Because I had a tad credit problem which I just about got fixed. Synchrony decided to lower my credit amount on my cards thru them intern lowering my credit score more. They do not care about there customers that have been with them for a while and have never had a problem. They were always paid. They are perks a mafia style run fiancé bank. That's all they are. They need to be shut down and put out of business.

At Synchrony Bank My cell is the only one on my profile, yet the Multifactor Security Code goes to my WIFE'S cell. Her cell is nowhere listed on the account. Rep said they can't fix it because "it's done by a third party." What if they sent it to someone I don't know? Major security problem! Goodbye Synchrony Bank!

SYNCHRONY BANK should be investigated for predatory practices and customer service making and breaking commitments. If you pay your zero rate loan off early (in 4 monthly payments for 6 month promotion.), you can expect something to go wrong with the last payment and an overdue notice. I contacted them as soon as they notified my by email that something was wrong. I check my bank to make sure the payment completed and my early payment was returned. Customer Rep. was so understanding, took my final payment and said the late fee would be waived due to my 812 EquiFax credit score and mistakes happen. Four calls over the next 3 months and talking to management; "SORRY, SUCKER!!" Now my credit score is in the 500s ONLY BECAUSE of SB! Synchrony Bank will NOT give away use of their money for NOTHING. And they will trash a fixed SS income retiree's credit until they get their trickle of blood.

BEWARE! SCAMMER INSIDE. Call to cancel Amazon Prime store card. The employee I talked to told me that the account was already canceled, but that a business account in my name had been open fraudulently. He gave me a number to call, which turned out to be the scammer. He is directing customers to who he says will help you with this. The guy I reached said he was with the federal government cyber security anti fraud department. He had me call him back on his personal number. He is the scammer on the outside, getting fed people to scam from the Synchrony Bank employee.

I have two accounts with Synchrony. Both first payments got rejected. I have screenshots of all transactions, but they blame me for the rejection and do nothing to help. Their suggestion was to go to the store to make an in-person payment! I have a great credit rating - over 800 - and no problems whatsoever paying online with vendors and banks. I'll probably cancel the convenience of these cards. Sorry, TJ MAXX and JCPENNEY.

You don’t even deserve one star. I hate this bank. Hard to get to talk to a real person. They take money out of my checking account & I have never had auto-pay. I call in every month and make $100 payment but they took $33.49 out of my checking account the same day I called in & made the $100 payment.

I had the worst experience ever with Synchrony Bank and Living spaces. They lured me to buy furniture and made the payment look very smooth as monthly installments at 150$ a month. Then they charged me 4300$ which is the full amount, the first month they left me without any money. I don’t appreciate their lie.

Absolutely terrible experience. I didn't know how they stay in business. I just opened a credit card and went to use our with the advertised promotion. They declined my payment - actually only last of my payment so no promotion was applied. What a ** racket. When I called to unlock the card, they couldn't tell me why my transaction was declined but that they put a hold on the card because there were multiple declined transactions. YOU are the bank who is declining the transactions and you can't tell me why. Just that I should now call the store to figure out this mess? Of course when I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was just put on hold for an hour. What a bunch of useless dummies.

Synchrony Bank - especially the supervisors but even the front line seem more knowledgeable & helpful. Supervisor Diana is amazing and I had service recently that brought me to tears. The compassion in this man was unmatched. Phillip out of India, interaction was September 26. His amazing service has sustained me…I’ll admit, calling PayPal credit and actually getting past that automated system is a challenge and I often give up. Luckily I don’t need to call often. But when I do get through, there are some caring people on the other side.

I am writing this review to share my deeply disappointing experience with Synchrony Bank regarding a billing dispute for a $6,000 transaction with EVO Gadgets in Las Vegas, NV. The products I received did not match the items listed on my receipt. I was also led to sign paperwork that was presented to me as an acknowledgment of receiving a complimentary item—only to find out later that it was treated as a purchase. I immediately disputed the charge with Synchrony Bank and provided all the supporting information.
Despite this, I felt that Synchrony Bank showed little to no concern for my situation as a consumer. Instead of thoroughly investigating or giving reasonable consideration to the evidence I submitted, I felt they sided with the merchant—a merchant that currently holds an “F” rating with the BBB and has a pattern of complaints from other customers describing similar issues such as deceptive sales tactics, pressure, questionable paperwork, and resistance to refunds.
This experience has left me with the impression that Synchrony Bank prioritizes the businesses that benefit the bank rather than the customers who rely on them for protection. I trusted that a financial institution would safeguard me from questionable or misleading transactions like this, but that trust has been broken. I hope my review helps others make informed decisions before choosing to use Synchrony Bank. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend them.

I will never use Synchrony ever again. I have been trying for 7 wks now to transfer my IRA money. It has been a maddening experience. Nobody takes any accountability. Forms get lost, they use snail mail and the other bank states the forms have never been received. Then repeat the process AGAIN, with no resolution. I have even spoken to supervisors and still cannot get this done. At the time, I was trying to move my money to a high rate CD at another institution, which no longer exists now, I can't find anything close to that rate now. I am at my wits' end. I do not know what else to do to get this done.

Synchrony Bank offers a slightly higher rate of interest than most brick and mortar community banks. But they drop the ball completely when negotiating a funds transfer. I had the displeasure of attempting this with this institution. On Nov, 3, 2025 I engaged in a three-way telephonic communication with them and requested one of my accounts be closed and the monies to be transferred to a different investment account. It is now Dec 9, and the big online bank that has no brick and mortar, who wants all of your information in cyberspace, executes a transaction via snail mail that they maintain was mailed via check on Nov. 26, 2025. This is unacceptable by ANY standard. I will be reporting this to the Insurance and Banking Commission and I will be closing my other account at Synchrony upon maturation.

I am writing this in tears and out of total desperation. I’ve always been proud of my credit score and I pay my bills on time, every time. But I just fell into a "deferred interest" trap with Synchrony Bank that has completely devastated me. I bought a mattress at Mattress Firm in 2022 for about $1,800. The sales pitch was simple: "Interest-free for 24 months." I signed up, and for two years, I paid the bill they sent me every single month. I never missed a payment. I thought I was doing everything right.
Here is the trap: The "minimum payment" or "auto-pay" amount they suggest on the bill is NOT enough to pay off the item by the deadline. It is mathematically set up so that you will have a small balance left over when the 2 years are up. Because I had a small balance left in October 2024, they didn't just charge me interest on what I owed—they went back to 2022 and charged me interest on the entire $1,800. My balance is now back up to nearly $1,700. It’s like my two years of payments never happened.
I am not trying to get out of paying for my mattress. I am anxious and eager to pay the principal balance off right now. I can't afford this penalty. I called customer service, but they wouldn't help. To the Community: Please, check your statements. Do not trust the "amount due" number. To Synchrony: Please, I am begging for a goodwill adjustment. I tried to do the right thing. Please let me pay the principal and close this chapter.

I would not recommend this bank to anyone. I was late with payment because I was out of town. When I called the the representative said they will remove all late fees but that did not happen. To my surprise I got a delinquent notice and my credit rating dropped 75 point over a $ 9.00 late fee.

Purchased a product from a local vendor and they offered 0 percent financing. I was informed at the point of sale it was for 3 years. My monthly payments reflected the period so that the product would be paid off at the end of 3 years. Over the last year, I’ve encountered family health issues and provided care for them with most recently losing two family members in the last 60 days. With that being said, I did not pay attention to the fact that synchrony was charging me interest rates because the promotional program was only for 12 months. They charged me $3700 and interest.
I had the same issue with Best Buy and they credited me the interest in. I paid off the loan the same day. I’ve contacted Synchrony Customer Service and even spoke with a manager regarding a one time interest credit based on family health issues and most recent loss of 2 family members. They absolutely will not do anything to help me. Lesson learned what I would never ever buy a product again and utilize synchrony bank for a credit card. In the meanwhile, I will fight this.

Mattress Firm mattress is fine and base is okay but it’s Syncrony Bank, who they use for their 12 months “free interest” plans. I called Synchrony Bank and made payments of 399 to pay off mattress EARLY, 7 months early. I was charged late fees because I made lump sums without payments that were not within Synchrony’s window. I reported Synchrony Bank to the Better Business Bureau. Went online and saw hundreds of complaints against synchrony Bank in their reviews for this practice. You’ve been warned. I wish someone had warned me.

When you pay all your bills on time and more than the minimum due and never late, they lower your line of credit, that is being punished for doing what you are supposed to be doing. That is pure bullshit. I would never recommend this pure trash company to anyone.

Be aware of problems with Rooms-to-Go Synchrony Bank cards. They offered me a 60 month interest free card/account. The card was being reported like a credit card and the limit was reduced as I paid the card down, showing that it was alway maxed out. After paying on time for 12 months they closed my account for inactivity even though I had been on auto-pay and have never missed a payment. My credit score took a hit due to no fault of my our. Both Rooms-to-go and Synchrony Bank said I did nothing wrong but could not fix the problem. I have filed a dispute with the Transunion. Unfair...next call to TN Consumer Affairs Dept.

I made a final payment on June 10, 2025, to completely pay off and close my CareCredit account with Synchrony Bank, the representative confirmed my account would be paid in full and closed. Weeks later, I received a new charge of $156.74. When I called for clarification, a representative named Sandra was rude and dismissive, telling me that interest would continue even after the account was closed — which makes absolutely no sense and contradicts what I was told when I made my final payment.
I paid the $156.74 under protest, but this experience has been extremely frustrating and unfair. It feels like predatory lending, keeping customers in unnecessary debt even after full payment. Because of this situation. I strongly caution others to think twice before using CareCredit or Synchrony Bank. They do not communicate clearly, they mishandle accounts, and they treat loyal customers with disrespect.

I spent over three hours dealing with Synchrony Bank’s customer service in the store after speaking with one rep at home. It was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve had. I was approved for a Lowe’s loan and was even given a loan number by one of their customer service reps to bring to Lowe’s to complete my purchase. When I arrived at the store, I found out it wouldn’t work.
From there, I was bounced between three different customer service reps, none of whom could help me. Each time, I had to provide all my personal information again Social Security number, photo ID, facial recognition, and even voice recognition just to start the same conversation over. They then ran my credit a second time, which dinged my score and reduced my approval amount. The representatives were difficult to understand, had terrible attitudes, and provided no accountability or resolution. At this point, I honestly hope this is a legitimate company and that no fraud appears on my credit report after giving them so much sensitive information. I also hope they close this account after the 30 days they mentioned, because I will never use Synchrony Bank again. Beware

If I could leave zero stars I would. I had a Sam’s Club Mastercard with a credit limit of 3000. I owed 400. I went to use my credit card and was denied. They dropped my credit limit down to 500. I was never late on any payments so I contacted customer service and all they could say was the company looks at your credit report monthly and they made a decision to lower my credit limit. Mind you I have a 760 credit score. When they lowered my credit limit it made my utilization high so my credit score dropped. I paid them off and discarded the card. Worse bank card ever.

How stupid are people to fall for this graft and why does Synchrony Bank get away with ripping EVERYONE who isn't aware that there's a way better and way more fair alternative to these predators? Get online and makes some calls. Visit your local credit union and open an account.

Synchrony Bank handles the PayPal credit line. They removed paper billing and forced everyone to use paperless billing. Problem is the PayPal app isn't really clear on your normal PayPal account vs the credit account. You also have an issue trying to figure out what's due when you use the "no credit for 6 months" or other offers - it's a guessing game at times if you have more than one plan active at the same time. I was getting tired of tracking it, so I decided the payoff the account.
That payment hit one day after the due date (due date was a Sunday). They added a late fee and interest. I refused to pay and contacted them to ask the fee and interest be removed. They refused to do so. My credit rating is taking a beating now because they are greedy beyond belief. Do yourself a favor and deal with a more respectful bank.
