Albert offers up to $100 instant overdraft with a linked account. But you have to turn on smart money savings for overdraft. They take large chunks of money from my other bank to “put in savings.” I honestly liked the instant overdraft but right now I have $70 pending in Albert savings, including $29 taken out this morning. When I contacted Albert to stop the transaction, they told me they couldn’t even though it hadn’t processed. The cancel button in their page wouldn’t work. Nothing works with Albert. The smart money savings is a horrible idea. They take money out and it shows pending in your savings so you can’t use it. The money just stays pending.
I wouldn’t recommend Albert. Aside from the instant overdraft, which other banks offer and better, there is next to reason to go with them. Customer support is texting with someone. They don’t offer enough features. I’ve had them for a while and was never sent a physical card even after I asked. Their virtual card will only work certain places. That’s the main reason I had to get a second bank as my main bank. I need the physical card that actually works. And to be able to deposit a check. You cannot not deposit a check into Albert. You can’t pay anyone. If your virtual Albert card doesn’t work then you’re out of luck. I’ve also had charges from subscriptions that I’ve closed and they keep coming through on Albert.

This is the worst "budgeting" app I have ever witnessed. First, it pulled money from my account without warning me or being transparent. Next, when I tried to block the app from pulling more money from my account with my bank, the app changed its merchant name to bypass the stop-hold and get more money out of my account. It changed its merchant name from "Albert Savings" to "Albert Genius." It also took a whopping $155 out of my checking account in ONE DAY claiming that it was "creating a savings account for me on the app." This is not a bank. This is an app. When I tried to get my money back, the app refunded me but then showed I had a negative balance with it. This is their trick to keep you from closing your account with them because they only let you deactivate your account when you have a balance with them of "0."

I would definitely think twice before downloading this app and using it. I ended up just forfeiting about $30 to the app just to get my account closed and not have to deal with them anymore. They throw up every obstacle you can think of to close your account And that’s after you’ve spent an hour trying to figure out how to close the account.

When you want to leave they make it the worst. They don't stop charging you. You can't talk to a real person. The texting line claims to be a real person but it doesn't answer you directly. ABSOLUTELY USELESS. Do SoFi Bank instead.

Thieves! After cancelling account with them over 3 years ago. I tried to use again for their cash advance service. Apparently they automatically subscribe you to a 14.99 payment for what? I have no clue. But after 3 years a random charge…
Reviewed July 10, 2024
If I could give them 0 stars I would. Their cash advance takes up to a week business days are the only that count before a payment is cleared and you can advance again. The monthly genius fees aren't worth the trouble or the small amount that you qualify for to advance. In fact their 14.99 has been the most expensive monthly charge I've seen of all of the other cash advance apps I've used in the past. I have been trying to cancel and close my accounts for over a week now and anytime I reach out to their customer service time it's always a new reason they can't close it.
1. It was due to my pending payment (as I said it takes a week...) Secondly it was because I couldn't confirm the last 4 of a card I no longer had in my possession with them, then it was because I had a .03 balance I couldn't transfer because it was too little. When I bitched about that magically worked after I threatened a lawyer on them and now it's going to take up to 4 business days for it to transfer even though it looks like my account is zeroed out. I'm so tired of dealing with this company and I beg that others see this review and don't even start with them. There are much better apps that give more benefits like Moneylion, Cleo, earnin, Grid, and Dave. Please look one of these other ones up instead.

Worst company! Scammer! Do not download or sign up or connect your bank with them! They will take your money without permission and will not allow you to cancel! Consumer Affairs need to delete mentioning about them, since they are scammers and they don't deserve to be promoted.

I LOATHE the Albert app! I have been trying for months to close my account but you can’t until their pending statuses have cleared. The thing is, they continue to take small or large amounts so often from my bank account so they are always pending! You can’t ever speak with a rep as I’ve tried multiple times. When you try to transfer funds from your Albert account or investments, the amount stated in your account is NOT what you can transfer back into your account to close your account. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE! Even My bank told me they can’t do anything because there’s always an Albert payment pending!

I am so disgusted with these people. How do you take from someone. Bank almost every day acting like the customers are the ones doing the transferring. My bank shut my card down, had to shut down and closed out the whole account because they sat and watched when they tried to do a transfer from my account while the account was restricted due to fraudulent fees coming out of my account. Please do not deal with these people because it's no one to call and talk to people are not to be trusted. Won't get another dime from me. I don't even use this card or seen the card

After being promoted to add my direct deposit so I can get my check a few days earlier and have access to instant cash, I connect my DD. My first check arrived $31 short and being that their customer service is already bad, it’s been almost 24 hours of hell trying to get them to return the money. I was told to contact the payroll provider who unlike Albert have decent customer service. They confirmed Albert took the $31 dollars because my pay Statement reflects what was added into that account.

Scammers! They are not helping you with any savings or loan. They just want access to your account so they can steal bits and pieces of it. If you are someone with a lot of money you may not notice it but unfortunately I have been going through financial problems so am always looking at my accounts. Stay away from downloading, agreeing to anything. You have been warned.

I am utterly disappointed with my experience using the Albert app. Despite its promising features, the process of cancelling my subscription turned into a frustrating ordeal. The app insisted I needed a $0 balance to cancel, which I complied with, yet I still faced unnecessary hurdles that prevented me from successfully cancelling my subscription. To add insult to injury, I was blindsided by an unexpected increase in the subscription fee—a change I was never notified about. This lack of transparency is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the company's values and its regard for customer satisfaction. Despite my efforts to resolve these issues directly with Albert's support team, my concerns were not taken seriously. This experience has left me with no choice but to warn others about the potential pitfalls of subscribing to this service.
I expected much more from Albert and am left feeling let down and disrespected as a customer. I am now in the process of escalating my complaint to the Better Business Bureau and will be sharing my negative experience across various review platforms to inform potential subscribers of the challenges they may face. Rating: 1/5 Stars - Not recommended due to poor customer service, lack of transparency, and unjustified price increases.

I checked my bank today and I found a deduction of $14.99 from Albert. I was concerned as to what this charge is. I remember I got rid of this app and all its data. I tried to check if my app was not deleted but I was correct, I did delete it. Then I looked up how to contact Albert and followed instructions to text them a message about closing this app/account and requested a refund of Albert taking $14.99 out of my bank account. Waiting for response.

Scam! Tells you it's a free trial for 30 days then signs you up for a genius account. I was just trying to get extra cash until payday like Brigit. This is a scam and you won't get up to 200.00. After setting it up told me could not verify my bank card but they had all my transactions listed and showed me all my subscriptions. Told me my account was too low for cash advance. Balance low is why people want advance. I don't recommend this app.

I tried to get information about the app. The only way to do that is to download it. It then ask for a debit card but says you can cancel once in the app. Once I downloaded it I did not agree and finish setting up because I knew it did not sound right. I kept trying to cancel but there is no way to cancel unless you agree and finish setting it up. This morning I wake up to charges withdrawn from my account. I still can’t cancel on the app because it does not log you in since I never agreed and finished setting up and there is no way to contact customer service. They need to be investigated and a class action lawsuit started.

I have used Albert a handful of times in a pinch, and I’ve noticed they continue to take withdrawals from my account at different intervals rather than the date my paycheck is due to deposit. I owed about $18.00 and proceeded to make an ACH payment of $19.00 on March 8th. At this point I had paid back over $100 to them. Not to mention my “membership fee”. At this point they are telling me I still have to wait 5-7 business days but my account has been suspended due to my payment being late. I threatened to file a complaint with the BBB and was told as a “courtesy” I can get a $50.00 advance. But I paid back over $100.00 with my last payment. The reason my account was suspended was due to my payment being late, when I activated the repayment a day before it was due! This company is just a fraud.

Albert used to be a highly reputable company that dealt with modest advances. Over the past year it’s clearly been taken over by scammers. They now trick you into signing up for services to be able to obtain advances. Previously these services were optional. They make it impossible to close out your account with them. They require in the app to provide your personal identification to verify who you are. They make it impossible to provide a clear image of your identification. Of course. That way you can’t cancel and they can keep hitting your bank again. I had to issue a stop payment on all future transactions. My guess..Albert is now overrun with outsourced scammers. Like so many other businesses. Outsourced scammers have a become a malignant parasitic drain in the western economy. They’re a bloody cancer.

I started the app to be able to connect my two banks together and when transactions were small seemed to be seamless and then felt comfortable transferring a large amount and when I mean large I mean all my funds to feed my family and just like Keyser Söze poof money gone and they say nothing they can do and it happens from time to time. Stay away! The banking commissioner should shut it down.

Wow! Just wow! So Albert sent me a text saying I have money with them from 2 years ago. So I re-download the app to sign in to see how much. Big mistake! They ONLY allow you to view your account by signing up for a $144 yearly plan, first 30 days free, cancel ANYTIME. So I regretfully signed up to find I had 10 cents with them. So I immediately went to cancel my subscription.
Because I had 10 cents with them, they told me I could not cancel. The app wouldn't allow me to move forward. So they gave me list of my linked banks to transfer the 10 cents to. It lists the amounts already in my personal bank accounts. One was for several hundred dollars more than I actually had. I tried transfer the 10 cents to my bank account with the correct amount in it, and albert wouldn't allow me. I had no choice but to initiate the transfer of 10 cents to the account they said had hundreds of dollars in it. This is their fraud. I have been waiting days to see the transfer in my bank and it's not there. I have texts from management saying they completely closed my accounts, and yet today customer service said I'm still on the hook for 144 Dollars. I alerted my bank of this highly fraudulent company. Stay far, FAR away!
