If you can try and borrow money from family, friends or co-workers, that would be your best bet. Reason being Tower Loan is not a place you want to do business. My husband and I each have a loan through them. He had his loan almost two years before he lost his job. He never missed a payment and he was out of work for about 8 months. They didn't care though I paid what I could afford to on his because his note was much higher than mine. I tried telling them that he was out of work and I was the only one paying bills at the time, along with taking care of three kids. He finally got him a job and when Tower Loan called, he told them he just started his job and they hold out a week so it will be two weeks before he gets paid. But as soon as he does, he's going to bring by some money. They asked how much he could bring and he said he was not sure, because he doesn't know how much his check will be.
So every day for two weeks, they called him at least 6 times a day while at work. He told them not to call him until after 5 because he worked from 7 to 5 pm. Well, when time came and he got paid, he only got $126 so he went in to pay them and they told him they couldn't accept that because he owed $320. That's what he was behind (his note is only $210 now) and he told them that's all he got paid. He even showed them his pay stub and they still refused payment. So another week went by and he came up with the rest of the money. He went in and yet again, they said he owed more than the amount they had said the week before. But the week prior, we made them write down the $320 and we showed them that and of course, they had to take the $320 after we showed them the paper. Well, he got behind again due to medical leave, but he ended up back at work on light duty and Tower Loan told him that he could resign his loan.
So during his lunch break, he was on the phone giving them all his info, so all he had to do after work is come in and sign. He asked them over the phone how much he owed. It was $2,500 and he said how much interest is going to be added. She told him not much at all. So he went after work and they hadn't even started his paperwork (and he got off at 5 and talked to them at 11 that day), so he had to sit and give all his info again and they came to him with his paperwork not telling him beforehand how much interest was going to be added on. They started going over the paperwork and it said $2,500 is what he owed but it had $3,000 interest added on. He said, "Hell no. Y'all said there wasn't going to be that much interest added." He told them he's not signing this. He was lied to. He was ill. So as he was walking out, the manager stopped him and said, "Well, since you didn't sign your loan, we need to know when and how much you can pay us." He said, "I can pay you Friday but I don't know how much until I get paid." Well, forever we have to deal with this.
On January 23rd, 2013, they called him and he had left his phone in his truck. So his mom pulled up and said, "Tower Loan called your granny and they have upset her. You need to call." And when he did, oh lord, the manager William told my husband, "Well, I think it's funny how when I call you, you don't answer but when I call your grandmother, you call me right back." They called her and told her that if she didn't get her grandson to call them back, they were coming to get his truck. So she got upset. She's 80. Really, Tower Loan. So of course, he and William went at it and he told William he would be in Friday, Jan. 25th to pay $100 to stop calling his grandmother. He's already told them this. He has been in the office and told them to replace her number with someone else and they claimed they took her off me. His wife is the first person on his list to call. If they can't get a hold of him and they don't ever call me, it's like they know what they are doing. So he told them the next time they call her after he took her off the list, he would sue them for harassment. William said, "Good for you," and hung up.
So I went in and paid the hundred he said he would pay and the other manager came up and said, "Do you have $5 more?" I said no. He told William $100. I said, "I don't know if you know about the phone call, but it was uncalled for for him to be talking to my husband like that." He said they heard the whole thing (which meant William had my husband on speaker phone through the whole thing talking about his loan in front of everyone). I said all I had was $116. I put $16 in gas. That's all we have until next Friday. He said William has $105 in the computer. I said of course he does but that's not what my husband said he would pay. The manager says, “We can’t accept this. It has to be the $105 and it needs to be paid by the time we close this afternoon.” So I said thanks and left. I called my husband and told him what they said.
So he went home, got our change jar that we put our pennies in and took $5 in pennies because that's all the money we have. He took it up there and the manager said, “We can’t take this change,” and my husband said, “Why not? It’s legal tendency just like bills you have accepted bills.” The manager said, “Are you trying to be funny?” My husband said, “No. We told you we didn't have any more money and this is what I had in my change jar.” The manager said, “You can take that across the road and get bills.” Then the manager told him that he’s not allowed back in his office and if he comes back, he will call the law. So my husband said, “Well, how the heck am I supposed to pay my bill?” He said by mail system by mail or send someone else. He went across the street and got bills for the change and sent my eight-year old son in to pay. It’s one thing to be hateful to an adult but to a child? I recorded!

This is the second time Bad Business ** Tower loan sued me when I had already paid. Their employees, Glen and Suizaane, told me to pay them off. They treated me like a dog. On the day of court, they dropped the suit. I had to miss work without pay. Later that same day, I continued to get phone calls from them. They told me they were going to sue me and they did. This time in court, they want to make an agreement with me. I paid a $130 all but $15 went to interest. No one has anything good to say about them. I've been a customer since 2008. In 2010, they called the police on me for wanting my money that my husband overpaid on my payoff back. A little kindness and understanding goes a long way. People sometimes have problems.

I am letting you know that if the Tower Loan Company rips you off, call or contact one of the agencies (BBB, State Attorney General and State Insurance Commission). They put insurance on your loan that costs almost as much as amount loaned. They harass you over 10 times a day if you are late and they commit fraud on a regular basis. If you have a problem, they are discourteous and rude. Also, tell all you know how bad they are.

Tower Loan is a rip off! Not only do they charge the absolute maximum interest on anything borrowed, be very careful, they stick you with additional insurance and a rental car agreement when you sign up. Don't ever be late, they'll try to repossess on what you've put up as collateral. Stay away from these people like the plague.

Tower Loan’s employees don't know how to talk to customers. They lie to you and charge you for things you don't agree to. They "never received" a payment from me supposedly, but that was the only time I paid with cash. They call all numbers on your application and inform them about your status on your account, which is illegal as no one should know anything about your account - that's for them to discuss with you and you only. When they speak to you, they are beyond rude and interrupt you when you’re trying to talk to them. They even went as far as threatening to come up to my work; therefore, when this loan is done with, I will never have another one with them. My loan that I have now stated it was interest-free for 12 months, but I'm being charged interest daily and they can't fix it, so they say. Therefore, I will tell everyone that if you’re thinking about taking out a loan, do not use Tower Loan!

Every loan you get, they tact on extra fees for the car - the car e-club that you don't want. I got a loan with them and got behind on it. I've been struggling. Tower Loan garnished my check, for about $700 a month on a $125 a month note. I'm not upset about my garnishment. It is my debt, I owed it. In the meantime, I've made over of about $250 and they won't refund it. Don't use this company, you will be sorry.

They always add on more money to my bill. They tried to tell me I missed a bill so they could charge more money. They checked the pawnshop to see what I have pawned. How I came to know this is one of the workers told me to pawn my gun to pay the bill. And I said, "How do you know I have a gun?" She tried to tell me that I put it on my list for them to get if I don't pay my bill but like I told her, no it isn't. You went through the pawnshop without my consent. She said that they can do whatever they want whenever you owe them money. I just want to get this loan paid off and there won't be anymore.

It is a shame you can't rate this company with less than one star. They are so inept that it isn't funny. They leave messages that a one-year-old could do better. They whisper on the phone, leave threatening messages, and start calling all contacts if it goes 15 days late. Do not use these fools for anything.

My wife and I got a small loan from Tower. About four weeks later, we found it didn't cover auto repairs so went back in and added more. We were told it would be all combined and told what the payment would be. When I got the bill a few weeks later, it wasn't at all as quoted. I called the manager and he said he would get it corrected, just another lie from professionals. Instead of one note we now had 2, the original plus the new one. And if it is not paid on time, they start calling 10-15 times a day. Don't let it go past 7 days or they call the references and threatening them. What a lowlife company to deal with.

My wife and I went to Tower Loan, took out a loan of $2,500.00. My wife kept the loan for a week and then went and paid back in full the $2,500.00 minus the interest accrued by this time. And now, we have a letter in hand telling us we are to pay another $2,100.00 for the interest that the loan never accrued as we asked about a penalty of paying back early and there was not a problem. The manager explained there wasn't a penalty. Now, we are seeing there is a penalty or some kind of a big problem reading in to this letter and seeing we are being ripped off.
We also in investigating the credit report Tower Loan has ran our credit in a time frame that was after we had gotten the paperwork signed and had it in hand as well. This is an invasion of privacy and is a legal issue and misrepresentation as well as profiling and trying to steal legally, or being bullied to believe this kind of practice is okay! Well, it is not! This is harassment in the highest when a working class family is being sent letters of this magnitude and you are barely making a living. It's extremely horrific to say the least.

I received a prescreened credit offer from Tower - not even an application, but a check that when endorsed constitutes a loan agreement. We opted out (in writing) to the optoutprescreen.com several months ago. Tower Loan stated they could not do anything, that we would have to opt out to their office in Mississippi - and furnish our social security number - otherwise, if the information was not complete, they could not opt out for us. They said they had no way of knowing who opted out, as the offer came from the home office, P.O. Box 320093, Flowood, MS. They refused to furnish a phone number or person at that office to contact in regard to this. I am concerned about fraud, with my name on approved loans in the mail, and being demanded to provide a social security number to a company I obviously do not want to do business with! What good does it do to opt out with the credit reporting agencies, if lenders fail to honor that!

I first got a loan through Tower Loan with a furniture store, then a few months later, I received a check in the mail from Tower Loan for $1,200.00 and all I had to do was cash it. Well I did and that was the worst mistake I have ever done and I have done some pretty stupid stuff. As time went on, we got behind and they said they could give us more money and that would catch us up. So we did a second mistake with Tower Loan. Of course, my husband's work has slowed down and we are having problems paying. For the last few months, Tower Loan has been calling and harassing us. I have been called a liar, accused of not really sending in payments and this month 4/12, I sent a payment for the furniture loan and they applied it to the big loan. On the money order, it clearly states furniture loan.
They were yelling at me because I did not send more. I tried to tell them you can't send more if you don't have it. Well that just sent them into a hissy fit. My daughter finally started recording them and I think they knew they were on speaker because his tone changed. Because of Tower Loan, a 23 year sobriety was lost. Now what do I do? I also informed him that they were evil. No other loan company has ever treated me the way he was and he said, "Well, we are more aggressive than those other companies" and he was not going to apologize for doing his job.

We took out a $2,000 loan in July 2006. Our payments were $159 a month for 24 months. We were having trouble some months making our payment so they suggested we come in and refinance the $1,200 we owed to get our payments down. I believe it was summer of 2008, we refinanced, our payments got down to $119 for 21 months every month.
I pay $120 prior to refinancing they turned us over to a collection company last May. I called them to see how much we still owed so we could get it paid off because it should have been 1-2 months and it should have been paid in full. Natasha told me she didn't know what we owed and that I had to call the collection office. I did and they told me we owed $1,799, yet they are charging up 54% interest.
Last year, in May, after I called to find out the balance due and I figured at that time, we had paid them over $8,800 and I was told we still owed almost $1,800 more. I called back Natasha and asked her what their computer showed my balance was and she said they showed we owed only a little over $365, we were told that since it was turned over to collections, the loan starts all over again.
It was turned over to Schwarzkopf Law Offices. So, for 6 years we've been paying approximately 5 times what we borrowed at this time and we still have a long way to go. My son’s girlfriend went through the same thing. We both also received repeated calls from them about when we'd be in to make our payment when it wasn't due for 10-14 days. I would receive repeated calls while I was at work, which I got laid off from last April 7th. I feel they are taking advantage. We were given paperwork stating the payment, how long the loan was for and the amount that would be paid at the end of the loan and we were never told we'd be charged 54% or we would never had gotten the loan from them, they still have my car title after 6 years.

I went to the office, and talked to a man, who turned everything talked about in the phone conversation, an outright lie!
Not only was the loan no good for the amount told, he went way up on the interest, and on a very small amount added to the loan already made, was going to pay that loan off, and go up on the total interest, from 28 percent to 31 percent for the total loan! Omg, what a rip off to the public who don't know any better! When I returned a call to discuss what had happened. the man was rude, and tried to treat me like I was the one who did something wrong! This company calls my phone and work phone several times a day. They've even shown up at my house. I cannot get voice mails because they consistently fill my inbox up all the time. They will not provide me with information pertaining to my loan. I've asked them for statements showing me my payoff balance, interest accrued, and my recent payments reflected in the balance without any success. They took me to court over the matter. I wasn't available for court that day, so they automatically won the case. That added an additional $1,000.00 to my loan so they say, but no paperwork they provide me shows this figure. I'm an honest guy and I've never been delinquent on any loans prior to this company.
They can't and won't tell me how delinquent I was when they decided to pursue legal action against me. I would have clearly paid them the past due balance rather than being forced to sign a judgment against myself. When I ask them for any information about my loan, they say I need to contact their lawyer. I've contacted their lawyer and he's provided me with a statement of a figure of around $1,900.00 from the start him taking over the loan. I've made $1,200 in payments since February and he states that I still owe $1,400 on my loan.
Interest is only $30.00/month and I'm no genius, but this isn't adding up. I dated the girl that gave me the loan at the time and I feel that a huge conflict of interest is in order, here. She's manipulating my payments and finances with this company. They refuse to answer any of my questions and will not work with me to provide any payoff information. All they will provide me is a list of my recent payments, but none of this has my balance or what my payments are doing to lower my payoff.
I'm being cheated. I have a lot of paper work from this company giving me everything but what I'm asking for. I know that if my file was audited and payments calculated, I will have paid my loan plus extra. I'm not asking for much, but a monthly statement showing how I'm doing doesn't seem out of the ordinary to ask of a loan company. My work will back me up on their harassing phone calls. I have witnesses that have been at my house when they've shown up.
I have received letters from other lawyers pursuing this company for wrongful debt collection practices. I have made every payment on time since February and I'm still harassed by this company. I want to go after them myself and provide them the justice they deserve for doing harmful things to good people.

First of all, is it not illegal that he didn't even do a credit check on me? Second of all, I checked my credit report and they have not once updated any of my payments that I made on the account. These people are crazy and deal with collections totally the wrong way. They are rude and deceitful.

Their manager, Ben, showed up at my home on 4/12/10 demanding I make a payment on a loan he alleges I have. Ben would not leave initially, and he only left after I informed him I was calling the Quincy, Illinois Police Department. Ben or his secretary at Tower Loan calls my phone number repeatedly and leave messages that have taken over my voicemail.
I receive calls anywhere from 2 to 10 or so times a day. I have asked Ben to stop phoning me, but he ignores my request and the phone calls have increased in frequency. I have asked Ben to communicate via U.S. Mail if he alleges I owe Tower Loan. Communication via U.S. Mail seems to be the most professional and safe method of dealing with this issue. Ben has ignored all my request. Ben informed me that he can do as he pleases and that he can show up at my home, etc. I have contacted both the Quincy, Illinois and Hannibal, Missouri Police Departments regarding Ben and his tactics.

First, she sends me a nasty notice for 0.30 cents. I go in to pay it and tell her that I do not appreciate it. She could just have added that to next month’s account. At the time, I was going through some difficult times at home. I was barely remembering to pay the bills. She made it seem as though I was trying to cheat her out of a lousy thirty cents. She did not act professionally at all and I told her so. She was rude and nasty to me. After I paid my loan off, she kept calling me to renew it. I felt that she owed me an apology which I never received. I then tried to renew my loan and she refused. I always paid them off. I feel like she allows her personal feelings to interfere in her judgment. I went to another loan company which treated me better and thanked me for being a loyal customer. I feel she lost her company money due to her bad attitude. She also cost her company a good customer. I’d like her boss to knew these facts.
