They never delivered my package and the only answer I am getting from them is that they don't know where my package is. It was an iPhone 3GS, bought it from eBay.

I had a parcel package shipped to my address that never arrived. It was shipped from Bell, CA on the 8th of October, then it was tracked through Dallas on the 10th. Then it was tracked at the post office in San Antonio 78217 on the 14th. It is now the 29th and I still haven't received my package. I talked to the supervisor at the post office and he said that because I didn't have insurance, that there was nothing he could do about it. The item was a 1600 watt power amplifier that cost me over $125.

USPS are a bunch of frauds. I ordered 3 Halloween costumes for my children to have for a party at school and obviously Halloween. I paid extra shipping and handling to get my package in 2 days. It's now been 2 weeks. I've called USPS with my tracking info and was told my package cannot be located. I was also told a delivery attempt was made at 3:00 pm yesterday and a slip was left because no one was here. Total bull. I run a daycare, and I am always outside waiting for the school bus to drop off the children at 2:50 till 3:30. There was no USPS driver anywhere near my home, and no slip was left. When I call USPS customer service, they tell me that there's nothing they can do except schedule a redelivery. I have scheduled 3 re-deliveries since last week, and once again, no delivery. These workers are lazy and rude. My neighbor works for USPS and tells me that while they are supposed to be delivering mail, they are really parked on a corner taking breaks, going home to sleep and shopping for hours at a time. I should have taken her advice and not used USPS. But some online store don't give you much of a choice.

Again, I am missing a very important piece of mail. I sent off for my Cosmetologist license on Sept. 29th, and it has never come. I called State Board in Jefferson City today and they told me it was mailed out on October 7. It never takes 21 days to receive it. Usually, it is received within a week. I contacted Mark ** who was supposed to help me with these matters and he assured me they would forward when it comes. It should've been here by now. This will keep me from working. I was to start a job in a week and now I have no license to start work with. I will have to write Jefferson City to re-apply for this license.
These problems with my postman, John, have cost me too much already. I cannot get anything but the runaround from the post office. I will need to gather my neighbors to fight this. This post office will not do anything to remedy this problem. They now have the postman putting rubber bands around my mail. This may or may not help with future delivery. He is not going to realize the house numbers because this mail is banded. I am fed up with USPS, for not doing anything about this postman. He can do as he pleases and with no consequences. I will need to make further contacts and contact the media for help. Clearly, I cannot get help with USPS.
I guess they think I'm making this up. I told Mark ** that my neighbors would like to talk to him about their problems with this mailman. To date, I don't believe he has contacted them. I only want to get my mail, for Pete's sake! This is impossible with this mail man. He cannot do this job, he's been trying for years, and he cannot differentiate between house numbers or street numbers.

I haven't been receiving mail in two to three weeks. Yesterday, I met up with the delivery person, and she said because I didn't get my mail in a week's time, she had to take it to the post office, but she assumed I moved, so placed a note concerning my address saying that I moved/changed address, and for all of my mail to start being returned to the senders. I was told by Robbie who works in the Delivery Department of this Post Office that my mail was stopped on October 2nd, but that was a lie because I have tracking numbers and evidence that mail was still coming to me and that I was still checking my mail afterwards. Not only that, but I have a tracking email confirmation from the US Postal Services about a package that I was supposed to receive and when I was looking for it, it is on the email that it was shipped on October 13, 2009 arrived at the Unit on October 15, 2009, but I still never saw this in my mailbox.
Then I got another email saying that on October 21, 2009 the package was sent back because Addressee was unknown. I have been looking for Military records and transcripts to come through, and I haven't seen any of my mail, as well as gifts from family members because I just graduated with my Master's degree. But I have seen none of this mail because the delivery person said she took it upon herself to make these changes and all of my mail has been sent back. I haven't been able to receive my degree yet because it was going to be mailed to me after it was conferred. I haven't seen any of my bills for the month of October. Her last words to me came in question form "Are you going to start checking your mail? if so, I can start bringing your mail back. You need to check your mail more regularly!"
I have been at my apartment complex for a year and this has never happened. We just got new mailboxes, which are bigger than the ones we had before they changed them, and I never had this problem. If she delivers the mail between 12-2:30 pm and I get off at 5:00 or 5:30 pm on some days, what is that to say that I don't check my mail. I have been checking it, but if they made these changes, and I was not aware, there was nothing given to them by my landlord, no change of address or moving slip signed by me. I don't think that it was right or legal for them to just assume and make changes to something that belongs to me without me saying that, so I believe that it is a federal offense.

I received a Parcel Search Request form dated 8/19/09, contents found at Denver Bulk Mail Center, to be filled out and mailed to the Atlanta Mail Recovery Unit. I filled out the form. They stated the articles fell out from the package, and mailed the form with the full description of the contents and didn't receive any response. On 9/17/09, I mailed the copy of the form with a 2nd request to search for the articles. To date, 10/27/09, I have not had a response. On the search form, the bottom is to be completed by the post office as to whether the articles were found and sent on to the addressee, articles are returned to me, or articles not found.
To date I have not received any response. The contents of the package consisted of a Talbots navy blue silk blend shell and matching sweater. They were in a Talbots plastic bag and packed in a mailing envelope which I secured each seam with scotch tape. If indeed the sweater set "fell" out of the envelope, the Talbots bag would be very visible. It doesn't seem to me that anyone pays attention to this form "Parcel Search Request" which they mail to the sender. And from what I read regarding "Atlanta Mail Recovery Unit", I shouldn't hold my breath for any answer. Unlisted phone, no help - get rid of the whole department and save the money.

With the holiday season approaching us, I feel compelled to share my recent experience with anyone considering mailing packages or gifts of any value through the USPS. My soon to be son-in-law mailed a very valuable item by priority mail from our local post office located in Hobe Sound, FL. Unfortunately, he did not purchase insurance or opt for registered mail being young and thinking that USPS was safe and responsible. Being that it was priority mail, he did receive a tracking number. He checked this number via the internet the very next day. It was stamped in Orlando, FL on this date. He then checked the next day and so on for the next 37 days. It was never stamped again. The package, medium sized priority mail box, is nowhere to be found. After numerous phone calls and needless to say many hours on hold, faxing several items here and there, everyday diligently for 37 days, we are basically told, “Tough luck, we can’t help you.” We gave them our property, entrusting them to do their job and deliver it and they have failed miserably with no remorse and zero concern.
They do not have set routes to track items, no cameras in their mail rooms, and they are not even willing to question employees or open an investigation to find out how this package disappeared into thin air. We have exhausted ourselves and all of our few resources they have passed down to us. Forget about the recovery center in Atlanta, I may as well have been talking to my dog. They were of no help or concern. Their only job and concern is auctioning off other people’s property and profiting from it. This is where my long and tiresome search ended. They claim not to have received my 2 separate faxes (confirmed sent) that I had hoped might have saved us from the first auction. I understand an auction is held in Atlanta every 30 days or less, so our hope of recovery has greatly diminished.
We hope others will benefit from our misfortune. The postal service may be cheaper, only if you do not purchase insurance or registered mail. It is not safe. After doing our homework, we will only be using UPS for our mailing services from now on. All of their packages are insured and tracked to their final destination. What’s priority? Priority means nothing. I am very sad for this kid’s loss and hard lesson was learned in trusting our government. I am greatly disappointed in the USPS for their unwillingness to help and lack of concern in this matter. What kind of explanation am I left to draw? Where did this package go? What do you think? I gave them a package to deliver and they failed poorly at their only job/responsibly. So go with the group that specializes in packages, UPS all the way. It ends up being cheaper and you’re always guaranteed delivery or compensation for your loss. No questions is equal to no brainer.

I am a graduate student and moved from Ohio to Utah. I mailed my books via media mail in 2 boxes. One of the boxes arrived, but the other did not. I mailed in 1st week of June 2009 and have been waiting since. I checked with the Salt Lake City, Utah post office and was told just to wait and see. The box that did not arrive had some very important books for my research, which are also very expensive. I had saved a lot of my money to buy them, some of them are books that I had bought from India and that are not available here. I did not add tracking/insurance to the books, as I trusted that USPS would deliver books all right. I guess there have been instances where even tracked items were lost. I cannot afford to raise a case against USPS, so I can’t do much about it. But I would like to warn anyone else in the future to insure, or rather, avoid USPS altogether.

Nearly all of the complaints here, or at least many, indicate viewing tracking information that ends with packages seemingly sitting at the appropriate post office and after days have gone by. No other activity appears forthcoming. I can also guarantee that when you call, visit, e-mail, or write your post office to complain and ask their assistance, you will feel as though they think you're lying or a fool to be dismissed and advised, "All mail/packages we have received have been delivered,” which is most likely true - believe it or not. But you know you haven't received it and feel you've been violated, which, by the way, you have. Before you continue on, I'd advise that you are more often than not missing a key point: “All mail/packages we have received have been delivered.” Remember this also means, “All mail/packages we have not received cannot be delivered,” except that the tracking says your mail has been given to the post office and that's where almost all of us stop considering.
After three packages of my own were lost/stolen (because, let's get real, most of these are not simply “lost”; two very expensive ones within the course of three weeks), my husband and I did some very serious cross-referencing after communication with sellers (stores), their post office masters and our own. We started getting conflicting statements that we believe all to be true. Our search began when our post master looked at what appeared to be USPS tracking since it was in fact coming from USPS tracking online (so how could it not be from USPS?!). He came back shaking his head in a huff to advise that the information was not coming from USPS post officials, but rather from private contractors contracted/hired by USPS (incidentally, this includes most often to be FedEx) to move USPS mail more efficiently. While FedEx is directly involved though, there are others not so clearly identified they are CDS (Contract Delivery Service).
It appears in our searching and digging that many times tracking information that states a package/mail has been delivered to the post office is actually coming from contracted carriers and not USPS, even when the sender has given the mail/package directly to the original USPS post office. But sometimes the sender has elected to involve a contractor first, such as FedEx SmartPost, who then is to deliver that mail/package to the local post office at the receiver's end. So, who is responsible for that lost mail/package? Well, if USPS doesn't receive the mail/package from the contracted shipper, they can't deliver it to the receiver - meaning us - so they can easily say without guilt that, “Oh, well, stuff gets lost,” or, “You must have gotten it and don't remember,” or, “Someone must have stolen it from your mailbox.” I bet you can add to that list.
In truth, your mail/package has most likely been stolen alright - but before it ever reached your post office. It's a federal offense too, but how do you prove it? Who is liable in the end? Okay, well, this is my opinion and some may take issue with it, but I do know that if a company hires subcontractors and a subcontractor does something wrong, the main company is liable. It does seem that USPS has permitted too many hands in the kitchen, though, and they don't even know who some of those hands are. I do know I don't trust FedEx and now I have to consider USPS at risk. Perhaps we need to return to the Pony Express? Or, hey, we could just locate that island Tom Hanks was cast onto for several years - maybe we'd find all our missing packages there?

In brief overview, the issue I am writing about has been ongoing for over four months now. It involves the USPS non-delivery of a package, which made it all the way to my local post office. It was there on the day that I personally picked up other mail, asked about it, and was told that it wasn't there yet. And then, it was subsequently marked unclaimed and return to sender. According to USPS' own admission and their tracking record, the package then was returned a second time to my local post office and again it was not delivered, nor was I notified to pick it up (I live less than 1 mile from the post office so I don't think there would be any problem with my getting there) and it was again returned to sender.
The package has never reached the sender, and the USPS tells me they have no way of tracking where it is! I have been in contact with the sender (who understandably doesn't feel he needs to be involved since his shipment originally reached it proper destination). However, he also has contacted his shipper and they show they have never received that package back.
I have spent a ridiculous amount of time and endured much aggravation trying to resolve this matter through various channels of the USPS. I talked with my local postal people 3 or 4 times (Batavia, NY), two emails to Shirley at support@USPS (uspshelpdesk@spemail.esecurecare.net), then three times I contacted the USPS Inspector General (hotline@uspsoig.gov), one phone call to USPS Headquarters in Washington, DC which did nothing more than get me a call from a worker at my local post office (Loretta in Batavia) who was clueless of the entire situation; two emails with Lisa **, a Consumer Research Analyst of the Consumer Advocate that accomplished nothing! I have gotten absolutely nothing time and again but pass the buck and excuses about how this could happen, and "we are truly disappointed that we did not provide you with good service." But no remedy for my loss! In fact, the last attempt I made was a reply to a response email from Lisa, in which I specifically addressed getting a remedy for my situation. And I got no response.
Since the above action, I have filed a complaint with my NY Senator Gillibrand and after waiting another three months, her reply was just a repeat of the same pass the buck, empty apologies, "we're not responsible," "no one's accountable" ** that has been the case for the entire time (7 months) I have been pursuing a remedy.

I can't believe the government made my car get repossessed! The USPS has lost my workman's comp check two out of three weeks. What great service. I live week to week, and when my check gets lost, my checking account bounces! Two weeks ago, it cost me $50.00; this week, it will be $75.00. The United States Post Office gets me further in the hole when they lost my mail and have forced me to not pay my car payment! Once I'm behind on a bill, I can't get caught up, as I live week to week. What great employees at the USPS! It does not take 8 days for a piece of mail to make it two hours away. Thanks again to the government employees for their outstanding service! The bank is ok with taking the car and losing money; they can just make a phone call and get bailed out again.
10-22, still no check. $50.00 in overdraft fees yesterday, and there will be another $25.00 today. And if the USPS loses my check that was sent today, I will have another $25.00, maybe more because I have to pay the overdraft fees from this week. Maybe, I just won't eat for the week. I'm sure they will lose it. Look at their track record. Also today, I spent my last $12.00 on food, seeing how I didn't eat for a day and a half. Maybe I should walk away from my employer and work comp and get state aid. That way, I know I will have money on a bridge card every month and I can sell the food stamp money for cash. I can't help but wonder that maybe a USPS employee stole the check.

I went to Auburn PO on 10-15-09 and was told by the clerk that it was not showing up on computer and they did not know what happened to return receipt or if mail was delivered. This company would love to have an excuse to cancel my cancer insurance. (They have paid out several times.) That is why I send payments certified with return receipt. If they are not going to return (green card), I can just save that $2.30 and pay bank for a copy of cleared check if indeed it does not get lost in mail, thereby canceling my insurance coverage.

This posting will consist of a few complaints. First, our mail is routinely delivered to the wrong address. On more than one occasion my neighbor has opened my bank statements (she has the same bank I do) thinking they were hers. She now has a chunk of my private financial information. If my mail is delivered to somebody shady, my identity could easily be stolen.
We do not get our mail if it is raining, snowing, or if it is overcast outside. When a complaint was filed with local post office, they said mail volume is down. Okay, I still don't think I would go 8 days without mail. On day 9, I got 7 bundles of mail (each with a separate rubber band around them). This would seem to indicate that it was 7 days' worth of mail delivered in one day. This is unacceptable. Withholding mail is a federal offense. The only problem is, it is impossible to prove.
I went out of town at the beginning of the year and put a hold mail notice. On this notice, I selected deliver my held mail on a specific date. Three days after this date, I still had not received any mail. I had to go to the post office where they told me I had selected to have it held until I picked it up. When I showed them the confirmation I had printed (showing that I had selected to have it delivered), they simply shrugged and walked away from me. This was after waiting in line for the customary hour at the local post office.
I recently went out of town again and filed the necessary hold mail form. This time, however, I chose to pick up the mail. The day I was leaving (noted as the first day to hold the mail), the postal carrier delivered mail as I was leaving the driveway. When I spoke to him, he had no idea the mail was to be held. When I returned home, I went to the post office to pick up my mail, waiting in line 45 minutes. When I finally got to the counter, the supervisor of our route told me I selected to have the mail delivered. I then showed her my confirmation that indicated I had chosen to pick up my mail. It was at this point that she developed the world's biggest attitude. I will admit, after this point, I was no longer cordial. I do not look incompetence in the face, have it cop an attitude with me, and let it roll off my back.
These postal workers are illiterate and incompetent. I guess when there are laws preventing any legal action against the post office, it just breeds incompetence from the top to the bottom. I can only imagine that an incompetent supervisor will have incompetent staff working for her. At some point, we need to privatize the post office and take it out of government hands. Maybe then, the taxpayers (we do pay their salaries) will have an actual course of action when these people screw up repeatedly. The worst part of the whole thing, the post office has admitted they were incompetent and messed up, but they will not apologize for the mistakes nor the way we were treated.

The post master has a very bad attitude and was of no help at all. It seems that nothing will be done by this postal office to fix the problems I (and my neighbors) have had with his mail service. I ordered an item online and had it sent Priority Mail to my home. The item never showed up. On Friday, October 16th, I used the Delivery Confirmation Number provided in my order confirmation email from the company to track the item on the USPS web site. The website showed that the Post Office attempted to deliver the item on October 14th at 2:46 PM and a notice was left.
I work in a studio that is three steps from my mail box. I have a window and I see the letter carrier everyday. He did not leave a notice of attempted deliver on Oct. 14th, and since the package did not require a signature, he should have just left it in my mail box. The item was shipping in a Small Flat Rate Priority Mail Box. I followed the instructions on the USPS website and obtained a telephone number to arrange to pick up my package.
When I called, the postal worker took my name and the deliver confirmation number and went to find my package. She came back a few minutes later and said they did not have the package. I asked where it was and she said she did not know, but that they would look for it and call me back. About 20 minutes later I got a call from a Supervisor named Jason at the West Side Manchester Substation in Goffstown, NH. He informed me that the letter carrier that day was a substitute for my regular carrier, but that he was a VERY good employee. He then proceeded to tell me that the letter carrier had indeed delivered my package and simply scanned it incorrectly and that he was going to go in and change the scan to reflect that the item had been delivered.
I never received the package, and due to the dishonesty of both Supervisor Jason and the letter carrier, I am out the cost of the item, and have no recourse with the company that sent it since the post office website now shows it was delivered. I did take a screen shot of the original post office website notice showing that the item was not delivered, but Jason, the Supervisor, told me that they delivered the package and there was nothing I could do about it. He was rude, uncaring, and simply impossible to deal with.

I further asked if a Delivery Attempt Notice (PS Form 3849) had been left on her door or perhaps inside her mailbox - she replied “no”. I went online and tracked and confirmed Label number **.
A request for re-delivery was submitted with confirmation number ** but no delivery was made. I additionally called and spoke directly with the Bronx postal supervisor ** and he suggested I gave the mailman more time on September 28, ‘09 at approximately 11:25 hrs. A second redelivery was requested telephonically and the representative who answered the phone assigned the same confirmation number **; however, no redelivery was attempted.
My mother is 73 years old and got ill and flew from Florida to New York to stay with her from October 2 through 12 and no redelivery was made of the parcel in question. Upon my arrival back to work on October 13, ‘09, (Tuesday), I checked on line and no further status available. I contacted the 1-800-275-8777 and was informed by young representative that the package was on its way back to me. I then contacted the local Bronx Postal Service Supervisor Mr. ** at 718-588-2195 and provided him with the label number and he couldn’t understand why I was informed that the package was being returned to me when he couldn’t see that status. He was going to track down the package and get back with me. I provided him my telephone number at work. I’m sure it was stuck somewhere in a holding area in his post office. However, I didn’t hear from him. Today (October 15, '09), at 0948 hours I spoke with supervisor Mr. ** and my work phone number and message for Mr. ** in reference to him getting back with me.
Bottom line: No attempt was ever made for delivery nor was there a delivery attempt notice (PS Form 3849) left. Secondly, no redelivery attempts have been made and now parcel apparently is lost. Lastly, why hasn’t the tracking status been updated? Note: previous Consumer Affairs complaints for similar problems have been handled by Ms. **. The desired solution is to deliver parcel tracking label ** to my mother Ms. Ademi **. Please Knock and wait, elderly woman.
My mother has not received the medicines I sent her and the parcel has been misplaced within the Bronx Postal Office. I was provided with erroneous information when I attempted to follow-up on the tracking status of parcel label number ** based on assumption on October 13, ‘09. I was informed that the package was on its way back! Not true! This information could not be verified online and even the Bronx Postal Supervisor stated that he couldn’t understand how they came up with this conclusion. Please have Mr. ** follow up on the whereabouts of this parcel, thanks!

I live in Eminence, MO. Today is the 15th and the package hasn't arrived yet. What is up with the bad service? Why is it taking so long to move a simple first class package? It's my meds from the VA. I bought a truck part from a guy on eBay for $200. If anyone is familiar with steering gears off of trucks, then you know what I’m talking about when I say they are very heavy. The idiot I bought it from put it in a cardboard box with a board in the bottom, which makes sense, so the steering gear wouldn't fall out of the bottom of the box. What he didn't do was fix the sides of the box. Now here's where the US Postal Service comes in. The package was shipped from Ohio to Alabama. It only made two other stops along the way.
Sometime during shipping, the steering gear busted out the side of the box. The way the box looks, it’s as if they picked it up from one bottom corner and one top corner. Now when this thing fell out, someone had to know because it would have hit the ground hard and if it landed on their foot, they dang sure would have known. Well someone did know because they took the time to tape the box back up and continued to ship it without the parts in it. So, somewhere between Ohio and Alabama, there's a steering gear with my name on it. I doubt if I will ever get the parts back. The guy didn't get the insurance and the USPS says I'm SOL. So my advice to anyone is to never use the USPS and if you buy something from someone that plans to use them, ask them or beg them to get the insurance even if you have to pay for it.

On September 30, 2009, I sent a package by priority mail, flat rate medium box from the Colonial Heights, VA 23834 post office. I did not insure the box or put tracking on the box as I was in a hurry. I paid for the postage by transaction #** at 7:57AM. The box was sent to Lindsey **. The return address was on the box - Linda. When she had not received the box on Saturday, 10/3/09, I called the Colonial Heights post office and the person told me that there could be a delay because they were moving the Richmond, VA USPS distribution office around and it could cause a delay. They told me that it could take as much as 30 days to get the box and they would not start looking for 30 days.
I searched the internet and found an 800 number for USPS lost packages 1(800) 222-1811. They gave me a case #** and said that since it did not have a tracking number, there is not a lot they could do but someone would call me in 48 hours. When no one called by Friday, 10/9/09, I called again and they told me to call the Norfolk post office that services zip code 23508. The gave me an excuse that the person delivering to the Old Dominion University campus was new and to give it a few days and it would show up. It is not 10/14/09 and the package is still missing. I am reading a lot of comments on the internet that it will probably never be found as inspectors have probably stolen the merchandise and the rest that they did not want would be auctioned off in Atlanta.
This really disturbs me that I put a priority mail package in the mail and no one is willing to find it. It is the obligation of the USPS to get a package to its destination and our USPS is failing, and they are continuing to cry for more money. I will never send another package because the attitude of the people that I talked to was not acceptable (the people that answered the 800 number, the gentleman in the Colonial Heights, VA post office and the lady in the Norfolk, VA post office). Any help from Consumer Affairs would be helpful.

However, after the 3-day period passed, at which time the package should have arrived, I called the 800 number to follow up. I was told that I couldn't open a case until after 5 business days. After the 5 business days, I called back and opened a case. I was told I would be contacted in 48 hours with an update in reference to my package. I was not called. I called back and was told that the system used to view case updates were down and that I should call back.
I called back again today and was told that I would be contacted on the 14th (tomorrow) with the final update. The rep was able to tell from the activity on my case that the package was not recovered and that someone from consumer affairs would be contacting me. I am very disappointed but now know that if I am sending anything of value, I should purchase the insurance. I would also add that if the item can't be replaced, I would not even use the post office if I bought insurance. The post office needs to be audited and held responsible for losing people's packages. I don't even think they refund the price you pay for shipping the package.

A box of toys and clothes from family overseas didn't arrive for months. Then one day, I got a clear plastic packet with only the address label torn off, with a lame "we care" message stating that they "sincerely regret the damage to your mail during handling by the Postal Service." Damage? It is pure theft! There were boxes of Lego and children's toys. And some unscrupulous postal worker clearly decided to take it all. If the package had been damaged, at least some if not all of the contents would have been recovered and delivered, not just a torn off area where the address is. Due to the non-delivery of a credit card bill, my credit has been affected and I must now make a payment to the credit card in excess of $500. The post man told me I could put the mailbox in, but that in 7 months everyone in the neighborhood was going to be asked to convert to curbside mailboxes (expensive conversion to say the least!), so he said I should just convert now. I replied that we would convert when everyone else does.
Now I am being told by the post man and his supervisor Pier ** that they won't deliver our mail unless we convert to curbside, which would make me the only resident in my street and neighborhood with one. I feel singled out and discriminated. The mailman walks by my door every day and doesn't deliver my mail, yet he delivers to other houses with the same mailbox system as mine.
I have not received any formal letter from any governmental institution about this 'mandated' conversion, nor have any of the residents in my subdivision. I don't see how they can refuse to deliver my mail to a perfectly good (and brand new) mail box next to my front door. I need help as my wife and I need to receive our mail periodically (like any other American citizen). We are being forced to go pick it up at the USPS office, which is a huge inconvenience and a lack of respect for people's time. Again, I feel highly discriminated and singled out.

On September 14th, 2009, I mailed two large packages from the U.S. post office in Talkeetna, Alaska to my home in Crown Point, Indiana. One package was a piece of luggage filled with personal items that I insured for $200, and the other package was a 32-inch LCD flat-screen Sony TV that I insured for $500. I used the TV's original box to ship since it was a perfect fit, and simply wrote the mailing address on the side of the box. The woman at the post office said that writing it there was fine. I paid for everything and they gave me my receipt, my tracking number, and a receipt for the insurance, which I put into my wallet.
On September 17, my wallet was stolen from my room so I no longer had any of my receipts of information regarding the packages. On September 19th, I flew out of Alaska and stayed in Oregon for a week. I arrived in Indiana at home on September 26th and my piece of luggage that I shipped was waiting for me in my room, but the TV had not arrived yet. I shipped both items by priority, so the post office told me that it would arrive within 14 business days.
Today is October 5th, which will have made it 21 business days since I shipped the package, and I still have not received the TV. Now I know that it has only been one week over the estimated delivery time and I may be speaking too soon, but I also find it odd that one package arrived within the 2-week period of estimated delivery time and the other package is missing in action.
I have called my local post office and the post office in Talkeetna, Alaska and they both have told me that since I do not have any receipts or the tracking number, they cannot help me in any way whatsoever. So basically, what they are telling me is that it is 2009 and they do not store anybody's information into a computer system for instances such as this? What do they use "post-its?"
When somebody asks me for the time, I do not look up at the sun and make a guess. I look at my watch or my phone and tell them the exact time. It's like buying a new computer and installing Windows 95. We're not in the industrial revolution. Businesses need to update their equipment to keep their customers happy and at ease. I find it extremely irresponsible and unprofessional for a national business to not keep vital customer information in case something goes awry.
I have also been reading a lot of other complaints from many other people who are in a similar, if not the same, situation as I. It has also come to my attention that there is a place in Atlanta, Georgia called the Atlanta Recovery Center where, somehow, people get a hold of "lost" and "recovered" merchandise (most likely things in their original, purchased packages such as my TV) and auction them off monthly. Monthly?! How many packages does the USPS lose every month? Apparently, enough to hold convenient monthly auctions.
The box that my TV was in looks brand new, and it also has a giant picture of the TV on one side of the box (this is the only thing that I blame myself for). I am sure that the box looked very enticing, but so do a lot of packages that are sent through the mail. Needless to say, I am never shipping anything through USPS ever again due to their lack of interest in customer needs and satisfaction, and the fact that nobody who I have spoken with has offered any sort of help whatsoever. It is as if the company is being run by Alzheimer's victims.
I feel like Dog the Bounty Hunter can help me more than this capricious business called USPS. If anybody has any information at all that can help me recover my TV, please let me know. Thank you.

For a little over four months now, my wife and I are not receiving the bulk of our mail at our residence. We moved into the newly constructed home in June '08. For approximately one year we had no problems receiving all of our mail at our residence. At some point during May/June of '09 however, we started noticing our quantity of mail diminishing. The pieces of mail that we were receiving were addressed to either my name or my wife's name, but the street address was wrong.
For four months now, somehow our address is showing as ** in the USPS' records/database. So whenever we get a bill or magazine (if we even get it), it arrives with the wrong street address on it. Again, this started happening in May or June of this year. I have talked to at least five different USPS employees at our local post office several times including the Postmaster and one of his Supervisors. Each time I get the exact same answer: That they will look into it and fix the issue. Well guess what, our address is still wrong in their system. I have checked our county's records for our property and nowhere is ** listed with our residence. We have always lived at ** as it is our first house. That is the address we initially had no problems getting our mail at when we first moved into our home.
Our neighbors are having zero issues getting all of their mail. I have tried pleading with our local post office to fix this problem and they have not. We feel like we are getting the runaround. We have every right to be entitled to receive our mail at our home and should not be forced into renting a post office box as suggested by a postal employee during one of my trips to try to get this problem resolved. That is not acceptable. We don't know what else to do. Please help!
Unknown amounts of mail (most likely massive) including magazine subscriptions that have not been received that probably were either delivered to the actual residents of ** here in Farmville (not us) or returned to sender. I also pulled my credit reports, and sure enough, I was listed as living at **, which is not my address nor have we ever lived there. This has taken a physical and mental toll as well. My wife and I are constantly stressed because we do not know where the bulk of our mail is going or who is getting it. It did not come so I went to the USPS that it arrived at on the 18th of September. When I got there, I gave them my tracking number. They tracked it and said that it did arrive on the 14th. She told me that the carrier that delivers around my neighborhood would be back at 5:30 and that they would ask him and would call me later on that day or the next day.
I waited and they never called. My husband called the next day and they said the same thing again, that they couldn't find it and would ask the carrier and then call back! They never called back. Ever since, my husband and I have been calling to check up. I emailed the person I bought the cellphone from eBay and she had said that she delivered it and the US Postal Office would get it. She told me exactly where she sent it to and my address was correct. On the 22nd of September, I decided to go to USPS and talk to them. Then they said they had to ask the carrier that sends mail to my house but he went on vacation, so I had to wait till the 28th when he got back and that I should come in at 7 in the morning before all the mailmen leave.
I did not understand why they had to wait for him. It's not like he brings his mail truck on vacation too! I was frustrated but waited till the 28th. On the 28th of September, my husband went to the postal office at 7 am. They told him that our mailman doesn't come in till 10! So he went back at 10 and he said they looked for 15 min. and came back to tell him that they could not find it and that they would ask the other carriers about it or ask the person I bought it from for a refund! How am I supposed to get a refund when I didn't even get my package? Is it her fault? She didn't lose my package!
I am becoming very angry with the service I get at USPS. I just have a feeling that they will keep telling me the same thing until I give up or something. I think they know they are responsible and are trying to wait till I stop. I won't stop. I am going to keep going back until they actually do something about it. It's the United States Postal Service. They shouldn't be this irresponsible. It has been almost a month now. I will go back and make sure they do something about it. I read some of the stories on here and most of them say that their package did not have insurance on it. Mine didn't have one either. Most stuff on eBay don't give insurance on it. I don't think having insurance has anything to do with it. The eBay seller, I think, is not at fault because they did ship it out and the postal office even said that it arrived. It's just that "they can't find it." I am so angry and I don't know what to do!

I have just recently found that a ticket and money order my husband sent in mail in August 2009 has not reached its destination. It's basically lost in the mail. What is the problem here. This is the third time in two years that I have had to stop payments on checks, or in this case, have to find out how to try and get our money reimbursed because the USPS has yet again lost our mail. This is expensive and time-consuming for my self, let alone the fact that it makes our bills late.
Had the Department of Transportation not sent us another statement saying they wanted their money, my husband could have lost his driver's license. His license is part of our livelihood. He's a truck driver. I am just honestly very disturbed that I am here again, because others who make I am sure more money than my husband or myself have to come up with more money to rectify a problem that should not be a problem. What happened to the days when people took pleasure in a job well done?

It appears that the postal service lost the mail because the insurance company has never received the money. What the hell is going on? I cannot complain because this cannot be tracked. I checked with the bank where the first check was made, and they informed me that the money has not been cashed?

After being told by your office that mail delivery would resume, it hasn’t. The postal carrier has a personal issue with either me or my neighbor and doesn’t want to do his job. He claims my neighbor’s dog is lose all the time (false). He says it’s unsafe for him to deliver mail (false). Anytime, this person is on vacation or has a day off I get a week’s worth of mail. So far I’ve had 2 pay checks turn up missing, never returned to sender, so? Consumer Affairs has been working with me for over a year on this matter and still no regular mail service? If I can’t trust the Consumer Affairs Department to help me, who can help me?
From the Southern California Office of Consumer Affairs, ** has helped a lot. But I got sent to ** who said all was fixed, and still no mail service. Now, she's telling me it’s the postal carriers’ option that if he sees a dog he feels threatened by, he doesn’t have to deliver the mail. I understand the concept, but if the dog is on a leash being held by the owner and all this is around the corner from my house, how does this affect my mail delivery? Well in my issue, it does not get delivered.
So now, the postal office does not answer their phone. The post master general doesn’t have a number, got to send mail and Consumer Affairs Department seems to be dropping the ball. I guess my last option is to find a lawyer that will take on both. Between bills becoming due without my knowledge, jury summons being skipped and paychecks just plain missing; my life is in major turmoil because of this.

We mailed a package from Cambridge, MA to Hartley, Delaware on April 30, 2009 while in Boston. We insured the package, mailed it Priority Mail and were told it would be received in 5 days. Upon arriving back home, we found that our bags were opened at Logan Airport and several items including the receipt were missing. Then we learned that the package never arrived at the destination. I immediately called the Kendall Square Post Office to determine what could be done. I was told and I quote, "You don't have a receipt so there's nothing I can do. I have a customer." She then hung up on me.
I then called the Hartley, DE post office. While the lady there wasn't as rude, she told me there was nothing I could do but keep calling. The return address was listed as our hotel address so I figured that if nothing else, it would be sent to them. It wasn't, although they called us to let us know that a package did arrive for us. They actually mailed it to us and we're excited because they thought it was the missing package (good job, Residence Inn!). I continued to call the Hartley post office for 2 months. Finally they tired of me and told me to stop calling.
I called the Kendall Square post office and the gentleman who waited on me said that he remembered me and that he was sorry that I didn't have a receipt and that nothing could be done. Finally, in September, I went to my local post office and they immediately suggested that I check with the lost packages section and file a complaint. But they said that it was too late and they were flabbergasted that no one at the Hartley or Kendall Square post offices had instructed us to do so. She still asked me to call the main USPS number which I did. I was told that since the package never reached either address, it would have been sent to the lost mail center and then searched for any addresses.
I replied that was good since there were two anniversary cards right on top that contained both return addresses and the address to the hotel we were staying at. In addition, my husband's international driver's license was inside. It had our home address on it. Yet, with all of these addresses the package never arrived. She stated that by August 1 our belongings would have been put up for auction and sold. All profits are kept by the USPS. What a scam! Are they hurting for money so badly that they steal packages to sell? Either way, I still filed a complaint, but without a receipt it will go nowhere.

These are the instances I know about since I actually expected the letters.

We live in a small town, and know everyone at our tiny PO. This package has not made it to our town. My husband lost his job. I had ordered several books, as is my habit, and I check every day to see if a book had arrived, as they do not fit into my postal slot. I was notified via track and confirmation on the 10th of this month that one of my books had been delivered on the 8th. I knew immediately that this was not the case. When I walked to the post office, 50 feet from my home, I was informed my regular postal delivery man was off that day and his substitute claimed to have left the book between my screen door and regular door. I explained that I checked it immediately and do so every day and that no book was delivered. The man, who said he was the manager, told me I was being disruptive and the people in line did not need to hear me complain. I later discovered that another item I had ordered was supposedly delivered that very day.
I was thrown out of the post office and called a lying piece of **, amongst other aspersions. Mysteriously, the book the woman had sworn was put between my doors was delivered 4 days later early in the morning, and the other item arrived 2 days ago again early in the morning. I am thankful to have received my items; however, the woman blatantly lied, and the incident was attempted to be white-washed.
This very same carrier had continually left my mail on the seat of my golf cart, and many times, it was blown about. When I requested the carrier use my mail slot, she ignored my request. I assume that lying to the police in this case as well is business as usual at our post office. When carriers lose or misplace mail, lie about it, and are caught in this lie, some consequences surely should follow. I would never want someone to lose their job, but some sort of acknowledgement of the deceit is the least a person should be granted.

I recently had a package stolen and I believe it may have been an inside USPS job and here's why.
I ordered a designer wallet online and had waited for it for over a month. I finally received a notice from the Apple Valley, MN post office stating that they were at my home on Thursday, 9/10, and had not delivered my package because they needed a signature (I work the standard hours, so understandably I was not home to sign). The following Monday, I went to the post office to pick up my package - for which I was told it had been signed for the prior Friday, 9/11. When I found this out, I was shocked! The local office pulled the copy of the signature and I knew right away it was signed by no one I knew. I spoke to Manager Vicki and told her it was impossible that it could be signed because no one was home on Friday at 11:45 am when the package was supposedly signed. The copy contained a printed name with my first initial, last name, a signature that appeared the same, and my address (remember this for later).
Right away, I asked her what would happen if it was not a neighbor or family member's signature. Vicki said that once it is signed, it is out of her control (huh, aren't you here to perform a service?). When I persisted, she said she would have to research to see who the carrier was and ask them if they remembered (I knew at that time this would be a dead end). She said I should call the 1-800 number and file a complaint (in other words, don't bug me). When I asked what the procedure was and if they only delivered to the door, Vicki said no, that sometimes they deliver in the "vicinity". I asked for clarification of "vicinity" (garage or random walking person?) and she explained that she trained her people to not drop packages with neighbors. This is either a lie or the carrier is lazy. So, I told Vicki I would go home and ask my neighbors (that do not know my first and last name - townhouse community) and get back to her as needed.
At 6:30 pm that evening, I called the USPS and got Vicki. I was very nice on the telephone, knowing that Vicki could make or break the research. I explained the package was nowhere to be found and family and neighbors deny signing anything. This is relevant because I receive many packages through FedEx and UPS without event. But 5 days later, still no call from Vicki, no package, no designer wallet. Since my neighbors do not know my name I have come to the conclusion (either way) that the carrier did not do their job and should be reprimanded. Possible scenarios:
1) If the carrier lazily handed over the package to random person then asked for a signature, the culprit could have taken my name and address from the package to sign.2) The post office carrier could have opened the package and decided to take it, knowing that the USPS would do absolutely nothing.
3) The carrier signed the package and decided to keep it for themselves, and wrote my address as a signer (since they would be one of the few people that would know my name and address). This is relevant because I have 1-2 FedEx and UPS deliveries a month with no event.
4) Vicki doesn't give a **; it's not her problem because she works for the government.
5) Vicki lets her people steal and she's in on it. Regardless as to whether it's her or her employee, she doesn't give a ** & it's not her problem!
6) I can't prove anything and neither can Vicki.
7) Vicki is relying on the taxpayers to do her and her employees jobs. Thanks Vicki - I will be sure to be gainfully employed just for you!

On May 11, 2009, the item was mailed France-First class mail international with parcel weight 3 lb.11.30 oz. placed in a box. It's not a letter. Postage paid for this service was $29.68 USD. I would not be complaining today, but this is the second and third time mail has disappeared right here in the USA and not delivered to the addressee. At the post office, I was told that there was no way to track this type of mailing. It seems incredible that we cannot do something or at least get our money back for the items missing. The items in this mailing were bath supplies to my daughter who lives in Paris, France. We have no recourse in these matters.
I recently went to Paris, France in July this year, and my daughter and I went to her local post office where the customs offices are located for each arrondisimo. We were told that the package never made it to Paris. On August 21, 2009, I purchased your priority mail service at the Tulsa Main Post Office. The documents being mailed contained highly confidential passport application material, which I believe has been compromised by the post office. My passport application was being expedited by Travisa in San Francisco, CA; they never received the information. I needed my passport expedited to join my husband who was already in Switzerland for an unexpected business trip. The passport application included an official birth certificate, copy of driver’s license, social security number, mother’s maiden name, mother, father, and husband’s date and origin of birth, and two checks from my personal bank. The post office employee knew the contents of the package to be mailed. She also had knowledge to the package’s critical contents.
On Friday, August 21, I immediately mailed the passport application package after completing the verification process at the Tulsa County Court House. I wanted to get the package mailed that day so I opted to mail it from the Tulsa Main Post Office which is very close to the Court House. The passport application was sealed in a Manila envelope by the Court House. On the envelope, the clerk wrote the purpose of the contents but did not write the address of the package’s mailing destination. Since I was inexperienced at mailing international passports and its application process, I assumed that some direction could be given at the post office.
The post office employee, clerk **, had a very unfriendly attitude about assisting with mailing of this package. I showed her the Manila envelope that I just received from the Court House and tried to explain what I was trying to do. She looked at how the envelope was labeled and insisted that I return to the Court House. She interrupted me several times during my explanation and insisted that I needed to go back to the Court House. I had to talk over her so that she would hear that I did indeed have an address to mail the package. She finally handed me a priority mail envelope so that I could mail my passport application to San Francisco, CA. By this time, I was extremely flustered and I knew she really did not want to be assisting me. I ended up purchasing priority mail without a tracking and confirmation number. It was such an unpleasant experience that I just wanted to get out as fast as possible.
I returned the appropriately labeled package to the post office clerk and paid for priority mail. Because of the time sensitive importance of the material, I told the clerk before I left that a prayer needed to go with my item being mailed. She thought that I was implying to the address destination being questionable, however, I didn’t tell her that I was referring to the importance of its timely arrival. In addition to the mailing complication, there was only one post office clerk working the front on a busy Friday afternoon. There was a long line of customers and no clear directions of where to stand to receive service. It was a chaotic situation. Clerk ** announced that everyone decided to take the day off.
On August 28, 2009, I called the Tulsa postmaster, **, to report the missing package. Ms. ** told me that she didn’t know what she could do for me. I was advised by Ms. ** to call Consumer Affairs Office in Oklahoma City. Therefore, I called ** and reported my situation. On August 30th, I called Ms. **’s office back to get an update on my passport application package. I was told that it was probably chewed up in the mailing device and they would look for it at their “damaged mail” location. As of September 13, 2009, Travisa has never received my original passport application. I had to apply a second time for the expedited passport through Travisa’s Washington office.
The post office’s loss of my passport application package has cost me substantial time and money. An expedited passport cannot be obtained without a flight ticket. Therefore, I have re-booked my flight twice that has cost me $600 in fees. I have also attached a fraud alert to the major credit agencies and paid to join an identity theft protection agency. Next, I have to close my account and reopen another account at my bank. I did not use the United States Postal Service for my second passport application submission. I paid approximately $100 in service fees to have FedEx mail my application to and from Travisa’s Washington Office.

If these packages are never delivered, it will be over $300 worth of merchandise I paid for and never received, not to mention all of the cell phone minutes I've wasted trying to track down the packages, or the price of my time. What's most frustrating is the two packages with tracking numbers were sent by FedEx and then surrendered to USPS for delivery. Today is September 8, 2009. I am going out of USA on September 11 and I need that package before that day. If I do not get it, I am going to lose my flight ($542), vacation from work, everything because someone in the post office made a mistake. I have called the post office at least 15 times and they only say that there is nothing they can do, to just wait to see if I get it. The package is in the Lost Item Dept. in Atlanta, GA 30378 since Sept 3. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do.

It resulted in physical and financial damage to myself. I was off my medication for 3 weeks, which affected my fibroids because I had to be on the pills for 4 months straight to get results. It is September 5, 2009, and my box is still not delivered. I was told by the USPS person at my local post office that whomever told me that it would be delivered in 7-10 days was mistaken. My driveway is 200-ft. long, and when I get a package from UPS or FedEx, they come and knock on my door. I ordered some merchandise online that I needed on 8/24/09. The parcel was apparently delivered on 8/29/09 which was a Saturday, and I was not home. Since there was no signature or anything required, the package should have been left at my door. Instead on Monday when I checked my mailbox, there was a "sorry, we missed you" notice. I had to travel to the designated post office to collect the parcel, only to be told that the parcel was not there. I called the sorting center to speak to the mail carrier and was told the package was not at that location either. I returned to the post office the next day to see if the package was there, and it was not. After a week of phone calls and trying to visit the post office, my package was still not located, and no one that I spoke to was remotely helpful. On August 13th, 2009, I sent an item via the post office's "next day before noon guaranteed delivery" Express Mail service. The item was to go from Rockville, Maryland to Brooklyn, New York (11235). The item did not arrive at the destination before noon. I called to find out what had happened, where the item was, and when I could anticipate arrival. I called the number provided on the receipt (800-222-1811). It was then 2pm and the customer service representative confirmed that the package had failed to be delivered on time and that I was entitled to a refund. The customer service representative apologized. The customer service representative added that the package would likely arrive later in the afternoon but if not, an investigation would be implemented within the next 24 hours.
The item was not received until late afternoon on August 14th, 2009. I went to the post office to claim my ($17.50) refund due to their failure to deliver and was told that the computer indicated my item was delivered at 9:14am. This report is inaccurate at best and a deceptive, felonious, violation at worst. Though I did waive the signature requirement when purchasing the delivery service, I did not agree that the package arriving outside of the guaranteed window. I paid for delivery by noon, and did not receive it. Though I have spoken to the postmaster both on the originating and receiving end, a refund has since been denied, based on the 9:14am delivery time someone entered in the computer. The package was not dropped in a mailbox at 9:14am, as the post office claims, instead it was hand delivered to the recipient (my mother) in the 4pm hour.
Considerable economic loss was incurred as a result of this failure and the post office wouldn't provide so much as a refund for their failure to provide the service for which I paid, a "guaranteed delivery" service! I have significant supporting documentation regarding this case and would like to file a formal complaint. Consequences: considerable economic loss; ongoing waste of time and resources; and failure of service to respond, reply, provide quality customer relations.

In January 2000, I inquired about mail delivery for my new house here in Rail Road Flat. Margaret informed me I had two choices: One is to have mail delivery to the address; however, the Mokelumne Hill post office would deliver the mail and the mailing address would be the street address and Mokelumne Hill as the city. And two, have a post office box at Rail Road Flat and the city would be Rail Road Flat. The box would be free and would certify yearly that nothing had changed in regards to the address.
(The few that went to my address with Rail Road Flat were delivered to my box with a note on it to inform the sender of the correct address.) That is until August 2009, when I received in my box a bill for $42 for the PO Box. No prior notification went out regarding a charge for the box. I had just certified that nothing had changed on my box in July. The only thing that changed was a new temporary postmistress. When I opened the box, the postmistress was Margaret and she was followed by Tari, who was replaced by our new postmistress Mary.
On the 13th or 14th of August, I called 1-800-275-8777 and filed a complaint. I expected a call back in a couple of days. On Aug. 18, I received a note in my PO Box regarding the fee signed by Mary **, officer in charge of Rail Road Flat post office. It did not address why I was charged and what had changed my eligibility for a free box. I have until 9/1 to pay. No call back from 1-800-275-8777 so I called again on 8/27. The call was elevated to Consumers Affairs and a new complaint number was given. On 8/25/09, Patricia called from Consumer Affairs. She gave me the # 286-1628 for Mokelumne Hill to request mail delivery. I did not believe that my city would be changed. She put me on hold while she called post office here locally. They told her the same information and she said that they would get back to me.
On 8/26/09, Richard called. He had been in Southern California a couple of days. I gave him my street address and he was looking in the Calaveras street maps. In first looking up my address in Rail Road Flat, he could not find it, so he looked it up in Mokelumne Hill and I made a comment. This prompted him to say something like, "We do not make up addresses at the post office. They are made up at the county." My address is listed as Rail Road Flat. I told him I just had a few days left since the PO Box pay date was 9/1. He told me not to worry about it and someone would get back to me. On 9/2/09, I called again and the person informed me that what the temporary postmistress told me is the correct information, that my address would change to Mokelumne Hill if street address delivery is desired. So, I guess it is true. The addresses are designated by the post office and not by the county contrary to what the gentleman told me on 8/26/09.
On 9/12/09, I called 286-1628 Mokelumne Hill to request delivery person to come by and mark where I should place the mailbox and also discuss what type of mailbox to place there since I live off a mile from the road and cannot see the mailbox from my house. She stated that would be done by end of day and mailbox would be installed 26 inches from the ground to allow delivery. I guess I now live in Mokelumne Hill even though it is 15 miles away and not the town listed on my deed of trust.

I explained that I needed a receipt and she refused. I also had a next day air click and ship package which she complained had tape over the postage and could not be used.
The click and ship is printed on a computer and it has to be taped with clear tape to the box. It is not normal postage stamps. I asked in addition for stamps for my letters and she was so disinterested in helping me, she actually invited another customer up to her counter while my items were at the counter. She sent all my mail back in the first complaint for no reason except that she didn't know who we were, closed my P. O. box after having it for, oh, over 20 yrs which was a nightmare to fix. I filed a complaint on her. Now, that same lady is again sending packages back that were to be delivered to my P. O. Box.
Thank God for the professional people who work in Commerce City Postal Service for they resent my package back to Dupont and she left me a note to see her this time and gave me the package. I knew my 1st complaint would bring about retaliation on her part. Now, just last week, another package came for my P. O. Box and she threw some yellow card in my box with scribbles all over it. I went into the office of the post office and she always is so rude to me and yells at me while another customer was in the office waiting to be helped.
She told me she is not going to deliver anything to me unless I give her a list of people who come stay with me or visit me who might get mail at my address. How dare you people let this woman think that she can play God with my life. My address is ** and if mail comes for my P. O. Box, then it better be delivered. How long am I to be harassed by this woman? This is against my rights. Am I complaining to the right office this time? It is not any of her business who visits or stays with me. What her business is, is to deliver my mail.
I knew she would treat me in this manner. I better not find out that any of my mail has been destroyed or sent back by this woman. I have never ever had a problem with anyone at that post office until now. How long am I to be harassed?

This went on for a while and we had some mail sent back (without ever reaching us) and we were told that the address wasn't correct. My wife contacted the post office. She was told that 560 was indeed the old address and that it may be different now because of the new e-911 emergency addresses. We have contacted to e-911 emergency director and received a letter stating that our address is indeed 604 east. This incident happened on July 21. I am sorry I have not addressed it prior to this because I was ill. I went to the Post Office at 44th St and Broadway, Astoria, NY 11103 and after a half hour's patient wait (there is always a long line and not enough tellers), I asked the post office employee (an Indian man - approximately 45 years of age) for a Priority Mail stamp and regular stamps. He stated: "We have no more stamps left." and tried to sell me stamps in 1 cent denominations. I could not believe the U.S. Post Office did not have regular or Priority Mail stamps (I asked about this in the Rockefeller NYC office and a security guard told me there have been layoffs and have lack of stamps even there.) This is my first experience, however, in walking into a post office without stamps - its main stock in trade, and I thought this was bizarre. I asked the Post Office employee to see a supervisor. She never came out and hid in the back for half an hour. I finally spoke to him again and he shrugged his shoulders and said: "Too bad for you." While I was leaving the Post Office in shock, he also yelled out the teller's window: "Get lost!"
I was unable to send a package timely, and had to go to another post office the next day (Rockefeller Center). In an increasingly "anything goes" society, it seems that people feel entitled to "act out" and do and say anything they want to - including insulting and belittling customers. This incident was outrageous, and this postal employee was, without a doubt, totally secure in his position to yell at a client across a room of waiting customers. He was insulting and abusive. He needs to be brought into line. Even if there are layoffs and a lack of stamps (which I still cannot believe), I still believe this is the United States of America where there are consumer rights. The post office in Astoria Queens is one of the worst, and in addition to long lines has no postal machines and has insulting employees. Please do something about this horrible condition. I was insulted and mortified. It is beyond bizarre and this man should be brought to task for his abysmal behavior.

Lost Mail - I sent an Express Mail package several days and it has yet to arrive. It contained a USPS money order for an item I purchased online. There are several misleading statements by USPS on Express Mail such as: (Lie #1) It is an overnight service. Apparently, they "try" to get it there overnight, but in my case they can't get it there after several days.
(Lie #2) A tracking service is offered. The only tracking information I can get online after 5 days is that it was received at the post office I took it to. Reading threads online, it appears they don't actually track and the only thing you will ever see on the tracking site is that it was dropped off at a post office and possibly an update after it is delivered, if that.
(Lie #3) They deliver on Saturdays and sometimes Sundays. I sent this from D.C. to Fla early Friday morning. There was clearly no attempt to deliver on Saturday or Sunday. (Lie #4) You can call their customer service and they will help you. Twice (on different days) I was told "their systems are down" and nothing could be done and could I call back later.
Luckily, I believe I can get a new money order since I still have the receipt but will have to take time out of my day and not sure how that works yet.

Then, I was told that because the package was not insured, the only thing I can do is to pay to ship the remainder of the package to MN, and maybe in a month or so, if they find the missing items, they will send them to me. If they don't find them, they will not respond in anyway.
So it looks like I paid $20 to have the antenna shipped to me, paid to park, wasted over an hour of time and now they want me to give them another $11 to ship the tube to some warehouse in MN in the hopes that maybe some USPS employee will take time away from his extended lunch break to actually look through a mountain of stuff, find my particular item and send it to me? Right. I am going to insist on UPS or FedEx for all future shipments and suggest you do the same. Consequences: huge waste of time, mental distress that any company can have such total disregard for their customer’s time and parcels and $150 lost.

On Saturday, August 15, I went to pick up my mail out of our post office box, only to find a piece of tape across the back of the rental box and no mail. Over the weekend, I went to my bill paid box to look up to see when I had paid my last box rental, only to find that my check was inside the envelope dated 5/23/09 and hadn't been delivered to the post office.
Today, I went over to the post office to pay my late payment, only to find out that my box had been closed and my mail had been sent back to the sender. (I have no idea what was sent back to sender.) I find this method of operation totally unacceptable. I have had a rental box at your RTP location(s) for over ten years and have never been late with my payments. Yes, I did make an error, but I was never notified that you hadn't received my payment.
The unsympathetic ladies at the post office told me that the Postal Service never gives out late notices. Again, I find this totally unacceptable. The United States Postal Service is supposed to be a service to the American people. This problem needs to be fixed. It doesn't cost hardly any money to print up post cards to let patrons know they are late with their box rental. This is an easy fix. If notices can be put in our individual boxes, it would be very easy to put reminder post cards in individual boxes if payment hadn't been paid by due date.
By the way, I had my friend proof my letter, and this is what she wrote back: You may want to add that other postal offices do leave a reminder note in the mailbox. I know this for a fact, because we used to have one when we lived in Cary. It happened to me - I forgot - and they put a nice friendly reminder note in my mailbox!
Change your policy! Print those late notices postcards and use them. I am guessing this is not the first time this has happened. Unfortunately, it was the first time that it happened to me. I would like to have a response letter back from you acknowledging that you have reviewed and considered my suggestion. I have also filled out online complaints with the Inspector General, since one of their areas to receive complaints equals to deficient practices, systems, controls, or decisions. I think this qualifies!

I have been trying to complain about an employee for 22 years. The USPS refuses to even confirm or deny the person I dealt with was an employee. The USPS does not accept complaints against employees, does not have a form to fill out or even a superior to talk to. The person I dealt with used a letterhead from the postal inspector’s office and signed her title as "supervisor, operations support". USPS refuses to confirm or deny if she was authorized to use that letterhead or if she even exists. Several postmaster generals have refused to speak to me. The chief postal inspector refused to speak to me for five years and still refuses to listen to a complaint against an employee. He even told me to look for an unknown man as he was the one I had the problem with. I remain convinced a postal employee impersonated a postal inspector and set up a phony mail order company, but there is no way to report it as the USPS does not accept complaints against its employees.

Before I went on vacation, I called 1-800-275-8777 to place a hold on my mail. I spoke with a Pricilla and she placed a hold and gave me a confirmation number of **. Therefore, I left in confidence that my mail was placed on hold. A week later, I returned from my vacation to discover that one week worth of my mail was cramped in my mailbox. I was supposed to pick the mail up at the post office upon my return on the 10th. I discovered the cramped mail on the 9th (Sunday). That Monday (August 10th) I called the post office at the above number to file a complaint. I spoke with a person by the name of Calmay. After that person took my complaint, they gave me a complaint reference number (**). They said that someone would get in touch with me within 24 hours. I waited 24 hours later. No one called me.
Therefore, I called back. I gave them plenty of time to call me back. I remind you now that my mail is not being delivered at all since August 15th. I was receiving mail from the 10th to the 14th and then it stopped. I called back on 8/17/09. I then spoke with Leila. She again took my complaint and gave me a complaint reference number (**) and told me the same thing. Therefore, I waited again for someone to get in touch within 24 hours. I did not hear from anyone. The next day (8/18/09), I called again and spoke to Sharese. She took my complaint and took both my cell and home numbers. She informed me that this would be escalated to consumer affairs. She stated to me that someone would get in touch with me the next business day. No one did.
At this point, I feel like no one has taken me seriously. I gave it a day to give them time to call. Then on 8/20/09 I called again and spoke to Donny. His attitude was they closed the case and therefore there is nothing he could do about it. I asked him why the case was closed. I then asked Donny for the address where I could mail my complaint. He could not give that to me. He could not give me an answer. I then asked to speak to his supervisor and that is when she (Britney) informed me that they closed the case because they couldn't get in touch with me by my home phone number. It went straight to a fax. I informed her that I gave both my cell number and my home number. They always ask for an alternative number. That is when Britney reopened the case and gave me yet another number (**). Now I am waiting for consumer affairs to get in touch with me - yet again! I still have no mail!

Finally, I went online this morning and spent much time trying to get info on this matter. The result was no record of the above tracking number. I moved from Arkansas to Arizona City in August 2008. For 10 months, I had no problems receiving my mail. Then in June, 2009, I started getting phone calls from my sisters in Arkansas that the mail they sent me was being returned. I've since discovered my bills and documents, as well as personal mail were all being returned to sender with a yellow sticker on it saying "return to Sender. Attempted - Not Known. Unable to Forward."
I've been to the post office in Arizona City twice trying to get this straightened out. Both times filling out forms and signing them and being assured that would take care of the problem. However, it did not. I've written many emails to the post office and have gotten replies from Verdine ** addressing my problem and telling me I would receive a call in one to two business days. This was on August 4. I did not receive a call and have sent out more emails saying the problem isn't corrected and being promised a phone call, but have received none.
I went to Casa Grande Post office to speak to the post master and was told he was at lunch but would call me back in an hour or so. That was a week and a half ago. On August 17, I called the complaint department of the post office and talked to a guy named Kyle, who told me my confirmation number and complaint would be escalated and sent to the consumer affairs department (I don't know if that was CSD of the post office or what. I have heard from absolutely no one from the post office and have only gotten responses per email and the one phone call).
The post office box I receive my mail in is in the name of my boyfriend but from the beginning, when I moved here, I filled out paperwork and received my mail in his box without any problems. I have never had problems receiving my mail anywhere I've lived until this. Also, I've never lived in a town that only has post office box mail delivery. They do not have home mail delivery in this town. I've been trying to get this matter straightened out for about a month. I'm tired of the stress it's causing me and tired of not receiving important papers, my bills and personal mail because of incompetence.

I shipped 3 packages to the same person in Argentina through USPS EMS on 7/8/09 and the least weighted and valued package got delivered on time while the two most expensive ones got stolen. The online tracking shows "International Dispatch, July 09, 2009, 10:12 am, ISC New York NY(USPS)" and no more update since then. I filed inquiry with USPS and got a claim form simply stating the packages were stolen. I don't know how USPS handles the packages and how could two large and heavy boxes get stolen at the same time. The 2 packages almost cost me $10,000. But unfortunately, I only insured $500 each because that's the maximum value allowed online.
I know I made a huge mistake not to fully insure the packages through EMS, simply to save a trip to the postal office. But I have never heard of two packages getting lost together. I have asked USPS how they handle the shipment and how such an incident could happen. I understood USPS may occasionally make mistakes on package handling. How could they on two large packages at the same time? I talked to USPS 1-800 personnel several times but no one can offer further assistance. I wish someone could help me and recover some of the loss. I fully understand the economy is not good at this time and the USPS can steal some packages to compensate their income. But please, only steal one package at a time, not two packages. Thanks!

I called the US post office today inquiring about standard mail delivery. Mr.Kenny ** who is also the postmaster there, answered the telephone. The question that I asked him were that - if I sent a mail from Madison, GA to Atlanta, GA, how long will it take to reach it destination. The postmaster wouldn't respond to me. I waited for about another minute then I said hello - the postmaster still wouldn't respond. He was standing there holding the telephone listening to me talk; but failed to respond or say anything to me.
I asked the postmaster to transfer me to someone who would assist me. Then, the postmaster responded saying, "I'm the post master here." Then, he responded to me saying, "We have all kind of mail deliveries, maybe it will take 3 or 4 days." He said it in a very rude way. So I said, "thank you!" But the postmaster slammed the telephone down very hard in my ear. I called back and one of the female individuals answered the telephone; and I asked her what was the postmaster's name. I explained to her what he had done; and how he had treated me.
She was afraid to give me the contact number to Consumer Affairs, so she gave the telephone to the postmaster that had treated me unprofessionally. The postmaster claimed that he was on the other line when he found out that I was going to make a complaint against him. He tried fibbing his way out of the way that he had treated me. I really don't appreciate being treated this way. I'm trusting that Consumer Affairs will rectify this problem within a timely matter.

I rarely deal with USPS, particularly because I have bad experiences with them when I send anything other than an envelope. I sent a package out of the Huntington Beach, CA UPS office and it was forwarded on to the USPS. I paid $20 to have the package arrive at its destination 4 days later. I was sending a present to my little brother who was at camp and had just had his appendix removed. Needless to say, the package got there ten days later, after he had left camp. Now, two weeks later, the package has yet to arrive anywhere. The last time I shipped a package with USPS, it took the tiny package four months to arrive at its destination (an hour drive away from where I had shipped it).
I tried to contact USPS regarding this issue but their website does not provide any number where you can speak to an individual representing them. It's either automated systems or simply online technical support. It would have been nice to speak to someone who actually works at the company. I am incredibly disappointed that the Post Office has never come through for me and I am finished dealing with them. I refuse to use them for anything other than mailing letters.

Two issues I would like addressed here. One, why was it delivered to a totally different address? Secondly, why was it able to be accepted by a third party when I mailed it restricted delivery? It was my understanding that it meant that he and only he would have to sign for the letter. Our private legal documents are not in the safe hands with the postal service. I feel that me and my husband's privacy rights were violated. His parents received and probably opened our divorce papers.

We scheduled a pick up to ship an Alfred Angelo Gown in style number 2009, color ivory/metallic size 4, and a jacket style number 1869, color ivory/metallic Size 2 to India. This parcel was picked up in 2009-03-18. The customer's wedding date is in 2009-06-20, but the parcel never arrived. The parcel's tracking number is **. For today, 2009-08-06, we still have no answer for this parcel. We are really, really upset about this happening to the wedding and surprised that USPS lost my customer's parcel. We hope this complaint may help me out to check where her wedding Gown and Jacket is. Customer paid extra money to order another set of gown and spend extra for rush service fee.

On July 16, 2009, I mailed my documents priority mail with a delivery confirmation required. I received a call from the company (CitiMortgage) on August 3, 2009 inquiring as to why they haven't received the documents that I mailed on July 16, 2009. CitiMortgage and I went online to track the package. The package was mis-sent on July 18, 2009 and then delivered to a different city on July 21, 2009. The CitiMortgage representative had no idea where Hagerstown, MD was located and neither did I. The USPS did not deliver the package to the correct address.
I called USPS (1-800-ASK-USPS) to inquire about my package and to have them retrieve and redeliver to the correct address. I spoke with a USPS customer service representative, and he gave me a confirmation number. The USPS representative also stated that someone would contact me within 24 hours concerning my package. On Thursday, August 6, 2009, I called USPS customer service for status on my package and to find out why no one has called me from USPS. The only thing that they could do was to open another report requesting someone to contact me within 24 hours. I instructed them to go pick up my package and redeliver it. The USPS customer service representative stated that USPS doesn't retrieve mail.
This is an issue for me, because the package contains loan documents, which included all of my personal information. I requested to speak to a supervisor and asked for a refund. I was informed that I couldn't receive a refund from priority mail. I was then transferred to a supervisor. The supervisor informed me that the computer system was down. I couldn't believe the system was down within 2 minutes of the call being transferred.

I had an insured package sent to Florida on 1/2/09. This was a vanity that was being returned to the seller. It arrived damaged. My local post office told me that an insurance claim had to be filed with the damaged item. It was taken to the Palmetto Lakes Post Office from the receiver's warehouse sometime around the end of January, beginning of February. After months of not hear anything regarding the claim, I contacted the main processing of the post office for insurance claims. They had no record of the claim and said I had to contact the office where the claim was filed. I contacted the seller for the name of the post office. They had to contact their warehouse.
By the time they got back to me, it was early May. I spoke with someone there who took all my information and promised to call me back. When they did not, I faxed a letter and the insurance information on 5/27/2009. Still no response. I called again and was told Al was in charge of insurance claims, so I faxed the information again. After this, I began taking notes of my contact with the office:
6/12 - I spoke with LeAnne who said it was being processed and would call me on 6/156/15 - no call
6/24 - I spoke with Francine who said she had someone working on it.
6/29 - I spoke with LeAnne who said she was processing it
7/15 - I spoke with LeAnne who said a letter is on the way.
7/27(?) - I spoke with the main processing center who said the claim has yet to be filed.
7/29 9:50 a.m. - I spoke with Francine who said LeAnne started work at 10 and she would have her call me as soon as she got in.
7/29 3:30 p.m. - I called LeAnne. She said my claim was not submitted yet because she did not have approval yet and was waiting for a call back, also, that I could not get the full price back because it was only slightly damaged.
When I relayed my story to the main processing center, they suggested I contact Consumer Affairs. Hope you can help.

I sent an item with tracking (number **) and insurance. The item arrived at the destination, but is damaged. I cannot have items become damaged in transit as it causes me to have to refund the money that the customer paid for the product. When this happens, I lose a sale and often get bad feedback on the system that I use to sell the product. This stops sales. Also, I lose the profit for the package that I've sent via USPS.

I shipped an item to a customer. The item has never been delivered. I shipped it with tracking. The tracking number is: **. After my customer contacted me stating they had not received the product, I checked the tracking status on usps.com. Here is what it said:
Class: Package Services
Service(s): Delivery Confirmation
Status: Processed through Sort Facility
Your item was processed through and left our Springfield, MA 01152 facility on July 6, 2009. The item is currently in transit to the destination.Processed through Sort Facility, July 06, 2009, 12:00PM, Springfield, MA 01152
Processed through Sort Facility, June 26, 2009, 9:10AM, Richmond, CA 94804
Acceptance, June 25, 2009, 12:56 pm, Oakland, CA 94615
This has not been updated since I called on July 14th. I've called many times. The USPS just keeps saying that they are contacting the sort facility to find out what is going on with the package, but they never have an answer. Also, they even said they were going to contact their consumer affairs department for me. However, that department never got back to me. I do not know what to do. I have never had a product lost in the mail that has had a tracking number attached to it before. This is inexcusable. The problems with two packages I have sent through the USPS in the past month and a half have caused the stop of my product sales on one of the online services I used to sell products due to customer feedback complaints and refund requests. As a result, my income from that is gone.

It's terrible service and help with getting mail delivered to new mail box. I sent a complaint last fall with no response. I have been told that any complaints about ** (whose mother works at the Estacada post office) got squashed before they get to her employee file. Julio ** and her mother are friends, so they make sure her complaints got "round filed, " this coming from an employee of the Eagle Creek post office. The postmaster herself filed a complaint that went nowhere so she got transferred because nothing got dealt with. She said "you'll be lucky if you even get your mail" when pressed for information on who to contact about a complaint. Why hasn't anyone ever responded? Does my complaint get round filed also?

My mail box was "stuffed" with items that should not have been folded, bent and stuffed to the very rear of the box, so that lots of mail could be pushed and fit into the box. In the box was a card 8.5 inches by 4.5 inches in with the mail. The "Dog Warning Card, Dangerous Dog" were crossed off and "Parcel" was scribbled across the card. There was no attempt to deliver. We were home all day. The mail has been coming very late and I presume the carrier thought they were too late to take the time to deliver and left the card so I would drive the 5 miles each way to pick up the box, if the card means there is a box! I doubt if this was the regular carrier. Her delivery is quite good.

I mailed my husband’s (William **) mortgage payment by priority mail (2-3 days). I mailed it on 07-13-09. It’s to be delivered no later than 07-16-09. It was delivered late (07-17-09). The mortgage company applied a late fee of $30.00. I tried to get reimbursement from the Hillcrest postal store for my fee for the priority mail and the late fee that was applied to the mortgage. They would not reimburse any of the fees. They said that the priority mail was not guaranteed. The Hillcrest postal store or the US Postal Service website does not give any information about priority mail other than it takes 2-3 days for delivery. Customer service told me the mail would get there in 2-3 days. The mail arrived on the fourth day.

I moved in the beginning of April, and at that time, I went online to change my address. All the information that was provided was correct as far as the new address. When the mail started to arrive, I noticed that the apartment number was incorrect. It's 321 and was written as 312. I went online again to note the discrepancy. I was told that it would be corrected. In about a week, I received a call from Bob at the Carlisle post office. He apologized and said that they would correct the problem. As of 8/1/09, the problem remains the same.
I went back online and submitted a correction. The post office now wants me to pay $4.95 to make the corrections. I called the Carlisle office and was told that I would need to pay for "my mistake." When I reminded them that it was their error, I was told to call back before 11 in the morning. Since I will be working, I find that this is an inconvenience. I will call, but I did not like the tone of voice that was used by the person on the phone or the assumption that I was the person in error. If the problem had been solved when it originally happened, I would not be writing this complaint. Thank you for listening.

I purchased an electronic audio adapter for my girlfriend's BlackBerry and had it mailed to her at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas where she is stationed while on active duty. The article's tracking number indicates that it was delivered on July 14, 2009. However, the post office on base cannot locate it and has not been helpful in trying to find it.
I think this is unacceptable. Our service men and women deserve better than to have their mail mishandled while they are away from home and trying to maintain some sense of connection to their loved ones. Is receiving mail so difficult? My girlfriend's building and apartment number were clearly on the package and the post office seemingly made no attempt to either deliver it to the building or to contact her directly.
I hope this is not indicative of how mail is generally handled on our military bases. My girlfriend has heard complaints from other enlisted and reservist service people. Not acceptable. The US Military owes us for the adapter and I will attempt to get them to pay for it on my next visit. The adapter cost $9.00. My girlfriend's job is as medic in the base hospital and she has had to take time from her responsibilities to try to deal with this during work hours when the post office is open.

I had a $600 camera I purchased off Amazon used. The person shipping would only use USPS. The camera made it from Bronx, NY to Decatur, IL. It arrived on 7/27/2009. I contacted my local post office and asked if I could pick it up (I live across the street) .They stated no. I had to wait for it to be 'attempted' to be delivered. And they assured me it would be delivered the next day. Well, it came and went and no package. I called them and they again assured me it would be delivered the next day. Again, it came and went.
When I called them back, they stated they did now know where the package was and would contact me when they knew more. They called me back and told me it was being shipped to Bloomington, IL about 30 minutes north of me. The supervisor (Allen) I spoke with stated he did not know why it was going there but would see if he could get it stopped so I could just drive up there and get it. While waiting for Allen to call me back, I made a joke to my friend that my camera is probably hiding out in Chicago.
About that time, the phone rang and Allen informed me for some reason my camera had been shipped to Elk Grove, IL which is near Chicago. He once again did not know why and when he attempted to call the processing center it was at, no one would answer the phone. He told me that from the center, it would be returned to Decatur. Well it wasn't. It is currently in the middle of Missouri in a Podunk post office. I'm currently in the process of trying to get my camera redirected to home. The USPS really need to take some tips from UPS and FedEx and get tracking bar codes on all packages, so they know where they are at all times. If anything worse should happen, I'll let you know.

When we returned to the US on July 25, 2009, our mail did not resume. Despite numerous calls to the Post Office and a visit, our mail has not resumed. In addition, the mail that was held has been lost, including a Baby-Shower invitation, a wedding invitation, and several of our wedding gifts.

I had bought a Sims 3 game from GameStop at the nearby mall. I had problems with the disk but the warranty on the GameStop receipt had run out. I had to use the mail to send it back to Electronic Arts for them to replace it. I had two days left before their warranty ran out so I sent it through the USPS First Class. Amazingly, three weeks had passed and I was worried because EA had told me when I called that I should have received a new disk 48 hours after I mailed it. I called the post office and a man picked up. He said hello and then I explained my problem. He said that their phones were down and promptly hung up. I was amazed and now I have wasted $60 on a game that I don't have! I have the pre-order case and I registered the game on the Sims 3 site so as proof that I bought the game.
