    One of the most HIDEOUS companies I've ever dealt with. They put all their effort into support ONLY if you're still putting money in. They've been hounding me over something they messed up on for years (I went to cancel my card and they put me on 40+ min hold) and so they left the account open and have been charging me "dreaming" I'm going to someday pay them for being lazy.... riiiight. So I finally go back to deal with this situation and there's NO way to deal with it because their idiotic automated system isn't set up to support you UNLESS you're running more money through them. Getting actual issues cleared out doesn't have a "number" on the list of options.

    First they ask for your social....then you're stuck. Because they want the number for a card I haven't used in YEARS so I have no CLUE what the number is..... and that's the end of the experience because there's no other options. So, no support, no resolution. I finally just blocked them on my email to deal with them. Nuff said?

    This card is the option to receive your tax refunds. I've used it before on previous years. This year has been nothing but "lost" card that wasn't mailed and everything being declined. I just want my money. Them They haven't proven to be trustworthy and reading these comments, I'm nervous. This is ridiculous.

    I had my Serve card in my possession. I Got a notification that I had $259 in my account. I was scammed out of $3,500. I was not alerted. I called Serve about the account. I had to fill out paperwork for a fraud dispute. I finally got a response, they declined to put my money back in my account saying that they believed that I gave permission for someone to withdraw the funds. I did not give permission for anyone to withdraw funds. I had my card in my possession at the at that time they gave me the address where the money was being taken out.

    It was at a card less cash machine about 10 miles from where I live. I don't understand it. I do believe it was probably scammers, but for them to deny my money!!! I don't even believe they did a thourgh investigation. I cannot, I could not understand but only about 50% of what the representatives were saying I asked for certain departments emails addresses and it was always, "Let me transfer you, we don't have a phone number, you need to write." I mailed a certified letter to them 10 days ago, as of today no response.

    Updated on 05/04/2024: After writing my 1st review about American Express keeping my money they must of seen my review because they sent me a new card hoping I'd activate it. No. It has nothing to do with the 2000.20.18 they're keeping. The card has 0 balance. Nice trick after a yr but I want the card with my money you're trying to cheat me out of. The last thing I'd do is still use your card. All I want is the 2000.20.18 you kept of mine only. Cheating people out of their money seems the way you do business is wrong. Give us our money and shut your card down.

    Original Review: I've been dealing with American Express Serve for over a yr now to get my money off my card 2000.20.18. Because I no longer have the phone or email anymore they tell me there's nothing I can do so they just keep people's money. I've given all the other info they ask but because I no longer have the phone or email there's nothing they can do. Is this how they do business. Don't use them. Their customer service sucks as well. De aware. They will rip you off the 1st chance they get.

    Do not use this company as your prepaid debit card provider. Scammers and thieves. They charge a $1 every time you swipe your card and just recently I did a transfer from Cash App to the Serve card and now they have basically kept the money and never credited my balance. They are saying a 90 day dispute review process. Horrible service, so called managers are horrible, I repeat. Do not use this card. I have screenshots if you need receipts and don’t mind sharing. Plain as day says on my screenshot cash added but they never credited my balance and kept the money. Crooks!!

    Worst card I have ever used!!! Declines purchases and puts hold on every declined purchase for 10 days. Can not link it to any other apps. Horrible and yes I have already changed my direct deposit but am still waiting for holds to be released on denied transactions.

    I bought this card for my son to use, easy putting money on but hard getting to use it . Every where he has tried to use decline, so you call, get no answer to your questions. If you're smart don't give these crooks you're money. I don't know how this is legal, steal your money, can't use this card any where and don't explain why! So don't buy Serve, they will serve you a headache that's it. Seems this would be illegal, I don't know how serve gets away with this.

    Don’t get a Serve card. It’s $7 each ATM withdrawal, $3.50 to use it (if you’re able to find anywhere to use it). It’s not accepted most places and only registers as being a gift card. My bank couldn’t even use it and I’m with Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union. It wasn’t recognized at H.E.B. or Walmart either. Be aware.

    Do not use Serve by Jackson Hewitt. My son ordered something on PlayStation and they suspended my account. Called them because I still have funds on the card and I have to mail a letter requesting they mail me a check. So now it’s been over a month and I still have not received my check. This place is a scam.

    My nightmare began Feb. 29, 2024, when I called 888-891-6098, a number I found through Google, reportedly a reservation number for Enterprise rentals. A very pleasant lady with a very thick foreign accent answered and I told her I wanted to know a price to rent a minivan for a weekend rental. She gave me the weekend special price of $450 to rent the van and said there would also be a $300 fully refundable deposit. I made the reservation for the weekend of March 8, and she said someone from the confirmation department would call me back in about 5 minutes.

    And, indeed, in about 5 minutes, Sam (who also had a heavy foreign accent) called. Sam asked how I would be paying. “Debit card,” I answered. He said, unfortunately, they could not take debit cards, only major credit cards. I told him I don’t have a major credit card and he said, he would hate for me to miss out on this chance, and with spring break coming the vans would be in short supply, but that he could hold the reservation until 4 p.m. I could buy 2 American Express cards at CVS or Walgreens and I would have to buy 2 ($500 on one and $250 on the second). So (dumb me) I took my lunch break, withdrew $750 in cash at my bank and went and bought the cards at Walgreens.

    Oddly enough, Sam knew when I had purchased the cards, and called me again to “finalize” the reservation. He asked for the card numbers, but I suddenly had doubts and I started to backpedal. Sam assured me, that if I gave him the card numbers and the four digits to the right, but not the CVV code he had no way of withdrawing funds from the cards. Then on March 8, when I went to pick up the van, the agent at Enterprise would take the CVV code and my payment would go through. In another 5 minutes, I got an email and though it showed Hertz as the sender there was a legitimate reservation at Enterprise. Too little, too late, I called the San Angelo Enterprise rental center and learned Enterprise does take debit cards, they do not take Serve/American Express prepaid cards, and they never ask for payment prior to a customer picking up the car.

    I immediately called the 1-800-954-0559 number on back of the Serve card and learned both the $500 and $250 cards had been drained. I spent hours that afternoon on hold and trying to talk to a customer service representative. I would talk to one and be transferred to someone else. Every person I talked to had a very thick, heavy foreign accent — the same accent as the so-called Enterprise reservationists. I learned the merchants paid with my cards were Sirfozz Marketing ($500) and Global Keto ($250), neither of which I’d ever heard of. I can’t find Global Keto on the Internet, but I found Sirfozz Marketing and there are multiple reviews of it being a scam company.

    I begged the customer service reps I talked to to stop and reverse my transactions, but was told repeatedly they could not. Several people did assure me the money would be returned to my cards within 8 calendar days. Every person I talked to told me something different, and when I would call back, there was no record of my having called previously, even though at the beginning of each call I was warned the calls were recorded. On the eighth day, I was instructed I could file a dispute by emailing my name, phone #, account (card) #’s, and a narrative of what had happened to servebluedisputes@incomm.com. I did just that and the email was returned as “undeliverable” and a warning that the receiver had an unsecured address.

    I called the 1-800-954-4559 again and was eventually transferred to the fraud/account protection department. After a detailed conversation about what happened, I was emailed forms to fill out, and while I was told their investigation would take up to 45 days. It didn’t. Within 3 days I received emails saying my dispute was declined. I believe there is a working partnership between the personnel at Serve, the fake reservationists for Enterprise, and the merchants who were paid my money. Throughout this ordeal, I have talked to approximately a dozen people. Every call seems like it’s received at a call center because there are a lot of background conversations going on. Every person I have spoken to has a heavy foreign accent, and it seems to me the speakers are from the same foreign country. In one conversation I was asked where San Angelo is. I told him and asked where he was calling from. “I cannot tell you for security purposes,” he said.

    They are trying to scam me out if $1,003.50. They said I received my funds from a ATM when I did not! I went to the bank I tried to get it from, they said it was reversed back to my card and even gave me a letter! This happened on 2/19/2024 and every time I call Serve, they just give me the run around! I’m about to contact an attorney and whoever else I can to expose this!

    I've been diligently reaching out to several Serve representatives regarding the issue of not receiving my card and consequently lacking access to my funds for over a month now. Despite repeated attempts to address the matter, each time I contact them, they say that a new card will be sent out or that I simply need to wait for it to arrive in the mail. However, it NEVER comes!!! This ongoing situation has left me feeling incredibly frustrated and concerned as I currently have no access to any of my funds whatsoever in over a month. I’m looking for a swift resolution to this matter as it's causing significant distress and inconvenience for my family!

    I had the worst experience with customer service I was scammed out of a 1055.00. I called customer service to have the transaction disputed And After two weeks of their investigating I was denied. No follow-up. I had to keep calling them. Was getting the runaround each time. Their dumb customer service, Majority of them can't speak, English. Had a hard time understanding me and I had a hard time understanding them Because of the language barrier. It was a horrible experience. It was so stressful. I was crying I was so frustrated that I closed my Serve account. I had my account with Serve for many years. Never again. I decided From now on, have my federal refund deposited into my Chime account. I like Chime better. I recommend Chime Our Cash App either one is good. I have both.

    I have had this since 2012, and the only once I have had a serious problem with that was a few years ago. Yes since 2012..I don't understand why other people are having major problems with their cards. I use this card for all purchases as well.. The only thing is that you cannot use the card overseas.. and I was fine with that.

    I purchased a card today, put 150.00, was unable to register account for some reason. I was told card was active and I could use balance online or in store purchases. I attempted 4 different payments. I was unable to pay DMV to get my license re-instated and was unable to complete so upset I don't have anymore money so thanks to Serve. I have to keep driving on suspended license and that is a shame. I would not recommend this card, stay away. I called customer service. I was told I had to wait 3 hours after purchasing for card to work so I'm waiting 1 more hour. I am sure that it will still decline, either way, Serve is a total scam. They steal your money, you been warned!!!

    DO NOT USE THIS CARD! I've had it for a few years because my taxes usually go onto it but it won't be anymore. I had a transaction for $1,469.80 decline through the vendor. 6 days later my money is still on hold with Serve and all their stupid customer service people wanna say is that it can take another 2 days or another 24 days! I have a 3 month old that I have things to buy for. I can't just not have my money. Absolutely rude too. I absolutely recommend that you use CashApp, PayPal, Chime or pretty much any other card or service because Serve is an absolute scam.

    Don’t bother thinking this is a solution. I purchased this card and was not able to use it to make an Apple Pay purchase. The card consistently declined so I purchased another prepaid card from another company and was able to make My purchase just fine. I requested that the $9.95 monthly fee be REFUNDED IN FULL. That was the ONLY transaction that was able to be made and not what I purchased the card for at all. Use CashApp, PayPal, Green Dot or ANY OTHER prepaid card. DO NOT USE THIS CARD. The hassle dealing with rude, unhelpful customer service and monthly charge can be avoided by using companies that VALUE AMERICANS’ business and provide the promised services.

    I made a purchase on January 4th for $738.54. The first attempt I accidentally put in the wrong zip code. The second attempt went through fine. Imagine my surprise when I logged into my account and seen I was missing about $1700 when it should have only been $738. The first red flag was that there were two holds of $849.32 when my total was actually $738. Carnival Cruise Lines couldn’t explain why there would be an extra $100 charge. I call AMEX SERVE and they can’t explain the added charge hold either. They said give it 3-8 days. On January 8th I was refunded approx. $100 and it showed the transaction to Carnival completed. However, the other hold was still pending. I let it go until yesterday, January 10th. I called AMEX SERVE again because I found it odd that both transaction were done basically back to back, but only one went through with a credit back to my account.

    Serve told me it can take 8-30 days. I was so upset because originally it was 3-8 and now I’m being told 8-30 days. $849 is way too much money to just be holding and customer service sucks. Both times I was told that Carnival had to release the funds, but Carnival gave me confirmation that the funds have been released so that it was on my bank. Technically I have one more day until the 8 days, but I’m not getting my hopes up. I was depending on that money to get me through the rest of the month but it looks like I may not even get it until next month. I only use this card for my taxes BUT I’ll never, ever use this card & company again.

    American Express Serve card are thieves & liars. I have had my 1st serve card working for a while then all suddenly. They locked me out. Took my remaining $400 dollars which was the inheritance from my mom's death. Tried to get a new card, add money. Only to be rejected 30 times!! Tried even the Visa one too, same problem. The people who answers are scammers, the same 2 people with bad accents. I'm hard of hearing and they still talked fast & intelligibly. They were rude and had no issues to help. Same thing try and later, another day. Then the newest one try another relative. Really stupid. They are making life unbearable for me. Being disabled and not able to have a card to get my needs. They are pure evil. Scams, starting to think it foreigners trying to steal from **. They have to be a couple doing it, same voices and same excuses. Hope that they get caught!! I'll never trust them again. Dropped dead lovers!!

    Recently they locked my account for the reason they think I am deceased. When I called they told me to fax certain items to prove I was alive. I did so. Then they unlocked my account at like 6:30 am, by 9 am they locked it again, when I called they said it was because I was deceased and I had to fax certain items to prove I was alive. So I did. They then in turn email me saying I had to fax even more items to prove I am alive.. Sounds like they want the $122.00 in the account more than I do. Hope it helps them out.

    It doesn't matter what time of any day I call customer service. I always am connected to a customer service representative who speaks very bad broken English to the point of not understanding what they are saying to me and I have to repeat myself over and over because they can't understand me. I have tried to be patient and tried to be cordial but I get so frustrated I end up hanging up without my question being answered without the issue being resolved. I've been with American Express Serve for over 7 years. Now it's to the point where I seriously am considering closing my account.

    Customer service is horrible. Can't understand the lady on phone and when I asked for a supervisor she basically told me no and kept trying to hang up on me. Explain to her I haven't been able to log in to my account in 2 months and she told me to hang up and try again later. Wouldn't try and help me do forgot username and password..She wouldn't give me her name to notate the info she was giving me to escalate to someone higher. Kept putting me on hold for no reason to try and end call while I asking for a supervisor but won't connect me to one. I've been on this phone for an hour and still no help from your customer service..This is unacceptable. I don't recommend this card to anyone. Do not get it. You can go somewhere else to get a card. I suggest that customer service is awful. Been like this for 2 years.

    I've been using an account with "Serve" for 5 years. Some have complained about the fees this company charges. As most use this for small dollar amounts, you have to allow for fees. As long as there is direct deposit on a regular basis, this account is excellent for online shopping (to protect your other bank accounts). Customer service gets 3 stars, but that's better than 1 or 2. I appreciate this company and its service very much!

    Let's start with I loaded the least amount you can load and that was 20$. I only got to use 5.50 of it. Total scammers. The 1.50 activation is just to suckered you in so they can really screw you. And you can't ever get through to talk to a real person. What a joke.

    A hotel released the funds on hold after checkout. Serve will not release the hold on funds for 30 days regardless of confirmation from the hotel. Customer Service is zero help. They just read a script.

    Limited atm access. Most atm impose their own limit of less than 500. So then there is a 24 hour limit for another withdrawal and in the meantime you CANNOT ACCESS ANY information from the atm. Invalid transaction. Although there is a contractual obligation for Serve to offer the option to attach a bank account to which you can send an ACH, they have revoked that service and that option no longer exists. All the customer service is provided from out of the country persons. Need your money, forget it, get a day labor job and you will get paid faster.

    American Express Serve will not unlock my card for purchases. Have emailed documents to their compliance dept to prove who I am. The lady that always answering the with accent keeps saying they're still investigating, Because of fraud activity from my job banking system accidently deposited money into peoples accounts and they reversed it and it was quickly fixed and I sent the bank letter to American express serve to let them know it has been resolved, but American express serve still aren't letting get my money out, they holding my money hostage!! This is very illegal, I'm looking into filing legal actions against this company!! I having been calling every day and the same with accent keeps it's under investigation. I WANT MY MONEY THAT BELONGS TO ME. UNLOCK MY ACCOUNT!!

    The ppl all have strong accents. They are very rude as hell. They locked my card then sent a email all around the time I was supposed to be getting my direct deposit to the account then I called the customer service line.     This company will not let me register my card after purchasing this card to pay a bill that needed to be paid asap. They false advertise that I can use this card immediately after purchase. That is a lie. You can not use it immediately you have to register your card and it can be denied and you sitting waiting on this company to allow the register to go through or your money sits in their bank waiting. While I had to pay this bill asap and couldn't. That lead my bill to cancel my service and had to pay double because of having my money on this Serve card to be held from me. I would not recommend this card to anyone ever. I wish I had purchased a NetSpend or a vanilla card for my transaction. I will never use serve ever again. Terrible service and the company lied about access to funds immediately. Do not recommend at all.

    Be extremely careful when using this card as it lacks security. Somebody was able to hack into my account and change email address and request new account, rendering my account obsolete. Fraud department would do nothing because they couldn't verify me with changed email address. After dozens of attempts to work with the fraud department, I had to give up attempts of recovering stolen funds. BEWARE. Customer service and the fraud department is lacking and unprofessional. You will not be able to reach customer service when you need them. Your funds are not secure.

    The unfortunate thing about all of this is people don’t look at the reviews until it’s already too late. This company is a complete fraud and I cannot understand how they have gotten away with stealing thousands of dollars from their cardholders & I also don’t understand why Jackson and Hewitt would continue to issue these cards to their clients.

    On July 11th Someone 9 hours away from me withdrew $3200 from my account without my card or pin number. They allowed someone to do multiple $200 transactions without even flagging the card once. I filed a claim and provided proof of my location the days I was robbed as well as a police report. They tell you they will issue you a credit within 10 days once you fill out their fraud declaration unfortunately they deny your claim on the 10th day saying “The charges are authorized“ to avoid issuing that credit.

    On the bottom of the denial email it says if you want to know what was used in determining to deny your claim to send a letter to them and they’ll give it to you. I did and got a response saying they didn’t have any information to provide as to why they denied my claim and that this happens when the charges were authorized WHICH THEY WERE NOT. Basically they didn’t do an investigation and have nothing to show as to why they made their determination other than “because they can” without consequence. If someone went to an ATM why won’t they look at the footage to see who did it? That’s proof right there right?

    At this point I don’t even believe any of that happened and they just tell you it did because the cardholder has no way to prove otherwise. That’s why card companies have an investigation department who would be better equipped to figure out what actually happened but this company couldn’t care less what happens or figuring out why this keeps happening as to avoid it happening again to others.

    But again we don’t look up these reviews until it’s already too late so I’m not sure if this will actually help others or just adding insult to someone else injury helping them understand this was no mistake & that they were actually scammed out of their money. I’ve seen so many reviews stating the same thing happened to them, some as far back as 2016 & again my main question is how or WHY has this company been allowed to swindle thousands of dollars from their cardholders for all these years with nothing being done about it? You can contact the BBB and other places but this company learned how to go around any type of accountability. I’m not stopping until I get some real answers because this isn’t right at all.

    Received a gift card as a present. Activated the card, upon activation, the card had a $50 balance. With disappointment, I tried to make a purchase and each time the card will lose money on the balance. Or it would say invalid transaction. I was never able to use the card. American Express you ought to be ashamed of yourself. I received the gift that didn't give. Shame on you American Express. :(

    I was charged fraudulently for a MCAFEE by a company RADH computer protection and used my American Express Serve card. I was told I needed to install McAfee protection for $269. I was given 2 telephone numbers to call if I needed to follow up both those numbers. Turned out to be false and the service they charged me for were bogus. I brought this to the attention of Serve and showed them that I had to pay a second company that was legitimate the very next day. The fraud was obvious. After numerous emails and documentation Serve did NOT accept the claim. AMEX Serve does not have their customers' backs. They are less than useless.

    I have been using American Express Serve for about five years. This was the first time ever that I needed to transfer money into my Checking Account due to me placing money on the card and not knowing that the vendor that I needed to pay did not accept American Express cards. Being I was not able to make it to the bank. I did an ACH Transfer on July 11th, I have made several calls about my $220.00 that this "THIEVING & LYING" Company has robbed. They keep you on the phone for almost an hour transferring you from one department to the other with nothing in sight. They promise to open a case, but nothing happens. These people that they have working there are clearly stealing the ACH Money Transactions. I work hard for my money. I will no longer be using this company and I would advise anyone who is thinking about using them to not do so because they will rob your money and nothing for it. They are a bunch of Thieves.

    The card would not work. I could not add money and it would not link with my Venmo account. Total waste of time and money. When I called customer service it took many, many calls to get to a live person. They would not help so I cancelled the card. Awful experience. Save yourself the money and trouble and go somewhere else.

    They will deny you access to your own money due to their mistakes. They don't care if you have bills to pay and they are to you when you calling to customer service. I wish I never even considered using their card and I will never deal with this company again. No one should.     This card is the worst ever. They lie, they steal and they say the same thing over and over. I have filed disputes. It’s all lie. They will not give you your money back. I’m still trying. These people are real crooks. Please just give me back my 1200.00 please. I’ve been fighting with these people since February of this year. I’m not locked out of my own account and no one will tell me a damn thing.. Write a letter I was told and I’ll get answers. Yeah right. There was 3 separate holds for the damn same company.     If I could rate -100 I would. They don't even deserve half a star. Their customer support sucks. They say the same thing over and over. That they cannot help. I was given this card that cannot be reloaded by my son to help with my medication. Apparently it is activated at the register when it's purchased. It was a $100 gift card. Upon activation at the register 50 was taken as a activation fee then I was told to register it online to make it work which was denied but Another 50 taken for a registration fee. Then another 50 for a monthly service fee on a unloadable gift card. So now they expect me to pay them 50 dollars on something that was suppose to be a gift to me.

    If you google this they have been sued multiple times. ConsumerAffairs and Better Business Bureau all have nothing but bad to say about Serve which is owned and operated by China. When I called the real American Express where I have an actual account they informed me at the end of their contract with serve they will not be renewing it due to their fraudulent actions. Please do not buy or use any card that says serve on it. You will lose all your money then they tell you you owe them. Major scam.

    Went to Walgreens this morning and made two transactions to load my card. I had to load $500 and 200 coz there's a limit. I loaded my car coz I have two showers I need to pay for and I use this card because I couldn't load my other card for some reason. For some reason the money didn't it post instantly. So they're telling me it could take up to an hour. An hour came and went nothing. So I called Serve and they tell me that they can't see that it's nothing's been posted. So I'll call Walgreens and they tell me that it's not their deal, it serve's deal. Then I call and tell them I want to make it a dispute they hang up on me. Then I call again and tell him I want to make it a dispute and talk to another guy and then finally he gives me an email address to make the dispute and send my receipts in.

    I write an email with all my user information and the pictures of my receipts. I send them in and I get no response no acknowledgment. I don't see how if Walgreens can take my money that they can't refund my money. How is this all on a card when you go to a company and put money on a card if that money don't make it to the card why is it on the card. Shouldn't Walgreens have a responsibility in this also

    I had not used my American Express Serve card in some months and when I started my direct deposit back the company immediately took my money. They said I did not follow rule 15 and I looked it up and they told me they could not discuss my claim until the fraud department finish their investigation. It’s almost been a month. This company is a rip off and I would never ever get a prepaid card with them or no one else for that note.

    We have had American Express Serve card for 3 years and no issue, However this year we received our federal tax refund on February 15 then on the 18 the of February all of our money was stolen off the card. We hadn't used the card in a year as soon as the $1,874. Was loaded they started stealing it. I called in several times and reported it to their fraud division. Was on the phone for over 3 hours. Today is February 28th and my they of course sent me a email saying my claim was denied, so $1,874.is gone. Do not use for your taxes. Jackson Hewitt is involved with these cards. Their names are on them.

    If I could spit on these people I would. That's how angry I am. They are straight up thieves.... Soon as my tax refund hit my account they automatically started stealing from me. Few dollars here. Few cents there until they depleted my account into the negative!!!! The whole damn refund. Now I'm left with nothing. I had over 274 disputes on my account!!!! How the hell does that happen without the card being flagged???? It's a inside job and I will never use them or Jackson hewitt again. Do not trust these overseas crooks.

    This is the worst prepaid card you could get. They provide 0 fraud protection, anyone can steal your money and they will do nothing about it, they lie and say they will investigate and never do, they decline your dispute within 24 hours of submitting without even looking into it. They also have no explanation unless you write them and mail it in which they do to deter people from following up on their claims, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER. Mind you I was a customer for 15 years.

    I went to a Walgreen store to reload my card. Went through the process also paying with cash waiting for funds to reload onto my card, however it never reloaded to my card. Customer service said, "Go back to the store" however Walgreen said they had nothing to do with it. So I call A.E Serve again. Now they tell me 14 days to investigate. I need my money.     I have been using Amex Serve for almost 10 years. I have repeatedly ignored people's rants about losing money that never gets returned for about 10 years as well, but I never had an issue. on 12/23/22 I stayed at a hotel for 2 nights and the total was approx $175. There was 2 holds placed on my account on that date totaling $200 which more than covered the cost of the stay. The hotel and I have a good standing relationship and they assured me that they did everything routine as normal. So Amex Serve waits until 12/27 at 1 AM to overdraft my account and process the $175 as a separate transaction leaving me with -$71 , which isnt even supposed to happen because it's prepaid. So that took the money I had given my dad for Christmas from his subaccount and they deleted one of the $99 holds all together. It has just vanished and then they wanna give me the business about the other saying to contact the hotel.

    That money was my living money for the month. I'm on SSI. They don't care. I missed my dentist appointment today because I don't have the gas and my outlaw biker brother doing life in Walla Walla is expecting a package and now he's burnt. Don't trust these fools. Look at it like this: they don't care enough to fix a problem should one arise, and one will eventually. Learn from this and cancel this before you end up in the same position.

    Amex Serve is a terrible company and all they do is lie to customers. My issue started when I had 2 charges that were an error that I had to dispute. I filed the dispute. Uploaded the signed dispute forms and receipts. Next on the 8th business day they send an email stating they needed more time to investigate. They issued no credit. I called because the cardholder agreement clearly said that if there's a dispute due to an error and they needed more than 10 business days that "We will credit the amount you believe is in error while we complete the investigation." However they failed to do so. When I spoke to a suppose manager in the disputes dept she just kept reading a script off her computer and said no credit will be issued.

    When I told her what the cardholder agreement said she basically called me a liar and just read the script again. So stay away from this company. I have filed complaints with the government agencies that is over the compliance of American express travel related services. Just avoid this company. They lie, treat you bad and don't even follow their own rules they wrote. But expect you to follow all their rules. Terrible.

    I recently purchased and loaded this card at Walmart. No problems with the first few transactions. Then I went to order pizza and the purchase was declined (my error as I entered the wrong zip code) however a hold was still put on the card for the amount of my order, $110.93. I called customer service and was told the hold would be lifted in 5-8 business days which is ridiculous - why is there a hold when invalid information was entered in the first place? The rep also suggested I register the card in case I need to dispute any charges - ok, makes sense.

    I still need food so I place my order again, this time entering the correct zip code, order goes thru no problem, delivery received, all is fine with the world. I attempt to register my card and am repeatedly denied. Call CS back and was told I must be entering something wrong to which I responded that is doubtful since the information I was registering with is the same information entered on the phone to get my balance and customer service, then she says register from a computer and not a phone, still denied.

    Days later I check my balance again and the hold and has now POSTED as a completed transaction and AMEX is refusing to review and correct it. This is **! I have called the merchant and am disputing it with them but it doesn't look promising so for now I'm out $200 for ** pizza and am just supposed to suck it up??? I don't think so! These cards are TRASH and so is American Express as a company. Transactions like this and registration denials are a reoccurring issue with these cards and something needs to be done to shut them tf down. If neither the pizza merchant nor AMEX doesn't correct this asap I will be pursuing legal action.

    I got the Serve American Express prepaid debit card to save me a little money in bank fees for when I need to pull money out from Thailand. But it will not let me on the computer website or the app site since I am here. I called them and they said I can do everything by phone. Also I think the call center's from another country. When she was talking to me I can hear chickens in the background. That takes such a long time that this is a terrible card to use if you cannot get on to their website and check things out and transfer money. It is useless to me 'cause it will take so much time to always call them and do things. They should have a secure website to go to. It must show that they could be a cheap company and don't have good firewalls. I will be pulling my money out and cancelling my cards. Please read other reviews on other websites. This is not the card to use in my opinion. I usually read reviews. One time I didn't and this is what I've had to go through. Read reviews please.

    I went on vacation and used the card. The hotel and rental car put holds on my card. But when I checked out and returned the car both places told me the hold would be only 15 days. Now they tell me it's 30 days. That is totally ridiculous. I need my money now.

    Was away from home. In the evening needed to pay a bill promptly. Only had cash on me, picked this card up because it said no activation needed, use immediately. Not only did you need to activate and register you need to add all your personal info, SSN, DOB, etc. It took 4 hours w/ customer service to activate because their system was wonky then they couldn’t activate it for another 3 hours for “full authorization.” Absolutely absurd, strange, scammy experience.

    Do not get a Serve card! I did my taxes. TaxAct deposited my refund on the serve card. They sent me a temp card. Wanted me to register it online. I did that. I called the automated system kept telling me to register online. So I ordered another card since that one wasn't working. I even pain 30 more dollars to have it delivered thru FedEx, FedEx delivered it to the wrong address smh. Called back to get yet another card issued. She sends me a link which I filled out. 2 months later I'm still waiting on that card. Customer service is null and void. I finally had to file a complaint. Don't get this card.

    I requested a refund. Was told it was take 3-5 business days. 5th day I call Serve because I see it says completed and I see it's been put on hold. They tell me it's on a merchant's hold and they can hold it for 7 calendar days. I call the merchant. They say that's **. They don't have it on hold. Everything was completed. Even gave me a transaction number to lookup and verify it... I call Serve back. Try to give them the transaction number. They refuse it and they tell me they're sorry, nothing they can do, all I can do is wait, that they are not keeping my money from me the merchant is.... Bull. The merchant was trying to help. Even have been emailing me numbers to call with Federal Reserve Board etc.. To help me get my money.... Serve is a scam and they make up their own policies to fit them.

    They've been holding my money since May of last year (2021). Refuse to tell me why. So I reached out to the federal reserve board, BBB, CFBP to file a complaint. and when I called SERVE today they told me they transferred my account to consumer relations. So I think everyone should continue to file complaints to get your money as well as STAND up to AMEX SERVE and their scams.

    PLEASE do NOT go through the trouble of going with SERVE card. I cannot understand why AMEX would have their name on this card. It first started when we needed to use a decent amount for our down payment on a vehicle. They would not authorize the transaction and you could not speak to ANYONE! Now just recently we had a 1500 return that was done on the 13th of April...and processed on the 15th. WE called every single day and told multiple different things... "Your money will be available at 3:43 am". Then if they didn't like how frustrated you were they hung up on you. WE finally received our return on April 26th!! DO NOT USE THIS CARD. I know everyone wants an advance on their refund, BUT it is NOT worth the hassle and headache!!

    I loaded my tax refund into their prepaid card from Jackson Hewitt and tried to transfer some of the money to my main bank account. And I wait 4 to 5 business days and the money never went to my account. And I did verify the test deposits before I completed this transfer. These people are crooks. I'm not sure what scam operation they're running. I called customer service and it's very strange people answering the phones. They don't care if they speak English very well. They said the money was put back on my card but I check my account and everything the money still wasn't there. And I looked at their transaction statement it doesn't show any transfer transaction or credit back to me. So I decided to put it in writing here. It is a month later and I still haven't heard anything back from them.

    What was initially just a suspicion has recently been verified again and again. This company deducts small amounts from the accounts associated with these cards so that your balance always go down in a virtually unnoticeable way. 83 cents here or a dollar or so there. The way in which your online account profile is set up makes it hard to spot - i.e. - you cannot see more than the last four to five transactions at once. I will never use Jackson and Hewitt again because they've associated themselves and their products with such a fraudulent card. I expect that they'll have a class action lawsuit some time in the future. If you are holding money on a Serve card, DO NOT. Transfer it to a legitimate bank account instead. They are thieves.

    If I could give them a negative 5 stars I would...If I had only read the reviews before agreeing to have my income tax return sent to this card... EVERYTHING that customers have in previous reviews are NOT an exaggeration...     This company by far has been the worst I have ever had to deal with ever in my whole life! I'm at the point of a nervous breakdown. Every day I hang up the phone with them I am in tears because not only have they not done anything but I am given the run around over and over. Meanwhile I can't get my money and get no help. Speaking to them is like as if I'm speaking to a dumb AI or someone who gives no effort or care to even do their job or help at all and like they are just reading a damn script!

    I think we meaning all the people here and everywhere that this company has put us through all this emotional distress and mistreatment should all get together and get an attorney and file a lawsuit for the pain and suffering this company has done and put us all through.     Had no issues with this card until first time depositing payroll. The deposit was never added to my available balance. Broken English representative told me it may take 2-3 pay cycles to post. NEVER in my life have I heard something so asinine. Company payroll reversed the deposit and Serve double subtracted the amount leaving an insane negative balance and literally stealing the rest of the money I had in the account. Serve reps refuse to reconcile the account accurately and too dumb to understand the issue. Reporting to FTC and assertively going after this sorry excuse of a financial institution for damages.

    I go to Walmart to buy the serve prepaid card for 200.00 just to find out the 2 cards I bought had a 0 balance on each. No possible way to reach customer service. Go back to Walmart in greenwood South Carolina where I purchased these 2 cards. I was told there is nothing can be done about this. Said sorry you lost your 200.00. I will reach out to Walmart since they carry a brand with no active solution for my problem and after reading several reviews from people with the same issue something seems wrong that Walmart seems to consider keeping this card which in my opinion let's let Serve steal from our customers

    I was on my vacation with my 4 year old daughter. Was left stranded sleeping at rest areas because of this card. Customer service keeps hanging up after waiting on hold for literally hours. They put a hold on my card for no reason. Then won't remove it. Want to send me a new card via mail and charge me $20 meanwhile I'm not home. Won't let me transfer funds out of my account. These people should be sued. I'm now home after a 5 day worst trip of my life. Just tried to take my daughter to Legoland.

    Now I still can't get in touch with anyone to unlock my card or even send a new one. They put you on hold for over an hour then hang up. This has been going on for 5 full days! These people are evil someone should help! I should be able to sue them. They've taken thousands of dollars of pills money while most people are already short of money and they are hanging up on people..refusing to make it right. Shame on you American Express. You should be ashamed of yourselves

    Good morning, I currently have an account American Express Serve account. I have had Terrible experience for the past couple of days. My first Experience was 2/19 when I realized that I had two accounts with your company instead of one and my funds were deposited into the account with no card. I asked about expedited shipping and was told that was not an option. I then realized there was a virtual temporary card on my account the next day on 2/20 and called with questions on how to use the card. No one was able to help and I figured out on my own. That night I tried to pay my rent and the transaction was declined on 2/21.

    I spoke with three representatives that all gave me different information. On the first call I was told my limit was 1,000 daily and they would send a verification email to help increase my limit that did not work. I called back and was told I had a life time limit of 500. I was confused and asked to speak to a manager. I was transferred, someone answered and disconnected the call. I called back and was told my daily limit was 2,500 a day. I then asked to speak with a manager to confirm. A manager did answer and informed me the daily limit was 500 and restarts every 24 hours.

    On 2/23 I tried to make purchases and they were declined. I am confused because my daily limit is 500. I called in spoke to Zahari and was informed that I had to reach the 500 limit first before the 24 hours restarted. I asked to speak to a manager to file a complaint. Zahari stated she would check something else and put me hold. After a few minutes the call ended. I called back and got zahari again and told her I wanted to file a complaint. I was transferred to a supervisor and explained my situation. She stated she would contact tech support to see what they can do about limit. Next thing I know the call was transferred and he informed that the 500 is a lifetime limit. I asked to be transferred back to the complaint line and he stated he was unable to. I then I asked for his name again and he declined.

    This is the absolute worse experience I have ever had. Had I been informed correctly the first time I would have made different decisions. I have a payment due, a brithday party for my eldest son, and I need diapers for my poop youngest child. I now have wait up to 10 business days before I have access to the rest of my funds.

    As soon as your taxes are deposited into your Serve account and you try to use it for anything they block and lock your card. Then when you try to get ahold of customer service you sit on hold for 2 or 3 hours only to be told once someone answers that they have to transfer you to a different department then you're on hold another 2 or 3 hours again only for them to hang up on you!! They are doing this to thousands of customers and you can't get anywhere with them!! I reported them to the Better Business Bureau!! Everyone needs to also report them!!

    This is 1 of the worst cards to get poor customer service. They are not willing to assist in fraudulent activities. When a credit is sent back to your card expect to wait a week or more to receive your money. Completely unacceptable. If a credit is sent it should be the same as a deposit but it isn't. They hold your money for 7-10 days. I would not recommend this card for any reason. They are quick to take fees but slow at returning money owed to you. I will never use any American Express attached account ever again.

    Do NOT use Serve American Express Card. Was told InComm now owns it. Customer Service seems to blow you off when you try to report fraudulent use, they will not help you to solve anything, even when requested. This card is not for the customer! Do not waste your time or money.

    When you pay bills some places will not accept credit card. This card is supposed to be a debit card but it tells the company you are trying to pay that this card is a credit card. Do not waste your money on this card.

    Had this card for years, but this past year has made me decide to cut up the card! Constantly rejecting my transactions and now I'm short 60.00 because they rejected transactions that never went through but deducted it from my account... Call and hold forever! I get my money back I'm transferring to a different card and will be so happy to finally be done with Serve!

    If you plan to use this card to make repetitious purchases from same vendor don't bother. It will eventually put you on an automatic fraud alert hold where you can't use the card for 30 days. I called customer support and they don't empower their associates to be able to take it off hold.

    I have been this company over 5 yrs as my prepaid card account for my direct deposit and my card has been hacked three times and the most recent one was 7/16/21 over $800 when my deposit posted from my job... I filed a fraud claim again and they are making me wait 10 business days just to see if they will give me a credit and it not can take 45 days to get my money back... and not to mention my replacement card have not got it yet. And here it is payday again today and I cannot access my funds to pay my bills because the new card has not come yet.

    I have called them every other day to check the status on this claim and all they tell me is it's still ongoing etc and no updates. I have talked to sups and they're no help as well tell me the same thing over and over again. I need me money back on my card asap. Please do not deal with this place. It's a major headache. When something happens they do not care about their dedicated customers. Thanks!!! Not to mention I went to BBB AS WELL TO FILE CIVIL COMPLAINT. They are fully aware of all this. I faxed two letters to them. Here it is the 10th business day and I still have no email update nor my money back on my card.

    I have been using American Express Serve Debit card for over 10 years. I am pleased with the ease of use and minimal service fees. However, the customer service is awful and Bill Pay features are not guaranteed. When calling the customer support line I have to listen to 5 minutes of promotional advertising. I used the Bill Pay service recently, which American Express claim takes 5 business days. Two weeks after submitting my payment thru direct bill pay, the payee had not received the payment. Three calls to American Express, I was told American Express cannot verify receipt of payment. I had to submit a second payment by mail and wait another two weeks for American Express to credit my account. The bill pay feature does not work and is not guaranteed.

    Been using serve for 5 years. Within last 40 days a block has been put on my prepaid card for false detection of fraud transactions. I'm always buying and selling items for 4 years now and all of a sudden my card keeps getting blocked. I've had enough of the **. Can't hear or understand most of the customer service people. Their system just sucks and I'm tired of calling it in to have the block lifted.

    Took two weeks to get a company to refund a item then when it hit my Serve account they put another 7 day hold on a REFUND so I have to wait 3 weeks for the money. Serve tried to tell me the money never went to my account but after 30 seconds they did agree the money did go into my hence why I got a credit then right away a hold for the same amount. That's bad business and the only card I have that does this.... No other pre-paid card does this and it's straight up theft of my money.

    Please take note current and future Amex consumers. I wanted to summarize my unfortunate situation where Amex refused to honor one of their Amex credit card products’ welcome offer when the online application successfully went through with offer confirmation from Amex representative at time of application. On top of that, I also received solicited application offer for the same card that was mailed to my physical home addressed to me from Amex at time of application. Since then, I met all requirements by now and only then Amex is telling me that they will not honor the offer.

    Spoke to multiple Amex reps since the complaint where they claimed investigation was done and that decision is final that they would not honor it without valid and detailed explanations despite their mistake and misinformation during my application and failure to explain why only now months later am I told I don’t qualify for it. They went through the recorded phone calls and confirmed/admitted the mistake made by Amex rep and said that they will improve their coaching in future. Amex did not show any remorse and did nothing else to compensate for the mistake they caused that significantly impacted my situation. I was denied a subsequent request for further investigation and escalation.

    My wife purchased 4 cards from Walmart to be used as gift cards. We’ve been trying to use them up because the original intent for them backed out. We recently had a couple of the cards declined for purchases so we figured we missed a receipt. Thinking we could get the balance online or by calling them has become an exercise in futility. We refuse to sign up for an account with Serve because they want our social security numbers and I already don’t trust them. American Express allows you to input the card numbers but when submitted give a message that they are experiencing difficulties and try again later. This is day two of our hunt for answers. The phone number is worse. They only want you to sign up and give them money. At this point we will likely have to nickel and dime these cards to death. I hate Walmart to begin with, this won’t help.

    I enrolled in AMEX's payment plan with my Green Business Card last year around November or December. At the end of January, I attempted to make a payment to pay off my balance completely. According to 2 of the 3 reps I have spoken to this morning, the payment was declined by the bank for insufficient funds. That's not why I'm upset but it has something to do with it.

    Apparently I was taken out of the payment plan because I paid off my balance. This is not true since the money was returned. I should still be in the payment plan right? Not according to the 2 foreign reps. The kicker is that the payments of $59 are still coming out of my bank account!! That $59 was the monthly cost associated with the payment plan! The 3rd rep I spoke to was from the United States and understood my problem perfectly. Unfortunately he was in a different department because I was routed there for some reason. So he connected me to yet another rep. As it stands now, I am on hold again waiting for some sort of answer that makes sense.

    On March 12 2021 my stimulus checks was deposited into my account, on March 18, 2021 a ACH withdrawal was done from my account. I did not initiate this transaction. I have called serve customer service to get answers to no avail. I need someone to contact me to explain what happened to my money. A withdrawal by ACH external bank account was initiated. Please help. I’m at a total loss. There is not an option to speak to a representative when I call. Is there anyone who can help me? Thanks.

    I have a lot of experience with American Express products. I love Amex. But not this card product. This is a list of detailed problems and suggested improvements that should be made to the ‘Serve’ card, including the ‘Serve’ card issued by Jackson Hewitt.

    1. The temporary card received from JH is very limited. When you do your taxes they advertise getting part of your return the same day. If approved your temporary card will be loaded but you will not be able ATM or transfer the funds to your real bank account until you get a permanent card.

    2. It took a month for me to get a permanent card.

    3. The phone number on the back of the temporary card will not take you to a real human, ever.

    4. I collectively spent 40 hours on the phone, my computer and at other JH offices while trying to figure out why I couldn’t get my money off the card. I even had a support agent in another country (while I sat in a JH office) tell me his time was up on the call and he could no longer help me.

    5. After I finally received my permanent card and activated it, I could not figure out how to transfer money into my personal checking account. Because by design they have put the option in the most obscure place possible. You will not find it under any of the money transfer areas on the menu. It is hidden under ‘settings’. You know like where you would find your profile and preferences. Additionally this feature is not offered on the app. So you have to go the online version to find it. The average tech user would never be able to locate this.

    6. Once you find this area you must enter your bank account information and wait up to five days for two small deposits to be verified before it will link your bank account.

    7. Once this is completed you can transfer (withdraw) your money to your bank.

    8. But wait, you can’t have your money just yet. You must wait another 5 days for it to appear in your bank account. During this waiting time you have no access to the money because it’s not on your card and it’s not in your bank account. It’s in La La Land somewhere.

    I’m on my fifth day today and still no money in my bank account. Take time to calculate how long it has taken for me to get my same day refund. I paid $200 to get this service and I still don’t have the cash in my bank. I was approved on January 29th and today is March 18th. The lesson learned here is... Save yourself $200, Do your taxes yourself for free, Then get your money direct deposited into your checking account in two weeks. I hope this helps someone.

    American Express has recently started to place 7 Day holds on all credits from merchants coming in on my card. This is out of a sudden all of nowhere and I've had this card for about 5 to 6 years with never any issues up until recently. I don't believe it's legal that they are allowed to play 7 Day holds on store credits that come in. This is a debit card. Who are they to hold your cash? I am surprised there was not a class action lawsuit against this cuz they are definitely definitely breaking some rules here.

    I've had the Serve card for years & it was good- but now after refusing my tax refund from the IRS I have to wait an extra 10 damn days for my money! Why did they refuse the deposit?! No one knows. This has put me in a very hard spot. Actually screwed me real good. So I warn everyone- get a different card- this one may start out strong- but you'll regret it in the end- like I am now. You can NEVER ever speak to a human either when you do have a problem. It's all automated. What a joke.

    I had used Jackson Hewitt to file my taxes they use American Express Serve which is a temporary card then after that's replaced by permanent card they're suppose to send you but mine has yet to arrive and after 25 calls to them I still have not gotten my card and now I still dont and can't get my 8000.00 out of that account. So fair warning to all dont use American Express Serve cards. They dont care about you or the fact they are holding your money.

    While having my car repaired after being rear ended, I rented a car referenced by Liberty Mutual. I was told that a $50 deposit hold would be placed on my American Express Serve card and released upon return of the car. My American Express Serve card company is holding for 30 days! I'm on a tight budget. Regardless, that is ridiculous!

    I have been getting account statement emails from American Express Serve for a while. To my knowledge I have never had an American Express ever. I have tried calling several times but the entire phone system is automated, there's no option for me to talk to a human to resolve the issue, there's also no email address on their "contact us" page to email them. I don't have a card, account number, or pin to login with since I've never had an account.

    You know you are in trouble when you try to reach someone to talk to... The only way you get to a person is to take 2 rounds of the main menu. Only on the second round of the main menu prompt do you get option 0 to speak with someone. They hide transactions on you too. I withdrew money from Serve back to my bank account and there was no record of the transaction. Did not know anything until 10 days later when the deposit showed up in my bank.

    Fees are ridiculous. Here, let me charge you $6 a month to hold your money. No, don't like that? Then add $500 per month to avoid the fee, or do a direct deposit from your paycheck. Retired? Oh sorry, we will punish you for that, and make you send us $500 a month for the honor of holding your money for you without a few. OMG, people, wake up. It's the 21st century! Avoid this company. This is also a very good indication of where the parent company, AMEX, is headed. My recommendation is to avoid AMEX entirely.

    American Express Serve advertises itself as getting you your money 4 days earlier by having it direct deposited. This is a complete lie. American Express serve gets your direct deposits in and holds them from one to 3 days in order for them to make money off of your deposit for however many days they hold it. They claim they have no record of any deposit being made. Today I have been able to prove that this is a lie. Everyone that received the 600 stimulus received their money not even an hour after it was deposited by the IRS. At this time Amex serve account has not deposited it and is holding it. This is not the only pre paid so called bank that does this. You cannot rely on what these people tell you. As soon as you complain or mention the fact that you know it has been deposited they put your account on some phone loop where no matter how long you wait on hold to get to a rep they never route you to help. Advise you to stay away from this company.

    I received a text from Serve stating my account had a suspicious charge. I called customer service and verified it was not my charge. The stated they would freeze my account and send a new card. They allowed 1700.00 to be drained and I’m certain it was from an employee there.

    I am very dissatisfied with my recent dealings. Customer service is always weak but this is unmatched incompetence. My card was recently skimmed, 643$ was stolen from three transactions at an ATM machine. I filed a claim and responded to the questions I was asked. After three weeks I received notice that Amex was denying my claim. Aside from the fact I was incensed to begin with when the money was stolen, I figured this would be an easy resolution. Unfortunately I was given a generic reason,” we determined the authorization was authorized“, which is incredibly curious and blatantly untrue. I can not get a real person from the fraud department in the phone, only agents in outsourced Korea. Never use atm that are free, that’s my mistake at 7-11 to save the charges, those are the ones susceptible to these thieves. Amex serve sucks, I’m closing my account after 3 years.

    The only benefits to this card is the name and early deposit. These days that carries less value. Especially with several institutions offering early deposit. You will not be able to deposit money at an atm. Which will become an issue more than one will realize. ATM limits will never be able to be changed nor can a temporary higher limit be placed. Customer service is incompetent and inconsistent. You verify yourself through the system and there will always be one * advisor who asks for your life’s story to get access to your account. Everyone else confirms you’re verified through the system. To continue they aren’t confident in the information they provide nor is it accurate in comparison to the system. The system is deeply flawed. ie. Bill pay states it’ll take up to for business days to receive, customer service states it’s seven business days, the system then resets to an upwards of 10+ business days.

    Tracking information is denied for delayed payments. Therefore unsecure and unreliable. You can use the card for Apple Pay in a limited capacity. You can make traditional purchases but unable to pay friends via message for example. When making a traditional purchase, any amount, with Apple Pay server denies the transaction. Every time. Versus it being based on familiar activity. They place an extended hold on any refund credits. No reason given. They charge extra on certain transactions then post the actual amount when it processes. This occurs with retailers who don’t require an additional hold ie Amazon prime orders. Contrary to belief it is not accepted everywhere. There are still one-off places who do not use American Express due to their high charges. After almost five years I’ll closing my account.

    AmEx Serve card. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I got the Serve card and my step-daughter a sub-acct card so I can send her money at school. Had them almost a year. Today, while trying to send her money for her medications, my acct was locked. I called Serve CS, and you know what happens when you call off-shore CS. Five phone calls later I reached the Serve fraud dept and was told there was a "discrepancy" between my acct and my bank's debit card acct information. The CS rep called my bank and conferenced me in. My bank confirmed all of the information Serve asked them to confirm. Then, the Serve card CS rep said he had to do something else, put me on hold and came back a few minutes later. He informed me that he was sorry, but that my acct would not be unlocked. It was "permanently locked (suspended)". When I asked why, after nearly a year of use my acct was suspended, he said he was not allowed to tell me,

    I ended up having to wire my step-daughter the money WU, which cost 6 times the Serve card load fee. And what do I get after nearly a year of of paying their high monthly fee and holding an AmEx card for 20 years? "We apologize for any inconvenience." I cut my Serve and AmEx CC in half and will be sending them to the CEO of AmEx. SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF TROUBLE. STAY AWAY FROM AMEX.

    I have experience great pleasure using American Express Prepaid. My deposits comes two day before on time even if it's a holiday. It has restrictions on some use but for good cause. If you lose your card, you can call customer service and they will have it sent by FedEx the next day without waiting 7-10 days for replacement. If your card is lost or stolen they notify you when you make purchases, or suspected misuse that you don't normally use. Can transfer money immediately from one American Express to another. Can go to Walmart and take all my money off without a fee for every cash withdraw. It gives excellent payback.

    I'm always get cash back on purchases they normally know I use often. I have had this card for 4 years, I get direct deposit. A lot of ATM don't accept this card without a triple fee. I go to US Bank or Walmart to retrieve my money without fees. This is one card I love and I will be using this card for a while, because of its good restrictions. I suggest if you want a prepaid card get American Express Prepaid Card. It's worth it in a long run.

    September 22, 2020 Fraud. Today 09 /22/2020 I did a search on Google (rent a car for a month) and associated with Enterprise appeared this number: +1 877 3620059. I called and answered Willy Enterprise and I requested a quote for a month for two Ford Mustang and he told me that he needs to talk to the Enterprise managers to make me a good price. The cars requested were 2 because there are two of us to request them Italians just moved to the U.S., the same Willy calls us and says that Enterprise can make 400 euros plus 200 total deposit 1200 dollars only if we buy the American Express rechargeable because they had a convention and so we could have a special price.

    We went in search of the Cards and we bought them from Walgreens and at the checkout they asked for the address documents that they entered in the portal (the Cards should not be in our name?). Once we took the cards Enterprise calls us back to get the license and address for insurance and card numbers, once given the data sends us the email of the reservation Enterprise and the 'time of withdrawal at 5 pm today.

    Today at 5 pm the cars were not delivered telling us that the cards did not take the money, we called the American Express number and they told us that the 4 cards were not registered to us but to other people and they did not want to give us the holders, we called the number and they asked us to buy more cards with another 1200 dollars and when we asked why they hung up.

    1)How is this possible and not being protected? 2) How is it possible that American Express puts on the market cards in our name and after a few hours with the physical cards in hand we are no longer the holders? 3) How is it possible that Enterprise allows to circulate e-mails and numbers with their name? 4) How is it possible that Walgreens does not protect us by returning the money? 5) To activate the cards require Social Security so why America Express does not help us and answers us to make do instead of finding the scammers since they know the names? It's outrageous!

    I write this blog to help people not to be scammed and report to justice what is happening have stolen our identity. With the above I ask for help to the justice and track down the criminals and get our money back.     I use it virtually everywhere, I'm not locked down with a card for just one store. The customer service has always been there for me and I can't say enough about it. I had an issue with the card, money was wrongly taken out, after explaining the situation and answering their questions. I was credited back my money. They were pleasant to me the whole time and I was frustrated. Then as the conversation went I my frustration went away and it was as if I never had a problem. It's the only prepaid card I use.

    Having the AMEX Serve card was an amazing way to work the American Express and use a pre-paid card with the prestige of AMEX. It was sooo simple to load and we are able to use anywhere. You also had customer service to assist by phone at any time. My daughter and I both use them and I transfer money to her all the time- simple with no fees.

    I've had Serve for years and the only complaint I have is how they hold YOUR MONEY when it's been refunded by the merchant, they literally hold YOUR MONEY for 7days just because they can, they don't care about the fact that it's YOUR MONEY and they do absolutely nothing to get YOUR MONEY THAT THEY HOLD back into your account. I had this happen to me several times and each time I was treated like it's not my money and they can do whatever they want with my money. I've had a utility almost get disconnected because they wouldn't issue me MY MONEY!!! I wouldn't recommend serve to anyone.

    American Express makes it really easy to reload at any Walmart, they let you know your balance and transactions. This makes it easy to keep track of your balance. Customer service is fast and efficient. I would recommend this to anyone. They also have special offers for you to sign up for and save money. I love using it on trips out of town.

    I had been a Verizon wireless customer for years. Even with a 19% faculty discount, my monthly bill was over $110 just for service in the U.S. Last February when my husband and I were on an African safari, I asked a woman who was a member of our group to email me a picture of a bird I had been unable to capture. She did. Apparently, my data overage was .016. Verizon charged me $15.00 for it, and I was annoyed enough to change carriers to Altice Mobile as an Optimum customer for $20 a month with unlimited talk and data. My husband’s and my lines on each number came to $21.96 apiece, a considerable saving.

    Then, we lost all cable services from August 4-11 after a storm. I thought I could use my cell phone, but I could not be heard, had dropped calls, could not email, or text Altice Mobile. Sure enough, the company charged me the full rate for the month. I tried to reach a representative for more than three weeks with no success before I filed a complaint with the New York State Attorney General’s Office and Better Business Bureau. Both government offices refused to step in until I contacted Altice Mobile, an utter impossibility.

    Since my American Express credit card is automatically billed each month, I set up a dispute on both charges online and asked for a week’s credit on each. This was done within a few days. Problem solved. American Express has OUTSTANDING customer service and live representatives to help with problems. Altice Mobile should take a page out of their training if they want to retain clientele. Just read the customer dissatisfaction on Yelp for a broader perspective on how to incense people and lose business.

    My daughter was excited to get a $50 FIFTY American Express SERVE gift card in May. She was saving it for a special purchase. That special purchase came this month on shoes she wanted to buy from Amazon. Tried to check out? SORRY little lady but you have $18 EIGHTEEN dollars on your gift card! But that's weird she thought, "I HAVE NEVER USED THIS GIFT CARD." I got on the phone to look at transaction history? Approximately $7 in fees deducted from her GIFT card monthly dwindling down to less than $20 TWENTY bucks. This is a scam. You don't take money from a gift recipient. Have they lost their minds with Greed? The only purpose is to SERVE American Express. They can trash all their products. Garbage.

    Opened a dispute 3 weeks ago and was informed that in order for the process to continue, I would have to fill out the forms THAT THEY WOULD SEND IN AN EMAIL. 14 phone calls later over the past 3 weeks, and I have yet to receive THEIR form. They have lied about sending it, they have hung up on my calls when I ask to speak to a supervisor - THEY DO NOT GIVE A CRAP about the customer. DO NOT USE SERVE! Go somewhere else!!!!     Overall been pretty happy with all you can do with this card but within the last couple weeks purchases at grocery store or Amazon are coming with a hefty authorization charge I assume. Was never notified of these charges with purchases so I'm warning people now. If you're on a budget they will put extra on hold and make you wait till it drops off. This is unacceptable to me and unnecessary so I will not be using them any longer. Ty.

    UPDATED 08/11/2020: Just posted on 8/5/20 about their illegal practices. Once again they are putting holds on your account for a greater dollar amount that was charged with grocery stores and Amazon. When you call them all they say is that it is a computer glitch. This is illegal and I will stop using this card. My direct deposit goes on this card which is hard to switch but what they are doing is illegal.

    ORIGINAL REVIEW: For the past couple of weeks after I use my card they are putting my entire balance on hold. Example: Used my card for a Amazon purchase of $39.95 and this company put my entire balance of $189.09 on for that charge. Called them and they told me it would fall off my card in a few days my balance would be adjusted properly. They are taking our money illegally.

    I have had NO bad experience with The American Express Serve card. I would recommend this card if you know how to manage your money and account. My direct deposit have gone through each week with no problems and everything I purchase come right out of my account. It seems that there must be a lot of people out there who do not know how to manage their money. This is a great card and I would recommend it to anybody.

    I sold a car to my co worker. He wired me 5,000 from his account. The wire went through then they suspended my account saying it was a direct deposit which it wasn't. They won't email any documents supporting the reason they lock your account. They didn't even tell me account was suspended. My contract worker asked for his money back and he had to send some letter called Indemnity letter or something after doing so no response from them it's been a month my account was permanently suspended but yet I still get emails from them saying my account balance is 5000? They hold your money under your social security number they tell you, you cannot close your account. This company doesn't have Americans you can speak with only India. They will not email anything on the subject - only talk on the phone. Please anyone with class action info email me **.

    I put $500 on American Express Serve card. I tried to register 17 times and it wouldn’t register me. Finally they said they wouldn’t accept my registration. In the meantime I can’t get my money back. I have to spend it. They said they have no way to refund my money. I have to spend it on their card. I really need my money to pay my bills but I can’t because American Express is holding it hostage. Please do not do business with a company it’s from out of the United States. It’s a horrible company. You can hardly understand what the people are saying and they are rude.

    Back on Saturday, March 7, 2020 I loaded 178.00 and paid 3.45 fee in NYC which is supposed to be a FREE re-load. It is now June 29, 2020 and still no funds! They denied my claim and it show a load to my card on my account, but no amount is listed. So they know that money was loaded but they are refusing to return my funds to me. All these months I have been trying to contact someone and yesterday I finally get someone and they promptly hung up. Please free yourself! You have the chance to be stress free.     Do not purchase a Serve Free Reloads card! Never in my life have I given a bad review or complaint to any company, however, in this instance I make an exception. I purchased a Serve Free Reloads card at my local CVS 3 days ago and had no problem paying the $3 dollar purchase fee. As soon as I got home and tried to use the card to make my father's day gift purchases I found that I was unable to complete my purchases due to insufficient funds. Upon checking my balance on the Serve website and also calling customer service, I found that I had been charged an additional $7 dollar fee for the month despite having already paid a $3 dollar fee and only having had the card for a matter of hours at the time of attempted use.

    Were I to be charged a monthly fee after having actually had the card for a month it would make more sense, however, being charged a total of $10 dollars in fees in the space of one evening and without any indication of extra fees on the package I find myself extremely angry and American Express will never get another penny out of me in this lifetime.

    I had a deposit from unemployment deposited into my account for my fiancee. The first went through but the second deposit they cut my account off completely. Told me against policy rules and I have called and called and they told me I would receive a refund by check. I never got it. Called again and was told I had to write a letter for refund. They stole right at 794.00 and have not repaid the money owed to me.

    I woke up May 15 trying sign into my account because I received a direct deposit and it wouldn't let me log in. Come to find out they locked me out and told me they would request I receive a refund for my funds but if decline I cant receive my money.     Don't get this card. My stimulus money was deposited. I logged in and saw my balance. After, every single transaction I've tried to make with the exception of one has been declined. No reason for it AT ALL. The money is showing in the account. Don't bother trying to call customer service to try to find out why they're being declined. You'll be on hold for hours and end up getting hung up on before you get to speak to a human being.

    The last transaction I tried to make was for an online purchase. According to the company I was ordering from, the transaction didn't go through. On my SERVE account that amount is frozen for who knows how long. That's $188 I don't have access to and probably won't have access to for weeks, or ever. Who knows with this company?

    I tried to pay an online bill. Declined. I tried to pay for groceries. Declined. I tried to place online orders. Declined or frozen. I tried to remove cash from an ATM. Declined. The list goes on. I've dealt with some pretty bad companies over the years but I thought American Express wouldn't be one of them. Boy, was I wrong. I wish I would have read reviews before agreeing to this card. I have cash that I don't have access to and can't use. Horrible card.

    Wtf!!!! I am so rip ** at these **. Serve sent me an email telling me my federal taxes were deposited and ready for use. That’s amazing considering my balance was zero!!. I checked the IRS website and they sent it there soooo. Wtf!! No one answers the phone and I’m starting to lose my **. If I hear that dumb ** voice say due to the coronavirus no one’s available one more time I swear! How unprofessional can you possibly be. This is a dire time for pretty much everyone so the fact these morons are locking us out of our accounts for literally nothing and showing a zero balance is complete **.     My Serve account has been locked since I loaded my card with 500.00. I keep getting fraud messages that some company is trying to get 549.00. When I try to call then, no answer. I have stayed on the phone for hours at a time trying to get a human to no avail. I think that they are stealing money from the customers and then they plan to go bankrupt. This company is no longer reputable. A class action suit need to be filed, so that we can at least know what is going on with this company. They are lying and cheating the customers out of their money. Noticed that this did not start until Covid-19 came on the scene. I just want my money. They owe me. If I could give them zero stars, I definitely would.

    I received notice from IRS that my stimulus money was put on my Serve card on 4/30 its now 5/2 still not on my card? Wtf. I tried customer service. Just a joke. Just get hung up on, there's no way to email them either, also I used to get weekly emails from them on my balance. They suddenly stopped? I contacted the MN Dept of Commerce and filed a complaint, I told the lady what was going on with this crap company of thieves not only to me but to thousands of others and she told me to let people know to contact your state dept of commerce immediately with complaint.     I have had the American Express Serve card for about two years now. Just recently with the stimulus payment coming out is the only time I have had an issue. My stimulus payment posted and I didn’t think that I should have had to go and withdraw it all immediately but within two days 21 different transactions were made and wiped out all of my stimulus funds. Called the contact number and after waiting at least 30 minutes got a person and then they put me on hold again only to have me waiting for hours and still got no one on the line. I’m hoping since this has happened to so many that they can resolve this and get people their money back and if not I will be looking into a lawsuit.

    You can read all the people who have rated Amex Serve during the Covid-19 pandemic. I fit with everyone else in the Month of April 2020. Unable to log-in under any circumstances and telephone communication is an endless loop for hours, indefinitely. I called (212) 640-200 and spoke to New York headquarters. They recommended the following:

    1. Stay on the customer support line until you reach someone.

    2. File a complaint in writing to: Atten: Steve Squeri, Office Chairman American Express PO Box 2425 Church Street Station New York, NY 10007 (or) email: chairmansoffice@aexp.com. Atten: steve squeri.

    I would like to ask: If someone would help us that has a degree in Jurisprudence, Please take our case as Pro Bono or on Contingency for a Class Action. No information on the website as to reasoning to the Account Lockdown/Lockout. I feel they have a duty to provide compensation for the loss of use for services AND access to account holder funds/money. They have made a bad situation for all account holders and this is just plain POOR planning on their part. What a FAIL! Thanks for making us starve and beg for our money so that we can eat and live.     04/14/2020 Went and did my taxes through Credit Karma. At the end of my taxes was offered a American Express Serve card. So I gave them my address. A week passed and no card. Call them and they said they're sending a card. Today is 04/29/2020. Still no card. If I don’t receive this card by Sat. 05/3/2020 I will be contacting BBB in Arizona and filing a fraud will IRS, etc.

    My regular federal taxes were deposited 4/15/20 on an American Express Serve cards through Credit Karma, when I filed my taxes. 4/23/20 I'm hoping my federal return is still on the serve card. I haven't been able to activate the card. I've tried online, through their app and only gotten to step 3. Which says to call customer service to finish activation. I call customer service and a) wait on hold for an hour or two, the call gets dropped, b) told to finish my activation online or on the app. Basic circle jerk. There's no one to speak with or help. The automated system on the phone says I have money on my serve card. The website and app says I have $0.00. Has anyone started a lawsuit or filed anything with the Better Business Bureau?

    I was locked out of my account as well after trying to request a new card, if your account is locked call ‭1 (800) 660-2454‬ not the number on the website. This will take you directly to account protection. I waited 3 hours & finally was able to get my account unlocked. Still not a fan, & this is completely unacceptable. My advice is to find time where you can be productive & wait at the same time! Just trying to pay it forward!

    My card was locked out of the blue, I have had my stimulus deposited. The day after it deposited I was locked out. I have call all hrs day and night for 6 days for up to 2 hrs then disconnected. My paycheck now has dropped. I got Bill's. I'm afraid they have stole my money after reading other post. Have any one started a lawsuit.

    I was given one of these ridiculous cards via Jackson Hewitt tax service. They told me I would get an advance on my taxes (which of course I was declined for). I received taxes back on card ok. Now with the stimulus payments, I have yet to receive the payment and when I try to call customer service, a recording says "we don't have any info on stimulus payments" and hangs up. Now I want to close this ridiculous account which I do not use, and have $0.01. It's making me withdraw money via my bank, but now have to wait 5-7 business days for them to "verify" my bank account. By far one of the WORST cards/customer service I have ever experienced. If you are offered this card from Jackson Hewitt as they lure you in with the BS line "You could get up to $3,000 advance on your tax money" DECLINE!! JH probably gets a major kickback from AMEX when they open you up for this terrible card. On to review the other incompetents, Jackson Hewitt!!!

    Okay, so I have had the Serve cash back prepaid card now for about 3 months and I had linked my other bank debit card to the Serve card and a month ago I had been locked out of my account was told to upload my debit card with the other bank and my driver's license to verify my identity. Well, after that everything seemed good to go. Now as of 4 days ago I was locked out once again, totally unable to log into the account to make any changes necessary because I got a direct deposit to this account and apparently the address is different so now basically I just called and was on hold for about 2 hours until getting disconnected. How is that possible? No email to confirm my password to enter the account to fix anything. Nobody can answer the phones. What is going on Serve? This is completely unnecessary to do at this very difficult time.

    Where do I begin?! Oh, the lies. So I filed a fraud claim with AMEX Serve on April 2, 2020, and I was told to fill out the claim documents. There were 3 fraudulent transactions: $103.00; $283.00; $40.74. I promptly uploaded those documents online on April 6. I proceeded to wait the 10 business days to receive my provisional credit. Today, April 17, I received an e-mail stating my claim was declined... The e-mail said that "the transactions were authorized." (That seems to be their common response to all customers' claims as per the reviews on here and on BBB's website.) Then at the bottom it said, "you can write a letter to request documents used to investigate your claim."

    First of all, my pin number was attempted twice before the person was successfully able to authenticate it. Also, the charges were made in different denominations. Third, my card was used a supermarket that I am not even aware of. I'm on quarantine due to the COVID -19 (if you're reading this, I'm praying that you're safe, sound, and healthy). Back to these frauds. Anyway, I am applaud that they would require me to write a letter to acquire information about my claim. I am supposed to receive that automatically. In addition, the dispute department didn't do a thorough investigation; in fact, I'm convinced they emphatically deny these claims without even looking into it. The reviews are very alarming: they all say the same thing. I know for a fact that they didn't look at the camera footage, because had they did, they would've had no choice but to honor it. It wasn't ME!

    They don't go that extra mile because they know they would have no choice but to pay. So these grossly negligent people use unreliable, unjust practices to "solve claims," aka deny them. Every review is poor. They have an F rating with the BBB. I've yet to see one positive review. That is VERY telling. The bottom line is: avoid these undereducated, incompetent individuals. They are frauds. I will be following up with the FTC, Federal Trade Comiss, and FBI. I will also hire a lawyer. Because of the principal! It's only $426.74; however, they need to learn a lesson! They cannot continue these unethical business practices without consequences.

    My stimulus was put on an American Express Serve card. Why? I have no idea. I have never used this card nor was it my 2018 or 2019 banking information. Since I cannot activate it because it says invalid card number and now I am locked out and nobody answers the phones I cannot even see what the account number is to verify that it is what the IRS shows the bank number of where my stimulus went. Why? Because you have to activate your card to see that too.

    I thought I read that your temporary number you could use for online first before activating. NOPE. I saw someone else post they were able to move funds from the mobile app but you cannot do anything until the card is activated. Has anyone had any luck being able to possibly get it activated by going to an ATM. Of course I can't find that out myself because I am still waiting for the actual card to come in. Which does me no good because unless someone answers the phone there or by the grace of God the ATM does it for me. HELP please. This is RIDICULOUS.

    Dear in 2019 tax season these people took $500 extra out of my money and I had to deal with this no answering the phone playing games on the phone when I call the call center now. My stimulus payment is on this card and I'm going through the same thing. I think this is bigger than us. I think there's thousands of thousands of people they taking all their money at the same time. There's a virus going on. We can't get in touch with anyone. Why millions and millions of our dollars they are doing what they will. I think this is bigger than what we think.

    It's a conspiracy because call Center 2 report this is overseas most the time. You call people from overseas and they make fun of you hang up on you. Very humiliating and now all of a sudden there's a virus you can't even talk to no one. They're confiscating millions of dollars how many people 1200 + 2 kids $500 each child. How much money is that.     I put 316 dollars on a prepaid American Express Serve Card. just so I can make online purchases. Go to the option Pay and transfer the the option send money, at the bottom is the option to send to your bank. Follow the instructions, it will take 2 days to get in your account. If you don't have an account get a free one online like Chime or Varo.

    I received a stimulus from the IRS that was deposited to this card, upon activating it and verifying my email it told me I was locked out of my account and I needed to call. Unfortunately I've been calling for days, mornings, noon and night, all I've gotten is hung up on. The sad part is after reading all these reviews, I'm confident that American Express has read them as well and have chosen not to correct the issue, and it's simply because they're greedy and wicked people. Stressing yourself won't change the issue, but put your anger and frustration to work and let's all start a class action lawsuit.

    Unable to reach account protection department in order to have my account unlocked. I already know why it is locked because stamps.com continues to try and charge my old card which I'm not sure why it keeps affecting my current card but I have to go through this process every 3 to 4 weeks and unless I can figure out what email address was used for stamps.com it will continue to be an issue for me. Whenever I try calling it just hangs up on me. If I don't get my account unlocked any direct deposits that I receive will be rejected so it is crucial that I can get this issue taken care of ASAP. Can't wait to ditch this card and move on to a better company to meet my financial needs.

    This is a terrible company to work with. My stimulus check has been deposited into the account. I no longer have this pre-paid debit card, I have no way to access the online system because of this. So I can't request a new card or access online banking to simply transfer funds elsewhere. Most companies would have a workaround, this one, nope! If you don't have a card # you are screwed. Call customer service to get help and get hung up/disconnected a million times, wait on hold for hour and hours, regardless of the day of the week or time of day you try. They have basically hijacked my money. This shouldn't be legal. Seems we should be able to start some sort of class action against them for unjustly restricting our ability to access our money. I would never recommend this product to anyone and shame on tax preparation services for recommending such a terrible product to patrons to use for tax refunds.

    I have a payroll deposit from October 2019 sitting on a card that I don't have. I have been calling Serve for over 3 weeks trying to get a replacement card or a cash wire at my expense. I called last night at 130 am and was in hold for 2 hours and 28 before the call disconnected. I can't login to request a new card bc I never received the card in the first place. There is no email contact and when you call Amex, they refer you to Serve. This is exactly why I moved my direct deposit over to a real bank immediately after that deposit.

    I've paid bills through Bill Pay over the last month. Now, I'm being told that the payments were never received. The app keeps changing the delivery day to 7 days out. There is neither a way to reach customer service, nor to start a process of cancelling those payments from the website to give me access to my money. I am out of $1,650 with no one to call.     They have locked me out of my account for no reason 3 times in the last 4 months. It takes 3 to 6 hours being on hold to speak to someone. You can only use it at like 2 ATM here in my city and it costs every time you use it so I finally transferred my money to my regular bank account. American Express held it in processing for a month before they released it to my account. Jackson ** forced me to use this service. I would not recommend Serve or American express to anyone. You would be better off going to the zoo and handing monkeys your money. It is completely useless.

    My stimulus check was deposited on a Amex Serve card that was never activated due to me not actually getting a tax refund last year. I did not request that my stimulus check be deposited to this card, but if the card worked, it wouldn't be a problem. My problem is that I cannot activate the card. If the website is working (it only works every now and then), it doesn't recognize my card. If I try to activate it over the phone, I get a message saying that I have to email verify which I don't have an email from them to verify. I have held on hold for over 15 hours just to be cut off. Sometimes it cuts me off immediately and sometimes I wait for 3 hours to just be cut off.

    I tried to chat with "regular" Amex agents since I do have 2 American Express credit cards, but they can't help. You can NOT get in touch with anyone at Serve, there is no online chat or email to send any questions, and the website is useless. This is the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced and to think it's an AMEX company! I would never recommend this product to anyone. I am really starting to feel like I've been robbed.

    My husband and I received this card back in 2018 to receive our 2017 tax return. My husband and I have filed jointly for years. Had no problems back in 2018, but come 2019/ 2020 the company rejected our state and federal tax refund. We were told over and over this would not be a problem, as he is on the account. I called and waited on hold for 2 to 3 hours, until a rep answered, was very rude, and said "your husband isn't primary holder, order another card with his name as primary holder, take 7-10 business days to receive, and call the IRS to change the information. (Which we all know that cannot be changed once the IRS receives the information of your bank account). Then he says: "Have a nice day". I received no apology, and a quick hang up. So rude!!!

    This caused a lot of problems for us, almost losing our home. American Express Serve held onto our state and Federal for almost two weeks, before sending it back to the IRS and CA franchise tax board. Now comes the stimulus check, received two emails from this company on 4/13/2020, saying they rejected the deposit. The whole world is going through a pandemic, and this company does not care about their customers. I will be making a call to them tomorrow, because this has gone on far enough. I wish the IRS portal to change bank account information was up quicker, so that I, amongst a lot of other people do not have to deal with this B.S.. Don't not, I repeat do not do business with American Express Serve, they probably bank off the money that customers are waiting for as a commission. And now, yet again my family and I are struggling.     I've been using Serve for a couple years now...I've been satisfied. My deposits are always 2 days earlier than my pay day. I've called customer service maybe 3 times over the 2 yrs I've been with them. No complaints... UNTIL this whole Covid 19 issue. I've been calling customer service for well over a week now and the hold time cutoff is 3 hrs before the phone disconnects. They're 24hrs but it's like only 3 people are working in the call center b/c it's impossible to get someone on the line. There's no way their call center is flooding w/ calls 24hrs a day or the hold times are extended. It would be really helpful if they had an online chat or an email response team. All I need is one question answered that I cannot find on their useless website...and I'm not about to send correspondence or mail my question to them. This is insane.

    Have a return credit to my card for $100 from one source auto sales. I call to see when the credit will deposit back into account because it is showing deposited yet the funds aren't available.     I used the American Express Serve Card to receive my tax return. I had to go away on business and they were shipping my card to my address. I came back from my business trip on March 12th And asked where my card was. They said they had sent it to me on March 5. I said I did not receive it so I asked them to cancel the card. They didn't. I again called and asked where my card was. They said again they sent it to me. They had not. On March 20th I again cancelled my card. On March 25th I received my new card with over 6,000 missing.

    I filed a dispute letting them know I never received the card. Why was 6,000 missing? Numerous ATM transactions in a different state had been charged to the card. I showed them the police report and they still have yet to give me the funds I am missing. I am struggling in this epidemic just like everyone else and you all are allowing people to fraudulently use a card. Wow. I hope this review is helpful to someone. They allow people to steal your card even when they tell you the card is stolen and use the card. I hope you all have another bank cause you might lose all of your funds.

    I tried buying something through Zmercari online as I’ve done many times. My card would not go through. I went to my app and it told me over and over that my password and username was incorrect, it wasn’t, so I waited at 3:30 in the morning for TWO HOURS, to finally speak to someone in India, with not very good English. I was told my account was permanently suspended because I had violated section 15d. I have done nothing wrong, nothing out of the ordinary, NOTHING! So, I asked when will I get my remaining 380.00, she said they will send me a check in a couple of days, from all the other complaints I’ve read, same situation, it could take weeks or months to get your money, pretty heartless company during the Covid 19 period!     I disputed a transaction from a online unrealistic source **. Apparently this site isn't real. The transaction amount of 53.03. On 02/20/2020. The information which was requested of me I did submit by uploading through the link which AMEX provided. On the day MY ACCOUNT is to be credited THE REFUND the transaction has been wiped out as though it never existed. I still hold proof of the transaction because I held on to my personal records. AMEX may even be involved in many of the online shopping scams that are considered cyber crimes.

    I have an American Express card through Jackson Hewitt which I used to receive my tax return. Today I went to the supermarket to buy some milk and cereal for my kids and was told that my card was declined. I should have had more than enough enough to pay for what I was getting so I paid cash and checked my balance when I left the store.

    I was stunned to see that all my money was gone. There were multiple fraudulent transactions in EUROS which drained all the money in my account so I immediately call Serve and explain the situation. I was told I needed to be transferred to another department. No problem. I then waited on hold for 2 HOURS before hanging up figuring I would have better luck emailing them or even online chat but nope I could not find a way to do either. What am I supposed to do? I need my money especially now and there’s no way to get hold you this when you clearly have fraudulent charges on your account. This is how American Express runs their business.

The card decline each time I tried to purchase the item. Only to find out that five transactions has already be taken from the card. You must be kidding me. I try to call the damn ** and was on the phone for over 7 hrs they did not answer the phone. When I was only able to get hold of one of the crook on the phone. She does not know what she is saying. They charge $7.00 monthly fees and make other charges on the card on a card I have not used at all.

    I've never had a horrible experience exactly but have had to contact customer service, which you CAN'T understand the reps and they don't have a clue what they're doing. Something that really bothered me was we are going through a national crisis because of covid-19 and my card decides to withdraw $5 out of the last $10 I have in my account to cover the monthly fee.     2020 TAX THE WORST. I had over 42 transactions on my account listed out of texas!! I live in North Carolina. I followed their process filled out the fraud form sent it back and they tried the same thing with me like they never recv'd it!!! My total charges are $2609.19 I have been going crazy.     I have had this Amex Bluebird since 2012 and I have been receiving direct deposits into that account for the last 5 years. About a year ago I had a charge come up for $99.54 in LA, I live in RI and have never been to LA so I called and reported it as a fraudulent charge. I was told if I sign the affidavit and return it within 10 days I would have the credit while they investigate, I did send it in but no credit. When I called I was told they didn't receive it but yet I had proof I sent it. Anyways I had to wait 45 days to get it back, so since it was the first issue I had with them I figured I would give them one more shot!

    Everything had been fine since then until about 10 days ago, I returned an item back to BestBuy and the refund was issued the following business day for $94.58. I then see a debit for the same amount and its marked "Merchant credit hold for review". Like other have mentioned on here this was the first time seeing this so I called and was told they had the money but they were checking the transaction to make sure it belonged and was told it would be 7 days until it was released. I finally get a manager and he tells me they don't even have the money yet so how could they credit it?

    This is the worst experience I ever had with any company. In Jan 2020 I applied to have my taxes sent to this company's debit card. I was told my card would be here in 10 days!!!! 15 days later no card. So I call and I am told by a rep who is reading a script on how sorry they are that my card hasn't arrived. Give them a few more days and if my card has not arrived call back. Of course, my card didn't arrive so I call back. I sit on the line for 3 hrs for someone to read a script telling me that I have to get a replacement card and I have to wait another 10 days. Now we are in Feb. I wait another 20 days to still have no card. I call and once more I am told how sorry they are that they are sending me another replacement card to replace the replacement card I never received. I wait and wait and wait. Now it is March 2020 and today finally I get a card, for it to be not associated with my account.

    I call very frustrated and done with this company. I speak to 4 people who all say the same thing - how sorry they are and if I want my replacement card to replace the replacement card that replaced the replacement card that replaced a card I never received. To arrive in less than 10 days they will charge my account $30 so I can get my card maybe in 4 days. The customer rep was rude disrespectful and uncaring that their company screwed up and all they can say is how sorry they are I can't pay my bills. No one cared that they made several mistakes and no one cared about taking care of me as a customer who trusted they knew how to do their job correctly.

    If you ever think about applying for this company's card think again!!!! They could care less about you as a customer. If I could give this company a rating it would be a negative 1 million. Now I have to wait another month to get a replacement card to replace the replacement card that replaced the replacement card that replaced my original card. This is disgusting!!!!

    This is possibly the worst experience you will have. You will never get anyone truthful enough to talk to. I called about using the account number to pay a bill directly. The customer service lady said it was ok that I could use the routing number and acct number to pay my bills. I repeated the question 3 times and she assured me, "Yes you can use the account # and routing provided for direct deposit to set up bill payments too".

    Oooo unto me the bills I set up were bounced and $30 fees charged by merchant. I called them back to ask why? They told me the acct number is for direct deposit only. I told them to listen to my phone call and demanded to know why I was misled and it was only fair if they refunded me the fees. They plainly told me, "Sorry we can’t file a dispute with consumer affairs and hang up.." All I wanted is for someone to acknowledge that they misled me and pay back the fees charged. Keep off this card. You will have endless headaches.

    They reported my daughter refund as fraud told to me by the IRS. My daughter was on the sub account.... yet they claim she’s not allowed to deposit her money. Then they tried to tell me she could but the routing and account number is wrong which in the app shows both numbers are the same. I offered to show them and they refused to acknowledge. And again after a month of waiting on this card I can't use it & have to wait on another card which will take even longer for it to come so now I'm out my money on a card I already paid for & now another card they sent out charging me for when I never agreed to be charged for another card.     I did my friend's income taxes. They claimed mail a card February 3rd. Never received. Call back, ask for a replacement card saying takes 10 days, check email. They didn't mail card til 28th, when you call them can't get through unless you press #### then let you speak someone that plays dumb, act like you can't authorize card on their end, help you get your tax money off card. I'm just frustrated, fed-up American Serve. They are not good debit card company, I will be suing them. That's his tax refund money, acting like take a month get a debit card. Will be calling IRS letting them know how they holding up the refund. Nobody should use them.

    My income tax was put on my American Express Serve card on February 25th and I did 2 money transfer from my card to my bank checking account on the same day. It says it takes 3-5 business days for the transfer to go through. I call on Friday and had a hard time getting a representative and when I finally did I was told that my money would be in my checking account by Monday March 2nd. I checked and it's still not there. So I call and get a rep and now she says it would be March 6th. I was lied to and got a different story every time I talked to a rep. They are all from the Philippines and most of the time you can't understand them. They have stolen my money and I will be getting my lawyer and suing American Express if my money is not in my bank by tomorrow morning. They just RIP you off and take your money.     I would not recommend this card to anyone. You will wait forever for a phone representative if you call them. Forget about a timely refund from anything, these idiots will hold your money back for 7 days and more. I'm still waiting for a refund from that Airbnb issued to me a week ago and American Express placed a hold on the funds and will not to this day release it. Forget about a real customer representative, they are a foreign based call center just reading a script, so don't expect help. Useless waste of time and your money. There are much better choices I will use after this less than one star experience, avoid the low monthly fee, there is a reason it is cheap. Lesson learned, not recommended at all.

    DO NOT USE SERVE OR BLUEBIRD. All the calls are routed to the Philippines, and only read scripts to get you off the phone. They will spend 10 hours calling you a liar and doing everything not to help you instead of taking 15 minutes to help you. - Account Protective Services highest level manager can't even pull calls, do anything beyond file a dispute, lock and issue you a new card. The only thing beyond that is to temporarily unlock a card for 1 transaction. They will lie to you, say their terms and service agreement supercedes the laws. When you point out they are violating the cardholder agreement, they say that that is not their procedure and it supercedes everything. Incomm - tech support- are idiots. No supervisor or manager so can't file a complaint on them. Only one female agent had any initiative and integrity in the whole department. I WISH I could get her on the phone.

    My husband has hundreds of dollars withdrawn each month from the date 01/01/0001 but according to the nameless, faceless, unaccountable investigation team, there's no fraud. My account has over $3000 stolen on call real time with them. Person already arrested and charged, and STILL denied my first fraud case saying it was legitimately charged. My husband and I were in a court room 30 miles away and I have documentation to prove it. Never stepped foot in the building the charges were made ever - not once my entire life to this date, and it was found to be a legitimate transaction. Now after submitting their "declaration of fraud form" twice in their "10 business days" I'm being told to wait longer on my SECOND TIME DISPUTING. My husband and I have asked 30 or more times for a manager after a supervisor repeatedly said "** you **!" To my husband as well as other profanities. Really love supervisors calling me a straight up LIAR.

    I will be switching my direct deposit very soon and terminating this account. I have a serious issue and every time I try to call it won't let me connect to a live customer service representative. I wouldn't recommend this card or service to anyone. I made a purchase on last month on the 30th and I can't talk to nobody to see if the purchase has been cleared because the money is still in my account. I tried to call 10 different times today and even from another line. They want to treat this as an credit card but it's not helping your credit and not every vendor accepts they card.     Worst card company ever, I called and reported my temp card lost on 2/1. They send me two cards either linked to my account with my money on it. The tell me no one issued a replacement for a card on the 1st (I also called on the 2nd to see if they had a way to access fund during the wait, he confirmed it was shipped). This is after a week wait, they have 0 ways to access money without a card. Now it's a total of 14 to 20 days for a card. They tell me I have to pay 20 bucks if I want it any faster. Like I'm the one who messed up.???

    I’m a victim of identity theft Since July 2019, I have reported fraudulent use on my card, have sent them police reports and FTC reports. This is thousands of dollars that I am now out of, here we are February 2020 and I received an email this morning stating that they would not be refunding me any funds. Mind you I’ve sent them everything that they’ve asked for I’m told that I need to write a letter to find out why they will not refund me. I have contacted Their corporate office and was handed off to somebody else, this is sad when I called in I get somebody from overseas, and I’m told that I need to stop lying about speaking to someone at the corporate offices. They have denied 3 times and say they don’t have enough info. I have tried everything possible to get my money back, but no luck.

You call to get assistance they deny any responsibility.. You go around in circles with no help.. And to find out they are not even in the US... They are in the Philippines!!! They keep your money.. Won't help with disputes and they are not even associated with the BBB!!! I am going to find me another company asap.. The early pay was nice..But all the headache and strife is not worth it...

    My account is locked and have not received a reason why. I reloaded my card as I usually do and when I kept trying to get into my account via the Serve app it kept saying basically that my Password and Username is incorrect. So I kept trying to change it to no avail because I knew that my Password and or Username was correct and couldn’t understand why this was happening. So I called Serve Card Customer Service and had spoken with the Representative and had gotten off the call with at 10:37 P.M. The Rep Said that she will send it to the back office and make it urgent. They will start working on it within the next few minutes. She said that “they may” send an confirmation via email and if they don’t just call back. She said that they locked my account. I asked her why and she said she didn’t know.

    It was no reason for my account to be locked because I reloaded it tonight’s as I had always done and there was no problem. So I had called back and had Spoken with another Rep @ 11:42 p.m. when the call was ended. He said that the account should be unlocked within 24 hours. He said they didn’t list a reason why the account was locked. So here I am the next day without my funds being made available to me for absolutely no reason at all.

    Some months back I had decided to go with American Express Serve due to the good reviews and was having no problems. Now I see how they take your money and hold onto your money for no reason at all. This is absolutely horrendous! It is ludicrous and I am asking for my money to be made available to me. It is my money and they have no right to take it and hold it so I cannot use it. This situation is A clear example of an absolute abuse of power to hold someone else’s money against their will for no reason whatsoever other than the fact that they can.

    Had our taxes done at Jackson Hewitt and was given the option of getting money early, which we needed to pay rent and electric. No one knew what they were talking about because this card certainly isn't free to use basically anywhere. Most of the ATMs dont accept it, you can't check your balance, if you use it at any atm and it doesn't even give you money you pay 10 cents each time, if you do get money off it you pay 3.50 at most banks or 3.00 and you get charged by American Express 3.00. Nothing about this card is free!!! Also a lot of places no longer accept American express. If you get your taxes done and are offered the card it's best to just wait on it.

    I am beyond disgusted and upset with American Express Serve. I have had an account with them for over 5 years. My card was compromised and 6 fraud charges were made to my account. Upon realizing that these charges were made, I immediately cancelled my card and requested a new one. First and foremost, you cannot submit a formal dispute until the charges clear your account, so you have to wait 2-3 business days before you can even dispute the charges. Secondly, I couldn't file the dispute until I received my new card which was another 7 business days. They make you jump through hoops to dispute the charges. After speaking to a rep, you have to fill out a dispute form followed by a declaration of fraud. You then upload them to the website where they then begin the investigation.

    After waiting 2 weeks I finally get an e-mail stating that my dispute has been declined and that if I want to review the documents, I have write a stupid letter to their offices in Georgia. The charges made to my account were purchased in cities I don't even live in nor do I visit. They were also spent at stores I do not have ANY record of shopping at (liquor stores, cigarette stores and a pet store - don't even have a pet!). I am canceling my card because the cash back incentive isn't even worth another potential fraudulent purchase.

    Purchased a Amex Serve card on 12/11/19 @ 3:44 pm. At around 6 pm I tried to use it for a "online donation" and the card was "denied". Tried several times, but the website kept showing "denied". I Checked the Amex Serve website and it showed the $50 dollars as available. Tried to contact Amex Serve several times, but kept getting the automated "push the number routine" and no one would answer the "Amex" phone numbers listed (Ring+Ring+Ring) --Until 7 pm!! -- The Represenatative said it was "Good to Go". Tried the card again--"denied again"; Tried calling Amex back--No Answer again!!! Then tried the card hourly; and finally at 10 PM it transfered the money. Why did Amex show the money available when it wasn't for over 6 hours. How can anyone get things straightened out when it takes forever and some "luck" to find a way to talk to them. Once they got your money you're at "Their Mercy"!!! ---NEVER AGAIN!!! -- Tim **

    On 12 Dec 19 and 14 Dec 19 they allowed fraudulent transactions to occur, sending my money to a company called Zomato. Zomato appears to be a food delivery service in India. I called and had to argue, but the money was reinstated to my account. Further, that credit card number was CANCELLED, and a new card was to be issued. On 21 Dec 19, five days AFTER the credit card number was cancelled, American Express authorized six more fraudulent transactions, transferring $44.04 out of my account to the same Zomato in India. How is that even possible after the first complaint, and after the credit card number was cancelled???

    I phoned and initiated a dispute, but the money has not been returned to my account. This is 100% American Express incompetence. They continue to authorize fraudulent transactions, with MY money, even after a credit card number has been cancelled, before a new card is even issued. I have never shared my info or number with anyone, nor lost it, nor used it irresponsibly, nor had any financial transaction in India, with anyone for anything, ever.

    First of all, I've had this card four years and never started experiencing these issues until the last three months. It's just been one thing after another. I can't tell you how many times my direct deposit wasn't deposited on time. I called customer service and they did the blame game: "contact your employer." IT has nothing to do with them! It's YOU, AMEX! I was the only person who hadn't gotten paid AND I split my deposit between two accounts and those small amounts were in my accounts at the other financial institutions ON TIME! The nerve! It happened again today and I promise you I will be stopping my direct deposit from going to this card ASAP! ** is ridiculous!

    My mother purchased this card as a 'gift card' for my daughter because Walmart put it with the other suggested holiday gift cards. She wanted her to have an account that was reloadable and similar to a bank account so she thought it was perfect. She added 100 dollars to it at check out (where she also simultaneously purchased 5 other gift cards), wrapped it and thought that was it.

    Today she gifted it to my daughter who was over the moon about having a real, 'adult' card and I immediately went to activate it for her online. I enter the information multiple times and it keeps giving me error messages, so I call. The guy is condescending right off gate, saying that the card is not yet activated. Eventually asks me when I got the card. I say I had just gotten it, so he tries to say that the merchant must have not activated it yet because it's only been an hour. I say no, she bought it weeks ago but he still tries to say that somehow WALMART somehow psychically knew that I was just now receiving the card as a gift and had waited for me to open it to start the process on their end. He was completely serious, and would not admit that saying a multi-million dollar company doesn't usually pay enough attention to their customers to literally be lying in wait to activate the card only after they knew we had unwrapped it might be a little bit of a stretch.

    He said if it wasn't because Walmart was stalking me and my family to know when we were opening our gifts then the card must have never been bought. I explained that I have the receipt and that the card was purchased with multiple different gift cards that are all working fine, but no, he says that I can only wait for Walmart to stop playing games with me, that I should call back in an hour and hung up. Needless to say, this has been an awesome first impression, and can't wait for our second date. PS- GIVE MY DAUGHTER HER CHRISTMAS MONEY YOU LILY-LIVERED EAR **. TIA.

    Had this card for a few years and now their customer service is not good. Card is not all that good either. They run the card for trans that I didn't even make and then trans that I did not even authorise and then they will not help out with the trans and dispute it. I am working on changing the card to another company that cares. I will warn all you that see this. Stay away from this card and company at all cost.

    So I got my card yesterday through Jackson Hewitt and everything was fine until today when their system was down. Told it was gonna be down for 3 hours, ok no problem. 4 hours later still down and so I call, they say, "Sorry we dont know when it will be back up." Call back 2 hours later, "Oh it will be 6pm now." Nearly 10 hours later than what they said. They said, "You can still use the card," nope, sure cant. Have had my card less than 24 hours and couldn't even use it. Finally around 7pm the system was up. Wont be using these guys or this card ever again. Awful way to do business. From reading other reviews, sounds like it's issue after issue. If you get this card, better max it out or take all the money off of it, or you could be without money for awhile if another "glitch" happens.

    I use to swear by this card, loved getting my funds early, and enjoyed the wide selection of atm’s. However this company is deceitful in their customer service practices. They are rude and will directly tell you “oh well” when their systems do down and you can’t access your money. They take forever to release holds on funds so hope you don’t need that back any time soon. All and all, you can find a better card, this company will leave you out of luck paying late fees and return item fees simply because their systems go down or get compromised and they do nothing about it while your bills get further and further behind.

    Just got my advance deposited on the AMEX Serve card. Go to use it and it's declined. So I go online and find the site is down. It even says, "You can still use your card though!" Yea, no. Called customer service and they are saying the entire system is down until midnight. Why the ** do I have to wait for MY money so you can do repairs to your system right before X-Mas? Terrible service. Avoid at all costs!!
