I had a loan with them and they said I had a grace period of ten days. Made it 2 years with them before they told me I was getting a $5 a day charge for every day after the payment date. When I confronted them with the fact there was a grace period of 10 days with no late charges they told me I was correct, they are interest fees. Long story short this is where you go if you want to get ripped off.

If I could give this company a negative two stars, I would. Their customer Service is horrible and when you're late, they call and threatened you to pay it that day. My husband passed away and we didn't have life insurance so I had use my check to bury him. Ally called, I explained to them what was going on and they didn't care. They called me for ten days straight to make the payment. Finally, I had to pawn my things to make a payment.

Same as the rest of the complaints. After being out of a job for months, fell back on car payments, asked for an extension, signed the papers, sent the money - no extension. Tried again for an extension. They said that this will be the last extension because I had one previously. Explained that I never got the first extension. They said they would check it out. Called after not hearing from them and getting phone calls for collections. They said this would be the last extension because I had already been given a previous extension.

I went over the details on first extension and even showed where I made the required payment. They said they would check on it. Now after making another extension payment and signing forms it never shows up on their records. What a PITA this company is. They will not talk to you even though you are the spouse of the person who has the loan and that person gives permission for their spouse to be named on the loan so that a second person can speak for the first person if they are unable to.

I had horrendous experience with Ally bank last week, 5/23/2014. They are very unprofessional and outdated. I am a (legal) Immigrant with DHS Approved EAD card to work anywhere I want in US but this idiots won't open a checking account for Non-Citizens or non-Green Card holders, period. This is direct violation of Department of Homeland Security who issues the approval; but Ally bank clearly mentioned it that they can't open a checking account based on my legal status; which is complete BS. After applying, I had to call them everyday to get the status of the application. There is not even a confirmation of application from them to the registered email; which really made me to think about their procedure in first place.

Nevertheless, I had to call them 4 times in 3 days to get the status and finally they reject my application based on being an Immigrant; which is so ** inconceivable. First of all, this bank is a state-less bank and cannot be reached physically and only you can call them. Even with this big deficiency in their part, we (Immigrants who are over 40 Million) live in US try to give them business but this idiots kick us out ruthlessly. Please do not get trap into this ** and keep your money safe in some other bank which has good reputation, professional and is reachable.

Ally Financial are **. When you are behind in your payments and you make arrangements to pay the back payments they still come and repo your car anyway so that means they have your money and your car, go figure. And most of their representative have very very nasty attitudes and no hearts at all. Those who are very nasty do not want to work with you and don't care.

What's the purpose of making arrangements if they are going to do what they want anyway? I told them I would be able to pay them the back payments when a check I deposited cleared this week May 28, 2014. I woke up this morning and my car was gone. Whomever came to get it forcibly drug it out of the driveway at my son’s home. Their customer service really really really super really sucksssssssss!!!

GM is in big trouble with Ally Bank as their financing and leasing institution. Avoid Ally Bank like the plague when financing or leasing a new vehicle. If you MUST buy a GM vehicle, make financing or leasing arrangements with another bank, at all costs. Ally will bilk you for late fees if your payment is 1 day late. I was often hit for late fees when my payment was on-time or received ahead of time. Ally is defrauding their customers and they couldn't care less about retaining loyalty of GM's customers.

Their customer service is downright rude, and it's very rare that you'll land an English-speaking customer service rep when calling Ally for help. I turned in a GM lease through Ally a few years ago and they sent me a bill for $500 for a dent they found INSIDE the trunk. They also fabricated damages to the vehicle that weren't there when I turned it in. Good thing I took photos, took them to Court, and won handily. Avoid Ally Bank. They are atrocious, shady, and horrendous to deal with - we can only hope that Ally is in the news for Chapter 11 filings in the near future. Ally won't last, and neither will GM as long as Ally is their finance/lease company.

Be careful when depositing money with Ally Bank. I deposited a large sum into an Ally Bank CD. The CD matured and I wanted the interest put into my checking account. Not only did Ally not compute the interest correctly, it took Ally Bank almost 3 weeks to correct their error on the interest due but also took almost 3 weeks to get the money into my checking account. Ally's response after I pointed out their error on the interest - "We have to update our records". I HAVE CLOSED MY ACCOUNT WITH ALLY BANK. Do not trust this bank.

I suppose they had to get some extra money somewhere. My inspection report said, a remote was missing along with a headset. (everything was there) I even showed the car dealer as my witness. A minor tear and worn out spot in the leather seats and a scratch I was aware of. A total of $450.00. When I called and complained the guy really didn't care. Only deducted $100.00 for the headset and remote I said was there. It's all a game!

In late March 2014 I applied over the Internet for an account with Ally Bank. At the end of the application process I was asked to call the bank to answer a few additional questions. I did the following day. The representative gave me a 800 fax number and asked me to fax a copy of my driver license to that number using a transaction number. I did so the following day writing the reference number directly on the copy of my driver license. This was in early April 2014.

Ever since I have not heard from Ally Bank. My e-mail to their customer service remained without a reply. Approximately 10 days ago I sent another e-mail (via Ally web mail form) to the CEO of Ally with copies to another top executive listed on their website and to investors relations (for forwarding). Neither one of the recipients has found it necessary to respond to my message.

Considering that I am a potential customer with yet unknown resources, I find this attitude unacceptable, disrespectful and arrogant. Ally Bank is not better than any Mega Monster Bank when it comes to customer service.

Looks like GM is paying their debt off by stealing people's funds they deposit into an Ally Bank account. Ally Bank has no security measures and will deliberately make your social security and other personal information vulnerable to identity theft. Ally Bank sent me documents via an unsecure email that contained my full social security number. You'd think they'd have the intelligence to email me something that had my last 4 digits, but no. They had documents which in an email both on the internal email system and emailed to a Yahoo type account with MY FULL SOCIAL on it. When we complained about it they said absolutely nothing. After we complained, our account was blocked deliberately.

After we complained about having our social security number being sent via email Ally Bank, get this, wanted us to email a copy of our driver's licenses. Just after we complained about them emailing us documents with our full social security number on it. They refused to send documents via mail. They made up some lame ** excuse that the only way they'd confirm our identity was by emailing sensitive items via email. They will make every excuse possible to steal money. Luckily it was only $40, but GM is prob. going to use that and all the other funds they stole from others to pay their $ debt off. We've already contacted our legal department and they are going to file charges against them with the Attorney General's Office in PA and contact the SEC regarding their illegal activities.

I called Ally to find out what pay off was on 4/6//14, quote was good until 4/11/14. When I called again to find out how I could expedite paying off my car and get the title on 4/9/14 the quote went up. I was told that if I didn't want to wait the 10-14 business days for the payment to clear if I used a credit card/debit card/check over phone. They told me I had to send cash Western Union to be considered guaranteed funds. Interesting that a bank can process a card transaction within minuets to hours after a purchase, but they take 10 days to 2 weeks. So I sent the Expedited funds on 4/9/14, it is now 4/14/14 and they just processed the funds and have handed it over to the title department to process 2-3 business days so I can get my expedited title, might get it on 4/17/14. I had to create a FedEx account so that they would be able to send the title. It has cost me an additional $17 to use Western Union and have no clue what it will cost on FedEx. I hope they send it same day express like I required. But I doubt that they will. They seem to want to do it at their own speed and not follow my requests. I will never use Ally Financial services or any of their banking services again. I will request or find other ways of financing in the future.

I leased a Buick form the Buick dealer because they told me that the lease was the best and easiest way to do it. I turned in the car 6 days ago, 2 days before the end of the lease. I followed their procedure and got an odometer statement AND called Ally to tell them I turned it in and give them the details of where, when, who. It is supposed to be inspected within 24 hours. I called Ally twice to get status (they use the Philippines for call center). They make excuses like "I cannot find the dealer" or "It will be inspected and I will call you back". They never call back and I called today and complained politely and it was escalated to an American who did not even know their procedure - she said I was supposed to inspect the car with the dealer (not true, their printed materials say a third party will do it). These people have no clue what they are doing and this lease is now a major hassle.

I turned in my leased vehicle at the dealer 10 days ago. All the paperwork that Ally send you says the vehicle will be inspected within 4 days. Seeing it was not inspected yet, I called them. They said they just got the odometer reading yesterday and they will not send me an inspection report until it is sold at auction. I asked about the paperwork they send you saying it only takes 4 days. They did not know about it. They said they will send me an invoice for what is owed. The vehicle was returned well under the mileage limit and in perfect condition. The dealer who had an attitude because even they hate dealing with Ally said the vehicle was in mint shape. BUT I get nothing from them saying so, I have to trust Ally to send someone to get the car and cannot be present when the inspection is being completed; sounds a little suspicious to me and should be illegal!

As far as the customer service, it is always a horrible experience. No one talks or understands English and it seems like they just read scripts as several times I asked a question and they answer it with something unrelated; very frustrating. I, like most other people, will never lease another car with Ally. So I will see what Ally has to say about the car with their inspection; I took thorough photos AT THE DEALER when I returned the vehicle. I wonder what the Better Business Bureau says about them!! They should be investigated by the Banking Commission or Federal Trade Commission!!

I sent in my car payment 2 weeks early and paid additional money to go toward the principal. I had done this in the past but it was always posted to finance charge first. When I called about this they told me when I send additional money that I must send in a letter requesting that it be paid toward principal first. So every time I make a payment with additional monies over my regular payment I send in a note. This time I put a sticky note on my check telling them to post additional money to principal like I was advised to do. Well they scanned the check and tried to send it for payment to my bank WITH THE STICKY NOTE ON THE CHECK COVERING MY BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER!

I called Ally after noticing while I was balancing my checkbook that the check had not been cashed and it had been 2 weeks already. They told me that they had to reverse my payment because my bank account was frozen. I knew something was wrong at that point so I went to my bank. Nothing wrong with my account so my bank did an investigation and found the image of the check they were trying to process with the sticky note on it covering up the account number. I called Ally back and told them of THEIR ERROR, spoke to Executive customer relations (Hazel). She put me on hold, told me they still had my check and was going to remove the sticky note and submit it for payment. So now I think it's all set, they are going to correct their ridiculous mistake. She tells me that the payment should take 24 to 48 hrs to process.

Well 7 days later still has not cleared my bank account so I call executive customer relations AGAIN. Jean in that department says the request to process the payment was put in on April 5 but they have not received a response yet. I told her my initial call was on March 31, and Hazel told me on April 1 that the payment would be processed. She said there was nothing more that they could do. She could not provide me with a phone number to the payment processing department, OR a phone number to a corporate office or get a supervisor that was in charge... NOTHING. So I had no other choice but to put a payment on my credit card and be charged the fee of 8.50 because at this point they still have my check and who knows when they are going to try to process it thru my bank and can't risk an overdraft.

Imagine that, I pay 2 weeks early and more toward my principal and now have to make an ADDITIONAL payment so that my car payment isn't late. Please contact me if anyone is filing a suit against these people. I called my bank and asked if I could get a copy of the scan they received for payment and a letter stating why the payment could not be processed thru my bank. So I will have this to submit for complaint.

I've been with Ally Bank since it was GMAC Bank, and I'm consistently impressed with the services and customer service. Although interest rates are pretty low everywhere right now, Ally is always competitive if not the best for Savings and Money Market rates. The web interface is clean and intuitive. You can break up your account into separate accounts, easily transfer money in and out of the account, and overall they just make everything really easy to do by keeping it simple. Until they do me wrong, I highly recommend Ally Bank as a secondary banking account (not primary because there is no in-person banking).

When you do make arrangements to pay, they ask you why you were behind. Then, you explain to them what the situation is. Then, they remind you that they will be calling again in 3 days to follow up. This takes place with every phone call and it seems like you get a new representative each time because they ask the same annoying questions. Finally, I had to tell them I am blocking their number on my phone because I am not going to be subject to their annoying requests like this. This is harassment! If I tell them when I am going to make the payment, why do they insist on calling again and asking again! I reminded them that my situation does not change. Then, they have the nerve to ask me to find another way to come up with the money before my promised date. They do this because they think it's a unique question so it doesn't make it seem like they are harassing you. Yet, it is! They know full well what my situation is, it's their way of annoying you into being on time with your car payments which is completely unfair when you have no control. I went ahead and paid it in full. The next day I had a balance of $623.99. I called to ask them why they tacked on an extra $623.99 and they said that was taxes. Then they stated that to pay it in full I would owe $656.20, not $623.99. I advised them that this was not truth in lending to keep on changing the amount owed & tacking on charges that was not reflecting it in my current balance that was stated online & was a deceptive practice and fraud. I said that I would go ahead and pay it and they said the only way for me to pay it was online or they would transfer me to Western Union for a fee & that I would have to pay it online to avoid fees; they could not take my payment over the phone.

I recently opened a checking account with Ally. I was attracted to what they offer in contrast with the more traditional banks, it seemed like a very customer-centric bank and I thought I'd give them a try. I had problems making a direct deposit when opening my account, it was going to be only $20 since I wanted to receive my card in the mail and everything before I made a significant deposit. The website told me the account couldn't be verified, this is the first time this happens and I've done the same in other instances. I had a lot going on and didn't call until a few days later.

Today I spoke with a representative and I forget his name, but he was extremely courteous and explained what would happen very well. Later I got a call from Leslie ** (Loss Prevention) who didn't really let me talk or explain my situation, she seemed to be rushing to get off the phone, requested proof of identity and address. I explained what I would send and asked her to email me where I could send this info. She asked if I didn't have a pen with an attitude like this was too much effort and promptly disconnected.

She did email me the info, but when I tried accessing the account online I saw my access was blocked which was never explained to me that would happen. She also said my bank account was inactive which it isn't, it's my primary checking where all the money goes and all my bills are paid from. Now I'm really doubting that I'll ever deposit any money into the account or verify my info, it simply wasn't a good experience for someone who's eager to do business with them. My issue was, "Hey, I want to put some money in your hands!" I wasn't even asking anything from them.

Truly horrible experience with this so-called bank. Their customer service is overseas, I found it nearly impossible to understand them and they did not understand me. How can you have customer service like that!! Even their own employees admit the customer service is horrible. As my car is leased with them, when I get a toll violation, it gets sent to them instead of my home. This happened in the last few months, and as they did send a letter stating such a violation, they did not disclose all the information so that it could be paid. I made a call to customer service who stated someone would get back to me within 24-48 hours. That never happened, so I assumed the toll letter was a mistake.

Recently I received another letter from them, this time with the actual notices issued by my state attached. Well, at this point, the fines were overdue with $300 fines attached because they were due weeks ago. Ally held onto this information for a month or more before they sent it to me. I, otherwise, have no way of knowing what they are. When I called customer service again, the person I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about and gave me information I knew was wrong. They sent this to their violations department who advised me to call my state's office and explain the situation, and that the fines attached would probably be dropped.

Why should I have to do this when it was clearly their fault. Nonetheless, I did, and I was informed that at this point I had to go to court because these were so overdue. When I called Ally back to explain, I was told it should not be a big deal to go to court. Like heck it is not, I work during the day; they should have paid those charges because of their inadequacy to do business correctly. I asked to speak to someone higher up; no one ever called me back. Now I am stuck. Truly unfair. The person I spoke to last admitted it was wrong, but how about someone doing something about it. I, therefore, turned in my car, paid the rest of the lease, and went to a different company to lease a vehicle. I will never deal with them again.

I was driving a gas hog (Chevy 4x4, large V8)... stopped at Cowboy's Auto in Lumberton, Texas. I had no idea until later that I had a credit rating of somewhat less than 800. I assumed they would give me the best finance rate they could, because I explained I was a 100 percent disabled veteran (Vietnam), so I didn't have a truck full of money. I was wrong. It started out with being financed with GMAC (6/18/2010) for the amount of $14,163.10. This was a 2006 Ford F-150 with no cruise or power anything. A simple single-cab pickup with a radio and a small V6.

Now, fast forward to Jan. 21, 2014. The unpaid balance (payoff) is $6620.65. I asked them back in October what would be the pay-off if I simply paid cash and paid off the balance completely. The nice lady said it would be the same amount if I paid the notes another year or two (i.e. the balance would be the same.....the interest would stay the same amount and would not change)! I got more respect from the North Vietnamese than from Ally. I didn't think this was legal, but was told it is what it is. I signed it, I pay whatever they say it is. I wish now I would have stayed in Vietnam. Better treatment than from these barbarians that call themselves a loan/finance company. Thanks for listening,

I tried using the automated phone system, but the system did not recognize my information, so I had to wait until the next business day and call back and speak to a customer service rep. I was told that "rest assured" I would receive a payoff notice in the mail, in about 3 business days. I was also told that I still needed to cancel my automatic payments, or they would withdraw funds from my account on my regularly scheduled payment date! So, if your account is paid off, they'll knock you out of the system, but not enough to stop taking your money?!?! Wow! Considering they are an "online only" bank, this is absolutely absurd!

Needless to say, this company is by far the worst auto lender that I have ever had dealings with. I've financed several vehicles, never had trouble paying at all, and have never dealt with a worse one than them. After reading, I see my story is similar to the rest. Needless to say my spouse and I both went through brief periods of reduced income and unemployment, they have been unwilling to even try to work with us, being extremely rude in the process. The first time that I got behind, I scavenged what money that I could, including what was left in my TSP (Government retirement fund) which was comprised of my combat pay for 18 months that I served on the ground in Iraq, and to call back and they would give me a deferment. I did everything that they asked me to, I called the agent's direct extension, and she was never around, and then I called another agent who came back with "Oh well, you're not eligible at this time." WTF?!?! I did everything that I was asked to.

After making several partial payments until I got my second job back, I come to find out that my account had been charged off as a loss and that they either want the total balance (which is an astronomical number, or the vehicle back). Again, WTF?!?! I have filed complaints with the BBB and CFPB, but it doesn't look like it's going to do any good, since they are taking their sweet ** time to respond, I really don't know who these people think they are to blow off a government organization, and respond on THEIR time, and use their harassing and improper collection practices to harass people. Now they are threatening to repossess my truck, and take me to court but I refuse to give up a vehicle that I sunk my whole life savings and $3,500.00 into. This is completely ** up, these people need to be called on their deceptive business practices and it makes me sick that I went to war for this country, when we have domestic terrorists like this company ** military personnel and their families over!!!

Ally Bank had misplaced my payment that was sent electronically from my bank account to theirs, that is next day delivery. And sent my husband's Jeep into collections. Collections sent to repossession company. Once Ally realized their mistake they claimed they called and cancelled the repossession company order. Advanced Associates Recovery out of Benton Harbor, MI came on a cancelled order and picked up my Jeep. The Jeep had not been in default and they came and repossessed it anyway. The repossession man was very nice and I showed him my payments to Ally and said there is a mistake. He said yes there is and you can call them in the morning since it is closed. He had no paperwork to show us and let us clean out of Jeep and said you can come pick it back up when Ally realized their mistake. Which tells me he had the cancellation order in hand but wanted to get paid anyway.

I ended up calling the police and telling them what had happened and filed a stolen vehicle police report and called Ally in the morning. The Impound team at Ally stated that they did not have my vehicle up for repossession. That the car should not have been repossessed, that there was a mistake and payment had been posted and orders cancelled. They did not know where my Jeep was and that I had to talk to another rep. So after being transferred around many times, I spoke to another rep that did say that the orders were cancelled and that it was a mistake and that the company came and picked up my Jeep at their own will. I had to pay fee and that I should go pick up my Jeep. I should not have to pay his towing fee or go get my Jeep, they should bring it back to me. I am ready to call the police in MI to check on this company.

DO I LAWYER UP NOW OR SEE WHAT THE SAY ABOUT THE DAMAGE? This is emailed to the CEO of Ally, Michael A. Carpenter, and President of Ally Auto Finance, Tim Russi: My name is David... I am a disabled veteran and have fallen on hard times due to my service connected injury. I have had 3 back surgeries in the last 3 years and fell behind on my payments. I was 2 months late in making the payments on my vehicle but I did make arrangements to have a payment drafted from my account prior to the 3rd payment being late. This was agreed to by your rep and I was informed the payment would be taken and accepted on 12-20-13. This was confirmed by Marquis on 12/30/2013 when I called about the repossession.

The payment was never withdrawn and there was not even an attempt by Ally to withdraw the money from the account. My vehicle was repossessed on 12/30/13. Due to the neglect on the part of Ally in regards to not accepting payment, the vehicle was repossessed on 12-30-2013. I called immediately and informed the representative that I intend to recover the vehicle prior to the deadline of 1-15-2014. I contacted the overseas rep (USELESS) on 1-5-13 and informed her I will have the funds by 1-10-13 and she informed me the vehicle is fine. I have been trying to contact the redemption unit since 7:00 am on 1-10-2014 to pay the amount needed to recover the truck but was on hold a total of 7 hours on 1-10-14. The line would be on hold and then pick up and hang up without notice.

I continued to call and the same thing would happen throughout the day. This morning, 1-13-14, I called at 7:00 and finally spoke to someone at 8:45 at which time he, Dennis from the overseas call center, informed me that I will have to call back at 9:00 so he can get the payoff amount. I called back @ 9:00 and was on hold until 10:00 when I spoke to another overseas rep. She informed me of the amount and I have the cash in hand ready to send it via Money-gram. I asked for a break down that includes the additional charges to be faxed to me so I will know what I am paying for and have the paperwork to cover myself and for my records, which I do when sending money anywhere. She refused and said I already have the paperwork showing there may be additional amounts incurred. I simply asked for the information in writing with the additional charges and she refused again.

I inquired about the location of the vehicle and she gave me a number to a location. She informed me this is the central location of the auction house. I asked if this is where the vehicle is and she didn't know. I asked her again to fax the requested information on the total amount to pay and she refused. I asked if she is refusing to fax it and she said she is not allowed. At this point, I asked to speak to her supervisor again and she said there isn't one there. I informed her I want to speak to the next in command and she put me on hold. She came back on and informed me no one is available. I informed her that I want a return call from someone asap. She said they are not allowed to call out from this location and can not allow this. I demanded at this point to speak to someone and he asked me to hold again.

While on hold, I called the auction house in Moody, AL. I spoke to Lisa there. She informed me the truck is there and is ready to go on the auction block. I informed her that the paperwork I have from Ally says I have until the 15th to get the truck back and I asked why it was moved from The Long Beach Auto Auction in Long Beach, MS to Moody, AL, 8 hours away. She informed me the truck should not have been moved until 1-15-2014. She informed me the tag is not on the vehicle and is in Long Beach, MS with the original towing company. A lady, Ronda, came on my line again and said she is in a stateside escalation location and informed me that the supervisor here is on another line and asked how she could assist.

I informed her that my request to have the total amount owed and a breakdown faxed was refused and I would like to have this today so I can pay Ally for my vehicle. She said this is a supervisor question. I also asked about why the vehicle was sent to another state to a second auction house, 8 hours away. I informed her that the truck was stored at the Long Beach Auto Auction when All-star Recovery obtained the vehicle from me. She looked in the file and informed me this was not supposed to have happened and there was a mistake in transport. She informed me that the supervisor will have to handle this call and she transferred me to a VM. This was at 10:15 am and it is now 12:15 pm. I have not heard anything from Ally and would like to pay for the vehicle before any additional charges are incurred.

That evening, I went up the chain even further. I emailed the President of Ally Auto Finance and the CEO of Ally again. I still never heard anything. I called my customer service rep that I had been dealing with prior to repo and he was not happy. He got his supervisor on the phone and she listened to my information. She was pissed that this happened and asked if she could call me back. SHE DID and was very helpful. She got the AMERICAN rep in redemption escalation center on the phone. It was the same lady I spoke to that morning. I informed her that I never heard from her supervisor and she surprisingly tried to help. She crawfished the entire time and finally agreed to send me the letter. (The entire time the supervisor from the customer service unit was on the line and listening.)

I paid and had to drive to North Alabama to get the truck. When I get there to get my truck, I was doing a walk around with the auction employee and noticed a large scratch and dent. I went further and see for some reason the transport company put a strap over the fiberglass painted tonneau cover to hold it down and severely damaged the top with the tension handle as well as scratching the bed on both sides and both rear fender flares. There was trans fluid dripping on the grill and damaged it; the pass front door handle was broken off; the tailgate was dented in 3 places and there is damage to the driver's mirror. The supervisor and manager of the auction house came out and they said this happens to almost all Ally vehicles that are sent to their auction.

The manager told me that not many people come get their Ally vehicle once they are at the Birmingham auction. I told him the story and he was not surprised. They were very helpful and even called Ally and informed them the vehicle was damaged in transit to the auction. I was given the email address and number to call when the email was sent. I took 50 pictures and they did as well. The tow company in Long Beach had circled damage they saw prior to transport and all the damage noticed was NOT circled. I am in the process of emailing the info now. DO I LAWYER UP NOW OR SEE WHAT THE SAY ABOUT THE DAMAGE?

I currently have an auto loan with Ally Bank and have been prepaying this account in order to reduce the total amount of the principal and interest I would have to pay. However, I do not believe that this bank is reducing the amount of the principal balance each time I make an overpayment. For example, my scheduled payment for 11/13/13 was $248.49 against which I made a payment for $300. As a result, I would expect the principal balance amount of the loan to be reduced by $52.06. So, even though I am prepaying the loan, it appears that they are not reducing the principal balance of the loan to reflect the additional payment over and above the scheduled payment amount. It appears that they are attempting to front load the interest charges regardless of how much extra money I pay to reduce the principal balance.

They claim we owe $1400 and yet we have had ZERO communication from them about our supposed delinquency. Being military, my husband was threatened with his chain of command getting involved and the sheriffs arriving on our door. I refused to relinquish our vehicle until Ally can show where our payments have gone.

The only payment they are missing, is December's, which they have locked us out of our account to even pay. Our credit union told us they tried to draw a payment out 9 days early (that account was closed due to fraudulent internet charges and someone having our account and routing number). I am not sure what legal recourse I have, but until they show where my funds went, I refuse to hand over a vehicle I've been paying on. To sum up what transpired besides ongoing and consistent poor customer service, Ally Financial representatives negatively affected my credit twice. Once without notifying me about not receiving a payment, and then a second time after a contractual agreement for an extension due to the missed payment. This agreement was supposed to put 2 payments at the end of my loan even though I made 2 payments (just made them late), and was allegedly effective immediately after my paying a minimum of $265; this was also supposed to prevent negative history being reported to the credit bureaus.

Well, Ally not only took my payment of $399.90 (because I wanted to pay the full missed payment plus late fees...trying to be honest), but they neglected to send me proof of the extension, repeatedly placed me on hold when I tried to get proof, and then STILL reported me to the credit bureaus despite being granted an extension and taking my money. This is all after they had me waiting to sign paperwork for the extension. After numerous calls, they finally informed me that in Maryland paperwork is not required. The representative who informed me of not having paperwork also misinformed me regarding the terms of the extension. She later corrected herself after I summarized the terms of the extension for her.

This has to be the worst company ever. Inflated rates, high monthly payments, poor customer service, broken agreements and promises and agents that don't understand the nature of their own business and don't understand or even know what you are saying half the time that you are communicating with them. I would not recommend that anyone does business with Ally Financial. Look for a credit union or smaller financial institution that has morals, values and halfway care about their customers.

Horrid Experience. When I met with the representative at the Cadillac dealership for financing, I asked him specifically if over payments would be credited monthly towards principal reduction and he replied, "Yes". They are NOT. In order to take more of the customer’s money, Ally simply takes the overage off of the next payment, allowing them to make more interest on the loan, a lot more interest! This is NOT what was represented and it's a racket. If you call every single month and ask for the overage to be credited towards the principal, they will. There is a long hold time and then a lengthy period getting an operator the info they want and completing the process. They ask while on "ignore" if you'd like to take a survey at the end and even though I always say yes, I am again put on hold and after a period of time, disconnected. A SHAM.

Customer Service at Ally Financial advised that I send my auto loan pay-off amount of $10,292.30 via a Cashier's check to ensure that the check is cleared within 2-3 business days. A personal check or online payment will take up to 10 days to process. I decided to send a cashier's check because I found a buyer for my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee but needed to pay off the loan so I would no longer be tagged as the lien holder. I wanted to ensure that the process would be completed quickly.

A cashier's check was created at my bank, meaning the funds were withdrawn from my personal account and no longer held by me. The check was sent via USPS certified mail for tracking purposes to the Ally Financial Payment Processing Center. The USPS certified mail tracking showed that the check was delivered on November 1st. I called almost everyday since November 1st to find the status of my account. The customer service always stated that the check was not received and I should call back in 24-48 hours.

On November 13th, after several attempts for a status update, and after threatening to file a complaint about the firm, I was transferred over to the Executive Customer Relations department. This department went back to the Payment Department and then told me that I should send over a fax with a copy of my check, some detail on the situation, and any other relevant information. Then told me to call back within 24-48 hours. The customer service representative also gave me the extension number of the woman on the case from the Payment Department. This upset me because I should have been asked to send a fax much earlier in the process since it has now been 13 days since the facility received my check. The representative in the Executive Customer Relations department also gave me her name and agent ID and said I could call back and ask for her. After faxing the check, I tried to follow-up with the Payment Department a few times and left a voicemail but my call was never picked up, or returned.

On November 14th, I called Ally again and asked to be transferred to the Executive Customer Relations Department. Then I asked to be transferred to the agent I had worked with the prior day. The representative told me that this would not be possible due to the lack of extension numbers, and large call volume. I had to re-explain my situation and she went back to the Payment Department while I was on hold. She then came back to me and told me that the Payment Department is not picking up the phone and therefore not in the office. She then mentioned that my fax was received but was not sent to the payment department directly (I guess I was not given the payment department fax number). She let me know that the fax was forwarded to the payment department and then, as per usual, told me to call back after 24-48 hours. It has now been 2 weeks since Ally has received by cashier's check. These are my current issues:

    1) I am now short $10,292.30 in my bank account.
    2) I have lost my check because Ally cannot find it.
    3) I cannot cancel this check because cashier's checks can only be cancelled after 90 days of issuance.
    4) I have an upcoming Ally monthly payment of $369 due on December 7th.

    5) I have lost the buyer for my car.

She says, "You need to call your family or friends and ask them to give you money to pay your bill". I then told her I would be setting up a payment for Friday which is 2 days from now. I opened an online checking account with Ally Bank in 2013. I deposited two checks, one for $2500.00 (refund from a car sales lot), the other $860.00 (from an employer). This account was supposed to be a savings account, so I set my account alerts to "notify me when my account balance reaches 3000+". I received the alert about two weeks later. Months go by and I try to log on. Could not access my account. I then called Ally and was directed to Loss Prevention. I was told I had to provide proof of address and identification. I did this SEVERAL times and was finally told by NADIA (Loss Prevention) that my checks bounced. I contacted both issuers of my deposits and both verified (showed proof) that the funds were not returned.

After SEVERAL weeks of not getting any response from Ally Bank, NADIA comes up with a new allegation. She then tells me that the $860.00 check is in my account but they are trying to return it. I have contacted my old employer about this issue and she says that account is closed and she has heard nothing of the sort. Looks like Loss Prevention is more like loss intention! I will do as much as I can legally informing ALL people that care to listen to my experience. My next step is complaints with the BBB and then the FTC. I have requested proof from Ally and all I have gotten is no access and no response. Since they are an "online bank", there are NO physical branches to walk into.

Today I called to see what steps I would have to take to start doing direct deposit from work and the CSA could not verify my birth date and asked me to fax a copy of my driver's license. I was told I would get a call in a few hours. No one called. When I got off work, I called them back and asked them what was going on and the rep told me, "Some guy in the department gets the faxes and then calls you in about a week". Word for word. Apparently their security team consist of "some guy" and a very slow fax machine. I got angry and asked to talk to her manager, who was less than helpful and told me that I had to wait for manager from their escalation team to call me in one to two days.

So I went from "Will call you in a few hours" to "Some guy will call you in a week" and then to "It takes one to two days for someone to talk to you." Really? You are a 24-hour bank and I have to sit around and wait for your manager to clock in to get a resolution? The reps seemed like they were winging it and making up policy as they go along. Now, because I made a mistake and trusted a few good reviews, I'm out $500 with bills to pay. There is zero sense of urgency to resolve issues and no professionalism with the phone reps. I'm going to post this review all over the internet and do everything I can to keep people from making the same mistake I did.

I've gotten a 2013 Dodge Dart sometime in September this year and I start payments on October 24, 2013. I've gotten mail from the Ally Bank whom I am leasing from on how to set up my account. On the same day, I set up my account so that I can pay my payments. I set it up as auto-pay so that it'll be easier for me to pay it on time. With that said, on October 24th, I paid my first payment for October, which it didn't work. I do not know why. So, I tried again at midnight and it worked for some oddly reason. So time goes by and I decided to go onto my email to check my emails. I came across Ally sent me an email with regards to my payment. It said that it couldn't go through due to me not having proof of me having an account through them (?) when obviously I do? They also said that the routing number from my actual bank that I go to, was incorrect when it's not.

So I logged into the Ally Bank, and apparently I owed them 629 dollars when I shouldn't owe them that much, so I decided to log into my bank to see if they pull it out of my saving and they didn't. The car payment was still in my savings. So, I decided to pay it again, and it's "processing", but now it's saying I owe them $659.02? Again, doesn't make any sense on how I owed them that much. While I was still logged in, I decided to look into my history payments, and it said on OCTOBER 24TH that the TOTAL was paid on the 25th of October. So how do I owe this much? I don't know. Anyways, then I looked around some more on the main page, saying the payment is received on October 25th and yet when I looked at the transaction, it's saying November 24 cancelled which that is my next payment is due. This is ALL confusing me and it's pissing me off, cause I never had any problems paying my bills on time.

We have leased SIX vehicles in the past nine years (through GMAC). They have been positive experiences and great deals. Until Ally took over. We have never owed anything when we turned a car in - NEVER! However, when we turned a car in this past summer the Ally representative was awful. We had had the authorized service center in our town look at the car and do any minor repairs that he suggested so that there would be no problem when we turned it in. We were also 13,000 miles under the requirement. SURPRISE! They billed us over $1,000 and said that the body repair work was not good. IT WAS THEIR AUTHORIZED REPAIR CENTER! We disputed the charge and were turned over to their "asset recovery unit."

That department was rude, arrogant, demeaning and cowardly. My husband spoke mostly with someone named David. He was sarcastic, ugly, rude and unprofessional. What they don't know is that our family is in the car business and my husband has already kept Ally Financial from getting several deals and we will do everything we can NEVER to lease from them again and also keep everyone we can from leasing from them as well. Beware - Ally expects a leased vehicle after 39 months to have no wear and tear. No dents, no scratches - it must look like brand new or they will screw you to the wall in fees and then treat you like trash!

I chose Ally because of the good interest rates and low fees and have been pleased with this. However, Ally has an ongoing problem with their online deposit system. Often the response to a deposit is that it cannot be processed but a reason is not given, but when attempting to make the deposit again, it says this cannot be done because the check has already been deposited. Often, it is impossible to get the online deposit system to appropriately orient a check: turning it sideways and making it impossible to crop to comply with their standards.

While it is random, I encounter these problems for about 25% of my deposits, with it sometimes taking an hour to deposit 4 checks. I have filed a complaint, with the only response being, "Sorry for the inconvenience." As this is unacceptable, I raised the issue of closing my CDs. The response is that even though they are not complying with their contractual obligation to be able to conveniently make online deposits, they will enforce the contractual obligation that I forfeit 60 days of interest.

45 days ago, I purchased a new vehicle to take advantage of lower financing rates. I traded in my 2011 GM that was lease d through Ally. Basically no problem. My dealer contacted Ally, got the pay off and we proceeded with the sale. Approximately 30 days after the sale, I received a collections letter from Ally. Confused, I called Ally who informed me that I hadn't made a payment and my account was delinquent. I explained what had transpired, the agent thanked me for bringing the matter to their attention and said it would be taken care of. The next day I start receiving automated collection calls from Ally.

Called Ally the next day (call-2), spoke to Bernadette who told me the payoff hadn't been received and that I should contact the dealer. I called the dealer, found out everything was sent to Ally and the payoff check was cashed by Ally on the 15th of the month. Called Ally (call-3), talked to Dean, who said the check was not received. I gave him the correct information, he immediately changed his story and said the check was received but they did not receive the mileage statement and couldn't terminate my lease. I called my new dealer and gave them this new found information. My dealer had overnighted the sale documents as well as faxing them, received confirmation of delivery.

I called Ally again (call-4). Spoke to Maria who again told me they didn't receive the documents. I asked Maria to simply call my dealer and discuss what they needed in order to resolve the issue. Maria told me that they could not call the dealer and the dealer would have to call them. I called my dealer, gave them the news and the dealer service phone number. The dealer called Ally (call-5). They said it would take 24 to 48 hrs to verify receipt of the documents but wouldn't comment on the fact that they had the documents a week prior. Guess what? I continue to get collection calls.

I called Ally again (call-6), talked to Roberta (sounded a lot like Maria). Again I'm told they didn't get the documents. I asked them why did they cash the check and why didn't they call my dealer for any missing documents. They told me, "Sorry, we can't terminate the lease without the documents". It was like I was talking to a human computer. No resolution, still getting calls, sent a hard copy letter and Ally threatens to send negative information to the credit bureau. This seems like some sort of grand scheme to cheat consumers out of bogus payments or service charges. Let's talk class action suit!

I am looking for a class action attorney to represent what I estimate hundreds of millions of dollars in undisclosed fees collected by Ally Financial. My wife leased a 2010 Chevy Equinox from Burt Chevrolet in Denver on September 25th 2009, which was purchased in an asset sale by John Elway Chevrolet. We negotiated both the purchase price and the lease terms yet the lease still seemed very high and it was explained to us by Henry Clarke (still there) that it was due to the financial crisis of the times. Her credit scores were above 740 and we have made every payment on time with Ally Financial. The lease expired on Sept. 25th of 2013 and we decided to purchase the car outright for the residual value as stated in the contract.

Upon contacting Ally Financial, they said they are no longer involved in the lease and you must contact YOUR Chevy dealer where you originally leased the vehicle. We contact Elway Chevrolet and they told us the payoff of the lease was $2500.00 above residual value stated in the lease of $10,728.00 approximately. I pointed out to the John Elway Sales Manager (Scott) that according to documents that I had in my possession, the payoff would be the residual value. He looked it up and AGREED with me on that amount. He looked further at the handwritten lease contract and said that it is showing a $13,228.00 payoff and Ally Financial often does an undisclosed buyout fee of $2500.00. Scott said he rarely used Ally Financial because of this fee which upset customers like myself. He suggested I contact Ally Financial again.

My wife contacted Ally Financial on 3 occasions and they would not even speak to her and said it is out of their hands, you must contact a dealer. I personally contacted Jeremy **, the finance manager at John Elway Chevrolet for a copy of the lease and he sent a barely legible copy of a handwritten lease begrudgingly. When we spoke and I pointed out the residual value on the lease, he stated, "You agreed to pay $13,228.00 in spite of the residual value being $10,728.00 and that is your problem." I explained that the fee was not disclosed and with most leasing outfits, you can make an outright purchase of the vehicle at lease end for residual value. He agreed but said, "She signed it, nothing I can do."

I explained that not only is this egregious but the license fee and taxes will be on the higher amount as well which will end up costing us about an additional $240.00 that are fraudulent. Jeremy replied, "It is what it is, I have customers that I need to help and you can turn it in or pay the full amount and hung up on me". I was flabbergasted that he was the second John Elway Chevrolet employee to admit that there was an Undisclosed Lease Buyout fee of $2500.00 and had zero concern about customer service. My wife emailed Jeremy on Saturday, Sept. 21st, 2013, at approximately 3:49 PM and asked him to either scan, fax and please send a legible hard copy of the lease to our home residence for review. Jeremy replied by email, "It is Saturday and our business office is closed on Saturday but I can send it out on Monday." Which she replied was fine but it is curious that the dealership is open on Saturdays to 7:00 PM and I bet still selling cars and writing loans and leases. Nonetheless it is now Friday, Sept. 27th, 2013, and we have received nothing from John Elway Chevrolet, nor Ally Financial.

We visited another dealership on Sept 21st, 2013, where the finance manager couldn't have been more helpful. His entire team reviewed the barely legible handwritten lease, and first pointed out that he was surprised and wasn't even sure it was legal to not have a computer generated lease with amounts typed into the lease in the State of Colorado. Furthermore, he stated Ally Financial is known for this type of fraudulent activity but he would speak to his Ally representative later this week. The manager followed through but said the rep was extremely unhelpful and when pointed out the residual value, would only reply well, they agreed to pay the $13,228.00 and that the buyout fee is not disclosed in their leases. I offered to pay the $10,728.00 plus dealer prep fees, taxes and license fees to this dealer and put the $2500.00 in a legal escrow account for dispute. He thought I could do that but that I would still be charged the $25.00 per day fee for not paying the full amount. He did negotiate an additional 7 days without penalties.

I am not a lawyer but believe that this undisclosed fee amounts to fraudulent activity by Ally Financial and collaborated by John Elway Chevrolet and in my opinion happened to thousands of consumers that leased a vehicle from John Elway Chevrolet during the periods of 2008-2013 and may still be practiced today. Furthermore, it is my belief that hundreds of thousands, if not in the millions of leases generated by Ally Financial across the United States represent a class of hundreds of millions of dollars and maybe even in the billions on top of the unnecessary taxes, license fees that were collected by dealership across the country. I am available to speak to any class action attorney that would be interested in exploring or pursuing this matter.

This bank, and I use the term lightly, is a joke! This evening I called Ally for a lease payoff on my 2011 Buick LaCrosse. The first part of the joke starts out with the phone recording. It went a little something like this, "We are currently experiencing a higher than normal call volume, you may want to hang up and call back later". Really! Are you kidding me with this statement? I have never heard of a customer service center (again, I use the term very lightly) telling a paying customer to "hang up" and call back later because they are too busy to handle your request at the moment. What made that statement interesting was the fact that the representative answered my call within 30 seconds of hearing this message! So, they were experiencing a higher than normal call volume? Hmmm... Okay!

So I proceed to ask the representative (who I could barely understand, due to his broken English) for a payoff on my lease account as I am trading in my Buick for a new vehicle. He paused for a minute, then said, "You'll have to have the dealership call our finance department that handles trade-ins for a payoff". Okay, that is not an unreasonable request. At this point, I am still not certain "why" I cannot just get a payoff on the lease. I then ask, "Can I just get the payoff on the vehicle as if I were purchasing it?" He paused again with uncertainty in his voice. Once he finally decided to speak, he said, "I'll have to send this to our loan payoff processing team".

You have to send my request to a loan payoff processing team? I said, "Great, go ahead and transfer me and I'll get it taken care of". He then tells me that they would have to call me back, and asked for a good contact number. I was shocked at this point. I have to be called back in order to receive a simple payoff on my lease? Not to mention, they have 24-48 hours to get back to you with this utterly simple calculation! So I am supposed to wait 24-48 hours for some super payoff processing guru to call me back? This is an ABSOLUTE JOKE, Ally! Get it together!

I then ask to speak to a supervisor. This would be the biggest part of the JOKE! This person couldn't manage to turn on a light switch, let alone a team full of "order takers". She proceeded to explain the same sad story that was explained in the previous paragraph. At least, I think this is what she was saying - I could not understand her either! Once she had finished giving me the "company line" for anyone requesting a payoff, I became numb. I have NEVER heard of a financial institution that cannot provide a customer with such a simple request. It's a relatively simple calculation, that I will just go ahead and do myself - god forbid Ally lift a finger to go out of the way for a paying customer.

The painful reality, I was going to trade in this Buick and my Volkswagen for (2) brand new GM vehicles today. These (2) new GM vehicles would be financed through Ally Bank's Leasing department. Those of you who do not know, GM Motor Finance is now, you guessed it Enemy, I mean Ally. I just called the dealership and said the deal is off for the two cars! I can no longer, in good faith, do business with such an incompetent partner in the banking world. In closing, I would say that I have never had a pleasant experience when calling this place. Ally, you should stick to what you know best. Which is begging for people's money by paying them a higher rate than the next guy! You have no business trying to finance vehicles. Thanks for making this a MISERABLE car buying experience!

I purchased a car in 2009 and it was financed through GMAC. Next thing I know ALLY took over. In later part of 2010 I moved to another address and it was updated and all statements were coming to the address. In February of 2012, I contacted them and told them I could no longer make the payments and my only source of income is SSI. They asked if I knew anyone who could help me make payments, I said absolutely no one. After speaking to my son, he said he would be interested in the car so I contacted ALLY and they were going to do a transfer of equity at the cost of 150.00. I filled out all paper work as did my son but nothing came through. Someone spoke to us from Ally, told him he could go ahead and make payments and drive it, and within 6 months it would be transferred in his name. Mind you, he caught up the two payments I was behind on plus asked for an extension which cost him another 100.00 or so. He continued making payments and I would call and ask again this past April where was the transfer. I was told "We're sorry it was not done properly." We will have to do it again.

By this time I am livid. No papers ever came to my address or his and the car still remained in my name. Finally in May, I told him just stop making payments as obviously they don't know what they're doing and we are getting nothing but the runaround. They were calling him numerous times each day as well as me. I told them in July "Just take the car back, I'm tired of being scammed by you." I never got any papers in my mail and on the 19th or 20th of August 2013 got a call from Ally and this person stated she had talked to my son and told me "You can sell that car and make money". I said, "Excuse me, you have the title not me and you never transferred it in my son's name." She claimed all letters were being returned at his address. I said that is not true. She read off all three addresses to me and when I told her the one address was correct for me as that's where I always have lived since 2010 and that's where my statements came, she said, "That's not possible."

I said, "Lady, in 2010 I was making the payments. Just where in the world then do you think they came from?" She read off my son's address which was correct. When she had spoken to my son that day, he told her, "You get things straight on your end and the transfer and I will pay the car off." She told completely different story to me asking me to sell the car?? Well for someone that claimed my son's address was incorrect the repo crew had no trouble finding it on the 23rd of August. Amazing if I don't have address I told her was correct the plates and registration is my address and my name. So I called them today because certified letters are going to my son's address but in my name which of course no one will sign. When I called, as usual a non-English speaking person told me after asking my address and I told him said, "Oh we don't have that address on file". I said, "Amazing because I'm sure the repo people seen registration and it sure doesn't show any address but mine because you people never lived up to your end of agreement letting someone else pay for a car out of their bank account not mine and never transferring it over."

He said he was not at liberty to give out Repo dept number. I told him I intended to report them for their rather unethical issues such as numerous fees for transfer that did not happen as well as fees for an extension. I said, "By the way, I am only on SSI and you can not touch my money." He said, "I will forward this to the repo dept and I have correct address on file now".... Talk about a mess and I might add most from their customer service are very rude! I even asked today how do I get to talk to someone really in Ally office. I said I have asked in the past and was always hung up on or put on hold until disconnected... He said, "Only way to talk to anyone is through our call center." I have no clue what to expect from them next and I am very ill and only have SSI as stated above but as far as I'm concerned, this company is a bunch of crooks and really people need to file a class action lawsuit on them for their unethical fees and lies. I say steer as far away as you can from this company as obviously they don't even believe you when you tell them your address. I truly wish Ally never took over for GMAC.

I had an auto loan with GMAC which was taken over by Ally Financial. In July of 2011, I was unable to make a full car payment due to being laid off. I called Ally right away before payment was due and explained my situation, but they would not help me. I sent $100.00 instead of the payment amount of $287.00 in July and August. I only had a remaining balance of $750.00 on a $20,000 car loan. I was contacted by their "In House" collection department in August stating they would come and take the car unless I made payments. I told them I had made "good faith" payments of $100 those two months. It was unacceptable to them. I made payment arrangements with them which spanned three months to pay off the car.

I paid the car off in 1 1/2 months and was told I would receive my title from Ally. I did receive the title to my surprise, but my credit report now reflected CHARGE OFF! Unbelievable! I wrote Ally, wrote the three credit reporting agencies and even the Better Business Bureau and no one did anything! My credit is ruined! AND on top of it, when I filed complaint with the BBB, Ally Financial told them I never made the $100 payments! This company is a nightmare!!! I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere if possible.

We have had an auto loan with Ally for 5 years and in those 5 years, I have never been treated with any kind of kindness. They are rude, and for example just this week we only owe $600.00 on a $20.000 car loan and they called to tell us that we were $100.00 past due on the account. However when we receive the bill it states that a payment of $393.00 is due, so we send $400.00 and they then call to say that we are overdue, never once to mention thank you for the other overpaid payments and keeping your account current. WOW, our last car loan was through another bank and we were treated with respect and courtesy. Never use this company for a car loan. Unfortunately, we had no choice because they had bought out our previous loan company.

And then... they cancelled my account leaving my payroll and other deposits in limbo. The loophole, they said I linked my PayPal account which is categorized as a business account. I said to the person on the phone, "Can I just remove the link to the PayPal account?" She said, "No, you will not use this account again." Why I asked myself, they want me to open a new account with them in which the terms and conditions are different. To me, that is the most unprofessional way to treat a customer. I will never do business with Ally.com. That is the only thing I can do, because I can never take back the sleepless nights after they left me with late bills and wondering when I would get my payroll paper check instead of the direct deposit I had entrusted to them. :-(

I'd like to preface this with the rating only about the Ally Call Center Overseas that the Auto Finance Dept seems fit to use. The second, US-based center was absolutely wonderful so far... My family is military. We bought a new vehicle and decided to go with the dealer option to finance, since they offered 0% and our bank couldn't beat it. BIG mistake. We had electronic payments set up with our own bank and were fine for 2 years (5-year loan). We recently received orders to Europe and have to sell our vehicle (can only take one). We found buyers willing to pay premium and were very excited, after having the vehicle listed for weeks with nothing remotely serious offered. We called Ally right from the beginning to see what we needed to do... They had told us it would take 10 bus. days for a payment to clear, so we had this in mind. Being less than 3 weeks out, we are beginning to feel the pinch of a time crunch, so this offer was a huge blessing to us.

We called Ally back after making the deal to see if there was another way to pay off the loan more quickly. The lady gave us three options: wire funds, Western Union/MoneyGram, or electronic debit from our account paid on their website. 24-48 hours to process and the lien release would be sent to the DMV electronically. We called the buyers and they agreed to meet us at our bank and paid in cash. We deposited the funds, gave them a bill of sale, witnessed by the employees of the bank and got online to make the payment right there.

When we got home and logged in to check the status, our account was COMPLETELY BLANK. We called to make sure everything was going okay and were told they did receive the payment and were in the process of processing it, but it would take 10 DAYS TO CLEAR! Since we have just over two weeks, that isn't even remotely an option for us. I asked to talk to the supervisor. Then another. I finally realized that no one there really spoke English and none were supervisors. They were passing me around to other reps, putting me on holds as long as 10-15 minutes each.

Over an hour later, on my cell phone mind you, using up MY minutes, I finally got on another phone with my bank to see what we could do to stop this payment from going through. Both Ally and my bank said to put a stop payment through...costing me $20. Then Ally said they would continue at least 2 more times if it wouldn't go through, so we should be prepared. Huh? What? My bank couldn't even process the block because they didn't know the routing number Ally uses for electronic transactions. When I asked Ally this, the lady did not know what a "routing number" even was. I finally got her to admit it was just a call center and they knew nothing about our bank system or our loan beside what the computer had in front of them. She finally offered to transfer me to a US-based customer care center in Wichita, KS.

Literally overnight, the lady I spoke with at this new office fixed it all. She knew exactly what to do, what I needed to do, and got it done. She even stayed on the phone with me well after the time she was due to close down... after office hours. And this morning she was right there on the phone with me, having already gotten my info and gotten it approved to clear the paperwork through.

It is absolutely a tragedy how these companies are ruining themselves by sending out customer service jobs to people who do not understand our language and the way we do things...and that we can't understand. What kind of customer service is that?! If I could guarantee to work with the KS center, I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again. We had no problem up until this point. But as long as this is how they do business...no way. 0% isn't worth it.

I had called in February of 2013 for a 2-month forbearance on our account for a vehicle loan, because we were moving. It originally had been approved, and I had asked to make sure that for the months of February and March, that no payment was due. The associate to whom I was speaking replied that, "Yes, you will not need to make payments until April xx, 2013." Next month, the bill came in the mail with a late fee and payment needed. I called to question why I was billed. The associate had no knowledge of my previous conversation. Eventually got it resolved, again, for the second time. Then I received another bill the next month with a late fee and the payment had doubled. I called again. Again, no information was available to the representative I was talking to.

Conversations were at least an hour in length. Never seemed to get anywhere with the representatives. After a total of about 4 months and getting my lawyer involved, we were finally able to get the February and March payments taken care of. However, I now have late fees assessed for everything that has been going on. Since I was told not to make the Feb. and March payments, I keep getting assessed late fees for every month that I only make the regular payment, because in their systems I am 2 months behind in my payments. I am caught up now; however I still owe them a late fee based entirely on their mistake. I just talked to another representative and yet again, they will not take care of it. Going back to the lawyers again now to see what my options are now.

Ally claimed four months were in arrears, even though the payments were set up on automatic withdrawal from my bank. In the initial conversations with personnel at Ally, they confirmed payments as being current and would correct the problem. The situation was not resolved and subsequent conversations with Ally personnel became indifferent and they disavowed any previous conversations with us to other Ally personnel. We contacted the bank manager who confirmed that payments were made and Ally had received and cashed all four payments. The bank manager then faxed, emailed, more than once, as well as speak to Ally personnel in a conference call confirming that Ally had withdrawn the funds in question. Ally claimed no electronic correspondences were ever received prompting bank manager to say, 'impossible'.

When I called the recovery company that stores repos, the lady there told me that many cases like mine come through there and they are all from Ally Financial; in other words, wrongful repossession. When I was talking to Ally, some of the personnel was understanding and willing to help only to either change their stories later or other personnel would just plain tell me I was not being forthright. One person even told me, "So what? You think there is only a conspiracy against you, Frankie **?" I have bank statements that support me. I know that Ally and its mortgage subsidiaries have been sued for the same practices by the states of Ohio and Florida. It's all on the internet. Disclaimer: I have been unemployed for a year and have had problems keeping up with payments on both Ally and Ford Motor Credit. All are up to date and no payments have been over 60 days. Ally Financial (Auto Loan) - Pros: get in touch with their US financial group which is not advertised as an option. The US group is very helpful, can assist on late payments, no threats. Unfortunately, the regular route sends you to an outsource (overseas) to handle your account - for US 1-877-341-7555.

Cons: 1) You are outsourced overseas and the understanding of English is sub-poor; 2) Outsourcing creates bad customer relations due to the poor English and inability to resolve issues due to cultural, language and ability to make a decision. If you have an issue, expect three transfers to different agents. (I have been involved in the financial industry, they moved to an outsourcing model to only save money, and they lost a multitude of customers... not racial.) Most customers prefer to deal with a US call center.

Also, I have nothing but harassment from an outsource group due to the lack of training of handling difficult customers and a misunderstanding of culture; and 3) Moved to Western Union to process payments which results in an addition $8.25 fee. Excuse me, a financial company that cannot handle incoming payments? You would think they would waive the fee if you are catching up their payments. Again, I have worked in the financial services industry and a fee of $8.25 per payment for an immediate is outlandish.

Non-responsive to payment plan adjustments: Typically, several of the auto loan companies I have worked with and know, if payments are made on-time, they will offer you a deal where you can take when you are behind payments, (typically two months). They will bring you current with no late fees but taking the past amount and adding it back into the loan. This was a huge hassle. Didn't acknowledge they offered the plan, and I requested the paperwork on 4 occasions before I received the paperwork... In the meantime, I was barraged by phone calls stating I was in collections. Again, part of the problem is this was a part of the GMAC financial group which obviously brought over the GMAC culture (That's another story).

FORD Motor Credit: out of all of the years I have never had a better experience - polite, kind and willing to work with you regardless of your situation. US based operators: excellent command of the English language. Never ask more than once what you needed and how they could help you - very pleasant and understanding. Payment: Ford handled all of their incoming payments and options for payments with no addition charge added. In fact, they waived some of the late fees and reporting to the credit reporting agencies. Payment options: after explaining the situation, they brought up the fact they had an option to take my "past due" payments and add it back into the loan to assist in my payments. I don't work for ALLY or FORD. I just wanted to explain there are differences to consider when you take on a vehicle finance company. I have dealt with GMAC (mortgage), Ally (car loan) and frankly, they suck at customer satisfaction. Ford gets a +AAAAA rating.

To dispute this, I submitted a written letter of dispute for each "missing" month, bank statements showing I had paid, and was told not to worry and they would resolve the issue and credit the account. Instead of resolving the issue, THEY CHARGED OFF THE ACCOUNT AND REPOSSESSED MY CAR. I received no notice of the completion of them resolving or not resolving the issue in any way, shape or form. And when I went to make my April and May payments (I had fallen behind by two weeks, and was going to pay both), I found I was blocked out of the account.

To recap, they repossessed my car, claimed to have not received payments for 60+ days (which is false), and will not accept any responsibility for making any mistakes or let me make any payments on the loan at all. They also did not specify to me whether this is a retail loan or auto loan, which I've been told will affect whether or not I can even refinance at all, which I will certainly be doing as soon as I retrieve my car. I have appreciated everything about my Ally accounts, except for their eDeposit system. Sometimes I can make a deposit in less than a minute, but often it can take an hour to make a deposit because of glitches in their online deposit system; having to call to report a problem and waiting to speak to someone. Never are they able to explain why the problem is occurring or how to correct it, but indicate someone from tech support will need to call back. Tech support never calls back. Today I made a deposit of one check with no problems and attempted to make a second deposit. It went through seamlessly until the final step where the deposit is confirmed and gave me a message, "Oops, the deposit could not be made for the following reason." There was nothing stated as to the reason. It instructed me to start over.

When I did and got to the confirmation, I got a message it could not be deposited because I had already made the deposit. I called to see whether the deposit actually went through. The Ally rep stated this cannot be confirmed for 2 working days. Because today is Saturday and Monday is a holiday, that means I won't get confirmation for 5 days, during which I will not know whether the deposit went through or not. When I complained about the ongoing problems with the eDeposit system, I was told that eDeposit is a new service for Ally and that they are aware of many problems with the system, but they are working out the details. As I've been making deposits for a year, I don't consider this a new service. I find it terrifying that in a year, they cannot get the system operational and that they began the system when it was not operational.

They first refuse to send your bills. When you call to try and get bills sent to you, they always claim that they are sending it out to you. Sometimes, they come and sometimes, they don't come to you. Then they have a website that does not work correctly, tells you your confirmation payment, then some reason they never take the money out of your bank. You’re going along thinking everything is fine and then bam, they show up, repossess your car. No letters, phone calls or anything that their payment system is not working. This has happened to me twice in 2013.

It is now May 2nd of 2013 and they just did it again. I have proof of my payments. When I call in the morning, the same drill will happen again. Send me the payment, the next payment and some type of repossession fee, no apology for their mistakes and try to make it look like I am some type of deadbeat who does not make payments. I was so angry last time, I almost hired an attorney. I think it is time to do that. I really want this poor customer service to stop and their lack of communication, it is getting ridiculous at this point.

Even though I have confirmations, they still won’t own responsibility. Last time, they said they would send me my money for the mistake. Guess what, they just applied it to my principal and told me that they don't return payments, even though it was all their mistake. Seriously, think about this. Twice, they repossessed my vehicle in 5 months. Seriously, this should be illegal especially with me making my payments on time. I really just want others to know. Since January, I have had problems logging on to the webpage to make payments. Most times, the page will not pull up. I use my business computer and log into several high security web pages all day long. Then I try to go to Ally and it says the page cannot be found. If I can get into the payment screen and I press accept to make the payment, the screen times out so I don't know if it takes or not. Usually, I have to wait a week to try to log back in and have any form of success.

Today, I used my business and personal laptops, neither worked. I had to go use a neighbor's computer to make the payment? No one on Ally's end can seem to help me. They tell me it is my fault, but my IT guy said it is not. Ally wanted to charge me $8.50 to make a phone payment even though it is their system that is messing up. Also, my husband has given them permission to speak to me about this loan at least four times and when I call in, they never have a record of who I spoke with or that he authorized me to call. Help. Any suggestions from someone?

I lease my car through Ally Financial and for the 3rd time, my car was impounded due to them not renewing the registration (technically it should have been 4th time but once I was right near my house and the cop let me go). The company's way of resolving this is to fax me the power of attorney and telling me to go get it registered. Not only is it not my responsibility, my monthly payment includes the registration fee so I end up paying for it to be registered twice. Also, each time this happens, I have to pay towing fees, impound fees, take a day out of work to go to court, pay a court fee, and an $85 fine for it not being registered.

When I call the company, they say, "We have on record that we mailed it out to you." REALLY? Because my bill makes it to my house every month with no issue! When I ask about disputing it, they tell me either there is nothing I can do to get reimbursed or they give me a million different stories on how to dispute it to the point I get so frustrated that I end up just paying everything in order to get my car back. This past Monday, it happened again. I called the BBB to see what I could do about it and they told me to call some company, which I did, only to get told to call 3 more different companies and by the last company I talked to, they pretty much told me they weren't sure who to contact.

To boot, I got a bill today saying I owed $700 on a car I leased from them prior to this one, over a year and a half ago! I cannot even begin to stress my frustration along with a warning never to do business with this company! If anyone knows who I can contact to take action on this, please let me know! As a side note, they are the rudest people to deal with and have called me on more than one occasion saying that I didn't make a payment that I had proof of payment on!

The company bases its collection policies on harassment. My payment is due on the 4th. It was on the 5th that I got paid. At 7 am, I received a call stating I was late on my payment. Yup, that was one day. Okay fine, my bad. I informed the customer service that I would be making it later that day (online) after I make sure my check is in my account. I then got treated horribly. They proceeded to tell me that they can come repossess (oh please do) because I was one day late. Then they told me to "get the money by any means necessary". I asked them to explain what they meant. They proceeded to tell me to rob a bank or steal or borrow it. Wow! I was in shock too. These people are unreasonable. I have since been recording every conversation with them. I wish I knew who to play it for. It's not worth the loan to deal with them. I'm trying to transfer loan companies as I write.

I paid off my Jeep in order to clear the title to sell the vehicle. Ally pulled the money out of my bank account, which cleared within 1.5 days. However, Ally would not provide a lien release for at least 2 weeks. They had my money, but wouldn't clear the title. I called over 16 times and every time I got a different answer and excuse as to why I can't get a lien release. I was promised a lien release faxed to the dealership, which bought my Jeep multiple times, but it never came through. When I followed up with yet another phone call, I was provided another excuse and then another promise that the fax is on the way. The customer service people don't tell you the truth. Every single person you speak to will tell you something different and none of it will be accurate.

Beware if you are paying off your vehicle loan to sell it. Do it at least 30 days prior to when you want to sell in order to get a lien release. Every bank I have ever worked with provide a release within 3 days of having the payoff money - not 30 days. That is impossible to sell under those conditions. Horrible company. Horrible and rude customer service people. Don't have anything to do with Ally.

I traded in my 2010 truck and the dealership I did business with paid them off on 02/22/13. The same day, they had already scheduled to take my monthly payment directly out of my account. I called and was told that it would take 10 days to get a refund. The payment came out of my account on 02/25/13 as a direct pay. I contacted Ally to get the status, got the runaround, and was told that it would take 10 days for a refund. I received a check in the mail for $7.76 dated 02/25/13. I called on 03/01/13 to see what the check was for and check on the status of my full refund. After a lot of persistence, I was finally told that a check in the amount of $469.99 was mailed that day and that I would receive it in 4-5 days.

I called back on 03/06/13 to check on the status and then I was told that they did not post my payment until 03/01/13 which is a lie because it is direct pay and they did get my money on 02/25/13. When I asked what the $7.76 check was for, I was told that it was for overpayment from the payoff and that now I would have to wait 10 business days from 03/01/13 before they would even issue a check. They have had my money since 02/25/13 and now I have to wait even longer. The customer service is not good at all and the representatives are not knowledgeable.

I asked for the payoff on our other truck that we have financed with them so we can move our loan and the guy could not find it. He asked me if I was sure it was financed with them. Finally, after I insisted that he get me the information, he found it and gave me the payoff. I spoke with his supervisor and she gave me more excuses so I asked to speak with someone else above her. She said it would take 48 hours for them to call me back. I pointed out to her that it was convenient that she say 48 hours because that would then be closer to the 10 days!

I had been paying my bill one month ahead of due date. Ally screwed the payment up and put two payments into one month, which moved the early payment to a payment being late every month because I get paid after the due date every month. I asked them to change the due date but they would only process the request if I paid a portion of the payment upfront. I have a fixed income and did not have the money. They will not process it until I pay the amount coming up and the late fee. After I pay the amount due and the late fee because I can’t pay until after I get my check after their due date, they will process the request. My problem is that in the end due to their initial screw up, I have to pay the extra amount to get things put right. No customer service at Ally. I will never use this company again, which I am sure they could care less.

I have had so many terrible experiences with Ally that I searched to see if I was only one. By the looks of it, I am most definitely not. I tried setting up auto pay for my truck. Every time I entered my account #, I got invalid account, or account doesn't exist. I called. They told me there is a system problem, and to try back. After about 6 months, I gave up. I saw the commercial about the ability to pick your due date. What a joke that is. They failed to mention that there's a $98 fee attached to it.

One month, I ran out of checks and my due date was approaching. I tried online once again, still it was the same story, a non-existent account. How can I be making payments all this time on an account that doesn't exist? I called to make a payment, but with a $12 fee;there was no way around it. Now I'm getting harassing letters and calls about my insurance. I guess after 2 years they decided that my insurance deductible wasn't to their standards, and threatened to default on my lease. I'm half tempted to let them.

That's not the first problem either. A few years back, I traded a vehicle in, and got a new one. After 2 months, I got a call saying I was 2 months late on the vehicle I traded in. I told them that I don't own it anymore. Another month went by, it was the same thing. I even called back to talk to someone else and make sure it was straightened out. Another month went by, and now they are calling, saying that I'm scheduled to have my vehicle repossessed. I said, "Go for it; I haven't owned it in almost 6 months."

Finally, I called back and talked to the right person. She had looked through the history, saw the records of the calls, saw no one did anything, and apologized. She helped clear the situation up, gave me her direct # and helped me get letters to get the issues cleared off my credit. Unfortunately for her, the rest of the company gives her a bad name.

So I waited the 10 days and called them to check the status of the title since I couldn’t get paid from the insurance company until I received the title, which I told them but they did not care. After 10 days, they told me that it would take 3 or 4 weeks to process the title, information that would have been handy the first time I called. Their customer service reps are not very informative and seem to know nothing. I would not recommend using them, but maybe as a last resort.

Being 18 years old, an auto loan is hard to come by. I bought a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee through Northwest Savings Bank and loved them. I never had a problem with that bank. I drove the Jeep for two months when something happened that required me to move to a minivan. I went car shopping and found a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan that fit my needs. I was about $3,500 upside down on the Jeep and had no money down so only one bank would approve me; it was none other than Ally Auto Finance!

At first, they were fine, but I got my first statement in the mail with the wrong due date on it. I called Ally and changed the due date (for a $86 fee). I paid two payments on the van. One horrible morning, I was in a horrible accident. I was driving way too fast on ice and slid off the road into a tree; I hit the tree so hard that I bounced off the tree, took out a telephone pole, and slid over a bank. My van was destroyed, but it did its job and allowed me to walk away from it. My insurance company totaled the van and gave me $12,565 for it; I owed $17300 on it. Luckily for me, I bought full GAP coverage on the van when I bought it. My insurance company sent the money to Ally eight times before they accepted it.

Fast forward by two weeks, I am in desperate need of a vehicle so I start shopping around. I tried 14 different dealerships and every one of them denied me because of bad credit; I have never missed a payment on anything. I finally went to a Dodge dealership where I fell in love with a 2010 Dodge Journey. The only bank that would approve me was Ally Auto Finance! I took a chance and bought it as I had to have a car, or I would lose my job. Imagine my surprise when I get my credit report stating that I have a repossession on my credit report. I have never had a repo in my life! Ally reported my van as a repo even though the title was sent to Nationwide Insurance.

It took three weeks to get that taken care of, but that doesn't stop the collection calls for the Grand Caravan that was already sent to Salvage Auction. Ally even messed up the GAP form and put that the van was repossessed causing my claim to be denied. I have not had any trouble with the Journey loan yet, but Ally caused me to have nightmares almost every night. They do not know what they are doing!

In Fall of 2011 and Spring of 2012, someone hacked into my account or somehow illegally got my card number and purchased gas at far away locations three times during each - a total of 6 transactions. Each time, I called Ally and was told to file a Reg. E claim to get my money back, and so I did exactly what they told me to do. The money was put back into my account, and the investigation showed each time that the fault was not mine. I was issued a new card each time as well, which is never out of my possession, nor are my checks.

Now I am told that because I filed the claims as instructed, they find me to be a risky customer and do not want my business any longer. I asked what I should have done, short of letting the thief abscond with my money and no one could answer me. It was either let the thief have the money or lose your account. Nice way to run a bank.

I was informed on December 14th and the 21st, by Ally, that I had "Substitution of Collateral" which is positive equity - where you take the 1st lease and generally change the Vin for a new vehicle of the same type and keep the same payments. Liberty Mutual insurance paid off the car (with a surplus); the dealership was ready and willing to help me with the "substitution of collateral", but Ally Bank told me on January 4th that my case was closed, when I called.

On January 7th, I called the dealership back and Eric **, Business Director of dealership, called Ally. They told them that they would give the dealership the entire check; the dealership could go from there. Then 2 days later, Ally reneged. The dealership principals/ supervisors indicated to me that this is totally unethical & immoral of Ally to do to the dealerships customers. Furthermore, Ally is guilty of using unscrupulous & shady tactics, because they have reversed their position on a positive equity position, especially with the federal disaster storm Hurricane Sandy being declared. My car was a total loss from the storm.

Ally will not tell me anything. Everything is fully documented that the bank is giving complete "substitution of collateral" and the bank has closed the case and will not do anything. First of all, I have had my car initially financed from GMAC and they switched to Ally. Until recently, within the last 2 years, I was never late on a payment, and then I lost job after job and ran out of deferment on payments. Needless to say, I began to fall late. I never went more than 3 months past due and last night, when I became 3.5 months past due, they came and repossessed my car. I never received any kind of notification. In fact, the last letter I received from them in the mail was from back in August 2012! I also just made a payment on 12/4/12. I started calling this morning at 7am when they started taking calls and was on hold for 47.05 minutes, and talked to a representative, Erma, and she was beyond rude! She had no empathy at all for my situation and I could barely understand anything she said with her heavy Indian accent.

I asked to speak to her supervisor and she replied, "He is going to tell you the same thing!" I said that I still would like to speak to someone. So she transferred me to Vince, the "assistant supervisor," and he was the biggest ** ever! He wouldn’t let me talk and kept interrupting me. He said that the tow place hasn’t released the information yet and that he couldn’t do anything until then. I then asked if he could call the tow place and he rudely declined. So I insisted and he said, "I’m going to release the call now, I cannot help you." I begged him to help me because I finally got a new job and it starts today. He said again, "I am releasing the call." Click! I was so mad! I called the tow place and the lady, Courtney, was super nice and couldn’t understand why they didn’t have the information yet.

So I proceeded to call Ally back and was on hold for just over one hour, and talked to Donna. She was actually kind of nice! She got all my information and then called the tow company to confirm the information without me even asking! I got the payment made via MoneyGram (that customer care representative was super nice) and now I am waiting on hold to give Ally my reference number - it’s only been 29.52 minutes so far! So with any luck, I will get my car back in time to go to my new job! A bonus is that my car will be paid off! I only owed $1,053.72 past due plus $26.46 late fee and a $350.00 repossession fee, so the grand total is $1430.18. Thank God for family! Because I sure wouldn’t have been able to pay this if it wasn’t for my grandma. Love you Grams!

I originally opened a checking account with Ally Bank wanting to support a company with a new and inventive idea. I liked the idea on an online-only bank. One of the biggest flaws with this bank however is that there is no way to get your money quickly. Their terms state that the checks take 2-9 days to process, though the money does not process all at once. When my check said it had processed, it gave me access to my card. Beware though, if you overdraft, they will appear to not be concerned, there is no fees, which I thought was excellent. But after a few paychecks went by, and my account "overdrafting" by a clerical definition, suddenly they have started putting a much larger hold on my checks. My current paycheck was deposited and then put on hold, but I won't have access to a dime of that money until my next paycheck arrives.

I have bills that are going unpaid simply because Ally won't give me access to my money, even though I have never spent any more than what I had deposited. Online banking seems like a great concept, but without any method of quick access to your money, people living paycheck-to-paycheck should retain their brick-and-mortar accounts.

I called customer service and they notified me that the online service was not working for some if its users. The representative was friendly and apologetic. I was then told to pay by check. I informed the representative that I did my banking online and did not have checks. The representative said that she would work on fixing my online account and waive any late charges.

Two weeks later, I was still unable to make a payment. I called customer service and was told that it is not their (the bank’s) problem that the website does not work. The representative told me I would incur 70 dollars in charges and a hit on my credit report, unless I paid to wire transfer the bank money. I talked to a supervisor, who also blamed me for the problem on their end and refused to remove the charge. When I finally was fed up and asked for his name and ID number, he put me on hold for 30 minutes. Finally he agreed to take payment over the phone for free via my debit card.

I have had my car for over a year. I still can't log in online. I have paid over $200 in late fees because my frustration is not worth the 35 dollar late fees. I am still told that it is my problem if their website doesn't work. I have negative history on my credit report. This bank is a scam and I am sad to see that the government has not stepped in to regulate. I wish I could switch back to Bank of America's auto loans as the interest was lower and I never had any problems. Every time I call Ally bank, I get transferred to a rude representative outside of the United States. I wish I could give no stars. Ally is the worst auto finance company ever. My husband and I have always been on time with our payments and have never had a late fee until about 4 months ago. We use online bill pay (Never do auto pay! They take money out early!). I went online and made our payment. Our bank denied the payment! I thought this was odd because we had $200 over the payment amount in that account. I even went online to Ally’s website, thinking I added something. No, it was our normal payment. So I made it again just thinking it was a fluke, and it happened again. Now by this time, I had gotten two NSF fees. I asked my bank why it was getting denied, and they said, “You don't have the funds.” They informed Ally was trying to take out $5,000 instead of $500!

So I called Ally and actually got a person. They told me it was a computer glitch, yada, yada, yada. They would not reverse the late fee. We were mad so we didn't pay it. Then it happened again next month. We got told the same thing. Again, we didn't pay the late charge. Next month, we used his mother’s account to show her they took the charge out late and a $100 more! We called and got the runaround responses. Then last month for no reason we have a late fee. Somehow we have a late fee of $177 and some change, but our payments are all caught up and are not due till the 24th.

Well last week, calls started first to my hubby up to 10 times a day and then to me again 10 times a day. We both are very busy with work. They started harassing his 90 year old grandmother who has heart problems! They were even giving a different contact number for her because of this, yet they keep calling the old number nonstop. I finally got some time off and called them. And guess what?! They want their $177 late fees! I am beyond mad about this. When I told them I won’t pay them because it’s not my fault and I have proof, they got very rude saying it’s only $177 and blah, blah, blah. I told them “If it’s only $177, why don't you pay it for me?”

The most recent call we got from them, they told us they were going to repossess the car because of the late fees! We aren't even in loan default and have never been! Do they even have the right to do that? We are now considering just paying it just to stop the harassing calls to his grandmother. So if you’re thinking about using Ally, don't!

My husband was deployed to Afghanistan at the beginning of the year and I faxed over the Power of Attorney to both Ally and Harris (both auto loans). Since I have been paying online, I haven't had to call Ally but we are moving in a few weeks and I wanted to defer our auto loan for the month so we had some gas money for the move. I was told we could get the payment deferred but that they needed his POA. I told them I had faxed that at the beginning of the year but apparently, they never got it. (Harris did receive it the day I sent it.) So I said I would fax it again. Fast forward a week (suppose to take 24/48 hours to be put on the account) and Ally says they never received the fax. I have the confirmation print out that says they did. So, I faxed it again and this time to a special fax number, because they wanted to make sure they got it and put it on file.

Fast forward a few more days to today and guess what, they still don't have it on file. I have faxed a legal document to them three different times and all three times, they have lost it. Every time I call, the rep I talk to gives me the same script and only says "I apologize" but never gives me any information on what I can do or who I can talk to to fix this problem. I asked the last two conversations to talk to a supervisor and they wouldn't even do that. They told me that the supervisor would tell me the same thing and refused to transfer me. What company refuses to transfer you to a supervisor when you ask to speak to one? If we could go back in time, I would never use Ally. I also opted to take the customer service survey at the end of the call, and all three times I was disconnected before I was put through. Coincidence? I think not. They know I am angry because I told them so and they don't want me to fill out a survey.

I would give Ally zero stars if I could. That is how angry I am with them. They keep asking if my husband can call them and I told them, “My husband is in Afghanistan! He can't call me let alone call you people." This is what a POA is for! I don't know what kind of business they are running, but it’s clear they have no idea what they are doing. They wouldn't transfer me to the office that handles the faxes. They wouldn't transfer me to a supervisor so I could find out how they are going to fix my problem. They won't even tell me what else I can do since this is attempt 3 of faxing them and clearly, it’s not working. I am filing a complaint with the BBB after this. I just want people to know how this company treats their customers. We have always paid on time and we are very close to paying off our car. We have been nothing but great customers and the one time I need help on the account, they don't help.

I requested my payment date with Ally Auto Financial be changed from the 12th of the month to the 28th of the month. The gentleman told me this is a one time per customer deal so make the date what you want. The very next month, my phone was blowing up with collection calls from Ally Financial from the Philippines wanting my overdue payment from the 12th. I called Ally Financial the next business day and was told I would have to pay $98.52 to advance my payment date and it would be deducted from my monthly bill. I have never heard of a finance company charging you to change a payment date on an account that has never been late.

On top of the inconvenience, I now get calls from their collection people overseas from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm daily. I even told them I could not pay the loan payment until the 26th and I am not paying $100 to change the date because obviously they are not trusting. How would I know if my $100 would be deducted from my next payment? Of course, they also told me my payment due date was a "pending" transaction on one phone call. I cannot wait to refinance my car loan at a normal bank. I've learned my lesson with predatory lending!

I just bought a 2012 Ram 2500 truck in October. The loan is for 7 years and financed through Ally Financial. My plan is to pay it off in 3 years (give or take a few months). To make it easier on me, I set up an automatic electronic payment with plans of paying extra money in between scheduled payments as I am able to. I made my first payment of $599.10 on 11/19/12. On 11/26/12, I decided to pay an additional $600. Since I wanted to be sure the full amount was going straight to the principal, I decided to call them and confirm it. After almost 30 minutes waiting to get through, I asked my questions:

    1. Can I make a payment over the phone? Yes.
    2. Will I be charged any type of extra fees? No.

    3. Will the full amount go directly to the principal? Yes.

All sounded good so I went ahead and authorized the additional payment. The phone operator told me the money would be posted to my loan the next day (11/27/12). I checked my bank account and the money was never touched. I waited a couple of days more. Again, nothing. My local bank teller asked me if I had a confirmation number. I said I was never given one. She suggested I call back and make sure to get one.

On the 29th, I called again and asked why my payment had not been posted. The lady said, "What payment, sir? There is nothing in our records that show a payment was made." I was beyond upset! I wasted a lot of time on that first call and it was all for nothing? I proceeded to ask the same three questions and got the same three answers. I requested to make the additional payment only this time, instead of $600, I wanted to pay $1,000. After she "processed" the payment and was getting ready to hang up, I asked her for a confirmation number. Her reply was, "I don't have one. Don't worry, the payment will show in your account in 24-48 hours."

The next day, I checked my Ally account and there was no sign of a "pending or completed" payment. By evening time, I called a third time. I was surprised that no record of a payment being made was found! I demanded three times to be put through to a supervisor. After being on hold for 20 minutes or more, a man finally answered. I explained what I had been trying to do, what I had been told and what had not happened.

He checked and found no record of any additional payments either. He asked me, "Were you at any time put through to Western Union?" I replied, "No, up until now, no one mentioned anything about Western Union." Then he said that I never made a payment. He was about to put me through to Western Union when I stopped him and asked the same three questions. His reply:

    1. Yes, you can make a one-time payment over the phone, but the money can only be processed through Western Union (this sounded way too fishy to me).
    2. There will be an $8+ fee. There is no way around that.

    3. Any extra money will be treated as a regular payment and interests will be deducted from it. You have to call back after the payment is made and verbally request that the full amount goes to principal.

So I asked if I can mail a check instead and write "Apply to principal only." He said that would not work because "a machine" processes the payments. On hind sight, that does not make sense? Is this true? Is it legal? If I didn't want to pay the Western Union fee, I could make an online payment and he would put a note to have the full amount go to principal. So that is what I did.

After that, I googled Ally customer reviews and found this website. After reading all the horror stories and experiencing first-hand the incompetence of their employees, I am begging to regret making the $1,000 payment. Something tells me that my request is not going to be honored. Hopefully, I am wrong. Either way, they are completely clueless, incompetent and will not hesitate to lie just to get you off the line. I regret getting the loan with them.

So far, they have made a poor impression. Hopefully, everything turns out okay and I have no other problems. From now on, I am going to save any extra money and try to re-finance the truck with my local bank. On top of their clueless employees, the last thing I need is them putting a lien on my truck after it is paid off, adding hidden charges, refusing to accept my payoff payment because I am off by a dollar or having to wait months for a title - the last one is unacceptable. I paid off my wife's Honda last month and our title was in our mail box within a week!

P.S. By the way, all the people I spoke with also had a very heavy accent and were very difficult to understand. I am not racist or have a prejudice but if you hire someone for a customer service position that requires communication over a phone, it would be smart to hire people that can speak proper English! That only made my experience much more frustrating!

Ally Bank is so awful with their hidden policies. I saw the $9 per day overdraft fee and was immediately drawn to them because my current bank was charging $35 per transaction. It was way more appealing except for the fact that quickly I found out that the reason it is $9 is because they deny about 99% of everything that comes through. I had an auto payment for my car and it came out 1 day before my work direct deposit and I got a notice saying they returned the payment. I called to see if they could overturn their decision, and I was told there is no way.

I tried to escalate it and got no help. On top of this, because my account was overdrawn once, they started to hold my deposits for 7 business days causing me to be overdrawn longer and the only way to deposit checks is online. I tried to get this lifted with no success. It caused me to be late on my rent and pay over $300 in late fees which in that case I'd much rather have taken the $35 overdraft fee. And now, I deposited a check to cover my transactions but they've again held it and because of that, my account is overdrawn again. But if my check would've gone through after I deposited it, I would be positive. And they still won't credit back my overdraft fees they are charging. This company is a huge rip off. Stay away.

On the first week of October, I called Ally customer service to request for title and they said they will mail me if I show proof of payoff. So, I have to go to DMV to show them the proof that I already paid off. Ally said it will be 3 to 5 days business. I gave them my new address. I've been waiting but nothing comes in, so I called them again. They said to make sure the address is correct. I told them I am not living in West Virginia anymore so they changed the new address to mail it to me. 3 to 5 business days again and waiting. It never comes. I am getting angry because I need to sell my car. I asked my uncle to call them to follow-up. He said 3 to 5 days business again. I am getting angry. I will never loan from Ally ever again!

I tried calling their 1-800 number only to be told that a specialist will contact me. Well, no one called me so I called them back. They gave me the direct number to the specialist only to be directed to voice mail. I called Ally back and demanded to talk to a supervisor only to find myself being directed back to this mysterious specialist. They basically told me that until I somehow get a hold of this unknown specialist will I be able to have access to my hard-earned money. This is so ridiculous and stupid. Selling the vehicle; buyer is paying cash and waiting for the title. I called today to have the title overnighted to me using my account. First rep said can't do it, only send out titles by mail. I asked for a supervisor. She said they can do it, but it will still take ten days before the title can be sent because I paid it off online using ACH and have the ability to reverse the payment in the first ten days. I know how ACH works. This is a flat out lie. After reading other complaints here, I am now expecting the title to arrive in 4-6 weeks. If so, I will take legal action.

I recently moved from PA to MD. The State of MD requires the Certificate of Title for your vehicle in order to register said vehicle in state. I phoned Ally on Oct. 10th and was given a fax number 410-584-1691 to fax MD VR-056 (12-09) to Ally to get my information sent to MD to register my vehicle. I emphasized my current PA registration was going to expire on 10-31-2012 and asked that the process please be expedited. I was told once the fax was received, my account would be updated so the personnel in OH where the title is held can send it on to MD MVA. I was told that process would take 24-48 hours. My first mistake was not calling back in 2 days to verify everything was in order.

I called back on October 24 and was informed the fax was never received as my account had no update. I was asked by 5 different people what fax number I sent it to. "Oh yes, that is the correct number," I was told when I gave the fax number. I asked, "Is there any way to call the office that retrieves the faxes to ensure that maybe it was left on the fax machine?" "No, that is not possible, when the fax is received. they will update your account." I am told by a supervisor at this point that they, Ally, will go ahead and send the information to the State of MD. I asked how he proposed to do that without my fax and I was told he would just look at my address on file and send it based on that. I was told I would get a phone call. I faxed the request again. Needless to say, it is now October 31, 2012. I never received a phone call and my current registration is expired.

I called again today and lo and behold, there is no update to my account; they have not received the fax yet. As I am repeatedly sending the faxes, I am also including my fax transmission report showing the previous fax was transmitted successfully. I informed the supervisor I spoke with today that I would be looking for another bank to finance the remainder of my car loan as Ally is the most incompetent bank I have ever had to deal with. I am also told the offices are closed due to the recent hurricane where the faxes are received but I can go ahead and fax again. I will fax my paperwork every 10 minutes, surely when they get back to the office tomorrow, some incompetent will see my fax and actually do their job by updating my account. Their customer service stinks and as far as helping the customer, forget about it. Usually when you speak to a supervisor at that point, your problem is resolved. Not with Ally, their supervisors are as incompetent as their phone support personnel.

I have had car loans with Chrysler Financial for over twelve years. Never once was a payment late let alone missed. Unfortunately since CF doesn't exist anymore, I was financed with Ally. What a complete disaster. I set up an online account to pay my bills tied in to my checking account. The bill is due the first of each month. If you go to the account on the second, they already post the following month's bill so now it looks like you have two months to pay. So I decided to set up auto-pay because my pension is deposited at midnight on the first so the car can get paid on the first.

Unbeknownst to me, I see a caller ID on the house phone that I don't recognize, I checked the number and it comes back to Ally. Mind you, no message was left on the answering machine. I called last evening, was on hold for half hour. No one picked up. So I called this morning, was on hold for twenty minutes before an agent picked up. I started explaining everything above nicely, to no avail. She started telling me to look on my online history by clicking on the drop down box next to the VIN. I said, "Ma'am, there is no drop down box." She replied, "Yes there is." I said, "Do you think I'm lying to you? There is no drop down box." She said, "Sir, let me get your account log in to look." Against my better judgment, I relinquished my info, now waiting hearing some background noise. She came back and stated sarcastically, "If you look at the bottom of the screen, you'll see view online activity," and my response was that's not where you told me to look before.

There was no apology, just more attitude, where now she stated that you never set up direct pay in an argumentative tone. So now I was irate. This was the second time she was calling me a liar. I said, "The last time I went online was 6/15/12 where I set up auto-pay and you can see that the payment was received on 7/2/12." She stated with disgust and arrogance, "No you didn't, you paid July's payment." So now, steaming and irate, I basically said, "come and get the vehicle," because I'm not going to deal with likes of Ally Bank and its staff. I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a bank ever. I cannot believe the attitude I'm getting.

Absolutely 0 stars if I could. Out of all my experiences dealing with banks and financial services, I can tell you that Ally Bank is by far the worst experience I've ever had. Do not be deceived by their seemingly high interest rates and clever marketing of putting customers first. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is further from the truth. I opened a savings and checking account with them and because of the high interest rate, I recommended my wife and dad to do the same. A week later, my dad's account was locked without any notification. When my dad called, the customer service rep refused to tell him why they locked the account, and referred him to a "fraud" specialist.

The problem is, the "fraud" specialist could never be reached nor would this person return his voice mails. A few days later, both my account and my wife's accounts got locked - again, without notification or warning of any kind. To make matters worse, I made the mistake of already putting in my hard-earned savings - over $10K worth - into the Ally account. Now these money robbing "allies" basically locked out my money, all without telling me why. Again I called, and after waiting on the phone forever, was given the same runaround as my dad - nobody could tell me why the account is locked, I need to talk to the Fraud department, and of course, nobody from the department is available. I left a voice mail and, surprise surprise, no callbacks. I'm still trying to reach them so I can get my money back!

Keep in mind we're just a regular hardworking family with absolutely no credit problems or criminal backgrounds. I have investment relationship or accounts with most major banks, both physical and online, and was never treated this way. I mean there were bouts of bad service but nobody has ever denied me money that's literally mine. I've never felt so abused by a company in my lifetime.

Do you know any other bank that will lock your account and freeze all your assets without telling you? I feel like I'm some sort of a drug dealer, and the FBI is cracking down on me. It's one of the worst feelings ever. To top it all off, the customer service representatives on the phone were incredibly rude, and they like to transfer your call without telling you that they're doing so. Literally, they told me "I'm going to put you on hold," and the next second, I'm getting "you have reached the loss prevention unit, please leave a message." It's absolutely infuriating when you're trying to recover money that's yours in the first place! "Loss prevention unit," why does a bank need this when I'm the one who's putting in the money while they're holding it hostage? And I need to convince them I'm not some sort of the criminal so I can get the money out?!

Again, do not ever, ever bank with this company. Don't be like me. Do some searches online first and read all the complaints. A bank like this deserves to go under.

Where do I begin? This is by far the absolute worst bank I have ever dealt with! If you have other options, take them and steer very clear of Ally Financial! You will be screwing yourself in more ways than one! I fell behind on my auto lease loan because of unexpected urgent expenses that arose. I called Ally to try and work out a payment plan to get me back on track without putting myself more in the hole. The customer service representatives – if you can even reach one without being hung up on – are the most rude and unprofessional people I have ever encountered. They were not willing to work with me at all and even threatened to repossess my car. They questioned me as a parent asking how will I work and take care of my kids without my car. They questioned my financial situation trying to dig for answers that were none of their business – like asking me where the money is from the last payment I missed and did I pay daycare? Who do they think they are?

They call me quite a few times throughout the day leaving nasty messages; and when I do answer, I get a horrible attitude! One time I asked to speak with a supervisor or manager because the lady was being down right mean! The ** refused to transfer me, kept asking why I wanted to talk to them, and then she hung up on me! So I called right back fuming at this point and she puts on what she said was her supervisor (I think it was just a coworker) and she was just as rude and mean! A few days later, I called and miraculously got transferred to a guy who is actually in the US and speaks good English. I told him my experience, and he apologized and told me that what I experienced happens a lot! Wow! Another issue I have had with them is my auto pay. I set up auto pay to deduct my payment from my checking account when I first got my car. Big mistake! After I fell behind on my payments, I tried to turn auto pay off and I wasn't able to on the website; so I called horrible customer service again and sure enough they wouldn't delete my auto pay account.

It got so bad that I had to close that checking account! Then the fun really began! Then the calls started up again, calling me a bunch of times during the day leaving horrible messages! I finally answered one of their calls and not to my surprise, the woman was a complete **! She yelled at me telling me that closing my checking account was completely unacceptable and then I am committing a crime (that she couldn't identify by the way) and then she hung up on me! Like I said before, the absolute worst bank I have ever dealt with! If you want a good one, I have had great experiences with Golden1, Patelco, Alliant. But please listen to me and all these other Ally victims and stay way away from Ally! Because of this experience, I will also be staying away from Chevy (which has been my vehicle of choice for many years!). Beware!

Well it's August, why charge me now even though my April payment was on time? She could not explain why, but wanted me to pay and hung up on me. I paid minus their charge as I do every month, but late fee will always be there? Guess I will find out what happens when I pay it off in full and ask for the title. I was promised all my money, my new account and debit card to be here by Monday, but here it is Monday and I get another excuse. I just need a few dollars till payday, so they told me they would wire it or put it into another account. But today the only supervisor in the whole place told me I have to wait till Tuesday.

I get chemo and radiation. My co-pay has to be paid upfront. I do not have it today, so now my health is in jeopardy. Sorry, I am crying, so I can’t see the spelling. They are protecting themselves here because I have so much proof of their breach. I cannot see anything online, so I guess I won’t see my money again. Do not get an account - it is horrible. They never ever call you for anything - they just resend the same emails and no one really cares.

I am sure they will not post this. Your comment is awaiting moderation. Everything could happen - unauthorized use, disputes, even a loan I did not apply for. They removed my info from the internet and kept the money and told me lies one after another about how they were going to wire me my money or put it in another account. They never opened up the new account for me after they breached my information and then I begged for my money and they promised it would be in hand Monday express. Monday came and there’s no money. I actually had to discard my chemo and radiation today because I did not have enough to pay my copay. So next it will be my health. I called there and one lady tried to convince me that she was the only supervisor there. So much for that money. They really do not care about anyone - it is really horrifying. Leave a reply.

Ally isn't really your ally. I've been an Ally customer for approximately 4 months. During that period, my place of employment has attempted to direct deposit my paychecks into Ally, but the deposits were rejected. I then tried to e-check deposit my paychecks, which Ally held for 12 days each time before depositing. In the meantime, I had checked and double checked and triple checked that the account information that was being used was correct. Each time I called Ally, I was subjected to yammerings about account numbers that I've confirmed and hold times I find excessive, given the fact that it's a salary check for the same amount every two weeks. But I figured it would all be fine when the direct deposit issue was fixed.

After five attempts, my accounting department said "Good news, your deposit has been accepted!" and I was so happy. But on deposit day, my money wasn't in my account. My pay stub said "This is not a check" and Ally said "We don't know where your money is, but it may take us 24 to 48 (business) hours to research it." On a Friday that means I won't hear from Ally until Tuesday, and if they do find it, I'm sure they'll come up with a reason to hold it for another 12 days.

The worst part, while speaking with a customer service supervisor (almost as useless as a customer service representative, but with a more authoritative sounding title), she indicated that there was no way to further expedite my resolution, as it was a newly opened issue. **? I've been calling over and over for months about the same issue. Maybe it's a bit different than the last eight calls, but it still boils down to the same little nugget. My direct deposit isn't being deposited and Ally won't give me my money.

The fee-less accounts, the interest, the convenience, the friendly customer service, the e-check deposit, it all sounds fantastic, but beware. You'll continuously call with the same issues. You'll wait weeks for access to your own money and there is no direct line to the resolution center, leaving you at the mercy of friendly, but relatively helpless customer service reps (and supervisors). I'll be posting this review on every available site for each waking hour that my funds remain missing in some Ally limbo. At the earliest availability I'll be removing my money and marching it straight toward the teller of a better bank, if there is such a thing. Wish me luck.

I paid off my auto loan with Ally. A few days later, I went online to make sure my auto-pay feature which took my monthly payment from my bank checking account was no longer necessary or, if need be, to deactivate same. My online account showed the auto loan to be paid in full so, in my mind, there was nothing else to do. Twenty four hours later, Ally took the auto-pay payment of over $600 from my account, right on schedule. They took my money, as scheduled, on the evening of the 13th of the month. When I called on the 14th, I was informed it was my own fault since I didn't cancel the auto-pay. I asked how I was to cancel auto-pay on an account marked, by them, as "Paid in full". They told me the account wasn't paid until that day (14th). They had no good answer as to why the online account was showing paid on the 12th.

I then asked when they would put the money back in my account and was told that it was not their policy to re-deposit money and that I would get a check in the mail within "10 business days". I told them that they were working a financial hardship but all they could say was, "we're very sorry, etc." Meanwhile, I got a letter from them postmarked the 13th stating my loan was paid in full. At the same time they were telling me my loan is paid, they were still taking my money! At the end of the "10 business days", I called and inquired about my refund. They told me the check had been issued on the 29th and I should get it soon. Of course, two days later, on the 3rd, it still hadn't arrived and I was then told that the "4th of July holiday" had probably delayed it. On the 5th, they told me that the holiday had delayed the mail and I should get it by the following week, the 10th at the latest.

The check came today, the 9th, and was postmarked the 3rd containing a check dated the 2nd. I'd been lied to from the start! I will never do business with this bunch again and will warn any and all away from them. How can you trust anyone who will lie just to keep from having to tell the truth? BTW, on their TV ads, they brag that you will always be able to call them, night or day. What they don't tell you is that you will be connected to someone in Rangoon or Calcutta who will speak perfect English with an accent so strong you can barely understand him or her.

I very angry with the way your customer service is and how they handled their job. I informed them that I had traded cars and that they should be receiving the pay off soon in the mail. The customer service rep, wherever the hell he was at, was supposed to write down the message to let the folks in accounting know that I had traded cars on April 4, 2012 and that they would be receiving a pay-off. Little did that do. I might as well went out and talked to a tree. Obviously nobody can read or write where your customer service contracted services who answer the phone. Now, let’s talk about the customer service. If they cannot understand you when you tell them that it is being overnighted then you best need to make a decision about sending your business to another country. As of right now, I will not recommend anybody finance through Ally Bank, period. And I know you think that I am just a little man that you think you can just blow off. Well, guess what, I work for a dealership and I can guarantee you that I will let people who purchase car know before they sign any contract with you, folks, to think twice about it.

My Certificate of Deposit matured on 3/16/12. On 3/16/12, I faxed request to Ally Bank to close CD and transfer funds to linked account. On 3/16, I received confirmation that fax was successfully sent. On 3/21, I received voicemail from Ally Bank customer service to return their call. On 3/21, I contacted Ally Bank and spoke with a representative who informed me that they needed to confirm the routing number and account number of external account to which funds would be transferred. I provided that information, confirmed that information with representative on phone. On 3/27, I received call from an Ally Bank representative stating that transfer had not yet been processed.

Representative stated that previous representative on 3/21 did not use proper method to transfer funds. This representative was apologetic and assured me that correct procedure was now performed. She requested that I call back when I see two microdeposits and one microdebit in the external account to which funds would be transferred. On 3/31, I noticed the two microdeposits and one microdebit in external account. I called Ally Bank to confirm this information as instructed to do on 3/27.

On 4/5, I received letter in the mail from Ally Bank notifying me that CD was rolled over for another year. I contacted Ally to inquire about this. Representative stated that improper procedure was used by previous representative on 3/31, preventing transfer to be successful. I requested to speak with a manager. I spoke with manager on duty (time was between 7:04 pm to 7:25 pm, EST) who informed me that she would escalate concern. I informed the manager that I was not pleased with the difficulty of receiving my funds in a timely manner and that I now wanted my funds delivered as a physical check to my physical address by or on 4/9/12. Manager stated that they could not do that, that funds would be available to me by 4/10/12. I advised manager that this would not be an acceptable arrangement and mentioned that they could be in violation of a regulation concerning the availability of funds (FDIC Reg CC?). I informed her that I would do further research on that.

On 4/9/12, I received the funds requested (check) via FedEx Express as sent by Ally Bank. On 4/9/12, I filed complaint regarding this matter with the FDIC who forwarded complaint to the Consumer Financial Protection Board (CFPB). On 4/11/12, I filed same complaint with the Utah Department of Financial Institutions. I received two copies of the same letter from Ally Bank (dated 4/25/12) in response to both complaints. Ally Bank did admit to one mistake by a Contact Care Associate (CCA) that contributed to the delay in my receipt of funds. I am willing to swear under oath that my records show that more than one CCA was involved in this matter.

My concern is that Ally Bank is doing this to a myriad of other Ally customers. Even at this website, under Ally Bank's page, there are complaints that are very, very similar (if not exactly the same) as my complaint regarding customer receipt of funds from matured Certificates of Deposits. I am noticing a pattern of behavior (or misbehavior) on Ally Bank's part in providing access to their customers' funds. Thank you for your time and attention.

I had a 60 month CD with nearly $100,000.00 in it (and at a pretty good rate) that had two years left to go. Because I'm separated from my wife, I put alerts on all my bank account so that I would know if anyone (including my wife) tried to withdraw money. On April 16th, while sitting at my computer, I received an email from Ally Bank telling me that "Your 60 month CD account has been closed," and I should call them for information. I called them and after asking me 30 questions, I was asked what I wanted. I asked when did this happen, but I received no answer. Although, I told him that it "could" be my wife, but he refused to tell me who closed the account. I told him that I wanted any check stopped and the account frozen. Again, he refused.

If they closed "my CD account," how come they wouldn't help me? Whoever "closed" the account, must have done it on the telephone and had them send a check to an address different from my address. Ally Bank stinks and I hope they go out of business this time.

I told the customer representative, “If that's the way you treat customer’s money, you can close my money market account now,” which also had nearly $100,000 in it. Today, I just received an "alert" telling me that my money market account has been closed. These people must be idiots. If they're going to close a large CD before the end from a telephone conversation and send the money to an address that is different than the one on file, the least they should do is check with the person they intend to send the 1099 to. What else can I say about this "bank"?

My CD matured on February 28, 2012 and I decided to transfer the majority of the funds out leaving a small portion to roll over to the one year maturity. Funds were supposed to be in my checking account in 5-8 days. On Monday, March 5, funds were still not in my checking account and I called. The service rep said they were backed up and funds transfer would take another few days, guaranteeing funds would be in my account on Friday, March 9. On Thursday, March 8, I called to confirm that the funds would be in my checking account tomorrow and this new rep said it would take another ten days. He then offered a free wire transfer because I said this time, wait to receive my funds was unacceptable. He escalated the issue.

On March 9 (within 10-day grace period), I called to completely close out the account and have all the funds including accrued interest sent to me considering it was not acceptable at all to not have access to funds when they delayed three times when I would get my funds. My principal and last year's accrued interested showed up in the wire transfer, but not the interest for the ten days. I called to complain and issue was escalated. Client service rep called me today and said they do not issue accrued interest for the 10 days since my account was currently closed. I think they are in violation of some laws for not paying me the ten days interest due.

My husband and I purchased a car and financed through Ally a month ago. The first payment is due in 15 days, and we have not received a statement. I decided to use their online payment option for fear that mailing a check will make the payment late. The website would not allow me to process the payment unless I agreed to give Ally access to process any payment in any amount in the future from my bank account. I am leery of giving such open access to my bank account to any company.

I called customer service for an explanation of the agreement. They tried to refuse to help me without speaking to my husband. I pointed out that I am the one making the agreement. The rep raised her voice at me and told me to just agree to it. I asked for a supervisor. I was placed on hold for 10 minutes and then hung up on. I called to speak to a supervisor again. The supervisor tried again to insist that my husband must call. I explained again that I pay the bill. He then admitted that they cannot access the agreements that customers see. He kept trying to insist that the agreement was optional, but it was not.

I am extremely frustrated that I am being limited in payment options, and forced to give Ally access to my checking account, in order to make the car payments. I should get a bill in reasonable time to mail a payment, or not be forced to grant access to my checking account, except for one time.

I turned in my vehicle to the dealer where I purchased it on 12/11/2011. I signed an odometer disclosure and thought that was the end of a lease. I was told in 2007 that it was a lease by the salesman at the dealership. I had purchased many vehicles from that dealer in the past and trusted the salesman. He said it was a lease and I would pay 4 years and then I could turn it in and walk away. I did just that. It took Ally 3 months to send me a letter informing me that my vehicle would be sold at an auction because it had been repoed. I received the letter on March 5th of 2012 and the auction date was March 11th of 2012. I have made numerous calls to get the vehicle back to restore my credit. I finally got a quote from Ally. I went to Wal-Mart to send money grams to the address provided by Ally. Somehow, they only partially collected my money grams. I don't even know how that is possible.

I am trying to refinance my home and this vehicle has been nothing but a pain in my ass. I finally got the vehicle from the auction house and called Ally for a statement to be sent to my banker. The lady informed me that I still owed $64.00. In the same breath, she told me I had overpaid by more than $200.00. They have trashed my credit and it seems they have very little knowledge about their jobs. They are very hard to understand because of their accents and are extremely rude. I am so frustrated with this whole situation. There is nobody at Ally who is willing to help. They just keep telling me to check back tomorrow. I am in possession of the vehicle and am unable to prove it to my banker.

I had called 5 times in one day to schedule a delinquent payment. The people at the agency could spoke very poor English with a heavy accent, and I could not understand her. When I asked to speak to someone I could understand, she started laughing and stated I was the one who cannot understand English. There was then laughter in the background, and then I was disconnected. I have been trying to call and keep getting disconnected.
