    Brandon ** is not well trained. He calls too often, treated me like a buck private in the level of conversation. For the record, I have a Masters in Accounting. I finally had to dress him down over the phone. The week of the closing he called to ask a question for which he should have known the answer weeks before. The closing attorney conducted himself more like a clerk that was winging it. New Day sent nearly $100,000 in checks FEDEX without requiring a signature. As a result, I only found them because I happened to step out onto the porch. That shows an unbelievable disregard for the money being sent to me or whether it would get to me. I would have expected more from an operation being conducted by an Admiral. At least that young Marine you use as a spokesperson is compelling.

    Hello, my representative was Daniel. On the surface Daniel is a knowledgeable person. Working with Daniel was a times difficult and challenging. I realized obtaining a mortgage can be daunting at times and he was not compassionate about any of the process. Daniel is probably a very nice person but I never felt a connection with him as far as customer service oriented. I felt I was very proactive on getting my documents to Daniel. My closing took about 3 months from start to finish. (New build.) I moved my proceeds from my sale of my former house to a money market account. This was done to accrue interest. This action was with my same bank.

    Daniel made me feel like that was not permitted. When closing date finally approached I really got the impression no one reviewed my file for weeks. Less than 48 hrs before closing I was told everything was set. Next day I was told we aren’t good due to a water test that had been submitted earlier in the month. This cause a lot of undue stress and juggling moving expenses. I received very little consideration for this happening.

    As a 32-year-old disabled Army veteran with four children and a pregnant wife, I am infuriated by NewDay USA’s predatory and dishonest tactics. Their executive chairman, touting his retired Navy Rear Admiral status, personally contacted me, claiming to support veterans through loan consolidation. This patriotic pitch was a shameless lie to exploit my trust. His assistant hounded me with invasive questions, dragging out a process to “address” $12,000 in credit card debt. After I refused, they sent an unsolicited loan packet proposing a refinance that hiked my mortgage from 6.25% to a predatory 6.99%, with $18,000 in closing costs and an outrageous $200,000 in additional interest. This was a blatant attempt to trap me in a toxic deal.

    NewDay USA’s predatory behavior is well-documented. In August 2024, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) fined them $2.25 million for deceiving over 3,000 veterans in states like North Carolina, Maine, and Minnesota with misleading cash-out refinance comparisons that concealed true costs, inflating fees and rates. In 2015, the CFPB penalized them for illegal kickbacks and falsely claiming a veterans’ organization endorsement, revealing a pattern of betrayal. Ginnie Mae restricted their loan sales due to “loan churning”—pushing veterans into unnecessary refinances for profit. A 2021 report by Rep. Katie Porter exposed NewDay’s exorbitant fees, averaging $10,335 for cash-out refinances, nearly double competitors like USAA, targeting veterans with lower credit scores.

    Veterans on platforms like Reddit have called out NewDay’s “too good to be true” offers, with some alleging they manipulate reviews to hide complaints. NewDay USA cloaks itself in patriotism while preying on veterans with ruinous loans. Their history of regulatory violations and lawsuits proves they’re a disgrace to the veteran community. Avoid this predatory lender at all costs and choose ethical alternatives to safeguard your finances.

    I was unhappy with final amount, because I was sure I made it clear I wanted $20,000 cash at closing. I only received $8294.47. I had questioned the the amount at one point when it showed around $18,000, and was assured it would be more at closing. I believe Julian must have forgotten that conversation. This miscommunication is my only complaint, everything else about the process was fine.

    My experience with New Day Financial was HORRIBLE! Long delays and excuses. Colten Parker-Cross Drawbaugh. Yesterday this happened with Colten VP of Customer Service…He wrote my account number incorrectly, called me to tell me the wire transfer wouldn’t go through then said he would call me right back once he realized he substituted a 6 for a 0. That was AFTER promising me the transfer would be in my account 5/27 by 5:30 p.m. It delayed my mortgage closing and cost me a ton of money and stress.

    24 hours later… HE STILL HASN’T CALLED ME BACK. I called the office and someone told me he knew I was waiting on a call and would call me back as soon as he was out of a meeting, That was yesterday so…. called back and was told he is out of the office. Asked for his supervisor and was advised he WAS the supervisor. After a heated conversation was finally told someone named TREVOR is his supervisor. Slow response, delays and failure to meet promised deadlines then excuses. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE LAW and payout according to promised deadline.

    In an already very difficult situation COLTEN made it SO MUCH WORSE. Wish I could give negative stars

    The worst experience in obtaining a loan we've ever had. This is NOT the fault of New Day employees. They did everything they could to get the loan approved by the lawyers. We missed two attempts to close waiting on these people to agree to the loan. Problem: No communication between people receiving the loan request and lawyers reviewing the request. No sense of urgency; VA personnel/departments do not use the same computer systems/apps. Obvious they are not there to help home buyer thru the process. The whole process is broken. However, I can only say good things about New Day employees attempting to get information, provide information, and stay on top of the VA employees. They had to be frustrated but didn't show that to us. Someone needs to fix this VA broken process. Just being on the same apps would be a great start. Contact us if you want more information.

    To get equity from home, pay off debt, and some extra to extend bedroom. There were some bumps in the road, but Brandon ** did an excellent job getting over those bumps, one was military status, the second issue was the appraisal which did not help us but after they investigated, he was able to get a reappraisal, and lastly the notary did not show up on time, he was able to get rescheduled.
