My account was over drawn due to an error I made in my check book. While it was my error they ended up pulling $144 dollars out of my account in over draft fees. Is this legal? One of the overdrafts was only $5.00 and they charged me $36.00. Now I don't have enough for the next weeks bills and I'm scrambling to stop auto payments from coming out because if it over draws again they will take all my money again. Can anyone say loan shark!!! I can't believe that they get away with taking all your money!

PNC Bank declined me on a personal loan of less than $10,000. I have immaculate credit. They would not give me a reason as to why, because ''The reason will be in the letter we will mail you in 5-10 days. Wait for it and find out then.'' It took them 4 business days to come to this decision. Discover then approved me within a 10-minute phone call. I have the loan deposited into my PNC checking account by them to withdraw for the purchase. I'm then told any withdrawal over $5,000 takes a week to process. Are you serious? I have to wait to take the money out of MY account? I don't think so. As soon as this deal is over I'm closing my accounts with PNC and never looking back.

I had a home equity loan serviced by PNC that was closed in August after I sold the property attached to the home equity loan. In September, a payment was debited by PNC from my checking account to pay the home equity loan that had already been closed. When I called 4 different customer service agents and retail escalation specialist all insisted that the auto payment was set up through my checking account and there was nothing they could do. After researching the issue extensively ON MY OWN TIME and with the help of my bank where I maintain my checking account, we discovered that PNC originated the auto payment and only they could, therefore, cancel the payment.
I contacted each and every one of the retail escalation specialist who gave me their contact information. After 5 days of attempting to reach even one of them, NOT ONE has returned my call. I still do not know if the messages I have left to cancel the auto payment have been cancelled!! This is UNACCEPTABLE!! What kind of bank operates like this? Horrible customer service, horrible service period! DO NOT BANK HERE!!!

I used to be very happy with PNC bank. I have been banking with them since 2001. Unfortunately, I have noticed service fees over the past 2 years that I have never seen before. Apparently, my account has been upgraded and I have been charged monthly for my "used to be Free" checking account. They refunded me $30 out of the full year of fees that I did not authorize. The rep was condescending and told me I should have just been checking my account and only had 60 days to dispute the fees. I'm finding a way to close my accounts immediately.

I do not have an account with PNC. My son who just moved across the country does. I went into the branch on Professional Parkway in Douglasville, GA to make a deposit into my son's savings acct. I had his checking acct number but not his savings acct number. I asked the teller if I could make the deposit into his savings acct if I gave her his checking acct number. She told me I could not do that. I had done this very same transaction three weeks prior at another PNC branch in Atlanta. My son didn't have his savings acct number.
They were not busy with other customers, not even the drive through. Three employees and they had nothing to do but tell me, no they could not do that. I had to leave the bank without getting the funds to my son because no one at this branch wanted to help me make a deposit. I can understand if I wanted to take money out but I wanted to put money in. I was providing a checking account number that they would be able to get the savings acct number from. There is no customer service at this branch of PNC. I will never recommend this bank to anyone and I'm going to suggest to my son that he close his account with them. I will tell everyone I know not to bank with PNC.

My husband and I are not PNC Bank members. PNC made a mistake and put a line of credit that someone else took out, under our lot, and not the person using the line of credit. We are trying to sell our home and are unable to due to PNC's huge error, which they have yet to fix. We have made several phone calls and their response is, "They are working on it." We now will not be able to move until they fix their mistake. This has cost us time away from our jobs, money and a lot of stress. I will never work with PNC.

I have been a PNC BANK member for about 2 years now. I have had a lot of issues with overdraft fees. Each fee was $36. Just this year, I was charged over 45 overdraft fees from PNC. I work very hard for my money and it gets taken away by overdraft fees. When I called the bank they always have excuses. Today they closed my account without notice and without my permission. I have 2 direct deposits coming in this week and because they closed my account my deposits won’t go through. So now I have to wait to get my checks. I have three kids to support and now no money this week. I will never recommend PNC Bank to anyone they are the worst bank I have ever had.

I was forced to move my money to PNC bank when I moved from San Diego to Pittsburgh, as there is no Wells Fargo in Pittsburgh. I was a customer for 3 years and had a horrible experience with the customer service line and the online banking. It seemed relatively ok if you actually went into a branch, but otherwise they were a nightmare to deal with. Many times I have been on hold for upwards of more than 30 minutes. The customer service representatives can rarely ever answer my questions. I've made several large purchases in the last few months (i.e. new car, new house), and they have been difficult to deal with, especially for the car. Like not being able to answer a question such as, if I use my debit card for the down payment on the car, will that work? Or will a stop be put on it because it is too much $$? Can I set it up NOT to have a stop on it?
I wired my money for the house closing one week early just to avoid any hassles with them. The last and worst thing has been trying to move my money from PNC to my new bank, Merchants. I have tried about 4 different ways to do this, spent endless amounts of time on the phone with PNC, and this process has taken more than a week, and is still not done yet. The account verification did not work, and I was also not told BEFORE I tried to transfer that there would be an account verification and it would take 2 days at least. When I talked with customer service they said there was nothing they could do to cancel the account verification once it was in process, and I could do nothing else about moving my money during those 2 days.
Only one of my two accounts was actually verified and then something even got screwed up with that so I couldn't even go through with any transfers. Finally, today, after talking with 3 more people, and being on hold again, I talked with someone who will just overnight me a cashier's check for the amount in my account. Then I will go to my new bank Merchants and deposit it. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! I will never ever bank with PNC again, and will close my account immediately after this check clears!

I tried to pay for my bank and they keep charging me and the only result that I got was they were going to charge it to my credit and then I can pay on it. Or they would be charging me every day and then I wouldn't be able to pay it at all. It is hard when you're trying to make an attempt to pay what you want though and they do not give you any options.

I wanted to make wire transfer. Apparently you can't do that online. I have to call a department that is only open from 8 to 4 PM EST. No Problem, I called them this morning and I pressed the prompt for wire transfer. Waited 10 minutes, it got routed, of course to the wrong department, they transferred me back to the queue... waited another 20 minutes before someone picked up, they too tell me it is the wrong department, so they transferred me back to the queue. While I waited, I called from another line to see if I can get someone to escalate the issue, of course they said there isn't a way to escalate the issue... all they can do is put me back in the queue. This is the WORST customer service I have observed in a long time. This is 2015, does PNC think it is acceptable for someone to be on hold for over an hour and still not get anyone. I just moved my business to PNC, however it isn't that difficult to move it to a bank that is in the 20th century.

50 Rosery Road NW - On Sept 7 at 7:13 pm I received a call from the fraud dept asking about some recent charges on my account and realized that someone had hacked into my account. Granted I am grateful that they caught it early, within the next 2 days it became more than 600 in the hole. I had a check clear that my fiance mailed and I didn't know it so some is my fault when I had almost 250.00 in insufficient fund fees. It took almost a week to get the fees back. They are still investigating the posted items. The problems started when Morgan a customer service rep told me if I didn't get my account out of the negative they would close it, even asked me "can't you borrow it?" Ummm NO, I was wiped out. They showed no remorse for their actions.
I contacted the branch manager and he helped me at the time. Couple days after that I realized that someone was using my name to get other things so I contacted the police. The branch manager at PNC location said "sorry we have done what we could." I told them I would be moving to another bank and was told "you can't get another account because you're in the negative." Not my fault that I was hacked. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK. THEY ARE CROOKS.

I have been a longtime, solid, customer of PNC. I was hit with two overdraft fees ($72). PNC called it a type of punishment fee. PNC could have refunded this money as my deposit came in just after the weekend, but they chose not to. I cannot bank somewhere an organization levies its own fines (without any calculation) and refuses to refund hardworking people. PNC, you have lost my business for life.

People at branch office were very nice. People at other (corporate?) offices were the opposite. Heloc took nearly 3 months to obtain and I lost the property I wanted. Also required that I initially terminate my existing heloc from credit union. If I hadn't done that I would have walked away from the PNC heloc. Now they are charging me $726 in fees to terminate this one which I need to do to sell my house. The credit union charged me $0 to terminate. In addition, they have a lien on my property for $190,000 although they say I owe $726. Back to the credit union world and away from bank fees.

No one including Sabrina in the escalation department would return my call. Contacted Amy (branch manager at Green Street locations) and she had the personality of a dead fish. In fact she tried to talk down to me. I would highly recommend considering another bank. Terrible customer service and no follow up.

The whole application process is being held up by the need of verification for a $250 monthly HOA fee. We have the HOA fee automatically withdrawn from our account, the withdrawals on the statements are not enough proof. We must get a verification statement or receipt of the HOA fee. They could only say "I'm sorry to hear that this happened" and "There is nothing we can do about it." Let me start by saying I have been with PNC for 10 years. So I access my account online yesterday to check and see bills have posted to my account. (This account is only used to pay bills). I printed it out the page yesterday to track my bills. I had a balance of $20 left. When I pulled up my account this morning I was negative $203. When I look a bill that posted last night came out supposedly at 11 pm. It overdrafted my account by $5 which they ended up taking $36 overdraft charge for ALL 4 of my bills that came out yesterday.
When I spoke with the bank manager Jacob ** in the Philadelphia office he told me there was nothing that he could do to help me. He said that even though I had the print out showing proof I had money on my account he could not refund me any of the overdraft charges. He also proceeded to tell me that if I did the overdraft protection account this would have never happened.
I said “Well you know what I wanted to close my account.” The only thing he told me was he was sorry to lose me as a customer. I said “No you’re not all that you or this bank care about is the money.” Oh and I was told that I had to wait until tomorrow to go back to close out my account because they had to wait until the overdraft charges that they took from my account that I now had to pay back cleared. This is the most disrespected I ever felt in my life and it's a slap in the face to a customer who has been with them for 10 years. What a joke this bank is.

I have been a PNC customer for years and it pains me to have to change banks. But over the last two weeks, I could not be more displeased. I made the mistake of over-drafting my virtual wallet account at a gas station. My direct deposit was set to go through on the 31st of July. Instead of allowing my check to go through, they denied my check and closed my account on the same day. The branch manager at the Smyrna, DE bank showed me the screen and allowed me to see that they denied my check first then terminated my acct.
Now 10 days later, I have no access to my funds. I went ahead and opened a new account with April **, the branch manager on the 3rd of August because she had been in contact with corporate about my situation and they all agreed that by me opening a new account, my direct deposit should go thru within 24-48 hours. Now a week later the Smyrna Branch Manager will not answer or return my calls when I leave messages.
I have no access to any of my funds while PNC sits and collects interest on my check. I can guarantee as soon as everything is settled and I receive my money, I will be cutting all ties with PNC and moving to another bank. I DO NOT recommend PNC banking to anyone. One more banking customer has been lost due to poor customer service and a lack of integrity towards their customers.

I recently had a situation that required me to withdraw funds from my account when I knew that I had an ACH that would also be withdrawing from my account. I contacted the company that does the monthly ACH - they informed me that because my notification was less than 48 business hours - I called them on Fri morning but ACH not set to go thru until Tues. morning it would still go thru. But because they were aware of the situation I could just pay the ACH with a money order and all good. Okay that I understand. I then called the local branch of PNC and was told the same thing and I couldn't put a stop pay on it for the same reason. I then inquired about just withdrawing my money anyway & what would occur. The teller told me that the ACH would be returned unpaid and I would owe the bank an NSF charge and any fees the ACH company charged.
On Sat. morning I go in to local branch and withdraw my funds again asking what would happen when my ACH came thru and there were no funds to cover it. Got basically the same answer but was told by this teller to be sure to leave enough to cover the NSF fees as I had no outstanding items to come thru my account at this time. Which I did - come Tues. morning the ACH showed up overdrawing my account - which I knew that it would along with the $36. NSF fee. No big deal right... Well Wed morning that ACH was showed as posted & paid NOT returned. I immediately called the local branch and was informed by manager Amy that they were doing me a favor by paying the ACH as the bank can pick & choose what they pay for you even if you have no money in your account. Mind you I am opted out of overdraft protection and have no line of credit attached to this account nor is it linked to another account. So they overdue my account $477.36.
I asked how is that possible when I talked to everyone involved. I was then told I could file a dispute - only to learn that could take 45 days to get my money back and with my paycheck set to deposit into the account in 3 days they would basically take that money to cover the $477.36 and any additional fees until the dispute was solved. Needless to say I made a few phone calls & the money was returned to my account in less than 24 hours. Thankfully I know who to call but what about people out there who are not as persistent as I am or older folks who might not understand that the local branch is not the end all be all. What a nasty cheap way to do business and make money off people.

This banks seems to go out of their way to charge NSF fees. They include pending charge transactions in your balance but will not give you full credit for your deposits if checks are included. If you have an issue the branch says it's out of their hands. Currently I am being hit with a NSF for a pending transaction that I had called yesterday about telling them that the charge was a charge made in error and the vendor would be dropping or crediting the charge. PNC told me not to worry. I wake up this morning and see a NSF charge. After waiting on the phone for an excessive time they say they will refund the charges once the dust settles. Meanwhile my account is useless plus I do not trust these folks.

A despicable company with despicable employees who don't value customers at all. Actually in my case I got a low interest rate and after rates rose. I think PNC deliberately tried to derail my mortgage. I want to point out 4 people in particular who took part in the awful mortgage process at PNC. I want to say these are the people who worked on my account, but in some cases it is their lack of work that sunk this:
Brenndon ** (my mortgage was passed to him after my original broker Abe ** quit. BTW Abe says he quit because PNC is a mess). Abe told me I was pre-approved for a $1.6 million mortgage and that he obtained an exemption for pay stubs from my husband since he was just starting a new job that week we were closing. When Brenndon took over my account this exemption was reiterated and I was constantly told we would be good to close July 2nd. The week before closing I was told the exemption never existed). Brenndon rarely returned phone calls, texts or emails from me. Always had an excuse. He was out of town, his mailbox was full, he was sick, etc etc. How does he ever get mortgages closed when he isn't in the offer? Oh and we were only going to borrow $1.1m in the end so it was way under the $1.6 we were pre-approved for. No excuses why this mortgage didn't close.
Yeni **. She is someone who contacted me on behalf of faceless, nameless underwriters who always had a new parade of needs - constantly changed their story on what they needed from me. Totally disorganized and ridiculous. Always made it seem like the list of things the underwriter needed was the final list. Then I'd send in that list of items and she'd return a new list of needs. I now believe, and have been told by good sources, that this was probably all a stall tactic because the bank no longer wanted to honor my mortgage rate at 2.87 for a 15 year.
Scott ** (Brenndon **'s manager. Contacted him several times and he only responded once in an email to say that Brenndon would be calling me back (Brenndon rarely called or emailed me back). Susan ** (emailed and called her several times, never once responded to an email or call. This is despite the fact that her name is on everyone of Yeni's emails and says if there is a problem contact her manager Susan **. Since she isn't doing her job why does she work at PNC?) Needless to say my mortgage with PNC never happened because they tried everything possible to delay it. I had to get funding elsewhere.

I just paid PNC 98.00 in fees plus 36.00 per overdraft fees. This should not be the case with PNC. I've been with them since 2011 and it's getting ready to be my last with them. They do not value their customers to say the least. I am very disappointment because I asked what is the 7.00 per day fee is for. I was told that is how the banks makes their money. A supervisor got on the phone and said whenever the bank is paying out monies for overdraft items then that fee covers that. That's not true because the account is already overdrawn and is hit with 36.00, so why is 7.00 a day necessary. Bye, bye PNC.

Credit score over 800, had other loan offers, was enticed with initial cost estimate of a little over 3,000. Upon then signing the paperwork TWO DAYS LATER, cost estimate - with nothing else listed - nothing different in requirements but costs - came to over 4,000. After all sorts of assurances that because I have my checking account and bank records there it would be more "streamlined" etc. and so forth, I signed. The new estimate - over 5K. After all sorts of various tricks that I and the seller have performed at our own expense, apparently we're still subpar, by the way. And we're both exhausted. The seller is a realtor, she's never encountered anything like this before. Explanation below.
The seller is also the realtor. She gave up her commission and offered a home warranty. She agreed to make some improvements after I obtained the loan, and entered into the Contract of Sale as well, and she also made improvements after the underwriter claimed the appraisal made a mention of the possibility of mold due to some dirty carpeting and a basement area beneath a window that was open being wet. This happened after a first appraisal was performed while the tenants had just left and still hadn't taken out all of their things. The seller was cleaning up after them. Did I mention the Seller had not only gone above and beyond in selling this house to me but removed tenants and thus rental income was lost?
When I made arrangements for this loan, I advised that on July 20, I would reach age 59-1/2 and then would make an in-house withdrawal to make a $10,000 down payment on this loan. In turn, the mortgage loan officer offered me a locked in rate until a little past August, and I told him, "well, I have to close before the contract of sale expires, and that expires on July 30th." He said, "don't worry, we'll be fine." And yet PNC gave me three cost estimates, each one significantly higher than the last - each one with nearly $1,000 added. When the additional conditions came, along with a third cost estimate, there was a lot of discussion on remediation and a second appraisal. A lot.
Both I and the Seller invested a lot in getting this sale to happen by July 30th. We kept going, and going, and going, in good faith to satisfy the PNC underwriter's whims. I have to call it whims because at a certain point this whole thing was just ridiculous. The seller gave up her commission, and she not only made the changes I requested, after the contract of sale, for free, she remediated any problems related to any "possibility" of mold. She cleaned the place up from top to bottom, there was no carpeting once she was done, the cellar walls had been dry docked, a hose spigot outdoors at that window was replaced, the window was shut with a lock, and you could eat off the floor of any room in that house, including the basement once she was through. And the basement was dry. It was clean, and it was dry. She sent a detailed statement along with pictures for the underwriter to review.
And then we were told a second appraisal would be needed. So I paid for a second appraisal and she immediately called and told me after the appraiser was there for a second time that the appraiser said there was quote - no evidence of any mold anywhere - end quote. Why would she? Both the seller and I have done nothing but act in good faith to make the underwriter happy, and to try to get this closing date and make this transaction a reality. We didn't hear from the underwriter, and the mortgage loan officer said we can close. But then the loan supervisor said the underwriter, after reviewing the new appraisal, did not revise his review. I then asked why I even bothered to get a second appraisal. What was the point if he wasn't going to consider it?
Bear in mind, PNC bank representatives referred to it as a second appraisal and were under the impression that the underwriter was going to read it and revise his conditions if the second appraisal was favorable after all of the efforts that would remediate any "possibility" for mold. I thought this, the seller thought this, the mortgage officer thought this, and even the senior loan officer claimed this at one point. I was told we would "probably" have the closing after the review and the "roof" certification he wanted. (That was not an original condition. The appraiser somewhere mentioned in the first appraisal that the "economic life" of the roof May only a couple of years old.)
At first, they couldn't figure out who should get the roof certification. First it was me, then it was the seller, then I said I'd do it to get it over with, and then they wanted a "mold" certification. Then they didn't seem to know who should do that either. First they claimed the seller should, then I got a note that I'd be helped to find a mold specialist so that I could get it done and we could get this closing scheduled. After I had written that the second appraisal seemed an exercise in futility, the senior loan officer then wrote back that it was NOT a second appraisal. That the appraiser came back out again to make sure that all of the improvements made by the seller had been made and that the underwriter was going with the first appraisal because it's the only one, and that this wasn't a second appraisal.
But really - if none of that consisted of remedial efforts, and they were doing the - for lack of a better term since they didn't assign a noun I'm going to say the second appraisal - to review work done that was additional work to the contract of sale (they based their loan on the contract of sale) seriously - what business would the improvements added to the contract of sale they gave me a loan on be of theirs since the loan was based on only the contract of sale? And why on earth would I pay for it since that's not even logical?
Believe it or not this loan is for only $32,000 - less than they lend on some car loans. Because this house was on the market for 45,000, the seller/realtor forfeited her commission, and now she's done over $2,000 on improvements. If the second appraisal - or whatever noun I'm supposed to be using now since I'm not supposed to call it that - has not been related to any remedial efforts to get the place cleaned up, then what the heck do they think they're doing??? One person at PNC Bank doesn't seem to know what the other person is doing, and apparently the senior loan officer feels perfectly content contradicting even herself.
They are arguing with themselves. It really has become so convoluted and ridiculous, and the closing is supposed to be July 30th at the latest. It should have been "streamlined" and only about $3,000, I was willing to accept an increase of $4,000 approximately but then in mid-stream it went up to $5,000 approximately in costs, and they don't even know why themselves. I have a roofing certification for them now. It says the roof is in good shape and has a life expectancy of ten years because it's a 35-year asphalt shingle that was probably installed about 15 years ago. I have a funny feeling that will be the next dilemma the underwriter will cause. And then the Contract of Sale will expire. And then the interest rate will no longer be locked in. Who knows what they'll think of next? But they'll certainly bilk me for their processing fees, won't they?
It's weird that I can't even call it a second appraisal. I'm not even sure what noun the underwriter has decided to use to describe the act of the appraiser, when the appraisal sent there a second time, since he can be rather obtuse. Rigid, but vague. I think the only thing consistent at this point are the increases in costs.
The underwriter is a walking invitation for someone to file legitimate grounds for collateral damages. We're probably not going to be able to close. He can decide, I'm sure, that the life of the roof isn't 15 years, like the life of the loan. Hey, why not he's gone so far with this already, why not go a little farther - and even though my homeowner's insurance would cover the roof ten years from now, the underwriter is the one who will decide that it isn't good enough. So far, nothing has been. And that even though the Seller and I have jumped through several hoops, our good faith efforts have been subpar. How ironic. That this underwriter presents himself as a "collateral" underwriter but then leaves a path of spoiled contracts of sales and vanquished good faith efforts.

Since I have been with them for only a short period of time I guess I have not gotten all the bad service that most people on here have encountered. I was told to make 3 deposits of $500.00 to PNC from my job by way of direct deposit. I did that - once this was completed I called the bank to find out when I would get my $200.00. I was told that my deposits had to have been done by June 30th - I did not know that. The last deposit was done on July 2nd.
You would think that since I am a new customer that you would try to keep me so that I can spread the word as to how nice and efficient this bank is - wrong. They came to my job and got me to join. I was already a member at Wells Fargo and I was happy with them. So needless to say, I will be taking my money out like everyone else at the end of the year because I have a bill payer that I will be using until it is paid up in December of this year, and then I am gone. I am not rich but if I became rich they would have gotten my money and we would have been partners for life.

They take 45 mins min always to reach to CC executive, take 10 mins for verification then when we request them to correct their mistakes they don't have solution for that matter because of lack of knowledge. If I go to bank to see person face to face, nobody has knowledge and they ask to call customer care then again same story starts. I have been a long standing customer of PNC with a perfect record. I have a checking account and multiple money market accounts and I paid off my primary mortgage with PNC. I also have a HELOC with PNC. I received a letter from PNC informing me that payment of the balance will be due in February. They listed several options that I could take regarding this loan such as paying off the balance, converting it to mortgage, or refinancing the HELOC by simply calling PNC and referencing the word "MATH".
So I call and I am connecting with a personable guy who takes my info and tells me that he will email me a form listing what documentation I will need to provide. He told me that I would need to provide the last two years W2, last two pay stubs and homeowner's insurance declaration page. I send the requested info and then receive a call from a Ms. ** telling me that I also need to provide my last two years tax returns including all schedules, my last months American express statement, all sorts of information on a second home that I own and do not rent or lease it, and all sorts of information on a third home I own that is fully paid and I lease for a pretty significant monthly rent.
Now given that PNC already owns the HELOC that I want to extend, and that I have more money in my accounts with them that is greater than the HELOC amount I am extending, I did not see the need to send them my last two years tax returns or my American Express statement. The woman I spoke with was a bit to rude for my taste and she claims that it is a state law that I provide that info. Well, I called a few other banks and they are more than happy to give me the HELOC with a w2, last two pay stubs and a copy of my driver’s license.
So I guess the other banks are not subject to the same laws as PNC (sarcasm). I told this woman that I would not provide my tax returns or my Amex statement as PNC has all my info from my previous loans with them. She would not move on this and I told her that I would be closing all my accounts and moving on. I wanted to stay with PNC as I have several auto deposits and payments setup with them but I have no problem changing either. So PNC, looks like it will be adios.

Since this is the second or third time we've encountered customer service issues, I feel the need to write about it. If you are banking or decide to bank with - close your account or go with another bank... because these people DO NOT care about you or your money. My husband and I have had a joint account with PNC for several years. I honestly do not know why we have stuck around for so long.
Along the way there have been issues with sneaky penalty fees, dishonesty about overdraft protection help, and numerous, inexplicable charges that pop up every now and then. Fine. Whatever, they're a bank. They're supposed to try and take my money as well as hold it for me. It's the way the world runs. However, when someone else tries to take my money, a bank should do whatever it can to try and protect me (us) from having more stolen. I mean, it's their money too right? Not with PNC. They will steal your money and help out whoever wants in on it too.
My husband noticed two pretty substantial transactions yesterday, ones that we clearly didn't make. Turns out that during our trip to - an establishment that has had it's data breached, losing countless customer information to hackers and thieves - our card information was stolen, and used to make a few hefty purchases. So we contact our bank's customer service hotline. After being on hold for 30 minutes, we get hung up on. The next call, 20 minutes on hold; they hang up again. The third call was a merciful 15 minutes on hold, after which we were told that "There was nothing they can do" until one of these transactions post........... Let that sink in. It has to POST. As in, go through. Money gone. Before they can do anything about it. No offer to put a hold/freeze on the account, in order to stop these creeps from using the card information AGAIN.
Apparently we're supposed to just let it go. Maybe I'm a little naive. Maybe this happens all the time, and everyone thinks it's ok. It's "policy", that's the way it works... But I'm not buying into it. We have car payments, utilities, and student loans about to go through this week. As well as getting gas, food, countless things that require money will have to be put on hold, while we breathlessly wait for more fraudulent transactions to go through before a bank, OUR bank, will do anything about it. Because really, who cares. Two barely lower middle class people, trying very hard to get their finances in order and be responsible, frugal, money-wise citizens are obviously not worth their time. Well, guess what PNC, you're not worth my time either.

They have taken over $3,000 from my account in last 18 months. I have had this account for over 10 years. They refuse to reimburse any of the "fees" they have taken. I find it extremely disturbing that they feel justified in taking what they have. I have had to borrow from retirement and insurance policies in an attempt to keep this account in good standing.
I always thought highly of this institution and even referred friends and family to bank with them. However it seems as branches started to close in the last few years this bank and attitudes of employees have changed to its detriment. Checks have been returned even when the account has a positive balance. They have given multiple fees on the same check and have charged an exorbitant amount of money for transactions less than $10.
I have 3 small children and now fear my water and electric will be shut off. I have been a loyal customer for over a decade. I would have never banked with this institution or kept this account open as long as I have if I knew that they fabricated fees like this and just take ridiculous amounts of money from a family barely making ends meet. I honestly believed they would do the right thing and I have tried to maintain this account in spite of what they were doing.
However they don't care. They took as much money as they could and dismiss me by writing a couple letters acting as though I am wasting their time filing complaints with Better Business Bureau and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and attaching copies of the Account Agreement. I tried to get resolution without the need of any complaints or attorney fees and court costs and I was ignored.
It is my understanding that unless a consumer chooses to opt-in for overdraft protection, their purchases will be declined if an account has insufficient funds. I should have never had any fees whatsoever from PNC on any check that they believed could not be covered should have been rejected immediately. Funds are available immediately if they are cash or direct deposits. This bank ignores these deposits, processed multiple checks and essentially took any and all of the money for themselves.
Some shady banks have a policy of processing the day's largest transactions first (as opposed to chronological order), which increases the likelihood of multiple small transactions incurring overdraft fees. If customers don't have overdraft protection anymore, the banks can't collect. In fact a federal judge accused Wells Fargo of "profiteering" by employing overdraft policies that led customers to pay multiple fees. The bank was ordered to return over $203 million to their customers. I believe PNC should be held accountable for doing the same to their customers.

We did this and now it's like pulling teeth to get our money out of our account to pay our mortgage. They play this game to squeeze as many fees out of us as they can. Every month we get the same run around, same mistakes in our account, same hour or two wait to talk to a service rep who can't really help us but promises us it's fixed for good this time. I own a small business, and am using PNC's business banking. I'm going to describe the latest in a series of similar events that have been occurring over the past few weeks. On Wednesday, 4/29/15, at 9:50 am, I ran a credit card payment through Square.com. At the time, my bank account had a low, but positive, balance. I received an email from Square at 11:38 pm 4/29/15 notifying me that the transfer had been made. At 4:51 am on 4/30/15, I received an email from PNC Bank stating that my account was overdrawn. I saw this email after I woke up at 5:45 am. At 5:52 am, 4/30/15, I logged in to my online banking to find out why my account is overdrawn. According to what is shown here, a check came through on 4/29, taking my balance down to $29.18. The only newer item shown that is NOT in pending is the overdraft fee of $36, which takes my account to a negative balance.
How can I be charged an overdraft fee based on items still pending? Even if some of the items initially came through before the Square deposit, THEY ARE STILL PENDING!!! I have printouts of everything, so I can definitely prove what I'm seeing on my end. The printout I did at 5:52 am doesn't show the date and time, so I did a full screen capture at 6:47 am that still shows all of the same information. I've spoken to my local branch manager about similar issues over the past few weeks, and she seems to genuinely want to help, but is unable to do anything based on her employer's rules.

My online account has been blocked due to an incorrect password. However when I try to reset my password, it won't let me and will generate some error message. I called customer care 3 TIMES and all they had to say was a senior technical expert will get in touch with me. It's been over 3 weeks since I was expecting a call from them. Finally, I stopped by at a local PNC branch and they said they had resolved the issue, hopefully!
My issue is still unresolved and no one at PNC knows how to take care of this. My online account has been blocked for a while now. I am so disappointed with the terrible service. If you'll do not have the technical expertise do not offer online banking solution and if you'll have committed just outsource help if you'll are unable to help. Do not keep a customer hanging. I cannot stop by the bank everyday.

Issue: home equity loan with PNC bank. The line was paid off over two years ago and since then I haven't received a statement or anything from PNC Bank indicating to me the account was still open. I called in and requested the account be closed and for a record of release to be faxed to my mortgage refinance company as PNC bank instructed me I could not do it by phone, I had to fax the request.
I was told by phone on April 8 the account would be closed in 3 - 5 business days and the record of release would be faxed when the account was closed. In my fax I asked to be advised by phone of progress on this. No word from PNC Bank so on April 16 I called PNC Bank (many times told different numbers to call by them for different departments and after my account and SSN is not recognized and next to impossible to get a person on the phone) as I had not hear anything from them and neither had my mortgage company. I was told then that the account was closed and the letter would be faxed by Monday April 20 at the LATEST.
Tuesday April 21 I called several times asking for a manager and explained the situation and was told I would be transferred. After being on hold for over 10 minutes, then end up back in their voice automated system which just disconnected me. Every time I call I am told something different. They say I am not allowed to talk to the people who close the accounts and fax the record of releases, that they don't fax the releases when I was told multiple times they do. Their voice automated system is setup so it is next to impossible to talk to a person, and still to this day my mortgage company has not received the record of release.
I faxed one last time PNC Bank's department that cannot speak to anyone that I would file a complaint if this was not done by Friday April 24. As of today still no word from them. I feel they are holding my property hostage with a lien that was paid off several years ago and the fact they won't respond or let me speak to someone directly that will resolve it is even worse. I have had people read me the fax number and info from my first fax so I know they have it. And a person on tuesday April 21 that told me she would send in the request to see why it hasn't be done yet. Sadly two people I spoke to that worked there said they have had the same issue with their own homes. Wow..

The following day April 21 there were 2 charges to my account, which I knew I would be liable for the overdraft fees for those charges. Acceptable. I understood the consequences for using the card with not enough funds. However they charged me an overdraft fee for one of the items on April 20. They took the next days (April 21) items out prior to taking out the deductions for April 20. This is not the first time they have done this. It is and unfair business practice especially for a bank.

Today I went to pay my life ins. policy and a block away, I tripped and fell, landing on my front teeth. My upper lip was bleeding and three times its size. I go to the greeter and say, "I'm here to pay a bill and when I'm done I need you to call the Pleasantville police". My phone hit the ground and was malfunctioning, she asks me if I can use my phone. Then a supervisor comes over and is wondering why I'm not using my phone. I tell her I can't make an outgoing call. I ask if they can google the police dept. number and the greeter says she's really not permitted to do this. The supervisor goes back to her office. I'm paying my bill, making a transfer.
Seeing I am hurt, she begins to reject my county ID saying it's not what we accept, I tell her I got the account with this form of ID. I'm trying not to cry at age 65 'cause my face pain and knee was really kicking. The police never came. I wound up calling a cab to get to the police dept. When I got home, decided to bring this up at the city council meeting and ask, "are there any good and decent people on Pleasantville, NJ?" As I am on the ground, a twenty-yr old walks around me. I'm glad I am who I am with a great Italian background, the folks who live and work here need to go to my old neighborhood and see how decent people are raised. I unfortunately work in this town...I used to love it until today.
I plan to write to the Atlantic City press editorial and make a visit to the council meeting as well. I spent a lot of years in the army and I guess I just expect more out of humans than they are capable of performing. As I was ready to leave the bank manager seemed to realize her actions towards me may have been improper. She asked if I needed anything. In my mind it was too late..spontaneous reaction to your fellow man is what people need to see, not whether or not I'm going to report bad human behavior. My retirement money sure as hell ain't going to PNC.

Apparently, PNC has no limit on how far they can overdraft your account. I had an IRS payment scheduled to come out for $5666 on the 14th. There wasn't enough in there to cover (I knew this, I had already set up a payment plan with them). Instead of rejecting this charge and charging me an NSF fee, PNC arbitrarily decided to PAY THE CHARGE, throwing me into a nearly $4,000 hole. I went in and asked why they would approve such a large charge, knowing the account didn't have anywhere near that much to cover. They said, “it's on a case by case basis.” Maybe the IRS part scared them. So now, I'm scrambling to find $3,000 to bring it back to black. I am closing this account as soon as I can.

She made me go to my car three times and search the glove box for a receipt from the car tag. She finally agrees to cash the check. She informs me that she will charge me $10 to cash my $50 check (wow! I get $40 out of this). She starts to whisper to her co-worker and they both stare at the computer for what seemed like an hour. He came out of the bank saying they would not cash his check. Let me mention that his paycheck is drawn on PNC BANK. When I sent in to inquire, I was told that he needed a major credit card and other ID. I stated that most high school student do not have major credit cards, and that he had school ID AND HIS DRIVING PERMIT. I was told that he still could not cash it and that he could go to his bank. I asked for the manager whose name is ** and he was busy. I left my number, went home and called again, and still received no call from the manager. I filed formal complaint the very next day at the complaint line at corporate and was told someone would get in touch in a few days. So it's been a few weeks and no one has called back.
My next meeting this week is with channel 11 news on your side to discuss this treatment in the media. I don't care how far I have to go and how long it takes. Now my son won't even take his paycheck to the bank. If I find other student that cash their checks there without major cards, PNC is going to have a really big problem.

Still did not hit my account and called and was told they didn't show the check, so I sent a second check. Lo and behold, both checks clear the same day. I called and was told there was only one check showing as received. This occurred over the next week of telephone calls, that only one check was received.
Finally, I accidentally called a branch and the Manager answered. She said that she knew who to contact and would initiate an investigation. It took another 2 weeks to get a response that it is being looked into. Now, I was told that a check was mailed out on 3 different dates and I haven't received one. I continue to call, originally was told a replacement check would be issued if I didn't receive it on 4/4. I called on 4/6 that I still haven't received it and am told I have to wait 10 more days before they will issue a stop payment, and a new check reissued would go regular mail. I went to my local branch manager who contacted them and was told a replacement check would be reissued on 4/8 & overnighted to me. 4/9 came, but no check did.
I contacted the escalation department and was told a check was reissued but not overnighted. I contacted the local branch again for assistance and the escalation department told the branch that the replacement check was overnighted, but didn't have a tracking #. They would call me directly with that information. I called the escalation department at 7:40mpm since I haven't heard back, was on hold for 50 minutes, then transferred to ** who is supposed to have gotten back to me, went into her voicemail and then disconnected. After 9 years of banking I have just discovered a sneaky way PNC keeps your money longer without telling you. Perhaps I was lazy and didn't want to read the 30 page "privacy" terms of service. However, even if I had read I would still not know the following. PNC online bill pay will tell you when a payment will be made if you "schedule" a payment. (They also call instant payments "scheduled" so in fact ALL online payments are scheduled) If you click the calendar. However if you input an amount next to the company you want to pay there is no warning they will wait 3 days to pay it.
This is because even though it is "online" these payments generate a printed physical check and mails it via snail mail just as if you put a stamp on it and walked to the mail box. This is not mentioned in the literature I received. If only they generated a nice sized warning: "PAYMENT WILL BE MADE 3 DAYS FROM NOW" it would help people avoid late fees. However they know this and STILL choose not to warn people. They try to make it sound like it is your fault. Some items they process the next day but you never really know.
Also. You would think if when you make a cash deposit on a sat/sun and it is processed the next day the same would happen online. No. If you make a transaction on sat/sun it is NOT processed on Monday! What they told me "Monday is Saturdays work" or something like that. They wait until the END OF THE DAY on Monday and process it that night for Tuesday!
They do not tell you transactions over the weekend are processed on Monday but require an additional day! You would think Monday morning the FIRST thing they would do is the weekend transactions but they don't. They literally let it sit there all day. That means they hold your money another day and can even rack up fees for bills that come in Monday. I do not know if this is for all online transactions but it was for mine - so I'm sure I am not the only one paying late fees - all because they refuse to disclose vital information in a proper way.

So last week out of the blue a hold was put on my debit card on Friday. Multiple phone calls were made to the 800 number and no consistent reason was given for this hold. First, it was because of a deposit made. Then it was because there was an "investigation". Multiple phone calls, no consistent answers. and I was told to go to a branch. Since I work 2 jobs and am not able to make deposits during "normal business" hours I rely heavily on the ability to use the ATM for deposits, withdrawals etc.
During all this, no letters were sent that were supposed to be sent were received. During one of my 800 number calls, I was told that I could still make deposits. I was able to make a $10 which was fine, but a subsequent deposit of $240 was made and lo and behold, the ATM took the money, told me the cash could not be verified, had a cash return failure and then shut down. WOW!!! So after a 1 hour hold, an "investigation" is under way.
Today, I called to have an automatic payment moved to another bank since I no longer trust or want to use PNC. Again, a 1/2 hour wait for customer service, and then I had to be transferred to a manager. To have an automatic payment changed is like an act of God and today I am told that my accounts have been negative since February??!!!

Buyer went with another lender. An extension was sent to PNC to extend closing date from; 11/19/2014 - 12/19/2014. All were in agreement on the extension; December 17, 2014 - Received clearance from new lender to close on 12/19/14; December 19, 2014 - at closing it was determined PNC bank didn't get verification with investor on extending closing from 11/19/2014 to 12/19/2014 and could not complete the closing; December 30, 2014 - a new BPO was performed at PNC/Investor request.
January 15, 2015 - BPO came in at contract price; February 17, 2015 - PNC the bank came back with a higher value on the property which the agent was not aware where it could have come from since the comps dont support it. Present - waiting from PNC bank. It's going on 3 months since the closing and PNC is grossly latent in responding.
Conclusion (from Buyer's perspective): Investor did not want to sell the property at that value and PNC Bank did not clear with the investor the price.. Instead PNC did a bait and hold for a buyer. Now they want a higher price for the home but won't say what the price is... appears they are waiting for home values to come up justify more for the home. Why not just decline the offer? This to me is unethical, shady and scam worthy. We are still under contract with PNC for this short sale property and currently looking at other homes. We could decline it, but they approved it in the first place. Why play with peoples hopes of moving into a property if there is no intent of selling at the approved contract price. On January 30,2015 I deposited $450.00 in cash into the atm machine after I had already made a check deposit. The check deposit showed up on the receipt but my cash deposit didn't. The atm screen prompted for me to put my PIN # in to make another deposit to my same account after depositing the check. It wanted to know if it would be a check or a cash deposit. I pushed the button for cash and resumed following the instructions on the atm screen.
Each time I deposited the cash (one by one) it wanted me to confirm if the amount was correct. On the screen four $100 bills showed up and it was correct. Then I deposited the $50 bill and it got stuck in the atm machine (There was a man standing behind me from a distance waiting to use the atm machine and I turned around and told him that the atm stole my money). It would not read the dollar amount on the screen and didn't return the cash back to me. I could see the money stuck in the deposit slot but I couldn't get it because it was too far in the machine. The screen went black (blank) and I started pushing buttons. I was panicking about what was happening.
A message came up on the screen to go see the financial institution and I went inside the bank. I knew that it accepted the $400 cash because it showed up on the screen so I wanted to let the bank specialist know about the atm not giving me back my $50 or crediting my account. He pulled up my account and he said that all he sees is that I deposited a check for 353.90 and there are NO CASH DEPOSIT (At this time, the man that was waiting to use the atm after me went inside and told the people behind the desk that the atm took that lady's money then he left). I was furious; the atm posted on the screen $400 deposited and now I have lost not only $50 but $400 also. I asked him what happened? Three employees went to the atm room and to checked it out. I don't know what they did.
He filed a dispute for me and said that I would have to wait for the money to balance. I asked him "would the atm spit my money back out of the machine for the next person to use the atm machine?" I was told by him and 2 other employees of PNC that that would not happen. I received a letter in the mail that the atm balanced (they did not find the $450) and they reversed my provisional credit and started added $7 a day fees onto my account. I had the dispute reopened for them to look at the cameras. I deposited that money and it did not vanish in thin air! Someone had sticky fingers and took my $450.
While all of this is going on even to this day now (3-16-15) they are calling, wanting me to pay them for insufficient funds and fees (I am supposed to be in the positive of $294.65 as of February 10,2015). I called to find out what they have found out about the cameras at the atm. They stated that the cameras were angled in a way that they couldn't tell how much money was being deposited. How convenient for the bank, I thought we were to be protected also. They claimed that they had given me another provisional credit of $450 which they never did, because it didn't post to my account.
Then they turned around and reversed that and the bank wants me to pay them $682.35. I have not been using that account since February 10, 2015. My husband talked to a corporate rep. specialist and requested for documents and footage of the camera to see proof of how they came up with their decision. The specialist said he would contact my husband in 48 hours and that was on 3-10-15; we still have not heard back from him. Of course, I still get calls for owing the bank money. What am I to do now? This bank is ripping me off which started out with me making my $450 deposit that never showed up on their screen. They could look back in the history that I have been making cash deposits for the past few months. They didn't make a comment on that.
Updated on 06/04/2015: This is an update from my first post about my $450 cash gone missing from the PNC ATM in Pilot Mountain, NC. Customer service continued calling wanting their money of $682.35; I brought it to their attention that they could look on my account and see that they never gave me a second provisional credit while this account was still being investigated. The next day I had seen on my account that they had corrected the mistake. That had left me with a -$155.35. My husband and I paid the -$155.35 to get the account out of the negative to prevent future accumulations of fees; however, we did this in Good Faith and hoping that PNC would step up and do the right thing and find out what has happened to our $450 cash deposit.
Numerous voice mails have been left with the Escalation Dept. and no one will return our calls. We have gone through 3 different Escalation Specialists that sound sincere in helping us and that is as far it has gotten. We still have not seen any proof of PNC reasoning for not crediting our account. We were told that we could see video footage of me making the deposit and reports; however, when my husband and I have requested for them over the phone with the specialist, PNC will not front the videos or other sources. PNC has the upper hand on this. I guess we will never know what happened to our money. I am grateful that it was not more than the $450 missing plus the $155.35 we paid that they claimed we owed them. We no longer trust PNC Bank and it is unfortunate that we can't feel safe making deposits into ATMs and trust that our money will be in our account.

I'm helping my 94 year old mother with her checking account at PNC. Whenever I've tried to make a call to them, I wind up frustrated and angry. After one twenty five minute wait on hold, I had to hang up before I stroked out. Today I called to ask a simple question about online bill paying, and had to give multiple account numbers, social security number, and still couldn't speak with a human because of unusual high call volumes. There is a branch nearby where I've made deposits, the people there are nice. It's the corporate structure that is so ignorant. I hope to get mom's money out of there into a more user friendly bank.

Went to this bank which was on Mansell in Alpharetta GA. to close out IRA and the branch manager made a mistake and then could not figure out how to correct it. We were there for over an hour and a half for something that should have taken 10 minutes. The manager then lied and said she could not reverse her mistake and that we would only get part of the money. And then when I told her she could reverse it, she did. Do not go to this bank for anything. The incompetence of the staff is unbelievable. I will never use them again.

My daughter is consistently charged small fees on top of her contracted fixed car loan payment. PNC will always state this is a forced insurance fee due to her "not having car insurance." My husband (the insurance agent) has repeatedly faxed proof of insurance to no avail. Last time he requested a phone number that he could call to verify the fax was received. Ph # 866 298 3618 is a bogus #-- rings once and goes to busy no matter when in the day or night/day of the week or weekend that you call.
As I research this I am finding more and more people falling prey to PNCs fraudulent practice. We have three other cars financed through other banks and not one of them has ever had any question as to insurance proof. This bank is fraudulent. As I research this I am finding MANY people who have fallen prey to this same scam. Something must be done about this bank!

Problem resolved. It took about 2 weeks but when I got through to a supervisor at expedited claims, she was able to eventually get the card turned back on.
Original Review: Feb. 28, 2015
PNC is the bank that bought the bank that bought my bank. I have had a credit card with them for 15 years. I usually don't use it. Apparently I bought some gas or something awhile ago. As far as I know they haven't sent me a bill. I can't access the online bills. I got a notice from a credit rating service that my bill was late, so I called to make a payment, but after 30 minutes on hold and maybe 15 minutes of talking with them, they couldn't figure out how to make my payment, which just involved moving funds from one account to another and then paying the card from there.
The next day, they cancelled my card with no notice to me. The next week I called again and the payment went through fine that time, but they then told me my card was cancelled. I made 8 attempts to reach them by email, kept being told they don't have email. Eventually got an email from the right department, "escalation" but was told there is no recourse; when they close your account with warning. There's nothing you can do. A phone call to a supervisor was never returned. I am not satisfied and will do what I can to keep my dispute alive.
I don't think I'm being treated fairly or honestly. The money they used to buy my bank came from US taxpayers. PNC is the country's 5th largest bank. Losing my business won't hurt them, but if they treat everybody the way they are treating me they would have no customers left. I think it's in their interest not to screw me over this way, and I hope to show them that, but I would rather they'd have gotten it right the first time, or at least one of the first ten times. I can't recommend this as a place to trust with your money, not worth the hassle. At a minimum they should have a publicly available email address; this is 2015 not 1915.

I had an account with PNC while residing in Pittsburgh. I moved away from there 3 years ago but kept money and the count open. Moved to State College and went to use it. Found out they had closed the account and took the money without any written or verbal contact with me about this. I was patient about it and waited 3 days for them to reopen the account. Come to find they had denied my request for no liable reason. At the moment me and the Better Business Bureau are in communication with them.

Had two checks pending; the smaller one was listed first and I deposited enough to cover the first check before it posted. After midnight when I was able to transfer the rest of the money to cover the 2nd check, I see I have been charged for overdrafts instead of one. Further, my 2nd bank did 2 test deposits totaling .40 and then withdrew the .40. They said because my account was negative already, they charged me a 3rd overdraft fee for the .40 withdrawal by the other bank. I understand getting charged once, but when I deposit enough to cover a pending check, there should be no charge. And $36.00 for an electronic verification deposit with equal withdrawal of .40 is outrageous.

Not only is the customer service the worst I have ever had - consistently. Hidden charges - free is not free account - I was charged $5 to view each check that I deposited! $5! I viewed 4 checks online - that is 20$! The website is terrible - absolutely terrible - it is a complete disaster - you can't find anything - long load times - Bank of America's website has won numerous rewards - PNC's site is impossible to use. I have complained numerous times and I get a canned response. Type in: >>> Dispute a credit card transaction PNC...on google - you can't find an answer. Go to the website, it is buried under customer service tab. Bank of America's dispute transaction button is at the top of every debit card page.
Bank of America, you dispute the entire transaction online. PNC - you have to wait for them to mail you a form, fill it out, and pay to mail it back. Want to dispute your transaction outside of business hours online? Here is the message you get: "We are unable to process your request at this time. Have had a cashbuilder credit card for years. Started with National City, which was absorbed by PNC. I pay my bill in full every month to avoid paying interest. I accepted one of their "use the attached checks for a 0% offer. Just pay the fee." When I got my first bill, I called them to make sure how much to pay to avoid interest. Did that. Got my next month's bill & was charged interest. I called again & this time was told that I lost my grace period because I did not pay my bill in full. So consumer beware of this offer.
If you borrow money at 0%, you start paying interest on purchases from day 1. I would never have taken this offer if I understood that up front. The only way to stop paying interest is to pay off the loan that I just got at 0% that I paid a service charge to get. Why borrow money at 0%, then pay 13.99% on all my purchases that previously were at 0%. First time ever to be charged interest. PNC has now lost a customer. They spend a lot of money on marketing. They need to spend more time on disclosure. I would never have left the bank if I understood exactly how this offer worked. Just wanted to put this out there so other people are aware of this.

So I walked in the office to activate my debit card that had been messed up twice by their staff (misspelled name) and the branch manager talked me into opening a new credit card with 11.99% APR and 0% in balance transfers for a year. I did not really need a new credit card and I told him so but after hearing that I could pay my other credit card balances with a lower APR I accepted. There he went to transfer a couple of balances in my freshly $17K limit credit card.
One week later I received the credit card in the mail (with my name spelled incorrectly on the card once again) and then I realized I was being charged 21.99% APR for this card. I called customer service to inquire about this and the response I got is it was the best they could offer me at the moment (my credit score is above 700). I said well, this is not what I was offered when I opened this card so I don't really want it. So the customer service rep told me since I had not activated the card then nothing was going to take effect and that I could close that card without any impact in my credit history. I explained about the balance transfers that the branch manager did when I opened the account and he said that none of those transactions were processed yet hence I owed nothing.
I asked for a confirmation of my CC closing in writing so they sent me 2 letters in the mail the following week stating the card had been closed and my owed balance was 0. Go figure my surprise when a few weeks later I received a notification from one of my other credit cards that the balance in my account had been satisfied. What happened? These incompetents at PNC went through with every transfer AFTER I had cancelled the credit card. The response I got every time I raised my concern about this clear scam? "Sorry for the misunderstanding, there's nothing we can do." They refused to lower the APR of the balance I'm now stuck with.
UGH I so much hate this bank right now that I'm moving all my money to another institution ASAP. Save yourself a headache and say NO when they offer you to open one of their crappy credit cards. NEVER consent to transfer any balances while you don't have all the bank paperwork in your hand. I realized the bank rep transferred my balances on the fly just to secure his commission. They do not care if you get screwed in the process.

No one experience - MULTIPLE. Their overdraft policy needs to be looked into. They shuffle deposits/withdrawals around to get the most in fees. I finally had enough this week when I withdrew money and left $4.65 in the bank. (enough till I got paid again). PNC took out $2.50 inquiry fee and $2.50 atm fee which put my account in the negative by $.35. Bam $36.00 overdraft fee. This past year has been overly aggressive with their fees. I put an endorsed check for over $18,000 in the deposit machine of a PNC Bank on Michigan Ave. in Chicago on a Saturday. Two weeks later the money had still not shown up in my account. I called the branch and spoke to the branch manager, Michelle. She said the check was probably in the mail. I never got it. I had to have it cancelled by the issuer and a new one issued to me. I asked Michelle if I could set up a business account at PNC and she said yes. She felt bad about the check and would get the paperwork in order if I could come in and sign the papers, it would be set up.
I went in at the time we had agreed I would go in. She wasn't there but the head banker there, a Crystal, said she had the paperwork Michelle had created. I produced my driver’s license and then asked to review the information on the paperwork. The name of the business was not the name of my business. It was my first name, last name then the word "company". The structure was identified as a sole proprietorship. I do not and never have had a sole proprietorship nor a business in the name of "first name, last name company ". I told the banker that information was incorrect. She told me to sign because it would be easiest. I didn't see how legally that would serve me and told her.
I asked her to set up an account using the correct business name and structure. She asked me to get my articles of incorporation. I told her she could get those on Cyber Drive. She got very flustered and asked me to return in an hour and the paperwork would be done by then. I did so. She said the account would require me to go into a branch after 24 hours to sign something else. That would be on a Saturday and the branch wouldn't be open on a Saturday but there was one that was open on Saturday and she gave me the name of someone there which she misspelled ("FREnando" not "Fernando" which was strange given she was Hispanic).
I explained to a banker at the other branch that I wanted to change branches given the branch manager had made what I considered a serious mistake. I spoke to the branch manager who made the mistake who told me that it would have been in my best interest to use the name and legal structure she had assigned me because the account could have been set up when I first came in. I explained to her that to do so I would have had to attest that the information was correct when it wasn't and I knew it wasn't and that that would have been fraudulent. She got very defensive and said she was going to terminate me as a customer.
I decided to close down my accounts at PNC after the unprofessional conduct and other problems banking at PNC which I am sure others have documented. I closed everything down but then was assessed fees for insufficient funds because PNC kept my debit card open even though I closed everything down. PNC now keeps calling me to "come into a branch" ("You have to come into a branch immediately to pay the insufficient fund fee"). I don't know how to get PNC out of my life. It was the most outrageous behavior by an institution and I am appalled at the poor quality of training and intelligence and education these PNC "bankers" have.

I'm a small business person of African American decent with a PNC business account but at least on 4 occasions when I go into a branch to make a cash withdrawal they gave me a hard time to get my own money. My most recent experience was on 2/7/15 at the Ballinger Creek branch in Frederick Md which is the branch where I opened my account. I went in to make a cash withdrawal with one form of federal ID and the teller said because of the amount I was withdrawing he needed authorization.
He called over another teller who came and initialed the withdrawal slip after she looked at me, my ID and the computer screen. The teller asked if I had a second form of ID and I told him no. He asked if I have my vehicle's registration and I told him that I didn't drive there, I got a ride. The teller that he called over then crossed out her initials and said that she couldn't authorize it with just one form of ID. I took back the withdrawal slip and my ID and went back home for a second ID which was a state issued ID.
I went back to the branch and got in line and this time went directly to the teller who had came over to initial the withdrawal the first time. I gave her the two forms of ID's, one was a federal issued ID and one was a state issued ID and the withdrawal slip and she told me that she still could not give me the money without a driver's license or a passport. I raised my tone of voice and ask her how is it that the first teller said that if I had my vehicle's registration along with the federal ID I could have made the withdrawal and that she looked at my ID and had signed off on it the first time. She said that it's their policy that you need a drivers license as a first form of ID. I asked to see a copy of the policy and she printed it off the computer and brought it over to me. I told her that it was bull crap because not everyone has a drive'rs license and asked to speak to a manager.
She said there was no manager in so I could go to a different branch or come back on Monday when the manager should be in. I was rightfully upset and I wasn't hiding it. I was not using any profanity, I was speaking loudly. I asked her "what next? I go get my driver's license and you're gonna ask for my social security card or you'll ask to see my mama?" She again told me that I could go to another branch if I don't have a driver's license or a passport and even told me where another branch was located.
I took back my documents and the withdrawal slip and went back home to looked for my driver's license which I had misplaced and found it. I went back to the branch for the third time and waited in line for the same teller. When it was my turn I went up to her and without saying a word I put my driver's license, my federal ID and the withdrawal slip in front of her on the counter. She picked them up and said "I'll be right back." I did not answer her. She went into a room across from the lobby and after about a minute a different lady came out of the office with my withdrawal slip and both ID's and said unfortunately they cannot give me the money because, and I quote "you wasn't been nice to the teller."
I asked who she was and she said she was an associated. I told her that I didn't have to be nice to anyone and asked her if I'm supposed to be on hands and knees to get my own money. She then changed her tone and said that the teller don't feel safe and that I was cussing at the teller and that they don't appreciate that kind of language in the bank. Again I never cursed at the teller, I only told her how I felt about them giving me the run around and I wasn't mumbling but I wasn't shouting either. I left and went to a different branch about 2 miles away and gave the teller the withdrawal slip and one form of ID and he gave me my money.

Extremely disappointed with PNC. Having my wife take up numerous documents over a 2 month period, making it very clear that we were asking for an equity loan to pay off three high % CC, they switched the loan request at signing and we inadvertently signed papers for PNC to pay off our current equity. Once I was able to figure out HOW they generated their numbers, we contacted them and were told they only allow a single equity at any one time. First we'd heard of this and asked that our prior equity be returned to its old status and nullify this current document since it's so obviously clear, this isn't what we went in asking for.
This was Nov 17th, 2014. Today is Feb 3rd, 2015. This claim was turned over to the 'escalation' department for investigation in late Nov. We've failed to have a change in our account, we've failed to get return phone calls, these past 2 months. Now, we're getting phone calls saying we're overdue on payments. We've asked that the account go 'frozen' as a matter of record until PNC can complete their own INTERNAL investigation, yet, we still get these phone calls.
The local branch loan officer acknowledged that our request wasn't what we've gotten and the local branch manager wouldn't even talk to my wife, but turned it over to the escalation department immediately. We're not being given information...can't get corporate involvement. The account is frozen so we can't use it if we wanted to. I told them that in good faith, we'd create an escrow account to show that we're willing to pay what we believe is the fair amount, which is the old equity monthly payment. Yet, we're being harassed and nothing is getting this to end.
Given the escalation officer said it'd be done by Jan 12th no less. PNC allowed us to sit down with them for 2 months working out details and bringing in documents for payoff, then at time of signing, without telling us, switched the terms and created something completely different without explaining to us what was happening. YES, SHAME ON US, for not reading all the fine print, but SHAME ON PNC for conducting business like they're working out the corner house's basement!!! What are we supposed to do? Why isn't there a time frame where a loan can be cancelled? With such overwhelming evidence that it ISN'T what we were there for in the first place. Anything?

Not knowing this but seeing a fee I asked my financial adviser to consolidate this account with the others we had been talking about for a month. I had several accounts and only one would not allow the transfer. He had a signed letter from me for the transfer just like all the others banks I had 401k or IRA account with at the time. This was early 2014 about March or April.
He was told he needed a copy of my statement and I went to my local office and was told by the manager they did not have that information and I would have to speak to the Investment group. I spoke to them and they told me it was a bank IRA but he would have them send me a copy, that was mid 2014 June or July. I never got a copy till yesterday. Because I had a checking account with PNC and they have local branches we went to them for a pre-qualification letter and immediately obtained one. I have a great credit score and much more than adequate assets. We placed our offer and it was accepted promptly.
We took all requested documents to PNC and applied. The seller and I both requested a closing in 5 weeks at year's end, and PNC assured us that it would not even take that long and this loan would go right through. Our funds were verified for the down payment and we even took money from a retirement account to cover the closing as well. We had to pay $4000 in taxes to do that but figured the closing tax deductions would help offset that.
PNC began a process of requiring the most ridiculous documents that I have ever experienced and never returned phone call or emails. They lost crucial documents and conducted a blaming game of blaming other internal employees of Pnc. The end result was that they missed 5 closing dates and allowed all contracts to expire after 7 weeks of no responses. I needed to obtain an extension of the contract to continue but Pnc would not commit to a firm closing so the seller refused to extend the contract. We in turn lost our earnest money, Pnc fees, and thousands of dollars. Pnc even refused to refund my application fees or send me the appraisal. Could this be age discrimination??? I would never, never use Pnc bank for anything ever. Worst experience of my life.

So now I'm out of a 144.00 dollars and no one cares I will be closing this account today. 4 overdraft fees in one night not cool at all.

I had a nice, friendly local bank that I absolutely loved. However, I was moving out of state from East Lansing, MI. to Hatfield, PA. and needed a bank that was located in both areas so I didn't have to carry all of my money around during the move. I regrettably chose PNC Bank. While signing up for PNC, I had let the woman who handled the account creation know that I was moving out of state and didn't want the debit card yet until I knew the new address. She told me it was no problem and would arrive before I moved so just to send it to the Michigan address.
Hesitantly, I agreed to do this. Anyway, account created... move ahead a couple of months, I am now in Hatfield, PA. I never received the card. I had mail forwarding placed at the post office but I still didn't receive it even though I was receiving all of my other mail that was forwarded. I went into the local PNC branch and they replaced the card, no problem. What they didn't tell me was that there was a fee to do this, even though I explained what happened and that I never received the card in the first place. When I found out about the fee, I went in and told them I wanted that money put back into my account. Eventually, they did so.
Fast forward to today, seven months after I opened the account. All of a sudden, I was getting fees for having paper statements. 2 dollars for each statement. Even though when opening the account, my girlfriend and I specifically asked if there would be any fees and we were told a blatant lie that there would be no fees, including for having paper statements. On top of that, apparently one of my accounts went $1.41 under the minimum balance, so they charged me a fee of 7 dollars! They refused to refund that money because I already had a request on the account to refund money from when they messed up the mailing of the debit card. I immediately closed the account and will never do business with them again. There are way too many hidden fees to list here, so I strongly advise you never do business with PNC bank.

I am a full-time college student at the moment, needless to say we don't have cash floating around much. Well I have an account along with my mom and I have been doing banking with them for a long time and never had a problem until recently, in the past year or so things have gone downhill. I have had charges for overdrawn money. I am set up to get notifications on my phone of my outstanding balance, but it is kind of useless because it will deceive you into thinking you enough money and then you don't. There is also a lengthy delay when depositing checks and money. There is also a new fee that will be charged to your account if you do not have a minimum of 500 dollars!
I never heard of this and never had a problem until now. Needless to say I will be canceling my account with PNC ASAP!! I am not the only one, I have heard many complaints from other as well. They are a joke and just want to take your money with any excuse they can think of! I have lost trust in banks for the meantime and will AVOID PNC at all costs.

Last time we called, they stated that it was a mistake and apologized and said they would fix it. I guess not, because he is still get fees. They are minimal fees, but the point is if something is free, it should be clearly free - without these tiny fees being deducted from the account.

I deposited $1,305 in a PNC ATM at a local branch (I have had account there for nine years). The ATM malfunctioned and I was told to contact the branch. I contacted the branch right away and the checks were located and it was verified they were not deposited into my account. (I thankfully saved the voicemail acknowledging this). $1,305 was credited to my account and I was told this was resolved. Almost two months later, I get a letter from PNC saying they don't have the checks and for me to contact the issuers of the checks (that I don't have and haven’t thought about for a month) to get new checks. I contact the branch; they tell me not to worry.
PNC takes the $1,305 out of my account. Says they no longer can find the checks and they may have shredded them. Numerous calls and emails with no resolution - PNC takes no ownership of their mistakes. Bottom line: PNC ATMs are unreliable. PNC can't hold on to a check once they have it in hand. (In my opinion, a bank that can't do this hasn't an adequate grasp of the basics). ZERO customer service and taking no ownership for the problems they create.

I've been a customer of National City Bank for about 25 years and have had a free checking account. I basically use this account for automatic withdrawal from my mortgage company. So basically, each month money goes in and the same comes out. I rarely check my account as this is all I use it for. I recently noticed my balance being lower than it should have been, so I logged in to check the status. I noticed I've been receiving a $2 "Paper Statement" fee and an "F2" fee of $7 since July. What?? This is supposed to be a free checking account. I searched online for an explanation and saw many complaints! It says "you need to maintain a balance." I opened this account knowing I would not be maintaining a balance! It's Sunday, so I can't contact the bank. I checked my statements and received no notification of this change! I will be closing this account. I've just given this bank over $50 for no reason.

I am not a fan of PNC bank. I have been forced to deal with them due to the needs of my aging parents. There is an amazing representative in the Elkton, MD branch that my parents have been seeing. She is the only reason that I have not had their accounts moved once they became dependent on me. Both were placed in a local nursing home, which has not been easy. I could not meet my mother's needs here at home after she became fully immobile. I have had great difficulty and resistance in closing out her credit card. I took a day off of work to tie up loose ends early in December. I went to the branch that knows us well with my copy of Power Of Attorney for Mom to close her credit card. The representative said she had to call the credit card department.
They took all of her information to prove her identity, but refused to close the card. They said the copy of POA had to be sent to them first. She faxed it over, I waited a couple of days. Then I called the credit card department. The man I spoke with denied knowledge of my POA, telling me it could take 10 business days for the form to be approved. I told him that it is not OK for Mom to have an open card and this could lead to identity theft or false charges on her account. I asked for his supervisor, and went through the whole dialogue and refusal to cancel with her. I asked to speak with her supervisor. Same story, we had to wait. She said the only way to close the card now is to go to the nursing home and have Mom call. I explained how bad she is and has trouble hearing and understanding much. She said this was the only way to bypass a wait.
I had to drive to the nursing home, get Mom out of bed and on the phone and put the call through. Once I was able to see that they asked enough questions and Mom could not comprehend any more, I took over. Suddenly this representative could speak with me. She saw that my name was listed as POA on the screen. I am not sure how the last three representatives missed this. She assured me the card was closed. New Years Eve, an auto ship vitamin order for her next three month supply arrived. The product was billed to her PNC card! She can't take any supplements in the nursing home, so she can't use the product. I can return it but she will still have to pay for the shipping cost. The bottom line is that the card was supposed to be closed and this never should have gone through.
So I waited until the branch reopened after the holiday and went in. I guess I expected to hear an apology, but even more an "This card will be closed immediately." Not... Rather the claim that the POA was never received. Never mind the last representative who lied and said that it was on file! Now all of this has to go through resolution. The POA paperwork must be resubmitted to the credit card department, which is now going through the resolution department. This could be at least 7 to 10 days to be approved, before there is any chance of having the card closed. It does not matter to those in power in credit or resolution that the local branch has already cleared the paperwork for POA and formally approved it. So Mom has an open credit card and is at risk of having it used, I have spent hours of precious time trying to close something that should have been closed upon my first attempt, and who knows yet if this attempt will be successful. Will this POA fax be list in the dust as the first one? Will I have to keep cycling through this process? Only time will tell....

Meanwhile our house is going further into foreclosure. PNC does NOT want to process loan modifications; they don't have a department or person you can call, they don't have a mailing address to send the documents certified mail. What they do have is a fax number that you are to send the documents to, 97 pages of documents to be exact!!
We finally gave up and tried to file chapter 13 but then I lost my job just before the bankruptcy was to go through and we had to withdraw from filing. At this point our lawyer told us there was no way to save our house. We moved out and decided to short sale our home. We got a non contingent offer with eager buyers and PNC approved the short sale and the offer. But then 2 weeks after approving the short sale PNC CHANGED THEIR MINDS! PNC decided to let the house go into foreclosure citing that the house was too far into the foreclosure process and had a sheriff sale date. Once again we gave up.
WE are now forced to file chapter 7 and risk losing all of our savings and any assets we have. But after searching through the internet to see what the house sold for on sheriff sale I found our old house is now being sold by PNC through Town and Country Realty. There's not even a sheriff sale taking place. I cannot even begin to explain how pissed off I am that this ** hole of a bank is pushing good hardworking people out of their homes for the sheer profit of what they will make by selling the homes!!! We bought our house in 2005 and paid $340,700 and the house is now worth $240,000. PNC was bailed out on mortgages that were issued during the height of the mortgage and housing market. SO TELL ME, WHY WOULD THEY HELP THEIR CUSTOMERS??!! They will make more money letting the loan foreclose since they are covered by the Government and then they can resell MY home to make a profit.

On December 5th, I deposited a paycheck to my PNC checking account. I have had the account since 2008 and I've been depositing a paycheck every Friday via the mobile app from the same employer for nearly two years. I kept my PNC account when I moved to VA since I anticipate moving back to PA soon. On December 10th, they withdrew the amount of the check from my checking account. I called PNC to ask why and the representative told me it looked like a student loan company made the withdrawal. I then spent a while on the phone with my loan company who confirmed they did no such thing. I called PNC back and after a while on hold, they finally were able to tell me that they actually withdrew that paycheck I deposited.
I understand that the ink on my paycheck was light that week, but that is no reason to withdraw several hundred dollars from someone's checking account. If the ink was too light, they shouldn't have accepted the check in the first place when I took the initial deposit photos. They should not get to decide, several days later, that they change their minds. Their consumer funds availability policy does not outline this situation specifically, nor does it give a time frame in which they are allowed to just withdraw paychecks.

I've been with PNC since they were National City--once they became PNC I started to have some issues. Nothing major. My mortgage is with them, and with that came a line of credit. This line of credit they had set up to double as overdraft protection. Fine by me. BUT one day I noticed some fraudulent charges on my statement from my checking account. So, I went up to the bank, and ultimately the woman helping me set me up with new accounts, new cards, etc. and closed out my old account....or so I was told. She had me withdraw funds to hold me over until my new cards arrived, since she destroyed my old one and was moving the rest of my money to the new accounts. All of that went just fine. However, NOW, years later I'm told I owe $1,500.00+ on this line of credit, which I no longer had access to, as it had been attached to the account I closed.
I was told that "advances had been made numerous times on that line of credit". I asked how that was possible, since (as I already stated) I had no way to access it. "Well, we can't tell how it was done, you'll have to go to your nearest branch to find that out." THEN I'm told that the account, which was supposed to be closed, hadn't been closed until October of this year! (2014) But, that payments had been being made on this line of credit....until October. How is that possible? Let me tell you: since the line of credit had been set up as overdraft protection, and the account was never closed out, it would give advances to the checking account, since it obviously didn't have enough money in it, and then it would pay itself back from the advance. (and then it would repeat the process).
I was never told that I couldn't close out the account. Now they claim that it was never closed out because I had an "outstanding balance" on the line of credit. Which, I was also never told. (We all know they have loopholes to make it your fault for being unaware that they didn't do as they were supposed to--so, we'll leave that for now.)
To me, it's common sense/knowledge/courtesy to make that information available, and ask the client to pay off the debt so the account can be closed. Of course, that didn't happen.
So, the line of credit is constantly cycling through, lending to this empty checking account, and paying itself back over and over, again. Slowly but surely making the debt larger and larger. And suddenly the account is closed and I'm being asked to make payments to get it "up to date", which is how I found out the account wasn't ever closed when it was supposed to be.
Let me repeat: I'm now told, the reason the account wasn't able to be closed years back when I wanted it to was because I had an "outstanding balance" on my line of credit. (Which I can estimate was maybe $30.00 at the time.) Now I REALLY have an "outstanding balance"...and they closed the account. Which, according to them, can't be done....because there's an "outstanding balance".
I know they're hoping I'll just pay it. They'll threaten my credit, etc. try to bully me, anything but take responsibility for their snafu. (Or bother explaining to me why the "outstanding balance" has to be REALLY outstanding before they'll randomly close the account years later. I guess $30.00 doesn't line your pockets as nicely as $1,500.00+ would. I'm surprised they didn't use up the entire line of credit before finally closing the account.)
After this, I'm moving all of my accounts, and I'll likely be refinancing with a more trustworthy bank. I refuse to give PNC anymore of my business.

Okay so I have been with PNC since I was 17 years old. Loved the people that worked there, and loved the pain-free process of having an account without a monthly fee. Fast forward 9 years later and I have multiple accounts with them now, one of which over-drafted. Since that over-draft (9 consecutive days) I have been charged a total of $229 in both "Over draft" fees ($7 per day) and "Over draft item" fees ($36 per occurrence). Not knowing about this "Over draft item" fee, I assumed the normal $7 per day fee. I had a $288 loan payment which I have NEVER missed since I got the loan a few years back. I put over $400 into the account then soon realized that wasn't enough (Wasn't aware of the $229 they charged me).
This is absolutely unacceptable. I'd rather have my card come up as declined than pay $36 to cover a $19.99 charge. Or as PNC does it (This is directly from the account view) a total of $79 to cover that said $19.99 charge. Oh and after my loan charge didn't clear, I was charged another fee, then given back money into my account... which makes no sense at all. Mind blown.

In Lancaster County, PA, I had a business line of credit with PNC and I was the personal guarantor. In Early 2014, I let them know that I was no longer in business, had no means of making payments on the $250,000 balance, but would pay it off upon the sale of my residence which was already on the market. In April, I received notice of judgment filed in Lancaster County Court, in amount of $279,000 which included attorney's fees and late fees and interest. On May 29th, I accepted an offer for sale of my residence. Closing would be on June 27, 2014. I would net $101,000 after paying the PNC judgment and the home selling expenses. On closing day, the settlement agent had not been able to find record of the PNC judgment so I was given a check for $380,000. I drove back to NC with it, intending to pay PNC the following week as soon as the check cleared.
But PNC learned of the transaction, filed an injunction which prevented me from using any of the funds and I had to drive back to PA for a hearing on the following Monday, July 7. On that day, I thought that the judge would order me to pay PNC and then he would release the remaining $101,000. Instead, he said he was running late for a wedding he was officiating for and he would decide later but continuing the injunction. I was devastated as I wasn't getting any money to pay my other bills. Both through an attorney and pro se, I pleaded for release of the uncontested funds but PNC attorney promptly filed Motion Not to Release Uncontested Funds, saying that I had surreptitiously tried to defraud them and apparently I had no plans to pay them and that I would continue the case long enough to use more than $279,000 once $19.25 per day is added.
This went on for 60 days, judge making no decision, my attorney ineffective and I am getting calls from creditors asking when they can expect payment. So I filed for Chapter 7 in Eastern District of NC, U.S. Bankruptcy Court. The phone is silent now, but my worries for the next 10 years have only just begun. As far as I know, the PNC item remains unsettled, my other creditors have lost and so have I. All because of a courthouse error and a greedy PNC Bank attacking me for something I had no idea could ever occur. So if you borrow from PNC, pay them back as fast as you can and go to First Citizens or anywhere besides PNC. If you deposit with them, make sure you never overdraw your account. They will scam you. No kidding.
In April 2014 PNC was ordered to refund $90 million to depositors whom they scammed when they would have multiple overdrafts at once. This had gone on for five or more years. They posted the smaller checks first, that way they were able to squeeze multiple bad check charges in a single day vs. one or two. Get my drift? PNC, the scammer, accused me, a single woman with now no assets and no credit and no hope for 10 years. Now what if I had a husband, would my cries for help have been more audible? What if I had put money down on a new home in NC? Would PNC and the PA Court have stood by and let me lose my deposit? We'll never know, unless this case is tried and there would be a chance to ask these questions. Thank you for listening and for your prayers.

Holidays quickly approaching, my husband not wanting to wait any longer for his debit card asked for some kind of resolution; at the least a refund for the $7.50 card replacement fee. The supervisor conveniently got disconnected at that time. We called back.. another 20 minute wait..
Long story short - the card will be out this week, the fee removed. Disappointed with PNC's ability to service a lifelong customer is an understatement! They did absolutely nothing, correct their wrongs until we caught them on it. The new debit card would not even be on its way without us calling. They had no intention of notifying us of the glitch, or no intentions of really mailing out a card after the glitch. I think it is time to change banks.

On Thursday, I receive an email alert in the afternoon that my account is overdrawn by $70. At 9:40 that night I check my balance via the phone system, and it again tells me account is overdrawn by $70. Knowing I'm to get a payroll direct deposit on Friday, I transfer $100 (before 10pm) to cover the overdraft and have $30 left over. The next week I get an overdraft notice of $20 (was covered by overdraft protection, but still incurs a $10 nuisance fee). It turns out a check for $50 was posted Friday, yet went against Thursday's balance.
HUH? Went back and forth with CS, but it turns out checks are posted between 12-6am FOR THE PREVIOUS DAY. The customer is cut off at 10pm for making transfers for that day's balance, but the bank can process (literally) the next day and have it charged against the previous day. My direct deposit went in before 6am on Friday and it posted on Friday. The bank clears a check on Friday morning and it's posted as of Thursday.

I have had 3 different instances with this bank that I feel the public should be made aware of. The first happened several years ago. I had a mutual account with the pnc investments. The original funds were from a cd that was given to me by my deceased grandfather in which I placed in both my and my husband's name for our son. 2 weeks after my divorce, pnc sent a check for that investment to my ex husband and pnc bank cashed said check in which my ex husband forged my signature on. When I called the bank I was told that the investment side would send new check but that it would have to be put into my and my ex husband's name.
I left the bank for several years but decided to reopen a new account when they offered a $200 bonus for new accounts. The day I opened the account the bank representative informed me that I could not be considered for this because I had banked with them in the past so it could not be considered a new account. I opened it anyhow. A few days later I deposited my work check (which is also from pnc bank) and a few days after that was informed that my account was overdrawn and that I had several nsf against said account. When I inquired why I was told that it was because it was a new account and that they held my deposited check for 10 days totally contradicting what was previously told to me.
Again, I left but several years after that I went to pnc to be added to my current husband's business account. We explained to Gabe at pnc that the reason I want added was that my husband's health conditions were not all that good and we wanted reassurance that if anything happened to him I want to be joint owner so that I may withdraw upon the account in the event of his death. Gabe gave us papers which we signed and assured us that it was joint ownership only to discover later that it is not. Then they took money that was deposited by me from a check that was in my name only to cover a payment owed by only my husband. If Gabe would have been truthful from the beginning I would not have deposited any of my personal funds into that account. This is a very deceitful bank that tells consumers what they want to hear then conducts their business to benefit the bank and not the public.

We confirm from the SS administrator then the other bank I have an account with and credit union said "It's up to her if she wants to open the account since you're very well alive and sitting in front of her" but she still refuse to open the account. After 3 hrs of waste she just said "I am sorry, couldn't help you much." So please people don't waste your time. Bank sucks. You don't know what's behind the picture.

We have had our checking account for nearly thirty years, first with a local bank that was purchased by City National Bank, which was subsequently purchased by PNC. Twice this week we have had checks returned for NSF, stating the account has been closed. Contacting the bank about the first instance, the bank employee blamed it on the other company for failing to properly submit the payment request. Then, in the mail today, we get a letter from another company saying that check had also bounced.
I looked at our account summary online, and there is quite a sufficient amount to cover both checks. Interestingly, at least another dozen or so checks written in that same time period have cleared with no issue. I will call the bank again tomorrow, to once again address this problem. Perhaps it is time to find another bank....

She finally said she didn't have time to do my deposit and handed it off to another clerk. When the deposit was off, I thought maybe we just added a check amount wrong.
After further checking we came to find out that 13 checks from our deposit were missing! Two weeks ago I had gone to the post office, my PNC check card declined as debit and credit. Luckily I had cash, paid with cash went straight to the Mount Airy PNC branch. Explained my card declined, teller looked at my account and said she did not see anything where I tried to pay at the post office at all. The teller said the post office card system must have been having problems. A couple days later the post office debit charge had cleared my account in the amount of $21.30. I go back to the same PNC branch, showed my receipt from the post office that I paid cash. Teller said I will need to do a dispute. The branch manager ** filled out the dispute information, made a copy of my receipt and said the I will get something in the mail from PNC where I will need to answer a few questions, and that I should see the $21.30 back into my account within 10 days.
** then told me that I did not need to do anything else. Normally check cards are cancelled when a dispute is made, but since it is not a fraud situation my card would not be affected. I got the credit back to my account, nothing in the mail to answer questions. Today I go to the grocery store, I go to pay for $297.00 worth of groceries and my card declines. I called the local PNC branch, the woman on the other end looks at my account and says it looks like a magnetic strip problem. She needs to make a phone call about it and will call me back. I have the grocery store manager manually type in my card number, and declined. PNC calls me back and tells me that my card was cancelled due to the disputed charge. I drive over to the bank to get cash. I admit I was yelling when I got there because I then realized that my medication order (mail order pharmacy) is not being paid as well now.
** the branch manager was not there for me to speak to. The woman at the branch made multiple phone calls while I sat in front of her while she looked into my card being canceled issue. She also asked that my medication order be force paid. She was told no. She then proceeded to tell me that a new card needed to be ordered for me. I asked why one was not being sent out automatically, she said that I needed to request it. I told her that I did not know I needed to, since I did not know my current one was cancelled. She told me that I might have it by Saturday. Mind you no mail on Sunday and Federal Holiday Monday. So PNC will cancel a check card without telling you, and they don't bother sending a replacement either. She told me that she would let ** the branch manager know what happened when he comes in tomorrow.
I kept telling her I specifically asked ** this, she said the system automatically does the canceling and that ** must have left that part out. I go back to the grocery store pay cash, come home, call my mail order pharmacy, explain to them what happened to be sure my medication would still ship. I now have to wait for a new check card, that I might have Saturday, then I am going to need to call everyone that has my card on file for payment to give them a new number. I specifically asked ** the branch manager when I did the dispute if this would happen, and I was told no. I will have hours in getting various places updated with new card information, not to mention the hassle of the grocery store.
If I had gone to the store an hour later PNC would have been closed and I would have been left high and dry. I would rather have lost the $21.30 that cleared my account than deal with this hassle. "Sorry, there is nothing we can do" does not work for me. As soon as I get an account elsewhere and my direct deposit gets transferred I will be closing my checking and savings account. Not sure what consequences I will have to deal with yet on any automatic billings I have set up against the card.

I had a home equity line with PNC Bank with a $138,000 credit line. They sent me a notice in 2011 saying they were suspending my credit line because my home value had dropped. I totally understood as all home in California went down in value. Recently I called them to see if I could re-open the account since my house was recently appraised at almost $800,000 - they said I had to pay for a formal appraisal and if it came in at over $750,000 I could get the line re-opened. I paid $475 for an appraisal and the appraisal showed $770,000 as the value - so I called to ask when my account would be re-opened. They said I would get a letter in 30 days.
Over 60 days passed and I called - they said they could not "find" my appraisal. So I faxed a copy I had of the appraisal - and they send me a letter saying my account was originally closed because It had late payments - which is totally not true. I was never late on a payment. They could not tell me when this supposed "late payment" happened - so I asked for proof of my late payment and for them to review. I called again and they told me the account was suspended due to the account being in collections in 2008 - which is crazy as I only got the account in 2008 and never even used it in 2008 and again it was never late. They cannot show me anything that my account was late. They never call me back and I am out $475 for an appraisal I paid for at their insistence and they will not re-open my account. What can I do??

The check had been written to CitiCard, and when we received the next statement, even though it was three weeks later, there was a $16,000 credit, so PNC had not corrected that. Then I went to the local branch to get this resolved. The bank manager was rude and would not take responsibility for this whole fiasco. She said it must have been CitiCard's fault. I paid off my car loan (about 6 months early) via my online account and went into the bank to get the title a week or two later. I was told it wasn't actually in the branch itself, though it was the branch I initiated the loan. I was told I would get it in the mail in about a month. Glad I bugged them? Anyways about 2-3 months later I realized I never received the title in the mail, so I went back in to the same branch. A guy at the window said he couldn't help me right away because he wasn't the loan guy then could when I told him what the problem was. Then I had to sit and wait after he checked and couldn't figure things out for himself. It was going on 15 minutes and I couldn't stay any longer.
I ended up coming back a third time and finally talked to two loan officers. They had a hard time finding my loan info. Turns out that YES, even though I had updated my address in my account every time I moved, they were seeing my loan at an address that I lived at THREE PLACES AGO and that information was never updated in their systems. This was not something I had access to, but obviously one would think that would be an important part of their internal process to make sure is correct.
So, you guessed it, they had emailed my title two months ago to this old address and now it's lost there as I have no way to contact that place (it was a rent house of a former owner). It probably ended up in the trash. So, I was concerned about what happens if someone has my title? That's got to be an easy way to commit some kind of fraud I would think if the wrong person got a hold of it? Why can't they just keep their internal customer records straight? Such a simple thing but apparently not for this joke of a bank.
Thankfully they "provided" me a release of lien notice a couple weeks later, but now to get a new title for my car should I ever end up selling it or whatever, I have to make a special trip to the BMV now. I wonder how many other people have to do the same thing? If their entire loan system can't track accounts properly between branches and their online banking system this is a huge burden on consumers and I hope there's a class action that rewards all of us involved at least a fee to compensate for our unnecessary visits to the BMV to make up for PNC's lazy and irresponsible business practices that also potentially exposes us to fraud involved with our vehicle titles.

And every few months I'm short at least $35-$50 from my account and they can't tell me why or where it went. I'm going back to the credit union where I don't have to worry about my deposits being delayed or my money vanishing. Worst bank ever next to the problems B of A had in the 80's and 90's. Love to have my missing money and fees returned. I'm sure some schmuck used my hard earned money to buy his vacation or midlife crisis.

I had deposited a $4,000 check that was made out to myself and my husband. The bank decided to reject it without notifying me and so-called "mailed it back to me". The address on the account hadn't been changed because I was moving again in less than three weeks and didn't feel it necessary to change the address twice in so little time. When I realized that the money never hit the account, I decided to call and find out what happened.
I was told that the check was rejected because the second person on the check was not on the account. We both signed the check and deposited. NO ONE bothered to notify me, if that had been done I would have merely given them my correct address, and as of today, almost 3 weeks later, I still don't have my $4,000 that PNC actually claims they mailed to me. I needed this money to purchase a new home and it is affecting me.
I want someone to contact me, to tell me that everything will be okay and here is your money. They put it off on me and told me to have the payer cancel the check and issue a new one. They put the burden on me without any regret. I threatened to close my account. Once I receive the money I will and make sure that everyone knows of my experience with PNC.

Overdrew my checking with National City by 5 dollars. Got an overdraft charge plus 8 dollar a day fee. Everyday it stayed overdrawn and racked up 152 dollars. I was only 18 at the time and got paid biweekly. I am 28 now and still can't get a checking account because of this until it shows as paid. National City says it was overdrawn because of account abuse.

Perhaps, it is because we are not customers. A Line of Credit that was assigned to Provident Bank, and later purchased by PNC was paid off, but a release of lien was NEVER recorded back in 2004. Fast forward, an attempt to clean up this lien has been nothing short of a nightmare, since 7/10/2014. Called and received information to begin this process on 7/10, a Fax was sent to the number provided, TWICE. Was informed at the initial call that the process took 5 - 7 days (assumed business days).
5 days later I called, they NEVER received it & it was inferred that we screwed up, repeated the number & informed PNC that we had a copy that confirmed they received the fax. Now depending on who you spoke to (if you actually got through the electronic HELL), the story changed?!!? Now we are off and running...on the "runaround", rude, arrogant, condescending and supercilious. To date, the matter has NOT been resolved (8/27). EVERYTHING is a we "CAN'T DO THAT". There is more, but no space to complete this complaint.

I have been with PNC Bank for over 7 years and I have always had free checking. I usually look online for my account activity and I have noticed these past few months they have been charging me $7.00 every month for something they call a calculated service charge type F2 and also charging me $2.00 a month for paperless statements. I do not recall receiving anything stating I will be getting these charges and I never signed anything saying I consented to these charges. I called the bank and they told me they sent out something in April stating there will be some account changes which I did not recall receiving. Either way I will be looking for a new bank today.

I just had a Ch 13 discharged after 4.5 years of making $500.00 payments a month. PNC suddenly started reporting account as collection account, the month the bankruptcy was discharged (this means my legal obligation to pay debts was extinguished). They further are reporting that I am over 600 dollars behind on my payments. I am going to the US Attorney for a violation of the Bankruptcy order wherein they were a listed creditor. I am seeking attorneys fees and punitive damages. They are hurting my credit by willfully misreporting the status of a debt on a credit report. They bought the debt from the original creditor and are obviously thinking that people are too stupid to fight them once Bankruptcy is over. This is one time they will be explaining to a federal judge and a US attorney why they violated a federal law. There is NO excuse for their credit reporting or collection attempts.

After decades of several bank's charge, a very poor person and new cash deposit ATM, I bolt even at 1:46am like I just did after I checked my account online. This bank has even tried things like this several times, it has turned out well if I bolt for the ATM.

Disrespectful Personal Banker 3750 Old Norcross Road - I am the owner of two Real Estate Companies. Georgia's Best Real Estate Services, and Milwaukee's Best Real Estate Services. I just wanted to let you know that I am very disappointed about what happened with your personal banker ** on yesterday. I came in to close a new account I had just opened because I was unhappy with the policies and procedures. ** was the most rude, ghetto and disrespectful person that I have ever met at any bank. She raised her voice, yelled at me, stood up, pointed her finger at me just because I asked her to work on my transactions and she wouldn't do that. She chose to argue with me instead. She refused to complete my transactions. Even though we had several disagreements, I never screamed or yelled at her, but she did it to me. There was no reason for her to yell and point her finger at me but she did.
She slammed papers down on the desk of **. ** didn't explain to ** why she was doing that. ** didn't know where we had left off with the transaction. She tried to have ** not serve me when she was the one in the wrong. She thought that I was going to leave without my money even though she knew that my check had cleared. She refused to continue helping me and did not complete my transactions. Instead, she chose to start helping other customers. All I wanted was my money if they had a problem closing my account. Which they had problems with doing both but they could have been resolved had she finished her job the way she was supposed to do. This situation could have been resolved in a much better way. However, ** became angry because I continued to ask questions about why we were having problems with my transactions.
She was very unprofessional, and claimed that I was ordering her around, when I just asked her to do her job which she didn't do. She just kept arguing! She left all of the work on **, who was extremely professional and worked diligently to complete my transaction. There is nothing wrong with me expressing my complete dissatisfaction with the bank's policies and I addressed that while I was there and explained to her why I wanted to close my account or to withdraw my money. She became unruly, closed the door in my face, after she came out of the office and she refused to continue helping me. She wanted to send me away without my money. She didn't want ** to help me either.
I am filing a complaint with the regulatory commission that handles your bank as well as the CEO. No one like ** should have a job like that if she cannot handle a dissatisfied customer who wants their money or wants to close their account. I know there were issues because of where I opened the account and things were not handled appropriately on their end. So I will be filing a complaint against (Jonesboro) them too. I would fire ** immediately for her actions if she worked for any one of my businesses and her demeanor was extremely poor and terribly wrong. I will not recommend anyone to patronize a bank in any state who doesn't value their customers. I really feel like she is a jealous, bitter, black woman, (by the way, I am black) who doesn't like a customer to speak their mind, or disagree with the way I was being treated. I should be allowed to ask as many questions as I want to make sure I understand what's going on whether she likes that or not. She asked me for information that I shouldn't have had to provide. She wanted me to kiss her behind to finish my transactions.
She had a difficult time explaining things to me, and ** did a much better job doing that without becoming irate. ** is someone who needs to take an Anger Management Course and needs more professional development in that area on how to deal with unsatisfied customers. She had absolutely no reason to behave the way she did! Point blank, period! I'm complaining to the State and also the higher ups. This shouldn't be tolerated by any means on any level. And by the way, she didn't seem to care about whether I was going to come to you. Maybe she doesn't like her job or wants to be fired. I'm hearing from other people that lots of people here in Georgia don't like to work! I'm seeing it more and more here! I don't really think she cares about her job. If she did, do you really think she would behave this way towards a customer? I'll let you answer that!

I am a US veteran living on disability. Last month, I (stupidly) went on a website that offered a "free" credit report. They charged my debit card $1, so that was expected and did no harm. About a week later, PNC messaged me that my account was overdrawn. It seems that website had charged my account $29.95 which I did NOT authorize. I called the website company and they agreed to refund the money. I thought "OK, that's settled". Not by a long shot. PNC proceeded to charge me a $36 overdraft fee, even though the company had refunded their transaction (the money NEVER actually left my account).
To make matters worse, I had Netflix setup to auto pay and when they charged my account it added ANOTHER $36 overdraft fee. Well, when my disability came in on the 1st, PNC grabbed "their" money first, which left my other monthly expenses unable to be met.. so even though they got their money, my other bills hit my account and I ended up $4 negative again. During this time I made a trip to the local branch and all the rep there would do was give me the number to customer service. Well, as you can tell from some of the other stories here, that didn't help much.
So again, they added 2 more $36 charges and now they are charging me $7 a day until I pay off a $70 negative balance. I really don't know where I am supposed to get this money. I have been a customer with PNC for about 7 years and haven't really had a lot of problems with them, until now. The transaction that started all this was refunded to my account BEFORE the money actually left my account, but they still charged me $36 (on a $29.95 transaction), then charged me another $36 for my Netflix transaction. I don't know how they can stay in business treating customers this way.
I would never let my account go negative, as I know there are a ton of fees if you do, but this time it is PNC billing that is destroying my credit account. With roughly $800 income a month, how can I afford to pay almost $180 in fees this month, which all started with a transaction I did not authorize but which was refunded. As soon as I can figure out how, I will be switching to a local credit union and dropping PNC. I can't afford their capricious attitude toward MY money. I just don't believe it is legal to drain my disability money just because they are a greedy bank.

I was told by the PNC branch that when you deposit cash it's available immediately, by two different branches. I had a pending transaction for August 8 of 2014 which I made a cash deposit on the same day which left my account positive $.56. Today August 9 of 2014, I checked my bank account and that I was $-35.46 due to a return item fee. I called customer service right away, I spoke with the supervisor by the name of Mike which he stated that I did not make the cash deposit by 10 o'clock central time. Unfortunately, that deposit went in at 9:12pm central time. Also, I explained to him that when cash was deposited in the account, I was told it was available immediately and I did tell him I have a screenshot where it says my account is positive $.56, although he did make the comment and said that that is correct, when cash is deposited it is available immediately but then he proceeded to chase the subject And stated that there was a cut off time for cash deposits.
I went to speak to the branch and the branch told me that they were not aware of that and they had no idea what I was told by this gentleman Mike. The branch also stated that when cash is deposited, there is NO cut off time that they have been ever aware of because it's available Immediately! The branch also showed me that as of August 11 of 2014 that fee is supposed to reflect into the account not as of today and the branch was also not aware that could actually even take place since today is only August 9 of 2014.
I went ahead and called customer service back and asked to speak to Mike again. He was extremely rude and told me he could not take my word by what the branch had told me because they misinformed me And I was told I should have more common sense since I'm in the legal field. He refused to allow me to speak with someone else and he also said I should enjoy my Saturday and that he is also working so he needed to let me go. He made it seem like I was there just to socialize with him.
What I don't understand is how the payment that was made on August 8, 2014 get returned the same date although the deposit was there on August 8 of 2014 and it reflected my account positive $.56. Furthermore, when I pulled the online banking, it states clearing activities for August 11 of 2014. Also, he stated that the payment that was made was never actually returned however it will be returned as of August 11 of 2014.

PNC bank allowed to be dispensed to a person committing fraudulent access to my account, Sums of cash from same account daily far in excess of my daily cash withdrawal limits on that account. PNC allowed this dispensation of cash in excess of their contractual obligations to limit cash withdrawals on the account to continue over a period of days, resulting in the draining of all funds from this account.
When I questioned a representative of PNC bank at their location in Lehighton, Pennsylvania on how these excess withdrawals were allowed to be made, they refused to answer my question, and informed me that if I continued, they would have me arrested. Currently, I have received no answer to my questions of how these withdrawals were authorized above the contractual limits. Additionally, PNC bank refuses to refund to my account the amounts dispensed to the unauthorized party which were in excess of the daily cash limits specified in the agreement creating this account.

My wife of 17 years passed away a year and a half ago. We use to live in Indiana and originally opened an account with National City. We moved to Texas, and closed all the accounts other than one she used for direct deposit. She had written a few checks prior to her sudden death. I was contacted about 2 weeks after her death that these checks had bounced. I corrected all of them. I also contacted PNC at that time to ask what happened. They explained that they had received notice of her death and froze the account. I then asked what I needed to do to close this account. They told me I needed to send the final determination from the probate court and they will release the funds to the executor. I explained to them that we live in Texas. We don't need to have probate, but it is a right to survivorship state.
After 2 months of this going around, they decided I needed to send an original death certificate. I did. 2 months later, they said they lost it or couldn't find it. So I sent another. These are $24 bucks each. I was suppose to hear from someone within 48 hours each time and never did. Next call I was transferred to legal. They had no clue how to close the account. But they said there should be a way. (Think they hire the wrong attorneys?) I had to explain them about the law, and how to do it. They said it would be done in a couple weeks.
Ok, these calls have been going on for over a year. Now I have the Affidavit from the courts showing I am the surviving spouse. I have the death certificate. I send both to them. 4 weeks later we are still waiting on if this will be enough to close the account. I was told they might have to send the check to the witness who signed the affidavit! Really? Send the check to someone who just witnessed something? How stupid can a bank get?
Our local banks only required a look at the death certificate. Only took 5 min of my time. I am working on getting the money out of her account for 1.5 years just to give it to her son. It has already cost me more than what the account is worth just to close it. To top it off, they are charging a $7 fee each month because they changed the type of account it is. This is how they treat the dead and a disabled child. Unbelievable.

I was told it had been included where the blue lettering between transactions mostly advertisements are written. I asked her why I didn't receive a message from the company since there is clearly a view message button on my account. She didn't have an answer only "I am sorry for this." Are you kidding me?
