On Feb 1 2015 I purchased a Green Dot Walmart MoneyPak refill for 90.00. I went home to apply this to my account online. When I put the pin number of the back of the card, the website said it was invalid. I waited 2 hours thinking it might take some more time but still got the same message invalid.

I called the number on the back of the card to speak with someone about fixing this. I spoke to customer service, of course a foreigner I couldn't understand, and was given a list of things they needed in order to refund the money. First they needed a pic of the receipt. Emailed to them at verrifymydocs@greendot.com. Along with that they needed the place where it was purchased, store number, store phone number, exact time and date of purchase. I provided all of these things. I have been told they have not received any of my documents on a daily basis cause I call daily. I resend them on a daily basis with them on the phone. They say I’m all set and the funds will be there in 24 hrs. But 24 hrs later I got nothing. So I repeat the process over again it is now the 13 of Feb and I still don't have it and will call again tomorrow.

I activated my card on Thurs 02/05. On 02/06/2015 I received a charge of $53 from Redbox. I called customer serv. They said call Redbox. I called Redbox who stated the charge was for a swipe at a machine in OREGON (over 3000 miles away) on Jan 14th for movies never returned. Not possible...not in Oregon and card wasn't active until 02/05. They said I would have to get my bank to reverse the charge. Called Wal-Mart money card cust serv...who insists they can't do anything bc the charge was still pending. The guy said he could clearly see there was no swipe in Jan so call back after it posts and they will reverse it back to the merchant.

I called today...call was answered by someone who barely spoke English. She was located in the Philippines. She claimed she could do nothing but cancel the card and sent me another for $3. I told her the card I has did not need to be canceled, that I needed the charge to Redbox sent back to them. She literally argued with me. I asked for a supervisor. She said she was the supervisor. I asked her to transfer me to someone in the States. She refused. So basically, without notice - Wal-Mart MoneyCard has outsourced the management of my money to the Philippines. I am not happy with this. I refuse to do business with walmart or green dot and I highly recommend no one else do this either. They lose your money and refuse to get it back for you. I am interested in filing a lawsuit bc this company has compromised my personal information by allowing access to it by people in other countries without notifying me.

Green Dot bank put a block on the account for no reason. I was instructed to go to Social Security which I did. I was then informed by SS that Green Dot bank never sent SS any payments back to them. Green Dot has placed the block. SS said the Green Dot has no business keeping the funds. They belong to the ** family. I did my taxes and had them loaded to my Wal-Mart debit card. Well when I realized I couldn't find it, I called it in and got a replacement card said it would couple weeks. I really didn't worry cuz I still was waiting on taxes to load. But then when I never received it by the date they gave me. I called and I called... Well it was gonna take another 2 weeks before I get a new one.

Meantime I'm broke, need to pay rent, got overdraft in my bank now, all kinds of stuff and there is nothing they can do to expedite this situation. Not happy, I'm pissed! And then finally I spoke to someone who said they can FedEx it to me. 3 to 5 days and it costs 15 bucks. Fine do it. Then on Monday I called just to check on it hoping I can get a tracking #. To find out it never got sent... Gerrr! Now I'm like there has to be something they can do to get it to me faster... But NO! Nuttn. Still gotta wait... What? Make no sense, how they keep messing with my money!! Never again that card is going to the garbage!! Dumb people! Dumb Card!!

On Feb 4, 2015 I had my tax return direct deposit to my account to find early that morning that my account was block because of suspicious activity which I don't know what they're talking about. I was able to buy a money order and buy something at Wal-Mart too. The money order was from Wal-Mart and withdrew 100 and my account was lock. I'm more than pissed off. They want me to fax my id or dl to make sure the money that's in that account is me. My dl is expired that's my only form of identification I have. I'm a single mom of 5. I can not afford one.

I have been calling for more than a week and I get no response or why they block my account. I told them if my card was stolen I would of called them immediately and made a police report. They are trying to keep our money. My lights are getting disconnected. My rent is past due. My grandson's insulin went bad. What do I do? I'm lost I don't know what to do. Wal-Mart is rip off and we need to get together somehow and sue them for our losses and damages they're causing us. Please for some odd reason no one can reply on comments or other's review. Somehow a .com website charged my card of almost 30 dollars over 3 months or so at .25 and 1.25 mics. Still trying to straighten out results. Why can't there be a security alert to notify card user to see if card was stolen or being used by the owner himself instead of draining the prepaid account which I thought was safe. Now I have to suffer the consequences and try to figure it out. How is it that simple? More than 2 times this has happened using the money card.

I did, I sent three faxes and even emailed them. Just to be told they did not get them. I have made reports to the Better Business Bureau and even trying to get my local news agency involved. I have been behind on all of my bills and was desperately waiting for the money to be deposited to my card. I finally received it on January 30th and because the deposit was so "high" it was considered suspicious activity and my card was placed on a hold. I sent them a copy of my ID and Social Security card as requested by the agent on the phone. I was on the phone with her until she confirmed that she received my documents and it's now February 6th and my card is still on hold! I've spoken to 3 different reps and no one can help. They just keep saying that they have 10 business days to process my documents! I can tell that they are from an Asian Country and it makes me angry because the reason "no one can help me" is because they aren't even in the country. Walmart employs them for cheap labor.

After I made some payments on bills, and a few purchases they decided on their own i had spent too much money. They put a security block on my card and canceled it as a lost or stolen card. No one ever contacted me in any way to tell me they were doing this. I am a single mom of 3 and had budgeted very carefully. Now i have an eviction notice because i can't touch my own money till the new card arrives (if it does based on what i have read).

Here is the point of my post: While I am in total agreement with reporting our issues on these forums, I want to encourage all of you to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. It can be done online and only takes a few minutes. Also...I see a lot of people have had the same issue as me, with not being able to contact anyone other than the useless customer service number on the back of the card. So i want to share some info I received...HERE IS THE NUMBER TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE...8666524611 ext. 4368.

Ok so I fell for the spiel that Walmart gave me about it being easy and painless to direct deposit your tax return on their card, I could not have been more wrong. Sure the money made it, sure they have been charging me fees associated with the account but can I spend a single cent!??!! Nope because they immediately put a block on my card saying that there were issues with the direct deposit and I would have to send them a copy of my driver's license and social security card.

And then after ten days I can give them a call and maybe if they feel like it the block will be removed, but no promises. I asked them to cancel the direct deposit, they will not. I asked if I can go into Walmart to confirm my identity? I cannot, so here I am two weeks later-- no money. They still have not finished the inspection, no real time frame to get it done and guess what, I get to pay them a monthly fee while they hold my money hostage. Do not use them for any reason. Get a Fred Meyers rewards visa-- much better and with real American customer service agents. When I get my money, if in fact I ever do, I suspect that they will withhold it for as long as possible. I'm contacting a lawyer in another week. So miserable with them right now, really really hate Walmart for this.

Except perhaps that Green Dot is trying to undermine the business. If it is, and I get a note from them also I will report both Walmart and Green Dot to the Better Business Bureau (not that that will do a lot of good). This is a terrible business practice! I was really trying to get away from banks and their charges only to find that these people are more ruthless. This is going to cause immense inconvenience to me and I'm sure others who get this. I bought this STUPID money card SEP '14 via "money pack," with a $5 fee, then $3 fee at Walmart to load. It was all done as a means to be able to receive funds from my folks, in another state. It was a nightmare frustration the day in Sep. I did all this, and the phone calls back and forth to sender, to the card customer service, then FOUR hours to wait for funds to be available. The confusion and variety of advisements from cashiers, and call center agents, was just futile and more than irksome.

I had no choice but to follow through, so I could pay for something by phone. When that was over and done, I tucked the card away, in case I EVER got in another jam, at least I would. Have buy another middleman money pack. Now it's Feb '15. I am needing to PAY $2.95 for a FREE online resume template (another bald-face lie on websites). So I thought I'd dig out this card and just load enough to make that possible. Called the customer service # on back to check the balance, in case I get lucky and discover I'd left a drib. But the irritating universal recorded-man voice said there was a NEGATIVE balance of $6! Whaaaat?! How could THAT be, since we KNOW darn well they didn’t let me SLIDE six bucks anywhere?

So got a live agent, OMG their need to RECAP EVERY phase of call and RESTATE. The six dollars was total amount of monthly fees that have accrued by not keeping card active. So, I roared laughing and asked the agent, somewhere in the Non-U.S. Ring of Fire, "If I NEVER use this card again, monthly fees keep accruing for ALL ETERNITY?" She said, "YES " I had to RELEASE THE CALL and, as a retired airline res agent, I LIVE to say, "RELEASE THE CALL" people. Just do MoneyGram or Western Union. It's comparable in fee cost, but BAM. One store visit, you're done.

I had no idea that activating the MoneyCard would require my social security number and birth date. I thought very sensitive and personal information that I choose not to disclose. This card is connected to a bank account from Green Dot. None of this information is displayed on the outside package, which would help customers made the best decision to purchase. I spoke with four different representatives, all providing different answers for activating card without providing social security number and/or birth date. I was originally told I could activate card for only temporary usage to deplete funds I placed on the card without submitting personal information.

Well, was transferred to automated system twice, which continued to ask for personal information. I called back and was instructed that I have to be transferred to automated but will only need to provide a pin for usage. Guess what? That didn't work neither. The automated system still required personal information. I was also told to try activating online and I would be able to bypass giving my social security and birth date. Well not true at all. Customer service wasted my time and was not educated on the product or company they work for. Please read all reviews on this product and please take heed to my complaint. I have a Wal-Mart Money Card and this year decided to have my tax check deposited onto it. Well, this morning I received my money. The amount was almost 6 grand. I made a $700 purchase at T-Mobile without any problems, but when I went to the bridal store to pick up my wedding dress for my Valentine's Day wedding, the card was declined. I immediately called the number on the card and was told that my card was blocked due to a suspicious deposit from the IRS. What? I didn't realize that the IRS was a "suspicious" company. Well, I went round and round on the phone with this so-called supervisor about releasing my funds, but got absolutely nowhere. A few minutes into the conversation and without any of my questions answered, she told me that she had more important calls to answer and then proceeded to hang up on me.

I called back and spoke to another so-called supervisor who advised that I do what the other lady instructed and send in proof of identity in the way of social security card, ID, birth certificate etc.... I asked her why I should have to do that and she said because that is the only way for me to get my money back. I asked her to reverse the funds back to the IRS and was told that in order for them to do that, the IRS would have to send them a notarized letter requesting such a reversal. I reluctantly sent in the information requested to the number they provided then called back to see if the information was received. This time I was told that there was no way for them to verify that my documents were received and I would just have to sit and wait to see what happens.

I am getting married in 2 weeks. That money was being used to finish paying for my wedding expenses and now from what I have read on here, that money will not be released. I called a few minutes ago and again was told that they could not provide me with any information about my proofs of ID, the status of my card or a release date of my money. The only information that was given to me was that if my documents proving identity were insufficient then the hold on my card would remain and EVENTUALLY the funds MAY BE returned to the IRS. I worked all year for that money and need to have it for my upcoming wedding in a couple of weeks. If anyone can help me PLEASE do so!!! I am a total wreck over what Green Dot has done to me and will not only be out my money from the IRS, but two thousand in deposits I made for the wedding. Again, I need help!!!

I asked at Walmat MoneyCard to speak to an supervisor. I was told that there was none and that their department is the only one; what crap!! I called several times and I then got an email from Green Dot stating my Green Dot Card will be in the mail in less than 2 weeks.

I never ordered a Green Dot and gave the rep the confirmation number, who told me that because of this card being sent my Walmart card is going to be closed and I am not able to get another MoneyCard ever again. I have already filed a police report, put a freeze on my credit report, deleted my email address that I had for over 15 years. This has been a nightmare.

On January 23, 2015 I call Walmart money card about a depict taken from my account. The associate could not speak good English. She started saying my card was compromise and shutting down the card. I beg the lady not to do this. I have no cash money. I need to get money off the card to feed my children and pay bills. She just will not listen. She said I will be getting a new card in two weeks. I told her "no, let me find out what happen first I will get back with them." She shut the card down anyway. She was very rude. I started crying.

What am going to do? How I am going to live for two weeks? No compassion. I ask her if she could transfer my money to another card. She said she cannot do that. I felt like I been robbed and that I have no control over my money. They are not working with me at all to try to resolve this problem that they created because I told her do not shut the card down. When I got off the phone I ask myself what just happen.

They can replay the video, call the store it was purchased, and hopefully review the card to see that 300 should still be on there. My rent is now unpaid and I'm having to loose my home, return my car because of moving expenses and now in debt with bad credit.

I lost my prepaid Green Dot/Walmart Mastercard on 01-10-14. I called and reported it lost and they shut the card down. They informed me a new card would be sent to my address within 7-10 days. I called on day 10 and asked if the card was sent and while verifying my information they informed me that the card was sent to the wrong address. They would not tell me what address they sent it to and they cancelled the replacement card and issued another card to the correct address (which is the address my original card was sent to!).

After calling them for 2 days and asking to speak to a Supervisor and either getting put back through the loop or ignored, I finally looked Green Dot Bank up and found their escalation number. I must have spoken to at least 7 or 8 customer service reps at the number provided on the back of my old card (that I found!) and every time I got a different answer and a different story. I even offered to provide them a Fed Ex number to send the card out right away. The only answer I could get was that my card was not eligible for that. WTF? Finally got FED UP with everything and called 801-344-7020 and the lady kindly put me through to the escalation department. It sucks eating bologna for dinner for 4 nights straight and trying to borrow anything from everyone in order to get this straightened out. I will now have my 18 day replacement card by Friday.

I made some purchases with my card at a local retailer and decided to return some items I no longer needed. So the credits back to my account and went to grab some food and told the card was declined. Called the customer service number to be told a block was placed on my card due to the transaction amounts did not match and because of that they put a hold on my funds. This is total BS. I done this in the past with no issues and now all the sudden they want me to email them all my receipts to them so they can verify the returns. This is a total scam by the way, think about it if green hold your funds just for a day, think about the amount of interest they can make on our money. I think this is a bait and switch and the US Attorney General needs to look into the FRAUD.

Think about this, you go to the store and buy some items and then you return only a couple of things and your amounts do not match your original purchase and you throw away the recipients then they get to keep your money. This is a scam and it's ok since it is being done to poor people so they don't have the means to fight this. I for one will never use this card again or ever go back to Walmart.

On December 31, 2014, I loaded $420.00 cash at a Walmart Money Center on this card for use on an upcoming vacation. Since I encountered no problems before, I thought everything was good but a nagging feeling told me to check the balance so I did so on January 2, 2015. I was advised that no notification of funds was received and that an investigation of one business day would have to occur. I was given a case number and asked to send a copy of my receipt along with my name and phone number which I did on January 3, 2015. I checked my balance via text message, Walmart Money Card website, and telephone but the response was $0.00.

I called again on January 7 and was told that the funds had been applied to my card. The balance was still reporting as $0.00 but according to the representative I spoke to, there had been no transactions. I called again on January 9, 2015 after checking by balance again via text and telephone. The balance still reported as $0.00. I spoke to another representative and was told that they needed more time to investigate. As of today, January 16, 2015, I am no longer able to log into the Walmart Money Card website, I am no longer able to get a response from the text message service, nor am I able to get anyone on the phone as my card appears to have been deactivated and reports as invalid. I am so frustrated right now and want my money back!

The school send the money since Tuesday and it is now Friday with no signs of a deposit pending. I'm getting very anxious because school starts on Tuesday and I won't have time to order all my books to arrive within next week (and that's if I get my money). It's obviously false advertising when it states the direct deposit is easy and fast because it definitely is not. As soon as I receive my money I will close my account and go somewhere else because this has been such a nightmare for me and no other bank, no matter how crappy, has done this to me in the past.

I have had one card from a previous state for 10 years. I let it run out almost to its renewal date then I found out someone had used my card so I reported it. When I went to get a new card they told me I can't because I failed to answer security questions correctly. I did answer them correctly but the Government says I didn't according to their data from the Government. They are random questions which are about people, place and other such questions.

I answered questions about knowing certain people. I told the truth, I didn't know them and the other questions I answered correctly. So I didn't know all their answers because I never heard of these people, places or things. Their data from the Government says I am not who I say I am. I was so upset. In other words a stranger got my info and used my card and now I am no longer me. I have had my same social security number since I'm 16 and have my Valid Id but they say they can't verify my identity..

So I can no longer use the WalMart card nor will they give me a new card. I am a Valid citizen born and raised in the United States of America. I am a 64 year old woman with 8 kids and 17 Grandchildren and now reside in California... I am who I say I am... Now they say I am not who I am. I suggest all of you return your cards and drop WalMart because they will just give your identity to an alien or an illegal and then tell you, you are not who you say you are but someone else will become You....

I have never been so humiliated in my life. They give illegals Drivers Licenses and now as a Citizen and a legal resident of this Country. I cannot be verified as to who I AM.. By WalMart. This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. If I was issued a card some 10 years ago and have used it properly to pay my bills, why are they rejecting me now. I have a CDL class A been verified by the Government to haul stuff across the country and you want to say you can’t verify who I am now at 64. Something is very wrong with the WalMart System. Be careful Folks you will be next..

They said no, and I should receive my card in 7-10 days. This is the week of Christmas so I had to drive 50 miles to pay the bill, with cash. On the 12th of January I still had not received the new card. I thought, maybe I had over looked it in the mail and I was allowing for the holidays. I called them and they said it was put in the mail that day! Well it was time to pay that same bill again. I waited 2 days because it was just coming from the state next to mine.

After the mail was delivered, today, I called Walmart's corporate office and they said now they would need to send me ANOTHER card. I suppose that is one way to keep customers from complaining to the corporate office. I explained to them that I would rather wait on the card that was mailed 2 days ago. They said I could go purchase another card and they will transfer the balance but it is a temporary and I cannot pay the bill with it. Long story short, It seems to me Walmart can hold your funds for as long as they wish. I thought "They've put a hold on my card because of the repeat transaction. Crap." I called, they said they removed the block after I told them some info. Great. I went to Rally's. My card declined. I called back. They said they had NO recourse but to BLOCK my card, report it as compromised and send me a new one which would take up to two weeks. WHAT? I had it in my possession the entire time, do NOT agree it's compromised, and all that happened was me trying to get some food. My card wasn't freaking compromised. Nothing I said would get them to change their mind. They said they CAN'T do anything else at this point. For no reason. The guy said when I used my card at Rally's maybe someone got my info. But that doesn't even make sense. It declined then, not after then.

Anyway, I complained and demanded they send it FedEx (express service) for free and got them to do that. So they are sending it 3-5 days instead of 2 weeks. Still ridiculous that I can't access my money for 3-5 days because they pulled this **. I will be finding a new card service. Walmart Money Card is great until you have a problem. Then their customer service is absolute balls. This isn't the only time this has happened. I had an account a few years ago and had my card on my Xbox Live service. My account got compromised and someone used some of my money to buy credits for FIFA. (Account was hacked remotely).

When I called XBOX they restored my account and said I should reverse the transactions through my card company. But when I put in a request to reverse the transactions, WMMC said that since I had an account with Xbox the transactions were legit no matter what and then THEY closed MY account because they said it was wrong for me to file for a dispute when I made the purchases (which I hadn't). They said I could open a new account, but they closed my account with $65 in it and didn't give it back to me. So yeah. No more WMMC for me. Screw this awful company.

As a person that has worked for other credit/debit card companies, I know that sometimes, they will have that information. I also know that some Internet merchants use a different name when it comes to what shows up on a statement. I called the number on my card to get to customer service in order to try to get more information such as a phone to call to verify if it was a company I had done business with and the agent I spoke to misunderstood what I needed and instead of simply giving me the information (which I was given 5 minutes later by a supervisor), they assumed it was a fraudulent charge and blocked my account and issued me a new card effectively blocking me from my money that was on the card.

When I asked why this was done, I was told that it happens automatically whenever fraud is suspected on a card. When I asked to speak to someone regarding the mistake, as we as humans are sometimes prone to making, I was told that there is nothing that can be done and I would have to wait up to two weeks to get my new card. When I informed the supervisor of the situation, mainly that my paycheck was direct deposited to the card and by doing this, they essentially prevented me from access to my money to pay bills etc. they offered to FedEx my new card at a fee of $15 (charged to me, naturally). I expressed my feelings that that is unacceptable and they simply said, "We are sorry, there's nothing we can do." Long story short, I am now unable to access my money and have to wait until I get a new card in the mail. They did nothing to rectify the situation and have left me without access to the money that I work for.

I keep a Walmart debit card to make online purchases so if it gets hacked, it won't as big a deal as it would if my credit union Visa debit card was hacked. However, last night when I checked my balance there was a lot less in the account than I thought. My credit union always tells me what goes through my account and provides phone numbers of entities that have debited my account. They do this over the phone and include such information on my bank statement. What Walmart told me after considerable wait time was that Amazon Prime debited my account for $99 dollars. Now I do not even like Amazon and I told Walmart that I was suspicious of this debit. Walmart not only couldn't provide me with a phone number so I could contact Amazon but the website they referred me to so I could file a complaint wanted $25 dollars to process the issue. I don't see how a person can accurately keep tabs on transactions involving a debit without contact numbers for those debiting my account. Their behavior confirms my practice of avoiding doing business with Walmart as much as possible. My credit union reveals Walmart to be the cheap hustlers that so many of us think they are. Nobody wants to do their JOB but quick to deduct your money-overdraft fees etc. If my debit card was not in jeopardy why did the bank cancel it? If they did not believe me then I should been able to keep my old debit card- delaying my holiday shopping and event activities too. And Walmart checking account dispute supervisor/staff are very unprofessional, use their own emotions to make decisions about issues that they don't investigate properly.

They were embarrass when I told the supervisor the package was never delivered and I had an Post office receipt showing that they had returned the items, Walmart dispute supervisor she never tried ask me for the information nor say "we will call the post office and verify get back to you." Instead she was hollering at me because authority never like admit WRONG as if i was nobody, telling me to call the merchant Paula Young whom I had originally contact, refuse to even listen to me when I told them it was not an authorize charge. My question was suppose you don't get it back I still obligated to get a refund on item never delivered?

My card was stolen, The bank is paid monthly fee to secure and protect my money and the merchants are so greedy desperate. They fail to investigate cases because of the overwhelming criminal activities when it comes to credit cards, checks and debit cards, etc. This is Unfair practices and Consumer Protection and Civil Rights Violations that requires a small law suit to be file to get results... Every year I would use my Walmart card for my income taxes. I had over 4,000 deposit in my account and they charged me 3.00 a month. Well, when I started disputing my charges on my card and guess what, when my card expires they will not renew it. It's because I was always inquiry about charges that I didn't make. This card is a rip off. Walmart should be ashamed of themselves but hey, they don't care as long as they get their cut on the monthly service fees.

This is the worst card!!!!!!! If you return something it takes 10 days for it to go back on your card, which really sucks. Then if you get gas they take twice the amount off your card, and if you know you’re getting money back they take it and hide it and make you think you’re getting it back. But it’s theirs, they take it. Then when you think you are getting your money back it’s all on hold which really sucks because you cannot use it and the people you talk to are rude and they’re from India or Saudi. And they really don’t speak English and could care less about you!!!!!

I received this card from a generous parent at the end of the school year, saying I could get something for the classroom. I waited until the fall then discovered that Wal-Mart had charged me $3.00 per month as a "service fee". What "service" did I receive except to get screwed out of money? I will warn all the teachers and parents at the school that this is NOT the way to give teachers money for the classroom. It's just a way to give Wal-Mart some money for nothing. Such a disappointment. Over half the balance of the card is gone. Did Wal-Mart really need the money more than the children in my class needed supplies????

The problem is that my wife's walmart money card mastercard account was frozen. I get paid only twice a month from my job and she gets paid every other week. When my paycheck came, I paid the bills with my check. So when my wife got paid today, direct deposit on the card that was frozen. We were going to buy food and gas. We found out that her card does not work so she called customer service and found out that her account has been frozen because they say that it has been compromised by a vendor. When asked who the vendor is, they said that they could not reveal that to us but as a protection, they would mail us a new card and that it would take approximately two weeks to get here. My wife mentioned that we have a visa card through walmart. They told us they could not transfer the money to the other card, that we would have to wait until we get our new card. Neither one of us gets paid for two more weeks.

Borrowing money is not an option. We have three children, very little food in the house and about a weeks worth of gas to get back and forth to school and work if we're lucky. Now what? I understand that they are trying to protect her money but they are also protecting the money from her. It would be nice if there was a way to positively verify us and possibly fix it where we could get the money at a walmart or transfer it to her other walmart moneycard (Visa) that is still working but has no money on it instead of making us wait until the card comes in the mail which is estimated at two weeks. If you live paycheck to pay check like we do, you may not want to do direct deposit with this company. Instead find a local bank and deposit your money there.

My card expired at the end of November I thought they would automatically send me a new one, they didn't. So on December 1st I called them to get a new one. They asked me to verify my address 3 times, plus before I called I had updated my address online. She informed me that It would take two weeks to receive the new card. All my money is on my Wal-Mart card, my direct deposit goes onto it, everything.

Two weeks come and go, no card and the little bit of cash I had is gone. Now it's been almost a month, still no card. I called today to find out what's going on and they got my address wrong! She says she will order me a new one, which will take another two weeks to receive. And she said there is no way I can get my money off in the mean time. I was barely making ends meet as it was. Now I have no way to access my money, I have no gas, no food, and no way to pay my bills. I will be canceling my direct deposit and as soon as I get my card (if it ever shows) I will be taking all my money off. Never get a Wal-Mart money card!

I received a rebate, and instead of waiting for a check, they said they could put it on my card (Wal-Mart Money Card affiliated with Green Dot). Being it was Christmas time, having the money faster would be great. So, I thought. Well when the rebate was credited to my card, Wal-Mart/Green Dot Corp. put a hold on my card insinuating the credit was a refund and was researching the purchase end of a refund. I informed Wal-Mart Money Card it was not a refund but a rebate that I had been expecting for over 30 days. Why they would hold money that was a payment to me was beyond me. While somewhat keeping it together, they asked me to furnish them with a transaction number & date. I did. And they are still holding the funds!!! I talked to Green Dot Corporate office today, and she couldn't help me. Additionally, I have asked both Wal-Mart and Green Dot to send the funds back to the merchant and they said, "no, we cannot do that" so I asked for them to please cancel my card and they said, "no, we cannot do that either". The merchant cannot help me because the payment they made to me was successfully confirmed.

Now Wal-Mart/Green Dot want some sort of letter from the merchant, which I already furnished. I'm very upset, disappointed with the extreme actions these two companies are putting me through with what is mine. This is currently happening to me, my funds are still being held; I cannot give them anymore information than I already have; Christmas has past, which we did not have; I have a disconnect notice if not paid by tomorrow... ALL this because Wal-Mart/GreenDot want to hold funds with no apparent reason. My next stop is the president of both companies, unless I can get other suggestions???

On 12/13/14, I called into Wal-Mart Moneycard Customer Service to report an un-authorized transaction in the amount of $750. When speaking to the representative, they informed me that in order to protect the rest of the funds in my account, they have de-activated the card I possessed and would be sending me a replacement card and submitting a dispute claim to corporate (Green Dot Bank) for review. They stated that it would take 10 business days for processing. They asked if I would like to have the replacement card FedEx'd to me for a charge of $15. Of course I agreed, as I had bills pending and needed access to my money.

Three days later (12/16/14), the replacement card arrived. The following morning (12/17/14) I promptly went online to activate the card, which it would not allow me to do. I attempted this 3 times, after which I called the phone number printed on the activation sticker. After going through the automated system and entering all requested information, the system came back telling me that the card that I had entered into the system was not valid. I attempted entering the information 3 times assuring that I hadn't entered information incorrectly.

I then went through the copious automated menus to finally speak to an actual representative, which informed me that the expiration date stamped on the card I received (Jan 2015) was incorrect and that the card I paid $15 to have FedEx'd to me was invalid, as it should have an expiration date of Jan 2019. They went on to inform me that as the "Replacement" card was processed on 12/13/14, due to my original card having an expiration date of Jan 2015, a "Renewal" card was processed on 12/17/14, rendering the "Replacement" card invalid. This of course made no sense to me, as I went on to tell the representative, that under normal circumstances, when a card is coming up on its expiration, it remains valid until the "Renewal" card arrives and the customer calls to activate that "Renewal" card. So, since the "Renewal" card had not even been shipped to me yet, the "Replacement" card has an 2015 expiration date and we are still in 2014, why would this card in my possession, that I paid $15 to have FedEx'd to me, not be able to be activated.

I asked to speak to a Supervisor and was told that one wasn't available and that all they could do was to put in a request for a Corporate Resolution Representative to call me back within an hour and a half. Now this original phone call started at 8am PST, by 12 noon, I had still not heard from Corporate, so I promptly called Customer Service back to inquire. The now 2nd representative I've explained the issue to assured me that I would hear from corporate by the end of the day. By 5pm PST, I had still not received a call back and proceeded to call customer service again. This time the representative went on to tell me that they would have to put in an entirely new request for a corporate dispute callback and that I would receive a call back within 2 business days.

On Saturday 12/20/14 I received a voicemail from Green Dot Bank Corporate with the representatives first name only and a call back number. When I called back I was connected to an automated system asking for the extension number of the representative I wished to speak to. I of course did not have this information, as it was never left on the voicemail left by the Green Dot Bank representative. I was able to leave a voice mail, which I asked for a Green Dot Bank representative to call me back immediately and left my cell number, as to not miss a callback a 2nd time.

As of today 12/23/14 at 11am, I had still not received a call back from Green Dot Bank, so I once again called Wal-Mart Moneycard Customer Service and got connected to a very unsympathetic service representative that proceeded to place me on hold at which time our call got disconnected. I called back and after 20 minutes, finally spoke to a manager, only to find out that the request to send a "Replacement" card to the invalid "Replacement" card I received on 12/16/14 was processed only today and that I wouldn't receive it for another 7-10 days. I am beyond frustrated to say the least, overdue on my bills, unable to do any Holiday shopping, all because this bank claims that they can't go into their system and activate a card that by all intensive purposes should be valid.

My wife uses a wal-mart money card. Her card was lost today so we had to call customer "service" to report it stolen. Let me just say that this was the absolute WORST experience that we have ever had with any company on the phone. I've had telemarketer calls with more knowledgeable people, hell I've had collection calls where the person on the other side was more polite and at least knew what they were doing. Long story short, after talking to two people for almost two hours (neither of which spoke or understood English very well) we were told that the card was cancelled and we had to wait around 2 weeks for a new card to arrive! 2 weeks is a long time to wait when your check was just direct deposited the day before and now you don't have access to it. We were told that there is no way to get our money other than to wait for the new card to come in. When we asked to speak with a supervisor, we were told that there were none available at night and that they were all we could get. Such horrible service from a company that deals with people's money!

I want to share what I used as a backdoor method to get our money while we waited for the new card, and hopefully someone else will benefit from it. When you cancel your card, your account still stays active on your online account management. If you decided to purchase the mid or high level card (not the blue one) you have an option to send money to someone. I went to Wal Mart, purchased another card, and sent the money from her account to "my" account. The transfer was instant and we had access to the money again. Don't let their horrible customer "service" reps make you think that you have to wait to access your funds. There is always a way around a bad situation. Would I recommend this card to anyone? Not a chance. Terrible customer service, poor turnaround time for lost cards, and no one to speak English to tells me to go elsewhere.

I went online to see what was going on. This is when I saw a -0- Balance and $200.00 in Deposits. I expected the deposits would be credited back in a timely manner. When it was not, I contacted Wal-Mart/Green Dot Money Card, Help. When I got no HELP from Ralph I asked to speak with his supervisor. This is when Cory badge #** (She was very difficult to understand and Rude) came on the line. Cory told me I would not be credited for 7 to 10 days. It would be at least December 9th before I am credited. Cory explained Wal-Mart has to credit it from their side first so that is what takes it so long. I explained everything to Cory and the fact that our money is budgeted. Without this we are not able to fuel the vehicles to get to work this week in addition to other items needed. This really didn't seem to be of any concern to her. It appeared to me her main concern was to end the call as she stated many times. Cory refused to let me speak with her supervisor although I asked multiple times.

I am not only disappointed in Wal-Mart/Green Dot Money Card but am also concerned about my finances for this week. I am very hesitant to put money on the card in the future as well as use the card for gas pumps. $200.00 might not seem like a lot so why does Wal-Mart need to hold on to it so long. Actually after reading some of the other reviews in addition to my experience I am very hesitant overall about the card and would not recommend it to anyone. If anyone of actual authority with Wal-Mart or Wal-Mart/Green Dot Money Card is reading this and can make a difference please reply. It appears a lot of us are being put between a rock and a hard place. Thanks to the Wal-Mart/Green Dot Money Card. Thank you for taking the time to read about our experience and BEWARE WAL-MART/GREEN DOT MONEY CARD.

They told me that due to "unusual" reload activity, they have cancelled my card and I could no longer use it or apply for any other cards at walmart. I asked her to tell me what the unusual activity was because I load money from my bank card and if something was compromised I needed to know. She would not tell me. I did not do anything any different than I have for 2 years. So basically they cancelled my card because I loaded money to it. Ha Ha - What a bunch of frigging idiots. I came across your articles from last September about walmart moneycards being hacked and the money spent at Targets in NY. I found this due to the fact this happened to me on 11/13/14. That was the day my paycheck is direct deposited onto my walmart money card. I had over $1200 on the card as of 8AM. I took my son to the doctors and stopped at walgreens on the way home to get my son medicine. My card got declined at walgreens. I went out to the car and checked my walmart money card account online and it said I had a $0 balance. The last charge was $950 at a Target in the bronx NY. They took every last cent I had on my card which was all of my money. I called Walmart and was told they cannot do anything until the debit posts which could take 10 days. The debit posted on 11/15/14. I then had to fill out a dispute form and wait for a letter in the mail.

The earliest I could get my money back is two weeks. This is unacceptable. I live paycheck to paycheck. My electricity is going to be shut off, my car insurance is going to be cancelled and my car my be repoed due to no payment. Then I have to decide to pay these bills or pay my rent. I feel like with one swipe the hackers have taken away my life and walmart could care less. After reading your articles this has been happening since September 2013 yet the only way I found out was when it happened to me. How is this not on the news by now since the issue has lasted over a year and why has walmart not warned me about this! If I get my money back I will be closed my walmart money card right away. At this point I hate walmart and never want to shop there again.

I made a purchase at a furniture store back in April. I purchased over $5,000 for three rooms. I paid cash for most of it but for some of it, I used my Walmart money card. The total purchase on the Walmart money card was $1,386 and I had issues with one of the rooms furniture so the store returned it but said they had to put it back on the Walmart money card because the return was only for $744.09 and I spent more than that with the card. I was okay with that. They told me I'd have the money back on the card in three days. I checked my account, the money showed it was there but when I went to use the card, it declined. I contacted Walmart, they told me there was a block on it.

They told me I needed to fax the original receipt to prove I made purchases totaling the amount, even though I was able to pull my account up and tell them the dates and amounts that wasn't good enough. So I went to the furniture store they made copies of the original receipts and they faxed everything to Walmart. I then called Walmart again they said that it would be reviewed and would take one business day. I called back 24 hours later and they were telling me it wasn't the original receipt even though the furniture store had the products and invoice numbers on the receipt and the fax came from the furniture store. They said they would have to call the store and verify it with the store manager!

They told me that the numbers didn't add up that I didn't purchase that much in product, I had four invoices one for $100, another for $100, one for $200, and one for $986, obviously they don't teach foreigners how to add in school they told me it was a mistake or fraud! After dealing with Walmart for three days and hours on the phone, they finally opened the money. I withdrew every cent and canceled my card. If anyone is trying to commit fraud, it would be Walmart because they took the three dollar fee and then blocked my account. If they thought it was fraud they shouldn't of even took the $3! Don't get a Walmart money card! I wish the attorney General knew the things they were doing with people's money that belong to the people and not Walmart!!!!

I have been dealing with this battle for two long weeks! I have had the Walmart's prepaid debit visa Money Card for about six months. Other than some basic expenses, I trusted Walmart to make my car payment. I have been going through some tough times, and being late to your car company is stressful enough. I went to Walmart after work Monday the 27th, and deposited a total of $1,200.00. I was told by the CS, that I could only deposit $1000.00 at a time, so I did it in two transactions. Later that night, I sent $800.00 to Nissan Financial through their payment financial company Bill Matrix. It's bad enough they charge me $12.95 per transaction every month. After I posted the transaction, it was rejected by my institute. I didn't understand why? I had the funds in there?!?! I even called Money card and they verified my funds. They told me to try it after 10 pm PST, since their system will be done with their updates by then. I tried to post a payment again, and even tried several times after. Declined. I called Money Card back and still couldn't get any answers.

In the morning the funds were taken?!?!? I explained to them I never received a confirmation number from Nissan?!?! How could the funds be gone! They gave me an approval number to give to Nissan, which didn't help, and directed me to Bill Matrix. After being interrogated by Nissan collections, Bill Matrix explained that I had put in the wrong zip code, and that's why the payment was declined. Even with the approval number they couldn't process my payment. I contacted Moneycard, explaining the situation, and now was told I had to wait till December to get the money back!!! Ooo hell no!

Because the story is so long, I am trying to input the key points: I have called Walmart's Money Card, Bill Matrix, and Nissan so many times. I even have had three way calls between both companies, trying to get Bill Matrix to fax over a Statement of Release. Which Bill Matrix has done four times to the same fax number. Each Money card representative has told me lies and different stories. Just today, I had one guy eating on the phone and told me my claim/ticket expired and I need to fax them again. After I asked to speak to a supervisor, he put me on mute (hold with the music equals mute to me) for two minutes and then hung up on me. So there I am calling again and again. This time a supervisor tells me to email them, but Bill Matrix's protocol is faxing only due to security reasons. A circle we go again, and now with a new claim/ticket number and same approval number, I call Bill Matrix for another Statement of Release faxed to the same damn number!

I rushed another phone call to Money Card after a 15 minute hold, and was told they received the faxed document but the approval number is wrong!?!?! I double checked it with the last supervisor and even the document had the correct one, but this supervisor tells me it's a whole different number!!! Now they have to forward it to a research department to get it looked over! They have lied to me several times, processed a payment that was rejected without the proper account identification (zip code), and still continue to hold my funds till December per five different Moneycard Representatives.

I don't care what Bill Matrix keeps telling me, that my payment should be rejected back after 10 business days, Walmart Moneycard keeps confirming they are keeping the $812.95 till December! I am stressed and wake up through the the night, swearing I hear a tow truck driver! I promised Nissan that I am paying them tomorrow Moneygram, but still they are pushing for my payment. I'm out $812.95 and out of ideas or ways to make my car payment. I swear... If they take my car?!?!?!

They said they would send dispute papers in mail and you only have 8 days to receive, fill out and send back.

We never got the paper after 10. I call and was told they would send out a new one. They did and I sent it back along with the case number from state police showing I filed charges. I received that paper one day before my 10 days was up and had postmark to prove it. I received a letter telling me case is closed because I failed to send to them on time. Are you kidding. You send to me late, failed to send first one and then denied me money stolen from me. $360.00 gone. Currently I'm unemployed and through my state I have direct deposit allowed for my unemployment benefits. I didn't have ANY type of bank account until yesterday after this happened to me. I am a Type 1 diabetic and was going to purchase my insulin and supplies, which if any of you know a diabetic you know they need insulin to LIVE. I always check my balance to see how much money I will have left until my next unemployment check and when I did I noticed I only had 10.51 left on my card. Now I have been using Walmart's prepaid card since they were with GE capital bank, which btw helped me out a hell of a lot more than this Green Dot crap. I had identity theft once last year. Someone got somehow got my card information and made a hotel stay in Oregon. I have since received a new card after that incident.

I called up the old customer service line and was given my money back that same day and was able to take it all out of the card before they cancelled it. This time however I had identity theft in Miami, someone took out 220 dollars from an out of network ATM and then spent 2.14 for a soda or something similar at the same Walgreens store in which they took my money out of a Chase Bank ATM. So here I am with 227.14 stolen from me on a completely fixed income. I live check to check right now. When I noticed I IMMEDIATELY called the customer service number and filed the dispute thinking I would get my money back right away and I could do the same thing I did before. WELL BOY WAS I WRONG. Walmart told me I couldn't even file the complaint until it posted to my account, (funny though the money is already gone) so I was told I had to wait until it posted which could be up to 10 business days they said. I completely lost my mind because I NEED my insulin supplies which that money was going towards.

They told me there was nothing that could be done no matter how many people/supervisors I spoke with. So the transaction posted yesterday on the 22nd, I called them today to attempt again for the 10th time to get my money back, to which I was told I had to download a Transaction Dispute form, fill that out and as this specific supervisor Jay told me I could take a picture of it and send it to an email address that I later found out wasn't even valid. So I did what they told me to do even after the obscene questions they asked about if I was in Miami or if I gave my PIN number to anyone (my wife and mother don't even know my PIN) and then emailed the form to the supposed correct email which I'm still not 100% sure of. All I know is I need my money back and I cannot wait 10 business days for an investigation and a letter from them saying whether or not they will be issuing me MY MONEY back.

All I can say is that if I do not receive every single penny that was stolen from me back I will be suing Walmart and Green Dot for pain and suffering, my lost wages and the fact that if I don't receive my money by October 30th I will be going to the hospital so I can stay alive on this planet and then they'll be paying for my medical bills as well. This is absolutely Absurd how they can treat people this way with their own money. If a regular bank can issue you the money while they're investigating your claim, why can't a multi-million if not Billion dollar company do the same thing?

I used the card fully within the allowed deposit/withdrawal limits. Nowhere in the agreement is it stated where money cannot be withdrawn from an ATM; in fact, it tells me where I can go to specifically withdraw cash from their network of ATMs. My account was soon blocked from any more deposits, but they allowed me to spend the remaining money I had in my account.

Green Dot also will not let me add funds to my PayPal account, now. I have no idea why my legal activity with my MoneyCard account with Walmart would affect my ability to use Green Dot for my PayPal account. I have spoken several times with Walmart and Green Dot customer service, and they always gave me slightly different reasons for their incompetence.

Walmart/Green Dot are criminals for breaching the agreement. I have now spent the majority of my remaining balance, and have requested for my account to be closed and the remainder sent to me via check by mail.

Becoming frustrated with the typical fees associated with Banking checking/savings accounts, I elected to close my accounts in order to open a Wal-Mart money card. My direct Deposit goes directly on the card. I am not charged the excessive fees associated with typical Banks. If I don't have the money on the card, I simply cannot use my card. Everything aside from the often poor customer service related to a language barrier & absence of any form of customer satisfaction provided, Honestly, I chalked it up to the fact that if Customer Satisfaction isn't free. If I want this service, I must PAY a Bank fees in order to receive it. That being said, I began to realize that when items purchased were returned and the reimbursement being placed back on my card, that these fees were NEVER added back. This has happened enough times for me to initially be told the process takes Wal-Mart up to 10 business days to add the money back. Even though the originating store released the reimbursement immediately.

There've been times when I simply gave up! And don't even attempt to resolve with their representatives, they're 99% unprofessional, unknowledgeable & have NO grasp of the ENGLISH language. What started out as a way for me to avoid banking fees that I couldn't afford has resulted in my realization that sadly, in order to for me to protect my money Standard Bank fees cannot be avoided. The Wal-Mart money card is a joke.. and Sam Walton (founder of WalMart) would be aghast to see how his once honest & highly valued empire has become a place to avoid in every arena. I've heard repeatedly from current & former USA Wal-Mart employees enough about their abhorrent treatment/wages that I no longer endorse Wal-Mart on any level.

I have made payments on the exact payment due date of the 26th of the month either online or in person at a local Walmart, other times way before then. But this morning when I went online to see if the payment had been received, it showed that the payment was made but I was charged a late fee. Never before have I ever been charged a late payment fee ahead of time. I don't know if this is because Walmart now uses Synchronicity Bank instead of GE Capital Bank and that this is Synchronicity Bank's policy or not, but it if this is how they are going to treat their customers, it is better to pay off Walmart credit card debt as soon as possible. But if you are like me, poor and barely making end meet, it is very hard to pay off entire debts. I have other issues like feeding my family, clothing them, pay rent, utilities, gas money for my vehicle which is over seventeen years old - you get it. This the first time that a bank charges late fees ahead of time which I think that it is another corrupted way to make extra money.

The card will not accept cash loads, and that I am ineligible to establish another account with this company in the future. Attempt to speak with a specialist were blocked through normal channels, and I had to select the "report a card lost or stolen" option in order to speak with a customer service representative. This representative informed me that my account had been terminated due to my possession of multiple cards.

I have been a user of this card, my ONE AND ONLY card, for over five years without incident. Upon further inquiry, I was also informed that no further information concerning the validity of this claim could be supplied to me. I have used this card for various direct deposit, money transfer, check cashing, cash loads, and purchases over the last few years, all with the same personal information and security safeguards. Any internal review of these facts would instantly determine that I could not possibly have any other cards of this type in my possession.

The personal consequences of this outrageous and damaging action are that my ability to maintain my home and my very livelihood are now in jeopardy. The consequences to Walmart and Green Dot will be that I will terminate my patronage of Walmart/Green Dot, any and all of their associated services, products and affiliates, and encourage my family, friends, and acquaintances to do the same. I tried to purchase the code over the phone with a Straight Talk agent after he got my serial number from my phone and my Walmart money card information. He then said his system wouldn't process the transaction and I had to do the purchase online. I then tried to purchase the code online. It said "your card has been charged" and showed a button that said activate. After I clicked the button to activate, nothing happened. I didn't get the code or even a confirmation number.

I then tried the process again (I needed my phone working) and the same thing happened. I then checked my Walmart money card online and could see I had been charged twice for $7.65. I then contacted Straight Talk to get a refund and then was told the two charges showed the serial number of the phone wasn't the same for the two charges and due to company policy I couldn't get a refund. Even after I explained there was a error and I didn't get a network access code, they said policy stated no refunds, and I had to contact my Bank or card provider to dispute the charges.

I called Walmart money card and told them what happened. The "supervisor" in the dispute department said if I authorized the charges, she couldn't do anything. So I called Straight talk again. After a long time on the phone with them, I was finally told they couldn't process a refund because the serial number for the two purchases did not match up. I told them many times I only used the same serial number and that was not possible. I did not authorize a different serial number from my phone so the charges were not authorized.

I then called Walmart money card again and got the same "supervisor" and told her somehow the serial number did not match my phone and I did not authorize that. She was extremely rude and very unprofessional and since I called in before about it, she would not help me. She then threatened to close my account and I would lose all the money on my Walmart money card. I had to beg her not to close my account because I needed my money. She told me to call law enforcement because she would not dispute the charges. I'm still in shock I had to beg her not to close my account and wish I had recorded the call because I would take legal action for this. She told me all calls were recorded though.

I have had Walmart MoneyCard for over 5 yrs now and never had any huge problems until today! I was in an emergency situation and tried using my card and it was declined. My sick son and I were stranded for hours in 105 degree heat due to this. This evening, I called customer service after verifying online that I in fact had plenty of funds (MY MONEY) in my acct. First off, the outsourced Philippines-based company answering the phones are rude, incompetent and cannot speak English that I can understand fully. What I did understand is that my card was blocked because of a suspicious credit from Paypal.

Paypal simply issued a credit of $27.99 back to my card yesterday because of an eBay auction I won but never received. Original purchase was more than credit because I won several auctions and paid all at one time. Debit charge somewhere in ballpark of $63.00. When I asked the rep why this was considered suspicious and enough to block access to my entire funds, his response was: "Ma'am, when there is a credit for a certain amount, there should be an original debit of the same amount and we need to investigate."

I am floored and so disgusted with this establishment. Who is running this company and writing policies? I believe this is yet another disgusting excuse to finagle consumer funds!! How many of you have shopped either online or in a department store and purchased more than 1 item, got home and realized one of the items were defected and returned item? Original receipt $120, returned item $20. So you have a debit higher than a credit going back to your card. So the idiot rep has no claim to his statement and I have no access to my money. If they are suspicious about $27 credit then hold $27 until you grow some common sense or contact Paypal to verify but how dare you keep me from using my entire funds in the meantime. Where is the legal petition because I am ready to sign it now!

I've had a permanent Walmart Moneycard for the better part of three years now. Mostly, it was used to purchase gas, at the onsite Murphy's USA pumps, as it saves an additional 0.15/gal. I've always reloaded the card at Walmart, at either a register, or at their Money Center. I've NEVER had an issue with it, until just the the other day. Upon attempting to purchase gas, I was told my card was declined. So, I paid with cash and went on my way. When I got home, I called the customer service number. After entering the pertinent information, the recording told me my card had been cancelled and I would be unable to reload the card OR even purchase a new one. I was able to unlock the remaining money on the account (after all, it's MY money, right??). Do you all realize just how prevalent the GreenDot cards are?!

Right away, I knew this was going to be a headache, as the automated system's option for actually speaking to a live person only rerouted me to the option to change my PIN. So, I was able to send an email to their customer service people, and they called me back today. I was forwarded to Josh. Right away, I noticed that he was using canned responses ("that's what the system says"). I was told that due to "suspicious activity" my account had been closed and this "activity" could have been something as benign as reloading the card at an unusual place. A few days prior, I actually had reloaded the card with a MoneyPak, from a local Walgreen's (a lot more convenient and closer than Walmart). The amount was $60. SIXTY DOLLARS!!!

Poor Josh couldn't even tell me what the specific reasoning was for my account being canceled. When I asked to speak with HIS supervisor, he told me that HE was the supervisor. He then told me that he was able to unlock my account, so I could access my money. If Josh was competent, he should have been able to see that the remaining balance was already unlocked. When asked about specifics, he only said "the system doesn't say why". So, this system is fully capable of CANCELING someone's account, yet is totally unable to state why?!? BALLS!!! And why even have supervisors, if they're willing/able to give the information requested. I'm thinking poor Josh might simply have had perfect attendance, this preceding month, and he got to play supervisor, this week. HA! He didn't even know the money had already been unlocked.

Anyway, I know... tl;dr. 1. The "suspicious activity" doesn't even have to be large amounts of money, just a different location. 2. Don't expect any answers, only rehearsed and template responses. 3. The supervisors are little more than lackeys, with no real access to real information. 4. "Well, that's what the system says" (i.e. You're SCREWED!!)

I purchased this card although I already had one with a check cashing facility because the fees were so minimal. Before buying & loading the card, I spoke with 5 Walmart employees, including a manager to make sure I understood what I was buying. I was assured that all the information stated on the card's packaging was accurate and that being a product of Walmart, it was more reliable than the other cards available. So I bought it and loaded $150 on the card. The main reason I chose the card I did (the most expensive of the choices, all Walmart brand) was because it was the only one that had the ability to shop & pay bills online. I had bills due that day and was told by the employees (based on the information that they had from thoroughly examining the card) that I could use the card that day to pay my bills online. I loaded all my money onto the card, went home, and tried to pay my bills.

The card was denied every time (& the bills I was attempting to pay were major companies like PG&E, Netflix, Virgin Mobile). So I called the customer service line. I was told that only certain vendors would accept the temporary card & I would have to wait until my permanent card was mailed to me which would take 7-14 business days. I was livid. I then asked why they did not make this clear on the packing and was told that there are a few free places that take the temp card and, no, they didn't have a list. I said that I wanted to get my money off the card & close the card. I was told that I could not withdraw the money because it was a temporary card and they could close the account and send me a check. This would also take 7-14 business days. That's convenient... for them.

I kept the card open and had to borrow money to pay my bills. I have had numerous issues with them since including having my card "declined" by a vendor online, stating that the financial institution was saying the security code I entered was wrong. I retried the transaction 2 times. On the third time, the card was declined outright. Upon calling the dreaded customer service line, I found out that they put a hold on the funds each time. It drained my account. They agreed that the mistake was entirely their fault, but due to their policies (they had the nerve to tell me they were doing it for MY PROTECTION) they could not release the funds until 7-10 BUSINESS days later.

When I asked where or how I could file a complaint, I was told that wasn't possible. This service has been an awful experience from the word go. I would recommend that anyone considering buying one should NOT. I truly believe it is a scam to get you to pay the purchase price of the card & the monthly fee. They completely misrepresented the capabilities of the card by omitting important details and miswording the description on the packaging. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS.COMPANY. IT IS NOTHING BUT HEADACHES AND LIES. I am disgusted that Walmart puts their name on this product. Again, I think this is a clever ruse to make you feel like you can trust the product and you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT.

I was paid for business services by someone handing me one of these cards. It seemed simple enough. He had the card, still in the package, and a receipt from Walmart. He had paid the amount of money he owed me, as well as the fee for the card. I tried to return it to Walmart for a refund. No soap. I was told that I had to activate the card in order to get the money. By that time, only a few days or so, a "service fee" had been charged. I went online and activated the card, only to find out that I could not withdraw cash, but I could only use the card to pay for stuff. I needed the cash for the business, not money for materials!

In multiple calls to Walmart MoneyCard help desk, I was told that they would have to mail me another card (which would take enough weeks to incur yet another fee) that I could use for cash withdrawals. After that time passed, it still was not here. I called and they put in a rush order for it. The card arrived, with only a few days left before I had another fee. I decided, since my balance by this time, ended in $**91.89, I should try to spend it, rather than lose whatever denomination I would lose by trying to get cash out of their machine.

I was quite proud that I was able to spend down to the last .41 on the card on the day before I got charged another fee. BUT... and this is the part that makes me the most angry... Walmart held that transaction. It was pending until they charged the fee. In fact, it is STILL pending 5 days later. The company I used it with can't do a refund because it's pending. Walmart won't do anything except charge the fee when the company I bought from releases the charge. Walmart MoneyCard shows my current balance to be -$2.59. So now, I have items that I have purchased that I can't get... a fee that I have that I can't pay... with funds that I cannot get released. What a mess! At least I know to NEVER, EVER take this form of payment again.

I've been using this card for a few years and had been having a decent experience until a few months ago. My son's father pays me child support with a Green Dot card and I put it on my money card each month. So he sent me the number for the Money Pak and I called the automated number to add it because that's the only option to add the Money Pak. So I put in my 16 digit card number then the Money Pak. The automated system said, "We will be adding $200 to the card number ending in **" and it had the correct last 4 digits. So I proceeded. Finished the process and hung up. After a few minutes the money didn't show up so I called customer service. First off every person is foreign and barely speaks English. Next the automated system will tell you the reps have the same information as the website... then why do they even have reps?!?!? Aren't they supposed to be able to help us?

It takes forever to get through the process to talk to someone because you have to keep going through menus and choosing the correct number and each time it gives you extra options... almost like it is trying to convince you not to talk to a rep. So I finally get a rep and he tells me I need to wait at least 15 minutes to see my money on the account. Ok no problem. About an hour later I call back and the rep still can't find my money. Another hour later and 3rd rep he finally figures out the issue. My money was put on someone else's card. Turns out there is another Walmart money card that is literally 1 digit different than mine (but ends in the same 4). How convenient for them. And just my luck I managed to get that 1 digit off. And because they only read you back the last 4 digits I thought everything was correct. What kind of company makes 2 debit cards that are only 1 digit apart and uses those kind of cards on a system like this?

The guy told me lucky for me the card it got added to hadn't been used on about 4 months so it shouldn't be too hard to get the money back. He was really nice and actually semi spoke English but because of the crazy circumstances he had to transfer me to his supervisor. She told me it was my fault for putting in the wrong number and they couldn't just take the money from that other card. They would have to investigate it and make sure the other people didn't use the money on the card. If they did use it then they had no way to get my money back. I had to send in pictures of the front and back of the Money Pak and the receipt. They had to investigate the issue and it would take 10 business days. So for 2 weeks I had no money at all. Then a few days before the resolution date I called to figure out what was going on and the woman tells me they never received my pictures and once they got them it would be 10 business days.

I finally got my money back after all this ** and after 2 weeks. Then today I misplaced my card. Before I report it lost I wanted to see how long it takes to get a new card. The rep told me 7-10 business days and I asked if there was any way for me to access my funds. I just got paid Friday and every penny I have is on my money card. I understand 7-10 business days and even most banks are that way but at least with banks you can go to the bank and withdraw money. So he tells me there's no way to get it earlier. I told him as soon as I find my card I'm withdrawing my money and canceling because their customer service is horrible. He was so rude he said it's not their responsibility to keep up with my card and I should be more responsible.

Also when he answered instead of saying "Thank you for calling" or asking "How can I help you?" he instead said, "My name is ____ what is the date and amount of the transaction you have a problem with?" all in a very rude tone. I didn't have an issue with a transaction... why would you even answer the phone like that?!! It's not like you could really understand him very well anyway. Their call centers must be in the Middle East because every person I have ever spoken to has been foreign with very very broken English.

I had purchased a Walmart money card and put money on it to buy some items online and I went to activate it online. I was on my lunch break and needed the cash so I decided that I was going to just call and activate it so I did. When I did this the lady didn't tell me that I wasn't going to get an actual card in the mail and it turns out that I didn't get verification of who I was, so my card is only temporary. So I called customer support and I got so mad because the lady said that since I can't get verified for my first and last name and social that I can't receive an actual card.

I don't know when I can be approved or provide proof that I am who I am. The last time I had a card I shredded it because I wasn't approved and was just waiting for my actual card to come in the mail but it never did, so they closed that account. By the way that account had all of my information... which they said didn't matter because that has nothing to do with getting a new card.

WARNING! To good hardworking people, DO NOT USE THIS CARD COMPANY! Customer service is non-existent. I was foolish enough to use them for direct deposit and now sitting in 105-degree weather, stranded with my daughter, thanks to this company. All because they do not do what they tell you. Then when you call them, they act like idk. Oh well. Good luck trying to speak to a supervisor. Waste of your time and money.

Just posting a heads up that you cannot use the Walmart Money Card for credit or debit purchases or for ATM transactions in Canada. Otherwise, I have been fairly happy with the card and with the bill pay services. I just have to remember I can't use it in Canada. I am guessing you can't use it anywhere outside the US.

I loaded over a thousand dollars on my Walmart card on July 11, 2014 and on July 12, 2014 I tried to use my card and the clerk told me that my card was declined because I had reached my limit for the day. So I called my card and come to find out I also had over 1000 dollars missing from my account. I spoke to customer service and they placed a lock on my account and told me that they were going to send me a new card which will take 5 to 7 days and that I will not be able to dispute the charges until they had cleared my account which will not clear until the 22nd of July. I got my new card 5 days later and as of now July 19, 2014 I am still awaiting the charges to clear.

I have had my Walmart card since 2007 and the customer service has always been bad. In the past I had only use the Walmart card in between me finding a new bank when I was tired of a current bank that I was banking with. Walmart has made very little improvement since then with their service. The representatives that they use are foreign and I can't never make out what they're saying. The information that they do provide you with while you are on the phone with them seem confusing or contradictive to what they might have mention earlier in the conversation. I would not recommend this card at all to no one and if you had to use one, it should be use temporary and keep the funds on your card as low as possible. I will keep you updated with this story. Last month, went to check my balance on my card to pay my bills. Some fake operators with a fake company wouldn't tell me my balance unless they wanted me to sign up for a wal-mart gift card. I said no, I was only interested in checking my balance. So they kept pursuing the issue. They promised 7-10 they would send my gift card. Talking so fast so you couldn't understand. Send another operator to do a recording, I promise it's only a couple of dollars. Confirm your answer, got it or no. Oh they got it, alright. My money. I called Green Dot a few minutes ago, they act like they have no knowledge of it so they hesitated a minute. I said why are they on your company phone number making promises they can't keep. Oh miss, what you are dealing with is a scam. So I said I can't dispute it or anything, no, can't do anything. Didn't say sorry or anything. How dare a multibillion or million dollar business get wrapped up in a scam. That's just dirty schemes and dirty money and dirty greedy people. Taking money from people, not promising the service they are suppose to be getting. Wasting people's time and their hard earned money. Crooked hands and a cheating pair of false scales don't add up.

Hello everyone. Sorry, you guys are going through this as well as I. It also started for me in May of 2014... I made a payment for May, it didn't post. Once it did, they said it was late and they cut my credit limit by the couple oh hundred that I had just made. When I called customer service just like you guys, I got the runaround with reps that you could barely understand then in July of 2014, made my payment, they again held it without adding it to my credit limit. When I called and asked about why they were holding my 300$ payment, he also told me it was for my own good and something about security purposes. It will post to the credit limit in up to 21 days which will total 30 days from date made.

I asked him why and was it legal because it sounds far from it, he said yes... So I was calling every two days to see if the 300$ was released and it's still not and for some reason, my balance keeps growing. Called to check this morning, come to find out they had closed my account, no warning, no reason and my 300 I just made July 10th still has not posted... I was a good customer, never late and a card member well over 5-6 years... It seems after reading this site, all our problems started around the same time. For some reason Walmart is taking money. Someone needs to stop this and an action lawsuit needs to be filed based on this site alone..

I've had a Walmart money card for 5 years now. 2 years ago, my card was stolen and I reported it in and FedEx me a card, no problem. Now on June 30th, I reported my card missing. It is now July 18th and I still haven't received the placement card. My paycheck is on this card, I don't understand the delay. When I called, all I do all I get is press 1, press 2, press 3. When I finally reached a person, they cannot give me a corporate number. I have to set up an appointment for someone from corporate to call me. l've set up two appointments for corporate to call. I set 2 different appointment to call and no one has called yet. I'm in dire straits, I owe everybody. It's summertime, vacation time, anniversary time and I have no money. I am at wit's end, I don't know what to do. I literally hate this company.

I purchased a Walmart Money Card at my local Walmart store and loaded the card just to find out that I couldn't withdraw money from my card when I needed it the most. There's nowhere on the package saying that you can't withdraw your money from the card and when I called the customer service, they weren't good at all in helping me with the situation which ticked me off about it. So I suggest that they print the FACT outside of the package in the near future which I also doubt they will do. Oh well, now I have to wait 2 weeks before I can get my hard earned money. This card will be going into the garbage. I hope this help someone from buying this darn card.

Up until May 31st, 2014, Walmart Moneycard gave me no problems. I had money deposited with no worries, never had my account info stolen, none of that. I lost my card at the movies on the 31st and asked for a replacement. The rep told me 7-10 business days and the expected date of arrival. I figured I was going to be ok and that was around the same time of payday. Long story short, it is now July and I still haven't received my car. Lies have been told and a rep's "guarantee" has left me to be broke for a month and a half. Thanks to my boyfriend and family and a side hustle, I was able to have money in my pocket but now I have over $1400 that I can't use until I receive a card that I'm sure they've never sent out. So beyond pissed.

On June 27th 2014, I decided to give the Wal-Mart Green Dot card a try. I had just got paid and went ahead and put approximately $400.00 on the temporary card and bought several other items totaling about $200 and paid cash. I used the temporary card here and there for gas and other small purchases until my personalized card arrived the fifth of July. I activated it, used it several times, and everything seemed ok. Well, it's bill time, and I went ahead and paid most of the bills with my card I have been using for a while, saving the last for my new Green dot card. Long story short, I returned some purchases to Wal-Mart and when the exchange was almost complete I asked if they could put the approximately $180 on my new personalized card as I was getting ready to transition my direct deposit paycheck to this card. Anyway, the lady at customer service said no problem and put the funds onto my Green dot card, saying the funds should be available in about fifteen minutes.

Well, about twenty minutes later, stopped to get some food with a friend and the card declined. That was odd because there still should have been a little money left on it. Especially for a pizza. I figured maybe it was a mistake until I tried to swipe it at a coke machine for $1.50. I called customer service and my call was quickly accepted and I was on the phone with a customer service agent who I figured was about to solve all my problems. He said my card is locked because the return was put onto the card that was not initially used to purchase the returned item. I told him I only had the card for two days, had paid cash for the item returned, but apparently this is policy I failed to read, even though I do not see the problem with MY money being added to MY card. He informed me it would be my responsibility to gather both the original receipt and the return receipt and fax it to them. I really did not understand why I should have to take the time to fax them anything when there are transaction numbers or I am sure other means this could be verified between Green dot and Walmart. Then, he said after the 24 hour waiting period I would be allowed access to my money and the hold would be lifted.

I explained to him that my utility bill is nearly late and I do not have 24 hours. He said to take care of the faxing thing as soon as possible and everything will get cleared right up. Woke up extra early to run to Wal-Mart and all employees behind the counter acted like they had never heard this request before but accommodated me. Upon leaving, I called customer service to let them know we can now move on where I got the 24 hour wait period again. I asked if there was a record of my calls because the guy last night said we could make it urgent and process it through. She had no other answers besides policy is 24 hour waiting period. So, I gave it an hour or so and talked called again. This time, just to confirm they had received the fax and had all the information they needed. After about eight minutes of what seemed to be the first time she had to locate this information, she finally said she did receive it so I started pushing to unlock my card explaining that it is really important I have access to my money as soon as possible. After another few minutes and me not hiding my frustration any longer, she agreed to unlock the card since I "complied" with their requests and they had all the information they needed.

So, I went out, made a few transactions and everything was fine. With payday coming and a lot of overtime on this check I decided to make some less than necessary purchases and when I finally made it to pay my utility bill, declined. They were very understanding as I gave them a summary about what had happened my third day with this card. So, now we are on my sixth or seventh call to customer service in a 24 hour period and they informed me that my card was unlocked, however, it will be another 3-5 days while they investigate the return to Wal-Mart. The lady had no clue what I was talking about, was not understanding that I understood and solved the card being unlocked, but never, along this whole ridiculous mess, no one ever mentioned another 3-5 days for this single purchase. I expressed my extreme disappointment with their treatment and lack of flexibility for a new customer. I requested a supervisor and she said one was not present but got my phone number and said one would contact me as soon as possible. That was at least five hours ago. I asked how we could just end this relationship now and I get MY money and be done. That would take another 7-10 business days for them to get the check to me.

I understand policy but there is nothing odd about this transaction and they have documentation showing everything they need to see, everything is the way it should be. This is just insane to me. My suggestion would be to not even consider this service. Also, I am concerned with the longevity of this company and if they were to go out of business it seems like we are limited to and foreign outsourced customer support that does not have a clue. Once my money is cleared I am taking every penny out and I am done. If anybody has any suggestions of where I could talk to someone higher up the totem pole than the robots I have been communicating with, please let me know. That is, if I still have power. I am very concerned and uneasy about this company and I will think twice before I put a relatively large amount of money in a companies possession without doing extensive research. Good luck to everyone having a problem with these people and If I can help or anyone has any suggestions, please contact me immediately. Thanks!

I have been waiting for my income tax refund from the IRS since Jan. I received notification that my refund would be deposited to my account on June 24th. I checked on the 24th, 25th and 26th still nothing. I started to get nervous as rent, bills and other financial responsibilities were coming due. Oh like paying for my wedding dress and other wedding expenses. I looked online and saw all complaints how other peoples refunds were being returned. I called the money card phone number and listened to the recent purchases and denials. And wouldn't you know my refund of 1,800 was declined and was being sent back to the IRS. The recording said that I can contact the IRS in 2 business days. I was furious when I called later to speak with a supervisor all she had to say was that because it isn't tax season that they couldn't accept the deposit.

I then stated that they should of sent out a letter or some form of notification to the customers using the card. She said she agreed and that she will advise her supervisor for next year. I told her that I expect a call from corporate to discuss this issue, she put me on hold and then said I should expect a call in 2-3 business days that was Thursday the 26th still no call. I have contacted a lawyer about this matter as my fiance had to take a loan for 300.00 and I have to borrow money from my father to try to make our rent payment. The lawyer believes that anyone affected by this has a shot. I will be in touch with him tomorrow when I fax the terms and conditions of the card. Which I did not find anything stating that after tax season they would reject a deposit from the irs. I am going to take my money out of the account asap and use regions bank card. If anyone wishes to contact me about this please post to this comment.
