The reason we chose Veterans United initially was due to Darci **'s impeccable customer service, follow-up and the overwhelming number of VU positive reviews. From that point forward our team consisting of Ben **, Senior Loan Officer and Kat **, Transaction Coordinator immediately reached out to us to answer any questions. Our situation was that our apartment lease was ending in mid-April and our closing would require precise timing three months out. During the initial process I was dredging the paper process but to my surprise the cloud based technology website was outstanding. I simply uploaded the documents required in the To Do List; and then saw when those items were completed on VU end.
The whole process was a breeze, including a most friendly staff, always answering any concerns, returned emails, texts and phone calls extremely fast. Everything was always explained in terms that we could understand and never felt rushed. In the final stages, the closing date was held on the very day that we required. I would highly recommend Veterans United and especially Ben ** and his team if you want professionals that is knowledgeable, trustworthy and fun to do business with. Great Job!!

Excellent service dealing with a troublesome builder. Always kept us informed of the status and documentation that was needed. Although at times it seemed like some of the documentation requests were duplicated. I enjoyed working with Eric ** and Andy **. I was also able to save over $460 annually with the contact I received from Andy for homeowners insurance. That goes above and beyond just getting me a great mortgage.

Veteran's United Home Loans took the time and had the patience to be persistent enough to get me follow thru on the loan application. I was skeptical at first after having been told by another company that I couldn't qualify for a VA loan since a good portion of my available were already used. They got my VA loan approved quickly and the process was painless. Awesome company to deal with.

Jenna ** along with Veterans United did an amazing job. They made it so simple to stay on track during our qualification process. We never had to wait but a few minutes for a response to the many questions we had along the way, and most of the time our calls were answered directly by Jenna. She made our first home buying experience so much less stressful than I had anticipated. She made sure everything was in order before moving forward to ensure we wouldn’t have any unreasonable expectations. Once everything was complete we were amazed at how little our upfront costs were as well as the future services we will receive just by being a part of Veterans United. Jenna as well as our realtor Adrienne and our entire loan team at Veterans United come highly recommend by me and my family. We could not be happier with our experience.

Working with VU was a truly positive experience. Nothing can make getting a home loan fun but VUs system at least makes it responsive. Even when we hit snags with the seller they stayed focused and made it to closing on time.

I'm not one for hyperbole but my loan team was flat out outstanding and made the process incredible easy for me. One of the reasons I chose VU was because of the great feedback I had heard in regards to customer service and understanding of the needs of military home buyers. Jonathan and his team did not disappoint in that regard. They were extremely professional, helpful and proactive throughout the home buying process and really made the process flow very smoothly and efficiently. I would unequivocally recommend VU to any and all military homebuyers.

They acted as if this was their first loan. Wasted three and one half months of my time. My loan was VA. And a very simple one. Refinance with plenty of equity and over 800 credit score. After 3.5 months of duplications, loss paperwork, they wanted me to start over because my information was too old. Before you consider these people you might want to google their legal problems with the states of New York and California. I closed with another company in 36 days.

I had the distinct pleasure and honor of working with my Loan Officer Eric **, and my Transaction Coordinator, Desi **. From the initial contact and loan application, all the way through closing, I felt I was on a high speed, fast track, ultra efficient, path to home ownership. As a matter of fact, had it not been for a third party provided document that had a typo that needed to be redone and resubmitted, start to close would have been accomplished in 17 days. Nonetheless, my team was able to, I was told, tie the record for quickest successful completion just over 20 days. I was blown away with the professionalism, efficiency, determination, and process knowledge of both Eric and Desi.
I also have to mention the web portal for uploading and reviewing documents, showing the status of your process, what an amazing feature to make the entire process so streamlined and efficient. From phone calls, text messages, emails, and their constant attention to detail on the web portal, my team was THE most incredible team anyone could ask for, I am grateful and appreciative! I SALUTE my team and Veterans United for being there every step of the way as they promised, I'm proud to say I am a Veteran Home Owner because of Eric, Desi, and Veterans United!

I am 30 weeks pregnant, did a 5 day road trip that ended late the night before closing day, had the flu for 2 weeks, and this was our third attempt to buy a house - and I STILL thought this whole process was awesome and easy and stress-free. I credit all of this to Angie and her staff, and the way Veterans United is set up online. As well as how most everything is uploaded for the preapproval process. I don't have anything to compare this experience to, but based on everything I've heard about how long, drawn out, and stressful buying a house is - we did not experience that with VU. Thank you!

I would not recommend VU to anyone. I was just another number to them. My process was contingent on the sale of another home. When my process took longer than normal, I was pushed aside and made to feel like a nuisance. I was told they would work on interest rates to compete with other quotes. That was a lie. Kept being told, "Not to worry about it, we are working on it." "Oh that rate is from the pre approval. It will adjust at the end." I had 4 closing cost changes in 7 days prior to closing. They said it was due to other groups (title company, homeowners insurance, etc).
My emails, documents and speaking with these places told a different story. They gave me the clear to close on Monday for Wednesday, text me Tuesday and changed my closing cost numbers. Wednesday I get an alert that things were added to my online portal THE DAY OF CLOSING. The title company did not receive the paperwork until 4 hours before I walked through the door. They dragged their feet on everything to the point where I had a choice, start the process over and potentially lose out on my house or suck it up and refinance somewhere else later. I receive better, faster service from the VA than I did with VU.

I started trying to get qualified for a VA Loan and I wasn't quite there yet, but I was still assigned an agent to help me get things on track and give me good advice to get my scores where they needed to be. It took approximately 90 days. Once the scores were in place I was Pre-Approved for my home loan with the price point I was seeking. My loan office, Jonathan ** and his team made the process seem effortless. The website is user friendly, it's also mobile friendly. I was able to follow along and understand the process. The attention to detail on the documents was awesome. My team was accessible and I never once had to worry about where I was in the process. I would definitely recommend this company. I closed within 45 days on today, 2/1/2019. I couldn't be any happier.

Think twice before using Veterans United home loans. We originally had a buyer who was pre-approved with them. After 21 days 12/18 they realized they didn't get VOE (originally close date 12/24) so they asked for an extension for 12/31 with a guarantee of close for them to come back on 12/28 to decline the buyer (after the buyer signed off all contingency) a week prior. What lender puts the buyer and seller through all this 2 days before we're suppose to close escrow! Luckily we're working things out with another lender who believes everything should work.

I did NOT buy a home with Veterans United Home loans. I was in the process of buying one and to their credit, it was going smoothly. They have a very user friendly portal in which you can upload required documentation, bank statements, w2s etc. I was under contract on a home and then Hurricane Michael happened. The home I was weeks away from closing on was completely destroyed. We were able to get out of the contract, but certain inspections/appraisals had already been done. We no longer had interest in buying a re-sale home and decided to not go with Veterans United anymore. They still charged us a full $450 for an appraisal on a home which was no longer standing!
I paid them the money I owed, however; I feel like given the circumstances they should have thrown us a bone and helped us out as we are already going through a ton as it is. But they did not, I guess to them we were just a number and lost revenue so they as well get what they could from us. I guarantee $450 means a lot more to a working class person than it does to a national lending corporation. But ohh well.

He asked for my name, address, telephone, email, Social Security Number and employee. Which I gave to him to look up my Military Record... Not once did he divulge that he was NOT with the Veterans Administration.
He led me to believe that he was with the VA, and without my Authorization, he did a hard hit inquiry on my credit. I am doing a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission as well as the State Attorneys office where the company is headquartered from on Missouri I already own a home, and did not request any information regarding a home loan. I closed on my house today no thanks to Veterans United. These folks sent me through 3 different loan Officers and 2 Hard Inquiries on my credit report on a 4 month period which significantly dropped my score. I started this roller coaster ride w/ Loan Officer Daniel in August. He went over my information and relayed me to the Lighthouse Program to help me get my credit up to 620, the program itself was helpful and straightforward when it comes to a plan of action. I followed the program and got my credit score pass the 620 mark in 2 months, I was cleared in mid-October and figured I'm back on track. I waited a week to hear anything. I sent Daniel a couple of emails with no response.
I eventually got a call from Loan Officer Jason saying Daniel is no longer with the company and he's my new loan officer, I then received my pre-approval letter for $220,000 and was congratulated by Jason. He informed me to start shopping for a house so I did. My wife and I found a house for $200,000 in early November and got a contingent contract signed. I relayed all the info to Jason and I never heard anything back for another week. I got a call from Loan Officer Harris early November and he said Loan Officer Jason is not Licensed to operate in TN and they thought I was looking for a house in GA (I told Veterans United on 3 different occasions that I am looking for houses in the tri-state area. AL, TN and GA).
Harris is apparently now my new Loan Officer and He told me he sent me an email introducing himself (never got it). He was quick to tell me that he is both Jason and Daniel's direct Supervisor and that I am in good hands. The very next day He told me my credit age is not good enough and my bank statements had negative balances so they cannot loan me anything after all. This information was not new as I had already provided my statements and credit history during the initial application process but for some reason Veterans United is just now finding out I cannot qualify and he did not even bother to send it through to underwriting.
His explanation was "I have been in this business long enough to know when a loan will get denied." I was told this after I was prequalified by Jason, was told to find a home, found the home, got under contract and paid the earnest money. Harris told me to check back w/ him in 6 to 8 mos and we will see. He then referred me again to the Lighthouse Program and that's the last I heard from any of these guys. I am well aware that I have nobody to blame but myself in regard to my financial and credit issues. The only thing I am frustrated about is getting the runaround, getting led on and lied to by this company. This is 4 months (Aug-Nov) of unneeded stress for a first time homebuyer coming from folks that work for a respectable company that deals with thousands of customers. One would expect that they should know what they are doing.
A local company got me closed in 1 month from when Veterans United dropped me like a hot potato (Nov 13- Dec 13). These folks were much more organized, had everything in order and they knew how to talk to people. They worked really hard for me instead of just passing me around the room then deciding I'm not worth their time like Veterans United did. I could have closed on a house 4 months earlier in August if I had steered clear from this company.

I am telling you from personal experience, even though I have extensive VA Benefit training, this company is unethical and wants to take advantage and charge enormous fees! They will put a bad mark on your credit score and do not abide by the protections your VA Guaranteed Loan is supposed to provide to you! You worked too hard to be taken advantage of!

I received a preapproval letter and told that I was all set to find a home. After months of searching for a home, and paid for an inspection, the loan officer informed me that I need to show proof of bill paying. I was not informed that I needed to show checking account withdrawals for these payments. I have paperless accounts or use the option of paying at my local grocery store; therefore I could not show proof and for all of the payments. My landlord sent them a letter verifying that I am in good standing and amount paid as did the utility company. They claimed that was unacceptable and did not grant me the loan. I was mortified to have involved the realtor, the seller of the home and not to mention the time spent searching for a home, as well as the $374.00 that I am now at loss.
This company needs to be monitored on how they construct business. It is not right to lead people on and cost them money. Is this how we should treat our veterans? I suffered with an injury from the Vietnam War I did not need to suffer at the hands of some smart mouthed kid behind a desk! Please see that this does not happen to anyone else. Thank you.
