Factory-backed extended warranty plans available for the Ram 2500 were previously called Mopar Powertrain Care, Added Care Plus and Maximum Care Vehicle Protection. Now serviced under the FlexCare name, these plans are called Extended Care, Extended Care Plus and Extended Care Premium. These plan names also apply to extended warranty coverage for other models, including the Ram 1500 and 3500.

Plans range from basic powertrain warranty coverage to comprehensive bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage, depending on the tier you choose:

Under FlexCare extended warranty coverage, factory-trained technicians at authorized Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram dealerships perform repairs with authentic Mopar parts. These three Ram extended warranty plans are available for new and pre-owned Ram 2500s, including gas and diesel variants.

Additional coverage benefits

FlexCare extended warranty coverage also includes 24-hour roadside assistance featuring flat-tire change, fuel delivery (up to two gallons), battery jump start and lockout services. Other benefits are:

• Up to $100 towing reimbursement per occurrence
• Car rental reimbursement up to $45/day (maximum of $175)
• Trip interruption coverage for lodging, meals and car rental if a covered breakdown occurs more than 100 miles from home ($1,000 maximum)
• Up to three key fob replacements (maximum $600 benefit)

You can transfer FlexCare extended warranty coverage if you sell your Ram 2500; a minor administrative fee may apply.

Eligibility requirements

New Ram 2500s are eligible for a FlexCare extended warranty plan if vehicle owners purchase a plan within the first three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first, starting on the in-service date. Certified pre-owned (CPO) Ram 2500s must be covered under a CPO Limited Warranty and have less than 75,000 miles to be eligible for coverage.

Used Ram 2500s older than 10 years and with more than 150,000 miles are ineligible for a FlexCare extended warranty plan. If the 5-year/60,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty is still active on your Ram 2500, the mileage limit is reduced to 125,000 miles.

Ram 2500 factory warranty coverage

Each gas or diesel Ram 2500 comes with a comprehensive 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty from the factory.

Basic factory warranty coverage extends to most mechanical components. The powertrain warranty covers most major engine components (gas and diesel) and front-wheel, rear-wheel, all-wheel and four-wheel drive transmission components, excluding manual transmission clutch parts. Diesel-specific parts covered by the limited powertrain warranty include the fuel injection pump and injectors, glow plugs, and all sensors.

Ram 2500s of model year 2017 and newer receive 24/7 roadside assistance for five years/60,000 miles (gas) or five years/100,000 miles (diesel). Roadside assistance encompasses flat-tire service, roadside fuel delivery, battery jump start and towing to the nearest Ram dealership.

Ram factory warranties exclude rust, including surface rust caused by the ocean, road salt and airborne industrial fallout. Routine Ram 2500 maintenance also falls under major exclusions.

Ram 2500 extended warranty cost factors

Extended warranty pricing varies based on your Ram 2500’s specific characteristics, how you use your truck and the plan you select. Typical cost factors include:

• Year and mileage: Newer trucks with lower mileage typically qualify for lower prices, while coverage for older, higher-mileage vehicles costs more due to a higher risk of repairs.
• Plan level: More comprehensive coverage comes at a higher price than basic powertrain plans, which cover only major components such as the engine and transmission.
• Term length: Longer warranty terms increase the total cost of coverage, though they can often be spread out into lower monthly payments, depending on the provider.
• Deductible: Choose from $0, $100 and $200 deductible options on each plan, keeping in mind that higher deductibles often come with a lower total plan cost.
• Diesel vs. gas: Diesel Ram 2500 trucks generally cost more to cover than regular gas models, as diesel engines are more complex and expensive to repair.
• Usage and towing: Frequent towing, heavy hauling or commercial use can increase pricing due to added strain on key components and a higher likelihood of claims.
• Coverage add-ons: Optional protections (tire and wheel coverage, maintenance plans or enhanced roadside assistance) add convenience but increase the total plan cost.
• Dealership vs. online seller: Purchasing through a dealership may involve higher markups, while online sellers often offer more competitive pricing and the ability to compare quotes or negotiate.
