issue with her. The issue is with the rude Manager and with the principle of this issue. In a day an age of mass internet exposure and risk of poor reputation, I think that an immediate reply and refund are appropriate.

I wanted to take my family out for a nice quiet meal and ended up with the complete opposite. First off we saw the hostess outside having a smoke break upon our arrival. I didn't think anything of it and went inside, only to sit there along with 3 other parties waiting to be seated... then he decides to come inside and seat us. We were Sat at a table in front of the kitchen entrance/exit, my 9-month old son was in a highchair at the end of the table (where the servers are walking out with hot foods & beverages... that made me very uneasy.
Then the "hostess" tells us they are short-staffed. I look around and only counted 3 servers IN THE ENTIRE BUILDING. At this point I'm ready to go elsewhere, I stay because I see our food lined up in the kitchen. The chef actually brings us our food and is actually a breath of fresh air considering his co-workers all seem to be nutbags. While eating I look into the kitchen because I hear profanity blaring from someone's mouth and as I mentioned earlier, my 9-month old was in earshot of this entire conversation. Meanwhile our server brings us an entire pitcher of soda instead of refilling our glasses.
I'll attach a photo of the "hostess" preparing someone's food with his dingy gross boxers hanging out of his pants and a server dropping an entire box of condiments on the floor beside us shattering glasses of hot sauce. If I wanted to go to the circus I'd go to the circus, if I wanted my child around indecent conversations I would've settled for a dark seedy bar. But I wanted a nice family meal and ended up boxing it and going home because the service was horrible and I paid a good amount of money. I didn't receive my receipt either.

I am writing this review because I think IHOP is overrated. It's not that delicious!!! The pancakes are just regular pancakes sold at a very high price. At first I really wanted to try their pancakes. I was dying to eat them because of what I heard from friends and other people, they say they're very delicious. So, one day, I decided to take my breakfast there. They're so expensive but then again I thought maybe the taste is worth the price. I was wrong... The pancakes look okay. Nothing special. Just like the regular ones that I eat at home or at McDonald's. I thought "don't judge a book by its cover". When I took my first bite, the first thing that came into my mind was... what a waste of money, time, and energy. I came to this place 5 miles from home to eat this kind of pancake?!! Are you ** kidding me?!
This is so unfair! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! Starbucks is also expensive BUT IT IS WORTH IT! Their coffee is the best. But IHOP and their expensive regular-tasting plain-looking nothing special overrated pancakes??? I can't understand why so many people eat there! Is there something that I don't know or should I know? I was really dissatisfied. I won't go back there!! I regret going there.

When I asked the server if she could make some stronger coffee, she explained the coffee came prepackaged. In my opinion there was too much water put in the coffee maker in order to make more coffee. We have eaten at this store before and been pleased with our meal. I suppose the owner decided that he was going to make the coffee last longer by adding water to it. I talked to the manager and she said that they charge that for the full thermo. I told her that I never got a refill and she said "that's what we charge and there is nothing I can do about it." I understand that IHOP is to make money but not to rip off their clients with those prices. I will never go back to that place. IF ANYONE GO THERE BE CAREFUL WHEN ORDERING COFFEE. I'm eating more like wasting a steak tips platter because the sweetness doesn't even taste right.. The meat is rotten, caramelized onions couldn't pull off this rancid meat taste.

We were waiting, waiting and 8 min gone (Because people who came behind us received their drinks and almost getting their plates) we couldn't wait anymore. Called host, asked for server. Host was very mad at us, told that she doesn't know. I don't know why she was mad at us. Maybe we asked our server and drinks?
There were 4 servers work for 16 tables. How come you guys can miss us? At least they could have asked our drinks. They were walking around our table asking questions from other customers. We are human being too just like a every other customers. We were waiting for server. You guys are very wrong. I did order anything except coffee and orange juice. Our party was 4 adults and 2 highchairs, no room at all on the table or seating wise. The server was not friendly and did not write anything down so a few items were wrong and when my daughter tried to tell her that the baby's order was wrong she actually argued with her. My mother and I arrived around 7:55 pm Friday evening, August 7, 2015 at the Bedford NH location. We were greeted by a pleasant young lady who promptly showed us to our table. Shortly thereafter a happy and smiling girl promptly greeted us and announced she would be our waitress for this meal and then took our order for drinks. When she returned with our coffee I informed her that we were ready to order our meal. It was now 8:03. My mother ordered a BLT and fries. I ordered the 3 by 3 - 3 eggs over medium and 3 buttermilk pancakes. Let me remind you, I am forty three and have been a very happy and loyal IHOP customer since I was five or, old enough to remember arriving every Saturday morning with my mother and ordering the Silver Dollar pancake breakfast.
Our order did not come out until 8:34. Forgetting the 31 minute wait for an order that would typically only take thirteen to sixteen minutes to prepare and plate. My mother's fries were limp, cold and regretful. The pickle was warm. And the young girl was so cordial and obviously embarrassed. When she placed my food down I instantly complained that the pancakes were reminiscent of the Silver Dollar PC's. They were so tiny and my eggs were dreadfully cold. I had chosen to substitute my meat for an English muffin and the muffin came out after I had asked the waitress to please return my plate to be recooked. The muffin came out plane, no butter or jelly. It was now 8:45 and my plate was now coming out. My mother had long been done her meal and, she opted to not have the fries replaced. We did not leave your restaurant until after 9:00. This was the most horrible night mom and I had ever had eating at IHOP.

Hitchcock, TX - This omelette is offered made with egg whites. Side of mixed fruit. I have had it 3 times. 1st time, omelette was good but the mixed fruit tasted like the atmosphere of a freezer or large refrigerator, and I only ate the grapes (they weren't too bad). 2nd time, omelette was good but I asked for a substitute for the fruit and was given "yogurt". The "yogurt" tasted like very sweet vanilla pudding. 3rd time, omelette looked very puny and the spinach tasted like the inside of the freezer again. I could not find but very little cheese, and the fruit consisted of only watermelon diced very small. The waiter said they were out of "seasonal fruit" and all they had left was the watermelon. It really was a joke.
The staff was polite and offered to remake the omelette, but I declined because I just did not see how they could do any different, unless they magically retrained their staff in and instantly resupplied their kitchen. The polite, but (very) young lady presenting herself as manager did remove the omelette from my charge. My coffee, and my wife's pancakes were normal.

I called 30 minutes ahead on a Sunday. I got there. The place was jam-packed. Had to reorder to go. Waited at least one hour. Waited a month before I reordered to go. Called 30 minutes ahead. They said it would be ready in 15 min. This time the restaurant was half empty on a Sat. afternoon. When I arrived at the restaurant, the food was ready. I had asked that they put extra condiments in the order and do not overcook the pancakes to make sure that they are light and fluffy. They had assured me that they would adhere to the request. I asked again before paying and she assured me that it was all there and the pancakes were just as I asked -- light and fluffy.
When I got home and opened each plate, all three plates had hard, dark brown pancakes and there was only two small condiment cups with hardly any butter or syrup...no utensils...no napkins. The crepes had way too hollandaise sauce to wherever...could not even see the crepes are tell if it was a sauce or cheese! The sauce was also thick and had like a pudding thickness and texture. I was so hungry and extremely disappointed that I felt like a headache was coming on...I had spent over $45.00 on a meal that was horrible and was not about to get back into traffic in 100 degrees weather to resolve this matter. I called the IHOP to speak to the manager and had explained the situation. She apologized and said that she would call me back. I'm still waiting for a resolution.

I had very bad experience at this restaurant. Not that the food was not good, but the management lost trust and integrity of running a truthful business. We ordered two items from the menu; a quesadilla and chicken ceaser salad. While eating quesadilla, we noticed a unique taste, thought it was burnt cheese but when we opened the tortilla, there were bacon strips in it that is not the ingredient on the menu. We called the server and she took the plate inside to confirm with the chef. She came out and took the evening shift manager on the side to show her the plate.
The manager came to us and asked if she could make another quesadilla. I asked, "So was there bacon in it?" She said no. I asked her to bring the dish back if there is no bacon but she had already directed the server to trash the dish. I asked, "Why would you trash it if there was no bacon?" I asked her to please tell me the truth because we don't eat bacon. I told her that I understand mistakes happen but please don't lie and hide the truth. She will not admit for several minutes until I showed her the photos I took with my phone and a small bite piece that was left in my other plate. Right there, we also looked in the salad and noticed the chef had also sprinkled some dry bacon in it. She started to diagnose with knife but inside of her kept feeling bad, feeling speechless. I asked her again, "please don't lie."
We walked away from the dishonest evening shift manager who seemed religious, wearing cross in the neck yet continued to hide a simple mistake made by the chef. How easy it is to say, "yes, by mistake the chef added bacon and we apologize". I contacted IHOP requesting discussion. Five days gone and haven't heard from anyone. We've go through Deming, NM several times a month and it is convenient to have one of our meals there, usually breakfast. IHOP is fairly new, we've given it a good try and can now honestly say it's time to give up eating there. All experiences have been service lacking. Last experience 4 people at our table. All tables around us came in after we had already ordered but received their meals first. Asked for manager since waitress seemed to be ignoring us. They must have guessed the issue because Manager came out with plates in hand and simply said "sorry for the delay".
My plate was cold, waitress was still ignoring us. One plate also had an extremely delayed side order and another plate was wrong. When waitress finally came around with bill, she asked if everything was alright. I told her "honestly here are all the things that were wrong, people getting served before us, you ignoring us, manager did not want to hear what we had to say, cold plate, wrong plate and delayed delivery of complete order." She asked if we had told that to the Manager and I explained, "you mean speak to someone who is not interested in what we have to say?" I told her "if things are not going right we shouldn't be ignored; the right thing to have done was for you to have come over and said, we're having delays, we apologize, please bear with us. We would have understood, had someone simply acknowledged there was an issue. But no one cared."
She apologized and went to asked the Manager if he could make it right. Came back with 10% discount. Hubby asked if that was on top of the "Senior discount" (being sarcastic of course). Waitress replied "you get one or the other, all we can do". Daughter quipped "so if senior is unhappy, 'oh well too bad?'" Waitress replied "if you want I can have you talk with District Manager." Asked where he was. Told in the back cooking. Decided to leave it alone. She then asked for the ticket, and my friend said she wadded it up, and the cashier said she needed the number off of it. She said that she told us it would be used for mine, too.
I made the comment that "usually the customer is right but not here." This is not the first time that this lady has not acted properly as twice before she became angry when one of the waitresses seated customers while she was doing something else, and she told them that was her job and let us hear about her problems with the waitresses. We've mentioned it to every waitress who has waited on us, and each one said the same thing that she has been reported numerous times and nothing is done about it. She has no business working in that type of job. I was told that she's from up north; well, this is Texas, and we don't treat people, particularly customers, like that. I hate to go there because of her; I'm usually in a good mood, but she can change that very quickly.

Then my grandson ordered decaf coffee and when he was fixing his cup of coffee, he went to take a sip of it and there was something green floating in it. That was so nasty to see things floating in the drinks and we all sat there and started to discussed about getting up and just walking out cause we all wondered if we were going to see things in our food like we were seeing in the drinks. We went to the IHOP on Goodman street in Rochester, NY. I myself was not happy with all we experienced when all I wanted to do was enjoy a nice meal with my family.

My wife and I were very excited that this store opened here in Mount Vernon. We have tried the restaurant several times. And at different times of the day hoping to get different management and staff. I understand when busy service is thin. But when we are of 3 small tables spread out in store and it takes good 1.5 hours to come to table. It becomes a joke. Like I said, we have tried different days and time of day. Service varies fro 45 min to hour and a half. And while you wait you are lucky to wave someone down to get a refill for staff goes in back and never comes out again for a while. To be honest when we have gone in early morn manager walks around constant and staff runs. But service not much better.

On Friday January 10, 2014 @ 8:45am, I decided to have breakfast alone in a Yonkers, New York IHOP. I arrived in the restaurant and the atmosphere appeared too pleasant as I was immediately seated and waited to be serviced. The waiter came to my table in a reasonable and I ordered a hot tea with lemon on the side. When he returned with the lemon, he informed me that they ran out of lemon the night before. I was okay with it and he took my order. I ordered an omelette with mushrooms and spinach with a side order of fruit instead of the pancakes. He again returned in reasonable time with my order. Fortunately, as I eat my food I have a habit of picking in it.
While eating I noticed that there appeared to be brownish strips like beef strips. I immediately called over the waiter and informed him that meat was in my omelette and I didn't eat meat because of religious purposes. He asked if I wanted him to change my order and I said that I just wanted the bill. I went to pay the bill and asked to speak with the manager before leaving. The manager came over and I told her that meat was served in my omelette and that I didn't eat meat because of religious purposes. She responded in a harsh tone that attracted the attention of the other guest in the restaurant and asked why I didn't call her over immediately. I told her that I immediately informed the waiter (who was standing there at the time to confirm). She then said that the next time I should tell them that I don't eat meat for religious purposes and they will make sure that my meals aren't prepared around meat. I said that it wouldn't be a next time and she shrugged her shoulders and walked away just leaving me standing there.
I felt embarrassed and nauseated at that same time. The other guest were just looking at me and the only thing I could do is just walk out of the restaurant. The moral to this experience would be, in the future if you don't eat meat for any purposes, be sure to inform the waiter prior to taking your order. If you fail not to notify them, you are likely to have meat cooked in your meal.

First let me preface that I have worked in the hospitality industry for a number of years, and started my career as a server in a breakfast establishment as a teenager. I visited IHOP #3361 yesterday afternoon with my sister, and brother-in-law. We were thoroughly disappointed with our visit, and more specifically the service. We arrived around 12:45 PM just after the church rush, and it was certainly busy but appeared to be emptying out as most tables around us seemed to have their orders. We waited approximately 10 minutes to be seated which was very reasonable. The hostess was polite and courteous. We were first approached at our table by **, who greeted us very warmly with a big friendly smile.
We ordered our beverages two sodas, and a coffee. She appeared to have several tables filled in her section. A few minutes later she came to our table with another server who was carrying our drinks. She introduced the server as **, and that she was starting the afternoon shift and taking over for her. I must say that I was quite impressed with her friendliness and professionalism. I have dined many places both formal and informal, and it was a flawless transition. Never have I experienced someone actually bringing the new server over in transitioning. She in the few minutes we interacted with her as guests made me feel welcomed and happy that we chose to go to IHOP.
Her replacement ** gave us the worst service possible, as if it were intentional. She did not smile, or act courteous until the end. We weren't ready to order so she quickly stepped away to the back of the house. She returned shortly after. My brother-in-law wanted to order from the seasonal menu but instead of a seasonal pancake he requested plain buttermilk pancakes. She stated, "No, you can't do that. You have to pick from the three choices pictured." I was perplexed at her response as it was very short and rude.
In the hospitality industry the client is always right, and she could have phrased it more professionally or at the very least courteously. I'm sure food costs lessen, if you choose plain or decadent. She took our order. My brother-in-law ordered a different menu item, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with French fries, and my sister ordered the appetizer sampler. Our server placed our order came and dropped ketchup and hot sauce at the end of our table, and disappeared into the back of the house. It should be noted during her two disappearances we had no spoons, and my brother-in-law had to flag down another server for a spoon to stir his coffee with.
My sister was taken aback by the preemptive placement of hot sauce on our table as she and I are Mexican-American. She was personally offended. I noticed our server had a couple that appeared ** in her section that she did not place hot sauce on the table for, and a black couple in the booth behind us that she placed hot sauce on their table. Seems a bit stereotypical, in our opinion. A young guy came from the back with our plates. He was covered in tattoos and appeared to be either a line cook or utility worker. He was not very good at carrying plates, and stated so as he approached our table. The plates were stacked on each other, and the bottoms of the plates were squishing the food on the adjacent plates. He carried very poorly, to the point that it appeared they would fall.
One of my sister's chicken tenders actually fell off her plate, and onto mine before he set them down. Her plate took the worst hit, with the food all askew and the sauces (barbecue and marinara), spilled onto the plate. My sister was done with her soda, so we placed it on the edge of the table for convenience to our server, **, who appeared to be blatantly ignoring us. I finished my soda and placed my glass next to my sister's. It should also be noted that there was a manager on who was table touching but never once came to our table. He passed by as well with the empty glasses sitting at the edge of the table.
Our server came finally came through and my sister let her know that we needed sodas, and did not need the hot sauce if she wanted to take it. She brought us new sodas and did not take the empties or provide us with new straws. It should also be noted that, we did not touch the sodas as she went in the back to retrieve them and we were nervous that she had done something to them or added a "special" ingredient. A few minutes later she brought the check (we were barely halfway finished) and said "No rush but here's your check. I'll be your cashier too." She was very rude about it, and didn't once tell us to enjoy our meal or if we needed anything else.
We noticed that there was a survey attached to our receipt. Having worked the service and hospitality industry for so long, both myself and my sister, I rarely complain unless I feel very compelled to do so. I normally like to dole out accolades, as customers are most likely to report bad service over good. That being said, I planned on taking that survey when I returned home last night. ** took our check to cash out and brought it back without so much as a thank you or enjoy your day. We opened the checkbook and, was shocked to see that the original receipt with the survey that is linked to her specifically and her service was missing. My brother-in-law attempted to get her attention. She was at the booth behind us no more than five feet away and she ignored him. He was going to ask her for the original receipt back. We asked a nearby waitress about getting our original receipt, and they stopped and said "It's not in there?" We replied that it wasn't. I'm sure it's an IHOP standard to provide the guest with that receipt so that if they wish they may take the survey and provide feedback. We were provided with a reprint of the original receipt, and went on our way.
We felt that ** intentionally took our original receipt so that we would not do the survey. I don't feel that she could have provided worse service, and acted more unethically. I was wrong. That evening about 8:30 PM, I logged onto Tellihop.com and was appalled. I entered survey code ** and it said, "Sorry a survey has already been taken for this receipt". I was angered, that not only had she purposefully taken our receipt, she or someone else did the survey before I had the chance to give my feedback. I enjoy going to IHOP for the great food and service, but I highly doubt I will return to this location IHOP #3361.

Soon as we got there the manager says "we close at 12:00." We said okay and had a seat. So right off the bat we don't feel welcomed. A server comes to our table and don't greet you or anything. Says "we close at 12:00. What you want to drink?" We tell her, she comes back with the drinks and starts to rush us to order. I look in my glass and there is white stuff floating in it. So I get another one and it has the same. Finally on the third glass it's clean. Then we have to order cause she rushing us.
During this time the manager even walks over and rushes us. Anyway we get the food and we have to get up to get help or get the waitress attention. Who is not doing anything. She was the worst waitress I have ever seen. She rushed us and then we had to ask for everything. The manager was just as slack. He was the same as her. This was the first time I have ever ate or been to IHOP. Due to the manager being so rude and dumb and putting the customer last and his needs first I will never go again. The waitress was just as he was. It was an hour before closing time. What the hell? The manager would even tell people when they walked in door they were closing so the people just left. He did that a lot so did she. They still had lots of time.
The customer should be first. I will never go back to any IHOP. It was the worst experience I have ever had. Ruined my whole day and dinner. I still can't believe how we got treated. Or how others retreated. We also got sick after we ate. Also headaches..... very disappointed. Never going again.

The manager approached us and asked if we were okay. We explained that no one had approached our table after sitting for more than 30 minutes and that we had noticed two other parties leave after standing at the hostess desk without anyone coming to seat them. On July 4, 2012, around 2:15 a.m, I went to IHOP with 6 of my friends to end our night with some food. The restaurant I'm referring to is located at 833 Canal St, New Orleans, LA. Our rude server was named ** and she introduced herself with an attitude. Most of the guests I was with wanted water to drink beside me; I wanted a Pepsi. She only brought water to the table and rolled her eyes at me when I asked for my drink. When she brought my drink back to the table, she spilled most of the drink on me accidentally, but she didn't apologize until I mentioned what happened. All I received was a "my bad." The server really didn't bother me as much because I tried to ignore her actions because we were all hungry. I ordered the two + two + two, had scrambled eggs and bacon. Well, Ms. ** came from the back trying to tote as many plates as she could with plates overtopping each other.
My friends complained about it to each other, but we decided just to eat. It seemed like everybody's food was good besides my eggs. I only ate a pancake and a piece of bacon by then. My eggs had a very strange smell and taste to it. I immediately spat the eggs out because of it. As I looked at other eggs on the table, mine in particular looked different also. I didn't know if it was just me until my plate was being passed around the table for everyone to smell. I can't even describe the taste and didn't have any idea what it was.
Maybe it was a plate that wasn't washed properly, or from the waiter overtopping the food with other plates, or maybe just the eggs. I called the server to tell her about it and she called the manager. I didn't get the manager's name, but I know she was a hefty woman with dreadlocks that weren't neat at all. I told the manager what the problem was and she jumped into defense mode starting an argument with me in front of customers. She argued how anything was wrong with my egg if they all came out of the same batch and they cooked all the eggs together. I told her to ask the cook, and and she loudly stated that, "I am the cook, so you can't fool me."
I think she got offended when I asked where her hairnet was, if she was cooking everybody's food. She told me, "Boy, ain't nothing wrong with those eggs; you just trying to get a free meal, cheap **." I didn't lose my cool; I told her to smell the eggs and she sniffed them, then sniffed again because she smelled the stench that everyone else smelled from just my eggs. Next thing I know, she had other people from the kitchen smelling the eggs. At this point, I was mad because I was still hungry and my plate was being smelled by strangers. The so-called manager brought the plate back to the table as if I were going to eat it. I didn't find it funny as she did and told her I was not eating that. She responded with laughter that she'll take a dollar off for the eggs and that I'm "not getting no damn meal for free."
My whole party was fed up and mad because the problem that was presented wasn't being solved at all and the manager caused a scene that had the store's attention on us. We asked for the bill just to get out of there because we were embarrassed from the IHOP establishment. We paid and packed up to leave this disrespectful, inhospitable restaurant. As we left, the unprofessional manager blurted out, "Next time y'all visit here, ask for shell eggs." This had to be my worst restaurant visit ever. This place needs to be checked out by the corporation and needs to be under better management.

Although there were no economic nor physical damage that resulted from this, as a long time customer of our Stamford, CT restaurant I feel that my rights as a consumer were violated. The loud, rude party of six should have been asked to tune it down or leave. This type of behavior would have never been acceptable at the IHOP located on Summer Street in Stamford, CT.

This happened a few weeks ago, but it was too blog-worthy to leave alone. I covered Bob Stoops' press conference in Norman, and I decided to go to IHOP to write my story before heading south to Riverwind for a poker session.
I wasn't even hungry, but I wanted to order something since I was taking up a table. I glanced through the menu and noticed they had a new strawberry cheesecake dessert, so I ordered it. You could get the cheesecake by itself for $4.69 or get it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for $4.99. Obviously I got the ice cream.
I got started on my story and tried to fire up the internet, but it wasn't working. I mentioned it to the waitress but I wasn't really worried about it since I've filed lots of stories from IHOPs and they usually have reliable wireless access.
After 15 minutes, I still had no dessert and no internet. I thought it was odd since they just pull these desserts out of the freezer, but my story was almost done and I didn't really care about the food. Finally, the waitress walks up with a plate piled high with pancakes covered in strawberries. She also brought me a separate bowl with one scoop of ice cream. I said, "No, I didn't have the strawberry pancakes, I had the strawberry cheesecake." She apologized and went back.
Another 15 minutes goes by, and as I'm finishing the story the waitress walks up with guess what, some more *** pancakes covered in strawberries! I said, "No, I don't want pancakes. I wanted the strawberry cheesecake. " She said, "Yeah I know, there's cheesecake bits inside the pancake." (Huge sigh, palm pounding on forehead. ) I said, "Bring me a menu," and I pointed to the strawberry cheesecake on the menu. She said, "Oh, you just wanted the cheesecake."
It only took a second for her to bring that out, while I still couldn't get the internet to work to send my story. I asked for my check along with the cheesecake, though I should have never given her a dime. I kind of felt sorry for her.
So she brings the check and the cheesecake, while informing me that IHOP's internet is down today. That's nice. And my check is for more than $10 despite the cheesecake being listed at $4.99 on the menu. They charged me $7.99 for strawberry cheesecake pancakes and $1.99 for a side of ice cream, plus tax. I said, "I got charged for the strawberry cheesecake pancakes but the cheesecake I ordered was only $4.99. "
When she got back from fixing that, she made sure to mention that she had to eat my pancakes because she gets one free meal a day, and if she didn't eat them as her meal she would be charged personally for them. I couldn't even muster any fake sympathy for that. I gave her a $20 bill and waited for the change. She returned with a $10 bill and said, "Hey, you never ate your ice cream. " That would be because it was totally melted by the time I got the cheesecake. I said, "You still owe me money. Remember, the cheesecake was only $5."
I found some matches in my car but getting an accelerant would have been inconvenient, so I decided not to burn the place down. Besides, I still had to find internet access to send my *** football story.

When you enter the restaurant, there is a sign saying "Senior Night, Monday and Wednesday, if your order one entree, the second entree is free if you order drinks."
There is absolutely nothing restricting what you can order on the sign. However, when you go to pay, they do not allow the free dinner if you have ordered from the senior specials. They said that this is printed somewhere on the menu. Again, it is not stated on the main sign. I have a picture of the sign if it is needed. We had to pay for the second entree, about $6.99.

A group of several young men in their early twenties were loitering outside of the facility, shouting threats/harassing customers and entering and exiting the business. This occurred shortly before midnight on September 21. A waitress explained that the guys were acting this way because of a recent break-up between one of the young men and a waitress. They had vandalized the store days prior. They were sitting on my car, refusing to move even after the car alarm was sounded. When I spoke with the manager, he claimed that he would not call the police (in spite of the danger these guys had inflicted against a waitress (they came in abruptly and threatened her a few nights prior).
Even then, the police weren't called. I was told that "I could” call the police if I wanted. Furthermore, the manager claimed that he would neither directly instruct the violators to leave nor call the police because of his own fear of a busted lip. So, as a very frightened customer, I was left to fend for myself. I had to wait an hour after eating before I felt safe leaving. I believe that the restaurant had a duty to me in this case, although I'm not sure exactly what it is.

I arrived at your restaurant at 11:15 pm and did not get served until 12:20 am. I grew angry because I never had this problem before at ihop. I usually go to the ihop on American way and Perkin, however the location I choose on union is closer to my job. I spoke to some foreign manager who refused to give me a phone number but insisted that I go on line to file my complaint. I will not eat at any ihop again if you all share the same attitude that this manager has shown me.

I travel a lot and eat at IHOP all the time. Every time, I order the same thing. The BLT sandwich, which the menu says comes with 6 slices of bacon, they never put 6 slices. I have complained every time and talked to managers and sent in a complaint letter to the one in Clovis. They all still continue to short you on the bacon! This is their common practice and I don't think they are going to change unless someone, other than the managers, steps in. They are cheating the customers every time. This is embarrassing as I do take my sandwich apart and show them each time that they have not put the 6 slices in the sandwich. If this happened occasionally or at one IHOP, I could call it an honest mistake. But when you eat there 2-3 times a week and it always happens, then they are deliberately shorting the customer.

On Saturday June 26 2010, My husband and I went to have breakfast to this restaurant. Nobody was there to greet us and we had to sit ourselves. The waitress took so long that my husband had to go to the register and ask for our server. The person on the register did not understand a word of English and did nothing. Finally Karen, so it was the name tag she had came with such an attitude towards our table that she asked us "are you ready?" I told her ready for what and who are you? She rolled her eyes and I felt so bad and I decided I had lost my appetite. She rolled her eyes again and said OK with a smirk on her face. The restaurant was so dirty and unsanitary that I was happy to no have eaten there.

I went to dinner at IHOP with my family. We have been going there almost every 2 weeks for years now but this was different. The waiter, extremely rude kept standing on our head to ask for the order. Finally when we ordered, he got the first order for my kids and one plate of pancakes. Since I was not that hungry my wife and I decided to share and see if we need more we will order more. We asked for a plate which he made a big deal about and then totally forgot about us. He would not come near our table. We needed water - no service, coffee - no service – he totally went MIA!
We then asked the other waiter to bring our server. Once he came we asked for water and wanted to order pancakes. He refused, he said we can't share. We were totally surprised - I am paying for the second plate of pancake and we can't share? We called the manager - because we did not believe he knew what we were saying. The manager came and he did absolutely nothing.
We said this is not good service and we will complain to the owner. To my surprise the guy said, "Go ahead, he is my dad.” Well dad, your son is going to run the place to the ground with his customer service skills before you know it. Take care of your business and get someone to take care of it. Needless to say we are never going there again. On another note I think USCIS - ICE needs to visit this place - something seems out of place.

We entered to eat breakfast at 5:45 am. When the waitress came to take our order, we replied we're not ready so we told the waitress to give us some time. When she came back we asked for coffee. She returned 25 minutes later to only take one of our orders. Others entered the restaurant, and we were forgotten. We had to get the manager's attention and he did nothing. He said he would call the police, because the waitress told him we wanted free food. We replied go ahead, we did nothing wrong, and you are not treating us fairly.
We didn't get served anything BUT COFFEE. Then after speaking with the manager, we left after his threat to call the police. As we were walking out the door 2 police officers entered, and we spoke with Officer Cook of the Arlington County's Police Department. He in turn spoke with the manager and gave us contact information which lead us to you.

We arrived there on Monday 5th, 2004 at about 10:35 am. We were told by the employee handling the seating that the wait would be about 25 minutes. We waiting for about 25-30 minutes in packed waiting area. Some of the tables we could see were perfectly clean and empty yet the waiting room was totally full to a point people had to wait outside.
Finally we were led to our seats. We watched a few minutes later other people being seated behind us and in front. Still looking around most of the tables were empty, nearly half of them were. We waited and waited for nearly 15 minutes for our server to actually comes and take our order, by this time even the people that came in after out were already receiving their order. Out server was never around and when he was around he was serving his only other table, the one in front of us. He neither apologized for this, nor he seem to care.
Buy the time we actually made our orders, the table behind of and in front had already been served, and exactly 25-30 minutes of waiting and STILL not receiving our orders (by this time not only had the table in front of us were nearly done with their breakfast, but a few tables actually seated after us were leaving). If anyone out there finds this completely disrespectful and disgusting quality of service I ask you to never eat their.
Well for one consequence it was a simple breakfast for someones birthday. How's that.
