I had a laptop and had Best Buy install Trend Micro upon purchase. The laptop always seemed slow and lagging, needing to restart every time. Saw somebody else complain about that, and I was like, aha!. Anyway don't use that laptop, and have tried to cancel the auto renew for Trend for years. Frustrated, I had AmEx back out the charges, last year, only to find out that they agreed with Trend then when they showed them my Best Buy receipt from 2013. Hours and hours spent going down rabbit holes looking for how to cancel, looking for order numbers that don't exist, cancelation buttons that aren't on the page they said they were. Online customer service, 7th in queue? 1 minute wait time, OK, 4th in que, 8 minute wait time, 3rd in que, 11 minute wait time, so frustrating. Live chatting with robots that won't recognize the word cancel.
Calling customer service line for Trend and going down options on a phone tree until I ended up in Mexico with a rep whose connection was a tin cup on a string, neither of us could understand each other, had I known, I would have had Guinness on the other line for our attempt at how many times two people can say "what" back and forth. Gave up, said goodbye. Found a Best Buy customer service number, went down the phone tree options until I ended up in India, better connection but still trouble understanding each other. The person was very reluctant and kept trying to twist my words.
At this point I'd logged about 3 hours of time into cancelling this, just today, not counting last year's attempt. After saying "I want to cancel this auto-renew" I don't know how many times, he finally relented, but then it was like trying to "pry a kid's hand open to get your toy back". He finally gave me a cancellation case #. I asked for a confirmation email. That he wouldn't do, but said on the last day of my coverage (approx. a month from now) I would get an email alerting me of the discontinuation of services. Never again will I willfully buy a Trend product, nor do I have any desire to enter a Best Buy without exhausting all other options.

This was an included in price virus protection from Best Buy when I bought my laptop. I normally use Norton..but I gave it a try..was awful every time it scan 2 things had to restart laptop. First I thought wow must be bad to have to restart.. Mind you this is brand new laptop.. Should've been my 1st clue.. No every scan if it thinks it finds something for each 2 items you must restart your pc if it finds 4 things you will restart it twice like I said every 2 items.. So done with this.. Will continue with my Norton that's on desktops, other laptops & smart phones. Don't waste your money unless you want to waste a lot of your time rebooting.

I've been using Trend Micro Antivirus on my Mac since 2015 and it has never disappointed me. As compared to some other top rated antivirus, Trend Micro has the best scan results with blocking of online threats. Mostly I run scheduled scan for my Mac so, it keeps my data and laptop safe in the background. The updates are delivered on time, so you never stand a chance of the latest virus threat or phishing. Since their customer support is also co-operative, so I will continue to use Trend Micro.

I've been working with Trend Micro software for over 15 years. The corporation I worked with for many years used their enterprise protection, and I've used their consumer/home protection. Overall I've been happy with the software; useful reports across multiple devices, and effectively has caught and notified me when malicious happenings occur (sometimes installing valid software that is NOT a problem too [false postitive] which I was able to override).
There was a period some many years ago where their software seemed to cause excessive CPU utilization, but that hasn't been a problem for easily over 7 years now. And there was one case where NONE of the antivirus software detected a problem on my mom's computer (TM, Norton, Kaspersky, etc) but MalwareBytes DID identify a few problems. Given that experience, I put TM up with the best of them, and possibly MalwareBytes a notch higher based on that one experience. Understanding each software may catch something another may not, this assessment based on limited experiences truly is subjective.
As others have warned, be mindful of your "auto-renew" settings if you don't want a minor hassle when your license auto-renews and you try to have it undone. Happened to me and honestly it was not a big deal to have undone.. They were pretty good about the refund. The only real negative I'd say is that you'll often find better "new license" pricing at online resellers than the price of the renewal; I'd like to see renewal pricing for loyal members *significantly* lower than it currently is.

I am not sure that this is actually giving me the protection I was hoping for. It was part of my Best Buy packing for my new laptop. It's not what I would have purchased by any means. My work was looking at my computer and he applied his antivirus "Malware", I believe, and it found a virus that Trend did not pick up. I am wanting to change but there are so many out there. I don't know what is best.

I've had Trend Micro 3-4 years now, never noticed any major issues until the most recent update. This update wasn't compatible to my Mac so I had to call the company and fully install it that way. A few months afterwards, my laptop started to noticeable lag, apps wouldn't open, had trouble restarting/shutting down and my battery began to drain RAPIDLY. I almost had to purchase a whole new Macbook until a tech expert told me Trend Micro might be the issue and it was. Immediately after uninstalling, my laptop seems to be working fine.

I tried to remove this program in order to get a free protector from my internet company only to have a pop up come up saying that I must remove some of my files in order to remove trend program and I am not willing to do that because I did not have to remove any files when adding this program. I have contacted this company and waiting for a response before taking further action.

I purchased a software package in 2019 but download never worked and they never wanted to help so went on to purchase Kaspersky which has been great. However, today I was notified by my bank my account was in debit because Trend had apparently set up an auto payment. They just debit your account without notice. I contacted them and after to and fro-ing they issued a refund but would not have a bar of giving me back the $30 overdrawn fee they caused me to get. Said they sent an email which I never received, BEWARE - DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM. THEY KEEP YOUR CREDIT CARD DETAILS AND JUST TAKE WHAT THEY WANT WHEN THEY WANT. I have lodged a report with ACC. Jow can companies just get away with this sort of behaviour, nothing more than scammers.

Terrible company. Just saw a charge through PayPal for $35.95. Researched it and it’s this company. I’ve never noticed before but they have been charging me that every year for the past 7 years!!!! I never sign up for crap like this and have no idea how it happened. The phone number doesn’t work. PayPal won’t help me because they say they handle their own. I’m just going in circles. It’s making me so mad. They have no desire to help resolve disputes and PayPal isn’t any better!???

I wish there was a -star..one star is way too much. They tried to scam me out of $15,000.00 when I asked for a refund. They hire rude people. Their call center isn't even in this country. It's in India. Never give them access to your computer even if they are support. They can not be trusted. If you use them you will be doing at your own risk. There are better antivirus programs out there.

I had to reset my computer three times when I had it because when I put on, it would not allow me to do anything. Some mysterious reason, it crashed my computer. Took it off after some frustration. Mine did not work with Gmail nor Firefox. Since taking it off and putting another well-known antivirus on my computer works perfectly.

I purchased Trend Micro Web Security for PlayStation®4 (Add-On Content) 19.99. Trend Micro Kids Safety for PlayStation®4 (Add-On Content) 19.99 a year ago. I never used it nor where there any instructions on how to configure it. In the fine print I found out the hard way you automatically renew people. You then went ahead and charged me for both of those through Sony without my consent on 8/18: I disputed the charges (since I never used the software originally nor did I authorize the renewal nor did I have the knowledge of checking if there was an auto renewal setting to uncheck because there were no instructions in the original purchase.)
Sony then locked me out of using all the games on my PS4 because I refused to pay for your software that I didn't use or authorize the renewal for. This is totally unacceptable. Sony's customer service rep refused to unlock my gaming account without paying for this. I am letting the community know about your horrible practices with customers and I can assure I am not purchasing your software anymore and I am switching gaming systems due to Sony protecting you. The next system will be an X Box.

Best Buy cancelled its contract with Kaspersky and offered me Trend Micro for the remainder of the contract which expires in August 2019. A few weeks ago TM kept sending me daily messages that it was scanning my laptop at a specific time on that day. It never happened. I finally contacted TM who then removed the message and as I found out today, the remainder of my contract without any prior notice. This gives me concern signing up with TM again as they seem to be unreliable. For some odd reason, they allowed me to keep their Password Manager... HaHa.

I just bought a new laptop and the seller gave me a card with a key number on it for a free one year subscription. When I tried downloading the anti-virus protection it errored out and told me to call their 1-800 number which I did. They asked to remotely connect to my system which I allowed because I was given this from a trusted source. They said they would do a scan and call me back. I watched them while they worked on my system. About 10 mins later I get a call back from Devon, he has told me my call has be passed to him due to the severity of the issues found.
He essentially used scare tactics to tell me my entire brand new system out of the box had been compromised. I immediately told him to disconnect from my system! He wanted me to buy all sorts of services and I knew this was a scam. My computer had been out of the box for less than an hour and did not have any files on it, impossible it was compromised. I called my work IT and they helped me to a factory reboot to clear any malware they would have put on my computer and allow me to start fresh. I was panicked for a few hours, it was a horrible feeling. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!

I rang them the other day and they told me bad luck. Refused to refund me my money etc... I have now had legal advice, have been in touch with the ACCC and we are taking this further. I have never experienced such bad customer service. We have TM (Trend Micro Endpoint Security) for business at work. I have raised a support case with them in December and now end of February it is still unresolved. I keep chasing every few days or so and each time I am told they are working on it. Admittedly the issue reported is slightly non-standard, but my impression really is that they are just waiting until I give up. I will seriously reconsider renewing this product and recommending to any of my customers.

**WARNING** --- I purchase Internet Security Maximum for (5) users, which also included their software called Password Manager. So I asked how do I set the Password Manager for each user. They told me that each user would have to set up a Trend Micro user/password for each user to keep each users password separate in Password Manager. The master user/password that you use to set up your Trend Micro account is the ONLY user that get to use Password Manager with unlimited passwords. All others gets to use a TRIAL VERSION before it asks for MONEY to buy/activate additional users. Do not purchase for multiple users unless you want to keep spending money. VERY MISLEADING... RIP-OFF...

I have been using Trend Micro Maximum Security for a few years & protection has been fine. I have a problem with their renewal though. My subscription date is December. In October I started receiving renewal offer emails from them. They offered a pretty good deal, so I took it. When I checked my subscription it showed that I had added a year. I had changed credit cards, though, & couldn't afford to have them bill Auto Renewal to the card # I had on file. I very specifically turned OFF Auto Renewal & double-checked it. Suddenly in December I got an email saying my subscription had been renewed. When I checked I found that my subscription was now paid till December 2019. I called in & the agent refunded the extra year & gave me 2 months free subscription, but I sure don't trust them anymore & them billing the wrong credit card will cost me. The agent never apologized for what happened, so I'm doubtful it was an accident.

I had McAfee for a couple of years, and I turned off the auto-renewal option, because I think it's overpriced, and the corporation I work for used Trend Micro for approximately 750 employees. Trend Micro allows you to protect up to 5 devices, and I've now protected my iPhone, my last computer which was a Lenovo that crashed and required replacement, and I now have Trend Micro on my Dell. Trend Micro also emails each user a monthly report of all of the scans conducted, and anything malware, viruses, and all other issues that could jeopardize security of personal information. To date, I've received two reports, and the "heath" of both computers, Lenovo and Dell, are both safe and sound. It's actually the most effective software at the lowest price.
