This software is fabulous and the support team can't be beat. It was the ONLY antivirus software that was able to clean a virus off my computer. At the time that I got the virus I did not have Trend Micro, however, they provided a FREE virus scan and cleaned my computer. I have been with them for about 12 years now and have not had a virus since then. They are the best!

I've recently had my laptop completely overhauled and so I wanted to make sure I got safe, predictable antivirus protection. I went to a officeworks store and purchased trend micro maximum security internet protection and followed the directions in the packet. I got this problem straight away saying that although it recognized my validation code, it was unable to be activated until I called the number on the screen.
I called it and it all seemed kosher until this guy said it wouldn't work and could he remotely access my pc as there were some problems with the settings and he could fix them. I thought this was possible since my computer was like new and I hadn't done anything to it yet. So he was bringing up all these complex looking system files one after the other and said that I had a serious problem, a few of them, firstly my IP address has been compromised, and that the settings showed a bunch of insecured violations from somebody who had accessed my computer and kept saying complicated jargon that totally freaked me out. My hair was standing on end!!
He said he could fix it all up, and also give me another year of trend micro free for the bargain price of $299!! Isn't that wonderfully generous! I nearly swallowed my tongue, and just said, "No I can't afford that." He then gave me $100 off so a bargain price of just $199. I said I still can't do it, he basically just hung up on me. I spent the next few days trying to find out what was wrong with my computer, my IP address and wondering what the hell I was gonna do with this internet security that I had just wasted $40 on.
I went on their site (not the one listed on the pack) and lo and behold the site looked different, the phone number was different. So I called them and they had no reference to me having ever calling and trying to activate my license, at all. I was able to activate my antivirus with no problem. I then told him about my experience and he didn't seem overly concerned at all.
I had to really emphasize the fact that I purchased this pack from a very large, well known chain and it was obviously a scam. He asked me for the link address and once I told him said that it was an old expired web address that they no longer use. He really couldn't have cared less. I emphasized again that he needed to tell the manager or something. He said okay and hung up.
I kept getting emails from Trend Micro, I'm not sure why but they were driving me crazy with them. I ignored them and finally after 2 weeks, for some reason it's asking me for the activation code again, like I never even had it, or purchased or activated. I had returned the pack to the store and they are dealing with the fake packs as well they gave me a refund, so I uninstalled it and will NEVER use it again or recommend it to anyone.
VERY suspicious, it's possible the whole company (Trend Micro) has been compromised by either disgruntled ex-employees or employees who are moonlighting for extra cash. Dangerous anti virus, seems a new way of these scumbags to get to us and our hard earned money. I work 3 frickin jobs to make my ends meet, I don't lie and cheat and pretend to be someone I'm not. I no longer trust these Asiatic call centre types. They cannot be trusted.

I am glad that I changed to Trend Micro for my antivirus and ransomware protection. I use it on all my devices as well as my phone and have had good results. On occasion it has found that someone was trying to gain access to one of my computers and I was alerted immediately. Another reason I am pleased with Trend Micro is that I have control of the software on my computers and that application on my android devices. I would highly recommend Trend Micro for home or for a business.

I had been a long time user of Trend Micro products... on 5 PCs. Because Trend Micro's antivirus protection was slipping and because their price per seat was rising, I went with Norton Antivirus. Well, guess what's been showing up on my PC and displaying unwanted popups, Trend Micro! I had run Revo Uninstaller and tried to get rid of them. They won't go away. Question, do you want to trust your data to a company that gets into your computer and won't go away? I no longer trust or respect Trend Micro.

Trend Micro has been ripping us off for years. We just learned that Trend has been charging us for their Antivirus software renewals for 3 years even though we don't even own that computer anymore. It crashed 3 years ago under the watchful protection of their great software so there was no way to cancel the renewal that we unknowingly signed up for. This type of "fine print" authorization should be against the law and Trend should be ashamed of scamming people that have not even updated their software in years. They lost a customer for life and I will trash them every chance I get unless they refund our money.

When adding additional licenses on Trend Micro they will charge the full term cost, but short term end your new added licenses to the expiration date of your previous licenses. They only show the short term end date of the added licenses after payment and check out. Called customer support but they would not adjust the price to fit the short term of the added licenses. Trend Micro scams their own customers!

This software was inefficient and hard to use so I canceled it 2 years ago and replaced it with Avast, which is excellent. Trend Micro charged my bank card $80 without any notification a month ago. When I called to reverse the charge, they claimed it had exceeded a 30 period (whatever that means) and would not reverse the charge. This is FRAUD. A charge of this kind should always be accompanied by a notification email. Don't buy this product!

Badly slows down PC, for few minutes after boot, the PC is effectively useless when TM starts. And the user is NOT able to kill TM process at that stage. Then when TM stabilizes it non stop eats ~ 50% of the CPU. The only way to make the PC functional again is to EXIT the TM (luckily at this stage this is at least possible). So in summary on the fly security protection is gone (after exiting TM) which denies the purpose of buying security SW for an online protection. But I must admit that at least the SCAN run manually yielded 100% clean PC so far. I contacted TM about the amount of CPU that it steals and I have received NO REPLY - They simply do not care!

Someone with a computer name ** used my name, license number, etc. to install the software. I don't know this person and have never given my information out to anyone. TM customer service was EXTREMELY unhelpful in this regard - quite rude actually! Refused to issue me another license #. Also, the software is largely useless - lets hackers through Internet Security AND slows down my computer significantly. I changed my PW several times, with no effect whatsoever. I wish I could rate it a ZERO or even minus zero.

Purchased premium cover for up to 6 devices. It causes Windows devices (laptops and surface pro tablet) to run at snail's pace or freeze completely. Forget about the master password protection - it expects some complicated master password to be created, that you have to use every time for it to log you in... Instead of the easily accessible, saved password that you would otherwise be using. Forget using it on your iPhone, it wants to be running in the background ALL THE TIME to do anything (such as tracking your data usage). Totally a waste of money - I had never before paid for antivirus software, having always been well catered for by AVG free. Cannot say the Trend Micro product is worth paying for, in fact, totally the opposite.

Sadly, I have been infected a twice with a virus and had to pay good money to have them removed. The most recent occurred May, 2016 and it cost me $159.99. I contacted Trend to discuss this, and, in short got nowhere. However, I did find out, after being a subscriber for 4 years that I could have contacted them for help. Who knew! I found out the hard way. I have been getting monthly reports from Trend telling me my PC is threat free. Yet I have been infected. Trend security has failed me miserably. I will not renew and most likely switch to Kaspersky's. Too much to explain here, other than NOT HAPPY with Trend's lack of customer care.

The only times I had issues with this software was when I was renewing my subscription. For whatever reason the renewal either did not reload properly, or wanted to charge for another download. In each instance I communicated with the vendor and always had complete satisfaction with the fix. It was mostly annoying not trouble. After bad experiences with another brand I went with Trend Micro (was called Guard Dog back then) because of good reviews I had read. Trend Micro caught them all and always let me know what it was they stopped and provided a detailed report.
In the early days the price was less than the competition with what I considered to be much better protection. Like I have said; never did I have any kind of malware get through to my system & I used this software at least 10 years, maybe longer. The only reason I stopped is in 2011, I went with a Mac system and did not feel it was necessary any longer. I considered it to be quality software at a reasonable price. I used my Windows PC extensively for both business and personal use and never had any malware that made it into my system. I never had to professionally clean my system up of unwanted programs either. I especially liked that Trend Micro did the work I needed it to do without being very intrusive like many of the competition.

Whether I forgot my password or switched the activation from one computer to another one, it can be done promptly without a single phone call. It protects but not blocks even a suspicious website. If I confirmed that wasn't, the software will remember. It's powerful with half the price that I paid for other name brand antivirus software. It caught a lot of viruses without bothering me for 2 years in a row and I am still using it. Try it yourself to believe, I prefer not to hot sell it to other.

They're very helpful and knowledgeable but lack a sense of genuine concern. I would have rated them better, but recently they made changes which do not allow other anti-spyware systems on my computer. There is no single anti-spyware is going to, by itself, catch more than 70-75%. I want the flexibility of using other programs such as Malwarebytes. Because of the aforementioned problem I will not be auto-renewing this year. I have always liked Trend Micro. Their Housecalls was the ONLY thing I found back in the late 90s which identified, helped me to isolate and then dispose of the WIN95CIH virus.

Finally, I realized that I was already downloaded and should of ignored these pop ups. After an experience with malware or some malicious intrusion on my computer, Trend Micro turned off. I tried to download the programs and was informed that I was out of downloads and had to buy the program again! There was never any instructions about the downloading so this took me by surprise! I called the phone # on my receipt and the tech person was deceitful. He helped me download one computer then told me to do the rest by myself and got off the phone. Well, guess what... I bought Trend Micro Maximum Security 10 as I was conned by a salesman at Best Buy. This is WORSE than junk as its practically Malware in itself! You get no CD only a card with "instructions". When you go to the website recommended, the card becomes worthless as I had at least 10 additional steps that are not stated on the card and most required making choices with no explanation at all. When I backed out of it for the "Help" it was even worse. No phone number of any kind whatsoever.
I watched their "help video" which was even more worthless. Instead of telling you how to get through the 15 or so steps just to download, it only told you about the product once it was downloaded. After an hour or so, I got to where I input the password to "activate" the product.. And even that DID NOT WORK! I checked the code 3 times and even had my girlfriend look to see if I missed a digit! It just did not work.. Period! I immediately took this piece of crap back to Best Buy. Total garbage! This company should be put out of business!

I bought the Trend Micro product at Best Buy and there was no disc. I tried to install it from the paper instructions, to no avail, so I requested a disc be sent via mail. Two weeks went by, and no disc. In the meantime, I have a new laptop computer without virus protection. I called Trend and spoke to a technician, who supposedly was going to help me install it. He took remote control of my computer, and told me my laptop had corrupted firewall, and in order for him to install the program, I had to pay $249. I told him I didn't have $249, and he said I could pay some then, and then pay the rest later. Today, 10/2915, I called customer support and they gave my info to a technician, who came on the line and asked for my email address. He supposedly sent me a link for the installation. I waited several minutes, and no email, so he sent it again, and told me to check the spam folder.
I ended up having to get online and access the website with his instructions. I told him about my prior experience with a so-called technician (I did call Trend Micro), and he told me there was no way I talked to a Trend technician - it had to be a scam. He was very rude, and I just dropped it at that point. The installation completed, and 30 minutes later, I got 2 emails from him with directions about what to do - AFTER it was already done! I have used Trend for years, but this is the last time.

Been a client between 12 and 15 years - used auto renewal for many of them. Was satisfied. Approximately 18 months ago started getting malware infections (run a web based business with sensitive financial data and contracts on my home desktop), am very, very software savvy. When received notice that my Trend Micro Titanium was renewing on the 19th, phoned the company, spoke with sales and they recommended I upgrade to TM Max Security and save $20 the first year - that was on 12/18/14. Have always purchased premium support in addition. Was promised by sales that my auto renewal for the next day would be refunded with 7-10 days. I also canceled my auto renew at that time (new product wanted to be sure it worked as promised - which was it protecting me against malware as they said it would).
Received my bill and was billed for both products. Called TM and they said check next month's bill, we will process. In March 2015 it was still not refunded. Called back, emailed multiple times, have all the correspondence since December 2015 with PROOF I paid for both. Their offer is, since I did not cancel within 30 days - actually I cancelled the SAME day it was charged - that they will give me a "free" year. Not sure it's free if I've already PAID for it, is it? That's not my concern, my concern is I am still getting malware and they say their program does not work with the #1 malware program out there - which I had to cancel that annual subscription (which was credited immediately to my card) - and cannot recommend ANY malware program to remove the issues TM cannot. When asked for a customer service review, TM refused to post it as it was against their "policies".

First they said that I waited too long to put the 2nd one on to the 2nd laptop, then they sent me a new product # that still did not work. My solution is not to use Trend Micro again. No will I let family and friends use them. From now on, I will give them bad reviews. Let's show them what damages consumers can cause. Let's watch Trend Micro go down hill fast.

Trend Micro came on my Dell laptop and after security issues with my computer, I decided I wanted to use Norton 360. I realized that because I had bought an additional year of Trend, I was being automatically renewed by charging my credit card. I went to cancel and had a terrible time trying to reach someone who could cancel the subscription. There is no way they just let you opt out. Finally, after a series of phone calls, I have hopefully opted out. They make it very difficult hoping you won't bother. There should be an opt out.

I called about my subscription of Trend Micro Internet Security. The woman I got acted like it was a problem to deactivate my account because I found it on Bestbuy.com for $29.99 for the Trend Micro Titanium. The subscription does not do an update of the program and it looks the same and the Titanium looks newer, so why pay the $53 for the subscription? After her attitude and telling me that after you took my money it would take 1-2 months to get it back, because I like the program, I am out $90 until I get the refund for the subscription in a few months and I need to mark my calendar to ensure that I get the money back. Your people on the subscription is horrible. People are out of work and you have ugly people working for you. I have the credit on my calendar for 3 months out to ensure that they return my money because after I asked for a supervisor, no one called back.

My virus protection continues to turn off sporadically and if I am online I can turn it back on but I cannot get an answer from Trend why this happens. Also, they just advised me that it only protected from viruses if I am using "outlook" and not if I am using Yahoo or AOL or whatever.
Why am I paying money for this when they don't even put on their packaging that the protection is very limited and will not suit my needs if I don't use outlook? I recently had someone grab my email addresses and send out links to everyone on my contact list. For this, I pay money from my social security check which doesn't go that far in the first place?

I purchased a Toshiba computer and at the same time purchased Trend Micro Pro anti virus software based on their $50 rebate promotion. The rebate was only valid at Staples during the period August 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010. I submitted all required documents and received a post card indicating that your receipt date is not acceptable. Second the post mark (August 7, 2010) does not qualify for the rebate. This is a Staples only promotion and reflects on you.

Trend Micro using digital river to process cards has used my card for auto renewal after repeated attempts to stop auto renew over the past 16 months. After little relief from Trend Micro in Jan 2010, I resorted to deactivating my debit card at my bank stating that I was deactivating the card to protect against further fraudulent charges. In May of 2010, my account was again charged through the deactivated card with a forced and fraudulent expiration date. This is the problem. I only lost about $130 over the period of 16 months. These companies are by default auto renewing the software and collecting millions, one 50-dollar bill at a time and no one will do anything for 50 or 100 dollars.

PC-Cillin product update does not work with dial up internet. Large download takes 6 hours and restarts from beginning when connection fails (unlike most of their competiton which have downloads that pick up where they left off upon reconnection after failure.). Trend acknowledges the problem but refused to send CD to accomplish update. Was told by their customer service that I would need access to a better internet connection to use their product.

A computer newspaper columnist recommended this company's software product, PC-cillin, for virus protection. Their ads offered a $25 main-in rebate. I sent in the rebate form with everything filled out and included, UPC code stapled to the form. Approx. 5 weeks later, they sent a postcard saying my mailin was not complete and UPC code was not included and send it again.
Since I had copied everything I sent, I sent copies of all, again within two days. It has now been 6 weeks since that time and they are showing through their "Tracking" location, that the claim was denied due to incomplete submission. Their rebate tracking location is well laid out with all graphics enhanced towards denials. I wonder how much this company has profitted off their denied Rebates?

On April 22, 2005, Trend Micro sent auto update Pattern 594 for their PC-cillin Internet Security software to many thousands of their subscribers worldwide. The antivirus company's update acted like a virus, and disabled those computers. As a pacifier, they offered to extend the subscription by one year for U.S. customers (a value of $25), and by one month for customers in Japan.
My case # is 448458. My repair costs were $240. Due to a series of Catch 22s, I needed to devote 19 hours of my time to speaking with phone tech help at Dell, Verizon, and Trend Micro. I also spent 6 hours reinstalling and setting up typical types of software on the reformatted hard drive.
Trend Micro's legal dept. reviewed copies of my $240 receipts, sent on their request. I suggested they reimburse me the $240, or I would consider suing them in small claims court for $1,500. (Expenses, plus 25 hours of my time, rated at $50 per hour.) They denied any liablity to me and all other customers.

I ordered a FREE upgrade from the 2004 version to the 2005 version. I downloaded the updgrade via the Internet. I was billed for the upgrade. I brought this to their attention, but their response did not address the situation. They sent me a physical shipment of the upgrade, PLUS a $4.49 unlimited download option that I did not order or need. I have already downloaded the "FREE" upgrade and it is working normally on my computer.
