    I was supposed to just call, but then after I made the call and talked to a representative, he explained everything, and that was the thing that made me say I'd go with National Debt Relief. They asked me how comfortable I was for the monthly. And of course, based on my numbers and bills, I pay what rates works best for me and that's how we figured out my monthly payment. They are consolidating all of my bills and loans. They get them taken care of at a lesser rate. The reps are very helpful and they are getting the best possible settlement for me. They're doing everything. I'm not even talking to creditors. I just forward them to NDR and that’s it.

    The program is working because I’m starting to see the debt is paid as it relates to my credit. Once they settle an account, then my debt to income ratio decreases. Even though my credit score is not looking the best right now, because I had to wait not paying some bills in order for the program to work correctly, I still can see that it's beneficial. I would definitely recommend NDR.

    One of my accounts has already been closed. The other one is gonna be closed on December. I still got six more months with the program. They’re deducting $200 fee every payment. As of now, the service is pretty good. My MasterCard account is still not resolved yet. The last time I called, they were saying that I don't have enough funds to put in, but I said, “What about if I try to just pay the whole thing, if calculated the whole amount?" I was calculating that I had about 6,000 more to pay. But then the guy told me it was 12,000. I asked him how it got to 12,000? He started saying all the additional fees. But that was not what we talked about. If you would cash it or if you wanna pay for the whole thing, why are they gonna stretch it out? The fees should be waived. But so far, they helped me to pay my debt. The only thing that I don’t like is that they did not show upfront how much the fees are. That's the disappointing part of it.

    We had a friend do something similar with a different service. We researched it and went with National Debt Relief. Getting the ball rolling would be as difficult as anything else as far as information and paperwork. But they could pretty much pull up anything that they needed. It was all done over the phone and emails so that's good. I haven't had any issues with anything that they've done with the enrollment. I signed up September of last year and we're almost halfway through. It was awesome with the rep.

    We had a pretty high debt so cost-wise, it was gonna be pretty sharp. But it's been fine. It was definitely cheaper than all the credit card payments that we were paying a month. Anytime that there's anything that they need, they get ahold of me in different ways. I've had emails, voicemails, telephone calls, text messages. It's always easy to get ahold of them. You don't have to wait. I can always understand the people that I'm talking to. It's a big thing in customer service when you need to understand somebody and they need to understand you. There has not been one phone call that I have not been able to have a discussion with the person. Overall, it's been great.

    I got too many credit card bills. I've been using my credit card to pay for everything during this pandemic. I've been hearing a lot of National Debt Relief on a particular radio station I listen to. I went with them because if they can afford to put out a 30-second spiel, they're somebody probably worthwhile. I explained what I needed to do with their rep. They told me what they were gonna do. They told me I was consolidating and trying to put as many of my bills that they could pay off. There are some bills like taxes and things like that they couldn't pay for, which I know from other people that used debt relief services.

    They were gonna get a copy of me and my wife's bills. We put all our bills together. The rep said they were gonna go out and get a credit report. They're gonna look at all your creditors, and then they're gonna tell you which ones they can help you with. They say what creditors they deal with. If there was anybody they couldn't pay the bill, it was something I had to handle. They kinda gave me the rundown. They said pretty much all my creditors they could deal with. The ones that they couldn't, they said they’ll even pay the bill. I had a truck that was repossessed because I couldn't afford to pay it anymore. They turned around and told me that we could pay that bill off. It's just that they weren't gonna negotiate. They just want their payment but the credit card people are the ones they could negotiate with. I didn't mind. As long as they're willing to pay the bill, that was fine with me. We went forward from there.

    My credit score was down like in the 500s. But both me and my wife are over 600 now, so we're doing pretty good with them. A couple of our creditors were selling off our our account. We would get a letter saying, “Oh, your account's been sold to ABC Recovery." I put that letter in an envelope, and I mail it to National Debt. They take care of it. I don't talk to anybody that calls. If I do, I tell them, "You gotta call National Debt. They're the ones handling the negotiations now. It's in their hands." The only thing is I don't get any phone calls from them for updates. They usually send me emails. But I rather have an email than a phone call. They don't seem to hound you. If anybody ever asked me who to use, I'll say, “Use these guys. They are fantastic.”

    Updated on 03/29/2021: I have been with National Debt relief since October. My experience so far as been great. I was told it was going to take 4 years to pay off my debt. However, I opted to give payments every two weeks to speed up the process. Since then, they have been able to negotiate and get 4 of my accounts taken care of with a good margin. Hopefully, they can keep it up and maybe I will done even sooner. I would recommend this company to anyone that feels like they are drowning with no hope.     I called National Debt Relief and just what the rep was talking about was what I thought I needed. The enrollment process was fine. Also, the reps are easy to get ahold of. However, I have a bunch of items removed from what was listed because I did the work myself. The two that NDR paid off were because I called them and told them to go ahead and pay them off.

    I had me and my husband enrolled. I know the start off was a little rocky because I had surgery and I wasn't working, so some of the payments were missed. But I also told them if they had any settlement, to call me and I would get the deposit in there. I did get that contract with the payment. This one that they were supposed to take, I deliberately not put the money there. Once I got back on track, I called because I didn't feel anybody was working on my behalf. It's a little disappointing because the first person I spoke to who enrolled me was really sweet and sold me on NDR.

    I was told, "Well, they're waiting on the deposit to build up." But when I said, "If you have a settlement, and I need to make a deposit, I will." So then, I started to call myself and I got my husband's stuff removed because I made a settlement with the companies and paid them directly. NDR offered me a settlement for Capital One but I declined that because I wanted a lower rate. I have two more things left in the program to pay with just the two Capital One's, and I probably will reach out to Capital One within the next week or so if I don't hear anything from NDR.

    The reps seemed to be real knowledgeable and my husband felt like that this would work out for us. If we have questions, we can call them. In fact, they called us last week with an update that one of the companies had agreed with the amount that they suggested and they were gonna be paying them off. However, we're still in the process of working through National Debt Relief. We've been paying on the account for about six months and they have cleared just two small accounts.

    The way the program works is slow. It's gonna take some time to get all these bills taken care of. If I had known that it was this way, I wouldn't have agreed to it because it's gonna take too long. We could've borrowed money and repaid these people off without going through National Debt Relief. I didn't realize it was gonna take so long for them to take care of this. I was really confused about them taking that $500 a month out of his check and using that amount of money to work with. I thought they would pay these companies off then we, in return, would pay them. But it's not like that.

    I was ready to make moves regarding my debt and everything sounded to be pretty good, so I went with National Debt Relief. The enrollment was quite simple. As far as the payments go, the rep worked with me to make sure that I could afford it. He asked me how much was I paying a month with all my credit cards, I gave him a ballpark number, and then we tried to keep it in that number. The only thing that I was a little bit hesitant about was the percentage that I would have to pay NDR. But other than that, it was pretty okay.

    I'm 75% through with the program and it seems like it's moving pretty nicely. But I had to call a lot to get movement happening with the other creditors. I had four creditors and I only had movement on one for a while. I was a little more proactive. That could have been something that could be different. I wish that National Debt would push it quicker and try to make sure that you're aware of where they're at, what they're doing, and what's the next step. Other than that, it's been great to have some sort of a relief when it comes to my debt. It kinda gives me hope to be able to live debt-free as soon as I'm done with all this.

    The thing that was frustrating is that the fee that goes to the legal aspect is not shown in the breakdown of money that's coming out. National Debt let us know in the beginning that there was additional money that was coming out. But I wish that I had along the way know that because when I went back and saw that there were these other fees, it was confusing. The other thing that wasn't fully transparent to me was the fact that the 20% that they take as a fee is out of the total amount of credit or the negotiated amount.

    Then I didn't have much direct communication with the person negotiating the settlement. I also feel coming out of this and having the knowledge that I have now that better rates probably could have been negotiated because I was receiving letters in the mail along this process and I felt that some of the settlements I was getting directly, without even having that middle person, were pretty comparable to the proposed negotiations I was receiving from National Debt Relief. If they're going to say that they're experts in this and that they have the ability to get better rates, they need to be better at coming through with that. I ended up resolving the debt and that was a huge relief to no longer have that on my shoulders. But because of the issues that I've stated, I wasn’t fully satisfied.

    However, it was easy to enroll and everyone I spoke to, for the most part, was helpful. There were a few times in the beginning where I had to postpone payments because I was in between jobs for a while and was really struggling financially. They were really good with being patient with me while I got back on track with the program. Overall, it was good. I was able to reach a point where I didn't have to be overwhelmed by my bills because it was consolidated. I was just making one payment versus making all these individual payments.

    National Debt Relief takes a lot of the stress off me. The reason I contacted them was because my credit card debt was overwhelming and I couldn't pay it back. The rep sounded young and he talked really fast. Then the next time I called, I got somebody else. They explained to me how it worked. They took over the payment of my credit card debt. I put money into an account with some bank then I don't have to worry about it anymore. The cost which is $15 a month is not that much. The creditors still call me once in a while and I just tell them that I'm with National Debt Relief. A few months ago, I called them to see where I was and they suggested I use a computer and told me that they've paid one off. Whenever they pay one off, usually the creditor will write me a letter and say it has been paid off.

    I have trouble keeping enough money in that bank account because this is complicated and this is part of my personality. I asked National Debt Relief if they would ever go into my bank account and take payments without my permission. The rep said, “Yes. Not often, but sometimes that will happen.” Being a paranoid person, I decided not to keep very much money in that account for fear that they would draw it out. So I opened another account at another bank, and it's kinda making my life more complicated than I like. I have to go to the second bank and get cash and go put it in the first bank whenever I have to write a check to pay other commitments. It was a service that I needed but it's still is a little complicated for me.

    I had accumulated quite a bit of credit card debt at high interest rate and there was really no way to get out of it. I then did a bunch of research and National Debt Relief seemed to be one of the higher ranking companies. Enrollment was pretty easy. A couple of long phone calls and that was about it. I have two credit cards paid off. I only had one experience where we couldn't hash out this last credit card. It all went pretty smoothly. They send out emails every once in a while.     I was in the middle of searching for help, and in the process of looking through different things I was finding on the internet, I got a phone call from someone who said that they were with a debt and credit resolution company. I took him up on his offer. He sent me a contract, I signed it and I sent it back. I started paying him for services. And it was a scam. I started doing background checks here and comparing phone numbers with names I was given and people I had talked to, and things weren't seeming normal. And I paid them a lot of money.

    The guy that I spoke to most frequently is in Florida, and I discovered he had a very long criminal record. Glad I'm in Virginia. But I thought, "I want my money back. How can I do this?" I can't blow off at them. We're not going to get anything. I gotta figure out a way to handle him nicely so that he will pay me. I told him I wanted out of the contract. I said it just wasn't working for me. He was upset. I just told him there was something that didn't seem right about it. I left a fax. He didn't respond for a while and I got in touch with the local police department down there. I made copies of everything I had and I wrote them in a letter and sent a file. He wanted money wired to him and I didn't yet know how a real debt resolution company handled that part, so I know that sounds stupid and I did it. But I have all the receipts.

    I got lucky. A detective called me back. I said, "I've gone back as far as I could." I did close out three cards through him. I settled on my own. But going back through previous statements, I noticed charges on there for personal things in the area where he lives. I mentioned that to this detective and he said, "Okay. I'll call you back." He called him into the station and the guy broke down crying. He said, "I don't want to go back to prison." He was giving him a choice. It just made me feel so old. He said to the guy, "If this was your mother, would you want this to happen to her?" He immediately paid back what he charged. The detective told me, "If he doesn't continue making payments to you on a regular basis, call me and I'll go back out to his house." That worked for a little bit and then it stopped.

    I had a lot of health issues come up lately that I've had to pay for. So I thought, "God, I wish I had that. He still owes me $2,000. I wish I had it. What can I do?” So I called the detective back in it. It's his cell phone through the police department. It would dial the number and that just sort of disconnect. I thought, "Oh, God, I've ruined things with him. He's not answering his phone now." I finally emailed them by yesterday through the police department and told them, "This is the name of the detective I was working with. Here's all the information I have on this person, where he lives and ladidadida. He still owes me $2,000, what can I do?" I wanted advice on how I can manage this.

    It turns out that detective retired in December, and I didn't know it. I did get a call back from the state attorney's office a while ago, and they gave me the number for that station again and said to call and see if I could get them to get hold of that file and see if there was someone there that could help me. After that, I thought I still need help. I could see how negotiations went by that time because the guy that they were using to negotiate was horrible. He was so rude. It was a three-way call, and I would hear it. Then sometimes they cut that guy out of the conversation, and I wouldn't know it, and then there I am battling for myself. It was awful. But the bottom line was I needed to get out of debt. I shouldn't be retired. I'm not married anymore. I've got a house, a car, and I've got bill. I shouldn't be in this situation at this stage in my life. I want out of it.

    I found National Debt. I called and I spoke to somebody for a long time. I told him part of that story. I just told him what kind of bills I have. So far, it's worked well. I'm a cancer survivor and that causes lots of things in the years beyond surviving and other things go haywire will happen sooner. So I got cataracts. Last year, I didn't have them. This year, they're there to the point where they need to be removed. The surprise was if you wanted lenses that allowed you to see at a distance and close up, you had to pay $3,000 per eye.

    So, I called National and I had no idea that they would go along with this. But I said, "I'm sort of frantic. I can't afford those lenses but there is a certain process, method that they use to take the cataract out that cost money and I don't have it, as long as this $867 comes out of my account for National Debt." They said, “Oh, they get calls like that all the time. How much money do you need?" I said, "I had to make a couple phone calls to get an exact amount." I was able to get both eyes done. They were separated by months because of COVID. It should be one week and the other one was two weeks later. Now, I'm back in the hole with other issues with bone in my jaw from the drugs that causes bone loss that I took after chemotherapy.

    I'm in the middle of that now and the last time I spoke with somebody at National, I did realize that when I asked them to stop for a few months so I could get my eyes done, I realize that that meant that the negotiation side that had already taken place with Chase was then over. I said, “No, I didn't even think about that. Does that make it harder to renegotiate with them? How does that affect their willingness?” I also worry about the taxes. I didn't think about the fact that the money that they didn't receive the full amount is taxable income.

    The gentleman from National Debt Relief that I spoke to originally set the whole deal up. The way he explained everything made it all make sense to me. The enrollment process was pretty simple and easy. I gave them all of my data information and they sent me a couple of different options on how we could do it with different payments and I chose the one that worked best for me. Since the initial setup, other than a phone call here and there, dealing with them has been mostly either through app or email. The website is pretty simple to use and all of the information is on there.

    The program made it a little tight on me 'cause of the payments. I have to make almost a $900 payment every two weeks but it's getting rid of the debt way quicker than I can ever get rid of it any other way. Working with National Debt Relief has given me hope.     I went through some personal stuff, and I had to move out of town. Everything just hit me, so I was stressed with everything that’s happened and I was from paycheck to paycheck. I did a search, and National Debt Relief came up. I contacted them and they were very good about explaining things to me. Once I filled out an application, they took over and they've been handling everything since. I had chosen the package with a lawyer to represent me in case something happened and I'm at that point where I had one of my creditors file a court summons on me. Right away, National Debt Relief jumped on it. I had a lawyer call me. He filed the paperwork prior to the due date and I haven't had any issues. It took a lot off of me and this helped so much. They've been good.

    They've settled most of the cases. Sears is the only one that has contested anything, while everybody else has settled for a smaller amount. It's coming up to a year that I've been paying and I was able to up my monthly contribution to my savings account to hopefully pay it off faster. I started out at 35, and I'm down to 13, so I'm satisfied. I'm hoping that I'm able to resolve some other issues that I have going on right now, so I can contribute even more so I can get through this whole process and start establishing good credit. That's the only thing. Your credit sucks after this. Other than that, my sister is having some issues and I've recommended it to her too.

    NDR said I would pay the debts off in X amount of months at such amount. It should've been broken down to going to each particular company instead of saying, "We can pay it all off in 40 to 48 months, and bam, your fee should be this to do that." You break it down one by one as you go. But I ended up paying more than what I have to. When you're told, "We can clear you up in 40 months," you would think you're debt-free in 48 months. It's not just a 40-month or 48-month loan. It's per person that you deal with. And then you ask, "How much is it that I'm paying it to?" and NDR gets 25% off whatever the total amount is. They need to be more straightforward in the way they transact the business. If I had to do it again, I would not with them.

    I heard about National Debt Relief on the radio that I listen to. They had a lot of people talking about it and what it did for them, especially the radio host, and so I decided to give them a call. It seemed like a really good idea to help me get out of debt. I knew bankruptcy was an option, but I don't wanna do that. I had a lot of questions and the agent that I talked to answered a lot of them and laid out that this is what I'd pay, and this is what we'd try to do. Then the more I pay, I can get rid of my debt faster. Based on my paycheck, he told me that I could pay less or pay more. They'd start to resolve those debts as soon as I get a couple payments and I won't have to deal with it or worry about it.

    It would be nice if they do monthly check in to see where my debt is or this is how many companies we've settled 'cause this is what we’ll need to be able to settle with another company before everything is finalized. But I can always check on the website too. I have seen a couple of debts get settled. I'm still waiting on two debt collectors to formalize a plan. I like National Debt as they are.

When I had questions, I called the helpline or customer service line. They would either go through it and find the answers for me or send me an email. Or I would send them an email and then, they would send one back or have me call them. The payment plan was good. They went through it and figured out how much I owed or what they thought they would be able to settle with the debtors. We figured it out from there. I should be at least halfway in the program and it has made life not quite so stressful. I’m not getting calls from the people I owe the money to. I’m happy with NDR.

    The website is quite confusing for some people who aren't familiar with using computers. It could be a little hard to follow at the beginning. I like the graphs, though, that are on there. I just wish I would've read a little bit deeper and understood better than I did because they charge 80% fee overall, which I think, is a lot. They said I'd be in the program for 53 months and I'm a little over a year now. That'll go by even quicker because the way that it's being settled, it'll be done by the end of '22.

    They need to do a little better job communicating. When I write them a letter or a note, they take a little while to answer it. Considering I've never done anything like this, half the time, I'm asking the question 'cause I'm nervous. When they take days to answer or a week, it's always nonchalant, like, "We'll get to you when we get to you," and that's not the greatest for me. I received a summons from one of the debt collectors and National said they'd get back to me. All of the accounts have been settled except one that I got the summons on. It's been two weeks now and I'm still waiting for them to get back to me. I just wrote to them again asking what's going on.

    The reps whom I've spoken with at NDR have been very good. I use their site to find out how my bills are and where my money has been going. Things have been so, so in the year and a half I have been in their program. One of my bills hasn't had any attention paid to it. The NDR reps say that with the account that hasn't been touched at all, I have to build money in my account first. I have been paying monthly from the beginning though so I don't understand that. With the virus, making monthly payments has been uncomfortable but I've been managing to do it. Still, my progress in their program has been going well.
