I am a resident of New York City, and have lived at the same address for over 2 years now. Until recently, I was receiving my mail normally.

However, I began hearing that people were sending me mail and having it returned because the US Post Office claimed I had "moved and left no forwarding address."

I have made several calls to the post office, spoken to my mail man, and put my name inside my post office box. Each time, I will receive a few pieces of mail, and the entire ordeal will begin again. My mail continues to be returned to senders, and I am at a loss for how to proceed. I am not receiving checks and bills, and am even missing important tax and insurance documents. Unfortunately, it is not like I can go to another mail provider after being dissatisfied with service received. I have no other options. Can your organization please help me resolve this problem? I am not receiving mail, checks, bills, etc.

In December of 2008 I paid for a P.O. Box online. I printed the papers as instructed and went to my local post office. The employee told me that he didn't know how to issue a box that was paid for online. He instructed me to go to another location, but I didn't want another location, this post office was nearest to my house.

I went online and emailed the post office to let them know what was going on. They tried to explain to me what to do but it was turning into a hassle. I wrote them back and asked to just get my money refunded. They said they would process it and it would take at least 4 weeks. I said fine. I called back in March 2009, and they told me that there were a lot of people ahead of me waiting for refunds to be processed and asked me to be patient. I said fine.

My refund wasn't processed until January 28, 2010! A year later! This is very upsetting and aggravating that the post office takes a year to issue a $74.00 refund! I will never purchase anything online from the post office again.

I had an insured package left at my apartment door on February 1, 2010 at 2:00 in the afternoon by our area postal carrier. However, the package was stolen. If it is a policy or procedure by the post office to leave packages at apartment doors, then can't the policy be changed to leaving a postal slip in one's mailbox, so that would ensure a more secure way for the consumer to get their products. This procedure makes me wonder if the postal carriers are stealing a lot of items that they claim to have left at a resident's door. They supposedly don't have to have a signature, so how would the consumer know if they ever left it.

So I was expecting a parcel/package from a close family friend from whom I purchased some awesome hand-made jewelery (not really expensive stuff, totally not worth stealing). She lives in MN, so she decided to send it USPS, since neither of us had ever had a problem shipping or receiving from them before and it was cheaper than sending UPS or FedEx. She told me she put the contents in a small white hard box, placed them in a manila parcel envelope, and completely sealed the flap and even added tons of tape.

When I check my mailbox, my brain didn't comprehend what that package was at first. The manila envelope was completely ripped in half. Clearly, someone had ripped it open to steal the contents out. You could still see the square indention from the box. What is the most ridiculous thing is that whoever tampered with it decided to replace my box of jewelry with 2 CDs for the 2006 surveys for N. Carolina Department of Transportation, as if I wouldn't notice.

I was dumbfounded. I thought maybe it was mail sent to the wrong box at first, which happens. But I saw my friend's handwriting and her address, and I became so upset! It had a big red sticker saying the contents were fragile, so if it had been damaged on its trip, obviously, no one paid attention to that big red sticker! What makes me the most upset is that how the mail carriers or workers at the post office can see something like this and still decide to deliver it without a second glance?!

All they do is stick a little sticker claiming it was received by them unsealed. My friend's tape was still there, unharmed! It was not unsealed; it was ripped open! So according to them, somewhere between MN and CA, the envelope magically ripped in half (I'm talking completely gouged open), and my contents fell out and were replaced magically by 2 CDs that somehow made it the rest of the way? Ridiculous! Are there no honest people these days?

I shipped out a package from USPS in Parsippany, NJ about three months ago The package contained a heart EKG monitor that was supplied to me by my doctor through a third party vendor by the name of Ambumed in Glenelg, MD. After I was finished with the product, I shipped it out back to Ambumed via USPS. Since I never heard back from Ambumed as to receiving the package I sent, I assumed they had received it and thus threw out the tracking number. However, three weeks ago, I received a call from Ambumed that they never received my package.

I've told them it was shipped out and they should have gotten it at least within a few days if not a few weeks. It has been three months since I shipped out that package now and I cannot locate it since I do not have a tracking number. I went to the USPS Parsippany branch and asked if they could help me. They said they cannot do anything regarding the package. I provided all the information I had shipped from and shipped to including the contents of my package. Isn’t USPS supposed to be responsible for getting my package from point A to point B? I cannot seem to find anyone that can help me in this.

My missing the package have resulted in me being charged by Ambumed for the EKG monitor at a cost of $300. I by no means can just afford something to that great amount for something I do not have. I followed the instructions and shipped the package out, and now I am the one paying for something USPS should have managed to get to the intended location.

I know this is going to sound awkward, but please do not judge or be rude about what I am saying. I am an employee of the USPS. It really hurts to know that I love my job and my customers as much as I do and have people that feel horrible about us. Please don't assume that because your experience is bad, everyone that works here is all the same. I take pride in my job and am doing what I can for my customers. I try to treat my customers as I would want them to treat me. I have made friends with a lot of people on my route and try to learn everyone's thoughts on what can be done to better things on my end. I choose to do this because I love it.

I have worked for the post office over 5 years and full time for over a year. I have been thanked many times for doing a great job after the other lady retired. She was someone that had a lot of complaints about. Sometimes we do have bad days such as when we work sick, the mail truck is 2 hours late getting us our items to get to you, or something is going on in our lives that keeps running over in our minds. We have customers that have bad days also. I try to keep my chin up and put myself in their shoes. We should all do that. I just want you to know that not everyone is inconsiderate of others. I also want you to know that we are human beings and if someone just smiles and said thank you once in a while, it really makes us feel appreciated.

There are a lot of things that people don't understand about our jobs, though. I work 6 days a week for 7 or more hours a day with no break! We have to sort our own mail, organize it according to delivery, count the items (letters, catalogs, parcels, etc.), log information, sign a form for every move we make, keep track of miles, load it into our vehicles, and try to deliver it to the right place on time every time, and then do it when we get back in from our routes. As a rural carrier, I have to provide my own vehicle, insurance, etc. That isn't cheap. I do agree that there are people out there that only work for the money. It isn't that great, either, when you have to pay for all the expenses just to have the job like I do. Also, I don't get paid by the hour. If my route is evaluated at 7 hours and I work 12, I get paid for the 7 hours. Then, I get in trouble for not getting it done in time.

Rural carriers go through a route count once a year. If our mail is low for that 2 week period of time, which it usually is, we have to deal with the pay we are given for it for the next year. Most of us work hard, but do make mistakes. We have subs that don't care as much as we do. That is difficult for the regular carriers. I do everything I can think of to make my subs’ job easier, but he/she tends to not care. I put names in boxes, color code things, etc., but there is no getting him to care as much as I do. There are a lot of complaints when I take a day off. I hate to take off work because of that. It frustrates me seeing the mess that was created while I was away.

Not everything is in our control though. Before it reaches my hands, I don't know what has gone on until that point. I am writing this because I, too, have bad experiences with the postal service. I recently had an express package that was damaged (out of carrier’s hands) and scanned falsely by a carrier or clerk. It was scanned as attempted when it was not! That is a sign of laziness. I have called the supervisor over that postal facility several times and have gotten nowhere with it. There isn't anything I can think of that would be a good reason for that package to show attempted when it was not. That is just false documentation to cover someone's butt.

No matter what, there is no excuse to treat the customers the way that you have been treated. Do not just sit back either. There is always someone to listen and take care of it. Know that if you do not get results, keep going until someone does take care of it. Sometimes when I make a mistake, having the customer catch me and tell me (nicely) personally, it gives me a better image so that it becomes more personable. Everyone makes mistakes at sometime, but know that constant mistakes should not be tolerated.

For several weeks, I have had spotty delivery of my mail. I live in northern Minnesota, so snow and ice are a norm here in the winter. Today I received a letter from the post office, in my mailbox, mind you, that my sidewalk is too dangerous for the postal worker to use. I find this suspect as if it was so dangerous, how did he deliver this notice? And since he did deliver the notice, it seems pretty childish that he wouldn't deliver my mail at the same time. Instead he holds it hostage. I am really sick of this. What is it they say about the USPS?

Through wind, snow, rain, etc., the mail will be delivered? What a joke. This mailman also scares my children and they say he is mean. So what do I do? I put a call into the postmaster. Hopefully he calls me back. I am extremely angry. I have 5 feet of snow in my yard and they expect me to shovel a path for this jerk. No, thanks. I'll just shove a huge mailbox in the snowbank and he can deal with that. I constantly worry about whether I should leave my outgoing mail in the box. When I leave, he may just decide he doesn't want to pick it up. Then who is going to get hold of my info?

I am so tired of entering the post office in a smoke-filled haze. The postmaster smokes inside the building, or else he stands out at the back at the door and people have to wait for him to get done before he comes to wait on you. He even left a burning cigarette laying on the table by the window when he saw me pull up, and he went into the back room to get the window, so he can wait on me. Meanwhile, this cigarette is still burning and entering my lungs! There is a law (Is there not?) that states "No smoking in federal buildings." I don't want to inhale his dirty smoke into my lungs!

I sent Joanne *** a picture of the ripped envelope, as well as a copy of the packing slip and a copy of the product price with shipping. I have not heard back from Joanne *** as of yet. Please respond to let me know if the e-mail was received and when I could get reimbursed for the lost mail. The total is $26.94, including shipping. The envelope was sent media mail, and was not insured. However, I spend an average of $100.00 to $200.00 a month with the U.S. Post Office on all my mailings. I am a regular customer and would appreciate that I get compensated for my loss. Thank you for your time.

About two weeks ago I made my change of address. Since until yesterday (01-29-10), I had not received anything online to see the tracking of a check that is very important to me which had been returned to its sender. Today I called the office of La Belle and Mr. S. is treating me with very little willingness to help, saying the carrier (Mrs. L.) of the area later called me. After four hours, I again called on Mr. S. and the answer was the same. At this time Mr. S. were upset and the carrier never called me.

All this has cost me a lot of money by maturity, etc. Not finding cooperation and arbitrary actions by these employees is to turn to you. The consequences that these employees will bring me are: unpaid bills and important information will be lost without being able to deposit checks in addition to the little interest of serving the customer and bad treatment.

A postal carrier has been assaulted in the complex. The postal office has put papers in the hallway stating for NYC housing to fix the lighting fixtures for safety to enter the building. My hallway has been in the same condition for many of years thus far and never has the mail person been assaulted. I call the Post Office to address the issue and I was informed that until housing make the necessary adjustments, there will be no mail delivery or tenants to pick up their mail at the post office. All mail of the tenants will be returned to sender.

I feel that this is unjust and unfair to the tenants who have nothing to do with the issue of what occurred to the carrier and I do understand that safety of their workers are first and foremost but what about the tenants who paid to have them a job in the first place? Without our service there is the complaint for the postal office to address, instead lay-off would be on the table. I am awaiting my W-2's to file my taxes in order to pay taxes I owe to the government and this move of the Post Office would be putting me in a penalty faze at this present time. Tenants should have the option to pick up their mail until the matter is resolved between the two offices respectively.

A shipment of new 22 hardcover books from LaVergne, TN worth nearly $700 retail simply disappeared. Shipped media mail (at $16.35). The 30-lb. box was shipped to CA by mistake. In route back east, the box apparently was damaged and may be sitting in either TN or CT. I was told that media mail is considered "less than junk mail," said a postal clerk.

I reminded him that the designation was meant to facilitate publishers exercising their first-amendment rights. I received a quizzical look, and then the blank stare returned. As a small publisher trying to make a go of it, we can hardly afford the loss of books due to the ineptitude of the USPS. And it wonders why it's losing money? USPS employees are the butt of so many jokes only a highway repair crew could laugh. The result is loss of $675.25 in potential earnings and lost mailing fees.

I got no reply. So I went in and looked for a place to ask for refunds on labels printed and requested the refund. I heard nothing for a week, so I had to contact my bank to request the refund since you only have 30 days to dispute a charge. This service was awful. They had my money and a response would have been nice. Now today, I finally received a response but could be at least 2 billing cycles before a refund. This is outrageous and I will never Click-N-Ship again. I will no longer use this service until this problem with usps.com is resolved.

I went to my local post office and spoke with the post master Phil **. He did a search and it came up the package was sent to damaged claims in MA. I then filed a claim report and it was mailed on Dec. 20 by the Little Mountain PO. I have checked on the status of this claim at least monthly sense. There is no concern to follow through by the post office. I can not talk to a person, the system is all automated.

My local PO did finally get a resolution in August 2010 that the reason for the delay was that the MA Post office never submitted their part of the claim. Phil **, the Little Mountain Postmaster, sent a certified letter to the Postmaster in MA in Sept 2010. Still, no word. Phil ** suggested I sue the Post Office. He is my postmaster and he can not tell me the status of my claim. Several times I and many others complained about the service that we receive at this particular post office. Since then, they have commenced to conspiring against me. For example, I have a post office box and the staff never put slips in my box to pick up my mail. I have had items returned and so forth because of this conspiracy. I guess that I have complained about their services so much that they are showing me that I am correct by not providing me with professional services. I have asked to speak with the manager several times and he stated "tell her I am on a conference call". You see, the staff is the reflection of his leadership.

I am always stressed by their behavior towards me. I have to manually track down my packages due to the fact that they refuse to treat me as a regular customer. I have had my deliveries set inside the postal service for many weeks because of this. Just the other day when I went to pick up mail from my box, there were no slips in my box so I informed the teller that the vendor gave me a confirmation number. But she seems to make a special point of coming in the dark when the ground is slippery and dangerous. According to the post office, the mail should be delivered by 5 pm. She often delivers after 5 pm and sometimes as late as 7pm!

I filed 2 complaints, case #ca100722797and #ca100750813. Both were met with derision and disrespect by the 61107 area code supervisor, who's every response to my statements was "I don't know anything about that", "I don't know anything about that", "I don't know anything about that", "I don't know anything about that", "I don't know anything about that". If he had been standing in front of me, I may have punched him in his smug face. I didn't get his name when I first spoke to him, so I called back using *68 and he said his name was Paul **. I'm beginning to see why people hate the French. He was totally rude and disrespectul and there was no legitimate reason for it! Today, it is 6:03 pm right now and the so called "mail person" still hasn't delivered our mail, and due to the extreme ice skating rink like surface, from my front door to the mail box,and pitch darkness outside here in the Midwest, I will not be risking my life to get it.

The post office complains that people are avoiding using their services and they seem genuinely puzzled as to the reason why. News flash: It's not because UPS or DHL or FedEx are better, but they are held accountable and postal employees are not. That is the difference!

I called the "Help" line at USPS Customer Service twice today, but "the system is down," which I think is their way of saying, "We don't really care if you have a problem; we don't want to hear about it. " I posted an email complaint anyway, but hold out little hope that anyone will get back to me.

I sincerely appreciate your action on this matter. I'm lost with out your help. Hope you can help me please. I purchased a radio scanner over the internet from a person whom I don't know. Tracking number is 0309 1830 0001 3305 3490. This package left from Maryland on 12/26/09. This was supposed to go to San Francisco 94140. It arrived in Sacramento on the 2nd of January 2010. Up till now it's somewhere in Sacramento. I called the post office where supposedly my package is and they don't know anything about it. I called USPS at 1 800 ask usps to file a complaint.

They said they would call me but never did. I followed up by calling. They said, "Sorry, we can't help", to go to your local post office. I did. But they couldn't do much. I paid $110 for my package and it's not here with me. I emailed the person who sent it to me and they checked at their post office from where he mailed it out. They said someone scanned it wrong and that's why it's lost in the mail. Please, please help me. I'm tired and don't want to get ripped off.

The delivery of mail usually occurred between the hours of 11 am and 1:30 pm. Over the last 12 months, it's been extended to 3:30 pm and as late as 6 pm.

Yesterday, the mail failed to be delivered altogether and this happened a few weeks ago as well. Businesses run on the delivery of the US Postal Service and I would like to understand how this can be resolved.

I have called weekly for the past 7 months (yes, I'm insane) to the Wilcox/Hollywood post office supervisors, all of whom have promised to stop putting mail in my mailbox. I am the only person at this address. No other mail should go in there.

The postal carrier is not reading the addressee. It needs to stop. Please help me. I have no idea what action to take at this point. I have physically walked into the post office and spoke to a supervisor and they promised they would stop and it never stops. I just got 3 pieces of mail for Chad S. There is no one else that lives here. I’m not Chad S. I'm so upset right now. Help me make this stop once and for all. This is disrespect.

I contacted postal service’s 800 number and was told they would get back to me within two days. They failed to respond. I contacted them and was told if I didn't send it with confirmation, there was nothing they could do. In addition, the representative failed to transcribe the zip code correctly. I followed up with local center and was given the same story if I don't pay for more than first class postage service, I can't be assured that the US Postal Service will deliver the mail.

On a more positive note, I also checked with the post office in Clemson and was assured that the manager would check the dead letter box and speak with the route carrier to see if anything could be found--one glimmer of hope in the system. Overall, I am not a pleased postal customer. These two pieces both have return address labels and have been neither delivered or returned. And I ironically, my wife sent postcards the same day that were delivered.

One was received on 12/24. The other, which was sent three day mail, has not been received by the recipient. Unfortunately I did not purchase the insurance or a confirmation of delivery. I have also misplaced my post office receipt; however, I do have my credit card receipt showing the post office charge for $29.12.

The package was wrapped with white wrapping paper and the rep who assisted me put extra USPS tape on the package for me. The package contained a new Cricket craft machine valued at over $100 and a black photo book that says “M/C family 2009” on the inside of the first page with a photo of Providence Canyon on the front. Ordered a product about a month ago from a very reputable seller. The seller provided tracking information of which I have monitored every day. For the first week, the package stayed at the original shipping location unmoved. The following week, it was shipped to some place in New Jersey, where it then sat again. A week and a half later, the package is moved to a town in New Jersey that is almost an hour away from the previous location. It's now nearing the month mark and the package is still sitting at the location in New Jersey. The package was sent via priority mail.

Now, how can they charge for something they do not follow? Is there any point to charge extra? Considering you can pay priority, overnight or regular, it matters not, the package will get there whenever. This isn't the first time this has happened for me. Now, I live overseas and every package must be sent via USPS, unfortunately. What's more is that myself and other service members wait patiently for these people to do their jobs. And, for many of us, getting any mail is one of the most exciting times of the week.

A person said yes, I was told if you come inside the post office and ring the bell, someone can get your two parcels. I got a ride to the post office and no one showed for over 15 minutes of ringing the bell. This was right after i had called.

So, I called again the next day and got an postal employee named Harry ** on the line. I stated I had two parcel numbers and wanted to see if they were there and if I could pick up my parcels. I explained these parcels were medicine that I needed. Harry ** said he only saw one, I asked to know what happened to the other parcel. He said, "Don't know you only have one ". I asked, "How can I track the other parcel?". He said, "I told you, you have only one". He then said he tried to deliver them and someone rang the bell and no one answered. I was home and heard no bell. I then called again and Harry became very rude. "Look I don't know where your damn parcels are. We tried to deliver them and you didn't answer your door".

Upon arrival of one of my boxes in Hawaii, I opened it only to find that my belongings had been gone through and roughly half the contents of the box were stolen, they also refilled the box with miscellaneous trash to make it look full again. When I shipped the box on 12/30/2009, it weighed in at 68lbs and have receipts to prove it, but when I received the box on 1/14/2010 it only weighed in at 56lbs.

When I contacted the post office regarding the theft, they informed me that because I didn't purchase insurance, there was nothing they can do. I find this to be an unacceptable response, I paid for a service and they didn't even come close to fulfilling their obligation of delivering my package with the contents that I dropped it off with. I shouldn't have to pay extra to make sure that they won't steal whatever they want out of my box. The replacement cost of the items that are missing total nearly $600.00. Not to mention, the wasted time I've spent writing letters to the Atlanta Mail Recovery Center and phone calls made to the main Post Office hub in Atlanta only to deal with the least helpful people in the entire world.

I find it hard to stomach that my tax dollars are keeping the post office running and yet they feel no obligation to properly service the people of this nation. I've found numerous other complaints regarding the same type of incident only to see that this poor behavior is pretty much standard with the USPS.

The largest box with the best of my books disappeared, and I have yet to hear from the "Atlanta Mail Recovery Unit." There were several expensive science, math, and engineering books I had hoped to use to prepare for an exam I must take in the spring. Instead, I have a pile of books I have never seen before to remind me how foolish I was to think that USPS was safe and responsible.

I mailed the Parcel Search Request form January 11, 2010 to the Atlanta Mail Recovery Unit. I believe the auctions this center has with stolen books/articles is inappropriate for a government-run agency.

I am preparing to move. My fiance has been attempting to get rural mail service which was present when he purchased the property 9 years ago. The postmaster said he was .7 of a mile too far for delivery. He also said the seasonal neighbor could not receive mail. My fiance researched this and spoke to several postmasters, including a regional one, and was told that he could get mail if his next door neighbor requested it as well. My fiance took the form to his neighbor who filled it out and (my fiance) took it back to post office because his neighbor is reclusive. The postmaster went to the neighbor's residence after dark on Sat. night, 1/16/2010, on the pretense that his father's house had frozen pipes. Unfortunately, his brother (another postmaster) occupies that house and was 5 miles away, so this was clearly a ruse (not his house, occupied and temperature 40 degrees).

Then he asked the neighbor if he really wanted to receive mail, "just checking." Not only did this "postmaster" come to a private, rural residence late on a Saturday night, he didn't even come to the front door, instead sneaking around to a rear door, past windows with a clear view inside. This neighbor does want mail. I want mail when I move, as well. Not only do I have a legally recognized disability, I receive and send a great deal of mail professionally which makes it impossible to travel 5 miles on a dirt road every day to collect my mail.

This postmaster has said he doesn't believe we should receive rural delivery and that the regional manager was wrong. I think it must be well outside the scope of his position to harass, (if not illegal activity) a postal service patron by coming onto their property under false pretenses and essentially spying, then trying to get them to change their mind. I am concerned about the consequences of challenging this person in a town of less than 300 people, if he feels he has the right to deny a government service he is being paid to provide, then harass, challenge and essentially stalk someone who is simply trying to achieve what they should have had in the first place.

I am concerned for my/our personal protection and the security of our mail. This person is not only challenging his regional authority, his behavior and actions constitute a personal threat to our privacy and rights. I would like to know what recourse we have to prevent him creating his own rules regarding our mail, and also in preventing him from harassing and intimidating people who do not want him on their property. I would like to know if he is violating any law and what postal patrons can do to protect themselves from these violations and personal intrusions. Thank you.

To start, there has been weather causing roads to be closed so traffic cannot get into or out of our small rural town, so we understand that mail can't get in or out either and mail won't be delivered. However, when the postal carrier that delivers your mail on a rural route fails to deliver your mail in a timely manner, there are problems that arise. We never got a note or phone call stating that our mail was not being picked up or delivered, we had to make phone calls to find out why.

According to a phone call made on 1-15-10 to the Emerson Post Office with Ginger, we are not receiving our mail because the mailman cannot drive up onto our curb in our yard to place the mail in the mailbox. The reason he cannot drive up on our curb, is because the city crews have not removed at least 1 foot of snow in the street from our curb, and that one foot of snow is about 3 feet high but still below our mailbox and a person can still get to our mailbox to place mail in and pick up mail. Since our mail has not been delivered or picked up we have had some bill and banking problems that have arose and now trying to figure out what to do to fix them which has put us in a bind drastically.

I have tried to mail our paychecks in the mail because we do not bank in the same town as we live. With the weather and roads the way they have been, it was not smart of us to load our children in the vehicle and try to drive it to our bank to make sure it was there the next day. We have never had a problem before but after 2 days of the mail to go out not being picked up, I decided to take that mail out of the mailbox and place it in the mailbox at the post office to be picked up. We are not blaming the post office 100% for this situation, however, they should at least let us know that we need to pick up mail since they are not delivering it to our mailing address.

I was advised by Ginger that Stan told her that until we remove all the snow from in front of and around our mailbox, the mail was not being delivered. City ordinance states that we are liable for snow that is on the sidewalk and cannot place snow in the street that we have removed from any location. Thus what are we to do with all the snow that needs to be removed because we have nowhere in our yard to go with it and I am not paying a fine to the snow back in the street when the mailbox is open and can be reached.

It is just odd how we have been able to make it to our mailbox everyday to check the mail but the postal carrier cannot and he has a pick up. As of the writing of this, we still have been unable to obtain our mail because Ginger did not leave the mail out for me to pick up after work when I got back to town since the hours they are open do not coincide with the times that I am working and out of town prior to them opening and closing. I do believe that the post should at least make notification of them holding our mail for any reason especially when that is the only way to receive any bills that you have.

I came home yesterday to find a small box or facial cream that I ordered from France for $450 frozen in the ditch in 2 feet of snow. To say the least, I am very upset. But this is only one of many problems with this postal employee. My parents live down the road, and Mike, the mailman, refused to close their mailbox and said he doesn't have to because it's too heavy.

My parents haven't received mail in 4 days, so they went to the postmaster yesterday who told my father that it's not there. So it must be in the mailman's car. Now withholding mail is against the law, I thought. Last week, my mother was chasing a $5000 check around the field along with other mail. My sister lives next door and finds her mail in the ditch regularly.

We all have complained to the postmaster several times, and he kept saying he will talk with the mailman Mike. Well, we have had enough and something needs to be done. The postmaster has been out to Bauer RD and inspected my parents' mailbox, and there wasn't a problem. There are other residents who also have had problems with their mail due to this employee, and they all want to get a petition going. If we find our mail in the ditch one more time or my parents mail being withheld, we will be going to the authorities regarding this situation. I trust that this matter will be dealt within a reasonable time frame.

They claim this is because of vandalism but the vandalism had to have happened more than 2 years ago. What's more, I pay for the PO and for federal law enforcement that deals with mail tampering. So, why isn't something done after more than 2 years? My only options for sending out mail (there are still some people you must pay by mail) is to go 1-1/2 miles to the nearest mailbox at a grocery store. I am disabled. To my way of thinking, creating these banks every block or 2 is already against the Americans with Disabilities Act but now, this is really ridiculous. Anyway, I was then told to check with my post office here in Columbia so I did and the carrier said that she had never seen it. No tracking number was given because it was not insured, only "priority."

We had another incident with the same post office with the same aunt sending a package to Lima, Ohio to my mom. It was clearly marked fragile but was delivered broken even though the item was packaged in bubble wrap. These are some of the reasons why people are not using the post office and they are having to raise the price of stamps--not email. You can't seem to get good help to get people their mail and packages as promised. Thanks to these two incidents, my aunt will never send anything through USPS. Which makes me think this happens a lot, with that quick response after my inquiry to file a complaint. I think that when USPS sells an upgraded service using their mailing materials, they should automatically require a tracking number. However, I never received my package and did not get any other notice but I received my regular mail. It means my carrier did deliver the mail regularly, but not my "registered mail". I called my local post office again and again but they still couldn't find my package and every time I tried to ask question, they told me to hold down and I have to wait for at least 20 minutes. After couple times I called them, their phone line is hold and can't be reached anymore. They got my phone number but I never received a call back. There is no way I can get any help.

They provide me very bad customer service. I told them I believe my package is lost. They replied, "how could you know your mail is lost?". Come on, the facts tell me my mail is lost. The carrier is not delivering it and it is not in the post office, so where is it? If I pay extra for the register mail and the mail still get lost. Why do I have to pay extra? And if the mail is not important, why do I pay extra for registered service? I couldn't believe how irresponsible of USPS is. If you are mailing something important, never mail it with regular mail service since the chance of the mail getting lost is very high.

This is my first time of registered mail got lost, but I have tried many times of my regular mail got lost. I used to sell my book in Amazon and I prefer using media mail or first class mail, but I have received lots of customer complaints about not receiving the books. I mailed three boxes of Christmas gifts on December 10, 2009. Two boxes went to Pensacola, Florida (2 different family addressees), and one to Omaha, Nebraska. I personally packaged, double taped (with tape purchased from USPS), and mailed the package through USPS. The teller, at no time, indicated neither poor packaging, nor an idea that the boxes might not meet its destination. I tracked and insured (on a whim, thank God) the package, and have verification that the package was processed through the sort facility in Eureka, CA, and at some point, on its way to the Los Angeles Bulk Mail Center, the box arrived empty. I received a Parcel Search Request form letter from Los Angeles Networking Distribution Center, Claims and Inquiry on December 19, 2009. I compiled all the information that was requested of me, and returned the Parcel Search Request to the Mail Recovery Center in Atlanta GA on December 21, 2009. I sent this Parcel Search Request packet I created certified mail to ensure they received it. The certified mail receipt was received back to me on December 29, 2009.

My complaint is when I approached the clerk at the post office that I mailed the package from, his attitude was, "well, this happens a lot". After I had done research on the internet, it seems to me that this government institution has no oversight, no one ensuring the consumers are not taken advantage of, no presumption of fault on their part, nor any customer service to assist in the tracking, recovery, and if applicable the claim requests. An example of the lack of presumption of fault is the Parcel Search Request form that is sent out, states experience shows that proper packaging, including your name and address, with the contents inside the parcel in most instances, will avoid this inconvenience. To assure our customers the service they deserve, it is suggested that these measures be taken in future mailings. I was literally astonished that a crude, ill copied, standard formed letter would be received, informing me that my box was received empty. Why bother using the USPS, when it is evident there are cheaper outlets with more consumer friendly practices.

I sent a letter and a package out at the same time, to the same address. I paid extra for priority mail. I was told they would arrive within 2 to 3 days. The package got there by day 2; the letter still hasn't arrived. I tried to track said letter on the USPS site, but it said my item cannot be tracked. Why am I paying extra for a worthless service? And they charge a fee to try to find it! If this were any other business, this kind of service (or lack thereof) would not be tolerated.

I have not been receiving my mail. First event on November 5th 2009, my husband left his wedding ring at a hotel, in TN, and I had them mail it to my parents home in PA. My mom never received it. I talked to someone who works for the hotel and he said the package the ring was in was returned with no ring in it and the package had writing on it saying returned to sender damaged. The ring was valued at more than $1,000.

Second event December 18, 2009, my uncle told me he mailed my Christmas card with cash for my two year old son in it. We still have not received it.

Event three around December 10, 2009, my mother mailed me her Christmas card and it was returned to her. Apparently, she put the wrong address on the envelope. The address she did put does not exist on this street. The thing that is confusing is there was two gift cards valued at $30 each were in the original one. When she got the first package back, there was only one card in it and the package appeared to be cut open. She made a complaint to her post office and I have made the complaints to my post office. I have tracked my package and today is 1/09/10 and the carrier left a notice for the bank to pick up the package and it is one day past the delivery date that they guaranteed. I called the 800 number this morning and they told me that it was going to be delivered today and instead they left a notice for pick up at 11 am. I called Wachovia and they said that their mail room was open and did not know why they were not delivered. The bank can deny my modification and I could go in to foreclosure. I have never had any problems with the postal service until this past year. The postal carrier for our area had not been closing my mail box, after she put my mail in the box. This had gone on for a while. I did ask her to please close it, and she did not say anything. I assumed she did not hear me. I came home from work one afternoon, and my mail box was open and all the mail was wet. I went and made a complaint about this to the postal manager.

After that, the delivery service was better. Then during the holidays, I sent out Christmas cards with photos and gift cards as I do every year and have never had any problems.

This December 2009, I had 4 Christmas cards slit open and the card, photos, and gift cards were taken; the envelope arrived at the designated address but with nothing inside. Each envelope was put into another envelope (the yellow ones with the window to see the address) which really upset me. I sent Christmas cards out in good faith. I had to stop payment on a check sent out to my daughter; that cost a $35.00 stop payment fee. I had two more Christmas cards I wanted to send out, so I waited until after the New Year to do so, hoping that the person/persons doing this would be finished stealing from the mail.

On January 3, 2010, I sent out 2 more, and they both were slit and everything was taken. One envelope was also put into a yellow one, but the other was not. My sister received an envelope sliced up with nothing inside. This makes me very upset, as I work very hard to get what little I can for my family. I went Wednesday, January 6, 2010, to make a formal complaint to the postal manager. She was not helpful at all and told me she could not do anything about this issue. She also said that the cards probably got caught up in a machine. I wanted to know why they were still using the machine (I did not believe her.) and why only the cards with photos, gift cards, and a check were the ones ripped.

She gave me a number and told me that was all she could do. I called the number. The person on the other end was a dispatcher and could only take the information and gave me a reference number and told me someone would call me in 1-2 business days. I would like to have someone help me with this issue and stop acting as if it's okay for this to happen. I have not heard from anyone, and not sure, if I will.

I will never use the US postal service to send out cards again. I still have 3 more to send but will not send them. We all pay for this service and expect the service to be safe and fair, which it is not. How many other people has this happened to?

On Wednesday, December 30, 2009, I phoned 800-ASK-USPS to file a complaint. I was given a confirmation number and told someone would get back to me within 2 business days.

After not hearing back, I called again on January 8, 2010. I was told the issue was marked "Resolved," but no details were entered and I was told this is unusual. I was given the number to the USPS Consumer Affairs Office in my region (Phila, PA). I have now been on hold, waiting to speak to a human being, for 45 minutes. Delivery confirmation says "Delivered, October 31, 2009, 12:26 pm, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360. " I never received anything. Post office claims that the package was left at my front door. I and my wife were home all day long and did not hear anyone knocking the door. (It's a small apartment with front door right in front of us) Inkgrabber refuse to help since package was delivered. Post office refused to do anything, saying that they normally leave packages at the front door and since there was no signature requirement or insurance, they are not responsible. Filed a claim with American Express with their purchase protection but was denied since printer ink is not covered. I lost $50 and no one is willing to take responsibility.

What I am wondering is how can post office just throw a package at my front door for anyone to just take it and not be responsible. This is an apartment complex, not a private residence. This is not the first time something like this has happened. Last year, I lost a book I ordered from Amazon in exactly the same manner. Book was left at my front door and disappeared. Today I checked my mail to find yet another one of my textbooks crammed into it. This is not the first time my mail person has done this. Back in August, they did the same thing with another one of my textbooks. Shortly before that, they folded my husband's diploma that clearly stated 'Do Not Bend' on the envelope and proceeded to put that in the mailbox as well. Now, my mailbox is approximately 4" x 5" and the size of the package my books come in is 10" x 15".

After the first textbook was put in the mailbox and damaged, I called the USPS and complained. I called again today and made another complaint. We have lived here for nearly 10 years and never had a problem until August. The supervisors I have spoken with don't seem too concerned yet claim they will speak to the delivery person. They also said this after my first phone call and yet it still happened again. I have two more books coming this week and am tired of the mishandling of my mail by the delivery person. Is there anything I can do? Should I wait at the mailbox and confront the person myself? This should not be tolerated. I can't believe they are actually allowed to handle the mail like this without any consequences!

Purchased a $219.99 retail Arctic Cat TXI orange snowmobile helmet. It was mailed on 12/14 in AK, with delivery confirmation. The package was accepted at the PO.

A complaint was opened via the customer support of USPS. My local PO called the next day. They were great, but said unfortunately they could tell me no more than it was accepted in AK. Shipping was $36 and it has not yet arrived to my local PO. Not much else the local PO could do. They stated it should have arrived by now unless the zip code when sent was incorrect. If not deliverable, then it would return to sender. If undeliverable, would be sent to Atlanta or something. I verified that the address used was correct and that the package was not sent back to the sender. Unfortunately, the sender did not purchase insurance (just deliver confirmation). Therefore, I am at the mercy of the USPS, which so far seems like I am out my cost for the item plus shipping with what seems like no recourse.

Needless to say, my trust in the USPS has been shattered. If there was not proof that the USPS did receive the package or that the package had not been delivered, then I could understand the USPS not being able to accept responsibility. I would not expect them to take responsibility if one could not show/prove that they are actually at fault. But in this case it was entrusted with them and a good sum of money was paid to them to perform a service, namely to deliver the item. Yet they completely failed and "lost" the item. Any reputable business or service provider would assume responsibility as it is clearly the USPS' fault and work to remedy the situation. Yet it seems like the USPS is not held to any responsibility/consequences. I have an open complaint with them, and am awaiting additional information from an e-mail I sent asking if they check the "lost and found" locations since there is a CD tied to the package, etc. At this point it feels like I am just out of luck and my money/item and feel like there is no alternative to have it corrected. It also appears that this is not necessarily a "minority", but seems to occur quite often.

It was the type of box that closes and empties the mail into the box. So I figured that the problem occurred either with the person emptying the box or at the postal hub in City of Industry. This is a drag because it is the only time of year I communicate with some of these people. I became aware of this situation when my sister in Hesperia received the envelope only (cut on 3 sides). On Dec. 28, 2009 I went to the US postal office to send an overnight letter. The lines were long, so I chose to utilize the automated machine. I keyed in the information requested, paid the $19.80 required for overnight and return receipt. The machine dispensed a domestic return receipt label with a pre-printed tracking number. Under the service type, express mail was pre-printed. I completed the address as required, peeled the form off and attached it to the express mail envelope, and dropped in the postal chute. The next day, I went to the website to track delivery and received confirmation that the letter had been delivered to NJ as requested. Imagine my surprise one hour later when I received the letter back from my mailman for no postage?

I immediately went to the post office with the letter in hand, along with the tracking information and receipt from the machine verifying I paid $19.80. The inept clerk, Allen, was unable to provide any answer as to why the system showed it delivered while I was still holding it in my hands. He actually had the gall to suggest that the letter had been sent all the way to NJ from TX and then back when they found it had no postage - all that in a span of 20 hours. They agreed to resend the letter, but in order to ensure overnight delivery, I was asked to pay the $19.80 again! Needless to say, I asked to see the postmaster, Stan **, who refused to come to the front counter.

After several minutes and pointless arguing with Allen, I was told that Mr. ** would be over an hour if I was to wait. Since I had to have the letter to NJ by the 30th, I chose to leave and pay FedEx to deliver instead. I am appalled by the service I was given by the employees of the USPS and their management. The clerk even went as far as to suggest that I put the label on another letter in error and sent that one instead, which made no sense since I only conducted one transaction yesterday and was holding the actual letter with tracking number in hand. I feel sorry for the poor person whose package or letter was delivered to the NJ address in place of mine.

Obviously, the screw up is on the part of the USPS, but no one wants to take responsibility for the mistake. Needless to say, that is the last time I will utilize the USPS for any package delivery.

This is very sad. You claim to be the best at what you do, but it is very clear that you cannot mail to other countries. I sent a package for my girlfriends for Christmas on the 12th of Dec and still it has not arrived. How can you claim to be to best handler when you cannot even track something outside of the USA? This is sad. Every other company that does shipping can except you. This is a very sad day when someone cannot even have their Christmas presents by Christmas. You all should be ashamed of the way your company performs. This is unheard of a company this large, which claims to be able to ship anywhere in the world. Why did I have to pay so much (labeled as priority) when this happens? Shouldn’t I get all my cash back, seeing how your so-called priority mail does not exist there?

I am going to try and bring this to the notice of everyone in the USA about your lack of being able to track anything outside of the USA. This is not right. I paid almost $170 for no service at all, just for you to stick in a box and try and mail it yourself. Maybe you all should look into using FedEx yourselves or someone else, because they can track packages sent around the world. How can the US Postal Service not do that? It is the craziest thing I ever heard. You should really be ashamed of your business practices. Again maybe you need to start using FedEx or UPS. This is crazy. Every time I have sent things (before) with either of these other companies, they at least could actually track it. But you, once it leaves the US, well, it is out of your hands. Is that fair?

This is very, very, very sad. Again the US Postal Service needs to make a deal with one of these companies to ship out of the country. My package was shipped to the Philippines out of Tampa on the 12th and still nothing. No way of tracking it. It is just lost in the mail. $170 out of my pocket, wow, unheard of. Heck, I could have taken it there myself and come back home 6 or 7 times. I will never use the US Postal Service again for something like this. You cost more than the other companies and you can't even track it once it leaves US soil. Wow, what kind of company is this? A very, very, very sad day. Thanks for nothing, US Postal Services.

Many of the undelivered packages never even made it out of the place where they were first accepted. This is horrible and it hurt my business. It has gotten worse and worse.

It seems that we've lost about a month's worth of mail which was supposed to be forwarded from our WA State address to a UPS Store address in FL. Many days of mail were erroneously returned to our WA state address, from where it was re-sent to the UPS Store address in FL, in a sort of "endless loop" nightmare, and now it seems to have vanished altogether. All the parties point fingers at the other parties, of course, but according to the UPS Store representatives, the carrier at the Turkey Lake Road USPS office has misdelivered "thousands of pieces of mail," just to that store in the last few weeks. There would seem to be no real solution for the victim of "lost" mail deliveries at the USPS. Whether this is due to dyslexia on the part of the mail personnel and/or carrier, to good old fashioned incompetence, inattention, laziness, "I'm off at 3 pm" syndrome, or "It's somebody else's problem," I have no idea. Based on this experience, there is little justification for trusting that the USPS will deliver our mail properly. A month's mail is gone.

Cambridge, MA post office not delivering mail daily - We've had issues in the past, but we've been noticed on heavy/bad weather days we tend not to get mail. This past holiday week, we've had people locally ask if we got their cards and some we have not. Not getting mail once a month is a thin average for our household, but not getting any mail on December 24th and 26th is hard to fathom. My tax dollars and continually rising stamp costs that pay their salaries do not care how many people are on vacation. My job is just as busy as theirs this time of year and blowing off jobs because vacations and sick days increase my workload will get me a fast track to the unemployment line.

The last time we did not receive mail for almost Friday-Wednesday, after I complained on Thursday morning, our mail box was stuffed Thursday night and Friday with no explanation on why I didn't get any delivery earlier. I was unemployed at the time and the delay almost cost me that period check and could have put my unemployment checks in jeopardy. What makes this worse is that the local post office is at the end of my street, less than 2 blocks away.

The valet service at Community Hospital North mailed me the key fob to my car on December 22nd. The postage was $1.39, so I know it was in the envelope when the postage was put on it (the postage was on a label from a machine). When the envelope arrived at my home, there was a note inside, but the key fob was missing. There was a good size slit and tear at the bottom corner of the envelope, so it either worked its way out of the envelope as it traveled from there to here, or someone removed it. Someone may now have my address and the key fob to my car. Otherwise, I assume it has made its way to a lost and found somewhere. This is an oval key fob for a Nissan with four silver colored buttons on it; the bottom button has a picture of a red horn.

I noticed it this time because we have not received our mail-ordered gifts and Christmas cards.

The USPS tells me they will handle it. Well, if they have handled it, this would not continue to happen. This is extremely frustrating, knowing your mail is either being read, used or just thrown away and there is nothing you can do about it. We have gone to the other address and confronted the residents about the situation and have returned their mail several times, in hopes they will reciprocate but, to no avail. By the way, my husband can verify that we were the only ones in the post office the whole time there; it was not busy at all.

Another time, she tried to charge me over $60.00 to ship a package. I said, "What? No way!" For 40 years, the Postal Service has been paying an ungodly amount of taxpayer money to lease a building that is not kept up - Potholes in the parking lot where semis pull in, sporadic heat in the winter time, no hot water, etc. The safety issues are many and have been brought up many times with little satisfaction. Instead of ensuring that the landlord adheres to maintaining the facility, they let them get away with being cheap. This causes a lot of distress with the employees who have to work in such dire circumstance. Can you imagine how many facilities throughout the country that have similar situations. No wonder, the USPS is losing money.

On another front, the USPS is highly regarded and I'm proud to work for it. But let me tell you, the service doesn't seem to be there like it used to. With cost-cutting measures, including an early retirement program, the service has saved a lot of money. However, when the cuts are plenty and no replacements on hand, service suffers. Long lines at the Post Office are not uncommon. Customers are encouraged to go elsewhere for their mailing needs. We constantly are told to grow revenue, but on the other hand, they are throwing the customer under the bus.

This is robbery and why isn't anything being done about it? Is it because it's the gov't. agency?! All the complaints and nothing has been done, what on earth is going on? If this were a business, I'm sure something would have been done by now. Why are they allowed to steal our money and not do the job we paid them to do? I want a refund!

I purchased an autographed guitar from Hard Rock Stage Productions at the end of August 2009, which was appropriately insured. I received it on September 3, 2009 but it was very damaged. I immediately contacted the seller and reported that it had arrived damaged. The seller was advised to file an international claim on my behalf which she did (Ashley). On November 6, 2009, I received a questionnaire from the post office asking what the article was, where was the damage, could it be repaired, etc., which I filled out and mailed back that day. I included a picture of the damage and a copy of the quotation to repair it. I also made a point of mentioning that this was purchased as a Christmas gift for my husband, and that I would appreciate being able to have it repaired in a timely fashion.

After many phone calls to the 1-800-222-1811, I was referred to the "Accounting Help Desk" in St. Louis, MO, 1-866-974-2733 and spoke to David. He advised that the "Claims department" had the paperwork, but it could take up to sixty days for a decision to be made. I told him that I had supplied everything and more, so the claim would be handled efficiently and in a timely fashion. This process has been going on since early September. It is now December 8, and no end is in sight. This was a very expensive guitar, autographed by BB King. All I am asking is for this process to be moved along.

I think three months is a ridiculous amount of time to wait for a resolution. The guitar was insured for more than it cost me. I have proven that it was damaged and have provided a quote for the repair. Is there any way someone could contact these people on my behalf and urge them to make a decision asap? I'd like to be able to have the guitar fixed before Christmas, but I am obviously running out of time. Thank you for any help you might be able to offer me.

What is happening is that my magazines are not being delivered. It may sound trivial, but I subscribed to 5 or so publications and they consistently do not arrive in my mailbox. When I spoke with my mail carrier, she said that their policy is, "Every piece, every day." This means that if the magazine did come to the post office, she would naturally deliver it to me - no problem. And that's the end of it. I have made several complaints to the post office online, as well as speaking with a delivery supervisor. All of it to no avail. They say it is my responsibility to find out what's wrong. They can do nothing about it.

The main consequence is the frustration I feel at having to continuously call the publishers and ask for replacement copies of weekly and quarterly magazines. There is also frustration at getting no response from the post office and having to put up with this crap month after month. Here I am doing a job that they should be doing; they should know where the publication goes missing. But they simply do not care at all. Also, I would actually enjoy to read the publications that I am buying and so there is the added bonus of throwing money away and being deprived of the pleasure of reading the magazines, which is what got me into this mess in the first place. I'm so sick of it, I cannot find the words to tell it properly.

I am a Postal employee and I am totally disgusted with the lack of service we are allowed to provide to the public. There is first class mail that has been sitting in the Darlington office for weeks because there aren't enough employees to process the mail. Today, Dec.4 the doors weren't opened to the public until 9:30 a.m. because there weren't any clerks available to do so. The working conditions are so bad at the Postal Service that it seems as though management is intentionaly trying to put us out of business. I am not merely a disgruntled employee but a Postal customer and I can say with all honesty that the mis-management is a disgrace. I have been employed by the U.S.P.S. since 1991 and I am embarassed to say where I work. It is 3 weeks before Christmas and there is one window clerk working at the Darlington Post Office.(As well as all the surrounding offices) We are expected to do more with less, and that is fine-given these economic times- but the Postal Service should just lock the doors and go out of business if this is the best we are allowed to do. Some one needs to make MANAGEMENT accountable instead of beating the workers sensless.

I have been tracking it, since I ordered on-line and still feel a little unfortable ordering on-line.
When I checked the tracking, the package had been returned by the Post Office as undeliverable! When we are in a fairly large building with our own mail room and he could not find us? It took me forever to try to reach someone in customer service and then he was rude and curt with me and stated that the labeling was probably damaged or the address was wrong. Which I know the address was correct because I verified it with the vendor. When I asked to speak to a supervisor he refused and stated I would have to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour on hold. Then I told him I would hold and he said I could not hold that long and could only be placed in the que for 30 seconds.

Mark is not going to help me with this postman. He will not check on my service, like Dave Smith used to do, he will not check with my neighbors to see if they're getting their mail. He said, "if DAVE SMITH was so great, why isn't the problem solved by now." Well, Dave Smith is no longer his boss. Dave Smith was the only person who took this matter halfway serious. Mark and Jamie will not do anything about my postman and my not receiving my mail as I am supposed to. He implied that I would have no proof that the bank did indeed send out my bankcard, saying I'd like to see what kind of proof they're going to send out." I will have proof, if the postman delivers it. If not delivered, I will personally go to the bank myself and get the proof. I will then turn this matter over to law enforcement, the media and anybody else that will take this case. I'm tired of this ongoing problem and nobody taking it seriously. Mark will not even respond on most days. He stated that I apologized for being wrong about some issue. I think the man has me mixed up with someone else. I have copies of each and every piece of email that I've sent him and Consumer Affairs. None of which, do I apologize for anything. I want an answer to this problem. After 4 separate problems this year alone with this postman, and nothing is being done, I can see that the postal service has no intention of delivering my mail correctly. Instead, they cover the postman, and themselves. If one of them had a conscience, and thought about it, they might act differently. From now on, I need to go elsewhere for help. Mark will not do anything about this ongoing problem, Jamie told me from the beginning that he would not enforce this postmans delivery. And of course, John the postman is derelict in his duty as a postman.

This problem of my postman not delivering the mail is still ongoing. Now I am missing a bankcard issued to me by Metcalf Bank on 11/11/2009, via their automated system. I've been in contact with Jamie ** and Mark ** regarding this matter and to date, I am getting no help from the postman's boss or the customer service manager, Mark **. Jamie, the postman's boss is supposed to be watching my mail sent and documenting what mail is being received. Mark **, customer service manager, will not even address this issue on most days, although he assured me he took this problem very seriously. He is not addressing this current issue of the bankcard at all.

Jamie (the postman's direct boss) told me from day one that he would not enforce correct delivery by my postman no matter how many letters I write to consumer affairs or others. He has lived up to his promise. My bank is now sending me proof (hope I receive it) that it was issued and sent out on 11/11/09. They suggested I contact law enforcement about this situation. I am not getting any help from anyone at the postal service so I will likely have to do just that, plus expose this to the media and write Washington, DC to get help with this matter. Nobody in this postal service seems to care about my not getting my mail! This has been going on in our neighborhood since this postman started our route. I've made numerous complaints over the years, as have my neighbors.

We have lived in our home for 20 years and have from time to time had a dog. We currently have a very sweet 8 yr old shih-tzu who is the friendliest dog we have ever owned.
Our mail is delivered through the mail slot in our front door. This past Monday, 11/23/09 our mail was delivered as usual through the mail slot, but was not brought by our regular letter carrier. While one of our children picked up the mail, our dog was barking at the mail and unfortunately, got out of the partially opened front door and ran onto the porch approximately for 3-4 feet. The letter carrier had run from the porch and flung his mail bag between he and our shih-tzu named Precious. While she sniffed his bag, our daughter called to Precious to "stop" -- and the dog immediately obeyed and laid down. There was no growling whatsoever, only barking at the mail coming into the house. Our daughter APOLOGIZED IMMEDIATELY to the letter carrier during this approximately 7 second exchange. The next day, our mail did not arrive. The second day, Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving when the sales fliers should have arrived, we received a letter from USPS between our screen door and front door (after noon) to let us know that our dog "on many occasions" had threatened our letter carrier and that because the dog is a hazard that our mail would be held until we either permanently get rid of the (hazard) dog, install a mail box by the road or rent a post office box. We were unable to discuss this with the Customer Service on the toll free number because USPS said their computers were down and we would need to call back, but could not say when --- they also neglected to tell us that the USPS offices closed at noon on that day, which we found out upon traveling downtown to discuss the matter the the USPS Supervisor for 34205 zip code. Our letter of reply is incl at the bottom basically stating that this was the FIRST time we had an incidence in 20 years of living here, and that the dog was not going after the letter carrier. Today, the day after Thanksgiving, we again went to the USPS office and was flatly told that there is zero tolerance and that ONLY the letter would be believed, in this case the substitute letter carrier.... and they will NOT budge --- as a matter of fact, they plan to return all mail to the senders if at the end of 10 days we have not complied with one of the three demands. No proof of USPS policy -- no opportunity to face our accuser -- NO PRIOR NOTICE of such policy or warning that this could happen if a dog should ever bark at the mail. ****** November 25, 2009 Day before Thanksgiving & Black Friday sales TO: United States Postal Service 34205 ATTN: Peter Karambelas, Supervisor Customer Service RE: Emmett & Debbie Dykes - household 2616 27th Ave Dr W, Bradenton 34205 Alleged “unrestrained dog” Dear Peter Karambelas and USPS: Our mail has not been delivered to us yesterday nor today due to an alleged threatening by our dog (a shih tzu) of the letter carrier “on many occasions.” ONE time, a few days ago, our dog (who has never bitten anyone - her name is “Precious” for a reason) who is 8 years old (and whom we have had since May of this year) got excited when the mail was being delivered through the mail slot in our front door. Unfortunately, the door was not completely shut and she did run 4 feet our of our door on our porch, barking towards the letter carrier and sniffing his mail bag. Our daughter called to “Precious” who immediately laid down. Our children apologized to the mailman right away. There was no obvious hazard of ANY sort. We know NOTHING about “on many occasions.” Only this ONE time. We have lived in our home for 20 years, all of the time with a mail slot in our door, and we do not want to change this, especially since our dog has NEVER attacked anyone or threatened anyone. This particular letter carrier is not our regular carrier and we believe has over-reacted tremendously. Our regular carrier has even been licked by our Precious dog when we are out in the yard at mail delivery time. Just ask the regular carrier. We greatly appreciate our mail delivery and we also utilize the services of the USPS quite a lot, sending out more than 1000 pieces of mail (including numerous Priority Mail items and packages) annually. We do not believe we should have to rent a box for our home mail (we have one for a small business, Horizon Educational Systems, PO 10826, Bradenton 34282) and we definitely do not want to put up a mail box at the street so that our mail can get stolen! Please re-consider this matter as we strongly believe that we are being unjustly targeted just because we have a dog. Sincerely, Debbie & Emmett Dykes

I paid for a service from USPS to have a package delivered to me. I chose USPS over FedExp and UPS because it was $12 cheaper. I checked the online tracking system to see if the package was delivered. They attempted to deliver the package and I was not at home, so slip said the packaage was available for pickup the next day after 9:00 pm. The next day before leaving my office I checked online to see what the status was concerning the package I had the tracking number. I also made several attempts to call the post office concerning the package to make sure I could pick it up. All afternoon that I called the phone was BUSY all afternoon! I event left work a little earlier to make sure I made it by 5:00 The post office closes at 5:00 pm. I got there at about 4:40 so I had plenty of time. I had my drivers license and the tracking number. I gave him my license and told him I was here to pick up a package that the post office attempted to deliver but I did not have my slip. Immediately from his body language I could tell he had no interest whatsoever to look for my package. He had the I don't care attitude. He went in the back for a split second and said sorry I don't see it, and that I have to have the slip if I want the package! Unbelieveable! I asked him plainly, "Are you telling that if I dont have the slip I cannot get my package? He said yes you need the slip. There was a very very long line behind me so I had no choice but to get out of the line with no package. I called USPS later and guess what? The package IS at the post office and regarding the slip they left in my box, all it has is the tracking number with my name and address, which I had with me when I was at the post office. Now I have no choice but to go back on Friday 11/27 to pick up my package because of course tomorrow is a holiday.
I will never ever pay money to deliver or receive package using the USPS again. I will gladly pay the extra $12 to use Fed Exp or UPS where I can get good customer service. The USPS employee government attitude is unbelievable. They have no regard for the consumer. I deserve to go out of business. NEVER will I use this service again!

I do not believe it is our local post office and I have related this to the postmaster. I do know for a fact there is a huge problem in Johnstown, PA where our mail goes to be sorted. Recently, our daughter had sent out wedding invitations. Now, when one person gets it and the neighbor across the street does not get the invitation, something is wrong. After much frustration and calling, she had over 25 invitations never received. My family lives in Toledo, Ohio. My mother received hers and a mile away, my one sister lives and never got her invitation. My other sister in Lake Tahoe received hers 10 days after it was mailed, ten days.

After speaking to so many people in our small town, we are not the only ones with this not receiving mail or getting to the destination. I have spoken to the retired postal people and they are aware of the problem but will do nothing about it. First, I have been told by a current postal employee they do not care. They are short handed and will not replace. If mail has to be sorted, they have no one to do it. I personally had the same problem with five payments not being received. I very rarely use the post office anymore due to this problem. Just fix it. They are now aware but have not and do not know how to fix it. Just fix the problem. The money spent on stamps and the invitations to be lost is ludicrous.

Our mail route was changed a year or so ago and we are now on the end of the route. Our mail used to be delivered approx 11:00-11:30 am, and now, it's anywhere from 2:00 to 5:45 pm. I was told by a postal worker that if the mail is not back into the post office by 5:00, the mail will not go out that day. So my issue is that our mail has been delivered late so many times that I know it was not possible for our carrier to be back to the post office in time. When we have a sub on our route, we get our mail usually around 1:00-2:00pm, why is it that the sub can get it there early, but the regular carrier cannot? I have talked to the postal workers on numerous occasions about this and they just kind of blew me off. I had one lady tell me that the sub was wonderful and that she worked so well that she wished she was on full time. I said I wished that also.

Monday, November 23, 2009, I took my mail into the post office because I had some bills that needed to go out and I didn't want to take a chance that they wouldn't go out until tomorrow. I made a comment to the postal clerk about the reason why I brought in my mail and about that time the Rochester Postmaster came around the corner and speaking very loudly said, "None of my carriers have ever been late getting back to this post office," and I said that is not true. She said, "Prove it!" I said I will. She was not nice, didn't try to even find out what the whole problem was or anything; she just went off. I told her to stop talking to me like that and she acted like a very angry lady.

If she is the postmaster, I am scared because if I owned a business and I had someone like her representing that business, my business would not last long. I cannot believe how rude she was. I told her I was going to file a complaint and she said, "You go ahead." I am going to get other people on our block sign a complaint to prove to the post office that the carrier has been late so many times and it is not just a concern of mine. It is a concern of many of my neighbors. I am just shocked that the postmaster of the Rochester Post Office would even treat customers like that. She does not deserve to be in the position she is in if that is how she handles customers.

Somehow the post office lost a 2'x3' parcel, which was securely packaged and clearly marked (both sender and return address). Now I am out $177.50, which I refunded to my buyer. Needless to say, I won't trust the post office with even our annual Christmas cards. Since they want to run the post office like a private enterprise, they can go ahead and lose business to better private enterprises like UPS and FedEx. Now, mind you, both boxes had the same address, were mailed on the same day at the same time from the same place ... So how did one go where it was supposed to and the other went on vacation? On two occasions in May of 2009 things were mailed to us that were certified with tracking numbers, The post man delivered these packages to OTHER people. We never received these AT ALL. Upon calling and complaining we were told there is nothing they can do. Oh well. One of these documents was a court document that was time sensitive. Another was mail from our previous address that had bank statements and my renewed drivers license. In the month of June 2009 We had more than 5 packages and letters mailed to us that to this day have still not turned up. Two of these items were court items that had to mailed THREE different times before they actually came to us. In the month of August we had 7 different parcels coming to us that we are still waiting on as well. EVERY SINGLE one of these documents were important. We have continually gone to the post office to voice our concern and make complaints. Every time we are only told SORRY and there is nothing they can do. We are told that they have so many different post people for our area there is not a lot they can do. Now for Christmas two different packages were to arrive to our house within this past week. I have contacted the people that sent them and on their end it should be at our house. Neither thing has arrived. I have reached my limit. There has to be more we can do about this. It is ILLEGAL to keep our mail or intentionally deliver it to a different address. I am currently waiting for a Christmas gift that is valued over $100.00 as well as a Memory card that was sent by Costco. According to Costco it should have already arrived. I am coming to you in hopes that with you involved things will get better. I am astonished at the lack of care or concern that the management has at the post office. I am also concerned as to what else we are not getting in our mail. I have also talked with over 10 neighbors in our neighborhood and they have ALL expressed the same concern. This has got to end. I look forward to hearing from you immediately concerning this issue. There are things that have been lost through our post man that are irreplaceable. Photos and such. I am so livid there are not words to describe it. There has to me something done to correct this corrupt SANDY OR USPS

I called and visited the post office in Chantilly for a couple of times but to no avail. I was told it could be "taken" by my neighbor or a lost is a lost if it's not been insured. It doesn't make sense at all! This not-care or not-concern actually is to force every customer to buy insurance, an extra cost actually unnecessary otherwise. So, in the future, I think USPS should "mandate" every customer to buy insurance when they mail something.

I ordered 4 items on 10/26 from 4 different people on Amazon.com all on the same day. They were all coming from East Coast locations and 3 arrived within a week. The fourth item, which by the way was the closest to me, has not been delivered to me although according to the tracking number, the item was received at a USPS sorting facility here on Oct. 28th. Today is Nov. 17th and not only has it not been delivered, but each employee I've spoken with seems to care more about being able to pass the buck than actually trying to lend assistance.

I called the USPS customer service dept to open a track and confirm the case. I was told that someone from the post office would contact me within 48 hours. Yeah right. I knew this was a crock when I heard it, but okay let's try it. When I called back 4 days later, the CSR said, "Oh well, if you haven't been contacted, we could open another case for you to have someone call you." What? Are you kidding me? Okay, no one called the first time but maybe the second time's the charm? Absolutely blew my mind that she would suggest re-documenting this with the idea that the results would be different than they were just four days ago. So I told her, "Sure go ahead, let's do this again." Honest to goodness she asked me, "Is the address and everything still the same as in the other case you opened?" The level of ignorance displayed within state and government agencies today is beyond annoying. It's frustrating.

To date, Dave Smith was the only one who cared whether the mail was delivered properly. Jamie told me from the beginning that nothing would be done about this problem. Mark assured me the problem would be solved. Since then, I'm missing my professional license and worry that the replacement won't be delivered. Since contacting my local TV station's (NBC) "Call for Action," all communication has ended on the end of the two bosses. If they did their job to start with, I wouldn't have needed to contact an outside source! Now, they refuse to help me, and I still have a haphazard postman. I have requested a name and number of somebody in the postal service to help with this problem, but they are not responding. Mind you, I didn't ask him to hand me anything. A kind mail delivery person might have locked the main door, and let a woman who has been at work all day, gotten out of her car in the rain to check her mail before heading home, and found that the mail had not yet been completed, unlock her box and check her mail. (I could see the small package I had been expecting all week sitting in my box). But because he "is busy, and behind already." "Alright, I'll wait," I say. Then he, with a down-speaking tone, said "you'll be waiting a long time." I asked if I could please unlock my box and retrieve the mail that had already been placed in my box, and he said no. I told him I had never been treated so rudely by a USPS person (and that's a feat in itself, as they are routinely rude in every post office of which I've ever been a patron). I told him a formal complaint would be filed, and he cockily spouted off his name and route number, and said "I don't care if you do." I sat in my car waiting for the guy to finish his already late delivery. Several others arrived to pick up their mail, and were turned away. Meanwhile I was calling the USPS service center for Raleigh 27612, trying to reach a supervisor or answering machine, but it just rang and rang. What must have been 20 minutes and 5 gallons of gas later, a woman gets out of her vehicle. She approaches the mail man in much the same manner I had 30 minutes prior, and asks to get her mail. He pushed the main door to the boxes closed and allowed the lady to unlock her box and retrieve her mail. Fuming, I get out of my car and in front of both individuals I ask "Can I try this again and get my mail since you just allowed another person to get theirs?" He replied, "Did you come up here to argue with me or to get your mail?" To which I replied "I intended to get my mail 30 minutes ago, but when I asked kindly, you were rude to me." Not liking my telling him exactly how everything had played out, he opened the door again, and said "you won't get your mail now at all." I restated that he had just let someone retrieve their mail in front of my very eyes, and that I didn't understand why he was being such a dick to me. In those words. He became even ruder stating that he had called his supervisor and that he would be arriving any minute. I said that I would gladly speak to his supervisor. Suddenly he appeared, took me aside and listened to my experience. As others approached their mailboxes, the supervisor kindly explained that the mailman was still delivering but would be finished in about 30 minutes, and they appropriately said, OK I'll come back. The supervisor then walked back around the corner, retrieved my mail, brought it to me, and apologized for the encounter. I told him that had the worker not been so rude, I would have walked away as others had. But at 5:45PM on a 10 hour work day, in the rain, the mail man had met his match in me. The supervisor was very calm and kind, but since the mailman was so blatantly rude to me, and excalated the issue to this point, I feared the guy would do something to my mail in the future, my address that he was now keenly aware of, or my property (my car which he had also seen). I advised the supervisor of that fear, and he assured me that there was nothing to worry about. My resounding thoughts were: YOU DELIVERY MAIL TO THE PUBLIC BUT MAKE MORE MONEY THAN MOST OF IT. YOU ARE IN A CUSTOMER SERVICE ROLE, LIKE IT OR NOT. DON'T BE AN JERK.

I ordered a package on 10/20/2009. After waiting for almost a month, I never received the package. I called multiple times to see if I could talk with someone, but all they have available is a robotic customer service that doesn't help at all as much as it wants to sell you stamps. Finally after such a long wait, on November 12th, I got in contact with someone somewhere at this damned company and all they could do is apologize and "forward this information to management". I tell you, this is the worst possible delivery service anyone can ever use. They don't care about you. They apologized over and over but could never give any help. Now, I am completely out of my money and the USPS can do absolutely nothing for me! I regret ever using the USPS and probably will not use them again unless there is no other choice. Actually, most likely they are going to send my package to the Mail Recovery Center in ATL to be auctioned off. This is a crime! If they have my package, why not just resend it to me! I'll pay the extra delivery charge! The USPS is the worst!

My dad shipped $1,600.00 worth of collectable quarters with USPS, bought insurance and tracking. The package never arrived. He's been given a complete runaround by the USPS Domestic Claims in Missouri. He's had to file 3 claims. They sent him a check for about $25.00! For $1,600.00 worth of collectable quarters? The shipping and insurance was like $35.00. He refuses to cash it, is getting a lawyer, contacting the local news and a state senator. The USPS treats us customers like jokes. Truly pathetic.

I mailed a large first class package on 11/2/09 from the Roberto Clemente Post Office in Chicago. I purchased postage for this package at the machine and have a receipt. I did not purchase any additional insurance for this package. My package has not reached its destination and has not been returned to me. I called USPS customer service and was given a case number **. The customer are never helpful and do not ask me for basic information such as the destination address and not even when this package was mailed.

It was suggested I contact Consumer Affairs but I was given a wrong number by a USPS customer rep. Since then, I've been given the runaround about my package. The local post office employees are never helpful and so unprofessional and this will be the last time I or my family and friends will use the USPS again.

An express mail package was sent to NY from GA (at the GA PO) on 11/7/09 and it was supposed to be sent by one or two-day mail. However, per the track and form site and NY PO, the package was accepted from Decatur and then processed in Atlanta, and no other information is listed. I have contacted both the GA and NY post offices and there is no other information given, even though my sister paid $60 to have the package sent one-day express. I have also contacted the complaint line at the post office and I was not helped. I had called several numbers and they told me to call this number and that, but I have not gotten any results. The package is a very valuable package to me and needs to be back at my job ASAP.

This gentleman open the door and fussed at me, refused to give me the package because it would make him late putting up the mail..but he could have given me the package instead of displaying that kind of behavior. In the past, I had been told to ring the bell and they would give the mail to me. Now, I am not receiving some of my mail and other people's mail is being placed in my box. Here it is 6PM on Monday the 9th of November, and the mail has not been delivered. Most days it is after 4PM before the mail gets delivered. If the route is so big that one person cannot complete the route without using overtime, then I think it is time to add another person to deliver the mail. The post office is talking about deleting one day's delivery now. How are they going to keep up with the amount of mail to deliver after a day of no delivery? There have been times when I did not get a bill on time, so that when I did get it, it was already late.

My postman who can't find the right addresses in our neighborhood, has now been instructed to band all my mail with two rubberbands.
Somehow they think that bundling my mail in rubberbands will help him find the correct addresses. In the meantime, all my mail is being dog-earred. I don't mind, with exception of cards and photos. I am now having to have some mail sent to other peoples homes, because I cannot trust my mailman to deliver my mail to me. His bosses think the solution is the rubberband. Ah, yes, that will make a huge difference on his delivery to the correct address. Right now, his boss Jamie says he is double checking his work. How long will he be willing to do that for John? Because, I know from all the years of experience with this postman, that as soon as the double-checking stops, the goof-ups will continue. I have asked them not to allow him to rubberband my cards that may contain photo's. This idiot wraps my single pieces of junk mail with rubberbands. I do not want my cards, letters, and photo's mangled like my bills and junk mail is. I guess with this Raytown post office, I should consider myself lucky just to receive it, regardless of the shape it comes in. I am working on my end to get this problem fixed. The bosses at Raytown post office will not fix this problem for the long haul. They only put a rubberband around it.

On the 25h of August the box was returned to me because the mailing label had an error, I went to the post office and had a clerk explain the problem, I told him that I would fix the problem, the guy had alcohol breath, he then told me that he would fix it and talk to the mailman, that was the last time I saw that box, I went on my trip and waited over 30 days for this box and it never got there. I have reason to believe the clerk had something to do with this. Are clerks authorized to correct problems with labels on packages?

My husband and I have lived at our residence for over 18 years. During these 18 years, we have had multiple times of not receiving mail that was sent to us, mail we sent is not delivered and every month we receive other people's mail (often several pieces belonging to the the same person). I have filed several complaints with the US Postal Service and nothing has improved. Also since living at our address, we have had one reported case of a postal employee charged with tampering of mail and my mail was held as evidence in charges brought against this person.

We have incurred late charges on bills that were not delivered. We have not received money that was mailed to us. I have not received prescriptions that was ordered and never delivered. We have an extreme problem of receiving any personal mail from family and friends. Payments we send for utilities and services are not delivered resulting in late fees and charges to stop payment on checks. Gifts that friends mail me never arrive. Merchandise that we order often does not arrive.

I find it unreal that my tax dollars are going towards an incompetent, lazy, less than worthless agency known as the United States Postal Service. For the third time in a row, these idiots have misdelivered or "lost" a package. One of these instances involved the physical misdelivery to a California zip code when it was supposed to be delivered to Kentucky, shipped from Connecticut. How do you do that? The other two times, the packages' statuses are stuck on "processed through sorting facility" in another state, with absolutely no updates, and it has been months now. One of these packages shipped and actually came to the destination, but left and ended up in another state and stayed there in their "sorting facility".

Please, I beg of you. Do not ever ship anything through USPS no matter how much their prices save you! Shipping through them is taking a huge chance and they will lose your package. Praise everything that is holy for UPS and FedEx. I am now out about $450.00 (lost packages combined value) and without an expensive birthday present for my girlfriend.
