I have been reliable PNC customer for the last 8 years. While I have had several complaints in the past, nothing has frustrated me to the point of writing a review. I have been living abroad for the last 8 months and traveling extensively. I have continually updated my account to approve such travel. However, three days ago, for no apparent reason, they 'red-flagged' my recent purchases and froze my cards without warning. I have repeatedly messaged their customer service agents to no avail and was finally told to use the chat or call directly.

I have been checking the chat roughly once every hour for the last two days and it is always closed. I only have a Spanish phone number and my plan does not permit international calls so I am unable to call PNC's help number. As they are a very limited, US based bank, there is no international call number. Because of this fiasco, I have been unable to purchase food and necessities and have been unable to book reservations for upcoming travel plans. If I could give PNC less than 1 star, I would.

In early 2018, PNC pressured me into getting another VISA credit card explaining that they could offer me a significantly lower rate. I planned on transferring my activity from the higher rate card to PNC's card. I was not transferring any significant balance (<$200). I tried to use their card for a cash advance at the branch in Allentown, Pennsylvania near Cetronia Road. They declined to do so - which is their right. And I called to cancel the card - which had absolutely no balance on it - which was my right. PNC Visa refused to cancel the card after the first call. And after several more phone calls, they told me they canceled it but would not send me confirmation. Two weeks after that call, PNC sent me a letter confirming the card was active and they were updating my address. I had better success with a PNC branch in Rockville.

They kept calling me over and over again about transactions that I made on my account. They even denied my transactions claiming that it was a protection policy and they eventually compromised my account without even asking me. Now I have to get a totally new number and change all of my credit card information for every website and for work and school. B.S.

I received a check from the college I attend and just last week cashed a check with no issue at the PNC on W Broad St in Columbus, Ohio. Today I went in with the same type of check (nowadays schools disperse checks in two payments, back to back) and received a lead worker named James. He gave me a hard time and said he needed to verify the check. Ok. I inform him that the gentleman next to him cashed the same check for more less than 2 weeks ago. He pretends to call and verify the check and after it ringing for about 10 seconds makes an moron comment that they are closed on a Friday at 1pm! Idiot.

I called PNC and they said that they are sorry and it is at the discretion of the teller to cash a check or not! I asked and what discretion would that be?! The guy had no reason not to. I smell good, I’m dressed nice, I conducted myself professionally. I have a professional desk job! Only thing I can think of is I am a minority! Don’t use PNC! If they can’t verify their own checks what in the world are they doing in the business?! Their own checks have no credibility then you know it can’t be that great of a bank. Highly disappointed! Won’t take my business nor my family’s back!!!

Opened up a student account back in 2015 only to be told that they have no record of such activity. The worst part is that they do not seem to care or dont want to be bothered with a faulty situation made on their behalf. The integrity of PNC is compromised in my opinion. I will take my bank affairs elsewhere.

I thought PNC was a good bank until I woke up one morning with my bank account -70$ because of their crappy system. I talked to them on the phone and they had no concern whatsoever about trying to help me, all they wanted to do was tell me my transactions like I hadn't already seen them or couldn't get on my app and look at them. I have emails and texts proving their system was the reason I am in the negative status but they didn't care. OH and I still have to pay them for crap that was completely their fault! I am never going back! I wish I had've listened when everyone told me not to go through PNC!

I had a car loan with PNC arranged by the dealer. I have never had an account or a loan with PNC before and what the heck. I traded the car on March 13 2019. The dealer had PNC fax over the 15 day payoff. So, we have it writing from PNC. I buy new car, Dealer pays off loan within 15 days (payment due on the 27th of March, 15th day after new car purchase). Plenty of time for the dealer to pay the old loan in full. What could wrong?

3 Days after the paid off loan payment was due, I get a call from an unknown number. I didn't answer, no voice message, another call same day, I didn't answer, no voice message. So I decided to look up the number. It was PNC. The next day another call from PNC, I was busy and didn’t answer and no voicemail. Again the same day, another call from PNC. This is 4 calls in 2 days, what the heck is going on. I answered. It was their collection department. Then proceeded to tell me I was late on my car payment (I have an 800 credit score, for a reason.) and demanded I make a payment over the phone now. I politely explained the car was traded and I will not be making a payment and the dealer has paid the loan in full and PNC collections department needs to check with their loan department.

I was then treated like a piece of loan dodging, criminal as they explained to me again my payment was late and I need to make it now. (Really? 3 days? Are you kidding me?) Well Again, I refused to make the payment (beware of this banking scam because if you think if you overpay you will get it back in 3 days, I doubt it, if you even see it) and then told them to never call me again that it is called collection harassment and against the law and if they had something they needed to communicate with me, then they could send me a letter of late notice. Again they said they would call me as much as they wanted and they were not breaking the law. (They are, I looked it up. Every state is different. In my state it is.)

I again explained the car was traded (a very reputable new car dealer). They said they didn’t care and again I need to pay them now. I again refused and told them to call the dealer. They told me to call. I hung up. Ok, I called the dealer. The dealer mailed them the payoff check on the 20th of March. 7 days after the trade and 7 days before the payment was due. They had the money. Ok, No more worries. Then the dealer looked up to see if the check had cleared, it hadn’t cleared. Come to find out, PNC sent the check back to the dealer stating it was short a few $$$ and wanted a new check for a specific amount.

Wait, this was all done with a 15 day payoff 7 days before maybe 4 or 5 before the 15 day payoff amount. How can this be? Scam? I think so. Milk the dealer for a few extra bucks knowing if they want the title, the dealer would have to pay the ransom. PNC could have cashed the check and asked for the balance before the title could have been sent. Come on PNC, it’s not like you have never closed a loan for a new car dealer before or the dealer is going to rip PNC off. So the next day the dealer sent another check for the amount requested using next day delivery.

The next day they called again, I didn’t answer, no voice message. They called again same day. (6 times in 3 days) So I answered again, same collection assault and tactics, rude, degrading, attitude and insulting. I then asked for a manager, which was like pulling teeth but they finally sent me to a manager but only after I had to repeat 15-20 time “transfer me to a manager”. Well, the manager was just as rude as the 1st tier grunts. I then proceeded to tell him to never contact me again. It was illegal, send me a letter if you need something. Again, they didn’t want to hear anything except how I was going to make a payment I didn’t owe that was 4 days past due but was paid.

Finally I was so mad I made it clear and confirmed it was being recorded (just in case I had to get a lawyer involved). I then stated, in no calm voice, they were never to contact me again via phone. They were in violation of collection laws. I knew they refused payment and sent the check back to the dealer just to try to collect more interest on a loan and even scam me out of addition payment money that I did not owe because when they sent the check back to the dealer, they were in fact refusing payment...

I told them if they ever called me again, my next conversation would be with a lawyer who would then contact them with a court date. Never, ever deal with bank, even if you have a higher interest rate. I will never deal with PNC again and I have advised everyone I know about this event and PNC scam tactics and practices.

I have been a co-signer on a student loan for nearly twenty years. Every time a payment needed to be made, I stepped up and made the payment. Then I became disabled and had to retire. Though I still made payments when I was required to do so. PNC decided the balance of about $4000 needed to be paid immediately. Since I had lost half of my income I couldn't pay that amount. However, I did pay $1000 that caught my nephew up on the account. At that time, the collection agency agreed that they would not report me to the Credit Bureau. That was lie #1. I tried to refinance my mortgage for lower interest, but cannot because of this.

I just spoke to Marcia from PNC, who said she could not remove this from my credit report. Lie #2. Lie #3 is that you would be informed of this reporting. Marcia didn't take into consideration all of the payments I'd made over the years, nor did she show an ounce of compassion. So all of my years of hard work, and excellent credit is down the tubes. Of course I do not recommend PNC Bank. And unfortunately, when Marcia gets old, she will remember why she has so many financial struggles. Miss Gail

The WORST customer satisfaction. When I complained about customer service the answer I got was "due to the high points they give, it is too expensive to provide customer service."

Called several times and wrote online but after several people to escalate was told cap is now $6. Couldn't wouldn't do anything. So be warned - call before you use the reward and takes names.

Been on phone way to long as it is, I keep having to call back because I am on hold so long the call drops or they hang up trying to answer. They are not trained enough or not staffed with enough employees but took me over an hour on phone just to dispute transactions where someone took my money. In total may take me a month to get it back. Last legal transaction I authorized was Hulu by the way.

Looks like I will have to call them again because it looks like I can't establish an online account unless I have a bank account with PNC. I came to this bank to withdraw money from my account. Instead I received rude, unprofessional, and incompetent services from the branch manager. When told they didn't have a sufficient amount of funds available -- I subsequently asked for a lower amount of $2500. The branch manager stayed in his chair and literally 'rolled' in his chair over to the teller I was working with and stated, 'I'm not giving you this amount of money, get it from the ATM.'

First I told him about his rude behavior then I explained to him the policy and procedures of his own banking system that you could not withdraw that much money from the ATM. I then had to tell this 'so-called' branch manager that the procedure was for him to call and verify the funds were available and then he had to give me my money! He did call to verify the funds after I told him what to do. I was then given my money. Mind you this was all in front of customers! Unbelievably incompetent for it to be a branch manager! I reported him immediately!

I've never been so disrespected or offended in my life by anyone or any business. Not only will I never bank here, but I will also be going out of my way to dissuade anyone from ever banking with PNC after how my friend and I were treated at PNC at this location in Bay City. My friend's husband passed away in a tragic car accident a few days ago, and a GoFundMe was being prepared, and my friend has no checking account so we ran to PNC before closing, about 15 minutes before close to ask if they could accommodate us because it was urgent and frankly an emergency because she was low on funds.

My friend has a 4-year-old son and is pregnant with her second. We told the banker about our situation, but he refused to help. He wasn't explaining why, and it came off like he didn't want to versus he couldn't. I got heated and explained the situation and asked if he could please make an exception this one time but he said there was nothing he could do and to come back in the morning. I was very upset and asked him why he couldn't help us, and the tellers overhearing the situation began laughing at me and my friend.

I turned and asked, "Are you really laughing at me?" I was holding back tears, and they replied, "Yes, we are laughing at how you're acting." I was stunned, disgusted, and disturbed. The banker, not coming to our defense in any way, showing no remorse, sympathy or even a shimmer of condolences hands her a PNC pen and says coldly, "You can do it yourself online if you want or come back in the morning."

I called PNC customer service to file a complaint and they explained to us that at 5 pm the system shuts down, and they wouldn't be able to complete the opening the checking account anyway. Finally! This is an explanation I could understand and work with, but that is not what the banker or the laughing tellers said whatsoever. It was a basic checking account and it was an emergency. The least the banker could have done is offered a sensible explanation to us rather than treat us like we were lying or inconveniencing him. It was a horrible feeling, and I felt so bad for my friend who just lost her husband. I've never been treated like this at any establishment in my entire life. Stay away from these heartless and unprofessional people, and go to Chase or even better yet, a community bank.

I am not a PNC customer. With that being said I will never be a PNC customer. I had to use my debit card at a PNC ATM. The machine retained my card on a Friday evening. The next day the banks were closed so I went in Monday morning to get my card. Now customer service had originally told me that the bank should be able to just give me my card back. Well they did not and per their policy because I am not a PNC Bank member their policy is to shred my card. So here I am stuck out of town with no Bank of my own in this town. No way to get funds out of my account because PNC Bank is going to shred my card because I'm not their customer.

Now I'm here with no access to any of my money for 5 to 7 business days until my new card is sent to my address because PNC Bank will not give me my card back. Now if I was a PNC banking customer they would have went right to the ATM taking my card out and giving it to me but because I'm not they will shredding my card. I opened a checking account with this Crooked institution because I received a small check for $3000 dollars that was a PNC check. I asked if they could cash it, and they said that they would, for a 2 percent (60 dollar fee)! So, I said that I would just open an account. This was Saturday. I managed to get 500 dollars from the branch of my own money from the branch to pay an emergency expense. Today, Monday, I have a zero balance. I phoned in, and their rep. said the funds will be available Wednesday! Tuesday, 100 dollars will be available. I said, how can this be? The check is drawn on PNC!!! They said, it is their standard policy. What a disgusting institution! If I close the account, there is a $25 early withdrawal penalty, so I need to wait 6 months.

After 6 months, I will close this account. Since PNC does respond to Better Business Bureau, I am considering complaining to my state's Department of Banking and Insurance. Hopefully, enough people will realize how devoid of honesty or integrity this bank is, and close their accounts en masse. If only I would have seen these overwhelming negative reviews of this bank to begin with, I could have saved myself so much aggravation. I opened the a high yield savings account online in the last week of February. I was waiting for my money to come in the following week in March. I initiated a bank to bank transferor at Bank of America on the morning at around 6am. My bank informed me the next day March 6th that the transfer was completed and gave me the transaction number. Since I have been calling PNC bank savings representatives. They keep on telling they don’t know where the money is. On Friday of last I talk to a senior representative and he said not to worry and money will soon appear my account with interest from the day it got transferred.

Today the money is the account but no history of when got it. I called PNC bank and got another representative who informed me that hold my money for five days without any interest. This so crooked and no one told me that till today. I could not get a hold of the Manager apparently convenient not able to take the phone call. The representative however promised that she would call me within a 24 hr period. I think since PNC is NYSE traded stock I would call the SEC fraud department, the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau and FDIC to let them know how PNC is defrauding millions of people with this practice.

It is absurd that the 6th largest bank would indulge in this fraudulent practice but then there was Wells Fargo. I will update what happened on this page. My advice to all is ask as many questions as possible and if you feel compelled to open an PNC account at least you have someone that told you all about the High Yield savings account. This so fraudulent that it would bring down the Bank.

I have banked with PNC for years and never had a problem until two weeks ago when my bank account was hacked and a large amount of money transferred out. In dealing with the fraud department and my local bank I am appalled at the lack of professionalism and total lack of communication between the fraud department and the bank. I caught the fraud the day the withdraws were made. I called the fraud department and was only able to speak with their credit card fraud as their account fraud department is not open 24/7 (I guess fraud only hits Monday - Friday 8-10 and Saturday until 4:30). The withdrawals were still pending. The credit card fraud representative told me it was obvious blatant fraud but he could only put a hold on my account and I would have to go to the bank the next morning to file a fraud report.

Next morning I went to the bank and it was such a joke. Nobody knew how to handle the fraud. “I’ve never seen this before” was a phrase I heard more than once. No hold had been put on my account. They tried calling the fraud department which was closed (this was a Saturday at 11 am EST). They told me they could not put the hold on my account and I would have to call fraud Monday morning to get a hold on my account. I asked them to withdraw my money from the hacked account to another account. They did and gave me receipts. Monday morning I called fraud and asked them to put a hold on my account. They told me my local bank needed to put the hold on my account. I had to call my local bank, who told me that I had to call the fraud department because they could not put a hold on my account. At this point I found out that the transfer of money in my hacked account was not complete.

My money had been left in the account unprotected for the fraudster to perpetuate. The lady at the bank reprimanded me that I should have done a cash transfer. The bank made the transfers for me! I just got a letter today saying that I rescinded my claims which I never did. I got the letter on a Saturday after the local bank and fraud department are closed. Almost my entire checking account was drained, and I am very disappointed with the lack of professionalism and communication of PNC. It should not be my job to be the intermediary between the bank and their own fraud department. Once I receive my money back I will be moving to another bank. I have lost all trust in the competency of PNC. Every other financial institution I work with has 24/7 customer service. Fraud does not work 9-5, neither should the fraud department. Sorely disappointed in PNC. Do not trust their ‘0 fraud liability.’

My home loan was bought by PNC and I was already nervous by looking at all these reviews. Within 3 months I started receiving letters saying that my Hazard Insurance was not sufficient and to contact my Insurance company. I called my company and they checked and said that I'm actually OVER insured. So I call PNC and tell them this information and that they can check with my insurance company. They tell me "Oh, you need to be insured for the entire principal." I asked why, considering the last 3 companies that had my loan told me that you only need to be insured for the building and surrounding structures (which I am). I told him the difference is the land itself. I was told it needs to be the full loan. I think my response was, "Why? Because a sinkhole will appear and suck up my entire plots of land along with the house?"

I was given the usual line of "It's company policy, sir." Now I don't blame the client rep at all who remained professional and polite and I made it clear that my frustrations were not directed him. But I said, "I hope someone IS listening on this recorded line because your policies are ridiculous and I'm sorry you have to work with such a terrible company." He told me either I had to increase the coverage or they would take out coverage on my behalf and take the costs out of my escrow.

End of the story, I had to call my insurance company back and ask them to increase my coverage (much to their surprise). So now, I'm paying an extra $400 in premiums for something no other loan company asked from me and never had a problem with. The first opportunity I have I will be refinancing with another company and I advise anyone considering a loan to NOT use PNC.

If your account overdrafts, they charge you $36 per day. It's not a one time fee, it is going to be charged every day till your account is in positive standing. So, if you put $36 on the first day and it reaches your account next day, you are again in negative standing because of the new fee charged. This is the stupidest bank I have ever banked with. Not making this mistake ever again.

PNC took the money out of my checking immediately however, they did not record this transaction for 48 hours and so I'm charged yet another $38 late fee on top of the 31 percent interest rate they charge. They also charge me "Miscellaneous" bank fees monthly that they cannot explain other than they are "miscellaneous". I will be changing banks as I can't afford to bank with PNC any longer.

I had a car accident late December 2018. I make what SHOULD have been my last payment the day of my accident so that I can be ahead of my bill. I’ve been making my payments 13 days ahead of time ever since I got the stupid car. My BRAND NEW 2018 Chevy Equinox is deemed a total loss through my insurance. Fine. I get my Gap total loss claim, insurance claim, and cancelled warranty ready to go first thing late January 2019. February comes around and they only deposit my one check from Gap for 13k+. The payments are all due by the 13th. I had everyone overnight all checks to this stupid bank almost 2 weeks before. I call them and ask if they’ve seen my insurance check for 27k and they tell me yes and that it was in “processing”. This was the week of the 13th when it was due.

EVERY IDIOT I TALKED TO SAID IT WAS THERE. One idiot told me it was received on the 12th, another idiot told me it was received on the 13th, and another idiot told me it was received on the 14th, then they all told me it would reflect for the 13th. FAST FORWARD TO THE 19th, mind you I’m finding out all this information myself by calling them instead of the other way around, another idiot tells me that the check was wrong and had to be fixed but it’ll still reflect for the payment due date and will be processed on the account by the end of the week. Fine.

The end of the week comes, I don’t see anything on my account. Mind you, I had been calling at least every day to find out more and kept getting the run around. I call again and you know what another idiot/REP tells me? THERE’S NO FREAKING RECORD OF THEM EVER HAVING THE CHECK. A check worth 26k freaking dollars. ARE. YOU. SERIOUS. And now they’re saying that they also can’t find my dealership warranty check for 3k. This situation is currently being handled by their “Escalations” group to review every phone call I’ve had with these stupid people and I have most definitely informed them that I will be taking this to court.

I refuse to make another payment on this nonexistent car when I’ve done everything right. There is proof of everything and right now the balance is racking up interest for absolutely no reason at this point. I can’t believe that these people are so bad when it comes to mishandling money. They told me that their research department is going through “changes” but that is no excuse. After reading these reviews and the class action lawsuits that are currently taking place against PNC, it’s clear to see why. They and anyone involved with this fraudulent bank can kiss my royal.

I opened up a business checking account at the branch located at 2217 W Market St, Bloomington, IL 61705 with Branch Manager **. I opened up the account because I am new to the area and doing business there. I also started on another sub business under my current business which is a property preservation company. My sub was going to be business to business collection. I informed Mrs. ** that it was new to me and I knew very little about the workings of it worked but was learning how to do it. She asked me if I knew how much money would be going into the account. I told her I was not sure but I told her possibly big sums and doing wire transfers to pay the money to the company we were suppose to be working for.

I asked her how much could we deposit at one time and how long it would take for a check to clear, she said, "You can deposit any amount and for the first 30 days it will take 2 days for a check to clear because it was a new account, then after thirty days it will take 1 day for a check to clear." She said there were no holds on wire transfers, money orders and or cash. So I began my new business adventure and received, a check in the mail for over $79,000, I take it to PNC Bank the next day and deposit it. The gentleman that works there runs the check and begins to inform me there would be a longer hold on the check. Mrs. ** comes out of her office to say, "It could be but check your account in 2 days" before I spend anything further confirming she told me 2 day hold.

Now the reason the hold is important to me because I had already told the client that I was working for it would take 2 days for the check to clear, I did not care if it was 2, 5, or 10 days just give me the accurate information so I can inform my client when they would get paid. It resulted in me having to give them different dates which cost me the client because it appeared as if I didn't know what I was doing. The check was reversed back to the payees account by the payee and PNC Bank closed my account with no warning, no investigation till after the fact. They concluded and said the check that was received was fraudulent and although after 2 business days the check that was deposited was my ledger balance. Also PNC did not return or stop the check. They were not even aware that the check was reversed until I informed them.

So now if it was FRAUDULENT as they claimed how come the bank manager ** did not know it until I informed her that my payee reversed the check back to his account. So they closed my account made me pay for a bounce check that never bounced and sent me a cashiers check in my business name. I went to cash the cashiers check at the same location 2217 W Market St, Bloomington, IL 61705 only to be told they could not cash the CASHIERS CHECK THAT THEY SENT TO ME THE OWNER because it was in the business name oh and they wanted to charge me 2% to cash a cashiers check that they sent me. So now I am taking this as far as I can take it and will not stop because this is horrible.

The individual could not or would not explain why I was charged but said he would reverse it that day and call me. A week later nothing so I tried online help.

I had to look at multiple statements to figure out how PNC Fee'd me. Turns out the bank believes in a 26 day month. This happened to start on a Saturday - the day after a direct deposit, and end on a Thursday - the day before another direct deposit. I find this behavior quite odd and I'm sure a lot of people paid the fee without question. It took a lot of pushing through the online help to get the fee reversed. They absolutely didn't want to. Frustrated, we got up and left, walking out the door I called PNC Corp. and spoke to the same women that told I could go there. She apologized and said, "No that lady is incorrect, I will call her. Can you go back in there." We turned around by this time it is about 4:40 pm. She kept me on hold while she called her. When she came back to me she said now she said she will do it but doesn't have time today, but could get me in tomorrow at 1. I told them had she of done it in the first place she would of had time. I've been using PNC Bank for a while now and have recently hit a rough patch in my life drastically altering the amount of money I make. With that said keeping track of my money is more important than ever and I probably didn't notice this bank's dirty accounting schemes, because I didn't have to or they like to take advantage of the poor.

Problem one - let's say I have $30 in my account, no pending transactions, their virtual wallet app clearly shows that I have $30 as my main account balance. I make a $10 purchase, check my account and the money is deducted from the main account balance, instantly. Yet there is still a pending action from that transaction. Regardless, 30 - 10 = 20, yeah? So I'll go make another $10 dollar purchase, instantly deducted, a pending transaction shows, main account balance shows $10. 20 - 10 = 10, yeah? So, the next day, I wake up and I have $-10 showing as my main account balance?!?! And I'm hit with overdraft fees. They are stealing money from people because they cannot accurately keep track of transactions.

Problem two - So I got the ** of this and decided to take my money out in cash as soon as I deposited a check leaving $5 in my account to avoid it being overdrafted or shut down. They will charge me $6 for some ** bank fee causing overdraft fees to occur. Problem three - deposit a check and they say it will be cleared the next day. Next day comes around, no money in my account. I have to wait and they charge me overdraft fees.

Problem Four - deposited a check and had the ability to make it an instant deposit. Paid the instant deposit fee, the transaction wasn't instant leaving me to wait until the next day and I'm still charged for the instant transaction fee. Problem Five - I wrote a bad review of this bank on Google Play, the next day my account is shut down and I'm on the phone for 9 hrs and talk to four different people who give me three different answers. I'm forced to go into their branch office and the guy tells me my account was shut down because I haven't deposited money into my savings account for 6 months so the system automatically shuts accounts down. **, I've had an account with this bank for years and never deposited money into my savings and never had a problem. They shut my account down because I wrote a bad review.

I'm currently waiting for my account to be overdrafted because of all the issues stated above, compounded together. I am now looking into starting the process of a class action lawsuit against PNC Bank for negligence and taking advantage of people, they are stealing money from people. These are just a few of the issues I'm having with this bank, I haven't even touched upon the discrimination of cryptocurrency users.

As I read the reviews I almost decided it wasn't worth the time to air my complaint. With a one Star rating it seems that I will be looking to move my 4 accounts and credit card to another bank. Both of my sons also have accounts. I purchased a 400.00 golf club on Amazon from Vertical Groove in February and it broke in October. I tried contacting Vertical Groove with no success and Amazon only wants to credit me 319.00. I called PNC credit card and after a long hold told my story and then was transferred after another long hold and retell the story that they only help you for up to 60 days. The lesson we are starting to learn is when we will only be able to buy things online we will be stuck when products fail. We will have no options. I will seek info on different banks and credit cards to see their policies and then make a move. Goodbye PNC. You don't need me.

My husband and I have banked with PNC for many years. For the FIRST time in my checking history - I made a mistake (yup, a human error) and forgot to xfer savings money into my checking account on time before the check was cashed. It’s the holidays. 5 days away from Christmas to be exact. I work in one of the companies where our busiest seasons is NOW. I attend school and work second shift. Well, the funds WERE there. Just not in the correct account. You think some type of understanding would be considered. ESPECIALLY that this has NEVER happened to us before. But no. It was a solid NO, several times from the management at customer service to waive the $40.00 overdraft fee. Is it the $40.00? Not necessarily, but the very principle. And then it’s “Merry Christmas” to end the call. Yeah, thanks PNC for giving an overall financially responsible customer a break after ONE mistake was made. Thanks.

I called many times over a 6 week period and finally through a USPS paper trail had an account set up with PNC but not online yet. That process took another 2 weeks of spending hours on the phone after being transferred multiple times. Their phone tree service is also very poor to get to talk to the right person who knows anything about this product.

The representatives does not know the process of opening a PNC High Yield Savings account as they ask for a pin number which they are not able to issue or get timed out when they do. My call got disconnected during the security questions as well. I finally got set up to only find out that PNC is not set up for joint accounts for high-yield saving on-line accounts even though their website says they are.

I have $600.00 in that account and $2000.00 in total between my checking and two other savings accounts. I saw a $10.00 charge assessed today and called customer service as to why. I was told a big lie tonight; I was shocked when the pleasant woman, after putting me on hold for several minutes, told me that a $5000.00 minimum balance in my Premier Money Market account is required. I have rarely had the luxury of having that amount of money in an account. Furthermore, the woman told me that I have been assessed the charge for years. I reviewed my statements. False statement. Well, this BS pretty much seals the deal. Leaving PNC tomorrow and going to another bank. I don't do business with people who lie. Period. End of story.

I didn’t even have a chance to put money in the account on the 12th because I had a positive balance & not overdraft emails or notifications until 7 am. So why the heck should I be punished? I posted a photo as my proof. You can see the screenshot of my picture at 1:08 on 12-13. I got the overdraft notification the next day. They are suppose to notify me the day I overdraft my account.

Mind you, its 2 weeks before Christmas & now I have to pay $123.89 to PNC because they are stingy. Good thing I went shopping November for Christmas gifts or I would have no gifts under the tree for my 2 year old son on Christmas Day. Even the bank manager agreed it was harsh (even when she had the opportunity to eliminate at least one of the overdraft fees). I’m gonna go to KeyBank. No overdraft fees & I’ll get money for opening a new account. What a very sad business. To charge a single mother more than double what my original overdraft was. Merry Christmas PNC Bank! I opened an online account there on 12/5. They took 2 days to "approve" my account then sent me a letter with the only last 4 digits of the account number. You need the full account number to log on the first time, so this was worthless. I called and had to be transferred three times and go through the full ID process each time. Everyone I spoke to was unfriendly and robot-like. When I finally lost it when asked to ID myself the third time, the guy lectured me about how I was speaking to him but finally provided me with my account number.

After going through a lengthy registration process with more disclosures, I get to my account and find out that there is no trace of the transfer I requested when I opened the account six days ago. And the account I transferred from isn't on the "transfer from" account list. I called and they told me it takes 5 - 10 days to complete an online transfer. SERIOUSLY? Most banks take no more than 3-4 days and my primary savings bank, PurePoint Financial does it in 1 day! PNC's rate is currently .2% above PurePoint's but it's NOT worth the aggravation I have had to go through. I'll leave the $100 I funded the account with (if it ever shows up that is!) in there for the 180 days to prevent the $25 "early closure fee." I was going to move a lot more money when I opened the account, but PurePoint Financial wasn't on the list of banks I could transfer from... I should have realized that it was a sign NOT to do it... I had read a few concerning reviews but because of the highest available interest decided to go for it anyway. Terrible mistake. The approval of the account went smoothly but then the ongoing frustration continued to mount. Even though the account was approved, I couldn't transfer any money into the account for 5 business days. Now understand, I was trying to put the money in, not take it out. Once I was able to transfer money in, it had to be done in $75k increments per day. The maximum amount that can be deposited in 30 days is $250k. I wanted to deposit $375k. As you can see PNC seems to be doing everything possible to keep me from doing business with them.

By the way, I talked with several people with the bank, going all the way to management, and there was no willingness to allow me to move forward in depositing my $375k in their bank. So if you decide to go with them anyway, make sure you stay under the $75k amount and don't think PNC will make it easy. Just so you'll know, I was able to move my money into another bank just the way I wanted to do it without any of the above problems. Yes, it was a slightly lower interest rate but if there was this much trouble depositing the money in PNC, I can't imagine what other issues could have arose in trying to get my money out.

I attempted to make my credit card payment via the telephone automated system without success. And subsequently was put on hold for more than 20 minutes while attempting to pay via a customer service representative, resulting in a late payment scenario. Background: PNC does offer a late payment exception but contains very strict guidelines. They employ a very inconvenient on time payment cutoff of 6 p.m. (E.S.T.)! I have 6-8 credit cards, with American Express, Citicards, Chase, & Bank of America among others, and in all cases there is a cut off time for on time payments with the earliest being 8 p.m. (E.S.T.) up to 11: 59 p.m. (E.S.T.)... very manageable and understandable.

I explained what caused my problem to pay my bill on time to the PNC representative I spoke with and the supervisor I requested. In both cases no attempt to understand the inability I had to make my payment on time due to a problem with PNC’s automated system as well as excessive hold time to reach a representative was acknowledged. They simply guided me to alternative payment options, for which, I had also made attempts in paying my credit card bill to no avail, explaining such to both persons employed by PNC. The result with both representatives was a less than sincere sounding: “I’m sorry that you had such an experience but there’s nothing we can do to change anything.”

Wow, that’s the epitome of customer service and a real effort to retain a long standing card holder as I am, as well as a PNC Bank customer of long standing! I strongly plead anyone reading this account to take heart in what my distasteful experience was and is with PNC credit card services, as it’s obvious that this corporation has taken advantage of a customer’s failure no matter the nature of unavoidable circumstances leading to such was. He/she clearly made no attempt to reconcile the problem in a satisfactory manner. As a result do I plead with you as a potential PNC customer to consider opening a credit card account instead with one of the alternatives listed above — you’ll be much more satisfied!

The ATM malfunctioned by accepting my deposit but the transaction was not completed as my receipt was not printed nor was the funds credited to my account. An error message came on the screen of ATM machine stating that no more than 50 bills can be entered at a time and the machine returned only a small portion of my deposit but kept the majority of my deposit. My deposit was under 20 counted bills. The machine then read that ‘service has been called’. I called out for someone at the branch to assist and was ushered to a banker who informed me that there was nothing that he could do since the bank does not service the ATMs and proceeded to call into the claims department.

I was visibly upset because the deposit was intended to pay bills that was due. The claims representative on the phone could not offer any assistance other than inform me that it will take 10 business days for an investigation and for my funds to be credited to me. Ten days later does not help me! I asked the banker if he could view the cameras to confirm my deposit and he responded no. I then asked to speak with the Branch Manager and I was told that the manager already left for the day, so he was the only one who could offer assistance in which he did not! I left the branch upset of course and I went to Wells Fargo to deposit the remainder of my funds that I intended for PNC.

At Wells Fargo I advised the banker what happened and he stated that I should’ve been offered Provisional Credit due to the situation and advised that I file a complaint. I called my best friend who previously worked in the banking field and she stated the same as Wells Fargo and also stated that this was standard procedure. Why was I not offered Provisional Credit at PNC? The banker at PNC did not care and was relieved when I left the bank. Once this issue clears up, I will not continue my business with the bank. Even though 2 previous supervisors said they would. He stated in the noted it only stated $3 and some cents would be adjusted which made no sense, but I asked why isn't that adjusted then. I had given my savings account by accident to my rental portal instead of my checking account. I had called because the portal kept taking money and did a stop payment from everything from that company. Well, the first rep only did a stop payment for the rent amount and not everything that was supposed to come from that company! So the portal tried to take out a fee for $20 and that kept giving me NSF fees three times. When I called again the second rep stated the first rep didn't do a stop payment for everything! So he did but fees kept coming out and today when I called a manager at escalation he refused to understand and listen that the first rep didn't do the entire job like he was supposed to. Otherwise nothing should be allowed to come from the portal!

Those fees should be taken care of by PNC but he wouldn't listen and kept saying, "I'm sorry there isn't anything more I can do. I won't reimburse the NSF because you did call in twice before but it takes a few days from the actual date you put the stop payment through before the NSF is activated, sorry can't help you!" That is what he kept saying, said he understood but he just said that, they all say that but if he did he would have helped and he didn't. So because the first rep didn't do his job I have to pay for it? Thanks but no thanks... I can see why PNC only has a one star rating!

Nevertheless, I was charged an overdraft because I had inputted the information of my savings account instead of my checking entirely by mistake. I explained to them that I obviously had money in my checking account and that it obviously wasn't intentional yet, they rejected forgiving my fee because I had been forgiven before (more than a year ago) and that somehow barred me from getting more. These overdraft fees were never intentional and were a result of a school loan system that would continually change my account without permission and the business would not return the deducted amount. It's ridiculous what businesses are allowed to get away with nowadays!

Then the PNC customer representative promised me that he would help me remove the late fee. Today when I checked my account. The late fee was not refunded. I called them. The representative named Austin (in the acceleration support team) told me he could not help and later hung up my phone call. Since PNC could not help, why did they say they would previously? I was shocked by Austin’s attitude because never had I met such a rude customer support!

I do my banking online through the PNC app and it's caused me overdraft charges due to latency of charges showing up and I noticed the last time and this time that dates of money going in and out have changed. Sure it's just negative a few dollars but PNC will charge you $30 something dollars on any amount overdrawn and then $7 until you can straighten it out. This bank is garbage, go anywhere but here.

Any complaints I had could only be handled locally. She wouldn't even forward my complaint to the District Manager only the Branch. I have been an account holder for years since PNC took over RBC with whom I had been a long-term customer. I have personal and business accounts. Last month the bank canceled my 2 business accounts and personal account without notice. This caused numerous recurring payments to bounce and prevented me from accessing cash while traveling in Mexico, during the week it happened. Upon return, I was advised that my accounts were closed because the bank was missing information regarding my citizenship (I am a green card holder) and I needed to take various pieces of ID to the local branch. Which I did. After an hour with the local rep, and him on the phone with HQ, it was determined that they did, in fact, have all the ID on file and that the accounts should not have been closed in the first place!

I was advised that the total amount of funds (approx $50k) were being sent to me via cashier's checks and that I could redeposit them after I received them. 2 days later, while back in the branch the rep came to me to say the checks had NOT been sent at all, but that the funds had been restored into my account. Evidently, they had no idea where the money was, let alone what they were doing. The local rep did advise that he would request a refund of the charges I incurred for the bounced payments. This remains to be seen. I also am concerned that my personal credit history will be affected by this. Regardless, not only was I put in a difficult position while traveling with no access to cash, I have spent several hours of my time sorting out a mess that was theirs to start with and should never have happened in the first place. This is inexcusable.

One typographical error, one penny short, caused us to have our health insurance cancelled for three months in arrears. We had no idea we did not have health insurance, all because of a one penny error. On another occasion, our credit card payment was paid by PNC Online Banking. We received a confirmation that the check was issued and sent two days before the due date. Received our next statement and found out that the credit card company never received the check and assessed us interest fees. We always pay our bill in full every month. When I asked if PNC would stop payment on the missing check, I was told they were not responsible.

I've been a customer for 10+ years, but due to some recent major problems, I am now taking steps to close my account for good. The first problem: I fell on hard times this January because I did not get paid that month, so I bounced some checks. I got charged fees, which is understandable. However, I had a hard time paying back the fees, so it led to Continuous OD charges that added up fast. I ended up losing over $200 in fees because of this. When I finally got paid, what I owed plus the fees came out. Since this, it's been a long uphill battle of trying to catch up: I keep falling short, overdrawing, and then get charged even more fees. According to my last statement, I have amassed over $900 worth of OD and COD fees this year. That is not counting returned check fees or stop payment fees.

I tried to discuss this with PNC multiple times, but they keep giving me the run-around. They suggest features that have NOTHING to do with my situation ("have you considered paying your bills through online banking?") or tell me to sign up for OD protection - which I can't do because I don't have the money for a savings account, and they won't approve me for the credit card. I even signed up for an escalation and the guy that was supposed to call me asked for my availability - then proceeded to completely ignore it and called when I wasn't available.

The second problem: a payday loan company I did business within the past randomly deducted over $600 from my account. I only learned about this when I got a text message alert about it. I called - which is what they say you are supposed to do - and the CSR basically told me that I had to wait until it was cleared to dispute it, which could take days. I later was told by a lawyer that I have the right to revoke ACH permission to that company, so I chatted with a CSR online to talk about it. Surprise surprise, she acted like she had no idea what I was talking about and basically said that I can't stop people from yanking money out of my account. That was the last straw. I'm taking steps to close my account with PNC and I will be taking my business elsewhere. They have let me down for the last time. We are done.

I have dealt with this bank for 3 years and will now be closing my account. I made a cash deposit after hours for a bill that would be automatically taken out the following day. The ATM ate the money without crediting it to my account. The next day, the bill was withdrawed, overdrafting my account and charging a 35$ overdraft fee. After over an hour on the phone explaining the situation, I was told that I would have to file a dispute to get my money back. The woman was very helpful and ensured me that the money would be credited back right away.

The money was credited quickly, but they refused to waive the overdraft fee. I went in person to my local branch to talk to someone about getting the fee waived that same day and was told that I should have taken precautionary measures and the fees were my responsibility. On top of the 35$ fee, they informed me that they would charge an additional 7$ a day for each day the account remains overdrawn. This was all apparently part of an overdraft protection plan that I had declined when opening my account. This bank is a joke and does not care at all about their customers. They charge fee after fee and offer absolutely no protection for customers' accounts. Me and my family will no longer be doing banking with them. PNC is the worst bank I've ever dealt with. I opened an online bank account called a "virtual wallet" with PNC 12 days ago (08/23/2018). According to their enrollment process you have to make an initial deposit in order for the account to be created, and one option is to do a direct transfer from another bank, so I chose that option. I opened the account at night and the money was transferred from my existing account the next morning, but as of this afternoon (9/4/2018) it still hasn't shown up in my PNC account.

I've worked with PNC's online and phone customer service, and they told me that the money was debited before my account was created and then they tried to send it back to the original bank, but neither of these things seems to be true. I'm appalled that the money could simply vanish for 7 business days. To add insult to injury they keep sending me automated notices that my account has a zero balance, along with the usual self-congratulatory spam about what a great bank they are.

I called and reported that one of the transactions reported was fraudulent and it was already reversed, and the customer service agent even refused to take off the fee for that until I insisted. I do not get paid until Saturday, and how many more "continuous overdraft fees" are they gonna charge? I have direct deposit, they know the money is coming, but it's how they make millions and billions off struggling people like me.

When I say I'm going over her head, she just repeats the same speech. Well, here I am! These kinds of practices are unacceptable and in my opinion, this is like stealing from customers. They have lots of policies that don't actually serve anyone but the top people at the company, which is not right. Just because it is listed at the very end of a huge document you signed upon opening the account years ago in tiny font, doesn't mean I am actively agreeing to take their treatment. This is serious stuff. Took time away from my family to call. Very nice person was able to tell me they have a system issue no late fees. They just have no way of letting customer know since it is impacting so many. tThe only way to find out is calling. I called executive response team the next day. They claim it is a company wide issue that they have no way of knowing how much stress it causes me or they do not compensate for my time lost that I will never get again.

I ask to close all my accounts since I have A Heloc. I am told I cannot pay it off early without fees so my only options is to pay fees to close early or to be punished for being a PNC customer for 2 more years. HOW many more mistakes are you allowed to make before it is ok to close my account without fees. Not sure how ethical it is to lock someone into poor customer service for 3 years without having to take legal action because the executive response team does not find the mistake they make serious. I hope the board of directors reads response and others on this website to improve the way they treat customers.

First this: I understand fully that any bank can cancel your account for any reason AND they are not required to disclose the reason (due to the fact that in American lawsuits can happen for any reason). Second: I have been living and working mostly overseas. In the past year have been transferring about 4k USD a month into my Virtual Wallet primary account without a glitch. I am stating this as it is THE ONLY change I had in dealing with my accounts for many years. In June I was notified via mail that my VW accounts would be closed. I called the CS number and was told that it was due to inactivity. I told them there was activity, and explained fully everything that I do with the accounts. They then told me as long as they were being used in the way I described the accounts would not be closed.

So being assured by the CS representative, I jumped on a plane thinking all was okay with my banking partner for the past two decades... Another few weeks go by while overseas and I get email notices that my bank card was being rejected. Another call to the CS... "Oh, the card was cancelled for a reason that could not be disclosed." I said, “Well, reactivate the card”... “NO CAN DO, must send a new one.” “Okay, here is my overseas address”... "Cannot be sent to an overseas address." WHAT? Okay...relax...take a deep breath. I should be okay without the card, I don’t use the card in ATM's and as long as the accounts were okay I would be fine (still overseas). Rep says the accounts are still no problem...I say okay, thank the CS rep and get back to my overseas work...

Another week goes by, now my relative in the US that checks my mail says they have received account closure notice and certified checks with my closed account balances. REALLY? REALLY? I make one final attempt to re-establish a relationship that had been fine for 20 years. Call the CS, have to be sent to some extraordinary incidence department or some such...they say the accounts were closed based on the Bank exercising their right to cancel for ANY reason at ANY time. Cannot tell me why, what, who, or anything else about how they pulled the plug on my bank accounts that had been with them for over 20 years. Well you know what PNC? I am telling EVERY person, EVERY business, that I know how you operate and what you have done. How you lack support, how you cannot service long term customers, and that to you EVERYONE is simply a NUMBER.

My wife was traveling to Tokyo and Korea and we wanted to make sure we can take money out of any bank there by either cash advance or ATM. We were told, "No problem as long as they have the visa logo and/or Global ATM." Well it was not. Because my wife tried a few banks to get money out they then put a block on the account. My wife was having surgery and needed the money to pay for it. She had to borrow money from a friend to do that.

Meanwhile I was in the US and dealing with the bank as to why they blocked her and to increase the limit on ATM withdrawals. Long story short they first dealt with me with no problems. Then later they asked for my wife and we put her on the phone via Kakao Talk. Then they would email me. The area manager called me twice to try and resolve. They unblocked the account but did not raise the limit. I had asked for two days what the problem is. They then asked they had to speak to my wife directly. So I went to the bank and via Kakao video they spoke to my wife. She said among other things that they can speak to me. The manager Marit ** said after wife spoke her that she will put the request in again to raise the limit and get back to me.

Mind you the first reason they denied it was because we were a new account but they knew what we wanted to do when we opened the account. Now because no bank in Korea would do a cash advance my wife had to do ATM withdrawals but need to raise the limit. I didn't hear for a day so I sent an email No response. I sent another email the next day No response. I went in the bank and now the manager Marit ** tells me. "We can not respond to you only your wife." So I filled out the forms with a bank agent called Zane. He also told me that I needed to file a complaint to with the housing department. The information he gave me was false and cost me a lot of time and frustration trying to do what he said. He then denied that he told me to do that. He also failed to submit the forms I filled out and the letters were sent to my old address and never reached me. So the charges were put back onto my account.

I called PNC customer service about this and they said we would have to re submit the claims which was time consuming but I did it. The PNC employee also told me I could change my address to my Italian address by simply faxing a signed letter requesting that which I promptly did only to find out that once again I had wasted my time carrying out incorrect information. I then contacted the escalation department only to find everyone out of the office and when I finally did get someone to help me. They told me the time was up and there was nothing to be done. I had lost over $1,000 due to the negligence of the PNC employees. I have taken out a complaint but as of yet have had absolutely no response from anyone at the bank. I am deeply disturbed my the unprofessionalism of PNC Bank and strongly suggest people to steer clear of using them.

Ok let me start by saying when I first opened acct they was running a promotion. I found out about online but once I went into bank they didn’t tell me about it. Get home call. They tell me I have to close acct and reopen when I had already set up automatic deposits with my job and my human resource dept is located in Denver. I am in Alabama so that was going to be a process and they still wouldn’t waive it and give me the promotion. That was my first flag. When I used my card somewhere and they took it off but then the transaction was missing and showed up days later. Acct got drafted. Was charged NSF fee 36$ and 7$ each day it was in the negative and from what I have read I am not the only one. Wished I had seen this a year or so ago.

Took three phone calls to get it sorted out because she simply did not want to deal with it. Now my account is less than 20.00 and I have three more days of gas and food to provide for a family and how does one make it on that? How do they think this is ok? Why should I have to wait on money that should have been deposited two and a half weeks ago. Why should my family suffer for their mistake? I seriously cannot even believe this. Shame on you PNC!

PNC Bank requirements to automate loan payments grows ever more convoluted and obscure. The customer cannot automate future payments in any amount beyond minimum payment due. Today, a conversation with customer service I learn that the customer cannot make a payment from an external checking account (transfer funds from an external account). When I asked to speak with a supervisor I got a voicemail from one Kelly - who does not work on Fridays!!! What sort of financial institution is this? I echo an earlier commentator: my loan was transferred to PNC. I have never had a good experience with this bank. They always want to know "the amount of my last payment" - something I can't always remember. And if you can't remember - they can't help you.

Here's the cute trick PNC Bank is playing: Say that you made a $1,000 deposit today. Say that you have written three checks, each for $200, that are also presented to the bank today. PNC will allow $100 of your $1,000 deposit to be credited to your account at 11:59 PM. Then, they will present the three checks for $200 each against your account at 11:59 PM. Since you don't have the money in your account to cover the checks, they will charge you a bounce fee of $36 for each check. Then, ONE MINUTE LATER, at 12:00 AM, they will credit the remaining $900 of your deposit to your account. And they cover the three checks so they are not returned (how nice of them, ha), but you just paid them $108 (3 times $36) in bounce fees. What a great bank this is! I wonder where they learned this slick nasty trick? Stay away from this bank!

PNC website badly run and apt to cause you to overdraft. Pending charges are disappearing from the pending list and the money reappearing in your available balance only to have the charge magically reappear and be paid late night on the next banking day. This has gone on for months. I am now screenshotting it daily to prove it, and it happened again today. I am leaving this scam of a bank. I should have done it several years ago when they embarrassed my husband declining his card at a business lunch. Their reason? The charge was coming from Miami Florida.

My husband was standing in Durham North Carolina. 2 hours on the phone person to person. "How many charges were declined, one." "Okay one charge not multiple so that's my husband for sure." "But this charge is coming from Miami Florida and may be fraudulent." "How can it be, if there is one husband one charge?" "Well it's from Miami. Are you sure your husband is not in Miami." "No. He is standing in Durham North Carolina." Over and over and over. Finally I declare there was no Florida not to say Florida to me one more time. Days later I figured out where their stupid computer was going wrong. My husband was in a restaurant on MIAMI BLVD IN DURHAM North Carolina.

Multiple humans and a banking computer couldn't tell the difference between the name of a road and a city in another state. I should have left them then. This disappearing, ram it through at midnight charge scam has gotten me several times this year. If I have to track every little purchase on paper and cannot trust the balance information on the site or on the phone, it may as well not exist. Don't let them anywhere near your money, don't trust the website or phone balance, and do go anywhere to eat with the name Miami anywhere near it because these idiots can't tell the difference.

‪I too would like to share my PNC experience. I am an honest hard working typical American Grandma. PNC bought out National City Bank many years ago and so my loan for my truck swung to PNC Bank whom we finished the loan payments to, all paid off years ago, in full. Apparently someone was lazy with the paperwork. We were still driving the truck until a recent wreck. Suddenly we find we need our title so off we went to our local title office. Found out that “National City” aka PNC Bank still shows a lien on it! Say what?? More than 10 yrs later?? I call PNC so far I have spoken with 4 “Resolution Agents” and someone I keep emailing with here on the help site. Two agents were able to find my information and confirm I owe NOTHING to PNC but yet they have not RELEASED the lien showing on my title.

This whole process began on May 22 and I, thank goodness, have kept all correspondence and audio of phone calls on the matter. Even our local title and tags office says this is appalling. They said for this to happen is not unusual, however all that is required is a letterhead from PNC with the statement saying “nothing owed” including VIN number and model. This is all I have requested - still waiting... Since May 22 (I was originally told it would be 1 to 2 days, nope). Then one agent actually promised this letterhead yesterday, said to give her 45 minutes to fax it! Never came... She also said that they released the lien, so my husband makes another trip to the title office only to find out that just wasn’t true. Now all in the title office says “WHO IS THIS BANK??” He told them. Still we wait for You guys at PNC to get your lien off of my truck. Very, very, very mad Grandma in Hendersonville, TN. I not going to give up or shut up until this wrong is righted!‬

Updated 06/01/2018: Update from mad Grandmother in Hendersonville TN. Another day, another attempt at getting what belongs to me. Today I received a call from “Cathy” and I returned the call. Sympathy and apologies oozed out of her, even agreeing that it shouldn’t have taken this long, but she is here to help and will get that lien release letter to me today! This was noon. It’s 4pm and NO LETTER...I am not surprised at all. Any lawyers out there agree with me that PNC should be fined for each time they PROMISED to correct this “today” and didn’t? After all they are holding something that is mine, not theirs! How about your big wigs over there hand over your wallets to me, and I will just hang onto them for you. That’s fair, at least while you hang onto my truck! STILL WAITING IN HENDERSONVILLE TN and still MAD Grandma.

I have never had an enjoyable experience with PNC. I have banked with them for 10 years, originally opening an account so I could receive direct deposit from my job at the time. During this time, they've changed from National City to PNC and everything has gotten worse and worse. When I started I had a Checking account and a Savings account. When I quit, I had Primary Checking, Standard Checking, Reserve, Growth, Interest Savings, and Spend accounts. Where do these accounts come from? Who needs this many accounts? I went to write a check which I haven't done in years, for a $10 expired parking meter, and the money came out of the Reserve account which I didn't even know I had at the time. The account didn't have any money in it of course, and accumulated $220 worth of overdraft fees. I never noticed until I finally got a call from PNC notifying me of this.

I tried to get them to eschew the fees but still ended up having to pay $150... for a $10 parking meter. I am self employed now and have sporadic income and they charge me $7 a month for every month. I don't have at least $500 in my account. Makes perfect sense to take money from people with no money right? Most recently, after opening a credit union account, I had the most difficult and frustrating time trying to cancel my PNC account. I went to a branch and said I want to cancel, my checking account was overdrawn by $5 so I gave the guy a $5 bill and he said now I had to wait a day to cancel because I had made a transaction. He took my debit card and said to call the next day.

I called the next day and on the phone clearly stated I wanted ALL my accounts cancelled. The person on the phone said that they had successfully cancelled ALL my accounts and that was that. A month later I start getting calls from PNC saying my account is overdrawn... What account? Well they didn't actually cancel my accounts. Just one of the checking accounts - and not even the one linked to the debit card I turned in at the branch. So a recurring bill that I forgot to transfer to my new credit union account came... and accumulated over $100 in fees.

Now after speaking with multiple people on the phone and telling them I am waiting for a refund from the company that charged me, and each of them saying they'd put notes on my file, PNC closed my account themselves and now I'm getting calls from debt collectors. The company who charged me didn't have time to refund my money and now I'm not able to negotiate with PNC about waiving some of the fees and I have to pay the entire fine if I want my credit cleared. It's an absolute mess and the most frustrating experience I've ever had with any company. Do not bank with PNC. You will want to shoot yourself in the head.

He told us the accounts will be mature in 3 years, and I will have guaranteed to at least have my initial investment back. He quit the job in less than 6 month, then my file got transferred to another investor, who quit within 4 weeks.

Now my account is in the hands of the corporate team, whom I contacted multiple times, each time promising to call me back with what is going on with my account, but never did. This last time I called, they told me my maturity date is now 7 year! Again they told me they will do some research and call me back, but I know now that they don't care about their costumer at all, they just want your money and hold it as long as possible with or without your permission. I was told that my credit score was very good and should easily qualify for a loan based on my debt to income ratio. I never heard back from Kara and after leaving numerous messages and contacting the complaint department, Kara returned my call and informed me that the "underwriters won't approve the loan because your contract is only for a year". I had the director of the program contact them to explain that the standard contracts are a minimum of a year but intended to promote long-term employment. Regardless, Kara could not explain why my calls were not returned and the at this point I will never do business with PNC again.

It is obvious that PNC has become an entity disengaged from its customers and as such, we are just anonymous numbers easily dismissed. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I received an email that contained my balance at 12:45PM on April 16th. According to my Virtual Wallet app that the bank sells to you as a tool to make banking with them "worry free" the amount shown in the email was accurate. I never deposit the full amount of my check because even though it is payroll, it takes days to process. I deposited the first check I received after opening my account with PNC on a Friday and my funds were not available to me until the following Tuesday (even though I was told I could access them the next day). After that I opted to pay to have my check cashed elsewhere and deposit a portion of the cash into the account, so I always have cash on hand at the house. As of 11PM the amount had not changed in my account, and I had not used my debit card in two days.

I wake up the next day to find that I have $144 in overdraft fees for three purchases all less than $20 that processed from the weekend at a few minutes before midnight. I called customer service and spent 47 minutes on hold. Ending the call as I walked into the local branch that had opened before my call was ever answered. The manager said his hands were tied, and that he could not remove the fees. He also subtly accused me of fabricating my story. Told me that the transactions had posted at 10PM, so I could not have looked at a positive balance at 11PM.

I called customer service again and waited on hold for just over 30 minutes this time before speaking with a representative. I was again basically told there was nothing that could be done, so asked to be transferred to whomever was in charge of the call center. This is the person that told me the actual time that the transactions took place which was just minutes before midnight. When I explained my experience at the local branch, and how I was told that there was no way I could have looked at 11PM because everything had taken place before that, he apologized. I had begun to relax a little thinking that this person seemed sincere enough and appeared to want to help.

I asked about the fees and that is when his whole tone changed. He refused to do anything, and said that no matter how it happened I am responsible. I understand that if your account falls into the negative that there is a fee, and you are ultimately responsible, but the way everything happened has definitely left a bitter taste in my mouth. To me, it comes across as a legal scam. I am on my way to deposit enough money to cover the outrageous fees that were placed on my account and then am immediately closing it. I will never bank with PNC again. I opened the account based off of a friend's advice to do so, and wish I would have done more research first. Every review I have read since waking up to this problem is one that speaks of a bad experience. Don't let it happen to you. Bank somewhere else.

That leaves me carrying the same debt obligation for 30 days with both banks. This is "legalized stealing" on the part of PNC since there will never be any incentive to mail out offsetting checks in a timely manner.
