Second pay period. Last pay said my account was overdrawn 1500.00. Stated they were upgrading the system. This pay my direct deposit that hits the same time every Wednesday is not in my account. Nobody can tell me what happened. Claims because it's 2 am Pacific time that the deposit cannot post. WTF. My deposit slip has been posting for over a year at 4 am! As soon as this is resolved I'm filing a formal complaint. Absolutely ludicrous that my direct deposit can just disappear.

I am unable to reach a live person. I have been trying all day. I have not received my new card and there is a block on my card. I have sent two emails and no response. I get direct deposit and I need to speak to someone immediately. I need to clear this up. They told me on last week that I would received my new card and I haven't. I have money on my card and need to use it and I need this issue resolved.

I received a solicitation in the mail today from Walmart for their MoneyCard prepaid debit card. I thought it odd that it said "Here is the personalized card you ordered online," on the solicitation. I did NOT order a card. So, I googled "Walmart Money Card" and the reviews that popped up are horrifying! That this company is still actively ADVERTISING (I received the solicitation today 5/29) for new business while actively withholding funds from struggling, hardworking families is unfathomable, predatory, and disgusting. I vow to not set foot in Walmart again and will encourage others to abstain as well. I hope those families that are struggling due to these predatory practices are able to get quick resolution and some recompense for their experience.

My husband and I have been dealing with Walmart Money Card customer service reps for a week now. They told us on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 that they were doing a system update and by the end of the day when the update was finished, the $87.00 that was taken from our account would be returned. Walmart Money Card customer service reps requested we check our account again the following day. We allowed another 24 hours to pass, checking our account. The money had not been returned to us. We call back on Thursday, May 26 2016. Walmart Money Card customer service reps gave us the same story only now. They weren't sure when the money would be available due to system errors and glitches, that 1200 people had been affected by this error, and asked for our patience. We called again in Friday, May 27, 2016. They told us it should be fixed within one business day.
We called again today and a Walmart customer service rep tried to get us to say that we were disputing a charge and we had to fervently express NO... WE ARE NOT DISPUTING ANY CHARGES. Finally, the customer service rep said one hour and your funds will be available. She assured us that the funds would be back on our card (she used the term released) today. We hung up. We waited 6 hours and still no funds. We call back; We are told that Tuesday would be the day our funds would be released back on to our card due to the holiday weekend. This has set our family back and caused us to not be able to enjoy this holiday weekend the way we wanted to. If there is a lawsuit, we wish to be part of it. Please do contact us.

On May 20, 2016 my direct deposit was posted to my Wal-Mart Money Card. I went to Chase bank to withdraw 400.00; there was an additional 3.00 ATM surcharge bringing my withdrawal to 403.00. The maximum daily ATM withdrawal amount is 400.00, but I received two additional text alerts stating that I had withdrawn a total of 806.00. There was a third transaction in the amount of 403.00 that was declined. I immediately called customer service and sat on hold for almost an hour to be told that they were conducting a system update and they were aware of the multiple transactions. I was told to monitor my account to make sure that the additional 403.00 was placed back in my account.
In approximately three hours the money was returned to my account and I assumed all was well until today, one week later my account is showing 403.00 overdrawn because they are claiming that I had another 403.00 debit at Chase on the same day. I told them that it is impossible because the daily limit is only 400.00. I explained to the rep that it was their system that generated another withdrawal. On May 20th the day of the withdrawal when I pulled up my account online I could see all three transactions; today I can only see one 403.00 transaction which looks like an overdraft. I sat on the phone arguing with them to no avail. I was simply told to check my account to see if the account is corrected by May 31st; if not, I must file a dispute. I asked the rep. why should I have to dispute their mistake when clearly I could only take 400.00 out of the ATM in a 24 hour period.
I am truly frustrated and feeling scammed. Where did the other transactions go??? Why can you no longer see the actual account corrections that were made on the 20th after their system glitch. I believe that this is simply a way to attempt to defraud individuals. I will not be taken advantage of because I work too hard to just give away money when I can barely keep a roof over my head. I cannot wait to get to work on Tuesday to stop my direct deposit and most certainly I plan to file complaints with every and any agency that will listen if this is not corrected because I have bills set up on autopay. I can't believe that the government allows these companies to take advantage of low income individuals.

I would give this company zero stars if I could. It's been a very upsetting situation. I cannot make any transactions with my card. Tried to pay a few bill and does not let me pay. Says my card has been declined. I went to the Walmart store to see if it was maybe I could only make purchases at Walmart. Went to pay my items I had shopped for and my card was also declined even though I had requested the employee to try again, that I had funds. So he calls the customer service manager to see if he's doing something wrong and at this point she also could not get it to go through.
So I tell her I've been having trouble with card so I was hoping it worked at where I had purchased it and I was having the same problem. Then she tells if I called Walmart. I said yes. I can't seem to get any real person on the phone just an automated system that says "please stay on the line for the next available representatives" and been over 40 mins with no one to pickup. Or it just say "we're having technical difficulties please call back later" and hangs up. She didn't act surprise when I told her as if other customers had complained also. This was just throughout an embarrassing experience. First with my energy company TXU who could not process my payment. Then with my cable company Dish. Also at the mall and several stores. It's very upsetting this whole situation. Will never ever again be using this company.

I've been without use of my Walmart card for 7 days now. I've been told that the system was upgrading & it would be 3 hours before I would have access to my money. Mind you my husband & I were on vacation (18 hrs from home). We had limited cash money on us. 3 hrs later we still didn't have access. We had to borrow money from family members to get back home. From May 21 to presently I still cannot access my money. I've called several times to hear, "I apologize. I know you have bills to pay, but our technicians are working to fix the problem." Now our rent is due! A car payment and other bills!! What am I suppose to do. It's not my bill collector's problem that I can't pay my bills!! Why wasn't I notified of this issue. NO ONE SAID ANYTHING!! Now we're in a financial bind because of this and WALMART doesn't care!! WOW!! REALLY!!

Is been 3 weeks and not being able to use this card. I can not buy food, can't get no cash back, I can't purchase gas. My cellphone got cut off because they can't take the payment. I try a different ATM AND NOTHING. I call the (800) so many times and they give me the same story... If I'm using the card with my name on it ... systems is down. If it's the fist time it happen... and now... They told me I'm getting a new card in the mail because the one I have is not working properly... with the same number... That that make any sense. So I'm getting a new card with no money. And how am I suppose to transfer my money from a card that doesn't work. And the new card will take about 3 weeks. Who is hoping to pay my late fees.
They charge their fee and take it out with no problem. So they kept my money. Can't use it. Cant buy anything. And I'm getting a second useless card. I work so hard to earn that money. They just keep, say the same thing and nothing. Nothing is done!! I'm so mad because I can do anything get my money back. No one have call me to say something. Now I have to borrow money and that put me 600 + in the HOLE!

As of 5/16/2016 my Walmart Moneycard has not been working. I can't purchase via a store or the internet and cannot even take money out thru an ATM. I tried calling customer services while I waited at a pharmacy for my medication and could not get through. I wound up in the hospital for 3 days because I couldn't purchase my meds. During the entire time I couldn't get in touch with them. When calling their service line I was told via recording there was a systems upgrade and my card would be available shortly, then they hung up on me. It took 6 days for me to even get thru to a human. When I did the 'specialist' on the phone said they had problems with a systems upgrade but that my card was working. I was told there were no transactions on my card and no declined transactions at all. In fact, I had over 23 declined transactions.
Over the course of the next week I called EVERYDAY and was always told my card was fine but it wasn't. I started to get debited for cash withdrawals that were declined. When I told them that no money was given they argued with me until I produced the ATM receipt that said RESTRICTED CARD TRANSACTION DECLINED. As of today I still cannot access my money in any way, shape or form. The Walmart rep I spoke to today said they cannot know when this will be fixed. I asked what would happen on June 3rd when my social security would be deposited and I was told the money would go in the card but I won't be able to access it until they fix this problem. Then the rep told me that they were as upset as I was because they COULDN'T TAKE THEIR LUNCH BREAK due to all the irate customers calling in. Can you fathom that?
It's bad enough that they hardly speak a word of english and now I have to listen to the complaint about a missed lunch break when I can't access my money? I then asked what they would do when I'm evicted because I can't pay my rent or who would pay the hospital bills I incurred. And I was told by the rep that I just had to wait it out because there's nothing they can do! I also told one of the reps that I was a systems programmer for 25 years and I never heard of an upgrade as disastrous as this. And they told me that it's happened before as though that would make me feel better.
As of the writing of this review I still had no access to my money via any route, store, internet or ATM. And Walmart still didn't know when it would be fixed! This is by far the worst service I ever received from any company in the financial sector and the worst employed customer reps. They are not understandable, barely speak English, are rude, and don't solve any problems. Worst experience of my life with a card of any kind! Have had to call the local news to see if they could help. Will keep you posted.

I purchased gas at a Walmart gas station with a Walmart money card on 5-21. The charge for the gas went through. I went to check my balance on 5-23 and noticed a $100 pending charge. I called the customer service number. I was told it was a preauthorization for the gas purchase. When I told the rep that the charge for gas had already cleared, she told me it would be 10 days before the $100 goes back into my account. Now they are claiming this a problem because of updates to their system. Who spends 5 days or more updating and causing problems for consumers?
Per the Walmart money card legal info: "We will release any remaining amount when the transaction finally settles." My transaction was settled on 5-21. I have spoken to customer service at least 5 times. I have sent 5 messages on the website. I sent a message on Walmart's website. No one has reached out to me. I have gone to the Walmart where I purchased the gas. No satisfaction. I have always respected Walmart. Not so much now. I know most of it is not their fault. But, is their name on the card and gas station. They should try to correct this.
Updated on 05/28/2016: They finally took the $100 preauthorization off my card. But I got curious about what else they had messed up. I went over my online statement and found a $52.02 discrepancy. I called the help line to speak to a "specialist." She kept going back further than I had. After I got off the phone, with no satisfaction, I got curious again. I went back on my statement to where she was starting. I found another phantom deduction. So instead of $52 they owe me $114. So I guess I could say customer service actually helped me for once. Still very unhappy. It is going to take weeks to figure and of course that is their goal. Delay, delay, delay until you lose interest. I will not.

I have been using the Walmart money card for about two months now because my direct deposit comes Wednesday rather than Friday. On May 18 I got a deposit. Luckily I only use the account for the deposit only so I always immediately deposit the funds into my Wells Fargo account. Some pay periods I would leave it there but since they sent back my car payment as insufficient funds when there was more than enough money to cover the payment I decided to just keep taking my money off.
After I made the deposit at Wells Fargo there was $157 left on the card. I used it for a little gas and food and the next morning the balance was $0.00. They told me they were doing system upgrades and it would be fixed by May 21. It is May 26 and I still cannot access the funds that are left on the card and even have a negative balance. I contacted my job to have my direct deposit information changed and will contact HR again tomorrow to be sure they do not load my pay onto this card every again.
Although it may be a 1 time occurrence it is not a chance I'm willing to take with an entire paycheck being lost in space. Up until now I had had no trouble with the card and getting paid 2 days sooner was definitely a perk but after this I must say my goodbyes to the Walmart money card. I am afraid of being out of town and suddenly not having any money or something. I have two little toddlers so things like this are unacceptable.

I wish there was a zero star rating I could check because these people don't deserve a star or another dime of mine or a dime from anyone I know. I used Wal-Mart MoneyCard in the past but let it go due to the horrible service & them shutting my card off 2 times, stating the reason as "suspicious activity" around a major holiday leaving me with no money & almost homeless the last time they pulled this stunt. They seem to always do this type of dirt around major holidays and as soon as the direct deposit hits from your employer. Then, they can never give you information on the "suspicious activity" they're speaking of. They just shut your card down when they get ready and do as they please.
The first time they shut my card off was around Memorial Day, they admitted their mistake and Fed-Ex'd me another card. The next time was around Mother's Day and they made me wait for nearly 10 days before I could access my own hard-earned money. That was it for me but now, my husband is also having the exact same issue with his Wal-Mart MoneyCard and all they can say, at this third world call center that Wal-Mart uses, is "We have sent out a card free of charge and it will arrive in 7-10 business days" but we have bills to pay & here we are coming up on a major holiday and the runaround from them is worse than ever.
After we waited on hold for more than 45 mins., a rep using the stage name Warren can only read from a script and continue to say, "There's nothing we can do, you have to wait for the card to arrive in the mail." Regular mail I might add. I'm so sick of Wal-Mart and all of their bad service, I not only let my card go with them, but I stopped shopping at their stores and cancelled my Sam's membership as well because their service in all areas is just plain BAD & I refuse to give another dime of my money to any of their establishments. I also stopped recommending their card to anyone I know because I would never wish the experience I've had and now my husband is having on anyone... Except the "powers that be" at Wal-Mart and the mask they hide behind called Green Dot.

My account balance started fluctuating drastically the DAY they started the so called system update. I set my car payment to pull from my account the Friday before the update started. Since my balance is now NEGATIVE when I know I have money that should be in there my car payment is stuck somewhere in limbo between my account and the finance company.
Back in January I had two surgeries and fell behind on my car payment. In order to keep my car I had SPECIFIC payment arrangements set up and paying the payment that Friday would of got the payment there days before due. Yesterday my car was Repo'd at work. I've called many times and have gotten the same response from everyone at the Walmart Money Card customer service: "We understand your frustration, no there is no resolution date, there is nothing we can do". On May 18th I made a purchase for $23 something and all seemed good with a remaining balance of $199.25 which is more than enough to get me to my next pay day and maybe have some left (I'm not a big spender outside of gas, food and maybe some beer). Well I go to the store the next morning and my card was declined (WTF). I go home and check online and the left side does show that I indeed had $199.25 but in the upper right corner it says -.75. I call Customer service and they said "Yes we can see that." It is due to issues that they are having with their updates to their system and to please be patient. "We have no set time to when the updates will be finished. Just please be patient and continue to monitor your account online. We are working as quickly as possible to get this resolve."
I figure okay, every system has a glitch every now and then. I just wait a few hours or so and it should be resolve. I was never so wrong. It's only gotten worse since then. I called the next day and was told the same thing. "Yes we the problem and are working quickly to resolve it. Please be patient and continue to monitor your account online." Well it now been 7 days and I get the same thing every time I call. Except yesterday when a customer service rep. tried to tell me that yes my balance is really -3.75 (yeah it went up all on its own from -.75). I check again this morning and it now telling me I'm -$59.36. And on top of that they have completely removed my transaction history.
So now if I want to dispute it I have to rely on what they're telling me? Luckily I had the foresight to print my transaction history the very first night and twice after that as the transaction history has changed multiple time with different dates and transaction amounts etc. etc. It looks to me like they are moving transaction dates and amounts around to get the results they want. Someone there is seriously trying to manipulate the numbers and dates to make this go away without returning their customers' missing money.

Last Monday I noticed my accounts were not where they should be balance-wise. I called and was told the "system update" was causing some issues and it would be fixed ASAP. It is now 10 days with no access to my entire paycheck. I was promised my account would have my money on Tuesday this week and it was another lie. What kind of company do they have doing their update? I know Walmart can afford to fix our accounts and work out the rest later. Instead they are causing people to miss bills like rent, electric, gas for work, food, daycare. People have probably lost their apartment or job by now. If I missed 10 days of work I would be fired. Luckily I just ran out of my emergency money yesterday. Day one not being able to go to work. Please pray they fix this fast and reimburse the late fees for the bills I couldn't pay. All I can say is SHOP LOCAL and SMALL BUSINESSES. They care about their customers.

They resolved it for me at their inside banking office
Original Review: May 25, 2016
On 5/18/16 I purchased two $50 Walmart Visa debit cards for two graduates. They wisely refused the cards so I took them back to Walmart at 174 cypress point pkwy, Palm coast, fl 32164. They refused refund and told me to call 866-633-9096. The lady told me she could not refund the money unless I had the credit card numbers so I told her I would call her back. I opened both card packages and got the credit card numbers ready and called back. She then referred me to a recorded message which said they do not refund for the cards. I called the Walmart store and asked for a manager and she said the sales clerk should have told me there was no refund on these cards. I considered registering the cards and just spending the money but the cards are like quick sand; once in you can't get out. Walmart has always had a policy of refunds but this time I have been conned out of $102.00 dollars.

Few days later of checking the balance finally had some in there and got some gas. The next day went to take out some rent payments and my account was negative 200 dollars when it should have been at least 200 dollars in it. Can't get a hold of anyone now because there is a bunch of 34-42 dollars charges on my account from Wal-Mart's in different cities that I don't go to. I made 2 transactions. One on 5/16 and one on 5/19. They held different amounts on my card along with processing the transaction actual amounts. My balance shows that the money that was held was not available to me, but held and they reduced my balance. One of the holds was released today but my balance doesn't reflect the release of the funds. This is not the first time this has happened. When it happened before the merchant said they never held the money. I called customer support. They said the merchant did hold the money, but it's not normal for my cell phone company to hold funds, they simply take your payment and that's it.
After complaining during multiple phone calls that the merchant is not holding the money and asking for it to be released the transaction "hold" was released as if it never happened and the balance didn't reflect the hold amount. I called back and customer support tells me that the money was never held and that they didn't see it in my transaction history as ever being held. I didn't screenshot my account when it showed the hold so I couldn't send in proof and they got away with it. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because I've used this card for the past 9 years but it's happened again with the recent 2 transactions - hold amounts totaling $133.54. They gave me the same lame excuse so as of today I've cancelled the card. I am reporting it to the BBB and if need be the attorney general because this is so unacceptable. Walmart acts as they don't care and keep telling me to check online every day. They tell me the system OS updating and don't know when it will be back up.
I also have direct deposit and was just told that when my hard earned money is dropped into my account I will still not be able to use my card. Said I ordered a new card which I didn't so my expiration date was wrong. New card came still can't use it. Called back numerous times in past week and they just apologize and say keep trying it. Then I finally got someone to admit that their system was messed up and there nothing they can do. I'm a single mother and I live paycheck to paycheck. I cannot buy gas or pay my bills.
I have to borrow money with interest when I can pay back. This has put me so far behind. I just talked to them. Supposedly they will send me a check for my remaining balance but it will take two weeks. With no compensation, this has caused so many issues that I have worked so hard to get caught up!! Got my tax return and noticed my old Walmart money card was about to expire, so I load my return onto a new Walmart money card. After making a 40 purchase of gas for my car, I go to a bar. Try to use the ATM and it says, "Withdraw limit has been reached." I have never, EVER had a withdraw limit on ANY debit card in my life. So I run it again..."Unauthorized access." Call the number on the back of the card -- I'm put on hold for 2 hours. When I finally get to somebody, they put me on hold again to connect to a "supervisor."
After 6 hours of my phone running, I'm finally at home and someone answers. Tells me their "system was updating and sorry for the wait." SINCE WHEN DOES IT TAKE 6 HOURS FOR A SYSTEM TO UPDATE??? Tell me they didn't do anything and that Visa shut down my debit card due to "suspicious charges," charges that I made with MY own debit card. Says there's nothing they can do until my permanent card comes in the mail... really? So now I basically have no money till my personal card gets here so that I can withdraw all my money away from this piece of ** company. I have two problems, and I can't even talk to anyone about them. First, I call the 877 number to get my account balance, I get "Your account is active and your card is ready for use." To add further insult, I'm told to dial the 877 number that I just called in order to get my account balance. The card has been active for over a year, so why the system thinks I need to know that I can use the card is beyond me. What I need is an account balance, or to be able to talk to a live person so that I can get an account balance while I'm away from my computer. I tried many different strategies to get some help - with some card companies if you mess up the entry too many times you're automatically referred to a live person - but no luck.
Once I got to a computer (unlike the other reviewers) I have an unanticipated credit on my account. I have no clue why Circle-K would be refunding me $96.00. My account shows that I have only spent $35.00 with them in the last six months. I would like to contact Wal-Mart Money Card and clear this up, but all I can get is the same message - my account is active and the card is ready for use. I've gone to the Wal-Mart store hoping that they could put me in touch with the right people, but they can't. They have the same contact information that has me running in circles. This is the cheapest pre-paid card service that I can find, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Used my card May 15/16 with no problem. Next morning decided to get gas and card was declined. Called customer service but was unable to speak to a actual person and continued getting that stupid "system upgrading" bull crap, plus system kept saying card number was inaccurate. Tried checking balance through text by phone feature but the amount continued to change from one amount to another. So this goes on for 4 days. Mind you I am a single mother of four with a NEWBORN BABY! Yes. Unable to purchase diapers, food, clothing, formula, gas, prescription medications and anything else my family needed. After calling the credit card line and my local Walmart store I was finally given a number that allowed me to speak to someone. I called the Walmart consumer complaints line.
CS Rep. informed me that my card had been cancelled and a new one had been mailed due to an unauthorized transaction claim with Microsoft that I had made days ago. I told the rep from the Dept that I DID NOT want to cancel my card because I wanted to speak with Microsoft about the purchases and that IF I had any problems with Microsoft I would call back because I was sure MS would solve the problem plus I refused to wait 2 weeks for another card when I had 4 children plus daily expenses. She told me that routing and account numbers would be the same so I could just get another prepaid card and transfer funds. I still refused. She did anyway without my knowledge or permission!
Tried to go online to pull up account info but couldn't because website says username is incorrect but it wasn't. I tried using the I forgot my username option but that was a dead end since my current card was cancelled and the card number is required to change username, which I have. If anyone because current card is no good and I can't retrieve the numbers from my new card since I HAVEN'T RECEIVED IT! IDIOTS. So now I am unable to pay my rent, insurance, utility, etc. I told the Consumer complaints rep that I would be evicted if I can't make my rent and with 4 children, and of course, you guessed it; she couldn't help me with that either. They are definitely 100% lying. We have OVER 600 people in our group currently so the "less than 100 people" is total BS. Problems because of this issue: Children not getting medication, people facing eviction because they can't pay their rent, people facing losing their jobs because they can't get money for gas, people having utilities shut off because the bill payment declines, people going without food trying to find local food banks, and the list goes on and on. This is so unacceptable.
The company needs to tell the TRUTH about what is going on. Two have even mentioned that now their social security numbers have been changed on their cards! This is more than a "system upgrade" gone wrong... Our personal information is now compromised totally. I will NEVER recommend or use this card company again. Green Dot's stock has already dropped by 1% and it's only going to get worse as people step forward with their stories. Currently there are attorney's helping us to get class action lawsuits against Green Dot and possibly Wal-mart.
The fact that people have been unable to access their money since as early as Sunday night ADDED to the fact that balance information is wrong, transactions are being up to triple charged, dates are being changed on transactions, and personal information is compromised is MORE than enough information to push these people out of business!

So, I have had Wal-Mart Money Card for over a year now due to my stupidity with regular banks over the past 5 years. Today May 20th, 2016 was the first time I have EVER had a problem with this card. This morning I paid my cell phone bill $150 and withdrew $100. When I went to pay my credit card for the amount of $360 I was told by Capital One my card was declined. I said, "Oh wait a second, there is no way. I literally just got paid today." I have well over X amount of money. Easily enough to pay a 360 dollar credit card bill.
I login to my Wal-Mart Money Card account and all of a sudden I am missing over 600 dollars. I look at the transactions, I was debited 3 times for my cell phone payment along with my withdraw of 100 dollars from the ATM. I called the customer service. Wasn't on hold for that long. 15 minutes. I was told by the person on the other end we are having our technical team look into the matter. No problem. I don't know about you but why would someone pay their cell phone bill 3 times or take out money from the ATM 3 times in a row. It should be quite obvious that this is an error on their end. I PRAY they weren't hacked! My only hope.
Going to wait until Tuesday, May 25th before I contact the local news or a lawyer. It seems like reading through all the reviews a lot of people are having issues with this card right now. When trying to log back on again 30 minutes after getting off the phone.. All my transactions history was "currently unavailable". This might be their technical team fixing this issue. I HOPE.
I have cash and no bills due at all this week so I am fine with them on the process of doing what they have to do. Thank goodness this wasn't next weekend which is Memorial Day weekend. Planning on possibly spending quite a bit of money on a weekend trip to amusement parks, crabs, all that good stuff. So right now I can not bash this card because things do happen. NOTHING IS PERFECT in this world. So, right now they get a 3 out of 5 due to this issue but will bump up to a 5 if/when the problem is resolved.

Now, let me state, I know that some of these random cards use holds. However, up until this point I have been reimbursed immediately after the actual transaction posts (approx. 24 hours). I called to find out if this needed a dispute b/c it didn't specify fuel until I called to complain. Now it all begins... CS Rep #1 - Told me that I definitely needed to speak to a specialist to dispute so she put me on hold 40 MINUTES LATER... CS Rep #2 - Told me that it was a fuel hold and I wouldn't get it back for another week!!! At this point I am completely infuriated and ask to speak to a Supervisor. She argued with me for about 10-15 minutes about how it wouldn't matter, no one would fix it.
Supervisor (or so I was told) - Same scenario as CS #2 EXCEPT he told me that he would need to file a dispute if this was an unauthorized transaction (Too many people with different stories). So, unconcerned that they have left me with no money in my account, I was still getting a BS runaround from this guy who swears he is the ONLY person that I can talk to and refuses to transfer my call. So, I hang up and send a lovely email requesting assistance (mainly because I've done CS and the BS is nothing new) and I will be contacting Corporate (assuming that is an actual thing) and continuing the saga of more disappointment from Wal-Mart as well as its untrustworthy products. I ask for a supervisor, all she could say "it's not possible" then hung up on me. Way to go Walmart. That's how you train your employees to be **.

Not because I don't have the money but because WAL-MART WON'T LET ME ACCESS MY OWN MONEY TO PAY MY BILLS. To boot, they will not tell us what the heck is going on. After I refreshed my internet page I tried to finish the activation process but couldn't because it said that my card was already activated. I have a small pension direct deposited to my card. Each month I am charged the monthly fee, even though all of the documentation states that the monthly fee will be waived if I "reload $500 OR a direct deposit of a government or payroll check". Calls to customer service have been very difficult, to say the least. Apparently none of the CSRs know the difference between the words AND/OR, yet continue to tell me I'm wrong, or that what I was reading from their website/documentation/app was not correct. Some of the reps have even gone so far as to lie to me. It got so bad that a few months ago I told them I would call back every month until they either stopped charging me the fee or change the verbiage. I've intentionally sat on hold for over two hours until I either spoke with a supervisor or was guaranteed a call back (the CSR eventually hung up. I called right back).
I'm retired, and can afford an hour or so once a month to get resolution. It's been five months now. I wonder how many other people they are ripping off. Emailing customer support has not been much better. I always contact them through the same thread. My last email to them included a screen shot from their app. The response? "Call customer service." On 4/27/2016 I checked my bank account that morning and all was fine. I then went to Hobby Lobby and forgot the amount, so that evening I logged to see what amount was that I had spent at Hobby Lobby... and there were charges from GRUBHUB, Starbucks Card, and Celebrity Inn at which these were not my authorized charges so I called the number on that card. Was told that they had already blocked my card without my knowledge, that I would have to wait for 2 to 3 weeks for a new card. I told the representative this was unacceptable and that it needed to be overnighted to me because my payroll is direct deposited and that that is all the money I have. The representative was rude and told me that, "Well, I can send express but it will cost you 15.00" so I agreed. He said I would get new card in 5 days.
Well on the 4th I still had not received and my payroll was deposited so I have been without money since the 27th so I call and was told once again that no way could a card be overnighted so I told that Philippine person who you can't understand that that was not acceptable and that I needed it overnight. I have bills due and I get charged late fees when not paid on time. These are the most uncaring people I have ever seen or talked to. First of all it takes forever to get to finally talk to someone and when you do it is in the Philippines. Come on. I purchased this card in Missouri in America and I have to talk overseas when I have problem with it... so anyway when I checked to mail last night when I got home from work there was the card... so I called and activated it but this morning I went in and purchased gas and guess WHAT? Card DECLINED.
Luckily the clerk at the station knows me and she paid for my gas so I wouldn't get in trouble with the LAW. So I tried for 40 minutes to get to talk to someone on the phone. Every time I called it asked for my card number. When I would put the new number in it said not a valid number. When I put my old number in it said account was blocked. NOWHERE IN THE RECORDING DOES IT GIVE YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE AND DON'T EVEN remember how I finally did get someone. Finally after 7 calls I figured out how to talk to someone. The card that I received last night was are you ready for this, FROZEN because they have sent out a new one and I will just have to wait for that card. First of all, what kinds of bank does not send out cards overnight when it is their fault? Because they sent a new one they have FROZEN the new one I got last night... and they cannot reactivate.
THIS IS BULL CRAP. I will be contacting the Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau and filing a CLASS ACTION. I was told this morning that there was nothing I could do when I asked to be transferred to someone in the UNITED STATES because there is FEDERAL LAW that if a foreign company does business in the UNITED STATES that they have to transfer you to someone in the United States when you asked them to. Instead I was told that there was no one in the United States. Really? Because Green Dot bank is in the United States. I was also told by the lady at least 15 times to call the number on the back of my card. Duh. That is what I called and got her.
She finally after at least 25 minutes transferred to someone else. His name was Ray, at least I could understand him and he explained that I could have my money transferred to another Walmart Card Account... so I was instructed to go and get another Walmart Money Card and then go online and have my money transferred to that account. I cannot tell you how upset I am that I have to purchased another Walmart Money Card at my expense and hopefully have my money transferred. I DO NOT FEEL THIS IS ACCEPTABLE.
So far during the numerous calls I have made to the customer service number on the back of the card these are JUST some of the responses I have gotten: "Well, can't you borrow money from someone?" "Do you have another Walmart Money Card?" "We do not have anyone in the United States." "There is no Supervisor available." THEY ARE MANY, MANY MORE BUT TOO NUMEROUS TO MENTION. GREEN DOT BANK, why are you allowing such poor customer service and why do you have people in the Philippines handling phone calls for us in the USA when we purchased our cards in the USA? This is totally unacceptable. No wonder America is in the shape it is in.
I AM ASKING THAT YOU PLEASE GET THIS MATTER HANDLED IMMEDIATELY AND MAKE MY ACCESSIBLE TO ME. I have had a Walmart money card for 5 years now and this is how you treat your customers? I am reporting this like I said before to the Attorney General, FDIC, Better Business Bureau and filing a class action claim. I expect someone to call me at and get the matter taken care within the next two hours today 05/06/2016. Thank you.

I told her that I did not want to happen because I know that this will take 7-10 business days. I will try to find the card and I will call back if I needed to report the card lost/stolen. We proceed to talk and she says to me "would you like for me to report your card lost/stolen." I told her NO. She proceeds to disable my card anyway. I asked to speak with her supervisor. My question is this. If the customer did not want to report my card lost/stolen, what gives the customer service representatives the right to. I called again and no one can seem to answer my question. This is the most horrible experience I ever had to deal with. No one cares about what the customer wants. First of all let me say I have used this card for yrs. with little or no incident. If a problem arose it taken care of right away with total professionalism. In April of this yr all that went down the drain. To start with, my statement showed a negative balance and they deducted the negative balance from my direct deposit. There is no negative balance on a Walmart MoneyCard. If the funds aren't there, the transaction doesn't get approved. One phone call took care of that. I stayed on the phone with the supervisor until he found the mistake. Mind you by this time I was no longer showing a negative balance at the time of the deposit, yet $140 and change was subtracted from my deposit. That was fixed and I was told it would take two days to reflect the bal. on my statement. I waited 2 days and went to check my bal. and found another error. Two separate payments were showing as purchase and pending again in the amount of $140 something and change.
I called again. After going around and around getting passed from this person to that person someone finally understood what I was saying... I had double deductions on 2 transactions. He erased the pending charges as they were also showing as purchase. I hung up and immediately called in my phone bill. It went through this time. The very next day I tried to use my card and it was declined again. So I pull up my statement again. The balance is right, my attempted purchase did not exceed the balance. Once again I'm on the phone with customer service. GET THIS... my acct. had been frozen because I had a credit of $176 something PENDING. How does a pending credit affect my available balance? I tried to explain to them I didn't have a credit due, they had already credited my acct for that amount. This time I had to wait 2 wks before they unfroze my card.
This month again my statement shows a pending and a purchase on the same transaction. I went round and round with them. The best I got was I would have to wait 2 wks for the issue to be taken care of. They tried to tell me the company had double billed me and I would have to wait 'til the next statement for my acct to be credited. I tried to find a # for the Green Dot bank, Walmart MoneyCard, the only # listed is the customer service in the Philippines. The corporate office has a PO address where you write to them in Pasadena. Why is customer service in the Philippines? Feeling thoroughly frustrated I call the co. that supposedly double billed me. Of course they didn't double bill me, I knew that. So they took all the info for their supervisor and he took care of it. Evidently, you know they weren't happy at being accused of doing something they didn't do.
So a bit later I call customer service again. I informed them that I called the company they had billed me 1 time. Lo and behold they erased the pending transaction and the balance will reflect tomorrow. These people are doing something really illegal and using our money to do it. I have made copies of their "accounting errors" and sending copies to corporate office and any other organization that will investigate them. I'm hesitant to close the acct simply because I've used this card for so long. This 2 months is way out of the ordinary for my experience with them. I'll wait one more month and if I have trouble again I'll have to undo my direct deposit and cancel the act.

I have been using my Wal-Mart moneycard for two years to pay bills online/make online purchases. Back in the second week of March I uploaded 300+ dollars to pay my internet and car insurance. I thought everything was fine until I got an email explaining my payments were declined. I logged into my account and saw there was a hold for suspicious activity.
When I called the customer service they explained to me that this random hold is because I wasn't using the replacement card they sent me. I never requested one. I asked when they sent it and they told me the summer of 2014! I explained that was years ago and I don't recall ever receiving another card. She told me that in order to access my funds she would send me a new card and I would have to wait 10 business days (2 weeks) for it to come in the mail. I was frustrated but I accepted. I logged into my account afterward and saw that the status of my card changed from a regular card block to "card reported stolen" and that I needed a new account number and was not allowed to access my funds. I called and asked why since I never said it was stolen and they said "it would not affect anything" and that everything was fine.
I waited the two full weeks. Multiple employees told me the latest I would receive the card was April 5th. I called on the 6th and spoke with a rep who in fact told me she saw a mistake on their end and it may have caused them to not even send the card out. She told me to expect a call from a supervisor within the next two businesses days. I waited and never received a call. I called back on the 3rd business day and talked to a rep who not only continuously looked for reasons to try to hang up on me but explained that there was no notes on my account about what I called in for multiple times and nothing stating a supervisor was supposed to call me. He swore up and down they sent me that debit card and eventually transferred me to the automated system when he got sick of me asking questions.
I called probably 6 times that day with no help. I eventually got told that they have nothing they can do but send me another card. It's now been exactly 10 business days from the second card being sent and I still haven't received it. I called their customer service today and she just kept telling me she would research it (yeah right) and to wait until end of business day today and if I don't receive it to call back. I asked her what they would do any differently tomorrow than today and she could not even give me a straight answer. I asked if there was a way of transferring my balance to another card, showing proof of ID or closing out my account and getting my balance sent to me in check form and got a "No sorry. You will just have to wait for the card." as a response to everything.
They've also explained to me they have no tracking on these cards they're "sending". I have never been so frustrated in my life and would never recommend this product to anyone. By other reviews it looks to me as they are trying to keep everyone's funds to create loans for themselves because they're sinking. They are stealing from us and I am so close to filing a lawsuit.

On April 21st my Green Dot banking card, thru Walmart was frozen due to a creditor levy. The levy amount is $162, total balance in my Account is $601. As of today, 4/26, my entire account is still frozen. I have requested that a Corporate Supervisor call me back and was told that would be within two business days, that still has not happened. I have been in contact with the creditor and it's ironic that they have been going up and beyond to try and help me get this resolved, while the bank, that I have used for direct deposit for almost two years now, could care less about me. When you call customer service all you get is employees that speak broken English, do not understand banking laws, and all they keep saying is "I'm sorry!!!"
They keep telling me that they need a letter of Indemnity from the creditor to unfreeze my account, however, no one with Green Dot has contacted the creditor to tell them that. And the Creditor has said they do not and will not send that type of letter. And when I tell Green Dot that, they just keep telling me that I have to get them to do it. So you're telling someone, whose bank acct is being levied that he has to call the creditor? Green Dot received a court order to levy my account in only the amount shown and pay the creditor, but they refuse to do so. My creditor has tried to call Green Dot, but no one will talk to her because she does not have a customer account. And when I ask for a different phone number for the creditor to call, Green Dot refuses to give me one.
If you are considering Green Dot, be very cautious. If you run into any sort of issues, no one that works shows any desire to help or resolve your issue. It is the worst Customer Service for a banking institute that I have ever seen. And also, I was told by their rep, that they do not have to follow normal banking rules. Can someone please help!!!

Hello. On 4/17 my husband put money on a Walmart money card to pay the phone bill. Well I went online and paid it or so I thought. On Friday I got a text message from AT&T saying that they hadn't received my payment and would be shutting my service off. I immediately called the card and looked up the transactions online and it said AT&T had the money but they didn't. I called AT&T and the rep told me that the payment was voided. I then called the card and spoke with a rep from there and they told me that the payment is pending. I said "where is my money?" I'm livid. They told me it won't be back on my card till the 28th. Such crap. "It better be back on there", that's all I have to say. I even called AT&T while I was on the phone with the Walmart money card. You ask for a supervisor and you get nowhere. The rep is in the Philippines. They don't care if you get your money or not. I will NEVER use this card to pay bills again.

I recently deposited $177 and had a refund of $49 to my Walmart Money Card. I checked my balance on to see that both transactions had been credited to my account. When I went to use my card it said "Declined". After re-checking my balance online, my available balance show the deposits are available. I called customer service at 877-937-4098 and was told that they had blocked my account due the fact that 5 pin numbers had been attempted on my card. I said "well I know my PIN# so can you please release my funds?" They asked for my date of birth and I told them. They said that was not the correct date, and they will keep the block on the card indefinitely. I offered to send a copy of my birth certificate and social security # to prove I am the cardholder. They said it did not matter.
I said, "Then terminate the card and mail my balance to me," and they said no. I said, "Well, you can't just keep my money." They said, "We can and we are," and told me that no matter how many times I call, they will not refund my money nor release the block. They also will not give me any information further. I am astounded that after just making a deposit to pay my bills online, Walmart has stolen my deposits and I have no recourse. I now will have to hire a law firm to help me sue Walmart to resolve this matter.

I purchased a Walmart debit card from Walmart in Covington Louisiana in 2015. A few days ago I called my card to check the balance to see if eBay had refunded me money for an item I sent back. Well there was no money in the account and it was negative 299.14. Having a debit card it would be impossible to overdraft. I was told the beginning of January is when it was overdrafted which is a lie because the beginning of February is when I got my income tax and put it on that card. After the money was spent I didn't use it for 2 months, I checked my card yesterday and it was negative 299.14 and it said on March fourth is when the money taken off. I called Walmart customer service and have been jerked around. I'm not paying for something that they had to of done! Only Walmart can control those cards. I want to retrieve funds for some things I had to take care of and was alarmed to see there was insufficient funds and to try a smaller amount. I called and was lied to saying a dispute would be filed and I would be refunded by the 13th. None of which took place. I called again to find out my dispute status to find nothing had been done nor my account refunded and was told I have to wait 10 more days before I would even find out if my funds would be put back.
The transactions took place in Philadelphia and I live in Wyoming so it's a given I can't be at 2 arm's at once and all I get is "I'm sorry" and "you have to wait". Don't EVER use this bank nor trust them. I am taking legal action against them because this has happened a few times and every time it's the same. When I got the new card, I took out ALL remaining funds and closed that account also. When my dispute with the vendor who charged my card was resolved by me directly with the vendor, a credit was issued to the original WMC account. I called GDB DBA WMC to get the money from my credit. I've been fighting with GDB for over 3 weeks now, still don't have my money. Was told today that the USPS takes 2 weeks to deliver checks even when letters are delivered in 2 days. It took almost a week and threat of litigation for Green Dot Bank to acknowledge and admit that they had the credit issued to me from the vendor.

The problems are as follows: With a $1000 minimum monthly deposit, there is not supposed to be any fee to use the card. This is in the terms and conditions. They are charging that $3 fee per month anyway. Which means at this point, I have given Walmart no less than $100 in fees over the past 3 years. Every time I call and complain, I am given a runaround and no resolution.
They are not supposed to charge you $3 to cash your paycheck and then $3 to load the card. They are supposed to charge you NOTHING to put your check on their card. So that's another $6 a month. They are being awful sneaky in first cashing the check and second depositing it, putting an extra $6 per transaction (times millions of users) into the pockets of the Waltons. I can pull up my online statement, print it out, and prove that I am being charged incorrectly, yet they will not do anything to reverse the fees.
$9 a month in fees for the past 4 years. I held up my end of the card agreement, why don't they have to? Has this happened to anyone else? I would be DELIGHTED to participate in a lawsuit pertaining to this. ALL of us can pull up our accounts and I'm sure many of us can PROVE that we are being charged incorrectly. This time they had caught the mistake and did not pay out the bogus charge on my card which was great, but when they sent me my new card which takes 3 weeks to receive this card, they send it to the wrong address. Now I can either wait 3 more weeks for me to be able to use my account or pay $16 in fees so they can send it to me within 8 to 10 days. My account and money has been locked up for about 40 days by the time my card actually gets to me. The people that talk to you on the telephone have such a hard accent it is very hard to understand what they are saying. They are blaming me for the address change which I have not ever moved 4 years before I had a card with these people.
Beware if you do business with these people and your card is ever compromised or lose it. I've had a Walmart card for years. Whenever I want to shop online or pay certain bills I use it. Never had a problem. Unfortunately this prepaid card access a negative balance. I opened a bank account that I enjoyed some security perks. So, I didn't use my card for over a year. Mmmm, well I got the bright idea to pay my son's phone bill with it cause I had cash and don't feel like stopping at the bank on my way home. So for convenience I loaded it with the opposite amount. Well when I paid the bill it kept saying "insufficient funds". What in the world is going on I know there's money on it? Called and checked, there was six dollars missing, just enough to cause insufficient funds. After I called the customer service line I found out they incur a negative balance for fees. OK. I guess I can see fees bit after a year? They should have just canceled the card. Why keep a card with them when you have to pay a fee to load it and a fee to keep it.
I'd rather just buy a new card every time I need to use it. And not being able to inform me at the register on a negative balance seems dishonest. Because I asked if it had any on it at the register, I thought I might have left a few dollars on it. Now I'm stuck at the house in the middle of night can't run up there to put six dollars plus another three for the loading charge to make the payment complete. So crappy. I will advocate to anyone if they have to use one just use like it's disposable and buy one each time. No need to be fair to a company that isn't fair to its clients. Also when I called to complain instead of putting the six dollars back on the card as a courtesy to a long standing customer to keep them, they just told me over and over "I'm sorry ma'am that's our fees." Wow lost a good customer of many years for six bucks. Good job Walmart. Y'all may be big but all big strong kingdoms fall hard without the loyalty of their patrons.

They cost me my license which is now gonna cost me a $100 reinstated fee because I couldn't use my money to pay my tickets in time. I had to do without groceries for the remaining of the week. They put a block on my card and you think these people care? No... And good luck getting any help.

Beware before you deposit tax refund. The next day after I had my tax refund deposited into Walmart MoneyCard they blocked my card. When I called they told me to upload my ID. I did that and they told me 2 business days. It has been over a week and when I call they are rude and hang up on me or transfer me to an automated system. Please do not have your tax refund deposited into Walmart, you will be sorry. I am going to seek legal counsel because I have no idea what else to do...they won't talk when I call. I wish I would have read the reviews first. This has put me in a financial bind. Lesson learned.

Today 2-26-2016, I got an email saying my account had 'suspicious activities and they blocked my card for my protection'. I called Walmart MoneyCard 3 different times with the number on the back of the card and talked to a Rhea, Rebecca, and Liberty. Every single one of them said the same thing. They cancelled my card for 'protection', and they would send me a new card but I'd have to wait 2 weeks until I could access any of my money. When I'd asked to talk to a supervisor, again every one of them said "I am the supervisor, I'm the only one, there is no one above that you can speak with", and also they "didn't have the capability to transfer my call".
One of the girls finally told me she was based out of Asia and didn't have the access to any American located office info but she'd take my information and the American CEO office would get back to me in 2 business days. (She legit just told me they didn't have their info.:'/) Then she said I could get all my money in 2 to 3 business days if I go buy another Walmart MoneyCard and transfer all my funds to a temporary card but I'd still only have debt card access and I wouldn't get any cash access until my replacement card came (2 weeks). When I asked her "How was I supposed to pay for a new card when you froze my money?", she told me "I know your frustrations but unfortunately there's nothing I can do, we are only trying to protect you". This is definitely shady business practice and more than likely illegal. I am going to bet money that this is a huge scam. (Well if and when my new card comes in the mail.)

You have RIGHTS! Has Green Dot placed a hold on your account limiting access to your funds? Has Green Dot ignored your request to have the HOLD REMOVED after you've complied? I will show you how to get your money back! Well I can most certainly understand your frustration! I have been a Walmart Money prepaid card holder for 1 year. Now after my refunds hit my account, instantly a freeze is placed on my account. They are requiring you to verify your identity via webcam using Netverify.
However, not everyone owns a webcam. I have uploaded a valid copy of my identification card via the Netverify document upload center page. The instructions say the review will conclude within 2 days. However, 5 business days has passed and the hold still remains. Green Dot's customer service number provides no representative that can help you. No one returns any calls as promised. THAT'S WHAT MAKES THIS AN IMPROPER HOLD. If Walmart Money Card/Green Dot has placed an improper hold or freeze on your account restricting you from accessing your funds, I urge you to file a complaint with their regulators now! Do it today. Start Here: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/.
How will this help? Well, Green Dot will be required to respond to your complaint with an explanation within a specific time frame. Your voice will get heard and things will get moving. To be licensed to do business, Green Dot must abide by certain laws. They don't want to look bad to their regulators. Also, having so many complaints for the same issue does not look good for them. They'll have to explain why they're holding your money. Most likely, someone from Green Dot will be notifying you with an update on your released funds. PayPal has recently been hit with a class action lawsuit for freezing accounts. Who knows? Maybe Green Dot will be next. Green Dot is a dishonest company. Did you know they were sued for violating the Securities Exchange Act of 1934? Shame on them.

I have had this card for almost 5 years and never had a problem. I have always received my taxes by direct deposit and even get my paycheck deposited as well. This year they have blocked my card for "suspicious activity" but won't let me confirm or deny the activity, I couldn't get in touch with a live person, I had to lie my way through the system to get someone, who then said a supervisor would call me back in 2-3 business days. They refused to transfer me because I was "escalating the situation". I'm sure if they had $5k of their money being held, they would be escalated too. It is a crock, and I believe it's a way for them to collect interest. I will be pulling my money off when they become available and will be going to an actual bank.

So I called Walmart corporate at 1-800-walmart, I finally got answers and she had me resubmit my photos and within 5 min. my money was released!! She said the picture has to be clear, close up with all four sides showing, no shadows, and have it laying on a flat surface. I had someone shine the light on his phone on the ID so it was bright. They decided to lower my credit limit without my knowledge! I would have never ever paid so much toward a credit card if I would have known I wouldn't have any available credit left. I was counting on using the money for my baby but instead they hurt my credit and put me in debt! They do illegal **. I AM TAKING THEM TO COURT! You are not allowed to lower someone's credit and put them in debt and not even notify them!
I paid at least 150 every month before my payment was even due! They now owe me and I will not let this go! This is **! I will never ever shop there again and neither will anyone in my family and I definitely will be spreading the word so every person I know and hopefully more will either cancel their credit with them or never apply for one in the first place. They are unfair and they don't deserve good, hardworking people's money!

I went and purchased a Walmart money card to have my boyfriend's paychecks direct deposited onto since we don't have a bank account and he travels over the road. I ordered a second card in his name and received it. We accidentally left it at a bar one night after seeing a concert there, and didn't get back to that bar until almost 6 months later since we don't travel to that town very often. The bar's policy is to cut up cards left behind after a few months just for security reasons, which I completely understand. So I called customer service and explained to them what had happened and asked that his card be re-issued, but that my card was fine and didn't need to be replaced. They asked me multiple times if it was just his card that needed to be replaced and I stated yes, that my card was in my possession and was fine. They said it was fine and they would be mailing him a new card and it would be here in 2 weeks.
A few days later I went to purchase gas and my card was declined, so I went home and called customer service and they proceeded to tell me that MY card had been cancelled as well and that they were re-issuing me a new card as well. I then got very upset because this is all the money we had, no cash on us, and we had bills that we needed to pay. In which I was told that they were very sorry for the inconvenience but my only option was to wait for the replacement card to come in the mail. Well a week later I received a card in the mail, but it was the same card that they had just cancelled. So I called them again and they proceed to tell me that it was going to be two weeks for my new replacement card to get to me, which at that time would be 3 weeks now and that was still my only option.
Finally they told me that I could go purchase another Walmart card and transfer money from my account to the new card. So that is what we did, but the main thing they did not tell us is there is a $1000 limit in 30 days. So we finally received my replacement card, but only one card came in the mail, not two. When I called to ask why only one card was mailed they told me that I had requested my boyfriend to be removed from the account, that is why I didn't receive his card as well. Which as I stated earlier I only asked his card be REPLACED! So instead of fighting with them, I just accepted it and was going to order him a new card later because I didn't want them to cancel this new card we had waited 3 weeks for.
Fast forward to February 19th, 2016 and I went to use my card at a nail salon and it was declined twice. Went home and called customer service and they stated that there was a temporary hold placed on the account for suspicious activity. So we were asked to verify the charges, in which we accepted 3 of the charges but the fourth one we stated that we did try and make that charge but the card was declined and that we were not accepting that charge. In which the representative went ahead and said he was going to consider the card compromised and cancel the card. I told him that he didn't need to cancel the card, that we had tried to make that charge but the card was declined and that we never were able to spend that money, but his response was that he had already cancelled the card and could not fix it. Which really irritated me because I never asked him to cancel my card. And now my only option was to wait for my replacement card to come again.
Then I called back the next day wanting an explanation as to why my card was cancelled without my permission. Their account management supervisor told me that since there was a temporary hold on my account they couldn't do anything for me and to wait until Monday to call back and request my card be expedited 1-5 business days instead of the normal two weeks. So I called back this morning and was told that I didn't have the option to expedite my card because it is not a premium gold card, just basic black card. So right now I have over $2,500 dollars sitting in this account which they are telling me for the second time in less than a month I cannot have any access to until I receive my replacement card in 2 weeks!!!
I honestly feel robbed and they are holding my money hostage. There has to be a law they are breaking by doing this to people. What honest bank in their right mind thinks it is ok to cancel someone's debit card without having another card available first! Or even having the option to transfer money into a checking account! As soon as I get my replacement card I am going to withdraw all my money and stop his direct deposit and close this account!
I am never recommending this card to anyone for anything. They are nothing but scammers and they are outsourced, can never get an American person, they are all foreign, and do not speak English well. They can never resolve your issues and can only offer their apology and have you wait. Worst customer service I have ever received, rude, impatient, not caring or understanding. I honestly think they want to have a reason to cancel your card so they can inconvenience you. Like I stated before, never using them again once I can get my money out of this account!!!

I purchased a MoneyCard, had my income tax refund sent to the card. I used the card they sent me with my name on it at Walmart. No problem. My refund came in, took some money off the card, and did a little shopping. Go home later that same day they block my card, told me I needed to verify who I was, to upload my ID to the website which I did the same day. Two days later my account is blocked, no new emails, no calls, so all weekend my account ends up being blocked on Monday which was Presidents' day, still blocked.
Tuesday morning I check. Still blocked. Now in the process I've been trying to reach a human, no luck. I finally found a way to contact a service rep. Dial the number on the card or this number 866-795-7597, wait until it starts asking you to press a number, press 2, then press 1 then press ###### until it connects you with a service rep. I was on the phone with them for 3 hours before they finally told me I needed to resend my ID so I went to do that and it wouldn't take it. Called them back. What do you know as soon as I told the lady my name I could upload my ID again. 10 mins later my card was unblocked. I will never use another Walmart/Green Dot card again.

I made a deposit to my Wal-mart Money Card of $940.00. The next day I got four text saying my balance is $5.60 so I waited till I got home to sign onto my account using my computer. I noticed a charge for $68.88 that I had no idea where it came from. So I called customer service to see if they had a number for the merchant to call them to resolve the issue. I was told they have no number for the merchant. Then told me they can send a replacement to me and it would take 10 business days.
I advised them it was my pay check I put on the card to purchase a money order to pay my rent and to live off of till my next payday. I also advise the rep to not to touch my account because my rent is due and I need the rest of my money to buy gas to get to work and food to live on till I get paid again. Also advised I will find a contact number for the merchant myself and resolve this issue myself. I got off the phone and found the merchant myself and resolve the issue.
Went back on my wal-mart account to check my balance and found my account was closed without my permission or being authorized by me. I asked why this was done without asking my permission. He told me this was for my own protection. I said "you decided for me what is for my protection and is now protecting me from getting my own money and how I'm I going to pay my rent and live for the next 10 days without any money." Told sorry it is the only option for me. Then told he would be happy to send replacement for $15. I asked was that the reason my account was closed so they can make $15 of me having a problem and I now regret calling them. Sorry can't do anything about closing my account. Asked for supervisor who seemed to be his twin sister. Advised to send card. Said will send card without $15 charge. OK Send it.
Call the next day to follow up and see if what I was told was done. Seemed like same guy answered the phone. Tell me nothing was done from the days before. Said to please send card to me. Rep said will send card and charge me $15. OK charge me please send replacement card. Ok. Called the next day got same sounding man who said nothing on account, says I needed a replacement card sent out. "Sir please send me a replacement card." Rep said card would be sent out. Now landlord looking for his rent, family cell phones turned off, netflix turned off, Hulu turned off, gas in car low and no idea how I will be getting to work.
Now is Saturday. Called to see if card sent out. Same script. "Sorry no note about you needing a card sent out and we don't send card out during the weekend will sent card out Monday." Wal-mart is a big American company using people in India to give their American customers substandard service from low paid robots who don't understand anything you're telling them and can't see anything outside the box of their scripts.
Not only I'm never going to use the wal-mart money card once and if I ever get a replacement card and quickly empty it. I won't be stepping foot in wal-mart again and would rather pay extra for my good than give wal-mart another dime. They claim they are closing 100 stores. I wish for their failure and hope they have to close 1000 stores and give the mom and pop business a chance to provide better service to their American customers. This will provide jobs for America and better customer service for our country. Wal-mart sucks. They are the devil.
