If I could give Shawnee 20/10 stars, it still wouldn't be enough. She was there for me from our first phone call (over 6 months ago) until closing day. I knew absolutely nothing about the home buying experience, or what to expect, and Shawnee broke everything down for me step by step. She was there when I was freaking out and there when I was excited - at times she also served as a therapist! She would be taking her daughter to ballet class after work, and would still take my calls. Her knowledge of the industry and experience made any and every question I had (and trust me there were A LOT) completely understandable - plus, she is truly just the nicest person - I think if I lived anywhere near Missouri we would be friends!

Great team, very easy and straightforward quick process! Dan and the team were amazing from start to finish. I closed in less than 30 days. The website makes everything simple and the communication from the team leaves no questions unanswered.

I would highly recommend VU to any of my fellow veterans and in particular my team, Jenaire and Jessica, who were absolutely phenomenal. Getting a mortgage approved and closed is not a fun experience but they made it seamless and I appreciate their hard work.

Clint ** is the best mortgage specialist out there. From preapproval to closing he was on my side and available. Veterans United has a hybrid closing so most of your documents are signed electronically prior to arriving at the title company which means less time at the table.

To be totally honest, my home buying and later my refinancing went so smooth it was unbelievable! Matt ** is very personable and compassionate with a zeal to make customers happy, comfortable and relaxed. A true gentleman. Every aspect of the process was guided by Matt and his team. I doubt I will ever use another business for anything home related.

Quick, painless. 3rd time using this company so you can see I keep coming back. Mostly emails because of work, but they responded to every question in a timely manner. Paperwork was done on their end to make closing very fast.

This was so unlike any experience I’ve ever had buying a home but in a great way! Communication (even though by email and text) was top-notch. Everything was explained if I had questions (and there were many). Everything was wrapped up in a nice little online website where we could find everything we needed at our fingertips. Even though buying a house at this time was absolutely nuts and frustrating Veterans United was there for us every step of the way. I’m glad we chose them.

It is hard to find companies on the civilian side who have your back as tenaciously as Veterans United. They had the best rate of anyone - including Navy Federal and USAA! And they fought for me every chance they got! They worked tirelessly to get me the best possible deal in every instance.

Our home-building journey started with Veterans United over 18 months ago. My wife and I had never built before and it wasn't clear to us exactly how to get a VA home loan for this. Shortly after applying, Hunter reached out and explained how to do this. We went through 2 different banks; one for the lot loan and one for the construction loan. In dealing with the other lenders, the contrast between the service we received from Hunter was profound. With the interest rates being so low, the other lenders would speak like they were reading disclaimers at the end of a commercial (very fast) and weren't interested in speaking for more than 5 minutes. Whenever speaking with Hunter, he took the time to ensure we understood everything and never rushed to get us off the phone.

I would definitely recommend VA Home Loans, especially Mr. Darin **. This gentleman and his team are a blessing to this company. They never gave up on getting me my loan and they were always available to answer every possible question I had. The loan process itself was quick and easy, and the MyVU site was immensely helpful to keep track of the loan status. Though our loan was delayed in the close (for understandable reasons), VU was patient and understanding with us, helping to keep us in the loop of where things stood, when documents were getting stale, etc. They were very understanding about us not wanting to waste our time renewing documents until we knew we were going to be closing on the house. Overall, VU made the whole process of buying our first house practically painless, and I'd happily recommend them to any of my Veteran friends who are looking to buy or refinance!

Marvin, my realtor, was amazing! He was so patient and only recommended houses to me that he thought would fit my personality. It was like he knew me! Steve ** just kept me calm in what I thought was a very wild ride! When I got frustrated, he would just hear me out and explain things so I would not lose my mind. He was great. The rest of the team helped me immensely. My utilities were already turned-on the day I closed on the house. So, I was able to start doing the things I needed to do right away and not have to wait. The movers were scheduled, everything was taken care of because they took care of me.

I had a very bad experience with Veterans United. They come off, and advertise, at first as caring about veterans. But if a hiccup comes along they practically write you off. Had a very small road issue and it took days for the loan officer to respond to me. When I got Jennifer ** on the phone she told me that I should go through a different lender. After several days of asking for a supervisor I talked with Carl **. He had told me that I would be just working with him from then on. I did not hear from him again. When we talked he said he would do what he can to do a way that would allow us to close. Not only did they not get back to me on that, the three other times I brought it up I was ignored. Because of them not caring about veterans nor the individual I had to buy back down the rate from the original closing date that cost me $4,000 more. Horrible company that treats veterans as if on an assembly line. If there is an issue they practically throw you away.

This company puts everything upfront as though they are going to do everything in the world for you. Don't be fooled. They have no sense of urgency. We were already into a contract situation when told they only handle certain types of homes. It would have been nice to know this upfront. They are like any other "We are here for the Veterans" Hype. There are better lenders. I should have known something when my real estate agent said, "oh no, you are using Veterans United?" Yep. It was a huge mistake.

Very easy and simple process. Probably the best I have experienced in a home closing. The team were very responsive and explained everything thoroughly. They even sent personalized gifts to my pets prior to closing to add that little extra touch. Only thing I recommend is get a good quality Title company for closing. The one I used did not keep in good communications with Veterans United and there were some hidden fees that were put in we were all unaware of. But HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend using them especially if you are a Disabled Veteran.
