Since I had NetSpend I have not been spending too much and burning up a bank account. I do reload and direct deposits. I love using their reloading locations. It's only $1 and basically pretty easy. I also love the fact that when it is direct deposit, as soon as it hits your account, it's automatically available. Some people have to wait two or three days. Their team is great, responds well and answers all my questions. I've recommended NetSpend.

I first heard about NetSpend from a mutual friend. I wanted to do some new banking so I tried it and decided to go with them. With my NetSpend card, I'm able to use it to pay bills and make online purchases, not to mention their early direct deposit. My interactions with their reps have been wonderful.

My boyfriend and I both have NetSpend. We use it for the direct deposit. Sometimes we purchase items with it and somethings like our car insurance we pay with it. My boyfriend is old school where he likes to take the cash out and pay things. But me, no I would use the NetSpend all the time. The only thing that I don't like about it is you're only allowed to take $300 out at a time. It's a little bit of an inconvenience. But other than that I would absolutely recommend it. I’m on disability and getting it a little bit earlier than my normal day and I receive good service from them if I ever have a problem. Like at one point about a year ago when I wasn’t getting the check and I had to get another card. It was definitely handled with earnest help. They went all the way to help me and it was resolved in a very timely manner.

I had a large Social Security check to be cashed and I needed a place to put it. NetSpend card was what I wanted to use it for, and I've continued to use it for four years now. I haven't had any problems using the card. As a matter of fact, I shopped at Home Depot and they automatically sent me a new card, so I'm very pleased with it. I use direct deposit option more frequently. All my interactions with the reps have been positive. I've only called once or twice. I use the card for everything online. It's great service, easy to use, dependable and I love the fact that I can check it online and I get a text message when it's used.

On October 10, 2014 I called Netspend to first talk with a customer service rep. But as stated in a complaint before, they were too busy to answer my calls, and said they would call me back soon as they could. Well, I waited and waited but no callbacks at all. So, I call several times until I called to report my card stolen then I was able to speak with someone. She was very rude and had no concern for this customer (Me). I explained my situation, give her all the details and she kept getting everything I said wrong and had the nerves to get mad at me for her mistakes.
Well, I asked to replace my stolen card and give her my new information and asked for it to be updated in their system. She said okay, but I also ask her why she did not ask me my security question, which suppose to be ask every time I call. She stated she don't have to and it is not in their policy to do so. That is not true, because why would the Supervisor state that to me if it's not so? The customer service rep. said to me "well you can cancel and go with another company if you like." I said "no! I don't want to go with another company, I do like netspend, but right now you're being a problem. May I speak with your Supervisor?" She put me on hold for a long time until I had to call back and once again I had to wait, but no one called me back so I called again.
I spoke with another customer service rep. who was rude too. Now she asked me a security question but I didn't remember that one question so she refused to ask me another question. I asked her do she see that one I asked to be asked every time I called, she said no! In a very haughty way. I told her, "May I speak with your supervisor." She said "let me find one," and never came back the phone, just hung up. Sigh, not happy about this. I hope Netspend really deal with their employees.

I am truly disappointed in netspend. I was presented the referral program through a business partner. Now prior to this I had already signed up as a netspend cardholder as a teen. I didn't think that it would prohibit me from the referral program. I signed up think that i would receive the same respect as anyone else whom may have signed up. Once I received the card i uploaded a few hundred dollars thinking that i would still get the $20 that netspend offers for the referral program. I didn't get it, so i called the rep that i talk to apologized and assured me that i would indeed receive $40 within two business days, i was so excited that i told everyone on Facebook! I waited a week and still didn't receive the money on my card.
I called netspend again only for the next rep. To tell me that i did not qualify for the referral program due to me signing up as a cardholder years ago. And a sorry! sorry isn't good enough, i am truly disappointed and technically i just lied to everyone on Facebook. now i have to go back and tell them that netspend doesn't keep their word. I am trying to run a business and i have just been made out to be a liar due to miscommunication and lack of research.

I used to go cash my checks 'coz I couldn't get a bank account because I owed the IRS, but I don't anymore and decided to stay with Netspend instead of going to a bank. I pay bills and online purchase using Netspend all the time. Netspend notify me every time I spend money. Somebody broke into their security and tried to use my account, so they got me the thing where they let me know every time somebody's spending money. They've been real good. The manager at the office on 87th where I call helped me out a lot, getting to where they tell me when I spend money and how to do it and everything else. I have recommended it to two people. I was kinda bummed out when somebody broke in and hacked their system but after that, nobody ever bothered my account anymore.

NetSpend is very convenient. I use it to pay bills and for direct deposit. The card has to be loaded in order to do purchases online. Versus a lot of other prepaid cards - they kind of reject a lot of purchases, but I haven't had any trouble with purchases or anything like that. I just love the overdraft feature being that there’s a certain amount of time that you can put the money back before they charge you the additional fees. Lastly, I like the customer service. They're always there.

I decided to go with NetSpend for my direct deposit because I heard you can get the deposit five days before time and it sounds pretty good so I went with it. With NetSpend, I have been able to manage my finances better. I have paid a couple of bills over the phone using the card. They have the deal where you can overdraft to $100 and they charge you $15. That’s nice and cool if you don’t have the money on hand, but I think every 12 months they will cancel it for 30-60 days without warning, without notice. I think they should notify ahead of time before they suspend it. But other than that it was good and I definitely recommend it.

I like NetSpend and I don't plan on changing from them. I use it for direct deposit because Social Security was saying that everybody had to have their checks going to a bank or direct deposited. Some of their reps don't speak good English and it's hard to understand what they're saying so it's frustrating. But for the most part, I keep hanging up and calling back to find someone that speaks English right. Still I’ve recommended NetSpend to a couple of people.

We have been customers for many years. I recently lost my card on Sept. 25. I contacted NetSpend to report my card lost, and a customer service rep. told me I would receive a new card in 7-10 business days. We receive me & my families only income via direct deposit on this card. On the day my direct deposit is due, I contacted NetSpend to see the status of my new card. Only, then was I told by the customer service rep. that I could purchase a temp. card to have my money transferred on to, we then after purchasing the card tried to get a hold of a rep. only to constantly be told they were too busy and would call us back 25 minutes later; this happened in total 6 times. After all that, our account was put on a block, that we were never made aware that was going to happen. They asked us countless (pointless) security questions, even after we put a security question on to prevent all of this. We tried to get in contact with supervisor, only to put on hold for 20mins then hung up on. We were told that we would have access to our funds in 4 hours - this was at 6 pm, they don't even work at that time. We were only then to be told that we would maybe get our funds the next day.
Mind you, I have 2 children, one that has type one diabetes. That I have no means to take care of currently. Every customer service rep. I have spoken to gave me a different run-around answer. Majority of the customer service reps had a very heavy accent and couldn't understand some of things I was saying. As soon I get my money, I will leave this scam, thieving company. Would not recommend to anyone, avoid this company like the plaque. This company has no right to hold my funds like this, I have never dealt with a customer service this bad before.

I must say, I am extremely pleased with the service I've recently received through netSpend. In a review of my recent transactions, I discovered a transaction I was unfamiliar with. Upon a more thorough examination of the specific charge, I learned for certain, it was a charge I nor any of my family had made and moreover, it was made through a company/site present in numerous consumer complaints for identical and similar actions. I had no idea how or why my account had been utilized by some person or entity, but I knew I was not responsible. I also knew, if there was any way possible, I had no intention of paying for something I did not order, nor use.
I notified the netSpend customer service department and in less than a week, my account was credited for the amount of the bogus charge. It required me to send just one letter and with that, netSpend resolved the problem. Since I first opened an account with netSpend, a couple of years ago, I have had nothing but excellent service. So good, in fact I have had no need to contact their customer service department for help, until now and boy, did they do right by me! I am extremely impressed and will not hesitate to recommend netSpend to my friends, relatives, and co-workers. netSpend is the best!!!

Seen their ads and a couple of my friends have it, so I figured this would be the best way to do it. Now I have half of my check direct deposited there, most of it is there like a day or two before the regular payday. It's awesome! Plus I can use my card and nobody asks any questions. Most places now require some kind of a credit card, so it makes people feel better. It doesn't matter now if I have debit or credit; it makes me feel good. I like it overall.

I was cashing my checks at Ace and the young lady said to me that they're taking too much money out of my check, so she started me off with a NetSpend card. Now I get direct deposit and pay my bills with it. It’s easy to transfer money from your account instead of having the money in your hand.
The beauty of NetSpend that I really like is that you get your money before the first. That's good for me, because I don't like to go out on the first with everybody else. I'm not trying to be different but I don't like to be around a crowd of people, so if I could do my stuff five days prior to the first, that's a blessing for me and that helped me pay my bills without anybody looking over my shoulders.
Since getting my Netspend Card I've called, I've texted, and they are very professional. I truly appreciate them.

I first learned about NetSpend a long time ago. I was actually getting my checks cashed at Ace Checks Cash. It was just a way for me to have a debit card. I like the idea of there being a savings account associated with it. I immediately loved how I got paid a little bit earlier. The funds post as soon as they're there instead of it being held until midnight, so that was really awesome too. The savings and the text message notifications have been wonderful ways for me to manage my finances. I got the text message notifications as soon as there was any sort of transaction happening. That really helped because I knew immediately where I was at, or any time any sort of transactions would post. The savings has been wonderful. It’s allowed me to set aside money that I need to set aside for bills.
I have been able to use my NetSpend card to pay bills and make online purchases. The only place I haven't been able to use my NetSpend card oddly enough is Wendy’s. But everywhere else has been fine, except there are some places that just typically don’t accept prepaid debit cards but that’s the same with all of them. Like if I wanted to rent a car or something like that, I'd have to have a bank debit card. But I've almost never had any problems.
Every interaction with the NetSpend team has been great. I actually work at a call center myself, so it feels like the customer service now is mostly in the Philippines. They have the same accent as a lot of our workforce management does. But they have been great. So even though it seems like maybe the majority of customer service has moved to a different location, it hasn’t been a negative at all. Anytime that I've needed assistance, I've always gotten the help I needed. I've never had long hold times or anything like that. Really good customer service overall.
I just love NetSpend. It was about a year or two ago when I called in and I like that the customer service rep was like "Oh I can see that you've been with us for nine years." And I didn't even realize that I hadn't had an actual bank account for that long but I'm really happy with it. Even if I do end up getting another bank account, I'm still gonna keep my NetSpend card. I am constantly recommending NetSpend to people. I've always had great experiences. At work you know I'll be excited about getting paid Wednesday and everyone’s like oh how do you get paid on Wednesday? I’m like oh I have this card. Another thing I like about NetSpend is how you can pay either the $10 a month where there’s not any fees whenever you use your card. Or of course, it’s like the $59 for the year.
But whenever they bring up the fees, all I have to do is say “You know well how much have you spent on overdraft fees just this year alone?” And that is able to shut them up really quickly, because I might spend $10 a month so that I don't have any sort of fees when I use my card. But then my friends might have spent hundreds just within a year alone on overdraft. Which is another really awesome part about the NetSpend card is that I don’t worry about there being an overdraft fee. I think NetSpend introduced a couple months ago something where customers do have that option, but I definitely steer away from that, because that’s what got me in trouble in the first place with not being able to have a bank account.
I can't say enough good things about NetSpend. Now that they have the mobile application with it. I’m able to very easily send money to my mom when I need to, who also has a NetSpend card. I like that I can easily from my phone transfer funds from my savings account to my regular debit card. Before it wasn’t hard. I'd just have to call, but it’s so much more convenient now. And I really like all the new changes that have been made to the website. So good stuff all around.

I was at Western Union cashing my check, and they said, "You know you can have a NetSpend card and you can preload your money onto the card." So they sold me a card for $10 and I waited for it in the mail to come. I've had it ever since, been with them since 2007. And I'm glad that my mind told me to get the card that day when they were asking me to get the card.
For me it's just like a regular bank card. You use it as a debit. You can use it as a credit. It's good for my finances because my money goes right onto my card, and I feel safe when the people that take my bills take the money off my card. They won't let anybody take it off that is not a regular. If they're not a regular, they'll text you, send you a letter or let you know, or they just won't let them take it. The people taking the money will call and say, "Well, your bank didn't authorize it. You have to let them know." I love their service. They help you out pretty good, have fast service and are very accurate. I have recommended it to my mother and my brother to get the card. It’s really good.

I've really been happy with NetSpend. We were working for a company, my husband and I, selling a client's houses because they were real estate investors. They suggested NetSpend to us because they said it’s a really good card. It’s loadable, acts like a checking account, and is a debit card. And you don’t have to worry as you know that money you put on it, is balanced. So we went to our local Ace Cash Express and they were selling the NetSpend card. Got one. And both of us have had one ever since 2003.
We’ve enjoyed the card. I once went out and had four. I’ve never had an issue with anybody there. And we really love the fact that you can keep a ten thousand dollar per thirty day calendar balance on there. If they could increase it to fifteen or twenty thousand, that would be great. Because the ten thousand does let you put business transactions on your cards and move large amounts of money between your business partners’ accounts or your business accounts, if you have debit cards like that. A credit card or a bank checking account won’t let you do that. Plus transferring from person to person is free. We've had other prepaid debit cards and they don’t match NetSpend at all. And they have maybe fifteen hundred to twenty-five hundred monthly minimum you can keep on there and their fees are a little bit more than other fees for NetSpend so I don’t like their cards at all. They’re disappointing to me.
There’s one more thing I love about NetSpend: the fact that when you do transfer money, if the person needs the money and they’re standing at a check-out and don’t have the money on their card and they ask you for it, you can do the transfer and as soon as you click done, the money is on their card. We’ve never experienced a wait time of the twenty or thirty minutes that it’s taken to see the load of the money on there, whether we transferred from card to card or whether we loaded it at the store.

NetSpend was a more reasonable way for me to keep track of my money. The fees are reasonable. A lot of other cards charge you as you use it and they don’t have monthly fee plans like NetSpend does. And the direct deposit was so easy to set up. I know how much I got and how much I can spend. You can track where it goes by looking, like I get the text messages and also signed up to the website so I could track it like where all my money went this month. It helps me monitor what I need to do. I set it up to automatically withdraw payments on bills out of there like a checking account. I haven’t had any issues with it and if I have, they have been resolved fairly quickly. I lost my card one time and another time, it was demagnetized. I also had to dispute a couple of charges. And I did have one time where somebody used my card and it was a person I knew. We used it to pay one of his bills and they saved my information. He was able to go and pay it again without my authorization. That was a dispute that took a little longer, but I did get my money back. My experience overall has been pleasant.

NetSpend is basically about the same as using a bank account, except that I don't use checks anymore. And the system works really good with the notifications every time you use the card. That way you know when any time something's taken out of your account. That's one of the best things. Other than that, no monthly fees and stuff. I use NetSpend card all the time for my bills and it's totally convenient. I always recommend this card to anybody.
I use direct deposit and my check just goes on it. There's nothing tough about that at all. And the one thing I've noticed, I end up having my paycheck sooner than anybody else that I work with. They're really quick about putting money on my card. When I had to reorder another card, it was totally simple. All I had to do was call them up and took only a few minutes on the phone and I had my card about five days later. Fee-wise and loading the money, it's a totally easy card to use.

When I first opened my acct. a couple years back, it started out great. Gradually, as time went on, I noticed the fees were increasing astronomically each time I used my card. The ATM fees are ridiculously high. Then each time you charge with your card, you get another big fee. Those $1.00 and $2.00 fees accumulate quickly. Last month I spent over $30.00 just in fees using the card. Dumping this card immediately. The only good thing about this card is that your money does come a few days quicker, and the customer service has been great each issue I've called them on. But, unfortunately that's not enough to make me want to pay all those fees. It's just throwing away hard earned money away....

I love NetSpend. They’re outstanding. I’ve had no problems with them. I recommend NetSpend to everyone that I know who are trying to open up a bank account. I know NetSpend’s number by heart and I give them the number.
The only thing I don’t like about NetSpend is when you call I have to press the option for lost or stolen to actually speak to someone. If they could just have a prompt where you press this number to speak to customer service. One other thing, it can be a little frustrating when you’re speaking to someone with an accent or from another country and they don’t get what you’re saying. Don’t get me wrong, everyone needs a job. But sometimes, you just need to speak to someone from the United States. Other than that, that’s it. I really do like NetSpend.

It's been a helpful, easy to use, card account. I've had NetSpend since 2006. The whole getting paid two days earlier definitely helps. That's been a significant value so that's why I've kept the account. I don't necessarily need the extra days anymore but at some point I did so and that kind of helped. They have a pretty neat custom card. It works like any other card, and has limits like any other card, so no issue there. The fees are understandable. I pay a $5 payment plan a month and I use it how many times I need to.
Customer service has improved. The online platform, online account and website access to your statement have greatly improved. They used to be kind of Mickey Mouse and now it's a lot better. It looks like a page on an actual professional bank.

I, at the time, worked for a day labor office and thought NetSpend's prepaid debit card would be a good way to save money and build up a nice savings account. So everyday when I got off work, I would load my debit card with my whole paycheck so if I needed anything all I had to do was use my card instead of carrying cash around. However, when I decided to get a few dollars out of my account on one particular day after work they let me know I had to buy a new debit card, the card I was using was no longer valid. When I complied they began to inform me that now I would have to 'prove' my identification when I had already done this to open my account initially. Afterwards it was just one piece of a scam after another to refrain from releasing what I still have on my account!

He hadn't used it in a while and I went to put some money on his card and they were telling them that he had to answer these three questions in order to know that it's his card. We can't put money on this card and we can't activate it. We tried to get a new card and they said, "Oh you already have a card so you got to answer these three questions." It has been so long ago since I’ve had NetSpend. Originally, when I started out, it was at Ace check-cashing. I’ve been able to use it for everything but car rentals. It has helped me manage my finances because if there’s no money, you can’t overdraft. I have text alert come to my phone so I know immediately if the card is used. Typically I use direct deposit rather than NetSpend’s reload locations. The process is no different from using the bank; it’s really easy. Plus I like the fact that with direct deposit, it’s available a couple of days early.
My only interactions with the NetSpend team were when my card would wear out. I’ve had to call them to replace it and it’s not an issue. I have my card within just a couple of days. I’m really happy with NetSpend and would certainly recommend them.

I completely love NetSpend. When I call and need assistance, they always help me and they're friendly, always helpful, always fixed whatever ails me. I was at Ace check-cashing and had seen a sign there for NetSpend prepaid cards, and I asked the teller about it. She explained about it to me and I signed up right then. When my daughter got older, I thought it would be a good thing for her so she wouldn't be bouncing checks so I got her one too and we both still have them. I like the fact that I can transfer her money. I get on the computer and transfer money within seconds, if she needs money, coz she lives in Las Vegas and I live in Tennessee. When she needs help in the middle of the night, I can just get on the computer and bam, there it is.
I use my NetSpend to pay bills and purchase online too. It's convenient. I got auto-pay set up and they just take it right out and it's on its way. It's perfect. I use the direct deposit. The check goes in and I go shopping. I've never had a problem with them ever. Also, they are on top of their security. They make sure your account is secure. They'll call you if there's a problem or lock your card out if there's anything questionable going on. I love the fact that they monitor the security for that card constantly.

They were all good until July. I don't know what happened to goodness of customer service but it went south for this company. I moved to Florida from Las Vegas and they all of a sudden treated me like I was a scam artist when I was actually getting scammed. I contacted them July 8th for a service I ordered that I put a down payment on and ended up not getting service. The person I paid thru PayPal actually agreed to return the money which PayPal confirmed. But they say they have 45 days for the person I paid to prove I didn't receive service.
So I call them and they ask me when was the money reversed. I ask them to check their records I'm not the bank. I then tell them the receipt number transaction number and ask them if they need PayPal's phone number and they say, "Ma'am we are not allowed to call them." "But I thought you were investigating my claim and on your website you advertise a temporary credit will be credited if not resolved in 10 business days," I say. Not in this case they tell me.
Wow!! Really!! So basically for two months you're keeping my money that's supposed to be insured. And the day after I made claim I put it in writing and sent it to them. But they have 45 days to investigate. What's to investigate when you already have my money? Wow they even admitted they have it. They are a company that should be monitored because not only do I pay a monthly fee but $3.95 per $500 and I will not deposit one more dollar. How do I resolve this? Will the bank that they use be helpful?

I first heard about NetSpend through Money Box. I was going and buying money orders and they happened to have a debit card available, so I purchased it. I got direct deposit going. When you stop dealing with Money Box, it makes it very easy for me to load things if I have to and it makes it very easy to make use of my Mastercard at any location.
The online purchase and bill pay thru Netspend is very convenient. However I suddenly started getting warning messages that I needed to update my browser. I use Windows Vista Professional and the Internet Explorer 9 that I have is the latest version available for Windows Vista Business. NetSpend no longer supports that. I had to switch to Google just to get my NetSpend account to be able to access all functions that normally are at the top of the screen because of their banners saying that I needed to update my browser, which I don't like. Also, I don't appreciate the fact that they no longer support a product that Microsoft does. I don't like Google because it tries to take over my whole computer. I'm using it simply for NetSpend only because I have to.
When I tried to call Customer Service, I eventually got told by the second or third person I called that the NetSpend just no longer supported my version of Internet Explorer and I'd have to change it. I asked to speak to someone in information technology, supervisor or manager, and every time I asked to be transferred to someone, I got put on hold anywhere from 10-30 minutes and then ignored. No one ever got back to me on it at all. Also, I don't like NetSpend asking me to enter my card number and codes on the phone before I talk to somebody. I have a security block on my ACE Elite Card account. When I call NetSpend, someone with a strong accent tells me I will need to answer security questions with their fraud/risk department. Then I am placed on hold for (up to hours at a time), and no one ever answers. So far I have called NetSpend roughly between 20-25 times. No one ever answers the phone in the fraud department that I am transferred to. I wonder if such a department even exists.
In my own personal opinion, the people at Netspend are thieves who have stolen my money (I have $278 on my card that I can no longer access). I have heard there are hundreds of similar complaints against NetSpend and that average citizens cannot fight their shady business practices? I would contact an attorney if I had the money. Some idiot stole it while I was at the hospital and they charged about $400-$500 and I got about half of it back, which is better than nothing, especially when you’re on a fixed income. And it was handled in a timely manner.
I don’t see any difference from the old NetSpend to the new one, except for the fact that I could use my card like a credit card and make monthly payments or installments. Now I cannot do that. It’s a great inconvenience, because that’s my only way; I don’t like checks. That’s the only complaint. Everything else has been fine and I love the death benefit on the account. You know you have a solution because they know exactly what they’re doing. They’re very easy to deal with. I’ve recommended NetSpend to several people.

I've been with NetSpend a lot of years, that was the most going card years ago when I applied. I like the fact that you can get the money earlier than you normally do with the bank and with my NetSpend card I've been able to manage my finances better. Everything's been secure since I had it. I've had no problems with them, it's just that I don't like the fact that they lock your card after six transactions and take out money and you want to reload, they charge so much. I hate the fact that if people want to add money to your card, that you got to pay. You don't have to pay it when you go through the bank.

I got the Netspend card because I didn't have a bank account and wanted to have somewhere to put my money that didn't have a charge or something of that nature. I receive my money there through direct deposit and it's very easy. I just wait until the money comes in and it comes in a week earlier. I like their interest, the 5% APY. That's pretty good. It's very difficult to talk to a live person in customer service but it's been very pleasant or cordial.

I wanted a banking account that uses direct deposit and a debit card without going through a traditional bank so I got NetSpend card. I chose them because of their visibility and reputation, so I knew they had a good number of locations. And I have absolutely no complaints. Everything's just upfront, you always know what your balance is, you know what you have to spend, you know what the fees are gonna be - there's no hidden anything; it's just upfront and I've had absolutely no economic woes with the account.
I use it like I would anybody would a regular banking debit card. I use it anywhere in the country, because I do travel on occasion; I use it for all my shopping, all my bill pay online. It's convenient, its there, it always works. With your NetSpend account, you have the ability to have text messages sent to your cellphone, which alerts you to every spending transaction, which I have. Both my husband and I receive these alerts. I, on one occasion, received an alert from what I assumed was NetSpend telling me something had been compromised, enter a new PIN. I've got to wonder, who got my telephone number and knew I use NetSpend and sent me that particular text I contacted NetSpend and they said they had nothing to do with that phone message. So, you know, as with anything electronic, there's never 100% security.
I go to a NetSpend location once every three years. I paid my cellphone bill online, and according to the cellphone company or according to NetSpend, they gave them the money, so there I was, the money missing out of the bank and the phone bill is still due. As far as I was concerned, this should have been a cut-and-dry call the company, verify the information I'm presenting to you, lets go get this taken care of. This it took a month, and so I was less than pleased. I told them, I'm paying the bill again, so now I need you to find my $120, it's somewhere but it didn't go to the phone company and I don't have it, so please, find that money, do something. But it took a month. It ended up resolved to my satisfaction; it's just the time. In this day and age, it should not take that kind of time.

About a week ago, I had a problem with my card. My cell phone provider took an unauthorized payment out of my account. When I contacted them about it they told me that they didn't know what happened, but I should contact my bank right away. Well, I talked to a few people about their experiences that they have had with their banks and they had no good news to offer. "Ten days, minimum." They all told me with sympathetic looks on their faces. I'm sure you can imagine my panic. So I decided to just get it over with, and I made the customer service call. It was smooth, easy, and friendly. The nice person on the line was very helpful and knew exactly what they were doing. The whole call took just over five minutes, and the money was back into my account before I'd hung up the phone. I couldn't be more pleased, truly.

I wanted a prepaid card and went to a certain check-cashing place and NetSpend was what they had. When I started, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but as I went along, I liked it. I prefer it better than the banks. I like it the way it is because I can't overspend and it helps me much better. And I get the alert on the phone and it lets me know where I am at all times. Even when I send my granddaughter to the store for me, I can tell where she's at and when she's finished. They are very nice. If you have a complaint or anything, they get right on it, and they will go all the way through from the time that you had your deposit, to find out if there's a mistake anywhere on their part. It's a good thing to have, for people who don't manage money well and for people who do, because you can be very well in managing but if you make a mistake, you're in trouble with the bank.

I've been with NetSpend for over ten years. I got them because of the bad experiences I had with banks. I've dealt with virtually every major bank that there was at the time, and with me making the money that I was making and I kept getting $50 and $100 fees, losing thousands of dollars because I wasn't meeting the spending requirements or not using the card enough. It just was ridiculous. They didn't offer the same thing that NetSpend gives you. You can do the monthly $9.95 [unlimited] transactions or $69.95 a year. That's why I chose NetSpend and I've stayed with them, been a loyal customer for years. I get my direct deposits through them and I have no problem with with the process.
There has been a few minor issues along the way. I've had a card stolen by an ex-boyfriend and he did some charges on it. At the time, there weren't enough safety procedures in place, so I ended up losing money behind that. Then another time, there was an online transaction where someone had gained access to my card number online. They've added more safety things to protect the customers. And the only thing I'd probably change with NetSpend is that they allow us to rent a car using the card. You can pay for it online using the NetSpend card, but when you pick up the car, that's when it becomes a problem. So with the prepaid card, you cannot rent a car. But still, I've recommended them to several friends. I'll be using NetSpend until the end of time. I will never go back to another major bank and I will not go to another prepaid company. I will stay right where I am.

It's been a good experience and it's been very helpful for my family... My card got stolen a few years ago and I was able to get on the phone with them right away and made sure there were no charges on the account and for them to cancel that card out and for me to get another card. It wasn't hard at all once I gave them the information they needed.
One of the best things that I learned recently is the security with the log-in. There are things that I can do on my mobile app, but there are things that I can't. I have a part time job that uses netSpend. On 07/31/14 the business office at my doctor’s office contacted me and informed me an audit was done and I overpaid for delivery services (I was given an estimate of the cost of delivering my child which totaled $600.00). The business office stated it was discovered that my insurance paid more and I would receive a credit of $567.00. The business office asked what card would I like to use to receive the refund. I chose my netSpend but also asked if I could call the customer service to verify. I called netSpend to verify I would be able to have the money deposited on the netSpend card. The customer service rep said it was fine.
The next day I checked my balance and found out there a block on my account. When I called netSpend and asked why is there a block on my account the customer service rep and supervisor informed me the credit had to be verified. Both stated I will need to send in the original receipt from the payment to my doctor’s office. I then spoke to the business office who stated it has two receipts but cannot locate the third due to a computer crash. I then contacted netSpend and informed the supervisor and customer service rep that the business office cannot locate the third receipt. I was then told to ask the business office to void out the credit. The administrator for the business office stated this cannot be done.
I then relayed this information to the customer service rep and the supervisor who told me there is nothing else netSpend can do and I have the two options - provide all receipts or the business office has to void the credit. I then asked both of them if there is a concern of the credit being fraudulent why doesn't netSpend "risk management" contact the business office directly. I was then informed netSpend cannot and it is the customer's responsibility. This is a mess I am so frustrated about no resolution from this company and how they refuse to work with a customer. The other issue is I am not able to even access my direct deposit which comes directly from a major retailer! Something needs to be done. I refuse to be given excuses and this company has not attempted to work with me at all. I have been reading previous comments and what really concerns me is others may not be as fortunate and depend on this money and to be given the "run around" is unethical.

I purchased a $500 Netspend Reload Pack from Walgreens on June 10, 2014 at 9:16 pm. The reload pack was made of cardboard material and when I used a coin to scratch view the activation code - in doing so, two of the numbers were rubbed off and ineligible. Since then, I've scanned all the documents they required such as receipt, front, and back of Netspend Reload Pack, etc.. also including my contact information. I send the email to disputes and get a return stating all my documents have been received and to expect a refund with the next 10 business days. Well, somehow, the receipt from Walgreens wasn't to their liking. I did not receive a call or email back from them stating such - instead, I had to call and find why I still had not received my funds. There is NO contact number to the disputes department for me to follow-up.. and no flow of information from them which is why I attempted to have a supervisor on the line twice.. both times, the line was disconnected.
I am left paying another $90 late fee for my rent (2nd time) and still have no resolution other than.. "I'M SORRY, YOU HAVE TO WAIT 10 BUSINESS DAYS.. I'm SORRY, you still have to wait the 10 business days". There HAS to be a LAW against such a business policy or lack thereof. I will NEVER use this type of service from NETSPEND again and I do hope that others will join in a class action lawsuit in the near future - I certainly will be because these types of issues can be quickly resolved without severely impacting the livelihood of customers. Netspend appears to have a "black hole" dispute process and does not care how that affects the people they serve. Perhaps this is done to prolong the process and keep our money; knowing interest will not be paid?? I've NEVER been so disappointed in a business until now. I was HUNG-UP on TWICE by a Representative after being asked to speak to a Supervisor.

It’s more inexpensive than having a credit card. It is not chewing my money. With NetSpend, I don’t have to carry cash. It’s good for the internet or in stores; it’s a very versatile card.
I do reloads through direct deposit. Sometimes I use Western Union when I have a check, if it’s not going directly to my account. And scheduling bill pay for everyone that I owe is a big plus. As a rule, if there’s a dispute, NetSpend handles it quite right away. If I have a question, they answer it either by email or else I can talk to a representative by phone, and they are prompt. They know what they’re doing; you don’t have to wait 10 or 20 minutes to get a response or “Hold on, let me get so-and-so.” Their reps are pretty knowledgeable about their business. I've had NetSpend for probably about 8 years or better. Their reps are mostly foreigners. Sometimes they don't understand English that well, and you have to tell them things a couple of times. However using direct deposit through NetSpend is not a difficult process at all. And I would like to have its overdraft protection that I had on another card. I just didn't take the time to do it on this card.

When I contacted them to see what was going on they wanted my personal information (which I declined) then they said that they "work" with financial companies and they ordered the card for me. Of the 2 banking companies I work with they neither have used this company, and NetSpend wouldn't tell me who ordered it for me. I never received the card. Don't use, don't give your information to them.

I first heard about NetSpend through my job, work on writing. I think a friend told me about it. I just wanted to try something different so decided to get a NetSpend card. I was trying to find out a different prepaid company because it was the fees and there’s no charges in terms of transactions and stuff like that. I utilize the direct deposit. Process was easy. Your direct deposit gets into your account much earlier, one or two days earlier. I’ve managed my finances - paying bills - better.
If there’s a problem with the website, I usually call, like if I can’t get them online. A few years ago, I had a problem when I got my tax check and I couldn’t deposit the whole thing in the account for some reason. But other than that, that’s it. I’d recommend NetSpend.

A friend of mine had told me NetSpend was very good, so I just went. So they were saying it’s the best one out there - most reasonable at the time. I’ve been with NetSpend for about five or six years. One day I was in the card exchange and picked up one of the applications and filled it out, and I’ve had NetSpend ever since. I got a direct deposit goes into that. So far, I have managed my finances better. I haven’t had anybody messing with it or tried to get into it other than myself. And it’s safe; it keeps you from moving around with a bunch of money in your pocket.
When I call to get account of something or have questions about, they’ve always been great, treated with priority. It turns out to be okay. And if I have a question about something that happened, NetSpend took care of it. I have no problems about it. For five years, I would recommend NetSpend, as far as I’m concerned. They took care of my question or something that has to be taken care of.

I was with Netspend for 5 years and never had a problem until recently. I purchased a reload pack from Walgreens and tried to load my card on June 8, 2014. However, the system did not recognize the numbers so I was transferred to customer service, they asked me to fax in the back of the card and a copy of the receipt, which I did. I was also told to include my telephone number, reference number and address (all of which I did). I called in two days later to confirm that they received my fax (even though, according to customer service, the dispute's department was supposed to call me), that's when I was told that I also had to send in a letter stating the full issues, which I did on June 12, 2014.
I was then told that the issue would be resolved within 10 business days but it is now July 10, 2014 and I am still waiting for my money to be released. I have tried to call Netspend several times but I only get directed to customer service and they do not have any information to give me other than the fact that the dispute department has received my faxes.
Netspend does not have a way for their customers to reach the dispute center which I believe they should be mandated provided the ineffectiveness of their current system. My reload pack was for close to $400.00, luckily I have the cash to spare where not having access to these funds is not as detrimental but I have to question for myself and others, what if this wasn't the case? How many people have had to incur late fees, etc. because their money was held up? I believe that the loss of funds associated with their ineffective dispute process may provide grounds for a class action suit for the possible thousands who have faced financial burdens due to Netspend.
To Netspend, I have already been involved in another class action suit due to the company's failure to uphold their fiduciary responsibility and I am more than willing to involve myself in another one to ensure that these issues are fixed so that other consumers do not have to go through the same thing. I included my reference number in the option with consumer affairs, and I have also checked off the option to have an attorney contact me regarding my complaint.

I have been going back and forth with the customer service department and no one can give me a status update! I even spoke to a supervisor who said he was going to contact them for me and ask them to contact me but still I haven't heard anything. My account was overdrawn $100 and I kept telling them that my direct deposit was coming in and I couldn't afford to lose any more money but they were completely unconcerned with my problem. I will never use them again as soon as I get all my money back!!

I’ve been with NetSpend for around 15-20 years. I’m 65 years old, and I’m a real busy man. I’m in the insurance business and got several cards. Many times I use a card for this and a card for that and then I got a personal card. At times, I needed to know about a transfer on a card that was outdated, whether everything was transferred and in which card it went to. NetSpend has always helped me every time I call. It’s like a secretary that takes care of my business when I got my hands on a lot of things, and I don’t have to worry because I know everything is all right. I know my business is taken care of.
NetSpend is a lifesaver. They make life easy for me. They just keep doing what they do, and I like what they do for me. Nothing to complain about.

This far exceeds any prepaid card I've known. Netspend has great customer service too. 9.95 is a small price to pay for getting your funds this early.

I love NetSpend better than I love my bank account. It's simple, efficient, easy, trustworthy and awesome! I use it to make purchases online, to buy or pay everywhere. I can pay bills. I can use it as a bank account. I can have money transferred directly to my ACE, which I do. I use it a lot like the way you use your bank account, and I do have two other bank accounts. There are no surprise charges ever. You pay one fee once month, you're covered and you're good. The nice thing that I like about it is there are no overdrafts and so no overcharge.
With banks, sometimes if you have a couple of cents missing in the account, they charge you for that. NetSpend will never do that. In fact, a couple of times it happened that I didn't have enough money in my NetSpend and NetSpend covered my payment, which is unheard of; the bank wouldn't do that. If they do, they'd charge you. It's easy to use the deposit to all the big grocery markets. I just go to the market, whatever market I go to, like Safeway, and I use Safeway to upload money if I need to. Whenever I have a problem, they took care of it right away. Pretty good customer service too.

I went into a Money Box to cash a check and I saw the card there. I asked the girl about it and she told me a little bit about it and gave me a Money Box card and then from there it went on. I've been a member since ’07. Since then I do direct deposit and the life benefits. It works for me than to have to go to a bank or use a real credit card. I’m able to use that card anywhere. I use it more for when I go on trips or conferences and I don’t want to carry a bunch of cash. I just load it on to my netSpend card. Also, I have friends who ask me for money, and I can tell them, “I don’t have any cash.”

My husband had a NetSpend before I did. I got it because I thought it was the easy way to have a card that I can use instead of actually having to have credit card charges. It helped me manage my finances better sometimes, not always. I'm often transferring money from my husband's account to mine, because he has his automatically deposited, and transferring money was very easy. It's also been useful when we've been traveling and had to do hotels or something. I would think it'd probably be one of the best things. I can use it as a credit card when I need to book something and I don't have to worry about paying my monthly payment. And when my card once got compromised, they reacted very quickly. They were really good.

I’m one of the original netSpend customers from whenever it was first rolled out. I manage my stuff better because I can access it online all the time. I can transfer money back and forth between the accounts, and my checks usually go a little bit early with direct deposit. It’s one of the best aspects of it that I really like. The main safety benefit I get from it is the virtual card. It’s one of the best features because I shop online quite a bit on eBay and Amazon, and I don’t give them my credit card number, but with the virtual card I can do that. I also have my check go to direct deposit. It’s an easy process because the form is already online. You just log in to the website and you go to direct deposit and print the form out and pre-populate. That’s about as simple as it gets.
I've recommended netSpend to several people. But as far as rating their customer experience, that’s not too good. The interactions that I have with the team are not quite so good though. The security process that they have where they ask you random questions on the security process, but instead of it being information that the customer chooses, netSpend chose to use information from public records, which are often inaccurate. So when they ask you, “Which of these four streets is closest to you?” you have no earthly idea where those streets are. You end up locked out of your own information. So that’s been a very frustrating part of it. Another interaction is they've changed with the customer service and they've gone to a scripting method. They follow a script to the T and if you deviate in your answer to the questions, it’s just like talking to a robot. If you ask something that’s not in the script, then it does not compute. So that’s extremely frustrating.

After reading through some of these reviews, I see that a lot of us are having the same issue. It seems that any check that is deposited by the US Treasury just isn't going to make it into your account for some illegal reason. I am a disabled vet and receive service connection due to injuries that I received while serving. Every one of the checks that was deposited into that account had to be traced. EVERY ONE!!! I rely on that money as I am not able to work and I never know when I am going to receive it, making paying bills and rent agony.
I switched banks to Chase and have not had a problem since. I also am one of the lucky guys that seems to have the case of the disappearing income tax refund that cost me 30 dollars to just be stolen. Customer service is useless. Supervisors are useless. I am calling up the Veterans Affairs regional office today and have them investigated. Once the news hears about disabled vets not being able to pay their rent, especially with all the things going on with the VA now...we may get our money. I am only keeping the damned account open, because, as usual, I am having another check traced from March 1st. Who knows when I'll get it. They refuse to give me any information where my money went besides the IRS. I spoke to the IRS 3 times & they have not received any monies on my behalf. NetSpend has giving me numerous stories as to why my money was taken out. I have not received anything from netSpend in writing about this matter.
First they said the IRS closed my account & took the money due to 2 deposits that was deposited in my account in 2013 & that my account was fraudulent. The next thing was the IRS told them to close my account & they sent the monies back on May 22, 2014 & the IRS received it on June 11, 2014. Again, I have spoken to the IRS & they have no money on my behalf, nor have they taken any monies from me, nor do they know anything about this situation. I have been with netSpend about 5-6 years & I have never had this problem. I allowed my aunt to receive her federal taxes in my account & she received her money. I didn’t authorize a state to be deposited & neither did she. In fact she is suing the tax preparer for her state income tax because it went to her account.
I have no idea where my money is. NetSpend isn't allowing me to speak with the fraud department. I have reasons to believe somebody with my information has used my identity to call netSpend & use my account without my knowledge & also used the identity of an IRS agent to have my account closed & monies transferred out. I also called Bancorp & they have no account on file for me. Where is my money? I trusted netSpend with my money & I have been robbed with a non-logical explanation or any info that can help me obtain my monies back. It all started yesterday after I made a purchase my account. Cards were blocked and I was told I need to call customer service. So, I called and not a single person could tell me why I have a block on my account and now I'm stuck without any money when I'm leaving the state I'm in tomorrow. My issue was never resolved as all I got from everyone is that there's nothing they can do, after speaking with 3 different people including a supervisor. The first person I spoke with, didn't have a clue about a thing going on and literally had me on hold the whole conversation without even asking me or telling me, then proceeded to transfer me to someone else mid-sentence.
The second person I spoke with, told me straight out he had no idea what was going on with my account same with the supervisor, so now after my wife putting her paycheck on the card, I now have no money and no idea why my account got blocked when I had just made a purchase an hour before that. Then the kicker is the fact that my account is in the positive but I received a balance alert and email stating that my account is overdrawn and I now have an overdraft fee on my account. The email went on to state that I'm overdrawn the amount that is in my account right now. This is horrible customer service, that you block someone's account for no reason, then provided no information when it's your system that tells you to call in to get it fixed. I will make sure I get a hold of a lawyer about this matter if I miss my flight due to not having any money to make it to the airport, as this whole fiasco would cause me to lose money on the plane tickets I bought.
