I have been banking with Discover for over 4 years, they decided to close my account on a Saturday evening without telling me. Then they went ahead and froze my money. For a “business decision”. I then call to find out where my money is at and they can’t even tell me that. This bank is conducting some sort of scheme and needs to be reviewed by the FTC.

I was a 10+ year customer who had impeccable credit. I processed automatic and online payments on time or ahead of time during that time. Thinking my account was on auto pay as I set up, a payment was not processed for 2 months. I should have checked. Discover refused to remove my 60-day late charge even after I wrote a letter. The call center employees are pleasant but have not authority to assist with problems. Do better Discover.

My online account was disabled a week ago, and I was given no notice. I called Discover, was put on hold for a long while, I requested the rep to have a supervisor call me back. I never got called back. I called again, was transferred to another department and was disconnected. I sent an email to the CEO Michael Shepard, and got no reply. I will be filing a complaint with Banking Authorities soon.

Hands down the worst bank I have ever dealt with. I've been with them for 4 weeks and have had fraud on my account every single week. When addressing needing a new debit card, they refused to send me a new one even though the one they sent 3 days ago was compromised from having my identity stolen. They tried to tell me to link my bank account with an unsecure third party for two weeks while I awaited my new debit card's arrival which is not doable by any means.

I have been pushed around and been serviced with nothing but bad attitudes and poor solutions to try to rectify my issues. The supervisors are useless and refuse to make exceptions within their policies to help customers who were targeted by scammers. I was hung up on multiple times today as well as hounded for my complete social security number by the same employee multiple times despite saying I was not comfortable giving my full social security number because I knew it was not required to complete the actions needed to look into my account. He only needed the last 4 to complete the actions necessary to pull up my account in their system. It took me 9 hours to try rectify my issues and even after all of that time, nothing was done to help me as a customer. I would never recommend such a terrible place to anyone. Their policies are horrible as well as EVERY one of their employees.

I've been a customer of Discover Bank for several years, and have always been very happy with them. UNTIL NOW, since they've been purchased by Capital One. A new policy has been stated that when we deposit checks (via the mobile app? The only way I to deposit since there are no branches) that Discover will make $250 of my deposit available immediately, and I've got to wait for the rest of my money. This is a problem when you deposit multiple checks, since they don't disclose how much is being held back. In addition, I recently deposited a check smaller than the $250, and the entire amount of that check is listed online as "available within the next 30 days". THE ENTIRE AMOUNT SHOULD BE IN MY ACCOUNT RIGHT NOW.

I don't feel Discover is as honest as they were in the past, since this merger. They certainly are not transparent when reporting on my money. It also seems they jumped the gun on withholding customer funds, doing it before they've done the appropriate updates to their website to provide customers with needed information. Apparently it's more important now to keep funds in Discover than it is to provide good service. Overnight investing by Capital One is more important than customers. Since I usually need to deposit multiple small checks, they must feel it's fine for me to have to do a spreadsheet in order to know how much money they're holding back, so I can make sure it's deposited. Discover Bank seems to no longer value its customers as it has in the past, so I'll be moving my money elsewhere.

I submitted an application online for a personal loan to cancel debts from my credit cards. Had to call a phone number to finalize the application. A lady requested personal information and the numbers of the credit cards they were going to pay off. They even asked for my bank account number to deposit the remaining balance of the money they were lending since I did not have the info one of the credit cards. After recollecting all this personal info, she told me they could not approve the loan. This is outrageous, how can she tell me that after spending 40 minutes on the phone and make me believe they were processing the payment of my credit cards. THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. I can not think otherwise that they can use my personal financial information for other purposes.

I was offered a 9 month CD at 5.1% interest and signed up immediately. After receiving the acceptance letter, I funded the account by sending my $75,000 inheritance check via a letter that reiterated the terms (interest rate included). Discover took my check and sent me a letter detailing a lower interest rate. When I called to complain, I spoke with an inept rep and asked for a manager. The manager told me Discover was not bound by the offered terms or my letter outlining them. Said the “Discover on-line agreement” stated this. So I guess I was supposed to locate an on-line agreement and read it carefully rather than take the terms offered as true. Now I am locked in. Classic bait and switch fraud. BEWARE!!!

I disputed with discover with all the proof I have and they kept making excuses and Kept asking me to provide proof vendor agreed to refund if I’m not satisfied with the product (in which I did have it in my text), but they kept jerking me around for more detailed proof such as they want to see vendor agree to refund amount to this particular credit card, you can tell discover no longer side with their customer, as a result, I withdraw all my money out from discover and will no longer bank with them, just so you know if you have fidelity account, they offer much higher interest rate than discover (4.9%, where as discover is only 4.15%). Bye discover, you won’t miss me and I won’t be missing you either.

The staff is not only rude but also highly incompetent, showing a complete lack of understanding of their own processes. Every interaction with them feels frustrating and unprofessional. They seem to have no regard for customer service, making it clear that they do not prioritize the needs or concerns of their clients. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid banking with them.

When the card finally arrived, I received 1 more email about adding money (2 days after it came) and then 5 days later, another email about they were cancelling the card because I haven't added money yet. A lot of red flags for me and after reading these reviews, I'm glad I didn't.

Discover reported my late payment of less than $10 due to an auto pay error to the credit agencies and won't remove it, damaging my credit score. There are other banking institutions that are more flexible on this. Discover says they won't remove a credit reporting unless it's an error from Discover (a LIE). I updated my banking information for Discover's auto pay. But I don't use Discover credit card that often, so was about two billing cycles in before I had a balance on my account.

There was a payment reversal and Discover sent an email about this to my old email address because it takes 24-48 hours for their system to send notices and I had updated my old email address during that time. However, after I updated my email address, I received an immediate confirmation that all future emails from Discover will be sent to my new email -- this was a LIE. Discover disagrees that is their error. I updated to the same banking information for auto pay for my other accounts associated with other banks and none of them resulted in a payment reversal.

Might want to think about banking somewhere else. Apparently Discover does not support fraudulent charges and will not help consumers with such issues. They are not even smart enough to suggest that if a charge is suspected to be fraudulent that maybe they should at least issue a new debit card. It's funny because Chase has no problem supporting their customers.

Customer service is an absolute joke and the managers are even worse! I have no access to my money from either Discover account and was cussed at by a "manager" for asking if anything could be expedited. I was told no, that FedEx will not ship cards; all they can do is cancel the FOUR cards (2 credit 2 checking) and send them again. It would be here in 7-10 business days. The customer service is filled with barking dogs, kids screaming, and the most rude, petty, and unempathetic people I have ever had to work with. Cancelled and closed it all. Good Riddance!!

Tory, a supervisor did not even share her last name telling me for security reasons she couldn't do that. The customer service is petty and I would not recommend anyone dealing with this bank. My credit score has been affected dramatically as my auto pay bank was changed, I tried to update my auto pay, it wouldn't go through, I made online payment, it wouldn't let me, I called on May 6th, the agent said she couldn't take payment over the phone either, because Discover wanted me to wait to be past due and have another charge waiting for my bank to refuse the auto pay, her own words. This is ridiculous. What a shame.

A few years ago Discover Bank made a decision to suspend customers' ability to use Zelle. They then claimed to have reinstated Zelle but I have not been able to use Zelle through Discover while having access through all other financial institutions I use. Discover has been the bank I use for my direct deposit. I lost my debit card and attempted to transfer funds via Zelle to another account so I could have access to cash and to purchase vital items, like food. Lo and Behold, no Zelle is available. Not only that their customer service reps don't seem to know or acknowledge that it was Discover NOT Zelle that created this issue. The rep kept saying that Zelle has "secret" criteria, even when I stated I use Zelle with other banks. I then say, hey I need to move $$ because you don't have physical branches, and he suggests I do an ACH transfer which takes 2 to 4 days, in 2024 I am supposed to wait 2 to 4 days for $$.

The direct deposit does not clear in account at a certain time, and now Discover is clearing withdrawals prior to deposits. There is nothing easy about this account. Even with the higher APY, Discover is simply a hassle to have. I don't know when I will have access to my $$ or have the ability to purchase food. Definitely was not a wise choice on my behalf to have my check be deposited with them. They are a good backup account but not a main one.

Which one? everything was paid off a month ago and the credit card was shredded. To my great sadness, they don't remove my name from their database and they don't remove my account online. Do not put your money there! The saving account that I opened few months ago back in late 2023 was hacked and they can't do anything about it. When I first opened the saving account, I put a lump sum amount due to their interest rates are great. I had to wire transfer money from my other bank account over to theirs using Discover system. I have had a good quite amount of interest built toward my account. Earlier this year, I noticed that there was a wire transfer made consecutively over to the bank where I originally transferred the money from without my authorization!!! When I called Discover customer service, I was told that the transfers were made to my other bank account but under a different name!!! My 5k was vanished just like that by someone within the Discover bank hacked my account and they couldn't do anything about it! Just like that!

After two week of back and forth with the customer service and the dispute and fraud departments, I didn't get my money back even though they acknowledge that my money went under a different name!! How stupid is that! They know my money was transferred to someone else under different name using the same bank where I originally transferred the money from to open up a saving account with Discover. Bottom line, I am here to warn you to take your money out of this bank and I will fight them till I get my money back!!!

Over the course of a year, I have used Discover Bank for four CDs. During this time, two have come up for renewal. Their online renewal procedure is confusing; and ultimately, I was forced to use secure messaging to handle the situation. I received two responses that were contradictory. Given I was doing the exact same thing for both CDs, the action should have been the same. I was forced to call. I had to speak with three different people until I thought the situation was handled. When the actual renewal date arrived, nothing was happening, so I called again. I was told it would be expedited. I thought everything was fine, until I realized several weeks later that a duplicate action had taken place. I was forced to call again.

The representative said I was correct that an error had been made, but it was all my money, so deposit it. I felt I couldn't trust Discover at this point. She said she spoke with the supervisory team, and they wanted to talk with me. They were backed up, though, so they would call me. That team/person never called me. I sent a secure message, stating I wanted a supervisor to call me, as promised. The secure message response was, the representative didn't enter the request properly, so no one was going to call me. Unfortunately, I had a horrific situation with Discover Bank when I tried to open a savings account with them, also. That should have been the writing on the wall. So now that I have bad experience, after bad experience and I might add, no apology or acknowledgement of their mishandling the situation, I am done. I absolutely do NOT recommend anyone place their money in the hands of this company. Discover Bank can't be trusted to do business correctly and honestly.

Discover chooses to use their own definition of fraud and not the official one you will find in a dictionary. Beware...They will not cover you as they term it a billing dispute and not fraud. Commercials and all are basically selling you a lie. Marketing scam. In fact they told me that a scam is not considered fraud within Discover...Hmm. Then what is that classified as and what sort of recourse do consumers have if this is not considered fraud. In essence Discover is participating in fraud themselves by telling their consumers and potential consumers that they will be covered when in fact they won't. Interesting that that is exactly the definition of fraud. Way to go Discover, nice job. Will be closing my account and going somewhere that do not scam their cardholders. Too bad. Folks beware.

Fraud definition= : deceit, trickery. Specifically: intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right. B: An act of deceiving or misrepresenting: trick. A person who is not what he or she pretends to be: impostor. B: One that is not what it seems or is represented to be. Discover will hold you accountable for what they say they will not. This includes scammers.

Balance transfers might have 0% interest for a period of time, however the minimum payment will be 3% or more of that balance transfer. Yes, a lot of fine print - but they will not tell you this outright. Your minimum payment becomes huge. I had to get another credit card and transfer my balance, transfer so I have 0 balance. I will never use my Discover card for any large purchase or balance transfer again.
