I made a online payment to post 3 days before due date and the payment was returned on my due date unknown to my knowledge and charges me late fee of $25.00 - I don't even know why the payment was returned in the first place! I only knew this 2 days after my due date and I checked my bank account and I saw the payment had not been extracted from my account. It's Saturday night and I tried calling them but of course no live customer service but the automated service states payment posted on the 12th then payment returned on 15th (my due date is the 15th) and yes, I have money in bank to cover payment.. No reason why payment was returned! No courtesy email or call - just returns payment on my due date and charges me late fee.

I have had a Credit One account for several years. Foolish me! I have paid it off several times only to use it again. They are the ONLY company that charges a fee at least of the 10 creditors that I deal with to pay your payment over the phone. (Free if you pay online.) I have always kept my account in good standing. Maybe the balance was high, however I paid it on time. I have been very ill and unable to make this payment and I tried to call them and let them know. I was on hold 25 minutes. Nurses running in and out of the room. Once I got home, I could not log into my account. I was 10 days late at this time and need to pay $60.00. So I called the company at the number on the website (24 hours a day), they were closed. The next morning a very RUDE man with an India thick accent told me my account balance was $$$ and I BETTER pay right NOW. I said "Excuse me, I do not know who you are, but you do not disrespect me. There is a reason my usual promptness has not been met this month and you will NOT talk to me like that."
He told me then I BETTER pay 60.00. I told him he better have someone with some customer service call me because he wasn't getting credit for collecting ANYTHING from me. So again I went to the computer to try to make the payment. My user name and password would not work. I went through the process and received a new one. The form said it was accepted and complete return to the login to make a payment. I did. Password and username did not work. I closed the window, went to my e-mail to see if there were any kind of e-mail stating a problem. No, there was not. So I called the automated number. Now this time (within minutes of the man calling) it stated I owe $87.00 payment, not $60.00 as HE stated and what my statement stated and the closing date has not occurred. I cannot talk to anyone to pay. I cannot access the website. The man added some sort of charge to my account. I do not want to cancel the account because it is an old account with a good history.
I AM calling the BBB and filing a lawsuit first thing on Monday if I cannot find someone willing to reverse this charge made in retaliation. Why are they having people who obviously cannot speak English, obviously have no respect for whom they are talking to, and it certainly is NOT customer service. I am to the point of saying to heck with it. Closing the account out and paying them the bare minimum till frogs grow hair!

I was approved for a $300 limit. When I received the card, all $300 was available so I used it. The next day, a $75 charge appeared. Granted that did upset me. But that wasn't my problem. When I made a regular FREE payment from my checking account, days passed & the payment was never debited. A week later, I logged on to the card website to see that the payment was reversed. I couldn't believe it. I called customer service (out of the country) to find out what happened. When I went over my bank account information, they claimed that I accidentally added an extra zero on the end of my checking account. Twice.
COME ON NOW! I knew at that moment that Credit One was a scam. I knew it because you're only given two electronic payment options. Free with your checking account or $9.95 fee to pay with your debit card. There's no way in this life I would enter my checking account number incorrectly twice in a row. They did this to frustrate and trap a customer into paying that $9.95 payment service fee. I reentered my checking account info again 3 days ago and the money still hasn't been debited. If they do the same thing, I'm filing a complaint with the consumer financial protection bureau. Don't do business with this company. It isn't worth it.

I recently lost my job and unable to make my payment on time. The very next day a lady calls demanding a 50.00 payment instead of 25.00. The conversation didn't go well! So I blocked the number to go straight to my voice mail. Well, now they are calling me from different states everyday and they call 10 times a day - no joke! I worked for a collection agency and yeah I know my payment is late but this is harassment.

I applied for their credit card, received it, and found I was charged a $75 annual fee, which they did not disclose on the application, plus $6.95 for the card design, then thinking I did not have a balance. I was out of town when the card came in and found I was charged a $25 late fee on top of the other charges, and I HAVE NOT EVEN USED THE CARD. I am so disappointed with this company. I advise NO ONE to apply for this card. They will not refund any of the monies I have paid for a card I have not used. It should be against the law, and on top of everything else, their annual rate is 23.90. BAD CHOICE ON MY PART.

Good:
I was approved for $400 even though I am in the middle of a Chapter 13 bankruptcy (meaning I am paying it off and haven't gotten it discharged yet). My credit score is 633. I was never asked for income information or any other documentation. My card worked the first time I tried to use it at a major grocery store chain gas station. When I called CO, the lady I spoke to spoke English well.
Bad:
I never asked for a card for my wife, but I did want one. When my card arrived, they sent one for her, too! I accepted an online offer. It never mentioned her or asked me if I wanted an authorized user. I wanted one so I kept expecting it. I was never prompted. How did they even know my wife's name?! I called Credit One. The lady I spoke to said an automated machine (an automated phone call) requested it. Baloney! Today was the first day I have ever called Credit One. I asked the lady if she had my wife's SSN. She said no. Since when in this day and age does a bank issue a credit card without having the SSN of the cardholder on record, even if it is just an authorized user? I gave the lady my wife's SSN since I do want this reported to the credit bureaus. Let's see how this pans out. She said they report to the three credit bureaus every 30 days.
Available credit data: Which one is right? My account was opened and initial fees of $45 annual fee and $19 authorized user fee were posted. I bought gas for $49. I made a payment to CO of $113. I signed up for daily emails for my account balance and available credit. They reflect the numbers I expect of available credit $400 and balance of $0. The website snapshot and the automated phone system don't. They show available $287. Plus, the phone system says my payment won't be available for another 4 business days even though my payment did post to the account on Aug 8th. This appears to be because CO has not yet charged my bank account. Let's see how this pans out.

After having this card, I have a second thought. Trying to build credit but these people on Sunday give me a call about payment when it due on the 15 of the month and today only the 10. Payment already made but they want to make extra 25$ just in case the payment have not posted. That is the girl said. Credit card only call when you are late or something wrong. They bothering people on the weekend and something not necessary plus they charge you fee when they said no fee at first. I am going to close this card. Isn't worth it. Not recommend to anyone. You rather go to Bank of America or Wells Fargo. Give them 500$ and get the security card to build credit than deal with these people.

So as of 8/8/14, I activated my Credit One Bank card with a credit limit of $300. Not much but it’s been a long time since anyone has approved me for a credit card because my score is low. So I thought okay great, I got a foot in the door to start trying to rebuild my credit. I didn't know they charge a fee of $6.95 to pick a certain design for your card. Nowhere on their website did I remember reading that but okay, not big deal. When the first bill comes out I'll pay on time and start successful and on the right path with this card $.
Now I wake up this morning 8/9/14 to check my account in which I often do because I don't trust companies & I have a new balance of $81.95 =-0??? What happened. I only spent $10 plus the $6.95 I owe for the design. How did I get from $6.95 to $81.95 in under 24 hours of using the card for the first time ever of only spending $10? Do they charge you $50 to spend $10. This card is nothing what I thought it would be. Don't waste your time. If they offer you a letter in the mail telling you your pre-approved let the dog pee on it, light it on fire and flush it down the toilet because by the time you even begin to pay all the misc fees, it won't even be worth your time and money to try a raise your score.
I'm appalled with this card because when I talk to customer service just yesterday the lady told me my due date wouldn't be for a while, and I couldn't change my due date until a billing cycle of two months. I never seen a credit card that didn't even take a least 25 or 30 days to go through a normal billing cycle before you start owing them but the next day is completely ridiculous!!! My advice to anyone who reads this post is if you’re looking to rebuild your credit in which this day and age 92% are, do it the legit way with a company that is truly going to try and help you and not scam and lie and charge you a fee just because it’s another day of you being a cardholder with their company.
Apply with Capital One for a secured card. You'll have to make a deposit of $49, $99, or $200 or more if you want a higher credit limit but it’s worth it because they’re not charging you every day high fees just to touch the card. Or try Lexington Law, they may charge you a minimum of $100 to take your files and start you off, but I guarantee over time your score will increase & your debts will decrease and you'll be able to get the credit card you truly deserve. I took what I thought was the quick and easy way to lift my score over time but I was tricked with applying for this card. I'm going to pay off my balance, cancel my card, and run like hell!!

I am not sure I want this card after I applied for it to rebuild my credit. I received the card and was unable to activate because they said they needed additional verification of my address, such as a government issued ID or utility bill. In all my years of having credit cards no one has asked me for that and they don't use faxes or emails. What century are they in?

BAD, VERY BAD BANK. I wrote a check for the balance due and a big note, PLEASE CANCEL ACCOUNT. Asked somebody to call for me to confirm that the account is closed since I am away for a while, and they said this is not sufficient to close the account. The interest on this account is so high that out of a loan of 400 dollars and a monthly payment of 25, monthly fees are 8.25 and interest 8.3. Only 8.45 goes to amortize account.

Credit One Bank is supposed to help people fix their credit. They gave me a credit limit of $300. The first time I went to use it to get some groceries they would not process the purchase. The amount was $175.00. Little did I know that their card cost me $75 and then another $50 in "set up fees". If I had the choice, I would never get their card again. I know after I get this paid off, I will never use it again. I did not know they charges $2.00 for a statement either. Thanks for your post, it was a great help.

I had misplaced my card and called customer service and at that time I told them I had misplaced it. The person I talked to said that they would put a 48 hour hold on my account and if I found my card before the 48 hours was up, that they would not suspend and call it lost or stolen. I did find my card that very night so I then call to verify that I found it. At that time I thought it was settled but when I went online I was unable to sign on because it said account is temporary suspended.
When I call and talk to someone I know, on average I speak to 3 people including supervisors, managers and to this day still unable to get into my account. They want me to give all my info over the phone to someone in another country even after I had already given it. I don't think it is right that I can't pay my bill the way I want and I'm still getting charged interest each day. I even told them I no longer wanted the card at this point, all I wanted to do is pay it off but I just want to keep record of the transaction. So all I can say is don't misplace your card and do the right thing because you will never get back on. I feel this company is not doing the job they should. I feel as long as I can't pay online I should not be charged interest. I feel like they get bent because I call every day to get results and everyday I'm disappointed. I also had a few hang up when I ask to see progress. I know I will not use this.

I was traveling and tried to use my Credit One CC 4 different times. Each time, my card was declined. Credit One told me the businesses were RISKY BUSINESSES. Hertz Rental, Foot Locker, and Sears are RISKY?? I'm not buying it. Then they told me my account may have been compromised so they sent out a new card. Now when I swipe my card, a signature is NEVER required. I called customer service and asked if this was a new practice and I was told the stores I was using the new card in must be RISKY as well... I recently applied for a Credit One credit card and was approved with a $300 limit. One week following approval, I received a letter in the mail from Credit One asking for a copy of my driver's license, SS card, W2 form and utility bill in order to complete the application process (it's just a credit card with a $300 limit, not a mortgage). The letter also stated that if I did not send the documents within 30 days, the application would be considered canceled by me. I may have less than perfect credit but I'm not ignorant or desperate enough to send personal information to credit sharks. I will continue to use more traditional and legal methods to help restore credit. Consider my application canceled.

I too, as a lot of the posts, received this card, as a suggestion from Credit Karma. I have had nothing but a big headache since. First, the 75$ fee, which is outrageous, unknown. And not specified to me. Phone call to them got nowhere. Then, today, went shopping, card declined. Made FULL PAYMENT 3 days ago. WTF. Called them, and they tell me that it doesn't post for 9 days. I have other cards and NEVER, NEVER, ever had this problem. Embarrassing. Called them. Rude, would not budge. Spoke to supervisor. Tells me payment thru bank account is "a check". I said "no, it's cash. " She got very indignant and would not release the card to pay for purchase. Will be closing this account, making complaint, and will let Credit Karma know.

Do NOT apply for this card! Nothing but problems! I applied for the card in May. I received an email stating my card would be mailed within 7-10 days. I kept waiting so I decided to call Credit One on 5/17 and talked to customer service. They told me the card was mailed and I told him I never received it. They mailed out another second and said I should receive it in 7-10 days. On 6/12 I still haven't received the card so I called back and talked to Nancy. Nancy mailed out another card of which I never received. On 7/22 I called and talked to Allen. I explained I never received the previous two cards and asked what the heck was going on. Allen mailed out another card which I finally received on 8/2.
I managed to make a small charge on my card this morning. I registered for an online account with them and for some reason I cannot access my account online, really? Is this so I cannot see my balance or statements? I am so sick of this card. I am closing it out. Credit One is a bunch of scammers!

Every month 5 days before my bill is due, I get excessive calls from them with no messages left. I finally answer after about call #10, to be asked for a payment. When I decline and say I will pay on the due date, they get pushy. They ask for me to verify my SS# and to tell them how much I am going to pay.
I have asked to speak to a supervisor only to get another rude even more pushy person on the phone. I feel bullied every month. I have made all of my payments on time with no late fees. I don't even know where to begin with this "bank." I had it open for a year, before I realized they were the worst credit card company. After I closed it, I made sure to dispose of the card just so I do not get tempted to use. I was slowly paying off the remainder of the balance until my computer broke down and I lost my password for the online access to make payments. Now, in order to reset your password, you need to provide your account number, expiration date, and last 3 digits on the back of the card. Since I cut up the card months before, I no longer had it in my possession.
I called in and spoke with a representative who explained that they wouldn't release any information to me AFTER verifying my social security number and address... I asked for alternatives and they told me to pay over the phone which has a $15 fee.... are you kidding me??? So she offered me to report my card as "lost" so they can send me a new card which I can then create a new account on the website. Sounded reasonable, so I agreed until she said there would be a $25 charge for a replacement..... After arguing back and forth, they decided to waive it, but then offered me to extend my credit limit for $200 more BUT with a charge of $20 to increase...
I mean really.. these people have some nerve.. I understand they have to follow the policy but the service is terrible. It is the most inconvenient bank I have ever dealt with. I have bad credit due to collection accounts. Only Credit One and First Premier will issue me a credit card which is necessary in order to re-build my credit. I decided to apply for a Credit One card because First Premier sets borrowers up to default on their credit cards with multiple fees and a 36.99% interest rate. Credit One has a first year fee of $75 which after the first year becomes a $6.25 monthly service charge and 23.90% interest rate.
I understand that I'm a poor credit risk to credit card companies and that I must make at least the minimum monthly payment on time to keep my account in good standing. It is also a bad idea to max out the credit limit. This card is a chance to show credit worthiness and should be treated as such. I haven't heard from them since so I figured they dropped all the charges and now all of a sudden I get a certified letter from them stating unless I pay them, they will sue me. Um hello, where is my paperwork I asked for back in Nov?

They do not help in any way and the managerial personnel sucks also!!!!!!! They do not help either!!!!!!! When I told them what my balance should read, they said I see this amount. I told them I can read, how many people call and tell you their account balance is correct?????? Please beware of this company as they are scam artists and will take you for every cent that you have. They need to be shut down and the Attorney General's Office in Nevada needs to do this.
They are a fraudulent company that charges high interest rates and charges your card for no reason. When I asked them what the last transaction was that I made they could not tell me. So right there they are fraudulent billing practices. Please do not get caught in their web!!!! When I first got approved for this card, it was to rebuild my credit. Yes like everyone else it seemed great. Increases on credit periodically. I started seeing fraudulent charges on my statements. I called them and tried to work with them on getting these charges taken care of. During this I discovered they had sent an additional card to the thief that was using my account. When I called to inform them and to cancel that card, they acted as if I was the criminal. After months of fighting with the credit card company, I am still attempting to get the account closed and be done with this company.
EVERY month when I receive my statement, I have more charges on it. I have cut up the card, told them to cancel every card they have in my name (that they sent out to the wrong people) and to not authorize ANY transactions. I call every month and every month I get nowhere with these people. IF YOU WANT A CREDIT CARD TO REBUILD YOUR CREDIT OR FOR ANY OTHER REASON, DO NOT PICK CREDIT ONE. So, I call customer service and they explain that they send those so they can get more information to verify my identity. Ok I guess. So the lady tells me to send over a copy of my SSN and utility bill. Ok so I send it out June 3. June 5th I get a bill for my UNACTIVATED card. I call them up again a few days before the due date asking if they got my information. Nope. I was told to call again the week after. So I gave them another 2 weeks.
Called today July 2 and guess what they got my information BUT still need more??? This has to be the dumbest company ever. The $100 should be available to you the next day. Instead they took my money and placed a 8 day hold on the card. Every time you call, you will speak to someone who barely speaks English. They will tell you a bunch of lies and you will receive a different lie from a new representative every time you call for the same situation. SO SORRY I TOOK A CHANCE WITH THIS CARD. Lots of people like to complain about Credit One Bank but what they are failing to realize is that it has a very specific purpose. I don't even think credit one bank will give credit to anybody with average to good credit, its ONLY FOR BAD CREDIT PEOPLE. The fact that you have a card (like me) means your credit was screwed up. Whether it was your fault or not, does not matter. I personally could not be happier with the card. It has served its purpose for me, and at the 1 year mark I will be asking them for a couple things:
2) Waive all card fees
3) Lower rate
If I do not get at least #1 and #2, I will cancel on the spot. Regarding the card, I still could not be happier, but now that I have other higher limit credit cards it's time to fire Credit One Bank. My husband and I opened a Credit One account this year to help improve his line of credit. We had a foreclosure in the past. Last week, we had gone away for our anniversary and put a $75 hold on our card for room charges, TV, bar tab, etc, on June 9. The day after checking out of the hotel, Wednesday, we called Credit One and were told the hold would be released in 24 to 48 hours from checkout. On Friday, we again called as it had not been credited and were told that ALL holds are kept for 7 days and our card would be credited June 17, which was 8 days from the initial hold. Today, June 17, still no credit. I called and was told that holds are kept 7-10 days. At which point I confront about the other two times being told. The woman states that it was a misunderstanding on our part. Actually I know online it stated the 17th. So I say "So you are guaranteeing that the credit will be there Thursday, the 19th, which is ten days". Her answer "It SHOULD be. Sorry for any inconvenience". We don't want to take a hit to our credit, but if this is how they lie, then as soon as the card is paid off we will be cancelling it, and they were informed of such.

About three years ago I started rebuilding my credit. I started out with 2 secured credit cards and made on time payments for over a year. I wanted to add an unsecured credit card to my portfolio so I went with Credit One. My credit was still shaky at the time and I felt this was the best route for me. It took a while to receive the card. That is my only complaint. I have read some of these posts and it really sounds like a nightmare for some people. My advice.... read the fine print. It's not a very wise move to apply for credit with a bank and not know the terms. Very unwise.
I received my card and of course on the first statement was the annual fee. It was $75 which is exactly what they told me. I made sure I made on time payments and every payment I submitted posted when they promised and was available when they promised. Knowing there is a difference between posting and availability, everything went as expected. I used this card strictly for recurring monthly accounts like my gym, Netflix and Pandora and I used it responsibly because IT IS a rebuilding card for people who have BAD CREDIT and those cards can carry fees and penalties.
I am now closing my account but again because I read their terms and conditions, I understand that after I make my last payment there may be a possibility of a balance BECAUSE they charge interest the day after you make a purchase. There is no 30 day grace period and they state that. This was a great card to help me get my credit straight, and because there are severe penalties and fees for late payments, I learned to take care of business properly and use it responsibly. This was not a bad card.

I decided to give the company a call to find out what the issue was. I was told that my account was closed. I asked the rep why they did not send a letter or a notice of this and his reply was we did! They never sent out any notice. He then told me to hold while he checked my account and then he responded by saying that they do not send out letters or notices of closed accounts.
I'm highly upset with this company and the poor customer service. A notice or letter would have made me feel a lot better instead of being embarrassed by my card declining, and misleading account stating that everything is active and up to date.

I have poor credit (about 590). When I was a teen I had a credit card. I overdrafted by a couple hundred dollars, had an issue with Sprint bill of about $200 and then lost my job in my early 20's causing my car to be repossessed. Add a deferred student loan and no other credit and you can't get a credit card from anyone... EXCEPT Credit One Bank. I had to pre-load the card with $300.00. Every month without fail I attempt to log into the website to make a payment and receive an error message that my account has been 'suspended'. This started to happen on my second month! I have made multiple requests for them to fix their website since then and at this point it appears they are purposefully locking the site when payments are due so that a late fee can be charged.
Interest is high and I do NOT recommend getting a credit card with this company. The only thing this company has done for me is get me offers from better reputable companies. If you absolutely cannot get a card from anyone else I suggest only using a VERY small amount of credit in order to lure in the GOOD companies, then do everything you can to pay off your balance and cancel the card immediately. But honestly, even that is not recommended as I see the charges for just $10.00 in gas rack up and aren't worth the fees you pay.
Customer service hasn't been rude but they don't help resolve issues. IMPORTANT TIP FOR CURRENT CUSTOMERS: if you see the site is 'down' or 'suspending/locking' your account, create a new id and password every single month before your payment is due to get into the account. It's the only workaround that has helped me to make payments as customer service is of no help. I'm cancelling this card in the next few months. Good Riddance!

They told me this two days ago and I checked CreditKarma.com today and lo and behold they have closed my account? What a scam! My payments are all up to date and the ONLY issue I ever had was the wrong routing number on two payments I made IN THE SAME MONTH to try and bring down my balance in good faith. That said, pay the bill in full and use the card to pay your bills. If your limit is $400.00 pay the $400.00. Then pay your phone, cable, gas, groceries, then pay it again on the next pay and repeat. Again make the card work for you... STOP complaining...

That's strange, this is the first time I have ever applied for a credit card with Credit One. I have read numerous reviews about Credit One bank credit card. I find it quite hilarious that people are complaining about paying their bills on time on only a 300 dollar credit limit... The card was designed to provide credit for those who do not qualify for a higher credit limit with lower APR rates. The card charges a fee because those who apply usually have bad credit. The Bank protects itself from default by charging you fees that it can recoup in the likelihood that one defaults on their credit. They also call you if you are late because the majority of Credit One card holder have a history of defaulting or not paying their bills on time.
There is no scam whatsoever. It is a financial product that provides credit and emergency money for individuals who need it. It is a tool that if used responsibly can help rebuild one's credit. Responsibility is key to effectively getting the most out of any credit card product including Credit One Bank. Once an individual pays their bills on time and keeps a low balance, Credit one will reward you buy raising the limit on the card. This should only be used to build one's credit back up. Once your credit score is an acceptable range 670+ this card should be cancelled as you will qualify for much better Credit cards that will provide a higher credit limit with low APR. Responsibility and spending within one's means is key.

I try to payments however every couple of payments they always say they didn't get one and a late fee is charged to my account. I have had credit issues in the past and Capital One worked with me; however, they will not. I have canceled my card and wish I had the funds available to pay off this count; however, I don't. Credit One Bank credit card is an India SCAM. False advertisement saying you’re automatically eligible for x number of credit and when you receive the card is only good for $300. You incur annual fees charged to your account before you even receive the card in the mail and before you activate it. Also a selection of design of the card is charged. This total is about $109 out of maximum amount of $300 credit line in which only $75 can be taken out for cash. The interest is 23%+ which is ridicules. When you call an obvious American number you will find that you are talking to some scammers in India who are rude and are trying to get more personal information from you.
Payments online is impossible which is another game so you will always be late and continue to get harassment phone calls for a card you never used. DO NOT GET THIS CARD. After threatening them with getting in touch with the US Dept of State and the Chamber of Commerce for this obvious fraud, then and only then were reasonable and honored my request to cancel the card with no charges, previous or otherwise cue. I contacted Credit One Bank to make a payment and they tried to convince me to also pay my next month bill which was due in three weeks or they won't be able to waive the payment fee!!! They charge you all kind of ridiculous fees for no reason and when you call, you get transferred to so many people without getting a resolution to your problem. I had this card for a year now and so far, it's been the most ridiculous and scam acting credit card. I would never advise my worst enemy to apply for a CREDIT ONE CARD!!!! When I called, I was transferred 3x and was told that as long as my account had a balance then I would continue to get charged these fees. I asked for their license number that they operate under. He stated "we don't have such a phone number". I stated he must be working for the MOB if he isn't aware of any questions that I am asking. I asked to speak with attorney's that work with Credit One and again told...quote: "We don't have such people" unquote. After several months of trying to work something out to pay off this debt or get it reduced then I was told account was never closed. That is not what they told me several months ago when they said "yes, I see your acct is close..can I ask why?" I stated, "NO I called you to tell you to make sure this acct is closed and to stop adding all the charges on a closed acct and send it directly to a collection agency so I can work with them as you all don't know what the hell is going on."
I speak with someone at least once every 2 weeks and get the same questions asked to me (which by the way all my frustration is on their computer) and not one person that I have spoken with can answer any questions for me at all. I did tell them I will contact the FTC and anyone else that will listen. They had to tell me they were being recorded. They then said sorry to hear and hung up. A few days later a letter showed up from them asking for a copy of my DEATH CERTIFICATE. They obviously have freaking morons working for them as they cannot understand "OUT OF THE COUNTRY" and take that as you have died.
There is not 1 single email address to contact them, only 800, 866, and 877 numbers. I wasted $50 on cell phone charges to contact them so I could tell them they messed up and I was alive and trying to make a payment. Since they closed my account immediately, I was not able to make a payment. They did want me to return to the USA get an affidavit signed by a notary. Now since I was out of the country and not to return for quite some time, I had no way of doing this whatsoever. The account went to collections, and was eventually paid off after I came back home.
At this time, and the account has been paid off for about 6 months now, they have marked the account as charged off, even though I have paid this account off in full to them. They should be shut down and forced out of the country as they do not even have people that speak English working for them, at best they TRY to speak English. Would not have left any stars but I was forced to.

I asked why it was so high and they said I missed my payment 5 Days ago and there was a $50.00 late fee. I said that's weird I just made a $75.00 payment not more than 3 weeks ago and they would waive the late fee. My problem with this credit card company is that THEY SOLD ME A RATE INCREASE... I BOUGHT A $150.00 CREDIT INCREASE AND THEN 2 WEEKS LATER, THEY CANCELLED MY CARD. THEY CLOSED MY ACCOUNT. They said I had a return check in May, and supposedly one in August and part of their Credit Card agreement is that if you have a return check they cancel your credit card.
I checked my bank in May – None. In August, I paid a day too soon - of which I did have a return check and they canceled my credit card! It's funny, when I see that it was returned I made an ACH Payment $169.00 and there was no problem. They NEVER TOLD ME MY CARD WAS CANCELLED. I found out when I went use it and when I checked my account. They blocked the website so I couldn't make a payment. I called them, they unblocked my account and I asked them if there was any more problems with this account and was told no. I went to make a payment again and they had blocked the website again. I called them again and they let me know that they suspended my account until I provide to them the last 6 months of my bank statements of which I DO NOT FEEL 6 MONTHS OF MY STATEMENTS THEY NEED!
So I am talking to this woman (Very nice), she suggest that I talk to the Supervisor and this guy Dale gets on the phone of which claims to be a Manager. And he begins just talking over me and down to me… telling I don't pay my bills, trying to talk over me. I cursed at him, telling him to shut up and I asked to speak to his manager or someone in his legal department so I can get this resolved, because of all this BS, it has dinged me 46 points on my credit report.
The Idiot tells me I am not going to talk to anyone. I will deal with him, that all I have to do is pay my bill. I DO NOT RECEIVE STATEMENTS ANY LONGER, AND I DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE DUE DATE is. He tells me I am full of excuses, nothing but excuses as I am telling him to get someone in his legal department. All I want to do is take care of this and move on. Again yelling over me. He tells me NO, that I will do with him.
I told him what Credit One did was ILLEGAL. You can't sell a Credit line increase and then close account a few days later for something that happened the following month or 4 months prior. He REFUSED TO ALLOW ME TO TALK TO ANYONE BUT HIM REGARDING THIS CARD. AND HE REFUSED TO ALLOW ME TO TALK AND ALL HE DID WAS TALK OVER ME SAYING DEMEANING THINGS. I DO NOT AND WILL NOT BE HARASSED BY THE COMPANY IDIOT. I can assure you their Legal Department would have something to say in regards to this idiot. After being approved, I was mailed the card. I was extended the minimum credit limit, although I have other cards. Initially, I thought it was a Capital One invitation. THIS WAS MY OVERSIGHT, I take full responsibility. I have since been approved and accepted a Capital One card, and I am happy with their service to date. CreditOne has their logo branded that way for a reason. Had I realized it was not Capital One, I would have further researched this company and passed.
I did not receive a statement. Called the number and was told I would be charged an additional $9.95 to make payment. I did not approve that. I would wait and mail a check... They were going to cut the PAYMENT FEE in half...again, NO thank you. They waived the fee. In a very difficult to understand dialect, the rep insisted to me that we were GOING TO UP my payment by $25.00. Um, NO. I'm making more than your minimum, I've NEVER been harassed by any company to UP my payment amount...
The first representative then handed me off to a Customer Service Specialist... WHY? I don't know... AFTER another few minutes, he passed me off to Customer Service Specialist two, and person number THREE, who ONCE AGAIN INSISTED I UP my payment by $25.00. Perhaps if I would have received a statement, I would have paid the entire balance, but what I pay is MY choice. As I was on the phone, I began searching reviews, because I was appalled at the phone conversation. My BIGGEST CONCERN was reading reviews of customers that had JUST paid off their balances and to their surprise, the card was used fraudulently.
CreditOne DID NOT remove the fraudulent charges, the customers were held liable. Of course this was in the reviews, and I have no documentation, but multiple users explained the same situation, raising a red flag to me. I was on the phone and wasted more than 25 minutes just to make a simple payment. No thank you. There are PLENTY OF GOOD companies that will assist you in rebuilding your credit, Victoria's Secret is one, and they are great to deal with. They offered me my first card following my divorce...! And it looks pretty good on me, and I would say give it a go!
In my personal opinion, I would say... Think twice about this company. If you can afford all their FEES, put your money away and get a prepaid credit card from your bank. It's YOUR money AND you can rebuild your credit, with NO OUTRAGEOUS FEES!! Their fees are VERY HIGH... There are other cards with more moderate fees, better customer service and reputation. Customer service is contracted in India (not a bad thing, but come on, if your an American Company, Outsourcing customer service is pretty low). Even DirecTV discontinued outsourcing after years of problems and complaints. Reps are hard to understand, and that's just a fact, not an opinion.
I'm not calling this out as a bias, I had to ask a few times to have something repeated. There was never once in MY conversation a "Thank you, excuse me, or how can I help you...?" That goes a long way with ME. Unpleasant to deal with, and take A LOT of your time...(how much are YOU WORTH an hour), and a hard sell to increase your payment... For me, NO THANKS. I will not use this card any longer. Thanks, but no thanks. - Feb 09, 2014

Capital One on the other hand deferred late fees and accepted payments of $25.00 a month to allow me to catch my bills up. I have worked and earned my own money and paid my own way since I was 13. It is killing me to think I may have to default on this loan or file bankruptcy. It does me no good to pay what I can if they are adding a 35-dollar late fee every month.

I received my statement from Credit One Bank with the due date of the 1st of the month. My bank takes 2 days to send a payment. Credit One processed the payment on the 2nd of the month and charged me $25.00 late fee. I asked them to close out the account and they charged me another late fee to close the account even though I made the payment on the 16th of the current month. I would never use this Institution for any reason, not only that but I called them 7 times and asked to speak to an agent in the USA.
They hung up on me all seven times promising to transfer me to an agent. They were rude and uncaring as I tried to review my payment history with them. These were the supposed Supervisors. After all of this, I'm finding that there is no one for a customer to speak to so they can have their issues resolved... NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU NEED A CARD, DO NOT USE THIS BANK...

My first payment is due 01/14/2014 and I have not even used the credit card. On the application there was no mention of a $75.00 annual fee. This is almost like the old "Bait and Switch" scam.

I called and when the woman (who barely spoke English) asked me my email address... that's not the address in her records, nor is it my DOB, my home address, my telephone #. She informs me that someone changed all of these things online, paid the bill with an obvious bogus bank account and then tried to charge $900+ at NewEgg.com. Well from a $1,048.00 balance, my balance is $3186.88. They are crazy scam artists. And what people were saying about being late with a payment... my son was away and I paid his credit card bill, except I paid the wrong one on the wrong date... They called him and called him a liar, and said they were bringing him to collections and all sorts of BS like that... Then they call and hang up and repeat and repeat.
This is not a bank in my opinion... this is MOB tactics. When you question fraudulent activity on a credit card from a legitimate bank... they put those charges aside until everything is straightened out. Not these people. My husband and I both have bad credit. We apply for the Credit One card because we need a credit card to improve our credit. Well, the first week we got charges only for card activation, like 80 dollars. We pay off the balance every time we use the card. But there is always an excuse to charge a little extra money. This month is an annual fee for 8 dollars plus 5 dollars fee for something else they posted in my transactions and even when we are not using the card anymore they're still posting transaction fees every month. I would like to recommend Capital One for those who need a credit card, to improve their credit. They are very honest company and they charge only what is fair. Credit One is the worst bank ever! The are offering me a credit line increase and I have to pay them for that. Isn't that crazy!

My experience with this company was that if you are even 2 days late, they will call you and rudely harass you for payment. They don't want to hear you get paid tomorrow or that you will pay it online. They will demand payment while they have you on the phone. Oh, and don't bother misplacing your card because they will try and charge you $50 for a new one. A late fee was wrongly assessed to my account and after being on the phone for over a half hour with someone I could barely understand, they waived the fee. I finally got tired of the nonsense and requested they close my account. They did NOT and have so far added $300 in fees and interest to an account that should have been closed a year ago. They also harassed and called my wife upwards of 20+ times a day, with calls beginning before 8 am and well after 6 pm. If you can, AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. It is NOT worth it.

I called the customer service department. I got this rude customer service representative by the name of Rebecca. Not only way this representative very rude but she kept trying to talk over me. I informed her that it has been over a month and I have not received this so called preapproved credit card (which like many others on this site I thought it was capital one). She informed me that a letter has been sent to me because they need a copy of my social security card and/or a copy of my license. I told her that I want to cancel the process and to remove my information from the system. She proceeded to try to talk over me telling me trying to explain that this card is to issue to improve my credit.
After I got done tell her to not talk over me I proceed to tell her that my credit is fair and is not bad and that I wanted her to stop the process of the card and to remove my information from the system. I also asked that she opt me out of receiving anymore offers from this bank. She told me that it would take 72 hour to cancel the processing of the application. I informed her that she only has 72 hours to remove my information and that I am going to check again if my information is still in the system she will be hearing from me and the better business bureau. A few months ago, my card was hijacked and used for purchases at Best Buy (like the others on this page), the equivalent of "Seamless" in Great Britain, other charges for cash advances in Las Vegas (where they say their corporate headquarters is, but it isn't, according to another poster - I have yet to confirm this), other charges in India, and several other charges. I live in Brooklyn and was nowhere near these places when the charges were made. I called right away, when they told me I had something like an $800 balance on the card, when I had not even used it. I expected to use it to build credit, so I always paid it off right away after small purchases. When I called, like all of the other posters here, I was sent on a long chain of speaking to many "supervisors", none of whom were passable English speakers. None of them could help me and seemed angry at me for not paying the bill. I told them there were fraudulent charges, and they told me, like the other posters here, that I would have to wait 90 days until their "fraud dept" could look into it.
I suspect that their entire company is the "fraud dept", so they should be experts at this - all. They would not allow me to speak with anyone about this problem and hung up on me. I didn't pay the bill, of course, as it was not mine to pay. In addition, and take note everyone - the same card I used to pay off the balance at Credit One was also compromised at the same time. My identity was stolen and I had to change my cards at my own bank. It was a huge pain, with other fraud charges at my own bank from the same locations as the ones from Credit One (just like other posters here). Naturally, I don't want to pay them a dime. This is seemingly a scam company. I waited the 90 days and they miraculously removed the $800 charges, but now they tell me I owe them interest and late fees!! They also claim that they can't produce records of these charges so I can see what they are. They explain they were charges from before my card was stolen, in addition to the late fees ($35 per month and interest!) because I should have been paying them all along(?)
Any decent company would have put a hold on the account and gotten to figuring out the fraud right away. In addition to this, after my fraud report, I asked them to close my account (Chase would do this automatically) but they kept it open, and more fraudulent charges accrued! I had to ask them three times to close the card, on three separate calls. Apparently, it is now closed. Also I had a credit limit of $300 on the card, yet, they allowed it to go over the limit to more than $1000 to accommodate these illegal and fraudulent charges. Of course, I am not going to use my newly reissued card or any check from my bank account to reveal anything else about myself to them to pay them any "Late fees" or "interest" - especially on fraudulent charges, and I am certainly not going to pay them anything without an itemized bill.
This is like someone sending you a bill in the mail for no reason! They kept telling me they were recording me "for quality purposes". I informed them that I, too, was recording them. They didn't like that, yet oddly kept talking to me even though they said "I could not do that". I asked under which law, and they said it was against their company policy. Well, it is against my policy to be treated this way. I recorded them because they consented to be recorded in recording me. At least I have some evidence now. I plan to pursue this legally and would love to start class action proceedings with anyone here. They need to be stopped. I also reported them to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Please google this and report your stories about Credit One. They allow you to upload recordings, images and text pertaining to your case, and then forward these to the company for an official "response". I'm awaiting the response.

I’ve had this credit one card since February of 2013 and only used it for the first time in October. I kept wondering when I was going to get my first bill and then on November 18, I received a call from their collections department. I explained to them that I had not received a bill in the mail or via email. They said they could not understand that because all of my info was on file and verified accurately. I relented and assumed it must have been my fault. I then asked for a received confirmation that if I paid the bill in full at that moment, the past due charge of $25 would be forgiven.
The next day I went online, verified contact info and enabled email notification and subscribed to paperless statements. At that time I was presented with an offer to increase my credit limit, because it was noted I now have excellent credit and accepted it. So today December 9, after remembering that I had not received a bill from them I went online only to find out that the charge was not forgiven, and that I am past due on the $25 past due amount, but no statement is available for me to view online and I did not receive one via email. I call and of course I must be a liar because everything checks out on their end.
I asked to speak to a supervisor and after several different and lengthy holding cycles she says that someone will have to call me back. While I was on hold I start researching this company and find out that this pretty much seems to be their practice. I will be paying off the bill and probably the past due amount, but I will have to stop using this Credit One Bank and will waste my time reporting them to the State Attorney General, BBB and anyone else I can, which will probably will have little to no effect. In closing this bank is not on the up and up and they are breaking the law.

This place is absolutely terrible. I lost my job back in 9/2013. I got an offer in the mail from Credit One stating, "You've been pre-qualified - $300 limit." Something told me it wasn't a good idea, but at this time I had no choice... I didn't have a job yet and I had bills I NEEDED to pay. So I got the offer in the beginning of October. Before I even got my card, I got a statement stating I owed $75.00 for the activation/start-up fee. "Yeah, yeah,” I thought.
So, I finally received my card 10/18 and make my car payment that night. That night is when the calls began. And it’s been nothing but calls ever since...starting 6am ending 12am (if I'm lucky). The first time I answered, the man was pretty nice...Until I told him I couldn't make a payment yet, then it got bad. I explained to him how I lost my job and had no income and he went crazy..."If you have no income, why apply for card?"...Like that was any of his business.
But I nicely explained, "Your company offered me an account with you, knowing my income situation." He continued to say, "I understand you have no money. Let’s go ahead and make a payment with your debit card of even a dollar for your account." By this time I started to get very annoyed..."Sir, I told you, I have no money whatsoever to make a payment to you. As soon as I get a job and have some sort of income, I will make a payment to you and I will get this card paid current."
Well, he refused to let that be the end of the conversation. He continued yelling at me about me not having any income and how I needed to make a payment, how he would continue to call me every day until I made a payment and waste my time as I wasted his, blah blah. I hung up on him, sit my phone down, come back maybe 15 minutes later, 25 missed calls...no voicemails. 25. Are you serious? I never called back and never answered another call that night (Oh yes, they continued).
Since then, every day, 20+ calls a day but no voicemails with why they are calling. Let me just throw in that I have only received 2 statements from them, the $75.00 and the most recent from a week ago. I am not the kind of person to have patience with harassing phone calls like that. Well I'm guessing they caught on to me never answering their calls and started calling from other phone numbers or restricted/blocked numbers (again I do not answer any number I don’t know). I would answer every once in a while and try to explain the same thing to each and every person I spoke to, but I'm guessing they didn’t understand.
It is now 11/30. I am at work. I look at my phone, sit it down, 3 minutes later go to pick up my phone and have 5 missed calls...GUESS WHO. Yup, Credit One. So finally, I call them back. When I called, a lady answered. I asked right away for a supervisor. She continued to get all of my information, SSN, DOB, address. I asked, “Ma'am I'm not speaking to you about anything. Why do you need ANY of my information but my name?” She did not say another word and transferred me.
After being on hold for 8 minutes, a gentleman answers and states he is a supervisor (sorry, couldn’t understand him to get his name - or hardly of anything else he said). He asked how he could help me. I started, "Well sir, with you being a supervisor, I wanted to inform you, if you are not already aware, that your employees are harassing me on a daily basis. I would appreciate it if you could put a note of my file stating to not contact me by phone." He says, "Why don't you want to be contacted?" Well, because I am aware of my balance, I am aware my account is late, I am aware of all credit report issues (as I used to work for a credit reporting agency). When I am contacted and decide to answer - I am treated like dirt, and when your company tries to contact me, well...they don’t stop.
Normally, if someone doesn't answer the first time, it means they aren’t available or they don't want to answer. Your company will contact me 20+ times a day, one call after another and I find that to be harassment. He says, "What, they call you 3 times today? I'm sorry are you asking me or telling me how many times they called." "Asking I guess, if that is wrong." "18 times." He says, "So what are you calling me for?" By this time, I'm ready to flip out!!!!" I said, “Sir, I want your company to stop calling me!" He says, "I don’t see any attempts in our system for your number today." ARE YOU FREAKIN’ SERIOUS?
"Well, SIR, your system is incorrect ! I can email you a screen shot of all the calls if you'd like. I would also like for you to make a note on the file that I will be making a payment within the next two months to pay this off, so there is no need for anyone to contact me." He then said he would make a note on the file. I asked him to help me cancel/close my account. He told me he’d have to transfer me to customer service. Then...HUNG UP. I called back. I asked the rep that answered if there were any notes on the file and if she could close/cancel my account, and she stated there was not a note on the file and asked if there was anything else she could help with...before I could say anything else, she transferred me to "Customer Service".
I finally reached a woman (I did not understand ANY names). She asked what I needed. "I need your SSN & DOB." "No, I'll give my card number." I told her I needed my account closed and she asked why. "Well, I don’t like your policies and your customer service sucks, not to mention the harassing phone calls." She didn’t say anything else but, "Your account is now closed." "Please put a note on my file to not have any more phone calls." "You have now been removed from the call list, you will no longer be contacted by our company," & hung up. DON'T FALL FOR THIS!!!!! I’m praying she really closed my account and she better hope I do not get any more calls!

I recently called back to try and attempt to change my name and after 6 representatives informing me that they would transfer me to someone who could help, I was finally transferred to a representative who informed me that they would need documents proving that I changed my last name. I tried to get a fax number for faster service to resolve this issue and cancel this card, but instead I must mail the documents and pray that they make the changes. My wife acquired one of these credit cards after she had declared bankruptcy. The hook was that she could restore her credit through use of this card. She has had this card now for over 9 years, and has paid faithfully on it, never having been late. First thing she noticed when she received the card was a $75 membership fee on the card, which was promptly paid off. She began using the card and paying the balance in full, but every month there was a monthly user's fee of around 9 dollars a month. After the card had been used for a number of years - and she was an active user - she decided to cut back on credit card usage. After four years of minimal purchases, the balance was reduced substantially, and she received a nice letter from them saying the credit limit on the card had been raised, and to apply for it, which she did.
Our monthly payment had been $25 a month, and she had set our computer up to pay a week early for that amount. Well, she didn't know it, but the payment had gone up to $30 a month, and the computer had paid the $25 she had set up. She received a late payment notice even though she had sent them a payment (it was short $5) and they socked her with a $25 late fee. Almost immediately, they began calling from India or the Philippines demanding a full payment plus all of the fees, even though the next payment wasn't due for another month. She told them of the error and said she would send them the $5 immediately if they would take off the $25 penalty. Of course, they refused. She asked to speak with a supervisor, and got another person in India, and when She had trouble understanding him asked for a United States representative.
Well, it seems they don't have any offices here in the US - only a post office box. They are incorporated here in the US, but it appears from their parent name, Bank of Marin, that they are foreign, and she was unable to find any more information on them yet. They are incorporated in Nevada. She has been told that even though you may cancel the account, you continue to accrue penalties in addition to the interest due. She is scared now that even when the account is paid off and cancelled, she will continue to accrue interest and penalties, resulting in more harassment and threats. What can she do?

I just got the credit card and before the date it was due they were harassing me 20 times a day. Starting at 8 am in the morning and not stopping till 9 pm at night. There is something wrong this company. I never have someone call me on a daily basis for any credit card. And they are always foreign and you can understand them. Now they tell me they are sending it to collection. I don’t think this is a legitimate company and they should be investigated. I have never been harassed this much before over a payment on a bill. It is nonstop.

Applied, approved. 12 days later, card arrived. $75 in debt from the get go. Paid the $75. Used the card, paid what I used on payday x3. So I used the card 3 times in one month, paid 3 times in one month. Log-in to check account, it's suspended. Call Credit One. They want my bank to provide a letterhead verifying my account. Has to be sent through the mail, not email. But they will request your bank/payment info right over the phone? So now, I've been without the ability to see my account. See how many ridiculous fees they've tacked on and not until they "verify" my account will they unlock my online account? Ridiculous. So, trying to rebuild credit. Now I have a dead weight card I can't use and they're going to "closed by credit grantor" report to the bureau if the verification forms don't show up in time. Stay away.

I pay my card off each month in full. Recently, I discovered fraudulent activity on my card and notified Credit One Bank. I was told that it would take 7-10 days to get a replacement card with a new number. I said that was unacceptable and was then told it would take 3-5 business days. I said still not good, most other companies provide a replacement card overnight, if requested. I was told it would take 2 days but they would charge me $20 to get the card! I said absolutely not and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was placed on hold and then the same person came on and said "this one time, we will waive the fee." I said the fee should never have been an option to begin with.
I filed a police report and called back to find out where to send it and where to get an affidavit to sign to assure them that I had not committed the fraudulent charge and I was told that it would take 30-90 days to reverse the charge out. They wouldn't give me information on filing an affidavit, either. I asked even if the company that received the fraudulent payment reversed it out and credited my account? They said it didn't matter, they weren't going to expedite the process for me.
I had also noticed a charge for transfer of balance that amounted to $9.99 more than was previously on the account even with the fraudulent charges and asked about that. They said it was a payment fee. I told them that I had just made the payment and the fee for $9.99 was ALREADY part of the payment amount so they were duplicating the charge. Speaking to these people is like talking to a foreign robot. They have no idea of customer service and they use every opportunity to take a bad situation and make it even worse by creating bogus charges. I am going to get this mess straightened out and pay the few dollars I had legitimately charged on my account and close this thing. This is the worst, most frustrating credit card company known to man. HATE, HATE, HATE them.

This is the BIGGEST mistake I've EVER made. I was attempting to repair my credit and thought that opening this credit card would help. WRONG! The first couple/few months were fine. Then, in September/October everything went to hell. I discovered that someone had gotten ahold of my information. They changed my log in info, changed the address, and ran up the bill. They even went so far as to make a payment to continue use! I immediately called the company and was advised that the card would be cancelled, the fraudulent charges would be reversed, and this situation would be under "investigation". (They returned only the very large payment that was made, but not the actual charges).
However, two & 1/2 weeks later I still do not have the new card and when I log into the website the card is STILL being used and has now gone $300+ over the limit! The 24 hour/7 day a week "Lost & Stolen card department" is actually NOT 24/7. Now, I'm left to wait until Monday morning to call and hopefully get this corrected. It has been my experience with other credit cards that the company will call you if/when they notice out of the ordinary card activity. Not Credit One. I hardly use the card, so the only thing that give me rise to contact them was when I couldn't log into the website.
My credit is totally shot by this and I could care less about suffering the negative credit reporting by closing this card.

This company is a scam! I applied with them and from the beginning, it was a joke. Received the bill with $75.00 charge before I even received my credit card. Then was being charged a late fee for not paying on time. And when you call to complain and cancel this card, you get these people that can't speak English on the phone explaining things that make no sense.
My credit is not perfect but I did have a few credit card with credit limit $1500 -2000 and been paying in time. When I get their offer #1 it looks like Capital One Bank - same color and same logo. My understanding was it was a Capital One. I would never accept the offer from Credit One. This bank just wants us to be late with paying to charge us again and again. And problem is, they will give you $400 credit limit, then they charge you $75.00, $25.00 late fee, $9.99 monthly fee plus interest, plus transaction fee. So before you know, you have to give this scam a donation of few hundred dollars.
When you try to talk to them, your credit will be in more trouble. My credit cards cut the credit limit to $100.00 because of this scam bank. And you can’t close this card. You will pay this card off, but they will charge you $9.99 per month even if you not using this card. You try to cancel, they will charge 25.00 late fee on this 9.99. I need to get out of this card. Would love to get people together and take this company to court. Anybody with me on this? This company has to close down because they are basically robbing people.

My account was closed right after getting an increase for no reason after I had billed it up to 900.00 and being with them for 10 years. Spoke to them and wrote letters and as of yet have not received an answer to why this was done. This just happened this Aug. 2013. I'm a disable Vet and I feel very upset the way they have handled this situation; it is very unprofessional. I hope that someone there in Consumer Affairs investigate this matter. Something is very wrong with this company and I hope someone gets back to me as well. Thank you.

Most people who have bad credit will find that Credit One is the only non-secured cc that they'll qualify for. After the effects from my divorce left me with terrible credit, and a prospect of potentially struggling finding jobs due to that fact, I found Credit One would extend me credit (only $300 to start), but I didn't have ANY credit cards, so this was a good way, I figured, to begin re-building my credit. I would routinely use the card for things like gas and groceries, then pay off the balance twice a month (every time I got paid, I'd pay off the balance). It worked for a while.
I've never been late on a payment or otherwise had any other issues (outside of being terrible to deal with for routine issues on the phone)... until this week. I just moved cross-country on my own dime for work. My payment is late by less than a week. For the first time ever, on Wednesday, I got recurring phone calls, but no messages to explain, nor prompt me to call back. Finally able to answer, the rep on the phone asks me about my account and explains that it's past-due. "I understand," I tell her, "I just moved cross-country, and money is really tight right now until I get paid on Friday. But when I do, you'll get at least $200." My minimum payment was $45. "Ok, that's great, but let's free up some money now. How much can you pay today?"
I repeated, "I'm LITERALLY eating ramen noodles right now because I have single digits in my bank account. The trip broke me. I can barely afford food, so you guys will have to wait until Friday. I can't do anything any sooner than that." "I'll make note of that. Can we set that up today to come out as soon as you get paid on Friday?" "Of course." "Can we make it $250?" At that point, I hung up. Friday came and I scheduled my payment through the bank (less though than I'd originally planned), which most likely because they only take hard-copy checks, the bank has to mail it to them, so while today is Tuesday, they still haven't received the money. I got more calls throughout the day today.
"Ma'am, we're calling about your Credit One account that is past due and has a balance of..." "Yeah, I set up a payment on Friday. You should receive the money within the next day or so." "That's good to know and I'll make a note of it. Is there any way you could take care of a small payment today?" "No. Why would I do that? I'm already paying you what I can afford... which BY THE WAY, is more than what is due by more than double." "I understand, but your account is past-due now, so taking care of a small amount will bring it current." Most companies will understand if you're a first-time offender and having some legitimate hardship but doing all you can to make it right. Not only were they terribly unforgiving, they were quite simply rude. It seems as if these people are reading from a strict set of scripted scenarios.
As further testament to the terrible quality of this business, I had my name changed back from my married name to my maiden name. In order to make the change reflect on my account, I was told that I had to mail (postal service - not EMAIL) a letter signed by me, with both names and some further documentation to an address. I was given no confirmation when my letter was received, and after three weeks, I called the customer service line to follow up. The agent was of no help and said that the only way I'd know if my name was changed is if I see it changed on my account when I log in. No option to fax, call, or email. So I waited, and waited.
Over a month passed, and I think when I noticed the change it was nearing two months. Do I get a new card? Nope. I have to pay $25 for a replacement card. I didn't lose the damn thing... I've replaced other cards for the same reason, and NONE of them charged me. As much as I hate this company, I'm conflicted as to if it would be in my best interest to close the account. As I understand it, having credit cards for a long time is good for credit, but if I close it, it would reflect badly. Grrrr!! Oh, the monthly "Annual Fee" is some fun to see pop up every month, too... along with the "Credit Line Increase Fee." These guys are making a fortune off of all of us. I really hate this company.

I received my card in the mail the other day and called to activate it. I was told that I would have to mail in copies of my social security card and license and a utility bill. I asked the man (who spoke very basic English), "So I applied and was approved for a card, but now that I was approved I'm supposed to mail in documentation?" I told him to delete the account. He said it would automatically be deleted if I don't activate the card by 11/6. I guess I'm going to have to keep a very close eye on this from what I'm reading.

Had nothing but problems after I've had the card for three months. The first month, before the payment was even due, I got harassing phone calls and finally had to tell them to get somebody that wasn't lazy and pull the payment down because my bank showed that it was paid. I've now had the card for almost 8 months and the drama continues. I paid way over the minimum that was due and they have yet to apply the payment but yet and still they're charging "finance charge" fees, over the limit fees, and late fees. They will call and argue with you about what you have in your bank account, until you ask if they want a copy of your bank statement (yes, I went there). Then they'll say "that's not necessary."
If you're smart DO NOT apply for this card. DON'T even look at the website. This company isn't worth the ground that they're sitting on, let alone the plastic that they produce.
