WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT PUT MONEY ON A WAL-MART MONEY CARD! Someone somehow stole my card # and charged almost $700 to Wonderland Canada Amusement Parks and wiped out my account! After speaking with about 15 different idiots that barely spoke English at Wal-Mart Money Card, they informed me that it does not matter what name or billing address is used to make online purchases as long as the card # is correct and there is sufficient money to cover the purchase!
WHAT A CROCK OF CRAP! What is the point of setting up all of the security features if they don't matter? How can Wal-Mart, an American company that supposedly cares about its customers partner with a company that continues to cheat people out of money every minute of every day? I have made numerous calls to Wal-Mart with absolutely NO response from them! I think it is time that everyone, nation wide and beyond, know how crooked they are and I am just the person to make sure this happens.
I will be contacting the media today as well as an attorney to make sure Wal-Mart is held responsible for their actions. I would like everyone that has had an issue with their money card to please contact me at ** so that we can all join in and file a class action lawsuit against Wal-Mart and Green Dot. They make millions every day off of consumers so it's time they pay for their reckless and despicable behavior. Thank goodness I am persistent and did my own investigation into my situation because had I not, nothing would have been taken care of by either Wal-Mart or Green Dot.
After countless hours of phone calls with Wonderland Canada and their credit card processing company, I was able to find out exactly who made the charges and a warrant was issued for his arrest yesterday. Wonderland Canada has been very helpful in correcting this fraudulent charge but the fact is, it should have never been approved by Wal-Mart Money Card to begin with. This person did not use my name or my billing address when making the purchase so why was the charge not declined? Every bank and credit card company protects its customers by making it mandatory that the name and billing information must match or the charges will be declined so why is Green Dot allowed to get by with not doing this?
Why would Wal-Mart not make sure the company they partner with is using the highest levels of security to protect its consumers? ANSWER = Because they don't care! I am asking everyone to please post as many posts to your social media accounts as possible warning people not to use Wal-Mart Money Card and to boycott Wal-Mart until they step up to the plate and do something to fix the very serious security issue!

I've used this card for 5 years with no problem. Two days ago, I stopped at the market for a few things, and the card was declined, although I have 886.00 on it. It doesn't expire until 3/2015. I called Customer Service in India and was told a security block was put on my card for my own safety, and a new card was mailed in April - 2 months ago. I said I have been using the card all along through the end of June with no problem. The guy said I had to wait 7-10 days before a new card was issued to access my money. I am broke!
I called again; when I got home, the agent said he took off the block temporarily, so I should immediately go to a store and take out as much money as I needed til the new card arrived. The card was declined. I called back and another agent said it's okay, the system was just updating, call back in one hour. When I called back, the Call Center was closed. Yesterday morning I called again, and was told everything was fine, there were just technical difficulties. I tried the card again. Still no money.
I called back and was told I could not access my money until a new card arrived in 7-10 days. What? Again? But he said they could "expedite" the card and I would receive it in 3-5 days, maybe sooner. He transferred me to a supervisor. I told the supervisor about the different responses I received, and he said he was sorry, but the customer service agents often lie. Then why are they there??? He said, maybe my employer could pay me in cash this week. I work for a large insurance company, they don't do that.
I told this supervisor that this was their error, and they should do something to allow me access to my money, that I didn't have money for food or gas to go to work. He said there was nothing to be done, except to allow 7-10 days for a new card. He said the "expedited" card was another lie by the agents and apologized. He said they sent a new card in April, have I checked my mail? It's June! I check my mail every day. Something is going on. I don't know if a new card is really being sent or not. Maybe he lies too. I am borrowing money from my neighbors, and tomorrow morning at work, I have to stop my direct deposit before they trap that money too. Several of my automatic withdrawal bills have already declined.
I've read a lot of the complaints here, and I wonder why no one has held Walmart or the bank responsible. They leave us in the hands of a call center in a 3rd world country, with agents who are barely intelligible, and where apparently it is ok to lie and financially damage Walmart customers. If there is a class action lawsuit, I would like to know about it. Sign me up!

I have been a loyal customer of the Walmart Green Dot money card for approximately 5+ years. The particular cards I held were called the "Student Pack." The cards were sold to me under the premise of being an inexpensive alternative to Western Union & MoneyGram. I was the primary on the account and my mother, who lives in Georgia, was the other card holder. The cards proved to be much more cost efficient money transfer methods, as well as a level of financial security for my mother and I. We found that by loading the card and paying bills from the cards, we limited the exposure of our primary bank accounts. The cards had become a necessity to our financial security as well.
On June 24, 2014, my mother bought a $25.00 money pack to load onto the card and was denied. The recording stated that the card had been deactivated and that we were NEVER to be Green Dot card holders again in the future. Clearly thinking that either a mistake was made or my account may have been compromised in some way, I contacted the customer service department by the number on the back of the card. I was connected with a representative named Glena, who informed me that my card had been disabled due to what they called "suspicious re-load activity." Naturally, this led me to assume that my account had indeed been hacked, so I asked her for the dates and amounts of this suspicious activity. Her first response was that she could not divulge that information to me.
After a roughly 10 minute exchange between her and I, she informed me that on June 10, 2014 a $20.00 deposit was made to the card and approximately 2-3 hours later, another $50.00 deposit was loaded as well. According to Glena, that in itself was one of the suspicious re-load activities that cancelled my card. I informed Glena that I sent the $20.00 to my mom to give to my son for an activity with his 4-h group, and then sent her another $50.00 to help her on a bill. Glena first told me that I should have loaded the whole $70.00 instead of the two smaller loads. Then she went on to tell me that money transfer was not the card's intended use. I then informed Glena that the cards were originally sold to me as a more cost efficient way to send money, and my mother and I had been transferring money to each other for over five years using this method without it ever being a problem.
After another half hour of arguments, Glena stated that the cards were deactivated and that I'd have to find another card carrier. I, at that point, asked to speak with a supervisor because I had direct deposits coming to my card as well as automatic bill payments set up. First she tells me that I can't speak with a supervisor. Then after more arguments, she says that she'd have a supervisor call me within one hour. One hour and twenty minutes later I had to call customer service back because I never heard from a supervisor.
This time, a gentleman named Chris connected me directly with the compliance supervisor named Shally. After a series of rude remarks, Shally rested on the company's right to terminate service without prior warning to the customer. I repeatedly asked Shally to point out to me which rule in the terms and agreements I had broken, and she could not do so. The last person I wad passed to was Jes, who was the rudest of all, and he told me that I was just "out of luck." I am currently seeking legal remedies as well as contacting Walmart and Visa. Green Dot is a sham and a disgrace to the financial world. I will NEVER again in life have anything to do with Walmart Money Card or Visa pre-paid debit cards. They have cost me tremendous inconveniences, and their level of professionalism is dismal.

I bought and loaded a Walmart Green Dot card today with 300 dollars. After I activated it, I went to pay for my car. It was declined 5 times. Well those 5 times cost me $7.95 each. When I called customer service, they said you can only make purchases with the card at Walmart. Once the card with my name on it, I can use it other places but not bill pay. What kind of scam are they running screwing people out of money? I will boycott Walmart from here on out. No more shopping there and I will do everything in my power to make sure people know they are a rip off.

My card expired while relocating to another state, card was declined. New card was sent to the old address and I did not have a forwarding address as of yet. I called them and they told me there was no way of accessing my funds (e.g., corporate office or location nearest with proof of identification). They said it would take seven to ten business days to get a new card (bummer). "I'll deal with it and cope for the meanwhile". I ordered a new card. Called 14 business days later and they had no record of me ever calling in and ordering a new card! I decided to close my account and wait another 9-12 business days to receive a "refund check" for my money... They would not give any confirmation number or name to hold responsible for experience!

I had purchased an item twice on eBay for an ASUS RT-AC66u. When I purchased the item, it did not go through, so I did it again. Stupid mistake on my part. I called all parties involved to get this straightened up. Not a problem with all others, except Walmart money card. It takes them 10 business days to get your money back in the account. I get up in the morning checking the account. The money was in there. Went on my way, but when I get home it was gone. When you call, no one knows what's going on. Please, learn from others and stay away from Walmart Money Card. THEY DO NOT CARE! I think they should change some things before I go through them again or at all.

I purchased a Walmart money card from Walmart and when I tried to activate the card, I received a message that the card number and the security code did not match. When I called customer service, they told me the card number I was given didn't exist in their system. I went back to the Walmart store I purchased the card for and they notified me that the card was scanned correctly and activated. They told me to call customer service again and request a refund that I would receive in 24 hours. I called and emailed customer service and received an email back saying my case was CLOSED!! I call and told them my case cannot be closed because the card still doesn't work and they still have my money. The supervisor told me I need to email them a copy of the card (front and back) along with the receipt and ref number and they will review it... taking 5-7 business days.
I will let everyone I know to stay away from Walmart Money Card. They don't care about their customer and sell product that has already been purchased. The card was for my daughter going out of state - an additional $101.88 in already hard times. They take your money and then ask you to prove why you deserve it back. Just refund me if your system is so messed up. DO NOT PURCHASE A WALMART MONEY CARD.... EVER!!! THEY DON'T EVEN DESERVE ONE STAR OF "ANGRY"... THEY DESERVE -5 STARS.

My son works in another State in remote areas. I help him manage his money and the best way we could come up with for his paychecks to deposit was with the Walmart money card. It's been much trouble dealing with it. The biggest problem is that he broke the card. I called and ordered a new one, but with the same account number. It takes 7-10 days for a new one to arrive and when it finally did arrive, it would not activate! When I finally got through to the Spanglish speaking rep, after going through about 7 steps of automation, I found out that when you order a "NEW/Replacement" Card that the current account number is cancelled.
So here I am, locked out of any access to the money and they explain that someone should have told me that it would be a new account number and card. The said card is on its way (another 7-day wait) and until that time, the account is frozen. I have had to front/wire my son money while a good amount of money is 'frozen' on his account. This has been a major inconvenience! Walmart money cards are NOT the way to go. Find another way to manage your money. All of the reps are foreign and speak terrible English. They cannot answer your questions well and there are no solutions to any problems. They just say over and over "We are sorry!" Bottom line - Don't deal with Walmart Money cards! They're horrible!

I was paid today. I went and pumped some gas. After that I went to work. When I got to work I tried to pay some bills and it said I had insufficient funds. I called the customer service line and it said I made a withdrawal totaling the amount left on my card. I called the company and they said someone from Great Britain has access to my account and used all of the money and that I would have to wait till it hit to file the complaint. Also they said it's gonna take 10 to 30 days for me to get my money back. Mind you, I have bills to pay, I need gas to get back and forth to work. This is really not right. They need better protection on the products they sell. Oh and no I did not use this card to make online purchases. I did not answer Mr ** that always send those emails. But somehow they still got access to my money. Damn them.

I went to the store to get a gallon of milk. It was June 3 (yesterday) and my SS check gets deposited on the early AM hours on each 3rd of the month. But I had money on the card prior to the auto deposit was to post. I went to pay for the milk and the card declined - saying call main office… Contact main office. While standing there, I received my daily txt update I receive from Walmart on my phone, and I turned the screen to show the clerk. She cancelled and tried again and it again declined with call contact card co.
SO I went to called the 800 # on the back of my card. A recording informed me they had decided to cancel my card. If I had any auto deposits I would need to make other arrangements. They had returned an auto deposit check 5-30 and returned the check (my SS comes in on the 30th? And they don't post it to ME, my acct till the 3rd??). HMMM... someone is making interest. So the message went on to say if I agreed to them closing my acct to press ONE, if not I could connect with a person to discuss.
I had another family member they closed an acct on as well as a couple of other persons and learned IF you talk to someone, they don’t give you access to your money ON the card and can take as long as they want to process it to you. SO of course I pressed ONE and it said I was allowed now to use the money that was on my card but could not add any more funds to the card. I received no letter or call or email to inform me of them closing the acct. I still have access to my online acct for checking balance and such and on it, no place does it state the acct is inactive or went inactive and closing. No dates, no notes, NADA... What gives?? How can they do that and WHY?? WHY being my biggest question. Being that I have had this card over 5 years and never had any issues problems or nada. I was a good customer. IS Walmart closing out customers randomly or closing down all their Walmart MoneyCards since it sold out to the other Bank?? Wish someone would know something.

I used to have a large amount on my card. I would get direct deposits from work to it because I traveled a lot. I would have $4k-$5k. You're supposed to be able to get tax returns to this thing. Now there is a daily limit of $2999 you can put on it? You have to dig on their website to find this info. Try to get customer service: someone with broken spanglish will answer. I used this card for years except for the past year due to a serious health issue. It's almost comical after dealing with the VA and SSDI to go through this.

I was then told when I dialed the number on the back that I couldn't answer the security questions and that I had to fax a copy of my ID and social security card. The first day, the fax number didn't work. The next day, I was given another fax number. It didn't work. When I asked for a supervisor she then said she was a supervisor and I asked for a corporate number. She said she couldn't give it to me. I contacted Walmart and they gave it to me. I called someone and then found out I had to fax my info with an assigned case number so I did and now this is week two and now they keep saying they didn't receive it. What do I do?

I so wish I had done this earlier. I lost half my hard-earned income due to whatever this problem is two years ago. I made the mistake of purchasing multiple blue Walmart cards in hope that the money I earned would have been safe. To my dismay it was the complete opposite and I'm beginning to learn that I am not alone. :/ It started when I defaulted on my bank accounts with chase and Wells Fargo. I had overdrawn my accounts by $60 and my debt began to grow. Eventually my accounts closed and my credit score lowered. So for years I could not open another bank account. I decided to try using gift cards and prepaid cards to hold my money due to being robbed for a couple thousand dollars several times. I know it was stupid of me to carry so much but what was I supposed to do if my bank accounts were not allowed to open and as I started working again which was the reason I had to close my accounts anyways due to losing my job?
For a while the cards were working great and I was happy that I chose to use them. But one day it began to start acting fishy and I was told it was just a glitch and my money would still be there. Not much so as I lost $2500. I quickly started emptying my cards as quick as I could and barely left with half of whatever I put onto them. :/ I was embarrassed by friends and family who I told worked great and even have away many as gifts with 20$ on them. I feel extremely stupid now because I lost a lot of money and now to this day I am broke and can't even pay my month to month bills. I didn't even think money could get stolen off these cards because they weren't even real credit cards. Anyways that's my addition to everyone's comments. Thank you for making a forum and bringing me above my shame of stupidity to talk about my misfortune!

I purchased the Wal-Mart money card to have a portion of my paycheck deposited and the card to be used online. My second day of activating the card it was declined at the grocery store and the gas station making me look like a homeless letch. I called customer service and they told me they were having difficulty with the AT&T network, but the problem had been resolved. The next day I called customer service just to verify that my balance was up to date and that the card was working. They assured me it was, but it was declined at the restaurant where I had taken clients out to eat.
I lost a client, had to run to another bank to get cash for lunch or they were going to press charges, and customer service told me they had no record of a declined transaction and if I wanted a refund I would have to wait 7 to 10 days for a check to be issued. Wal-Mart is in way over their head. When I called back to complain, I immediately asked to speak to a supervisor. They told me they would have to "try and find one". When they finally said they "found" one, I was then transferred to someone who only spoke Spanish. Never again will I trust Wal-Mart or Green Dot with any portion of my hard earned money.

We live in Utah and had planned a trip to Disneyland - so ALL of our money was on our Walmart Money Card. We made it down to California and the first day in the park - our card declined when purchasing food but the balance said we still had over $2000 so we called the number and they said our card had been frozen for fraud protection because it was used in multiple states. We told them we are in California and had made purchases in Utah, Nevada and California and that was it - so they unfroze our card and we tried to pay for our meal again and it declined again.
So we checked the balance again and it was at -$2 so we called back right away and we were then informed that someone had spent ALL of our money in Houston, Texas between Walmart and Walgreens and even took $400 out of an ATM. So we inform them we are now stranded in a different state with not a penny and they didn't care we weren't even able to check into our hotel because we had no security deposit. It was miserable. We had saved and made sure we had plenty of money for our family Vacation. Then it was ruined in a second - and Walmart GreenDot MoneyCard didn't care at all.
All they said is they would have to wait for the charges to go from pending to posted, then I could call back in to report the fraud and it would take anywhere between 10 to 45 days to investigate it. So horrible. Worst experience of our lives to be stranded with nothing. Luckily my mother had given each of my kids a Disneyland gift card so we were able to get food with that and because it happened so late, we couldn't even find a Western Union to receive money. We had to wait till the next day and we were lucky a family member was able to send us money to get us by and get home, but it wasn't as much as we had saved so we weren't able to do a lot of things that were planned to do.

My wife and I have had our Walmart Money card for about 5 years now. Up until she retired her teacher's salary was put on it by direct deposit every month. When she retired, she had her Teacher's Retirement put on it by direct deposit. On March 26 we put $100 on the card at the store and bought some groceries and paid for my yahoo website. On the 28th, My wife tried to use it at Sonic to get a $3.00 burrito and found that she couldn't even though the account said that we had $23.00 on the account. She tried to use it later at the store thinking that maybe it was just Sonic's machine, but still was unable to use it.
On the 31st when her retirement was supposed to go on, we checked the account and found that it still only had $23.00 on it. So we called the number of the phone on the back. We were told that our card had been blocked due to unusual activity. I tried to talk to the person, but the person just said there was nothing she could do. I asked what the unusual activity was and she said she didn't know. So we got a number from the Green Dot website, for public relations and a woman told me that the card had been permanently blocked for unusual activity and we would be able to spend what we had on it, but they sent the Teacher's Retirement back. She also said we would not be allowed to have another Green Dot or Walmart Card, since Green Dot has a contract for all Walmart prepaid Debit cards. I asked to speak with her supervisor and she put me on hold, but I got cut off.
I called back and got someone in the Philippines. This guy told me the same thing. I read off all the debits and deposits and asked him to tell me which one was unusual, and he said that for security reasons he was not allowed to tell me which one of my debits and/or deposits were unusual. Because of this, we have had to get another card, have her check put on that card and wait two more weeks to get it, which means that for the next two weeks, we will be late paying bills and my medications will have to wait. I don't think that this is very fair.

Went to use my card for a small purchase, but the charge was declined. Checked my balance via the customer service # on back of the card, it was $0. Pulled up the transaction history Online and noticed there were 47 unauthorized charges made totaling $4100, all PENDING. Immediately notified the out-sourced, script reading "customer service" department of the fraudulent activity. Told they would close that account and issue a new card (7-10 BUSINESS days to receive), and provide a transaction dispute form to dispute the charges (AFTER THE CHARGES POST)! Waited 7+ days for the pending charges to post and finally was able to dispute the charges. Told "investigation" would take 10 BUSINESS days to conduct. Mind you, I have no money and the new card still had not arrived in the mail.
Waited my 10 days for the so called "investigation" to be conducted only to be told, "SINCE THE CARD WAS IN YOUR POSSESSION AND A PIN # WAS USED, CLAIM DENIED!! CHARGES WILL REMAIN ON YOUR CARD AND DEEMED AUTHORIZED"... I kid you not! This is what I was told. Every single charge was made at an online/.com store. To my knowledge no PIN # is required to shop online. And because the card was “in my possession" you deemed all activity valid?? I don't even know how to respond to that! Thank goodness a handful of the establishments fraud detection software kicked in and many charges were reversed by the vendor - NOT Walmart/Green Dot! I've contacted the 20+ merchants remaining fighting to get the remaining $1500 in charges reversed only to be told to "dispute the charge with my bank." Recently someone used my card in another state. All I had to do was report the card number as stolen (they gave me a case number for the dispute) and fill out the dispute form found on their website. Once I faxed the form and in 10 days they verified that it was indeed stolen and refunded me my whole $789.16. I see a lot of complaints about stolen money on cards and I think y'all should try and do the dispute like I did. It worked out fine in my favor.

We live in Texas and on March 14, 2014 we tried to pay our rent and other bills and were declined. We checked our account and someone in Orlando, FL had used our card at 3 different CVS pharmacies! They got $698.44 in transactions!!! I have contacted Walmart customer support and they are no help!! I keep getting the run around and on you need to do this now do this and we understand crap!! I actually contacted CVS corporate myself and they were more helpful than Walmart!!! Unfortunately they need Walmart to contact them in order to get my refund. But trying to get Walmart to do anything or even speak clear English is IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! I wrote my local news station after reading these reviews because it seems Walmart is aware of these account hacking and they are not warning the consumer! Total BS!!! I am now switching to a Chase prepaid card that is protected by chase bank and they assured me this type of situation would not happen there! Had I known Chase bank offered this same type of prepaid card except with free ATMs and better protection, I would have done this a long time ago! Screw you Walmart!

I bought a Walmart money card. The blue one for $3. I called customer service up to add my fiance to my account. A customer service lady walked me through the process and everything was successful. My fiance used my account info for his tax refund. It was direct deposited on Feb 26th, 2014. I called my card and it said they have received the refund but it was sent back cause the info didn't match. I immediately called and they said it was because the card was in my name and tax refund was in his. I told them that I added him to my account and she said there was no record of this ever happening. She said it will take 2 business days for IRS to receive it. Its been 3 weeks and IRS stills says they do not have it. I called Walmart back and they said to get a tracking number from IRS so they can track and do a investigation and call back. My fiancee called IRS and they said they don't have a tracking numbers.. So finally the IRS said they will put a trace on it and still nothing. Walmart says it's out of their control. Walmart money card is a money scam ran by people in India... I mean if Walmart doesn't have it and IRS doesn't have it, then where is it? Neither place has no idea where it is... Warning: do not get a Walmart money card... Try Account Now. I've never had a problem out of that one.

Card company told me it would take 2 weeks & I said it wasn't acceptable. They sent me back to Walmart who laughed me out of the store.

I guess Walmart can take your money and keep it at their own option. I called the number on the back of my card, and they're closed on the weekend. The call center directed me to the internet where I was instructed to download something to even get into the website. After the download, the website would not give me access to my account. It just kept turning red. I will gracefully bow out of the cash card Walmart scam has going to keep my hard earned cash. From this day forward I will never step foot into Walmart again. On 3/11/2014, I attempted to pay for time only to get declined several times. I looked up my account on my phone only to be shocked to see that nearly $2200.00 had been pending on my card. I immediately called the company and when I finally got a service agent on the phone, he responded, "We have been awaiting your call. We had noticed some unusual activity on your card and closed the account. We can issue you a new card and it will take 10-14 business days to arrive or you can get it in 3-5 business day for $20." (Well I needed my card so I opted for the 3-5 business days.)
As for the pending posts I had to wait until they posted. Well they posted 3/12/2014 and I called them back and filed a Transaction dispute form. (Mind you if they would make this much more easier to complete with an electronic signature and email directly through the site would be helpful, as I had to complete the form, print it off, sign it, scan it back onto my computer and email to them). Called them about an hr later to verify that it was received. It was but they kept telling me there was no attachment. So I resent it and called them back a forth time.
This time they were able to open the attachment and see the form. I was told that it would be up to 10 business day to get this matter taken care of, dispute made or declined or to ask for more documentation on the matter. The word "declined" bothered me deeply. I let them know that this phrase is not satisfactory and disturbing to say the least. I informed them that I was going to file a police report with my local authority for these transactions that took place in FL. I am in Nebraska and did not shop Target in Deerfield or Publix in Coconut Creek.
Only an apology and we understand what you are going through, but we have up to 10 days to get this matter handled unless we need further info from you. What more can I give them? I did not use my card for these transaction nor did I give authorization for them. I did not lose my card and requested the $3 fee be removed as my card was not stolen or lost, it was compromised. I was told that I should hear something no later than 3/27/14. That's a long time to get my monies back.
I want justice taken on the perpetrator who compromised my account and used is fraudulently. I did phone Publix and spoke to a manager and gave him info for him to research the activity via video. Target on the other hand was not cooperative. We shall see about that. So, to whomever is compromising debit cards and if you happen to read through this..Watch out. I am filing a police report against you and seeking legal action. This is fraud and a felony act. Redemption :)

I have had this card for 6 years with no incident until 7 March. Charges started showing up for "Coach USA" out of NJ. I check my account daily when I saw the first transactions. I contacted the number given and they said they would dispute and reverse the charges. I had already paid some bills with the card which were still pending. I asked what would happen with those if I cancelled the card and was assured those transactions would go through and only the disputed ones would be taken off. The next day more disputed transactions showed up even though the card was already reported as compromised.
A new card was supposedly issued where I saw the fee had been charged to my new card but also the disputed transactions! The new charges were coming out of London and also Georgia. I tried to reach the service number only to never reach anyone this time and given the run around electronically. I was referred to a "Benefits" specialist which actually was a live person who only referred me back to the same number. I have tried hard to build up my credit rating and am fearful this will affect that. I was never notified that their system had been compromised. What I did notice was the disputed transactions had shown up after I was sent a text from Walmart stating I needed to update my info online to ensure I still received daily text for account balance. I am thankful I never went direct deposit to them and they can keep the new card. I want nothing to do with them after this. I would rather stash my money under the mattress so to speak.

Walmart Money Card Green Dot does NOT protect your money... Everyone should be aware. I made a deposit of $500.00 paid $3.00 to have it put on my Walmart Visa card and today got it all taken away from a lot of unknown locations ending with balance coming from a Target in New York and I live in IL. However Walmart Visa will NOT help me. They advised me I cannot even dispute the charge until the 15th because it is in a pending status then I have to give them 10 business day to investigate. However I tried to use my card today knowing I had just made deposit and my $89.95 charge was declined. They have told me their policy doesn't allow me to dispute a charge that is pending which the charge at Target in New York at 2:00PM EST is still pending so that cannot stop it but they stopped my charge at 2:30 PM CST.
Everyone needs to know there is not security with Walmart. They are just as much to blame as Target because they will not help you. I still have my receipt for my deposit 3-6 and I TRIED to report dispute within 30 minutes of charge in New York and Walmart WILL NOT HELP ME. They can tell me where it happened at what time. I ask them to call Target, have Target check cameras and Call Police. I was advised their policy does not work like that. Please advise our community their money is not safe on Walmart Money Card. If you need any more details I would love to share with you. I spoke to 9 supervisors and only got my card with 0 balance placed in a compromised status. Thank you.

I am livid!!! My card worked fine while using it for the first few months. I have another card which I have used direct deposit on for over a year. I listened to all the ads saying have your tax refund added to your Walmart Money Card. I wish I had never done this. Even though your name and Social Security Number have to match in order for you to even apply for one of these cards, once I had the largest amount ever on a Walmart card from my tax refund on it, it instantly locked. The time I have been trying to get it unlocked, I would have been better off getting a paper check.
Not only are the people that I have to speak with from India and most of the time not understandable, they really have no idea what's going on with my card most of the time. My information that I sent to verify my identity was supposed to be reviewed within 8 to 10 business days. The documents I sent with their approval to verify my identity was a birth certificate, marriage license, and social security card, since I had not needed a License (stay at home mom, literally, lol) since it had been stolen over 4 years ago, they said these forms of ID would be work. After reviewing my information they said they would still need a government issued ID.
So I had to go and apply for this which would be mailed to me in 8 to 10 business days. They closed the first investigation into my card, only to have to open another once my Government Issued ID had arrived and I could fax it to them. Their primary fax line for this information was down at the time I needed to fax my information to them, so I had to fax it to one of the offices of the customer support team, which once received had to be attached to my newly opened investigation which they had another 8 to 10 business days to complete. The second customer support representative that I spoke with was supposed to give me a call back once the fax was received and after he had attached it to my investigation report. However after almost 24 hours of no call back, I had to call them. And now I am still waiting on them to verify the information given so that they can unlock my card.
Also I requested to speak with their supervisor in regards to the customer support representative that was supposed to give me a call back and attach my newly faxed Government Issued ID to my case and did not do either. Of course this was not possible. So I awaiting a call back from someone higher up with a reference number to my complaint that I was given, and out of all the times someone had supposed to have called me back, I have yet to receive even one call back.
If you want your Tax Refund back quickly, this is not the way to go. As soon as I do receive my money, I am withdrawing it and closing my card immediately. This has put me behind on many bills, purchases that I only get to make one a year, and I am so upset after waiting almost a month past receiving my money on my card I am still waiting to be able to use it. Please do not get this card.

And then went to a desktop computer, attempted it and receive several more error messages. I contacted the number on the back of my card. You must enter your card number before you could go farther with anything or directed anywhere. When I enter my card number, it always give me the voice recording stating that I must go online to activate my card and it hangs up.
I started using other prompts and ways to get to customer service. The customer service rep then tell me that I must activate the card online. They could not activate that particular card over the phone. I tried and tried again from several computers and still receive error messages. My last attempt was on March the third 2014 and I receive the same results. I then asked for a refund using the prompts from the IVR which took me to customer service who then told me I needed to activate the card in order to receive a refund. I've told him, "That's the whole problem and whole reason why I want a refund, because I cannot activate the card that I purchased in February." Even tells me he's transferring me to the activation department. I get the same voice recording after that into the card number. It hangs up on me and tell me to activate the card online. I've made over 40 to 50 calls to customer service. I've even try to contact Green Dot bank and they transfer me to the Walmart money card voice recording system again! It's a month later and my card still is not activated and it seems as if I can't get a refund either. I feel like I've been taken advantage of.

My husband and I have used a Walmart Money Card for years. Now, come to find out, their money card system has been compromised. Several cards have been hit, and ours was one of them. When we first noticed, we were missing about $800. We called the customer support, and the Indian woman we spoke to said that the transaction hadn't gone through yet, so there was nothing we could do. We told her that it better not go through, because we were not authorizing it. She said the card numbers had probably got crossed, and somebody else had charged that money to their card, but it came off of ours...which doesn't even make sense. She suggested that we take the rest of the money off our card and have it cut off.
We looked up the city where the money was withdrawn from, and it was somewhere in London. We tried to do an ATM withdrawal to get the rest of our money, but we couldn't because the scammers had already withdrawn the maximum amount possible in one day. Well, the next morning, our last $400 was gone. We called again the next morning, and were given pretty much the same run around. At this point, we're missing $1200. We have $9 to our names, which we can't even access. Our rent and car payment are coming due soon.
We insisted on talking to a supervisor, even though the rude people we were talking to informed us that a supervisor could not give us back our money. We said we know, but we want to let them know how upset we are with the way this has been dealt with. The supervisor did help a little bit. She explained that there is nothing they can do until the payments are processed, which should be around March 14th. At that point, they will launch an investigation. She didn't expect the investigation to take long, since we obviously couldn't be making purchases in America and ATM withdrawals in London on two separate days. Still, she could not tell us how long it will take for us to get that money back.
In the meantime, we're not sure how our family is going to keep our house, our car, or even eat. And you want to know the real kicker? The supervisor we talked to said that they have been having issues like this with a lot of cards. What that means is that their whole system has been hacked, and they are doing NOTHING about it! They are not warning the customers, presumably because they don't want to lose all the money when people switch to other financial institutions. In other words, Walmart is just LETTING THIS HAPPEN to people! Please, if you value your money, your family, and your well-being, DO NOT get a Walmart Money Card!!!

I purchased the Walmart Money Card Jan. 19, 2014 and I called and got it activated on Jan. 21, 2014 and the card was supposedly mailed on Jan. 23, 2014. Automated system said that card should arrive Jan. 31, 2014 which was the day of my direct deposit on my job. I've called repeatedly since Jan. 31, and customer service kept telling me to wait a couple more days and if I hadn't received permanent card to call back. Yesterday, 2-10-14, no card so I called to report card not received and I was informed that I had two options: (1) Wait on a replacement card 7-10 days or (2) Can get it by FedEx which would require them to debit $19.99 from my account.
Since I have another payday coming this Friday 2-14-14, I chose option 2. From my understanding they said they were going to block my temp card until my replacement arrived. I ask for a FedEx tracking number and was told at the time they don't have it. I called today to get my acct & routing # so that I can go online to pay bills that are due. And the supervisor I talked to told me that he couldn't provide the info because when you pay bills online you can only do it with the actual card, which I know is inaccurate because to pay my student line online it requires the acct & routing # which I used with another prepaid acct. They also stated that my account was also blocked from any further transactions b/c I don’t have the permanent card meaning no online bill payments or online purchases.
When you talk to customer service it’s always somebody with a foreign accent speaking horrible English and I always have to constantly ask them to repeat themselves. I also informed them that I had a car payment that was due on Jan. 31, 2014 and although I explained the situation going on to the dealership. They (dealership) gave me until Feb 14, 2014 to pay, and I asked the supervisor what was I supposed to do, let them repossess my car and tell them that I hadn't received my car still. And the supervisor informed me "Yes, that's what you have to do!" What kind of response is that? I am still waiting on my card via FedEx which they say should arrive in 3-5 business days.

This card, these people are smoke & mirrors. No one speaks proper English, your money will be stolen in a NY minute. The game they play is wait ten business for items you never authorized, to post, in order for you to dispute! Walmart should be ashamed into the synagogues. This type of practice is totally absurd, and unethical. I'm not sure when they will get fined and charged, in the interim, be careful, and do not use their services.

After reading all of these complaints, I see that I am not alone in the Walmart MoneyCard money problems. I have had my card since 2009 and never had any problems until today. I was on my lunch break with a co-worker and when I went to pay my card was declined! I thought maybe it was just an error when the cashier slide it. He attempted to slide it again, and to my shock it was declined once again. Needless to say I had to pay by other means. I stepped outside immediately and called the number on the back of my card.
After going through the automated system it stated my balance was ZERO! Which was not possible being that I had just gotten paid. I waited to speak to an operator and she barely spoke English. The operator told me that there were (2) charges from a Target in NY, mind you I live in Southern California. She then proceeds to tell me there is nothing they can do because the transactions are still pending. After becoming very frustrated with her, she then transferred me to a so called supervisor. Yet again another woman who does not speak very good English. The supervisor tells me I need to contact Target and dispute the transactions with them or I can wait 10 days for them to post. After the post I can then file a dispute.
By now I am beyond livid that no one came seem to help me. I get back to my office and log into my account online. Lo and behold there was not only transactions from (2) different Targets, Marriott, Hilton, and some place called Utopia all in NY. But for some reason all of the transactions besides Target had been credited back to my account. All of these transactions occurred today 2/5/14 from 9am - 2pm. By this time I am livid and call Walmart back for a 3rd time. The operator was a man this time and spoke decent English. I asked him why when I had spoke with the other 2 operators they did NOT inform me of all these other charges. Needless to say he was not helpful just like the others. I then contacted the Target number listed on the scam info, and the Target's where the purchases were made. They were all unsuccessful attempts! No one is willing to help me. I am out a total of $915.68 of my hard-earned money. I have file a report with the Police Department and made a fraud report at FTC.gov.

I faxed a dispute letter which they have received and I'm still waiting for a resolution. I know that this same exact thing is happening to others and this is a big scam by Walmart. On December 5, 2013 my son and I both purchased a Walmart Moneycard. In 7-10 business days he received his but as of February 3, 2014 I still have not received my personalized card. I have been on the phone with Walmart every 11 business days only to be told the first 3 times that my card was not able to be delivered to my address. I have had no problems receiving any other mail or packages at this address. On January 16, 2014, I called yet again and spoke with a supervisor who told me the FedEx rush delivery fee would be waived and I would receive my card in 3 days.
After 3 days I called back and was told it was actually 3-5 business days. On 1/24/14 I called again and spoke with a supervisor, was on the phone for 30 minutes and was told to give it through the 24th because of the holiday. I asked for a FedEx tracking number and they could not find one. On 1/28/14, I called again and was told I would receive the card on 1/30/14, still no tracking number. I just got off the phone today after 40 minutes and was told I would receive it tomorrow but they still could not provide me with a tracking number. I had filled out the direct deposit payroll slip so my paycheck is being direct deposited. I found out when I got paid on January 24th and could not withdraw any money because it was not a personalized card. I am being paid again Feb 7th. I am beyond frustrated and pissed. I am changing my direct deposit information AGAIN tomorrow for my paycheck. This has been nothing but a hassle.

So we use a Walmart prepaid visa to pay all our bills and this past week found out they cancelled our account and said we would never be able to have another account. After a week of trying to get thru to a real person, I was able to talk to someone from India who told me that we were blocked because we load too much money on our card and it looks like suspicious activity. Really? I tried to get her to go more in depth with an explanation and she just kept repeating herself over again. I finally cussed her and hung up. So it's now suspicious activity to load too much money on a prepaid card. Imagine that. Not to mention we were never contacted. We found out by going to the grocery store and having our card declined, even though there was money on there. Very embarrassing. We have had this card for years. Needless to say, this is a very unethical company.

When I called Walmart, they said it's because the card is a temporary card and they will send me the permanent card. I waited a month and never received it.
I called Walmart again and they said it's because I haven't selected a "picture" for the new card. I told them their website won't generate a confirmation code to my email that I need for their website red tape. They told me they don't have internet access so I have to try again myself (the lady had an Indian accent - no internet???). I told them I'm tired of messing with you and want my money back. I was also asked to verify my sister-in-law's birthday. How many people would know that. I've been divorced for ten years. I didn't have a clue. She told me if I didn't answer it she would have to deny me. At that point I felt like someone else had used my name or identity. I would have not used that as a security question because I don't know my sister in-law's birthday. I was also told that I could only get a temporary card because I couldn't answer her questions. Her questions weren't clear and didn't make sense to me. I was angered because when I think of Walmart, I think of this big company that is successful based on everyday People like me. I know the person I was speaking with was from some third world company just for cheap labor. This is a slap in the face to those in America who don't have jobs. Walmart makes money off of everyday people and when we come to them we get a slap in the face that makes us feel less than human. It's been a long time since I felt so low, insulted and humiliated. Walmart has once again given me the runaround about some 10 days BS after the charges post. I don't understand why they can't decline the charges since they are only pending at this time.
They certainly didn't have any trouble declining my charges at the grocery store. That was embarrassing and humiliating! My Walmart Money Card was compromised Saturday, January 18. I thought that maybe I would be spared from any problems because I normally don't carry a big balance on my card. As it turned out, my husband and I were both paid this past weekend so there was several hundred dollars in the Walmart account.
This is my story. My husband and I were enjoying dinner when we decided to pay for our meal. My husband had used the card around 4:30 p.m. to purchase gas and visited another store. We went to dinner and were leaving around 8 p.m. when the server advised us that our card was declined. To my surprise, I offered my Walmart card thinking that he used the wrong card. NOT! The server looked at both of us as if we were trying to run a scam. My husband showed her the text balance that he had just received before we went to dinner... about 5:30ish.
I just gave her my Wells Fargo card while he called to check the balance on the Walmart card. He asked me about a Home Depot charge. I said we have been together all day... what? Well, there were 4 separate charges made to Home Depot made during the same time he was using the card to purchase the gas! There were two charges for $99.99, one for $51.47, and finally one for $32.74. This brought the account down to $0.
We made it home and called Walmart immediately. I was checking online to see where the transactions had taken place and they were made in Boynton Beach, Florida. I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As I was speaking to the "outsourced" customer service department at Walmart, I was told that there was nothing they could do until the charges were actually posted on the account and then we could dispute them. I was further advised until they could complete a ten day investigation my could be returned to my card and that is only if they were finished with the investigation. I advised the "supervisor" that this was a national issue and if she were in the United States she would know what was going on and my funds should be returned to me as soon as possible.
We are a working family and live pay check to pay check... 10 business days will be February 4. I advised the "supervisor" that the charges were made in Florida and she could obviously see that I live in Minnesota. But, she does not work in the US as Walmart outsources their cards. I said, “Lady Minnesota is about 1500 miles away from Florida. I am not trying to scam you I want my money back.” She went on to say that the only way I could get my money is if I contacted Home Depot and have them stop or reverse the charges. It was after 9 p.m. and the department that handled compromised cards was closed.
Sunday morning... I googled the Home Depot and got the telephone number to the store. I advised them that someone had compromised my card and could they please stop and/or reverse the charges as soon as possible. The bookkeeper on the phone said she was not the main bookkeeper and couldn't help me. She said, "Someone would have to call me Monday." Without hesitation, I hung up the phone... highly frustrated and called the Minneapolis Police Department and reported the fraud to FTC.gov. I have no idea what these people know about me. I am at my wits end. I can't get my money back and I am trying to figure out how I can pay my bills.
Monday morning... no call back from Home Depot. Still wondering what Walmart is going to do. So, I called GE Retail Money bank to be told that Walmart handles all of their own issues even though they provide the financial services. No luck, no money, pissed. Oh, I have to mention that Saturday night after speaking with the idiots from Walmart. I called Wells Fargo because I had also used that card and they immediately cancelled my card and put an alert on my checking account. I LOVE THEM! They said that if my account was compromised that I would immediately be reimbursed and my account changed and funded. Got to love the USA.
Tuesday morning... spent over 2 hours on the phone with the Walmart customer service idiots. I advised them that I did not want to speak with anyone else but a US citizen here in the US. I was told I am located in Pasadena. I said tell that crap to someone else lady. If you are in the US, where is Florida located to Minnesota? As she began to advise me that according to the terms and conditions of the card, that they have 10 days to investigate and then I can be conditionally returned my money to my Walmart card.
I said, “Listen lady, I closed the card as soon as I found out that someone was using it so tell me again how are you going to get me my money.” She said we will mail you a check. I said “Check? I HAVE NO MONEY AND MY BILLS NEED TO BE PAID! I am a public service employee and I don't make any money! I have had my card since 2008 and the terms and conditions did NOT STATE 10 DAYS. I READ EVERYTHING! IT SAID ZERO LIABILITY!” She then repeated this section in the terms and conditions over to me and that they could not override the 10 day time frame.
I nice and politely let her know that that was some ** and Walmart is making money off of my circumstances and I planned to blog, Tweet, Facebook, and whatever else I could do to let everyone know that the Walmart money card is horrendous. I promised to write corporate and I plan to boycott Walmart for LIFE! I then was told that I needed to send in a dispute form by fax or email and that I would have an answer on February 4. UNACCEPTABLE! I advised her over and over again. This has taken time from my job, late fees, inconvenienced me, embarrassed me publicly, and now I am broke waiting on a damn check that I will still have to wait 24 hours to clear when I get it. I will have another pay check by February 4th and I am just pissed.
I can't call Target and ask them to give me my money and I can't get my damn money from Walmart. I want to know two things... how could they keep using my card and the exact amount that I had on my card?!!! And why do I have to get penalized for over 2 weeks to get my money back? I will continue to shop at Target because they have been professional about this situation. They still have great products and I love them! I WILL NEVER RETURN TO WALMART EVER AGAIN! They do not care about anything but their profit. GARBAGE!!!! I hope you can get the word out because if you don't use a bank like a local bank or even one as large as Wells Fargo you aren't guaranteed a thing. I read the fine print on the terms and conditions and I had a time frame to send this dispute form in.
I sent them dispute form, police report, and affidavit from the FTC. They still gave me a song and dance as if I was the one to blame. I have also noticed an increase in emails requesting personal information and I have qualified for a mortgage, car loans, and all of the above. I just got my credit back together and now this. I will never be able to get anything on credit. My identity is gone. My credit is riddled with hard inquiries and I don't know what else will show up. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE FROM HELL! Call me if want to know anything else.

So I started a new job last year and decided to try using direct deposit on my money card instead of my checking account. Such a bad idea! First of all, I didn't read the fine print, assuming it was there. You can only withdraw $400 a day. Well, I like to pay all my bills at one time and things like my house note or my children's tuition, charge extra fees for using credit/debit cards so I need to be able to get the cash. But that I wouldn't chalk up to incompetence, just didn't fit my needs.
Allegedly, you are supposed to be able to withdraw money from ATMs at Walmart. Only you get charged a fee for that, too. Then in January 2014, they decided to start playing with my money. My first pay day for the month of January was the 1st. I check my balance, no money. I call and they say they received a late notice from my employer and wouldn't be able to process my paycheck until Jan. 2nd when the banks would be open. What?!
A friend of mine has the same employer and his paycheck was available on Dec. 30. But the killing part is when I checked my transaction record a few days later, they had my direct deposit listed as Dec. 30th. I guess they were holding it for some reason but I don't know what. Then, the day before my next pay date, the 15th, my employer direct deposits a bonus. I wasn't expecting the bonus until the following week so I didn't even realize they had screwed me until I went to my employer's website and saw the check had been deposited. Of course, I call and they have no clue about where my money is and try to blame it on my employer.
I have been putting off switching my direct deposit back to my checking account because you have to physically deliver the change of direct deposit form to HR. But now since I am going to have to miss a day of work anyway to go to my administration building to sign a stop payment on my mysterious disappearing check, I can deliver my change of direct deposit form at the same time. I hope a lawyer is reading this and thinks I have a case. I am losing a day's pay to deal with this foolishness. Not to mention the inconvenience. I am a mother of four and that bonus was already spent. So the delay in clearing this mess up with Walmart card is going to put a strain on my family.

Ok so I started using a Walmart money card for a couple of months because I thought this was a safe and convenient way of paying my bills and other basic uses.... All of a sudden I get moneypak to reload my card when I tried reloading it ..... I got transferred to a customer service rep. They told me they were going to block my card.. also that I couldn't reload no more money and on top of that I couldn't withdraw my money I had left... Besides that they told me I could not get another card with them.. Anyway I asked them why were they doing this but they said they couldn't give me no information and that they cannot pinpoint or explain the reason to this because it was "confidential". I mean this doesn't make any sense to me.. I have the right to know because the money is mine and not theirs.. So after they had said to me that I couldn't withdraw money I went to a Walmart atm and withdrew my money with no problem at all... This means those walmart representatives lied to me..

I've tried various reloadable cards and this Green Dot/WMMC is ridiculous. I had a Green Dot card for a little over a year. I monitor my account very closely. I am still young, so I do not want to go out and apply for a credit card and get caught up with the long term effects of an actual credit card. So, since I do monitor everything I buy, how much I had to begin with, how much I have after the transaction was made, I know exactly how much money I have at all times. I spend quiet a bit of money on small things here and there that add up to be a lot. So through out the night, there would be issues with the system, making my account balance 0.
When the system would be back up, I would be missing around 150 dollars (notice the 150 throughout my complaint). When I would call them, they would take me through "what was on their end" after I would be on the phone with them for 30 minutes to an hour at a time telling them, I made a transaction for 30 dollars and my ending balance was 180 dollars off. They would try and "reassure" me that their site was still messed up and I actually had 150 dollars than I initially thought..... So after almost a year, I slowly buy surely withdrew my money (since you can only withdraw 500 dollars at a time).
I decided to get a WMMC (Wal-Mart Money Card). My fiancee had always had one, gave her no problems, plus it was only 3 dollars to upload money instead of 5 dollars. Everything was working fine for the first few months. Then all of a sudden I noticed whenever I purchased something for around 50 dollars (mainly online to qualify for free shipping) it would always be taken out twice, totaling around 150 dollars each time. Of course, all six times in less than a month that this had happened, it was always the company I had placed the orders with fault.
So I get paid... Direct deposit last month.... It showed my direct deposit for 689.43. However, the way my transactions added up, I was missing just that... 689.43. I talked to everybody at my job, asking if they've had problems with the direct deposit and would you guess?? Nobody had any issues. So I contacted the owner of my company asking for him to check and see that the check was processed through correctly on his side. He actually sat with me, called the bank, checked all of the activity from their end, and would you guess again, everything was perfect on their end. So I again called WMMC and they started to tell me how it wasn't their fault. It was my employer's fault with THEIR transaction... But yet... it shows an upload (which is Direct Deposit) for 689.43. But it didn't go through properly on my job's end??? Then why does it show that is in my account? So three months later, I still have no clue where my $689.43 is. Thank goodness I make way more money than I spend, so I had all 2,800 dollars in bills for that month.
So for the final and last straw. We went to Walmart about a week before Christmas, and I spend $74.34. I get home and I see that I have a double transaction for $74.34. So I called them as soon as they opened the next morning. (Mind you I am very pissed that yet again, around 150 dollars is out of my account, when it should have only been 74 dollars). So of course, it isn't their fault. The company of Walmart along with all 5 companies in the last month, hacked into my account, learned all my information, and made unauthorized transactions. So he ever so politely returned the money back to my account within seconds. He asked me if I wanted to close my card out immediately and get a new one in the mail since my card has been "compromised". I stated no, it was close to Christmas. I still had loads more shopping to do and my card expires at the end of January anyway. So he told, if anything happens again, to call and speak with somebody about freezing the account and waiting to get a new card. So I told him if I had any more issues I would call back, no hesitations. We ended our call and within the week leading up to Christmas I made purchases easy breezy.
So please tell me why last night, I got to order from a site that offered a 24 hour coupon that was 20% to new customers. I get everything I want, I got to check out, and bam!! Declined! So I made sure NOT to submit the order again, instead I checked WMMC.com. In the top corner of my overview page, it tells me how my card has been reported stolen and I have a replacement card that I should have received already and I need to immediately activate it. So I get up, go outside, no card in the mail. Check early the next morning, still no card in the mail. So my fiancee had to call once they opened the second morning because my account information literally no longer existed, and you must provide account information to even speak with a representative.
So I finally get through, speak with 4 different people who tell me the representative I spoke with the week prior to Christmas decided to go back through my account and disable my card because of the unauthorized transaction..... SO! Without me calling and authorizing for him to go back into my account information, he took it upon himself to REMEMBER my information and cancel my card (i.e. report as lost or stolen).
So it's the end of year. I've finally got my bill for property taxes, I have bills due before the 5th of the month.. Oh not to mention I took a week off of work this coming week to buy new paint, carpet, and furniture for my fiancee and my couple's cave. And guess what? I HAVE AN ACCOUNT BALANCE OF ZERO! And all 3 representatives I spoke with and the 1 supervisor I spoke with told me to borrow the money from somebody until I get my replacement card!!! ARE YOU ** KIDDING ME? I have 3,000 dollars in my account. Why would I need to borrow money? Now obviously, I have my fiancee and my mom if I absolutely needed anything... But does he know how it feels to know that I cannot buy a single thing for myself or my family until I get everything fixed from THEIR employees going back into my account a week after the matter had been dealt with?
Oh FYI, if you've had an issue with Walmart Money Card or the GreenDot cards in the past, don't settle for either one.... THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME COMPANY! Yeah, just learned that this morning! I know my complaint is quiet lengthy, however, this company and I have a pretty big past together.

I used the card a few times and my card was blocked where I couldn't load anymore money or have access to the personalized card. I never record my card in the mail. After waiting two weeks I called the customer service. They told me they had been monitoring every transaction. At this point I got very upset because in order to activate the card they ask for all types of personal information. I feel like a prepaid card should not have to be exposed to so much private information. It's almost like the FBI was watching my every move. They ask for way too much private information for such personal and break my rights of freedom and free will to use the card for whatever I want. I suggest anyone using this useless card to rip it to shreds because the card company is monitoring and invading people's private information as well as use of the card and transactions. I've had plenty cards and they do not ask for your social security number, family information. It was almost like some type of martial law that is related to the new world order. I put $1,000 on 2 prepaid Walmart cards. I bought 2 cards and put $500 on each. I put the money on them, and called and activated both cards yesterday at 3 pm. Today is CHRISTMAS EVE, it's 6 pm. It's supposed to take 10 minutes MAXIMUM for the money to load. It is over 24 hours later and my cards still are not working.
I called and talked to a total of 10 people including 3 supervisors. They are all telling me a different story. I cannot check my balance on either card. I call, put my 16-digit card number in, put the expiration date in, and it tells me there are no cards in their system with those account numbers or expiration dates. For both cards. I go to use a card, and for both cards I get a message, "Your bank has denied this transaction due to insufficient funds."
I spoke to a supervisor last night who told me this is a new batch of cards, and she had several dozens calls about this and I just needed to wait a couple more hours because they were having trouble activating them all in such a short amount of time. Well, I waited 8 more hours. NOW they are saying, "No, they ARE activated," and the message I am getting about my bank denying my transaction due to insufficient funds is not true, and that I am trying to make payments wrong. Then the story was that no, they aren't activated and I need to wait a couple more hour. Then it was that I was trying to set up ongoing payments even though it was CONFIRMED I was trying to make a ONE-TIME PAYMENT and that no, it wasn't denied for insufficient funds, even though that is what the message CLEARLY SAYS, and that no, I'm denied because I am trying to set up ongoing payments on a prepaid card, even though again, it CLEARLY says ONE-TIME PAYMENT.
Then the story was that one of the cards is not working and they could transfer the balance to the other card. Well, when I say that card isn't working either, they tell me I'm doing it wrong on that one. Then they tell me to try to pay online. Well, guess what? The only card that shows up is my OLD card that has NO money on it! Even though I have an email from 3 am stating my card was active and click log in to see my balance.
The supervisors will do NOTHING to help me. They are now telling me, "Oh, it's because they are temporary cards," and that I have to wait TWO WEEKS until the permanent cards come in, and THEN call back and they will fix the issue THEN. So I am apparently out $1,000 and NOBODY will help me or give me the correct information. The Walmart I bought the cards from will not help, because the money is showing up as loaded on the cards and they do not handle anything to do with that at the stores - the HOTLINE or WEBSITE is the only place to go for help. The HOTLINE that is lying to me, or the WEBSITE that only shows my OLD card.

We purchased a MoneyCard for our son to go to summer camp. Thereafter, we attempted to get a refund of the residual money on the card. To do so, we had to activate the card but were unsuccessful in doing so, both on the website and the phone system. It is very difficult to reach a human through the automated phone system. After three calls and selecting various phone options, I stumbled upon a human. I requested that the balance be returned via check. The automated phone message informed me that the call would be recorded for "training and quality assurance" and stated that there would be a service questionnaire at the conclusion of the call. The first person was not able to help.
The supervisor stayed on the phone in a 3-way call while I went through the motions, yet again. The supervisor determined that the birth date was wrong, then requested that I fax a copy of an official picture ID. I was prepared to do so, but she could not provide a fax number to which to send the document. She then had me attempt to activate the card again, this time with the erroneous birth date. The activation worked but she immediately hung-up on me. Who knows whether I'll receive the refund. Apparently, Walmart is neither concerned with using the phone recording for quality assurance nor for feedback surveys. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Online bank statement also confirms that funds were deducted from checking account, and a call to Vesta (the company that makes the transfers between the bank and Visa) confirmed the transfer. However, funds ARE NOT available. Again, an email from Walmart confirms that funds are available, yet they are not, purchases are being declined and my Money Card account online shows NO FUNDS available - EVEN THOUGH an email from Walmart confirmed that the funds were loaded and are available. Come on, Walmart, get it together!

My Moneycard account was blocked by Walmart, because of "excessive use" during the Christmas season. I do not understand how this process has to be 10 days before I can get a refund? I'm a veteran, who's unemployed and is a full-time student, who really DEPENDS on my VA (direct deposit) to be there, so not to become HOMELESS. I may starve by then and not have any heat or even Christmas this year, thanks to Walmart's Moneycard compliance office.
My mother just passed away on the 23rd of November and yeah, I have been using my Moneycard to pay Probate court and lawyers and such. I really hope no one else has to tolerate this insensitive act towards their customers, because they just made my Christmas, with my mother's passing, one memorable Christmas of ALL time. Thank you Walmart for showing me the LIGHT! NO MORE WALMART FOR ME FOREVER!!!!!

Went out of the country for Thanksgiving weekend. Walmart in its infinite wisdom decided to suspend all financial transactions to the country I was in for everyone due to fraud issues. Was unable to even make an in-bank withdrawal or use an ATM. Was stuck without funds or being able to eat for days. Called Walmart numerous times, initially I was given some bogus answers about it couldn't be used out of the country (LIE, I have traveled using this card numerous times), then I was told it couldn't be used due to a pending charge from BK from the day prior (MORON, Seriously a $7 charge keeps me from $325? ).
Finally spoke with a supervisor who gave me the real deal, and was completely inept to resolve my situation. They have completely ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation, that I saved up for sometime. I was unable to go anywhere or do anything because of these inconsiderate morons, I was given no redress or assistance. I asked numerous times, "what am I supposed to do?" Each time I was told they don't know and there is nothing they can do. I will definitely be contacting the BBB and also a lawyer to sue them. Tried contacting them again regarding this issue upon returning to the U.S. and the refused to let me speak with there "security department" that made the decision to do this, nor would they put me in touch with the department that is above them either.

I recently tried to use my Walmart MoneyCard to purchase bicycles for my kids for Christmas. Somehow the transaction would not go through and I was okay with that. But then I looked at my account online and noticed that I had a charge pending on my account for the amount of the bikes. I called the company that I was attempting to purchase the bikes from and they told me that I would have to wait until my bank released the hold. They informed me that if I called, the bank would be able to release back to me immediately. HOWEVER, when I called Walmart Money Card they told I had to wait 10 DAYS for my money to be available again but that I would not be able to use it until the 11th day. WTF!!! This is completely absurd and once I get my money back, I will NEVER use a Walmart Card again.

They allowed someone to use my debit card money to withdraw money from an ATM in Miami, FL. I found out about it within just a few hours and called and they accused me of trying to cheat them. I live in Washington State for Pete's sake. How could I make that withdrawal in Florida and then attempt to use the card a few hours later clear across the country? Since then, it has been 11 days and they still have not refunded my money. They say it will be December 6th now. I have been lied to at every phone call I have made and am extremely upset and unhappy with them. I can tell you that as soon as I get the refund on my new card, I will activate it only long enough to withdraw the money and close the account. They are unprofessional and lie at every turn. Their paperwork says they will make a refund immediately but obviously they do not. It looks like I will be lucky if I ever get the money back. If it's not there the date they say, I WILL sue them. (That is an entire other complaint in itself. I believe their placement and advertisement does this on purpose.) I furnished a receipt, wrote four letters and they still refused to refund me my cash. They absolutely refused a refund. You can't get through to an American agent. Their customer service is the worse I have ever had ever and I really believe it is a scam. I guess it takes awhile for legal complaints to get resolved. I reported them to all appropriate agencies and am waiting to hear back on a lawsuit. If your employer tries to give you one of these as your paycheck, you have the right to refuse it and I would.

Got these cards to use for grocery cards at our group homes so they don't have a lot of cash in the homes. I have had nothing but problems with loading them doing a bank to bank transfer using the clients bank cards. I can use the bank card just fine for a few months, then it comes up with that it was denied. When I call in to the number given when it doesn't load, they are rude and the only answer they can give me is that the bank says the bank card I'm trying to use is the wrong address. Which isn't true, because when I call the bank they say there is no problem with it. I don't understand how I can use the same card over and over again with the information saved on the Wal-Mart card site, then one time it's the wrong address. Of course they put a hold on the funds in the bank account and it generally takes 2-3 days for them to release it. If they are not going to let me put the funds on with that particular bank card then they shouldn't be holding the funds. This has happened on several different accounts, numerous times. I'm very displeased with these cards. I'm looking around for other cards and plan on cancelling these. Tired of paying $3 a month plus the $2.95 fee for reloading each time if you can even get it to that. RIPOFF!!!

When I called to check the balance on our Wal-Mart money card MasterCard, I discovered that our account was overdrawn $54.41. I was confused as to how our account was overdrawn when it's supposed to be a pre-paid debit card. So I called customer service and was informed that a transaction had been charged twice and I should contact the business that had started the transaction.
So after speaking with the business, I was advised that I needed to dispute the transaction with Wal-Mart because the two transactions were run under the same approval code and that shouldn't be allowed to happen. I was NEVER at any time made aware that disputing the transaction would immediately flag my account as compromised and that my cards would be reissued. I discovered this to be the case on October 9th.
After checking the balance and realizing that the transaction had been reversed I went to the gas station to put fuel in my vehicle. When I tried my card it was declined. Tried the ATM declined. I called Wal-Mart Customer service to find out that my card had been shut off and my cards were being reissued but not to worry because I would be receiving my new cards no later than October 24th. What am I supposed to do in the meantime?
I spent a week and a half with no food in my house for my children and no gas in my vehicle. I have had to change jobs and am scared to death that the new cards will not arrive so my husband and I will not be able to fuel our vehicles to go to work. I have called the customer service specialist everyday for the past four days...only to be met with false apologizes and to once again be told, "No worries, as soon as the new cards arrive you will be able to access your money."
I even called today to see if I could physically go to a Wal-Mart store and be able to access my money. When I was told that was not an option and I would just have to wait for my new cards which she assured me will arrive by next Thursday, October 24th. These people would be just as upset if they were in our situation so I cannot for the life of me understand why they are so insincere when they are dealing with people in situations caused by their stupidity. I can guarantee that if my cards have not arrived by next Thursday the 24th, there is going to be a BIG problem.

I bought this as a gift for someone and even though it was going to only be used one time, I still had to set up the card (however, when I was completed with the set up, it stated that they could not finish the set up because it was a temporary card). Also, there are no prompts saying you can skip the set-up process and talk to a live person since it is a temporary/gift card. The set up took at least 10 minutes the second time I tried and setting it up online did not work. I had to pause my set-up and when I called back, it did not save any of my information so I restarted the process again (adding another 10 minutes). It will ask for your social security number; however, you do not have to give it if you are not planning on reloading the card or using it at the ATM.
In addition, I set the card up on the 16th of the month and at the end of the recording, it stated that starting on the 26th of the month, there would be a $3.00 charge on the card. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! I have 10 days (not even since I activated it at night) to make a purchase to before they charge me. If this is a "gift" or a "temporary card" as they stated, why am I being charged? DO NOT BUY THIS CARD FOR A ONE TIME USE OR A GIFT. In addition, I think that there are prepaid cards out there that do not charge a fee (at least not within 10 days of activating the card). Just do your research and good luck!

When I went to purchase my winter clothing, the card was declined. I made a trip to the Walmart store customer service center to find out why my card was being declined. I learned that several purchases were made at a Target store using my card information following my cash deposit. I have disputed this with Walmart MoneyCard's dispute resolution center but have been told it can take up to 10 days for them to investigate and then I may or may not receive a refund, or they may elect to continue investigating it.
In the meantime, I am out $997.00 and have been left financially strapped from having to pay for the winter clothes from my checking account because my Walmart MoneyCard was declined. I was advised the purchases were made in-store, but I have the only Walmart MoneyCard on my account still in my possession. So, there are thieves out there that can duplicate the cards and use them. I called and spoke to 2 CS reps then to a supervisor. None of them could tell me ANYTHING. Then go to Wal-Mart to load money on the original card, guess what...the card is blocked. Called again, spoke to a supervisor. He said due to suspicious activity, the card was blocked and I could never get another Wal-Mart card!
That is a flat lie. The only activity the card was used for was purchases at a general store, and loaded at Wal-Mart or with Money Pac. The supervisor yesterday got hot with me and blocked the card. That's ok, Wal-Mart will never get another cent of my money because of this and I will advertise this to everyone I know. They are far from helpful, absolutely the opposite. This time it was a minimum amount of $30.00. I complete an online transaction with Troy State University and showed an error code. Upon contacting Troy State they assured me that this transaction had been reversed immediately into my account.
Upon contacting Wal-Mart MoneyCard they stated that they couldn't see the reversal and that I would be required to wait until 15 Oct 2013 and this transaction was completed on 4 Oct 2013. Troy State offered to send a fax to the company to verify that this reversal was completed. However, Wal-Mart MoneyCard customer service office stated that they couldn't do this. I explained that I was on a deadline and had placed the funds on the card just to complete this transaction and needed to get it back in order to meet the deadline. They just said that they were sorry.
I feel that this is so very unfair to the consumer, if I give you my money today and I change my mind it should be refunded the same day or maybe the next day but not two to three weeks later. After all this is a prepaid account which is real time transaction processes. To date I still haven't received the funds. Last time I had to write $300.00 off as lost to the system. I've used just about every prepaid/secured card there is. I'm actually very responsible financially, and I do have a "real" bank account. Though, I mostly use these prepaid debit cards for shopping online for safety purposes (I load only what I plan on spending shopping). So far, Walmart MoneyCard is the worst of them. You can pretty much expect, with any prepaid cards, a service that is mediocre at best.. Walmart MoneyCard is absolute junk though. Hidden fees. Lots of them. Your direct deposit takes absolutely forever to post, if you ever use it for that (most bank direct deposits go through early or at least at midnight on payday. Not Walmart MoneyCard. They can take all day, even if your money was deposited early. They'll hold onto it until they feel like letting you have it).
When you get your first temporary card, it's almost totally useless. You can't use it to get cash back from the register, you can't use it at any ATMs. Meaning, if you need actual cash from your account, too bad. You'll have to wait until you get your permanent card in the mail weeks later (and no, they don't tell you this when you get the card). They freeze up people's accounts all the time for "terrorist prevention safety." Did you order something from eBay? You might be a terrorist as far as they're concerned. They're obsessed with terrorists and freezing accounts for any reason they want. Good luck getting your money back once they freeze the account. Oh, and if you ever should need to talk to customer service, you'd better speak fluent.. I don't even know where the call center is, but you won't be able to understand anything they say, and they won't understand you either.
Anyway I really could go on and on.. Mostly the Walmart MoneyCard is just a bunch of annoyances. NOT worth it. I suggest using any other prepaid card at all. Oh and also, it's not like it's a big deal, but the card itself looks totally embarrassing (if you get it, you'll see what I'm talking about.. hahaha).

I have used a Wal-Mart Money Card for years in order to pay bills or make purchases online. For the most part, I have been satisfied with the function of the card, but have recently encountered an area where the card and the "customer support" behind it has fallen painfully short. My wife is from England. When she came stateside, I got her a Money Card to use for her purchases. She has a bank account back home, and she wanted to use the account and routing information provided on the Money Card website to do a bank transfer and put some cash on her card. She called her bank (Lloyd's) and took care of the transfer from there. The money left her account as well as her bank's fees. The transaction was supposed to take 1-3 business days, and after about a week without seeing the funds on the Money Card, we began to worry.
I called the customer service line twice. Both times, the person I spoke to had such a heavy accent that I could not understand them, and they often misunderstood my questions. Both times, I was told to contact the bank where the money had come from (something called "punting" which is a way to get off of a call when the employee has no answers). Also, both employees told me that the method we used was correct, that these type of transactions happen all of the time without incident, and that the card itself worked like an automated receiver. Well, today we called her bank again who looked at the status of the transaction. It turns out that whatever entity manages the Money Card had rejected the transfer (God knows why) and is in the process of sending it back to the original account after taking $30 of it for a fee (for God knows what).
We have no idea why it was rejected. We were never able to get a customer service rep who could tell us one useful thing or didn't outright misinform us. We have not been told why they took $30 of the money or what we could have done wrong in the whole process. There is no information available online for international bank transfers, not even in the FAQs. We can't have been the only ones who have done this sort of thing, so the lack of information simply reflects a lack of care on their part. Total incompetence. Hope this helps.

I just got paid Friday and deposited most of my check on my Walmart money card. Bought a few groceries with the card, went home and paid my Sprint bill. All was well. The next day on the way to the park, I stopped at the Walmart neighborhood market to pick up some things for the grill. At check out my card was declined. Those Walmart registers don't always work so I just paid cash and was on my way. Once we were at the park and all set up sitting back and relaxing, I thought I would check my account on my phone. After signing in, I saw a balance of zero. I thought what the hell? I checked my transactions and saw the swipe reload, groceries, Sprint and three charges from Target. A 400+ a 300+ and a 100+ adding up to $900.
I immediately called the # on the card and was told if the charges don't post in seven days, they would refund my money. And if they do post, call them right away and they will start an investigation. They said maybe Target will notice the charges are a mistake. A mistake? I don't understand why they can't stop a pending unauthorized transaction. After reading all these stories about purchases at Target in New York, you know damn well that they know that this is an ongoing problem, yet they act surprised. Once they saw those New York charges and saw that that same day I was making charges in California, they should have stepped up and said we know this is a problem and we will get it resolved. I was a Walmart MasterCard customer (until recently). Almost 45 days back, I made a cash payment towards my MasterCard at one of their branch locations. I checked my online account a few days later and it showed "payment received - Thank you" - $250, a week or so later when I checked my online account again, it showed me "Payment reversal - $250". I called customer service and he had no clue to why this happened. He said he will let the supervisor know and ask him to call me with the answer, after noting all my contact information. A few days went by, I still didn't receive any calls from Walmart. Hence I called them back to check, and this time a lady tells me, "If you want to solve your problem, you have to go back to the branch, because it's their problem." I was really frustrated with this answer and their attitude. Now this becomes my problem, not theirs anymore...
Anyways, I drove back to that store which is about 1-hr drive from home, and I met the customer support manager who laughed and said, "How can this be our problem?" She called the customer service number and we had a discussion for a few minutes after which I was asked to fax the receipt to their office. I faxed the receipt to them on the number provided and also attached a strong letter explaining the situation. After about a week, I called back to check, and I was told that they are still waiting for the fax. I was beginning to lose my patience at this time. I asked to speak to the manager, but I was transferred to the supervisor instead. I had a heated conversation with her and I asked to even cancel my credit card. I didn't want anything to do with Walmart ever again. This is like cheating your customers. I re-faxed the receipt and called them to confirm. They received the receipt this time. Someone must have thrown the fax in the garbage last time, as I have the faxed transmission report and receipts which said fax sent - okay.
It's been over 45 days now. I have not received even one call from them, nor the issue has been resolved. I have even received financial charges for the amount I have already paid them. I tried calling them again to check and I get answers like, "We don't know"... I checked with a few friends and they agreed that this might be a common process of cheating people. They too pay cash, but have never checked their accounts. They just keep paying and the amount doesn't seem to reduce.

It's very frustrating trying to get anywhere with these stupid people who steal your money. Now it's been over a month and a week and I still have not received any card or anything! I continue to call everyday and they say my only options are to wait for the card that they keep saying they guarantee will be there in a certain amount of days which never shows up. This is the worst customer service ever. Please save yourself the stress and just get your check checked or deal with your money yourself. I have just started direct deposit from my job, which was good, that way I didn't have to put money on my card to pay my bills until 08/17/13 when I tried to get money at an ATM and it was declined. I didn't think nothing about it I just thought the machine was down. Until my daughter had gotten a MoneyPak card to send me some money, when I called to load it a lady came on the phone and told me my card had been blocked on Friday, and that I couldn't load the MoneyPak nor could I take my money off, and to call them back on the 28th.
I tried to tell her that I needed my money before the 28th. She also said that I couldn't never activate another card in the future, it seems to me they didn't care how they inconvenience their customers. I hate I ever heard of Walmart Money Card, so now I can’t finish paying my bills or get food for myself and my sick husband. The only money I have or had my daughter had to Money Gram me 25.00 which will not last me until the 28th. I want get paid until 2 more weeks and I have to find another way to get my check direct deposit. The lady I talk to couldn't or wouldn't give me any information other than I used my card too much. I didn't know I had a limit amount of times to use it, I thought that as long as I had money on it I could use it.

I have had the card for about a year and a half, maybe longer, it was recommended to me by Walmart money center in order to save money b/c my ex-husband was sending me money to help raise our children due to the fact that we live in different states. I received two reloads a week, on the same days for the same amount and used the card mainly at Walmart for groceries and gas and sometimes took cash off to pay a bill or would pay it online. My card was due to expire at the end of this month and woke up this morning to find my card was being declined, when I called to inquire I was told that a security block had been put on my card, and not only would I no longer be able to use it, I have been flagged and will no longer be able to use ANY GREEN DOT CARD PERIOD FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!
I asked what suspicious activity. I didn't realize buying groceries was a crime! After numerous phone calls and being bounced around like a basketball, I was finally told that it was due to excessive reloads! I said I have made the same two reloads on the same days, for the same amount for the entire time I had the card but that didn't matter. They did this without any proof of any illegal activity and have literally turned my life upside down and apparently trying to change my SSN will be the only way to fix this problem and I am now in a huge bind. I do believe that they did this because they were not making money off of me b/c I kept a high enough amount on card to avoid them. I have no idea what to do and would appreciate any advice, thank you in advance.

I've had a MoneyCard for at least 4 years. I have been consistently swindled and outright lied to about this card and today is the final time. I typically use this card to take care of bills (at least the ones that qualify) or to make online purchases. I had a pressing $300 payment which needed to be made. I left my house at 4am to upload my MoneyCard at a Walmart store. Gladly they took my funds. When I returned home I immediately went online to make my payment.
At this point I realized that my MoneyCard had expired 07/2013, about two weeks ago. I never received a card or notice and I rarely use the card enough to be conscious of the expiration date. I called the customer help desk to inform them that my card had expired, I wasn't given notice or a new card, and that I had a pressing payment due. After being told that they could not provide me with any information to allow me to complete my payment, I was informed that it would take 7-10 days to obtain a card or 3-5 days with a $20 dollar charge.
My first problem with this is that it clearly states on the money card policy and procedures that "Once your Card has expired for ANY reason, it cannot be renewed or reloaded." Apparently that is not the case because I was able to place money on the card without hesitation and because the company didn't follow their own stated policy and procedure I am out of $300 for 7-10 days. Not to mention that I have a pressing payment to make. When I asked what could be done, I was told nothing. I went back to the store to ask for a refund and told them the whole situation and was told deposits are non-refundable. So apparently policies and procedures are flexible when it comes to taking my money but are strictly followed when it comes to giving me my money.
I went back home and called "customer service" again, this time I asked to speak to a supervisor. After waiting for 8 minutes I was told that no supervisor was available and the wait time was 3 minutes or they could call me back, this was at 8am. 3 hours later I decided to call back. Again, I explained the situation and told the specialist that I desperately needed access to those funds now and I shouldn't be punished for them not following their stated policy. I was given the same runaround and I was forwarded to a Supervisor, of course nobody was available. She asked me if I wanted a call back, I said yes, gave her my number, and then was told that my call back would be within 24 hours.
This is just one of my many ordeals with Walmart MoneyCard over the last several years. They should make clear the many limitations and excessive fees on the card, have an ability to adjudicate customer complaints, or stop providing the predatory service all together. The ability to access your hard earned funds should be just as easy as it is to deposit them. Once I receive my money and pay Walmart their ridiculous fees, I will close this account and will never use a Walmart service or shop their retail ever again. If they don't value my time or money, why should I support them? I'd rather take the risk of someone taking my identity than to consistently face these issues each time I need to use this card. The consumer has no recourse and the staff has no desire or ability to address your concerns.
I want to let everyone know, that regardless of your credit score or whatever, you can still get access to a bank account in most instances. You don't have to use these prepaid card schemes for direct deposit. I only recommended them for security in regards to identity theft, but at this point and according to all these other complaints, they aren't even good for that. Walmart takes your money when you deposit funds and then charges you each month to park your funds there. They offer no benefits, no protection, no interest, does not reflect on your credit score, has many limitations, has poor customer service, and often results in more headaches than not. So what are we paying for?
These guys are the debit card version of a payday lender but worse; they're lending you your own money at high fees with all of the dysfunction I stated above. They have no obligation, or at least no interest, in taking the time to address your complaints or concerns, even when they're in the wrong. Because they know the consumer has no recourse.

I don't even have good benefits with this junk card. I have to go to Walmart just to withdraw money, pathetic! She said I have benefits. What benefits?! Then she said, "What else do you need Mr. **?" with a lazy tone. Garbage service. I'm leaving this crap once I get my money out.

DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!! I have had soooo many problems with these people, it’s not even funny. Latest quagmire: One of their employees reported my card lost/stolen in error and they cancelled my card. I called to have the problem fixed and they tell me it’s nothing they can do. They have already mailed a new card out. I have to wait 2 weeks in order to get it in the mail and access my funds. This happened one day after my paycheck was direct deposited on the card. I told them I need to buy groceries to feed my children, and I need to put gas in my car to get to work, so I cannot wait 2 weeks. They say they cannot transfer the funds to a bank account, only another Wal-Mart card. They tell me the only thing they can do is if I buy another card, and deposit more money onto it so it can be activated, then they can transfer the funds.
I told them my money is on the card they cancelled, so I have no cash to buy another card. All I get is attitude from their employees. It has been over a week, and I haven’t received a new card. I have had to take my kids to a homeless shelter to eat dinner, and I have missed several days of work. I asked to speak to a supervisor, who said the same thing, so I asked to speak to another supervisor. The woman in the corporate office says, “I’ve told you what to do, if you have nothing else to say, I’m going to disconnect this call.” I asked to speak to her supervisor and she refused to transfer me. Their customer service dept. is horrible!!!! Save yourself the headache!!! I should not have to suffer for a mistake their employee made, but I am. I trusted them with my money and this is how they repay me!!!

I am preparing to do business with a monolith that has a history of charging for services not provided. No way was I going to give them my "real" credit card. So I shopped around and decided to get a Walmart MoneyCard, which I would fund with specific amounts, and thereby prohibit the monolith company from having direct access to either my bank account or credit cards. Guess what? When I went to activate the Walmart MoneyCard, I put in all my information, added the Code that was shown on the page and kept receiving an error message saying to try again. I then received a message telling me that I had to call to complete the transaction. I called. They told me that I could not have the card. AND that I could never have a card with their company. Ever. My credit score is over 800. And they treated me as though I were a criminal. These people are revolting. Do not get involved with them. P.S. Has anyone had a good experience with any other secured credit card? If so please post the name of that company. I am in need of a new card.

I was double charged on a transaction and when I called Walmart MoneyCard to dispute, they asked me to contact the processing company that made the mistake, so I did... The processing company acknowledged they double charged me and they reversed the charges back into my account. I called MoneyCard customer service and dispute department more than 11 times after that and they never released my money that was refunded back from the processing company. They asked me to provide proof, so I called the processing company and they faxed the refund letter to Walmart along with the case number, transaction number and trace number.
I called Walmart and they said the case has been closed and they can't refund the money, even after I supplied them with multiple proofs that the company had refunded the money back to me. I am $310 poorer and Walmart never cared and it looks like their support and customer service is outsourced somewhere because they all seem to have the same foreign accent. I lost $310 and no one at Walmart MoneyCard is willing to help. They even told me they cannot make any outside calls to investigate the matter. Stay away from this card; you will lose more than you gain.

Other numbers were only interested in activating the card and to speak to a real person, the card number was required. Did get to talk to a person and was able to get across that I bought the card by mistake, did not want to activate it and wanted a refund. With no difficulty, she told me what to do, asked for the card number (I hesitated to open the package, but it was necessary to get the number) and my mailing address. She said that I would get a check in the mail in 9-12 business days. I got basically the same story from an email request that I sent in from the web page. We will see if it arrives.

I entrusted this company with my money. Twice now, they have violated that trust by allowing someone to steal my money. The first time this happened, it was $75.00. Not a huge sum, but enough. I got the morning text message that I had $3.00 left. I looked at the transaction history and saw purchases from Dubai, Germany, and India. It was $10.00 here, $20.00 there. I called to report this identity theft. I was panicked because direct deposit was three days away, and my full check might have been at risk. I was assured once the charges cleared that I could call back to be compensated. That's all. I did so, to be told I would have to visit the website and print a form and fax it to them. I was starting to get agitated. I started jumping through hoops. The website is terrible - not at all user-friendly. I finally spoke to someone who was empowered to reverse the charges.
Three months later, I wake up to find it has happened again. This time, criminals have purchased $500.00 worth of motel rooms in the Dominican Republic. I called again and was given the same story. I asked for a supervisor, who told me she understood what it meant that my rent would go unpaid and my children would go hungry, and was I interested in taking a survey?
Suffice it to say, I will no longer do business with this company. They have tons of restrictions for me to access my money, yet any criminal with a computer has total access. I have never made an international purchase, and when I asked about protections, there is nothing the company will do. I am so mad at a company that refuses to help or protect its customers that I feel compelled to speak out. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.

I purchased a Walmart money card. They are supposed to be easy, convenient, and you control your spending. I went home and activated it, and was told that I would not be getting a permanent card. I was told that the information that I entered didn't match their National Database. I already had a money card with Walmart. It was about to expire, and they didn't send me out a new one. So I got this new card where I purchased my previous one.
Anyway, I was told to spend the money I had loaded onto the temporary card. They stated that was my only alternative. So that's fine. I used the temporary card to make a purchase, and about a week later, I called to check my balance. My call was turned over to a so-called customer specialist (a very rude person). I was told that this card was not activated with my name and address on it. It had a different name (a man's name). I was told when I had the person who the card belongs to call them back. At this point I was furious, because I WAS THE PERSON WHO REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED THE CARD. The woman on the phone asked for my card number again, and said that their systems still must be updating because now it shows my name as a person connected with the card. But the man that called in earlier about the card reported questionable activity with the card. Only I had access to my card, not any man. So the temporary card was put under investigation and a block placed on the card.
After asking to speak to someone who could help me resolve this matter, she began to tell me that she would go ahead and remove the block, but I would never be able to purchase a Walmart money card again. This is outrageous. Walmart should notice all the complaints and start looking into it. I would hope this company is not so big that they don't care if customers are being ripped-off by their money center. They really need to look into employee activity, here in America and other countries where employees have access to personal information, accounts, and Walmart's computer system. If they monitor their books and the drop-in customers purchasing these cards, then they will see some problems there. I hope this is done before it gets too out of hand.

For over a year, I always had trouble logging in to check my balance and always have to do it 4 or 5 times. I answered all the questions and still keep getting hassled. When my Bf would put money on it, it would take him up to an hour to do so. It shouldn't be this much problem to log in with the right info. Also it also seemed money would be missing. So I will be dropping them because I think I've put up with enough hassle with it. No one should have to go through that just to check their balance or have money added.
Also, the other thing I could never pay for my gas at the pump; it always said the card was declined. There are times I don't want to go in & prepay. It's not a good thing if you're traveling late at night & need gas. You cannot pay at the pump and people get screwed. I will never ever get 1 of their cards again. One last thing, you go to their ATM & they charge you for using their card. What a crock. I'm really dissatisfied with their card. Talk about greedy people.

I have been utterly confused when paying my Walmart credit card, and finally discovered that if you did not pay them within their set billing period, or paid them twice, trying to get ahead, they would not credit your account with a payment, only with a reduction of the balance. So, for example, I wanted to get ahead on my payments so that I could go away on a trip and not worry about it. Well, that was a mistake. I paid $150 in November after the due date by a few days in order to cover December, but they only credited my balance and refused to put the money towards the December payment.
Every other credit card I have would understand that was a December payment. But Walmart doesn't want to understand that, as they can charge a late fee if they simply refuse to credit the next month. I returned home to a thirty-day late notice and a late fee, which I protested and was able to have removed. But make no mistake; this is as much of a scam as a bank putting a check in before they put a deposit in so they can charge you a bounced check fee.
Walmart is either one of the largest or the largest corporation on this planet, and you cannot tell me that they could not conform to the norm if they wanted to. The fact is, they are simply trying to find another way to rip us off. And because I did not understand well enough what their magical and arbitrary period in which they would accept payments was, this happened to me again, when I tried to pay ahead in preparation for another trip. Honestly, this is patently ridiculous. I paid them $500 that time, expecting that it would cover a $75 payment, and they again simply credited my balance, but refused to apply the payment.
Then, to add insult to injury, they lowered my credit limit because their trumped up paperwork showed that I had two thirty-day late payments within a six-month period. Honestly, they took a satisfied customer and made her into an enemy who will tell anyone and everyone I deal with to avoid obtaining credit through Walmart. They certainly work hard to create their bad press.

Walmart Money Card has many security breaches. If you are robbed and have all your identity, thieves can easily get a new pin and steal your money. If you are left stranded as I was or aren't aware your information is missing, your pin can be changed and your account emptied because they fail to require identification for large merchandise purchases. They will not attempt to review the video of the illegal transaction and an obvious unauthorized use of the card. They just tell you the transactions were authorized. There are many better cards that make you answer security questions before issuing a new pin. I urge you to check their security before using them. You'll be at risk if you don't.

So I got my card in the mail and it's a permanent card with my name on it. I tried to activate it online and couldn't. I had to call the activation number. I did and they couldn't activate it and gave me another number to call (all of this was automated). After going around and around in their automated service and being disconnected over and over, out of frustration I punched a bunch of random numbers into the system and got a real person who told me that the card had a block on it. They transferred me to yet another department where the automated system said I had a 20-minute wait. That 20-minute wait lasted for a little over an hour!
When their administrator finally got on the phone with me, I was told that the card could not be activated and when I asked why, she said that the card had suspicious activity. I asked her what activity. The card had not been used or activated! She would not explain but said that not only would the card never be activated, but that I could never have a Wal-Mart money card! I obtained a Walmart credit card several years ago to take advantage of the interest-free purchases of large ticket items. Most items (phones, TVs, security cameras) were with 12 months no interest. I usually pay them off within 6 months. With almost every statement I received, I was charged interest and had to call Customer Service to have the interest removed. In 2012, my checkbook that also contained my Walmart credit card was stolen. I called and reported the theft but over $1,400 had been charged at the local store in Eden, NC. They have cameras but obviously cannot determine who used the card or why no identification was required.
I was contacted by the Fraud Department and advised to do nothing until they had investigated. The next month, a Walmart representative contacted me about my past due balance. The balance before the card was stolen was approximately $160. She advised that $98 was past due. I explained that even though my minimum payment was only $25 and it had not been 4 months since the last payment and the instructions from the Fraud Department was not to do anything but to guard my credit, which she threatened, I made the payment.
I received a letter from the Fraud Department that all charges had been credited so I assumed all was okay. Then I received a statement, which I had not received for 6 months, that my balance was over $220. I called the credit department to inquire why. They advised that there were late charges and interest accrued. When I objected, the lady told me that if I did not pay today, she would turn this over to a collection agency. I asked for the number of someone else to protest this, but they gave the same 800 number with automated voice that won't let you speak to a person. I finally sent an email to customer service which responded with the same 800 number. I responded that the number was no good.
I finally spoke with a person who was as helpful as the first lady. Her name was Tracey. She removed one late charge but told me that if I did not set up a payment plan, I would go to collections. I told her I would pay the balance and to please close my account. I feel I was abused and will never use the company again. They will drive people back to Kmart.

Then the following weekend, I received some strange phone calls and found out my identity had been compromised. I later found out from local law enforcement that my case sounded similar to other cases in our area. I then remembered the mailer from Wal-Mart and dug it back out of the trash to discover that it wasn't a promo, but was indeed a Money Card. I immediately contacted Wal-Mart using their customer service number of 866-871-2415 to inform them that I had not signed up for a card and to get some answers as to what was going on. I tried on four separate occasions, three times on a Saturday from 3pm - 8pm and again on the following Tuesday around 3pm.
Every time I spoke to a CSR who could not tell me anything (plus one occasion when I went all the way through the automated responses and then the recording told me to call back at the same number and then hung up on me) but transferred my call to another dept. where I was subjected to a recorded loop guitar music punctuated by a guy's voice saying, "Your estimated wait time is 20 minutes. We apologize for the delay. Your call is important to us. Please hold for the next available specialist." This loop continued to repeat ad nauseam until I couldn't take it anymore. I gave up after over 30 minutes each time.
The so-called 20-minute wait never counted down. I also just tried to contact them via email, so we'll see if that produces any fruit. I figure they will have some inane scripted email response and I still won't get any help. I never applied for their card and this is critical that I find out what is going on. What can I possibly do? I have put fraud alerts on my credit but otherwise, Wal-Mart is being completely irresponsible. My mother (a senior citizen) got one of these cards because it's easier than carrying cash for small purchases. She has a family card so she can transfer money to her (senior citizen) brother . She was at a store yesterday and the card was rejected. Embarrassed, she left the store and went home to check her balance. She had plenty of money on the card, so she called Customer Service. They explained to her that she had reloaded the card incorrectly and the card was blocked. Since she always reloads her card at Walmart with cash, she assumed they would rectify the mistake and give her access to her funds. Instead, they told her that she would be blocked from reloading her card and that she would not be eligible to ever purchase/use a Walmart!
So I called the Customer help line on her behalf today. After being placed on hold for 33 minutes, I finally got to speak to a supervisor who informed me that GE Capital has the right to block any card without prior notice and for any reason. All transaction processes are at the company's discretion. So after 49 minutes, they explained that they unblocked my mom's card and she can try to use it, but they wouldn't guarantee that her next transaction would not be denied at the register. The best solution turned out to be going to her local Walmart and getting a cash refund for the amount on the card. I purchased a Walmart Moneycard with $500 loading limit, proceeded to purchase some parts online, good to go. I bought a laptop from Walmart. The girlfriend didn't like it, so we returned it within the grace period. There were no problems returning. Walmart credited the purchase amount to my Moneycard, where it has sat for a week pending, and no sign in sight to get it back. First off, the customer service is in the Dominican Republic. I talked to a whole slew of them, who all literally laughed at me telling me to do all sorts of things (fax them original receipts of my purchase; okay, done. Nope. Now, we need the return receipt, manager's name, buy and activation date, your receipt from the online purchase, your favorite time of day to take a crap, and a partridge in a pear tree...). I still do not have my credit. They told me that if I did not send them everything (like I keep receipts of stuff I don't even have anymore, c'mon?!), then they can keep my money indefinitely. Just, simply, beware. I am out $700 and I am speaking with my lawyer to settle this in court, or begin a class action. This has to stop.

I have applied for a prepaid Visa card three times. The last time, I actually spoke with a supervisor who assured me that she would personally take care of it and that I would have the card on February the 3rd, 2013; she gave me her word. The day is February 10, 2013 and as of today, I still don't have the card and I am unable to speak to anyone in regards to where the card is. I don't know if there are three cards floating around with my name on it or not! Why can't you speak to a live person? Why isn't there a line to call in regards to not receiving the cards? Are they truly that incompetent? This is a multibillion dollar company. Isn't someone overseeing this mess?

We received this Wal-mart Money Card as a gift and cannot believe what a hassle it has become. We had to activate the card. We tried to do this online but did not feel comfortable putting our social security number and other personal information. Next, we tried to activate it by calling the customer service number. We were put into an automated system that asked for the same information. It took several attempts to get a live person. Again, we were asked for this info. After telling them I was not going to provide them the information, she said she would not activate it. When I asked for a supervisor, she said she would just credit it with no option to reload. This is how the gift was intended. Incredible hassle for $50! It makes me wonder how much money they have stolen through this process knowing how difficult they were making it for customers. Shame on you Wal-mart!

I logged into my account to see what I owed as I received no bills from Wal-mart/GE Money Bank. This has also happened with my Lowes card, which was also held by GE money bank, and it was corrected after multiple phone calls. But I will not go through that again. They do not send out bills and then try to ruin people’s credit with this late fee crap. I have had enough. Something needs to be done to stop this type of issue with this company.

I had a Walmart Money Card that expires August of 2013. This was my second Money Card, and I hadn't had any issues. I went to load money on it, and they told me that I had to purchase another one, even though the expiration date was good. I thought it was simply a mistake, and so I complied. I bought another card, loaded it, and waited for my permanent card. That was two weeks ago. No card. So, I called customer service, and they told me that they cannot send me my permanent card, because they had "lost" my information, and that I needed to go and buy yet another card! I cannot believe this! They have my money, and now I am having to fight for it. Never again will I trust these people!

My husband received this as a gift, and I can assure you it was no gift. It was confused for a gift card by my in-laws. However, you have to register it as a credit card - they will want all your information, including Social Security number. There is pretty much no way around it, I'm coming to find out. I was given instructions to get it non-personalized and followed them step by step with still luck. I cringe at calling the customer service. You would think they would make it an easy option to get it non-personalized because of this confusion with maybe aging parents or them sitting right next to the gift cards. But no luck. It looks like we have $100 that if only I would give my Social Security number out, I could have. I will probably break down and do it but ugh!

Well, Wal-Mart offered a $1,000 gift card. I went through all the steps and bought two items I didn't need to get this card. I have complained four times so far with no reply. I'm considering consulting a lawyer over this matter. Wal-Mart has posted a fraudulent ad. They never intended on giving out these gift cards and I'm sure they got a little something from the sales that people made. I am sure there will be no reply. I needed this card for Christmas and I am in the poor house as a result of being ignored.

My son gave me a Wal-Mart MoneyCard for my birthday thinking, I guess, that it's a gift card type of thing. I tried to register it and found out they wanted my SSN which I was wary to give for a gift card. So I tried to get a refund. But since I don't have the receipt with the return number, I can't go through the automated system and you can't access an operator. The system tells you, paraphrased, "We understand you want to speak to an operator, but we need some additional info" and then proceeds back to the registration where they want your SSN.
I sent them an email detailing my plight and got a reply telling me to go through the activation hotline to speak to an operator. I tried that again but evidently, the email support team doesn't know you can't get to a live person. (How would you like to be an operator dealing with all of these mad customers? Bet they have crazy turnover!) I sent them another email and they replied to go to the website and choose "Close card" but that's not an option on the website. I sent them another email and someone called me to tell me I could use it as a debit card. That was frustrating because why didn't someone tell me that before? Well, no one told me that before because it's a lie. You still have to register it to use it as a debit! Surely this person knew that and simply lied to me. Why would a company lie to its customers?
Bottom line is they still have my money and when I do get a refund, they want to charge me $3 to send it. What a scam. What government regulatory agency is in charge of overseeing this charade?

This is the second year in a row we purchased American Express and Visa gift cards for Christmas from Walmart. Both times when trying to activate the cards, we were told the cards have a zero balance. The gift cards were purchased with a Walmart credit card. Charges are already on our statement but cards are still zero balance. According to AmEx, they have not been paid by Walmart so they will not load the cards. This very embarrassing when your family tries to use the cards and they are declined. It's becoming more and more common for companies such as Walmart to dominate the market at which time they seem to be untouchable. Something needs to be done. I am only one person. However, if this is happening to me, I can guarantee it is happening to thousands of others.

I opened a Wal-Mart credit card about two years ago. I was happy with the card. I understood perfectly the entire contract associated with this card. About a year after having the card and paying online, I saw another card listed on my account. At first I did not realize that it was my old credit card that was dismissed in my bankruptcy five years earlier. I was upset and called the credit card customer service. I asked, “What was the point of putting this old card on my account?” I was told that was their option to do this and it was their way of keeping track of my history with Wal-Mart. I immediately closed my account and will never open another one. This is totally uncalled for, and there was no purpose of bringing up that old account other than to remind me of my past credit history!

I am a Walmart store loyal customer (two or more times a week shopping there). But I have been tortured so bad by Walmart Money Card (reloadable) Customer Services for using their card for about two weeks. They got my nerve broken.
It takes 12 days and 5 phone calls to Customer Service to refund my money back to my card. After my order was cancelled by Walmart.com, I called Walmart Money Card Customer Service a total of 5 times, talked with 6 operators at different days. Three operators told me, "It takes three days to refund the money back" (First two operators with bad attitude when I asked why, their answers were, "don't know," and when I requested talking with their manager, they responded by hanging up the phone so I made three calls that same day). The fourth one told me, "Money would be refunded after one week." The last two persons said, "Money would be back to the card on day eleven." Finally the money was back on my card on day twelve. I am confused.
First, I believe I am not only & first one who had this problem. Who can tell me how many people and how much money they are holding from us everyday (how much interest are they making)? Second, is the Walmart card company not making a clear policy or had representatives been trained that they should carry bad attitude at work?
Next, there is a different price in reloading fee. I tried reloading $1000 to my card at Walmart store. The teller asked me to pay $3.74 reloading fee first (on the wall in the store and Walmart Money Card website, it was $3.00). So, I walked away from the teller (she was a manager), made a call to Customer Service and got the answer, "$3.00 reloading fee anywhere any amount anytime." Okay, I got back to the same teller. She told me I can't reload any amount money to my temporary card before receiving the original card with my name on that. This is not only confusing now. I asked myself, "Why would I waste my money and my time coming here to let them ** me off? Am I sick or do I have mental problem?"
My card has been blocked two times in three days after I received the original card and charged $3.00 services fee by Walmart card company. When I called, they told me on the phone that they will close my account on 10/17/2012 - one week later from now but till now I never received any email from Walmart Money Card to confirm this info. The reason? I had used this card, paid my ads fee on the public website. The person removed the block for me today said to me, "I suggest you don't use this card to pay your ads anymore; otherwise, we will block your card again before closing your account."
What did I do wrong that they insult me like this? "Use it everywhere MasterCard Debit or Visa Debit is accepted." - that's the ad on Walmart Money Card (reloadable prepaid card) webpage. Now I have loaded my own money on the card, but I have to spend it where they allow me to do so. Is here still American land or does it belong to Nazis now? Please, somebody tell me.

Payment due goes up once you have a late fee (rip-off), not to mention 22.90% interest. Warning to anyone in line at Wal-Mart, do not take the credit card they offer you while in line to pay. They can see that I only have one card and that at the time the charges were made, I was also making purchases on my card in Kansas. I can't be two places at once. Later on, same day, I used it again and it's declined. Why? I have nearly $200 on it! I called to find out they declined it because I used it. This doesn't make sense to me. After spending a fair amount of time with the agent, it was explained to me that although it's not written anywhere the public can read, they can and will cancel your card if they choose to because you used it. Now I want the money back that's mine. I'm told that I'm out the $5 for the useless card and it will take over one week to get my own money back. They can FedEx it at my $20 expense. What a scam! Walmart Discover Card (866-611-1148) Supervisor Customer No Service, Rhonda, placed a hold on our credit card whenever two or more of my family use it. They declined $8 burger. They would not make me primary, will not allow a pass code, will not allow me to talk with Customer Retention, Billing, etc. when I needed to have it authorized to check into hotel and my wife was out of cell range. They would not allow me to cancel the card either. They deactivated my online account. I have had a horrible experience with Wal-Mart Money Card that the public needs to know about. I am blogging about it and you should do something about it. Most of it goes: Warning! If you never want to see your paycheck money, put it on a Wal-Mart Money card or Lord forbid on direct deposit. Your will never see any of your paycheck money in cash ever again! I had a Wal-Mart Money Card for a couple of years and used it sporadically and it worked okay. Recently when my bank started charging a lot of fees and held my auto deposits over the weekend, I started my direct deposit going on the Wal-Mart Money Card. Suddenly there are two unknown online charges on my card, the robot-like Asian customer service people could not answer my questions because it was not on their script. They could not tell me where the charges came from and they would not forward me to an American supervisor and refused to send me to the survey they offer at the end of the call and then disconnected my call. They said they could not tell me who made the first charge and could not block it (it was still pending).
I purchased another card to move my paycheck money into until I could get my direct deposit stopped. I paid $3 to open it. I received the permanent card yesterday and I received another monthly fee when I have only had the card 10 days. I called to dispute that and they did remove that second fee. However, they get you coming and going on fees unless it is an automatic deposit and then that is when your nightmare begins! Your paycheck is automatically deposited and you expect to get some cash, right? Dream on! They have policies that restrict you from getting any of your hard-earned money in cash! These people running the Wal-Mart Money Card show that now have your cash are non-American, probably Chinese because customer support is somewhere in Asia and they are using our funds to support them, because they certainly are not letting US have our money after we have made our deposit.
In order to use the money I had on my one compromised card, I had to make an online purchase (even though the unauthorized charge was from an online purchase). I did that and had the card closed. However, when the second unauthorized purchase credited me back (after I called them and said it was unauthorized), I can’t get that money and Wal-Mart Money Card refuses to transfer it to my new card I bought because of the unauthorized charges. They said they had to send me a check for the balance checks in the mail. Yeah right, we will see if that happens. After I had my auto-deposit transferred to my replacement card, I went to get a money order for my house payment and some cash. Customer service said they could do the money order but I could not access my payroll deposit and get cash, as it is against their policy.
After all this, my direct deposit finally ended and I had a balance of $24.25 on my card. I wanted nothing more than to clear that balance and close that card. Guess what? I could not! I went to Wal-Mart, tried to make a purchase of $44, and tried to use the $24.25 balance against that as a debit and it would not take it, denied. I tried to use it as a credit and it wouldn’t take it, denied. I went to customer service to see if they could make it happen, they could not, denied, even though the available balance said $24.25. They could not give me cash back, denied. They couldn’t run it as a debit or a credit even though they clearly had printed notice that I had $24.25 available.
I called the Asian customer service from their phone in customer service and was told by the non-American I had a temporary card, as it said on their script (which I did not, they obviously did not know what I was talking about. They are Chinese after all). I asked for an American supervisor and put on hold for 15 minutes until they hung up. I wanted to call back but the Wal-Mart customer service desk said they could not tie up their only phone line with my calls to the Wal-Mart Money Cards customer service and stated they have no control over any of that because they are not affiliated with them in any way, had nothing to do with the Wal-Mart Money Card people and made many apologies to that effect.
The only way I was able to spend the $24.25 of my last payroll deposit was to pay it online against a utility bill, which I did and so far, they have not denied it. I don’t know anyone that needs that much hassle to get access to their paycheck! Wal-Mart is using the American public’s direct deposits to subsidize whatever support they are giving to China. Your deposit on a Wal-Mart Money Card is going to foreigners to use to collect the interest and make investments from with our hard-earned money overseas! Wal-Mart is un-American for allowing that to happen! They don’t even support their widely advertised money cards and direct deposits. Their customer service people, when pushed, say they have nothing to do with the Wal-Mart Money Cards. Your deposits are going directly into who-know-whose bank and you will never see them again. Plus, the cards don’t work everywhere. Try buying gas at midnight at Maverick. It’s not going to happen with this Wal-Mart Money Card. It’s a pain and could be life threatening in the dead of a Wyoming winter night with no gas to get you home!
All Americans beware of Wal-Mart money cards. Wal-Mart is undermining the financial stability of America with these actions and should be stopped. This coming from a 12-year Wal-Mart supporter (when you move from the city to rural Wyoming, driving 60 miles to Wal-Mart is the only place you can get groceries, home improvement, auto supplies and kids clothes all at once).

When I called to get my balance on the fifth of July, my balance was now 639 dollars after I paid 52 dollars last month. So I called customer service and they told me that because I paid my bill early, I was charged with a late fee. What kind of business penalizes a customer for paying their bill early? I have made a complaint to the BBB and would like an answer as to why you are charging late fees for people who pay their bills early. I am disabled and on a very limited income and cannot afford a 35-dollar late fee for paying my bill early every month.

I have a Wal-Mart credit card, and the due date every month was on the 13th of every month. However, I was making the payment every month on the 16th through their online bill pay. For an entire year, I thought my bill was due by the 16th! So I paid a year of late fees, and every payment I made was shaved by $25+. I sent a complaint to the company, and they would not reverse the issue or allow me to talk to anyone who could help me. My issue is that most credit card companies have a grace period before applying a late fee. I could have paid off my card months ago, but it never happened because of the late fees being tagged on every month to my payment!

I was enrolled in their credit card payment protection program and when I became disabled, the payment protection did not pay off my credit card debt. Due to this, I was forced to file for bankruptcy and now, my credit is ruined. It is not fair. I paid for this payment protection and they never did anything to help me when I became disabled. They should do something like compensate a customer by fixing their credit or for causing a customer financial loss. It is not fair that they can get away with this.

On 5-25-2012, I loaded $1000 on my Walmart card. And yesterday, I checked the card and some of the transactions were off. Today, I checked my balance online and it showed I had -$65.00 & -$69.00. First of all, how can you have a negative balance from a debit card? If the funds are not there, the card will decline. I called Walmart customer service and that representative was very nice. She said that she will submit this to another department because the charges are all for the same day at the location 2 and 3 times. It looks like credit card abuse! So, beware customers, about adding money to the Walmart cards! Keep your receipt that shows your balance! They are stealing money out of accounts! I have been a long time Walmart MoneyCard customer, and if this is not taken care of correctly, I will have to end the relationship.
