The mistake of allowing COB to take funds on a monthly basis from my account proved to be a wrong idea. Due to a date change, COB tried to withdraw funds from my checking account and was blocked by my bank. My bank told me that they tried this on two different occasions with different amounts. After all was said and done, I tried to go onto my "online account" and found it was suspended. I called and talked to three (3), yes three, customer service agents. I was told if I pay the month missed (the present month and next month's payments), my account would be back on. Not the case at all!

They took three months' payments. I was only one behind because of the problem and claim that there's nothing they can do. This company took me and now could screw up my credit report, so I'm pissed off! I'm writing a letter to the company, bank, BBB and the federal agency on credit reporting. They won't even drop my % rate to lower my monthly and to pay the damn thing off quicker.

So I've only had this credit card for six months but I've paid the balance in full or close to it almost every month. This month, I made three payments, all before the due date. For some strange reason, the last two payments bounced back, but I still paid $350 on a $400 cc with a $25 minimum payment fifteen days before the due date. No one contacted me regarding the returned payments and I have no idea why they were returned. Instead, they just closed my card, negatively affecting my credit. I just spent the last hour trying to communicate with their customer service department, which is so bad it verges on fraudulent, only to be told there was nothing they could do to reopen my account.

They said I went over but I did not. From Credit One adding whatever fees and such they like, it caused the balance to be over. On top of paying a $90 annual fee, there were so many unwarranted fee. Then they call before due dates and say you're late when you are not. This bank clearly is taking advantage of people who are in need. I have a $400 limit. My account is at $407.52. Of that balance, I made purchases of less than $275. I have only had my card for 2 months. I have closed the card. If they can put that many charges in less then 60 days, that is ridiculous! I am furious and will be calling the Better Business Bureau.

On December 15, 2012, I was not able to log into my account online. I called and the representative stated they put a temporary hold on the account due to expected fraudulent activity. The fraudulent charges were in Mexico. I've never been or purchased anything from Mexico. When I talked with Shaun (a reported supervisor) on December 15, 2012, he stated that within the next 7 to 10 business days, they will send an affidavit to be completed and returned. As of January 12, 2013, I still have not received the form; however, I did receive the new card they issued. On January 3, 2013, I called their fraud department. However, you have to leave a message and they will call you back within 2 business days. I called again on January 8, 2012 at 3:59 pm PST. As of January 12, 2013, still no returned call.

On January 3, 2013, I called customer service. They reported that it could take up to 90 days after they received the affidavit from me. Yet, they still have not mailed me the affidavit. The representative further stated that as long as there in an investigation, I would be responsible for interest and the annual fee, even if I closed the account. The amount of the fraud is $315.54. I requested to have the account closed. The representative further stated that if I paid off the balance and they did find in my favor, I would not be issued a refund just a credit to my account. Shocked, I followed up with mailing a letter outlining the fraudulent items and requesting the account to be closed. On January 8, 2013, the account is still open. On January 10, 2013, account is finally closed. I called left another voicemail with the fraud department.

On January 12, 2013, at 11:51 am PST, I called customer service, which is outsourced in India. This was confirmed by Jimmy, employee ID **, supervisor. He reported that they had received my letter. He stated that they had not mailed the affidavit and asked me to be patient. He further said that I would be responsible for the amount due, interest, and any other charges. He stated that if they did rule it was fraud, they would refund my account but not issue me a check. When I responded with, "I am sure that in days, your company will be in violation of FTC and California laws and I feel I have no other choice to report Credit One Bank to the necessary government agencies." Jimmy asked me not to report them and to be patient.

I had my Credit One credit card not stolen but somehow they credit another credit card with my CC #'s and used in Louisiana. I live in California. I reported it fraud over two months ago. First, I called the number and I guess it's outsourced to India. They closed that account and said that they will send me paperwork to report fraud. They said it will take 7-10 business days. Well, 30 days went by and charges were still on my new account and no paperwork yet. I called again and they said they'll send another one. Well, two months later, still no paperwork and they only give you 90 days to report it and send back paperwork. Now, they temporarily removed the charges. I'm beyond pissed off for the time it's taking to handle this. I asked them why it's taking so long to send paperwork and they have no answer. I'm so frustrated and don't know what to do.

This company sucks and seems to be very suspicious on their own business practices from what I'm reading from other complaints. What can one do about this? They can get my statement to me on time to pay them but getting the fraud docs seems to be traveling the world and will never get to me. I asked them if they can overnight them and they said no! I asked if they can email them and they said no! What can a consumer do about this? Is it legal to keep charging you a fee monthly for an annual fee then every year they charge another fee on top of the monthly ones?

Space Shuttles retired and business slowed to unprecedented levels. I'm trying to make ends meet. I'm unemployed from October and most of November. Finally, I got back to work and one payment behind. Credit One failed to negotiate through various levels of management, and they continued abusive/harassment calls (over less than a $50 balance needed for meds and survival), of which I determined is an automated service and discredit to their service. Meanwhile, they charged ridiculous fees and penalties (possibly breaking laws) I'm unable to afford. Credit One sucks and is a discredit to American business, as even their own staff members will agree. I've attempted to contact the CEO to no avail and plan to sue for punitive damages. Credit One should not be in business. They are a disservice to our nation.

The rep closed my account, and I called back to speak with another rep who said he would waive the fee to keep my account open and saw she closed it and said, "I am sorry, but we have to reopen the account." He did and then said he could not waive the fee now. It's ridiculous. Terrible service and policies. I asked to speak with a supervisor, and he put me on hold for 25 minutes then came back and said, "They said the same thing." If you need a supervisor, then get one on the line. Very unprofessional. This is a hodge-podge organization. They should not be in business. I am really sorry I ever took the chance with this card. I had a Credit One Bank card since 2007. In 2008, I called the 1-800 number to ask for the paperwork for my insurance since I would be off work all of 2009 for cancer treatment. But they said I could not use my insurance nor could I file bankruptcy which I never have. I could not get anywhere with them so I filed a complaint with the AG office in Las Vegas, and they refused to help. I contacted the Fed Reserve number for complaints (they sent me to help with my bank) who in turn sent me to the OCC. They got my account closed and the $250 credit/debit closed and paid off with my insurance, or so I thought.

About six months later, Credit One Bank sold my closed account to a collection company. So, I sent them the letter I got from OCC showing it's closed. Then Credit One sold it again so I keep sending off letters after letters. So far, it's been sold to seven collections agency since 2010. I've been fighting this since 2009 and it has cost me a home loan. I have copies of all letters from collections, AG office, OCC and complaint to FTC. I'm trying to file a lawsuit but can't find an attorney I can afford since I'm handicapped and can't work. I don't make a lot on SSDI. I need some help.

Credit One Bank - I got this card after paying a $75 annual fee and $7 to put a lab on the front of the card. I used the card 2 times for small purchases. When I got my bill, there were charges of interest on the bill. I phoned the company and was told that interest was charged from the time of purchase; there is no grace period of 25 days like other credit cards. I immediately tore the card up and canceled the card.

I pay all my cards off each and every month and wanted another card in case of emergencies. I had the emergency but had no idea that interest was going to be charged on the card from the date of purchase or I would have used another card. I paid $12.01 on charges of $376.58. This company is totally whacked charging 24% interest on charges and then charging interest on purchases from the time of purchase. I paid my account online and haven't missed this bank or used their card! What a rip-off and I didn't even know this was their way of doing business.

Yet, the first charges were made by Ali-Baba, an international wholesale house, for about $200. I saw it on the first statement, along with a charge to a sex line number (they credited that immediately). They cancelled the card and charged me $25 for a new one, in addition to $75 for opening the account. They received two timely payments, over the minimum required, and on time. They sent a letter saying they were investigating the fraudulent claims.

Today they used ACH to deduct over $400 from my bank account, which information they could only have gotten by looking at the checks, since bank and account numbers are not on the application form. So, so far they have charged me nearly $800 incorrectly for a card with a maximum limit of $500, and they received no authorization to charge via ACH. I needed to pay off my child's braces, and I wanted to make smaller monthly payments rather than the $250 monthly payments that I was making to the orthodontist. When I got the card in the mail, I immediately realized that this was a mistake to have applied for this card, after reading their terms. I cut the card up and threw it away. The following month, I was billed from Credit One Bank for $25, then billed again last month for $25, even though I had not activated the card, and cut it up and threw it away! I sent in the payments, thinking that I was paying my Capital One bill (a big mistake, but Credit One Bank looks very much like Capital One, which is another one of their clever deceptions).

I started thinking that this bill was odd, so I called their 1-800 number, and I got an automated voice prompt telling me to activate my card. I tried to get around it because I did not want to activate the card, but I was not able to navigate around the activation prompt. You literally cannot talk to an agent until you activate the card, so this was coercion. I had to call back in order to talk to an agent. I told the agent that I was billed for an annual fee even though I had not wanted the card, and had cut it up and disposed of it, and had not activated it until forced to do so by their system setup. The agent acted unconcerned and said, "Well, you sent in the application, didn't you?" I said yes, but simply sending in an application should not mean that you accept their terms. So even though I decided not to accept their terms and conditions, they immediately billed me $75 even though I did not activate their card.

I have now read all of the online complaints about this company and have learned that they also do many other unscrupulous things, the worse being that you can't seem to cancel this card. So you are more or less stuck with paying these extortionists their excessive fees. I am going to attempt to cancel the card, but I have read other complaints from others who tried to cancel the card, and upon cancelling, find additional charges added to their accounts, so they can keep you or, should I say, force you to stay enslaved to their scam. I hope that legal action will be taken against them, and I will support any such legal action. What they are doing has to be illegal, and they need to be shut down.

I get paid on the 1st of every month. My payment is due on the 28th. I called the first bill I ever got and asked to have the date changed. They said they could not. Last month, I totally forgot and instead of paying on the 28th, I paid on the 29th. They charged me $25.00 for a late fee. I was aggravated, but realized it was my fault. I called and asked again if they could change the date and complained about the late fee. The lady told me she could not change the date, but could waive the late fee this one time. I paid the balance off except the $25 and went on my way. I was just not going to use it anymore. This month rolls around and how much do i owe? $50.00 freaking dollars. I did not even look at that statement because I knew I had paid it off and was about to cancel it anyway. I had just needed it while I was in the process of buying a house.

Now they say they can't do anything. Well he did say he would take one charge off. I said no freaking way. He said it was not notated that it was supposed to be removed. I said, "How in the heck am I supposed to control that?" She did not do her job. I told him to listen to the recorded phone conversation. He said he would get back to me in 6 days. Well Mack, don't worry, I will be contacting you in 6 days and there better not be any extra charges on my card!

They were very rude and ignorant. I informed them that if I got another bill, we would go to court. They don't seem to care. So, anyone out there up for a class action lawsuit? Unfortunately, that is about the only way to shut these crooks down. I have already tried the credit reporting company route and they are just as bad in trying to set things right. Stay away from these scammers. They hurt your credit rather than help you repair it.

This company is an extortionist-run operation. I applied for this card through Credit Karma. I was notified that they sent the card via email. I received the card and after reading the Visa/MC Cardholder Agreement Disclosure Statement and Arbitration Agreement, I called the number. Unbeknownst to me, it is the same number that you use to activate the card. I called an hour later to cancel the card. I voided the card and sent it back with a cancellation letter certified mail. I called them back after receiving a credit card statement for $25 due of the $75 annual membership fee. The statement is dated 6/21/2012. I called and recorded the conversation with an Asian customer service rep that indeed the card was cancelled. However, upon checking my Credit Karma account, I found out that this credit card is a new entry on 7/01/2012. Do not apply for this card no matter how credit challenged you may be. On 6/28/2012, I asked and was told that my telephone cancellation was sufficient.

Okay, I was approved, good so far. I received the bill prior to the card. This happens and is normal. I called the same night to pay the total balance, used my debit card to expedite payment so when I receive my card, there will be a zero balance.

I received the card a week later (2 weeks after the card is associated w/ my file). I sat down last night and reviewed my online banking statement as I do twice a month. There, in black and white is my authorized payment to Credit One, but, just after that is an unauthorized deduction of $100 even! Okay, so I assume it's human error or something and I called Credit One for my first communication. Not good. They say they did not take 2 drafts. Um, yes you did, and here's the proof. The proof is not acceptable via phone, Okay, where can I fax it, because I should have a $100 credit now and I want this resolved asap. There is nothing they can do. They want the paper statement from my bank faxed to a standard customer service fax # in which they will start an investigation in 10-14 business days.

Um, no. This is unacceptable, to tell me that you made an error, and you will not look into it within 48 hours. I will not wait a month before seeing my money, and if this is how they treat their customers, let's cancel the card immediately and I will contact my bank (USAA) and advise them the $100 was unauthorized. Credit One then tried telling me maybe someone in my house that I have authorized on the card called to authorize that. Now you're just reaching. You are in my file, and can see there is no one authorized. And no, there is no one else in my home, so let's move this up to a manager.

The manager says the same thing, points the finger at me for the 2nd debit, but says there is no debit. I asked to speak with the manager's manager because this is insane, and I do not have the tolerance to deal with stupidity. I'm not asking for anything unreasonable, I don't want a check cut back, I want them to acknowledge the extra debit from my account and credit my card an extra $100 (which would mean no payments for a long time seeing my balance is 0). And I want resolution within 48 hours, not a lot to ask. The manager tried to get his mgr. on the horn, but was not able to, so he said he would speak to his boss about it and call me back within 30 mins. to 1 hr. They did, and they are investigating the issue and will have a resolution within 48 hours.

I'm not happy that I had to go so deep into the Customer Service chain. I'm not that person, but, I am relatively satisfied that they are investigating. I will, of course, do my part in making sure they have all the PPW needed to see the extra debit from my bank acct. All in all - very bad experience. Oh, that first bill wasn't due till July, the one that I paid early.

Anyways, I got my card, paid the fee and pay my payment through the website with my banking information, always have. I don't wait till my payment is almost due to pay it. I pay as soon as it tells me my due date. I have never had to call because I have had 0 problems with them, so I cannot say much to their customer service, never been told I am late or been called.

One minor complaint I may say I have is they do give you a free credit score every month. It does not seem to be a true one because it never matches the numbers on the 3 credit reporting companies. Overall, they are a good company. I would recommend them to someone who had bad credit and needs a second chance.

I ran into this site and wanted to give my two cents about Credit One. This will be a fair review by a real card user. To date, I have used this card for 3 months. What people are saying about the customer support is very true. They are very mean and rude. If you make it to a senior supervisor, you will get someone a bit more professional. The problem with me having to do this is the questions I posed were not about a balance or anything. Just average questions about the account in general. It should have been a couple of smooth calls. This was not the case. For this, they lose one star.

Another thing of concern to me is the fact that payments are held for 10 days. This is the free, pay-from-your-checking account method. I do appreciate that opportunity, but for $9.99, they will expedite the payment and process the funds within 48 hours. So for them to say that they need to protect themselves by waiting for the payment to clear from my checking account is a lie because for an extra 10 bucks, they don't care if it clears first? There is no way for the money to travel faster because of 10 more dollars. So I got a hold of a supervisor and she did mention something about payments under $100 will clear quicker. We will see if this is the case.

She did contact my bank by three-way phone call to confirm the payment cleared, which the bank said it cleared the bank 3 days before (this was day 5). So it is evident that they are using the funds for a week or so before posting it to accounts. This was something that was not disclosed before getting the card. I asked a ton of questions and was told paying by checking account was free, but never told a 10-day wait. I have a Capital One cc and an Orchard (now owned by Capital One) cc. I pay the same way and if the payment was made by 5PM central, the funds show on my card the next business day. For this, they lose a star.

So now the up side of their card. I have yet to receive any bogus charges or harassing phone calls. No misconduct with my checking account. No online issues so far. I get free cash advances from them and my bank processes them for free. So I give them 3 stars for this.

I have both a Capital One-secured MasterCard and an unsecured Credit One bank Visa. Both started with a small limit of $400.00 each. I ruined my credit a few years back (Don't ask; it's a long story). Anyway, I have had the Capital One card for about 3 years now; and the Credit One, for 16 months. I started with a SC of 522, and as of today, April 26, 20012, my SC stands at 652 solely because of those 2 cards. I still have all that other bad stuff on my credit report, but over time, creditors don't look at it as bad as when I first ruined my credit.

I now have an unsecured MasterCard from Capital One (They converted my secured account to unsecured.) with a $1,600 credit line, and my Credit One Visa has a $1000 limit. Plus, I just was approved for a Wal-Mart credit card with a $1,100 limit. If you are trying to rebuild your credit, here is some advice.

It takes time to undo what you did to your credit and nothing you do can make it faster. So, get a sub-prime card and don't use it, unless you can pay off the balance on your next statement and only use it every other month. Don't carry it with you; leave it at home. And so, you're not tempted to buy something you can't afford. If you can afford it, pay cash or don't get it! It will take 3 to 6 months to see a positive change in your credit score. Don't carry a balance on your card, because if you have a $300 limit and carry a $112 balance on it, that's a 35%+ usage of you available credit and that doesn't look good on a credit report. So keep your card below 5% (less than $15 if you have a $300 limit). If you have to use your $300 credit limit card to get by between paychecks, then you don't need a credit card.

I am living proof that sub-prime cards help people with credit problems, and it was easy too. I improved my SC 130 points in about 3 years and went from a secured card to $3,600 unsecured credit limits in the same time just by doing the thing I have listed below. Good luck.

You have a sub-prime card, because you don't qualify for a prime card. Sub-prime cards almost always start with a low credit limit, so you can build you credit score over time. You can't live off a $300.00 credit card, and you're not supposed to. You use a low credit limit card to build credit history. If you are late on your payment, you will be charged a late fee (even if it's only 1 day). Just because you paid your bill before the due date or more than the minimum, it doesn't mean you will have those funds available the next day, especially if you paid by check. Debit cards work like that; most credit cards don't, until you have made a few payments using that same checking account and have build a history of your checks clearing.

All credit card companies give you a website to manage your account for a reason. It is your responsibility to monitor your account for payment dues date, available credit, current charges, membership fees that are due or coming up, last payment applied to your account, etc. If you have $26 available credit and your annual membership fee or another charge is $27, they will still charge the whole amount. And now, you are $1 over the limit and owe an over-the-limit fee. That's your fault, not the credit card company's. Don't try to live off your new credit card; you will fail. Pay the account in full every month before the due date.

I opened my Credit One Bank account in 2006. I paid on it faithfully every month. I lost my mortgage career in August of 2007 and had to live on credit until I found work. My limit on my Credit One Bank card was $1,050. As I approached the spending limit, the constant fees and interest charges pushed me over my $1,050 limit. The Interest rate was 23.9% APR. Credit One Bank was charging an annual fee which occurred monthly on my statement for $6.50 as well as a $23 interest charge. Once I was pushed over my spending limit by Credit One Bank's fees, more fees began to incur. There was a $29 over the limit fee. Because my payments were not bringing me under the spending limit, they charged a $29 late fee for every month the account was not brought under the spending limit. My minimum payment began to grow every month.

Once I was over the limit, Credit One Bank revoked my ability to pay them online. I was forced to call my payment in monthly. For making a payment over the phone, Credit One Bank would charge a payment fee of $7.95. My account was incurring the listed fees monthly: $29 over the limit fee; $29 late fee; $23 interest charge, being called a cash advance; $7.95 credit card fee to pay the bill; $6.50 annual fee deducted monthly; $95.45 total (monthly incurring fees and charges). I tried desperately to work with Credit One Bank and regularly paid at least $50-$90 per month but the debt wouldn't reduce unless I brought the balance below the spending limit which was now requiring a $400 payment.

My debt kept growing because of the constantly recurring fees. Several failed attempts to get resolved over the phone were unsuccessful. They wouldn't allow me to speak to upper management and would often hang up on me or put me on hold for up to an hour. I finally stopped paying Credit One Bank and am now facing a judgement from Razor Capital, LLC for $2,133.12. I do not dispute that I owe Capital One Bank $1,050 and I would like to settle for the amount that I owe. The fees incurred, I feel, were predatory. I have several other credit cards in good standing or paid off. Those banks are fair in their lending practices as opposed to Credit One Bank's outlandish fees and poor customer service. Thank you.

First of all, they only allow you to use amounts less $1.00 on your account. I guess this is to try to get you over your limit. When you post a payment from your checking account, they make the amount available after 8 days. That's ridiculous, it's an electronic payment. They are trying to get you to make an express payment for $9.00 more, that's ridiculous.

I'm going to pay off this card and close this account. They even design their logo to look like and to confuse potential victims that it’s Capital One Bank. Please tell anyone not to get suckered by this scam artist masquerading as a bank.

I can't get into my account, cannot change billing info, late charge posted the day before payment was due, payment not posted to account, tried to pay total amount owed and the payment did not include interest so I'll need to make another payment which costs $9.95 each time. Do not give them your bank routing /account info, which is their free payment.

I would like to thank this community forum regarding Credit One. Here is the link: https://www.consumeraffairs.com/credit_cards/credit_one.html. Thanks to all the fine people who posted in the link I provided above. I would like to share with you what happened to me maybe what I did will help to give people a clue and help assist in not falling victim to Credit One.

So, I receive a Credit One application in the mail and called the 800 number. The rep ask for the pre-authorization code and I gave it to him. Rep asked for my name, Social Security card number and address (nothing more). Rep says, "You are approved and will receive your card in approximately three weeks." Something about what I described above did not sit well with me so since I work at a TV station where I live and we have a fabulous consumer reporter, I ran the conversation. I explained above by our consumer reporter. Here is what our consumer reported asked and told me: My consumer reporter asked if Credit One asked for any income information/verification (answer no). My consumer reporter asked if Credit One asked for employment information (answer no). My consumer reporter asked if Credit One asked about out stand debts such as alimony, child support some that is not a usual expense such as a mortgage or car payment as example.

Half way through the questions, my co-worker asked and he said it is a scam. Companies like Credit One do a person's credit more harm than good unless you give in to their bully tactics so cancel the card. My co-worker further advised that under Federal law they have to cancel the card upon my request. So here is what happened: Knowing the weekend people are not as seasoned as regular weekday staff, I called about an hour ago with my phones recorder rolling to record everything syllable said.

Gosh, ** call number one, the rep hung up on me but call number two using an internal number I pulled from the system at work put me right through to a rep asap and he was as kind as could be. The rep asked me for the information they originally asked for to process the card. I said please cancel the card I do not want it, do not need it. He asked why. I said that is my business, just please cancel the card. I was disappointed I thought I was going to be in for some fireworks so I could blog the audio on my work blog page and make consumers aware but that did not happen. He canceled the card, end of conversation.

There are two reasons I am writing this post in this thread: 1. What they did not ask me did not make sense so I checked it with one of my reporters; 2. Had they not flip flopped and not asked certain questions, I never would have had a reason to Google them which is what lead me to this thread. Thanks for the heads up guys. Hopefully, what I have written will help someone else. I hope the red flags I listed will give anyone the heads up. These guys are not a legit card business in terms of serving its customers' best interest. They will hurt your credit score. A good reliable site I found to check legitimate and illegitimate card carriers is ** . Fill out the web form with the companies name, submit it and they will reply. Thanks for reading and I hope this post helps someone.

I have received several phone calls on my answering machine asking for "Chester **." Aside from the fact that Chester has been dead for a year, he was a cat and did not use the phone. When I got a call tonight, I picked up the phone and (eventually) was told that the call was from something called "Credit One Bank" and had to do with collection. The caller (eventually) gave me a toll-free number. I (eventually) worked my way up to someone identified as a supervisor, but all I was able to get was that he would stop the calls. I believe that if these "Credit One" people are not complicit in the apparent fraud, they would want to cooperate in tracking down the perpetrator. This is not the case. In fact, when I asked for an address, all I was given was a P.O. Box. I think most banks have actual physical locations.

The only way that Chester's name is legitimately associated with my phone number is through his veterinarian. The vet knows that he was a cat and that he's dead. I want to pursue this, since I feel that I am vulnerable to other fraud and don't want my credit ruined. This is very frightening to me, and I want to be able to protect myself.

To stop this, send a letter to your state Attorney General, state you complaint in the letter, and sent a copy of this list of these complaints. Mark the ones similar to your complaint. They (AG) will look into this. If enough people do this, Credit One will clean up their act. Credit One could be forced to clean up the negative marks on your credit report. Report them to the BBB too. I'm just three weeks away from applying for a house and Credit One has placed a late payment on my account which will make it impossible to get an FHA loan. I couldn't get into my account online and couldn't get a live person to help me for days. They said their computer was down. They promised no late fee would show up on my account. Well, it's not on the statement part but it's there hidden on another page.

I told him that I would like to close my account. He suggested that I change my account number and he will have a new card sent to me and will hold all charges and dispute them. Problem solved, right? Sounds too good to be true, though—and it was! I just received a letter informing me that after all the investigation, they found that I have authorized all the charges; therefore, I am responsible for the charges. This is about $400.00 worth of unauthorized charges. I went online and read all the complaints and found out I am not the only one who is being taken for a ride by this company. Questions: What are we going to do about this? And what can we do about this? This is very sad!

I called and spoke to a woman who told me that they did need a copy of my social security card. I told her that I was not going to provide this as I didn't want it to end up in the wrong hands, I didn't want it to be used for the wrong reasons and I've never ever had to provide a copy of my social security card to any company that I got a credit card from. I also told her that it seemed strange that I would have to provide this information to them. I asked to speak to a supervisor or to their fraud department. She would not do this and they would go ahead and cancel my application since I was unwilling to provide a copy of my social security card.

I don't understand why a copy of my social security card would be needed. My husband didn't have to provide this information to them. I'm 50 years old, I own a house with my husband, I have several loans out, I have had credit cards since I was aged 18 and I've been working since I was 12 years old. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this type of situation occur.

I hope you can help me figure out what is really going on with my account. I made a payment in December from my Chase saving account for $25. I've made payments from this account before and I made my January payment for $75 using my US Bank checking account. I went online to see balance only to find out a block has been placed on my account because they can't "verify" my payments. I have no idea what that means. I faxed (twice) and mailed both of my bank statements and letter from the manager from US Bank stating this was my account and the payment came from my account. Now, I'm getting the run around on why they won't remove this block. They keep saying call back next week, call back in 5-7 days. I told them that it would have been a better procedure to notify the customer before you place a hold especially since I've done nothing wrong. Suppose I was checking into a hotel or needed a rental car thinking everything was ok.

This verification of payments should have been removed the first time I faxed my bank statements showing where the monies were debited from. Could you please find out what the hell is going on? Once you do I want to close this account and pay it off as I do not trust this company with this shady practice. Also, I keep getting different stories and I even spoke to a manager last Saturday, January 28 and he said the block will be removed on February 4th. I called to check and not only is it not removed, now no one has my information. I finally received a letter stating if I don't comply with sending the documentation (which I have 3 times) they will close my account and report me to the credit bureaus. For what? Making a payment from different accounts and the money has been debited? Can someone please help me find out what "verify" payments mean? Any help would be appreciated.

I paid my other credit card same way, no problem. I work two jobs and my part time pay is deposited in one account and my main income is deposited in another, so it all depends which account I would like to pay from which I thought I had that right. I'm just upset that no prior notification was given. They should have sent a letter saying if we don't receive the documentation by such and such a date, then we will suspend card and not the other way around especially since I did nothing wrong and I'm being made to feel like a criminal.

Desired resolution: no settlement required but this is a shady practice of not informing a customer before an account is suspended. All of the call center reps are reading from a script. I mean no deviation from reading from their piece of paper with trying to help you. If this was on the up and up, they would have seen my two faxes in addition to what I mailed which should all have been uploaded to an image server for viewing by a call center rep and that rep would have been able to see that my accounts are in my name and the payments came from my account.

Well, they called me and I explained to them that I could not afford the full payment for the previous bill, but the next payment was for x amount of dollars and it would get to them before the next due date. This was completely unacceptable. He literally demanded payment over the phone by debit card and asked me, and I quote, "How much money do you make? What date do you get paid? Do you get paid weekly or bi-weekly? Why can't you pay it right now? Why didn't you pay the full amount last month? Do you have any friends or relatives that can loan you the money? How much money is in your bank account?".

It was completely ridiculous that I was treated that way. I explained to him over and over that I was sending in a payment on x day from my BillPay of x dollars and that he wasn't getting it today as it affects my budget system and that he would get it before the due date, but he continued to say he needed payment right then. I eventually hung up after this 15-minute conversation and then added the number to my block list. My financial situation had improved dramatically in 2011, so I decided to start trying to rebuild my credit. I got a credit card with Credit One Bank, paid for monthly "credit protection insurance" to cover costs, should I be laid off from my job. A few months after I was approved for a credit card, I was subsequently laid off from my job. They denied my credit protection insurance, and refused to work with me, regarding a payment arrangement. Before I was laid off from my job, I was making all the payments on time. When I say they denied the credit protection insurance, I mean exactly that I signed up for it, was charged for it monthly, and when the time came that I actually needed it, they denied it out of hand.

I tried to make a payment arrangement, but because I was laid, off they denied that out of hand. After denying my "credit protection" insurance, and refusing to work with me on a payment arrangement, I was still unemployed, so there was not much I could do. They began calling me more than 10 times a day (including 2-3 calls before 9 AM on Saturday and Sunday mornings). I have finally found new employment, and I am in a situation again to begin making payments, however in the meantime, $255.00 of penalty fees have accrued on my account (which I see as ridiculous and excessive). Actually, the $255.00 is outdated. The penalties, as of now, exceed the original debt. I am ending up owing more in fees and penalties, than the original debt!

Being laid off from my job was out of my hands. I reacted as responsibly as could be expected, and Credit One Bank refused every attempt I made to rectify the situation. Credit One Bank has effectively manipulated my bad fortune, to double their profit (in the process violating consumer protection laws regarding harassment)! I feel as though the public should be warned about this company, and ask that your organization make their practices known, so others do not go through what I've gone through. I believe there can be no question that the amount and frequency of the calls they made, constitute a violation to both the Federal and State respective Fair Debt Collection Practices Law.

The rep on the phone asked me if I was sure I wanted to cancel and I said yes and he said my balance would be credited and the account would be closed. Also stated it would take up to 21 days for this to take affect. I'm nervous that if I don't make the payment of $75 that I will get dinged for a late bill and then this company will send this to collections, etc based on all of the negative reviews I have been reading. My name is Paula **, and I was a Credit One card holder, or I am trying not to be.

In June, BBVA, another credit card company, tried to transfer the balance of the Credit One card to their account and were told you didn't do transfers. I inquired as well, and you told me the same story. On June 16, 2011, I made a normal payment of $63.95, and by June 29, you received a check for $523.13 to close the account.

I received another notice of a balance and was told there was a remaining $11.00. I was also told if I wanted to pay my bill immediately, there was a $10.00 express payment fee. Even though I thought this was wrong, I paid $21.00 on July 20 to finalize and pay off this account. This account has never been closed, and I am at wit's end on what to do to get it closed.

On July 20, I talked to a Tracy ** at 12:30 pm who assured me she would get it closed. After more e-mail notices, I called on August 9 at 11:40 am and was given assurance it would be closed and was even given a confirmation number. I was also told a letter would be sent to confirm this. More e-mails came saying I was past due.

I called on September 6 at 10:00am and was told the same story that my account would be closed and a letter would be sent. On September 27, I talked to a Matthew who said he was a supervisor but could not give me a last name according to policy, and he would personally get a letter out to me. No letters ever arrived. I did ignore my e-mail for a time, thinking it hadn't caught up yet with the resolution. More e-mails came, and I called at 10:04am on January 12, demanding that I talk to a supervisor. I was disconnected after waiting on the line until 10:25am.

At 3:30 pm, I called back when I finished work and talked to Stanley, again no last name allowed, a supervisor who assured me he would personally close this account and send me a letter saying as much.

Today, it is January 17, 2012, and my balance is $0.01. I expect more fees and charges to be added on as they have, since I closed this account on and on and on.

What does a person need to do to close an account with you? I don't know what else to do. As of today, I am writing TV stations, the Better Business Bureau, and a lawyer. If this hurts my credit in any way I will take legal action. Saying I want prompt attention to this matter is long past. This is so incredibly ridiculous that I shudder to think how you hold down the people with bad credit (this is who your target audience is) and make them prisoner to your card and fees. Ten dollar fee for making a prompt payment? No balance transfers? No closing of accounts no matter what is done?

Sincerely upset and going to resolve this on my end,

    Paula **

In early November 2011, I received an offer for a credit card and I knew that Black Friday would be here soon so I applied in order to capture the tremendous deals for the holidays. I went online on November 7 and applied for the card, I was approved for $1000.00. After about a week or so, I logged on to the site to check the status. It only stated that the application was in process. I then waited about a week or so, then called in and spoke with someone from India or someone from another country. I was informed that they needed more information. I also receive a notice in the mail asking for a utility bill or wage statement and a state ID. I mailed photo copies in.

About 7 days later, I called in and someone says that the SSN on file does not match their records and I need to send in a copy of the SSN card and a utility bill. I inform the Rep. that I had mailed my wage statement and ID already, because the letter stated one or the other (wage or utility bill). I then was given a fax number to continue the application process. I faxed over the request. I called 7 days later, they informed me that the application is in process and that was all. About a week later, I received another letter in the mail stating that they needed my ID and another utility bill. I really wasn't going to submit any thing until Ms. Williams informed me that she'd have the documents faxed directly to her to speed the process up. I never heard anything else from them.

On Jan. 4, 2012, I received an email telling me that my card has shipped. I will not be keeping this. As soon as I receive it I will be canceling it and I would like my personal documents back and some sort of credit watch due to them having everything concerning my credit.

Credit One Bank, a real joke, the actual bank does not exist, only a small office in Las Vegas. The call centers are in India and in the Philippines. No US call center. They are considered a predatory lender. This is not the company to deal with. File complaints with the BBB in southern Nevada and at the Federal Trade Commission.

They prey intentionally on those consumers with low credit scores. If you're looking to improve your credit with a legit card and a real bank consider these options: A Orchard Bank Card at Orchardbank.com or Household Bank at househodbank.com both of these can pre-qualify you without hurting your credit score. Also try Capitalone at Capitalone.com, they also will let you pre-quailfy without hurting your score. If you cant get qualified with one of those cards, try a secured card through one of the big banks. They all offer them and the fees are comparable to any real card. Bank of America, US Bank, Citibank, USAA, Capitalone, and HSBC all offer secured cards at really good fees that can help you establish better credit.

If you have problems, which most of you will with Credit One, close your account both by phone and in writing. Closing your account will not hurt your credit score unless you don't pay them. If you're late or have unsettled disputes, your probably going to end up with damaged credit. However, there are ways as described earlier to protect yourself. Also, if damaged credit occurs, you can also dispute information through the three leading credit agencies, transunion, eqifax, and experian. You're entitled to one free credit report with each agency once a year. You can file disputes for free. Hope this info helps everyone.

Credit One Bank is a phony and a completely fraudulent company! They lie, cheat, and steal people out of their money! I received a pre-approved. Since I filed bankruptcy 3 years ago, I thought that it would be a good way to rebuild my credit. So I applied. I was approved for a $400 credit limit. After waiting 4 weeks for my card, the next day I got a bill for $87 for fees. I had already used my card which made me liable for those charges!

I canceled my card immediately when I called and could not get anyone to speak English because I was talking to someone is India. I’m sorry, but when I am dealing with my credit I am not giving anyone that can’t speak English my info. They call me non stop 15-20 times day/night! Still no English and when you demand someone to speak English, they hang up on you! I filed a complaint with the BBB of Nevada, and they never emailed me back. I guess they are members! Which was probably the smartest business decision this crook company did, because if they weren’t they would be shut down! Credit One Bank is a crook. They lie, cheat, steal, and rack up fees. The Credit One logo is similar to the Capital One logo. I applied for a credit card thinking it was Capital One (my error). I received an e-mail saying the card is on it's way at which time I realized it was Credit One. The card arrived and it says you have to call the number within 14 days to activate or the account will close. Then I received notification from ScoreSense that they were reporting to the credit report companies. Next I received a bill for $81. Remember, I applied but never opened an account with them. Yesterday I received an e-mail reminder telling me to call and activate, which I am not going to do. I have reported them to the BBB of Southern Nevada. The BBB closed the complaint within 24 hours (I suspect that is because Credit One is a member).

So I filed another complaint telling the BBB to do their job and mediate. I have written 2 letters to Credit One telling them I did not open an account and to reverse all the damage they are potentially doing. I have written the Attorney General of Nevada to look into Credit One's practice. And now I am suggesting to all others who run into this company to be careful and if they do anything fishy be sure to jump onto them, don't let them ruin your credit or open an account without your consent.

The situation is still in the works. I am waiting for the second BBB response to see if they are going to mediate. I am waiting on a response from the Attorney General. I will be writing up the disputes with the credit reporting companies today. I suspect Credit One will reverse all the actions they have taken in order to prevent further action, but we still have 25 days to find that out.

So I went back online and paid again, this time using my bank account debit card. A week later, that came back bad too. I called them and they told me that when they tried to take the money out of my account, it told them that my bank account did not exist. They said they would need a bank validation letter from my bank in order to validate my account.

So I called my bank and went to the local office and asked them to send a validation letter to them and they did. My bank confirmed at that time that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my bank account and even confirmed that Credit One never even attempted to take the money from my account. This place is nothing more than a scam. They try everything possible to make your payments late or tag on fees for this or that. I was getting called Sunday morning at 7:30am by automated notification of the returned payment. I called their foreign customer service and they immediately asked to verify my bank account number for the returned payment. I began reading the number to them when suddenly the representative cut me off and said my that I entered my account number incorrectly and that was the reason for the returned payment. I told them that was incorrect because my wife and I both verified the number and we entered it twice for verification.

They said that's what I typed on the computer. I asked them to waive one of the two fees for both returned payments of $25 fees and they told me yes, at first. Then they put me on hold to speak to the supervisor, Peggy most likely, and returned saying they couldn't do that because it had not posted on my account. I said it shows a posting date already and it's already charged and I have a reference # for it. The studdering representative then told me to call back and hung up. Scam. Scam. Scam. I, Regina **, gave him all the information necessary to proceed with the re-entry of the information required, necessary to re-submit for payment. That went through. Well, you disregarded my ability and rights to make decisions. And you choose not to acknowledge my rights as a cardholder and person who has access and the rights to make electronic decisions via my checking and savings account. This causes me great concerns. Therefore, I am canceling the credit card. As a result of you temporary suspending my online portion of this account without an explanation to me, I choose to close this account. And you can submit to proceed with that request formally. You do not need to contact the other person on the checking account with this request, because they are not on this credit card account. Thank you. You temporary suspended my account (acct # **). I do not at all appreciate your business.

Why is it that every time you make a payment with Credit One Bank, they charge you a fee of $9.95? Why do they take that payment off your credit card and why is it that your apr is 24%? Also, why is it that your interest rate is high and your annual fee is being charged every month? Obviously, they're taking $19.90 from me a month and giving me an apr for 24%. I am being charged $8.00 a month just for the interest which is ridiculous! This company needs to be investigated as soon as possible. They're using their customers instead of helping them.

Every time I have contacted this company, there is always something. I have been charged late fee for every single month I have paid on time, I was late once. They used to charged me $25.00, now they charged me $35.00 late fee because they said that the late fee is based on what I have over the limit on that account. I wouldn't be over the limit in the first place, but with the new charges they had imposed me, late fee plus interest of 24% plus! I had enough. This weird people, they have a response for everything you say. $9.95 dollars to make a payment, if you lose your card it's $25.00, late fee every month? $25, now 35. This is a scam company. Every time I would call them, it's like they are from another country. It's hard to understand them and they are rude. Now, I still have the same debt amount I had with them and more after being paid $75.00 for letting me use this credit card.

I just wrote a complaint yesterday. And then, I realized something else. My annual fee taken out monthly has been raised without my knowledge. It is now a whopping $99 per year. I have the legal right to opt out of any such increase but if I am not notified, I have no options. I spoke to their rep about it. She said that back in April of 2011, I was notified it would be going up in June. I then asked her if I got a notice in April of an increase in June. Why did it not go up until August? She had no response. I have all my invoices from them and could find no such notice. With all the problems I've had, I went so far as to ask her if Credit One was actually a bank.

It seems that no matter when I make my payments, Credit One Bank holds my funds. I pay online with my checking account, and the money is usually taken out the same day from my account. It takes no longer than three days (per my bank). I just made my payment on 9/20/2011, and my funds are not available until 9/28/2011. I believe this is their closing date. Even if I made it last week, the same applies.

I had a big argument with them when they told me that the money goes to some government agency first. I thought it was a law that the posting had to be on the day they receive the payment. They have my money immediately and I should be able to use it immediately also. They are using the extra time to hold onto the customer's money to invest and make more. If I didn't need the money at that time, I never would have used the card they sent me. They are horrible to deal with. Scam? Maybe!

And they use EST, so if your payment on the west coast is not made by the EST deadline, then you are also issued a late fee, even if on same day of due date. There are sneaky fees at every turn.

Just want people to be aware that not only do they charge a fee to set up and get the card, but they also charge a daily fee just for using the card. If you (monthly) get a bill and pay it in full on or prior to the due date, you are still charged interest just for using the card. It's (per them what President Obama suggests) a finance charge on the average daily balance. So regardless, if you do not carry over a balance you are still being charged, a finance charge for the average daily balance of the prior month's usage.

Customer service was terrible in explaining this and just kept reading canned message that this is what President Obama's credit card act suggests.

Meanwhile, I called Credit One and explained the situation. On August 10th, the payment I made on the August 6th was returned. I made another $50 payment on August 12th online and on time; my due is on August 13th.

One month later, my debt counselor made me aware that the proposal has remained in the pending status since the submission in early April of 2011. First, I want to say that credit companies that take advantage of people at their lowest moment (after BK) are lower than bottom feeders. I opened a card with them after my BK was discharged. I wanted to start establishing credit and they gave me a $300.00 credit line with a $75.00 fee and so, available credit was $225.00. I have had this card for 2 years now and my credit has increased to $650.00 but not without cost.

Every time they increase your limit it comes with a price; whatever they want to charge you on that day. My first increase from $300 to $500 was "free" but then, I noticed an increase to $650.00, a $150.00 increase, and they charged me $75.00! Then, I had my wallet stolen and had to cancel my cc. I was told that they would be imposing a $25.00 as lost/stolen card replacement fee! Then, they had the gull to ask if I wanted a credit line increase of $100.00 that would cost me $25.00. They didn't volunteer that information. I had to ask what it would cost to have an increase.

After I told them, "Absolutely not," I also told them to keep their card and that I will be paying them off and closing this account. They said it would still cost me $25.00 to change the number on the account! These people seriously need to be shut down. They are taking advantage of hard working people who are trying to just get through this life.

He explained to me how their system works with charging fees. I asked how can I get a credit back since I did make my payment on my due date. He told me he was unable to refund my late charge of $35.00. I then asked for a manager and was transferred to Amy ID# **, whom then explained to me I supposedly made my payment after the cutoff time of 2pm EST on Saturday. She, too, refused to waive the late charge. Again, I then asked for her supervisor which she said was a person by name of Kim who was not ever available.

This Kim person is never available, however, she too supposedly explained the fee is charged but if I had have made the payment before cutoff time, then it would have washed out but still refused to give me my money back. I made my ** payment on the due date 08/27/11 of $37.00 and was assessed a late charge the day before on 08/26/11 of $36.00. I am highly pissed at this kind of practice. I applied for and received a credit card with a limit of $300. I never made a transaction on the card. I did not realize that when the card was sent to me. The company automatically charged me a $60 annual fee.

Since I never used the card and it sat in my house, I didn't think to check the account. I started receiving harassing phone calls up to 20 a day. When I finally spoke with someone, they told me that I owed almost $200 in interest and late fees on a charge that they put on my card, not on any money that I borrowed. They have now sent my account to collections, claiming I owe them $527.27 in fees on a card I never used, even though I did pay the $60 for the annual fee.

It is ludicrous to expect anyone to pay over $500 in fees and interest on fees when they never even used the credit card!

They have called every day 6 or more times an hour. Even after I told them that he was deploying and that we didn't want to be harassed (considering they are asking me, the one who is not the account holder about how I am paying my bills), the entire time right before he leaves, they continued to do so.

This was my grocery money for the month. Their ignorance and harassment lead to closing that account. They called with threats and promised me trouble. Then they went and tried to collect more money and found no account. While they said I authorized this; not the account being closed and never asking me for the new account. They ruined me and now I think I should go to court with charges against them. They will never get another dime from me. I'm on Social Security Disability and I need meds and food at the same time.
