If you are thinking it’s a good idea to buy now and pay later with Wayfair. Don’t do it! This Comenity bank is a major scam artist. They don’t have any way to manage account by scheduling payments. There is no way to pay more than 30 days in advance. They do this on purpose so they will accrue late fees against you. Now they won’t close my account, accept a lesser amount and keep tacking on late fees and racking up my bill. Ludicrous!

Let me start by saying my credit score is around 775. But---despite already giving my SSN in an application for credit and now having a hard inquiry on my credit report---Comenity refuses to complete my application if I do not make a photo copy of my Social Security *card* and mail it to them at a P.O. Box in Ohio. I called Comenity to see if there were any reasonable alternatives to complete my application. They were firm---there are 0 alternatives. So, mail a copy of my Social Security card, or expect to be denied credit, even with a 775 credit score.

Note that this entire transaction stems from an application for financing at Williams-Sonoma (i.e. not for the Williams-Sonoma Visa card) so that I could save 20% on a high-end espresso machine. My wife and I often visit Williams-Sonoma and many times buy small items. This was our first big purchase at the store, so the 20% savings was worthwhile. I have always been approved for credit on-the-spot in a store. But this time, it was left for "further consideration." (And what ensued after leaving the store is what I put above.)

I thought I had done my fair share of reading before submitting an application but turns out I did not. This bank is HORRIBLE. I tried to open a HYSA and they scammed me into opening 2 accounts. After realizing what had happened, they told me that I had opened 2 accounts (even though I simply followed the link in the email they sent me) and that my funds could be held by them for up to 10 days. They told me that I would have to wait to close my account and I got different information from the person I spoke to on the phone and the women I was messaging from customer service. An absolute mess and honestly feels like such a scheme.

I have been working hard on my credit for the past 2 years after a bankruptcy due to job loss and serious illness. Recently my score went up significantly. I didn’t know when Comenity took over Wayfair they would close the Wayfair card without giving me opportunity to pay in full. They just transferred my balance to their MasterCard. I’m still waiting on a large refund to show up from over a month ago also. So now my credit score has dropped 18 pts, they have my balance $75 higher than it should be, and I have a card I don’t want. It is my understanding that closing it will hurt my score, yet if I don’t use it and they close it that will hurt my score also. Where can I report them for not allowing me the opportunity to pay off my Wayfair balance and close that account myself? Thank you.

If there was a way to give them less than stars I would. I called and I made the payment on the phone. I asked for the total balance on the account. I paid the total balance. I was a day late and paying it so at the end of the billing cycle they added a late fee. Why when I called and asked for my total balance did they not add that late fee and and tell me or just add the late fee in? Why do they bill out for a separate late fee after I paid off my balance? I asked for my total balance to bring my account to $0. So they ended up charging me a late fee then finance charge for the late fee and then another late fee. Of course I wasn't looking at my mail. I'm working all the time and in my head I called and I paid off my account in total so why would I think that I owe this company any money.

They purposely do it like that so that if you make a payment between the 2nd and the 6th and you ask for your total balance to pay it off there will be a remainder late fee charge that they will charge you with finance charge. I have had Discover, Mastercard, I've had Visa, Visa cards through different banks & companies & I have never in my life had an issue like this.

Comenity Bank has been harassing me with phone calls and emails about a balance on my already closed Wayfair Card account. Wayfair Store more than a month ago refunded me the amount of an order that was never delivered. They did that promptly. HOWEVER, Comenity Bank refuses to reflect that refund in the credit card issued by them. I have provided 2 documents proving that I don't owe that money and that on the contrary, Comenity Bank owes ME a refund. I do not owe any late fees already. There has to be some intentional practice to just simply pick up the phone and connect with Wayfair to clarify the issue, the very same way they charge you without delay, they should refund you as soon as the Store or business involved issues the credit or refund. I do not recommend any credit issued by Comenity Bank. I have others and I can wait to pay them off to close them.

I had the misfortune of having my credit card account acquired by Comenity. Certainly, nobody in their right mind should never voluntarily open an account with them. Problems with them range from the irritating to what I would consider fraudulent business practices on their part. One only need look at other reviews to see the host of complaints. On the irritating side, they don't even have an app, so you have to log on to a webpage every time you want to do anything. What a waste of time and inconvenience!

On the more serious side, I just spent nearly half a year fighting with them over a charge that I disputed back in May (2020). I made a purchase, had the merchant cancel, but then refuse to issue anything other than a credit. I disputed to the highest level with the merchant to no avail and, to my dismay, found the bank uninterested in pursuing this at all or taking my dispute seriously. So much for the online purchase protection that we supposedly have when making purchases with a credit card. All of my appeals to Comenity and the documentation I provided appear to have gone into the circular file. Their only response was to repeatedly tell me to contact the merchant. I tried to convince them that we should be on the same side, and should both be fighting the unethical business practices of the merchant, but it’s clear that they have no interest in protecting the interests of their clients or their own business reputation.

I will keep this in perspective. While you’re rebuilding credit, it’s a wonderful thing to get approved for these cards, however, you need diversity because the moment you stop using these cards and being enslaved to debt, they will close your accounts without notice. Your credit score can tank, if you’re not watching your utilization and what you have strived to rebuild will now be a setback. They closed 5 accounts on me and stated it was for lack of activity. Thankfully my utilization was below 10% so when they closed the accounts, my utilization jumped to 16% which was still good, but it wasn’t what I was striving for. Their response to all of it was basically ‘you can reapply’. If I could give them zero stars, I would!

Other payments mailed at the same time in the same mailbox have been received and posted by those companies in plenty of time. Either Comenity has a very slow payment processing system or they are deliberately delaying posting payments to earn fees. I have actively used one of their retailer rewards credit cards for over a year. I've never been late on a payment. I have a very good credit rating and low revolving debt ratio. Due to the fact I applied for credit on another one of Comenity's retail cards, they ran new credit check on me. Since I have 2 or more credit checks in the past year, they AUTOMATICALLY closed my existing account that is in good standing, with no consideration of my account history. When I called and spoke to someone, I was told something to the effect 'these are the rules...we encourage you to reapply'. Now, I have "Issuer Closed..." on my credit history and my debt ratio will bring my credit score down. As a result, this retailer (my favorite retailer) is losing my business and my credit repair efforts using this account are no longer to my advantage.

This company and its affiliates are nothing short of disgusting, if ever there was a company that should be investigated for blatantly taking advantage of the vulnerable, this is it! I paid my account on time every time and because the due date and "promotional date' were different (no doubt by design) I was hit with the total interest ($749) for the year. They also do not let you schedule more than one payment at a time, literally every tier of their system is set up to make the consumer fail, as soon as that happens they destroy your credit and happily put you further & further into debt. Not once did they call, msg or email to say my promo date was expiring, yet as soon as I didn't pay the silly $15 minimum balance they have inundated me with up to 27 calls a day!

I will not be paying them, the damage is already done and I will gladly turn my efforts into exposing this company for what they really are. I personally don't care about the money, it's the principle and the predatory tactics that sicken my stomach. I'm sure there are a lot less fortunate people out there right now that are struggling to make ends meet and this company is more than happy to take full advantage of this. I don't know how the people that work for them wake up and go to work every day, they literally just make people miserable for a living. Where are the government regulatory boards? No doubt they have lobbyists keeping them off any watch lists. Something needs to crack here, these companies cant keep screwing over the public like this, reporters and news agencies need to step up! #CANCELCOMENITY

Considering of purchasing an Ulta Comenity Bank Mastercard – Please read the following and all the other reviews rating them 1 out of 5. 5 being the best rating. I obtained an ULTA Mastercard because I received a one-time discount on my purchase at Ulta Cosmetics. Every month E-mails from Comenity Bank Mastercard kept pushing me to "go paperless." I did not want to give them the tracking # on my checking account, so sent in a check for a the total of that month's charges (a very small amount) as soon as I received the statement in the mail. They charged a late fee because they did not get my check by the "due date." However, the statement from them was late getting to me. I sensed this company was not "legitimate," by my observation.

I decided I was not going to use the Ulta Comenity Capital Bank Mastercard. We have a Visa Card that we pay off every month and have always had excellent service with them. I am puzzled as to why Ulta would partner with Comenity. It really negatively impacts the integrity of Ulta’s reputation to be linked with a bank with so many extremely poor reviews by customers.

One day, I found myself at the grocery store without my Visa. I used the Ulta Mastercard for $37.00 to purchase groceries. The statement in July 2020 came back with a charge from the grocery store, as well as $140 from an online wig store?? I researched where the wig had been purchased from the CB statement. I did not purchase a wig.

I called to have this charge removed. A very nice young lady with a heavy accent and roosters crowing in the background answered my call. I realized we were in Pandemic Mode, but roosters? The roosters crowed throughout the conversation. I made mention of this and she laughed. She said the existing card would be cancelled and a new one would be sent to me. The new one arrived in about 2 weeks. I shredded it and all the paperwork connected with Comenity Capital Bank. I had gathered enough evidence to know that this is not a company I could safely work with, and I would be at risk for some type of fraud on their part if I continued doing business with them.

Now, in September 2020, I have received a letter that stated after the review, it was concluded there was no evidence to support my claim of being charged for a wig I did not buy and Comenity would like $140 of my money for something I did not purchase. Originally I was informed to send a payment of $37.00, which arrived to them in a timely manner. I can’t even imagine if they have performed so poorly with 2-3 small purchases, what it would be like with purchase(s) of significant monetary value. Please read on.... I am being asked to pay $140.00 that was fraudulently charged to their card. What is to say it is not one of their own employees? Their Account Protection Team did NOT protect me, but instead is trying to fraudulently squeeze $140.00 from a Senior Citizen on a fixed budget. This isn’t the first time....read on. **

The rep said Yes Comenity does risk assessments on accounts and if they dont like something on your credit report or if something was just added to your credit report they can cancel you at any time. I informed her why would they care what’s on my credit report AFTER they approved me? She says company policy. My score dropped 30 pts. The customer service representative -- after you had to go through a litany of options -- kept repeating her "script."

In closing accounts for a family member, I had the displeasure of working with Comenity Capital Bank. I followed all of the proper protocols to close accounts immediately upon receiving death certificates, etc. Upon closing the Comenity account following their exact procedure, I received a letter addressed to the decedent at my home address (which I had put on file with them- showing that they had made the changes and had the death of this person on file and had even gone so far to put my address in place) that there had been fraud on the account and that if as the decedent didn't contact Comenity within 30 days, the account would be closed. Hmmm.... I called the number stated on the letter, and no one could look up the account.

Immediately, they asked for the decedent’s phone number to look up the account, and could not find the account. Then in a "FRAUD" situation, they asked for their social security number! Uhm, no. I hung up and called the main Comenity number, which was entirely different than that of the number and address, and detailed information on the letter addressed to the decedent. It seemed like the letter itself was fraudulent and I was being cautious. I was passed to no less than six (6) people before being told that no one would even discuss the account with me, even though I am processing the death of the decedent and had delivered them everything they had originally requested per the law of my State and the decedent's death. The letter, IN POOR TASTE, was written to the dead person, telling them to call them, and tell them they were going to cancel their account, AFTER I had called and closed out the account appropriately per their protocols.

In the six separate discussions I had with the six separate phone handlers, none of them could help, none of them would admit they couldn't help and none of them would admit they had mishandled a delicate situation. It was despicable and poorly handled. There is yet to be resolution, even after having to be "escalated to the supervisor." *No, I will not give you the deceased person's social, if you can't find them in your system if you are telling me you are potentially dealing with fraud, fraud department. Are you kidding me?* I will; however, accept an apology for your poor taste of sending me a letter addressed to a deceased family member asking for them to call you, after being notified of their passing, and telling me "a letter must have crossed in the mail," though.

Why do you care what is going on with my credit file or my inquiries AFTER you opened my account??? How can you just close someone's account like this with no explanation, when the account is in good standing and being paid on time??? Shame on you for doing this during COVID, cancelling people's accounts like that. If you are thinking of getting this card, think again, not worth the trouble.

I am BEYOND frustrated with the customer service of this company. I recently paid over 2000$ to be able to close my account. The day it hit zero, I went online to make sure it was a 0.00$ balance. Called immediately to cancel, spoke to a gentleman and within a few minutes he said my account would be closed. Thought my problem was solved. WRONG. A few days later I get an email saying I have a 10$ balance. HOW? I again immediately call and speak to a woman this time who says it's "interest". Interest on what???? She can't help me close my account until that is paid. Well, I'm not paying that so I ask to speak to a supervisor. She puts me through to said supervisor who sees that I made a 2000$ payment so that I would get to a zero dollar balance.

I'm practically in tears at this point because I'm so frustrated, but thankfully the woman on the phone understood and and said, "Don't worry. I will take that interest off and close your account. You will receive a letter in the mail stating so." AGAIN I thought all was solved. Nope. A few weeks later yet again I receive an email saying that I now have a 20$ balance. So that woman did absolutely nothing and did not close my account. I am so done with this bank and I don't know what to do at this point. I've tried calling several times and apparently that does nothing. And if I don't pay it, it will end up in collections. I'm not paying for something that is not my financial responsibility. I want my account closed ASAP but that seems impossible.

My experience with Comenity is through an Iddeal Jewelry CC. I was given a balance that met the price of my wedding ring, with 0% int for 3 yrs. One month I scheduled the payment a day after the due date and received a late fee (which they nicely reversed). 2 months later scheduled a payment 9 days in advance to be pulled on the due date. At that same I just decided to cancel the scheduled payment and create an automatic payment, again 9 days in advance. Well the due date came and went, and about a week later I started seeing emails about my missed payment.

Before I had the chance to go back online and schedule a payment, ON TOP of the automatic payment I had set up weeks prior, I received a call from an agent regarding my missed payment and was asking for the next month's rent early as well. I explained my story about the automatic payments, which he did not care about, he just wanted to get the payment. SO, I authorized them, over the phone, to make the missed payment, with the same bank account that I had on file, attached to the automatic payment authorization that I set up, that now has another late fee, and SCHEDULED the next month's payment ON TOP of my already in place AUTOMATIC payments. But clearly this is purely all my fault.

I sent an email complaint with screenshot evidence of why the payment should have not been missed, and I never heard back. After a week I called in and went through a hellacious IVR process that asked for the last four of my social and my phone number, once I finally reached a live agent I was asked to provide my first and last name, last four of my social and my address. I explained my story to the agent, she was awkardly overly empathetic and then started to give me a closing speech on what I should do next time, which I stopped her and told her that I needed to speak to her supervisor. She transferred me after telling me that there IS NO WAY that they can remove the late fee since I already had one removed in the last 18 months.

The supervisor continued to keep the same story that "It is 100% impossible for them to refund a late fee if you had one refunded within the last 18 months". She genuinely came across as she could not possibly care any less about your story or points or argument, and seemingly enjoyed that. I even asked her if it was possible that Comenity to put charges on my account that were 100% fault on their end and they would still be my problem since I had a forgiven charge in 18 months. She responded that yes that is what it would be.

I was pretty floored that they allow that type of customer treatment. But I guess when you are in the business to offer 0% interest and thrive off of snagging every single instance that can produce a penalty charge, you are going to have to act like snakes. Once I have this loan paid off, I will never put another cent on that CC. If you read all of this....Hello!

A credit card is meant to provide funding for a limited time, but very few people think a the bank will STEAL from them. That's exactly what Comenity has done. The scam works like this: they take your payment check, and cash it, but they don't apply the credit to your balance. Instead, they claim you missed the payment, then they charge you a LATE FEE. When I spoke to customer service, along with a copy of the check they cashed, they told me that I should make another payment so that I do not get another late fee, while they investigate??? OK, so I paid off the total balance. It has been 4 months, and not only have they not investigated anything, they also have not contacted me, and supposedly there is no means of communication with the "department" that "investigates" this kind of thing. Apparently, they are swamped with investigations for stealing customers' money.

I have been using Overstock Credit card for years. Comenity Bank services these credit cards. Their policies are very strict and unlike other popular banks they will make sure they collect the interest on your promotional balance if you missed the payment or made the last payment on a due date after the promotion date. So always make sure you do your due diligence. This Credit card is really like any other but if you do not understand how promotional interest works and credit card 101, then use cash. Here is a tip, if you have a 12 month promotion. Take the balance due and divide it by 11, then let's say you get a number such as 53, round it off to 60. So instead of making the minimum payment which is usually like $35, you will be making $60 payment and getting rid of the promotional balance way before it expires. It's your money, be diligent.

The reason for only 4 star: this is the only credit card company that does not provide you with automatic payments. Really Comenity? You nailed it on how to make you consumer fall for it. It is obviously a trap. So beware and put a self calendar invitation on your You-Phone or Smartphone for payment at least a day before the due date as you have to schedule it manually. This should be illegal but there is no law requiring them to provide this feature. So Due Diligence is the key in life, and so is for this tricky little card.

I am definitely canceling my account. I urge you to never bank with them. They are thieves who don't care about the customer at all. I called and explained (patiently) that the reason my final (autodraft) payment occurred after the deadline was due to a glitch based on their own billing cycle. Even though they acknowledged my perfect payment history, Comenity didn't care. They only cared about charging that interest. They clearly just want to squeeze an extra $500 out of me before I close my account (which I assured them I definitely will).

If Comenity cared about customer service at all, their associates and supervisors would make an exception for honest customers with legitimate concerns. But Comenity made it clear that they don't care about their customers. They only care about that bottom line. Even in the midst of a pandemic, they would take advantage of their most loyal and attentive customers. They are not to be trusted. You have been warned.

When I have tried to make a purchase online, it is declined and I am instructed to call them. I do not hear that well on the phone and prefer things in writing.

I got on the bank's website and went through all of the hassle to get on their "Secure" website to create an account and asked what the problem was. I heard nothing. I tried to use my card again for a pretty small purchase, and it was once again declined. If the bank's site is so extremely secure, I can only assume that they do not want to put their reason for declining in writing.

A few days later I credited the account the full purchase amount, and later that month, I made my normal payment to prevent any charges. 2 months later I see that I'd been fined 2 interest fees. After being on the phone for 45 mins. They tell me that it's all "correct" and I should have waited to pay off the purchase amount. They were not interested in trying to correct the error, and only refunded me 1 of the interest payments. Very disappointing, when it is absolutely clear what the intention was.

Last week, I received notification from my credit monitoring service that this account just closed. Why? I checked my email inbox, I even logged into my account. No information on why the account was closed. Technically the account isn't 'closed' it just has a $0 available credit. Thank you for your superior service (sarcasm) and goodbye.

The payment was never applied, so I called in July 2019 and the representative said he sees the payment was not posted and that he would take care of it. In August I get another bill with interest and late fees. I called Comenity again, says the original payment was never posted, but I could pay over the phone and he would remove the late fees and interest charges. Comenity reported to the credit bureaus and my credit went from #856 to #760. Called today and they have no record of my phone calls. So lesson learned, NEVER get a credit card from a store ever again!! Sticking to my Discover card for all purchases.

Received a notification from my credit monitoring service that this account was closed by Comenity. I immediately called them and was told it was closed due to inactivity. I asked if it could be reopened. I was told no because it had been over 15 days and they can only reopen accounts within this time period. I asked when it was closed because I didn't know until this morning. She stated April 24. Today is May 8. I said, "Ma'am that's 14 days". She said, "Sorry it's over 15 days". WHAT? I asked for a supervisor. Once connected she tells me that I would have had to have made a purchase by April 22, THEN called Comenity by the 24th of April to request the account stay open for the account to remain open. WHAT?

How would I have known that 1. I needed to make a purchase by this date and 2. that I would have to call them within 2 days of this purchase SINCE THEY DIDN'T SEND ME ANY NOTIFICATION OF THESE REQUIREMENTS. She said, "We're not required to notify you". WOW. I have worked very hard to raise my credit limit over 700. I have no late pays, credit usage under 3% total. I had a wrongful collection placed on my acct, which I immediately disputed and it was removed the same day. This was one of my oldest cards. Its closure is dropping my credit score nearly 75 points. This is ridiculous.

There needs to be a requirement that if an action is going to happen that will lower a consumers credit score, that the consumer is NOTIFIED BEFORE THIS HAPPENS AND GIVEN A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME TO FIX THE ISSUE BEFORE ITS REPORTED. We know before we submit any application for credit, that the inquiry will affect our credit score. We provide consent for this. We should be given the same opportunity and information BEFORE a negative mark is placed on our credit.

She understood I was livid about what had happened, she offered to enroll me in a program in which they close my account (not like I use them for a credit card anyways) charge me 0% interest, minimum payment of $50 for 60 months. She was helpful through the phone and I honestly cannot thank her enough for saving my sanity over this bill. Lol. But shout out to Lynelle again. Overall, I would never do business again with Kay Jewelers - Comenity again.

They will continue to drain, and finance charges your account without notifying you. They said they've sent me emails to tell me about my charges. I've checked my email and even phone calls every day and have not seen anything regarding late/finance charges. I've made a payment scheduled for that month, and they said since it's new, they put a hundred dollars finance charge on my card. I called them to ask them to take it off since I've already made the payment, and they withdrew my money again a few days later. They will not try to dispute anything against the finance charge, except defer the amount, but I'll continue to get the finance charge for how many days/months my payment is deferred in addition to my remaining balance.

They do not have a payment leniency policy if the customer pays a couple of days after unlike other big credit card companies. Which will allow late waived of late fees within 14-30 days after the payment is due. Because, why would they? They want your money! And its FREE money from yours to them, so why would they take it off those extra advantages? Make sure you be extra careful when applying with this bank company. Keep EXTRA care. I wouldn't recommend open any credit lines with them—lousy company's policy and customer service level. The executive administration should be change.

I have not had anything negative with your bank or any of my cards - always pay my account on time or before, and for more than the minimum due. Like I told the rep I spoke with on the phone - this is ONLY because of the pandemic - they are freaking out and closing accounts on people who don't use them very often. And about $100 in fees. No mention of any of this from the sales girl. No details whatsoever. It’s very reassuring to see so many similar reviews and reviews that are so recent/relevant.

Last time I used the same bank account stored in my account and Comenity gave me a late fee saying the bank couldn't locate the account. The. Same. Account. I. Used. The. Month. Before.

After finally getting a representative to understand me he credited the late fee and launched an investigation into why the same account didn't work for the last payment. They came back with no explanation only that my bank didn't locate the account. My bank denied the payment was even requested and so no payment was forwarded to them. After inquiring into my account two months ago, all my credit limits on all my cards were severely reduced even after I'd just gotten a subst6 increase in another comenity bank charge account. The next month I got an accrued interest charge of $546.72 on a bill that I owed $41.00 on. If they had applied the money correctly to the oldest promo it would have been paid. Instead they took out the $41.00 I mentioned and applied it toward a new promo that was not up for another year just so they could tag me on a bill that was paid in full.

I in turn paid off my other promo six months early and told them I refuse to pay that fee and will dispute it with the credit bureau. It doesn't say anywhere on their bills (nor is anything highlighted or in big letters) that they separate the minimum payment for a new charge and then apply the leftover for the promo. It is Federal Law that they must pay off the oldest promo first which did not happen here. At the very worst, they could have charged me a late fee for missing the minimum payment when they could clearly see I paid my promo off to the penny as it stated on my bill.

I have closed all my accounts that deal with Comenity and will not do business with any store that uses that bank. Apparently the cards were intercepted by a thief while in transit because Comenity called to tell me they suspected fraudulent transactions on the cards. I said yes because I have not received either card. Comenity canceled the cards and reissued two replacement cards that day.

I received the new Sephora card and called to activate it. Everything was fine. I later received the new Ulta card and called to activate it. The bank told me they had closed BOTH cards! They said our FRAUD department pulled your credit a SECOND time and noticed you have too many Inquiries on your report so we closed both cards. Wait WHAT?!

Why did they approve my applications in the first place? Why did they pull my credit report a second time in less than 30 days? Third, the story about excessive inquiries was untrue so why’re are you lying. What kind of bank approves a customer, upgrades the customer from the private label cards to MasterCard and VISA, then closes the accounts for no justifiable reason.

When trying to resolve this matter, I spoke with a very rude and defensive supervisor in the Fraud department who kept speaking over me. I said this sounds like you all are holding me responsible for the two stolen cards I never received. I said I didn’t conduct those transactions. Perhaps the cards were stolen from my mailbox. I don’t know what happened to them but I never received them. I filed a police report as soon as Comenity Bank told me there were fraudulent transactions on the first cards.

I notified all 3 credit reporting agencies and placed Fraud Alerts on my credit reports. She said our decision to close the cards has nothing to do with the fraud on the cards you never received. She said you’re a credit risk. How is someone in the Fraud department now making an underwriting decision? Credit risk is an underwriting decision and the underwriting department had already assessed my credit worthiness and approved me for both cards at this point. Furthermore, I have good credit which is why they upgraded both my applications from the private label cards to MasterCard and VISA.

Stay away from these people because they’re disrespectful, incompetent, unprofessional, and they have absolutely no regard for customer service. Thank you Comenity for accusing me of being a thief and lying about it by saying you rescinded your offer because I had too many Inquiries on my credit report. That’s hogwash. I’ve been giving them business for years and they continue to provide AWFUL customer service anytime you need anything. Heaven forbid you need a late charge waived, they act like it’s coming out of their own check!!! They won’t waive anything regardless of your situation (my mother passed away and they couldn’t care a less)!! Well I am officially DONE with them and their money stealing schemes! I’ve paid them all off and I would NEVER use them again! I’ll give my business to Capital One or Discover.

No auto payment, no email alerting you of future charges, then they say you select paperless that they offered over and over. I ended up paying double of the item amount I bought from Wayfair. Thanks God Walmart is with CapOne. Their customer service is horrible, more like a collectors. They are rude and useless. Never buy from any store related to this bank.

I made a qualifying purchase for deferred interest, however after making the purchase, Comenity reneged on the agreement we had, and charged me interest on everything. They refused to honor the agreement THEY made with me. I was also paid a month in advance, however I was still hit for a late fee for not making my payment on time (even though I've overpaid every 2 weeks and was over a month ahead of schedule for payments on purpose). After trying to get them to assist me, all I got was a rude attitude back. I'll never use Comenity ever again. This company and its customer service is complete garbage. If I could give a 0 star rating, I would absolutely do it. Judging by the other reviews on here, it's a shock they're even still in business.

Since I opened my account in 2012, I was told, I could only get a letter drafted 10 days after my Debit Card payment to my OLD address on file. They were not able to fax or email or anything else besides a letter. The letter could not be prepared till 10 DAYS AFTER my debit card payment. And then it’d take an additional 7-10 days for the letter. So 17-20 days to receive a sentence saying I paid off my balance. After 7 calls to their customer service and no one saying the same thing twice....I will never have another Comenity card again. Horrible service. They sure can yank your money in seconds but not provide any service once they’ve done so.

My daughter and I purchased some jewelry at Little Switzerland in St. Thomas in May with the six month interest free offer. I religiously paid the amount due each month to avoid the interest charge and always paid by the due date on my statement. Now that I have made the last payment, based on the due date that was on my statement, they are saying that I didn't pay the promotional balance off by 11/21 so they charged me the entire interest of $152.96 for the purchase because my payment didn't reach them until 11/25. The due date on my statement was 11/28 which is very confusing... The promotional due date should be the due date on your statement.

I feel this is a very deceptive and unfair practice on the party of Little Switzerland and Comenity Bank. I called and asked them to refund me the $152.96 and they refuse to do so. I am very disappointed with Little Switzerland and Comenity Bank and will never buy another thing from you and I will be sure to tell all my friends who take cruises to St. Thomas to never buy anything at your store based on this practice. I closed my account so you lost me as a customer also. I travel the Caribbean frequently and I'm sure other jewelry stores will appreciate me as a customer more than Little Switzerland does.

Comenity bank has a predatory behavior with customers. I paid $200 without my bill in front of me 9/4/19. I owed $206.95. Locked myself out of my online acct and had $6.95 bill left Oct 2019 (I was unaware). I Called in mid November when I found out about the $6.95 I owed. I requested paper billing (the oversight would not have happened with a paper bill) although I don't know why the account was set on electronic bill. I paid the bill at the time. W.sonoma waived the fee, did not credit my account for $6.95 and $2.00 interest when I paid the first time. The amount was not applied until November 26 2019. The rep said I was all set, no balance and my card was in good standing on my first call. My card was declined in store in December. I returned home and checked my account.

I was shocked when on my 3rd phone call the auto system reported a past due balance of $41. The call rep said she didn't blame me for being upset, she had seen my prior calls about the problem acknowledged a zero balance and that nothing could be done until 12/26/19 as that is when they update their system. I was surprised comenity reported me to credit bureau when the bill was paid, the late fee removed in my first phone call with them and the amount they reported was for a $41.80 bill that was not even owed. After the multiple contacts with the account reps were ineffective I contacted TransUnion credit bureau to help remedy the problem. This is deliberate predator behavior by comenity bank

OMG-they are the lender for Alpheon credit. They run promotions on their lending which is an earlier due date than the due date on their autopay. They should give you that option. They prey on people that are good payers and rip them off!! I borrowed $10,000 in July and was told it was interest free if I paid within 6 months. I paid it off every month-I was late, one month, but paid and was charged $27. You would think paying it off regardless of one mistake, they would be lenient on the late fee. Only reimbursed me $15. So, I finish paying within 6 months by THEIR due date-$10,000-and they charged me almost $1000 interest.

When I called they said I should have paid it off 7 days sooner because it was the end of the promotion. Why wasn’t this date an option for me on autopay? They did nothing. Let's prey on the people that pay legitimately every month to STEAL money. Even though it was my mistake, they sneakily developed the promotion in that way, hoping that you would do as I did- pay within the allotted period but because they ended it before the due date, the SCUMBAGS can make money. I hope they go under. I hope that there is a class action suit on their unfair practices. NEVER will I go near anything Comenity Bank again!!!

I divided that bill by 12 and made 12 payments. My last payment had a due date of 10/04/2019 so I set the payment up for that date. Two weeks later I received a bill in the amount of $102.35 for interest charges. I called their customer service department and they told me that I am being charged interest because the promotion plan expired on 9/25/2019, 9 days before the bill was due. This is extremely poor business and seems almost a dishonest practice.

I use this same interest free promotion through other banks on almost every big purchase I make, and I can tell you that Comenity Bank is the only institution that I know of that operates this way. Two examples: The first is thru Best buy. I had a Promo transaction date of 3/18/2019. The promo expiration date is 4/07/2020 (the due date of the bill), not 3/19/2020. They allow 12 equal payments, no gimmicks. The second is thru Home Depot. Again, the Promo transaction date was 5/30/2018. Again, the promo expiration date is 6/12/2020 (the due date of the bill), not 5/31/2020. They also allow 12 equal payments, no gimmicks. This just seems like a financial institution taking advantage of people.

The person I spoke with (at 866-668-5450) told me that she would note that I refused to answer the questions related to my information and that a letter would be issued noting this refusal.

The way this was presented sounded threatening and seemed to imply this action could result in a future credit issue. When I asked her if that was the case she said no which is good. But overall the interaction with this organization was very bad. The interaction was pressured (she noted the "question process is time and we might have to restart” when I asked a question) and her response to me not wanting the card twisted the truth saying she'll record I was refusing to answer her question. It was almost like she had been instructed to pressure consumers into finishing the questions regardless of their responses. This was the worst interaction I've had with any bank in many years. I will be sure to share this experience with friends and family so they can avoid applying for the Wayfair credit card.

Had my card breached in September 2019. While Comenity did issue credit for the fraudulent charge, I was never able to use the new card issued to me. After verifying my card was UNLOCKED, and my address and phone number were correct, I had made several attempts to use my card, only to be mortified at the register. At which time, I gave Discover Card my purchases. I called twice to research the issue and while the reps tried to be helpful, they showed absolutely NO ISSUE on their end. I closed my account and cut up my card. And just for the record, MY ACCOUNT WAS AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN IN EXCELLENT STANDING!!!!

The customer service person told me that If apply and buy through the Comenity credit card I will have 36 months interest free. As per this I applied the comenity credit card. I have been making monthly payment without fail. Never missed a single payment. On 08/30/2019 I had a balance of $175.86. in my account. When I looked at my account again 4 days later on 09/04/2019, the account has been charged for financial charge of $700.71 for a %175.86 balance.

I called the customer care immediately. The customer care person told me that the 36 month interest free plan is only if the purchase amount is more than $3000.00. My invoice amount was 2940.85 and I was never told that I will have only 18 months of interest free if the purchase amount is less than $3000. As soon as the conversation is over, I paid the remaining $175.86 on 09/4/2019. My account is still charged with $700.71.

They constantly increase my minimum payment for no reason, using the excuse of "We sent a notification" to make it OK. I have never dealt with any company that has done this before. The minimum payment should only go up if you have spent more on the card. Then it makes sense. But if I haven't used the card in over a year, they should not be constantly increasing my minimum payment! Then if you call to speak to someone, you deal with incompetent people who have no idea how to answer your question and have no intention of finding out. "Oh I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is. They sent you a notification." Then you have to insist that they find you someone who knows, because someone SHOULD know, don't you think?

Ultimately, you speak with a supervisor who reiterates that Comenity has the right to change their terms whenever they feel like it, and I can tell you from experience that they exercise that right on a regular basis, unlike any other banks I've ever dealt with! DISGUSTING company, disgusting people. Never again will I deal with any retailer who uses Comenity Bank. I will avoid them like the plague that they are!

So when I paid the balance of $3500 down to $2600 all of a sudden the deferred interest of 30% hit and I got a lovely $4700 bill. My $65 payment went to $190 each month. Did I mention that each payment I make results in a $121 interest charge so essentially going to stay in debt. This is disgusting. Never have I ever had my minimum monthly payment more than double.

On February 14th, 2019 I purchased a wedding ring set from my local Kay's Jewelers. March 16th 2019, I went into Kay's to pay off the account, gave a check and was assured there would be no problem. April I received a statement for $8 and change and paid it. Then May received another statement, now for $19 and change and again paid it. Didn't receive another bill until July with a balance for DOUBLE the amount originally charged. I immediately checked with my bank and there was NEVER an attempt to take the payment for the account. I have called MULTIPLE times to get this taken care of and continue to get the run around. They have now messed up my married name and I am required to fix it when they made the mistake.

It is now October and I still have not gotten a statement with the correct amount that was originally charged. They tell me each time I call that the dispute has been closed and I have to open a new one. I have spoken to multiple departments with no result. On the last phone call in early September, I was told that the amount had been adjusted, but have not received a new statement reflecting it. I checked my credit report this weekend (October 12th), it still shows the doubled amount and they have reported me over the limit for the last 6 months which is negatively affecting my credit after I was told the amount was adjusted. This is a horrible company to deal with. I have been lied to on every phone call and by supervisors. I am at the point I am looking into retaining an attorney to deal with this issue. HORRIBLE company to deal with.

I received an email stating that the payment was received and would be deducted, pending final authorization from the bank. My daughter tried to make a purchase last week but couldn't. I went to check and it said that the payment was returned. I didn't understand why since the account had plenty of money in it, but I paid with a different account since the payment was now considered late.

After a few days went by, I noticed that the account had been frozen, so I contacted customer service. I was told that the account used to make the last payment couldn't be found, so the payment was returned, and even though I made another payment, which I double checked to make sure was debited due to the first problem that I had, my account was locked and not eligible for review for 90 days. That means that all of my coupons will expire, and my two Angel rewards worth $10 each will also expire. Maybe I'm just having a bad day, but their response made me feel horrible. I told my teenager that I will pay off the remaining balance, but then I will cancel the card.

The Post Office sent me a letter dated May 10 2019 that my mail was being held until my new address was confirmed as they believed my online postal account was compromised. (It wasn't.)

When I got the bill I paid it in full. Now the craziness begins. I got a new bill showing a $25 FEE because my bill was posted the 17. I didn't pay it because I paid the bill in full by phone. (Maybe they post payments 3-5 days later in order to get late fees?) I called and explained I paid the bill in full and asked that the FEES be forgiven. I was credited for one FEE but not the other! Now I'm being charged interest upon interest. This Bank reported nonpayment to the Credit Bureaus in order to hurt my Credit Score.

The WORST part of the ordeal is how the bank's employees treated me, the condescending tone, talking over me, I hung up on Perry today (talking over his barrage of what a terrible person I am for ignoring the FEES). Now the BILL IS $149 of interest upon interest. Do not do business with Comenity Bank, ever. I have never heard of such money grubbing FEES in my life.

Last month, I spent half an hour on the phone with a customer service rep to pay my bill. When I was done, I was assured that everything was ok. Maybe for Comenity it was ok.

This month, I got a bill that included a $27 late fee and $3.33 interest. I closed the account and paid the bill. Other credit card companies are able to take payments directly from my bank account with a minimum of my involvement. Comenity would apparently rather collect late fees. I'm not sure if Bealls of Florida has any responsibility in this situation but it has soured my view of their business.

I managed to pay a few small amounts over the past weekend, it would not allow more than one payment in a day, though that was how my outstanding balances would come up. I have a low limit which is fine, but after my purchases have been made and shipped, it’s not reflected when I log into the account, so I can’t pay it off and make more purchases.

My balances and available amounts never seem to be correct. I can’t even make a scheduled payment for a larger balance showing, but it did allow two small amounts payments that were mysteriously different than otherwise shown. The payments are directly from my checking account, but they don’t seem to be submitting them on time, and they are very slow to show them. I have reached out to them, more than once. I only received an automatic response saying they would look into it and get back to me soon.

My bill is due in on the 10th, and the tenth and I am still unable to even schedule a payment for that. The stores I shop in that used Comenity offer extra rewards if using this card that are not otherwise available. The last straw came when I got a message from a credit report monitor I use. It said that I had been reported for exceeding my credit limit, which I truly doubt is accurate. I gave one star only because I had to give a rating to post this.

I had mailed my checks in the envelope they had provided and I had checked to see that the address was clearly shown in the envelope window. I sent your shop and then you can company so I realize I was being ripped off by Comenity Bank. I noticed that I started to receive high interest on items that I no longer even owned. I would shop in the stores without trying on clothing and when I got home if something doesn’t fit or if a gift I bought for someone didn’t pan out right I will return it. However many times I reviewed my statement and it seems that I was being charged interest on items that I no longer had or returned. I opened up an investigation with the Better Business Bureau and guess what they ended up telling me that all charges and fees were related to the charges on the account. No one in their response team will break down the actual fees related to a particular purchase. I decided I had enough and I asked for my account to be closed. At the time of closing my account I had a 1300 credit limit and I had used 800 of it.

Last year I was a victim of the wildfires and I try to attempt to get my card paid down but ran into some financial hardship. The bank was unwilling to help in any type away instead of helping they raise my inches right up to the highest that it can be.They demanded payment and started to contact me all hours of the day for collection purposes. I ended up getting back on track but they hit me with a 30 day late on my credit report. Even though they received money from the federal government to assist those who were affected by the fires they never reached out to assist me or attempt to assist me in anyway after I requested the hardship application.

By April I was able to get my account paid down an additional $300. Feeling great about that because all I wanted to do was pay off this account and be done with it I attempted to pay as much as possible. Each time I paid on the account my credit limit was lowered. And I thought that was so odd why would you lower your credit limit on a closed account I’m not shopping on it. Most recently I opened up another complaint with the Better Business Bureau requesting again for them to provide documents of the Finance fees related to the purchases. They responded with my statements as if I was unable to see them and they also lowered my credit limit this time down to a whopping $800. Due to the credit limit be lower I am now about $15 over my credit limit which also comes with a fee.

I believe this is all part of the retaliation for me initially contacting the Better Business Bureau in regards to the hardship experience during the wildfires that they were unwilling to assist me with. I just want others to hopefully know that getting any card with Community is a bad idea. All they do is rip you off. Looking back on the past 12 months what I am only paying on right now are all the fees that been applied to the account with interest and late payments.

As long as they can charge you a late payment fee they can add interest on the late payment fee because they put it towards your overall balance. Needless to say I’ve had this account open since 2012 and I reviewed all the fees I received since then and it’s almost 3 times the amount of what my actual original credit limit was so they’ve made a killing off of me alone. I can only imagine how many other individuals are going through the same thing that I went to for this particular bank seems to be fraudulent to me.
