I signed up on a whim with Zoosk. I cancelled almost immediately because I realized what a sham the whole thing is. The only ones who contacted me were too far away to be reasonable for dates, and they wanted personal info right away. RED FLAG!!! Needless, to say I did not give out any info to these people, who claimed to be men with advanced college degrees and yet could not write a simple sentence. They wrote as though English was not their first language. Another RED FLAG!! One guy was in TX he said, yet he was willing to fly to Alabama to meet me after one conversation on the site. Another GIANT RED FLAG!!!! I tried another online site and it was just as rotten. This site is nothing more than a scam. Online dating appears to be just a sham, people out for your money. Please beware!

This is a complete waste of money, the replies are generic, and many of the profiles are similar. You have no way of knowing if you're messaging paid or unpaid members (who can't respond), unless you pay another substantial fee. There are free options on other sites that give you as much as Zoosk's basic membership. Save your money or try another site.

My preference is listed as male looking for a female. They put men's photos on carousel pushing their agenda. Fake profiles non stop with text me numbers. They scrutinize your profile once you pay and change and delete what they want to with no explanation. They have rules about no nudity or children in photos but women can post children and wear bikinis with little coverage. You get hammered with profiles that never respond. Complete waste of money and the ones that do respond are the undatable tattooed toothless haggard misfits.

They will regurgitate views to make you appear more popular and it's buggy. It's also automated to force smiles and hearts when you don't even send them. Terrible format. Will not pay for another subscription.

This is a very automated site. I wrote to customer service because my account had been reactivated after over a year by someone in another state. They posted their own pictures but used all of my information including email and phone number. I notified the site, changed the password and deactivated the site. I tried calling but no one answered. This was the response I got from customer service: Zoosk Customer Support, Jun 27, 10:52 PDT: "Hi **, Congratulations on meeting your special someone! The Zoosk profile under your email has been deactivated. It's no longer active, and doesn't appear on Zoosk. We've turned off email notifications, but you may receive them for the next 48 hours. Please ignore these emails, as opening the links within may reactivate the profile. Best regards, *****. Zoosk Customer Support." This has nothing to do with the issue I contacted them about which was stolen identity. Such a poor site.

Save your money, this app is no better than the free ones, there are false profiles that lure you in, they allow people to post their profiles without paying, so that they look like there's a big selection, but if they don't pay they can't send or receive messages. The photos are supposed to be verified and on the carousel that you choose from 0-100 percent less that half are verified. And you also keep getting people that keep coming around over and over, even though you x'd them. When you put your preference it keeps changing it so you get everything you don't want with a sprinkle of people that are not verified or have an account. I chose this site thinking if I paid for it I'd get better quality. I've canceled, but paid up for 6 months. Do I regret spending the money? YES!

Short version... do not waste your money, this site is a scam. Long version... I am a widow and after many years alone I decided to give dating a try. I had never heard of this company but they had somehow found my email and had been sending me pictures of attractive women in my area. I joined the site but chose not to pay the subscription at first. The number of Zoosk members in my town exploded and many of them sent me messages (that I couldn't see - no subscription). After about two months I decided to pay up and I paid $30 to join for one month. Instantly, all the attractive women from my area disappeared from the search function to be replaced by either unattractive people with terrible photographs or attractive people in locations 150-500 miles away from me.
I sent several messages to different women and received a heart emoji response from every one of them. All followup messages were ignored. Sensing that this whole thing was a scam, I messaged several "members" explaining my concerns and asked them to respond with a single word message if they were real people (figuring that whatever algorithm they were using would miss a request like this). Not a single response from any of them.
I am sure that they have some actual members - other suckers, like me - but I am convinced that the vast majority of the activity on the site is a clumsy, amateurish, bait-and-switch scam that lures gullible people with fake pictures and profiles. This company needs to be thoroughly investigated by law enforcement. I strongly recommend that you avoid this dating service like the plague. Trusting these people with your personal information and credit card data now feels like a foolish and reckless idea. I hope this is helpful to someone.

This company uses deceptive and unethical tactics and should be investigated by the relevant government agency. I've had three accounts, and in each case, I almost instantly received messages. But in order to read and reply to the messages, a purchased subscription is necessary. I purchased subscriptions for two of these accounts, replied to the women who had messaged me, but never heard back from them. Moreover, they all used catchy, one line sentences in their messages, which suggest they are computer generated. Another red flag is that none of the other women I have messaged in general have replied back to me. It is clear these are fake profiles.
I read numerous negative reviews the other day about this company, and others reported the same kind of problems. Corroborating evidence for my case against this company would be the fact that I saw a photo of an attractive blonde woman in a profile in Northern California, but saw the exact same photo in another profile in North Eastern Texas. It is clear to me that someone is mass producing these photos and fake profiles. Lastly, many women have photos of them on the beach, even though they live inland and in desert areas, where there are no beaches. It is clear that this website is scamming people. They also don't give refunds. Due to the trouble I experienced with one of my accounts, the company gave me an extra free month, but a few days later, it was removed, and no reason was given. I hope this site gets investigated for its unethical procedures.

I am embarrassed to have ever gotten involved with this company. Today, second try to cancel, plus attempts online, they tell me: "I can't give out my name. I don't have an operator ID." OK---"my name is WIL. I can't get a supervisor. We can't refund your money." OK---"we can refund a little.." OK---how about a little more.. Stay after them and complain. They don't provide receipts, or emails, or account updates.
Keep a careful eye on credit card statements because they will double charge you. They refuse to provide any copy of an agreement. They stall and say a supervisor is unavailable. They don't post their telephone number for service. They bank on your embarrassment of not catching the scam sooner and break charges into small amounts and avoid sending receipts to stay below detection on your complex long credit card statement. BEWARE!!!

Also, once you have subscribed and paid, they ask you for another monthly fee in order to let other people respond to you- trap. Of course I do, so I paid the extra fee. Figured he would be asking me for money to get home so I cut it off. A friend of mine told me that Zoosk was the best dating site and that he used it and saw tons of good looking women on it. My dumb ** listened to him and joined. 90% of all the female profiles with pictures are fake. To make things even worse, Zoosk sends you notifications and emails constantly telling you that you've received a like or a carousel match, you go to the site, and it's complete BS. No one has liked you! Either that or their account got banned for being fake? Who knows? All I know is that it is a huge waste of time and money. The money part isn't really that big of a deal. The waste of time and the fact that there are SO MANY fake profiles on there is what upsets me the most.
Zoosk obviously puts up fake profiles of good looking women to sucker people into joining as well as them sending you notifications before you are a member that keep telling you someone wants to chat or meet you, then once you subscribe, you have nothing in your inbox and no matches! I hope this site gets sued for their misleading and totally false advertising tactics! Same thing with Match.com. Total waste of time and money. I haven't tried eHarmony but after being shammed 2 out of 2 times, I'm done with online dating. I wish there was a better way for a 44 year old, self-employed, single man who works 7 days a week to meet single women. Add to the fact that I've never been married and have no kids and am looking to meet a woman in the same boat, I think my chances are about as hopeless as these dating sites.

I had been a paid member of your dating website. Within a week's time I met a guy, good looking, personable, we had some things in common. Talked on your site for a week and exchanged email address. According to his profile page, he lived 10 miles from me. Turns out he was a scammer. Luckily I saved all my correspondence from him, about 5 in total. There were two rather long emails detailing who he was, etc. I have filed a report with the FBI, I contacted you and got a "pat" response. He told me he had removed his profile. I sincerely doubt that he did. I am a widow and he preyed upon my desire to find "love" again. He will do it again until he gets the desired result. I responded to one of these and the next day I got another message from an even more attractive “widower”. (And these men had “advance degrees”, worked in high tech, etc). One today appeared to be trying to chat with me, but Every time I tried to chat or even see if he read my message I was automatically channeled to their store to upgrade. You are in the assumption that you will be able to have the opportunity to connect with people for a ending result called an online date. Well this becomes the problem. Before you can remotely connect Zoosk will ask for additional service money. For instance to chat is more money. How is it not being allowed to chat can you possibly date. It’s an online dating. You go on them to connect through chatting. To get more noticed is recommended because Zoosk.com controls everything including the amount of exposure. Wow and how can you verify what they do you? You can’t. All they are doing is preying on your needs for a date. They hide the amount needed to actually get a online date. It’s sad and terrible how much it’s really going to cost and still they have the audacity to give you a monthly rate that misleads you to believe online dating is in fact their so called monthly rate.
Once again how can you have an online date with only a monthly subscription. They better call it what it is. A fee just to allow you on their site and good luck with that you poor vulnerable people wanting to get an online date prepare your wallets. Call so I can join in the class action suit. Less than two hours of a monthly subscription that doesn’t get you a date by lacking a possible contact controlled by same people charging you for the subscription. It behooves them to do so. They have hidden service fees such as for more exposure. Wow. Really. I kept saying no to certain people and they kept popping back in my list, then as soon as I called Zoosk to complain I wanted a refund, I suddenly received 4 messages from men telling me a bogus story about their profile will be done in a few days and "my uncle saw your photo and is very interested in you, please call him at this number" blah blah blah...
When I called for a refund the man said, "Ok, we can do this, but you have to go to iTunes," and I said that's not how it works. You have to initiate the refund. Zoosk, how do we label it. Internet Fraud, Scam, Bait and Switch, or maybe all of the above. In less than 30 days on a 3 month paid subscription with Zoosk my account was cancelled, by Zoosk, citing their reasoning was a security problem. Bogus. Anyone having been living within the last 3 decades knows that the internet has always had security problems but to punish a paying client for a website's own IT failures/shortcomings has no merit. In addition, it was very obvious that Zoosk was/is planting into their database non-existent members. Reviews by others on this forum has also confirmed this.
After cancelling you they offer a chance to re-scribe, of course with payment. This is classic Bait and Switch. So what do we do about Zoosk? The word Zoosk maybe should be made synonymous with words such as Toxic, Avoid, Beware, and of course the most accurate SCAM. Other solutions maybe class action. 2) The search engine wasn't useful at all. I entered my criteria, but all that worked was distance and age. The max distance you could select was 100 miles. However, they continually sent matches of over 100 miles.
3) The straw that broke the camel's back was, I received an email someone wanted to meet me. I clicked on her profile, and then everything was gone. I knew her signing name, but Zoosk site does not have this feature. My thought is why does a dating side not allow the users to search by a user name? But it doesn't.
4) I did see someone I wanted to meet, you couldn't include your phone number of email address! I guess they want more money before this could happen. Again, it is a dating site. Why restrict me giving out my email address or my phone.
Bottom line, do not waste your time or your money!

He then sent me a screenshot of my photo on a cell phone. His response was simply, “I can’t do this to you”. I immediately blocked the number, knowing that this impersonator was also going to obtain personal and private information. I finally got through to a supervisor at Zoosk who financially compensated me. Unfortunately, however, my personal information is now in the hands of some nefarious people. This happened to me twice in four months.
I have been on other dating websites and never had this happen. A few suggestions: don’t autosave your password (although this was not an option on Zoosk, don’t send anyone your picture, and don’t verify your cell or Facebook account. Change your password regularly and be careful of what personal information you share, for example your pet’s name if you use that as a password. I do not recommend Zoosk. It will take them a while to fix the many holes and software issues they have.

They have this misleading video where they "Supposedly" tell you how to cancel your account through iTune; so you follow each step: you go to settings, Apple ID, subscriptions, go to their app...And then They tell you" scroll down to "Cancel subscription"...The only problem is that "Cancel subscription" does not show at the bottom and no matter how many times you try it will not, will not, will not let you cancel it. I am going to make it my mission to expose their scam on social media. I am going to make it cost them hundreds and hundreds of potential (innocent) customers and I will contact government agencies that protect us from scammers like Zoosk! Do not join! Do not join! First I joined a couple of years ago for 3 months. I met some nice people away but only a few local. I didn't renew when I met a guy through and friend and started dating him. I don't go out often so decided to try it again, this time 6 months. The first thing I noticed was the some of the same people still there. I changed the age range of men but still got older men messaging me.
I seen a friend of mine on it that was there before he passed away but that was two years ago. So they obviously still use your profile whether you're there or not. My ex-boyfriend was there whom Im still friends. I messaged him and said jokingly you're on Zoosk and he said no only Match. So I think both sites are associated somehow because I searched Match and sure enough a lot of the same profiles, unless these guys are on both. Speaking which I am only interested in men but I got woman as well. In conclusion this rated one of the top ten... I will never entertain these sites again.

As many other reviews, after seeing many views and messages I couldn't read notifications, I decided to subscribe. When I tried to pay, my card was declined and my bank texted me my card was blocked. When I called the bank, I was told the website tried to make 12 payments for various amounts between £15 and £60 off my account, which led the bank believe it's fraud. Fortunately, they have stopped all the payments & unfortunately, I need a new card. Well, OK, better than losing £350.
I submitted customer support request, asking for explanation. I got 'personal human being written' answer within 10 minutes - obviously auto-generated and asking me to try again, stating I probably mistyped card details. I submitted another request, asking for decent answer for my question... That one was never answered. I don't know if the profiles and messages were real or not, unlike other reviewers my search actually found quite many people in my area... But I don't know if those would disappear as per other people experience after the subscription. Anyway, I had subscription more than year ago on Match.com and didn't have any payment problems. Thus immediate fraud attempt is alarming and I recommend to stay away from the site.

If the people were real, I couldn't say. But then a notice popped up, telling me to verify my telephone number. I tried and every time I did, another notice popped up, informing me an error occurred and I must try later. I tried many times. Then I tried on one or other website for Zoosk Complaints and reported it at least 5 times. No result. Then I canceled my subscription and give them the reason. Still no response. So, curiosity got the best of me (wish I'd found this site first) and I signed up for 1 month. I soon saw that all the messages said a variation of the same thing: "I don't respond to winks, please send a message," which I did. No responses from any of them. It finally occurred to me that I didn't get responses because these are fake accounts to begin with! They're created by Zoosk to dupe unwitting people into paying to be jerked around. It’s a complete scam. Went on site and created a free account to look around. Spent a day looking through the profiles and found some women I was attracted to. I sent ❤️ to a few but nothing back, not even a view of my profile. I did receive some views from other females but none that interested me. It’s funny because after I sent the heart, the site encouraged me to send a message which you need to then pay to send messages. Day two I decided to pay for one month and write to the females that I was interested in and were close to me. After paying for the month, I immediately went to find the females to write and NOT ONE profile could be found. I search with specific age, race, etc., and still none of the profiles were there yet other, unattractive female profiles were there.
So...I created another account under another email and did a side by side search using my iPad and iPhone. One profile that had paid subscription revealed none of the women I liked, while the unpaid account search found every woman that I found attractive and wanted to write. It’s a total bait and switch. FYI...I was not looking for model type women as some that I liked were like a normal, pretty woman. I’m gonna try again the side by side search and see what happens. If the results are the same then I will pursue getting a refund. If I have to take this to a News media to expose them...I will. Wish I would have read this forum before paying for a subscription!!!

Well, more of the same complaint. As I'm writing this on 1 screenwriting this complaint, and I'm on Zoosk on the other just watching the algorithm of non-sense that they spew. Here's my story. Well, I started as a non-paying customer but had a profile up just to look around and see who would actually want to meet me. I would also send out smiley faces even though I knew I couldn't see if they received them. So on 1 occasion someone replied back, and that's where they got me. I signed up for the 6 months for 74.99 just so I could see the reply and possibly start a conversation.
Well, the reply was "as smiley faces are great, please send a message if you are really interested in meeting." So I did, and wouldn't you know it, none a peep back. So I chalked it up to possible cold feet, change of heart, etc... It happens. But what's solidifying my accusation is that I say hello to people that are actually online and respond immediately and still now reply back. This is happening as I'm writing this complaint. Please stay away from Zoosk. Total scam. Good luck!

From my current experience, as a paying member who is leaving the site, Zoosk does not let you hide or delete your profile. Furthermore Zoosk rejects my attempts to say in my profile that I will not be on the site after my paid time expires. They are vastly overstating the number of people on the site and active number. I got a message from a lady recently who I had contacted a few times saying, "What's up..." and when I replied to her she said that she didn't send that message. Zoosk also will notify you that you have "messages" when there is no message. Only someone liking you in their section called Carousel which only shows you a picture of a person, with no information, such as where they live! That is of vital importance to most people who are looking to date.

I was in Zoosk for couple months and usually do not go to anyone's profile unless someone sends me a message and shows interest. But few of the guys contacted me telling me that I keep viewing their profile many times a day but never speak to them. As a woman I never make the first move and never volunteer to speak to guys unless they talk to me. During these months I also noticed that many of the guys view my profile multiple times a day but never talked to me. So I called Zoosk and mentioned what these guys told me. The representative confirmed that when subscribers see someone’s picture on the screen or even when they scroll through the pictures, it shows to the other side as “Viewed your profile”. I find this very disturbing because it sends wrong message and gives wrong impression to people.
I find it irritating when I see someone viewing me many times per day but never talk to me. However, the subscribers have no idea that this happens and think that people really go into their profile and check them out. Another disturbing thing is that, Zoosk sends a notification to the other party if you open to read the message without the knowledge of the other party. So it is set up in a way that things happen without subscribers knowledge to keep them interested and keep the subscription longer. It might be good for people who are looking for short term relationship but it’s definitely a game for people who trust the dating site and look for longer and serious relationship. It’s a trap to suck people’s money out. I am very unhappy and mad with the way they manipulate people and play dirty tricks.

Any site involved in business of this nature, is going to attract scammers, fake profiles etc. Unfortunately, it goes with the territory, and the "shopper" needs to be aware of this going in. The site is not very intuitive. The photos that I tried to post were of me and taken by me. I made no attempts to obscure me at all, but they were frequently rejected. Meanwhile, profiles of women on there have close in pictures showing only an eye or a nose or part of the face. They charge a metric f-ton of money for very basic services, to even get the features that would make the site almost usable they want an additional tier of expenses. So let's say basic access with the ability to contact people is 80 dollars for 6 months, to get notifications of msg received and so on, is 2x that amount. That is not even the highest tier of functionality, it gets more expensive. Rip-off much?
Views of my profile were shown but any attempts to contact people never resulted in even a reply. The views are likely an automated function of the site. This is a common tactic in the dating site business that can extend to even sending fake automated messages. Since I didn't even receive one single message I have to assume they haven't resorted to that level fraud yet. Way back when online dating was viewed as sketchy or even dangerous, it was the persons participating in it that people had to be wary of. These days it's also the sites that claim to provide these services that a person should be wary of. No matter what you try, it seems like a lose-lose proposition to me. There is absolutely nothing out there to hold these so-called dating sites accountable. They hide behind multiple multinational LLC's with anonymous board members.

The amount of users especially locally based is next to nonexistent - in less than a day you will have started seeing the same old nonmatches 2 - 3x over. If you want to waste $12 or more per month with the hopes of not even finding someone compatible enough for a coffee date - enjoy. I can't really prove this, but I'm pretty sure a significant amount of the accounts on Zoosk are fake, created to make it look like there are more people online. I constantly got messages saying "this user wants to chat with you", and I'd send a message saying hello, and not ever receive a response. I could see a few times of this being just someone who accidentally clicked on my chat box or something, but it happened CONSTANTLY. It was always these accounts with no details filled in, and many of them are named "A Zoosk User". They all have the same name format too. "BeautifullySassy", "WonderfullyBeautiful", etc. It's like they couldn't even be bothered to put more than 10-15 words in their random name generators for these fake accounts.
When you get down to the ACTUAL people who are on there, you have two categories. 1) Women who do not respond. 2) Women I did not want to respond to. This may be more of a commentary on me personally, but there is no "middle ground". I would say this site is an outright fraud for doing this. They don't let you send messages with a free account, so you can't really see how bad it is until you pay. What you see with a free account is a surprisingly high number of attractive members you might be interested in. I started sending messages just saying "Hey, can you just respond if you receive this? I would just like to know if anyone is reading my messages". No responses. In a real scenario, I'd expect at least a small number of people would respond at say "not interested" at least, but not here.
There are also a ton of bots have photos with text numbers which are obviously either escort services, or paid sexting services. I would say out of 1,000 messages, I got less than 10 responses. 5 of those were from real people, 2 turned into phone conversations, and none of them went anywhere. My profile was completely filled out with current pictures, and my messages were always polite and upbeat. I just think this site is nothing but a sham.

I continue to receive views and messages but every time no messages back. Then I decided to stop my subscription and lo an behold, more messages and alerts about above average looking woman wanting to meet me.
The picture I received in the email was a beautiful blonde (like a 9/10) wanting to meet me, so I clicked on "Yes" to meet; which took me to the Zoosk website and to my amazement, the profile was another woman that kinda looked like the one in the email but she was a dark brunette. You can't even do a decent job at misleading people.
Folks, this is the strategy behind all of these online dating apps. They have programmers on the backend pushing fake likes and messages to new people so they can buy a membership. Once paid, they run a simple program to periodically shoot messages to you so it looks like you're active, then when you cancel, the programmers shoot more messages to you promising fantastic matches but in reality it's just fake profiles or redirection to real profiles which does not even match anything yours looking for (bait and switch). Don't believe all those Google reviews who said Zoosk is 9.9 rated, the reviews are funded by these dating website to make it look like they are popular and legit.

I requested a reimbursement explaining I did not want to continue the account - did not receive a notification that the account was nearing its end. I got charged another 3 month subscription regardless. The company refused to reimburse me. There needs to be a notification system that the subscription is nearing its end. It's just plain wrong. It's a poorly set up service to start with. I gave it 6 months but was unhappy with the whole program.

I tried to contact Zoosk to tell them that something is not right and could not find a way to contact Zoosk with a question. They had ready made questions, but none that fit my question, so I could not get a response. Something is not right, but no way I can find to fix it.

I have used other online dating sites such as Match.com and eHarmony in the past. They both have good customer service in my opinion. I heard about Zoosk via email. What an absolutely horrible experience from an organizational and customer service perspective. It’s generous even giving Zoosk one star out of five. Buyers beware. They are a nightmare to deal with. I purchased a 6-month subscription around mid 2018. Just before my expiry in December 2018, Zoosk sent me an email offering me 25% if I renew. Along with the email, and just after my subscription expired, I also received notifications that people on Zoosk had sent me messages. So I bit and renewed again. Only to discover that I was charged the full amount for 6-months and the messages from these so called “people” appeared computer-generated?
So I attempted to contact Zoosk on both the non-discounted price and the assumingly fake profiles out there. They informed me that I needed to pay by credit card (which I did via PayPal) and gave no answer to the seemingly “computer-generated” email messages received from potentially fake profiles. I then contacted PayPal to at least recover the 25% off ($19) --- which they did. About a week later, Zoosk emails me informing me that my subscription was cancelled, yet I paid for 6-months? So I called them. Zero help and wouldn’t even allow me to speak to a supervisor.
Exact words from the customer service agent were: “I spoke to them and they do not want to speak to you. Your account has been blocked as it is our company policy to close an account when a dispute is raised via a 3rd party.” I then inquired that when I get my full refund via PayPal (for obvious reasons), what would stop me from re-joining Zoosk (just to see what he would say)? To which the agent responded, “Sir, you have every right to attempt to re-join, but there is no guarantee that our system will not pick it up and block you.” I’ll end by saying I simply wanted to be treated like a customer who has genuine concerns and honest questions. Why they chose to skate around the “real truth” and force me to gain mediation via PayPal is mind-boggling? Save your money folks and happy searching.

The site is offering the basic package of $60. Every small thing require purchasing coins on top of it. If you want to check hidden it’s another subscription, unlimited messages another subscription but the main money machine is the coins. They charge $1000 for 1800 coins and they charge for boost 250 coins. After one day of subscription I purchased 1800 points for $100. I pressed on boost and some strange small window opened with numbers running which is not anywhere in their help manuals. I pressed few times to get out and apparently I just activated more and more boost and finished in 10 minutes the $100 coins.
The customer service offered me 200 coins and refused to take the blame on malfunctioned software which allows to press endless times on the same boost. Even the fact I paid in my first day $170 didn’t help to convince them to be nice and refund the coins. This is a disgusting behavior of a site that doesn’t care about nothing except making money. I was a customer for one day. Used the service and because of a software bug wasted $100 in 10 minutes and they refuse to compensate you.
You can learn a lot about them from the answering machine. When you call it will always start from your place on line is 5 and then instead of going lower it goes higher. After a minute it’s 8 and after another minute it’s 10. After 30 seconds they answer. Where are all the 10 8 calls before you? Did they finish in 30 seconds? SCAM.

After four months on Zoosk, I have been approached by so many scam artists that I have lost count. Yesterday, I was contacted by four more of them.
How do I know that they are fake? When someone presents himself as a professional man who lives nearby but who writes in broken English and who has no knowledge of our local area, that's a fake. When someone chats me up and then persistently pressures me for personal information such as my mother's maiden name, that's a fake. When someone immediately pressures me to leave the site so that we can "focus on each other" or tries to lure me off the site with other promises - that "man" is fake.
When someone engages in a lengthy email exchange but who suddenly and or repeatedly postpones a face to face meeting due to his business, that man is suspect. When that same man soon contacts me for money, that man is fake. With one exception to date, the only Zoosk "men" who have sustained contact with me have been "fakes" who solicit funds or facts which would enable them to steal my identity. Like many people said here, I also believe that Zoosk with their website/application is a scheme to some point. I have a computer and two mobile devices. I have installed the Zoosk application on my two mobile devices. Of course, I had only one account and one profile. I bought a paid subscription for one month to check the site, before paying for a longer period of time. At first, I was surprised by the number of people who were visiting me in Views, and the number of people in the Carousel and the candidates in my Search!
I started to find strange when I was sending a Smile or a Heart or a Message to more than 36 people (to some that I visited and some that apparently visited me), and I never received a single reply from them. I am relatively good looking with a nice picture and a big smile, and what I wrote in my profile and my ideal match was very positive, so I did not understand. I discovered that some members were viewing my profile many times a day. I was ignoring them because I was not interested, so I was not encouraging them by viewing back their profiles. Despite their multiple views of my profile, nobody was sending me a Message (positive or negative), a Smile or a Heart; there was no feedback at all.
I also discovered that on top of my paid subscription, I had to pay an extra charge for the Premium Messaging to allow the recipients of my messages to reply to me. So, without the additional subscription, I could send messages to members, but the recipients could not reply to me if they do not have a premium messaging subscription themselves. A dating site with a paid subscription, but if you want to send and receive messages, you have to pay more for it? This is ridiculous and it is a hidden cost. Communication should be included in the member’s subscription (even if you charge more for it) and not a trick (not known by most members when they start using your site) to make more money in a twisted way.
I became extremely suspicious when I got a View of myself. It was like if it was a different member visiting me, several times a day, and at times when I was not even using my devices at all. If a member is visiting me like 6 times a day, I would think that he is obsessed with me and I could ask blocking him, but my profile (with my own data) visiting me few times a day was not an accident. Somebody else (like Zoosk itself) was doing this, not me or another member. Oh, something else, I received a Crush from me to me! Each time I was viewing my picture (with my own data), I was removing it immediately from the Views. This view was obviously fabricated, not by another member but from Zoosk. Therefore, I concluded that many of my recurring visitors were not real either, they were also fabricated.
Then, I discovered that I had different viewing results from the Zoosk application on my mobile devices, and the browser on my computer and the browser on my mobile devices. It was like I had several accounts of myself and people were visiting me as if I was different members. Some members were visiting me on my mobile devices, but it was not shown in a browser. I had only one account, so why I had different results on my devices? My Search on a browser was not providing the same results than on the application, using exactly the same filter. I don’t understand.
As a suggestion, I wish that the website navigation, page structure, settings, and features were much more similar between the website and the application. Like many people reported here, there are so many fake, inactive and dead profiles that Zoosk continues to exploit voluntarily with the fabrication of Views. So, you don’t know what is real and what is not. In fact, I believe that there is a much higher percentage of unreal accounts than the real ones. Zoosk can claim that they have 40 million members all over the world, but they don’t say how many of them are “alive”.
Zoosk uses this strategy just to keep the customers hopeful that at least a few of the visitors would communicate with them and therefore, confident that they will finally find the person of their life. It seems that money and profits are much more important to Zoosk than honesty, quality, and transparency. If they were honest, they would take the time and resources to clean up their database of members and stop misleading their customers. In fact, I am not even sure if it is legal. It is something to explore.
As a customer, I would prefer to have only 2 or 3 “real” Views per day, or in my Search and in the Carousel, rather than 20 or 30 that are probably fake, and which I have no way to verify if they are real or not. Zoosk should stop the gimmick of fabricating false Views, false Crush and the rest. Their Search and Carousel should show real members, and the same with SmartPick.
Cleaning their database would require an effort, but it would be relatively easy to do by looking at their billing and find who is currently paying for a subscription. For the people who don’t have a subscription (free account), Zoosk could check automatically and regularly if these accounts have been active during the last 1 or 2 months. If an account has not been active for a certain period of time, their account will not only be canceled but also deleted from their database. Warning e-mails should be sent to the inactive owner prior to the deletion of their account. All of that could be done with the servers, not requiring human resources. The pricing of the features/options should be much more simple, structured and comprehensible on a single source (page) on the site, not hidden or scattered on multiple places. That would show transparency and honesty.
But Zoosk won’t probably do that because, from a marketing point of view, they would have to admit that they don’t have 40 million members as they claim, but only have a portion of these members that are real. I would not be surprised that Zoosk is worried that in revealing this fact, they would lose their rank in the list of most popular dating sites, and therefore lose business.
In fact, if Zoosk was clever and think “business strategy and marketing”, the clean-up of accounts and the steps taken to increase the quality of their services and confidence of their customers could be a great marketing achievement, to show that Zoosk is more customer-centric, oriented to quality of service, more transparent and more honest than the competition. If Zoosk was doing that, the competition would be forced to do the same, and the ranking would probably stay the same. But it would also show that Zoosk is the leader in this market. I am wondering if all the current practices are legal.

It was when I challenged one member to finally decide after this member had viewed my profile on numerous occasions, and the putting to the member that Zoosk is pulling the strings did I never hear any more from this member.
It is very deceitful what is going on here as well as being off-putting to those who genuinely seek their lifetime soulmate. It is not a game playing with people's feelings. It is very disturbing, to say the least at what is going on here and I now realize that I wasted my money when I could have gone to a more reputable dating site. I am heartbroken. And these people carry no shame at what they have done to people like me. It is time these people were brought to account. How much longer must this go on?

This site is a big scam just like Match.com. I was a paid member on both sites, unfortunately. They both do the same thing, profile views people wanting to meet you and Fake messages to get you to join and become a paid member. Once you join them nothing. Your messages disappear and nothing after that. I've never really had a problem with one of the free sites. After deleting my account all of a sudden out of the blue there's more messages waiting for me. This site absolutely sucks and somebody needs to shut them down, both of these sites. Match is just as bad.

Much like most of the complaints I have read here, I unfortunately am no different and just as much as a sucker as everyone else. I joined because I had no luck on any free site and thought maybe a paid site would field better results... they are actually worse. I have gotten multiple profile views and not wanting to come off too strong I would send “smiley” face emoji’s back, I’m averaging about 50 views a day. At last count I got about 17’ish or so from a women’s account I never looked at, a few I did and a lot more that were hundreds miles away.
My experience is a little different because I think I have figured out their current scam, I have received a number of messages... paid for 1 month... when I viewed the message from women they all almost said the same generic “send me a message” inside the actual message itself. Thinking something was odd about that I responded back to confirm something was off, a day or two would go by and no response. HOWEVER!... the same women that would send me these messages would view my profile but not respond to the message itself. The point is I personally never send any messages to anyone, they were all sent to me.
I caught on fast, cancelled automatic renew and removed all my banking info off of Apple Store so that I don’t get any “surprise” charges next month. The really sad part is I’m only at day 2 of 30 and figured it out fast. I really wish some on these women were actually real, however based on the prior complaints I highly doubt that. I will never recommend Zoosk to anyone and will share my story to everyone so that they don’t lose the $31.79 (tax included) on a scam that’s aimed to make you think there is someone out there for you.

While you are a free user you get constant messages telling you that someone likes you or has messaged you that you have to pay to find out who it is or read the message. On the messages notification the number keeps climbing due to the amount of people supposedly interested in you. So one day you decide to pay for the site and instantly those messages vanish from existence. I had 13 messages waiting for me and while I paid they all vanished because they didn't exist.
All the members I was interested in likewise vanished from search because they don't actually exist either. I set up a free account at the same time with a different email address and those members are there in the free account still just not for the paid account. They are fake profiles with words that match your own interest to get you to pay for this site. 99% of the profiles on the site are not complete and have nothing filled out with 1 picture at most. The majority have not been online for months. The SmartPick feature is useless as is search and everything else. I have the same 2 or 3 people supposedly viewing my profile 40-50 times a day which clearly is a lie unless they are some type of stalkers. Do not waste your money on Zoosk. Donate it to a charity or something else if you want to get rid of money.

I called customer service and they said that the picture could only be of the person nothing else but in the picture. I asked for a manager. There was not one available. I ask for a refund. They could not provide that either since I purchase through iTunes!
What a joke this site is. You will never meet anyone in here. You will just be paying for hot air!!! Do not do it!!! It’s terrible!!! They are ripping people off. If you try to post something on their site it will not allow you to! That should be the first warning. You cannot speak with a manager. They are not available and customer service is a joke! Zoosk like all other dating sites is chasing users away. They inflate viewing someone's profile to serious attraction and other lies to trick you into becoming a member. When I canceled my membership, I suddenly got several messages from guys wanting to connect. I won't fall for that one again. The reason people don't respond to messages is because they don't know if it's real or the site's marketing team.

Interesting way that the company makes their money. #1 they don't want you to meet anyone so that you'll leave the site. How do they do that? The beautiful, quality people live 100's to 1000's of miles away. The very few that are in your immediate area that you could actually go on a date with could fill a cattle truck, they are so unappealing. I mean who would put a picture of themselves asleep in a recliner, with their mouth hanging open, as their profile picture.
I logged in once and it said my profile had been blocked by an administrator. I asked why that was and they said if I wanted to know, I could contact their legal department. The only way to get back on again was to supply a new email address and a new credit card. When I got back on again, I was immediately contacted by two very beautiful people wanting to know more about me. I answered them and there was no further contact from them. (They didn't really exist. They were fake profiles meant to manipulate people to think that there are really beautiful people out there that are interested in you).
One last thing, you can buy coins. The coins allow you to see if someone has read your last message. What they don't tell you is the coins keep being refilled when they drop to a certain level and you're not made aware of it until you lay eyes on your credit card statement and see how many charges there are for refills of coins at $19.95 per refill. If you're thinking of joining this site to meet someone, I suggest you take the money you're planning to spend on your membership and throw it out the window of a moving vehicle and then have your best friend hit you in the head with a hammer. It will hurt less than being on this site and trying to meet someone.

A Zoosk feature is "carousel," where members allegedly announce they want to meet you. It costs "coins" (may be earned, but mostly seem to be sold to already-paid members) to make or respond to a carousel selection. The announcement is moderated; you get a notice that "(name) wants to meet you! Is the feeling mutual?" But these notices are curious. 28 people have selected to meet me over a couple of months. Exactly three times. In exactly the same order each time. With no other members selecting/contacting me. And no one I said, "Yes," to contacted me further. The same 28, exclusively, in the same order, three times. And no follow up. What conclusion would you draw?

To be very brief, I joined Zoosk about a month ago. I think it's a joke. I've responded to multiple profiles, e.g. "I like you, you like me, let's meet". It never goes any further...no meetings. Same profiles no matter how you customize your search. Terrible for middle age group. The majority of profiles that show up for me look like my grandmother. Never again!
Updated on 08/13/2018: After receiving 0 responses from profiles, even after they said they were interested in me, I called Zoosk to complain and they gave me messaging for free. All of a sudden I received messages that so and so was online and wanted to chat. I did chat with a few people, really not knowing if they were who they said they were. Well, two were not. One gave me a phone number to text her. Instead, I called and no answer and when I told “her” she kept saying “text me” and I knew something was up. Another profile listed at 33 years old (I’m 65) sent me the option to chat. Her profile said she lived in CO, where I do. I thought I would play along and asked where she was and I was told New York.
After a couple of texts I knew it was a fake profile. Here comes the clincher... I chatted with a couple of women who appeared to be local and after asking them if they wanted to meet locally at a public place, they didn’t respond. All of a sudden I started getting “Wants to chat” messages every second from profiles saying they were in Florida, which I thought was weird. Every one had a message already in there appearing to come from me with my profile picture attached to the message... the same message on every single profile.
I knew that my profile was hacked! I sent an email to the support dept at corporate and demanded a full refund. The response was that I wouldn’t be charged anymore beyond my subscription. I put in a charge dispute claim with my bank, closed my credit card and kept all emails from Zoosk, the last one saying they would refund me, without giving a dollar figure. STAY AWAY FROM ZOOSK!

I decided to take one more stab at online dating since “experts” say it is a great way to meet people. I did Match.com a couple of years ago and didn’t like it, but decided to give Zoosk a try because it was rated as one of the best. I signed up for the 6 month membership to really give it a chance. I’m not a model, but definitely attractive and a good catch. In the first 3 months, I’ve met two men in person for coffee. One talked an hour and a half about his ex-wife and was living for free in a friend’s RV. The other talked the first 10 minutes about his health problems. Neither asked me much about myself. It was pretty dismal.
Most men contacting me immediately want to email or text outside the site which defeats the privacy and safety features I want to preserve. One was looking for a new girlfriend after his one of 6 years found a serious relationship and he didn’t want to interfere. The catch was his wife doesn’t want sex with him and encourages him to look elsewhere; would I be his new “friend”? The last guy I sent about 3 messages back and forth told me my volunteering was “typical old lady stuff”. Lol, I’ve found this site full of losers, trollers, and scammers.
I’ve already canceled my subscription, but that was a challenge because it has to be done through iTunes (Googled the directions because it was difficult to find how to get it canceled). I did that when I got a message from a guy thanking me for the message I sent him...but since I never sent him one and he wasn’t someone I would, that made me feel Zoosk is not legit. It seems random messages are sent to and from you just to keep you interested in the site. I will not be doing the online thing again. Not worth my time.

I really don't know where to start with this 30 dollar waste! From the price to the computer generated views that never happen by the actual person to the search selection (that is completely useless) and the quality of men. Okay, I get it! When Tinder came to be, it gave the green light for men (and women) to just look for hookups. Problem is they brought their behavior to other sites. Paid sites, free sites, any and all sites. So if you are a single woman today and you are looking to meet someone to get to know Zoosk is NOT the place. Yes, you can fill out the lengthy questioner as to what you are looking for in a prospective mate. HOWEVER, that means absolutely nothing! Not even on a SAVED search! So you spend most of your time blocking (not interested) because Zoosk just randomly sends views to your profile. And if someone actually does view you, Zoosk just keeps sending views by the person who really only views you once!
How do I know this to be true, because I emailed a guy and asked him, “Are you shy?” And, “How many times did you view me.” Response 1 time! But yet it showed him viewing me at least 10 20 per day. I had to block him (which really was not him) but Zoosk! And then there are the men who ask for more photos of you... Why? Because 5 is just not enough! You need a photo album? This man just assumed that I wanted him or was desperate enough to send him more photos! So just save yourself some money, go to the other crappy sites that are free and have the same effect. POF and Badoo in the long run, you will have saved money and maybe a little bit of your sanity. Happy hunting.

They CLOSED my account without replying to my email. I called Zoosk and they said I would have to create a new account under a different email but any communication I had was lost. A male friend was contacted by a different scammer on Zoosk a few months ago so this is not an isolated incident. I'm sure they'd have found him if he owed them money. Had to insist on escalating this. He was finally taken off the site, but... in 5 days he was back on! And, you know, it costs 28$ a month to as many background checks as needed. Why can't a multi-million dollar business not only not be able to find someone who could be a danger to its customers, but find it too much to spend pennies to do what's right? Almost all of the sites are like this, so - women AND men - do your due diligence unless with one of the few sites that actually take that one important step to have an ethical business.

The computer generated responses were based on my activity being monitored to see who I've attempted to contact. The amount of views again and again by the same people is unreal.
Took part in 'carousel' to help determine my 'type' a few times, kept getting basically same types to reject. Got bombarded with 'views' and 'matches' who were totally opposite to my search and filter criteria, advanced education, no smoking, or they resided 100+ miles away. Kept receiving the same pics/matches that I showed no interest in, over and over. Zoosk seemed to match me with profiles of females I would NOT date. Sent messages to persons that “viewed” my profile I was interested in, they never responded. As as a full account member you shouldn't have to pay extra 'coins' for additional privileges to see if response were even received. A waste of time and money. I chose this based on Google's rating of #1. Where did this rating come from? Definitely would not recommend it to anyone. Four days of fruitless and worthless results. I regret it.

I first would like to cite that my only reason for rating my experience as only one star is because I can't give it a zero. Were it possible, in fact, Zoosk would be getting a negative five stars after the experience I have had. After being single for nearly five years after the girlfriend I'd been with began dating another man (leaving me empty-handed), I decided it was finally time to move on and restart my love life. My first choice would have been to sign up with a professional introduction service, since my past experiences with online dating have hardly been gainful ones, but the admission cost was not within parameters of my personal budget at the time. Options were limited however, since I work in a male-dominated profession, have very limited social life, and am not churchgoing (nor do I want to be).
Needless to say, when it came to finding love once again, online dating was about the only available avenue at my disposal. Reviews of Zoosk I had read online rated it a cut or two above others of its caliber, mainly on grounds of its superior ease of usage. My mother, who habitually accuses me of never taking anyone's suggestions, suggested I give Zoosk a trial. So, in an earnest attempt to be more flexible than I'm credited with being, and attempting to adhere to an occasional suggestion, I purchased a six-month membership. Within the first week of using Zoosk, I found myself regretting my decision. After browsing numerous profiles of local singles, many of whom would have been perfectly compatible with me based on profile information, I sent out several messages in an attempt to initiate conversation. Number of replies: Zero.
This process repeated itself throughout the subsequent weeks and months. Again, not one single response, save for one who replied to say I lived too great a distance from her for a relationship. I did, however, receive a few messages from members who engaged me in an effort to initiate contact. What can be said about them? Now, this is coming from someone who is not overly picky about physical attraction by any means, and these women (a term I'm using advisingly) were what I can only describe as being the most hideous-looking things running around on two legs. It's not entirely necessary that I be matched with a pageant bombshell, but when I can't discern their gender based on appearance, that's a problem. That I, a college-educated, decently attractive, good-natured 33-year-old guy with a full-time job, a solid career, and even my own house can't catch a single break in this department is inconceivable.
And by the way, I have a warning for those of you that may be considering Zoosk: the $60 membership fee is only the cost of admission. Using any "features" offered means you'll be dishing out several more dollars. They even charge you extra to see if members you've messaged have received or read your messages to them, I kid you not. As if the bitter note my last relationship ended on wasn't embittering or frustrating enough, now I'm being gypped out of my hard-earned money for merely making an earnest effort to put the adverse memories behind me and start anew. Meanwhile, my ex and her new lover are happy as two birds in a tree while I'm still struggling. I rip my own hair out knowing that with what I spent on this subscription, I could have filled my car's gas tank two if not three times.
My brother, who met his fiancee on Match.com, suggested possibly trying a more reputable, more "mainstream" dating service. As noted previously, most of my past experiences with online dating sites has been less than successful, and the Zoosk stint erodes the credibility even further needless to say. I may consider his suggestion with reservations, but will do so cautiously. So here you go, Mom, here's your answer as to why I never take your suggestions. Be it ** on a boar, ** on a sow, or just a brake light on a camel's **, all you have to do is pick your analogy. Zoosk is useless, but that doesn't mean they won't take your money, because they will. Steer clear and don't let them.

I have met a couple of other men since being on the site, but most men are too far away, or are scammers (engineers who work out of the country, etc.), always a red flag. This continued for about two years after I had unsubscribed. I actually knew a couple of the ladies they said were interested in me, and had known them for many years, and those specific ladies had never tried to contact me at any time. Why would they as we already did things together, socially, and had for many years.
They had also been scammed by Zoosk and had dropped their subscriptions but continued to get trolled to Re-subscribe. ATTRACTED TO ME AFTER I HAD CANCELLED MY SUBSCRIPTION??? By definition that means they left my profile active for a couple of years after I told them to delete my profile. While I must admit that 98% of the men on the site were not men I would date, they were plenty of people to choose from and get to know.
What people don’t seem to realize is ONLINE DATING IS A NUMBERS GAME!!! You can’t go on one date and assume that is going to be the end-all, be all. (But if it does happen, congrats to you!) Usually, it takes a while to find the right match for you, and people are impatient about that. Less than a month on the site, I met a really good man and we dated for eight months. He was the first healthy relationship that I have been in and we had a great time together. In the end, we decided to mutually end the relationship because he wanted me to move in with him and for personal reasons I wasn’t able to. But please note, this has nothing to do with Zoosk! I talked to a few men on this site and they were good guys.
From other reviews I’ve seen from multiple sources, Zoosk is rated higher than most of the others. I have been on Match (and was stalked by a con man), eHarmony, and Chemistry. I really think Zoosk is the best because of its user-friendly interface and amount of people on the site. But, you have to be smart about it. Trust me, I’ve learned the hard way that if he seems too good to be true... He probably is. And RUN if he asks for money. Trust your instincts and really get to know somebody before you determine this is the person you want to date long-term let alone marry. In my case, if I really want to date somebody on a long-term basis, I pay $11 for a background check. It has saved me a lot of heartache and disillusionment in the process. Honestly, I don’t think you can go wrong with Zoosk. Good luck!

It appears that not all "matches" are current, that is, some of the people viewed do not have a current membership and cannot be contacted/cannot respond. I tried to provide the date my membership was good through on my profile and it was not allowed. As is, the site is a waste of time and money. Membership can only be discontinued using a PC. I joined using a phone, why can't I quit the same way? This site is a sham, totally.

Of all the guys out there, Zoosk matches me with my ex-fiance I left via police escort for my protection. Definitely a bad call, Zoosk! The name-calling, online stalking, producing evidence of his online stalking with pieces I'd posted on a recipe website (!) continued until I blocked him. Needless to say, that ended my Zoosk account. And online, offline dating in general. I have 2 jobs and a teen to homeschool. My time for anything outside of career, kid, pets is pretty limited. Why waste it with potential criminals, police involvement?

I like how everything in my profile is set up and how I can post any picture I want. I get updates of my members constantly. I really like that I don't miss on any new member. Zoosk is a scam. Most profiles don't exist, they take your money and ultimately to contact people, you need to spend more. You can't revise your search, most profiles are computer generated. A waste of time and money, 99% of "profiles" are either not legitimate or totally opposite of the search criteria. I chose this based on Google's rating of #1. This site requires legal action, if I can stop one person from making the same mistake, then it was worth my time to expose them.

A few weeks ago I paused my Zoosk subscription. Some urgent family health issues came up and I did not have the time to support this mode of dating correctly. I paused my subscription on the day it was to expire. I did not look at any messages or view any tabs during this pause. A few days later I clicked on a link to open the web page and close my account, with this action the subscription was automatically renewed. Just with a click... My intent was to close it NOT reopen my subscription. In my complaint to Zoosk they referred to some popup message warning message which was an renewal agreement. I did not get this message. I have requested 2 or 3 times via email to cancel my subscription and remove any new charges that might have been generated. I keep getting the same automated response.

This is paid dating site that wants you to pay for more privileges as a full account member. The amount of views again and again by the same people is unreal and then send someone who viewed you a message and they never respond. Even after multiple messages attempts. Seriously, as a paid member for a 3 month $59.99 membership; I highly recommend checking out other more credible sites... I don't know what those are yet as this is the only dating site I have tried. If I attempt to try the online dating again I will NOT be using Zoosk. And I'll be doing some better research. My research to make me chose Zoosk as the dating site to try was based on the #1 rating. Where did this rating come from. Good luck.

Zoosk was easy to use. It was free for 3 months so that is basically why I used it. I liked that it was linked to Facebook so that while I was on Facebook I could see if anyone was trying to talk to me. It was also easy to switch over to Zoosk then switch back. It seemed like a lot to fill out but I get it. Zoosk seemed to match up with some guys I would go out with. However, most of the guys on that website were terrible. They did not want to date. I hated talking to most of the guys... they were dogs so to speak. I would want honest men who were looking for that special person that were truly interested in a relationship.

Zoosk.com is an online "dating service" that has personal profiles that they advertise as being nearby your location. The people in the profiles emailed to you messages to get you to sign up. I found zoosk.com once and I signed up and created a profile with pictures. I received 9 messages from "members", so I decided to get a paid membership. I sent messages to what I thought were members near me only to find that those friendly faces in the profiles I was trying to contact really aren't going to respond to my messages. I thought there was something wrong with my phone because the people in the profiles seemed to be interested initially saying they looked forward to hearing from me.
It has been 3 weeks which I have paid to meet people on zoosk.com. I had called their customer support 4 time due to my lack of any response from ANY members. Each time I contacted support, they claimed that I need to send gift coins to members to get them to respond. I have not received a single response from any member of Zoosk since I paid for a one membership subscription. I have since canceled my subscription and intend to pursue legal action. Zoosk has to be the worst dating site I have ever been on! Unfortunately there are no regulations on these online dating sites on how they can scam and get away with ripping the public off. Zoosk had a lot of phony member profiles that turned out to be just a way to lure you in. I signed up but wanted to check the site out first before paying money to communicate with others. I got many phony email messages saying interested members liked me and wanted to chat. So I signed up for only a month luckily, and replied to all emails and not one reply. Coincidence? I don't think because as my account was ready to lapse because I didn't want to renew, I got hit with a bunch more emails and some from the same earlier ones saying they wanted to meet. These emails were all scripted and sounded the same with bad writing skills!
After four months of service and over a hundred monologues, only three responses and one not acceptable. WHEN someone actually wants to meet you, their message gets lost conveniently with no way to respond and answer. This is a foolish, wasted site of your time and money. Zoosk is an unethical business. Once you pay to sign up, you have to buy coins to communicate with members or buy emojis and pay to see if someone read your message. Also, you pay to have your profile boosted. It is totally a scam. I called to cancel the account. The service representative was unfriendly and only offered me a partial refund after I brought up that I would complain to the BBB. Do yourself a favor and do not sign up for this one. Go to a reputable site like eHarmony or POF maybe.

Zoosk was a good site with plenty of good matches. It was easy to customize my profile so I could get what I was looking for. Without paying the fee though, the matches were not very good. Once I paid the fee, the matches got even better. It was easy to use and the matches were local and had things in common with me. I just don't like the whole online dating thing. It is hard to really know what the other person is really like. A lot depends on what the other person chooses to post about themselves. Overall, it was kind of fun to use the dating site if I just relaxed and took things in a laid back way.

Zoosk is rated according to Google search as number one in free dating sites. First of all this site is not at all free. Secondly, many of the profiles listed on this site are from website subscription telemarketers which feature both male and female profiles. In the larger metro regions such as Chicago or Detroit the chances are better than average in meeting real people, but in smaller rural areas such as Cairo, Illinois or Wickliffe, Kentucky you are more often than most to find a fake website telemarketer. Posting your personal profile is free and easy but do not expect to meet anyone without paying their fees.

I awaited for 6 months before a became a paying subscriber and held only the basic account membership that allowed only very limited actual communication. I decided to subscribe as the Zoosk service said I had over 80 letters in my mailbox that I could not access without becoming a paid subscriber. So I joined and paid the $120 fee just to look at the upon reviewing the messages I noticed that many of them contained the same generic verbiage and it immediately became clear that "messages" were computer generated messages. Not actual messages sent by Zoosk members.
I immediately called Zoosk and told them to cancel my membership and fully refund the money I paid. I explained that the messages weren't actual member messages but Zoosk computer generated message that are put in your mailbox to entice you to join and pay the exorbitant monthly subscription fee. Hence the fraud. In order to verify this, I wrote to a few of the members in response to the message that I received and they always confirmed that they never sent me a message.
So here's the way it works. If someone clicks on a smiley face Zoosk generates a text message to the non-member. Over time the number of messages grow and in my case was over 80 messages. The large number of unanswered messages entices the paying member to join to see the messages (computer generated).Another shady process is presented to the paying member. I assume that the paying member is notified that non paying member is interested and if they want to communicate with them they will to pay an additional premium fee to do so. The whole process is to generate as much cash for the company.

Honestly I only browsed the Zoosk site for matches but I wasn't thrilled by it and never made any actual connections. I liked the wealth of information (statistics, demographics, etc.) about the matches and the fact that it's all so easily accessible. Also, I really liked the format, it is like Tinder in that you select the matches by either liking them or scrolling by, in essence disliking them. It's easy, fun and quick. On the other hand, Zoosk can use more people! I hardly had any matches that were close to me so I was left with limited options in the end. I'm not sure if that's something they can realistically change, it could just be a geographic issue, but for me it just didn't work.

I think Zoosk is okay, but it is annoying that conversations are stuck behind a paywall. I like the ability to promote your profile and that you can link up your account with different websites. It shows you a set of different potential matches periodically. It seemed like it was going to implement new features with meeting in person but I think you had to pay for them. I think that there is also not enough options for finding people because I am bisexual and it doesn't let you search for men and women at the same time. It didn't seem very inclusive to LGBT people, which was what led me to use other sites. I was not that impressed with it to be quite honest.

I should have vetted the service more before signing up. That's on me. Once you buy a membership, you still need to buy coins to communicate with certain members or to interact with them in some ways. They have a feature called SmartPicks, which only sends me profiles that are 30 plus miles away. When I asked how to change this, they said I couldn't. When you're connected with a SmartPick (both parties like each other), you have no way of contacting them. When you're online, you get banner ads that say "Upgrade now to guarantee communication with any member." This is such a scam. Don't sign up for this at all. I'll wait for the class action lawsuit.

I'm all about a business that is trying to make a profit, but I am against a business that lies to you. I received so many views a day it almost made me sign up... until I did some research. The "views" are bogus, don't let it go to your head as Zoosk is obviously lying about this. If they were really interested, they would return the messages I sent them. 10 views a day from several of these girls, for 4-5 days straight. But not one response... go figure. A "smiley face" or "heart" is free for anyone and shows that non-paid members are interested.
Speaking of messaging, sending a message (a smiley face in my case), I receive one in return almost before I push the send button from a small handful of the people I have messaged. No way someone can look at your profile and return a message or even a smiley face in less than 3 seconds. Try it. I will never subscribe to this site, and you shouldn't either. I recommend you do not believe the overrated hype about this supposedly "#1 site". Prepare for a heartbreaking experience. Best of luck, either way.

Took part in 'carousel' to help determine my 'type' a few times, kept getting basically same types to reject. Got bombarded with 'matches' who were all well outside some of my more important parameters. Still no responses to my messages. Eventually clicked, if they are not subscribed, they CAN'T respond in any way. Suspended subscription & cancelled account. When asked, I explained that as a dating site, they are surely about communication. Arrgh, cant hold it back... We need feedback to our attempts to contact others, it's basic communications and socialization. I'm happy to take a hundred 'sorry you are not my type' messages in a row, as long as someone is responding. To get nothing over and over is literally unnatural... creepy even.
I recommended they consider allowing those free accounts one free response to each subscribed account that messaged them, even limit that to a certain number of freebies per day... at least then we may possibly get feedback. Don't know if they will take my advice, but I'm out after less than one week of my $35 month. I won't be back... I don't feel I was scammed, but I feel strongly that their business model is crippling their efficacy as a social networking site. ;)

Definitely don't say anything negative in your profile, Zoosk moderators edit it. They kept sending the same pics/my matches that I showed no interest in, over and over. Sent a few messages out to people I was interested in, received one reply, simple yes or no from them would have sufficed, replied to the ones I received, nothing back. I subscribed to the dating app, Zoosk, hoping it would be a better quality than a free app and I was disappointed. The same thing happened with “Fitness Singles.” On Zoosk, you only need to create a minimum profile and don’t even need to provide photos. You can set your preferences, but I’m not sure why, they aren’t heeded anyway, not by potential suitors nor by the smart pick generator. Also others view your profile, stand by for tons of attention! The ones who you will not be interested in will be the ones who truly ARE interested and will message you, send you flirts, and gifts.
The ones who are not will, “view” you a hundred times but actually never view you. The views are generated by the site. You will send messages out to your interests, but they will never respond indicating they are probably fake profiles. You will continue to be viewed and receive messages from people you will have no interest in (including the same sex). I had better luck with OKC, because I knew what to expect and it was free.
