I keep very detailed paperwork and copies of my loan. They never had the amounts paid or remaining balances right. I am now having some last payment due issues. They have a very complicated scheme instead of a straightforward plan. I have to question every transaction because hidden charges keep popping up. BUT I have all my paperwork in order and I paid with credit cards. I will get back with Y'all so soon as I get this clear.

I'm supposed to pay 304.87 a month, I pay on time and even before but they still tell me I have to owe more and more on the following month. I'm 18 and working and stressing and these people really have the nerve to tell me I'm underpaying. Seek here to anyone who's is financing which is actually a freaking loan please don't!

So, I'm behind on my loan. I've been paying what I can to get caught back up. Bailey from Monterey called today to work out some sort of payment plan. First I was offered $140 a week until payments are caught up. I told her, "No, that'll leave me with $20 some dollars a week." She then offered to make my monthly payments $150 for 4 months until I'm caught up. I agreed. She put me on hold for about 15 minutes only to come back and tell me she can't offer me that agreement anymore because I've paid more this month than my original loan. She stated that I'm obviously able to pay my loan if I've paid more. What she fails to realize is $150 of the money I've put toward my loan was a Christmas gift, and I've been letting other things go just to get caught up. She then tells me I need to pay $240 a month, instead of my original loan which is $219. I said, "Ummm no, I'm struggling now as it is. Hence why I'm behind."

I told her I will continue to pay what I can, when I can. She said, "Yes you can do that but I have access to your online college courses and I can lock you out of it until you're caught up." Well go ahead and do it **. Do your research first before you offer someone an easier payment plan. You call EVERY single day, you should've known before you offered me an agreement that I paid more than my original loan this month. These people have no heart at all. Terrible, terrible loan company. Will never ever deal with them again. How do you sleep at night?!?

We financed a small loan with this company. I had a new credit card issued and forgot to change the info. Called the day after it was declined to resolve the issue. They charged me a NSF fee, late fee, and processing fee even after I explained the situation. The following month I had card restrictions set to accept autopay but not e-commerce and it declined. I called right after bank alerted me and told them what happened and asked them to process it again.

The funds have been available the whole time and it was the same day. They charged me another NSF fee and processing fee. I argued there is no NSF fee because the funds have been and are still there. They did not care and charged me anyway and said anytime a card is declined, they charge the $25 NSF fee reguardless and no exceptions. They also could not answer on how the transactions are processed. It appears they will screw you every opportunity they get even when you try to do the right thing.

I got a puppy loan from this company for $1800. I paid $200 down for a Yorkie puppy in Houston Texas. The puppy was purchased on a Saturday by the next Saturday the puppy was in the hospital and passed away. The puppy had undergone some type of gastrointestinal surgery prior to being sold to me and had complications. These people told me I should have had an autospy done on the puppy so they could prove what he died from. The Doctor said in the notes what he died from and they still did not want to release me from this contract. This was November 2017. Today is December 2019 and they have turned this over to a collection agency for $5000!! I'm filing a lawsuit because this is harassment and very unethical.

I had to finance payments for my insulin pump, I can’t afford to be on the pump to be honest but I have no choice because it keeps me alive, has to finance the payments. These people that work here have no soul. It’s really sad that they can even sleep at night knowing what they do to people like me, charging excess fees for everything and anything, tried to change my payments to withdrawal on. The first of the month instead of the 15 and they wanted to charge fees! I can only hope that one day they have a friend or family member that goes through what I have to just to stay alive all these excess fees are really a slap in the face. Not sure how these people work for a company like this. I will be filing a complaint with BBB.

I got a loan for a puppy for $1,600 but $4,000. If not paid off in 30 days. I was ok with this. My puppy passed away. They gave me 24 hrs to pay $1,072. I couldn’t come up with the money. So they gave me 3 weeks to come up with $1,135. (They added interest) I paid $205 so my balance was $930. I had 2 days to pay it off, I called today to pay the full amount which was $930.45 plus $15 to pay over the phone. Now they said it’s $1,141.45. $211 more because they forgot to tell me about the interests. Mind you I’m not late on the 3 weeks they gave me. This is total BS!!!

They are crooks to say the least. I did pay the nine hundred and something but decided to stop payment on the check by phone & consult my financial advisor & attorney. ** This. Are you kidding me. I just read all these horrendous reviews & they’ve scammed enough people!!!! Enough is Enough!! They should not be in business. They haven’t heard the last from me! And when you call it’s like calling kids. So unprofessional, makes me sick to my stomach.

My wife wanted a new dog from a local kennel here in NC. The dog cost $1300.00+ and with the cage, carrier and playpen along with toys with our final price was $1800.00. We were supposed to have a loan through Credova Financial. Two days after I get the dog I get an email from Monterey Financial stating Credova was their client and they changed my account number and added $200.00 to the original loan amount which put it at $4400.00. I understood $4K was what I would pay if I made 27 payments because of finance charges. The "loan" turned out to be a lease agreement. I also found out if I did not pay off the initial amount more than two days prior to the first payment I would owe $3400.00 even if I tried to pay it all off at once, that are be stuck with just going through with the payment arrangements for $4400.00.

We paid the $1800.00 today minus and in shop $49.99 fee straight away to avoid this nonsense. The problem is everyone does not have the money to do this or they will probably gladly pay the first month's payments not knowing what they just did to themselves. The kennel was a great place but having vultures like this circling over unsuspecting customers waiting to pick their finances apart makes them look bad by association. I don't blame them but if you see anything related to Credova or Monterey Financial stay away. I have been to combat zones and people like this are just as bad as the people that shot at us except these folks kill you with lies and paperwork. A 1-star rating is too high for these folks.

I applied for this loan through a mall in Colorado to get a puppy. The loan was for $3,400. (Yes, very expensive for a dog but we really wanted a Golden Retriever) Anyway, we paid $50 for a first month payment upfront and then $263 a month. I called 2 months later to pay off the puppy and they wanted $3,600 to finish my lease. I guess a part of the contract we didn’t see if you pay $550 for an early buyout on top of what you already owe. I told them then I should only owe around $3,300. I was told I owed $3,600 because only $104 of the $263 monthly payment went to the principal and then $159 to interest! This is absolutely insane and nowhere in the contract was that stated. This company is impossibly hard to work with and all they are looking out for is themselves and money.

I would never recommend them to anyone. I really can’t believe that we paid $300 upfront because of taxes for the puppy brought her to $3,600 and we only got approved for $3,400 plus food, etc. Then we have paid $576 in payments and now they want another $3,600! I have never hated a company so much. The biggest scam I have yet to see.

After 3 months, my lines were visible as before and when I contacted this Company, I was told that they couldn’t do anything about it and that I had to finish paying them because there was a contract. I set up monthly payments on the 15th of each month where they auto withdraw from my account. They draw before the bank opens so it is impossible to get $ in the account on that day, then they charge nsf fees, then you go to call them to make the payment and you wait for the next available representative... Well, there is none. After waiting, they tell you to leave a message or hang up... Then they auto hang up on you. But they say your call is important to them; that is infuriating! The website says it takes 2 days to post a payment, so there will now be late fees, and they tack on a fee for making a payment on their website. No customer service, they will milk you for all they can. In my experiences with other financial institutions, auto withdrawals are done the night of the scheduled payment, not the early morning of. I cannot be finished with them soon enough!

Long story short, ended up with a sick puppy Guardia. After being treated by my vet, the puppy was still sick. Took her back to the pet store and she ended up being there for over a month. Now Monterey is trying to collect over $3K, for a puppy that was brought back in January. That amount is double what she would have cost and now call me several times a day, call my place of employment and have reported to credit bureaus. WARNING STAY AWAY FROM MONTEREY FINANCIAL. Still fighting it 4 months later! Do they really think I'm going to pay almost $4K for a puppy I haven't had since January? Wish I had done my homework.

I need help: I'm sorry to say we fell into this pet leasing scam Sunday 4/7/2019 from Pet City off 45 north and FM 1960. We were looking to buy a French bulldog and we found a beautiful girl we fell in love with. Of course we didn't have the $4250 for the puppy, so the sales associate suggested financing and we agreed but at the end we never seen the contract until the deal was completed and emailed to me. We open the email today 4/8/19 and after reading it we were disgusted to find out were leasing our French bulldog with a option to buy at the end of the 30 payments. To top off things we notice today after returning from work that our puppy had an incision on the side of her belly with fresh stitches and we were never disclosed that she had any surgeries, and medical conditions that needed her to be cut.

I'm not an expert but from reading about this incision it looks like our baby girl puppy may have been spayed. We were never disclosed this information and I'm sure (My Pet Funding) & (Monterrey Financial) doesn't know anything about the puppy having stitches or incisions. Why would we buy a puppy to add to our family and pay over $9000 and she can't even have a chance to have babies later in the future. We feel like we have been deceived with the whole leasing process and especially being sold a puppy that have had a surgery already and not disclosing this. We're almost positive this cut and stitches are from being spaded. I need your help please... My name is Anthony ** my number is ** please help.

Part 2... I spoke to the leasing company and they said they don't do business like this and that the medical procedure should have been disclosed, I read thru all our paperwork and looked at the medical record we was provided and nothing says anything about a surgery, I went in person to Pet City and the saleswoman named Heather that helped us Sunday said she apologize that she didn't tell us the puppy had a hernia repair/replacement and I asked for manager and he came out and said nothing he can do for me. It's no refunds.

I explained to him I was never told of her medical procedure. He apologized also, he said, "Should be on your paperwork." He pulled his copies out and said, "Oh sorry must been a computer error." I even went to the extent of telling him the 1400 down payment I put up just refund me 1100 and keep 300 for a restocking fee. He said no. I refuse to be taken advantage of. Please Emily I really really need your help!!!! I don't want to spend more money on a lawyer, this is deception on their part, I just want a refund and want to be let out of my stupid lease agreement... My number is **.

My wife and I signed up for the Go Pro Coaching Service and the first few months were great. We found the service difficult to use after our first coaching sessions expired as we had to call in to schedule the company to call us back when they were available to set up a coaching call. We were unable to be available and thus stopped using the service. When I reached out to the coaches after making over a year's worth of payments to inquire if they had courses based on Facebook marketing to help us build our business, the answer was no. I then called Monterey Financial to cancel the agreement only to be "reminded" that there is NO cancellation. Which means I'd have to pay another 8 months for a service we don't even use. I'd estimate we found this useful for 3 months and pay thousands over 24 months. What a complete waste of money!

I purchased a puppy at Furbabies at 963 Eagle Ridge Drive, Lake Wales Florida, in Eagle Ridge Mall. I made the purchase on 1-30-2019. I signed all the hard copies, above the word “purchaser”. I specifically ask the owner if it was a finance because I had read an article about pet leasing. She told me that she doesn’t do leasing, that it was a purchase. She then gave me an iPad type device, to sign and initial in several places. She scrolled down through the microscopic words to where I needed to sign and initial. She did NOT go over any details of my contract, she offered no information at all, and again, assured me that it was NOT a lease.

I brought my puppy home, then today, 2 days after my purchase, I get an email from Monterey Financial, starting it was a lease. It states that after the initial cost (1,150.00) that I would have the option to purchase the dog for 184.67 plus official fees, and taxes. What does that mean? Official fees? I had no idea that I was getting a lease contract. I received an email, two days after signing a purchase contract, so where in between it turned into a lease. What happened to the “truth in lending.” Credco, was who I applied through, then Pet Funding, and Monterey comes on board. I am just sick over this.

The owner specifically said, it was not a lease. Also, I was told the 49.00 that was required at the time of purchase, was a deposit, why pay a deposit, when you’re actually purchasing? In my email from Monterey, it says the 49.00 is the first payment. First payment, or deposit? My daughter and granddaughter, was with me. I am not a Florida resident, I’m from WV. Thank you for listening.

Also when I used a company that went through them for $1,500 dollar loan and they shot it up to 3.500 that is so messed up. How is this even legal when the paperwork has different amounts than what you're charging. They have taken my payment late four of the six months I have paid. They tried saying my bank rejected the payments. I called my bank to see if they have even tried to process the payments on the days they said they did. The bank told me, "No transactions have been made on those dates." Their fees never stay the same and they are tacking them on to everything. I felt in the scam to LEASE a dog since it’s not my dog because I owe to this company. Third, I was never told that this company charges the 50% of interest over your dog. For example, the total amount for my dog were $3000 which I pay $500 in the pet store.

Surprisingly I found myself with an astronomical amount to pay in three years of $6000. Same amount of a regular use car in good conditions. I blamed both first the pet store bc they never explain me. Second these scammers bc it’s really hard to get in touch with them. Now be late in a payment and you will see how they will start call you immediately and get prepare bc you will be threaten to get report to the credit bureau which they do to repossess your dog since is NOT yours is property of the financial company. Like a car You don’t pay your car the bank can repossess your car. Well you don’t pay for your dog they can repossess too which is completely absurd.

This is the worst company we have ever gotten a loan from. Over the years, my husband and I have had car loans, a business loan and house loan, and this company is by far the worst. They claimed that they would work with us when my husband lost his job. They told us that they would lower the payment amount, and then tack the remaining amount on at the end of the school loan. Plus interest and late fees (which is completely understandable). Then they decided not to do this, I don't why. And their computer kept calling everyday, putting us on hold for sometimes so long they didn't even answer.

But, when he finally was able to talk to a real person, my husband worked out a lower payment amount. Both he and they agreed to this amount. And yet they still are calling. A loan officer even called the day before the payment was due, accusing me of ignoring her attempts at contacting me. (This was the only call I received since the new arrangement, and I have had no other form of contact, no emails, no letters.) If I could put NEGATIVE stars for a rating I would. Well all of a sudden, after I told the representative that I would put the payment in the mail the next month and that I was not going to call them to say I had put it in the mail, automatic draft miraculously began and I had two payment leave my account at the same time. I really want to give the product back and say good riddance to bad rubbish! Honestly I really think it is the beginning of my problems with this company if I don't hurry to pay them off. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I don't have a order number or receipt but I do have a current account.

In fact I overpay by hundreds. But what I do see is very questionable lending practices. I have not received a bill or email from your company for payment due dates or reminders. Months were allowed to pass by with NO communication from the lender until a late payment missed. This is unacceptable. I was not given a chance to pay or fulfill the loan agreement at a lesser cost. Yet I was called and spoken to like a serial missed payer. I will alert the public as best as I can through all media outlets not to use your services. Pay more than you need to.

I received a test from Monterey Financial Services about an account going to collections. So, I called them, and they took my information and realized that someone else had used my phone number to open an account they had not been paying on. Instead of a hassling me about it as so many have done, including about US Department of Education student loans I never had, they simply removed my number from the account and apologized several times. The other reviews on here are overall negative, but at least my experience was far easier than any other time this has happened.

They live in Hamburg, New York and financed 2 dogs in a pet shop in the Erie County area. They paid a huge down payment for the dogs, since both cost over five grand. The dogs were financed under Monterey Financial Services as well. I am amazed at reading all these complaints. I had no idea all of this was happening to so many people. My sister wants to spread the word, which I'm helping her out with.

She's also pursuing a lawsuit and sounds enthusiastic on getting a great settlement because of this scam. At first I thought she probably wasn't heading anywhere with it, but seeing how she's a client of a national law firm and how many people have been scammed all over the country there could be great settlements, especially since almost all the cases I've read on this site are from folk that have spent thousands of dollars. Hopefully this type of activity stops. WE HAVE TO UNITE TO MAKE THIS TYPE OF SCAM STOP.

I ordered an insulin pump from Minimed and they offered an "interest free" 12 month payoff amount. Little did I know that they hand off their accounts to Monterey Financial Services. Which I would have been fine with if not for Monterey's ridiculous fee structure. When I first got the robocall from them, I thought it was a scammer, but I google searched them and after calling them and Minimed I found out what had happened and made a payment. For my first payment, they charged a $6 "service fee" and then a $15 "other" fee. Apparently, there is a $15 fee for payments over the phone. There's no explanation of what that $6 service fee was.

Payments online have a fee of $10 each. I set up autopayment (for which there is still a $2 per payment fee) but somehow their system didn't work (I suspect the bank declined the charge which wouldn't have been Monterey's fault) so I called to make a payment and they wanted to charge their $15 phone payment fee. At this point, it was becoming clear that they were going to be charging either $10 or $15 a month just to pay them which was a ridiculous rate of interest on my "interest free" payment plan. I ended up paying one more $10 online fee to full pay the loan and get out of it. But a word of caution for all you Minimed customers out there. If they offer a discounted upfront fee vs. a higher "interest free" pay over time amount. Don't take the latter option. It's not really "interest free" when you take into account Monterey's fees.

I signed the contracts and faxed them in and was almost immediately approved for the full loan. When my water system arrived, I was in a hurry to install it and accidentally cut a hole too big in my stainless steel sink, but as time went on I started to wonder about my loan. I never received a payment book or even an invoice. They did have my phone number and could have reached me at any time. Two months go by and I call the Loan Hero telephone number that was on my contract. I got a rep (at least I think it was) that said that Loan Hero was not in the financial system except for education and all items were sent out for IMMEDIATE COLLECTION regardless of the contract and hung up. Further attempts only met with non English speaking people.

1 week later I received a folded 8x11 that said that all records were transferred to Monterey Financial and give a California Phone number. When I called to ask for more information, I was told that they would send me the payment book when the records reached them. As of yet I have No payment book, however the company has bent over almost backwards to try to assist in repaying this loan. Other than the first month payment was missed (because of Loan Hero) I have only missed one payment and I still have a confirmed financial total of payments as $3086.00 or something like that. I know only one good record will not bring up the negative of this company, but it is a positive and one that I feel is needed. Also, after careful inspection, I have discovered that the majority of the complaints are also against WAGS! A quick glance at their website does, in fact, look like a LEASE!

Please be careful before faulting the credit company because they are only doing this because of the way the contract was written. I suggest that people that have little or no experience with contracts, contact a lawyer before signing ANY contract. I have been with this company less than a year, and I have absolutely no complaints.

When I was hesitant about the $1100 they suggested I could finance the puppy, which sounded good to us. We drove 20 mins out and looked at the selections of puppies. We fell hard for an adorable toy Yorkie. After spending over an hour there they drew up our Wags Lending approval and suggested some take home items they had available.

So we're all ready to go when I see this contract they want us to sign. It was double the price they stated and had monthly payments and buy out options. I was immediately angry and told them I felt deceived and bamboozled. They explained and proceeded to show me how other clients have used Wags Lending and had no complaints, that clients have the option to just pay the purchase price of their dog within the month to avoid all those high interest costs. I was under the impression I was financing with an early buy out option, not leasing! And even after paying double the price they want an additional payment to "purchase" the dog. I am beyond upset. Oh, and it gets better: I finally put together some funds to pay the sucker off. I got a payoff amount from them over the phone, over $600, and paid it online. No dummy, I called the next day to confirm that it was paid off. A representative (I use the word loosely) said "no problem", all paid off.

Later it showed up as "unpaid" on my credit report! I called, and after back and forth, and consulting with my attorney, I decided to pay the "balance". Got a quote from another Rep, but (getting smart here), I asked for a written confirmation that the amount was the final final amount!! Next day I get an email -- AND THEY'VE UPPED THE AMOUNT AGAIN! At this point, I have no confidence that I'll ever be able to kill this loan! Consulting with my attorney again; he says take them the small claims. Considering!

I had purchased some website coaching from Achieve (name change after the fact). I was paying monthly with a credit card until Monterey failed to charge the card October 2014. The card was subsequently canceled so I was making monthly payments by check. Certainly something they did not like. After a couple of months of nastiness because I was paying by check I decided to pay the statement balance in full January 2015. Heard nothing from the company until 6 months later then I supposedly had a balance of $69 which would have been the interest that was due if I had not paid the balance early. Calls were intermittent for a few months but recently they step up the game. Not only are they RUDE they do indeed talk over you, state that I would have never received monthly statements (I did) will not acknowledge that I paid off the loan.

Trying to get anyone to listen is impossible. The $69 now seems to be more than $111 fees on top of fees and interest that is charged on fees. No written documentation is provided and refusal to work with me other than threats to my credit. The amount of money that they spend on these nasty calls are ridiculous. Thousands of dollars spent for harassment.

My wife decided to surprise me with a dog and was one of the worst decisions ever made. First buying a dog for $1500 is beyond ridiculous, but I understand there are those out there that want a purebred. The dog came home and was sick with both kennel cough and an infection from an open wound on her head. That very night I looked over the contract and was absolutely floored with the terms. First, the price of the dog was in the neighborhood of $1500, but after WAGS Lending stepped in the cost is over $3000 with a $161 installment which has been auto-debited every month thus far without my permission and without my name appearing on any of the contracts. Also come to find out after looking at the contract closer, we don't even own the dog, it's a two year lease (who does that?!).

Unfortunately, our children wound up reacting bad to the addition of the dog, with near constant allergy attacks. After trying a myriad of different medicines our only recourse was to try and terminate the lease early. After going back and forth numerous times, the only way that we can break the lease is to hand them $1100. I pleaded with them and it doesn't matter that your children's health and well being is threatened, they absolutely will under no circumstances work with you to pay the early termination fee. It's cash in hand or nothing.

I threatened to take the dog to a shelter because of the severity of the reaction my children were having and they were quick to inform me that any transfer of the pet to any 3rd party could [will] result in a fine and legal action against my wife. I was absolutely stunned. After explaining all of that to me they had the audacity to tell me that I could buy out the dog early and take it to a shelter. What they're doing can't be legal, this is absolute madness. The health of my children is threatened and they have locked any avenue for me to protect them. I have no idea what we're going to do, which is why I'm posting here.

This company is charging ridiculously high interest rates, rude, talks over the customer, hangs up on the customer, will not allow the customer to speak with a supervisor when requested. Paid my bill in full last month, date: March 22, 2016 - payment was processed on March 24, 2016 for 1,013.44, the amount of the payoff, my original purchase in the month of July 2015.

I was not told I would be entering into a rental agreement until the payments were completed, until after the contract was mailed to me, after the 3rd request (the lettering was too small). I every month asked for the payoff amount, so that I would be able to gauge the actual amount of interest that was being accrued, payment was made to close out the account. I requested a letter to verify that I had paid the account in full.

Today is April 22, 2016 - I still have not received the letter. I called yesterday @ 322 pm, was hung up on, called back... No one answered the line for 10 minutes. I hung up and called back and the CSR rudely stated that the account was not yet closed out. I questioned why. She abruptly states it will be closed out in 10 business days. I requested a supervisor. She left the phone for 10 minutes and returns stating "all of the supervisors are in a meeting," I may leave voice mail, etc. This lack of concern for the consumer of their business is ridiculous. I will never, ever do business with them again. They are liars and cheaters with no concern to conduct business in the way it should be conducted. I mentions I would contact the Better Business Bureau. They laughed and said "they will not do anything." Please, investigate this company.

I know it's a business but to outright rip us (the public) off with "over the hill", "high interest rates" just isn't right. I wouldn't be surprised if the government is part of this conspiracy. Maybe that's why Monterey hasn't been shut down...

Unfortunately many people including myself don't read all the fine print. It doesn't matter to them if you're only income is that one check you receive a month. They have no heart and won't seem to work with you... It's all about the money, money, money... cha ching!!! And by the way... to all the people who contact the "Better Business Bureau"... a joke. I just found out myself that the companies actually pay the BBB to give them the A ratings whether they deserve an A or an F... So if you ask me, all in "CAHOOTS" together. I read the majority of these reviews before applying and still did so as it was the only option to try and purchase a puppy that I had fallen in love with and did not have enough cash to outright purchase her. I applied via my cell phone and was approved within minutes for $1,400.00. I carefully read all of the information prior to signing and was not pleased with the outrageous finance terms, but the monthly payment was average ($165.00) including interest; this was in December 2015. The following month I contacted company and was speaking to a live agent. Within minutes, she provided me with the payoff information I was looking for and all was well.

Now for the reason I only gave the company 4 stars instead of 5. At the end of last month (February), I called again for a payoff amount (wishing to make the payment immediately) and was hung up on twice without speaking to anyone. On the third call I was placed on hold for almost 15 minutes and when finally the female came back on the line, she gave me the payoff amount, took my credit card information and informed me it would take about 3-5 business days for accounting to process the payment and update my account.

3 days later, the payment processed through my bank and I assumed all was well; at least until I checked my account online and noticed they posted the payoff payment AND a $157.00 payment due 11/20/2016. Upset, I called again. I was placed on hold for about 10 minutes and a young man answered the phone and told me he would immediately correct the problem and asked that I check my account again in 48 hours. Obviously I did as he asked and the 'odd' payment did in fact 'disappear.' I have since then emailed requesting a written receipt stating my account had been paid in full.

I received an email response back within 24 hours confirming that my account was, in fact, paid in full and they normally did not send out letters like the one I was requesting, but that they would do so. This was 2 weeks ago and I have not received that letter at this point, but I have saved, printed, and have taken a screen shot of the email as well as my account online that states my balance is ZERO, just in case.

I will say that it is VITAL those applying for financing with this company that you read the FINE PRINT, as it does very specifically state at the end of the financing terms, the purchaser will be required to pay an additional $225.00, as the 'property' (pet) is only being leased until the entire balance, interest, and final buyout amount (the $225.00) is paid in full.

I patiently waited to speak with a rep but after several minutes was asked by recording to leave a message for a return call. This happened twice. I threw out my payment book with the account number but found it through my bank bill pay. With some difficulty I managed to log on to my account and see the balance is $24. It is unexplainable why there is a balance. There are no late fees - just says balance $24.

Either the rep misquoted the amount or they added some fee - I don't know which. I'm going to pay the $24 and the online payment fee of $10 to be done. Hope it puts the issue to bed. I'm leery though because of all of the horrible reviews I've now read about this company.

The auto repair shop said that I could get a loan with Monterey Financial Services. I had the option of paying the loan off earlier. It was my fault that I did not do so but not theirs. I had no problems with service. I knew when the payment would be coming out of my bank account so I have check on that. The only time I called was when I knew I was getting close to the deadline of paying off the loan.

I called ** in their Loan Servicing Department. He informed me that the loan was now paid off. I would be receiving a letter from the company as a good reference for any bank loan possibly in the future. It was in my communication with ** who suggested that I do a print out from the company website for this purpose. I want to thank you, ** for Very Good Customer Service. Today I decided to check the account to make sure it reads zero. Not only is it still showing the balance for the full 6 years, they took out a $200 payment yesterday. I am beyond angry. I will be calling them tomorrow. This company is so irresponsible and needs to be shut down or meet higher standards.

I am writing you to express my shock and dismay at the way your customer representatives have treated me over the last 9 months. I financed a loan in April 2014, and I make my payments every month, but every month there is some sort of error in processing and I am forced through the hell that is speaking to one of your reps.

This morning I was talking to someone about a credit card payment that I made two days ago that has not posted to my account, but before I could do that, the rep interrupted and began robotically asking me to recite my account number, my home address, my work address, my work phone number, my date of birth, and my home phone number. When I told her that my work phone number was no longer a good, she started bating me for information about my employer.

Finally, I said, "listen, you've verified that it is me, can we get to why I am calling? I made a payment two days ago and ---" She interrupted and said "It was declined." I began to explain that this happens every month, but before I could finish she interrupted again and said "then maybe you should pay it off and then you won't have to deal with it anymore."

I had to look at my phone to make sure I called the right number because for a moment, I thought I might have called a prison where the inmates were answering the phones and running amok.I have never been treated in such a way from any person much less a supposed professional organization. Your rep proceeded to get in to a yelling match with me and I eventually hung up. I don't need this type of stress in my life. I feel held hostage by your company, and quite frankly, am tempted to default.

Your website/system often reject payments I make, though the money is there. I've spoken to my bank and when your system claims to receive a rejection, my bank does not even see an attempt. Yet your company not only charges an initial $10 for the credit card payment to begin with, it then begins to tack on $20 and $40 NSF fees with each attempt. I've asked your reps to explain to me what cost Monterey Financial incurs by "attempting" payments that do not go through, and no one has been able to answer that question. No one is ever willing to reverse or credit these fees, no one is ever apologetic, and no one ever has a solution. In addition to feeling mistreated, I feel robbed.

I hope that as the President and CEO of this company the quality of service that your reps are providing to the public is a top priority to you. There are 79 complaints about your company on the BBB website, but somehow the rating is an A+. On other sites, like Yelp! and Consumeraffairs.com there are long lists of personal accounts of your other customers and their horrendous experiences with Monterey Financial Services.

If it is in your power to discuss these issues with your employees and urge your customer service reps to treat your customers, the people who make it possible for your company to even exist, with care and respect, then I encourage you to do so. I also urge you to reconsider the NSF and late payment charges that have tacked on to my account. Your interest rates are already quite high, which I was fully aware of going in to, but your website and payment system are out of date and it is people like me who are paying the price.

I ordered Joe Vitale's Miracles coaching program from Achieve (formerly Prosper INC). According to Achieve the program was financed by Monterey Financial Services. The program was supposed to be a year long program for around $2500. The program description was:

    1) 4 One on One sessions with a coach, which were delivered.

    2) Follow up weekly phone call to the support line and speak with a counselor in order to keep the information fresh. The Step 2 was strongly stressed upon by the person who signed me up (Nate **) followed by Gil who was my coach. After the first four sessions I tried leaving multiple messages in the month after the one on one sessions were over and I did not receive any phone call until one month after. Hence depriving me of the follow up weekly dosage that was part of the program. This pattern follows. Whenever I call there is no one ever available and I have to leave a message just to get a phone call back at a random time even though I mention in my voice mails that I am at work 9-5 EST so please call me after 6pm EST but all in vain. The online chat which should be always on is never on. Every time I have tried to chat online through their system, I get a message "No one is available right now".

    3) Initially when I signed up they said there will be a graduate call with Joe Vitale. I have been part of the program since April and I have only received an email for 1 graduate call.

    4) Access to the website without any guidance as to what needs to be done. Remember if I am paying $2500 then it better be worthwhile as I have not opened a charity for Achieve.

I paid them a down payment of $500 hundred and two payments of $183 after that, based on the above information where I only get 4 one on one sessions and website, and everything else was not delivered as told to me by Nate ** who signed me up. I do not believe that I owe them anything more. It is fine for the money that I paid but based on what was promised and what was delivered I do not think that the value of product is $2500. It is highly inflated. All this information that they are providing on their website is already on YouTube and is available for free. So for them to sell it for $2500 is a ripoff. I stopped making payments.

On top of that Monterey Inc, which I think is affiliated with Achieve, started sending me harassing messages. I spoke to Monterey Financials manager "Sergio" end of June. I explained him the situation and he said if I make the payment for the month of June then he will try to resolve the issue as he will call Achieve up and find out as to why they are not following up as promised. Sergio called on July 7th, 2014 and informed me that he left messages for Achieve but there was a no show from Achieve's part.

I tried following up with Sergio by leaving him 3 voice mails but did not hear back from him and instead heard from another agent who left me a VM for not the inquiry which was escalated earlier but to get more money out of me. I ask Better Business Bureau to investigate and bring them to justice. Why should I pay any more money for no return calls and lack of professionalism and broken contract? I don't even believe that Achieve has proper organization. I think there is only 1 person who is not even sitting there in the office. Please HELP!

I don't understand this whole situation with this company. I will have to say they like to argue with you on anything you say. I actually got a loan for my furniture. This wasn't the company I signed my contract with. My contract does not have this company's name on it and they were taking from my acct. My loan was for about $500, I paid for $80 at the furniture company, which brought my balance down to $424. I wasn't aware of the $15 charge over the phone nor did I know about the $10 online fee to pay your bill. I paid $100 for the first payment. When I made my payment, it was with a different company. And when I called to make another payment, they told me I had to call this company. So I called this company and because I was late, the 90-day pay off was no longer an option. I would need to pay them the $1200.

I was down to $324 to pay it off in 90 days and looked forward to pay this off and they told me, “No, it's $824." But if I would like to call back tomorrow I would only have to pay the $564, like I have that laying around. That's why I had the loan in the first place. I asked the rep to send me the contract and she told me I would have to go back to the store and they would provide the contract that I signed. But on my contract, I have a complete different name I'm paying to. I would like a contract that I signed with your company, and she said go back to the store. As for the contract, I told her I was not going to pay that company. She told me it would go to collections by the end of this month. But as I read here, they are the collections.... I don’t get it and it does not sit well in my stomach.

I recently got a call from a collection agency claiming to be collecting for them on a bogus student account I never took out. I never heard of Monterey Financial prior to this. The school in question (Business Computer Training Institute) went under 15 years ago and was a total scam to begin with -- its owners being convicted of all manner of criminal misconduct.

I spoke to one collection supervisor, who became very nervous when I began asking questions in terms mostly known only to collectors and/or lawyers. (Many consumer protection websites can provide info on this that any consumer can use to scare these cowards.) I made it clear that I would not pay a dime and demanded all the info she had on this account and that I would be reporting it to the authorities. After a week with no info, I contacted her again and was told that Monterey had taken their account back. Of course, I have had no word from them.

Don't believe a word from these basement bill-boys, people. Most of the legally uncollectable accounts they deal in are long expired and/or just fraudulent from the start, and the feds just announced a long-overdue crack-down on this type of collection crooks. This is by far a corrupt financial service in that they finance bogus companies that intend to go bankrupt, however you must pay back your balance or Monterey will threaten to ruin your credit. My husband and I signed a contract with United Vacation Reservations, LLC for 10 vacation packages that we could take at any time. The total sale price was $3,916.77. The deal was to contact UVR reserve a week vacation for less than $300.00. We also had access to a hot sheet where we could book a week vacation (not using one of our packages) for as little as $500. These vacation locations were all over the world at prime resorts. Red flags went up when I contacted UVR and the one contact person tried to charge over $800 for my vacation package.

I called Monterey and they "handled" it. The next time I tried to contact UVR they could not be reached. I threatened to stop paying on our balance since it was obvious that UVR was out of business and why would I want to pay for services I could not get. The representative knew all about my contract with UVR because she read it to me and emailed a copy. Monterey miraculously came up with another bogus company that went out of business a year later. That's when I predicted that when we paid off our loan to Monterey, we would be cut off for good. That's what happened this June. I tried to contact the 3rd company that Monterey had given us and once again they no longer existed.

However, this time we had our loan paid off and Monterey had nothing to offer. In fact, when I first called them, the representative rattled off the UVR name, which was three companies ago. Monterey had no knowledge of how many packages we had used although it really did not matter to them. They got their money and our account is now closed. The representative just said that it's our fault because we didn't take all our packages before now. We only used 3 of our vacation packages. Is there someone out there that could shut down this corrupt financial company before more hard working people lose their hard earned money to this racket?

So we contacted the number on the form for Monterey, which they stated they had no idea who my husband was or any account for him. At that point I could have walked away with a $3,000 ring for free. Being a good person, I went around and around with them telling them I had the ring and needed to pay. After a few days, they finally got everything worked out.

My husband then was able to begin making the monthly payment (2 months after we got the ring). He has been making payments for 14 months now and I called to get the payoff amount so I could just complete the purchase. Before I could say even one word, the representative stated I have an overdue balance and if it wasn't paid by Friday (2 days away), that my credit would be affected because it was going to a collection agency. When would I like to set up payments? Well first, I wanted details about this. I was unaware of any overdue balance so when I asked about it, the representative was rude and very unhelpful. Apparently, this overdue balance was from a year ago (apparently the payment did not go through), so I asked if they informed my husband or mailed him anything. She said no. So I am confused. How was he supposed to know he was being sent to collections, which would affect his credit, if they never contacted him to let him know there was an overdue balance so he could take care of it?

When I asked for the payoff balance, she gave me one number. But when I got online and looked at my account, there was a completely different number. I called the company back, which no one answered, so I left a message to call me back that day as I wanted to pay in full and not accumulate any more interest. They did not call me back until the next day, when she tells me the amount was different because she was adding charges for me paying over the phone (however, she did not mention this to me when I asked what the payoff was. She just added the fee). This company is so hard to work with and their numbers never match up.

I received a call today from a very angry customer service representative because my account was apparently past due. I had no clue that it was past due because my husband handles all of our finances. The lady was so rude. She informed me that I "obviously never pay my bills" and at one point called me a "liar". I demanded to speak to a supervisor and was transferred to the team lead. That got me nowhere because she was just as rude, if not worse. I wanted to make my account "good" but decided not to make a payment until I spoke to a supervisor. I left a voicemail for the supervisor, but I highly doubt I will hear back. I believe the customer service reps are taught to treat people terrible. That is a great way to get the money owed to you people!

Monterey Financial handles payment arrangements on my account of medical supplies from Medtronic Corp. Representatives change almost weekly; my account is always new to the case manager when I call. The representatives refuse to work with their client when there are problems such as misapplied payments. A simple phone call on your behalf and/or a three-way call would have resolved an issue in 15 minutes. Instead they stand hard, demand additional payments and threaten default.

I contacted Medtronic and solved my own problem in 5 minutes. When I spoke to the account rep to advise the matter had been straightened out, she lectured me about timely payments and insisted that I mail the correct address next time. A simple, "That's good news," or an "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" could have gone a long way.

A while back, I don't remember the exact date, I was contacted by a young man about making income from home. Since I live solely on my SS, I was interested. This interview consisted solely on how much credit I had on my credit cards. When I replied vaguely, the individual wanted to know exactly. When I informed him about my available credit he transferred me to the "real" interview. My original signup was for $2,800. This was followed by financial advisors, accountants, website producers as well as a firm to establish an LLC. The cost of the LLC was to be $1,850, $350 upfront and the balance financed by, guess who, Premier Mentoring, using Monterey Financial Services. I used my 3-day cancellation rejection period to cancel everything; however my "real" interviewer convinced me to continue.

I'm not making excuses; however, I will be 88 years old this month. I am living on SS only. My house is in a reverse mortgage, and to date $5,800 to Premier Mentoring. It gets better. I have spoken to quite a few of your people. With some I agreed to send you 4 postdated checks for $150 each. This month, I also mailed you coupon # 1 with a check for $125. Today, I received a collection call from one of your minions telling me I was going into collection. This was the third time this has happened. Twice you staff hung up on me. Actually, I am through. You do whatever you see fit to do. In the terms of "your" trade I am bulletproof. I am sorry it has to end this way, but my generation behaved differently than yours.

I was recruited by Prospering.com when I purchased some DVD from a company called Six Figure Program. I was scammed on a work from home business by Prospering.com. I paid upfront $600 in May 2012 and received paperwork from Monterey Financial stating I would be making payments to them now. When I looked into Prospering.com, I found out I was not the only consumer scammed on their so-called home business. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and stopped automatic payments going to Monterey Financial. Then the rude harassing daily phone calls started with MFS. I spoke to a customer service agent to explain that I have reported Prospering to BBB and no more money would be sent. In addition to the call, I sent a detailed email.

The harassing calls continued from MSF. I stopped answering the calls and voice messages continue to be left on my cell and home. Prospering wrote back to the BBB stating I would not get my $600 back but my account with MFS would be closed out for the remaining balance. As of today's date, I am still receiving phones calls from MFS. I wrote to the investigator at the BBB stating that Prospering has not closed my account out so the harassing phone calls continue. I am not going to CNN and any media that will listen since MFS seems to think it’s okay to be rude and harass hard working consumers.

I had a payment of $128.18 due on June 1, 2012. I didn’t think I would have money in the bank to cover payment. I called Monterey at 760-639-3500. They told me to set up a late payment of $165.18 for June 8, 2012. And if payment cleared on June 1, 2012, the payment for June 8, 2012 would fall off. Now, my balance is $128.18 and should be $91.18.

In 2009, we took out this loan simply trying to make more money in this terrible economy. My husband was not working and has not consistently worked for the past 3 years. However, we made the debt and I am not disputing that. During this period from 10/15/09 till now, I made the payments the best I could on a single income and got behind twice, one time they helps us out. The Kansas City address could have been given to us at that time, so we paid it anyway; however, they gave us no options but to mail these payments, as their internet service charged more for making the payments on line, more money out of our pocket. So over the past two years, I made them.

They would call if I was one day passed due. I would be put on hold, more than I can count, several times for 20 minutes are more. I finally chose not to deal with lousy customer service. I tried to coincide my paycheck period and mailing time but was unsuccessful more than I care to count. Then tonight, Andy called, I answered and to my surprise a real person came on the line. After much heated discussion, I was told that there was a Kansas City office or post office box I could mail my payment to - a Kansas City office, we live in Kansas City.

If they had made this offer to me from the get go, my late fees would have been minimal as I would not have had a 5 to 10 day mailing delivery. Then when I requested a letter stating that this debt was paid in full, I would have to "call" the office to request it, again dealing with the terrible customer service. I feel that they have taken advantage of us by having the terrible customer service, not sending a letter stating we could make the payments to the Kansas City office. I don't know what can be done. If anything but something needs to be. They took advantage of a single income family in more ways than I can count.

This company is trying to collect money by using another fraudulent company, CAA (College Admission Assistance). CAA collected personal information, didn't provide any services of what they promised to (all of their job was done actually by school counselor for free and they didn't even try to help for the money they were getting), they were taking $275 per month for 8 months from my debit card (they counted it with "percents" for a sum of $2000) until I wrote them a letter that I, dissatisfied with their services (or absence of services actually), are not allowed to take money from my account anymore and I changed my debit card number.

First, this started when my crescent jewelers account was transferred to this company Monterey Financial services, due to crescent going bankrupt. So when I started paying Moneterey they sent me a coupon book to send each one with my payments until it was done, I would have been done paying off the account in 8/09 if I keep sending $170.00/mnth which is what I was doing. then I came across some money so I decided to pay off my debt early, I sent $650.00 in Feburary, and the balance then by my records was about $1,100.00, then I sent $340 in March, and then $200.00 in April. Just to mention in my coupon book the number to reach someone is just a recording , then it puts you on hold for 15mins, then the recording comes back and says leave a message which never gets returned. Okay so after realizing no one would call me back I looked online and found a 800 toll free number. this is in early May, I spoke with one young lady who told me depite me having my records showing I paid off my debt she said I still ower $184.90, when I asked why she said they charge 24% intrest every 14th of the month as long as you have a balance, this made me mad but I told her I would pay that remainder the following week. the following week 5/15/09 I called back to pay off the $184.90 and jennifer tells me now it is $205.50, this made me fuming mad, when I asked why and explained what the young lady from the previous week said Jennifer says, no that is not right it is 24% interest everyday that you have a balance. I went ahead and paid the $205.50, but i need answers. 1st I did not enter a contract with Monterey for intrest of 24% a day or every 14th of the month. I entered a contract with crescent and this was not in it, i had done business with crescent before in the past and that is why I used them again, I had no idea they were about to go bankrupt. I feel that I was taken advantage of by Monterey Financial Services and that they lied about how much I owed, i followed the coupon book their company sent and still they have an excuse for crazy interest rates I knew nothing about prior to being transferred to this company.

Monterey Financial Services (MFS) claims to be an assignee of Global Escapes. MFS has made repeated, harassing phone calls regarding this alleged debt, despite being asked to cease and desist. In fact, in one conversation I was advised to get a job at McDonald's to pay this debt.

My husband and I contacted Global Escapes to advise them that we did not wish to use their services and wanted to cancel the contract, at which time they forwarded the account to MFS. We have never used Global Escapes. I sent a letter to Global Escapes and MFS wherein I advised them that I do not believe the contract is valid as it contains blank spaces. Specifically, the space that contains the name of any assignee. I believe that making such an assignment by Global Escapes is a material change to the Retail Installment Contract, to which I was not notified prior to the change.

Bottom line, MFS has been harassing me by calling repeatedly and yelling at me as though I were a child. They will not back down and I need help in resolving this matter.

They have impacted my credit and are causing emotional distress.
