My son was a junior and he was interested in joining the Marine Corps. He was just getting bored with school and he thought it was a waste of time with the local public school. Mainly the problem in the past was that we would get reports that he’s not doing his homework. So then, we told him not to take it the wrong way and that we’re gonna ground him. He can't go out on a weekend unless he gets all his homework done. He would do it and he would make all A’s.

He was like bum-rushed. All his works he hadn’t done for weeks into a weekend or a couple of days, per weekend, and make an A. So we just felt like he was bored with school. We enrolled him in Whitmore and the reason we chose them was because it doesn’t seem to be fooling around unlike other online schools. Whitmore seems to look at it right and they were straight up about what they will make him do. They also arranged the classes where you just couldn’t just bum-rush it. Their classes were structured. I want the boy to have a good education. I didn’t want him just getting a diploma but I want him to learn something. Also, the enrollment process with Whitmore was easy. They talked to us, we went online, we filled the form out, and he was enrolled.

I’d also get a review once a week on his grades and his progress. That was as much as I needed. My son can’t get listed until he graduates, but he could take the ASVAB and the physical. So we needed certain letters from the school, nothing that wasn’t true. And the school has written back where he's at, the truth, and that’s what we took.

When he was enrolled, they said he has completed senior level classes. He is considered a senior in their school that allowed him to having a physical. And then when he graduated, we had to wait. It took four to six weeks for a diploma. It didn’t take that long, but that’s what they said, in two to three weeks. And then we told them he was really eager to get in the Marine Corps list and asked them if they can write a letter saying that he’s completed all his classes and will receive a diploma in the mail. They said, "Not a problem."

They worked with us when it came to the paperwork. It was never a challenge. In fact, when I told them he was joining the Marine Corps, they thanked him for the service and being all that. Also, when my son had a question about how he wanna work, within 24 hours, he’d always receive an email back saying, “Well, this is the way of doing this and this is why,” or “Yeah, go ahead and do that where I will allow it.” For any questions he had, he’d always get a quick response. My son also usually just gets up in the morning, run his four miles, come back and would lock himself in his room and do nothing but Whitmore all day. He’d come out for lunch then go back into his room. He really dedicated himself and he found it. I’d recommend Whitmore and say I’m satisfied with them.

Jason, thank you for your review. You have a lot to be proud of regarding your son's accomplishments at Whitmore School. As you stated, we are not an easy school, we don't just pass out diplomas to the students. Our successful students take personal responsibility for their education. That means they not only have to do their studies, they have to motivate themselves to actually get out of bed and do the work.
Please tell him how proud we all are of his success and that we wish him the very best serving in the Marines!!

A friend currently enrolled in Whitmore referred it. And between our family friend recommending Whitmore and looking up some of the other schools, we liked what Whitmore offered. Their enrollment process was very good. We are struggling a little bit with not being able to save some of the work though. There were several lessons our daughter had started over because the work was not saved. The computer's power went down and once she logged back into the computer, the work was not saved. When she asked Beth, her guidance counselor, about that, she said that you couldn't really say that.

My son had also done online schooling with a different school. All of his work gets saved. He can log in and out and he can stop in the middle and go back to it. If he has been working on algebra for a few hours and needs a break and wants to go to science, he can go back to it. At Whitmore, we can’t do that. But we figured out how to work around that and what we need to do to make sure that she completes the lessons without having to redo it.

Our daughter is currently enrolled in algebra, English, and history. But she will be taking science and foreign languages. We were able to compare Whitmore's cost with our son’s schooling and it is very comparative. We also like the tutoring aspect where we were able to pay extra and ask for a tutor, which has been very good. Overall, we’ve really enjoyed Whitmore Schools. It has been a good process and program.

My son was not happy with his experience in his public high school. He's kind of advanced and he felt like he was always being held back, waiting for the other students to finish work. He was looking for a change, something a little quicker than a traditional high school. After looking online at all of our different options, Whitmore School seemed to have the most of what we were looking for in a program. We then enrolled and the enrollment process was super simple and very easy. Also, whenever I've had questions, their team responded right away via email or phone. My son loves Whitmore and he's been much happier. He signed up for English, Biology, US History, and he's done stress management. The cost was fair and everything has been going to plan. So far I've been happy with everything.

Enrolling in online schooling for our child was the good option for our family. We like the flexibility of the high school course of Whitmore Schools and doing it at our own pace. Before we enrolled our child, I called and talked to someone in the office who was super helpful. She was an alumna from there and she gave me the reassurance that I needed. Then I worked with the guidance counselor to get our child's records reviewed. The enrollment process was very easy.

As far as instructors, our child hasn’t had any negative interactions. Every once in a blue moon, a teacher asked for something that they didn’t clarify to start with. But there's way less frustration than with teachers in traditional schools, so I’m very satisfied. I like the way that our child is held responsible for every assignment. They don’t just take an assignment that he didn’t put his full effort in doing and give him a low grade. They make him redo it, so there’s no point in not putting an effort the first time because he knows that he’s gonna have to redo it. We see a lot of that in traditional schools where the children say either that they don’t have to do an assignment or that they're just gonna do enough to get by. So, I love that they make our child accountable in that way. Every once in a while, he would complain about a teacher and I would say that his teacher didn’t like it in a traditional school a lot more than him, and he would say that I'm right. That was just a normal teenager complaining about a teacher and not any issues. We’ve been very happy with Whitmore.

Our daughter, who is autistic, was experiencing some bullying in the public school system. This is what led us to look for a homeschool option. We knew that we needed to homeschool her. Both me and my husband work and did not know how we would find time to homeschool her. We looked at numerous options before we found Whitmore School. I did some research and realized this was the perfect fit for our daughter and for us. They are affordable and accredited. Whitmore is organized and the computer system that they use is efficient and is always working. We have experienced no issues.

After enrolling her, she has thrived in academics and is learning life skills that she would not have learned in a brick and mortar school/public school. She is now a senior and is about to graduate. She loves Whitmore and wishes we had found out about Whitmore when she first enrolled in school. Their teachers and administrative staff are all very supportive and helpful. She has met with the principal for coffee to discuss concerns and her progress. Going this extra mile to travel and meet with students is a plus! We also paid the additional fee for a support coach which has really helped our daughter's oversight and kept her on track. We really recommend this service and Whitmore School all together. Thank you Whitmore School for all you've done for our daughter!

My child wasn’t doing well socially in the regular public schools and Whitmore School was a better fit for him. They had a military discount and the price was fair. You also don’t have to wait to start a class. You can just start them as you go and working on your time. You can do a couple of days a week or you can take a couple of weeks off. I really liked the flexibility. The enrollment process took a day and it was really simple to do. It took some back and forth, though, and we had to get transcripts over to them, but the initial stuff was quick. We got in contact with the personnel at Whitmore School when adding classes and making sure we got proper credit for previous classes taken, and it has been really quick and painless.

My child has gone through the normal prereqs, like English and Algebra. There were also a geography class and a history class. He likes Whitmore and he likes the flexibility. He has a job now and a regular school is not for him, so he definitely enjoyed that part of it. Overall, it is a really great school and we are fortunate to have found it.

We were looking for a better alternative for our children that better met their needs and Whitmore School had the approach that we liked where it was a lot more one-on-one type interaction and consistent interaction. It wasn’t just supplying the materials, then you’re on your own. There is the opportunity for feedback from the teachers and it is mastery-based instead of grade-based, so it really helps the students learn the material before they move on. The enrollment process at Whitmore went smoothly and the personnel we interacted with was very professional. Our two children have taken English, History, Geography, Computers, and Environmental Sciences, as well as working on Biology, through Whitmore.

The only thing negative is that a lot of information is assumed outside of the lesson itself, so the students have to go out and do all sorts of research. It can get very complicated if you have a 15-year old trying to make sure they know what direction to go to try and find the right information out there. Also, when the questions are posed at the end of each lesson, on a regular basis, we have found that our child has answered the questions. But, the teacher will come back with additional questions beyond the boundaries of the lessons or of the questions they originally passed, and it is not a passing grade until they answered those as well.

So, it takes a lot more time for the back and forth on things that if they were essential, they should have been included as part of the original lesson and questions. Some of the back and forth takes too much time. How long it takes to complete all the lessons and complete a course is extended beyond what is necessary to cover the material, so I think it could be made a bit more efficient.

I attend online school myself. But we were having trouble finding a good fit for my daughter here locally. I saw a lot of good reviews and positive feedback about Whitmore School and enrolling with them was very easy. They just asked for usual transcripts from previous education, and then enrolled her in class. The price is also fair. The interactions that we had with the reps were great. We even had an issue once and they were very positive about resolving it. My daughter is taking a couple years of high school, so she is taking General English, Math, History and Psychology classes with Whitmore. She really enjoys the flexibility.

Whitmore had good reviews and it was not terribly expensive. In addition, the enrollment process wasn't difficult. It was all online and we didn't have to send in any documents. The school personnel then called to let us know that my two kids were enrolled. They took us through what to expect and everything was through email after that. While I had a call from them a couple of times, my interactions were always positive.

So far, the quality of education offered is good. I like the fact that it's based on my kids' mastery of the subject versus just getting a flat grade, and not having a chance to go back and fix their mistakes or understand where they went wrong. They have to master the lesson before they can move on. It might take them a few trials, but they'll eventually get it. It's better for them as far as learning and knowing that it's not all or nothing. Although they do a good job, there's not as much pressure and they learn better that way. The experience has been very good and we'll keep using Whitmore.

My daughter needed to enroll in online schooling because she is working and could not go to a traditional school. Whitmore is accredited and recognized as a viable substitute for traditional school. We chose them as we wanted to make sure that it would be something that would translate into a positive application for college. Their enrollment process is very easy. They take care of analyzing your transcripts and let you know exactly what remains and what you need to do. My daughter has taken English, chemistry, environmental science, Algebra 2, geometry, and more core classes.

Everyone at Whitmore is very pleasant too. My daughter thinks that her teachers are really great. She enjoys them. Also, the quality of education Whitmore offers is absolutely worth the cost. The curriculum is more rigorous because they don’t have regular tests, so they’re very detailed with their lessons. They also make sure that the child is grasping the contents, which is why my daughter is testing so well in her SATs and her ACTs. If you're considering enrolling your child in Whitmore, make sure you have a very self-motivated child.

It has been my experience in the last 30 years that the brick and mortar public schools are not education-based, and that they don’t really teach children how to go out into the world and teach themselves anything new. But with Whitmore they had the basic classes that my kids need to be able to function in the world. They have enough extra classes so that if my children choose to go to college, they will be prepared for that. They have a large student base, and they’ve been around for a very long time. And many of the other online schools, whether they’d be public or private, seem to be lacking in some of those areas.

The enrollment at Whitmore is also extremely easy and non-invasive. Their personnel is well-informed and polite. I’ve been very pleased with the cost and quality of everything except for the math tutor. Also, my daughter Faith doesn’t like her government teacher and she hopes there are more foreign language classes. Also my kids don’t have smartphones and in order to make their classes fully functioning, they have to have a smartphone. Nevertheless, I recommend them.

We knew we were going to travel quite a bit and eventually immigrate to a new country, so we decided to enroll our son in an online high school. We chose Whitmore because they were fully accredited, convenient, flexible, affordable, no textbooks required, and they encourage mastery learning. The process to enroll was straightforward and efficient, and you can begin the program within a few days. My son has been attending Whitmore for about 5 months now, and he absolutely loves it. He actually wants to learn now, which is a HUGE plus in my book. My son knows he will be given the time he needs to master what he is learning, which gives him the confidence to fully absorb the material, stay consistent and on track.

If you get a bad grade in a traditional school, you are not given a chance to figure out what you did wrong. They move forward whether you learn the material or not. A "D" in a traditional school is considered a passing grade, so you can literally go through an entire course and not learn anything at all. That is not a quality education and will not prepare your child for the real world. Another plus about Whitmore is that my son no longer fears test taking, because he knows that if he doesn't do well, he'll be given a chance to figure out what he did wrong and correct it. Thus, he's actually fully learning the material before moving on. I wish all schools encouraged this learning style.

Since beginning the Whitmore program, my son has been fully motivated and self-disciplined in his studies. I never have to remind him to do his work, because he no longer has the anxiety and fears about learning that he did in public school. My son also loves that he can easily message his teachers whenever he needs help, and they are really good about responding promptly. Overall, learning should be a positive experience, not riddled with fear and anxiety. Fostering a love of learning through mastery is, in my opinion, the best way to educate. Thanks, Whitmore. :)

Online schooling has a more personal and direct approach. It is self-paced, has advancement opportunities and no drama. When I saw Whitmore online, I went to their website and downloaded a number of the testimonials which were nothing less than 5.0 out of a possible 5. They were also describing circumstances where when a student travels or has to have a very special schedule. Their enrollment process was painless and I make regular payments on the first of every month. It's affordable. I am surprised though that more parents within my local school system are not taking full advantage of this. In my daughter’s case, the local public schools are fine but they do not offer individual attention. They progress at the rate of the slowest child in the room which I find unacceptable.

So far, Whitmore has been outstanding. My daughter is carrying four subjects right now. We are ahead of the curve and I would like to see additional subjects. Also, Whitmore could accelerate the program and be more proactive so it would keep my daughter better occupied. She comes out of her classroom every day telling her daddy that she is bored. I appreciate though the weekly reports and the links for inquiries to ask additional questions about how the progression is going and how the grading system is performed. They keep the parents fully engaged in the loop. I print the reports and give it to my daughter then we sit down and discuss. Then, when she is near the completion of a project such as Spanish, she anticipates the next challenge.

My son suffers from a medical illness that causes him to miss school. So after getting sick this year, his counselor recommended that we finish online so it wouldn’t mess up his senior year. We chose Whitmore since its curriculum seems to be in line with what I was looking for, in addition to the flexibility. It was super easy to get enrolled and everyone that I’ve dealt with has been very responsive. But their technology is a little lacking in the way that we as parents have to communicate. I've only had one issue though. There was a technical issue that they weren’t able to explain and they were kind of blaming my son. But in the end, he had not done anything. Still, that’s probably the only bad experience I’ve had and everything else has been great.

My son is taking English, history, Spanish and one of their required courses and the overall learning experience is good. But he had been in private school for so long that although Whitmore's curriculum is challenging, sometimes I feel like he’s not challenged enough so he loses focus. He gets bored because he knows he can do it all at one time. But for the most part, it's been really good.

We were not happy with how the public school system was working for our son and we were looking for an alternative. Whitmore School was accredited with the needs of the state and met the needs of the state accreditation and the enrollment was really easy. There was a phone number that we called and we were able to talk to a representative that put us with a counselor. Then, the counselor talked to us about our child, where we should place him, and which program would work for him.

Our son learned to self-pace because that was one of our main concerns was the challenging effect of public school. When he had questions to his teacher, he could communicate directly with her through emails and the response time was pretty quick. If there were other issues, we could also call the school and get in touch with the counselor right away. And we as parents got a weekly update of how he was doing and his pacing throughout his courses. Although sometimes my son would learn really quick but he won't seem to retain the information as quickly. So, sometimes I wonder if repetitive work that forces him to just finish at his own pace, but like you have to keep doing things.

Other than that, it was good because, in some areas, he would work really fast on a subject and ignore another subject. So, then there was a point where even the teacher said, "You could slow down on this part and take your time. There's no rush to get through the classes as fast as you can." So, it's really a developed pace to kinda encourage a child to work and also encourage the child to learn and not just rush through it. Also, the cost was adequate and reasonable. As far as the quality, it was great. I would tell others to definitely look into it. Online schooling is definitely one that has to fit your child. It's not for everyone. But it's definitely an option and it works for our son.

My daughter is a singer-songwriter and is pursuing music. The traditional pattern of Monday through Friday from 7:00 to 3:00 in the afternoon wasn't allowing her to do what she needed to do. So, she needed a more flexible program that was at her pace, but still challenging enough because she's a smart girl. We had the benefit of another friend being able to do Whitmore School and that friend had a good experience. Eventually, we chose Whitmore as well since they were very reasonably priced at the time when we first started. Since then however, they have increased their price.

Whitmore School is self-paced and students have up to a year to finish the class. For our daughter, their curriculum was challenging enough after we saw what it was. It was college level. My daughter was an honor student before, so we needed to maintain that same level. The enrollment process was easy. We had to get the transcripts from the school, send them over to the Whitmore people, and they did all the necessary stuff to make sure we weren't gonna be falling to any type of short-listing situations in transferring.

My daughter took about all the classes required for graduation but there were a few electives that she didn't take. Math and Foreign Language can be very challenging for a student. That could use a little more modification and we talked to the people at Whitmore about that. My daughter had already accelerated and taken Foreign Language in earlier years, like in middle school, to get high school credits. And so, she only had to do half a semester. And I said to the staff at Whitmore, "The only thing is your foreign language. How do you know you're enunciating it correctly using the right inflection?" They said that they had hired a new person who started to do video stuff into their curriculum. So, they're very open. They also apologized that my daughter already went through it.

Our experience with Whitmore has been great. I heard other parents talk about what they do for the K-12 programs and Whitmore is better. Whitmore actually puts more of the burden on the student to grow up and be responsible than letting the parents intervene for the child, which I like because we need to prepare our child. I recommend Whitmore for kids that need the non-traditional approach for dedicated students that are doing something else. If the kids are studying gymnastics or training to be in the Olympics, this is a good program for those students.

I called several different online school programs and Whitmore’s customer service got back to me quickly and made it easy for me to register. The enrollment process took about a half of a day just to email back and forth in registration, and my son was ready to go. He was able to do it in his own pace and over the summer.

A college guidance counselor helped him think through the different courses and his different interests. The work ethics course was the most impressionable high school course that he had taken during his high school career. It was only a half of the semester, but it really got him thinking about work ethics and what kind of employee he wanted to be, what kind of people he would like to work with, and he even improved his work environment during his part-time job experience. That one truly made an impact on his life. The quality of education was very good and we had a wonderful experience. We would highly recommend this school and we’re actually looking at it for my son’s younger brother as well.

My daughter is having the most positive experience with Whitmore School this fall. She is a sophomore and has always been a public school, brick and mortar student through 9th grade, but it just hasn't been working for her. The learning method at Whitmore is mastery based and is an amazing way to learn. She does an assignment and is able to do revisions until she really has mastered the topic at hand. She feels as though she is actually learning instead of just putting information on paper to hand in for a grade (the public school way) and if the grade is bad, the class just keeps on going. The other great thing about Whitmore is their teachers. They respond to assignments in the timeframe that Whitmore says. They care. They are encouraging. They are supportive and motivational, and these are my daughter's words. Yes, you can have this kind of relationship with teachers in an online setting.

My daughter used to go to a Montessori school so going to Whitmore is a better transition than going into a regular high school. With an online school, there is more flexibility for extracurricular activities. At Whitmore, the program is all online and you have to read it all. It would take a little bit of getting used to but it's definitely working out. And compared to other online options, Whitmore was year-round. It also had a lot more flexibility and better options. Enrolling was also very quick and easy. It was all done online. I just filled out the application and paid. The cost is very fair because my child is definitely getting more one-on-one attention. She has been in Whitmore for a year now and she's done English, American Government, Algebra and Earth Science, among others. And it's been a good experience overall.

The members of the school administration are highly effective and responsible people. Honestly, I do not have a single complaint because they always treated me with respect and attention. The platform is designed with a good structure, a structure totally easy to understand for both students and parents. The teachers care that students understand the lessons. In my case, my teachers answered all of my questions with complete information, and they never expressed any dissatisfaction regarding my multiple questions. Actually, it was the quite opposite, they always encouraged me to ask any questions I had in mind.

Personally, I liked the lessons within the classes, but my favorite parts were the assignments as they helped me apply everything I had learned. Also, the dynamics of the assignments vary, so the assignments never bored me. The best thing about the Whitmore School is that they are open to receive recommendations in order for them to help the students in the best way. As an international student, whose native language is not English, Whitmore School was a challenge but a gratifying challenge. I would definitely recommend this school, in fact, I recommend it whenever I can.

My grandson, Nathan, was not having a really positive experience in high school. We looked and talked to a couple of other schools and we felt that Whitmore School's philosophy and core curriculum were beneficial. They seemed to meet more of his needs for the future because his plan, whether he goes to a trade school or college, is to have a high school degree. We got a good orientation to what Whitmore was about and we got to explore the curriculum. Then we had to get a copy of his transcript. The people at Whitmore were very patient and they explained everything thoroughly. They were informative and pleasant and I had great interactions with them. I only have positive things to say about our experience with the whole enrollment process. And as far as the payment method, it worked very well.

Nathan is taking World Geography, Anatomy and Physiology, and English right now and he's a lot more motivated. He is now working on a paper for English, so he's solely focusing on his English classes to get that done. Whitmore gives him the flexibility to go back and forth to the curriculum, which he cannot do in the high school environment. And if he wants to get up at 6 o'clock in the morning to start freshly in the summer lecture, it affords him that opportunity. Nathan was truly anxious before but now he's open to ideas. I'm very satisfied with Whitmore School.

We were travelling internationally with our children so I needed a school that would be recognized when we return to the States and that the credits would be accepted for our daughter. I looked at a few different resources for online schooling and Whitmore came up as one of the schools that were on multiple sites. And then my daughter and I looked at the curriculum to see if it would honor what she had done as a freshman in her California school and what she was interested in. We also needed a school where everything can be done electronically. We wanted an online program where textbooks won't be needed and tests won't have to be mailed to us or proctored. So we've been very happy with Whitmore.

The enrollment process was very easy and my daughter is now taking sophomore year of high school. And being the student, she has more interaction with the Whitmore school personnel. But when I have a question for one of the counselors, I usually get a response within 24 hours via email. My daughter had a bit of a struggle trying to manage her time in the beginning, but she got into the groove. She has really enjoyed the program and she has done really well with it.

Whitmore is one of the more expensive online curriculums available but it met our needs. My daughter is at camp right now and so she sent us a letter. And I’ve noticed how her writing has really improved over the span of a year. She improved in her English class and it wasn’t just ticking boxes and going forward but she gained some knowledge. She had a substitute teacher for English that caused her some stress coming up against a timeline and who also gave her some extra assignments. And she really wished that she had her main instructor for the last three weeks of that class.

When we enrolled our son at Whitmore School, the process was straightforward. We contacted somebody there and had to go to our school and get some paperwork and send it along. I have read the reviews that we could find online about Whitmore and they seem to have challenging courses. Right now, my son is completing eleventh grade, so he has general studies and then a few electives. So far, he finds it difficult to be self-starting. Since there's not a lot of interaction, teachers or classrooms where you get to collaborate, you have to just go and find everything yourself.

On the other hand, we find that he retains information much better. In the past, after he comes home from school and asked how it went, he would just say fine. Now, he comes home and tells us all the stuff he had learned. Meanwhile, our interactions with the personnel have been on an as-needed basis. My son reaches out when he has an issue, and they'll reach out if they feel he's falling behind. But other than that, they're self-sustained. And with the cost of around a couple thousand dollars, it is affordable for most people. In fact, it's cheaper than a private school. Overall, we've been satisfied and happy with Whitmore.

My boy was headed into the ninth grade and he wanted to go to college. The school that he was in wanted him to take something called Jump Start or Head Start, which meant they were sending him to vocation school. I thought he was too young to do something like that. That was why we decided on online school. He has been behind anyway and not getting any schools. And we thought that we could provide some extra assistance ourselves this year. There were other options and one was free for the state but it was the same thing we were getting. He may need someone else other than the teachers at school and so we went with Whitmore School.

The enrollment process was very easy. We enrolled and told them what grade he was in. We also spoke with several people. They were all very interested. I can call anytime and they answer the phone. Right now, my boy is in a stress management class. He is also taking Algebra and English. He struggled with English and his English teacher is excellent and very patient. She is very specific about what she wants for him. She gives him no room for air and she gets kudos.

However, I can’t speak to the teachers directly. Whitmore encourages my boy to speak one-on-one with his teacher and tell her about his issue and speak with a counselor. It has been a good thing though. So, I have to go through his counselor who is very prompt and has solved every issue that we’ve had. She never failed to answer the actual phone. I can also email her and call her from 9 to 5. Whitmore School is the perfect school if you want to achieve college. Their cost was around 1,200 and we got way more than what we paid for.

My daughter wanted to be a professional ballet dancer, which requires about 30 to 40 hours of ballet a week, and so we needed a flexible time, which she had with Whitmore School. I did some research online and I looked at positive reviews for online schools. Based on my experience with Whitmore in general and talking to them about it in comparing to other schools, they were very reasonable in their cost. I've had excellent interactions with Whitmore's personnel. They were very responsive, very informative and I’m a huge advocate of it.

I don’t think Whitmore offers dual enrollment, which is something we offer in Georgia. It allows students who are smart in going through high school to actually dual enroll and get some of their core curricula out of their way for college. And those classes would actually substitute for their high school courses. They have to take a test, but they essentially become their high school course and they get college credit for it. So, it serves both purposes.

Other than that, from a learning aspect, my daughter is very smart and she seems really challenged with the courses at Whitmore. They have honors courses that she could take, and that was one of the reasons we chose her program. They don’t offer AT courses and it could be an issue for others. Nevertheless, path that my daughter wanted wasn’t really something necessary for us and she seems to be successful.

My son is dyslexic and on the high functioning end of the spectrum and is also extremely intelligent. This makes public school difficult, loud noises distract and frustrate him and as with any dyslexic, writing takes longer than average. The model that Whitmore offers is perfect for him. Focusing on three subjects at a time allows for mastery in subjects instead of struggling to keep things organized. His favorite subject this year was Conceptual Physics. My son was very unhappy at the school he was in and he told me he wanted to make a change. He did the research and he found that among the ones he was looking at, Whitmore School was the only one that was accredited. We went to the local college to see what they had to say and they seemed to say it was a fine idea. We did an inquiry and we sent Whitmore School the unofficial transcript at that time. Part of what we wanted to know since he did it mid-year was if he would lose some credits. They gave us an idea of what we would have to do.

The only thing I found frustrating was that my son was taking Language and we didn’t know until he was actually enrolled and they gave us his classes that they didn’t have any other Language. They did a pretty good job but that was a big one to say that they only offer two years of Language when most kids in high school often are taking three or four. They need to be clear and upfront about what they offer.

My son has gone through pretty quickly. He finished his junior year English, Psychology, Social Studies requirement and maybe History. He is in the process of finishing a Biology lab course. He took Test Prep and he's taking World Geography right now. He was in an International Baccalaureate program so the theory is now split. Three of the classes he was taking at his high school didn’t translate into anything like Language. He had an Integrated Math and they only have standard courses so that did not translate. He's just starting over which isn’t a bad thing for him because he didn’t do that one anyway.

With Whitmore School, there's a lot of one on one attention and this is particularly strong for my son. If he makes a mistake or if there's something he can improve on, he gets direct and very specific feedback and since he has a chance to redo it, he redoes it. He is much more engaged in his assignment and he works harder to do it well. He knows exactly what he needs to do and that's good. He just had so much work to do that he checked it all. He just did it and he didn’t really care if it was done well. It was like robotic. That is a great advantage and he is learning a lot.

However, my son was in the International Baccalaureate program so I don’t think the rigor is the same. It would be lower. And there's no testing which will be somewhat of an advantage or him. For example, he's not a Math person and he just goes through. He wants to learn it, but he also really wants to get it done. He keeps working at it to get it right. But getting tested two weeks later makes it a little easier. If somebody's actively interested in a cyber school experience, they already know that it's going to be somewhat independent.

We enrolled our daughter in online schooling because of the significant amount of homework from a regular school with being an athlete. She trains 20+ hours a week. An online school is offered through public education for North Carolina. However, if she has a competition out of state which is so many hours away, the school would still be considered as missed and with her schedule, it was not effective.

I called Whitmore School. This is the first time that we have done something out of the public education and they were able to answer all my questions as well as a few follow-up questions via email. I looked at probably 15 to 20 different online schools. I picked Whitmore for a combination of the courses that they had available, as well as their tuition, and then the feedback I had with them when I contacted them. I enrolled my daughter two weeks after my first communication with them. She already completed Physical Education, Science and another course. She’s currently enrolled in World Geography, Algebra and English.

The quality is definitely worth the cost. She currently takes three courses at a time based on the way that the schedule is developed and that has been advantageous to her because she has been able to focus within those areas. Compared to a regular high school wherein she does an English class for one year, in Whitmore School, she does that in about six months. And then goes to a semester that has her next three courses.

I really do like Whitmore School but there should be a little bit of improvement. They could increase the variety of courses. They have some electives like the community service work which we really like but I would like a higher variety of language, different options for sciences, and things like that. Also, my daughter said that there are things she may not understand at first that she has to get clarification on just because of the way the content is written or articulated.

I compared a lot of online schools and did some research on it, and Whitmore had the middle of the road where it wasn’t too expensive but still offered a good selection of classes and the ability to graduate easily. As far as the registration process went, the main thing that we had to do was online. I sent a message to them saying my daughter was interested and they immediately hooked me into somebody to contact with. And from that person, we sent in transcripts from my daughter’s normal high school. They reviewed the transcripts in 24 to 48 hours and came back with the classes she would need for her graduation requirements. My daughter has talked personally to some of the Whitmore School personnel.

The people in the registration were very easy to work with. I had a couple of questions before I fully signed her up and they were able to answer those questions very quickly for me so I felt comfortable spending the money in registering for the classes. She has had some really good interaction with some of her instructors that she’s had. She’s a perfectionist and whenever she has a problem or wants to resolve why she didn’t get an A, they had been really good with working with her. We weren’t sure what to expect because she hadn’t done online schooling before but it took her a bit to grasp how exercises were assigned and done.

The biggest thing for her was the limiting of how many exercises you can have out at one time before they were graded and brought back. That drove her crazy at first because she’s progressing at a quicker rate but she got used to waiting for the instructor to come back and grade and then submit things. I would definitely recommend Whitmore School and have recommended it to a couple of other people whose kids have anxiety too. It’s a good fit for our daughter Jenna.

Thank you for your review. We understand the high anxiety that students go through at traditional schools. When you take away that anxiety students can achieve their true potential. So glad to see your daughter doing well, please tell her to keep up the good work.

We weren’t happy with the quality of education our daughter was getting in the New York public school system and transferring schools is a difficult process after the first semester of school. We looked at all of the options and realized all the online schools were accredited. Whitmore School had been around for a long time. They had an interesting population of students and they were affordable so we reached out to them and got some more information. It was a bit different because New York State doesn’t recognize online schools, even though it’s virtually considered in most states like you’re going to a private school. In New York State, I had to go through a whole process with the Office of Home Schooling so I had to work with the counselors to get all of the information and they were great.

I had to provide the syllabi for all of my daughter’s courses that would be happening or, at least, a catalog description. I had to provide as if I made her whole teaching plan through graduation. They quickly approved it and we were all set to go. They then released her transcripts and I had to provide a quarterly report to them, but Whitmore School has been great in helping me. They provided everything I needed for that quarterly report. I emailed their main office and told them what I needed and they sent it to me.

My daughter loves the school so far. She’s already a junior and she’s doing really well in it. She feels they have superior material that she’s learning more than what she was doing in school. It’s self-paced so that’s nice. It also has a functioning of holding her back, slowing her down, that she can only do a lesson a day to send back. So it really helps her not to overwork herself because she’s one of those that would plow through everything really fast if it wasn’t paced like that. We like it and we’re really happy with it. I’ve already recommended Whitmore School to people.

My daughter has mild autism and she was very misunderstood by peers and teachers in our little town. Based on the reviews that we read and the feedback that we received, Whitmore School was the most responsive with regard to the questions of the kids in terms of teacher’s responses as well as administration to the parents. For the services we get, the price is right.

The enrollment was very quick and simple. We requested her transcript from her old school, her brick and mortar school, and we sent it to Whitmore. They came up with the courses that she would need towards graduation like English and Biology and she started within a week. She enrolled as a tenth grader. She took music appreciation too and she really enjoyed her teacher so she enjoyed the course. She also took Art History and Algebra. It is really smooth. My child likes it which is really the most important thing and it’s a good fit for us. She’s in Biology right now and there are a couple of labs and it will be interesting to see how that goes.

We’ve had lots of interactions with them and when I call, someone picks up the phone right away. They usually transfer my call and then I can generally speak to the person that I need to speak during business hours. They are always very friendly and helpful. We had some billing issues and I spoke with the billing department who happens to be the co-owner. He was also professional so everything in terms of phone communication was really top-notch.

Moreover, the price is great, and everything was smooth and wonderful. To this day, that is still what I get. When I need to leave a message, I would hear back from them within 24 hours, too. So far, my daughter has completed Algebra 1, English 9, half of the credit of American Government and P.E. We've been involved with Whitmore since August and it has been a great experience for us. My son was in a public school that was not quite a great place for him to be. Academically, he was having some issues and there were some other issues such as bullying. It wasn't a great school. So, he asked if he could do something else and I did some research and saw some consistently good reviews for the Whitmore School so I engaged with them July of last year.

There were a lot of reviews and feedback regarding high schools online, and there was a school in particular that caught my attention. It was a popular school located in Pennsylvania. I researched on that and I wasn't happy with some of the feedback that I saw. That was when I opened it up to exploring schools. The feedback that I got at Whitmore, from parents who had children and from students reviews as well, was excellent. They also have a great reputation. We went thru the whole route at the Better Business Bureau.

It was an online application. Once that was completed, I had to go to his school to get transcripts forwarded. It was simple. Attending an online school is very different. In a lot of respects, it's great since he has six classes this year and he was able to complete all of his daily work inside of a couple of hours a day. But the frustration, in the beginning, was not being able to ask a question and get immediate feedback. There was always a one day delay in emailing a teacher about something he may not have understood and then getting a response.

Compared to the tuition at private schools in our area, running about $12,000, the tuition at Whitmore was reasonable. My son took American History and World Geography. He's taking Career Planning, Algebra II and English class. His grades are incredibly good and are consistently 90 to 100 in every class that he's completed. Out of the six classes, he's completed three so far. He was given three at the beginning of the semester. And then, as he completed the class, it was replaced by another class. The guidance counselor has been terrific, and if I have any issues, then I call her. Other than that adjustment to an online school has got a lot of advantages and some disadvantages too. But it has been a great experience, overall.

The only concerning issue is the socialization part since it's very different. He’s not in a class of 25 kids. He doesn’t have that social experience that he would have if he was sent to school. But from a learning standpoint and the amount of work that he can get done in a relatively short period of time, since he’s not changing classes, having recess, go in a gym, having lunch, is very good.

Whitmore School was the only one I could confirm as being accredited for my son. We were overseas and we were pretty sure we were going to be traveling so, I figured that Whitmore would be the easiest way to get him through high school. We enrolled online and filled in our information, then because we were out of the country, we wired the tuition. It was a fairly simple process. My son took the entire high school curriculum and he seemed to learn really well. He got really good at writing and he was writing at a college level by his senior year. He also got really good at researching and compiling. He's been helping my husband edit his brief to his boss. He did really well.

They have a really attentive program where he's emailing back and forth through his system with the teachers. They do revisions until he gets the paper up above a B. He got almost straight A's. Whitmore was fairly economical. The education was top rate and I felt like he got total individual attention. The hardest part is you have to do it at home, where you have to make sure they sit down and do their work. But if you're going to homeschool they're a good way to go. It was like a really good private school and it was quite a good price for the experience. We're going to be sending him to college to spring, so he's pretty happy about that. It turned out to work out really well and it was a good experience overall. If somebody wanted to do an online high school, I'd recommend Whitmore.

Regular school was not something my daughter Laura was technically very well with. She wasn't interested in any courses and extra-curricular activities there. Her grades weren't as well as they should be and she wanted to advance quickly. She wanted to turn and would not graduate until this coming Spring, but she wanted to go ahead and try and get her two years in one year so she can go ahead and graduate. I looked through all online schooling options and kept looking with it online, and read all of the reviews. When I got to Whitmore School, I looked at their curriculum and how they did their schooling. Laura's not ever been really great at testing and it always messed her up. But she saw good things out of Whitmore really bad and walked away to say that they worked it when they didn't do the testing. They had their scores that they wrote a 9 out of 10, and she could do her work over if she needed to.

Once turned in, it wasn't set in stone. If her score wasn't what she was happy with or didn't meet what they need to, she could redo it and I liked that fact. I called Whitmore on the phone and I printed out a sheet and got Laura’s transcripts from her school here, and the school mailed it to Whitmore. I talked with Whitmore on the phone and we got her enrolled. We did most of the paperwork over the phone and any forms that I needed, I got offline. I only had to talk with the personnel a few times but every time I did, I was able to get them on the phone right away and they were able to take care whatever questions I had immediately. Laura took Honors Junior English and then, she took regular Senior English. She took a computer course. She had Economics and History that was a test course that she had to take, plus four more.

She did very well. Laura's always been big in computers and doing the learning experience on her own so she was very good with it. She interacted back and forth with the teachers, and I was able to go in and see everything that she did, all of her courses that she was working on, what she'd done, and the interaction between her and the teachers. And there were a few times that I even emailed the guidance counselors through her stuff. She noted to see what courses she needed to graduate. I looked around and Whitmore’s cost was comparable, maybe even cheaper than some of the ones that I found. It wasn’t outrageous and we got the one year. We had six credits that we can do in a year so we got the one price for all of them. It was fair.

It's a very positive experience, and I would definitely recommend them. It depends on the type of person. I told Laura that, I myself at her age, I couldn’t have had the discipline to be at home and go through all that. I knew with her being in high school that I don't have a call discretion and would not be able to homeschool her. And this school, she had the teachers right there. There wasn't anything I had to teach her. She interacted back and forth with the teachers and I was able to monitor it. And I also liked that fact. It was something where the teachers are there and she's got access to them and she can email back and forth when she has questions and stuff, which she did quite a bit with them. Our experience with them was very good and very satisfying.

I did some research about Whitmore School and asked a friend whose kids also went there. I heard good news about Whitmore so I decided to enroll my son. Everything with the enrollment process was easy. They have very good staff so all the time if I call, they answer the phone right away. They’re very nice, answer all my questions and help me through everything. I enrolled my daughter there, too. My son graduated and my daughter’s in 11th grade now. My son took Chemistry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, English 10, 11 and 12, and pretest. And my daughter took Spanish, World History, Algebra 1 and Geometry. Now she’s in Algebra 2, English 10 and Biology. If my daughter has any question, she sends an email to her teacher and they answer the next day.

I can afford to pay for my kids to go at Whitmore. The cost is reasonable for me and I pay some more money for tutoring in subjects. I need to have more tutor because my kids were in the public school before and they are not independent students. Sometimes they need someone to help and teach them especially in Math. My friend’s kids did so well on their own because they started online school when they were younger. However, my kids did not because my daughter was in public school until she reached 7th grade and my son until 10th grade.

We started with Whitmore in August and it's been an amazing experience. I did some research on online schools for my son who wasn't doing particularly well in the traditional brick and mortar. Academically, he was fine. So I wanted something that he could manage on his own. Whitmore School showed up on several of the searches for the top 10 online schools that I looked for. Their enrollment process was very easy as well. My son was able to start on the day I got him enrolled. We weren't able to get transcripts to show the grade level of my son right away but Whitmore had a conversation with my son to find out where he was at. They were able to figure out his level and put him in a few classes until the transcripts showed up. He now takes college prep courses and he's exceeding expectations. He's getting a solid A through everything.

Initially, when we started the online process, I was able to call and get a hold of one of the educators that was talking me through the process. I appreciated the transparency that they gave me on how my child is doing. I get a weekly report telling me what my son has done and how he's performing and any suggestions that they have for him to be successful. I also appreciated that the educators are all highly educated. I feel like my son is getting a good education, based on what I see. My son reads the lesson and if he has a question, he communicates with his professor and his professor would get back to him and give him some more guidance. Then my son submits what’s needed to be submitted and if there's a revision, his professor would ask him to work on it again. They go back and forth and have communication. It's helping my son’s written communication skills and prepping him for college.

My son is a student-athlete at a hockey program in New Hampshire and we live in New York. We only have limited options for the State of New York so, after looking, Whitmore was one of the ones that the academy he goes to recommended. I went online and signed him up. He got contacted by a guidance counselor and we provided them his old transcript and they decided on what classes he needed to take. The personnel has also been very helpful during the resolution of some trouble with the NCAA eligibility.

However, the cost is hard for me and it's probably not steep for what he's getting, but it's steep to add that to already having to pay school taxes. New York does not offer online free but other states do. It's about 50/50 down the middle. I would have had to give my guardianship of my child to someone else in order for him to do something different. I could have done it with a family member because my family member lives in another free state, but it was just a lot to do.

I would recommend Whitmore, but it needs to be partnered with a program that is working with the students because there was some very lightweight supervision at his academy. The guidance counselors and the teachers are in contact with him but if I was doing it and I had him at home, I would be supervising him and pushing him to get the time management that he needs to do online schooling. He's not getting that where he is. Also, the only thing that I've ever had my son tell me is every once in a while he had a teacher that was a little slow on the turnaround time. Because of some deadlines, I called the school and said, “You need to tell the teacher that she needs to be on that,” and that was fixed.

I got married young and was not able to finish high school, and wound up getting divorced young as well. I never really felt comfortable with the fact that I did not finish college, especially now my daughter started to get older. Enrolling in an online schooling was really for my self. When I talked to the people at Whitmore School, they were friendlier and seemed more willing to work with me trying to get records together that were older because I needed to have a longer history and a lot of it. It seemed more like you weren’t buying a diploma and you would have to earn it when you’re doing it for yourself. What’s the point of doing it if you’re just buying it? I could have bought one a long time ago.

I didn’t have any problems with the enrollment process. I got my school records together so that they would know how to place me. I interacted with the Whitmore School personnel online and was always positive whenever they gave me feedback, even if they’re trying to teach you or expound on an idea. I talked with them about what kind of track I was wanting to take. They let me know which classes were necessary because I work full time and I wanted to do one or two classes at a time. You just submit your assignments and if they feel that you need to do any more work, they’ll email you back and you submit to them again. My college studies were very science-focused so it has filled in those holes for me that I was missing and gave me a broader education, which was what I was looking for and what I felt like I was missing. I would recommend them.

My daughter had a rough couple of years and left her public school. She went to another school and stayed there for about a month and a half, but it was just not working for her. So Whitmore School seemed like the best option for her at the time. We had looked at another school, and due to the schedule, she made the switch right at the last minute. Whitmore had fixed classes per year that had to get done, but at your own pace, whether it was fast or slow. That appealed to her instead of having set classes per semester.

The enrollment was pretty easy and the price was fair. We contacted the counselors and they faxed some transcripts over. She took an English, a History, and a Science course. Plus, she did community service. She struggled with her initiative but the feedback she got from her teachers was good. Plus, she's found the course material adequate, not too easy and not too hard.

If there was a gap between turning in assignments, the counselor lets us know. In addition, we could always see her progress so we could keep track of where she was. She's 17 and I work during the day. This wasn't supplemental like homeschooling. This was hands off and more her thing than mine, so it was good that they kept in contact with me. Plus, the weekly digest was good. In addition, they actually called a couple of times instead of just emailing. I'm satisfied with them.

Thank you for your review. We are all very upset with the NCAA decision to cancel their relationship with us. We have been NCAA approved since 2010 and never had a complain or incident with them. We fought the decision from May to September this year, providing them with proof of student accomplishments and scores. All in all we gave them over 1500 pages of documentation and hours of attention. We are not sure the NCAA fully understands our self paced system that empowers students to take responsibility for their education.

My son was not traditionally schooled. He wanted to take high school classes but wanted to make sure that his classes were accredited. We decided to go with an online school and Whitmore School was NCAA rated and approved. The enrollment process was simple. I called up the administrator, filled out an application and talked to the principal because my son was younger and not really of high school age yet. And he submitted a writing sample.

A lot of the interaction between Collin and his teachers was just online. He's got a little box that he can communicate with them. My son has taken English 9, Science, Algebra, Economics, History, American Government, Personal Fitness and Safety. He also took Work Ethics and the Community Service class which was just logging hours in and some core and electives classes. We absolutely love Whitmore School. It’s very affordable and has good value. It's still small but we get personal attention. My son has been successful in his classes and his teachers were supportive and encouraging. I wouldn’t want to change it for anything.

We looked at every school that we could find and then we eliminated the ones that were too expensive or didn’t have the type of learning that my son was interested in. When we got to Whitmore, he looked at the curriculum and he felt that it would be something that he would be interested in so we chose them. He's in his second year how and their enrollment has been easy. Whitmore is very interested in my son as a student, and in his life that tied his goals and how it affects his learning.

Whitmore School is a great online program for kids. My daughter ballets and she has more flexibility in her schooling. Their enrollment process was easy and I’m happy with the cost and quality of the education they offer. The counselor was great and the administrators I talked to were very nice and helpful. They're doing a great job and we’re happy. My daughter is doing well and she will be taking two more classes this year. But they should incorporate Advanced Placement courses and Foreign Language in the curriculum. My daughter has to have two years of Foreign Language and she had to go to another online school for it. Other than that, I would recommend Whitmore School to someone.

Although we do not offer Advanced Placement courses, we do have many students enrolled in their local colleges earning duel enrollment credits.

The academy my son was going to was partnered with Whitmore and he was reclassifying for basketball, so we used the tools of BridgeGap to make sure he was NCAA certified. Whitmore sent me an email of what they provided and they met the requirements for NCAA Division I certification. They were endorsed by NCAA, so I signed up. My son was provided with the transcripts from the high school he was unenrolling from and things started within two weeks. The counselors were A+ and we have had great interaction, tried to be a bridge gap for communication as much as possible. The quick return on phone calls was very helpful. That part of the experience was well worth it and the rep took care of them, so she was very helpful. However, the teachers were an F-. An event happened which most children aren’t self-starters per se, so they need more instruction, interaction and question and answer back and forth.

There were quite a few days that would go by where my son would email the teacher and he wouldn't hear back for a day or two. Fortunately, he wasn't up against time. He only had to take one class from them and it was English, so he had six months to finish one course, but if anybody else was up against a timeline and wanted to finish the high school diploma to go into the military, get a job or do anything else, then it would have been lengthier for them. The students can't talk to a teacher and they have to go through a counselor. The instruction was very vague and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. Whitmore is overpriced, but I understand. I pay for convenience, so it's in line with everything else. I ended up paying $2500 for the class and I felt like it was out of bounds for that.

My daughter is a competitive surfer and travels a lot and so we needed a school with the flexibility. I looked into a lot of different programs and I didn’t see a lot of feedback on Whitmore, but I didn’t see any negative feedback as well. A lot of the other online programs, I had seen some negative reviews. I liked that they offered some honors courses and I wish that they offered more. She’s an honor student and I worry about her getting a little bit behind with some of the other things that she could have taken in public school. Also, it wasn’t a program where they still had to be present every day or get to work on a specific schedule and we needed that flexibility.

The enrollment process was easy. All of our interactions with them have been over email and they’ve been incredibly responsive, very fast, thorough, and helpful. My daughter has already completed World Geography, Social Studies and she’s taking honors English and currently Geometry, P.E., and Spanish. It’s been really good. Although, Spanish is really hard. Foreign language is hard to learn online, especially because there needs to be more phonetics introduced in terms of the lessons. The teachers are very helpful to her and they grade her work very quickly. They give her feedback and opportunities to correct things.

We read all about the online schooling options and chose Whitmore School. We filled and sent out forms for enrollment and then transcripts too. In the beginning, we had no idea how to do any of the stuff, so the lady at the Whitmore office taught us how to work the program. They explained it very well so it wasn’t hard to figure out. And now Ryan’s doing good. He's taken two English courses, a work ethics and one on coping with stress. The program is easy enough for the kids to follow. It could be challenging when the kids get stuff sent back to them but the staff help them and explain why they got the answer wrong, it's a good program. And it’s cost-effective. Whitmore School is really good.

We've been homeschooling since my son was in first grade. We pulled him out of first grade because he's dyslexic and dysgraphic and his teachers couldn't help him. Also, my youngest daughter has mastered the preschool program. She had been twiddling her thumbs and had done enough work that she was doing in kindergarten work, and we decided she needed to get challenged. We ended up homeschooling and we've been so ever since. We were in Corpus Christi and when we moved to Houston, we changed how we had done schooling. We had originally been doing it on our own but we had so many changes. My husband changed his job and traveled a lot more so we decided it was best if our children went online.

We wanted to make sure our son was in an online accredited program so we chose Whitmore School. It was a quick enrollment. I called them and had a number of questions that I asked them regarding the home training. They were able to answer everything for us and we provided them with the requirements they needed. Unfortunately, my daughter, who just started high school this year couldn't go to Whitmore because she has to have a NCAA-certified program and Whitmore lost its certification this year so we couldn't enroll her.

It was important for us, who have a dyslexic son, that his teachers could make sure that he was actually mastering the program not just going through the system. As parents, we get the notices from the counselors on a weekly basis. It's usually telling us whether my son is on track or if he needs to fix something. He's done most of the communication with the teachers. They made it very clear that this program is for him and he needed to do the work so we sat back and watched them do that with him. We usually email them and they get back to us anytime we have a question. It's mainly been on email but we've had a few phone conversations because of the situation like with our daughter. My son has done Community Service, Algebra I, World History, Science, and P.E. He's a swimmer, too. The education in Whitmore has been pretty good. I wish they had more electives.

My son gets easily distracted, he needs to work at his own pace and I felt like he’s bored. He wanted to move faster than what the traditional classroom setting could offer. Our daughter used Whitmore when it was CompuHigh a while back and we were pleased with the results. We also had a good friend who told us that they highly recommended it. So, we decided to enroll our son too.

Their personnel has always been responsive and they helped us out anytime we had a question like when they did not transfer or give him all the credits that he was supposed to have gotten from where he came from. So, we explained that to Whitmore and they actually contacted Katy High School and got that taken care of for us. We sat down and discussed as a family and enrolled Connor together. Their guy actually did most of the work himself and we found their enrollment process to be very easy and understandable. We think the quality of education from Whitmore is great and the cost is good too. The only thing that I think we would change is the fact that my son has to be finished by the end of September otherwise, we have to pay every month after because a new school year starts. We would rather have it paid monthly but we also can stop at any time when he graduates. So, that was the only downfall that we had. Overall, they’ve been great.

I home schooled and my son was getting to high school age and wanted to be able to have something a little more than what I could give. I did a lot of research and I know a lot of people who have done different things. I ultimately decided Whitmore was the best one for us and it was very easy to enroll. We got online and there's an assigned counselor who recommended some classes that we start with and we went from there. My son has taken math, English, stress management, and P.E. and he likes the learning experience a lot. The amount of work is good and manageable, but they're pushing him as well. There's a good balance.

Compared to a lot of online schools, the cost is great and really affordable. They let you do payments, and that's been nice. I've had kids go through public school and the quality of education Whitmore offers has been good. One of the main reasons we chose them too is because of their method. When the students submit an assignment and they don't do well on it or when they miss stuff, they can go back, figure it out and redo the assignment until they get a better grade and it's been good for him to be able to do that. All in all, Whitmore has been fabulous and it takes the stress out of the equation.

My son's an elite hockey player and was missing too much school with traveling sports. I Googled up and Whitmore was in the top 10 of good online schools and was accepted by most colleges. The enrollment process was pretty simple. Kathleen, the counselor, got my son's courses set up based on what he had completed at our local high school and carried the same courses on so it went pretty clean. My son thinks it’s a good education and he's learning everything he should be. He has all the same classes that he had at his old school. He knows a lot of the lessons that the school had planned. And that’s one of the reasons why we picked Whitmore over other schools. It’s a cheaper option but still well-rated.

We might be having a change come up very soon though. My son's going to be moving to Detroit and living with another family. In Detroit, they have a thing called TPH hockey school and they have their own online school. There’s a lot of elite hockey players there and a lot of the kids on the team that goes to this school. I’m going to be talking to the director if it’s possible we stay with Whitmore but go to a school if they allow that because theirs is an online school too. My son may be going to Sioux Falls or to Erie, Pennsylvania or Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and then he wouldn’t be at TPH anymore. So it might make sense to try to go to their school just to have a place to go to with other kids learning online but stay with Whitmore. We’ll think much about that in very near future.

There were times where my son’s at a division and it would be nice if they could have some quicker, more direct communication with teachers. My son goes to Stevenson High School and their AP classes almost expect him to do all the learning. He goes to school for eight hours and comes home with four to five hours of homework and he didn’t get anything done in those eight hours especially with 40 to 60 hours of hockey a week and our drive time. I wanted to see someone work a 100-hour work week. Overall, Whitmore takes a little longer to do things but everything’s fine.

My son is a senior at Whitmore School. He will be graduating around September 1st because he decided to take an extra class, just because he thought he needed it to be prepared for adult life. This educational mindset is in stark contrast to what my son's experience was in traditional school. For whatever reason, he always struggled in that setting, even though he is intelligent. As his parent, I became frustrated because I couldn't seem to find a "good fit" educationally for my son, even though I am an employee of my local public school district. When searching for possible private online school options, I found Whitmore School. I'm glad I did.

I've had only positive experiences with the Whitmore staff. In particular, Melissa, the admissions counselor, is always a pleasure to speak with. From that very first call I made to gather information four years ago to just recently, she has never failed to get my questions answered in a professional and friendly manner. The teachers have given my son the 1:1 learning assistance he needed due to his writing related learning disability and challenged him in math and science (his strongest subjects).

As far as constructive criticism, I have only one -- the lack of an online student community. (After speaking with staff about this matter a couple years ago, I understood the difficulty to be moderating such a forum). I still can't believe Whitmore School is able to deliver fully accredited, NCAA accepted high school classes and diploma programs for a fraction of the cost of a brick and mortar private school. Thank you, Whitmore School, for providing my son with a five-star education.

My daughter's high school counselor helped us do the enrollment process online and it wasn't hard. She's in a full-time school but needed an extra credit to graduate early. The lady that we worked with in Whitmore was very helpful. It was a good deal and worked out really well. My daughter took Probability and Statistics and she made an A in that course. She said the teachers were fine and didn't have any issues with them.

But the classes needed to move a little faster because my daughter had a graduation date to meet. I had an interaction with the administrator about that. We just had an instructor that will take a little longer than normal to get back with us on certain assignments. The issue was that we had been going over and over the same material and we needed to move on. The grade was an eight out of ten and my daughter was willing to take that. The administrator was business-like in dealing with that issue and they rectified that for us.

Overall it was a very good experience but I wouldn't put my kids at Whitmore full-time because my daughter couldn't do it by herself and I had to have tutors. Not unless the parents can stay home and just deal with that all the time with their child. If you're a homeschool mom, it's cool. But if not, your kids would need a lot of help. Nevertheless, Whitmore has a good program and it served our purpose for a one-time cause.

My son enrolled in online schooling because he was trying to graduate early from high school, which he did. He had a list of online schools that were accepted and brought by his school. Whitmore is definitely accredited and when my son saw it, he was interested in it and we got it approved through his high school. With the other schools that we had looked at, you have to go through so many numbers and go through a lot to speak to a person. And you normally speak to the computer more than a person.

With Whitmore School, I called one number and got directly to a person. And anytime I had any questions or if I needed something, I call that number and they were right there. Every time I called, I always got a live person. And if the person that answered the phone didn’t have the answer for me, they got someone who has the answer. So I never left a conversation without having my question unanswered, which I really appreciated. And everybody that I spoke to on the phone was always extremely courteous. So it made the experience pleasurable and fantastic.

My son took Personal Finance class and then an English 12 class. He really liked it. And of he had to do the work until he mastered it, which was different for him at first. He was in the public school and if a student didn’t get something right, then what they did wrong would be marked and they'd be given a percentage. In Whitmore School, you do it until you master it all, then you get credit for it, which is good. It took some getting used to, but he really learned quite a bit while taking that program.

The cost was reasonable for what my son received. And then being able to speak to someone personable on the phone versus having to go through the computer makes it reasonable. The people that I communicated with on the phone left a very good impression on me. I called quite a bit because I had so many questions and they were so patient with us. They had so many students to deal with, but they made me feel like I was the only person they had to tend to. I really appreciate their service and help. If given the opportunity to take another course, we would use Whitmore School again. And I definitely commend them for doing wonderful things and I will continue to recommend them to my friends.

So when I was looking for a Math tutor, I called the local lady and she recommended Whitmore School because she told me she worked in a public school before and she didn't like the environment. So I tried it. I choose it because of the high school environment which was not a structured one.

During the enrollment process, I had to get my son's shot records, his I.D., and transcript and fax them in. It was easy and it took a day’s work. Whitmore then called back with the decision. The personnel were very helpful and were willing to assist. They communicated with me and also did so mostly with my son. There were a lot of activities going on that you could attend. It was fabulous and enjoyable. It helped my son get through high school 'cause he had some problems in high school with peer pressure.

With my son's condition, the regular high school did not attend to his condition as they should have. I would be at the school almost every single day. I got frustrated and it was coming to a lawsuit. The school did not address his IEP as they should have. He was also supposed to have a testing but they did not do that. They had a plan where they would have to go by if anything happened or depending on the incident, but that did not happen. They told me that they did not have enough people. In the end, it didn't work out for me, my son and the school.

My son is one who likes to be seen and favored. That's his personality. He takes his medication but then it wears off. So I felt like the home environment was the best for him and that was the best decision I ever could have made for him. With Whitmore, he had a counselor where he would go in every day if he had any problems and he had a one on one teacher online for his IEP services.

He took Math, Social Studies, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. He also took Time Management, U.S. History, Probability and Statistics, 11th and 12th Grade English, Academic Support, Environmental Science, Anatomy, Guidance, and U.S. Government. He took law enforcement too and he liked it. His favorite was European history. He had some problems with his Math because of his condition, but for the other subjects, he got a lot of learning. It was in a set up where he could understand. He had the option of doing small portions and going back doing another portion. So the school is perfect for any kid that has ADHD.

The best thing I like is Whitmore has a time period but you're not rushed into doing your work. They want you to be finished with the class within three months and that's good. And then they let you extend it over through the summer if you have to. My son is behind and with that summer extension all the way through August, it allowed him to catch up so he could graduate because he came in sort of late anyway.

A lot of parents are not aware of all of the options for online school. An online school should be something that is a choice that high schools should mention during orientations. An option should be mandatory to let all the parents know a list of all the schools that are available or get them some type of website to let them know what's available as online and what online school offers. Overall, if anyone is looking for an online school, Whitmore would be the school of your choice.

I have 2 sons who used Whitmore School for part of their high school experience. One graduated in 2015 and one in 2017. My oldest has a very mild expressive and receptive language disorder. This made high school very difficult for him because there were too many distractions and things moved too quickly. CompuHigh was perfect for him because he was able to do school in a quiet room and at his own pace. He also wasn't a very motivated student as he got older, so the General Studies program was perfect because it was simpler and faster. My goal was to get him graduated and now, 2 years later, he finished plumbing school and is making more money than all of his friends who graduated locally.

My next oldest has anxiety issues. Going to school gave him horrible headaches and made him hate life. He had friends, he just couldn't get past the way being at school made him feel. CompuHigh worked perfectly for him. He took the extra time he had during the day (because he wasn't wasting time at traditional school) to teach himself more than one coding language and to start a website design business. He starts college in the fall. If traditional school isn't working for your child, CompuHigh is worth a look.

My son has been in public school since kindergarten, but his educational demands are no longer being met, so we opted to enroll him somewhere else for 9th grade. We narrowed the choices down to four schools. We focused on the ones that offered a demo program and the ones that had the best reviews from other parents. When we decided on Whitmore, it was because my 14-year-old son went through several demonstration classes and we got a real feel for what reality was going to be when school started. Plus, my son liked the user interface and they have a one teacher to one student ratio, so the student works directly with the teacher, which is a huge impact on learning.

We filled out the application, went through the process and got enrolled within a week and as soon as he started, my son was identified as needing to be in the college prep honors program. He’s taken honor English, algebra, and American Government honor. He’s also taking a science course, physical education, fitness and safety, and a community service course which teaches kids about giving back to their community. Next year, we’ll work on Spanish and all the others. It’s nice that he’s following a program. It wasn’t something that I had to come up with. Everything is through their user interface, including talking to his teachers, and that’s good because it forces him to really think about what he needs to ask instead of being impulsive.

My son had to put a lot of thought into everything he did because in order to get credit for his work, he has to write everything up and if there is something that he didn’t master or get, they’d send the assignment back and tell him, “Well, this isn’t quite right. You need to adjust this or you need to do this.” The child can ask the professor questions, but they really try to force the child to think through and problem-solve, which I really like. As a parent, I get a weekly report that states exactly what my child did during that period, where he’s standing in all his classes and what he needs to work on. The guidance counselor reaches out to me when there’s any concern and I’ve been in touch with the director of the school. They’re very approachable and they’re very quick to respond and go over any concern. The longest I had to wait to get a response is 24 hours.

At first, I was really hesitant about online schooling, but once we took the jump and my son started going through it, I would not go back for anything. It’s the way to go for students or individuals who have a learning style that needs more than what they get in a mass public system. We’ve paid about $1,600 for his entire year, and we’re very pleased with what we’re getting. There were challenges where it was much more advanced to what he got in public school. The public school basically teaches memorization, while in Whitmore, it is more putting the assignment in the child’s hand and saying, “You need to go do x, y and z.” and giving them a little bit of latitude to figure that out. It was harder but it’s good because it has prepared my son to be ready for a higher edge phase or for college. The level of learning is like he’s going to a junior college.

My son plays Junior hockey so he moves away and is usually not in town. I searched for online schooling options and I like the way Whitmore's program was set up. They're also one of the few approved schools by NCAA. My son is a junior standing right now and he’s part of the NCAA program. So he takes those courses which are a bit more difficult because he's got to follow the NCAA rules. They’re core courses, and he’s had some electives, too. I really like Whitmore's program. My son came from a very well-known Catholic school and Whitmore's curriculum is up to par with that. They’re really there to help him get through his education. Any questions or concerns that I have or my kid has, they respond immediately. They always have available counselor which I'm in constant contact with all the time. They’ve been wonderful and the teachers there are great. It’s been a really good experience so far.

It has pretty good reviews too. We talked to them several times before we filled out any official paperwork as I had questions back and forth. I wanted to know how the classes were conducted. Their staff was wonderful. They were willing to answer any questions, not just for parents but also my daughters. We had a great time and a great interaction with the teachers. They were always available for questions. The students converse back and forth with the instructors via email, which the parents have access to at all times.

The learning experience was pretty good and it's a little different depending on the class. From what I've seen, a lesson is given, whether it would be by a lecture or a video, via text, pictures, all of that sort of things. And then after a lesson is taught, there's always an assignment depending on what the class is. It's been a great academic experience.

My daughter's a gymnast and she goes to practice two days a week in the morning and then with the other girls at homeschool. One of the girls in our gym uses Whitmore and was talking about it. We looked into it and decided that that would be a good program for her because they have the NCAA program that will keep her eligible. We contacted them and talked a little bit on the phone and I asked what do I need to do to get her signed up. We paid for it and my daughter took over after that. She's in her General Ed classes and she has done her own studies, we don't have to really watch over her. She's very self-motivated and self-driven. She's not one of those kids that you have to worry about so we've just let her take it and run with it.

As a teacher myself, I've watched what shes been doing and I'm really pleased. I have just known within the last month and a half that I get weekly updates from her adviser. I didn't have that the first half of the year and I didn't have a lot of communication with them. Some of it was my fault because I just never had time to check on it. Recently, her counselor has been sending updates, which I enjoy receiving, that says how many courses she has, how many lessons she have left to complete the course and what her grade is in the lesson. She was doing fine in her classes and she got all As. Next year I'll be more proactive in making sure I have information on how shes doing.

My son is in public school high school, there's no way he could do what she's doing. I think as a high-level athlete, they spend 16 to 20 hours a week in the gym and they have to know how to balance their time and they have that discipline for their schoolwork. She likes that because she doesn't have to deal with high school dramas. I would recommend it to any of my friends looking to homeschool their kiddos and needing a program because Madison's been very pleased. It’s a fair price for what you’re getting. My daughter can email her teachers and get a feedback. I love that she's able to go back and correct lessons because I saw they learn when they go back and fix mistakes. I think it's great.

So instead of tying up her entire existence in senior year, we decided to go with Whitmore. A couple of friends had their children on it and they said it was a good program. Enrollment was fairly easy. I talked to some of the folks and the rep lined up what classes Katelyn needed to take. Throughout the year, as Katelyn would finish a class, they'd sign her up for the next one. I was paying about $6000 a year for a private school, so $1700 was a much-refreshed change. I was very satisfied and we're just waiting to get the diploma and stuff taken care of.

The enrollment process wasn't complicated. The cost was a little high but they were great and very responsive. The only issue we ever had is that sometimes it took the teacher a little while to get back to my daughter on work and questions. She could only go so far and had to be graded before she could move to the next lesson. Also, at the end of my daughter's tenure with them, we had some complication because her father passed away and she was not able to make deadlines for graduation. Whitmore was amazing as far as giving her an extension to graduate past the technical contract date that was paid for. I would recommend them.

My boss told us about Whitmore. He has a high schooler son who is on a national travel hockey team so regular school wasn't going to work. My daughter was unable to walk in to school because she had panic attacks and was unable to even participate in anything. So, enrolling her there was the only choice. We did not want to go the GED route and we wanted that diploma. I called and their rep sent me a form. We filled out the form and submitted it electronically.

We sent the transcripts from the high school and they did an assessment as to what was left to do. And then, a counselor called her and they figured out what classes she wanted to take. And they went from there. So far, she went from F's to A's. So, she felt great about the results. The only thing she had a problem with was the responses from the teachers. She had a lot of things already to deal with, but the teachers can only do so much of the time. And so, she has to wait a while unless she has to make some changes, and then submit it again.

At first, we were weary of online high schools because there's a lot of them there just to scam. And so, we wanted to make sure we had one that was recommended by somebody. When we saw what Whitmore was and saw that it was accredited, we decided that would be a good way to go. Their strategy there was a whole lot better wherein their students have a chance to fix their paper and send it in again if they didn't get it right the first time. It helps them to learn more. However, they're expensive but it was online and if you were in a situation we were in, you really don't have much of a choice. It's $1500 per year and within that year, they've got to get everything finished. Otherwise, they'll have to subscribe to another year.

My daughter had anxiety and she was having a hard time finishing up her senior year. Whitmore School was what she needed and it came highly recommended. When I spoke to their principal, she was so amazing that I signed up my daughter immediately and it changed her a hundred percent. It gave her the confidence to go to college and not suffer with anxiety any longer. She took the rest of the classes that she needed to graduate. The principal gave her so much support, was really thorough and she happens to be one of the teachers too. So, she inspired her to break out of her box and write things that she normally wouldn't have done. She calls me personally and tells me what a good mom I was and it helped me understand what my daughter is going through.

My daughter already got accepted in the college before her senior year got into play. She dropped out of her senior year two weeks into the semester and she only had six weeks to graduation. Whitmore helped her punch, punch, punch. She got her final degree three days before she moved in her dorm. Her principal was calling me every day telling me where she was at. She knew that everybody was patiently waiting and without the anxiety she had the ability to push it through the whole summer and take her time.

The principal is in South Carolina and my daughter is in college in that same town. And since my daughter never had a graduation, she said that she and her husband will come to Charleston and have our whole family here put on a graduation and a party for my daughter. But I didn't let her do that because my daughter already had been in college when we talked about that. I couldn't believe that she’d come a 100 miles away to have family and friends do a real graduation with a cap and gown for my daughter from her private online school. In fact, she even gave a $500 scholarship for us because we financially couldn't afford a lot of it. She's wonderful and we love her.

Whitmore prepared her so well and gave her confidence, and the teachers wrote her with constantly good feedback and positive reinforcement. So, she didn't need to use her disability services until the second semester of her year in college. Overall, it was wonderful experience. Whitmore definitely has a loving environment. And, none of us have met the principal face to face but I feel like we're going to be friends forever. She even wrote me to ask how Megan is doing in college. I recommend that school to everybody even if I serve as the head of the board of my daughter's former high school.

The personnel was very friendly and helped me to find anything needed. I could just ask them if I didn't understand a question and I usually got a response back within a few hours.

I took three English classes, two Math classes, and a history class. The only difficult ones were the Math classes and that's 'cause I'm not good at Math at all. But it wasn't that difficult once the teacher explained everything in a much easier way. The English and History classed were fairly easy. There was just a lot of essay writing. The teachers were all very good too. There was no question that I asked that made me feel stupid. If you asked a question in a regular school, you might be ridiculed by your classmates. But in Whitmore, there it's a one-on-one interaction and you don't feel that anxiety. Overall, Whitmore School is the perfect school.

We went with Whitmore since I like their curriculum. They were also accepted by our state easily enough. So, they were on the approved list already.

The enrollment process was easy. The first year, we had to get our school records, but it's very self-explanatory. The school personnel has always been very friendly. Anytime I had a question or when we need a paperwork from them to show our state that our son was currently enrolled and to get a driver's license and all that, they are quick to respond and get back to us.

Our son has had Math and English every year. He's taken Reading, Spanish, Career Planning, and other courses. He's been there for three years, so he's taken quite a few of them. Education at Whitmore costs us a little. It's more expensive than what we would be paying for a public school, but it's really worth it because the curriculum is more in depth and I feel like he's learning things and I'm able to monitor all that. Overall, it's a really good education that fits our schedule.

I wasn't happy with public schools so I decided to enroll my children to Whitmore School. Their rep who works in the office down in Morgantown, when it was Cassville High, was a client of mine. So, I got with her and she broke down what they cover, what they do and the expense. She met me in Morgantown and I gave her the money. She, at some point, took care of everything for me. Both of my kids went there to get them started out, and their rep was helping them get to their graduation process.

Their process was good because they didn't let either of them go on to the next phase unless they had completely mastered what they were working on. The biggest issue that we had was when it came to Algebra. My daughter excelled but my son extremely struggled on it, and there was a very little help. But that's just with that one specific teacher that held that class. It took time for her to get back and answer questions. Had that been a different teacher in another subject, everything was fine.

Their cost here in the Apalachee area in West Virginia is high. And because I'm a realtor, I know the dynamics of the way of living here in the area. But on the other end of the spectrum, they get a diploma and they're fully accredited which is a big thing. So, the cost is not massively over. We get what we pay for. In fact, I have recommended them several times to several people and clients.

My son has some special needs as a student and he was constantly struggling on the schools he was in due to behavioral issues. He has caught up to his grade and will actually graduate in advance when he would have if he had not been held a year back, and so enrolling in an online school made it a good option that he would have the flexibility to do his work one course at a time at different times of the day and that he would be working for outcomes and mastery of a unit. I searched for a school that would help that type of profile. I looked at the ones online, and Whitmore which was originally known as CompuHigh was rated well in the reviews I read. I looked at the website and the sample courses and I had good interaction going in with the counseling staff. It seemed reasonable in terms of fees and that’s how I made my decision to go with Whitmore.

I called them when we enrolled, got basic information and did the preliminary reviews of everything. I submitted the materials, called again, had some good conversations with the advising. And then from that point on, I've pretty much communicated through the website and through the guidance from them. They’ve been prompt in their response, so it was very smooth. There have been two lanes, the instructors and the classes that my son has taken and then also the guidance lane. When I've had a question, I received a prompt and specific response in terms of the courses. The feedbacks to my son and assignments have been very specific and useful. The instructors are very encouraging, seemed very interested in the subject, and engaged. The follow-through has been exceptionally good too. Then there hasn’t been a lot of probing from Whitmore, which I appreciate. It's been one of the best experiences I've had with a school.

Also, the cost has been great and very reasonable. The content of the courses is solid and it's appropriate for the age level. In some ways, the number of writing assignments in all the courses is very rigorous. I've carefully reviewed those assignments and my son had to work to get things right. I feel that he has a good solid high school experience. It's been a decent curriculum and we hope to have him finish in April. Everybody in his age category who went in kindergarten at that age would be finished in June and this was a child that was always behind. So it's been a real blessing for us and great for him. We have had a wonderful experience with the school. I wish them nothing but well going forward. They are far beyond even my most positive expectations.

    Dear Isaac,

Thank you for your nice comments about Whitmore School.

We are so pleased to hear your son is thriving with his courses. Our daughter attended Whitmore School a few years ago and had a similar experience. Once she understood the learning system she excelled and graduated early as well.

Tell your son to keep up his good work!

I didn't want my daughter to be influenced by other kids so I enrolled her in online schooling. It's been about three years that she's been with Whitmore School. I looked at a few other online schools, and for some reason, Whitmore seemed more suited to us. The enrollment process was easy and their personnel was very nice. Usually, when I call, it's the same lady that answers so I don't feel like it's a big corporation where you call and it's always someone different. Her name is Melissa and she's personable. So, I like that and you feel like they're really there for you.

As far as correspondence goes, the teachers can respond a little bit slow. When I want to ask the teacher a question or my daughter might want to, it might take the teachers a couple of days. But my daughter has taken courses such as PE, government history, literature, English, pre-algebra, and biology. Her GPA is about 4.05. She wasn't a bad student by any means but I don't feel like if she would've been in public school, that her grade point average would be so high because she has time to learn what she needs to learn without feeling pressured or she have to get it done in this amount of time. If you're in a classroom and the teachers are trying to explain something, you may not be as willing to say that you don't understand that stuff, whereas she can do that here.

The quality and the price of Whitmore education is good. If it was a private school that she attended, she probably wouldn't get as much attention and it would be a lot more expensive. I also like the way that they structured it and the way it's laid out. If you get something wrong, they make sure that she understands completely, why she got it wrong, before she can even move on to the next lesson. So in a regular school, if you get something incorrect, you just get it incorrect and then you mark it incorrect on your homework and move on. And you didn't learn that particular thing. The overall experience has been easy and stress-free.
