This is the bank that holds my check for 2 weeks in Christmas and New Year time with no reason. Because they need money for themselves and they have right to keep your money. That is one of the ridiculous bank. I will close my accounts right after my funds available... Interesting part is, the check that I deposit from my different business account to other one and Bank Of America said they dont get money since check withdraw from my other account. You guys are ridiculous... I have been your customer for 7 years and how you guys treat your clients...

I’ve had a credit rating of 825 for the past 10 years and never a single late payment in all that time. Last year I decided to apply for Alaska Airlines BOA credit card for the perks of airfare and mileage. I downloaded the app but was unable to view my transaction detail online nor did I receive billing statements. BOA wanted me to link my Wells Fargo account to the credit card and I declined for security reasons. I was unable to set up an immediate transfer as I pay my credit cards in full every month.
In September I made my payment for $31. October I did not receive a bill by email nor did BOA indicate a payment was due. In November I receive an email notice BOA filed a 30 day late claim on my credit. No other communication until after the fact. I went in to pay them and discovered a balance of $167.20 due by Jan 4 2019. This included a $50 late fee, a reduction of my spending limit from $18,000 to $500 a ding on my excellent credit and they had declined the $30 monthly charge to Direct TV.
A week since I paid the balance and I still show owing this balance. I called them to cancel my account to be told if I did I would NEVER be able to obtain a card from them again. There was no explanation for why I was not notified a payment was due before filing a 30 day late on a $60 charge that inflated to $167. This bank and its employees do not know what customer service is. They haven’t processed my payment in over a week despite my bank showing the payment was transferred. I wouldn’t do business with BOA If I was paid to. I have never been treated so rudely. I am filing a complaint with Alaska Air (known for their excellent customer service).

Is there an option for zero stars? I've had the customer service experience from hell. My existing claim for a disputed CC charge for $3000 was reversed not in my favor. The reason being was I did not respond by the deadline to keep the dispute open. I received a notification letter to respond to the dispute to keep the case open by a date (Dec 13). The notification letter arrived Dec 18th. 5 days after the deadline to respond had passed. There was no option to respond in time. There was no email, no phone call, no message in my online banking with BofA, not even an app alert in my BofA App. Just one late letter that arrived the same day as the letter saying my dispute was wrongfully settled. The $3000 charge that was reapplied to my statement has left me unable to purchase anything before Christmas.
I have begun the endless contact attempt to speak to someone that could look into it. Over 2 days I've spent 3-4 hours on hold, being transferred and disconnected as well as waiting for an automated call back that was estimated at 7 minutes but never came. I called that time after waiting around for 40 minutes with no callback. I am still on hold - 5 wrong department transfers later with continued estimates of 36 mins + per transfer. The last representative said he would wait with me on hold until they got me to the correct department. I am still on hold. He hung up 15 minutes ago and is no longer on the line as promised. He must have not have been able to wait on hold seeing how miserable his own customer service system is. The same looping hold music song for hours. The song is literally seared into my ears and tattooed on my brain and there is no end in sight. Merry Christmas B of A!!!

If the lower than 1 star was available, that is what they would gotten. I never write reviews but this experience was so bad I wanted to share it with others. Bank of America has been my sole bank since 1999. There have been issues in the past but the one this week is the one sending me to do my banking elsewhere. Saturday December 15th I deposited a check on the mobile app. BIG MISTAKE. It showed accepted on Saturday but on Monday I showed I had a low checking balance which would have been impossible with the deposit. I went online and discovered they were holding the check for almost 2 weeks, December 27th. I called on Monday and was told it was a suspicious check and could not checked until the image from the deposit was available and I was asked to call back Tuesday.
On Tuesday I was told the check was different from the last checks from my company but he couldn't check them again because he had no image. Wednesday I called and was told by a very nice young man that the checks had a different address. Fortunately I keep all my old checks and showed him they were exactly the same. The amounts were similar and the checks were exactly the same in all details except the check number. He admitted they were the same but told me there are many reasons it can be suspicious and it was to protect me. I pointed out that BOA had hundreds of payroll checks and dozens of expense checks from the same company and that I and they didn't need protection on any of them. It is the same company, payment pattern and check stock as they always had been.
I then asked him to explain to me how withholding money I had earned, for two weeks was a benefit to me when there was NOTHING to suggest there was a problem with the check. Obviously, he could not. I then asked him why I should have to pay overdraft fees when the money would have been there without the bank arbitrarily withholding MY funds. He could not answer that either. It took 3 days and several hours for me find out they are holding my check because they can. There is no reason he could give and every attempt was easily proved incorrect. They were holding just because they can and if they can do it to me beware, they can do it to you.
Somewhere along the way, big banks like Bank of America forgot that what they have is OUR money. I am not asking for a favor, it is mine. Based on this and earlier bad experiences I will be moving all my checking and savings to a smaller FDIC bank. It will be a hassle to reset up all my online banking and automatic withdrawals but a one time inconvenience is better than 3 days of aggravation whenever they decide to play with my funds. I would recommend staying away from Bank of America and if you currently bank there, beware!

Today was a very awful experience with Bank Of America at 250 E. Bearss Ave Tampa, FL 33613 with the Vice President **. He refused to provided customer service and they have proud on what they do and they can only as a "customer service" which makes a very bad impression because to top it all, it really sucks! I arrived to the Bank at 3:05 pm to send a wire but he said that there were two appts before me so for that reason it will not be possible to do so. I drove by another BOA on Fowler. Arrived at 3:35 pm. They were 20 times more busy than the one on Bearss.
Thankfully, the manager Jeremy ** was super helpful and very professional. He knows about service customer. Not only he told me I can wait but he told me how to do it online. He even print the instructions. BOA needs to send Manager ** TO CUSTOMER SERVICES CLASSES. DUE TO THIS PERSON AFTER 20 YEARS I AM TAKING MY BANKING SOMEWHERE ELSE. This the second occurrence, he refuse to notarized some paperS like two months and now refuse to do a wire. This is wrong. BOA needs to send ** to service customer classes.

Terrible Experience. Have been with Bank of America for 23 years. We had a customer to come in and purchase $8000, which we called to verify with the credit card processing company, and their response was that the card was good. Fast forward 3 days and there was a hold put on our account. All funds were held and we were not notified. Very poor customer service! We still cannot get a hold of anyone, we have left 20 messages within 2 days and they still have not answered any questions that we have. They told us all was well. We find out after having our account frozen that all was not well, and they waited for 7 days to contact us by MAIL!!! Small Business Run from this company!!!

I am going to open a new account, but in a different bank. Looks like there not a selection to rate experience below 1 star...

I have noticed suspicious banking practices for a long time now with Bank of America. I would love to do a study on transactions to prove their deceptive practices and start a class action lawsuit. They sit on funds for extended periods, they take advantage of people living paycheck to paycheck and rig the timing of items clearing your account to lead you to being withdrawn with [multiple] $35 charges. I had plenty of funds to cover my car payment, which showed as PAID on their website, but it didn't reflect on my checking account for several days which led me to being overdrawn.
They do this on purpose for people who are not good at keeping track, especially busy working parents. More fees on everything you could think of. And to top it off, every branch I walk into has about 10 (or more) teller stations and only 1 (yes, ONE) person working with a long line of people waiting for at least 30 minutes. Bank of America is a TRILLION dollar company and they can't staff their branches (or create jobs) to have decent customer service? Clearly they don't care about customer service at all, they just care about making more money. On top of that, their computer systems are way obsolete, just to get a cashier's check it takes them literally 10 minutes using an old, outdated process and slow computer systems.
I am sure the Executives are getting huge bonuses this year at the expense of customers. I am closing all my Bank of America accounts as a New Year's Resolution, out of principle, because it's worth the effort to me to take away business from the corporate crooks. The government should force the banks to employ people to provide a minimum service to the consumer. Where are the consumer advocacy groups? At least we have a CHOICE and we need to just move our accounts to a different bank.

Try asking for a manager and you are put on hold until you dry out and cannot hold anymore. Nice MO, BofA! Save yourself frustration… STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!

I had the unfortunate experience of speaking with Tracy ** on the Bank of America customer service line. When I tried to explain to her why my account should not have been overdrawn and then had accrued an overdraft fee, she rudely began to speak over me telling me how I had already agreed to all of the terms when signing up for the account. Well clearly they had not explained it well enough when I signed up, but she did not seem to care and she had actually insinuated that I was not intelligent for not originally understanding the terms of service. I am completely appalled at the way Tracy ** felt that she could talk to me and I never will have another bank account with Bank of America again!

I have been with Bank of America for over 5 years. Their customer service was generally very poor with the occasional exception. I put up with this since I didn't have to contact them too often. Last week, they unexpectedly closed my checking account. I had always kept a moderate balance so this couldn't be the issue. I've also never engaged in shady activity. Calling their customer services was utterly unhelpful. They would only tell me that "Bank of America reserves the right to close accounts" and "Bank of America can refuse to cite the reason for this decision" and "Bank of America's decision on this matter will not be reversed." No reason and no option for appeal. Unbelievable. Others who have also had the misfortune of experiencing this can attest to how infuriating this is.
From the time they terminate the account to the time you receive the check of your account's balance could be up to two weeks. They will not electronically wire your balance to another account. This basically means I will be without money for up to two weeks. This is a real shame. I think I was a good customer for them. I can't recommend Bank of America because of this.

Check this out! I go to the casino. I tried withdrawing money from my account and my card gets declined. I try again and I'm not sure why my card is declined again. I called the bank and they told me that they needed to increase a limit so I can actually use my card at the non Bank of America ATM (Which makes no sense), but that everything was back to normal and I may use my card now. I go back the ATM thinking everything is fine now, my card gets declined again. I try again thinking I might've not giving enough time to process again declined. I call them back. Takes them about 30 minutes to answer. I tell them the situation again, they assure me that the problem is fixed. I go back to the ATM again. My card is declined. Tried again this time finally my card works. Everything is good until the next day I see eleven charges for $2.50 from BANK OF AMERICA for using the ATM 11 charges.
I called them and they said that I had to pay them all those fees for using a non Bank of America ATM and for each time I swiped my card. I only pulled out money successfully twice. Where is all these fees coming from??? How is it my fault that even though I have plenty of money in my account they decide to clock my card? I feel they set me up to rob me and get away with it. This is how they get people and it's very wrong. I can care less about almost $30, but this is not right at all. You think your money is safe at the Bank but if they rob you for $30 I'm pretty sure they can also rob you for more!
Worst Bank in history!!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BANK AT ALL. Considering this is not the only bad story I have of them. They also held my paycheck for almost 3 weeks talking about they couldn't release my funds until they could verify that the check wasn't a FRAUD. I'm closing my account and moving on! THIS BANK IS A NIGHTMARE! DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT HERE.

Miscommunication between departments. These people are idiot, and useless. After so many years (6 years) working with them, they had zero respect for me. In August they asked for my driver's license info, and I went to bank personally to give them my new driver's license. After a week they closed my checking, and my car payment was returned and I had to pay fees for that, and I called them and asked why is that happening, they said they have not received my driver's license. I told them that they are stupid, and how come the banking center did not send them the driver's license. They said they are sorry and asked me to send it again by email. Then after 4 month, I realized they also closed my credit card because the credit department did not communicate with the rest of freaking B of A to get my driver's license.
I called them and asked them to reopen it after they got my driver's license. First the stupid guy said some nonsense that it is because of credit score and other stuff. I had to tell him that I have never heard any bank closes credit card based on credit score. Then he transferred me to “resolution person”. They said they can not reopen it, because this credit card is an old contract, that they don't have the same one anymore (the same APR, and etc). So they can not even re-open it. Well upon depositing my check I got a receipt out of machine starting I would not have access to any of my funds for 10 days... Very crooked when US Bank said just call they would order the money and in a couple of days I could come in and get the cash.
Bank of America prides themselves on being veteran friendly. Nonsense. I am a disabled American veteran...who Bank of America refuses to honor my check from another financial institution saying it's in my best interest that they basically collect the interest on my 41000 check. Telling me I just dont understand it may be returned or be fake. Yet I have all documentation. I lived thru the fire and Bank of America refused to give check back or honor it. Keeping a disabled American veteran unable to access his money or pay his Bills while they collect my interest...and me and my family collect late fees and disconnect notices.
Their system with their teller assist is not very good. Flawed. They will tell you whatever they want to. They pride themselves on being veteran friendly but yet lie to you and steals the interest on your money trying to get you to believe it takes 7 to 10 business days to cash a check from State Farm Insurance drawn on a US Bank account. I am beyond disgusted with this bank. I have a checking and savings account with them. I usually kept the minimum in the savings account just to keep the account open which I believe was $25. I just checked my savings account and noticed all these fees for the last few months. They said they raised the minimum to $500. I was outraged by this and they said I wasn't notified and they said it was in my statement. Honestly, do people read their statements Bank of America!! Millions of customers are oblivious to this and Bank of America is literally ripping them off. I asked them to refund my money and they only refunded 3 months worth of fees.
Then there was a charge on my card for a restaurant I have never been to. I disputed the charge and they said somebody had to have my pin number or somebody signed for the bill. As I knew nobody had the pin number, I requested a copy of the signature and they told me the merchant did not have to provide this. Bank of America refused to refund the charge. I have had these accounts for 30 years now (going back to the old Barnett Bank days). Periodically I deposit large Cashier's Checks when moving CDs from 1 bank to another and there has never been a problem until this week. I deposited a large check expecting next day availability since it was a Cashier's Check drawn on another large bank. Having worked in the banking industry, I know for a FACT that these checks clear electronically overnight and the actual paper check gets scanned & never gets physically 'presented'.
The teller processed my deposit and informed me there was a 7 day hold, but could not explain why, neither would he return the check. I have made 3 attempts (1 phone & 2 email) to get the hold lifted, but emails are unanswered and all I got from the 'help center' was some drone who could do nothing other than read the script on her screen stating they had to wait for the check to clear, then that I had not made a large deposit in a while (like that matters), so they were going to hold it. She actually got snotty when I pointed out these checks clear overnight.
Horrible treatment for a long term customer with substantial accounts, squeaky clean history (never once overdrawn) and credit rating. On my way now to open new accounts with another bank so I can have it all in place when they finally release the hold on this check. I will be sweeping all my $$$ out of BOA and will never do business with them again! Net is these large national banks don't give a hoot about their customer base, you are much better off with a local bank that actually appreciates your business, deposits and appreciates their customers.

I am a US citizen living overseas and have maintained two checking accounts at BofA for fifteen years. Not long ago, a large sum of money from the sale of a house in China entered the account. We bought a new house in California, and I later wrote a large check on BofA to our private bank, as that account allowed larger sums of money to be wired through online banking versus the $5,000 that BofA allowed me. The large transactions brought up some questions, and they wrote me asking for more information about my identity, US citizenship and line of business. I provided all the information and sent it back.
Yesterday, I went online and found that the account in question was no longer listed. This morning I received an email saying that said account had less than $25 in it, and would I please fund it. I went to online banking to transfer funds from one account to the other, and said account was nowhere to be found. I called up and asked what gives. The person I eventually reached said that information had been requested of the joint account holder but was not provided. I said that the letter was addressed to me alone, and I had provided the requested information. She said that another letter had allegedly been sent to my wife, the joint account holder, but had gone unanswered. I pointed out that we had never received such letter. She replied that they had followed up by a phone call. I noted that we do not use our US cellphones while abroad in order to avoid roaming charges, but they have our email addresses and could have notified us by email.
She did not respond. I asked if she could send the forms requesting the information, preferably by email. She said they had closed the account. I asked if it could be reopened. No, it was closed. I asked what happened to the money in it. She said a check had been sent to our address abroad. I asked what happened if the check, like the additional questionnaire, did not arrive. She replied that after 90 days I could call this number again and sort it out with them. I asked if there was any chance of reopening the account. She said, no, I would have to open a new one. I assured her that I would open a new one. At another bank. This is how BofA treats its customers of 15 years. When I get back to the US, I plan to close the other account as well.

I informed this whole thing to bank along with the documents and contact details and our conversation. Bank of America closed my accounts and reported to ChexSystems when it was not at all my fault. They were rude and very unsupportive. I should have never banked with them. Would advise everyone never do banking with them.

BOA is the biggest Rip off Bank for Consumers. They spend all of their time coming up with ways to charge more fees. Now they send images of your checks and then charge you a Service for doing it. The customer, like myself never signed up for this Service. It is just one more example where the BOA will rip you off at every chance that they can. I had to call BOA and first find out what this Service charge was for and then I had to cancel this unauthorized Service. What a RIP OFF Bank BOA is.

One day I had money, the next day I was overdrawn. I had no way to anticipate the possibility that my money would be sequestered the way it has been. Because I erroneously deposited a check twice using their shoddy mobile app (I don't care what JD Powers says) I deposited a check. I didn’t get any confirmation that it went through and it being my first time using the service, it appeared as though it didn’t work. I came back to the ATM the following day and physically deposited the check. I made charges using the Google Play app but this was too unusual. These activities caused the bank to basically freeze and overdraw my account – without explanation.
Ridiculous hold times, no chat or email options to reach customer service. I’m helpless – how the hell could I possibly know what’s going on with my account with such scant information and access. I called twice in one day and get new info the 2nd time around… a “memo hold”? And they even tied up my direct deposit – I only earned that money. Wait I earned all of this money so why can’t I use it? Security? None of this is done on behalf of the customer so how is this supportive? Where’s the advocacy? They must be 'chomping at the bit' to charge me fees. Stay away from this bank especially in the south.

This is the 1st review I have ever written. Before the middle of Nov., I applied a Bank of America credit card online in order to shop for Thanksgivings. I did not receive the card and there were fraud transactions with the card. When I called the customer service hotline 1-800-421-2110 on different days, two times needed to hold over 15-20 minutes. One time even took over 1 hour and 45 min. So I just hung up and think I should write a review with my experience. I cannot believe this kind of poor customer service will happen with an American major bank. On Nov.19, when I called the bank to report that I had never received the card, I was told that they would investigate the fraud case and re-send me a new card. However, as of Dec.1, I still did not receive any of the BOA credit card.

If I had the option to leave zero stars I would. Do not bank here if you want peace of mind you have access to your money. This bank is holding a PAYROLL check for 8 DAYS. I work for a larger company and I’ve also deposited several paychecks already. This is not a new check and I am not a new customer. I made an ATM deposit with the check and some cash on 11/27. I then proceeded to pay my bills given that our deposit slips indicate that there is an available balance right away but purchases will be covered from that date with full funds available the next day. This is totally normal and not a big deal. I paid my bills as I always do within the available balance, but I always make sure not to include the small amount they hold. I log in later the following day to find my account is in the negative.
Of course I was confused and alarmed but then I see a hold has been placed on my paycheck? I called immediately to find out what was happening and the result of the call was that I would need to call back the next day to see what was going on. They had enough to take my money from me but not enough to tell me why they did it. I call back as instructed and I am told that my PAYCHECK is an “at risk check” and it will take them 8 DAYS to make a phone call to the other bank verify the check.
The funds will not be released to me until December 5th. I said this was ridiculous and explained to them they’ve cashed these checks before, offered to help verify it myself, and they wouldn’t help AT ALL. They’ve also bounced payments that I made on my bills so there will fees assessed to my outside accounts that were affected. I chose Bank of America because it is national and I am not a local to the area. I can’t tell you how much I now regret that decision. I have been with B of A for many years and run hundreds of thousands of dollars through my accounts. I have noticed in the last year or two that the customer service is going downhill and fast. Today I moving money via check from US Bank to B of A. It was a large sum, so I spoke with the manager at US Bank on how to best accomplish this without a hold on the funds. He told me to have the manager at B of A call him when I presented the check to see if he could help authorize the funds faster than usual. The bank are across the street from each other and the managers know each other.
I presented at B of A and asked for the manager and she wouldn't even come out of the back room to meet me. She sent the guy back who greeted me at the door to tell me they don't do check authorizations with other banks and I would just have to take what the system proposed. I tried to explain to the guy... reportedly the financial services manager... my situation of needing some of funds sooner in order to pay off a loan and was basically treated like a criminal. He was rude and condescending. Whatever happened to good customer service? Now mind you, this is my branch that I deposit at least $10k to $12k an month into and they see me there almost weekly.
So basically, B of A is going to skim the interest off of my deposit for 7 days before releasing the funds for my use. In the meantime, I get to incur another month's worth of interest for not paying my other loan off in the next few days. For me this was the straw. It isn't even the hold on the funds that pushed me over the edge. It is that the 'manager' Sara wouldn't even come out to talk to me and that the financial services manager treated me like I was a POS off the street trying to fish the nickels out of fountain or something. We will be moving banks as soon as this check clears.

I am absolutely disappointed with the fact that Bank of America wasted an hour and a half of my time in their office, not to mention the 40 minute drive to visit the location. We spent a long time trying to simply set up a secured credit card for my wife, but was told that cash and debit card was all of the sudden not good enough to pay the deposit, though it was said in the beginning of the conversation that cash or debit card is fine. I was then told that I had to provide my routing and account number because that was the only method of payment the system would accept for some reason. THEN, after me spending 10 minutes to get that info and giving it to Chase, I was told that that is also not going to work; now they wanted a paper check and that it was the only thing they would take.
I also wanted to open a checking and savings account during this visit since BOA emailed me a $300 offer to do so for my credit card history I have, but with all of this ridiculous, unacceptable, time consuming BS, I told Chase to not worry about setting up any services. If this is how Bank of America does things, I wish to have NO part in allowing them to handle my money. I turned down a $300 offer because it’s not worth the time I would have to spend dealing with a bank who doesn’t even have knowledge of how their system works, the process of basic procedures, and does not seem to think that my HARD EARNED cash or electronic info is not good enough for a $300 security deposit.
I have banked with Regions for many years and have had good outcomes with them. After leaving Bank of America completely unsatisfied, upset and disgusted, I went straight to Regions down the street, and they had us set up with an approved card within 25 minutes. They ensured that we left satisfied. I've been a loyal customer of Bank of America for over 25 years, but that does not mean anything to Bank of America (BoA). The recent levy of $12/month maintenance fee only serves the profit making purpose of Bank of America unilaterally. Not long ago the American Taxpayer bailed them out by giving BoA over 60 BILLION dollars, GAVE them away. So, if BoA screws up, it's their customers who end up being screwed; and now look at the quality of customer service! Walk into any BoA branch, with only one cashier servicing long lines.
I confronted a local BoA branch Manager about such pathetic downright unacceptable service levels, and her response in a nutshell was, "They (BoA) want you to use the app rather than heading to the branch." Well, sometimes, certain tasks require a human interaction, RIGHT!? Would someone take notice and perhaps do anything? One less customer for Bank of America probably does not mean much, but for how long would BoA will dodge the bullet? Bank of America put a temporary credit to my account. Bank of America reversed the temporary credit on November 16, 2018. The electronic letter sent indicates that Bank of America reversed the temporary credit after determining that statements were mailed and payments were made.
The truth is I never received any statements, and I made payments without reviewing them. Please note I have a secured credit card from Bank of America. With that in mind, I never care much about the amount due because I know that it is already fully paid through my secured deposit. No analysts from Bank of America ever contacted me to ask questions about what happened and how I think my banking information was stolen from me. If someone did, I would have been able to explain what happened and not have to go through this nightmare where 50% of my monthly salary will be compromised not making me able to pay for my mortgage and necessary expenses such as gas and electricity.
In May 2018 I accepted a job offer from a company based in Chicago. The start date was one week after signing the offer letter. It was a big career move, and I was excited to start working. For this reason, I needed to move from California to Illinois in June 2018. I looked for hotels in Chicago but could not find anything affordable in such short notice. With the approaching pressing start date at work, I decided to rent a room through Craigslist. Now I see that renting a room was not a wise decision. I stayed in a four-bedroom house in Chicago where the owner rented all the available bedrooms to tourists.
Throughout the six weeks that I remained there at least 20 different people, from all over the world, rented rooms in the same house. I always took good care of my information, Nevertheless, I believe someone stole my credit card and banking information during this period. I did not realize that someone used my cards until late October. The main reasons for that were: I also bank with Citibank, and until recently I mostly used Citibank. I bought a house in the Chicago area, and that alone created a significant amount of expenses such as lawyer fees, property taxes, appraisal, homeowners' insurance, moving expenses, etc.
Between June 4, 2018, and July 16, 2018, I did not have an actual physical home address to receive my credit card and bank statements. Only after I moved to my own house that I could receive my monthly statements. In the summary of facts above put me in a unique position where I was not aware that someone used my card until a long time has passed. I can prove that my signature and passwords were not used in any of the fraudulent transactions. The merchants should be responsible for not checking the ID of the people using my card (not me), but Bank of America does not seem to care.

The second major thing is they are impossible to get a hold of! It's a 30 min wait to speak to someone and there is no way to chat with an agent online anywhere or email them. It's ridiculous. I was trying to dispute a charge that was taken out of $300 and they said you can do it on a desktop. I spent so much time on the desktop and app and nowhere did I find this and I couldn't even get in touch with anyone to help.

I was first married at age 18 and we opened a checking account with B of A. My last name was ** then, and the bank confused us with another ** family. They returned a month's worth of checks and charged us overdraft fees we couldn't afford. We left B of A without ever receiving help with their mistake. Older and theoretically wiser, later in my life, I had a B of A credit card. My credit was perfect. But B of A once again confused me with another woman (I had a different last name this time) and I ended up with seven hundred dollars in bank charges that weren't mine. This time I fought the mess, and I still lost money.
Somehow I wound up, later, with a different credit card that was through B of A. I didn't know it was or I wouldn't have accepted the card. And there were charges on my bill that I didn't make and other problems. I'm now a senior citizen. I did have a bankruptcy years ago when everything I had needed to go to medical expenses. Desperate, I tried B of A for a line of credit -- any line of credit -- and was turned down. I would not recommend this bank to anyone, and there are a lot of truly terrible banks out there. Think twice before trying B of A. No, think three times. You can do better.

My bill pays scheduled on the first - there can be small variances based on the day of the week - however in November. All of my bills scheduled for the first ended up clearing on the 8th - I should have been checking my account. However I thought the bills cleared in the first few days. So I went overdrawn by an amount under $10 and charged a $35 fee. This appears deliberate and predatory in my opinion. If it is happening to me it probably is happening to others as well. No too pleased.

In May 2018, I opened a BofA business checking and merchant services account, in part 'cause the bank rep told me we would qualify for a $300 credit if we did one of 3 things, such as $5000 in deposits within 60 days, and a $200 credit if we did $1000 thru merchant services. She showed me printed literature, but did not allow me to take it with me. I knew I would meet the $5000 deposit requirement easily, and did, soon after opening the account. The merchant services qualification process was ridiculously onerous, so I discontinued that and kept on using Square, PayPal, Stripe, etc. After the 60 days passed and no deposit of $300, I called to find out the status. A rep investigated and said we had qualified, but BofA might take until Nov 1 to apply the credit.
Just called and was told by a rep that 'Well, actually' I needed to do two of 3 things to qualify for the $300 credit, and hadn't done a second, which could've been $1000 in merch services transactions, or something else that escapes me now. This was not in the literature I was shown and not allowed to take, and it was not mentioned in my July phone call, when I was told we had qualified. I'll be closing this account asap. BofA is unethical. They used our money for the last six months based on false representations.

Once it was changed over then if incurred a maintenance fee of $12 a month unless there was a daily balance of $1,500 dollars in the account or a direct deposit of $500 a month. This was not intended to be a checking account. Just a place I could utilized as a PayPal account.
Since I did not see the email about the change in account, I got charged with 7 months of maintenance charges. Because it was an eline account, I did not get paper statements, so I did not notice the change. I am so over Bank of America and all the ** they pull. I consider myself a very loyal consumer. I weigh the good and the bad, and usually blame myself for issues. I was a personal client, so opened my new business accounts there. Bad, bad idea. They hold your money hostage and couldn’t care less that they are ruining your business and credit. For example, I would deposit a check for $20,000. I’d get a deposit slip that said it would clear in three days. Then on the third day, they’d list that it would credit in another ten days. No one can say why, and one person even told me to call my client and see if it had cleared their bank. In that case, it was transferred three minutes after the deposit was made. Still, I didn’t receive money until the ten days had lapsed.
After being abused by BOA for another two months and having the same issue repeatedly, I complained to Dean Athanasia, the Sr VP for Small Business banking. Lo and behold, the issue got resolved the next day. But they also decided that my complaint was so valid, and that I was armed to lodge complaints with the FDIC, so they opted to retaliate by closing all of my accounts. That would be fine if they had notified me immediately. Instead the letter dated October 1 was posted on the 10th and received the 12th. It gave me 8 business days to open a new account and get everything transferred over. I neglected to change my Square account over, and even though they closed the account, they took the deposit. AND REFUSED TO GIVE ME THAT MONEY.
I worked with Cole ** - I thought he was great at first, but he ultimately screwed the pooch. He said he would have the check cut and waiting for me at a banking center, but didn’t bother to actually do that. It went thru the normal system and two weeks later, I still haven’t received my money. Want my advice? Run as fast as you can away from this pathetic, abusive bank. I’ve never been treated worse - they truly couldn’t give a flying fig about their clients or how inept their teams are, and don’t care if they bankrupt you as long as they get their money. Next stop? Filing FDIC complaints... Seriously, class action lawsuit worthy.

In 2017 I mailed a property tax check on April 10th. Came back home and decided to log in to BOA account to transfer 6500 from savings to checking. As I did that I came to know I can't do it myself because my account is inactive (no activity for 2 years). This was shocker for me because I NEVER received any such letter from BOA. What an irresponsible bank!! I have bank accounts in 10 different banks and if I had no activity for 2 years I DO GET A MAIL to take an action.
So anyways, I asked the online representative to make my account active and he said I will have to go to a local branch to do it. Next afternoon I went to the bank to make it active again. Bank associate did that but said it will take 24 hours to take effect and I can't make any money transfers until then. Now this was a huge problem because if the county receives the check this evening they will be depositing it first thing either evening or morning. And that's exactly what happened. In the morning I logged on to my account and found the check was returned!! County was notified of insufficient funds and returned my check!! This mistake on BOA's part caused me $750 fine by the county. After which I decided to close my 18 year old accounts with BOA.

I became a victim of fraudulent activity October 12th from an unknown person that gained access to my account and did Zelle transactions. Here's how it began, I received an email stating I need to update my contact information with BOA, so I print off the email and went to the local branch. When I arrived the banker advised me that the email wasn't from them and gave me an email to report it to forward it to their team that research/investigate scam emails. The banker then thought it was a good idea (as did I) to get another bank card being that I have been with them for 23 YEARS and to change pin number. This happened at 1:30pm, I then went to the ATM to activate the temporary card. The time is now 1:33 pm. I then went back to work. Then beginning at 2:30-2:45 I continued to get emails asking me to confirm a Zelle transaction, well I didn't because I never have used Zelle nor was I even aware of what it was.
So after about 4 transactions I pulled up my account to see that my funds were gone. I then went into the same local branch that I went to an hour prior and advised the bankers that I need to know what to do, and one lady told me that she could put me in a room to call the fraud department because she has a scheduled appointment coming in shortly, mistake #1. I then left the bank and called the fraud dept for them to tell me it will take 2 weeks before they would consider a provisional credit, mistake #2. I explained to the fraud department that I had bills that would be automatically withdrawn from my account, and I was advised that they are "sorry" but they would be denied because my account has been frozen, mistake #3. I then asked if I could possibly get at least some cash out because I do not have any cash on me and the representative advised me to use a credit card, mistake #4. Who said I have a credit card ma'am??!!
I have so much more to say about this 2 weeks of hell that I experienced and BOA did not show any form of compassion, just came across as if I was the criminal and not the victim, needless to say after 23 years I took my coins and left their institution! I asked one banker could they define FDIC to me, and I heard crickets... nothing. The follow up words were: "We understand and are sorry that this happened ma'am." I stated to the banker that I went to Wal-mart and their chip reader was malfunctioning and you all denied my transaction and I had to call in line at the store to say it was me. But you see multiple transaction going to a FOREIGN name, person, and the amounts and never flagged my account and called FOUR days later and left a VM saying it "appears" your account has some fraudulent activity and we are blocking your account. Really? Really?

The last time this happened I informed BOA that this is unacceptable. They responded with a final fix, a note and fee waiver was placed on the account to make sure it did not happen again.
Less than a year later they started charging fees again. They drained the account and have refused to return the fees. They even have a scripted answer. “The fees have been assessed correctly and will not be refunded.” Bank Of America is fee hungry, has no interest in customer satisfaction. BOA is good at one thing charging fees. There are lots of banks to choose from and online banks will accurately pay you some interest 1-5%. I think they make a good chunk of change off its customers, with no respect to them.

OK I have needed to visit my branch weekly because they don't know how to value security. In one month I have claimed at least 3 unauthorized transactions, so I follow the link to the bank's mailbox and they won't recognize my passcode. So I had to change it 3 times because the user ID box is bugged and it erases whatever username I have saved. So I get that fixed and then they want my social security # and my debit card # for access? It's not finished yet though now they want me to make a new passcode again and again 3 times in total. Isn't that the bank violating their own golden rules just to force me to keep changing my passcode 3 times?

Over and over again...Bank of America has kicked me when I was down. As a not-yet-successful entrepreneur, my balance often drops to dangerous levels. I don't over-draw but I often get down to the point where the balance goes under $35 so of course Bank of America takes that as a fee. Makes sense... Two years ago they finally cancelled my no-fee checking account when my balance went too low for a while. Now...as long as I have a solid balance they simply impose fees whenever they can. Pure evil. But just like ALL modern banks.
Now they've taken it too far. Out of nowhere, they've decided to place a hold on my regular payroll check citing no reason. I know the reason is because my balance is low. So here's how it works. If the customer HAS plenty of money take as much of it as you can. But if the customer has very little money try to take it all. Try to force them into a position where their balance goes lower and lower so that fees can be imposed and the rest of the balance can be drained. Bank of America does not need customers like me. But next month, I will finally be receiving a long awaited investment in my business. Needles to say I will not be opening my business accounts there.

Prior to the events that occurred in the spring of last year (2017), I was a loyal Bank of America customer. I made sure that I followed bank policies and I thought that if something were to happen to me (say, being a victim of a work from home scam) that Bank of America would look out for me but that wasn't the case. Instead, they made me feel like I was a criminal and closed my checking and saving account. Despite not knowing that a deposit that was sent to my account came from an account with a history of fraudulent activity, they were not willing to reverse their decision to close the account and reported me to ChexSystems. As a result, I now have to wait at least 5 years before I can try to open an account anywhere. Even if Bank of America were to give me another chance (which, for the record, they say that I wouldn't to open an account there EVER AGAIN), I would go elsewhere.

As expected within a few minutes I received an email (above) indicating that my account had been disabled, and that to re-enable it I would need to call a customer support number.
I called the number provided and was placed on hold for ~12 minutes. The representative who responded told me that I would need to speak to a "senior analyst", and I was placed on hold again for ~15 minutes, at which point the call was disconnected. I called again and was again on hold for ~10 minutes. The representative who answered this time indicated that there was no one available to assist me, and that I would need to call back the following day. In short, I spent ~40 minutes to receive no assistance. My account is still disabled and the funds are unavailable. Please re-enable the account immediately, and STOP disabling the account for activity that is not fraud.

It amazes me that Bank of America remains one of the biggest banks in the US. Given how they continually put the screws on their own customers, it's a testament to the failure of contemporary capitalism. Although I don't live in America anymore, an American account in order to pay my student loan debt and make use of a US account whenever I visit my family. I regularly send in money to my account at the beginning of every month, although sometimes the payments take a little longer since it is an international transfer. This month my money was literally late by less than half a day, but this didn't stop BoA from charging me $105 (!!!!) in overdraft fees.
When I called and explained to them what happened, after 1 hour of waiting on the customer service line, they informed me that they would not be refunding me any money at all. Keep in mind, this company routinely charges 14 dollars a month in "maintenance fees" aka the privilege of having an account with Bank of America. When I asked what could be done to get out of this fee, they said it can be avoided by opening another account. In other words, feed into the scam that is Bank of America. Well, no longer, I am done. On September 21,2018, I electronically transferred $800.00 from Capital One to my Bank of America checking account using Bank of America's website. The transaction was scheduled as a one-day transaction. Therefore, the money should have been in my Bank of America checking account by the end of the business day. However, this was not the case.
When I noticed that the transaction was not settled, I called Bank of America. They transferred me from person to person. I spoke to over fifteen Associates. Even though I had the confirmation number for the transaction, they could not settle the issue. They saw that the money was debited from my Capital One account on September 24. Finally, after speaking to someone at the Executive Customer Service Level, I was informed that the $800.00 transaction would be settled by October 4th. Needless to say, it was not settled. Executive customer service did explain that there was a technology error, which is not my problem. My money was taken out of my Capital One and disappeared into thin air. Bank of America owes me $800.00 of my own money. It has been two weeks and no one at Bank of America has helped to retrieve my money. Consequently, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as I need to obtain my money.
Bank of America does not care about the financial sustainability of customers. Thankfully, I am fortunate enough to be able to pay my bills, but what about those individuals who rely on their money immediately for living expenses? Would Bank of America stand by and watch someone be evicted from their apartment or lose a home due to foreclosure? Does Bank of America care if someone has food on the table? It seems to me that Bank of America is very uncompassionate towards customers. This is a key problem in our society. Everything seems to be about corporations making money as opposed to the well being of our fellow human beings. I strongly advise all individuals who bank at Bank of America to close their accounts and move to a trustworthy bank. It is unfortunate that in today’s day and age, corporations cannot be trusted. Do not wait until this happens to you.

I made a check deposit by teller at a local branch on a Friday. By Saturday I still did not even see the check pending to my account so I called customer service. I was told there was no record of my check ever being deposited. Despite having my of deposit slip, I was transferred from department to department and ultimately told it’s not customer services responsibility and the liability falls on the branch where the deposit was made. So, I had to drag my 2 year old down to the branch where the deposit was made and was told it wasn’t their error, it was an internal error. I have never dealt with such poor customer service and negligence in my life! All anyone did was point the finger at the next person.
Finally a claim to locate my lost deposit was submitted and it is now 4 days later with no sign of my check. I am now inconvenienced yet again, and having to contact the issuer of the check in order to have them stop payment on it so a new check can be issued. This entire process has been a nightmare with no sense of urgency on Bank of America’s part. Needless to say, I was once a long time customer of this bank of over 10 years but I will be taking my business elsewhere.
After fighting with them since Saturday about my funds, I still don’t have my money and have been told “they are working on locating my check.” Nobody is expediting this process, or offered to put the amount of the check in my account during their research and retrieval process. The responsibility of this entire ordeal has been placed on me, despite their negligence! I was responsible for making all calls, claims and dragging my toddler down to the branch. Literally the worst customer service I have ever experienced. After a little google search, it turns out this happens to thousands of other customers regularly when making large check deposits; some of which are still fighting for their money a year later with legal representation. I called Bank of America with an ongoing issue. Let me start by saying I’ve been a member since 1994. I stay with Bank of America because typically they have been good to me as a consumer and therefore I’ve been a loyal customer. However, the last 26 months I’ve had to make numerous calls to stop an automatic debit of $12.99/mo for BAC credit surveillance. I have had another company monitoring my credit for years and did not need this service. I did not pay attention every month to realize they continued to deduct the $12.99. Every couple of months I would review my statement and realize Bank of America continued to remove this from my account. I consistently called every 2-4 months over the past 26 months to stop this.
It has come to the point I feel my own bank of 24 years is stealing from me. Every time I explained this to an associate I heard the same thing “I apologize, it should no longer occur”. Unfortunately, until I spoke to Raul no one had ever given me a reference number or case number (which I did not know one should have been generated each time the request was made). Raul sincerely took an interest in my frustration and explained the process, gave me his name, a case number, and asked I call to follow up with the provided information. To date, $337.74 have been removed from my account without my permission. Unfortunately the cost of an attorney is not worth the time and effort to retrieve.
However, I will post my extreme loss of trust I have with Bank of America publicly so others will know what they are getting themselves into. I have been a loyal customer for a very long time and would not expect this unprofessionalism from this type of corporation but then again I didn’t expect it like in the early 2000s when Bank of America had a system that consistently charged ridiculous overdraft fees after strategically processing larger charges first regardless of date charged. I didn’t forget and I’m sure after being sued they did not forget either. I believe Raul provided me exceptional service and as a nursing director in a mid-size hospital, I would be glad to have him on my team. As for you Bank of America, it’s time I take my business to a more trustworthy corporation.

This past March 14, 2017, I was the victim of fraud by a Bank of America (BofA) customer who called himself “Richard.” This customer gave me his Bank of America account number and shared numerous fraudulent contracts impersonating multiple individuals who do not exist. Ultimately, I transferred $6,000 to “Richard’s” Bank of America account from my account shortly before realizing he was defrauding me.
As a fellow Bank of America customer, I believed I was protected by Bank of America and furthermore. I believed that Bank of America had the consumer protections necessary to avoid dealing with criminals, to detect fraudulent behavior proactively, and if nothing else, to have the basic capacity to intervene and help when a customer tells Bank of America to cancel 2 transfers totaling $6,000 due to fraudulent activity.
After I notified the authorities of Richard’s fraudulent behavior, the San Francisco DA’s office began investigating and continues to search for Richard today. However, Bank of America decided not to cancel my transfers, and later ‘unfroze’ this criminal’s BofA account, enabling Richard to walk away with $6,000 in an honest customer’s money, fraudulently, while BofA knew of Richard potentially fraudulent behavior.
On Monday, March 20, I went into Bank of America with files proving up to 9 instances of fraud with a total of 99 pages of documentation that I shared to provide fraud. Bank of America initially froze Richard’s account on Friday, March 17, 2017 for potential identity theft. However, the instant BofA learned that it might not be directly liable (i.e., only indirectly) for this criminal activity and that the fraud occurred outside of Bank of America, Bank of America re-opened Richard’s account and knowingly enabled Richard to withdraw all $6,000, the entirety of my life savings.
If Bank of America had acted responsibly and like all of the other U.S. Banks, had implemented infrastructure to prevent fraud, return transfers made due to fraud, or had simply kept Richard’s BofA account frozen for just a few days longer, the authorities would have gotten involved and my $6,000 would have been returned to me, as the criminal would have been forced to forfeit his account. Instead, BofA was negligent, ignoring a loyal customer’s pleas and aiding and abiding criminal activity. This is how Bank of America’s negligence facilitated an instance of fraud & money laundering.
To expound, when the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reached out to BofA in lieu of me reporting this situation just a short week later, Bank of America responded to the CFPB by closing Richard’s account for ‘suspicious behavior’. For the first time, BofA took action. However, this action was in an effort to protect itself, rather than its valued customers. About 3 weeks after the $6,000 transfer was executed, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Consumer Fraud division contacted BofA with Richard’s bank account information (provided by me). Bank of America refused to provide the SFDA’s office with the name of the individual using his account number, knowing that a subpoena would be the only way to investigate further. Bank of America stifled a government investigation rather than helping its client and the SFDA.
The fact is that even while knowing of an open investigation and having access to 99 pages of documentation proving Richard’s fraudulent activity, Bank of America acted against the best interest of its client, disregarding the facts, aiding and abiding a criminal in committing fraud, and stifling justice at customer’s expense. In short, Bank of America acted negligently.
As of my last communication with the SFDA on Dec 1, 2017, there was still an open investigation to find “Richard”. Bank of America has since closed Richard’s account and denied the SFDA’s requests to obtain “Richard’s” true identity. I fear I will never get my $6,000 back, for BofA willingly facilitates money laundering until the US authorities get involved, whereupon BofA seems willing to obstruct justice and the American justice system in favor of protecting itself despite its own customers’ chagrin.

Whoever did the investigation on this matter did not do a very good job because I was able to find out some information that BofA did not have such as the name on the account the money was transferred to was not my name, it was Albert ** and it wasn't Bancorp. It was to a NetSpend prepaid card which hackers and thieves use to steal money and have it not be traceable. This is a very cut and dry case and I am getting terrible service and need the $470 refunded to my account ASAP.

If you are thinking about open an account in Bank of America, go the other way. Fintechs in general give better everything, from rates to customer service. But if you still need a big bank, I'd recommend Chase. BoA: 1. Poor customer service. Requested a new card (mine expired) and they blocked my account completely. I couldn't use it online, nor with the card. (Technology nowadays and they could not send it to be activate upon arrival?) 2. High fees and low returns. It's no wonder that Buffett is in it. The moat was created and he put his king on it. He knows it's a hard business to compete so they can abuse customers this way. At least, compared to BoA Chase is a bit better in rates and in service. But if you can, stay away from all of them, and just go to these new tech companies in the finance industry, they are better at everything.

Finally someone answered and I asked them what was so urgent that they called more than 15 times but then they wouldn't answer their own d--- Customer Service line. Also they don't remind you every month, they only do it in the first few months and then they assume the customer is aware of the change. This is unacceptable. Well on 08/31 at 8:30 am I deposited a check for $1200 and I didn't get those funds until 09/06... so you know what that means. I was late on rent... it came back as a returned check. The crazy part is most apartments Bank with BOA... so why wouldn't the accounts have the communication between one another.
Furthermore looking at my statement it said the funds were available on 09/01. I paid rent on 09/03... and it says my fund were put on hold 09/04... so why was my funds put on hold the following day after I made a big rent transaction.... this seems very sketchy. My apartments will not remove the fees and states I need to get it back from the bank. Of course the bank is acting like they can't do anything for me. This is not what I was expecting from a bank. I never had this many problems with a bank before. I will be going into the branch today hoping to get some sort of resolution. Oh and I was able to get my $35 return check fee after I asked to speak with a manager. Hold time anytime I call is 30 plus minutes... and if you get transferred you will start that all over again.

We applied for a small credit increase on a credit card from Bank of America. We have had this card for over 10 years. The credit increase was declined for the following reasons: 1. We had one (1) late payment. 2. We had too much debt (most of which has been paid off but not reflected by the credit bureaus). 3. Our home and all vehicles are paid for but was not considered. 4. We have a substantial investment with their associate and was not considered. In other words only the negative was considered but none of the positive. We closed the account and told the employee why we were doing it and what would be said if we have a chance. If a bank makes small credit decisions based on this, can you imagine what they use to make big decisions like mortgages. Whatever you do, find another bank.

It was my first time to call BOA customer service since I opened an account last year with Bank of America. The reason I called was there is a unauthorized online payment posted on my account from a person I don't know who from another State. But when I called BOA customer service, the estimate waiting time was 20-25 minutes. Finally a customer representative answered phone and then I just realized it is a very complicated process to dispute the charge, BOA need send me a letter with dispute form by USPS mail which requires me to fill out and mail it back to BOA... Then it needs about 45 days for whole processing. It seems much complicated than other Banks to dispute a charge.
After those experiences, I decided to close my BOA Account due to: 1. The Security Levels of BOA. This account was only for my small investment purpose so there only a few transactions in this account each month, plus I don't even have debit card for this account. I don't understand how my account was compromised so easily. This never happened to my checking accounts with other Banks. People have credit card account fraud but for checking account without using debit cards it should be not happen so easily if the Bank security levels are solid. 2. Customer service call center waiting time was horribly long (it was my worst bank customer service experience). 3. The dispute processing is too complicated than other banks.

BOA is required to make funds available to you per Reg C within 5 business days at the most. Do they follow Reg C? Nope. Report them to CFPB for Reg C violations. BOA is required to report accurate information to credit reporting agencies. Do they? Nope - they can close your checking account and report you for account abuse or fraud for no reason at all. Report the to the CFPB for FCRA violations. Get your Chexsystems report and dispute their inaccurate reporting. Sue them under the FCRA.
There is something severely wrong with a bank that does not take cash deposits (requires money orders or cashier's checks and does not make money immediately available), a bank who violates Reg C at will and a bank who targets certain customers for lengthy account closures which tie up your money for long periods of time. Plus the made up fees and “creative” posting of items to rack up fees so they can just keep your money forever. What do all these have in common? This bank needs you to keep your money in their bank, and if you use your money they will ruin your financial life and reputation - and STILL keep your money as they close out your account. My prediction is that this bank will either need a bailout in the next 5 years or will go under (or eaten up by a bank with a healthier balance sheet). Avoid this abusive bank. It can happen to you. You are risking not only your money but your good reputation.

I received a bank Levy by mail from Bank of America. Nowhere on the letter does it state that they will take $125 from your account when you receive a tax order debt. I received my driver's license at 25 years old. I then received a tax ordered it for $18,000 which I have made payment on since 2008. It's 10 years and I'm down to $400. Starting Feb, 2018 my son was killed by a car. We lost their father in April, I almost lost my mom in June. My family has been through the most. I have not had a job in almost 2 years. All of my money is gone now. Thanks to Bank of America. I received letter telling me Franchise Tax Board took $125 from me then upon my investigation I found that Franchise Tax Board never got money out of the account but Bank of America took all my savings which was $77. They left $30 in my checking. I'm guessing so that next I can receive an overdraft fee.
I went to make a payment for a bill only for my card to decline. I called Bank of America. The Banker that took my call, told me that the funds a total of $125 was paid to Franchise Tax Board so when I call to find out why they do a thing when I've been on a payment plan for 10 years. I paid twice in May making payment for May and June but then no payment was made in June because I assumed the extra payment for May will coverage you then I paid July August wasn't due but they hit my account with a levy. Never got any money from Bank of America but Bank of America took me under by taking the last money for my PG&E and water bill and kept it for a bank fee.
I am very sad and disappointed to the point that a mother of 4 with an absence son and father of this year and almost my mother they care nothing about my issues only that they was nice to leave me $30 in my account. If I slide it to buy my kids food I will be over drafted. It will not overdraft me to pay my PG&E. It declines. They say the customer mean the most to them but that is a total lie. They care nothing of so I have bills on autopay that is being declined because of Bank of America taking all my money out of my account then sent a letter blaming the funds on Franchise Tax Board.
Not one time on the letter do it State Bank of America charge 125 although because of me paying this debt for the last 10 years I am aware of some banks doing so but I've always would receive it in documentation writing. It doesn't even read on my bank statement that they kept $125. This is a secret if you go overlooked of $100. You will never know that you were charge 125. I usually save money into my account but because of this reason it has scared me into leaving more than $100 in my account at one time. It's sad but it's true. Sometimes families go through things and you would think that your financial situation would be of concern. Now I can somewhat relate to those people that writes bad checks in order to get by.

I closed my account because Bank of America charged me two times for overdrafting my account once. I called and called and called, while I understood the one fee I did not understand the two. I asked them to please refund me the second charge, to no avail. I was so upset I moved forward with closing my account. Fast forward to 6 months from then, guess who receives a check in the mail issuing a refund for an overdraft fee that was made in error. I closed my account behind this, no one, and I spoke with many people, would help me resolve this. I suppose it's great that they admit their wrongdoings but they lost a customer in the process.
Furthermore, I had been a customer since 2005. And to add to this story, something changed by roughly around 2008, I began to get charged anytime I went into the bank or used a teller in the drive through. The only way to avoid that fee was by using the ATM. Also, look up BOA lawsuits for overdraft fees - they are notorious for double charging fees. Look, I've moved on, but I highly recommend you look elsewhere for your banking needs. A lot of people will talk negatively about this bank. However, their negative feedback is based either on one account type or a level of ignorance towards Bank of America policies. As I have had my accounts with them for a very long time, I have never had an issue with them. The fees and charges are properly described by their agreements (which you should learn to read), the money in their accounts is accessible around the world as they link with other banks. I lived in China for 4 years and was able to deposit and withdraw without any charge for exchanging RMB. The account showed how much I had in USD and RMB, and I would just withdraw RMB without an exchange charge, WONDERFUL!!
Also, their customer service, though has long wait times, are extremely helpful. I truly feel they are on your side in any situation. I called to cancel my payments on an autopay to a toll company because they were wrongfully charging me. They not only stopped payments, but also opened a claim, and returned my lost money from the toll company. This year the process of cashing a check at a counter takes about 20-60min depending on the branch. To top it all off, earlier this month I was informed that they don’t do “cash deposits any more”. No warning at the counter when I asked for it. I even filed a complaint re: cashier didn’t follow directions, and the next week I went in there were disclaimers everywhere, at the teller and atm re: no cash deposits at the teller and get this, even if you deposit cash BOA can hold it for 24 hrs or indefinitely. They literally wrote a disclaimer that says they can hold your money for as long as necessary.

The checks are from a BOA business customer so they should take it up with them rather than the person cashing the check. I tried transferring funds from an online bank and it was rejected. BOA gave zero notice and I waited for nothing. Then I have overdraft resultant of this, there were no overdraft fees on Friday, Saturday I deposit cash at an atm to cover the negative balance, and Monday I receive notifications re: 2x overdraft fees. I’m livid.
I walk into my branch expecting service and I’m put in an empty office and they dial the 1800 number for me and ask me to wait. I waited 20 min and went out and asked how long they expect me to wait. The girl said she’ll “check” and then disappeared. Never to return. We were at 30 min mark when someone finally answered. No one from the branch checked on my progress by the way. 40 min later I finally got my account closed through the call center. This, I could’ve done from work or home or anywhere but a branch office. If you’re not going to give any service, close your offices. I’m talking to you BOA on lake/Colorado (Pasadena CA).

I’ve been a Bank of America member since 2005 and the very newbie sounding staff did nothing but tell me I had to pay.
I had one boss act like a nasty piece of work after going through each discrepancy on my charges. He had zero cares to give and only seemed interested in billing me of my money. I had an Echo Rita today 3 grand added to my debt which was put there by a keystroke from likely one of the embezzling staff. I loved Bank of America for years and had their lowest fixed interest rate credit card 6.24% APR fixed and their now very disrespectful, unprofessional staff did nothing to help. I refuse to pay for their greed. They are skimming the funds off of good bankers.

Yesterday I checked my dad's account, he is retired 68 years old. I noticed he was -$88.00 because of autopay insurance charge and he did not have enough to cover the charge so I later deposit $95.00 to my dad's account to cover the fee and I check today he got charged $35.00 overdraft fee on an SSI retired old man. I call today and explained to the representative and he is telling, "Sorry I cannot do anything about the system is not allowing me to do anything (Excuses)." All I got to say is this bank is a rip off. They only care about taking customers' money and do not care less if you disabled or retired. My advice stay away from this bank and do your research when choosing a new bank.

I had opened a checking account for my son a couple years ago, but because he was a minor I had to be on the account. He is an adult now, but I could not be taken off his account, according to BofA, unless both of us are present. This is impossible, as he now lives out of state. He got his account into the negative, so I went to close it so it wouldn't affect my other accounts, and I would pay the negative balance. I paid the negative balance, and closed the account. But when I got back to work, and I checked my account, they had taken over HALF OF MY SAVINGS. Customer service on the phone was useless. They told me I should have known I would be responsible for "hidden fees".
I ran back up to the bank, the representative I saw earlier, told me the same thing - then lied and said he told me that there may be additional fees that I would be responsible for. I talked with his supervisor. She told me the same thing - that when I signed up years ago, I should have remembered that I may be responsible for hidden fees. They stole my money. They lied. They were negligent in not being forthcoming with the truth. The supervisor had the nerve to tell me, that "she wasn't in the room, so she doesn't know if the representative told me I'd be responsible for nearly $1000 or not." I told her to please use her common sense. Why would I close an account, if I knowingly was aware I would be responsible for $1000 for some hidden fees?! Crooks. And unsympathetic to boot. They didn't even bat an eye. I felt insignificant.

My wife set up an account with Bank of America. She deposited $1000 in the account. We have a joint account with MCU and she has a Chase bank account and this was supposed to be our savings account. About 1 week after setting up the account they sent a letter informing us that they were closing the account. They provided a 1-800 number to learn why. The only thing that they would (very tersely) say is that "It was a business decision". That very same day we learned about BOA questioning the citizenship status of its account holders. I am a citizen from birth and my wife is a legal resident alien for the last 30 years. We are homeowners. We have great credit. There were plenty of products and services they could have sold us. We will never have any future dealings with them.

I am request Bank of America to meet in Orlando and show me the original contract with my signature. Bank America refused to meet me to show me the original contract. Also Bank of America is trying to collect a debt that pass the statues of limitation. Bank of America continue to report false information on my credit. Bank of America claim the account is charge-off. If the account is charge-off, then Bank of America should not be get this allege account as tax write off and still try collect debt at same time. I am a Preferred Rewards Platinum Honors client. This means nothing to my local branch. I went in for a simple notary request. I could not be helped without an appointment. My daughter went in today, Saturday, to have a minor change made to her account. She was told they were too busy, to make an appointment. Earliest available? Next Saturday! I am in the process of leaving BofA due to the minuscule interest on checking and savings, nobody cares. If you want a great banking experience join me at Ally Bank. Great interest rates and a desire to assist... Without a brick and mortar location. My daughter will be leaving BofA on Monday.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but your employee really need to do a better job, the saga continues and this may be the last straw. On Monday 7/30/2018 I went with my 88 year old mother who is walker bound into your Encino branch and met with ABDUL to open up 2 new checking accounts. I explained to him that we needed the check right away because it is the beginning of the month and my mother and I need to pay the bills. He had told us we should receive the checks within 3 business day. I call Abdul yesterday to tell him we have not received the checks and left him a message with RP the branch manager. I did not hear back from Abdul.
I called you 800 number today to find out about the checks and Malia in New Mexico confirmed that the CHECKS WERE NEVER ORDERED. Also yesterday I called your fraud department to have my mothers SS check transfer into the new household account and your rep not only transfer this money out but transfer the entire balance out of the closed account into the new account. HOW COME? This experience has been unbelievable and I am truly sad to say that your institution really needs some TLC because this exercise and experience has been fully pathetic and I am sorry to be a great patron of BofA. Unfortunately you get 5 thumbs down. I now do expect to hear back from maybe the CEO himself to make a humble apology for what is currently taking place, YUK! All of you should be ashamed of yourself for not doing the job that is expected. I look forward hearing back from you!

Bank of America are thieves that steal from the poor. I'm a very poor person, and have less than $1,500 in my bank account at all times because of it. Bank of America charges me a $12 maintenance fee per month because I can't stay above $1,500 a month. I used to have a waived fee years ago because I signed up online. They have since changed their policy, and now they are taking money from me because I am poor and thus making me poorer. What kind of disgusting messed up logic is that? Punishing me for being poor. I'm leaving this corrupt business.

I went to the bank located in Harbor City, CA on 07/27/18 @ 4:45 pm. Right when I entered I saw the long line. About 20 people were in line on a Friday and only two tellers were open. I was greeted by a manager name Juliana. She asked me is there something she can help me with. I told her I'm just here to deposit a check. She then offered me the service through the ATM. I then asked her, "If I deposit this check will it be cleared tomorrow on Saturday." The reason why I asked this question is because I had to pay rent by the next day. She then asked me a couple of questions such as "How long has your account been opened? Have you been overdrawn before?" My answer was, "I'm a returning customer and it's only been opened not even a month." She then told me, "Oh then no. The check won't clear." But then after looking at my check she said, "Oh it's a Bank of America check, it would be clear tomorrow."
So seeing that line and I had an appointment in half an hour, I thought that's a great service. I went through an ATM and deposited my check. My receipt says it would be available to you on Saturday, July 28. Today, I logged into my account and my check is only hold till July 31, 2018. I contacted customer service and they told me I was misinformed and that there's nothing they can do to override the mistake.
I was very upset because now I have to pay $150 late fee for my rent because I trusted an EMPLOYEE BANKER to provide me the correct information. The person who told me to deposit it through an ATM was the MANAGER of the Bank. How inconvenient is that for me? I trusted her to provide me the correct information. The bank will definitely not reimburse me the late fee nor provide me anything for their mistake. I was following directions, and what I get out of it is me being screwed and waiting for my check to clear in 5 days. Out of all people, THE MANAGER should know to provide the correct information to their bank customer.

I have been trying for several days to reach a LIVE person in customer service at Bank of America. I do not have an account and was trying to open one for my daughter who is about to leave for college. After numerous attempts I made the trip to the nearest branch (there is not one in our town). The girl at the branch was not at all helpful and when I asked for a corporate number she said she did not have one. (How can that possibly be true?)
When I found the corporate office number online and tried to call it, it is an automated system that requires an account number or "phone access number" Or your SS #, but since I don't currently have an account, when I entered my SS #, it said "account not found" and hung up. Very very frustrating. I have tried and tried to do business with this company only to have them come up short again and again. Unfortunately, the business that they do business with are also suffering because of their lack of service.

So I deposited a money order for $880 and Bank of America held it for a few days, which is what banks do. They ended up closing my account instead and that money was for my rent. They said it couldn't be verified and said it was counterfeit and to bring proof to a branch. I went to the branch and showed all proof, MoneyGram even said they can verify with them. On July 18th the manager said they'd contact me in 3-5 business days. Time has been up and I have since been evicted. I slayed my ** off for that $880. I've called and dealt with the rude workers in the account closing department and they keep giving me the runaround. This is frustrating. This isn't fair, I will never in my life trust banks again. They take your money that you worked your ** off for and I keep trying to fight this thing and nothing is happening.

I've been a BofA customer for almost 25 years. My recent financial transaction with them was the most awful experience of my life. I've purchased, sold, short-sold and re-financed property in the past and this re-finance with Bank of America was beyond horrible. Almost every aspect of the transaction was broken. If you need a mortgage please look elsewhere first. As soon as makes financial sense I will re-finance again just for the peace of mind knowing I will not be giving them one more penny of my money.

My husband and me just got married this past weekend. We deposited our checks and they are holding a bank check till August 1st when they said we could have cashed it and had the funds right away vs waiting for the deposit to clear. This was the last straw so we are leaving the bank with our families... Bank of America lost a lot of money and we have had nothing but troubles with them not keeping track of accounts. We have had several incidents where Money was overdrafted due to processing then fixed and having to fight them for their automated crap. Due to them not giving money on direct deposits from Amazon for a day or so we would wind up missing bills.
They would tell us we could do nothing but wait for them to resolve disputed charges where some reason it was rang up twice for food. We would pay a 5 dollar safe checking fee on my account not my husband's to never have to worry about overdrafts and they would still do overdrafts. We called on multiple days, sat with several physical tellers, managers, and supervisors, and even made them get on a three way merge call with my grandmother's bank for the current check having issues through them which is one of those checks you have to buy with money and is considered cash.
It is very dissatisfying that our honeymoon was cut short due to the bank being unjust and not resolving or being able to verify over the phone when they had all these simple solutions they should have been able to do without their clunky software and locks. We did talk to several other banks who said that they can do that since each bank has its own policies but most banks would have had the money resolved since it's been technically 4 days now. Due to all these issues we decided to pull our money and go to an alternative bank. Our families are doing the same which means they lost way more money then they anticipated.
On a positive note the application process is not bad and I didn't have much issues when I got my gender change with them changing the info and changing account types. They do try to keep you safe and lock accounts for activity that feels different from what they usually see but it's all mostly automated. Sucks when you need to wait an hour for it to unlock again due to the fact that it auto locked from buying from a different store, site, or in a different state than it is usually active. Other than that and easy access to an overly placed ATM everywhere from being such a huge company It really feels not worth it.

If I could give a (0) I would. I’m literally $6.25 overdrafted in my account and they’re charging me (3) $35 fees = $105. I can completely understand (1) fee for the big $6.25 but to be charged (3) is crazy because they like to post transactions late to the account. They’re refusing to adjust and threatening to send me to collections.

Stopped, for the first time, at a brand new Bank of America store in Royersford, PA. Cashed a personal check (for $300); however, when I tried to cash a check for $6.36 made out to my wife -- endorsed by her and countersigned by me -- I was told by the cashier that she'd have to check with her manager before giving me the money. She knew my account balance was $15,000+, but still had to get approval! In a hurry, I directed the teller just to deposit the check; she did so, adding that she wasn't sure where the manager was anyway. Everyone I've met at the two BofA that I have visited is pleasant. But they all seem hamstrung by depersonalized regulations. And a couple seem scared to death that they're going to get fired if they make a move that may upset corporate.

I opened a new account against the advice of a friend and my Human Resource Director. I thought how bad could it be. Well due to fact that I switching from one bank to another for personal reasons there is a live check in between my direct deposits. I deposited my live check into the ATM today only to be told that there would be a 7 day hold on my funds. This was my entire check with bills to be paid. There was no way of knowing that they would hold the entire check so I called and went inside to try speak to someone only to be told by several different people "I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do". I tried to tell them that if I would of had some kind of warning that I never would have made the deposit nor would I have opened an account with them if I had I read their reviews first.
Now I can't get my check back nor any kind of release on any of my funds until 7 days. How could I have been so stupid to not take the advice of two people before opening this account. I have posted this information about this bank all over my work place and even called my corporate office to advise them of this so that none of my coworkers will have to deal with this awful so cold-hearted experience.
